This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Hey, I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans.
Starting point is 00:00:50 I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of the time. of us likes. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Earners, what's up? Look, money is something we all deal with, but financial literacy is what helps turn income into real wealth. On each episode of the podcast, Ernie Elegia, we break down the conversations you need to understand money, investing, and entrepreneurship.
Starting point is 00:01:31 From stocks and real estate to credit, business, and generational wealth, our goal is simple. Make financial literacy accessible for everyone. Because when you understand the system, you can start to build within it. Open your free I-Hard Radio app. Search Earn Your Leisure and Listen Now. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHart Podcast presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne.
Starting point is 00:01:52 This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the Hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, We're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:02 We're recording it as we tailgate. Our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's time for the good news.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Tell me something good. All right, let's go all around the room. Tell me something good. Eddie. So yeah, somebody left the gate open in my backyard. What has the ability to get out other than a kid? Dog. And the dog got out.
Starting point is 00:02:38 And so I get home yesterday and my wife's like, hey, have you seen her dog? And I'm like, no, because she's usually right by the door, like always on her little bed. And I said, no. She's like, well, I think I let her out, but I don't remember. And I look out and that gate is wide open. Man, that sucks. I'm like, oh my gosh, here we go. So I go out.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Small dog too, right? Like an animal can take it? She's, no, no, no. She's like middle. She's middle size. How big? 15 pounds? Yeah, like 25 pounds. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:02 And so I go out there, I start yelling her name, and nothing. And I go in my car, I drive around the block and nothing. What always works is her bags of treats. It's like in a tin can. I take it and I shake it. Dude, she came out of the woods with burrs and like sticks and everything, like running out. So lucky. And she came and I was like, thank God we did not lose her.
Starting point is 00:03:25 The fact that she was close enough to be able to hear the shake. Man, that gives me anxiety. It's just funny how, like, really, I can yell her name, like, on the top of the mountain, and she will not respond, but I shake her a treat. Like, she comes running, like, no problem. You have nothing to offer just by yelling her name. Right. Possible scolding.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Amy, you're up. So I told you all I got this new little suction cup bird feeder and that a cardinal had come, which is my mom, but the Blue Jay came, which is my dad. Wow. And I know Eddie would appreciate it because also I need to ask Eddie how he filmed the birds coming to his feeder because I want to get a camera to and actually I was going to invite Eddie on an outing
Starting point is 00:04:05 if you wanted to come. Let's not do that but that's pretty no no no wow you don't even know what the outing is. Listen to her offer. No it's not. I thought it was like to your house to film the birds. I'm like that's weird. It's not to my house. It's to a bird store. Oh okay. It's like it's like a bird store.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Like probably 10 minutes from my house like I mean that's good content. We guys go shoot you guys at a bird store. Then we just go look at birds. I don't know. I don't know what else you do at a bird store. It's called wild birds unlimited. So I'm worried about this?
Starting point is 00:04:36 So it could be any bird? They have unlimited. It's unlimited as one in a bird could show up? Well, they have unlimited birding accessories, tools, feeders, baths, see guys, what's going to happen? Cameras.
Starting point is 00:04:46 We're going to end up buying birds. No, no, no. I don't think they sell birds. Oh, they don't? No, I think they, it's a shop for birding people like us. That's kind of cool. Binoculars. Yes.
Starting point is 00:04:57 I think that would be a nice. This little fun content piece to go shoot. I've been looking at the different, the various feeders they have and different types of food. And so I've just, I guess I'm just excited that my birding is back because I had to take a break because when I moved, just there wasn't a setup that really worked. I mean, I had a few feeders scattered about, but they were too far away to where I couldn't like see the birds. And the suction cup one helped suck me back into it. Do different bird foods attract different birds? Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Like do the Blue Jay who you, your dad is a blue jay and your mom is a car. Cardinal. Do they like the same food or different foods? Yeah, they both came to the same feeder with the same food. I have a mix that's good for Tennessee-type birds. And what I'm attracting is backyard birds, and Cardinals and Blue Jays in Tennessee are a backyard bird. Like, Eddie had a whole thing. Like, he got... What about eagle? Would an eagle ever land there? No. He couldn't fit. An eagle? I've never seen an eagle here.
Starting point is 00:05:54 What? I've seen hawks. I've never seen an eagle here. You've never seen an eagle? Like a landed eagle. Not in Nashville, no. Like a bald eagle? Yeah. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:06:03 You have not? No, have you? Yes. What about a former Philadelphia eagle player just walking around? Oh, Donovan McGowan. Yeah. At one of the trails we walk, there's an eagle's nest, and you have to, there's like, there's like, there's like, don't cross this point because then you could disrupt. I mean, the nest is way up high, but I see the bald eagle flying there.
Starting point is 00:06:22 I'll tell you what's weird about shooting videoing these birds is like, I have a Are you going to your phone? I have a phone with a red case. That's how I did it. I just put my phone against the window. Okay, see, I was asking me, I didn't know if he had a special camera or he just did his phone. And you just put it on... I thought Eddie was going to make it to watch YouTube video or something.
Starting point is 00:06:37 No, no, no. He got to watch it. It's so fun. So you just hit record and like let it just go and then you edit it whenever you saw a bird come? Correct. Yeah, I'd leave it for like 15 minutes and then whatever came. Oh, you had a lot of visitors in 15 minutes. No, a lot.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Yes. And when it snowed, a lot came by. But what's crazy is I have a red case on my phone. The red Cardinals, every time it came up, it was like, whoa. And then you got away. The Red Cardinal did not like the red phone. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:01 But what's crazy is a bull ran through the window. Okay. Okay. Okay. So, Eddie, I'll have to send you a video because I thought of your dad because haven't we decided he's a morning dove? He's a morning dove. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:12 So. He comes every day, by the way. Eddie's dad came to my house and couldn't figure out my feeder. And so it's clear plastic on the top and he wouldn't go in. into the hut to get the food. He was on top of the plastic trying to get the food and he was pecking his peak down onto the, and I was like, oh, Eddie's dad struggling. He's a little uncoordinated. He's struggled. Yeah, he does that at my house too. He's a little slow. Do you know what the national bird in Mexico is? Eagle. Yeah, the golden eagle. Because it's on the flag. That's correct.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Yeah. That's what's in the scent and the, when the, yeah, it's like a snake in its mouth and everything. Yeah, their eagle looks hardcore. I think their eagles in the cartel. So there's is a golden eagle? Probably. The national bird of Mexico is the golden eagle. It's the eagle you see on the Mexican flag standing on a cactus respect with a snake. Double respect. The image comes
Starting point is 00:08:04 from an Aztec legend about where they found modern day Mexico city. Huh. I didn't know that. That's cool. Do you know there's a Mexican Jay? Oh, like a blue jay, but a Mexican jay? No, I didn't know that. I was just searching for like a Mexican bird to see
Starting point is 00:08:22 Oh, see, my dad with that? Yeah, yeah. And then I landed up on the Mexico national bird, which thought's pretty cool story. I mean, dude, that would be crazy if a Mexican j landed on my... That's what I'm saying. That for sure would be my dad. Yeah, but for now he's a morning dog. Yes, for now. But you can't change. But he's got a buddy or something because he always comes with someone else. Bobby, there are no rules. You can change. You think my dad found another chick. Because he comes with another. Oh, like a literal chick? Because he's a bird? Oh, yes, yes. Well, morning doves often travel in pairs. He found a girl. That's the thing.
Starting point is 00:08:52 lunchbox this whole time has just been hanging his head. Well, I mean, Eddie made fun of, excuse to make fun of Amy all the time when we talked about her mom visiting, her dad visiting. And now all of a sudden Eddie's like, oh, my dad's a morning dove. And it's like, what happened? That's exactly. My dad died happened. My dad died.
Starting point is 00:09:12 From the one person who doesn't have a dead parent, he's like, but also I don't believe him either. Thank you. Have you tried? No, but I don't hate it. I've always said to Amy. I think it's funny, but I can't. say that's not true.
Starting point is 00:09:24 I know, but I just wonder what changed Eddie's mind. I understand your dad died, but why did you... That's what you... And then a morning dove showed up, like, every day. Yeah, and then he got in, and then he got a feeder, and then he got... It's like a thing. It just also... You also look for things to comfort you.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Maybe it's our age. I'm not quite sure what happens, but it's like, just one day you wake up and it's like, oh, I find birds coming to my feet are really interesting. It's kind of cool. Like, I'll talk to him. Like, what's up, dad? You know? And then he'll look.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Like, it'll look. in the window and be like, what's going on? What's going on in there? Yeah. And he's the only bird that doesn't get scared when I sit in the couch right by the window. I don't know. Something there. Probably not, but I can't prove you're wrong and nor what I want to because if you find comfort
Starting point is 00:10:06 in it, good for you. Yeah. Exactly. I like that. But probably not. But you heard I said, I can't prove you wrong. I was watching a John Edwards video. You popped across my TikTok. Remember John Edwards, Amy? Senator? Mm-mm. I think it's John Edwards.
Starting point is 00:10:21 The guy that would see people death, talk to dead people? He had a TV show for a while? I mean, I feel like I'm picturing. Is he a brown hair? Uh-huh. And he'd go to the crowd and he'd be like, I'm talking to somebody. Yes, he's yes, I know who this is. Like, I generally feel, I'm going to search him real quick. I generally feel like he's full of crap. Man, he's good at, he's good at being full of crap. I could see where you'd find comfort in that. John Edward's psychic. Yeah, here we go.
Starting point is 00:10:46 When they pass. And if it's too painful to leave while that person's there, they'll wait to that person's not. So if you were not able to be there, please don't take offense to that. Don't think that you failed them. They may not have been able to pass with you in the room. So it's just stuff like that. I'm like, I can't prove he's wrong. And he was on Jay Shetty's podcast. And do I think John Edwards really knows all the stuff about dead people? No, but I definitely can't prove he doesn't. And I also would never argue that there is no one with an ability that I can't understand. I'm doing lots of negatives. But I think there are people that have abilities that I can't understand. And because I can't see them or understand them doesn't mean they aren't
Starting point is 00:11:25 real. But generally speaking, do I think people like that are full of crap? Yeah. So hard to know. That's right. And because so many people take advantage of people or people, they think they have some weird ability and they really don't. But I'm not someone who's going to tell, who's going to absolutely say, gun to my head, there's no chance. This is not, I don't even want to say a talent or a skill, but this is not something. A gift? Sure. A gift that people can't possess. It's a good word, Amy. I mean, I don't know. You nailed it. Hey. Nailed. Nell that word. Okay, thanks.
Starting point is 00:12:01 So any whozy, a Blue Jay came to my feeder. That's awesome. That's really cool. They do have feeders with cameras on them already, but they're kind of expensive. I know, I know. I have one of those, I feel like a listener sent to me. I just need to set it up. It's a little complicated, but it's like one of those cameras you put in the woods, like on a tree.
Starting point is 00:12:19 I guess I could set that one up. A wildlife cam. Yeah. You guys are going hard. It's awesome, dude. And what's really cool with Amy is like no one ever, like, They'll be a woodpecker right at the window. I'll be like, guys, guys, look at woodpecker, and nobody cares.
Starting point is 00:12:32 But Amy cares, and I love that. Oh, I thought then when there was your dad, they'd all come running. No, they don't care to anybody. They don't care about that one either. Got it. All right, that's good. Lunchbox? Yeah, yesterday at 532 p.m. got a call.
Starting point is 00:12:44 And it said, attention. Your child will return to school tomorrow. There has been power restored. School resumes tomorrow. And I was like, all right, they're going back to school. That's a great thing. After six days off of pure chaos, they return. Six school days more than that.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Well, yeah, six school days. It was like whatever many days in a row, they go and get some education and some structure in their life. Yeah, except for, did you also in the same? I got the email, so I got the same message. And then I get an email that's like, oh, reminder, winter break is coming up. Yeah, they have a winter break. Did you believe that?
Starting point is 00:13:21 Well, you just had Christmas break. And then they had snow ice break. Right. And then they have winter break. And then they have spring break. Oh, we don't have winter break. We just have spring break. Does that affect, though, when big summer hits?
Starting point is 00:13:32 Like, is it later because you're taking the little breaks? No, because they've had, they have days built in for the winter break or the ice days. They have extra days built in the school year. So they are able to not extend the school year any. But I'm talking about winter break. Not the one we just had. But, like, is the schedule a little different from when we were going to school? Because they do have these smaller breaks in that the bigger break is not as big anymore.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Summer feels shorter, yes. They start school a lot earlier because they have fall break and I guess you have winter break. We don't. But then you have spring break. So they have a lot more breaks. And then Thanksgiving now is all week off. Instead, when we were kids. It was just Thursday Friday.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Yes. So they do start earlier. And the winter break isn't the whole week. It's like Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or something. Or maybe only two days or something. I think I was like a Friday Monday. It doesn't matter how they do it. It's just different.
Starting point is 00:14:23 And it just felt it was like cruel to send that reminder right after they've just been home for week. I'm like, just give it a beat. Give it a beat. But whatever. But yay, school. Yeah, school. They're back of school. Kids need like routine, you know, and when they don't have it, it's chaos. I need routine. And when I don't have it, I feel chaos. Yeah. So yes, I agree with kids especially. All humans, yeah. Mine is I had this freaking Zit coming up in my lip and I popped it and I was like, oh God, I hope it was a Zit. I don't really get that many fever blisters. It's, it's. It's is it, thank God, because I have stuff I have to do all this week. So can you see it at all? Nope. It feels like it is a second head. It's so big. Does you put concealer on it? No.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Oh, because I can't see it at all. The only time I would ever do that is if I had a real TV shoot and I feel like it would hurt it long term, but help it short term because I was putting like something unnatural in it. But I got on chat GBT last night. I took a picture of it and I said, what's going on here? Because what happened was I was already squeezing it and making it red and all messed up. And it's like, uh, that looks like a pimple with torn skin. And I was like, thank God. He's like, this is what you do to fix that. And so I put aquifer all over it, which is good. But I was nervous. It was going to be a fever blister. It's not. And that's good news to me. Yeah. I had a interview last night with Cody Johnson. It was a late one. I had a long day yesterday.
Starting point is 00:15:45 So we had a late Bobbycast. That'll air next week. But Cody Johnson came over last night at like five and we taped a bobbycast with him. He's back. He had his ear exploded. Yeah, his eardrum. Uh-huh. And so he was just done for a while, but now he's back. He's starting again. So he came over. Um, he's the guy that's kind of like us in that his crew's been together a long time. Because I was like, hey, when you started, like, who's your guys? Like, well, 15 years ago, 13 years ago. They've been running together. And so like us, 20 years, 20 years. Where are you adding this now? We've been friends for way longer. Yeah, but with the show 12. But we work television together way before that. So that'll be next week. Blake Shelton's up now on podcast and on Netflix. And then Derek Huff goes up on Netflix Thursday. And then Cody Johnson will be next week.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Derek Huff, the dancer? Mm-hmm. Oh. He's won six times and now he's a judge on Dancing with the Stars. Yeah. Also. Oh, did you, that's when you went to? L.A.
Starting point is 00:16:42 L.A. Okay. I was like, when did you see him? Yeah, we did a bunch out there. Well, we did four in like a day and a half. So, yeah, that's what's up. So that's my tell me. me something good. Hey Ray, do you have anything? We rarely go to you on this. Yeah, out of, it's now official. Out of all my family, you guys, I guess Eddie never lost power, but we never had one second
Starting point is 00:17:05 of lost power, lost hot water, lost microwave, lost refrigerator, lost dishwasher. So we live life as normal. And I'm just like, wow, we must be on the most powerful power grid and all of Nashville and just props to my father-in-law. I think more than that, it's your line. You're Wines weren't affected by trees falling on it. So either you have lines without a bunch of trees over it that didn't crack or they're underground. Yeah, my lines were underground. Also, we got a line installed when our house was built, so that might be it too. Well, nothing landed on it or affected it because that's what happened here.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Correct. Maybe a squirrel, but not much more. Yeah, well, that's great. You've got to keep your power. Yeah! All right, there you go. That's Tell Me Something Good. That was Tell Me Something Good. A win is a win. A win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'll say. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,
Starting point is 00:18:01 or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment. And the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger.
Starting point is 00:18:36 So if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. You can have opinions, you can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation.
Starting point is 00:19:19 There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here?
Starting point is 00:20:05 We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. If you're watching the latest season of the Real House Watch of Atlanta, You already know, there's a lot to break down. Gorsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man. They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew. Pinky has financial issues. I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
Starting point is 00:21:03 I think it looks like it's going to be interesting. On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King, recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows, including the Real Housewives franchise, the drama, the alliances, and the team everybody's talking about. executive producer in reality television, I'm not just watching it. I understand the game.
Starting point is 00:21:25 As somebody who creates shows, I'll even say this. At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment. To hear this and more, listen to Reality on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:21:42 It's time for the good news. With Amy. Tell me something good. There's a treasure hunt His name is Andrew Kiffer. And he has a metal detector, so he's often out there. But a lot of times he comes home empty hand and doesn't find anything. Well, this trip to the beach, he found a class ring from 1966. So he looks at the high school.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Okay, create high school looks like it could be through some research, a school in Nebraska. So he called a library there to see if they could help him track down a BW. It's all he had was the initials BW and the school in the year from nearly 60 years ago. Well, his persistence paid off because people who's working with started to connect the dots and the ring belonged to... Well, don't tell us. Let's see if we can guess. Billy Westmoreland. You go. Brooke Walker.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Lexbox. Billy Smith. I couldn't. Bobby. Bob. Ben. Brian. I mean, right when you said Billy, it just stuck in my head.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I couldn't get it out. Is it buck? No. What is it? Barbara. No, it's a girl. We're sexist. You would never get this last name.
Starting point is 00:22:51 It's like, wheelage or something like that. She lost the ring so long ago. She couldn't even recall how it ended up 1,300 miles away. But she thought it was pretty cool to get it back. And it was just as shiny as it was on. No way. No way. No way as a shiny.
Starting point is 00:23:08 They had to clean it first. When he returned it, he returned it to her shiny and new looking. Amy's still waiting on hers back. Yeah. I'm going to be like Barbara. I'm going to be. elderly of some sorts. I don't have her age.
Starting point is 00:23:22 I think Amy's offered like 10 grand for that thing. You have. Not like 10 grand, I have it. Well, so what is the offer? We always forget. Mike knows. $1,500. And how much did I offer?
Starting point is 00:23:33 $1,450. Why would you do that? Why would offer $14.50 to Amy's ring? And I'm paying $50. Apparently, that's the deal we made a long time ago. Okay, good story. That is what it's all about. That was tell me something good.
Starting point is 00:23:46 It's time for the good news. With lunchbox Tell me something good Kyle Todd was sitting there scrolling social media When he saw a post A woman, her dog had fallen in the icy river And he's like, that's right out my back door He jumps out, runs down there, sees the woman
Starting point is 00:24:05 He gets her out and the dog's farther out He grabs a kayak in the icy water And just before the dog goes under the water Ha! puts him up on the kayak. How do you see it on social media? live streaming it? I don't know. Someone had posted, hey, woman dog fell in the river. We need help. I don't know exactly who posted it, but he saw it.
