Starting point is 00:03:26 Morning studio. Morning. Amy, how are you? Doing good. How about you? Good. I don't know. Do you sleep?
Starting point is 00:03:33 Good last night or no? I mean, I slept okay. Tried to take a bath to, like, calm down, but, I mean, not sleeping my best. You take a bath to calm down? I did last night. Took an Epson salt bath. People keep telling me about Epson salt. I just imagine getting into a bathtub with a bunch of salt packets.
Starting point is 00:03:50 I don't even know what Epson salt is. No, no. Well, whatever, the minerals or whatever is in that salt is very, I know why they're telling you because you're dancing and you're sore and you're working out of a lot. It's really good for your muscles and relaxing your body. body. But again, really, can I just not pour salt on myself dry? Why don't I get in the Epstein salt bath?
Starting point is 00:04:12 Give me a break. How long does that take? It seems like I'm cooking myself in a stew. So, 20 minutes. Put some carrots in there. The reason I ask about your sleep, according to a new study, sleeping too much is just as bad as sleeping too little, which gives me something else to worry about. Great.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Great. The researchers found that people who slept for four or five hours a night would perform on tests like their brains were way older but they saw the same effect on people who slept for 10 hours or more night so I guess you have to get that sweet spot of between like six and a half and eight and a half and everybody's is different
Starting point is 00:04:48 I just need to be told what to do you know I just need to be told what's right for me okay I feel like based on this and I've always heard eight hours is the sweet spot But, I mean, you'd have to, like, put pause on a lot of things in your life to get eight hours. I'm talking to you or to me? To you?
Starting point is 00:05:08 Oh, there's no way. I don't know. Yeah, there's no way. Like, you can't get it, but you've got to maybe find a way. And I think sleep is the most important thing you could possibly get. But, yeah, I'm probably averaging about four and a half right now. Yeah. And it's not healthy.
Starting point is 00:05:22 That's like what the president gets. Well, some would say that I'm the president of dance right now from being honest with you. All right. Everybody good? Like, we all right? see Amy did something kind of nutty speaking of not sleeping she left her car running for a whole long talk about that coming up you good with that yeah yeah it is what it is it is what it is appreciate everybody let's get going here it is Thursday's bobby bone show lunchbox you get over there
Starting point is 00:05:45 good yeah yeah looking good i mean i got my five hours of sleep i'm feeling good five five what do you have going on you sleep all day well i sleep in shifts at night i sleep for five hours and i take a three hour nap in the middle of the day so you do get your solid eight i get my solid eight but just not altogether. Why not get it all together? I don't have time. Oh, stop it. What's this taking up your time?
Starting point is 00:06:05 I mean, there's so much TV to watch and I got a baby to feed. I mean, I got so much going. I got co-ed soccer. I got a lot of stuff. Hmm. And think about that co-ed soccer. Yeah. The Bobby Bone Show.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Big three stories. It's producer Ramundo. Hurricane Michael hit the Florida panhandle. It made landfall outside of Panama City as a category four hurricane. Hundreds of thousands of people are without power. roads are flooded tons of homes are destroyed it's also bringing rain to georgia and the carolinas to help out just text red cross to 90999 i be born amy you let your car running in the hospital parking garage for a long time wait how long long long time hours wait what yeah i i honestly
Starting point is 00:06:51 don't know where my brain was but i just i walked back up to the parking garage when i was going back to car and I saw that it looked like the headlights were on and I was like oh that's weird I left the lights on well as I get closer I'm like what's that noise I'm like oh sounds like the car's running and then I open the door and it's freezing cold because the air conditioner was on like full blast and just sitting there no one was in there and I was like okay sweet yeah definitely let the car on and I had the keys with me the entire time I'm driving my dad's car and I don't know if it's just that I'm not used to the car or what but definitely parked had my keys in the car, went all the way into the hospital, keys still with me, and the card
Starting point is 00:07:32 stayed running. I don't think anybody could have opened it and put it in reverse without having the keys with them, but the car never turned off. Huh. Haven't you done that before? Yeah, years ago, I think probably about five years ago when I was getting my hair done, my entire hair appointment, my car was running. Yeah, I was late.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So I remember that. I was late and I was in a hurry, and I think I just stopped. out of the car and went in, she did my hair, and then two and a half hours later, went back out, car was still running. This one, I think I was just spacey and tired and it was an emotional day. I have no idea. But I wasn't, honestly, I wasn't that shocked. When I got out there, and I realized it had been running that entire time, I was like,
Starting point is 00:08:14 you know what? Not surprised, so I just laughed it off. I mean, I still had gas, the car's working fine. We're all good. You're amazing. You are absolutely amazing. What? Well, it's fine, right?
Starting point is 00:08:27 It happens to people. Tell me y'all never left your car running. Never. Never. Ever? For hours? Even for 10 minutes, I don't think. I was trying to think, have I ever just walked off and left the car running?
Starting point is 00:08:40 I don't. Only maybe once or twice I've ever left my lights on. Yeah. Much less leave my car running for hours. Yeah. Listen, you got a lot on your plate right now. It happens. And even when you didn't have a lot on your plate, you did it too, to be fair.
Starting point is 00:08:54 But, yeah, the hair thing, I definitely was in a hurry. this thing I think I was just having a spacey day Are a lot of the nurses there Listeners of the show Were your dad? Yeah there's some Yeah there's some that have even
Starting point is 00:09:07 Come up to me and been like Hey happy Joy Week You know my husband and I are celebrating Or my family and I Are doing things But they yeah They come up and say That they're fans of the show
Starting point is 00:09:19 And they've been listening Some people have been listening Since they were like in junior high And now they're nurse Yeah Oh that's so weird Because this show This show started when I was 22 years old.
Starting point is 00:09:30 And so I'm 38 now. So that's 16 years. And listen, we're not super long in the tooth right now, but we still have. We've been around a while. Yeah, we've been around a while. And so you've got to think if we've been on, and Amy, you've been with me for how long? 12. 12 and a half years?
Starting point is 00:09:47 Lunchbox? 15 years. I mean, you got to think, a 15 year old is now 30. I met someone when we were in. Vegas for the I Heart Festival. She was at the concert or whatever, and she said, I started listening to you in sixth grade. I'm now 26.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Okay. Listen, we did get started young. To be fair, we've been together the whole time. If you're new to this show, I just started the show, and these are all my friends at work here. And I tell people that sometimes in California, I've been out doing this TV show. And they're like, so where'd you hire all your people?
Starting point is 00:10:17 I'm like, what are you talking about? These are all my friends. We don't get paid. No, you got to get paid. Oh, we get paid. I wouldn't be here free. Listen. I mean, bad chance.
Starting point is 00:10:26 He kind of was here for free for a while. I think we all worked. Let's be real. We all worked really cheap for a while. But yeah, that's what the show is. It's me and all my friends, and then we've all just been together forever. Eddie, how long have you, how long have you and I been friends, though? Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Probably 11 years? Yeah. Maybe 12? Like Ray Mundo was an intern. Yeah. And how long have you total been with the show? Probably seven years. Mike D is the newest.
Starting point is 00:10:48 And Mike D, you were an intern, and how long have you been with the show? Nine years. Wow. We're like Garth's band. Yeah. It's like where it is all? Oh, is that good? Not in that sense.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Yeah, yeah. Thanks for waking up with us. No, but it is cool when Garth is like, oh, here's my guitar player. I've been with me for 25, 30 years. Like, all of his band members just to explain that have been with him a really long time. Yeah, my goal is to keep you guys around. Yeah. Long as possible.
Starting point is 00:11:13 That's our goal, too. The latest from Nashville in Hollywood. It's the 32nd Skinny. Eric Church posted an acoustic version of his song, Hippie Radio from his new album, Desperate Man. Here's a clip. The Grandal Opry held a special tribute night to Ray Charles. It was hosted by Darius Rucker with performances by Brett Eldridge, Cam, Boys to Men, and more. Florida Georgia Line has a bus they lease just for songwriting while they're on tour.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Their songwriting record on the bus is 14 songs. in four days. I'm Morgan number two. That's the Skinny. It's time for the good news. With Bobby. Tell me something good. When I was a kid, I used to collect cans.
Starting point is 00:12:07 I'm talking about six, seven, eight years old because I couldn't work work yet. So what I'd do is I go walk around the neighborhood and collect aluminum cans and I would just save them up. And I remember once I bought two encyclopedia books because you had to buy them separately. I couldn't afford the whole set. And outside of Pigley Wiggly, the guy would be selling encyclopedias. So I remember I saved up all summer about two encyclopedia editions. And then I did another year and I bought Connect 4.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Oh, wow. Yeah. It's a good game. That's a good game. I was pretty solid. I was pretty dominant at Connect 4. But I would save up all the cans and I'd take them in a bag. And I was reading this story about a Canadian woman.
Starting point is 00:12:43 She spent the last 21 years collecting bottles and cans. And she made $15,000 from bottles and cans. Wow. And she donated it all to the Cancer Foundation, the BC Cancer Foundation. That's awesome. Yeah. The bottles in cans, just clap your hands. Just clap your hands.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Where's that? Nice. Boom, I got two turntables and a microphone. Where is that? I thought you guys were really making a song. I got two turntables and a microphone. That's a great song, lunchbox. That's old school back, too.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Yeah. Anyway, good for her. That's tell me something good. Bobby Bones show. Bonehead. Norrie up the day. This story comes to us from Des Moines, Washington. A woman walked into a safe way and tried to buy $5,000 in prepaid visa gift cards.
Starting point is 00:13:25 She pulled out $100 bill, $100 bill. Only problem on the front of the $100 bill said, Made in China, made in China, made in China. That's funny. So they called police and she was arrested. There you go. On Lunchbox, that's your Bonehead story of the day. Folks, it's your buddy and my...
Starting point is 00:13:42 Mr. Bobby Bones. You know, we could have a champion today. We've been playing this game for a few weeks now. It's called Amy versus Lunchbox. What I do is I ask Amy three questions that dudes would know the answer to for the most part and Lunchbox gets three questions that women would know the answer to. And we decided we were going to play 210.
Starting point is 00:14:15 The score is Amy 9, Lunchbox 8. If Amy wins, she's the champion. I'm going to hold the song for now. I know. I know. I know. Amy, are you ready for question number one? Ready. Amy versus Lunchbox.
Starting point is 00:14:30 And away we go. Amy, this week, Drew Bree set the NFL record for career passing yard. Who's record did he break? Oh, come on. Man, oh. I was just telling my dad about this. Drew Breeze set the NFL record for career passing yards.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Whose record did he break? Golly, he broke. Tom Brady's record. Tom Brady. Show me Tom Brady. No. Lunchbox, you can steal the point. Yeah, Peyton Manning.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Peyton Manning is correct. Amy. Yeah. There are four teams left in the Major League Baseball postseason. Name one. Just one. The Yankees. Oh, they just lost.
Starting point is 00:15:25 They're out. So close. Lunchbox, name one. Dodgers. Brewers. Astros. Red Sox. There you go.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Show off. He does a sports podcast. Yeah, I know. By the way, called the Soar Losers podcast. You can download that. All right, Amy, ready? Ready. The wrestling video game, WWE 2K19, came out this week.
Starting point is 00:15:50 What does WWE stand for? World Wrestling Entertainment. There it is. Nice. Yeah, walk through that one. Okay. Okay. Lunchbox, you're up on Amy.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Two to one. Yeah. You get three questions meant for most females will get them right. Yeah, correct. You ready? Yep. A presser foot, feed dog, and spool pin are parts of what? Sewing kit.
Starting point is 00:16:34 You can't give him that? He's saying no. All right? I look to Mike do the judge and he shook his head and no. Amy, do you want to steal that one? Yes. Go ahead? Sewing machine.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Correct. Yeah. I don't think a kit in a machine are the same thing. Because of sewing kit, I get one of those, one of those little boxes with threads. You get him in a hotel. Yeah. Sorry, it's not too. Boy, I don't know about that. I don't know about that one.
Starting point is 00:16:59 No, I do. All right, when you said it, I was like, not a kit. It's a machine. Lunchbox. What is Carrie Underwood's son's name? Oh, I have no idea. Carter. Carter Underwood.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Amy, you can steal. Go ahead. Doesn't know it. Oh, no. I do know it, but now I'm second-guessing. Isaiah? Isaiah. She's shaking her head and no.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Are you confident or no? I just, I feel, I know that I know it, but I just, I don't know. Show me Isaiah. Ah. Thank goodness. If you get this one, you win today, and it goes to tomorrow the final match. Okay? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:43 All you have to do is nail this one. Oh, Amy's up three, two? Oh, never mind. You just tie this one. Oh, wow. What actor slash singer is Katie Holmes dating? Jamie Fox. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Now, don't mess of me. I know that one. I know my Katie Holmes trivia. Amy, we're in sudden death. Tiebreaker. On an 18-wheel trailer, how many wheels are generally on the trailer? Okay, hold on. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. I mean, why would it be called an 18 wheeler if there's not 18? You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:18:29 An 18-wheel tractor-trailer, how many wheels are generally on the trailer? The trailer? Yeah. Is that the whole thing? On an 18-wheel track... I'm just reading you the question here. On an 18-wheel tractor-trailer, how many wills are generally on the trailer? 12.
Starting point is 00:18:43 She says 12. Show me 12! No! Lunchbox, steal. Oh, I can steal? Go ahead. Oh, yeah. 14.
Starting point is 00:18:51 No. The answer's eight. Now, you can win right now, lunchbox, for this answer. I don't think you can steal luncheon. I don't think you can. I don't think you can't. Lunchbox, are you ready? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:59 What would you be shopping for if you were in Ulta, the store Ulta? Oh, that's easy. Beauty products. How do you feel about that? It's a makeup store. Do you need more specific? Go ahead. You can't say beauty products, any more specific?
Starting point is 00:19:14 Then just beauty products, go ahead. Makeup. Tomorrow for the championship. Amy, how do you feel? I feel like I'm going to have to bring it tomorrow. You got to bring it tomorrow. All right, tomorrow, tomorrow. Amy, how do you feel about like Netflix addiction?
Starting point is 00:20:01 I mean, I think it, I mean, I see it. Do you though really? Or is it just people who love shows? Well, Netflix has created a space where we binge. I mean, binging wasn't really a thing until Netflix. And we can get addicted to shows. Well, it was drinking. It was a thing.
Starting point is 00:20:19 I mean binge watching a show. A 26-year-old man had. to check himself into a mental health clinic due to his Netflix addictions. I mean... That's what I'm saying, right? It's just so new that I don't know yet. But I mean, if he feels really addicted and he thinks he needs help, I mean... Yeah, you're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:20:43 I just read the headline and go, huh. Apparently, he was watching seven hours of shows every single day. Oh, wow. And it had gone on for more than six months. That's roughly 1,300 hours of Netflix viewing. So his body was breaking. down. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Severe eye strain. Insomnia. According to the doctors, he may have developed the addiction because he was unemployed and turned on Netflix as a means of escape. So he just isn't having to do. That's what I see. And then you just want to know what happens next on Dawson's Creek. Like it's a combination of the two.
Starting point is 00:21:17 But like when you're addicted to something, it's like, okay, I got to have another drink or I got to have another puff on my cigarette. Or I got to have, I got to do this. So that was probably him. He was like, he had to have more. I had to have more Netflix. He couldn't stop. I just wonder what show it was, though, too.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Some shows maybe about a little more addicting. What's the show that you watched where you had to watch the next episode? Like, what is that show to you when you go? Oh, I was kind of... Oh, well, the latest that that happened to me was Ozark on Netflix. Season 2? Yeah. Can stop.
Starting point is 00:21:47 I even told my husband I would wait for him and I didn't. Oh, that's bad. Wow. It was a lie. That does have more addiction. Like you hide stuff and lie. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Lunchbox? I would say Hands Made Tale and when I watched Breaking Bad, I know it's not, but that was one of those ones where I was like,
Starting point is 00:22:04 okay, I gotta go to no, I got to watch another episode. I got to watch another episode. It was just so good. It drew you in. Yeah, yeah. Breaking Bad?
Starting point is 00:22:11 Yeah. Yeah. Handmaid's tail, though, is one for that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, same. I'm just saying with Handmaid's Tale,
Starting point is 00:22:17 yeah, you like can't wait to get home so you can watch it. That one was so dark. Like, I had to be in the right place. I once watched Handmaid's tale right before a comedy show because I was doing stand-up and it's a really dark show
Starting point is 00:22:26 and I walked out and I was like ugh I'm supposed to make people laugh I feel disgusting about myself Game of Thrones would do that to me because it would be such this epic ending and they would leave you with like
Starting point is 00:22:37 oh I wonder what's going to happen next and I know you guys don't watch Game of Thrones but that one was good oh there's just so Dexter I would watch Dexter and I would be like
Starting point is 00:22:48 that's the jam you know that's a good well okay anything you watched recently you started recently? Because I started the center, season two. Jessica Bill will season one, season two. Amy, anything? Dancing with the Stars. Are you going to Dancing with the Stars?
Starting point is 00:23:01 Yeah, that's the one I'm addicted to. Cha, cha, cha, cha. Hey, Mike D. Who's a quiet Mike? It didn't say much. I was talking about the good place. Did you start that show? Yeah, it's really good. It is good place. Yeah, I've been binging that. Okay. I'm going to have to get into that one. It's a Bobby Bone Show. If you call our show, Hillary is our phone screener, so she answers your call, she talks to you for a second.
Starting point is 00:23:21 And some people shall put through to actually get on the show. So that's how you would know her. But Hillary, I'm being told that you keep a weapon that you made in your car? Yes, I do. So what's the weapon? We call it a booger knocker. It's like, it's a wooden stick that we whittled in the woods in our hunting club. What?
Starting point is 00:23:40 What? So it's like a tree, and we cut, like, part of the tree limb, and we whittled it with a knife, and it's just like a little stick. Is this a stick? Does that have a point on the stick? No, we put, like, a... heavy screw on it, so it's a little heavier, and it has a handle and everything. And do you ever walk around with it when you get out of your car just in case? If I go for, like, a hike by myself, maybe, but not like to the store.
Starting point is 00:24:03 And so about this hunting club? Mm-hmm. Which is a new element to her life. I was in a hunting club? We have a family hunting club. I've never hunted or, like, shot anything, but we have a family hunting club in Georgia. So you guys just go and... I go ride around in the trucks with my grandpa.
Starting point is 00:24:19 He hunts. That's cute. You have any weapons name? Yeah, I have an African spear and I have a machete. And I mean, my husband has guns and stuff. And I have a concealed carry permit. Well, I did when I lived in North Carolina. It's state to state.
Starting point is 00:24:35 But I mean, yeah, I have wasp spray. Yeah, excuse me? Wasp spray. Yeah, of course. You can keep that by your bed to attack people. For real. When Amy got her concealed license, she had to do a carry to get a license. So she had to put it in a fanny pack and go walk her.
Starting point is 00:24:52 around with it. We had to be comfortable carrying. Wait, it was anything about comfortable. I waddled. Someone videot her going into the store. You know how it looks like with an old cowboy with a corn cob in his butt? He's walking like, I was so nervous. Amy was wearing a gun in her fanny pack. And she was like walking, decide to side to side. It was the most, it was the weirdest thing. I'd already gotten my certificate at that point. I was just proving to you guys that I
Starting point is 00:25:12 could carry. So I took the video to prove it. I went to a convenience store and I went to pick up pizza. It was so weird. I was like, I'm walking to the pizza place right now and Nobody knows I have a gun in my panty jacket. You know, it just felt like, I was like, I'm going to be that person on the news that accidentally shoots themselves. For sure. We all are waiting for that.
Starting point is 00:25:33 On the video, it was like when you watch a race sometimes and you go, oh, maybe it'd be a cool crash. You know, where nobody gets hurt. You kind of wanted the gun to go off and aim me not to get hurt. You know, nobody to get shot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it didn't. You don't carry anymore, do you?
Starting point is 00:25:45 No, I don't. Legally, I couldn't in the state of Tennessee. But that's why I just stick to my African spear. I know how to charge with it. If you mess with me, I will hold it back. And then if you run with it, like, oh, you're my, I'm going to ram it right into your summit. And you're not going to survive. There's no way that happens in real life.
Starting point is 00:26:05 It could. If someone breaks, what if it's two people? Well, that's when I bust on my machete. I take the spear and then machete. You charge someone, then you pull out the machete from your backpack. I remember that I don't forget about my wasps spray. Amy's to get a bunker of all the wrong tools at her house. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:26:28 Now a quick round of, never going to get it. The average man spends 140 days of his life doing this. That's total. 33,000 hours or 140 days of his life doing this activity
Starting point is 00:26:46 The average man spends 140 days of his life doing this all added up But all the days, 24 hours a day Yeah It's not you do it once A day It's all combined
Starting point is 00:27:01 It's 33,000 hours Or 140 days I'm in Okay Amy since you were first in You can spoil it What is it? Watch football Wow
Starting point is 00:27:08 Oh is that like a personal one My husband She's not happy She's so over football What is it? Well I'm going to tell you when we come back Yeah yeah yeah That is incorrect
Starting point is 00:27:17 The average man spends 140 days of his life doing this. It also breaks down to 33,000 hours. Amy guessed watching football is not it. Lunchbox. Hitting on the ladies. Wow. A lot. That's a lot of misses.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Wow, yeah. Eddie? Working on a car. No. Did I not get it? No, you didn't. The average man spends about 140 days shaving. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Which I do. try to keep no facial hair sometimes a little bit I feel like facial hair makes me like older really? I'm not trying to like older Is it because you have a little bit
Starting point is 00:27:56 of white in there? I got a little bit like I'm a corner you got a lot of white I know I know that thank you must no you're the one taking the first shot
Starting point is 00:28:01 thanks for pointing that out I appreciate that Amy what do you think about facial hair? I like it my husband has a beard he sometimes wants to shave it and I'm like nope
Starting point is 00:28:09 do you control his facial hair like really do you get to make that call yeah good for you all right there you go
Starting point is 00:28:15 and because of that we'll play a song The Bobby Bones show It's time for the good news With Lunchbox Tell me something good About a year ago About a year ago
Starting point is 00:28:27 Mr. Mapp showed up at the Nick U in Mobile, Alabama Looking to volunteer his time He goes in there and he rocks The babies just spends time with them When the parents aren't there, he comforts him A year later he has donated $1 million To the Nick U Both. You know what? A lot of people don't have $1 million
Starting point is 00:28:44 Most people don't have $1 million. But people can do things like rock babies or long dogs or... Yeah, he said he wanted his legacy to keep going if he died, so a million dollars to the Nick you and the babies. Awesome. That was Tell Me Something Good. It's an hour long in studio concert. With Old Dominion. Your week. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:30:09 It is my pleasure to bring in some of the guys that, man, they are so good. Let me say a few things before I bring them in officially. Old Dominion. They went number one with their last single. Man, last two singles. How many singles? I mean, number one, do you guys have in a row now?
Starting point is 00:30:23 I'm trying to look at this list here. Come on. You haven't brought us in yet. Are we supposed to be talking about? Yeah, you're in. You're in secretly right now. Five in a row? Someone's holding up five.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Yeah. Five in a row, the last one being hotel. Hey, clap your hands for Old Dominion, everybody, right here. That's what's talking about. Thank you. Matthew, how are you, buddy? Good, man. I'm doing good. How about you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:44 You know, I think I'm pretty good. I always wondered because you guys come in and it's such a group atmosphere. Sometimes groups come in and, you know, one guy talks the whole time. That's really not the case with you guys. I've got to know you guys individually. So, Trevor, I'll ask you this question. If you guys go out to eat, all of you, who picks up the bill if it's just the band out?
Starting point is 00:31:05 I'll do it every once in a while. Matt will do it every once in a while. We kind of spread it around. If just the band's out, usually the band picks it. Actually, I was going to say, we put it on the band card. We have a band card. And sometimes if it's four of us, we'll look at each other and go, should we band card it if one guy's missing?
Starting point is 00:31:19 And then we usually go, yeah, fine, that other guy won't mind. What would you guys like to start us off with first? I think we're starting with those things of broken heart. Yeah. Sounds good to me. Clap your hands for Old Dominion, everybody. Here we go. Hey, guys, so because of licensing roles,
Starting point is 00:31:34 we can't play anything with music on this iHeartRadio channel or podcast anymore. But you can go to bobbybones.com to see it. We hate that we had to take it down. It wasn't our decision, but I just wanted to keep you up, and we wanted to keep up as much as possible. So go to bobbybones.com to watch or hear whatever you're missing right now,
Starting point is 00:31:51 and thank you for listening to the show, and sorry about all the legal stuff. There they are. The guys from Old Dominion, this. Waking up early, playing his songs. I love it. You know that video you guys posted on Twitter? You may have posted on Instagram, too,
Starting point is 00:32:12 but the one where you guys are playing, The Wild Horse when no one was in there? Yeah, yeah. Who held on to that video for that long? It's actually, I found it on YouTube. Someone posted it on YouTube, yeah. So someone else had a video of you guys. It's the dancers that posted.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Yeah, it's the people that were dancing, yeah. Oh, that older couples one who posted it? Yeah. And they were like from Germany or Spain or something. They were definitely not from the U.S. And they came over. Oh, what a little treasure. Yeah, it was really cool.
Starting point is 00:32:42 I remember talking to that. them, you know, afterwards. They were super sweet people. So, for those that don't know I'm talking about, Old Dominion, I posted a video and it was the band, and all you see in this entire room and floor are two people dancing. I guess nobody knew who you guys were, right?
Starting point is 00:32:58 Yeah, definitely not. We didn't even know who we were. Yeah, yeah. Were you even Old Dominion then? No. I'm not sure. I don't think we were. Yeah, yeah. I don't think we didn't have the name yet. That was back in the day when we'd play the Wild Horse Saloon and they would sometimes like the person that was introducing us would ask who we were before we went on stage
Starting point is 00:33:16 and we would just make up names for the shows and they would go out and say, so we had a bunch of different names. But the best was fried eagle is when we told the girl we were fried eagle. She went out there and introduced this as fun. So we may have been fried eagle that night. I don't know. I thought it was an awesome video. And you were playing Garth in that video.
Starting point is 00:33:33 And they were telling you guys are going to play a Garth song today. Is that true? Yeah, we thought maybe we would try to get through that one. I don't know if we played that one. since then, but I thought maybe we would try that one. It was that summer, right? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:46 All right. Which we affectionately call leather hands because of that line in the song, which is kind of gross. He watched her hands of leather. The whole song is creepy. Just a touch. We were talking about what we were going to play. I was like, let's play that summer.
Starting point is 00:34:02 But I was like, what's that summer? It's leather hands. He's like, oh, okay. Oh, leather hands. Here they are. Joy Week, our friends from Old Dominion. everybody. Clap your hands.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Here we go. The Flap and bones. It's an hour long in studio concert. With Old Dominion. Your week. All right, we're back with Old Dominion, our buds. Clap your hands, everybody. Because here we go to have some live music all hour.
Starting point is 00:34:25 Thank you. Thank you. Like, that's for me. That's not clapping for me. Hey, I got a question for you. Matt, when did you guys go, hey, this is actually a thing? Like, you had a hit?
Starting point is 00:34:35 Was it before I hit? When you got a record deal? Like, when was Old Dominion? And you guys's mind, when you sat together privately, a thing? Right. I think when we won the ACM award, that was when we were like, oh, this is actually a thing because it feels like you're kind of just goofing off the whole time and somehow like someone is allowing you to be there. But when we won that award, it sort of forced us to kind of own it a little bit. So for me, that's honestly when we really felt like we'd done something. I will also say back in the day we played break up with them up in Toronto at some festival.
Starting point is 00:35:09 and we didn't know that many people knew that song, but 20,000 people sing it back to us. And that's when we looked at each other on stage and we're like, what is happening right now? Yeah, that sounds like a cool moment, huh? Yeah, for sure. It was like, oh, brother, we're out there when they're playing the song.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Everyone knows it and they're looking at each other like, what? Old Dominion's here. Hey, let's do Written in the Sand. Can you guys do that one? Yeah, absolutely. All right. Old Dominion in studio here is one of my favorites
Starting point is 00:35:33 written in the sand. So y'all are here for Joy Week, obviously, And so I thought, you know, joy week for us and Pimpin Joy is all about spreading joy to others, choosing joy for yourself. And so I thought we'd get everybody in the Old Dominion involved. Matthew, we can start with you and then do a quick game of popcorn. Y'all just have to say one thing that brings you joy. So let's do a little game of like, we'll call it gratitude popcorn. Like you just pop to the next person and just something that gives me joy.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Something that brings you joy. So like you can just practice that gratitude. and feeling that joy right now. Sure. My kids. That's a good one. Puppies. Puppies.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Well, Matthew's still mine. My kids give you, my kids give you joy. Your kids, I just, my kids are pretty cool, but your kids are amazing. I'll go with, since I can't go with kids, that's your answer. I'll go with crossword puzzles. Oh, that's awesome. I'll do a nice crisp seven iron onto the green. How about playing music?
Starting point is 00:36:35 Playing music. Okay, that's a good one. Is it a crisp seven-out? Iron? Yeah, what is that? You don't play golf, man. Like, there are seven seven irons that aren't crisp.
Starting point is 00:36:45 Oh, yeah. No. The shot. Oh, got you. The shot. Do y'all go golf? Like, what are you? Y'all go golf as a group?
Starting point is 00:36:52 Like, they do. This is Trevor. Me and Brad and Witt have become obsessed with it. Okay. So, but legit question too, because y'all are always together. Do you all hang out legit? Like, if it's a Friday night and you all have off, I mean, obviously, have families.
Starting point is 00:37:06 But let's say you're trying to. If it's a Tuesday night. Okay, sorry. Bad day of the week. It was just, hypothetically speaking, let's say you had a day off and you're trying to rally the buddies to go do something. Like, would y'all be who you would choose to hang out with or do you need a break? Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I think that's why we have stayed together and this has worked so long as because we started as friends and somehow we still are. Yeah. Sometimes after like a three week run, you need a little bit. Yeah, but then it takes like about eight hours before the text messages start going. What are you guys doing? Oh, I bet y'all's group texts get pretty obnoxious. We can't show you them. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Well, I know. I can't remember who said. Somebody said music brings joy, which, yes. Okay, so we're all about that. And do you all have any, can y'all play us something new that maybe we haven't heard? Absolutely. We can. What are we going to play?
Starting point is 00:37:59 It's a song that we wrote all five together. We wrote a song called Make It Sweet. Oh, so if this one does a while, you got to split it all five ways. Yep. And Shane McInally. So it's a six way. It actually is, six ways. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:11 It's an hour long in studio concert. With Old Dominion. Your week. How awesome is this, Ayn? Pretty amazing. Yeah, right. Having some of our favorite guys in here. It definitely, there's a lot of people in the room, a lot's happening, but it makes it more fun.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Yeah, I agree. And so, we've been asking, say, we're going to play Hotel Key in a minute. But I think it's cool that these guys from Old Dominion, they just write so many awesome songs, too. So let's do a little something special. How you guys feel about save it for a rainy day? Yeah, absolutely. Tell me this story about this song real quick. Man, we wrote this really quick with, Brad and I wrote this song with our buddy, Andrew Dorf,
Starting point is 00:38:48 who's since passed away. But we wrote it in about 45 minutes. And then at 9 a.m.? Yeah, at 9 a.m. And then Kenny recorded it. And it was like, I later found out that they took one pass in the studio with this song. Wow. And they thought, you know, they would never see the light of day.
Starting point is 00:39:06 They just did the one pass. So, like, it's very little time was spent on this song, but it turned into a big hit for us and a special moment for us, too, on tour with Kenny, you know, getting to go out and sing it with him for a couple of years now. We got to go out in stadium stages and sing it with them. It's been an amazing gift. Old Dominion, and here they are, save it for a rainy day.
Starting point is 00:39:29 Hey, guys, so because of licensing roles, we can't play anything with music on this IHeart Radio channel or podcast anymore, but you can go to bobbybones.com to see it. We hate that we had to take it down. It wasn't our decision, but I just wanted to keep you up and we wanted to keep up as much as possible. So go to bobbybones.com to watch or hear
Starting point is 00:39:46 whatever you're missing right now, and thank you for listen to the show, and sorry about all the legal stuff. Right, range? Yeah, yeah, that's a nice, easy song singing in the morning. But now it's the moment. Amy's been waiting for.
Starting point is 00:40:02 That's her favorite song. She's almost stalkerish. She posts about it. This is a song that gets pronounced in the most different ways than any other. What do you mean? People are like Hotel Key or Hotel Key or Hotel Key. Well, how do you all say it? Hotel Key.
Starting point is 00:40:20 Hotel key. Hotel key. You say Hotel Key. It's like you're like even the whole way. Okay. Hotel key. Wait, hold on. Are my posts too much?
Starting point is 00:40:31 No, please continue to post about how much you love our music. Okay, okay. I was trying to. I don't have to laugh through that whole song. Wait, what's so funny? It's like giggling the whole. That's wonderful. I loved it funny like that.
Starting point is 00:40:47 It made a weird noise. You probably didn't even realize he's doing it. Come on. Fellas, fellas, fellas. What is there more to say? Oh, man. Yeah, right? Let me say that, first of all,
Starting point is 00:41:02 we're very thankful that you got the whole band together and came up and played. It meant a lot to us. And, you know, as we do this joy, week and you know it all started with pimp and joy and we continue to push that forward and with this week we're trying to raise money for obviously the military and we try to find different things to do and you guys are are such a big part of what we're able to do especially this week so from me to you guys thank you for volunteering your time and your music and from
Starting point is 00:41:26 amy and for the rest of the show so thank you so much guys absolutely thank you for having us it's and uh you know to another hundred singles in a row you know number one keep on knocking them out our buddies from old dominia clap your hands we'll see you next time and Thank you. Joy week is on The Bobby Bowles Show. It's time for the good news. With Amy.
Starting point is 00:41:46 Tell me something good. So there's a five-month-old baby that is becoming the youngest member of the all 50 states club, which means this baby has visited all 50 states. As parents, like, we're going to road trip across America anyway. They're from Australia.
Starting point is 00:42:05 But once they found out their baby could break a record, they were like, all right, we're going to knock this thing out. Huh. Wait, so the baby started when it was born or in the belly? Does it count on the belly? No, it doesn't count. No, the baby was born. No, it was outside the belly. And the baby's been in all 50 states? Yeah, well, they're on the last leg of the trip now, which is Vermont. They're finishing up. That's their 50th state. That's the last state? I think it would be like Alaska. I'd never been to Alaska. It seems like it'd be awesome.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Lunch you've been, huh? It is amazing. Nothing but nature and bears and woods and mountains and glaciers. So cool. Ami you been for last? No, it's on my bucket list, though. What's your husband stationed there? My husband lived there as a kid because his dad was stationed there. So he lived there and loved it as a kid because it was daylight all the time. Boy, that would be crazy now. That sounds like the absolute worst thing.
Starting point is 00:42:56 All daylight all the time right now. I would just like to go to sleep all the time. Like, give me all nighttime. Yeah. So I could live up there like six months out of the year. What are you going to say? Oh, I mean, he just liked it as a kid because he could play all the time. I just want to sleep.
Starting point is 00:43:09 All the time. All right, is that it? Yep. There you go. That was tell me something good. Folks, it's your buddy and mine. Mr. Bobby Bones. Let me know.
Starting point is 00:43:20 Transmitting across America. This is the Bobby Boll. Lunchbox, what's the latest with the hurricane? Oh, it's in the Carolinas near Columbia, South Carolina, with 50-mile-an-hour winds right now. And they're saying it's going to be flooding in South Carolina, North Carolina, and maybe Virginia. and when it made landfall yesterday,
Starting point is 00:43:43 it was the third strongest storm in the history of the United States. So what we're doing as a show is watching, and you really can't do a lot as it's happening. So we have to kind of wait for it to be over and to move through before we can even, as a show, address what's going on and see how we can help.
Starting point is 00:44:02 So we're watching. We're thinking about a lot of our listeners that are going through this right now and dealing with it. Anything else, lunch? They said just early estimates, they think the damage is going to be around $30 billion. I don't, I mean, that's a huge number, but I don't know what to compare that to.
Starting point is 00:44:15 It's one of the 10 costliest natural disasters in U.S. history. That includes everything, huh? Yep. So, like you guys that are listening to the show right now, we obviously care about our people. So we'll wait through it and then see where the help is needed. Right, Am? Yeah. I mean, obviously, we want to try to help any of we can.
Starting point is 00:44:38 Right now, thoughts and prayers and all that to everybody. Like, I just can't even imagine being. in the path of that. Helpless. Yeah. Nothing you can do. I mean, that's popped up quick.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Yeah. Like, it was just all of a sudden, boom, and then it was on land and tearing stuff up. Yes, we'll keep watching, and when we can help, we will help, and we'll ask you if you'd like to help,
Starting point is 00:45:01 and just, that's kind of how we roll and just want to give everybody an idea what we're thinking here in the show. We can move off of that. Amy was, I guess, talking to a friend who's, is it her husband or boyfriend is all funny right now. Boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Dating. Okay, so what's the story? Dating pretty heavily, like lots of dates, lots of contact, texting, thinking she's, you know, got something going on with them, seems really into it. And then hunting season starts, and boom, he kind of falls off the map. So what's our concern? Well, our concern is, like, what? Was he really into me, or maybe he's still into me, but he's just way more into hunting? So should she just expect that?
Starting point is 00:45:41 She's never dated a hunter before. So apparently different states have different, the seasons start at different times. And he's so into hunting that he even goes from state to state for different start days. So he's just been less. If it's October 11th, it's got to be duck hunting, huh? Did you say that or no? I don't know what kind of animals he's hunting. Maybe not.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Let's say, hold on. We have an expert here. Arkansas Keith is on the phone right now. There he is. Hey, good morning. Good morning. How are you, Arkansas Keith? My old stepdad, he's on an.
Starting point is 00:46:11 avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, you name it. He's probably doing it right now, as a matter of fact. Where are you right now? I'm in the woods. I'm in the woods right now. Okay. And so what are you hunting this morning? I'm squirrel hunting this morning.
Starting point is 00:46:25 And what season would you say it is in most places right now? It's probably archery deer, squirrel, those kind of things. Archery deer hunting, I'm sure, is in most states. So did you hear what Amy was saying about that guy? I did. Okay. What are your thoughts in that? Well, you know, you can go overboard on it for sure, but you know, you know, my daughter
Starting point is 00:46:46 Kelly, what a city girl she is, and she married a guy that really wasn't a hunter, but he got into hunting, and she's finally accepting it, you know. He goes weekend fishing trips and hunting and those kind of things, so, you know, you just have to bear with it and learn to enjoy it. So what would you say to her, because she's dating this guy, and he hunts and he just disappears. Should she take it personally, or is that what hunters do? That's just what hunters do, you know? I mean, he could be doing a lot worse things, I'm thinking.
Starting point is 00:47:17 That's right. That's true. That's true. And you know, in the wood, you're not really missing up too bad. I mean, you know, and let you do some hunting by the way. But I'm thinking, you know, hunting is relaxation and maybe she should try going with him some, too. That's an idea. Amy, ever think about that?
Starting point is 00:47:36 Maybe she should try going with him some. He hasn't invited her. He hasn't invited her How do you feel about that? He hasn't invited her Oh, he hasn't invited her? No Well, she should invite herself
Starting point is 00:47:51 There you have it Okay And then see what happens there All right I mean And I guess he's right He could be doing worse things Yeah
Starting point is 00:48:00 Well hey so what's happening with you You're out this morning in the woods Yeah just enjoy the morning You know the world is cool off a lot So it's great morning out here I'm enjoying it. You kill any squirrels? A couple.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Got my 20s hair out. I'm just shot a couple of squirrels. Yeah. Eddie? Just curious, I never went squirrel hunting. What do you do with the squirrels? Do you stuff them, taxidermium or anything? No, you eat them.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Are you giving them away? Yeah, I give them away to some people. You know, people, there's a lot of people like squirrels. I'm not really fond of them, but a lot of folks do. You know how it is around this country. You don't taxidermy squirrels. I'm not familiar with squirrels. It was a legit question.
Starting point is 00:48:36 Okay, sorry, it probably was. I'm just so familiar with squirrels. You would never waste your money on tagos dermis squirrel. I guess unless it was a humongous squirrel, right? Squirrel and dumpins, you know, and spryed squirrel is a thing in Arkansas, right? All the old-timers know about it. It's just something losing value as you go. Young people don't do it, a lot of the old guys still hunt squirrel, and a lot of people
Starting point is 00:49:00 still eat them too, so. There you have it. That's cool. Hey, did you get a chance to see the dance, my dances last week? I did. And did you think I danced good or no? You did very good. very good. A lot of compliments
Starting point is 00:49:11 on you. Did you vote? Of course I did. Hey, hey, come on. Come on. Come on. It's all cute. Come on. Hey, I gave Mountain Pine a big old shout out. Oh, you did. We appreciate it, man. We appreciate it a lot. They said there were more people in the ballroom than there are in the population of Mountain Pine, my hometown.
Starting point is 00:49:31 I heard that. I heard that. That's crazy, isn't it? Yeah, that's crazy. Well, listen. I'll let you get back to the woods. Where in the woods are you? What part of the town are you in? I'm down on our creek, right on the side of the dam. There you go. You know where that is, Bob? I do.
Starting point is 00:49:44 I do know it. I just live right around there. You're not far from the house. All right. Hey, thanks for talking to us. Appreciate you. We'll talk to you soon, right? All right.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Take care around. All right, there he is. The old stepdad, Arkansas, Keith. Let's take this one. Hey, Melissa in Nashville. How are you? Hey, you doing good. Hey, what do you want to say?
Starting point is 00:50:02 I was just going to say that my husband hunts every week in that something's in season. And what I've learned is that there's almost always some sort of hunting or fishing in season. So, well, okay, let me, I'm hearing you. Yes, something's always in season. But you get a little more passionate about certain things. For example, when I was hunting a lot, I liked going duck hunting because it was fast. I fell in the water a couple times. It wasn't good.
Starting point is 00:50:27 But I like going, because it was just a f f and it's like da-da-da-da-da. And then you could argue over who shot the duck. And you know, you never really knew, although I knew it wasn't me, really. and with deer deer were tough because A lot of waiting It's just still hunting
Starting point is 00:50:41 Just sit And just sit And you just get cold So Me I was more of a bigfoot hunter Oh Yeah that's such for a bigfoot Really?
Starting point is 00:50:50 Yeah yeah yeah yeah Hey thank you Melissa for the call Thank you for that Appreciate that Yeah And it doesn't bother you that much Married for six years So I've learned to get used to it
Starting point is 00:51:02 And like you said So like dove hunting He'll usually go out once deer he'll go out a little bit more. It just, like you said, depends on what season he's more passionate about. And for me, now my dancing with the stars, I'm like, it's dancing with the star season,
Starting point is 00:51:16 so I'm not doing anything tonight. Like, you've got kid duty, you've got dinner duty, like, this is my hunting. That's funny. Love that. Hey, listen, on Monday night, what's today's Thursday? Monday night I'm dancing to, you can't touch this.
Starting point is 00:51:30 By MC Hammer. I mean, it's a struggle. It's a struggle. Is it? Oh. I feel like you'd have a lot of fun with it. It's not about fun. It's, it's, it's, I'm doing the cha-cha-cha, the cha-cha.
Starting point is 00:51:41 One of the, the cha. I don't know. They're sure. And it's half like cha-cha, but then half this. You have to do the cha-cha to get the points from the judges. So it's like, one, two, chach-cha-cha. And it's all, and then you have to break into the hammer dance, and back to the ch-cha-cha.
Starting point is 00:51:54 And have two girls. You think me dance on one girl's tough? I have to dance with two girls. I'm having to turn on boat. So I think this, this week's out they're going to be great or just terrible. But I appreciate you watching, and thanks for calling a voting and everything. That's really nice of you.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Oh, yeah. I do all my votes, and I do all of his vote for you. Yeah. But thank you. That's very kind of you. Have a nice day. See you later. You too.
Starting point is 00:52:19 All right. My left foot is so swollen. I was barefoot all week, and I just keep dancing on it. You can't touch this. Break it down. Kids don't even know. Morgan number two of your 25. Do you even know this song?
Starting point is 00:52:41 Yes, I know this song. know this song? Yeah. Okay. Do you know the hammer pants? And you know the anything about that? Yeah. Aren't they like the parachute pants? Yeah. So he made him cool way back in the day. I was so young, but it was a thing. You're the best and nothing under it. And he did Taco Bell commercial. He had the MC Hammer cartoon. Yeah, he was pop culture huge. Huge. All right, there it is. Last night we had this event where I volunteer for musicians on call. And so they had a big event and they were like, hey, come out. We want to give you an award. which is always kind of awkward for me because I'd rather give the awards than be given an award.
Starting point is 00:53:18 But I had to go up and I was a little uncomfortable. However, my high school football coach showed up. It surprised me. He drove up seven hours or so. Amazing. Yeah, it really was awesome. I was touched by it. And so Eddie was there.
Starting point is 00:53:33 Mike D. was there. Sharn and my dance partner was there. There were a lot of people that I cared about with me. So that was cool. Yeah. And he came out. and I can play something I'm talking last night. This is my high school football coach, Coach Gandalf,
Starting point is 00:53:46 which by the way, let me say, there was little athletic skill with me, even in high school. And I was a decent player, but it was only because I showed up first and left last. That's it. Yeah. I just outworked everybody.
Starting point is 00:53:58 I'm not acting like, you know, I'm Antonio Brown. Because you're not. I'm not. And I played wide receiver. So here's my high school football coach. Body led by example, simply could. Can't work people.
Starting point is 00:54:11 I believe this carried over to his adult life, where he became a very successful, I hear, radio books, a writer and now also a dancer. Well, what comes with success, Bobby, is power. And you can use that power from good, or you can use it for evil. Bobby chose to give back and help people whether it's given a college scholarship out buying football uniforms and I'm sure many, many more acts of kindness along the way.
Starting point is 00:54:48 Yeah, it was real special, AIM. Wow. Oh my gosh. I wish so badly I could have been there. I did want to be there so bad and I had no idea. Coach Gandalf was coming to surprise you. I know. No one did. No one did. I mean, that is just the coolest. So, okay.
Starting point is 00:55:04 I mean, I know it was probably awkward for you, but did you have to talk? I don't know. I did, and I talked, and I'm, they said I talked for eight minutes. I didn't know I talked that much. It was that long? Oh, whoa. Yeah, I know. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:55:16 You thought he was being funny and alone. He's like, Red Hoodie Comedy Tour. Wait. Also, can I hear what you said? Well, there's not a lot. They didn't record that, thankfully. I don't even know really what I said, because I didn't know he was coming out, and he came out and I had a couple stories about him.
Starting point is 00:55:32 because he's the one that we go to practice and he would say, every day's a good day and I'd get so annoyed with him. And again, I was 16, 17, 18 years old. I'd be like, every day's not a good day. But his whole thing was, every day is a good day
Starting point is 00:55:44 because you have the ability to show up. Today's a good day because you have the ability to get better. You have the ability, you're healthy. Every day's a good day. And you can make it a good day. And so, as you guys know, and I say that a lot, that really sparked something in me.
Starting point is 00:55:58 And so I told that story. Did I talk too long last night? No, I didn't think so. I mean, everything you were talking about, we were all in, so it didn't feel long. You did also talk about just how being uncomfortable is good and how you wouldn't be where you are if you weren't uncomfortable with everything. I wish I had written this speech because I have no idea what I was saying.
Starting point is 00:56:15 What I was talking about was nothing great ever happens unless you're uncomfortable before. Think of anything in your life that's been awesome. It's only happened because you've had to get out of your comfort zone to get there. And I just encourage people to be uncomfortable. And anything that I've ever had happened to me that's awesome or done. I think everyone related to that, even the artist. that played Chris Jansen and Thomas Rett. They were just like, we're uncomfortable up here too, you know?
Starting point is 00:56:36 Like, it's what we do. And thanks to those guys too, because they're friends of mine, Thomas Rett and Chris Jansen. They both stayed to play because I was like, hey, this is important if you don't mind. It was great. And Thomas Rett was awesome. And Chris Lowe. He's great. Come on.
Starting point is 00:56:51 That's why I wish about Chris Jansen. Because, you know, he has buy me a boat. He doesn't have to get up there and thank me every time we place anywhere. He does. But he doesn't. He says people don't thank each other enough and he won't stop thanking you. That was like four years ago. I think till the day he dies, he's going to thank you.
Starting point is 00:57:06 It was a really good night, though, for a musicians on call. And if I could say the word musicians, it'd be a lot better. But it was a really good night. Oh, man. That's awesome. I know. I do. I do really wish I could have, but I'm glad to hear that it went well.
Starting point is 00:57:20 And I hope you, you know, I know it's hard for you to accept awards, but you do a lot of really great things for musicians on call. So it's amazing. I'm done talking about this. Okay. What do you think about your support group? What? What, Amy? You know, you know what your next award might be?
Starting point is 00:57:37 What's my next award? It could be a mirror ball. Isn't that crazy? Oh, yeah. I just got another text from her friends saying she bet on me. I wish people would stop betting on me on this TV show. Like, I'm honest and God working as hard as I can. Like, I am.
Starting point is 00:57:50 Yesterday I got yelled at all day. All day. By who? By who? By sharno. Oh, man. Oh, yeah. So rude. Because you can't touch this.
Starting point is 00:57:59 It's just, I struggle. And Eddie was telling him before the. break, he was, hey man, you're going to be a better dancer. I'm like, no, no, I'm just working. The thing is, I don't see what you're doing in practice. Hours and hours. I'm not getting it right. The end result is looking good, I'm telling you. Not getting it right. But that's all right. I'll work on a small section for two hours. It's like nine steps. And I'll be like, okay, we got it. Takes that long? It takes longer. It takes longer. So just know. So when you're watching, just know.
Starting point is 00:58:28 We're doing, you can't touch this this week, right? Can't touch this. a minute 40 seconds. The longest single routine we've ever had to do it. Oh, they've all been about a minute right? Minute 10, minute 20, something like that. And this, it's like the Chah mix with the 90s music video. The only part of like doing is like the hip thrusting.
Starting point is 00:58:47 Oh, boy. You do like hip thrusting. I do love a good hip thrust. But I get lectured for not grinding properly like this and I usually think I could grind. There's a right way to grind? Apparently because I do it the wrong way. Apparently I'm grinding the wrong way. Dang, I know. It's My partner on Dance Withers is Australian, and so she yells at me in Aussie.
Starting point is 00:59:06 And so she's like, groin different, mate. Like, what's wrong with your grind? I think it's just awkward and tall, and sometimes I... Like you've got to bend the knees more and more thrust, or... If it were that, he... There's another move where I'm thrusting, and she's like, thrust more. Wow! Thrust more!
Starting point is 00:59:22 Oh, I'm like, man, in any other situation, this would be awesome. Of course. But right now, this stinks. That's so much. I know. Let me see. Who's on the phone? Lauren in Kansas, how are you, Lauren?
Starting point is 00:59:34 Are you there? Wait, here we go. Hey, Lauren, are you there? I am. Thank you for calling. What's going on? I'm going to compliment you on with Dancing with the Stars. Oh, thank you.
Starting point is 00:59:48 Go ahead. You can say whatever you want, then I'll rebut that. Well, I feel like you are very genuine, authentic, and unpredictable with your dance move. Thank you. And the other guest on the show, like, try to nail their positions just perfectly, but I feel like you're doing it for your listener. I am, but I also try to do it right, too.
Starting point is 01:00:10 I'm going to be honest with you. I know. What a compliment. She said, those people look like they're actually trying to nail the dance. You? Lauren, I'm trying as hard as I can. When you did the floss, that was hilarious. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:00:26 And I like it because your dances are so memorable. I never forget them. And that's why I tune in because I have to see what your next dance moves are going to be. Well, thank you. I'm so, and again, I say this with full sincerity. When people tell me last night, I had, I stayed after the event last night. I met anyone who wanted to come say hello. Just sat in the front of the theater and met everybody.
Starting point is 01:00:51 And probably 100 people were like, I voted every time, all 11, 12 times. Like, that's valuable to me. And because who votes for a TV show? Really? Who votes for a TV show? So when our people do that, it means a ton to me because I don't know that I would ever vote for a TV show just being honest.
Starting point is 01:01:07 I've never picked up the phone and been like, well, got to get in here and give the voice a call. Or I voted on American Idol once with Taylor Hicks. That's the last time probably. I was so passionate about Taylor Hicks. I was like, my boy. So listen, I'm going to dance again Monday. I'm going to try hard.
Starting point is 01:01:21 I appreciate you guys voting. You call a number and we'll see how long I stay. I'm doing it for you guys, though. Good. Tomorrow, Bradley Cooper should be on the show. also Morgan Evan should be on the show he's got a record coming out tomorrow we'll come back I think my dance
Starting point is 01:01:36 partner Sharna will be in studio in a minute oh good so we can yell at her yeah see how she feels that's right talk louder on the mic yeah say your words correctly yeah stop with the accent we're an American now
Starting point is 01:01:50 speak America put those headphones on hold on a minute I was reading this story about ghosts Amy how you feel about ghosts just the word ghosts I don't I think I think of like fictional...
Starting point is 01:02:04 Like Casper? Halloween. Yes. Like it's not... There's no ghosts. Okay, but what's the line between a ghost and a spirit? Good question, because I do believe that there can be angels. Okay.
Starting point is 01:02:17 And spirits. Okay. But what's really the difference in a ghost and an angel? Well, for me, a ghost is like you said, Casper and this, like, you know, spooky thing. Go ahead. No. And then an angel is different. It's not Casper.
Starting point is 01:02:34 I was talking to a friend last night about angels, right? Uh-huh. And you know me. I don't know. I believe, I feel like my grandma watches me. I don't know. I just don't want her to watch me like when I'm like doing number two or when I'm like naked. Like other than that.
Starting point is 01:02:50 Yeah. But they have all, they can see anything. It's like, that's the weird thing about them watching you. Go ahead. They know privacy, I think. Do you think angels know privacy? And they're like, oh. Oh, God, the door's locked.
Starting point is 01:03:05 He's doing that thing he does, 11 o'clock. Yeah, I don't know. I know one thing. Go ahead. Angels don't judge. You don't know that, though. They may be judging like crazy out there. That's the one thing she knows.
Starting point is 01:03:19 I was talking. Okay, so here's what my friend was saying last night. Now I was kind of moved by it. Because we were talking about something that had happened in her life. And she says, you know, I really felt like, I was being guided by, she had somebody passed away, some people passed away in her life,
Starting point is 01:03:32 by my angels. And I was like, okay, tell me more. She goes, you know, I don't feel guilty about asking the people that were in my life
Starting point is 01:03:38 to look over me because I would be like, I would feel guilty just to go, hey, group of angels up there. Would you give me a hand? Because maybe I didn't know them. But like,
Starting point is 01:03:47 my mom's not here, my grandma's not here. I feel like I could ask them. And I thought, yeah, that's a pretty cool thing to say. Like she felt like her own people, her own angels
Starting point is 01:03:54 were watching over her for, you know, specific things. And I was like, well, that's an interesting way to look at it. Maybe I just shout out to my people and they help me instead of just a generic group of angels. We're just hanging around. Yeah, like, I don't like to ask people for things. But if it's my relatives, maybe they could help me out.
Starting point is 01:04:13 But I don't know. I told you my guitar fell once. After my grandma died and I was like, hey, listen, I don't know if you're out there watching. I don't know. But if you are, and my guitar goes, boom, the one that she gave me. Whoa. So crazy. So crazy.
Starting point is 01:04:25 Maybe a coincidence. Probably not. but this whole story says that most Americans believe they've seen a ghost 60% of people But I consider those the same thing If you see any sort of thing that's not of this earth I think that's a ghost or an angel or a spirit So ghosts are fall in that supernatural category
Starting point is 01:04:42 Yes, I would say so My definition isn't absolute But I would say so I don't know 60% of people say they've seen a ghost Lunchbox says he was trapped in a closet by a ghost once Yeah this guy that lived like four houses down for me There was a ghost
Starting point is 01:04:56 Kid Yeah he's a kid It was like a kid. It lived in the house and you could see the footprints on the stairs when we were sitting on the couch. And one night I spent the night. And I was walking to the bathroom. The ghost pushed me in the closet and I couldn't get out. And it was freezing cold in the closet.
Starting point is 01:05:10 Breathe in your face? No. No, it didn't breathe in my face. It was just really cold in the closet and I couldn't get out of the closet. He touched you? No, it did not touch me. I am telling you the ghost is real. But we would be sitting on the...
Starting point is 01:05:21 But wasn't he wet? No, what are you talking about wet? I thought that he got you wet. No. Amy has a great point here. Your story's changing over the years. It has never changed. You guys change it and paint it in a bad light,
Starting point is 01:05:33 but this ghost did not touch me. It did not get me wet. It did not do anything. But we would be sitting on the couch under school and we would have the door locked of the front door and it would unlock. And you cannot tell me that it just is a bad lock. And the footprints up.
Starting point is 01:05:47 Why did ghosts need to go through a lock? Yeah, he has a great point. Why does the ghost have to take a lock and turn it? Can't they just go? I don't know. Just to let us know that it was there. And you guys don't have to believe me, I don't care, but the ghost lives there. You don't care if we believe you.
Starting point is 01:06:02 I do care because that ghost is real. I always wondered about the footsteps. Like, did he have mud on his shoes? No, you could just see the carpet. Like what kind of boots was he wearing? No, no. Justin's? You couldn't see the boots.
Starting point is 01:06:15 I'm telling you. Louis batons. No, he was a kid. You can only see the carpet, the imprint, like go up and down. I'm telling you. Listen, it's not that... Do they walk? I mean...
Starting point is 01:06:29 Okay, that's true, too. Amy wants to know, but they go to hover. Why did ghosts fly? No, they... Because they float. Okay, in your mind? Just because you watch Casper of the movie, they make it up. You guys have never seen it.
Starting point is 01:06:39 I saw it with my own two eyes. Do you guys believe them? No. We put them on a lie... Hold on, Amy, hold on. Let me tell the story. We put him on a lie detector once, and it came back, he was lying. No.
Starting point is 01:06:49 No. But then you said it's not admissible in court. It's not. And this isn't court. Right. Exactly. Well, in the public opinion, it's a true story because it is true. Listen, I can't think that mine is right and his is wrong. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:07:05 I don't know. You guys weren't there. But you ended up wet and then like... No, I did not end up wet and the ghost didn't blow in my ear and whisper sweet. Nothing like that happened. You guys add these fantasy details in your mind to make it sound ridiculous because you can't wrap your head around the ghost putting me in the closet. Would you ever go back to see if he's still there?
Starting point is 01:07:25 Yeah, I would actually. How long were you in the closet? Okay. Probably three minutes until I... Did you cry? No, I didn't cry, but my buddy got out of bed and came, let me out. But you're in the closet for three minutes? And were you yelling?
Starting point is 01:07:38 There's a ghost. Come help me. Yes, I could not understand why I couldn't get the door open. You were how old? Ten? What did the pushing feel like when he pushed you in the closet? What did that feel like? It just felt like a push.
Starting point is 01:07:53 Like, I just got pushed in a closet. I have nowhere. Yes. You shoved and you're sure it wasn't one of your buddies. Yeah. Dress in a sheet. You don't think I would know if my buddy was the one that pushed me in a closet? It had two eye holes in the sheet. Oh my goodness. No, it was the ghost. Okay. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:08:08 How many percent? What's the percentage? 60 percent? See, thank you. So I'm in the majority. You're welcome. Okay. The Bobby Bones Show. Hey, in studio now is my Dancing with the Stars partner, Sharna. Say out of Sharna. Did Amy go to the bathroom?
Starting point is 01:08:28 Hey Sharna. Oh, there she is. There she is. Hey, Amy. Bye. We, let's see. What do we want to talk about? Because Sharnas in Nashville with me.
Starting point is 01:08:36 And you have to travel with your partners wherever they go, huh? Yeah, I do. It's kind of annoying, huh? No, no, really. Did you guys go out last night in Honkey Tong? We did. We were in Tourist Central last night. I had a good time.
Starting point is 01:08:46 What did you guys do? Do you go to all the bars? We went and ate at merchants by your suggestion. And then we went to, what does that place go? Redneck something? Redneck Riviera. Riviera. Redneck something.
Starting point is 01:08:58 Redneck, I doesn't know Redneck. I don't know. It was fun, though. It was great. Shana went with me to the musicians on call thing last night. And everybody was there. Yeah. So it was good, huh? Yeah, it was amazing.
Starting point is 01:09:09 Chris Jansen, awesome, right? Awesome, blew me away. He closed out the whole show and he's phenomenal. I think Shana started like country music because it's like, you know, not that other things aren't real, but it's realer. Yeah. I was like, this is what country music is real. She had her phone out the whole time.
Starting point is 01:09:24 I did have my phone out the whole time. whole time. I filmed your entire speech, the whole eight minutes of it if you would like it. Was it too long in your opinion? Because I didn't, I had nothing prepared. No, you're incredibly entertaining and what you say has a beautiful message. I loved your speech. It felt like it was three minutes, not eight minutes. The, here's, and I say this in a loving way, but the most annoying thing about that speech was she was like, you should do that on the dance floor. I'm like, what are you talking about? Talk? No, like, have that. That presence. He's so comfortable up there on stage. It's like, he's this awesome, comfortable dude. Just,
Starting point is 01:09:55 just strolling around saying all these incredible things and then you put a dance move on him and it's like it's like what just happened who are you and what if you tell him Bobby Barnes because that's what I feel like to but it would be like me having to learn Spanish real quick and then go up and do a speech yeah I think you'd still be good at that
Starting point is 01:10:12 I think he somehow still figure that out let me bring on Dakota hey Dakota you're on and it's Bobby and Sharna's here too how are you? How are you? Really good what do you want to say? Well first of all I'm such a huge fan of dancing with a story and you, so I was so excited when I found out that you were going to be on the show. Thanks. Did you know Sharna already?
Starting point is 01:10:33 Well, yeah. I've watched Stancewoods and Stars before. I've kept up with it for the last two or three years. I don't know Sharnah personally. No, I know she's not your cousin or anything, but I mean, like, you knew who she was from the show. I did. Yeah. But I was curious what has been your favorite part about the show? I think my favorite part's probably that it starts every week with a super struggle. Like a super struggle where I'm walking into the room and I can't do anything.
Starting point is 01:11:01 It's like I'm a toddler. And then by the end of it, we kind of get it, right? Like we grow through the week. Yeah, big time we grow through the week. Like yesterday was a bad day. Yesterday was better than the day before. But that's what happens, see? Wow.
Starting point is 01:11:13 And lunchbox I got yelled out all day yesterday. Yeah, I know. Why do you yell at him? Exactly. Exactly. Why can't we just? I don't yell at him. But when he...
Starting point is 01:11:22 You're yelling right now at him. Yes, see, that's right. That's right. passionate, okay? It's not that I yell at him. It's that he can do it right 60 times in a row and then he'll do it wrong and look at me like he doesn't know what went wrong.
Starting point is 01:11:35 I don't know because I don't know. But you do know. We're doing the cha-cha and I don't even know what my feet are doing. She'll like do it. Okay, let's start over. My issue is he's better than he thinks he is. He just has to believe in himself more. I do like how she says like, you tell me what you're doing wrong.
Starting point is 01:11:49 Such a parent tactic. But sometimes I don't even know. She says you do that. So I'll just lie, so she'll tell me anyway. But you do know. And then you feel. Figure it out step by step and then you learn. We're doing trios this week.
Starting point is 01:12:00 And so it's me, Sharna, and Lindsay Sterling. But Lindsay Sterling is still in California. So we brought Morgan who dances, what they call a troupe dancer on Dancing with the Stars. And so we've been practicing. And like, it's been good caught, bad cop because Sharnah will be, like, and Morgan's like, you're doing pretty good. Oh, see, that's good. So Morgan builds your confidence, and Sharna tears you down. Yes.
Starting point is 01:12:22 There you go. Wow. I don't know if it tears me down. you just have to go in, we just work, right? We do, we go in and we work. Especially in the beginning of the week, you don't come into play, you come in serious. You don't want me to be nice about it. You've told me that.
Starting point is 01:12:36 I mean, nice, sir, I'll be nice a cable. Can you see him having more fun doing it or no? He has fun at the end of the week. Once he starts to get it and he really starts to find his confidence, he has a lot of fun with it. It's just the first few days in the week where he's as hard on himself as I am on him. That's true. And so the first few days are grueling. And they feel long.
Starting point is 01:12:56 But then the end of the week, it's amazing. Have you ever thought about taking a day off just to have some fun? Because you went honky talking. Bobby, all he does is work. Have you like, when you're out in L.A., if you thought, hey, let's take the day off and go to Disneyland? No, not at all. Once the show starts, we don't get time off.
Starting point is 01:13:08 There is no time off because everyone else is working. So if you take time off, everyone else is getting ahead of you. And I'm already behind a lot of them. Oh. Yeah, we haven't had a day off since we started five weeks. No, we haven't. Yeah. And I give her a hard time.
Starting point is 01:13:21 She doesn't really yell at me. She says words and it feels like yelling. in my soul. Yes, I'm like, Oh, Bobby, I hate you. That's what I say to me. That's what I say to me. She says, do it again.
Starting point is 01:13:33 And I'm like, she hates me. No, that's his internal voice, Farna. Yeah, that's his, yeah, thank you. Not my voice. Sharnah, I have a question for you. Last night you saw Bobby in his element and, like, just owning it. He's so good up there, right? He's it.
Starting point is 01:13:45 He's amazing. So what's it like to dance with him and be like, oh, man, he's so bad at dancing. But you saw him do something great last night. No, I mean, I've seen Bobby do great things. I've also seen him do great things on the dance floor. It just takes him a lot longer to get there. You know, our contemporary routine last week was phenomenal and the way that he danced was beautiful.
Starting point is 01:14:04 That is a testament to how much he grows. You know, our work process is really, really strong. So I've seen him do great things other than what he's comfortable in doing. And I think he's got a lot of potential. I think he can take it all the way. Where would you put him at when you first met him, like as far as dance skills and then now? Danceability? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:22 Honestly, his danceability was not. non-existent. Really? Because there's not a... It was like, why do you count to eight and go back to one? I was so glad that we counted eights in dance. We started from scratch. And he does have rhythm and he does understand music,
Starting point is 01:14:36 but then he forgets to listen to the music when he starts dancing. Oh, I don't hear songs. I hear... That's totally all he is. Like, one, two, three, four, my six, seven and eight. Sean is going to yell at me. Listen, I give Sharn a hard time because I can. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:51 If we weren't close and we weren't, it wasn't awesome, I wouldn't. I would just be like, don't come up on the show. Like, I'm good. I'll see you. Bye. See you tomorrow. Amy, anything for Sharna real quick? Shana's in my partner from Dancing with the Stars.
Starting point is 01:15:03 Anything you like? I just want to, I've said this on air ever since Monday's show, but I haven't gotten to tell you personally. But the way you choreographed Bobby's, you know, most memorable moment or year dance from Monday night, I mean, it was so beautiful. And I know it's not lost on me the hard work you put into that. I mean, anybody for that matter. But I think what we need to.
Starting point is 01:15:24 remember and take into consideration is that you come up with all of that and then you have to teach it to Bobby. Yeah, absolutely. Like, it's a lot and Bobby did so great and so that's just a huge testament to your choreography skills, your storytelling skills with dancing, and then your ability to teach Bobby to also tell a story because I felt it from him and from you and it was so beautiful. Oh, thank you, Amy. That means a lot for me, girl. It was a beautiful piece. It meant a lot to create it for Bobby because it's such a special story. But that's what I love to do. That's my favorite part, you know?
Starting point is 01:15:59 Well, do you guys ever take your fights outside of the studio? Like, once you're done... Dude, we don't fight. No, no. Once. You're done practicing. Bobby told us your fight. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:09 Yeah, we fought hard. That was less of a fight and more of me reprimanding you and walking away. Yeah, oh, she loved me. I just walked. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. No, I'm just saying because, like, you're practicing all day and then you spend, you know...
Starting point is 01:16:20 Are you trying to ask if we go home together? Oh, my goodness. Dang. Why are you trying to catch out of me? I'll try to. Stop it. Anyway. Well, I have one more question.
Starting point is 01:16:28 I don't know if we've gotten. I know we've pulled the room on what we think will Bobby make top five, top three. Is there a chance at number one? And Sharnah, I know, you know, he's your partner. You're in the grind. You've done this for years. And you've gotten so close to getting that mirror ball multiple times. So where do you?
Starting point is 01:16:49 I mean, obviously, I hope you think we know that we believe. believe in you and we think y'all can take this all the way but do you have any thoughts on where you think this could go? I think right now we are top three but I think with hard work and with Bobby continuing to improve the way that he has we could take it all the way and we could win it. I think he's just is the whole package and he's what people love to watch and what dancing with the stars is really about. It's not about people that have already got dance experience. It's about people coming on and being vulnerable and sharing who they are and doing something outside of their comfort zone and that is everything about Bobby's experience right now and he's giving it his
Starting point is 01:17:26 whole heart and soul so I feel like with a little more finesse and a little more technique he could really win the whole thing we could really win the whole thing sure not he yes we we we're we we're not about me yes it is we we we we we we wait we hey um okay Amy I have to go we have to do your pile in a minute uh Sharna thank you thanks for having me you're welcome we're going to dance practice stay for 100 hours yep and how and today hopefully, it'll be good. Today's day three. Today's day three.
Starting point is 01:17:56 Today will be great. Today will be great, she says. Hey, it's Bobby Bones here. With another Best Fiends announcement, you need this game in your life, folks. Starting point is 01:19:19 if she were curating the news, kind of what it would be. And it's Amy's pile of stories. Here we go. Here's Amy's Pile of Stories. So if you shop at Target, you have to check out a new brand that's there. It's called Smartly, and it's affordable home essentials. Like all you need for your house, but like really awesome prices.
Starting point is 01:19:40 I'm talking like they range from 59 cents to 1199. So if you're a budget conscious shopper, you've got to check this out. New products are. What's it for? Like what kind of products? Home essentials, like different things you may need for your home, whether it comes from like candles, even body stuff for your home, like body wash stuff to decorate and keeping your bathroom for guests. But talking 59 cents to 1199.
Starting point is 01:20:07 This is not a commercial, by the way. Oh, no. Not at all. This is just something Amy found that she thought she'd push along. All right, what else? Yes. And there is something called the Christmas Farm Inn, and it lets guests celebrate Christmas all year long.
Starting point is 01:20:23 You know, I think one of the special things about Christmas is it's only a few days. I'm going to be honest with you. I do love Christmas. I love the meaning of it. But holy mo. You guys celebrate it all year? That's exhausting. I think it sounds amazing
Starting point is 01:20:35 because what if you're busy over Christmas and you don't get to celebrate? All you got to do is take a little trip to an adorable small town. Jackson, New Hampshire, is where it's at. And, yeah, 365 days a year. They will get you in the Christmas spirit. I think it sounds amazing.
Starting point is 01:20:50 That's about 364 days too much for me. I do like that. Some people do love Christmas a lot. What else you have? And lastly, if you are a millennial and you're single and you're fine with it, you are part of the norm. They say that millennials are totally comfortable being single and they don't even know that they need marriage in their life or a significant other for that matter at this time being. And Bobby, you're on that cusp of millennial. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:21:17 But now, I mean, you're single, but you're also sort of maybe kind of dating somebody. We haven't really decided if it's official. It's true. I have very little to say about that Listeners are giving me a hard time too They're like hey Just say it Here's why I don't say who I've been out with a bit
Starting point is 01:21:33 Because they don't need that scrutiny right now It's all about that If I say it then there'll be some mean people go over And say things And right now I'm just living the life Whatever life that is It says here that like 71% Say that being single is a conscious decision
Starting point is 01:21:50 And that they like it And they don't mind it and it's where they want to be in their life right now, so stop asking them about it. Well, yeah, good for them. Stop asking them about it. All right, Ames, that it? Yeah, maybe that's my file.
Starting point is 01:22:02 It's a Bobby Bones show. Thank you so much for listening to the show today. I am going with my bum foot to dance practice. No time to rest it.
