Oh, and she was over yesterday. Was that what it was? Mm-hmm. Doing what? She recorded my podcast and we recorded women of I Heart Country.

Karen Fairchild is in Little Big Town. Amy has all the cool celebs coming over. That's awesome. How do you approach her to come to your house? I don't, well. Did you ask her on Instagram? Kimberly came over too. Yeah, but how do you make that happen?

I don't, it's not necessarily me, but I guess they're willing. Obviously, I throw out either Zoom, whatever's most comfortable. or easiest for them. Studio, Zoom, or swing by the house. And I guess they choose the house if they want to. So that's cool. Do you DM them or how does that happen? I don't understand. No. I mean, I guess with Women of I Heart Country, it's a little bit different. For my podcast, yeah, I just reach out to them, but not on DM. I guess there's like email or I don't know. I think I was after Kimberly came on, Karen maybe made some comment. And I was like, can't wait to have you on too. Because people loved, people love the Kimberly one.

So I don't know how it seems to happen, but it was awesome. And she, you know how we always talk about how they're the nicest humans in the world. And of course, they are super cool. Yeah, they're super cool.

Yesterday went and play basketball, Travis Denning's going to be on tomorrow show. And I'll probably bring this up on the regular show too, but I went, and he was shooting a little thing with some friends. He's called,

it's called Travis Denning and Friends do stuff. So Travis and I are pretty close off the air. I'd say buds, not friend friends. I think I'm a little too old to be like a friend friend because he's in his 20s I think. We play golf together and done some stuff. But I say, hey, will you come shoot this?

And I ate something bad the night before just crushing me. I was so nauseous. I knew it wasn't COVID because I just got COVID tested and got the negative. And I was like, fine, I'm going to go because he had a whole crew there to shoot it. And I get there and it's me.

And it was basketball. So I dressed up head to toe Arkansas gear. I had the razor back jersey on the shorts. I saw that picture. Yeah. And so it was me. Travis, and he has that song, After a few drinks, it's always,

Adam Hamburg, the writer, who's written a couple number ones, also an artist, and then two guys from Lanko, the lead singer, Brandon. And then Tripp, who's in the band too. And I'm telling you, those Lanko guys play ball.

Really? They play all the time. I mean, they were just shooting lights out. But we went yesterday, and they're not tall guys, they're little guys, they're kind of squirts, but they were just dominating horse.

Because I was like, oh, you guys play, we'd come over to the house, we have big games, and they started playing, I was like, I'm never inviting you guys. Yeah. Like Matt Stel's not invited anymore, right? I beat Matt Stel, so I'm okay with that.

If we were playing like real games, Matt Stel's 6-6. Dominate. And he dominates. But how we play, you know, we shoot. But those guys were good. So I did that yesterday. I dealt with some dog stuff that you may have heard on the show today. But what did you do yesterday?

Oh, my dad moved in. Oh, yeah. Did you have everything set for that? Or is it like when you move into college and you think you have everything, but then you have a bunch of stuff you've got to run to Walmart for it real quick. I mean, it was probably a little bit of that. We took a Monday and Tuesday to get set up. Like at first we thought he could move in on Monday and then we were like, no way.

And then we thought Tuesday and then we were like, no way. But then Wednesday, we couldn't leave him hanging any longer because he'd been in the hospital. He was ready to go. He was calling like every day, like come pick me up, get me out of here. So I was like, we just got to go get him. So I went and picked him up at noon and then brought him home. And yeah, we're still figuring some stuff out, you know, even this. Just making sure we have everything just right.

Which I'm still, even this morning, was learning some stuff. I was like, oh, and I didn't think about that. We have a new intro for this. Ray has been working on this for like five days. For the post show? Yeah. Yeah. So let's hear it now.

Thank you for. But we got a lot to talk about on the show. Yeah, that's it. That's perfect. It took us like five, but that's it. That's a jam. I was reading some of the B-Team Facebook page, which I can really get some really constructive stuff there.

And they were like, is Bobby just messing with Ray, trying to get him to cut a new intro every day? It wasn't. We were just finding our vibe. Right, and I told Steve, I'm just going to throw out crap at him right away and have him turn it down, and then we'll keep improving it.

You don't have to do your best thing at first. I don't agree with that. That's interesting technique. Because you could be working on something else. So give them crap five times. Steve's like, that wasn't my method. That's on me. So when I said we have one that was, you know, anyways.

Well, my thing was sometimes the morning corny, the dumbest stuff ends up working. So that was throwing something dumb maybe at you. Maybe not the least amount of time that I put something effort into something. The morning corny is not dumb. Do you remember, hey, Rod is here, our boss. Can you hear us, Rod, do you have headphones on? He's hanging. I don't know why he's hanging out, but he's down here in this part of the building, so we'll use them.

Remember way back in the day and I was like, hey, Hey, I got this segment called the Morning Corny. It's going to be funny. And you were like, well, that's not, that's dumb. Wait, did I say it was dumb? Yeah, yeah, you were not a believer. I don't think I said it was dumb. Are you trying to get me in this goofy camera?

Well, yeah, the camera just needs to see you. I mean, it's part of the show. Now, what do you think about the Morning Corny? Morning Corny's great, but let's go back. I don't think I said it was bad. I'm like, mm-hmm. So what are you going to do with it? Because the name is Corny.

It is what it is. Yeah. Corny's corny. And I was like people don't like the small corny joke. I think what you're remembering is some other people hit me with feedback because they didn't get it. And I was like, eh, not everybody's catching that right away. That's what I recall. It's supposed to be corny.

Yeah. And then, yeah, I don't know. We have a little revisionist history, I think, one of the two of us. Possibly me, but probably you. The truth is in the middle, let's hope. Probably somewhere. Or you're right, and I'm wrong. Another thing is, I was, and I'm glad you're here, because Mike D and I had a talk this morning, where, you know, we'll really find something that works and then just sit on it for a while until it starts to not work again.

we'll kind of get away from it. But about once a day, we'll play some sort of fun game, music game, something to do. And I was reading through the B-Team page yesterday, and I'm like, hey, maybe we've done, we've been a little too game happy. And I thought, you know, maybe they're on to something, because those guys listen every day. Do you think a game a day over five hours is too much? Do you think we're playing too many games? No, no, no, it's not too many games. People like to play along. We know that. And by the way, we love the B-team. Keep in mind, the B-team here's it five times more frequently than the C-team.

What's the C team? Is that Caitlin's team? Yes, yes. Caitlin's team is... So, ask, because I told Mike, I said, hey, why don't we peel back a little bit on games? Because Mike writes 99.9% of the games. Yeah.

What is your take as the big boss? You're asking once a day? Once a day is easy. That's easy. Do we play about one a day, right? Occasionally, if there's some sort of benchmark that games out, we'll do something two and a half hours later. Just what is your radio guy version of this?

What should we do? The other guy version is because it's different, it's not, you know, it's not Battle of the Sexes every day. Yeah. Because they're different, I think it's good. Once a day is easy. Battle of the Sexes, though, huh? Hmm. That gets been around for 20 years. Oh, 30.

Yeah. Okay. Truth be told. Anything else you like to say? No, I'm good, man. Where are we doing well that we like to shout out? And where do we want to shout out that maybe we could do a little work? Wow, you want to do that here?

Why not? Wow. Listen, I don't believe it's so much an in-studio thing either way. I think when we do well in a place, well, I probably shouldn't say that. Let me just say this about what we're doing well. When we do well somewhere, I credit the local team because without them pumping us throughout the day, without them building the show and making sure we're on and off the satellite the right time, like that's how we win is like our local teams. So where are we doing well? We're doing well in Nashville.

We're doing fantastic in Washington, D.C. We're doing great in St. Louis. In fact, St. Louis has been on Hot Street for a couple years. We are doing great in San Antonio, one of our newer markets. How about where we're super brand new Portland, Oregon? Portland's great. It's one of the best launches, absolutely. That's less than a year old.

So in radio terms, that's like an infant. Yeah. Yes. Okay. We like that. And so shout out to all those guys for doing this show right. What about in the middle-sized markets? Where are we doing well?

Here's what we should talk about. We should talk about one market, Austin, Texas. Okay, why? Driving us crazy. You're obviously the most popular show in town. The ratings would indicate not. It's very frustrating. But that's just a rate rate.

ratings go up and down. Yeah, sometimes we're King Dingling. And then it's like Tampa. We cry. We're the bell of the ball in Tampa one month and the next week it's like nobody's ever heard of us. Yeah, Tampa will drive me crazy. It was a great year, 2020 in Tampa.

the last couple of months has been like what the heck's going on. But Austin is way stranger. We can't even figure it out. The ratings are so bizarre. Get all the Austinites going. Let's go. How bizarre. Hey, we can't, listen, we come in, we do this.

And then when you decide we don't want us to do it anymore, we don't. We get fired. Oh, wow. Just like that. That's it. The end. Hey, we've been on a good run, though, right? Yeah, well, it was fun.

It was fun while it lasted. Remember, Rod was the very first ever. If you read my first book, he was the first ever executive in the history of executives to come and say, hey, I think you're like moderately pretty good. You're actually not bad. Yeah. We should talk. That was, oh, nine.

10 years? 10 years ago, yeah. Yeah, maybe more than that. So anyway, glad you're here. You know, that's a good, I think 20, yeah, I think it's been 10 years. This is a big year. We should do something. Like, take me to play golf or something.

Take me to play golf. We did have. I used to take him. Now he's supposed to take me. I think everybody agrees with that. Wait, when did you take me? me. The only time we ever played beforehand was it like Grey Rock

and Austin, I paid for that. Well, you were, where do you remember? Yeah. Yeah, well, it's because you remember. That's not you never, you've never taken me to play golf. That's not true. I've paid absolutely 100%. And I know I've paid for Eddie, lunch, and Ray. Well, of course you pay for them. We don't have money. I don't think you've ever paid my... Oh, that one time was awesome. Are you sure? I don't think you have it.

Lunch, that one does. I don't know that I've ever paid for you either, to be honest. Hey, I told you, we got to get to Trubidor. That's a free shout out, I guess, but we got to go play there. Here's a thing. We need your... It's far away. How far is that? It's not that far.

And your vocals, when you're saying something about all of us, I couldn't always hear what he was saying. So I think there's a ton of potential to use this. Amy, what do you want to say? Yeah, I just, I think that the clear, like I couldn't understand what Morgan and Ray, what they do.

There was something that you said, and now I'm curious. What is it you said about them to? It's M2 and Sizz and Chug and Seltzes, like the hard Seltzes. Yes, okay, gotcha. That makes sense. Sizzen and Seltzer, same line. That's tough to say. So I like it.

Melly, the guy that killed his buddies and is looking at life in prison. So we've had some big names around here, man. I got stories for days for you, man. Well, okay, here's what we'll do. You and Billy Crestle hanging out. Waterman, but don't eat the needles, though, because it'll hurt. Okay, I got to, I can't do as much food. I'm trying to get rid of this pouch.

I'll tell you why. You're wearing golf clothes. Like, you weren't like golf clothes that fit. In the past, it would be like, ooh, it's a little tight on you.

You see the bottom of your belly coming out of the shirt. You look great. Thanks, man. Black pants, yellow shirt. He's screaming, look at me, and you want to look at him because he's beautiful. Wow. Wow.

I didn't know all I was screaming that, but thank you. You're a beautiful man. Thank you. I saw a professional golfer the other day. I don't know what was on, but he was wearing joggers. Like, they were the coolest golf pants I've ever seen. Because golf pants were kind of, sometimes.

But he had, like, they were tight around the ankle. They weren't joggers, but they were golf pants that look like joggers. And I thought, I could get into that golf fashion. Yeah, cool. All right. Well, whatever. I was just saying, like, if. But what are you getting into?

Yeah, there's not, like a guy's wearing that. I don't know. And you're not even going to go play golf. No, no. What are you getting into? Like, if I was shocked. for my husband for like a gift or if anybody listening right now is like, oh, my husband loves golf and he likes joggers. I didn't know they made golf pant joggers.

Interesting. Or I didn't know that was acceptable on the golf course. Well, thank you for sharing that with us. Never mind. I just got a message from Caitlin. Are we going to the mall this evening? The mall? The mall.

Why? Why would you do that? I need some white t-shirts. He needs joggers for golf. You got to Target, dude. No, no, no. You can, but Target doesn't have the, I have a weird fit between a small and, you know, a medium. I'm like a large small or a small medium. What does a dirks family call it as

medium? Kind of, but that mostly means you wear it tight, right? So what is your plan? Well, we have to find white t-shirts that I can wear on American Idol as the t-shirt with something over it. And so we'll go to the mall because they have more more stores to check from. My body's just weird. First of all I got a little pooch. You don't. Oh, my God. Secondly. What? Was that my breathing of yours? Yeah, that was you. All you. That was a deep sigh. because I anyway,

you should get a medium and then have it altered to fit you. I have to go to American Idol Saturday. Well, I guess... No, no time for that. You might be altering a t-shirt?

I'll pay more for the altering than I'm willing a t-shirt. It's for American Idol. Don't they give you money for that? Yeah, but they give it to me in a stipend up front. And you already spent that on video games. Oops.
