Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:55 We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. with all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They had a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Ramers sending on the Army. Score at the chip. I'm Tab Ramos. I'm Tom Boca. On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real storylines. the biggest decisions, and the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. Come on, Bobby. What's up, everybody? Mora's video. Morning. At risk being sexist, I'm going to say a couple things. I don't like a male masseuse. I have male physical therapist when I've been injured.
Starting point is 00:02:09 It's unfair. I had one. I had one. My wife and I went and God a few days ago. She's like, let's go get a massage. We're just like, yeah, okay. So we got one. And there's two dudes.
Starting point is 00:02:19 I don't like care if a dude rubs her. I think she even prefers a female. I don't want to put words in her mouth. Well, I do. As a female, I prefer a female, and I've had them from male masseuses. And that's if it's like the only option. And that was the only option. There's only two is a last minute thing.
Starting point is 00:02:34 So we go, and here's the thing about dudes. I guess this is why I don't like. dude masseuses is that I go in and it's not even the rubbing part. It's the competition part. So I go and he's like, hey, what pressure do you like? And I'm like, you can go as hard as you can. I'll just tell you when it hurts. Like, we'll find our way that way because I don't like to give a number.
Starting point is 00:02:56 And so he's like, all right, let's go. Let's show base, baby. Let's give it to you. So he's just crushing me. But I'm too, I'm like not wanting to back down. So he's like rubbing as hard as it. And I'm like, it hurts so bad. but I won't say stop because I don't want to be the loser that goes,
Starting point is 00:03:11 a little lighter, please. Yeah, especially to the other man. If it were a woman, I'd be like, yeah, it's a little lighter. It's fine. Can you go back to him? But for some reason, to a dude, there's like a battle of masculinity happening there. And I don't want to say, can you rub a little lighter? Because I'm just trying to get his respect.
Starting point is 00:03:29 So if you're, like, you had a guy and then Caitlin had a guy and it didn't bother you that Caitlin had a guy? No. Okay. My friend's in a major fight with her boyfriend right now because she got. a guy. He didn't like that she got a guy? Yeah and I guess it's something they had previously discussed and he shared his thoughts on it and all the reasons why he didn't like it. And she, you know, agreed and even said, yeah, I'm not comfortable with a guy, but then she showed up to her appointment and the female masseuse was sick. So she called that sick and because she had requested a female,
Starting point is 00:04:02 they offered her, you know, a credit to come back or you don't have to get this massage right now, right? but she was already there because the replacement was a guy and so instead of the credit she took the guy and after she did it she told her boyfriend and they got in a huge fight
Starting point is 00:04:17 why'd she tell him I guess just transparency no need for it there oh okay massage was good so what's he upset about he jealous and another dude's rubbing his girl
Starting point is 00:04:28 I don't know if it's jealousy I mean that's jealousy I put it in that category a little bit but I just was a little it's jealousy because even when when I was married my husband And like one time even booked me a massage and all they had was a guy. And so he was like, yeah, no problem.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Just go. It was a very weird experience. But I didn't like it. But he didn't have a problem with it. So with her, I didn't know what advice to give her for her boyfriend because. Don't tell him. Well, that's already happened. I know, but don't tell him ever again.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Like the fight is almost break up a bowl. What? Yes, because it's like so like we. Okay, she needs a new boyfriend then. Go ahead and break up. The passion behind it. That's the dumbest thing to ever be that upset about. I can understand if it was, hey, I don't like this, makes me uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:05:11 And she's like, I respect that. And then she's like, hey, sorry, I got there and it's all they had. Right. And then. And it's my body, so I'll do what I want. Well, I wouldn't say it like that. But then you can have a whole like, I didn't want to leave. It felt uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:05:24 I know I messed up, but I felt like I needed to do it. And then he's like, oh, crap. And then you move on. But to get that upset, like what happened in a past relationship? Did like the masseuse? Like, get his girl. You know what I mean? Like his other girl went and next thing you know, her and the masseuse are getting at it.
Starting point is 00:05:40 And then they break up and she's with the masseuse. Yeah, I'm not sure. There's some trauma there. But it's got to be something, right? I didn't get jealous at all. What I told Caitlin was, I was like, this dude has a lottery with you because his other dude's got me. Like, imagine, it's two dudes. And they're like, all right, let's see who we got here.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Let's draw straws. You can have the athletic, attractive, female, or you can have this guy. It's a great point. Yeah, I was like, when a masseuse, when a dude masseuse sees a dude on the schedule, he's like, I think even they are like that. Oh, crap. I think one of his points, which I'm trying to understand is like when male like doctors, for example, or with any females alone in a room, they have to have another female present.
Starting point is 00:06:25 But anybody can. A doctor and a massage therapist is kind of a stretch. And also they're not going in your body. Like a gynecologist. Well, isn't it any kind of doctor or is it just a gynecologist? No, I don't think if you're going in for a sore throat, they got to bring in another doctor. They don't bring in another, they don't have a supervision. I think if they do anything like with your reproductive area as somebody comes in.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Right, a male. But I don't think if you got an earache. Hey, Betsy, come in here. I need to check her ear. Yeah, true, true. I don't know because I'm serious is just touching certain parts of your body that are very intimate. It's also their job. It's professional.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Yeah, I agree. I know. I'm not arguing with you. This dude is a loser. Well, he's not really a loser. This dude is a loser. Hold on. They're in a fight that big about this.
Starting point is 00:07:04 is a loser and this is not going to be the only instance where this kind of behavior happens. This dude's a loser. And by the way, I know it's sex is for me not to like guys, but it's not about they're rubbing. It's about me being competitive and going, just rub as hard as you can. I'm just going to fight through the whole thing. So I don't, but I don't like guys. Yeah. But the dude's a loser.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Okay. Do I know him? No, you don't. But I hope that like, gosh, I didn't know what it was going to go. I honestly thought y'all might take a little bit. I'm breaking up. I'm breaking up with them. Sometimes I think things I bring up are never going to get back to that. person and then the stories well they do well if i ever see you in person i'm going to act like
Starting point is 00:07:41 it was just a bit and i take it all back yeah but for the sake of this uh yeah a little too dramatic if you ask me okay it's something we call bobby's mailbag yeah hello bobby bones i love my girlfriend very much i appreciate she is willing to do stuff that i enjoy but she has all but given up on the things that she used to be into and just does stuff with me i don't want to seem ungrateful for for her wanting to be with me and learning to enjoy what I enjoy, but I don't want her to grow to resent me for having given up her own interests. I want her to have her own things. She likes to do things without me.
Starting point is 00:08:19 I wish she would do more. How can I say this to her without it coming off like I don't appreciate her? I just want her to not give up on her own life for me. Signed, cautious boyfriend. Well, this sounds like a very early case of extreme codependency. And these usually don't end well. That's a tough one because if you're like, hey, I like you to do stuff by yourself,
Starting point is 00:08:42 then she goes, what, you don't want me to be around you? And if she doesn't have her own version of her life that she does without you, it's going to drive you both crazy. It's going to drive you crazy because she's with you all the time. She's going to slowly start to lose a sense of who she is. Amy, how would you handle this one?
Starting point is 00:09:01 I mean, I think you definitely need to say something. You're codependent. If the response is, yell that. If the response is, well, you don't. want me to be around you, then you can implement a tool that I learned in my co-parenting therapy. Well, couples therapy. And now with my ex, as we're parenting, we still use this tool to this day.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Sometimes, like, one of us will say something and one of us may respond quickly with not what the person said. And it's like, hey, hey, hey, let's bust out the tool of like, okay, what I'm hearing you say is and then have the person repeat it back. So that way you can come to a conclusion. Because if, if she were to say, what I'm hearing you say is you don't want to spend time with me and you're like, no, no, that's not what I'm said. Repeat back exactly what I said and then she'll have time to actually hear, oh, what you're saying is I haven't been doing a lot of the things that I used to do for myself and you would like for me to have that because it's important and for us to maintain a healthy relationship. Yeah, this is only going to grow and fester too if you don't nip it now. This will just get worse and worse and worse. This is what I would suggest.
Starting point is 00:10:02 You go to her and you say, hey, why aren't you? Let me just make something up mowing the yard. because she loves to mow the yard. That's the thing she's always done for her own health and safety and friends. And why aren't you mow in the yard with your friends anymore? Well, I like to do this with you. Yeah, and I love for you to do it with me too.
Starting point is 00:10:17 But it will make me feel better if you would do some of the stuff that you used to love to do because I feel like you are happier when you do that. So can we both dedicate a time where we both do our own things? Oh, go play Madden and you'll do this. You definitely have to make it a wee thing if you're going to make it a her thing.
Starting point is 00:10:36 And then if she uses the tool correctly, she would say, okay, so what I'm hearing you say is, like, you think we should have our things. And I haven't done that in a while. And you would like to have your own stuff and me to have my own stuff. And then we have our stuff together, too. That's never going to be that healthy. I'm telling you. That's. I swear to you, it can be.
Starting point is 00:10:53 But it's not going to be when he first does this and goes up to her. Practice. But this is like, he wants to know, like, what to do right now. Well, then that's, that's on her. I mean, he should improve his tool. And it's like, she can't gather it. And she's going to respond with that. Like, or he doesn't want to.
Starting point is 00:11:06 bring this up because he's too concerned about her feelings, then he's the one being codependent. You're codependent on her too. That's right. That means you're getting how you feel based on how she feels. Go to her and say, hey, you can even do it to yourself. Be like, hey, look, I feel like me, I've stopped doing a lot of things that I love to do and you've doing things.
Starting point is 00:11:22 And I don't want us to get into that situation where we both are just only doing stuff together. So let's keep doing stuff together. But let's also dedicate something for each of us to do with our own friends so we don't lose our relationship with that. You have to put it on you too. That's great. No, I think that that's actually a really healthy way to say it.
Starting point is 00:11:39 And then it... I mean, you're lying, but... That's not a lie? No, yeah, you're lying. You're like, because he does plenty of stuff he likes to do. But you have to do that so she doesn't feel attacked. Okay. You have to make it a wee, so it's not just a her.
Starting point is 00:11:48 I'm fine with bending it a little bit because I think there's some truth in that. Yeah. Good luck with that because it sounds like this is a nightmare. This is a nightmare because of what could happen later on in life. Yeah, but it's good that you're having it now because you have to realize. Like, if you can't figure out how to resolve this sort of thing now, then... Also, you might be. It might be the end.
Starting point is 00:12:06 You might just be annoyed with her anyway and you know, I'll be around her. Right. Like, investigate that. Maybe you just don't like to be around her. Mm-hmm. And this is what you think. Maybe you break up. Yeah, maybe you just screw it.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Screw it. So what I'm here you say is. Be with somebody else. Yeah, good luck with that. I would make it a wee thing, not a her thing. That's the way to do it. And if not, and it doesn't change. This is something you've got to figure out because this will only get worse.
Starting point is 00:12:29 All right, good luck with that, buddy. Glad it ain't me. I hate those kind of emails and I'm like, glad it ain't me. All right, close it up. We got your email and we read it on the air. Now it's about to close. Bobby's mail back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Elder Lunchbox, Millennial Morgan. It's a trivia game between generations. Lunchbox, if you win, you're the champ. Oh. You retire, Morgan. Wow. It's over. Oh, man.

Starting point is 00:17:19 I thought that was a character name. I had no idea. What? It all comes down to this. It all comes down to this. Oh, my goodness. By the championship. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:17:33 What was the name of the toy line introduced by Hasbro in the 1980s? Morgan, what were you born? 1993. Featuring small, colorful horses with long brushable hair and cute marks on the side. What was the name of the toy? Introduced by Hasbro in the 1980s featured small, colorful horses with long brushable hair and cute marks on their sides. For the win.
Starting point is 00:18:01 I can see them. I can freaking see them. I had them. Oh my gosh, what is their name? This is no. I'll tell you the name. Do you know it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:13 The championship. Yeah. What is that freaking? Hold on. The clock is starting. Yeah. Now. Shoot, what is her name?
Starting point is 00:18:25 Magic ponies. Incorrect. Lunchbox. My little pony! Correct. I'm a champion. I'm a champion. I'm a champion.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Wow, wow. Before we play your winning song. Okay, question. Before we play your winning song. Yeah. Have you beat every millennial? I beat them all. I think you're retired the game. I beat them all. I think you're the greatest and the game goes away. I brought in Swifty Lorne. I sent her a packing. I brought in Abby. I sent her a packet. Wow. Starting point is 00:19:22 Okay. I'm not saying we're going to do it, but as the greatest ever, maybe we need a new Thursday game. Okay. So think of the game. Give me some pitch ideas next week, okay? Wow, yeah, I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Right now? No, no. He's ready to think of it. Oh, you're ready to go. Oh, you're ready to go. I'm ready for a new game because, man, that got boring. All right, there he is. The greatest ever.

Starting point is 00:19:49 That's it. The Tiger Woods. It's time for the good news. With Bobby. Tell me something good. Big shout out to Crave Kitchen and Bar in Eagle, Idaho. They are donating $25,000 bucks to clear their Amazon wish lists of the teachers in their town, which is pretty cool, the restaurant just to go.
Starting point is 00:20:09 that. 25 grand. We got it. Her and her husband, like they have a lot of teachers that come into the place. And so they're like, hey, we're doing this,
Starting point is 00:20:17 but if anybody can do anything to help these teachers, that would be awesome. Crave Kitchen and Bar in Eagle, Idaho. So hopefully, if you're up there in that area, you'll go and support them
Starting point is 00:20:27 because they're supporting other people. Just liked it. I thought it was good. You know, I've done a couple lists myself. We did want to them on the air where I sent the woman the wrong money.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Oh, yeah. Never heard from that woman. That's rude. See. We had a caller that called and she did not ask for the money, but she was asking lunchbox how he felt about teachers asking for money. He hates it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I'm totally fine with it because nobody has to do it, but if you're inclined. And so I said, hey, let me pay your list. And she said, well, I don't want you to do that. It ended up being 500 bucks. I paid it off. Then I got a message going, hey, I don't think your money came through like three days later. I'm like, dang, I looked at it. And it did.
Starting point is 00:21:02 So I hit up Abby. I was like, what's her name again? I missed it by one letter typing in a Venmo. So I sent somebody 500 bucks who then thought I was scamming. them doing that scam where you send money and ask for it back. So I was just out to money. So when your Venmo said, you know, you've never sent money this person. I just said it.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Go. You're just like, eh. Whoever puts the number in. Right. Whoever. Once in my life, I've been like, yeah, here's the last four digits to play it safe. I've got to, I go straight in. Hit play and go.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Okay. Yeah. But shout out to Crave Kitchen and Bar and to anybody that can help a teacher, a few bucks here there. That's awesome. That's what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good. A win is a win.

Doing pretty good. She told me that Stanley, our bulldog is way too fat, which I think bulldogs are just fat.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I think that's the life they've chosen and they live it. But she's like he needs to eat way less food. And so I fed him this morning. It was like a thimble. I felt so bad because he looked. I swear to this is not exaggeration. I dumped the thimble of food. in his bowl. And he usually goes right to town eating it. Before he went to eating it, he looked at me.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Like, where's the rest of my food? Dr. Josie, what did you see in Stanley, my bulldog? Okay, we're not going to body shame Stanley. I think he's just a little overweight. He could stand to lose like five pounds. And the so-called symbol is two-thirds of a cup twice a day. That's a pretty good amount of food. Not from what I was giving him. What were you giving in, by the way? Oh, blind scoop. I take the ball and go blind scoop into the bowl. Whatever feels pretty good. And then I let him, he loves eating. And I love him loving something. So I would go blind scoop, and then just boom, right there.
Starting point is 00:25:45 So that's what I was. Yeah, no more blind scooping. We got to measure it out exactly. I know Caitlin's really good about it. She said she does the dinner. And then morning time is just when you're in charge and it's like a free for all. It's not a free for all. I like to see my dog's happy.
Starting point is 00:25:58 And so I do blind scoop. I like that sound. And then he goes and he has a good morning and I take him out in the morning. But then I thimble them and he's like, what the, are you doing? Your thimbling will make him live longer. It's going to make his joints feel better. I promise you. Like, I know it feels like you're being mean to your dog,
Starting point is 00:26:14 but it's so much better for them. Bulldogs usually live how long, Dr. Jesse? That's a tough question. I would say they can live all the way to 12, 13, 14. Really? Yeah, yeah, they can live longer. But I would say the average would be probably around 10 years old. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:29 We got a few years. You know, I'd rather live happy. Oh. How long until he loses this weight and we can go back to the blinds crew? Exactly. How long to lose five pounds? Do you remember what he weighed? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:39 He weighed 67 pounds. I'd like him to be like 60, 62. That probably will take six months or so. So maybe by Christmas, then you can just go back to it. Okay, question, Dr. Josie. Is it okay to let dogs ride in the front seat whenever you're driving and you're taking your dog somewhere? I think it's super cute when they ride passenger, but it is dangerous.
Starting point is 00:26:59 We have dogs that if you get in a car wreck, like they can fly through the windshield. So I would probably put them in a seatbelt. Like they make doggy seatbelts and harnesses if you are going to have them up there. otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. I've never brushed my dog's teeth. And I know I've mentioned to Dr. Joseph. Like I can't believe people brush their dog's teeth. And she's like, you need to brush your dog's teeth.
Starting point is 00:27:19 And so we have two dogs. Eller is our other dog. And I've never, I will say it. I have never brushed my dog's teeth. I'm a bad dog parent, I guess. I'm just trying to feed them. Why don't think you're bad? I think you're normal because I don't do it either.
Starting point is 00:27:30 So what was up with Eller's back teeth? Were they bad? Yeah, she's got some pretty heavy plaque and tartar back there, which is normal. I mean, she's at that age where they start to develop. out plaque and tartar. It's like if you and I never brushed our teeth for five years, we probably would have the same issue.
Starting point is 00:27:46 If you can brush them though, it will, you know, make that plaque and tartar take a lot longer to build up. So we do recommend doing it. But if not, it's not the end of the world. We'll just, you know, we'll have to do dentals with your vet a little bit sooner. Like once a week or how? Dentals, though. Do you have to put her to sleep to do that?
Starting point is 00:28:02 Yes, they're under anesthesia. They don't really open up and say, ah, for us, sadly. Well, they don't say awe to brush their teeth. Can I get some of that from my house so I can do it every night so I can brush their teeth? Absolutely not. I can never see a dog letting a human just go to town and brush their teeth and just chill and being like, what up?
Starting point is 00:28:18 So some dogs allow it? Yeah, I mean, I think especially if you start it when they're young and give them a treat when you do it or after you do it, then they think, oh my gosh, like if I sit here and my owner brushes my teeth and I get a treat after, like they can be very compliant. Dr. Josie's podcast is out called In the Vets Office. Her dog bit me during the episode. Yes, you did. I was doing nothing about it.
Starting point is 00:28:39 Doing nothing of petting them, just loving them. I just, the episode comes out today, actually, and I was just listening back to it, and I was dying, laughing. It is hilarious. And I'm sorry. He's sitting here right with me. He says, he's sorry. He bit you, but, you know, you touched his paws. What did you have?
Starting point is 00:28:53 I was going to say, what did you do? I try to give him too much food. I was like, we'd like some more food, buddy? What I mean? Overfeed you like I do. My dogs in my house. You'll love it, and you bit me. In the vet's office with Dr. Josie, thank you.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Stanley's going to start losing weight, but I'm telling you. My wife thinks Stanley's kind of done. because he's a bulldog. He just doesn't listen. I just think he's stubborn, but I think he's really smart. And is that what parents say about their kids, if their kids are kind of dumb?
Starting point is 00:29:17 Do they go like, no, no, he's just like stubborn. Amy, is that a day? I don't, I have not thought of my kids in that way. I guess I'm not sure. I really, I don't know. I have not thought about that. You think Bulldogs are pretty dumb? Dr. Josie?
Starting point is 00:29:31 No, I don't think they're dumb. I just, I mean, they're not like your labs or your German Shepherds that are like super duper smart. But no, I don't think Stanley's up. I think he's just stubborn and everyone thinks their own dog is perfect. I think that's normal. I think he's in the upper five percentile of bulldogs at least. Yeah, well, for a bulldog, he seems very smart to me. Thank you. That's all I needed. Thank you, Dr. Josie, her podcast in the vet's office with Dr. Josie. I am the guest this week. If you want to check that out, that would
Starting point is 00:29:58 be awesome. And Stanley is now going, what diet should he do? Should he like Mediterranean? Should he do like, keto? Keto. Don't worry. I talked to Caitlin about it. It's all good. You just need thimble a day. Thimble a day. You know how we get thimble is? It's this big, Bobby. Exactly how much food do you get the day? And he's getting two thirds.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Thank you. All right, Dr. Josie, have a great day. Thank you for being on with us. You're all going. Bye, guys. She's 21. She has 100 different allergies. Dang.
Starting point is 00:30:24 I thought I had a lot of allergies. They dug those things in my back and had like 11. But she has almost all allergies when it comes to food. She can literally only eat 13 things, period. White fish, turkey. grapes, raspberries, olive oil, water lily seeds,
Starting point is 00:30:44 chia seeds, that's not even real things to eat. She can really eat like seven things and that's all. She has a condition that limits her. She's from Los Angeles. She was diagnosed with MCAS MAST cell activation syndrome. It's a condition in which the patient experiences
Starting point is 00:31:00 repeated episodes of the symptoms of anaphylaxis where your throat closes up. How about that? If you don't eat that, crap. Imagine someone comes to the table at a restaurant. You have any allergies? Any food allergies? Yes, I do. You drop the You probably just can't eat out.
Starting point is 00:31:16 You lay the scroll out on them. Here's my scroll of all my allergies. That sucks for her. The symptoms such as pain, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, and others, and her throat closing up, she finally went to the doctor. I think it's unfair that they say she can eat 13 because olive oil,
Starting point is 00:31:34 water lily seeds, chea seeds, that doesn't count. Those are things that just go one stuff. Well, she has eaten pudding. But what about the pudding? You can't eat the stuff in the pudding? Well, you do, you add, can she have milk?
Starting point is 00:31:45 No. Oh, shoot. Water? White fish, turkey, green beans, zucchini, cucumber, lime? That doesn't even count. No, no, that's just a juice.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Well, that's good because on her white fish, she can at least season it with olive oil lime. Braves, raspberries, pears. And then the four things that they have listed. So you're looking at nine foods. She can literally eat nine foods. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:32:07 lunchbox had an etiquette question about a restaurant. So you go in, did you eat? Oh, we ate. Okay. And so they give you the receipt, the bill. What happened? Like they have a sign-up says all bills will have 18% gratuity added on. I'm like, great for me, because that means you're getting 18%.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Usually they expect 20%. So when they say that, would you add more on? Because then it does say, would you like to add tip? It's like, well, no, you already added 18%. Like, I'm good. Are you asking, are you supposed to add more on? Are you supposed to? No.
Starting point is 00:32:41 You do not have to. That is just to make sure that their staff is covered with an 18% tip. Could you if you wanted to? Absolutely. But I don't think if you pay your bill with the 18% tip. They're like, what a loser. He didn't tip us. No, you did tip them.
Starting point is 00:32:54 That was actually part of the bill. Right. It was already in it. And I was like, I thought in my head, I was like, I bet you there's suckers that still tip on top of that. I do. Suckers or like, oh, okay, maybe I just can add a little more. and they want to be generous like Bobby's saying. Yeah, I do, but I don't expect other people to do that.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Two things have happened to my life. One, I work to service industry forever. Two, I've had success, so now I have money to actually do it. So, but I don't expect everybody to do that. I think 18% is perfect. But I also think, I'll bet you some people don't even notice the sign. Oh, for sure. For sure.
Starting point is 00:33:25 And then they tip and it's like, oh, my gosh, I feel so bad. But if they don't ever know, then, you know. They may be like, man, that place is kind of expensive to eat. Yeah, exactly. man, how did it get to be that much? But yeah, I just... The answer to your question, which I think is a fair one and a good one, if it's an 18% gratuity already built in,
Starting point is 00:33:42 you don't have to figure out the other 2% or more. The 18% is there. You have paid it. And if you feel good about it, move on. I felt great. Don't feel bad about it. Okay. I didn't. Good. I'm glad we handled that because I was like, man,
Starting point is 00:33:56 they're trying to trick people, I think. The worst is when someone wouldn't tip me, you have to chase them outside. I would never chase people, but other people who waited a table with me would chase people. Yeah. They'd be like, you forgot to tip
Starting point is 00:34:09 knowing they just stiffed. That was the worst because somebody goes and they have a dinner, you've taken up a table, let's say I have six tables in my section. And it's not a full night
Starting point is 00:34:18 where there's only three tables or four tables at a time. There's 25% of that two-hour spot that you're just not getting paid for. You did all the work and you're getting nothing for it. So people were like chasing outside. Yeah, I remember one time
Starting point is 00:34:30 we were at IHOP late night in high school and there was a table of like eight people and we saw them only tip like 10 bucks and we were like, man, What a bunch of cheapos. And there was like five of us. And we just dined and dash. So then we were the bad ones.
Starting point is 00:34:42 So they were cheap for only tipping a little. But you guys. Then we dined and dashed. And in the car, we all right. What were you then? We tip zero. No, but what were you? If they were cheap.
Starting point is 00:34:51 That's what we laughed about when we were in the car peeling out of there. We were like, dude, we made fun of those people from only tip in 10 and we just bailed on the whole bill. Okay. If you have kids in the car, don't do that. Don't do what he did. He's a bad example. He's grown up. He's, hang.
Starting point is 00:35:05 Here's Amy's pile of stories. All right, I have the ways restaurants trick you into spending more money. I always felt it was weird that restaurants would bring out a bunch of rolls. Then you eat and get full and you don't want to eat as much. Yeah. I never am appetized. I'm never appetized by an appetizer. I am always a little more full.
Starting point is 00:35:24 It could be that I have digestive issues and I fill up so fast. But are you ever appetized by an appetizer? Yeah, I mean, sometimes I get a little full. And I guess to your point, yeah, you would want them to spend more. So why fill them up on the free stuff? when you want them to order more things or dessert at the end. But my question is, did you ever appetized, meaning like you have a little something,
Starting point is 00:35:43 but then now you want more, more than you want it when you got there? Oh, you got more of the opposite. That's a dangest thing. All right, go ahead. What are they tricking this to do? Adjectives. Words like juicy, melty, and crispy. Those are really attractive words that make you think that,
Starting point is 00:35:58 oh, I'm going to get this and they can even charge a little more. Chef's recommendation. Like suddenly you feel like this is more of a special dish. Worked at a restaurant. Obviously. That means we're running out of it. We need to get rid of it. Truffle, if they add that to almost anything, it doesn't mean you're actually getting the
Starting point is 00:36:15 truffles on there. A lot of times it's made with truffle oil, but people just feel like they're getting something more. But I guess I think truffle oil is something fancy too. It is expensive. Yeah, I mean, I think there's truffle in it. It's more expensive. But if they just feel like a dab of the truffle oil, it's like, oh, let's just add
Starting point is 00:36:30 truffle into the name of this. Like, I order truffle fries, and I think they're $2.50 more every time. And I'm like, I don't really know that I taste anything different. I don't really know that I know what a truffle taste like. And I would see stories, because I would see these news stories about the demand for truffles, fake truffles, million dollars. They're doing, you know, fraud with selling these restaurants, fake truffles. Crazy, right?
Starting point is 00:36:57 But I don't think I know what a truffle it tastes like. And my palate doesn't truffle. Yeah. I like ruffles. Yeah. That's what I think about. I like ruffles. I know what those taste like.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Another way they make money is brunch. They can turn a dollar omelette into, you know, charge that bad boy up, throw in a mimosa. Next thing you know, you're spending 20 bucks. And then small plates. That's a really popular way where they can elevate the price because it just sounds better and like you're sharing all these small plates, but they end up making a lot more money. The top mental load tasks that mom handle and dads ignore have a whole list of them. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:37:30 It seems like, yeah, us moms do definitely do a lot. I'm not saying there are dads out there not doing this stuff. take it the wrong way. But when it comes to things like kids' doctors appointments and dentist appointments, like the medical stuff, that's on the mom. Oftentimes, birthday party presents, Christmas presents, gifts. Like, this is even if you have a working dad and a working mom, the mom still has the mental load of making sure that this stuff gets done. Tidying up, bringing stuff when you go out, like, what do we need? Snacks, diaper bag, all the things. Social life, like playdates for kids, keeping track of any shared calendars and packing lunches.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Is there a list of things that dads do? Yeah, it says, like watch games. Take out the trash. Mm-hmm. Yeah, that made a list of fixing stuff around the house and helping at bedtime. Okay. So, I mean, we need to stuff up the game there. And then Jelly Roll is deputized.
Starting point is 00:38:24 You know what that means? Yeah, like he's, well, probably not really, really, but yes, he's been deputized as, like, a law enforcement officer. Yeah, he's at the county jail in Michigan, which this is crazy. If you know Jelly Roll's story, he used to be. in jail and then now here he is being sworn in as a deputy sheriff, which is like you with your honorary doctorate, your degree. There's no reason to disparage me. No, that's, there's no reason to me. No, this is a cool story. You want a prescription? Not anymore. I'm not giving you one. That's not. This was a. Hey, I write prescriptions all day with my honorary doctorate. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:38:55 but that's what this is. His honorary sheriff deputy badge situation. Why, that's cool if you got a badge. Oh, I'm sure. I didn't get a stethoscope. Yeah, but you got a diploma. That's true. That's true. Yeah, I made me. That's my pile. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news. With Amy. Tell me something good. So Jamie Brewer is a mom to a 10-year-old, Caroline Brewer, who has been battling cancer since
Starting point is 00:39:21 she was three years old. Caroline's now 10. She loves Taylor Swift. So Jamie, her mom, try to get her tickets. She was scammed. So she thought she's buying these Taylor to Swift tickets. Turns out, nope, they're not even there. And all of their money, yes, I mean, think of how much has to go into the cancer.
Starting point is 00:39:37 journey. It's not like going to buy these Taylor tickets. It's just one small thing. So when Otis Mayer heard about it, he works for a 105.3 in Atlanta on IHeartRadio. And he heard about the story. Contacted Taylor's record company, organized a special surprise for Caroline. She's going to New Orleans to see Taylor and the heirs tour, all expenses paid, concert tickets, flights, hotel, all the things. And so what went from like a really devastating story of being scanned was like a really fun surprise for Caroline. Great job, Otis. Classic Otis.
Starting point is 00:40:09 I never met Otis, but now I like him. Yeah, I did that. I've emailed record labels about Taylor stuff. I don't even get responses. Otis must really carry some weight. Yeah. I mean, he was able to pull it off, which I think is super cool. And the mom was talking about how she just wanted to thank everybody, but also just, hey,
Starting point is 00:40:27 if you have any way to help fight childhood cancer for them, it's the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research based in Atlanta. But really any way in your area or St. Jude, however you can give back to kids fighting cancer and families, would be amazing. And to Otis, give back to Otis too. Yeah. But he would probably be like, no, no, if you want to give back to me, give back to others. No, I think you'd take it. I think you take it now.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Shout out to Otis. All right, there you go. That's what it's all about. That was tell me something good. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'm saying. Yep, that's me.

Starting point is 00:44:06 get lost. Why? They always stay on track. That was the morning corny. That wasn't a very good one. Oh. Yeah, that's okay. We have bad days. That's okay. I have Olympic themed stuff. Okay, give me another one. Okay. What's an Olympian's favorite kind of music?
Starting point is 00:44:25 What? Heavy metal. That's a good one. Okay. Yeah, that's a good one. A lot better. Yeah, you've really... That first one's tough, yeah. Because marathoners don't stay on track. I just felt like, as a friend, I should tell you, it could have been better. you know. Okay, yeah, true. Second one was A plus though. But Marizonders, they didn't have a track, but they always stay on course. There's a course.
Starting point is 00:44:43 No, you have to explain, though, corny. The corny is unexplainable. All right, thank you very much. This is a voicemail from Sarah who lives in Montana. Hey, I was just listening to the podcast about the bears. Please don't ever run from a bear. Running from a bear can actually trigger their predator mode and they can get your prey and they will chase. You're supposed to slowly back.
Starting point is 00:45:06 away. Yeah, I hear you. And I know that's probably the right thing to do, but I'm telling you, most of us would be like, oh, crap, and just take off running. And what we were saying was, if it's brown, lay down. Not really. Don't actually lay down, but that means you're supposed to, well, you're supposed to be there, be calm, but it just rhymed. If you're brown, stand down. Lay down. Okay. If it's black, monitor your crack
Starting point is 00:45:36 because I think you're just pooped everywhere and you're about to get eaten. Was that what it was? No, it was run and don't look back. Yeah. Oh. So now. Oh, dang.
Starting point is 00:45:45 I pooped all over myself in that one. Okay, so if you're black, don't look back. If the bear's black, yeah. Okay. If it's brown, lay down. But not literally. Right. If it's black, don't look back.
Starting point is 00:45:57 But literally, but you need to look back. Why should you run? No, wait, wait. No, he said, don't run. So if it's black, run. Run. Slowly walk back. No, no, no, run on black.
Starting point is 00:46:08 No, she just said. Don't run. It'll activate their predator. And if it's white, good night. You're dead. Okay. So. She sounded like she knew what she's talking about.
Starting point is 00:46:17 We need more. We need an expert of bear expert. Yes. Also, we're never going to run into bears. Yeah, you say that now. Whoa, whoa. Whoa. No one things are about to run into a bear.
Starting point is 00:46:25 We're spending a lot of time talking about running into a bear. Running into a bear. See, that's the thing. You say you've got to be prepared for everything. Okay, but if you're brown, lay down. Lay down. Not literally.
Starting point is 00:46:36 Or sit down. Okay? Just remember down, just stay. If you're black, don't look back and run. No, if it's black. Yeah. And if it's white. Got it.
Starting point is 00:46:47 I'm not going to be nowhere where it's white. No. I'm going to be nowhere where it's white. You're way off the grid if you see a white one. I'm good. I don't even like going outside when it snows here. And there's not even going to be a polar bear here. So I'm good.
Starting point is 00:46:58 Do you know polar bears? There's fur isn't even. White. I know. You've said that in the Fun Fact Friday. That's the wildest thing I've ever heard. I know. It's crazy. Lunchbox thinks our listeners are very ungrateful. Yeah. What about the listeners this time has annoyed you? Well, so back in 2023, I Heart Festival in Austin, I got a set list signed by Jordan Davis. That's cool. And I was like, oh, give it away on Instagram. Just being nice, you know, trying to do something nice for listeners. It's something cool. And so I got, and I picked a winner and he sent me his address. And let's be real. I never sent it. I never sent it. Is that what this
Starting point is 00:47:30 voicemail? And this dude leaves the voicemail, okay? That I didn't know you didn't send it. Here's the voicemail. I'm calling to spill the tea on lunchbox. Six months ago, he posted on his Instagram story that he was giving away a Jordan Davis setlist, who is my brother's favorite artist. And I commented
Starting point is 00:47:46 and he responded back that I won. I gave him my address and still no set list. Lunchbox, what's going on? I knew there would be a delay. Come on, man. This is ridiculous. So you waited a year. So I'd mailed it Two weeks ago now.
Starting point is 00:48:02 So it was, you know, even longer than this. I didn't even get a thank you. You waited a year to send it off. You're going to call and spill the tea and say, oh, what's the deal? But then I send it. And I even, no, I even sweet in the pot. I added something in the box. What?
Starting point is 00:48:18 A pimping joy shirt that you got for free at my office. Yeah. And I mean, I didn't even get as much as a thank you. You can't even go on Instagram and say, hey, thanks, finally got that thing. Have you gone to see it? Oh, I've gone. I go because I'm waiting. I'm like, okay, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:48:33 I don't know that I would be grateful if you told me I won something by randomly coming and playing your game that you suggest that I play. And then it doesn't come for a year. I'd be more like, thank God the guy finally sent it. But you should be thankful that you still got this cool thing. Your brother's favorite artist. Our listeners are ungrateful. Why do we do things for the listeners when we don't even get a thank you? I paid my own money for shipping.
Starting point is 00:48:58 Do you know what that means? I paid $8. and $62 to ship that thing. This listener did not reach out to you and go, hey, can you do this for me? What you did is that I have this. Who wants it? I'll give it to you. You volunteered this.
Starting point is 00:49:10 Correct. And I thought, oh, man, because I have access to these artists and Jordan Davis was walking off stage and the set list was right there. I was like, hey, why don't I get this guy to sign it? Someone will probably want it. And what do you know? They did. And they got it.
Starting point is 00:49:22 I mean, it was better than a year and a half later. A year and a half? It just went to a year and a half? Well, I mean, it was May of 2020. I mean, you get this surprise package in the mail. Boom. Yeah. A surprise is something you're not expecting. Well, you're not expecting it under a year and a half.
Starting point is 00:49:37 You think it's dead. Yeah, yeah. But you get it and you don't even say thank you? I tend to be ashamed to yourself. I agree with the listener. Yeah, me too. They didn't come to you and say, when you get this for me, you said, I have this, who wants it? They said, I'll take it.
Starting point is 00:49:48 You said, you're the winner. This thing that I have offered, you're now getting, I'll send it to you. And a year and a half later, you sent it? And a not even a thank you. I don't know if I'm ever doing something for a listener. Well, it sounds like you're really great at it. Yeah, it sounds like people, you're on top of it. And that is the end of the first half of the podcast.
