Where should I start? Hey, do you want to do a throwback Thursday to start this? Mike worked pretty hard on this, and so we didn't get to it on the show today, but I'd like to do some throwback Thursday. This is major events of country music that happened on this day. Where the heck is today? The 20th.

Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah. Is it COVID? Is it we're getting older, or is it just normal? We don't know. I don't know, man, but I feel like every day it's like, what day is it? What are we doing tomorrow?

Major events and country music that happened on this day. Today in 1986, Reba McIntyre became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, which, by the way, check out the Bobbycast with Reba. We did an hour, and she talks about the opera and the first time she even went when Dolly Parton walked through. And you just assumed that they came up together. Yeah. They didn't.

Dolly was already a massive star, and Reba was very intimidated by her. But go back and scroll back on the Bobbycast to find that episode. Today in 1990, Reba's first movie, Tremors, debuted with Kevin Bacon in a leading role. Do you guys watch tremors? Mm-mm. You? No. Yeah.

Today in 1995, Shania Twain released, Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? Here's the hook. Whose bed have your boots been under? Never heard of it. Just like tremors. Well, what's funny is, you know, looking back, when we first started doing this show, what, 2013?

Yeah, here, yeah. Yeah? Here, yeah. Yeah. It was a bit of a controversial theme because we were working at a pop station in Austin, and then we moved here. But I grew up listening, obsessing, learning about country music.

Like, country music was a big part of me, more than pop music was, honestly. And so we came, and the show started to be a success, and you're going to see where I'm going with this. But then they started to try to mimic our show, they would take other people from pop stations and put them on country station and be like, well, if this bobby show's working, we should do other.

Well, the problem was they had no country music background. like me, my background was fully in country music. I tried to get a job at a country station. They said no, so I went to a pop station. And so I had an actual history in learning, loving, consuming country music. And so I remember hearing a country show, and I won't say where, and they were talking about Shania Twain. And they were playing one of her hits, and they were like, oh, this is that bed, your boots, they didn't know how to say it right.

And I was like, oh, you can tell they pull them out of another format. and they know nothing about country music. And so they had to kind of learn on the fly. But I remember hearing them talk about a Shania Twain song and not really, you could tell they didn't know. It may have been this song, Who's Bad If Your Boots Man Under? That's like, they have no clue what they're talking about here.

Now, we do that all the time with news. Yeah. Where we're just like winging it. But there was a brief period of about three to four years where they were putting on shows everywhere going, let's just take him out of pop. But you would hear him struggle with like the country music basics. All right, that's shit, shit.

He was falling on the rope. And he thought no one was going to show up. Okay, yeah. That's not true. Okay. He does say that.

I know. He said he was a number. his hotel room and the hotel looked over Central Park and he said I kept all the blinds clothes and then finally I was like Trisha I'm worried no one's going to show up she said... Garth has a flare for the dramatic and then he said I opened up the curtain and oh my gosh there's a sea

of people. That's what he said. On this day in 2000 artist the decade was named for the 90s was Garth Brooks. And then finally today in 2013 George Strait launched the Cowboy Rides Away Tour his last official concert as Trek in Lubbock was the final show

which by the way he's playing again at ACL. Yeah, he keeps riding away. He rode back in. That horse comes back in a town. He keeps riding around in circles. Or it just keeps going. He played out her country festival. Thank goodness.

He's probably like, this dang horse won't stop. He's trying to get it to stop. And buddy, come on. So, yeah, that was throwback Thursday. Speaking of country and western, Amy's daughter's theme for her dance we've been talking about so much is Western. Yeah, we got an email that, yeah, it's country Western theme. So my daughter's looking at Western-type dresses.

and you know, you got her boots a few years ago and she's like, where are those cowboy boots that Bobby got me? I loved them. And I'm like, you outgrewed them. Like, that was four years ago. Kids grow. So, but she wants that exact pair. And I'm like, okay.

I think Bobby got those like literally in Colorado from the boot place. Like you went to a boot factory or something? Yeah. We both did, right? No, it was just you. Mike, you went? Yeah. Yeah, so I don't know.

I knew one of you Hispanic fellows with me. Thank you. Yeah. I don't know where to find those. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And one of you is always with me. Whenever I go, it's one of you, too. Are you going to get her new boots?

Yeah, we're looking, especially, yeah, because she'll want to wear them more than just to this dance. Like she said that that was one of her favorite pairs of shoes ever. Do you have to dress up? Oh, yeah, I'm going. Like, I'm channeling Yellowstone all the way. I can't wait to pick out my outfit. Yellowstone, the old one, or the new one?

18. 18. She pulls off in the covered wagon. No, but like, I don't know. That's funny. Something Western. If I go. We don't know yet.

Okay. Y'all basically told me not to go. No, we haven't. We said that you're reaching out going, I want to chaperone this. I don't know if you need it, but I want to be there. I don't know why you say that so aggressively, because it's not, that wasn't the intent. It was more like, hey, saw there's a dance. If y'all are looking for chaperones, would love to be there.

Not, hey. Every time you say it, you say it. It's the fact that you said would love to be there. Like, why would you love to be there? Love to help out. No, I like to help. Come on. be there more than help. You know me. Help her, helper. Okay. But you may work in the parking lot.

Maybe. I saw they need people to escort. Make up garbage. No. They do need snacks, though. I saw they need to volunteer for snacks, but that doesn't require you to stay. You just drop them off or you donate money. Does she wear makeup? She put on lipstick the other night and said... On the cat, too, right? Yeah, she put it on the cat as well. I was like, oh my gosh. But she did tell me she mixed three different colors to achieve the look that she got and that she was testing out for the dance. And how do you feel about her wearing makeup? I guess fine because she's 14 and she doesn't really wear it all the time. But I mean, I remember when I was in junior high eighth grade, I didn't really know what I was doing because my mom didn't sit down with me.

But I definitely had friends that wore full blown all the makeup, the everything. So I guess it just depends. But that's when I started putting on a little mascara, a little lipstick. and so I guess I'm okay with it I just have to be there's nothing wrong with it if she wants to wear lipstick to the dance I'm gonna let her

like it's just weird because she's never done it but here we are first dance first lipstick I feel like if she wants to dance with a boy she's not really gonna do it in front of you

she told me she would she even told me last night we were coming home from youth group and she was like oh I was thinking about asking so and so to go to the dance with me but he doesn't go to her school and she goes and I just found out

no outsiders are allowed. Oh, well, good for her then. I know that I wouldn't want you to see me dance with the boy. Okay. So maybe she has the same feeling. All right, maybe. And when is it in the month? Amy, do you talk to her about, like, dance etiquette?

Like, no, they ask you. Do you need me to go? Or yeah, have you practiced? And she danced with her brother or? I mean, she's dancing with her dad. Oh, okay. Okay, that's good. Well, that's different, though.

Father or daughter? Like if they start to play. You know. I swear. No, slow dances would be easy. Okay. I've danced with her in the kitchen. I would say, what if they're playing, I got my pizza?

And they're all grinding on each other. Oh, you know what song she likes is like, I don't know. Something like, watch me twerk or I don't know. Oh, my gosh. I know. She's not going to do that at the dances. Well, that's the question. What if they're twerking on each other?

Well, I'm glad it's Western theme and they're playing all country songs. That would be terrible. Well, to go to a dance. Well, what if it's all honky don't? Well, it's all country Western. Like from the 50s and 60s. The email did say, get ready for a boot scoot in time. I bet they play a little bit.

If I were a 14 year old kid and they were just playing all country music, I wouldn't like that. Okay. They opened up with Save a Horse, write a Cowboy. Oh my. They did have to say in the email in like bold, like no guns. What? It's part of your Westernware. Oh, fake guns.

Maybe because it did say Westernware. So maybe some people assume, oh, Western I can go all out and bring like a, but obviously. no guns. Take a brand. A what? A brand of cattle? Yeah, I don't know. So, anyway.

Is that on a weeknight or a weekend? Saturday night. Tonight y'all are at the Opry. Otherwise, we'd come to the Opry. Otherwise, we'd come to the opera. Oh, yeah, we'd all show up the dance. We'd all show up. We all come as, like, watching over.

When Caitlin and I went to our soccer game, that's what we did. I'd be like, Star Shira. That's so embarrassing. She would be like, stop. Yeah. Stop doing that. And I was like, no, I will never stop.

Cybercriminals are trying to steal financial information from American. through the QR codes that restaurants and businesses have turned to during the pandemic. The scammers are using fraudulent codes and putting them in places so you scan them and they can get inside your stuff.

Yep. Like how do you know who to trust now? There's codes everywhere. The announcement follows the discovery earlier this month that fraudulent QR code stickers on more than two dozen parking stations in Austin, Texas. Yes, remember I was telling you about that. The FBI wants people to check the websites that QR codes direct them too carefully because what happens is you go to the site and then it's like, here we are, where the site you look for, and then you do and they have you. You want to hear something funny?

Yeah, I do. We were in Vegas. When we were in Vegas, lunchbox, we added a restaurant and he saw the QR code. And it was one of those restaurants you had to get the QR code. And he's struggling. He thought you had to take a picture of the QR code. I think that's normal, though. I do think that's normal.

I struggle. Parents and grandfaws, right? But I would say everyone did that at the beginning of the pandemic when he started to really be needed. Oh, yeah. I was overwhelmed. I sat down to eat and I was like, Give me a menu. And they were like, well, here, it's right here in the middle of the table.

I'm like, no, can I get a menu? Because something about the whole process was overwhelming to me. I would like to have COVID. So please. Well, I just felt it was uncomfortable. This happened to me. You were taking pictures of it? No.

Yes, at the very first of the QR code, I didn't understand. I took a picture of it. Yeah. That's been a couple years. Right. We've been dealing with this for a while. Lunchbox, anything you want to say about this? Yeah, no, I put my camera up to it, and it wasn't.

reading it, so I thought, okay, maybe they have a different. So I took a picture. I mean, it wasn't registering. And I guess the Wi-Fi or whatever just wasn't good in the place, and that's why. So then he did video. He video did it. Just in case. Yeah. And so I was pretty awesome. And I was the first one there. And I was trying to get it pulled up and it wasn't working. So I thought, why not try to take a picture? Maybe that'll work. I mean, I'm not ashamed. I know how to do a QR code. I'm not good with technology overall, but that wasn't my fault. That was their QR code, not scanning. I'm not hating.

Just for the record. Yeah, no hate here. It's Eddie Hayton. I mean, we laughed. It's all right. It's always Eddie. Did you see, speaking of COVID the folk singer who got COVID on purpose? Oh, that's bad.

And then she died. Why did she get it on purpose? Well, you were saying it. To get it over with, I know, but did she? And like build up her immunity, right? Yeah. She didn't want to get vaccinated and thought that would be the better way to do it. I wasn't trying to get it on purpose, Eddie.

That was Ray. Oh, Ray. That's right. I was just saying if we're going to get it in like my, you know, if I get it, I feel like my body would handle it, but it's true. You don't know how your body's going to handle it till you get it. You're also vaccinated. Yes.

Ray's, are you vaccinated Ray? Yeah, double vaxed. I'm trying to get that booster. Double vac. It's not hard to get it. You just go to Walgreens. Yeah, you go anywhere to get a booster. Perfect.

You stop at the gas station and be like, hey, Chuck, we got back there. You pop me real quick. Very available. Yeah, I wouldn't do that, though, gas station? I've done worse. I've had sushi at a gas station before. I got really sick. Exactly.

Yeah, I got really sick from that. We've been asked for a National Anthem update from Abby, our phone screener. Abby, are you there? Okay. Sometimes she's answering phones. I know. Hey, have you sang the National Anthem and sent it over to our station in Virginia? I haven't.

I haven't. Yeah, I don't know. You need to do this, Ab. I know. I thought you had done it because I saw in a video you were in a recording studio. Oh, no, that wasn't related to that. I should have done it then. Oh, I had the perfect chance.

Is she dropping an album? Why are you in a recording studio? Oh, I can say. Oh my gosh, okay. Ray texted me. Ray gave her, okay, go ahead. Yeah, it was Ray. He texted me in the middle of the afternoon.

He's like, hey, you want to be on a song? And I was like, what? Yeah, I do. And so I went to the studio and I recorded. Is it like vacation part two or something? Yep. You want to talk about it? I don't know how much he wants to say, so.

Yeah, vacation part two. I would love to have a vacation part too. A bay, bay, bay, vacation. Yeah. Ray, what's up with vacation part two? Yeah, we're still dubbing it down, making it perfect, and then I'll have the audio. And if you guys would be bless us with playing it on the radio, that'd be epic.

yeah so I'm reading that it's called going there and making my way through it at night. It's my bedtime read. And I'm really enjoying it. I'm about halfway. And I feel like she's just like the fact that she was on the Today Show, I mean, that's what we know her as, this big time news person. And when she started out, like she's just like journalism, started in the small news markets. Like actually some of her first live hits, like she was told by some higher odds of the news station, like get this girl off TV, you should not be doing this in a way. And she just kept going and she kept going next right step you know little markets then moved to

florida then to dc then she started doing little hits for the today show and then they their morning show slot opened and she got to fill in and it just kind of started to happen for her so i love that you know she didn't let anybody's opinion of her get her down and then i just got to a part i don't know where else it's going to go but she had a nanny because obviously she worked mornings and it's very demanding schedule so would need someone there helping her at all times when she had kids. And this woman came into her life and had nannied for other famous people. So I think they thought, okay, we're good. Like her resume is solid. This is nice. Then the nanny was like, hey, I can be available seven days a week. Like, I'll move in. I can be around on weekends. I don't need to just do Monday through Friday.

And she's like, well, I guess that could be helpful. And we'll just make you part of her family. She's like, yeah, I don't really have a family. So this would be cool for me. And then things got weird where Katie would be going to bed at night and then nanny would be like, hey Katie, can I have a hug before bed? Like I need a hug. And this is before Katie really was like, I don't think the person was stalking Katie, like she, because Katie blew up during this time. And then Katie's like, I guess I should give her a hug. So she's like, crossed that boundary and started giving her hugs. And then the next night, Katie thought, I'm just going to go to my bed real quick. Maybe it won't happen. And then she was like, Katie, you forgot to give me my hug. And then she came out.

and gave her the hug. And then it just started to get really inappropriate. Can I breastfeed off you? So I guess Katie's husband lived in a different, he still had his job in another city, so they were like weekend, had a weekend relationship. And then finally he quit that firm

and went to work for a law firm in New York. So he moved back home for seven days a week. Nanny got jealous. Because he was around all the time. And he started to like sabotage their marriage and would tell him things and then tell Katie things to cause like fight. The guy? It was a male nanny?

Is a mannie? Sorry, she, the nanny. The female nanny would tell her husband things and then tell Katie something else and it would cause fights. And they real, like, it just got so bizarre. And then eventually, like, she fired her. And then she, like, did things, like, went to the tabloids and made up stories and, like, even told there was a time where Billy Joel, she had rented his beach house once. And I guess he Airbnb did it before Airbnb was a thing. But he left all.

So once she found out it was Billy Joel's house, I think that's who it was. She like, they started taking some funny pictures around the house, her and the nanny. Because she's with her nanny. It's her safe person. Like she felt fine. Her kids are there. They're having a good time. No one's ever going to see these pictures.

Well, the nanny after she got fired, she mailed the pictures to Billy Joel and said, here's what Katie Kirk was doing in your home? And Katie Kirk ran into Billy Joel once. And he's like, oh, heard you have fun at my house. And Katie was like, what are you talking about? And he's like, yeah, whatever Doris or whatever name was, sent me photos. What were they doing? Psychotic.

What were they doing in the house? You know, like laying in bed, smoking a cigarette, like acting like, I don't know, just doing funny things around the house. Like I'm in Billy. And just things you would never want. I was thinking of it. Peeing on his piano. Like Bobby, like famous people have offered you their beach house before.

Like if you were just like, oh, hey, I'm in, you know, not that it was Tim McGrawl, but say, I'm in Timmergall's bed, like taking a picture. I'm dressed like a Native American. Look, Indian outlaw. Yes. And then later you fire your nanny and they mail Tim McGraw all the photos. Like how, anyway, it's good. It's a good book. But I'm only, again, I'm only halfway. So we'll see. She is giving me hope. Like, I go to, I go to sleep. I don't know. Like, I have dreams and visions. Like, I go to bed and I'm like, I can.

You're doing it. Yeah, but I mean, there's, I don't know. There's just something about, like, she doesn't, she didn't give up. She just keeps going. You haven't given up. Yeah, Amy. But wasn't she mean to her co-workers? Like she wouldn't help them because she was worried that they were going to take her job and stuff? I haven't gotten to that part yet. Spoiler. I don't know.

Did she write about that? I haven't gotten to the Matt Lauer part, which I'm waiting for. Can't wait for that. She does say about working with Brian Gumble, though. Yikes. He wasn't a real peach. I mean, is he still alive? Yeah.

Okay. I think so. All the Gumbulls are. Gumbull and Gumbull. Yeah. I mean, I'm sure he's. Greg and Brian. Yeah.

He's 73. I'm sure he's great. I'm sure he's a nice guy. But also you got to think it's the perception of the person too that's working with them. I agree. And it's also communication styles. Like again, I think some people think I can communicate and be quite cold. Some people say direct. Some people say honest. It just depends on who you're talking to. Like I'll be like, need this to undecta. Well, wow. He said six words. Some people are like, hey, I just like it that he says it. And I know exactly what I need to do. So I don't know Brian Gumble. I don't know what depending on so hard. I'm just saying. I'm just saying, well, wow. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just what she said in the book. It seemed like she respects him as well. I just know artists that get a bad rap for being like real dicks or duches. Oh. But it's not because they're mean.

It's because their communication style is just way different. And some of them are like... Their social skills are off too. Yes. As are mine sometimes. Most times. Yeah.
