Lots to say with me Bobby Bones and Matt Castle.
You're in training camp and the rookie quarterback has one good throwing session in front of the media.
Suddenly, everybody online says he should start over you week one.
How do you handle this?
You just go back out the practice.
to the next day and wait for him to mess up.

Okay, it's Bobby here, and this will be the only time you hear me doing this, but we are bringing
back the best bits, and as we announced, it's going to be Kickoff Kevin because you guys
demanded more Kickoff Kevin, so this will be the first ever.
What'd you name the show?
A Bobby Bone Show Best Bits with Kickoff Kevin.
Perfect.
easy straight to the point now what's the plan here each weekend because you kind of have freedom to do whatever you want
yeah so there will be roughly 10 to 12 different segments on rotation week to week so you could have you know your caller of the week
bobby's favorite segment of the week the game of the week and nothing's locked in necessarily every single week
but that'll be the theme every single week is that rotation of the best bits so
Can I pick the first bit that you do?
Of course.
Okay.
If I'm going to pick one, I'm going to pick, and one, it was I felt wasn't a throwaway,
but it wasn't something that I felt like it would get the feedback that it got,
was me going to the eye doctor and almost using the bathroom on myself.
Yeah.
I didn't even think about that when I left.
I was just telling the story, and then I got so many messages about that segment.
So can we leave that off with this one?
Of course.
Let's do it.
And then how are you going to go into segments?
And a lot of this too, man, you're going to figure out as you go.
Yeah, for sure.
And it'll be a lot of intros and out.
And like say if I do a Tuesday reviews day as part of it, I'll give a review maybe that you guys made me not a touch on. That's good. That's good. Or, you know, if you like something and I didn't like it, I'll talk about that. Okay. So just some intros and outros talking about it, but not giving away anything either. Okay. So let's do the first bit here. This is my, I'm going to say to me the most feedback I got about any segment this week.
Number seven. I went to the eye doctor and apparently my eyes are trash. Oh. Now I've wear glasses. It's how I see. My right eye is never.
worked my whole life 8% vision my left eye has always been good and it slowly started getting
worse i'm apparently very far-sighted but i wear glasses now to also correct my left eye and i just feel like
i've been i thought i'd just been tired because everything looks blurry and i went in and she says no no no
no you you're like two prescriptions bad here and so it takes a week or so maybe two weeks my glasses
to come in but i had to get a new prescription so i'm excited about that because
Man, what if I'm just so much smarter?
Like, what if there's something that, something that's...
And you can see again?
That I can see.
I can like notice things.
I can read faster.
You start playing the violin.
Like, oh my God, the world could be opening up for me because I didn't know that my vision had gotten so much worse.
Two prescriptions.
Yeah.
That's a lot.
She said I'd let it go so long.
I honestly just thought I was exhausted and so things got blurry in the evening.
I love to read.
Well, then maybe you won't be as tired.
I mean, even that's awesome.
What if it teaches me I'm not tired?
You have all this energy.
Now it's not that I work all day and then go home and have a baby.
It's just my vision's been bad.
So I got some glasses coming in in a week or so.
But there was about a 20 minute spot before I had to go to the eye doctor.
So I came home, had 20 minutes, had quick lunch, got in my car, and drove over to the eye doctor.
And I had ordered these cupcakes.
And I have to order vegan cupcakes because I can't have dairy.
And I ordered them about five days prior.
and they'd stayed in the refrigerator.
What?
I'm curious where this is going to go
because our listener told us that sugar
also makes your eyes blurry.
Oh, and it's nothing to do with eyes.
Oh.
Yeah, let's do with stomach.
So I eat about a half of the cupcake.
They were very big.
They were very good when they were fresh.
I forgot they were in the fridge.
And so I eat half of one.
And I get to the eye doctor
and I feel like in my stomach.
And it's not a, I can't eat dairy.
It's a you made a mistake.
Blah, blah, blah.
And so I'm in, and I do all the tests and they do the,
into the eye and they do the, do you see the little house and how many lines can you read?
And I'm doing all this.
And so then I go in with the actual doctor and they put that big machine on your head.
And they go, this one or that one.
That one or this one.
I have never been on the edge of pooping my pants so much as to right then.
Oh, no.
And this thing's on my head.
And I said, hey, I got to pee.
and she's like, okay, and I pushed the thing away and run out of the room.
She was probably like, what?
Dude, that's not what you do if you have to pee.
No, it's not.
I thought she might be like, okay, well, we just have a few more.
Can you hold it?
I never gave her that option.
And I got to the bathroom right in time.
And it was 15 minutes before I went back.
So she, yeah, that wasn't pee.
You don't pee for 15 minutes.
My stomach, it had to be the cupcake.
It had to be the five-day old cupcake.
It had to have been.
Really?
It's the only thing that I had that was...
But you kept it...
First of all, you had it in the refrigerator,
but second of all,
that's got it, speaking of back to the sugar,
it shouldn't go bad.
And it's vegan.
Yeah, it's the only thing I ate
because most of my diet
is the things I eat every day
so I don't get stomach sick.
What if they weren't vegan?
It's not that...
I'm telling you, it wasn't a dairy thing.
It's a different thing.
But, Amy, dairy hurts my stomach.
It doesn't, maybe go to the bathroom in my pants.
It doesn't...
There's nothing that, like, where it crosses the line
where you're like, oh.
But like, well, but like,
Vegan can still go bad, right?
It's not like a super food.
Whatever the case was.
I mean, I was one second.
It was Western Michigan
versus Michigan football game type.
One second difference.
Had I not got to the...
I would have gone on myself at the eye doctor.
Oh, gosh.
Well, you're not going to eat those cupcakes anymore.
Fresh, I may.
No.
It didn't ruin it from me.
Really?
I made a mistake by not eating
them all fresh.
I ordered nine, and they're massive.
I didn't know what flavor I had.
like when I ordered them.
So ordered like Oreo.
And I don't get to have a lot of good things because I can't eat dairy.
And it was this company that makes everything vegan.
I ordered nine of them.
But it was a rough day.
And then I had to go to some interviews after.
I was sweating the whole time.
Had to do two interviews afterward.
Was that the only time you had to go pee?
Hmm.
Yes.
But I felt like I was on the edge of going to go and pee for the next three hours.
And I would ask Mike, I was like, is it so hot in here?
And he's like, nah.
Sweat beads coming.
Oh, no.
So it was a little.
food poisoning. But the good news is my vision's worse. And that's not good news either.
It was just a rough day altogether.
The Bobby Bones show. Bones. Okay. So how did you feel about doing this show?
I feel great because, I mean, I'm already comfortable with it because I don't know if people know.
Yeah, you edited it. I produce it and edit it for four, over four years now. So I know how it works.
I know the structure. It's going to be a little bit different, but I'm super comfortable going
into it. Yeah, I didn't
know that you did editing on it for that long
and producing it for that long. Yeah,
yeah, it was a weekly thing for
at least four years now.
And, yeah, so
I'm super comfortable with it. And you didn't come
to me to do this. No.
I went to you. Yeah, you came to me.
Well, because listeners are, when you came on the show
and you were like, oh, I'm sad, I didn't get my picture
taken. Then
people started to go, we want more kickoff, Kevin.
Yeah, I know
we've talked about it on the radio show before, but,
But I got a lot of DMs, a lot of comments on socials that were like,
where's Kickoff Kevin?
We want more Kickoff Kevin.
We support you, Kickoff Kevin.
So shout out to listeners because of them.
And then you obviously trusted me and coming to me with this.
Now we're doing it.
Do you have a favorite bit that we can play now?
My favorite one was probably the court that you did with Lunchbox and Eddie this week.
Okay.
So you want to play that one now?
Yeah, let's do it.
Here's the court segment with Lunchbox and Eddie.
Number six.
All right, court is in session.
Music.
This is Bobby Boneshow Court. Lunchbox?
Yes, Your Honor. I have a court case, and I am the plaintiff, and the man sitting to my left.
Eddie will be the defendant.
Me? What?
Oh, do you not know you're in this?
No, what are we talking about?
Okay.
Eddie, you're the defendant.
I guess I'm okay.
Yes, Your Honor.
So there was this guy, his name is Eddie, and he said, hey, let's play golf.
And there was a nice golf course, and I had to make a reservation.
He told me the day, the time he could do it.
I booked the reservation online, and it was pay on receipt.
Like right when you book the tea time, you got to pay.
So I paid $120.
And boom, we're set.
19 hours before the tea time, I get a text from Eddie.
Hey, man, not going to be able to make it tomorrow.
Sorry about that.
I call the clubhouse, and they say, we have a 24-hour window you can cancel.
If it's after 24 hours, you have to pay for the tea time.
so Eddie did not give me enough time to cancel so I was charged the $60.
Your Honor, I am asking you to rule in my favor that Eddie, the man sitting to my left,
owes me $60 because he canceled on me.
I have a gavel to.
Oh, wow, you do.
Wow.
I should have courted in session when it started, but the court is still in session.
And what are you hitting on there?
I don't know, man.
Sletboard?
And this seems like an open and shut case.
I mean, it's slim.
I'll go to the defendant.
Is this America?
Because in America, we get to speak in our defense.
Go ahead.
Your Honor, I understand what the plaintiff is saying.
I do.
But let me tell you that it would have been way worse if I would have gone to play golf with him
because I had found out minutes before I made that phone call that I had COVID.
So I had no reason but to cancel this golf appointment because I didn't want to give him COVID
or anyone else on that golf course COVID.
So he could have easily told the golf course people
that my friend had to cancel
because he has COVID and they would have refunded him the money.
You don't know that for sure.
I mean, but you would think if there's a...
Thank you, Amy.
If that were the case, I would just always call it.
Did you call a witness?
Amy's my attorney.
Well, do you have a doctor's note?
I could probably get a positive test.
It's probably too late now.
It's probably too late now.
Well, no, we can try it and then he can send it to the golf course.
Did you know that a 24-hour cancellation was needed?
idea. I didn't even know that he paid that
in advance. Oh, wow, wow,
wow. Usually, Your Honor,
the customary
way you do that
with golf is you pay when you get there. You set
the tea time up and then you pay when you arrive to
the golf course. Correct, but you had extra
time that day and you said, let's go to one of the nicer
courses. It's a little bit outside of town.
Not just the regular muni that's
right down the road that you can cancel
any time. You only have to show up and they don't
charge you. You picked this
course and let's go play there.
And that is why we were playing there.
Is that true?
That's not why I pissed that.
I didn't pick that course.
I didn't pick that course because it was fancier.
It was just one that we hadn't played in a while.
Okay, do you both agree that whatever my verdict is, you will live by it and abide by what I say?
We do.
Oh, man.
You brought this to the court, right?
Are you scared now?
You scared?
Your Honor, I go to court because I trust America.
Trust the system.
The justice system is perfect in America.
Never messes up.
No, that's not true.
I know what I'm going to mess up.
That's not true.
You both agree, though, with what I say that will...
Correct.
We agree.
So, is there anything else that you need to say?
I am closing arguments?
I am just saying he could have even said the day before, hey, I'm starting to not feel good.
He could have given me...
It's not like he just woke up in that minute.
He's like, oh, I got COVID.
19 hours before our tea time.
I feel like leading into that day, he probably felt bad.
That's an assumption.
Objection.
Shut up.
opposing arguments, Eddie?
Yeah, guys,
look, it's straightforward.
I had COVID.
I couldn't go play golf.
I would have loved to have gone to play golf.
Honestly, if I wouldn't have gone to the doctor and found out that had COVID,
I probably would have just sucked it up and gone to play golf anyway.
Okay.
Excuse me while I go back to my chambers?
Oh, gosh, okay.
Court is in recess.
I'm back.
Oh, we're back.
Hey, everybody, hey, everybody.
Got a bird.
It got a bird.
Everybody back to the court.
I thought about this for a long time, six seconds.
And I understand lunchbox.
frustration. I really do. Thank you, Your Honor.
I would also be frustrated if I paid money
up front and then could not
get my money back because somebody
didn't let you know in time. Now, I also
understand health. Health is not something
you can control. It is
not something you can control in any way.
And so, you know what they call me? Back
in law school, they called me Mr. Nuisance.
Oh. Yeah. Yeah, because
you know, everything doesn't have to be black
or white, or sorry, in you two cases,
brown or white. Everything doesn't have to be brown
or white. Okay.
So what I'm going to rule is, Eddie.
Yes, sir.
It is not your fault that you got COVID.
Correct.
However, for some reason, he was the person that was obligated to pay to set the reservation.
He did that.
That's right, Your Honor.
Your Honor, can I add that he did that on his own will?
He never asked me if he should pay.
Oh, hold on.
I go back to my chambers.
Crap.
Crap.
Is that true?
Is that true?
Court.
Your honor.
Is that true?
Your hand on the Bible.
No, I'm asking you a question.
Is that true?
Hold on.
Did he know nothing about it?
Closing arguments are done.
I know.
But I'm asking you a question.
Did he know nothing about it?
You're doing that?
Well, he asked me to book the tea time.
Yeah, he said book it.
He did not say, hey, if it's back.
So if lunchbox didn't book it, then how were you planning on getting on the course?
Exactly.
Thank you, Amy.
Thank you.
I called my witness.
Amy, you're my attorney.
So this is what I have ruled.
I have ruled
Eddie
Yes
You must pay lunchbox
$31
More than half
More than half
More than half
Your honor
And lunchbox you're not going to get stiff
Because right now you have nothing
And you're going to get nothing
He's going to give you no money as it is
Because he thinks that he is completely in the right
Because he had COVID
And that gives him the right to just
You know
Tell everybody to piss off
Your Honor
How about $31 in two jars of salsa
How about $31 and a jar?
of salsa.
No.
Final.
Hold on.
Can I talk to one?
Oh, I broke my.
Oh, man.
It cracked in half.
Yes.
Your honor.
Oh, man.
I broke my begaval.
Oh, no.
I have ruled.
And if you want to appeal, we don't do that here.
Okay.
Can we settle outside of court?
No.
There's no settling.
$31 in a jar of salsa.
That is my, my verdict.
All rise.
All rise.
I'm going back to my chamber.
Thank you, Your Honor.
Thank you for having this.
I feel like this is fair and nuanced.
I've never actually heard that prosecution
like asked the judge to add more,
like having a certain negotiation.
Yeah, that was weird.
Yeah, that's weird, but I liked it.
I liked it.
Okay, case dismissed.
Okay, one other question for me here.
So you're going to choose from a bunch of different categories each week.
Now, are you going to look at, I don't know,
the Instagram segment?
of the week that got the most, are you using data at all?
Yeah, I'll use some data.
I'll look at comments because comments are big too on social media.
So whatever got the most comments back, whether it's a lunchbox bit or you at the doctor,
Amy doing some parenting stuff with her daughter or son, whatever got the most feedback
from the audience and the most interactions, that'll likely be on there as well.
Like this week with Lunchbox and his Vegas disease.
Why, you want to do that now?
That had a lot of people commenting on it.
So what would this category be?
This would be Lunchbox's latest disease.
That's the category?
You're going to do it?
He has a new disease every week?
No, no, but this is the latest one.
Oh, okay.
So, got it, got to go.
Okay, let's play this one now.
We've got three done so far.
Here is kickoff Kevin's bit.
This is Lunchbox's latest disease.
Number five.
Lunchbox has a new disease.
I've not heard of this disease.
Lunchbox, what happened?
Man, my throat started hurting on Saturday.
Like, just, ow, like, kind of uncomfortable.
When you were in Las Vegas.
When I was in Las Vegas.
And Sunday, it was like, oh my gosh.
And Monday, I was swallowing razor blades.
Like, it hurts so bad.
I was like, man, I wonder if I got strep.
I'm nervous.
So I went to the little urgent care and they did the swab for strep negative.
And she was like, oh, let me try flu.
Nope.
She goes, let me try COVID.
Nope.
She goes, have you done any travel lately?
I said, yeah, I just got back from Las Vegas, the I Heart Festival.
You know what I was working backstage, you know, bopping around.
She goes, oh, you got Vegas throat.
What?
That's the disease.
Yeah, Vegas throat.
Apparently the dry air sometimes can really mess with people's throat because of lack of humidity
and it takes away some protective layering on your throat.
And when you get home, it takes three to five days for your throat.
to get back to normal.
So he didn't drink enough water.
No, no, no.
She didn't say anything about drinking water.
She said, Vegas throat.
It's because there's no humidity,
so it takes away some protective layer.
Did you tell the doctor that you were drinking
and that you yell a lot when you drink and you were gambling?
So I looked up Vegas throat.
It's a dry, scratchy, or horse throat.
Yeah.
Caused by the desert air in Las Vegas
mixed with cigarette smoke and casinos and vocal strain.
That's it.
but yeah she no because you screamed the whole time she told me i have vagus throat
and so i was like man what's worse vagus throat or when you had the yeast infection
oh let him answer let him make because apparently no no no yeast infection you can kill
with antibiotics this is just you got to sit and wait you got to leave Vegas well yeah but which
one you want to like admit to that's true i'd rather have Vegas throw every day all day no
No, no, because you guys don't know.
A sore throat might be the worst thing you can get.
And he had COVID during vacation.
Terrible.
Terrible.
Terrible.
Yeah.
And every time you swallow, you're like, oh, man.
We've had a sore throat.
Yeah, we all know, man.
Yeah, we're familiar with what it feels like.
Because when she looked in there, she goes, oh, that is really red.
So what would you like from us?
Something like, just be nicer, sympathy.
You know what I mean?
If you wouldn't scream and you would drink more water and you wouldn't stay up all night.
But, I mean, I mean.
I didn't know I could get Vegas throat.
I never heard of that.
It's also not a real disease.
I'm just looking at it up.
It's just what people call it.
You guys went to Vegas.
Did you guys get Vegas throat?
Nope.
I kept normal throat.
No,
feel good.
Yeah.
Drink a lot of water.
It went to bed normal time because I know I got to come back and do the show and I'm not
irresponsible.
No, no,
but I knew I had to come back and do the show.
And I've been here even though I got Vegas throat.
Like, I mean, I power.
You guys want to go fund me for him?
I powered me.
You guys want to get to go find me from Vegas.
That would be a, that would be a very generous thing to do.
Yeah, yeah. We'll have a meeting after the show and see if we can put together a go fund me.
I'm telling you guys, next time you go, do not get Vegas throat.
Thank you. You're the voice of Vegas throat.
The Bobby Bones show.
All right, so I'm going to let you handle the rest of this because you have four more that you're going to do.
I mostly just wanted to come on and let the listeners know that this is back.
They wanted this back.
They wanted you to be on more.
And so that's what we decided to do here.
So I'll give you the rest.
You probably won't hear from me for a lot.
long time. Not you. I'll see you every day.
Yeah. But I mean, I just wanted to come on for the first episode and just kind of hear from you
and explain to our listeners what was going on. So you got it from here?
Let's do it. All right. I'm passing it over. Here's the torch to kick off Kevin.
The Bobby Bones show. Bob it Bones.
The long loading times. The glitchy video calls. That's your house asking for better internet.

Lisa, we should tell them about our new show.
Oh my God, Lexi.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Youanu.
We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one,

That is wild.
I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes,
good taste is my business.
And I've always got something to say.
If men were just honest about this,
there would be so much more peace in the world.
We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty,
getting older, and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree.
Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight,
but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.

Okay.

Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?
No!
I've been dying too.
I'm so sorry.
I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald's

That's crazy.
I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday,

No way.

You're not broken.
You're having a normal human experience, and we have a solution for that.
And that solution is our show Free Therapy.
I'm Ben.
And I'm Kevin.
And we think everyone could use a little bit of therapy, including us.
Absolutely.
That's why each week, we sit down with a different therapist to talk about the things we're all dealing with.
If you're trying to get rid of anxiety, you're actually fueling more anxiety.
We talked to some of the leading therapists in the country about all of life's headaches,
work, family dynamics, and of course, dating in relationships.
Everyone chooses a different set of problems, challenges, flaws.
You have to figure out which set of problems you're willing to work with.
So listen to free therapy with Ben and Kevin on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Because therapy is expensive, but our podcast is free.
Hi, it's Alec Baldwin.
This season on my podcast, here's the thing I'm speaking with more artists,
policymakers, and performers like actor Stephen Root.
I think for me to be any good or for any character act to be any good,
you've got to put enough of yourself and your empathy for people in it.
I'm a people watcher.
You see that guy going down the dream and go, yeah, I can use that.

And actress and singer Melissa Eriko.
Partnership took on a whole other meaning when I started making my own work.
It's like you with a great actress or actor.
It was best to come out of your trailer, full of life, and just face another person.

Is there an epidemic against literature?
More specifically, black literature.
Our books are being banned, scanned by AI, and
destroyed. I'm Jack Wee's Peace Thomas,
and on this season of the Blacklit podcast,
we're outside asking some of the custodians of our
stories, teachers, and our modern day writers,
They don't want a whole bunch of little Ella bakers, Michael Maxes, and Martin Luther King's running around.
They want to build children who have no empathy.
That's really the ultimate goal.
We want books that don't make white kids feel bad.
So is the war on literacy and information or our ability to connect?
We want people to know how sexy reading is and how fun they could be and not always associated with education.
It could be an escape.
It could be entertainment.
And that is the beauty of reading.
It can be all of those things.
And considering this is Black Reading Month, the only real question is, what are you reading next?
Listen to Black Lit from the Black Effect Podcast Network on our iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
All right, as Bobby said, I will take it from here and count down the rest of the best bits this week.
So coming in next is going to be our caller segment of the week, which is something I'm going to have on the rotation.
So all of our callers out there, whether you leave a voicemail or if you call it,
into the show, you could be featured on the best bits of the week as our caller segment
of the week.
So make sure you get those calls in 877-Bobby.
Like you said, leave a voicemail if it's on the weekend, call during the live show,
whatever it might be.
And this week was Justin.
Justin called in and talked to the show about something I'd never heard of a man, I guess,
talk about doing for himself.
But I can't really explain it without explaining it.
So let's have Justin explain it.
And get to the bit right here.
Number four.
Justin and Mississippi is on.
And so, Justin, you're a dude, right?
Oh, yeah, of course.
Okay.
I don't know any chick's name, Justin.
Besides Justina, maybe, but, you know.
Well, it says that you got a mammogram, and I just wanted to make sure.
Oh.
I know, I know.
It can be very confusing.
Very confusing.
Yeah, tell me the story here.
All right, so I developed a, or I noticed a knot on my chest,
and so I went to my, you know, PCM.
primary care manager and uh she was like hey man what is this i don't know what it is you know
it's not like i was you know checking myself in the shower like you know they tell women to do
i just noticed it and um so i go in and he's like oh man i don't know what that is hey you know
we're gonna send you to the breast clinic i'm like breast clinic i said that's where chicks go
you know um hey can we call like the pectoral clinic or something because yeah yeah yeah you know
It just sounds more masculine that way.
So anyways, I show up down there.
I'm the only dude in the office besides two guys that are there with their wives.
And a nurse comes out and she's like, Mr. Insert last name.
And I'm like, oh, or Mrs. Insert last name.
And I'm like, don't you mean Mr?
It's quite understandable.
I'm probably the only guy that comes in here, right?
And they take me back.
And I kind of get like a VIP rock star experience because they took,
me through all the clinical areas, the offices, you know, not where the commoner women go,
because I guess I'm a creep or something.
Maybe I'm a little, I don't know, they thought it's pervy.
Yeah, you're the rare.
Yeah, you can't.
Yeah, you can't walk through with, yeah, but yeah, you get it.
Okay, go ahead.
Yeah, I guess, I guess they feel vulnerable and a guy walking through with, you know,
that's it.
A little uncomfortable there, right?
You know what I'm saying?
Okay.
But anyways, I go in there, they do an ultrasound first, and they kind of spook me out.
and they're like, oh, the doctor wants to do a mammogram.
And I'm like, I didn't come in here for that, okay?
And don't I have to, like, go to an OB for that or something?
I was totally confused, you know?
Because I don't decide if I had to have a mammogram, I was going to use my wife's OB.
We kind of have something in common, you know.
We both seen my wife naked.
Okay.
So I was like, you know, I'll just excuse him.
And, but anyways, yeah, they do those at the breast clinic, apparently.
And so.
He doesn't have.
Obes not have a bad chested or nothing
Okay, go ahead
I'm not flat chested
I do work out some
You know but still
I don't know how the women do it
It's rather difficult
Especially if you're A cup
To try to get into that machine
You know what I'm saying
Because it's got to smush you down right
Yes yes
And that lady bel asked her heart
The nurse that helped
She tried her hardest
To get as much of it in there
You know and I'm like
I don't know what you're taking a picture of
Because there ain't much in there you know
So what ended up happening
Well, so the doctor came in and talked to me, and they're like, well, your breast tissue looks fine.
It's all real fatty, and apparently that's good for it to be fatty.
And so now, like, October, I've got to go get an MRI because they're like, it's probably in the muscular layer.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Maybe tore muscle or something.
But it's not cancer or anything.
No, no.
So it is movable, and they did say that, okay, well, it moves.
It's soft and all that kind of stuff.
So, you know, normally if there's cancer, so it would be, you know, it stays still and it'd be a little harder but not, you know.
I don't know.
I like to sit there and play with it because it's right close to my sternum and I'll kind of move it back and forth.
Yeah, it's nervous.
My coworkers look at me funny, but.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I get that.
So I do my long hair.
It tickles my neck, so I like play with it sometimes because it's new.
Well, I think there's a good message here.
If something's wrong, go get it checked out.
And guys can get breast cancer.
That's crazy.
I think it's like one in a thousand.
I don't know if you made that number up
I just looked it up
Oh you did?
Well then why'd say I think
Why doesn't that look like?
Yeah yeah
Well, I just did a quick search
I don't have all the information
But I do know that men can get it
It's so yeah
I mean absolutely if you find a knot
You need to address it
Justin, I appreciate that
Thank you for the call
Thank you for the story
Hey anytime
Anytime Bobby I thought you'd find it interested
So
All right buddy
Yeah
This next bit I'm going to call Eddie's dad's segment of the week
because Eddie is a dad of four boys.
A lot of you probably already know that if you're listening to this.
And his house can get a little chaotic to say the least.
But this one was a little different because this wasn't about the boys getting in trouble.
It wasn't about the boys playing sports.
It's about one of his sons wanting to play the violin.
And Eddie was surprised by his son wanting to play the violin when choosing an elective.
So in true radio fashion, you take a recording of your son playing the violin.
He's about a month in and bring it into the studio to let everyone hear just how good or progressive his son is getting a month into the violin itself.
But he also wanted to bring everyone into his household in general and kind of have them not a sneak peek, but an earpeak.
I don't even know if that's probably not a thing, but an ear peek into his house and listen, just how chaotic it can be.
So, without saying anymore, here is Eddie's dad segment of the week.
Number three.
A few weeks ago, Eddie was talking about his son wanting to play violin.
It was kind of out of nowhere, right?
Yeah, something like the school was like, hey, you guys got to pick an elective.
And he was like, I want to play the violin.
Like, what?
Out of everything.
And he's my little athlete.
And like of all instruments.
The violin?
The violin.
Who plays the violin?
I think it'd be awesome, too.
So I'm not saying the violin's bad.
It was just random.
It was so random.
It's not his style.
And then, yeah, where are we going to get a violin from?
So.
Where did you get a violin from?
A music store.
The school kind of helps you like, hey, this is a good place to get it.
And then we ended up renting it.
I didn't find, I didn't find that out to later, but you can rent it.
Thank goodness.
What do you guys pay a month?
I don't know.
I didn't ask.
Dude, there are certain things that I don't ask because I don't want to get in a bad mood.
And that's one of them.
I did not ask.
If he breaks it.
Oh, yeah.
I asked about that.
If you break it, you have to buy the whole thing, which is like, I don't know,
600 bucks or something.
So Eddie has brought in a recording.
I wanted to kind of share with you his progress of playing the violin.
And I also wanted to kind of just give you a taste of what it's like in my house.
So he's how old?
He's 11 years old.
And how long has he been studying and practicing the violin?
Since the start of school, which we're in, what, Amy, week four?
Well, it's been a month over a month.
We got a month of practice with an 11 year old with a violin for the first time.
This is it.
Here we go.
I mean, he's playing the same string over and over.
But that's how you learn.
I know.
And apparently that song's called Mississippi Hot Dog.
Did you hear him say, Mississippi Hot Dog?
And then he bust into it.
I didn't know what I was hearing.
I heard a symphony of your whole house, though.
Dog, other kids.
There's a kid playing basketball.
How often does he practice?
Every day, every day, man.
If there's not a game, like if there's a game, we put in kind of like,
don't worry about practicing tonight.
You have to tell him?
Yeah, because he loves it.
And there's something about him caring.
the case around like hey dad can you make sure this is cool and he puts it by my guitar so he kind of
feels like a musician in a weird way but what do you is what do you guys think i mean it wasn't as bad
as i thought it wasn't as bad as i was gonna be like it wasn't that and i'm looking at mississippi hot dog
right now i mean he nailed the d d d d d dda da da yeah i don't in my streaming i don't see anything
about mississippi hot dog so i don't get to know that song oh like
it's not in your streaming service.
It's not available.
M-I-S-S-I.
Hot dog.
My S-S-I.
H-O-T.
M-I-S-I-S-I-P-P-I.
Mississippi hot dog.
Nope.
It's not in there?
There's hot dog, hot dog.
No, I think you should let him keep at it.
No, I mean, he's going to keep doing it.
I just, I wanted it.
Guys, come on.
Like, does this sound like a violin player to you?
Yes.
It's been playing a month.
It was much better than I thought it was.
Yeah.
All right, maybe it's my ears.
Maybe I don't want to hear it.
Is he practicing downstairs?
Yeah, he kind of practices amongst everyone else.
Oh, he does.
Yeah, like, I told him, like, the first couple times, like,
hey, go to your room or whatever in practice,
and it didn't really make him feel good.
He likes kind of, he looks, he practices and then looks at us, like,
to look for approval.
Do you give it to him?
Nah.
No.
Do you wish you would change instruments?
Yes.
Like, see, I would like for them to play the drums or something?
Oh, my gosh.
No, no.
How about guitar?
because you play guitar.
I would love that.
Drums would be terrible.
It'd be worse than this.
But did he'd be like a drummer?
Because your other kids would also be slamming drums for no reason.
That's just because Eddie doesn't think this is cool.
I think it's cooler than guitar.
I think violin is cooler than guitar.
I think if I were rating instruments on coolness,
if I wanted a kid to learn, I'd go piano at one.
Universal, all types of music.
There's pianos everywhere.
Nothing cool.
And seeing someone go, yeah, I'll play a little something.
That's cool.
That's impressive.
And it's,
If you play piano, though, you can play pretty much any instrument.
That's true.
But that's something that only musicians know.
But like the ordinary person, like lunchbox, does lunchbox think the violin or piano is cool?
Lunchbox, do you think playing the piano will be cool?
No.
No.
But you're using him.
I think drums are a lot cooler.
Or the electric guitar.
That's cool.
That's cool.
Look who you're using as your reference.
I know.
You're right.
Mr. Cool.
I thought he sounded great.
I applauded him.
I gave him approval there.
Sounds good.
Bobby Bones show.
Now this next category, I have a feeling, is going to make it quite a bit in the rotation of best bits.
And that's going to be the game of the week.
If you know anything about this show, you know they love to play games.
And it can be very entertaining.
This week was a movie character name game.
Bobby gave the first name.
They had to give the last name.
And some of them are a little harder than you think.
You think you know the character based on one.
when you hear the first name and then the second name will pop up,
but sometimes you forget that movie characters even have a last name.
So this one was surprisingly tough for some, easy for others,
and at the end, of course, there's always a winner
and a few show members who feel that they were close, but yet so far.
Number two.
I'm going to give you the first name of a movie character.
You got to give me their last name.
So the movie Halloween.
Amy, if I said Michael from Halloween.
Myers.
Yeah.
Oh, good job.
Everybody got it?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, I'm going to give it to.
You only have 10 seconds.
Okay.
Okay, here we go.
Marty from back to the future.
What's Marty's last name?
I'm in.
I'm in for the win.
Amy.
Mcfly.
Lunchbox?
Mcfly.
Eddie?
Mcfly.
Correct.
Clark from Superman.
Whoa.
Whoa.
I'm going softball here at the beginning.
I almost went somewhere else.
I went Christmas vacation.
Clark Lee, Vanderbilt Head Football Coach.
I'm in for the win.
I'm in.
This is so easy.
One, two, three.
Kent.
Good.
All right, let's level it up a little bit.
Slightly harder.
Captain Jack from Pirates of the Caribbean.
I'm in.
I'm in for the win.
One, two, three.
Sparrow.
Good.
I heard that's a good movie.
Good.
Okay, let's go do some little harder.
Jack from Titanic.
That's really hard.
Yeah.
What?
You guys are getting a little too cocky, so I just jumped down to the bottom of the page.
Okay.
Jack from Titanic.
Jack.
Jack.
Jack.
Just Jack.
You got 10 seconds.
Starting with.
Well, when I said just you have 10 seconds.
Jack.
Jack.
Jack.
Jack.
All right, everybody pins down.
Wow.
Lunchbox.
Jack Smith.
Eddie.
Jack Harlow.
No.
Amy.
Jack Johnson.
No.
You guys both did pick musicians, though.
What is?
Jack Dawson.
Dawson.
I mean, that still doesn't sound familiar.
It doesn't either.
Amy, I just want to say like a...
Okay.
Daniel from the Karate Kid.
I'm in.
What's the last name?
Daniel.
Of Daniel from the Karate Kid.
Okay.
Oh, man, Daniel.
Three seconds?
Lunchbox.
Son.
Daniel Son.
Interesting.
He does say that.
Daniel Son.
Interesting, interesting.
Yeah, that's what he says over and over.
I can't remember.
Well, I've had son.
That's hilarious.
Eddie?
Laruso.
Correct.
That's it.
Good job.
Andy from The Devil Wears Prada.
What?
So if you gave you a karate kid, we had to go on the
female side of things too. I get it. Okay, but
Andy
from the devil wears Prada.
What's Andy's last name?
Andy, so.
Andy. I'm in.
I'm in.
Pins down. Lunchbox?
Bracilla.
Amy? Hothaway.
Eddie? Smith.
Nah, SACCHS. S-A-C-H-S.
Oh. Okay.
Three more.
Kevin from home alone.
I'm in.
I'm in.
I'm in for the win.
Lunchbox?
McAllister.
Amy?
McAllister.
Eddie?
I have McAllister.
Good.
Two more.
Eddie has a lead by one.
Regina from Mean Girls.
I'm in.
I'm in.
I'm in for the win.
Lunchbox.
Plastic.
Eddie.
Specter.
Regina Specter.
She's an artist, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Amy?
George.
Yeah, Regina George.
All right.
Last one.
Eddie and Amy.
lunchbox four
final one

Is it holiday?
No.
Okay, good.

Lisa?
We should tell them about our new show.
Oh my God, Lexi.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Iwano.
We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa DiGulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references,
occasionally different opinions.
And at this point in my 50s, I've loved.
lived at all.
I'm not going to get anyone you're fighting.
That is wild.
I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business.
And I've always got something to say.
If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world.
We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree.
Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Liar.

It was best to come out of your trailer, full of life, and just face another person.
and who's full of life.
And don't talk.
Listen to Here's the Thing
on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, what's up, y'all?
It's Questlove.
And on the Questlove show,
I've been sitting down
with some really interesting people,
and I've got two recent episodes
you should check out.
I caught up with my good friend Jojo
to talk about her music,
her career, and what she's been up to.
Don't invite me to karaoke.
I'm going to make it weird.
Someone's going to try to sing,
leave get out, or too little, too late,
or baby to you.
Oh, no.
And I'm going to be like, okay, cool.
I also caught up with Wally-2-67
for a conversation that covered his story,
his perspective, and plenty more.
I don't even call it cheat day.
That's a life day.
I'm not doing nothing.
Don't try to be slick and just go Sunday.
Go Wednesday.
This what you do.
Sleep later.
Make a reservation for the rest of a later later.
Just chill.
Listen to the music you want to listen to.
Just enjoy it.
It's going to be all right.
Nothing's going to have you a wig up Wednesday.
I'm like, ah.
And you're going to feel better.
And those are just two of the many recent episodes of the Questlove show.
Listen to the Questlove show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, wherever you get your podcast.
Peace.
And number one on the best bits this week is going to be none other than the man himself, Kenny Chesney.
Now, I'm going to call this the guest of the week.
So if we have a guest in studio that week, then I will put this on the best bits and call it the guest of the week.
I have a feeling this will also be in rotation quite a bit.
And it is only fitting that as we bring the best bits back,
we get possibly the best guest that comes in, comes in a lot.
He's a huge name, sells out arenas, sells out stadiums,
sells out basically everything and anything.
He's got a new album, Silver Sands Marina.
So go check out that album.
It's awesome.
It's great.
Song Carry On.
Recently went number one.
Of course, just another number one for Kenny.
It just seems like very normal.
anything he puts out. It's great. So check out that album, download, stream, watch, whatever you
need to do to consume that album. Big thanks to Kenny for coming in. Here is Kenny Chesney in
studio. Number one. Let's go! On the Bobby Bones show now.
Kenny Chesney. How you doing, Bobby Bones? I'm doing pretty good. What do you,
what do you've been up to? Everything. Do you have a point where you go, okay, funds over,
now I've got to dedicate myself calendar-wise to doing everything to... Or is it... It's crazy.
I know, look, I try to, within songs, I've even written it and sang about it, trying to live in the moment.
But it's almost impossible for me to do it when you're constantly planning to do something else.
Can I ask you a weird question?
Why do you grind so hard still now when you're one of the most successful people ever in the history of music to do it?
I'm addicted to it, I think.
Do you still find joy in it?
Sure.
Or do you find relief when it doesn't go bad?
Well, you find a relief when it doesn't go bad even when you're starting.
You know, I mean, that's part of being doing what we do.
But I truly still enjoy it.
I really do.
I love finding great songs.
And I love giving them to the world.
I love it.
And I love being on stage.
You know, I wouldn't say that, you know, yeah.
I mean, there's really nothing that I still don't love about it.
Not even the traveling part of it.
I travel pretty good.
Yeah, you mean like comfortably?
Yeah.
Pretty comfortably.
It's probably not as difficult as it used to be.
So I fly in, yeah, like it used to be.
I mean, I was gone so long on the bus that I would literally pack to come home.
Everything I had was out there.
So now, though, let's just say, you know, next summer, I will fly in to the first show and then I will fly home after the last one.
So it's not like it used to be.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And we'll play three shows a week probably.
How do you do a show that big on that scale, meaning?
the instruments are playing and your ears are playing
but the crowd's hearing it
and they're hearing it differently up top
because of the sound different
it just feels like that would be hard to do
well I have a very great sound engineer
he was with Tom Petty before he started with us
and he's been doing this a long time
in those environments
so we work really hard on making it sound great
but if you're out on the catwalk
or whatever you call the
the tea
yeah and you're all the way
out there. Are you hearing everything
at the exact time the band is playing it? Because they're also
singing it back slightly off. Yeah,
pretty much so. I mean, like, it,
sometimes it's
a little off, but I've gotten so used to it.
I mean, Bobby, you could blindfold me
up there on that tee, and I can go back and forth.
I've done it so many times. I know
exactly how many steps I've got.
And I'd never fall off probably.
Although I say that, and I fell off
on night. Oh, no. I really did.
One of the first times we played
Foxboro.
Now I have a carpet, this thin carpet gray, all over the whole tee.
The first time I played that stadium and that stage, my foot got caught.
And we didn't have the carpet and my foot got caught on a piece of the stage.
And I went, whom.
And the first thing that hit the stage was the microphone.
It was like loud everywhere.
But, yeah, I say that I could do that.
But I have fallen off stage before.
What part of your body hit when that happened?
My left shoulder.
Any injury or were you fortunate it was your shoulders?
It was crazy.
I was just like there was no hiding it, right?
And I just laid there for about 20 seconds.
Did this really happen?
And the longer I laid there, the louder of the crowd got, I said, okay, everything's okay.
But that did happen.
How do you rehearse a show that big?
Do you rent a stadium?
Yeah.
Do you rent a stadium?
Here's what we do.
We have a pretty big rehearsal hall.
and then we set everything up
kind of the way we think it's going to be
and then
like every year
I mean for the last several years
we've opened our tour in Tampa
and we're going to do that again next summer
and we'll be there
for a week
before the first show
like in the stadium
in the stadium? Do you rent the stadium for a week?
Week
and so that's the only way to do it
you know we're there
and you know there's so many moving parts
that goes into it
and you can't simulate that in a really small space
or even in a really big rehearsal space
so you have to go and set everything up to see how it looks
and if something's not right you got to fix it
and you have to pay every day
when you rent that stadium
so is that every stadium or just your first one?
Just the first one.
Okay so then after that
after that you just like a regular tour.
Let me set this again. You have to pay every day
for that stadium rental. Every day that you're in it
you have to pay for it. Maybe they give you a
discount.
You get a stadium on punch card?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You get a stadium on punch card after the fourth, you get a fifth night for free?
Can you do whatever you want in that stadium for those days?
Great.
Could you remind me when we play flag football in there?
Right.
We can do everything that's, we can do anything we want that's legal.
Wow.
So we get a flag football game.
It's great.
Yeah, we could play.
I mean, one year we watched the final four on our big screen in there.
We had a bar set up on stage and we watched the final four up there one year.
It was great.
and you still love doing that.
I love it.
What's your favorite part of what you do?
We spend so much time questioning ourselves.
Okay, well, is this music going on?
You're in the studio so long and you're in this creative space
and you're on this journey to make a record
and you hope that your instincts are correct
and you hope that what you work so hard on
that it will seep into the world
and the people out there will accept it
and it will give them positive energy and love and, you know, just what music does to people.
There's a level of anticipation that they have for that moment, for that night.
But it's the same thing for us.
And so we have this anticipation.
And so when those two energies, you have the energy of the crowd,
you have the energy of the sound system and the band,
and all of a sudden we're there.
When those two things meet, it's an amazing experience.
and it's an addiction that I can't explain.
The album is out today.
It's called Silver Sands Marina.
And I think a lot of people don't,
and I didn't until I got into it,
even know what a new record label means or what that.
Right.
So how are you different?
Are you Kenneth Chesney now that you've changed record?
No, it's great.
It feels incredible to have your own record label.
So what do you get to do different?
That means I can do anything I want whenever I want to do it.
And I actually could then.
But, you know, I just, I'm very fortunate to be in a position in my career and in my life to not be on the same treadmill that a lot of artists are on.
You know, and I felt like that we've worked very hard to be in this position.
And I just built my own team.
What are you like in the studio?
We can even talk about this record specifically.
But do you go in, do it once, piece out everybody, do it twice, figure it out everybody?
Like, what are you like in studio?
I live.
within that music.
You know, it took us three years to do Silver Sands Marina
because, not because we,
because every record is different, you know?
But I was, I did two summers at Sphere.
I wrote a book, put it out, as you know,
which takes a lot of brain energy.
And so the creative process was just, you know,
it was when I could do it.
And I give everything to it.
It's not like I just go in there and sing
and let everybody do what they're supposed to do.
I mean, Buddy and I are in there.
I have my fingers and my brain on everything.
I really do.
So it takes a minute.
And I do it that way because I care.
I don't understand how people just go in there and sing and see how it comes out.
I've never been able to do that.
Are you able to, when it's over,
when you finish doing the record,
when the tour finishes,
can you just unplug and relax and go somewhere with water
and not think about music?
We are getting ready to see.
I'm very excited about that.
So I'd like to say yes, and I've done it.
But I think one of my things that I'm working on is learning how to do just that to let my central nervous system calm down.
Because I'm always thinking of the next thing.
And I guess, I don't know.
I spent so much time early on trying to make it happen and doing everything I could possibly, you know, working really hard to make this happen.
And so I have struggled over the years and just being still.
Willie Nelson wrote a song once called Still is Still Moving to Me.
And I love that.
I never knew what it meant until now, you know.
But the answer to your question is yes, here hopefully soon.
I want to try to be still for a minute.
Well, you would think you give some of your vibe.
Like you have different parts of you, right?
Like we have Pimo Kinney.
I'm very complicated.
But I feel like you give a vibe that you would be able to go to somewhere and unplug and relax.
Yeah, I mean, I can.
But even if it's...
But I get it.
Your nervous system, like, you can't control that.
No.
So it's still just like going.
Yeah, I'm like, hmm.
Okay, because I don't...
Because I feel like you want that for your fans.
Like, come here, relax, unplug from the world.
Come to my show.
I'm going to give you this.
No, I've written and released songs about it.
Yes.
You know, but I can...
write songs about it and release songs about it.
I didn't say I knew how to do it.
Do as I say, not as I do?
Yes, yeah.
I just preach the stuff, you know what I?
What SPF sunscreen do you use?
It's gotten bigger.
Around 30 now.
Usually, you know, early on, I was on a boat, you know,
this is great, but now I take care of my skin a little better.
You know what I mean?
I like, I, there's a lot, though, that, you know,
I think none of us act like we did
10 years ago. I don't anyway. I can't because when I
get injured it doesn't heal. Right. Like that's the thing for me about getting older
has been, I still feel the same in my mind. Me too. No doubt. I'm a child. I'm a child
with experience. So I feel very childlike in many ways, but I do have
some experiences that at times can weigh in on those childlike thoughts. Yes.
It's
But I also,
the one thing is when something gets hurt,
it does not heal like it used to.
You should try to do hyperbaric chamber.
I do.
Wow.
I mean,
that heals,
that helps you heal.
That helps you heal.
That in red light,
we got a red light bed at the house.
You do?
That's good.
Yeah.
It's pretty great.
You do heat and ice?
I do.
Yeah,
and I'm sure it all helps,
but I'm telling you,
when I hurt something,
I'm 46,
Kenny.
Yeah.
It doesn't,
it doesn't fix.
Yeah.
It takes a lot longer to,
to, if you're performing and you're hurt, because you were hurt, didn't you like, were you on crutches or something?
Like, didn't you hurt?
Oh, no, I've been hurt a couple of times.
But you had to perform, like you performed and didn't say anything.
I feel like that was something a few years ago.
No, well, what happened?
The first time I was actually really hurt was in South Carolina.
The first time I played South Carolina's football stadium.
And I had a lift that brought me up on stage.
You know, I thought it was really cool.
And looking back, it was kind of cheesy.
But I had this lift that.
brought me up in the middle of the stadium in the front of house, you know, where the front
of house mixes. Well, my foot, you know, when it brings you up like that, these two still
plates right here become flush and you're just kind of, that becomes your small stage. Well,
my foot got a little over to the left without me realizing it. And those two things went like that.
Oh, your foot was in the middle of them. Oh, my foot was in the middle of it. That was first song.
So I was like, it'd hurt. And so I did the whole. I did the whole.
whole show like that with a broken foot. Well, you get on the mic that you can just talk to your guys
and go like, hey, I'm injured. Yeah, yeah. And you'll tell them so they can. Yeah, yeah. But nobody knew it,
you know, at the beginning because I was, I had a lot of the crew guys under that section. And,
you know, this first song, I'm sitting there pounding for, you know, with a beat of the song like
that. Well, that time, I was over on my knees and I was hitting it with my hand like that,
say and raise it down so I can get my foot out.
But they didn't know.
They just kept hearing that.
They're like, Kenny's gym.
He slats him too.
He's footing in.
So finally it got around and said lower it down a little bit.
So that's how I got my foot out of there.
It's crazy.
What ended up happening?
And that was like right in front of people that have spent all day in the parking lot,
parting and getting ready for that moment.
And my foot's caught between these two stools parts of the stage.
What happened to your foot?
I went to the hospital.
that's the night that I learned how great
morphine is.
Yeah, it hurt that bad, huh?
It hurt pretty bad.
You ever been so sick?
They had to cut my boot off.
They had to cut my jeans off.
They did?
Oh, was it full of blood?
It wasn't full of blood, but it was so swollen.
It was so, I mean, it was crazy.
So that's the first time I played injured.
You know?
And then, but I've played sick.
What about fighting through sickness
where you have to, like, walk off stage?
I mean, so, so.
sick. I was in
24
I was sick at Sphere this year. I was so sick
when we played the Philadelphia Eagles
football stadium in 2024 that I
had no business going on stage.
What was wrong? Symptoms. Oh, I had
the flu and it was just awful.
And I had no business being up there, but I went up there.
And you did it all? And we did it all.
Megan came on stage because
she would come up and by that time of the tour, she would come up and sing all the
pretty girls with me and sometimes we do tractor or whatever it was.
And she came up and she looked at me and she couldn't believe how white I was.
She goes, are you okay?
You know, because I just, so I owe Philadelphia one next summer.
And you know, they probably thought it was one of the greatest shows they've ever seen because
they didn't know.
I think they knew because I, you know, when I opened my mouth, nothing came out.
They threw batteries at you like they're doing sports games like Santa.
No.
They're throwing batteries.
Well, but in that case, do you address it at all or did you just?
Yeah, I did.
I just told him. I said, look, I'm insanely sick. I said, this is going to be, help me, help me tonight. And they did. It was great. But they got about 20% of what I normally give them. So next summer, Philadelphia, we're coming for you.
Do you think if you took me out on a boat, I'd have a good time? I think that you'd be surprised at how good of a time you would have. But see, you think it's like when you say beach, I go to the beach, but it's more of an island community that changed my life than just going to setting on a beach.
Food service is too slow. You think?
Island time sucks.
Yeah, but it's like Vegas.
You got to know the right people.
Maybe so, but I've been to some islands and I like my things on time every time.
I'm regimen.
I have the – it's just not that.
I guarantee you, if we took you guys on a boat and did the Bobby Bone show from the boat, you would have a blast.
I wouldn't.
If we're doing a show, I wouldn't because I have to run the whole thing.
It's like you talking about in the studio.
Oh, okay.
You're right.
I mean, we did a cruise this year.
We did the show from the boat.
Did you hate it?
My wife was nine months pregnant, so I stayed for a day, two days.
We still did the show.
And I performed.
What?
We didn't do, I didn't do the show from the boat.
Eddie and I did two shows on the boat.
We played on the boat.
Oh, you'd already left by then?
Yeah, I didn't do the show.
Oh, well, I'm sorry.
Sorry, I miss remember that.
Can we just get back?
You've just invited us.
I never went to the sphere.
Would you get bored?
Yeah.
I'd find a way to say no.
I find a way.
We've been through this.
We've talked privately.
Yeah, like, okay.
Yeah, Kenny's like, seriously, you should come.
And I'm like, I never say yes because I don't want to lie.
And I'm like, I don't know, I don't know.
And then I never end up going.
But that was one you would really want to do.
That one would be awesome.
But here's why I don't like about Vegas when I go.
I get dehydrated.
Yeah, and I don't participate with a lot of stuff.
So it was like I was either working out or doing shows.
So I don't, you know, do all the Vegas traps that a lot of people go into.
I bet you when you do Vegas, though, it almost feels like a home show because there's so many people there you have to talk to before every show.
Yes, but yes and no.
Because that's why I wouldn't want to come to that because I'd want to come see you and be like, I'm here, give you a hug.
Yeah.
But then there's 80 other people doing that, and I just don't want to get in the way.
I appreciate that.
Yeah, right.
I really do.
So those shows have to be like that.
There's somebody at every show probably that wants to come and happy time.
But yes, but yes and no.
I mean, we decide now.
thank God we're the place in our life where we decide what what that pre-show thing is going to look
like you know especially there where you're doing a lot of shows in one city now when we go on
the road you know next summer obviously we're every stop we're going to we're going to say
hello and thank everybody that's helped us in the in the radio world we do that that's part of our
that's part of what we do but if we do doubles like in a city we'll do it the first night not the
second but if you're in Vegas like football coaches are flying into town to go and actually
actors. And you've got to go and be a bit of a performer before you were a performing.
Last year at Sphere, at the same night, I had the Minnesota Vikings head football coach.
I had Andy Reed and Sean Payton all at the same show, all backstage in the little area.
But now you have to go be life of the party because they came all the way to see you.
Came all the way to see you. But it's quick. Hello, how you doing?
Andy bought a Super Bowl ring. We had a picture with it.
Well, if I came, it wouldn't be quick. I'd demand an hour.
and I demand we just sit around.
You'd get an hour, but you'd only get a few minutes with me.
Yeah. And you know what? I know. The show
really, really is amazing because all my friends go and they're just like,
it's the greatest thing. I've never even been to the sphere.
You should go see a show there at some point.
Have you seen a show that's not yours there?
I've seen too. I saw Dead & Company and I saw The Eagles.
Because we were in rehearsals the first year we played there.
We were in rehearsals in Vegas.
right when
dead and company was getting done
so we went over there to see them
and we were moving into the sphere
two days later so we were kind of just going
to scope it out to see what it was like
and I couldn't believe it
I went oh my God we got to come in here and do this
like I hope we're prepared
I was so nervous you know
but it was one of the highlights
of my touring life it was great
because you're known as the guy with the water
and the beach do you ever just like want to wear a suit
and go eat dinner
I wore a suit a couple of times.
It's just like for fun, because I...
So...
Well, yeah.
I mean, I like to get dressed up like everybody else.
Yeah, we just think if you want on like flashy and cutoffs and...
You really think that's like me the whole time?
Do...
You know, I went and I got to spend some time with...
Next time I come in here, I'm going to wear a suit.
Don't wear a suit.
Don't wear a suit. Don't wear a suit.
I'm wearing a suit.
I got to meet Jimmy Buffett and spent some time with him.
And I was amazed that he was wearing khakis and a button up and we were just hanging out.
Yeah.
And he wasn't.
That was probably really dressed for him.
He said he enjoyed wearing normal clothes because everywhere he goes, people expect him to be in like beach stuff.
And I wanted that that was how you felt at all.
Well, people when I meet them who have never met me for the first time, you know, they never met me.
And I meet them, they go, where's the hat?
I go, well, it's in a bus.
You know, that's where I, that's where I wear the hat.
I don't wear the hat to dinner.
I don't wear the hat.
I just can'ty.
You know, it's really weird.
There's a certain persona that I know that I have up there.
But I leave that person up there.
And when I'm away from it, I'm really not that person that much.
The final thing I'm going to ask you.
And by the way, Silver Sands Marina, it is out today.
Fun fact, the title track, one of the writers of Silver Sands Marina, Johnny Cawson,
was my waiter for a long, long, long time.
Was your what?
My waiter.
My wife and I went to the same restaurant forever, and he was our guy.
And he's one of the rest of the rest of a long time.
writers on Silver Sandmarie. He's written so many hits now. Wow, that's great. And he never,
ever was like, I'm an artist, I'm a writer. And he was just so nice. And when he was, again,
we had developed a relationship with him because every week we would go. And he was like,
hey, I'm leaving. I said, where are you going? He goes, well, I never wanted to bother you with it,
because I'm sure a lot of people do, but I'm a songwriter, I'm an artist, and I just got a
publishing deal. Oh, that's fantastic. And I said, that's super great. And then he's written
like multiple number ones now. It's, it's crazy to see.
him like kill it and then I saw it that he was one of the writers of that song. I loved Silver Sands
Marina the first time I heard it because you know we're all we all live in a world now
with social media and stuff that is that's there's a lot of fake intimacy right but Silver Sands
Marina is about a real moment of human connection and I just fell in love that's why I was so
attracted to it you know and I went up there to New Hampshire where the Marina is and we
shot a, we shot a pretty cool video there and did a photo shoot there. And I realized that all of us
have, you know, I didn't grow up in New Hampshire, but I had my own version of Silver Sands
Marina in my life where I felt something with someone or had a human connection like that.
And those are the kind of songs that I look for. Congratulations on the record. I'm going to
have you do a list before you leave and it has nothing to do with music. You cannot include music.
There's no, there's no touring. There's no touring. The people.
Five things Kenny Chesney really loves.
Number one.
Sports.
Italian food.
Well, let me go back.
Sports.
Italy.
I love going home on Thanksgiving to eat anything that I want to eat because I'm constantly on a diet.
I love red wine.
but I haven't had it in a long time.
Do you have a really expensive bottle at your house?
Oh yeah.
I mean, I've got expensive bottles.
I've got, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, and I love animals.
Dogs specifically.
I'm allergic to cats.
Top five animals.
Top five animals.
Number one.
Well, everything that's in goldfish.
You know?
Kenny, we have this bit.
I want to keep the bit going where I always go,
hey, I'm going to come to something.
and you go, you need to come and I never do. That's a funny bit
to me. That's okay. We'll go to lunch one. It's all good.
Hey, let's do it soon. Why not?
That's easy. Let's get together. Me and you. Let's get together sometime.
I love them. You guys love them. You got a new record out today. It is Kenny Chesney.
You guys go string the crap out of silver, Sands Marina. And that's it. Congratulations.
Thanks, guys. Records great. There is. Kenny Chesney, everybody.
Appreciate it.
The Bobby Bones show.
And that'll be it for this week's best bit. I am so happy to relaunch this. Bring it back.
whatever you want to call it because I like we said earlier I worked on it every week as it was
with Morgan and so very happy to bring it back I want to thank all the listeners who called in
who supported who shot me a DM who commented on the show's social posts whatever it might be

and trusting me to do this each week and talk to listeners and bring back the best bits
and recycle the best stuff from the week from the show.
And it's just really cool.
And I'm very, very grateful and I'm very thankful to everybody and anybody who supported me to get here.
And for the opportunity.
So thanks again.

we're outside asking, why?
They don't want a whole bunch of little Ella bakers,
Michael Maxes and Martin Luther King running around.
