Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance.
Starting point is 00:00:30 And then there's your body having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Ho'Brien, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents Soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they hit a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:56 I'm Daniel Jeremiah. And I am great. I know that, Greg. We're teaming up on 40s and free agents, the podcast that owns the NFL offseason. This is where teams are built. Free agency, combine, pro days, trades. Every move matters. From my draft boards and mock drafts to my vaunted top 101 free agents and how rosters come together. Quarterback movement. Surprise signings. We'll tell you what it means and who really wins. Open your free iHeart radio app. Search 40s and free agents and listen now. It's time for the good news
Starting point is 00:02:29 Amy, tell me something good. Amy, tell me something good. My son is having his first dance and he went and bought his suit yesterday. That's fun. Like his first school dance, eighth grade dance, and his dad was on the phone with him yesterday
Starting point is 00:02:44 trying to convince him to take a date. And he's like, oh, I get nervous when I have to talk to girls. I mean, he's had a girlfriend before, but I guess when I think about it, they didn't really talk that much. But it's really cute He's either going to go with just two of his buddies
Starting point is 00:03:01 And even then he was like Mom, can't I just meet them at the dance? I'm like, well, you could also I guess I'm trying to treat him like I would Stasheera Like y'all could all get ready together and take pictures So I didn't know Like do I need to push that or just drop him off at the dance? I thought it would be fun if they got together and took picks
Starting point is 00:03:19 This is middle school? Eighth grade. Yeah, so like I remember we did the whole date thing wasn't a thing in middle school. Like no one had really dates. A couple of the guys did. Like, not my sons, but, like, their friends had dates. And I remember, like, all the guys would just go eat at a restaurant.
Starting point is 00:03:34 And then remember I told you guys, I would pick them up and take him to the dance and I would act like I was the little. Yeah. Yeah. So, like, there was never really a date situation for my boys. Yeah. So we'll drop that. I mean, his dad was just like, hey, if you want to take someone, it could be cool. Like, just even as a friend, like, not a girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:03:51 So, yeah, I guess we won't push that. I'll just see what they end up doing. But we had to go get him a new suit because the suit I got him last year, he's already grown out of it. And I was like, are you sure you can't squeeze in? But then he put on the jacket and the wrist was like up to here. And the pants were like high waters. And so I was like, okay, you're right. I guess you do need a new suit.
Starting point is 00:04:12 That's cool. It was just like a special moment. So he's got to dance. And then the day after that, his sister has prom. So dance is Friday night for him. prom's next night for her and her my daughter's prom date's mom called me to have a discussion of you know it's senior year like how can we make this super special and I'm like oh I thought it might be like hey how do we make sure they don't get in trouble oh it's a good one no she's like my she's like he's a good kid she went to prom with him last year they have as juniors you can go to prom too so yeah it is their senior year but this is the exact same person she went with last year and they're just friends but she was brainstorming already how to make it super special. And I thought, oh, I thought we'd just do the same thing that we did last year. But I guess good point. Whatever, I'm down for whatever. I said,
Starting point is 00:05:01 because I didn't have any ideas. Do you all? No, I'm all tapped out. Dude, my senior year, though, I had three proms. Three different girls asked me to prom. Really? At different schools? Yeah. Oh, didn't you went to all three? I did. Oh, that's legit. That was crazy. I was like, what's happening? Our limo's cool? I don't know. I mean, when we were in high school, it was cool. Yeah, I mean, a party bus, but also, like, if they have a bunch of people, a party bus is cool, but if there's only two people, a party bus would be weird.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I mean, last year they went with two other couples, but then the mom, she had gotten them a driver, and she said, I don't know if we need to do that. This year, he's a year older, more mature, and I feel fine with him driving, and I trust him. She goes, I don't think he would do anything irresponsible. So I was like, well, I'll be down for whatever. in the next couple weeks we've got a big weekend of eighth grade dance and prom my sons did say the eighth grade dances are funny
Starting point is 00:05:59 because like all the guys hang out in one little area and the girls hang out in one area and no one really even dances like it takes a slow dance at least for us it took like a slow dance and for one person to make that move and other people would kind of make the move slowly the slow dance was what got people to dance at all
Starting point is 00:06:14 because you don't really dance to fast songs until you get older and that's really all you want to dance to and that's all that's played when you get older. That's fun though. Everybody's growing up. I'll do a couple of mine. My mother-in-law got into town last night, so got in. We were worried because when we talk about this in another part of the podcast and part two, but she was flying from Atlanta, and I was like, oh man, it's going to be four or five-hour wait.
Starting point is 00:06:37 And she's like, no, I got right through. So she got to the house last night like 8.30. And my wife really has it on lock as far as the baby and the schedule. And I've been back to work fully for these two days this week. and a little bit last week. And so, like, I made a point last night to go home. Most of the time I would work here until 1215, 1230, go right to the other studio drive over there and do the NFL show, lead that into the gym. And I would not get home until four or five or so on a normal Monday. Or it starts Tuesday, right? What day are we? Yeah, today's Wednesday. But no, I made a point to go home. And that was great. And my wife's got unlocked. But my mother-in-law is there for this
Starting point is 00:07:15 week. She wanted to come. So that gives me a little peace of mind that I'm not. I'm not not helping. That's what I would feel like. So I did that. And then I went home last night and, you know, I like giving my wife a break because she's been just dialed in on a every two hour, two and a half hour feed, change, sleep, the whole thing. And so I gave her a break. I was like, I don't really need a break.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Like she loves it that much. But I was like, you should do some new stuff. And so I changed another diaper by myself last night. Oh, how did it go? Perfect. Luckily, it was just pee. But I'm not even that gross. out by it, but I've changed three full diapers by myself. I've probably changed 40 with her,
Starting point is 00:07:54 but I'm just trying to prove to her that you're good. You can leave me for a couple hours with the baby, and we're good. So that was good, had a successful day. It's been a couple hours with the baby last night. I found a new jam. It's one little red fish swimming. It's a jam. It's on my Instagram. Bubble bubble bubble, bubble pop. Yeah. Two little bluefish. It's a great song. You do, you have it down where you kind of are I did that. I didn't know, I was dancing with her. I didn't know I was doing the bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble pop dance on the video until I saw it back. When I saw that, has anybody else like seen that and thought like, I saw that and wondered, like, I wonder what my dad, you know, did he hold me like that and bounce around and sing something and what did he sing? Yeah, that's interesting. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:41 I can't picture my dad doing that with me. Me neither. I probably did. I don't just sing bubble bubble pop. I know. I sing a lot of 90s alternative. It's good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I do my slow version of, chickadee China, the Chinese chicken. So I do that. I do a mix. Yeah. My wife sings a lot of Chris Ableton to her.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Chris Tableton? Mm-hmm. Which ones? Simple country song. Okay. Yeah. It's the kids and the dog and you and me. That song.
Starting point is 00:09:12 I can play just a fraction of it because. My life. Some to see. I like that one. The kids and the dog and you and me. You know what's funny is my oldest son, because we used to sing three little birds to him, Bob Marley. And every time he hears it now, he says, like, I still remember something. He's like, I don't know what I remember, but I remember a feeling when I hear that song.
Starting point is 00:09:39 So I'm like, that's cool. Like, so now maybe, you know, it's been one week comes on later. Your daughter's like, I don't know what. Why don't like that song? Yeah, so that was the thing. Yeah, so that was that and I don't know if there's anything else. It's just when I get home and I didn't get home yesterday that second time until 4, 430 or so. Like it is all baby, which is great.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Like I'm not even complaining about it. And then we're eating at different times because after she has bad acid reflux. So after she eats, she has to like sit up for 20 minutes. So soon as we later down, it's like blah. And so her eating time is like right at dinner time. So I said this before. Like I'll go eat and then I'll hold her up right after my wife feeds her and then she goes and warms up her food and eats and so we got to cycle down but I'm glad her mother-in-law's here because I don't feel as guilty about not being home during the day. So that's mine. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance and then there's your body having its own program.
Starting point is 00:10:43 I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and host of the podcast, a slight change of plan. a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. Hey, Ernest, what's up?
Starting point is 00:11:30 Look, money is something we all deal with, but financial literacy is what helps turn income into real wealth. On each episode of the podcast, Earn Your Leisure, we break down the conversations you need to understand money, investing, and entrepreneurship. From stocks and real estate to credit, business, and generational wealth, we translate complex financial topics into real conversations everyone can understand. Because the truth is, most people will never taught how money really works. But once you understand the system, you can start to build within it. That means ownership, smarter investing, and creating opportunities not just for yourself, but for the next generation. If you want to learn how to build wealth, understand the markets, and think like an owner, earn your leisure is the podcast for you.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Listen to Earn Your Leisure on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hello, gorgeous. It's Lala Kent. Host of Untraditionally Lala. My days of filling up cups at sir may be over, but I'm still loving life in the valley. Life on the other side of the hill is giving grown-up vibes, but over here on my podcast, Untraditionally Lala, I'm still that Lala you either love or love to hate.
Starting point is 00:12:39 I've been full on over sharing with fans, family, and former frenemies like Tom Schwartz. I had a little bone to pick with Schwarzy when he came on the pod. You don't feel bad that you told me I was a bootleg housewife? I almost flipped a pizza in your lap. Oh my God, I literally forgot about it. that until just now. Sorry, I don't want to blame alcohol.
Starting point is 00:12:57 I got to blame that one on the alcohol. This is about laughing and learning when life just keeps on life in. Because I make mistakes so that you guys don't have to. We're growing, we're thriving, and yes, sometimes we're barely surviving, but we do it all with love. It's unruly, it's unafraid,
Starting point is 00:13:14 it's untraditionally la la la. Listen to Untraditionally Lala on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Iris Palmer, and my new podcast is called The and that's exactly what the show is about doing whatever it takes to be thoughts. Starting point is 00:13:40 actress, producer, and director, Eva Longoria. I think I had like $200 in my savings account and my mom goes, what are you going to do? And I was like, I'll figure it out. We got a one-bedroom apartment for like $400 a month and we all could not afford. Like I was like, how am I going to make $100 a month? I'm opening up like I've never before. For those of you who think you know me from what you've seen on social media, get ready to see a whole new side of me. Listen to Against All Odds with Iris Palmer as part of the My Cultura podcast network,
Starting point is 00:14:10 available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Eddie? So last night, my son had a baseball game, my little one, he's seven. they were awesome last night. It's their second game of the season, and they look so good. My mother-in-law went with us, and she was like, how old are they?
Starting point is 00:14:31 Like, they play like their fifth graders. So that's awesome and even better. My son got the game ball. He made this play, which, like, it's funny we've been working on. He has this mentality because he plays shortstop, and he's really good, he's got a great arm, and he's athletic.
Starting point is 00:14:47 But he has this mentality of the ball doesn't come to him. he doesn't have to get it. Like there's other, there's, you know, nine other, whatever, players on the field, they can get the ball. The one that comes to me, I make the play.
Starting point is 00:14:57 I'm like, no, you've got to stop acting like that. Your shortstop. Like back up. If it comes your way anywhere, like run, attack it, and then throw it to first. And he did it like three times.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Dude, he looked so good that he got the game ball. So proud of him. That's cool. Does anybody sign it? No, it's just kind of. Then you should date it. You should put game ball.
Starting point is 00:15:18 was yesterday the 31st, March 31st, 2026. You should put that on there. And then just kind of save it. Yeah. Because otherwise it's just a random ball that was like a game ball from something. It's true. I think it has the coach's initials on it. Yeah, you should date it and put game ball. It's a good idea. Let's see. Let's go. Lunchbox is not here because lunchbox, he's on his press tour. He went to the local news station to talk about being on prices, right? So he left a few minutes ago. So he does not have one because he's not here. But we can go around the room. Morgan, do you have one? Yeah. I had the best day ever yesterday because, I went to the lady doctor and I didn't have to do the
Starting point is 00:15:53 Sturups thing. Yes. Feet in the stirrups? Yeah. Well, you didn't get a pap smear? You don't have to. The new guidelines are that you're supposed to be doing it every three years, not every one year. And nobody told me that.
Starting point is 00:16:05 And I've been doing it every year. And yesterday I found out. And it was, listen, the days leading up going to the OBGYN, I get super anxious of like, my feet are going to have to be in the stirrups. There's a clamp. There's a whole thing that's happening. happening and it's uncomfortable. And yesterday walking in, I had that all anxiety and I sat down. She's like, no, you're actually good until next year. And I, like, you should have seen the relief
Starting point is 00:16:27 in my body just leave. Two months ago, I might be uncomfortable a little bit by this conversation, but having a wife, watching a wife give birth, hey, talk about it more. Let me jump in. You're like, oh, stirrups, yes. I got some stuff to add. That's interesting. I still feel like, like I went last year and then I went a couple of weeks ago. You're older, though. I wasn't told that. But you're older. And I think it depends on different doctors and stuff, but I even researched it because I was so baffled that nobody told me this. And the guideline is from like 25 to 65. If you have healthy cells, they should be doing it. Maybe do I have healthy cells? I don't know. I know for my colonoscopies because of my family history,
Starting point is 00:17:07 at my age, I have to get one every three years. Like no way around it. But, huh, that's interesting. because I still think if even if they told me that though, like if I'm already there, if I'm already there, I'd be like, okay, if there's no difference to you, let's just go ahead and get this over with just in case. Because three years, that feels like, it feels crazy. I feel like every time I look at articles, it's like, cancer on the rise. So I'm like, well. Yeah. And it's all based on you. Every month. I'm here. It is, I agree. It is the most uncomfortable feeling. It's quick. But the end, it's, it's, like the anticipation or what you know is coming, sometimes almost feels worse than the actual
Starting point is 00:17:51 I don't know what that is. That's the scraping. Yeah. On the inside of your body. I have reached my limit though. Okay. I'm not being comfortable. I'm comfortable right now, but I think I've reached my limit.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Okay. Sorry. Yeah, I know. Scraping kind of went over. And the sound effect. But that's true. It's how I feel like it sounds, right? It's like, k.
Starting point is 00:18:12 But see why I was so excited yesterday that I didn't have to do that? Well, that's interesting. I might call my doctor and be like, so I was there two weeks ago and I just heard. Ramundo, anything. Well, my parts are good. But anyways, I was going to say my family and nephew are coming this weekend for Easter. So I'm really excited for that. I haven't seen my parents in a week.
Starting point is 00:18:35 They do like a cross-country trip, but they just keep coming through Nashville. But I haven't seen my nephew in the week ago. They keep coming through. Yeah, they like come through here, go to Georgia, come through here, go to East Tennessee. It's kind of cool. And then my nephew's coming this weekend, too. I haven't seen him in a minute. And he grows an inch, I swear, every time I see him.
Starting point is 00:18:52 So just excited to see the whole family. Abby, you have anything? Yes, the Eagles, the band are coming to Nashville. And I'm going, and I'm so excited in May. That's fun. They're like my favorite band. I saw The Eagles here a couple years ago. I don't go to many shows, but that was a really good show.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Is Vince Gil playing with him? Yeah. Yeah. Is that when one of the members had a cast and he sat on the show you went to? one of the guys I think the bass player He had like a cast And he sat down
Starting point is 00:19:16 I don't think so But I wouldn't die on that hill And then Glenn Fry Had just died And his son took over And that was really cool to see And then scuba I know you're leaving today
Starting point is 00:19:29 Yeah dude that's my good news I'm heading to Orlando For my Universal Orlando For my Universal Orlando broadcast 20 years in the making I'm pretty freaking pumped Are you going by yourself So I had a plus one
Starting point is 00:19:39 And I invited battle So he's coming with me That's awesome Yeah yeah So I figured I had a little sidekick have some help And he's really good at social and video and stuff So it should be fun Battle now has a podcast on our podcast network
Starting point is 00:19:51 A wrestling podcast That's kind of the little brother of the sports shows that we do Because on our network we have 25 whistles and sore losers But battles on with a wrestling show called Battleground Battleground So if you're a wrestling fan Check out Battle on Battleground
Starting point is 00:20:05 All right good job everybody? Everybody feel good? Everybody get it at everybody in? Everybody's in Lunchbox isn't on local news for another nine minutes or we could turn that up. But we wouldn't know when he was going on anyway. Oh, it's live, right? Like, I don't think it's right at 10.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Like, welcome to the show. I know you, first guest, lunchbox, right? Yeah, it's called Talk of the Town. I think it starts at 10. Yeah, but when does he go on? I'm not sure, yeah. I mean, I imagine they put him on first. He's the ace lot.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Is he doing it from here? No, no, it's the local news thing is like right next to the bar going. Okay, so he went to the- guys. Guys, he is living his best life right. This is everything he's wanted to do. Price is right and the local news. he got on.
Starting point is 00:20:44 I bet he's thinking like, wow, this what Bobby must have felt when he was on Dancing with the Stars. And he didn't interview with TV Guide yesterday. What? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:53 He's loving it. That's great. What are you going to say? Yeah. No, the whole thing is just, I hope he sees that the world doesn't hate him. No, he'll be back on it.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Something bad will happen. Next week he'll be back on the all hate train. Yes. Yeah, too-choo. There you go. That's what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good. It's time for
Starting point is 00:21:12 The good news. With Bobby. Tell me something good. These dogs that save lives by smelling things that are happening inside the human body's crazy. This dog detected a blood clot. A guy in Tampa is crediting his guide dog with helping detect a life-threatening health condition that made him seek medical care. This is not even an Apple Watch, guys.
Starting point is 00:21:34 This is a dog. Yeah. Luis Perez, who is visually impaired, was matched with his guide dog, Jerry. And the Black Lab became part of his family. and so not only physically is an emotional support dog that helps manage anxiety and depression, but he had severe pain in his left leg. And so the dog kept pushing his chin in the area
Starting point is 00:21:55 where the pain was happening, like walking up and putting his chin and pushing his head down. And the guy's like, he kept doing it, and he wouldn't let me stand up. So he called his wife over and they were like, we should just go to the emergency room. They go to the emergency room. He has deep vein thrombosis,
Starting point is 00:22:09 a condition involving a dangerous blood clot that could have been fatal if it traveled to his lungs or heart. heart. If it weren't for the dog doing that, they wouldn't have known. Wow. Oh my. That's crazy. That's wild.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Do you think that every dog has this ability or just certain? That one. I think certain dogs have different physical skills. Like labs are sniffers? I don't know. Some are trained. I just know my dog wouldn't be able to do that. He's a bulldog.
Starting point is 00:22:35 But if they're trained to smell like when your insulin drops or something. But I think they use certain dogs for that training. Like they don't take every dog and train them. So I think some dogs have the ability. to do certain things. It's never a chihuahua. It's never a bull to hug. Yeah. People Magazine with that story.
Starting point is 00:22:51 That is a great story. That is what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good. It's time for the good news. With producer Eddie. Tell me something good. Tania Turner is a middle school teacher in Pennsylvania, and for the last five years,
Starting point is 00:23:06 they've been going to Hershey Park as a field trip. It's one of her favorite times a year. The kids love it. But then lately, the school came and said, said, hey, it's not on the budget. We can't do it. So she was bummed. She's like, what do we do? We got to make this happen. She gets online, does a crowdfunding. So she puts it on social media. The kids share it on their social media. Guys, they raised $9,000 and they're going to Hershey Park. Nice. Did you go there? I did. Is that awesome? Awesome. So freaking cool. There's a ride called the Jolly Ranch
Starting point is 00:23:37 remix. One of my favorite rides ever. It feels to me like what I think Charlie in the Chocolate Factory is, like Willie Wonka. It just feels like Hershey. It's all. candy. You're just riding chocolate bars. And maybe then you go get on the gram cracker or roller coaster. And then there's a Hershey Chocolate River. And then there's a jolly rancher. But like all of like concessions or whatever, lots of chocolate everywhere. It's cool.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Is that when you went up to the Hershey School? Yes. Yes. That was really cool. But then after the tour, we celebrated by going to the park. That school's pretty awesome too, right? Oh, the school is amazing. It's really cool.
Starting point is 00:24:07 What they do there is really, really cool. They help a lot of kids. They wouldn't have the opportunity to really like focus in on what they're good at. That Hershey, Milton Hershey? Oh, Milton? Oh, Milton left a lot of money. Like, he had a lot of money, left a lot of money to keep that school going. Yeah, and it's funded by the Hershey Company, so it's really cool.
Starting point is 00:24:23 That's a good story. That is what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good.
