It's time for the Bobby Bones Post Show.
Here's your host, Bobby, Bones.
I wasn't known the difference though
You really?
No, I didn't...
I'm just not clicking today.
I woke up with like one this morning,
was up until after 3.30 or something.
Like I'm just not on.
Like today, we finished the segment,
I'd be like, I wonder what we just did there.
Huh.
Something on your mind?
Like, why are you not sleeping well?
No.
I mean, yes.
But this is the thing.
That's what Caitlin tells me.
Because I'm like, I'm not stressed.
She's like, no, you have always lived under complete stress,
and you stress about everything
that just feels normal to you at this point.
And so I was like, oh, maybe.
That's smart.
I don't know if it's smart or not,
but she's like, well, let's look at it.
I mean, you should see, we have a schedule.
If you go to my Instagram,
let me see if you can see it.
Mr. Bobby Bowens, you'll see,
in a video I just posted where I tried to tackle
10 scratchoffs at one time,
you can see, I have a big calendar behind me
that I keep in the house.
I saw it at Amies,
and I was the greatest thing
I've ever seen in my life.
What's it called?
A DAC board, D.
And the calendar just stays up there.
And as the day goes, it just populates with stuff.
Oh, man.
It's helpful.
That would stress me out.
She's like, look at your calendar.
You're always living on.
What am I doing?
In six minutes, nine minutes, 13 minutes.
So I don't feel stress, but I always feel like this.
I follow that pattern.
That's it.
When I don't have anything to do, I'm confused.
Really?
We had a, like, a Saturday, not this week because we were in Oklahoma.
But I just woke up and I had nothing on the calendar, nothing on the schedule.
And I was like, I don't know.
I'm confused.
Like, what do I do?
She was like, what do you want to do?
I was like, I don't know. I usually have everything down.
I know what I'm doing every day all the time.
And then I think I just took a nap,
watch some Apple TV.
Days like that are good, though, right?
Yeah, they're fine.
At the end of it, I'm like, there were like 14 things I could have done
or gotten ahead on.
I know, but it's almost like that's a day for you to take care of yourself.
It's like that saying, like put the oxygen mask on yourself
before all your other work projects.
I've never heard that saying before.
Yes.
I never heard that either.
I'm not getting that quote tattooed on me.
When you're flying in an airplane, they say always put the oxygen mask on yourself first before you put it on a child.
And so I'm just saying like you have a lot going on, but you're going to show up to your work stuff better if you have those days where you just unplug for a little bit.
But I'm saying your quote saying, what was wrong with my quote?
Your quote was, you know what they say?
Put your oxygen mask on before you go to work and check in and clock in and put in eight hours.
Work is like your child at the moment.
So that was my, that was me improvising for your circumstances.
Got it.
On Movie Mike's movie podcast, he has the director of the blindside.
His name is John Lee Hancock.
They talk about the making of the blind side and how he decided to stick to what actually
happened in real life and how he changed some things to make a better movie.
Oh, interesting.
That's cool.
Like just for entertainment purposes.
Like his, he was balancing it out, like why he did some, why he didn't do some?
Yes?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He also talks about what a day in the life?
life is as a director of HBO show called The Little Things with Dinsel Washington.
Oh, it's a movie. Okay. Yeah. That blindside, it's good.
Yeah. I'm a pretty good friends with the kid in that family.
The real kid. Yeah, Leantooey's kid. Not the actor. Yeah, he's a coach at UCF now. I know him pretty well.
S.J.
Why, he's a coach now? Because you met him. He was just... He's director of football operations at UCF.
That's cool. Yeah. And so, yeah, I'm pretty good buddies with him, actually. I talked to him last week.
And so he is in... He's the real-life family. Like, Sandra Bullock played his mall.
Lee Ann Toey
And Tim McGraw
Played his dad
Yep
That's right
So yeah
Check out movie Mike's
Movie podcast there
Which is pretty cool
All right I got a few things
I wanted to mention here
Number one
Oh let me talk about Mike for a second
Mike you got your wedding license
Over the weekend huh
Yeah
I saw that picture
We are official now
What does that mean
Are you married?
No
Once somebody signs that piece of paper
We are officially married
Oh that's what it is
Yeah
Hmm, so.
The pastor or whomever.
Sure.
Whomever is ordained.
So if I were to get ordained on the internet and sign it without you knowing, would you be secretly married?
Technically you would.
Yeah, if you're ordained, you sign it, you send it back.
Oh, you have to send it back.
Yeah, you send it back.
And was that cool, exciting, nerve-wracking?
It was exciting.
That's the point where it kind of felt like this is really happening now, and it felt more official like a real thing.
Did you cry?
No.
I don't think there's any way I don't cry when I do my vows.
I was thinking about it.
Because I was watching a couple friends of ours do theirs.
Friends of Caitlin's, but I know them a little bit.
And so I was watching and he was reading his.
And I was trying to play it cool.
I got something in my eye.
But I was getting choked up.
Really?
Yeah.
And I was like, there's no way I'm going to pull this off.
I'm going to blubber.
Huh.
I feel like that.
There is a gear in me, though, where I can compartmentalize and really focus
and then really feel it afterward.
but I don't know that I want to push that gear in.
But the problem is, I can't stop it once it starts.
That's right.
Like in my mom's funeral, I was like, you know what?
I'm just going to feel it and read that.
And I couldn't stop.
It was like an hour long.
I was reading like six lines.
I've written a thing, and I was just, I could not stop.
I'm afraid it's going to be like that at this wedding,
where I'm just holding everybody up.
Everybody's watching a little?
Do we have to time out while you just finish out your cry?
Maybe I just dry up.
Like, I cry all the tears out.
But I don't know how I'm not going to get super,
emotional. You guys flew to Texas just for that? Yeah, flew for that and then for our parents to meet.
Oh. They had never met yet? They hadn't met yet. No. And we haven't even seen anybody since we got
engaged. So how'd that go? It was great. They got along super great. I was kind of worried about
like the language barrier between my parents and her parents because my parents don't speak a whole lot of
English, but they were able to hit it off fine. And what do they talk about? They talked a lot about
work. My dad's a truck driver. Her dad is a retired police officer. So they kind of just talked about
that. Remember I pulled you over so. Back in 78. Yeah. And then her mom's got along. We were just talking
about the wedding. Does your mom speak better English than your dad? Yeah, my mom speaks it a lot
better. She uses it more at work. My dad is kind of like me. I think that's where I get the
not talking a whole lot from. So yeah, he doesn't say a whole lot. And everything went good,
and you came home happy. Yeah. And you're still getting married. Still getting married.
We were looking at the calendar because we're going to Mike's wedding and then
Caitlin's sister's wedding is the next weekend, I think, after that.
being season.
Yeah.
And you guys shortly after that.
And then we got us later.
I mean,
ours is significantly later,
but like theirs is
back to back.
I have to sing at two weddings,
Mike's and.
Oh,
you're singing at the wedding?
They don't know that yet,
but I'm not probably hop up
and do it off.
They don't know.
They'll be fine with it.
Do you guys,
are you doing DJ?
Yeah, DJ and a
band.
DJ and Mariachi.
That's what I'm talking about.
Is that Mariachi playing
all night?
No,
or is it just for like fun for a second?
They'll play.
for like an hour and a half before.
Oh, got it.
And then the DJ, the rest of the night.
What do you mean before?
Before the wedding?
Yeah.
Like while we're eating and stuff.
Your stepson?
Got it, got it, got it.
But we're not going to dance to the...
No, no.
It's like...
Just background, yeah.
Okay.
But she's not Mexican.
No, not at all.
So that was your addition?
That was, yeah.
For my family, an important thing to have.
Nice.
Any uncles or aunts coming from your family?
No, just my immediate family.
And then friends.
All right.
All right, Mike.
congratulations buddy
another thing Caitlin's doing is she
is drinking one of those
big gallons of water every day
yeah I tried that
and she's actually doing it
and I told her when she got it she was like
how long will I be able to pull those off I was like I give you 13 days
and she was like okay I'll take that bet
and so but it's massive and it says like 9 a.m. to this point
11 it's all the way down so she
it's work and I laugh
so we've made a bet I was like
okay you're just drinking water who cares
and she was like okay you do it hot shot
So we have a little food bet going here
To drink water
Well, she's gonna get me one of these big tubs that she drinks
And I'm gonna try to pull it off for two weeks
Here we go
I'm not trying to be
Hydration Station
All I'm trying to do is want to bed at this point
I think that I can do it
But and I drink a fair amount of water
But it's a lot of water
It's more of a pain in the butt to carry that jug around
Yeah, that is
Yeah
There's gonna be carrying around the one that's like
At 9 a.m. It's like, you can do this
That's exactly what it is
You got it
At 5 p.m. It's like
A little more to go
I just don't want to pee all night.
It encourages you, the bottle does?
Yeah, it tells you things.
Like, you're trying to drink to that hour on there,
and it gives you a nice little pep talk as you get there.
Yeah.
I think if you get ahead during the day or, like, you follow that,
and then you cut it off.
At a certain point, you won't be up all night.
I just feel like I'm going to be bloated and peeing all night long.
As Lionel Richie used to say,
All night long.
Your kids now aren't having to wear masks while they learn?
Well, I got an email from the school that once
they're seated, they can take off their mask. And it's basically the saying is stand up, mask up.
So if they ever stand up and they're walking around, they need to have their mask on. But if they go to
a socially distance area of the school, like if they're all outside and they're distanced,
then they can take the mask off. But yeah, this is a big step forward in the way we've been living
the last year at school. Also, we no longer have to fill out this app. Like every morning before
school, the kids had to take their temperatures, enter their temperature into an app and you got a green
screen, which green meant go. And when you drop your kids off, you have to show the green like my
kids all clear, no symptoms, but now no more temperature taking. And yeah, it's kind of like progress.
And the school has gone two straight months without any reported COVID anything. So they feel like
that this is an okay time to start lifting some of the protocols. And are they excited about that?
Yeah. I would just be annoyed to wear a mask all day. Oh, yeah. No, I mean, it's, I mean, I can't even imagine. Now they're kind of used to it. But in the beginning, I felt so, so, so bad for them. Just being on an airplane, happened to, we flew to Los Angeles a couple weeks ago. That was a long, long flight. You just start going, I will hold a peanut in my hand to make it seem like I'm eating. So I don't have to wear a mask. Exactly. And I'm a mask guy, but it's just like, you're supposed to get annoying on your face. But now that I'm vaccine, not I'm only vaccinated. I'm only vaccinated.
I'm like, mask, smas.
Let's go, spit on me.
My mask is starting to smell a little bit.
You should wash it.
Wash it.
I don't wash.
I haven't watched it since COVID.
Eddie.
Like beginning.
Well, that's...
That's disgusting.
Yeah, it's pretty gross.
You guys wash your mask?
You're supposed to.
The CDC even says that.
Do you wash your underwear?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
I don't wear underwear every day.
Like, no, the mask.
Some days, I just don't, I go the whole day without wearing.
Oh, I'm a little...
Grows down right now.
Four guys in Indiana were busted on gun charges and drug charges.
after they ran some cars off the road during a funeral procession.
Oh, man.
Why'd they do that?
You know, I pulled over for a funeral procession Thursday.
It was kind of rainy.
And it was behind me and I pulled over and let them go by it.
I realized it was never a funeral procession.
They'd each other light on because it's a little dark.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, and it was slow.
I was like, this is a really long funeral possession.
It never stopped.
It just kept going.
And I was like, oh, I think it's because it's drizzling and it's a little...
It's never a funeral possession.
Yeah, people maybe...
Sometimes people in bad weather put on their hazard.
to give you a heads up.
This is what happened here
during the investigation.
These guys, they found
an FMK model AR-1 Extreme
300 blackout pistol,
a Ruger PC charger 9mm pistol,
5, 6, 7 guns,
suspected heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, controlled substance.
It was on and on.
They had it.
In their car?
Was this all in the car?
Jeez.
Authority to say five people
discovered all the firearms
during the investigation. One person was released on the scene.
I mean, they're not doing good stuff.
No.
And when you're doing that, you should probably do, like, have no traffic violations of any sort.
Like, don't mess with a funeral procession if you know you've got that in your car.
They live wild and free, baby.
Yeah, I don't think we understand the way they live.
Right.
Two teenagers in Alberta, Canada, were mountain biking when they accidentally went straight into a rattlesnake den.
Oh.
Which is lunchbox's worst nightmare?
Oh, my gosh.
Like, how do you live?
Like, did they die?
No, they didn't get bit even.
How?
Mm-hmm.
What started as a casual bike ride through the coolies?
I don't know.
Turned into a nightmarish close call for a 14-year-old mountain biker and his friend.
They've been looking for new trails and jumps, and they rode right into a rattlesnake den.
As my friend went by, I think he, like, set the snakes off or something, because then I was going by one jumped at me.
I just threw my bike ride at it and ran 30 feet away.
Within 45 minutes, ecological consultant Ryan first diver, also known as the rattlesnake wrangler, was on the
Oh. Nobody got bit. There were snakes, though.
But he threw his bike on him. Not a good move, because then you don't got a getaway vehicle.
I think probably you just go, ah, and just do anything.
I don't think the snakes chase you.
Like anything, they try to get away from you.
You look back, it's still in the tail.
It's just chasing you.
Wiggling.
I tell you what does chase you, though, is a water moccasin.
Do they chase you?
When you're swimming in the water?
They're coming at you.
They will come at you, because you see them on top of the water.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
Amy, anything we'd like to say?
I just hope everyone has a great day
I feel that
I don't know
I'm trying to think if I have anything
other than I know Mike did his movie review
I just was gonna tell people about
I could review the
the big year
if you want me to
what's that?
It's a movie about bird birding
but it's a comedy
it's Steve Martin
Jack Black
and Owen Wilson
Is that newish?
No it came out in 2011
but it's new to me
but it's
I mean if you're into birds
it's so good
because you're going to see so many beautiful birds,
but it is about something called the big year,
which is a legit real thing that birders do.
And so it's based on a book,
a true story of these three birders that were competing
to be the number one birder in the...
Do you understand?
No.
Oh, no, I'll stop listening.
Everybody fell asleep, baby.
But it's a comedy.
Like it, these are...
It sounds hilarious.
It's got 41% positive on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yeah, again, people that watched it probably weren't into birds.
But if you are, and it's just...
was fascinating to me that was based on a true story and that there's this big bird competition
and all you have to do is be the one that you see the most birds every species of birds like
you take count and I'm like I'm going to start tallying all the birds that I see but they get
into like the 750s you know I've probably seen about 10 yeah so I have a ways to go but man do you like
it I mean I liked it because I'm into birds but just if anybody else is into birds I'll let people know
but I'm sure it wouldn't get rave reviews from you guys.
What was that called?
The bird year.
Cool, I'll skip that one.
Rude.
What you say, Mike?
The big year.
What did I say?
The bird year.
Yes, it's called the big year.
Sorry, the big year.
Because it's the year of your big year seeing all the birds.
And they travel the world.
Yeah.
Birds do that.
No.
I don't know how far they go, though.
Oh, the humans do.
The humans travel the world to get their bird count high.
Like, they'll see a storm coming in.
It's like steps.
They're bird chasers.
It's almost like storm chasers.
Like, they'll know that a storm is coming to a certain part of the world or the country or wherever they are.
And they're like, they book a airline ticket.
They get there because they know that with the change.
Like surfers, chasing waves.
That's right.
With the change in the weather, the birds will be circulating at a certain level to where they'll see them.
And then they see the bird.
And they can probably get some rare ones on their tally and they make it count.
Like, oh, I saw this bird.
I saw this bird.
They take boats, trains, planes, automobiles.
Yeah, yeah.
So that's a good movie, too.
and Steve Martin's in this one and that one.
That's right. He is.
Yes. So I, you know.
Amy, I'm not hating. I think that sounds cool.
No, it sounds like you're hating.
Y'all are hating.
I didn't say anything.
I'll admit I hated.
You know, sometimes you take a little nap and you wake up.
You know what time it is.
That's probably what just happened.
I'm just saying there was some beautiful birds.
I didn't even know existed.
And I'm like, if I ever get to see one of those, it's going to be awesome.
Like these owls that are just so beautiful.
Can't wait.
Man, I got under a deer blind once.
there was a mama owl with three baby owls and she wanted to kill me. Yeah, owls are no joke.
Like cute and all, but wanted to kill me. Not cool. All right. Well, listen, I can feel everybody
rushing away to download this movie or stream it. So I'm going to... The bird thing. Yeah.
So everybody's leaving anyway, so we might as well wrap this up. Right? I mean, I guess so.
Yeah. All right. Thank you guys. Enjoy the show. I guess maybe you have enjoyed the show. It depends.
Some of you listened the wrong way.
Some of you already stopped listening because I was talking.
Yeah. All right. Thank you. Have a good day. Bye, everybody.
Bye.
