Here's a caller that had a fun fact Friday for today. I didn't get this on in time. Hit me with the Blake one. The only place in the end, entire world that they grow naturally is in the great dismal swamp of North Carolina. And I'm talking about the Venus fly trap. So use that for Fun Fact Friday. That's cool.

Consider it used. I have one of those. I just bought one. A Venus fly trap. That's cool. Where do you get them? The plant store. Oh.

Oh, they get them from the swamps. I want to address a couple things. Number one. Did African scams? Oh no. So lunchbox has a theory. And so I have something to add to it. Go ahead.

Yeah, I think Abby got scammed because she was all hyping this thing. Oh, this concert, this, I'm going to get paid this. I'm going to get paid that. She was on the air bragging about it. Then all of a sudden, crickets. There were crickets. Crickets. Quit talking about it.

Hasn't mentioned it. And I think what happened is she realized it was a scam and she didn't want to admit it. And it's like, oh, she's so embarrassed. So, ah, oh no. I do have to, there is an admission here that I will give to. Yeah. I will say that, let me recap it real quick. A long time, months and months ago,

Abby got a message going, hey, I want to pay you $50,000, which, by the way, if you get someone in your DM saying, oh, do you not know what happened? Your eyes are big, Amy. Do you not know what happened? No. What do you mean? Okay.

Okay. So let's say you get a message in DMs going, I'll give you money. Be aware, right? Always. Okay. So this person goes, I will pay you $50,000 and you come and perform at a racetrack and bring an artist.

And the artist that she ended up getting was our friend George Burge. And so they said, okay, here's 50, do whatever. I think Abby paid George 30 because he's a headliner. Or she said she was going to pay him. Do you not know this? No, I don't know anything. Hold on.

Okay. This is, are you about to tell us? No, I'm not even teasing anything. I know. I thought you guys knew this. Okay, sorry. 30 to George and 20 to Abby So Abby came on the show

And we were like, wow, this is great She's going to make $20,000 from a DM So And Lunchbox's parents just got scammed We have a callers who've been And so George gets hired Eddie if you not talk to George?

I just texted with George But he didn't mention anything about this Okay But what would he mention? We were talking about something else, golf But did you say, are you in California? No Okay

So the show, according to the website, I think was tomorrow. Saturday, June 22nd. Was tomorrow? On the website. I mean, it's a racetrack. Haven't heard anything about it. Like Monterey, California. Abby's not here today.

I just noticed that. Because she's... Well, the show's tomorrow. Okay. Okay. Okay. You know what's happening. She's good.

Oh. Yeah, no, she's making $20,000 and you guys aren't. And she is, uh, what? She had to, I know, a little, little tittle, tittle. She had to go a bit early because since she's like promoting the show as well, not just the playing, she had to do some stuff at the venue this afternoon. Like make sure everything's good? Kind of.

It's all legit. So I was like, yeah, go ahead, take, you can have the day. Go, go handle that business. Well, there goes your dumb theory. So Abby's still making $20,000. And George Bird is still making $30,000. and she's going to go play at the racetrack. Dang.

So not a scam, and not only that, she's living, as they would say, Liva Loca. You got us good. She is not answering. I mean... Yeah, honestly, for a minute, I thought you were about to tell us. Yeah, because I do that.

Wait, she's not answering? You think maybe the scammers got her? Oh, no. As far as I know, there's not been a scam. I'll call her on my phone just if she recognizes this number. She's going on. She is. Oh yeah, put her up. Boom.

I need to pay her anyway for watching my dogs. When I works for the news, I went to a festival that was supposed to be happening that weekend and I showed up. Ghost town. Firefest. It's like Firefest, but it was local. Not to say that's what's happening with Abby. No, it's not happening with Abby. That's what I'm saying.

And we're going to get her on the phone and see what's up. Is she calling in now? Yeah. She's calling the hotline. Yeah. I had to tell her the phone number. She doesn't know it. Oh, she thought it was a generic or blocked, even though she called.

calls out on it all the time. I was saying the phone number. She's calling. I have to pay her. She watched my Stanley and Eller, the dogs, one of the days where we were gone. We kind of had to patch it together because we left so last minute.

I did not pay her until now. She's raking in the money this week. One day a dog watching. What would you pay them? $10. She stayed the night at the house. What? So you gave a room and bored.

Staying the night at the house. That alone, like I shouldn't even be paying you. We have a pool. We have a hot tub. We have a pickleball court. Who's we? Go to town. Yeah, who's weak?

I'm saying if I'm Bobby. $10. Yeah. No. You pair more to stay there? Yes, because I see. No, because she's not staying in her own house. Hey, trust.

Her house compared to your house. Of course, it's so nice, but it's also not convenient. Yeah, it's like not convenient. Boots, I have access to everything in your house. Boom, let's go. She brings her dude over, skinny dip. She did bring her dude over. She was like, it's okay.

Really? I was like, yeah, of course. You really? Okay, $10. Or $2. Or $2. Or $2. We can talk to her.

Or maybe she had to go do something with them. I don't know. Hey, Abby. Staycation. Hello. Hey, where are you? I am born here. Where?

I made it to San Jose. Okay, so she's there. And is the show still happening? Yeah, it's happening. And. I mean, as far as I know. There's no reason it wouldn't happen, right? Right.

Yeah, I've not heard anything that it wouldn't be. Lunchbox thinks that you were scammed because we've heard nothing about it in the last couple Yeah, it was very quiet around here. So what would you like to say about that? It's still on. I mean, we haven't done sound check yet, so. And I haven't really met with anybody. Yeah, it's okay.

Have you been paid at all? For half of it, yes. So she's already got $2,000. Yeah. Yeah, I have. So that's legit. How about your headliner? Is your headliner anywhere near?

Where was he? I think he gets here Yeah tomorrow Okay So everything There is sound check later Everything is full go Yes

And it's a race And then after the race there's a show So there's going to be a built-in audience For the most part of people They're buying tickets to watch the race, right? Correct It's like the qualifying round is Saturday And so right after that

We start at like 610 And then right after me Georgeburg and then Sunday is like the finals. And then what did you do for a guitar player? Are you scamming him? I mean it sounds like Abby doesn't want What?

That's good. How much does you have to pay? Hold on. I want to know who it is. Abby, who is your guitar player? Where did you find? Where did you find Reed? Is it Reed that works on me? What? Your read? Is he in town? He's right. He's in the room right there. Oh, okay.

He's right there. Oh, I feel like I kind of. I feel like I kind of, I feel like I kind of heard a little bit of something, but maybe Abby doesn't want to say. Hold on, hold on. What, Abby? She keeps cutting out. Hey, Reed. Come in here. Reed. Reed sings, wake up. Wake up in the morning. Come on. Hey. Hey, can you hear me? Yeah. What are you doing tomorrow? Tomorrow? Yeah. I don't know. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go to live or not.

Oh, the golf thing. Okay, so you're not playing guitar for Abby. No. She said her guitar player's name was Reed and then she cut out. And they and we thought she may have hired you secretly. I would have done it. Yeah, and it'd have been awesome. She should have hired you. Honestly, I don't know why she didn't do that. Okay, so you're good.

You're not going with her. No, no. But I would have been irritated if Reed had snuck off because he can do whatever he wants, but not been like, I'm going to go, like not said he was playing with Abby from the show. Yeah, like not tell you something. Yeah, that would be weird.

It wouldn't be sneaking off, but I feel like it would be hidden from me. But yeah, Reed would have been a great option. Well, I was good option number one, but okay. Okay, hey, Abby, what's the deal? Oh, okay. Who's a read you found? Okay, so he is actually from George's guitar player.

Oh, you're paying, you know what, that's smart. He's already there. He's already there. And like, yeah, and I just knew he's going to be here. And George kind of insisted because of a thank you, I want you to use my guitar player. So, like, that was really nice of him. Are you paying him? Yes, I am.

How much you paying him? $250. I feel like it already bit me discussing prices, so I just feel like I shouldn't really talk about prices anymore. You should, though, because the whole thing was negotiated by me. Correct. And we've had prices open about the whole thing, even how much you're getting paid. Yeah, that is true. Yeah, I got her.

What do you think is it, is it, paid him $2.50? Yeah. I mean, I would say that would be standard if he's already there. Yeah, because George is paying it, too. Yeah, I would think, I think there's a brilliant idea. I don't know who suggested it George, or if you asked George, if he knew any of it. anybody, but that's about the best way, because you don't have to pay for his travel out there. That's about the smartest thing that you could have done.

Right, because, like, I'm serious, if Eddie would have came, like, he would not have made much. Like, I promise. Like, the rooms are so expensive. It's, like, an hour and a half away from the hotel. So I don't know if he was going to Uber, rent a car or something. Like, I really feel like Eddie wouldn't have made anything. He didn't have done okay. Yeah.

You're paying him $3,000. Three grand. I would have stayed at Motel 6. Yeah. I would have my cousin, I know, but he didn't even need to a low level

$1,000 bucks over the property. I know, but we don't even need to bring it up. But she just said it. I know. I was like,

why did she do that? I know. I'm happy. Yeah. Abby, we're, I'm happy for you. I'm walking into that she's asking

a positive questions. You're the one that keeps being weird about stuff. I know because there was a blow up but you know, we're past it. Oh, we're past it.

I mean, just a weird chick. We've moved on. Hey, so, You have Reed. Have you practiced with Reed? Yeah, we got to practice. In town?

Yeah, we did. So that was nice. Where was that? Where was it? Yeah. He came to the studio. And how long did you practice with him? Oh, I'd say an hour 15.

You need to pay him another like 75 bucks, honestly, for the practice time. Yeah. Okay. No, I'm serious. I mean, I agree. He's a professional. Like, that's literally his job. And I know, I'm only saying this is.

she's new to this world. So you pay him the 250 and you're not having to pay, and you should pay him $325 and pay him $75 for the hour he came up here and practiced with you. Because when my band rehearses and, you know, Eddie and I aren't getting paid to do anything, but I have to pay everybody to rehearse because that's their job. Their time. Yeah. So I'm not just saying throw money at saying, Abby, you're just losing money. Let them right. You should never take this phone call. That's part of business. How much did you spend on travel? Oh, man. So 600 for my flight.

Tell me about it. Dang. Okay, so 600. The flight, no miles? So go ahead. The rental car is probably 300-ish. Okay. And then what about the hotel?

The hotel, that's pretty pricey. Oh, you stay at the Ritz, yeah. It's, oh, man. I'm not sure what the total is right now. For a night, it was like $6.50. $6.50 a night? Yeah. I would have stayed in Fresno and driven two and a half hours.

I'm saying. Why in the world would you? They jacked up the prices here. I wouldn't have stayed there. I would have stayed even two hours away. And you have a venue. You could go stay at the venue all day. Yeah.

But it doesn't matter. Let's figure it out. So let's say $1,300 for hotel. And then three, let's say four. I'm going to do everything a little high. So nine So she spent about This is still a really good paying gig

Hold on hold on Hold on She spent about $2,700 so far On guitar player It's 20,000 Jeez So you got You're talking about

17,300 Hold on, hold on Yeah, no taxes I hear you but we don't just say taxes When you say No Did she pay for her boyfriend to go with her Right the boyfriend

Yeah but she's not gonna pay for that If she did If she did not If she did She's being scimed. All right, what? No. So 17.3, roughly, she's made $7.

After paying all expenses, $17,300. That is a great. That's crazy when I hear it. That's very crazy. And how does that work? So she has half the money now, and then when the show's over at the end of the night, they hit her back. They give her the rest.

No, there's no cash, but they give her the rest. Yeah. So, because I don't think they're going to wire. Sometimes they'll wire it. Did Abby do merch for the show? That costs money. What you mean? It makes a lot of money.

Toby Keith makes more of merch. I know, but that's Toby Keith. People know her songs and stuff. She has one song, hey, their hometown. No one is buying Abby. How many hometown hatchet? It's one T-shirt that says, hey, their hometown. And so it's like she gets sued, that she's losing more money.

He loses on this. Abby, I hope it goes great. You're making a kid. killing $17,000, even if we cut the $300 off because they're like, I don't know, gas. Right. You're going to make $17,000 on this show. Maybe like snacks and stuff. That is really phenomenal.

Go ahead. No, it really is. I can't believe it. That is crazy. And I know this is never going to happen again. And it's just like a huge. But don't say that. I don't know a blessing in my life.

I mean, you know, like it really is. And I already have what I'm going to do with the money. What are you going to do? you didn't just win the lottery and it's over. Like this could be a career. She did. She's going to get an island. It's like he always wanted. We can find out what she's going to get in when she gets back.

Okay, yeah. You can't. You can't expect these things. I don't expect any of this to happen. I would say this is crazy. Odds are this will never happen again. What? I never say never.

But Eddie, for someone to go, Abby, book this show and here's all the budget and you've never done it. The reason she did it is because of this, of our show, our radio show. Sure, but this is the opportunity. It all starts with that one opportunity, right? They say the door opens. She could definitely pull it off.

Well, I think it's just like the energy around. I know, but it's just the energy around words. Like, we can recognize this is rare, but also. want to speak of it in a way that like I'm so happy this happened to me I can't wait for it to happen again or you look forward to that way you don't close it off like I would go immediately after you don't think that way I would think odds are it's going to happen against I'm really going to like learn as much as I can to try to try to take advantage of this and tell the people like hey if you anybody else or you're going to do it next year like that could be something where every year but

it's I know but I just don't want the I don't I understand that it's never going to happen again but I don't want her to speak that out into the... Like, you come back and you change all your titles as, like, slash concert promoter. She can now do that. However, a big part of that promoting was because of this show. Yeah, I know, but nobody knows that. No, no, they do. But if it happens to get it next year, I'm not going to book.

I'm not going to get her... But the bird has learned how to fly now. But it's not who is she going to contact? Like, I gave her my manager to, like, ask questions. Nope. We promoted it on the show. Like, we're not going to promote it on the show if she does it again. Like, part of their benefit to paying her,

because they knew it was going to probably be talked about on the show. Like, it's not going to be a bit every year like it was this year. So she could probably learn something. You know what I learned? Oh, my God. What? She's getting cocky. Check your DM.

Oh, yeah. Oh, no, no, what I'm saying is I went, oh, because sometimes when I talk to her, she cuts out. And then sometimes when I'm talking, it cuts back in. It's like when we talk to somebody like, can you hear me? They hear you perfectly. And then when they say, okay, well, well, anyway, here's the deal. This one. What?

It always happens that way. Abby, and where are you? I'm really happy for you, Abby. I think it's awesome. It's a great opportunity. I would look at it as you're learning big things. You can pivot this into other, depending on the route you want to go. You can pivot this into other smaller things, but it's all about relationships.

Business is all about relationships. If you don't have them, you have no business. So make good relationships with people making the decisions and say, hey, if you do it again next year, I'd love to try it again. And if it goes well, if it goes, poorly don't be like, well, I think I can do better next year. Hire me next year. They can hire you. But if it goes well, at the end, say, hey,

that was awesome, let's try to get next year. And leave that little seed. And learn what you can. And then maybe you could, this, maybe why she gets in a concert promotion and not trying to be an artist anymore. Exactly. Who knows? It's great. What are you saying?

Abby, could you give us all like a thousand just for supporting you? That's what I thought. I was like, check your DMs, and she's giving us all like a gift of like... Yeah, I got a dozen.

Yeah, I'm a kiddie DM me. You know, I may come up with a fun little prize game for somebody. All right. Now I'm getting annoyed with her. Oh, somebody shared me a video guy. She's like, I might just buy somebody an ice cream Sunday. As she walks over $20,000. No.

I know. Abby, I'm just giving you a hard time. I'm so happy for you. And I hope it works out and hope people come to the show. and it's just such a success. And I hope you perform wonderfully. And congrats, you did the smartest thing by getting Georgia's guitar player.

Make sure you compensate him fairly. I just send you $100 for watching the dog. So that would be... A hundred? That's ridiculous. That's nice. It's insane. You're paying hers.

Okay, Abby, the only advice I would give you next time, if it's only a one-day thing and hotels are so expensive, you get a room to sleep in, if you have to stay two hours away,

you stay two hours away, and you just get to the venue, and they have a spot for you to stay all day. That way you'd save a bunch of money. Because you can see as like touring costs a lot of money. It's very expensive. It does. Yeah, it's very expensive. Yes, wow.

Wow. Imagine this, like big artists, they have a tour, like a show at, like an amphitheater, and they have three or four acts. That opening act is making $5,000 to $7,500 a night, like somebody with a one hit song. And they're spending for a bus to be out of weekend is almost $4,000. Like when I had to pay,

pay for a bus for raging idiots. It's $4,000. I got to pay. So then it's like, okay, we got to pay for food. We got to pay all your people to play. So they're making $7,500 a night and losing money sometimes. Oh my gosh. That, that's, it is wild. There's somebody like hidden expense. Those were the days though, dude. What days? Touring on the bus. Gosh, man. You don't pay for it. Awesome. Dude. And he's like, you know what the nicest buses. Playing video games? It's awesome. Go ahead. With, well, Abby dog sitting and you're paying her, it makes me think of, it's the weekend, like Stevenson's PlayStation.

It's a freaking weekend. Yeah, I know, but. I don't know yet about this weekend. We were gone. Yeah, I'm not even adjusted yet. Yeah, I don't need to. I might have some work from you do. He doesn't need to be in.

Because my machete's not coming until this afternoon. There's no machete. There's no machete. But I'm just saying I have him this week. I do. I probably will have a little bit, maybe. It just depends on organized. We were just gone so long.

He's just going to have to get a ride. and can't drive. Well, shouldn't you take him to work? No, I'll take him. I'll take my son to work. All right, Abby. Have a safe and productive and have fun. Although people say, just remember to have fun.

They didn't even sing on the records. Other people, and they went out in lip sync to every performance. So the other Grammys taken away from them. So they were not good singers at all? No. Because they tried later. to do an album and they weren't very good.

But they were really good looking guys. They almost like brothers. Their names rhymed. Mr. Millie and Mr. Vanilli. Although not their name. It's like, really? No, no. I was like, wow.

So we know some people can't sing. And really, it wasn't so much about the lip syncing. It was the fact that it was never

them on all the albums. Never them. They didn't sing. They didn't sing. They didn't ever sing. It's like if Luke Bryan came out and saying like, all right, it's not me. Morgan Wall and sang all my songs. Yeah. Because I guess even the ones that lip syncing in concert, they're singing on their albums. Yeah. And it's their lip syncing to their voice.
