Starting point is 00:02:01 kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Too many of us were never, ever taught. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get. it your podcast. Here we go. Come on, Bobby. Transmitting. Hey, welcome to Thursday show.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Morning studio. Morning. I have a story here from The Dance of Anger by Harriet Lerner. The number one husband gripe. Now, these are gripes by husbands. And I'll read you the story, and I encourage the guys on the show.
Starting point is 00:03:26 What is your number one husband gripe? I'd love to hear it. The question is, what's the number one complaint of married men? The answer is being criticized by their wives. Nagging. Husbands tend to say, say I'm tired of being the target of nagging. Psychologists say a solution to the problem is for wives to dial down the criticism and make
Starting point is 00:03:46 sure that positive comments outnumber the negative ones by a healthy margin. So what that sounds like to me is you can still nag. Just make sure you're doing the fake comment, the positive stuff first. I think for every negative, try to give five positives. There just aren't that many positive things about me. So I know that would just be a lie. If she's like, hey, I got all the. I'm like, that's not true.
Starting point is 00:04:05 I'm not that. So what is your number one husband gripe to the husbands in the room? Let's go to lunchbox. I would say my wife was like, oh, you unload the dishwasher? So I started unloading the dishwasher. And I put a dish somewhere. Actually, I would do it this way. Oh, so she has to do something and tells you how to do it.
Starting point is 00:04:26 She doesn't like the way I'm doing it. It's like, if you want me to do it, let me do it my way. Or like, she wants me to help her cook every once in a while. And I start cutting something up. She's like, well, I would cut it this. this way. Well, then do it yourself. It is so
Starting point is 00:04:39 annoying. She says, I just can't help myself. And she says it every time, I can't help myself. You can help yourself. But is it something, because if my wife does something like that, like I'll love the dishwasher in a very unconventional way at times. And she's like,
Starting point is 00:04:53 the stuff doesn't get cleaned of like stacked on top of each other. Probably do it this way. All she has to do is tell me once. And I never do it wrong again. Once? Yeah. I don't know. I'm just saying, I know nothing.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I'm just saying. for something like that, yeah, because I don't want to have to hear it again. Oh, I thought that you all did have that thing where you continuously mess up so you don't ever get asked to do it again. Well, that's a whole different thing. That's a different part of our life. Or if there's like papers on the counter, I'll get the papers and I'll put them to them there. I wouldn't put them there. I'd put them over here.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Well, once, if you want me to pick them up, if you wanted to put them there, why didn't you put him there? But then if you do it again, does she tell you again or do you learn? Because if you're, if you learn, then she can tell you that once a minute. I'm done doing it. Oh, got it. You're going to criticize me. I'm like, all right, look, then do it yourself. Got it. I felt that.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Oh, man, we only get to do one. You're fired up, dude. Yeah, it irritates me to no end. He punches a hole in the wall. Okay, Eddie. Yeah, mine's more of the expectation. Like, she always expects me to do something. Like, if I, for example, when I leave work, I usually call her, right?
Starting point is 00:05:53 Say one day, I just don't call her. And I show up and they're like, where were you? I'm like, what do you mean? You usually call me when you leave work. and I'm like, do I have to do the same thing all the time? Like, why is it my fault that you're expecting me to do something without even asking me to do it? That I don't like. That's a question I would have for you.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Back in college, if you had a class on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and you sat in the same seat every time. Because we all did. We're good. You should have it. You'd sit, you know, third row, fifth seat over. You sat there every time, every time, every time. And then you walk in and staying people in the class, but somebody sits in that seat. How do you feel?
Starting point is 00:06:30 It's okay. It just didn't. I mean, it's all right. they decided to sit there one day. Even though you've sat in it every single day. You're not annoyed about that. You're not annoyed about that at all? Because I would be like, I know this isn't really my seat.
Starting point is 00:06:40 We haven't like taken and wrote down. But I feel like that's my seat. Like I'm there every week and you're always in this class. Why are you sitting there? Because you've always had your seat. I feel like there's an expectation that over time that that expectation when it becomes, not only is it met, it's expected. Then when you don't meet it because you've set that standard.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Then there's worry. I can understand. why there would be concern or irritation. But everything has to run the same every day. No, it's only because you've made it. You've run it the same every day. So when you don't run it the same, something must be off or different,
Starting point is 00:07:14 which raises concern, which they can manifest stuff into other things. Yeah. Anger, sadness. So that's why. So if I fall asleep on the couch because I'm tired, she in the morning, he's like, did you just fall asleep in the couch?
Starting point is 00:07:26 Are you mad at me? Like, what's going on? Nothing. I fell asleep on the couch. It's not a big deal. Do you have to answer that way? you say, oh, I was just tired. Oh, no, I'm just being lying about it now.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Oh, yeah, yeah, you would never do that. I would just as devil's advocate there, I would say, I would understand if you do something the same every single day, then you don't do something the same. I would think something is different in your life, and that could concern me because it's not. So. Interesting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:48 And I just use the school chair thing because that's what I think about. Like, if I'm in that same chair, I don't own it. I never declared it officially. But if someone's in it, I'm like, well, that's my chair. Yeah. I've been doing the same way every single time. And that's weird. And weird is uncreary.
Starting point is 00:08:02 comfortable. Yeah. Yeah. Like in the old building, if we parked them where you parked every day, you wouldn't have pulled him and like, no. No, Amy would park. Whatever. You would park in my spot.
Starting point is 00:08:09 No, that was my spot. You're parking my spot. Hey, Ray, what do you have? Yeah, mine are two huge gripes. It's the meal thing and it's because I work different hours. So either we can choose to be on the same meal schedule or we're not. So if I come home and eat it too and I say, hey, do you want to eat? I can pay you something up and you say no, then that means you have chosen and not be on my
Starting point is 00:08:27 meal schedule. So at four o'clock, two hours after I just ate, you cannot say, hey, what do you want to do for dinner? I just ate. Yeah, that's fair. We have chosen to be on different meal schedules. That's fair. So that's my biggest one.
Starting point is 00:08:39 My second biggest one is with the TV. So I don't tell you, hey, I'd love for you to come watch football with me. So why would you love for me to come watch a movie with you? I can watch a movie if we both are just in a room together and a movie comes on and we're both watching it. Why do I have to give up my football to watch a movie when I would never ask you to give up a movie to watch my football? Interesting. That's valid. Well, there's a lot of factors in that. Like, does he spend enough time with her in general?
Starting point is 00:09:08 Like, football is on Thursday, Friday, or no. Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Actually, every day of the week now. And then Friday, if you got Friday night likes. It could be a dynamic where he works all the time. It's not really about football to movie ratio. It's about Ray Mundo hanging out with wife ratio. It's just not a war against football.
Starting point is 00:09:27 I would never criticize a movie, but I don't make you watch my football. Why are you making me watch these movies? I hear you. Hey, listen, nobody's wrong. We're just talking. Oh, good. We're just talking through them. My number one husband gripe is probably no, no street clothes in bed ever.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Like, to go to sleep? You go to sleep and sit on it. It's like, oh. Like nothing. She is so particular about what touches. After I clean my feet, even though I'm walking out as barefoot, I have to clean my feet. And I get it. Like, it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:09:57 It makes sense. But it's like, it's so much work. Like, if I'm wearing a. pair of shorts that I've had outside. I can't even sit on the bed. She's like, we don't have, no, no, no dander. It is weird though if you, like, sit on your bed with jeans. It does feel weird that you're on the bed with jeans. You know when I was single? Not so weird. And then, again, I now am just trying to go in, wet a washcloth and wipe my feet down before I go to bed every night. Since you're like, you've been out, you take the dogs out to pee,
Starting point is 00:10:24 you're barefoot. You should get little, like, wipes to keep by your bed that you should have to wet a wet cloth you can just get like a little white like I have them for my dog and her paws it could be like your feet no thanks you have like a little bowl of water and just the sponge anyway thanks for sharing guys I appreciate it I'm just like disposable all right let's get the show going here this question is a sad one my wife and I are seriously at odds about how to handle it our 23 year old daughter is living with us she has a pet cat yesterday she went off on a 10 day trip with some girlfriends today her beloved cat passed away she's had this cat since she was a kid it's been an amazing 15 years.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I think we should tell her. My wife doesn't want to because it will ruin her trip. She's even suggested just burying it and telling her that it ran away. I feel like she's an adult. She can handle it. What's the best way to deal with this? Signed, bearer of bad news. So I have a lot of answers from personal experience.
Starting point is 00:11:31 I like to first share a story with you. I was doing some work a few weeks ago. I was hosting an awards thing in New York and get a call from, we always have somebody at our house watching our dogs. It's a double security dog thing. Right? If we're gone, somebody's at our house. Because, like, Pat Mahomes' house got robbed. You know? And if there's somebody who's like Pat my home, just me.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Right. Same. Yeah, in every way, except all. So the person watching our dog is called, and they were crying. And I was like, what? Calm down, calm down, calm down. My wife's with me, so I know she's fine. And I'm like, what's up? And she's like, Eller's gone.
Starting point is 00:12:08 The dog's gone. But she's calling me not to tell me that just that she's gone, because I wouldn't be able to help find her from there. but we track her on the app on the air tag so she's like can you look on your air tag got her right luckily we found her everything was great so i needed that call in that situation so because i could help now if i couldn't help it's a different story i went to south america to tape a show called snake in the grass we had to go live in the jungle miserable experience fine show miserable experiences of living but we were there and the people that stayed at the house because they stayed there for a month and a half
Starting point is 00:12:44 I told them if any, the dogs die for any reason, do not tell me. Like, they're dead. I can't do anything about it. Don't let the dogs die. But if the dogs die, there is nothing I can do that's going to help that. And there's only news that's going to affect me in a negative way while I'm here. Like, there is no gain from me knowing that when I can do nothing about it. Luckily, the dogs didn't die.
Starting point is 00:13:06 And I would check in and be like, do the dogs die or how the dogs? And they would say good. And I'd be like, I don't know if I can believe you. Because I'd already told them. Because I'd already told them. But there was no benefit to. it ruining what I was doing. Now, number one, you do not need to tell her until she comes back.
Starting point is 00:13:21 Because you will remove Joy from her trip over something that she has no control over in any way whatsoever. She will get to mourn exactly the same way, but let her have her fun first. Secondly, you don't lie about the cat running away because that is a different kind of anxiety. Like, let's find it. Will it ever come back? Well, there needs to be closure with this as well.
Starting point is 00:13:39 The cat was 15 years old. Yeah. It sucks. It sucks. Well, my last dog died. Like, dude, it's awful. Makes me so sad. I'm sad thinking about it now.
Starting point is 00:13:50 I dedicated my second book to my dog that died. I remember writing on the front of the book, Failing until you don't. I was like too dusty, been a great dog, blah, blah, blah, but I know you'll never read this because you're a dog. I was after, like, I loved that dog. But it would have done me no good if I could do nothing about it. And I say the same thing, but you do need to tell her.
Starting point is 00:14:11 It's going to be tough. The decision's going to be. do you freeze the cat until she gets back and let her bury it, or do you bury it yourself and say this is where the cat is? I think that's what it is. You freeze it in your freezer? Yeah, or something. In a bag.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Oh, okay, okay. In a box. Yeah. A cooler. Like a place, you mean. A cooler. Lunchbox is probably right. You put it in an ice and a cooler because you don't want it in your fridge or freezer.
Starting point is 00:14:35 But if you put it in a bag in a box, remember maybe your friend has a deep freezer or something. Oh yeah, something like that's fine. But don't tell them what it is. Like an ice chest is a little risky. Dear me. That's the decision you'll have to make knowing your daughter if she wants to bury it herself. Or if she's not going to be cool, it's going to be very sad. Or if you think she'd be better just knowing this is where it's buried.
Starting point is 00:14:55 That's the decision. The other ones, you do not tell her. And two, you do not say it ran away. You say when she's back, your cat died. This sucks. And you lead it with going, I have terrible news for you. And then you tell her the news immediately. You don't go, hey, let's talk.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Hey, come to the house. When you talk about this? Nope. When she gets there, you say the following. I have really bad news for you. Fluffy died. And then you can do the rest. So good luck. That sucks.
Starting point is 00:15:24 That's a very sad story. It makes me sad to think about and talk about. Thanks for asking though. And don't adopt a cat super fast to replace the other one. That's what I'm good. Oh, you're adding that on that? Yeah, I'm going to say that. Give it a minute.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Don't ever adopt a dog or a cat after yours dies to immediately replace the other one. You need time to mourn if you love to dislike a human. I guess we don't adopt a new humans though, do we? Yeah, we do. One who dies, though. It's not like an uncle dies, you go adopt a new uncle. You don't really do that. You don't do it, but you could.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Is there an adopt an uncle problem? All right, there you go. Close it up. Here's Brittany from Ohio. Bobby was talking about how he wasn't feeling well, and he thought he had a stomach bug, but wasn't sure. And I wasn't sure if he knew, there is an E. coli outbreak with certain brands of organic
Starting point is 00:16:11 whole and baby carrots. That might be something he wants to look into. He might have E. coli. Love the show. Why would you say that? Oh, gee. Have you eaten carrots? That's a bad one.
Starting point is 00:16:21 I had the carrots. I have had carrots. Oh, no. Not only that. We give Ella, Ella loves carrots, our dog. Like, she'll take a carrot and keep it for two hours, like treasures it. And so we have a lot of carrots. My wife, like, puts this.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Is she sick too? I have Ebola. No, E. Oh, sorry. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, that is different. I got a little. It's an outbreak.
Starting point is 00:16:41 But the dates were like you had to buy on between this certain time. But I just went ahead and I had the brands. So I was like I'm just getting rid of them right now. Dude, it's scary when you see a recall and you have that brand. I'm texting my wife right now because I had a, it's, I'm still not all the way down with the stomach bug. And like let's make up our mind, guys. Is it a 24, 48 hour, 72 hours? Like I think people just say it depending on how sick they are.
Starting point is 00:17:03 I had the 68 hour stomach bug. That's a thing. Never heard of that. Or that's how long you had it. But I'm texting my wife. Did you see the E. coli outbreak carrot story? I don't know if there's a story.
Starting point is 00:17:16 I'm just trusting a listener here. There is. Yeah. Here are the symptoms. Severe stomach cramps. Boom. I've been there. Diarrhea.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Vomiting. Yep. Well, day one was, when I was up here, I was vomiting. Yeah. Yeah, the symptoms usually start three to four days after swallowing the carrot. I've swallowed carrots. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Whole carrot. Oh, man. Didn't even chew it. It's a whole thing. I probably just have a stomach, but thank you for that. but I am going to check. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance.
Starting point is 00:17:48 And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself
Starting point is 00:19:15 and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Daniel Jeremiah. And I'm Greg Rosenthal.
Starting point is 00:19:40 And this is 40s and free agents. The games may be over, but the NFL never stopped. This is my favorite part of the calendar. Yeah, mine too, Greg, free agency, the combine, the NFL draft Pro Days, trades. This is where teams reshape their future. This is where Daniel Jeremiah makes his money. On 40s and free agents, we break down every move that actually matters. From my draft evaluations, mock drafts, and team fits.
Starting point is 00:20:05 To my top 101 free agents and how real rosters are built, cap space, contracts and all the tough decisions included. You got quarterbacks on the move. We got teams rebuilding. It's hope season. Yeah, absolutely. It's hope season. We'll tell you what's real, what's noise,
Starting point is 00:20:21 and what it means for your favorite team. Smart analysis, real conversations every week. I don't know about the smart, but definitely analysis. Listen to 40s and free agents on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms. I'm Leanne. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:42 This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later. We're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast.
Starting point is 00:20:53 We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drink. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Well, they had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white claw or something here? Just take it.
Starting point is 00:21:06 What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. Come on. I would buy it. Cut through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You are. I'm not a killer. I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is Julian Edelman, host of games with names. On our latest episode, we got comedian, Blake Anderson from workaholics and The Hilarious. This is Important Podcast. Let's go. We did beat them in improv. You had an improv against the team? Yes.
Starting point is 00:21:54 We would pull up their schools would be there with signs for us. It's competition. What you would win is a bottle of gold slager. James Fester threw it out of a van because he didn't want us drinking it. For more games with names, visit the IHeart Radio app or wherever you get your podcast. Here's Amy's pile of stories. So apparently some psychologist is saying that if you already have your Christmas lights up, you're a self-absorbed narcissist. Agreed.
Starting point is 00:22:23 What? You don't agree with that. Yeah. Well, no, I just don't have mine up and I'm often called a self-absorbed narcissist. That's the only way I can go see. I'm not one. Got it. To be clear, they're saying it doesn't mean you have narcissistic personality disorder, which would be like you check a lot of the narcissistic traits.
Starting point is 00:22:39 This is just a trait. I would just say it is a look at me trait, especially way early. What? Look at me. I got all my fancy lights up. I'm Christmas before you are. Even if it's just like subconsciously. I don't think about that.
Starting point is 00:22:53 I don't get this at all. Like what is the joy of Christmas and wanting to spark it up early? It's not Christmas. And spark it up. Interesting term there, 420. All right. Not that, but I mean just like, you know. She in that season two guys?
Starting point is 00:23:06 Just as you know, light it up. Exactly. Wow. Light it up there. What word would you say? Bob Marley? What? Turn them on.
Starting point is 00:23:13 I would just say, put your lights up early for Christmas. It's fine. I love people do that. If it makes them happy, I don't care. If it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anybody, I don't care. But I do feel like there are some of our neighbors who went hard. Two weeks ago are mostly like, we want to be the first ones to have it up, so everybody sees we're the first ones to have it up. I think that's part of it.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Some of the neighbors went real hard. Really hard. But I also do that in different ways. So I'm not hating. I'm just stating. Well, so in addition to the whole narcissistic trait, decorating early may also. also, quote, fill a void making people feel happy when they otherwise wouldn't be. And you also are like, it's like having self-realizations about yourself right now.
Starting point is 00:23:50 You may be trying to portray that you're this picture perfect family when you're not. It's just Christmas lights, guys. Yeah, that I agree too. Like, we don't need to go eight layers deep. Yeah. Okay. Go ahead. Speaking of Christmas, Kit cats that are shaped like Santa Claus have hit the shelves for the
Starting point is 00:24:05 holidays. And this is the first time they've ever done anything other than their normal kick cat shape. And if we know anything from an awesome candy, putting things out in cute shapes like hearts and Santas and footballs, like with Reese's, the Reese's treasons, pumpkins and stuff, they taste so much better. And Kit Kat says these are even crispier and wafier, like the ratio is. But they're still chocolate, like milk chocolate. Because if they're doing white chocolate, like any benefit from them doing a Santa shape is lost in white chocolate. Like white chocolate is not as good as dark chocolate. It's a novelty.
Starting point is 00:24:39 If I happen to open up a white chocolate Hershey Kiss, because sometimes you get into the... You know, it's like 60% of the fun. Is it supposed to taste the same? No, it doesn't. It tastes different. Okay. Here are my ranks of chocolates.
Starting point is 00:24:51 Number one, milk chocolate. Number two, white chocolate. Number 899, dark chocolate kill me. Really? It's terrible. That far down. Yeah, that far down. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:04 Well, so check them out. They're in stores limited time only. And then I have some personal info, just reminders to keep off social media because the holidays are here. You may be traveling. And this is just stuff to keep in mind. USA Today did a whole article about it. And I think it's just a good reminder. Like if you have vacation plans, wait until after you get home to post about them.
Starting point is 00:25:22 That happened on Home Alone. They posted on TikTok. They were leaving and they got robbed. Home Alone 12. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Videos of you talking, like they're warning people of doing that, which what do you think that is related to?
Starting point is 00:25:36 AI. That's what they're doing. But they're not really doing it. But they are. Like a couple of people have done it. So they're like making stories going. If you put yourself talking on social media, they're going to steal your voice. What are the odds? Probably not good. I probably wouldn't listen to that one. Yeah. Your relationship status, like widows or widowers, they may be big targets. Or if you're recently divorced or single and you announce like, I'm alone in my home and no longer have a partner. It doesn't matter the holiday. Don't do a post of I'm alone in my home. Right. Expensive electronics that you may be selling, your walking, hiking and biking routes, your kids' school activities and where they go. Your social security number? Like, they're just getting weird with them. No, but I mean, the kids' school stuff could be a thing because like, then they know your kid's name. Then they can show up there and be like, hey. Who's they?
Starting point is 00:26:23 The killers, man. The killers, man. We're really paranoid. No, no, no, no. Most of these days are from like Zimbabwe or, you know, it's not Harry and Marr. Marr from home alone who are coming to your house. I'd say there was someone that wanted to abduct their child or kidnap. Like if they look at your account and know. They're going to do it anyway mostly. I don't know if they can find them. They're like, oh, the kids. I just want to get it done quicker.
Starting point is 00:26:45 That's what I'm going to do it. Like if you're going to do it, let's just go. Okay, that's the list. I'm sure that's a great list. We can post it. Stay safe out there. I just, it makes people extra paranoid if we're constantly talking about all the things that will go wrong if you do something that probably won't manifest itself into something
Starting point is 00:26:59 being wrong. So I want to avoid that super paranoia, but I also want to go like, look out. And it's a fine line. Well, the main part was because of the holidays and traveling. So that's the takeaway. The other ones were just extra. I would just say don't build a fire under the Christmas tree. That's safe.
Starting point is 00:27:13 That's my note of safety. This was to keep off social media. That is nothing to do with it. Well, I'm more of a realist. But a fire is real bad. It is. I'm Amy. That's my file.
Starting point is 00:27:23 That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news. With lunchbox. Stay home is something good. Chase Thompson is nine years old. he lives in Idaho. He's at home with his mom. And in the morning, his mom falls out of bed.
Starting point is 00:27:40 She's like, Chase, I need you to call 911. So Chase is looking everywhere for his mom's phone. And she's like, I can't find it. She must have left it at the store last night. So he needed to call 911. So he went and got the family's Alexa and told it to call. And it didn't work. So he's like, what am I going to do?
Starting point is 00:27:57 I don't have a phone. So he ran down to a neighbor's house banging on the door. Hey, my mom needs help. Call 911. call 911. Amblance came, she was having a stroke. Dang. I wouldn't trust that thing to call 911.
Starting point is 00:28:12 That's all I had. Yeah. And we were careful not to say, hey, Alexa, do the thing because we thought it might do the thing. Yeah. But I think if that's all you, and you're nine, that's all you have. Sure, sure. It doesn't even play the song I want most of the time.
Starting point is 00:28:26 That's a good point. And Lassie doesn't live around. Maybe you don't need to update yours. Mine's pretty... Also, the fact that she left her phone somewhere the night before, not good. We don't use one. Oh, you don't? I use it all the time.
Starting point is 00:28:37 No, no, no. I use my, too. Especially with Homer. I'm in a relationship with Siri. You know, it just gets, it gets dicey. Oh, I have, like, one of those things. One gets jealous to the other. And then multiple.
Starting point is 00:28:45 They're pulling hair. Relationships. Yeah, yeah. It's that season for you. You know, good for you. Good story. That's what it's all about. Good kid.
Starting point is 00:28:52 That was Tell Me Something Good. Lunchbox, you were with Bailey Zimmerman yesterday? Yeah, and we were talking about, like, I used to fill out the free applications for credit cards, so I get a free t-shirt. And so then Bailey told me told me. me the first time he got a credit card about the big mistake he made. J.C. Penny's one and only time I ever signed up. They're like, hey, you could save this and we'll give you this for free and you won't have to pay for that shirt today. And I'm like, oh,
Starting point is 00:29:19 well, what is it? And they're like, oh, it's just a credit card. And all you got to do is just sign up. Signed up, never paid for that shirt because it went on the credit card, which I didn't understand what a credit card was. And then I ended up paying like $217 for this $37.00. So I think we've all been there But it's funny to hear Bailey talk about it Listen, I love that kid I guess he's not a kid, he's a man He's a young, young man
Starting point is 00:29:42 But to us he's kind of a kid He's a kid and I knew him before he got like big Big when he just started being viral And like we talk And like he grew up very similar to how I did Like he's a good kid He gets kind of wild Which I would too have had all that fame
Starting point is 00:29:57 But he's 24 years old And just he's killing it right now Hit that All this, but we're called in between a right guess. You know what I'd tell him most? And it's not because he does this. And it's not because there's a reason for me to tell him. But I'm like, do not get anybody pregnant.
Starting point is 00:30:19 Oh. That's what I tell him. That's what I tell him the most. Like, dude, you're on the road. You're having fun. But do not get anybody pregnant. Like, that is something you won't be thinking about. And it'll affect every.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Like, that's it. That's the one. It's not like, hey man, work on your craft. Right. But you got to clarify, like get married. You love her. Oh, yeah, one day getting somebody pregnant. And I'm not even saying he's around doing that.
Starting point is 00:30:44 And like, hook. I'm not at all in any way. He may, I don't even know if he's dating anybody right now. I don't talk to him in a couple months, I guess. But that's the advice, like these young artists that all of a sudden have fame and money thrust onto them. Because with that comes girls. Sure. Clingers.
Starting point is 00:30:59 And it's like, do not get anybody pregnant. Even if I like, see him. He's like, what's up? I'm like, don't get any pregnant. The first thing you say. Do not get anybody pregnant because that'll set it all back. Oh, yeah. Love that kid.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Or could change. Okay, never mind. I don't know. I like to look at the gay and the bright side. But we don't need to be a bright side because there's no sad side. Don't get pregnant. He's not doing it first. And odds are if you don't know the girl and she gets pregnant, that ain't going to be good for life.
Starting point is 00:31:25 That ain't going to be good. Yeah. I think you can turn it into something good later whenever you. Yeah. If it does happen. No, no, no. You don't want that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:31 You just don't want there to be a bright side because that means there's a dark side. Right. You know what I mean? Yeah, anyway. The lottery has 438 winners because the pick four, or 4-4-44. Lunchbox, you play the lottery a lot. Do you ever play all the same number at anything ever?
Starting point is 00:31:48 No, never. Because if I miss it, then I'll be really upset. No, I'm talking about, do you ever play like 1-1-1-2-2? No, because I don't play those weird games like where you're going to get three balls. I only play the mega-millions and the power ball. That's it. It's not enough. The weird games?
Starting point is 00:32:03 Yeah, like it's like, you're too good for no. Five. I don't know how those work and they're confusing and I haven't looked into them. Maybe they're better odds. I don't know. They are much better odds. Really? Oh, yeah, because you're only playing three or four numbers instead of seven numbers. Right. I mean, mathematically, that's much better odds, but you don't win as much money if you win. So 4444 all hit a combined payout of $1 million. And so but 438 people won. Damn, that split it. So, uh, prizes like a few grand. Which is great. You also have to know if you're picking that 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 2, 2.2. A lot of people are probably doing that.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Yeah, it's crazy that the odds of it being 4. It would be 1 in 10 times 1 in 10 times 1 in 10 times 1 in 10. Oh. So that's a lot of times. No, no, no, no. Try to do that mouth in my head. Way next. Park visitors on a ride are stuck midair for two hours.
Starting point is 00:33:04 This is happening too often. man just got stuck. It looked terrible. More than 20 riders were suspended midair for hours after a Knott'sbury Farm ride. But I don't think they were hanging upside down though because that would be the tough one. That's good. It's better. Guests at the Southern
Starting point is 00:33:19 California theme park were stuck on the sole spin ride. They forced it to stop at 2 p.m. local time. The 22 riders were evacuated pretty close to 5 o'clock. It's one of those things that you like, how would you describe it? you like are on it and it's strapped over your chest and it lifts you up and it spins you yeah i've seen those at the carnival yeah kind of like spiders kind of yeah like if you were to draw a circle around
Starting point is 00:33:47 it it'd be like a like a carousel but lifted in the air kind of i don't know it's like like a windmill yeah that a windmill but but flat yeah okay okay not like an umbrella yeah we're really trying hard Well, it's not bad. But they were just held up there for hours. Yeah. Yeah, that sucks. I would worry if that were me up there, since it's broken, you know what else is going to break? That thing holding me.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Because it's also on a latch. Oh, I don't like that. Because it's not like a buckle. It's on like a shoulder thing comes over that's latched, that a button locks it. And I'll be worried, well, if that broke, oh, God, what is this break? I didn't think about that part. Because, like, when you're, when you buckle it yourself, you like, and you see it, and you're like, that's controlled.
Starting point is 00:34:31 But yeah, if it's a button. If something breaks, why wouldn't something else? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That would suck. It's time for the good news. With Bobby. Tell me something good. So this Tell Me Something Good is not a news story.
Starting point is 00:34:45 It's from me. It's not about my life. It's about something that could affect all of you guys. Oh. And it is a probably. Now, for a long time on this show, I've been anti-doing doing a cruise. Because I don't want to do a cruise because I can see something. I just don't want to do it.
Starting point is 00:35:04 Like I don't want to go on the boat and get seasick. And so you guys have been like, let's do a cruise for three years. I've been like, nope, don't want to do it. Don't want to do it. There's a really good shot that we, that because of some things that I have requested to help me in case I do get sick, that we could be doing a cruise. Let's go! Eddie, do you hear that? Let's go.
Starting point is 00:35:32 The waves are crashing. The ocean is calling. Nothing is official yet. Oh, man. We're going cruising. I will go places. I will go places or I will be on tour and they'll be like, well you, listeners I've been saying forever because you guys have made it such a big deal. Will you please do the cruise?
Starting point is 00:35:47 Oh my goodness. And I'm like, no. No. No. No. No. And I think that 75% chance. That's good.
Starting point is 00:35:58 We're headed the Malfi Coast. I don't know. We don't know where we're going. That seems far. It's really far. I'm not giving any details. There's no details. And no probably is because I don't want to like set an expectation that's not met.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Yeah, let's not do that. It's probably going to be landlocked. Yeah, we're not going on. That'd be called the car ride. We're going to go down to Mississippi. You just like get on a ship. That'd be called a road trip. But the tell me something good for the show is I was only saying no because I didn't
Starting point is 00:36:25 think there was a way for me to make it happen because I get so boat sick anytime. But I think we're going to be able to do. it not anytime in the next couple months or anything like that but soon we could be doing a bibone show cruise only because you guys have been asking for it i mean this and listeners have been asking for it tell me something good that's all i have actually is a tell me something great that's all yeah that's all i have for now okay everybody amy hasn't said anything amy you excited i have said a lot she was debating on car ride no i was going to start setting certain expectations and then bobby no expectations well that's that's ridiculous so i don't even know what that is i just see it on
Starting point is 00:37:01 What I've said is that sounds great and I'm going to wait for more details. Thank you. Thank you. I already got a picture to my head. Keep it in your head though. Okay. Yeah, not in your mouth. Out of your mouth.
Starting point is 00:37:10 All right. Thank you. That's what's all about. That was tell me something good. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr.
Starting point is 00:37:26 Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plan. a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money.
Starting point is 00:38:21 What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts to, many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app.

And we have been joined at the Hips since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider.
Starting point is 00:39:24 This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer? instead of beer. I had a bogo. Well, then you got it.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Do you want a white color or something here? Just take it. Oh, what are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. Come on. How did you believe?
Starting point is 00:39:44 I would buy it. Cutts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You are. I'm not a killer.
Starting point is 00:39:58 I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Daniel Jeremiah. And I'm Greg Rosenthal. And this is 40s and free agents. The games may be over, but the NFL never stopped.
Starting point is 00:40:23 This is my favorite part of the calendar. Yeah, mine too, Greg. Free agency, the combine. The NFL draft, Pro Days, trades. This is where teams reshape their future. This is where Daniel Jeremiah makes his money on 4. And priorities and free agents, we break down every move that actually matters. From my draft evaluations, mock drafts, and team fits.
Starting point is 00:40:41 To my top 101 free agents and how real rosters are built, cap space, contracts, and all the tough decisions included. You got quarterbacks on the move. We got teams rebuilding. It's hope season. Yeah, absolutely. It's hope season. We'll tell you what's real, what's noise, and what it means for your favorite team. This is Julian Edelman, host of games with names. On our latest episode, we got comedian Blake Anderson from Workaholics and The Hilarious This Is Important Podcast. Let's go. We did beat them in improv. You had an improv against the team? Yes.
Starting point is 00:41:27 We would pull up their schools would be there with signs for us. It's competition. What you would win is a bottle of golf. Goldschlager. James Fester threw it out of a van because he didn't want us drinking it. For more games with names, visit the IHeartRadial app or wherever you get your podcast. I was looking at pictures I was not able to go to the CMAs last night. Regrettfully, I've been sick the last few days even here on the show. So Amy, you look great. Thank you. Eddie looked great. Oh, thanks, man. Morgan, I saw your video where you're like,
Starting point is 00:41:57 I'm just a girl just kind of wet from a shower and I'm not going out. And you did your hand swipe, boom, and then she's like in her drug. You know, one of those things is good. And then you guys can help me because I only saw a picture. Was lunchbox in a hoodie? Yes. Confirmed. Yeah, like a sweatshirt hoodie. But it was a, it looked, it was nice.
Starting point is 00:42:16 I just saw the group picture, not just our show, but they did a picture of like everybody who won. And every single person's in a suit or like a really nice dress and lunchbox is in a hoodie. But I would, I'm not judging yet. We all love to judge on the show, but I would like to hold back for a second. What was that? What do you mean? It was an outfit.
Starting point is 00:42:37 It's called style. No one told me that I had to wear a suit. No one said there's a dress code. You've been to that many times. Justin Bieber goes to something. He wears a hoodie. People say, oh, fashion. I wear a hoodie.
Starting point is 00:42:49 And it's like the worst thing in the world. No, no, no, no. He's not judging you yet. I'm not asking you to be defensive. They are not jumping in because they've already all made fun of you behind your back. So I'm, but I'm talking. They made fun of me in my face. When I walked in, Morgan did a double thing and goes, are you wearing a hoodie?
Starting point is 00:43:07 Okay, hold on. It's just me and you're talking about. And then I'm going to, Eddie, says, are you going to change? And then Mike D's wife first thing she says to me, he goes, I see you got your nicest clothes out. And here's my thing. If I went up to Morgan and said, you look like crap. No, but Morgan was dressed appropriately for like what they say, you know, it's like whatever they can't, what the style of dress. It's like, black tie.
Starting point is 00:43:28 People are wearing suits. This is what I like to do. Everybody else, shut up. Yes, sir. Except for lunchbox night, because he's going to get mad at. you guys, and I'm not trying to talk to him like I'm upset or irritated. I don't, and see, here's the thing. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:43:38 No, no, let's take it down. Let's take it down half a notch. Just me and you talking. If I went up to a girl and said, why are you wearing that crap? I'm a jerk, right? But Morgan does it to me and it's, oh, cool. If I told her your dress she looks like trash, how would she feel? Well, I don't think, I liked your hoodie, by the way.
Starting point is 00:43:56 See, I, here's the thing. I don't give a crap. Hold on. I liked your hoodie. I did think that it was. a bit underdressed for the occasion, but I just wondered what your thought was. I thought it was a nice event.
Starting point is 00:44:11 It's a nice hoodie. It ain't some trash hoodie that I wear every day. I think some of my hoodies are nice you're wearing here. Red Clay Strays today. I love that man. I wore today because I saw them last night. There you go. So yeah, I thought it's no one said anything about a dress coat or what you're supposed to wear.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Just said, hey, we're going to the CMAs. I'm like, cool, man. This is a nice hoodie that is expensive. Gotta love you for being you. And I wore it and I wasn't worried about it. And not one person was like, oh my gosh, we can't let you in because you have a hoodie on. Cool. Great.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Yeah. Yeah. Great. I have said nothing to the fact of I'm upset or irritated. I just saw it and thought, is that real? Or it's like a fun picture he took after he changed out of his suit. Scuba. Everybody else, mouth shut, please.
Starting point is 00:45:02 Yeah, yeah. What's up? Scooby, you're the executive producer of this show. Yes. You know, of course, my name's on it, but like, you run this thing. No doubt about it. You're, well, as that guy, what were your thoughts? Well, I guess my first question would be, you get the CMA emails, right, Lunchbox?
Starting point is 00:45:15 They come through about to vote for this and here's information for this. Yeah, I got to. And I voted. Gotcha. So one of those emails, there's an important line here. It says attire and additional information. It says, the CMA Awards encouraged you to honor the tradition of country music's biggest night by dressing in black tie or formal attire.
Starting point is 00:45:32 I does say that. I didn't know that. I just see everybody else doing it every year. Well, yeah, and everyone else is doing it as well. I will say it was a really nice hoodie for him. It was more of an upgrade from what we normally see. So I could see in his eyes, he's like, well, I wore a really nice hoodie. This is like my black tie. And it, okay, fair enough.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Maybe he's toned up to the audience. Jelly roll wasn't in a suit. No one seemed to complain about that. And I wore sunglasses, so I kind of like didn't care a little bit myself. But I still wore like a suit and looked somewhat nice. But I just think maybe he doesn't understand in his world. He thinks that was awesome. That's on us then.
Starting point is 00:46:00 You know what? That's on me as the leader. to not go and say, hey, be sure to wear a suit. I mean, I got that hoodie from Nordstrom, not even Norseum rack. But also, I think, too, he wasn't sure he was going to make it as well because his wife was doing something. So I think he was like scrambling last second to put something together. They want his best hoodie. Okay, that's on me.
Starting point is 00:46:18 And I knew it matched because it's black and white, so I knew that it matched with black jeans. Wait, wait, what's on you? I don't understand. Well, when there's a mistake, if there's a mistake that happens with this show. Yeah. And it could, because even one of our executives reach out to me. saying was this a bit? Oh, the hoodie?
Starting point is 00:46:35 Yes. And I said not that I know of. Because I didn't. I didn't know what to say. He looked nice. Yes, for him. He had jeans that fit. Like, really, the jeans were nice.
Starting point is 00:46:51 The hoodie was, you could tell. He just bases things off of where he bought it and how sense of it is. Showing up to a funeral and a tank top and jorts. And you're like, well, I'm wearing clothes. Well, but that. I hear you. I hear you. It was still up level for him.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Yes. It is my fault. Because I will take and I will message that executive back. Listen, listen to our show. They only care about us when we get in trouble. Nobody cares. So I'll message the executive and be like, you know what? That's on me.
Starting point is 00:47:26 It was a bit. It was like, what was the nicest hoodie he could find to wear? And that's, we're good. That's on me. It is my fault. I thought you looked great. I thought you were a bit underdressed for this occasion, but that's on me for not explaining that everybody needed to wear what the email said in the official rules of black tie.
Starting point is 00:47:45 Yeah, I still, I mean, I'm looking through this email and I don't see that anywhere, man. But also, can I have one other thing? And I mean, it's because I feel this way about me too. You're not jelly roll or Justin Bieber. Oh, yeah. Oh, really? Yes, he is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:58 But here's a. thing. People, fashion is different for everybody. I agree. And so like for you to say, oh, you can't wear this or you can't wear that. I didn't say that. I'm saying that I look, think the hoodie looks great. It is my fault that I didn't express to everybody that you need to do what's traditionally done that you guys have seen for like, I don't know, eight or nine years in a row. Maybe longer. Yeah. And the bit that I suggested of lunchbox can you wear the nicest hoodie you can find was not the greatest idea for me to do that bit. link link i don't want him to get in trouble because i have a feeling that they're going to be like
Starting point is 00:48:32 you guys are disrespect you know these executives are so that's my everybody that was my bit i made it up okay it's bad taste man if you think that was bad he should hear he heard his speech he took over and did the speech at the uh awards in the hoodie in the hoodie front and center doing a speech do you have audio of it oh we got audio of it i don't play it yeah because i don't think i'm in the place to hear it well i don't i'm not the place hold everybody hold i'm on the question i have a question though. We can play in the next segment. I just, I don't, I need a break. Okay. So can I tell, like, when a woman says that to her, I'm like, well, why are you wearing a trash bag? Is that okay? It wasn't that you look bad. It was you were underdressed according to
Starting point is 00:49:11 the dress code. I mean, show me a dress code. I mean, I'm so going through my email. I'm still go through my email. But it doesn't matter. That's my fault. It's my fault. Please, everybody, thank you for remaining quiet during this segment. and it's my fault. Okay, that's all. I will play George Burge. This is Cowboy Songs. And then we'll come back and then we'll hear some stuff.
Starting point is 00:49:38 I don't know about the speech though. Mm-hmm. Do I want to hear? Yeah, it wasn't. Okay, all right. Totally terrible. All right, we'll be back. I would like to propose that we hold off on here in the speech
Starting point is 00:49:51 until the morning tomorrow show. Okay. Is that okay with you guys? Yeah. We live. Just because I, I know, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to space where I'm in a good mood. You already had to own the hoodie part.
Starting point is 00:50:00 I've been sick for a few days. I'm finally feeling okay. And I just wanted to do, I'd rather do it tomorrow. Okay. That's smart. Yeah, split it up. How, why did you guys let him do it though? Oh, well, you're the leader.
Starting point is 00:50:12 You were sick. Yes, and last time we did this, I gave the speech. So I felt like we should chair. But I was there last time. I think I was off. Yeah, but you had to be on red carpet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I, you were there.
Starting point is 00:50:24 But then I had to do it. And so then I feel like we should. share that. Okay. Official ruling from here. Okay. You are the leader. When I'm not around.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Okay. You do it. Oh, I still next to him. I know, but I'm just saying it generally. She was nice and the leader decided that I should do it. And maybe if the leader decides you should do it, that's great.
Starting point is 00:50:45 Yeah. Okay. Well, I didn't know. It wasn't official ruling. I know. This is the official. I'm having to be official now. I'm having to be official now.
Starting point is 00:50:57 I still think she'll be the leader, but if she'll be like, oh, we should lunchbox do it again because he crushed it. Okay. But if I'm not here, Amy is the leader. I mean, that's what I assume when we walked up there. I was like, oh, Amy's going to speak. No. Oh, lunchbox, okay. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:51:09 Yeah, it's like that. Okay, we'll do it tomorrow. No more. Because I'm in a push and play. Okay, okay. I do speak in the lunchbox. Chase Beckham apparently has inspired lunchbox to quit the lottery. Now, Chase Beckham, I, Chase has, do you have a song, Ray of Chases?
Starting point is 00:51:23 Like a clip we can play? I knew Chase from back in American Idol. I mentored him for weeks. and he didn't win in the show, which was crazy. Or second, I think he won. And he has a great song now that's called like, if I was 30, we'll play a clip. I got 23.
Starting point is 00:51:37 Yeah, that's what it is. 20, 30. Play it. And so this is Lunchbox, and you were talking about the lottery? Yeah, I asked me if he ever plays the lottery. Okay, here we go. So speaking of a fiancé, you know, you had to propose, you know, get down on the knee, say, oh, you marry me.
Starting point is 00:51:54 And, you know, you're kind of a musician now that has money. Did that mean the ring had to cost a lot more money? Because they say the rule online is like it's like three months paycheck is what you're supposed to pay on a ring. I mean, did you live up to that, Chase? I mean, I can't get her a million dollar ring. Oh, like that. You guys breaking news. Breaking news, Chase Beckham is rolling in the cash.
Starting point is 00:52:21 Yeah, man, no. I mean, this year I had a solo write number one. So that means no more lottery. I just need to write a song. Oh, that's where the lottery comes in. I didn't know where this was going. Yes. Because he said all he did is write a song and he got millions of dollars.
Starting point is 00:52:36 Do it? Solo, right? Then this is what? Yeah, he said solo right. Well, that's being specific because he doesn't, he didn't have to split it with another writer. Three ways. But that's what he said. He goes, I couldn't buy that big of a ring.
Starting point is 00:52:48 And I'm like, I did not realize if you write a song, you get that big of a check. I think for a number one, depending on the amount of weeks, it's probably like a million bucks. Like generally speaking. If it's taxes, though. Hold on on. If it's number one for one week, you get a million dollars. No, it's not about the one week. It's number one.
Starting point is 00:53:04 It's about the many weeks that stays on the chart climbing up. And then once it hits number one, it's being played so many times. It gets all that in. If you're like a top five, it's close to that. Oh.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Top 10 a little less because it takes a long time to climb up. You don't like that? What I will do. Let me ask one of my friends how much a number one is worth. Okay, hold on a second. If you, I guess too, yeah,
Starting point is 00:53:23 if you wrote it and he's saying it, because then you're not sharing it. Right? It's a different royalty. Cool. Completely. Okay, hold on. Also, he gets money for writing and royalty?
Starting point is 00:53:31 Well, no, no, no. Okay, never. Or for singing? I don't know. Hey, man. A question, and I'm not going to say it's you that told me, but we're talking about a number one song. What is generally speaking,
Starting point is 00:53:42 let's say it takes 35 to 40 weeks to be a number one. What is a number one song all in, if it's a solo right? What will that pay total? All right, thanks. I get an answer. I just thought it was interesting. I was like, man, so I...
Starting point is 00:53:57 Now you want to write a song? I'm like, why don't I just write the song then? That seems like a better option than the lottery, right? Yeah. Here is, I love a good exercise. Today is November 21st. So we'll have this month and then we'll have December and December. Obviously, we'll be here for a few of the weeks.
Starting point is 00:54:12 We'll be gone for Christmas. When we come back, that could be like January 5th or 6th or 4th, I don't know. Have that song for us. You have two months to write a song. One song. And if it's good, I'll get somebody good to record it. Wow. Okay, yeah, because that will make all the difference in the world.
Starting point is 00:54:27 Of course. Yeah. I mean, he's not going to sing it. There's no chance. You'll sing it in here. Yeah. But you can't, if you ride it with anybody, you lose money. Oh, so I got to write a solo. That's what he just said.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Yeah. You know you kind of have to have a melody too, like with it. Don't you worry about me. Okay. So write a song. Yeah, and then I could have Abby sing it? You wouldn't do that because you're mean to have it. Yeah, you're right because I wanted to go number one.
Starting point is 00:54:50 But, but. How do you do that? He like sets himself up for his own jokes. If it's good, I can probably have somebody produce it that does number one. song, they'll probably get someone to sing it. So verse, chorus, vert, like how long is the song? However he wants. Yeah, I would say it needs to at least be like two and a half minutes
Starting point is 00:55:07 on the short side. Okay. All right. And no stairway to heaven, no like 13 minutes. No guitar solos? None. But you have to write it. I'll write it. Okay, here we go. This would be amazing. I just got a message back. Here we go. Come on. I'd say a solo right.
Starting point is 00:55:22 He says lots of variables would be about half a million dollars. A solo right. Lots of variables, though, so it can't be more. It can be less. This person has like 40 number one songs that I'm messaged. That's like half a million. That's still worth it. It's worth it.
Starting point is 00:55:38 But then Chase sang his too, so he would get more money on top of that. Okay. Then one talks, Lobby said there's lots of variables. It could be higher. It could be higher. You can even sing it. And then what if it stays at number one for multiple weeks? No, it doesn't do that.
Starting point is 00:55:53 It could. Sometimes. That doesn't do that. It doesn't do that. Hey, it does sometimes. It's on like the Hot 100. 17 weeks in a row, number one. It's exactly right.
Starting point is 00:56:02 17 weeks. So maybe I'll go Hot 100 instead of country. It don't need to be country, but if it gets so big here, then that's like Morgan Wallin songs. They're so big country. He has the crossover vibe. You have that energy. Nobody has more crossover appeal than this guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:17 I agree. So January, when we come back. Yeah. Have a song. Have the song. Okay. And I'm assuming you're going to sing it acapella? Yeah, that's what I sing it.
Starting point is 00:56:27 I mean. A guitar player? You could write it, then have a player play it with. you, they just can't write it with you. Yeah. I don't want to hire someone. No, no, no, I'll do it for you, but you don't have to pay me, but you got to tell me how to avoid that.
Starting point is 00:56:37 I don't want to, yeah, because there's going to be fights. So if you want to get somebody else to do it. No, no, no, they'll be fights and stuff. Oh, no, no, they'll be fights in general. Stasheera, my daughter, she's been learning guitar. Don't sit here. Oh, I'm just saying. If he wants to find a guitar player, there's.
Starting point is 00:56:48 I don't want a guitar player. Okay. So he's going to do an alchapella? It's going to stand on its own. Yeah. I love it. Can't wait. Do you know who doesn't have guitar players?
Starting point is 00:56:57 Penitonics. That's right. What? They do it with all their mouth. That was I was doing. Then someone else was supposed to pick up another beat. Are you going to help him with a theme or like a... No, because that would be writing, that would be the creative process.
Starting point is 00:57:12 I don't need help writing it. He doesn't need help. Cool. All right, we're good. Good luck. He's got a couple of months. What if it is, though? What if this changes his life?
Starting point is 00:57:21 I mean, that's what it could be amazing. It could be amazing. Okay. And that is the end of the first half of the podcast. This is Julian Edelman, host of games with names.
