Hey, everybody, welcome to this episode where we're going to pick the CMA award winners,
and we're going to pick our favorites instead of guessing.
So if you were giving, yeah, yeah, it makes it a little more.
So I get all the power to pick the winner.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is cool.
Yeah, yeah.
Because we could always kind of do the loser safe way and go, well, I think this person will win.
Sure.
But we have to pick the person we want to see.
Can you bet on this?
Like, is there a sports book?
Is everything betting to you?
Yes, dude.
Is literally everything betting to you?
At this point of my life?
Yes, it is.
Because that would be cool to bet on this.
Like, you know how people go to certain sports experts for like bet advice?
They come to this to bet on the CMA awards.
The problem is we're not giving who probably will win advice.
Because I think I can pick who probably will much better than I'll do if I'm picking who I'd like to see when.
Also, it's these type shows that get me in trouble.
if I'm just going full opinion
because you're being honest
if let's say for example
and there's entertainer of the year
single of the year
vocal group of the year
but I'll do a category
musician of the year for example
right and so I don't know a lot of these people
this is not a category we talk about
but if I were like
the guitar player Tom
Bukovac
don't know Tom
right and if I were said you know
I think based on the statistics
and I think Tom's probably going to win.
And then, let's say,
Rob McNally, who plays guitar, comes up.
I heard you said that Tom was.
Yeah, but I was using data.
You know who Rob McNally is?
He played in our region.
He played on ours, yeah.
Yeah.
Like, what's so cool about this musician of the year award,
almost every year there's one musician
that played on one of our albums.
Not only that, like, our friend Charlie Warsham is up as well.
That's that real.
But if I do the cop-out way of going,
here's who I think, and then one of them come up to me.
I'm like, no, sorry, I was just using some data.
If I go, here's who I'd like to see when, I can't get out of that.
And that's what we're going to do.
Yeah.
Okay, perfect.
Of course.
So just a little background here.
It's the 60th CMA Awards.
Ah, yes.
And there are two major award shows.
There's the CMAs that happen in November.
There's the ACMs that happened a bit more in the spring, late spring, summer.
The difference is, well, they're different letters.
Yeah, different organizations.
Yeah, they're different letters.
CMA, one's ACM.
They take place in D.
different places? Well, sometimes. They've had the ACMs in here before. Where was the last one?
Vegas and Dallas for the, they did Vegas, but they've had it in Nashville. But the ACMs were
started in California. It's a little younger. Oh, I didn't know that. And CMAs are very Nashville.
It's a little older, a little more prestigious. So early on did Dwight Yocom win all the awards?
Him and Buck Owens is every award. It was like, that's how it started. It's all of them. And also what
happens a bit is the ACMs, that's not this one, this is the CMAs, the ACMs are known to be a bit more
progressive and a little younger. So you would see people like in the past, like Thomas Rett won
entertainer the year a few years ago. Yeah. I know there were a couple other examples of that,
but I don't have them right now. Didn't do that research. But they're generally known to be a little
more progressive.
Got it.
Where the CMA's longstanding.
Traditional.
Very much so.
Probably slightly more value to artists just because they've been around a lot longer.
But both are massive, but those are the two big ones.
Different trophies too.
Yeah, they're different organizations.
Yeah, one of them's glass and the other one is metal.
Yeah, so the CMA, we actually have them both.
You do?
I have them here in the studio.
Oh, that'd be cool props.
Hey, Morgan, would you?
Would you grab me a CMA and an ACM?
Dude, have you noticed how cool the ACM trophies are?
At first I thought it was like, okay, cool, it's just a metal thing that sticks up.
It's a cowboy hat on top.
It's a cowboy hat.
Oh, you didn't know?
No.
Oh, my bad.
I didn't mean to, like, yuck your yums there.
It's okay.
I just didn't realize.
I yucked your yams because that's bad.
I should have just let you enjoy that.
I apologize, yes.
Because I always look at it straight on, right?
And if you look at it straight on, it's just like a standing thing, almost like an Emmy, but not hold anything.
I'm about to show.
Yes.
And then you look on top of it, it's a freaking cowboy hat.
Yeah.
That's cool.
So there's also...
Here they come.
Thank you.
There's also the CMT Awards.
Right.
There's also, there's all these awards.
But the two biggest ones are the ACMs and the CMAs, and we're going to do the CMAs.
So this is one of my CMAs.
2019.
Cool.
Same every year, same shape.
This is that, for those that are watching.
It kind of looks like a rocket ship.
A glass rocket.
You don't think like that rocket?
Yeah.
You ever have hemorrhoids?
No.
Okay.
So it's what a hemorrhoids looks like?
No.
But I had to put these white rockets up my butt.
What the?
Dude, I thought a hemorrhoid is around.
You have to get the thing in your butt.
Oh, my gosh.
So it's like a medicine.
It's shaped like this.
Yeah, it's medicine.
It's hard at first, but it turns into goo.
And so it looks kind of like this, but it's fully white.
And it has a tip and you shove it up your butt.
And then it helps your.
but.
I did not know that.
It's about that size, too.
It's a little smaller than this.
Do you think that's where they got the inspiration of making that trophy?
I don't think so.
Okay.
Yeah.
But this is the CMA and it is a glass and it is extremely classy and amazing.
And the award show we're not talking about, but this is an ACM.
Okay, look at it straight on.
Straight on.
It just looks like a thing, you know, like a statue standing up.
And then here's the, it's a freaking cowboy hat.
Mike, did you know the cowboy hat thing?
I did.
Yeah.
I didn't mean, again, I didn't mean to like P and Eddie Cheerios, because when he was freaking out, I thought that was just something you knew we all knew.
No, I had no idea.
We also did that special where we did a bunch of research on it.
So I kind of knew the history of the trophy.
There you go.
What's the history of that trophy?
So they wanted to have something to commemorate country music, so they made a trophy and they gave it to people.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
That's it.
That does it.
Can cowboy hat country.
There you go.
All right.
So for those that are watching this on Netflix, you saw the trophy.
That's cool.
listening to the podcast, you didn't, but you can always go to Netflix and watch.
Okay.
So, back to the CMAs, Nashville-based organization.
It is the slightly more prestigious, but a little stuffier where the ACMs are still extremely
prestigious, a little more progressive.
You're not talking about like the actual award show.
I am both.
Okay.
I'm talking about all of it together.
Because the award shows like you got to dress.
The CMA is very formal.
And at the ACMs, I wore a bow tie no shirt.
pair of cutoffs.
That's what that's what's up.
Okay, so there we are.
We're the CMAs.
It's going to be the 60th one.
And for us, we don't get to vote just because we have jobs in media.
You have to be a CMA member.
So there's some sort of process.
And if you have a job that they value enough to actually have a vote, you pay your dues.
Do you still pay your dues?
I don't, but somebody pays them for me.
Somebody pays them for me too.
Yeah.
It's pretty cool.
Who pays?
I think the company, somebody in the company is.
I bet they don't even know where they just.
stop. Then let's not remind them. They don't even buy us water anymore. Did you know what's funny about
the membership? You're right. The membership used to come with a card. Do you have your membership
card? No. It's metal. I carry out my trophy. That's even better. Yeah. Dude, the metal card used to
go off on every metal detector I would go through and I had to just get rid of it because it was in my wallet
just to show people like, look, I'm a CMA member. But it's an actual metal card. The metal card set it off
because my black card, my black card American Express, unlimited, you know, it's metal. And it doesn't
set anything on.
What a flex.
You got one of those?
Shut up.
Okay.
So we're going to go through the categories and we're going to pick who we think, who we'd like to see when, who deserves to win.
Based on whatever, right?
It doesn't matter.
Yeah, I like this.
Okay.
Let's go to the big one first.
And we can argue with each other.
I don't want to argue with you.
Oh, do you want me to?
No, I'm just saying if I make a point you don't think is right, please say so.
Okay.
Yeah.
Entertainer of the Year.
Oh, I should say this too.
Whenever this is voted for, it's multiple rounds.
So first, we get an email that says, log into this, here's the number, and here is your password, whatever.
So we log into the portal, the password.
And then they basically just ask you, who do you like for Entertainer of the Year?
And you can write it in.
And there are no options.
Yep.
So it's always Englebird Humperdink, me.
Like it's who I'm writing in.
Bob Marley.
The Wiggles.
Yes.
So then.
Everybody that's a member has written in all these people.
And that second email comes and you log in.
And it's basically the top 15 that got submitted.
From the top 15, they allow you to pick four, maybe five, but whatever it is, four or five.
And then that's how this ballot happens that you see on television.
Yes.
It's not a little bored because some people think, oh, it's four or five people making all the decisions.
No, it's literally 700 to 1,000 people in this world, this space.
You don't even have to live in Nashville.
Like there are people with music jobs that don't live here that vote.
People work in radio.
People.
So it's not even, well, the classic Nashville system, people from all over the country, they submit, they vote down to four or five.
Those four or five get voted on as to one, and that one is announced on television.
The question is, though, who counts the votes?
So there is a company that we just trust.
Okay.
It's like a law firm because I used to present on this show before I got banned from it.
And they would
That's another story
It's a whole other story
They wouldn't even give me the card
Five minutes before I went up
Oh wow
Because what I could do is I could
You can push it and kind of open it
Because it's just taped
And see who's in there
And you can bet on it
Everything's betting with you
But you could spoil it
Yeah
And contractually it has to be a secret
Until it's read on on television
And they do a great job
Of making sure nobody knows
So it is always a law firm or company that does the tabulating.
And then they sit back there.
It's two people basically acting like security, but they also work for the firm.
And they sit there and they guard it all.
Dang.
And you don't, they hand you the card.
For me, they would hand me the card a couple minutes before I would go on.
But they make sure you don't look in it.
So they're watching you.
Yeah, and you can't leave with it.
Wow.
So do you remember of what you presented?
I've presented like seven times.
Okay.
I can give you my most memorable couple.
Okay.
presented with Don Felder.
No, not Don Felder, from the Eagles.
Joe.
Joe Cocker.
Joe Walsh.
Yeah, present him with Joe Walsh.
Dude, that was awesome.
He's crazy.
He's crazy.
He's crazy.
You're rock and roll guy, man.
I love that.
And I knew going out there, because they put it all on a prompter.
I knew it wasn't going to go that way.
You knew that he wasn't going to stick to the prompter?
I'm not sure he knew there was a prompter.
Because we were talking before.
he went out and I'm like, this is Joe Walsh. That's crazy.
My Maserati
Deeds the money than my...
And I'm like, I love the Eagles.
He has a very distinct voice.
And I thought it super cool. And I knew Arkansas
Keith would think it was cool. That I was
one of the Eagles. Of course.
So we go out.
It's all on the prompter. And
he's supposed to start. We walk out
and he just stares.
And doesn't start. And he's supposed to.
And he's supposed to start. There you go.
And so... What do they do? Do they give you a... Or is it a red
light, what is it? So what happens is on those shows, because they never want you to start early
that you know where the prompter is, and they say you can start talking right when we turn the words
on. So it's not as if the words are there and then a red light comes on. There are no words. There's
a massive prompter. And they try to make it as idiot proof as possible for all of us that are
standing up there because we're getting so many directions, where to go, when to go, how much time
you have. As soon as the words come on, that's when you start.
Makes it so easy.
Okay.
So we're up there and the words come on.
And says Joe.
Me first.
Says Joe.
And he doesn't say anything.
And this is five seconds total, maybe three, but it feels like a year.
Oh, I bet on TV.
Because I'm going, should I jump in in my head?
And so I do.
And I'm like, hey, we're here.
Joe Walsh, everybody.
Clap, clap, clap, clap.
Oh, yeah.
Then he reads.
And then he just keeps going.
there's saying stuff that's not on there
I love that
and so I'm getting on my feed
and so we just did
it came off much better than it felt
it only felt weird
because we weren't doing what we were told
so yeah that's probably
my favorite
that's cool one year Sharna and I
when I was on Dancing with the Stars
we flew right back in just to do this
and flew back out
and that was an exhausting one
but it was cool to bring her
because she knows nothing about country music
and then we presented together
like two weeks before the show was
over. Wow, it's amazing.
Yeah. So that's like right in the middle of it all.
Yeah, I was dead.
Because on ABC was it kind of like a press promotion or something? Is that how that stuff works?
It's exactly what it was. Okay.
ABC and this was on ABC at the time. Is the show still on ABC? Yeah. It is. So yeah, those are
probably my two favorites. And I remember coming back and I was dead tired. And so I'm sitting there
and Sharna is sitting next to me and we're in the very front row because if you're going to
present they put you up close to your walk is
much easier.
Quick on the stage.
And so
you could tell
who like all of our
contemporaries are here in country music
that watch dancing with the stars
because during the break
they would all come up and be like
they wanted me to Sharna.
This is crazy.
You just been to Sharna?
And you?
Yeah, yeah.
It'd be like the people you wouldn't expect either.
Yeah.
So those are probably my favorite too.
I think I've done it six or seven times
and then I was banned.
And that's a different story.
That's a different story.
Okay, so let's go through some awards here.
Let's start with the big one.
By the way, the awards air on Wednesday, November 18th.
Entertainer of the Year, this is the biggest award.
This is the one, there really is nothing to define what it means is what's a bit odd, but also fun about entertainer of the year.
So it just means, I don't know, who's the biggest?
And that can mean whatever you want it to do.
It's like overall, right?
Overall, the biggest.
It can mean biggest songs, biggest tour, it can mean television.
They don't put any sort of parameters on it.
Yeah.
Which doesn't help, but also makes it a little unpredictable.
So it can mean whatever you want.
The five people nominated are Luke Combs, Cody Johnson.
Do you want me to sing like they do in the award show?
Oh, just a look, okay.
Erkane.
Yeah, yeah.
The nominees are Luke Combs.
I don't don't you go me
You just did Hurricane
Now you're doing that
Well that's the newest single
What are the words
What are the words of that one
Just do hurricane
Hey don't get along you know
Cody Johnson
Ride
Okay
See
That's a bad idea
Ella Langley
He's from Texas
I can tell by the way
Chris Stapleton
It was a lonesome
Cowboy.
It's from the Toy Story.
Oh.
Yeah, I can do Tennessee Whiskey, too.
I guess that'd be the bigger one.
I don't know Lonesome Cowboy.
Oh, he does that one.
I started Toy Story 5.
So, our five-month-old,
does not really get screen time.
She's only able to be able to watch the Arkansas game.
She loved that.
Yeah, she was like, dang, that's crazy.
Like, I'm just watching her, watch the screen.
All the colors.
But I started Toy Story 5 with her to see if she would watch it when Caitlin wasn't there.
and she's not that interested in watching for anything more than a few minutes,
but we've watched 10 minutes of Toy Story 5 in two different trips.
Okay, what did you think?
I've only seen 10 minutes of it.
Yeah, 10 minutes in.
Well, so at the very beginning, all the buzz light ears, they're like,
wow, they all come awake and there's all them.
They've been put on that island.
Yeah.
Yeah.
This is not a spoiler.
I've only seen 10 minutes in the movie.
That's the very beginning.
And then they make that boat, whatever, and they get out of there.
It's a really great first 10 minutes.
Yeah.
So I did that, and then there's a little girl with the toy,
and then she wants the neighbor kids to come play, the twins,
and they have their, she goes to look, and they have their iPads.
I guess she doesn't go look, one of the toys does.
Jesse?
Yeah.
Look, and she goes, what, all they're doing is sitting on their screens.
The tablets.
Yeah, yeah.
That's all I am.
Don't ruin the rest for me.
All right.
I've seen 10 minutes.
You're going to love it.
And Laney Wilson.
So those are your five.
It is Luke Combs, Cody Johnson,
Ella Langley, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson.
Eddie, if you're the dictator of the CMAs,
who are you giving it to and why?
And the winner for entertainer of the year is,
Ella Langley.
Because I'm an Ella fella.
I love Ella Langley.
I think she's awesome.
I think the songs are great.
I think she's cool.
She is who she is.
I like that she's true to herself.
And dude, she's killing it, man.
She's killing it right now.
Like, country music is her world right now.
I can agree that she is at a place I've only ever seen a few artists to be.
Yeah.
Counterpoint.
Please.
If you want to argue with me, argue with me.
say it's an argument. She's massive. No doubt. And that song has done things that we, I've
not seen a song do, but it's really one song based. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, there's the other one
too, the hurt so bad. Hurt so bad. I want to be her so bad. I'm familiar with the song.
But I'm saying for her, she absolutely may win it because I've not seen anything like this
with that song. It's just so based on really that song that's launched everything else that I,
I'm not going to pick her because it is so one song related.
I agree with that.
I agree with that.
And two,
like a close second would be Laney because Laney to me.
We're not doing seconds.
No, that's copouts.
That's if Lany comes up to you and is like,
Eddie, why didn't you pick me?
You're like, well, I picked you for second.
We're not doing that.
No, what I'm going to tell her is I was about to say,
but Bobby cut me off.
Yes.
Well, for second.
For second place.
Yeah.
Yeah, dude.
I think Ella's just killing it.
So let's give it to her.
It's her year.
It's her year.
She is the entertainer of the year.
Okay.
Hang tight.
I'm Brett Coleman.
And I'm Trevor Sikkimah.

Is there an epidemic against literature? More specifically, black literature. Our books are being
banned, scanned by AI, and destroyed. I'm Jack Quees-Pice Thomas, and on this season of the Black-Lit
podcast. We're outside asking some of the custodians of our stories, teachers, and our modern
day writers. Why? They don't want a whole bunch of little elevators. Michael Maxes and Martin Luther
Kings running around. They want to build children who have no empathy. That's really the ultimate
goal. We want books that don't make white kids feel bad. So is the war on literacy and information
or our ability to connect? We want people to know how sexy reading is and how fun they could be
and not always associated with education.
It could be an escape.
It could be entertainment.
And that is the beauty of reading.
It can be all of those things.
And considering this is Black Reading Month,
the only real question is,
what are you reading next?
Listen to Black Lit from the Black Effect Podcast Network
on our iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
And we're back on the Bobbycast.
My winner for Entertainer of the Year?
Come on.
Is Ella.
Luke Combs.
Oh.
And here's why.
It's a combination of things.
One, it's been multiple massive number one songs.
None are as big as Ella Langley, though.
I'll give you that. None are.
There hasn't been a song as big as that since I've lived in Nashville.
Yeah.
It's the biggest country song that I have experienced.
Luke Combs has had a bunch of number ones.
He's also doing football stadiums.
Yes.
There's only right now four artists, five artists that can do football stadiums.
Kenny?
Yep.
Luke.
Combs.
Combs?
Zach Bryant.
Garth.
Yep.
You're missing the easiest one.
It's funny that it's 15th.
Morgan Wall.
I was a special way.
Okay.
Yeah.
So Luke Holmes was one of those five.
Yeah.
He's doing massive football stadiums.
He's had multiple number one songs.
I pick Luke Holmes.
Now, this doesn't count, but Morgan Wallin didn't make the list because Morgan and the award shows don't have a great relationship.
Right.
And they both have kind of done it to each other.
But can we both agree that if Morgan was on the list, he'd win.
Yeah.
I mean, we'd both easily say Morgan Wallet should be entertainer of the year.
Yes.
He's not on the list.
So back to what you were just saying about the relationship between Morgan Wall and the,
awards system, all that. So when you look at that first level of nominations that we're talking
about where you fill in the blank, name whatever, are people putting in just what your opinion,
do you think people are putting in Morgan Wallen's name on there? And then the organization is just
no. Taking it out? I don't. I think the organization is doing it exactly as is. So you think people?
I don't think the organization is the bad guy. Okay. I think it's the people that are voting
understand he ain't coming.
So why waste that space and put his name there?
Kind of.
That would be me speculating because I think the organization does a great job of being
on the up and up.
So my belief would be, especially because a massive part of this is Nashville, a massive part's
Nashville, not all, like I said, it's all over the country, that there are labels and management
companies and they know Morgan's not going to be there.
And they're voting for their own people anyway.
and I, they don't put them in.
Because I don't remember in the process,
because I voted through all the processes to this point,
but I don't remember if his name was ever on there.
I don't think it was.
I bet it was on the 15, but maybe not.
You think it's the very first 15?
Maybe, maybe not.
Yeah.
Okay, so you have Ella.
I have Luke Combs.
A single of the year.
Now single of the year is how the song sounds sonically,
So it's the singer.
Okay.
It's the producer.
It's that.
Okay.
So you don't, it's not the writer.
It's not a songwriter award.
Right.
And so the producer is the person that takes the whole song, has the vision for the whole song and makes it all happen.
Yeah.
Mike, the exact definition, because this is often what people get confused about, as do I.
And I'm going to assume my answer is right until Mike corrects me here.
Single of the year is the artist and like the producer.
and it really is how it sounds.
What is the official definition?
The overall excellence of a specific single recorded track
jointly to the artist, producer, and mix engineer.
Got it.
Okay, so you're right, the sound of it.
So, we have Be Her, Ella Langley.
Yeah.
Choos in Texas, Ella Langley.
Oh.
I knew it, I knew you, Taylor Swift.
Somewhere over Laredo, Lainey Wilson,
and the fall, Cody Johnson.
Why are you looking at me like that?
I mean, this one's easy, right?
And the winner.
of single of the year is choosing Texas Ella Langley.
It has to be.
It has to be.
If it isn't...
We burn it down.
Yes, burn the whole thing.
No, we burn our own places down.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Just to show, yeah.
We don't burn them down.
We burn our houses down.
No, ours, because we won't get in trouble for that.
Yeah, but then they still get the message.
Yeah.
No one gets in trouble.
Album of the year.
This is tough.
It's tough because who listens to albums?
No one.
And that's not cool to say.
and you listen to the album of your absolute favorite artist
but you don't really spend a lot of time with full albums
if they're not your favorite.
That is a good point.
Like if it's your band,
your artist that you love so much,
you take the time to buy that album,
listen to it from head to toe.
Who buys an album?
Stream, pap, all.
Do you not have an...
Stream the album.
Yeah. I have not bought an album in a long more time.
Drive down to the record store.
Yeah, you're right.
But if it's just like someone that you like to listen to on the radio,
Like, yeah, you're not listening to the whole album.
Yeah, and it may lead you to discovery of other songs.
Correct.
But when a new album comes out and it's not your favorite artist,
you don't chase it down and listen to it all.
So it's a little bit of an antiquated category.
And I don't even know how to judge it.
Because I can't tell you that, like honestly tell you
that I've listened to the whole albums of any of these artists.
I only have one, one of these.
Okay.
That you listen from top to bottom.
Yeah, but I love the artist.
Oh, okay.
And like the week that it came out.
I listened all the way through a couple times.
Number one, album of the year, nominees are Zach Topp,
Ain't In It From My Health.
Ella Langley, Dandelion, Casey Musgraves, Middle of Nowhere.
Parker McCollum, Parker McCollum.
Luke Combs, the way I am.
Wow.
You know what I'm going to go with here
because I just like the sound of all of his songs.
Like, it doesn't matter what song it is.
If I pick him, if I'm streaming him,
and I play a song, I automatically like it.
It's probably the tone of his voice, how he sings or what.
But I'm going to go Parker McCollum.
Parker McCollum.
It's also funny when someone does a self-titled album
after they already have a bunch of other albums
because mostly that's the first album somebody puts out.
Yeah, this is his what, third, fourth?
And with all of his Texas stuff, probably more.
13th.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's pretty funny.
But I don't know, man.
There's something about Parker that I just love playing Parker
in the background of while I'm doing anything.
I love it.
So you've given him album of the year?
So I'm going to give him album of the year because I'd probably like it if I was cooking
and I turned the whole album on.
You know who mine is, right?
Yes.
It is.
Casey Musgraves, middle of nowhere.
Album of the year, congratulations.
Come get your award and please ride in on your testicle disco balls.
Yes.
And she just rides them on in.
She just sitting on top.
He's hangs out.
I think Ella Langley wins.
You think so?
I think it's just too big to deny.
Yeah.
Unless everybody starts to feel like it's,
too big to deny. And there's the anti-vote that's not voting against her, Ella, but it's going,
well, she's probably going to get a ton of votes. What if the whole theory that you had on,
your argument on Entertainment of the Year comes in for Luke Combs because of all of those hits?
Well, I don't think that's going to happen with Luke because he's not a slam dunk. Because I think
even, maybe even at the ACMs, I get him confused too of what happened. I think Cody Johnson won
entertainer of the year. He did. And he thanked Luke Combs. And so I think all of those Luke Combs,
Cody Johnson, Ella Stapleton, and Laney.
They all have a reason to win.
And Laney won multiple years.
So I don't think there's something that should win an entertainer of the year.
Like easily.
You go, well, that should win.
Right.
Everyone has a good argument.
Where album of the year, like Dandelion should win.
Yeah.
Because of how well that music's done.
But I'm picking Casey Musgraves, Middle of Nowhere.
Cool.
And you're picking Parker McCollum, Parker McCollum.
Parker McCollum.
Parker McCollum.
Song of the Year.
Now this is a songwriter award.
Yes, this is cool.
So you could, in theory, have a song.
It went Song of the Year and you're the artist, but you don't get the award.
I'm almost positive that's true because if you didn't write it, because a lot of artists, let's say Kenny Chesney has a song called My Boats Leak and Oil.
That's great.
And he didn't write it.
And My Boats Leak and Oil win Song of the Year.
We wrote it.
Yeah.
We go up and we get the award.
Kenny may come up with us, but it's not his award.
Okay.
That's what I was going to ask.
Does he come up with us?
It's cool if he does, right?
Why not?
Can you come up?
Yeah, yeah.
It's ours.
Yeah, yeah.
You're just supporting us.
You cut it.
Good job, buddy.
Love it.
Appreciate that.
Can I get some free merch?
Let's come on up with us.
Cool.
So, yeah, this is a songwriter award?
This is a song of the year.
Michael, was that correct in that?
Oh, my God, thank God.
So when you do this, are you going to read all the songwriters involved?
I think they deserve that respect.
I agree.
That's why I say and watch the credits after every movie.
No, you don't.
I don't.
I don't have that much respect to get it.
You should, though, because what's cool is you get to-
Shut up.
Look, man, it's awesome to see whenever you watch it,
and you're just like, wow, look at all the different crews
from the different places they shot.
They shot some in South Carolina.
They shot that in Australia?
That's kind of cool.
That's my favorite part of it.
It's not your favorite part of it, and you're stupid.
Okay, all right, moving on.
But sometimes do I say if I think there's going to be something at the end,
like another scene?
Oh, the Easter egg.
And what's hilarious is, because I'm buckled up.
I'm ready.
I'm ready to catch that scene, and it ends.
and the next scene doesn't come on.
And there is no scene, the lights come up,
and I waste of 12 minutes watching to see if it was shot in South Carolina.
And then all the kids with a broom is waiting for you there.
Yeah, there's no extra scene.
There's no extra.
Song of the Year.
Be Here, artist Ella Langley,
written by Smith, Anquist, Michael Hardy, which is Hardy.
Yeah.
Ella Langley and Jordan Schmidt.
So she was one of the writers of her own song.
Dude, that's crazy.
I didn't know his name was Michael.
Michael Hardy?
Yeah.
Hardy?
Yeah.
Hardy?
I thought his name was just Hardy.
Hardy something.
Hardy Hardington?
Hardy Hardington.
Hardy Harding.
But is that, that's be her, right?
Yeah, be her.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's a little type of here.
Okay, so, wow, that's cool.
Beautiful things.
Megan Maroney.
Written by Jesse Alexander,
Jesse Joe Dillon,
Connie Harrington,
and Megan Maroney.
Cool.
Choose in Texas.
Ella Langley,
written by Luke Dick,
Ella Langley,
Miranda Lambert,
and Joy Beth Taylor,
dry spell,
Casey Musgraves,
written by Luke Laird,
Shane McAnley,
Casey Musgraves,
and Josh Osborne.
Heavy hitters.
And Gary,
written by Stephen
Wilson Jr.
Solo writer.
By himself.
I love that.
By himself, yeah.
Man, I might just give the award to Gary because he wrote it by himself.
It's only one trophy they have to give out.
That's right.
Save money on trophies.
Yeah, save money on trophies.
Yep.
Dude, I think I might do that.
I think Gary is such a great song.
I think it's awesome that Stephen Wilson Jr.
is like even nominated to be, I think, best new artist, too.
I think he might have been eliminated last year, too.
Yeah, I think it's so cool that as a songwriter, I'm going to give him
award for Gary. I think that's so awesome.
Yeah. Although I
think that, you know, choosing
Texas will probably win, but... Okay, we're not doing
this. I'm just saying. We're not doing this.
I'm going Gary. What's the rule we just had about
doing this crap? We don't have seconds.
We don't have sex? No, no, no, seconds.
Oh. Seconds. I was like, that's not... Can't be the
rule. You can't do that. No, no. We have an appointment.
Okay. So you're giving
the award. To Gary. To Gary.
To save on glass.
Okay.
I get it
One award
Time's a tough
Inflation
The Strait of Hormuz
I get it
Everything costs more
I'm gonna give it to
Megan Maroney beautiful things
Oh
Okay
That's just five riders
I'm a Moroni boner
That's not it
Whatever
There's not what they're called
There's LFL is
And Marroner boners
I mean that would make sense
For you for you
Yeah
Bones
I get it
I get it
Yeah
One two three four
Okay four riders
You're good there
It's four trophies.
Yeah, it's not bad.
Yeah, I'm a math.
I think Megan Maroney, to me, I'm going to say the best, but to me, I feel like she is the best
newer generation artist songwriter right now.
So I'm talking about people with success, people that have hits and they're also
killing it as an artist.
I think she's the best.
That doesn't mean that Ella Langley's not good and doesn't have a song bigger than Megan's,
but I think if I were drafting, like, artists that are writing their own songs for the rest of their life,
and Marona boner me up, because I think Megan Maroney is A-plus, A-plus.
Okay, so I'm giving it to Megan Maroney, and you're giving it to Steve Wilson Jr.
All right.
Female vocalist of the year, our nominees are Miranda Lambert, Ella Langley,
Megan Maroney, Casey Musgraves, and Laney Wilson.
Dang.
I want to say something here before you give your pick.
Go ahead.
this is not always true, but rarely does the person who is male or female vocalists also win entertainer of the year?
Oh, that's interesting.
So a lot of times it ends up being, I hate to say second best.
I know consolation prize.
But second, yeah.
Because in the category, what's weird about it is, it is vocalist of the year, but it's really not about who's the best singer.
See, that's what I thought a lot.
Like when I first, you know, watched the awards, I thought it was like, oh, best singer.
So Keith Irvin's going to win this, all of them, you know?
Or Chris Stapleton's going to win all of them, but it's not.
So can you win both?
Like, can you win?
You can win both.
Okay.
It rarely happens because people, when they vote, if they vote for one for one thing, this is a human nature part of it.
Yeah.
They don't vote them for the same thing up in entertainer of the year.
So it's almost like you're the captain of the JV team.
Yeah.
You won an award.
It's not the biggest.
but you're still that.
Are you going to follow that rule when you pick right now?
Are you just going to pick what you like?
Pick what you like.
I'm going to follow the rule.
Pick Stephen Wilson Jr.
Oh, that'd be cool.
So that'd be cool.
Well, this is one trophy anyway.
Man, this is a tough one.
Because?
Because of that.
I think because of what you said.
I think that I would give it to Ella Langley, but I mean,
she's entertainer of the year.
She's song of the year.
You can do that if you want.
But I feel like a.
This is the point where I'm going to give someone else an award.
You're right.
I'm going to give it to Megan Maroney.
Nice.
I'm going to give it to Megan Maroney, the female vocalist of the year.
I'm going to give it.
Oh, man.
You can't give it to Steve a Wilson, Jr.
I know.
I've wanted to.
So here's my problem.
I didn't pick Ella Langley for Entertainer of the Year.
Oh.
Because I pick Luke Cohn.
So now you're going to?
So I definitely could.
Yeah.
Yeah, you don't have to.
But I have a card.
This is my marroner bono.
card that if I carried everywhere with me that I go.
Your fan club.
Boner Marona.
No, marroner.
Moron or bono?
Whatever it is.
So stupid.
I'm going to Megan Moroni as well.
Wow.
If I'm picking for me.
Let's go.
Yeah.
So then hopefully she does win this one.
Yeah.
It could be Ella Langley sweep, though.
But yeah.
Do that be crazy?
I have that it has happened five times in history.
In the history.
In the 60 years?
For females.
Really?
Do you have who the five are?
Yeah.
1972, Loretta Lynn.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Like, you knew he was going to say that.
When he said 76.
Shut.
All right, in 1986.
Who do you think, Eddie?
Yeah.
86 would have been.
I'll guess too.
Okay.
86 would have been Riba.
I live in June.
Reba.
I knew it.
Shut.
All right, 2009.
09?
Oh, nine?
Miranda.
I'm going to go.
Oh, nine.
Man, Miranda, as to I would have guessed.
but just for the sake of this, I'm not going to guess Miranda.
09, no.
09, I'm going to go Miranda.
Taylor Swift.
Oh, she won both, yeah.
Wow, that's three.
That makes sense.
2023.
Oh, it just happened?
Yeah.
23.
That's got to be.
Oh, she's got to be Laney then.
Laney, Laney.
That was a big night for her.
And then 2025.
Laney.
Yep.
Wow.
We haven't given her an award.
We haven't given her an award yet, have we?
No, and I think a little bit of the reason is...
Because of that, everything he just said.
Is Lainty fatigue?
Not that people don't love her.
Yes.
But she's already won, so human nature goes, well, let's start to give it to somebody else.
Yeah.
Although I feel like growing up Garth was just collecting them like...
You couldn't deny that.
Cards.
You couldn't deny that.
Or Brooks and Dunn win a duo.
That too, yeah.
Or Old Dominion.
Winning what?
Band of the year, or was it a group of the year?
Did they win all them all the time?
Oh, yeah.
The Old Dominion was...
No one else could win.
for I don't know how many years, eight years, nine years?
I bet you it was eight.
You could be right.
I remember for a long period of time,
and I think they just lost it for the first time this past year.
Yeah, to maybe Red Clay Strays?
Yeah, yeah.
How many old dominions?
Seven years in a row.
Oh, wow.
Pretty strong.
You missed it, though.
All right?
You're off by one.
Sorry, dude.
It was eight for ACMs.
They won eight years in a row for ACMs?
Wow.
Okay.
Male vocalist of the year.
Luke Combs, Cody Johnson,
Chris Stapleton,
Zach Topp and Stephen Wilson, Jr.
Yeah, screw the whole idea
that it's not about singing.
I want to do it that it is about singing.
It is about their voice,
and I'm going to give it to Luke Combs
because his freaking voice is awesome.
That's not where I expected you to go.
I was going to Stapleton.
I did.
When you led with that,
I thought it was going to be Stapleton for you.
Stableton's got an amazing voice,
but the thing about Luke
is that he sounds like he's just not a singer.
His voice is raspy.
it's low, but he can control.
He's classically trained.
He can control that.
It's almost rock and roll-and-roll-ish style of voice, but control it perfectly.
So to me, he's got one of the greatest voices in country music.
You nail something that I think people see him and hear his songs and hear him sing and think,
man, that guy just wakes up in the morning and that's all natural.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, takes a shot of whiskey and hear, I'm saying.
He's a choir kid.
Yeah.
He's trained.
And he's such a great.
singer and then he's also just a really good singer.
Yes.
Which you think would be the same, but it's not.
It's not the same.
I'm going to go, man, the Stapleton is such the easy vote.
Mel vocalist of the year, I'm going to give it to Chris Stapleton.
I have to.
Nice.
Is it based on because he's a great singer too?
You know, he just has this thing.
He goes, ugh.
And you know, you hear him and you just think, a guy just wakes up.
Yes, it's exactly what you said.
He's kind of the same.
Yeah, he's a little more non-traditional all the way around.
Yeah.
Like, I'm surprised he doesn't blow stuff out.
Gosh, because there's so much power behind it.
Hang tight.
The Bobbycast will be right back.
I'm Britt Coleman.
And I'm Trevor Sikima.

Is there an epidemic against literature?
More specifically, black literature.
Our books are being banned, scanned by AI, and destroyed.
I'm Jaquist Peace Thomas, and on this season of the Blacklit podcast, we're outside asking some of the custodians of our stories, teachers, and our modern day writers.
Why?
They don't want a whole bunch of little elevators, Michael Maxes and Martin Luther King running around.
They want to build children who have no empathy.
That's really the ultimate goal.
books that don't make white kids feel bad.
So is the war on literacy and information or our ability to connect?
We want people to know how sexy reading is and how fun they could be and not always associated
with education.
It could be an escape.
It could be entertainment.
And that is the beauty of reading.
It can be all of those things.
And considering this is Black Reading Month, the only real question is, what are you reading next?
Listen to Black Lit from the Black Effect Podcast Network on our iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
And we're back on the Bobbycast.
Vocal group of the year?
Oh, yeah, let's go Old Dominion.
You don't even read them.
Lady A, Little Big Town, Midland, Old Dominion, or Red Clay Strays.
Man.
You get to pick.
I know I'm thinking.
I'll go first.
I'll go Little Big Town.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
I just love them.
Just because they're so nice.
I just love them.
And they're great people.
And they're good.
Yeah.
Oh, of course they're good.
Yeah, but I would like to see them win.
Yeah.
I just love them.
Vocal duo with the year.
Brooks and Dunn, Brothers Osborne, Dan and Shea,
Mascadine Bloodline, and Thelma and James.
You ready?
Three, two, one.
Together.
I'll count again since you didn't understand.
You ready?
Well, this would go.
You know it.
Well, I don't.
think you know what I'm going to do.
Yes, I do.
Brooks and done.
Let's give it to them.
Let's give it to them.
So you're going Brooks and Done.
Yes.
Did they win last year?
I feel like, because I feel like they won one of them recently.
And I text Ronnie and I was like, and he's like, I can't.
Like, we haven't put out a dang new song.
It doesn't matter, man.
Yeah, they won two years in a row.
Wow.
It doesn't matter.
To me, it's nostalgic to me because like, growing up, who was winning duo of the year?
I have more than anybody else.
Brooks and Dunn were.
Like, they were winning all of them back then.
Let's run it back.
Do it again.
Okay, I'm going Maddie and Tay.
Oh, interesting.
They're not nominated.
They're not even a group anymore.
I thought you brought them in there.
You know what?
Screw it.
Maddie and Tay.
Yeah.
I'll do Brooks and Dunn.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
I presented this category once and Brothers Osborne won.
You know, what was interesting about when they won.
I remember the first time they won, they came in the studio and they talked about how it changed their life.
like that night changed their life
like their career was never the same after that night
they were just getting paid more too
because they could say that when touring
it was one of their accolades that lifted their guarantee
that's my question so okay so you answered it
so because I'm like why does a CMA award
all of a sudden just launch you up
so
there isn't a real right answer to that question
because maybe it doesn't always
but to someone like brothers Osborne
who they have a couple hits
they have a ton of critic appeal and praise.
And they're known.
But again, their music
doesn't easily fit on what would be considered
traditional radio.
Sure.
And look, sometimes people will hate on me.
Look at radio.
I have nothing to do with the music
that's played in the radio.
I sometimes don't hear a single song
anywhere in my life in four days.
Work or at home.
And right now, it's a lot of rainbow connection
by Kermit the Frog.
Right, because you have a baby at home.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
He's got a banjo and he's singing on the rainbow.
Yeah, but for a band like that that was right on the threshold of they were building a massive fan base on their own touring.
They had a couple hits.
They had records that were critically acclaimed.
They now, whenever they're launching a tour and they're talking with promoters, or festivals.
Oh, yeah.
They get to go, a CMA award winner.
And so when they were making $200,000 to play a festival, that CMA award really lifts it to probably $250 in a slightly bigger slum.
And also being on television in those primetime spots makes people then go stream your music that didn't know you.
Oh, they won.
Let me see what they're about.
Maybe they like them.
So yes.
That is life-changing.
Wow.
Okay.
Why are there?
There are so many songs about rainbows.
Love that.
A new artist of the year.
Avrianna, Carter Faith, Emily Ann Roberts, Tucker Wetmore, and Stephen Wilson Jr.
Would you mind seeing if Stephen Wilson Jr. was nominated last year and 1973, all three of those, you're nominated?
How old is Stephen Wilson Jr.?
Our age, I think.
43, I think.
Okay, so he's younger than us.
That's R8.
Anything like 42 to 48?
Because we're not that old or that, yeah.
I think that's our age.
I think that's just so cool.
Oh, that's my age.
Yeah, so I'm a lot younger.
Dang, dude, he's older than you.
Okay.
That's so cool to me.
That like he's just still doing it at 47 years ago.
Okay, I'll rephrase how I said it.
That he's getting recognized.
Medium fair.
Okay, let me rephrase.
I don't have anything else.
I think for him, it is not the story because we have a really great Bobbycast
where I learned a lot about him, so I have an advantage in this conversation
because I spent time like learning and asking questions.
always been a musician but
kind of checked out for many years
he was a scientist like he was still playing music
but he dedicated a bunch of years
to a normal smart guy job
what did he uh
he invented like the bone like the toothbrush bone
yeah that's amazing
is that the one specifically
was it dentistics? I think it was dentistics sorry
that's amazing
yeah so it's fair to say
oh it's cool he's just now getting recognized
but he hasn't been grinding all those years
because he kind of went into the private sector
with a normal job for a long time.
And I understand that,
but it's so rare for someone of 47 years old
to go compete with all of these younger people
that, I mean, unless you started young
and then you finally got your break hole,
that's different to me, but.
Dennis Six. Yeah, Dennis Six.
And he was nominated last year.
It was.
And was he nominated in 19703 by any chance?
In 1973, yeah.
Dang, so he was nominated but didn't win last year?
Yeah, Zach, Top One.
Stephen Wilson Jr. does not have what you would call it hit, though.
Gary's...
But to be fair...
Gary's known, but not a hit.
To be fair, except for Tucker Wetmore, none of them do.
Got you.
So again, it's Avery Anna, Carter Faith, Emily Ann Roberts, Tucker Wetmore, who has a couple number ones now in Stephen Wilson, Jr.
I want to give it to...
I think Carter Faith is so awesome.
but because Stephen Wilson Jr. is 47 years old
and I think it's such a cool story
and I think that he deserves it
to finally be the new artist of the year.
Yeah, I'll go Stephen Wilson Jr.
He's the Rodney Dangerfield of country music.
There gets no respect.
No, he's old when he gets started.
Gets no respect around here.
I think Rodney Dangerfield was older
when he finally...
Was he?
Yeah.
So like Steve Martin, was he old or did he just always look old?
He always looked great.
He's Anthony Cooper of...
Got it.
Yeah.
But Rodney Dangerfield, he was older when he got his big break.
Yeah, he got his first big break at 45 years old.
Wow, he is the Rodney Dangerfield.
I think Steve Maltonson Jr. gets a lot of respect, actually.
I was just doing Rodney Dangerfield.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That was that comparison.
Wow, okay, cool.
So.
Man, who are you?
I'm interested to see what you go with.
There's two that I love here.
It's Averyana and Carlin.
or faith for different reasons. I think they're both absurdly original creatively. And I love that.
It's so hard because they're both. Yeah, that is hard. And I really like them both as people.
Have you spent time with Avrianna? Have you? Yes, here. I tracked her down. That sounds creepy.
They really did. They really did. Re-rack. Her TikToks would come across my algorithm. And I
And I would see her doing no more tears.
And then her other music would be fed to me.
She does like another character as well.
And I just enjoyed how she approached creating content's the easy thing to say,
but all together, music, content, like what her brand was.
So, yes, Carter Faith came out and opened for me and was so good live.
Yeah, a few shows.
And then she is, she is so.
unapologetically
F you, man.
And I don't feel like
she's ever going to be something
that someone wants her to be
only because they want her to be.
I don't feel like she ever was going to do that.
And she's also such a juxtaposition
of what people expect when they see
like a pretty blonde
that you would think traditionally
is just a good vocalist who minds
her piece and cues.
And then she just lifts up a middle finger
and it's like, no, F off.
For those two reasons,
like I'm a fan of both of them.
Carter Faith was nominated
at one of the other award shows recently
maybe for like album of the year or something
but I'm going to go
I'm going to go Abrana
Okay
but that was hard for you
Yeah it's hard
I can't say anything else because that's our rule
Yeah you can't do a second place
Yeah I can't do a second place
Even though we both kind of did
One more category
Musical event of the year
Oh we're not doing the musicians
Well we kind of did
And when we gave Tom Bukovac and Rob McNally, yeah, and Charlie Worsham.
A musical event of the year.
Now, this is always a song with two people on it.
Yes.
Like two different artists and they do a collab type song.
So we have a song to sing Miranda Lambert with Chris Ableton.
Horses and Divorces, Casey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert.
I can't love you anymore.
Ella Langley and Morgan Wallen.
If you don't leave, I'm going to stay, Carly Pearson Riley Green.
and MacArthur
by Hardy Eric Church,
Morgan Wallen, and Tim McGraw.
What's odd
is none of those songs are big hits.
No.
No.
And a lot of times big hits
that have collabs
are the ones that win this.
And I would say like two stick out.
I think MacArthur
sticks out.
Can you sing that song?
No.
It sticks out
because it has nine people on it?
Can you imagine the trophies
they got to give out for that one?
No, because I've heard of it.
I've heard of MacArthur.
And I can't love you anymore.
I can't love you anymore.
Right?
Is that how it goes?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, it is.
Good point.
Great point.
I stand corrected.
And since that's the only one I can sing back to you, I'm going to pick that one.
Yeah, I'm humiliated because I messed that up and it was the number one.
You're fine.
No, no, you're fine.
And now I must commit Harry Carey.
What is that?
What is that?
Well, I hope it wasn't racist, first of all.
You've got to do some research.
Yeah, I mean, let me do some research here because we'll be.
bleep that out if it was. Let's see here. I've heard people say that, but I've never understood what.
Let me look at it. Don't tell me, Mike. Don't tell me. If I'm going to say, what does it mean if I say
I must commit Harry, carry? Because sometimes you hear stuff or you say stuff your whole life and then you
hear that it's actually rooted in something racist. Yes, of course. Like, no. Yeah, you're right.
A lot of stuff. It's an Indian style. Oh, right. Okay. Okay. Well, what does it mean?
I think I'm okay.
But are you borderline?
It sounds like you...
It kind of.
Well, hold on.
It says,
when you say I must commit Harry Carey,
because to me,
Harry Carrey is also the Cubs announcer
that I grew up to loving about.
No.
You're not talking about Harry Carrey
to take me out to the ball game.
No, that'd be me being drunk doing a ball game.
Right, right, yeah, yeah.
She was like, what's wrong with that?
When you say I must commit Harry Carrey
you're using a humorous,
mispronounced slang term
that means I am incredibly embarrassed,
frustrated or stressed out,
and I want to disappear.
It's a dramatic way of saying,
I can't handle this right now.
The origin of the,
the phrase, the actual Japanese concept,
Harakuri, this is a westernized
mispronunciation, which was the historical
ritual suicide by disembowelment
practiced by Japanese samurai to restore honor
after a massive failure or defeat.
There was also the baseball legend,
Harry Carey. People today use it as
figurative dark humor, which is what I was doing,
to express hyperbolic frustration.
So I'm going to say,
is it racist to say for me a white man?
Is it racist for me to say as a
white man.
I think, well,
let's see what it says.
No.
No.
And are they white?
It's AI white.
Are you white?
No, it is inherently not racist.
It is considered outdated and a bit cringy.
Yeah, it's crazy.
It's cringy because it's a mispronunciation.
Like the fact that it was a mispronunciation and they kept saying it,
even though they knew they weren't saying it right,
that's a little...
It is outdated slang
and it says
better alternatives
so I could have said this instead
oh man I'm embarrassed
I wanted the ground to swallow me up
no that sounds stupid
okay
I'm so stressed
I really wanted to pull my hair out
because I missed that
better
okay
oh man I'm so embarrassed
I can't take this anymore
whoa
but then you'd follow that up with
I must come out of Harry Curate
yeah that's crazy
that's cool we learn something
yeah
That's kind of what I thought it was.
Dude, that's nuts.
I always thought it was Harry Carey from the Cubs.
I think I'm saying it wrong, but yes.
But a part of me, too, was like, it must mean, like, kill yourself somehow because it's like
commit.
Do you ever watch that show on Amazon about when?
Samurai.
No.
Nope.
Whenever.
No.
Wait, let me finish my sentence.
Yeah, go ahead.
That song on the show on Amazon where World War II was lost by the Americans in Japan and
Germany owned the country and it was split.
Never saw it.
I remember seeing the picture of it.
It's called Castle something?
Yeah, the Man on High Castle.
Really great first season.
Great concept.
The concept's A plus.
I learned about that through that show.
Because they would do that in the Western Party of the United States.
If somebody embarrassed themselves, they would do that.
And that's what I wanted to do whenever I forgot that Ella Langley and Morgan Wallen was the number one.
So I'm not going to pick that one.
What are you going with?
Not all that to say.
No, no, just that I forgot.
Okay.
Just I forgot.
That's on me.
I forgot.
So are you going to go with MacArthur?
No, because, man, that song is not a slam dunk.
It's crazy.
You know when they all put that down with Hardy and Church and Wall and and McGrath.
They're like, this is going to be number one in a week.
They thought it was going to be We Are the World, part two.
For sure.
Come in.
Quincy Jones is producing, like,
Michael Jackson's leading it.
Yeah, I think probably, and it just hasn't done that.
I'm going to go with Casey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert Horses and Divorces
because it was a big feud between those two and told this song.
Oh, right.
And they got together on Casey's record and did this song.
And I'm glad.
I'm glad they got over it.
I'm so glad they get musical event of the year.
So much they get an award.
That's it.
Okay.
Now, those aren't our predictions, but those are who we'd like to see wins.
But what if those all want?
Well, we couldn't because we had different ones, but unless they were ties.
All the ones we weren't.
They all tie.
That'd be crazy.
Okay, that was our not predicting CMA special.
Our, our CMA special of people we want to see when.
There you go.
For different reasons.
Can that be the title?
But we'd be like predicting the awards, but.
When you title are there, is there a maximum number of characters?
characters? 75. Oh, that's tough.
Yeah. Oh, dude, Mike and I are sitting here sometimes when we're trying to edit this
and we're removing like A&D and putting in an ampersand.
Yeah. Will it work without a space? I know. Yes.
Yeah, yeah. Do you have fun?
I had a blast. That's all that matters. That's all that matters. Thank you.
Thank you guys for listening and watching and the CMAs.
Their thing. And here's my trophy.
Congratulations on that, by the way. Thank you. And we'll see you guys next time.
All right, bye, everybody.
