Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. It's Financial Literacy Month, and the podcast, Eating While Broke, is bringing real conversations about money, growth, and building your future. This month, hear from top streamer, Zoe Spencer, and venture capitalist
Starting point is 00:00:17 Lakeisha Landrum-Pierre, as they share their journeys from starting out to leveling up. There's an economic component to communities thriving. If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities, they failed. Listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, start.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Starting with the mindset shifts, too many of us were never, ever taught. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents Soccer Moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they hit a bogo. Well, then you got it. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Wake up, you wake up in the morning. Then you turn the radio. And the dials us. Keeps on turn.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Keeps on turn. And you're heading. Ready in their lunchbox. More game two. Cool. Steve red out. Trying to put you through. Like these right in this week's next bit.
Starting point is 00:02:12 And Bobby's on the mic so you know what this is. This is the Bobby Vaughn store. Time for the news. Bobby's big. Stories. A 15-year-old kid who created a soap that could. treat skin cancer. He's 15.
Starting point is 00:02:31 He was named Times 2024 kid of the year. Whoa. He may need to elevate up to like human of the year. Yeah. I know. A teen who created the soap
Starting point is 00:02:40 that could transform skin cancer treatment was chosen. He's from Virginia. He is a 15-year-old scientist, quote, who could change how we treat skin cancer.
Starting point is 00:02:51 It's absolutely incredible to think one day I bar a soap may be able to make a direct impact in somebody else's life. He said, that's the reason I started this all in the first place. The teen was chosen after he created a soap that could be more accessible in delivering medication to treat skin cancers, including melanoma.
Starting point is 00:03:05 That's from Yahoo. Dang. 15. He's going to be so rich. Is he? Or, or. It's funny, that's what you think. I don't think.
Starting point is 00:03:14 He's already, like, working so hard and smart at 15. Yeah, but my point is a lot of these professions, you can be a doctor or you can go and be specifically into some kind of can. You can be too well, but you're not going to be so rich. I'm just saying he's already moving at something. Like at 15, what were we doing? No, no, I hear you. But some of these kids that want to change the world, they don't choose careers that make them so rich.
Starting point is 00:03:37 They change careers. They choose careers that change the world in the better place that oddly don't pay as much as like professional athletes. You're rich in another way. Sure. That's not what they're thinking. Like, they're thinking of money. They want to retire so bad.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Yeah, they're going to be in their 40s. Going to med school. Yeah. Like it's going to take them until their 50s to get out of it. Do they give scholarships to med school? Some, yeah. Like full. paid. Really? I never heard a sex thing.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Yeah, and then we've had stories on the show before where people have wiped medical debt. They're like, oh, we're going to just pay. No, I'm not talking about that though, because like whenever I was going to school, I knew if I did not get a great score on my ACT, I would not be able to go to college. So, started
Starting point is 00:04:17 working hard. Seventh grade, nailed it. Which is pretty young, didn't nail it. I was pretty good of taking those standardized tests. Got to the point where that's how I got into whatever school I was going to go to. I ended up going to school that was near my radio job. But I understand that scholarship. Let's say you finish all of your undergrad.
Starting point is 00:04:34 You're going to med school. You're going to Harvard. Harvard has med school, right, I assume? Yeah, probably. Well, they give you a full scholarship to med school. I've never heard of some. I'm not saying there isn't, but I've never heard of anyone to go, got a full med scholarship.
Starting point is 00:04:45 I always hear, got to pay off my med debt. Yeah. Yeah. I think they do. I think for, yeah, some, I mean, why would you not have opportunities for people that are very bright but maybe can't afford it? I agree with that why, but I don't know. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:00 No, I agree with theory. All right, moving on. The Journal of Economic Entomology sounds super boring, but they say whatever you're using to kill cockroaches, you're buying at the store and not really working. Like raid? If you use bug spray to kill cockroaches, you're wasting your money.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Experts say consumer roach sprays are mostly ineffective. Little to no value. Scientists found that roach sprays available to the public kill less than 20% of the pests, which makes sense because they're like, if there's a nuclear boom, you know what? lives the roaches. Oh, they say that? So they say if you do have a roach problem,
Starting point is 00:05:34 it is even better with your finances to hire somebody than to deal with road spray over four or five, six months because it's not going to work. So this is like the one where you spray the edges of your wall to make sure they don't come back in. It could be like. Because I was going to say, when you spray it on a minute, I see that thing flip right over and pass out.
Starting point is 00:05:51 I think you're drowning that. You can do that with anything. Oh, maybe. Yeah. I think you can spray windows. any of that stuff there. That could be true. Watching five hours a day of TV increases the risk of dementia by nearly
Starting point is 00:06:02 50% watching too much television does increase the people who watch more than five hours of TV a day. And I'm assuming this is not over one day, it's over a long period of time. I'm like, what if you're reading closed captions though too? Because like then you're working your brain. Oh, literature, you'd say.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Well, yes. Researchers say high TV viewing time over the years does increase the risk of various brain related disorders. But I would say, It's not so cut and dry as a doctor myself that if you're spending that much time watching television, you're probably not spending to other time doing things that would be effective for your brain, mind, and body.
Starting point is 00:06:37 So it's not just watching the TV. It's being sedentary. It's probably, yeah, the other things you're not doing that would help. Oh, by the way, tomorrow on Tuesday Reviews Day, where we review all of our shows, we definitely binge something over the weekend. Okay. Over two days. We spent over five hours a day watching.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Oh, wow. It's a good one. I got a new one. And I've never heard anybody talk about the show. But tomorrow, I'm about to give you a show that you're going to want to watch in a day or two. Okay. It's rare to get a bingey. When you get a binge, you feel so lucky. You're like, I love it so much. I want to binge it all. Isn't it great to have the feeling of a... Oh, yeah. Yeah. Look forward to?
Starting point is 00:07:13 You just identify a bingey, and you can't always do it. What are you calling it a binge? I just made that up. It's like something you want to binge. A bingey. I want to play this voicemail. This is Marcy from Illinois. This morning on my way to church, I got pulled over for rolling through a stop sign. And while I was waiting for the policeman to check out my identification, et cetera, I turned on the radio. And I'm happy to say Chicago has Bobby Bones back. I didn't know this.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I'm so excited. Even though I didn't get a ticket, I got a warning. So two things happened to me that were absolutely great. I'm so happy. Welcome back to Chicago. I'm so glad you're on 102.3. Welcome back to Chicago. Yay, Bobby bones and crew.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Thank you. That's how we feel, too. Please tell your friends. We need it. It's Chicago Lance Free Country, 983 and 102.3. Please tell your friends, literally. Please, please. We went on to Chicago and Atlanta. Please tell your friends. Because they're going to rip us off if you don't.
Starting point is 00:08:14 We'll be on there for like three days. And they're like, well, you didn't have everybody in the city. Time to get off the air. Please tell your friends. All right, here's another one. A woman tries to run her boyfriend over with a car. car en route to couples therapy. Oh, well.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Well, they were on their way to help. A little too late for the therapy part. Or did she hit him a little too early because the therapy part would have helped? That's what I mean. They should have been. A 30-year-old woman's in custody after an incident on the way to couples therapy. Veronica was arrested for second-degree assault criminal vehicular operation. A lot of stuff.
Starting point is 00:08:44 They were driving a couples therapy with a boyfriend. They had been a couple for about a year. Hey, look, though, they were as a boyfriend girlfriend and couple's therapy. Like, that's health. Yeah, that is healthy. Not even marriage. Yeah, I wonder how many boyfriend-girlfriends do that. Well, they were.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Look at them. I'm happy for them. They sound like they're going to make it. Oh, hold on a minute. Yeah. While driving on the way to the therapist, the boyfriend announced he was breaking up their relationship and said, just take me home. Oh. She then stopped the car.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Demanded he'd get out of the car. He, this is on him. Walked in front of the car. Listen, bro, when you're demanding to get out of the car because there's a fight, do not walk in front of the car. Walk behind the car, walk the other direction. Not walk in front of the car. And so then she nailed the gas pedal to run them over. Which is also on her.
Starting point is 00:09:29 But bro, you can't walk in front of the car whenever you break up with somebody. I don't care who it is. He then smashed into the windshield. Rolled across the hood of the vehicle. Shattered the windshield. Only hurt his elbow, like glass right of his elbow. When in custody, she claimed her cracked windshield was caused by her boyfriend punching the glass, not his body weight.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Bro, you got to be able to Jake Paul that thing to punch through that glass. There's no way. That glass is so hard. You're not going to punch your glass. That's from Fox News. A lot of mistakes are made here. But I do commend them for going to couples therapy as a boyfriend girlfriend. Good for them. Yeah, good for them. I really feel like they can work this thing out. Have you ever walked out of the car? No. Oh, I've done it. I will just wait. Wait, you what? Hold the story. I'll come back to it. I want to come back to it. I was an idiot.
Starting point is 00:10:15 I will just wait because, one, I don't want to get left. And then two, if they're like, let me out of the car. and that's never happened to me either I know that I'm so stubborn I will drive off and then something will happen to them and then I'll be on the hook for it so I'm able to compartmentalize and you can think about this stuff
Starting point is 00:10:31 those emotions yeah rage only gets me when Arkansas loses a football game at the end that's it that's the only time I see like red in my eyes all right that's the news those were Bobby's big stories you can have opinions you can have
Starting point is 00:10:47 like a strong stance And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich. That's great.
Starting point is 00:12:12 It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up? I'm Miles Turner. And I'm Brianna Stewart. And our podcast, Game Recognized Game has never been done before. Two active players giving you a real look at our lives and what we actually think on and off the floor. Nothing's off limits.
Starting point is 00:12:54 We talk trade requests. What's the vibe of that when it's like your star player is like, well, I want to leave. And then actually now I'm going to stick. We talk tanking. I mean, honestly, like, I might get in trouble for this answer, but I think it's like definitely happening in the WBA. And yeah, we talk about our mistakes too. They pulled me to the side and was like, hey, man, we got a call last night,
Starting point is 00:13:17 man, you can't be rolling around the city like this tonight before games, no, you know, doing this, doing whatever. And of course, family. stories. And we'll be like, mommy, why did you miss that? Mommy, do you play basketball? Check out Game Recognized game with Stuy and Miles on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is what's referred to as a Band-Aid segment where I don't tease it.
Starting point is 00:13:44 There's no build-up to it. We just ripped the Band-Aid off. I've never called it that until now, but if you ever hear of a Band-Aid segment, that's what it's going to be for now on. Okay. I didn't before going into this segment, I didn't tease anything. Band-aid segment Ready? Go ahead
Starting point is 00:13:58 Man in uniform and I broke up What? Oh So that is Morgan Oh boy Didn't want to do a big bit build out Don't lunchbox Well Morgan also I've known for a bit
Starting point is 00:14:14 Because I will try to make sure That the show doesn't migrate To going in on something Just to give her a little space And so she was like okay, this happened. So cool, I felt like it's my job to protect her for a little bit. So if it goes somewhere, I can boot it out until she's comfortable, right? A little behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:14:32 She did also come and say, I would like to say it now and get it over with because it will be brought up again in normal discussion. And I commend her for that because she's looking out for herself by doing that. But this is always a hard segment. So I'm also vamping here to let her catch a breath again because I know that was hard for her to say. So we're going to give you all the space that you want or need. and you can lead us in whichever direction you like, Morgan. I was completely blindsided. I didn't know this was coming.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I didn't see it coming. I protected myself in every way that I possibly could and thought that I had found somebody that this was it. And you guys heard that and me talking about it on the show. But he, as we were about it, about to move in together. I guess you could say he had... What you said?
Starting point is 00:15:26 As you what, to move in together? We were about to move in together. Got it. I had a epiphany. Man in uniform is Jewish and decided because I'm not Jewish. That's not what he wanted. So we had multiple conversations about it. I thought we were on the same page, which is why I was completely blindsided.
Starting point is 00:15:46 But I guess we weren't. And that's where we are now. Can I give you a Oh it's such a light Like fractional positive Can I give you a fractional positive? You didn't pick a freaking loser And I think that that
Starting point is 00:16:01 For the first time Like as your friend Like that's big growth This sucks for it Now no I'm not taking away This sucks for you In any way But I think that you're maturing
Starting point is 00:16:10 And actually knowing What you want in a relationship And From our life with you I think you have started To look for more quality guys and for what they stand for and believe in. And I know right now it doesn't help you feel better.
Starting point is 00:16:27 But like this was a mild win in your growth as a human that I totally get. If you guys aren't compatible on that level, don't go further at all. And I'm sure it hurts for both of you and sucks for both of you. And I'm going to stop talking because I'm not even sure what I can even ask. But that really sucks. I mean, you can ask that I do feel. Good about the fact that I finally found someone who gave me hope that there are good men out there. But it sucks all the more because of that, again, because I was blindsided and thinking that this was, this was it.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Did you want you convert? Was that it? No. You know, really like, I don't think that would have mattered. Was he practicing or born or both? Born. Okay. So does he practice?
Starting point is 00:17:23 Judaism? Was that, was that? It's more the culture thing. Got it. Got it as much practicing, which is why like when we had conversations about it, I, it kind of really threw me because I, I didn't see that at all. And I, that's why when we would have conversation about it, I thought we were on the same page. But as, you know, we got more serious and stuff, it just became that that's going to be more important for him in the future, I suppose. Does he want to find a Jewish wife? Yeah. I think good job.
Starting point is 00:17:55 by him because this definitely could have gone a lot farther and he could have pulled that thread a little later, which would have been even harder. I think good job by you. By picking somebody that was worth the crap, it still very much sucks. And I'm very sorry because I know you are like fundamentally you are excited about the future. And that's, you'll look back at this as big time growth. Big time growth. You can't right now.
Starting point is 00:18:24 It sucks. It really sucks. I'm sorry. Yeah, there's not a lot of people out there that can relate to this particular topic, which also makes it harder and really hard for me to understand. But I do. I am really happy that one day I can look at this scenario and know that I found somebody that was good. And I now can see out there that there is going to be good. I think this is actually something that happens more than you think.
Starting point is 00:19:00 And I'm not saying you're specific Jewish and Christian, but I think there are a lot of couples that struggle with, again, I'll use the word like fundamental foundation, that they don't come from that same spiritual background or even same religion and they have to figure a way to make it work. I have very close friends that have gone through some extremely difficult times because they do have like a, they even call it like a split.
Starting point is 00:19:32 I think interfaith. And it's, it's difficult. But it's again, it's really great that you guys identified that now. Because it just would have been way, way, way, way, way harder. And then you're sharing right now even as hard as it is, it may prompt conversations that other people need to have. Like hearing this, like even though it's painful and hard, somebody listening right now is going to be encouraged.
Starting point is 00:19:58 of like, oh, this is a conversation that I haven't had yet in my relationship and I maybe need to do it. And it may help them get through either whatever direction they're going to go. It's a conversation that sometimes people avoid or don't realize until it gets too late. And they're like, oh, shoot, we didn't discuss this. And what if we want to have kids? And then how are we going to raise them? And, you know, it's snowballs. Is there a chance you guys have a discussion about it later and change your minds? I don't think so We had a follow-up conversation
Starting point is 00:20:32 After the breakup happened And he seemed very Sure in his decision So I don't think there's anything That I could have done or could do differently For him And that sucks for me But I do still believe he's a great human
Starting point is 00:20:48 Which also sucks And two things can be true at the same time One this sucks I'm really sorry because it sucks and your heart hurts and hate that for you as a person but it also I think is a good thing that it happened now and not later
Starting point is 00:21:03 after you lived with each other and made it even harder which would then make if you did decide to get married and keep punting it kicking the can god dang yeah and it made it so much worse
Starting point is 00:21:12 so I am thankful for that well everyone it really hurts really bad right now I'm sure it does sorry Morgan and I know lunchbox his eyes got big because he was going to be like
Starting point is 00:21:24 love bomb told you but it wasn't that at all and then you know he did he his eyes got lowered. You know what? He lowered his head down real quick because he wasn't going to say anything. I got a couple theories. There aren't theories to have.
Starting point is 00:21:35 She told you what happened. No. I don't even know that. It's too soon. This is why right at the beginning I'm like lunchbox. I looked at him and I was like lunchbox, no. Maybe that's why he looked down.
Starting point is 00:21:46 She's clearly in pain right now. Are you scolded him mid-segment? Yeah. No, right at the beginning. Did you see I looked back and I go lunchbox? Because I knew he was about to just like go in. What's one of the theories?
Starting point is 00:22:01 Well, part of mine just hearing her talk is he got cold feet about the moving in because she said we were about to move in together and so he looked for the one thing that he knew he could use as the excuse because she said they had multiple conversations about it and they were on the same page. So I think the moving in like freaked him out.
Starting point is 00:22:22 Well, let's go to Morgan. That's my first theory. Your thoughts on that theory. I don't think it was that because he's the one who brought it up. I was never pursuing that. That was never something that I pushed. And it came very naturally into the conversation. And he was very consistent.
Starting point is 00:22:40 There was even like a moment where I was like, I'm not getting rid of any of my stuff because we're not married and I'm not going there. I don't want to do this. And he assured me that this is happening. And we were moving forward. So there was no part of me that believed the cold. feet thing was going to happen. Okay, that's one theory.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Get it out. Second theory. She does just get out of the way. Is that he had been waiting to meet me and then now that he did, he was like, all right, I can break up. That one, I can probably co-sign. Oh my God. Yeah, because it's a lot of us. I met him like a week and a half ago and then it's like, all right,
Starting point is 00:23:16 now that I got to meet lunch, I can. So the whole relationship, he was just using her to get to you. Sounds like it. I mean, he did ask me if I wanted to go run with him. That's true. That's the one guys I can kind of co-sign. I gotta believe. Morgan, it really sucks. We're laughing now because we're just trying to lighten it up a little bit.
Starting point is 00:23:30 But a weaker people have gotten through harder things. And you're going to crush this. You're going to grow from it. You're going to learn from it. You didn't pick a loser. And I think as funny as that sounds for me to say, like that shows your growth. And I'm sorry it happened. You know, I will say there's a moment for me this weekend as I'm trying to process everything.
Starting point is 00:23:51 I was my dog that you had mentioned, that my new foster sunshine got adopted and I was taking her to her new home. And I looked at her and I was like, you're so special. And I know this is scary and I know that you're afraid of what's to come, but this is going to be so beautiful for you. And as I was telling her that, I was like, what the crap? What am I doing? Why can I say that to her?
Starting point is 00:24:16 But I can't say it to myself right now. And there was some healing in that. So that was kind of a bright spot amongst all of this as well. Would it help you if we promoted your podcast? At least you get some streams from a podcast from this. I think that would be good. Good idea. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Morgan, the name of your podcast is? Take this personally. Oh, no. What? That's the name of her podcast. Yeah, maybe he took something personally from the podcast. It's so dumb. Stick with the theory he wanted to meet you.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Right. That's the better one. Yeah, roll with that one. Check out Morgan's podcast. Take this personally. we care about you you're going to be fine it sucks right now and that's okay
Starting point is 00:24:57 and it should suck right now are you back on hinge it's already like a weekend like lunch fuck you can have opinions you can have like a strong stance
Starting point is 00:25:13 and then there's your body having its own program I'm Dr. Maya Shunker a cognitive scientist and host of the podcast a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our
Starting point is 00:25:40 resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty. that none of us likes. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Hobriant,
Starting point is 00:26:08 I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth
Starting point is 00:26:25 starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. Starting point is 00:26:52 Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect, on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, Ernest, what's up? Look, money is something we all deal with, but financial literacy is what helps turn income into real wealth. Starting point is 00:27:57 Hey, Nicole, you're on the show. What's going on? Hi. I was wondering if you all could help me kind of turn my son's day around. Turn your son's day around? Is that what she said? Yeah. Okay, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:28:11 How can we do that? So, today was his first day of middle school, and he was really, really nervous. And unfortunately, the boss forgot about him, which resulted in his first day. about an hour late to school since we live pretty far from the school. Okay, so did the bus forget about him? Or did he was, are you sure it was a bus problem and it wasn't a, he was like late to the bus stop? It's squarely on the bus, not the mom. No, I called and they said that they forgot about him.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Okay, good. Okay, now. That's rough. That's rough. That's rough. The bad start. Yeah, that's that. I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:28:50 And then you're an hour late. So you walk in as well and everybody, it's like, oh, I hate that. Okay. go ahead and so he goes and have you talked to him since you dropped him off um no the bus actually came back to get him because my other child was is starting kindergarten and we had to be here for her bus so the remember the kindergarten but just forgot the middle school there yeah so what do you think we can do well we'll ask you what can we do to help turn his day around well he loves loves the show um so if you could just give him some words of encouraging
Starting point is 00:29:24 and he can go back and listen. I think it might make his day a little bit better. Yeah. What's his name again? Jonathan. All right. Jonathan, it's Bobby, and it's the whole show here. And today was day one.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Can't get any worse. It's going to get better. It's going to get a lot better, buddy. When the bar's set low, it's good. Yeah, that kind of stinks. I'll be honest with you when the bus forgets you. However, now the bus driver owes you. So, yeah, so if you're a few minutes late to the bud,
Starting point is 00:29:52 they're going to wait on you first. second of all like you know you probably walked into a classroom and I was a new kid at school so many times in my life because we would just have to move and I hated it however it made me so good and this is one instance but it made me so good at being a chameleon and like not making friends but blending in and like learning my environment which I still use every day um it may feel weird that you went in and all those kids are looking at you like who's this guy which by the way was it like new kids too that come to that school or is all the same? old friends.
Starting point is 00:30:24 All new kids. Okay. Does he have like a fit? We need to hook him up with something. Like what does he like? Because I can say all these words. He's middle school or who cares? We need to give him a problem.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Does he play baseball? Yeah, what does he like? Oh, he's big into baseball and football. Okay. Perfect. What's his favorite football team? Kansas City Chiefs. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Okay. See, I don't have anything Kansas City. City Chiefs. Okay. How about, okay, what's his favorite baseball team? I'm staying with Cardinals. Okay, we got, I do have some Cardinals. Okay, so here's what I'm going to do.
Starting point is 00:30:59 First of all, I'm going to just give me your address, and I'm going to send them, like, I have some really cool Cardinals baseball cards in my personal collection. I'm going to send us baseball cards. We're all going to sign a baseball from the show. We're just going to send them a whole box of stuff. And Jonathan, Jonathan, you're going to get a cool box of stuff. Just know that it's going to get better. Who cares anyway? And really, it's just another day, Jonathan.
Starting point is 00:31:21 You're going to look back and be like, that was a funny. first day of school mom and a little bit you can probably hold it against your mom we get like free ice cream or something if I'm being honest because you can be like I'm still sad mom even though you're not and get some free ice cream but we're going to send you Jonathan a whole deal tomorrow will be a much better day and hopefully you call us after you get this package of stuff we're going to send you and you come visit us sometime if you ever in town too how about that that's a pretty good gift oh yeah that would be that would be great he'll be so happy okay oh thank you so much you're welcome is your favorite player um Malina
Starting point is 00:31:54 It's probably his favorite player. Yadir? Yeah, but Yadda isn't play anymore. No. Yeah, I know, because we could have, like, call somebody at the Cardinals. I've been like, okay, let us work on something for them. We're going to send him a whole box of cool stuff. And Jonathan, you got this, buddy.
Starting point is 00:32:06 It's just another day. You're all good. And then we will send them some stuff to your house, okay? Don't hang up. Okay, thank you. Okay. You can put her on hold. I got to go home and out and get into my collection.
Starting point is 00:32:17 See what you got? I've got some guys. I saw one that I have for sure. Yeah, we'll get us some cards and we'll sign some stuff. This story comes us from Roseburg, Oregon. A woman driving a van with Nana's sweet treats on the side
Starting point is 00:32:34 was running low on gas. She's like, where am I going to get some gas? Seiz a U-Haul shop. It's like, ah, they got gas in those things, so she starts siphoning the gas. And why she's doing it, she's like, you know, I really need a cigarette right now. Of course. Lid up her cigarette. Boom! Gas all over her mouth, and everything. You're right? Yeah, lit up up two U-Hauls. It caught him on.
Starting point is 00:32:54 fire. I wonder if she just had a hose because we used to siphon gas, not from other people, but we would take gas because we have a lot of money. And so if one car had gas and the other one didn't, you would siphon a little bit from one to the other, but we had a water hose and you cut the ends of the water hose. One goes in and then you try to time it, so you have to
Starting point is 00:33:16 and you have to stick it into the hole. But you would get gas in your mouth, right? Every time. So that's when he was like, cigarette, I was like, it's not going to be good. But, But yeah, I'm surprised she didn't burn. I mean, but still, what does it taste like? I mean, it's gas. Terrible gas.
Starting point is 00:33:34 And so everything, it's fire. Yeah, lit up to U.S. She was charged with arson. Again, did she have a hose with her? It was the normal thing. All right. I'm lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of the day.
Starting point is 00:33:44 We do a segment called Spill the Tea. And then let's spill the tea. Somebody tattles. Lunchbox would like to do a recap. in what he calls the worst spill the tea in the history of the show. Because what was the tea that was spilled? That I was at the Chris Stapleton concert and some fan or came up and tapped me on the shoulder
Starting point is 00:34:04 and said, hey, do you want to take a picture? And I was like, yeah, we can take a picture. But they just wanted me to take a picture of them with their wife and they didn't want me in the picture. Which was funny. Yeah, hilarious. And I didn't think that would need to be anonymous. Do we have the anonymous clip?
Starting point is 00:34:18 Okay, here's what happened. Well, I was waiting to see if lunchbox was going to confess a super awkward moment that happened to him over the weekend, but I don't think he is. So here I am spilling the tea. So it was such a good, it was even a wholesome one, just funny. Yeah. That one I thought, whomever said it could have just said it without worried about the repercussions. However, you think it's the worst one ever because why?
Starting point is 00:34:41 Because then we have a side studio where we record commercials and stuff and I go in there to record a commercial the other day and the idiot left the audio up. They just left it there on the computer so I know exactly who it is. How did you know by the audio? Was it? It was the original without the voice changer. I'm like, oh, what is this? Does it need to be saved?
Starting point is 00:35:00 And it's like, oh, I was waiting to, it was waiting to see if it's going to confess. Do we have the actual? Yeah, go ahead. Well, I was going to see if lunchbox is going to confess this super awkward situation. So that's Abby. So it's Abby. We knew it. Abby.
Starting point is 00:35:16 You got to close it out. Oh, my God. I can't believe that. And I did it so many times. There was like four of them. She did four different versions. Abby. It didn't say it saved.
Starting point is 00:35:27 It just showed up as like random. You have to X out of all that crap. I know. I didn't think lunchbox would see it. He doesn't even know technology. But I had to go in the recording commercial and I see it on the screen and I'm like, does this need to be saved? Does this need to be saved?
Starting point is 00:35:39 That's thoughtful of you? And I just hit play and I'm like, well, here we go. I know who did it. Dang. Abby, anything you'd like to say to him now that's not anonymous. No, I just think it's hilarious that that happened because he's He's so famous and celebrity, but they didn't even know he was lunchbox. Agree, it was hilarious.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Agree, it was also hilarious that you did not take it off the screen. So next time, what are you going to do, Abby? I'm definitely going to delete it immediately. Or you can just be, you know, be a man and be like, say it in person. Oh, just, yeah. I thought it would be funnier because we like to do like the anonymous. Well, I thought it was Morgan. Oh, no, I'm surprised.
Starting point is 00:36:18 I thought it was good Steve. All right. Thank you, everybody. We're done. Check out the Bobby Bone Show podcast. Just go search for the Bobby Bone Show wherever you listen to your podcast. Morgan, what do you have? Everyone shared their worst scams in the history of the show. Yeah, like we were scammed. We've all been scammed in some way or another, even before scam alert. So we shared our worst scams. All right, what else? Lunchbox has a palette update. That's Voldemort. We do not talk about the palette, but we brought it up. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:36:47 And Alyssa needs some help on when to get rid of kids stuff. Thank you. kids stuff. Yeah, like their kids did a finger painting. When do I throw it away? That's all up on the podcast so much more. Check out the Bobby Bone Show podcast. And as a special request to me, would you mind and leave this up around today's podcast?
