The Bobby Bones
Post-show pre-show.
I got a note here that
Raimundo has an update about being on the show Big Brother.
Is that true?
Yeah, I do.
What happened?
So, well, what they did is they released all the cities
that they're going to be doing the auditions in for Big Brother.
And is Nashville one of them?
No.
What's the closest one?
Memphis, Atlanta.
Chicago, seven hours, Jefferson City in Missouri,
which is well over seven hours.
I mean, it ain't looking good unless I want to go to L.A.,
San Diego, New York.
Nothing in the southeast.
Not really.
Some place in North Carolina, but it's even farther than a Chicago or something like that.
Would you fly to Chicago?
Chicago, honestly, it's actually drivable.
If it was a Saturday type thing, I could easily do it.
But dang, is that a hall?
Can I not get an audition in Nashville?
Eddie.
I got a question.
I don't watch Big Brother or anything, but can a married guy be on Big Brother?
Is that a thing?
Okay.
Right?
Not married, engaged, bro.
But even if you're a question.
you were married? They have married people. It's not a single show. Yeah, that's the whole point of it.
They want you to be a family person, have an evolved life. They don't want all these college
co-eds in there. They want some. Some. A couple. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of the last couple years,
they've been going more towards older people just to mix it up because there was a time when it was,
you'd watch it. It was literally frat dudes and sorority chicks. So are you giving up your dream?
I don't know. Still 50, 50. I'm hoping maybe it's a late release. Maybe they announced,
oh, we kind of screwed up. There's not a lot of good people auditioning. We're announcing. We're
announcing Nashville, boom, Atlanta, here we go. But yeah, that hasn't happened yet. It's on the
website. It's a lot of random cities. Like, I even heard of some of them. Probably looking for new
people. We on Idol go to random places if we haven't been in that area. Like, there's a lot of major
cities, but we went to Milwaukee this year, which isn't so random. But again, we're just picking
cities. We went to a place in Oregon that was like two hours outside of bend, like four hours
from Portland, super random. They're doing.
Big Brother's doing Portland, Maine.
Who are you going to find there?
Someone that's Portland Maine-ish.
A guy that's into crabboating, that's about it.
Not somebody that's going to be interesting.
You don't know?
I'm just telling you, some of these cities they're going to,
not going to find a good candidate.
You should definitely have gone to some other spots in the South.
Don't we have listeners in Portland?
But now he's bashing people that are trying out for the show in these probably awesome towns.
Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
And that's our people, man.
Love it.
There. Well, if they're going for a northerner, you're going to get him.
A guy's laptop was destroyed by someone reclining their seat on a plane.
Uh-oh.
Oh, no, no.
A guy's story is going viral after the person in front of him on a Delta flight last week reclined their seat so hard at broke and destroyed a screen.
What?
Delta said they wouldn't cover the cost and then gave him 7,500 frequent flyer miles instead.
And that cost, it's about $250.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro cost about $2,400.
I kind of see.
I understand what happens.
Because, like, you know where that little knob is, where the tray table is?
If that gets caught on your screen and it reclines quickly, that can break the entire screen.
Oh, it's the knob.
They get caught.
More so than the chair hitting it.
That stinks.
Man, they're going to take away reclining from us.
Well, I don't think we would notice.
I really don't.
Yeah, I don't either.
Like, whenever I even press it now, I'm like, did that even do anything?
It doesn't matter.
Well, I'm okay if they do.
do. Yeah, me too. A woman
waters plant for two years before she realized
the plant was fake. I love this story
so much. I feel like Amy would do this.
Exactly. I know. I was like, wow, wow, wow.
You're like, look how good it looks
every time I water it. I'm the opposite. I just
don't water the ones that need it and they end up dead.
She's been watering and nurturing the plant for over two years.
She realized the line when you tried to transfer
the plant to the vase.
She's like, I can't judge.
No. It can happen to the best
of us. Ordering diet
soda with your fries can make you
fat, well, just the fries a lot.
Yeah, like which part?
What do they say?
Or maybe ordering fries with your diet Coke
would make you fat.
Yeah.
Diet Coke with your large pizza is going to get too fat.
Right.
I mean, I used to, that was so me.
I would go to Chick-fil-A and I'd be like, I'll have a number three, no pickle,
extra fries and a die-coke.
You know what I?
And I thought I was like doing good.
What I love, we talk about food that we don't get to eat a lot.
But I go, like, went to Sonic last week.
And Caitlin loves Sonic.
She's from Oklahoma and went to Sonic all the time.
And she was flying from the airport, so I got her, like a diet chariotelime made.
And the, the, the chriot.
Chili dog?
No.
Halapeno poppers?
No, chicken.
What is it?
Oh, chicken potpers.
Like they're.
Popcorn chicken.
That's it.
Oh, got it.
Hey, those are good.
They're really good.
And I just knew that was like one of my favorite things.
And after that three hour flight, I was like, hey, I had this, you know, I took it to her at the airport.
Whenever I picked her up.
And I ate like a third of them before I got to her.
So for sure.
If I was an Uber-Eats driver or a post-made driver, I would eat food.
Oh, you would.
You couldn't do that.
And I was trying to arrange them in the box,
so it didn't look like any of them.
Shake it up.
Yeah, I was just like,
hey, they moved something to the front.
But, yeah, they say,
choosing to have diet drinks with your meals
could lead to weight gain more so than people who ordered the full beverage.
A lot of times, they say it messes with your taste buds
and what you're eating and when you're eating it,
you don't realize.
And two, sometimes you go, I'm having a diet.
I'll have a little more of the food.
which is totally something I would do
let's see anything else I want to do here
I don't like diet I don't like the diet taste though
like I would do that if I like the diet taste
I don't like that aspartame like that
Aspartame like that I would choose a Diet Coke over a real Coke
any day really yeah I have to let
It is is that is that what defines the psycho
Okay cool
I think that's it for the news here that I had
We're gonna go
Other than this one story about our names
how...
Our names.
Well, yeah,
are you cool with your first name?
Yeah.
Love it.
I'm so glad my parents
went with Amy
because you know what they were going to name me?
My dad
wanted to name me Candice
and call me candy for short.
Which is fine if that's your name,
but I just don't...
Me neither.
And my mom was like, no,
we're naming you're Amy.
So thank you, mom.
Are you happy with Bobby?
Yeah, because I don't know
any other Bobby's.
Do you know if you were
almost something else?
No, because my grandfather,
on my dad's side,
who I didn't know,
was named Bob, and I was just named after him.
Yeah.
So, no.
And you guys aren't Roberts.
You guys are...
I'm a straight Bobby.
Not even a Bob.
I'm a straight Bobby.
Yeah.
I'm just a Bobby.
Sometimes I'm one of them's straight.
Now for sure I am.
Morgan, you like your name?
Yeah.
I think I would like one of my middle names more.
My mom wanted to name me Lane.
And my dad wanted to name me Nicole.
And so they compromised on a different name
and gave me those two his middle names,
and I wanted Lane is my first name.
That's cute.
Our friend Amad's struggling with naming his baby he's about to have,
and he's running all these names by us.
He's like, I don't know, though.
And he's like, what about this one?
I don't know if I liked that.
I'd be like that guy.
They goes, yeah, maybe I like that one too.
And then our go-to is always just like,
how about Eddie or Bobby?
Yeah.
I'm like, how much it would cost to sponsor that baby
and get that name, like, you're naming an arena?
Like, you do need the money, man.
Kids are expensive.
He's like, I don't get that finance right, though.
I'm like, well, I don't think anybody has their finances
right when they have a kid.
Gosh, I had no money when I had my first kid.
I got the finances right, though.
But, Amad, I think everyone they worry,
unless you just have a humongous trust fund,
you come from a wealthy family,
you worry if you're going to be able to keep up,
understand, have,
but they're the finances, though.
So we did that.
He left this morning, too.
Caitlin left.
We'll talk about that.
Amad left.
We have a really good guest host
coming up today.
Trooper Johnson,
who was a Marine State Trooper.
I still a state trooper, but with the governor and his protection detail.
It's pretty good.
We had a good show today.
He's so good, yeah.
So that, tomorrow on the show, Amber from Love is Blind on Netflix will be on if you like that show.
So excited about that.
Got a big one.
Thank you.
Oh, Pimp and Joy, maybe.
Yeah, go ahead.
For tornado relief, obviously, if you've been following along, you've seen the devastation
here in Tennessee.
Like in Nashville, yes, but outside Nashville, there's, it's horrible.
Like, what is it at now?
24 people?
dead. Yeah, what is it? 25. I mean, it's a... 24, 25 people dead. 70 people missing and people have
everything. And Pimp and Joy, we have that is something that we have on standby as always,
that always supports causes. And right now, 100% is going to the tornado relief to help these
families, these people, and help rebuild. And you can go to Bobbybones.com to see everything.
I mean, you just buy it and you can wear it and it'll remind you to choose joy and spread joy.
That's what Pimp and Joy is all about.
there you go.
So we're going to get to the show.
Eddie, I have a note here real quick.
Yep.
Eddie says Caitlin turns on the radio when he's talking.
What's that mean?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
That's funny.
She told me that when you guys are driving in the same car
and then like an ad comes out on the radio
and you're talking, she turns it down.
She's like, I can't take Bobby from both sides.
Oh, yeah, she's like, in person.
In person.
But then if we're in the car and Eddie's commercial comes on,
she's like, Eddie, she like talks to it.
She's like, I almost bought a car because of you.
Stop it.
She's pretty funny.
Stop it.
All right.
It's just like, I'm going to go get laser hair removal.
She turns Amy up.
We're going to go.
Here is Wednesday's show.
Thank you guys.

Welcome to Wednesday show.
Morning.
Thank you guys for being here.
Let's see what's happening with everybody in our segment that we call What's the Haps.
Hey.
Hey, what's the Haps?
I was a germaphobe before being a germaphobe was cool.
It's true.
Yeah.
It's very true.
He was like, oh, don't touch his hands.
I can attest to that.
I'm wearing a mask.
Like, I've been living this life for a long time.
So, as all of these boxes of masks go up on eBay and you can't get the face masks
because a $10 box is sold out and going for $100.
I went to my house, I have boxes of masks.
And I took a box of them on my Instagram story yesterday day before.
I was like, there you go, $300.
I'm actually not selling them.
But I have a lot of face masks.
that I would just wear, again, probably two months ago,
I was like, I was just where I'm on the airport
in the airport because it's disgusting.
You had that many just sitting there?
At three boxes.
Wow.
Yeah.
Because here's the real thing about face masks.
They don't so much help you if you're not sick,
but you're supposed to wear them if you are
to keep your fluids from going out.
Because what happens is a lot of these fluids,
they land places you touch them with your hands,
and then you touch your eyes or your ears or even your mouth.
It's not so much about you breathing a minute.
that's why they're saying a lot of these masks aren't going to work.
So if you guys need a mask, one mask, $10.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But I found a box to them at the house yesterday.
I thought we were friends.
And again, I'll say about this corona.
When it first came out, I was like, oh, my good, because it was funny, right?
Now I have to calm people down a little bit.
As the expert on coronavirus, what's scary about it is they don't know what it's going to do.
It hasn't done a lot here yet.
the mortality rate if you get it is at like 2% as opposed to 0.001 of the flu
but we're just kind of waiting and seeing and the fact that they don't know they have to go
worst case scenario because if it gets worse than what they're saying then we're all in trouble we all
die don't freak out yet just wash your hands wash your hands drink corona beer if you want to
not going to affect you that's fine wash your hands don't drink people spit i don't know what to say
except just chill.
But you know all this because you do research.
Oh, I've listened to so many doctors talk.
Even Korean doctors, Chinese doctors.
Like, I'm listening to a lot here.
It's not a hoax.
It's just a just-in case.
Like, it could get bad.
It's going to spread.
It's going to get worse.
And for the most part, it's only going to really hurt those that are young or old
are already sick.
There'll be the occasional person like us, adult, healthy,
who gets it and gets sick and dies from it.
but not right now for the most part.
Take a breath.
Stock your closet up.
Thank you.
Corona closet, have it.
But that's it.
This is just another be aware segment here, okay?
Be aware, but don't be nuts about it.
All right, there you go.
Hey, what's the hat?
Okay, so my daughter watches the office and actually laughs at it, and that makes me so happy.
So I've been dabbling with it, like when I'm getting ready in the bathroom or like on the weekend.
if I'm blowdry my hair, whatever.
I have her in there with me.
And I was like, she's not going to pick up on any of this.
And she's laughed out loud, like one time we were watching it, like four times.
And I was like, this is amazing because we used to watch friends together.
And then friends got taken off of Netflix.
So we haven't really had a show that we both can watch.
And some of the humor I get is a little adult, but it's over her head still.
And so just the fact that she thinks the office is awkward and funny, I'm like, oh, this is a good sign.
It's also the greatest show in the history of television.
It makes me proud.
I know it's your favorite.
So I knew you would be excited.
I was like, now Bobby can bond over TikTok with Stashear and the office.
Oh, look at you.
Yeah, we got two things now.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, what's the hat?
Eddie?
Guys, I slept on the couch last night.
Why?
It wasn't a bad thing.
It was by choice.
She caught you finally?
Finally, guys, it's over.
I start saying all this stuff that I'm supposedly keeping secret.
Go ahead.
No, no, no, it was by choice.
Man, I've been dealing with some congestion stuff.
I feel like I pinpointed it to my bedroom because I feel good until I get in my bedroom.
I'm ready to go to bed and I start feeling like something in my throat and sinuses mainly.
So I was like, you know what?
Let me go down to the couch, spend the night and maybe that'll fix it.
It didn't.
Well, it takes more than a day.
Are you allergic to dust mites?
You saying I should spend the night on the couch?
The week.
Yeah, my wife would love that.
You could be allergic to dust mit.
I am.
I got tested for it.
I'm getting a shot for it now.
And it's helping.
Do the allergy test.
Yeah, I didn't know even that was a thing.
I thought only rich people did that.
Uh-uh.
It's a thing.
It's a thing.
All right.
Dust mites and allergy tests.
Yeah.
They dig in your back.
It's fun.
Sounds awesome.
All right, there you go.
Hey.
What's the hat?
Here's the Bobby Bones Show podcast.
Highlight segment of the day.
Whenever I heard that you were going to take something out of your bedroom,
I thought it was going to be your TV.
Yeah, I know.
But I think we went without a TV for the majority of our marriage.
It's not, the last three years we finally got a TV and we've married 13 years.
So that was 10 years, no TV in the bedroom.
And you love it?
Oh, I love it.
So you're not taking the TV out of the room.
No, it's great.
What are you taking out of the room?
My husband wants to take our cell phones out of the room.
So he doesn't want to bring them into the bedroom,
and we would basically plug them in in the kitchen and then go to the bedroom and get real alarm clocks.
Like legit, old school alarm clocks to wait by.
You're going to go old school.
Let's put a rooster on the room.
I know.
You'll crow.
That's what I said.
And, you know, we recently had, like, well, we had the tornadoes.
situation and our phone is what gave us that alarm at night and I started to think and he had said that
before this went down and so I thought I was kind of maybe I'll entertain this but I'm like no there's
like important things that we need but he's just kind of on this thing of trying to I don't know he
just heard some people to do it and he's like I think it could be healthy for us connection I know can I
suggest a compromise what only put the phone on a charger on the other side of the room
That way you have to like walk over to it.
It's not right there to grab all the time.
I think my new name should be Mr. Compromise.
That is good.
Like just still have it in the room so in case an alert goes off, I hear it.
But it still leaves that connection.
Right.
Because it's true.
If there's an emergency, like I'm going to need my phone.
And if you need to go and see if somebody texts you or something important,
you just get up and take three steps over.
Yeah.
So yeah, this is what Kailen said to me last night.
She was here last night.
She left this morning.
but she goes, because I'm on my phone a lot.
I'm not on the, I'm not just looking at Instagram or Twitter all the time,
but like yesterday was Super Tuesday.
I'm watching election.
I am the tornado stuff's happening.
I'm doing a lot of emails for work.
And she was being funny and she goes, because I have a, my phone is an iPhone and it's got a red phone case on it.
And she goes, hey, she goes, can I ask you a question?
I was like, yeah.
She goes, do you think if I wore a red phone case, you'd like, look at me more?
Oh, dang.
She dresses up like your phone.
You're like, maybe.
That was funny.
That would be great.
That would be great.
Because she does not on her phone very often.
She won't even grab her phone for a few hours.
It's never charged because she's never on it.
I'm like, hey, we got to go.
Your phone charge?
She's like, like, 11%.
Yeah, why not?
Let's go.
And I'm like, are you?
Oh, yeah, that's how I live.
I live at like 5, 10.
When does it turn red?
After 20?
After 5.
I don't know.
No.
I don't know.
Bobby's never been below 75%.
What are you talking about?
Mike, when is it?
20% it hits red.
I guess on a long flight maybe that's happened before.
But I have one of these mofies that you don't put around your phone.
It's just like a little battery that you plug into the bottom of it.
And it charges it two and a half times.
It's really one of the greatest gifts that I was given.
One of the guys at work in corporate at IHR Radio gave it to me, Premiere.
It's a gift.
And I was like, you know my love language.
But yeah, Kailen is not really a phone person, which is crazy.
she's not huge on she is on her Instagram and she looks at stuff but was she in the room when you
facetined me from bed okay I didn't know if she was in there I mean because we were going to bed
and you face time and my husband's like I'm getting in bed right now and I was like well show me
and me now we're going over all kinds of work stuff yeah but I did I did have my shirt on
that isn't always the case that is true that is true because when I walk home I'd just tear my clothes off
and I'm like I am I am who I am
Um, no, I don't know where she, I think her and Amad went to get ice cream or something.
Okay.
So was that y'all's a long time?
No, I think she just wanted ice cream and I had to work on the show.
So, no, we haven't been doing much a long time, Eddie.
Thank you, Brian.
Good.
There we go.
Bobby Bone's show.
Big three stories.
Raymond, know what you got.
In Tennessee tornado, death toll is up to 24, including several children with 70 people still missing.
In politics, Joe Biden won Texas and eight other.
states and a dramatic Super Tuesday for him, Bernie Sanders took California.
And finally, the number of coronavirus deaths in the U.S. rose to nine yesterday.
According to health officials, all of the deaths occurred in Washington State.
There's more than 100 cases right now in 15 states across the country.
Love when you guys reach out to us.
A lot of you have questions, and so we try to answer those as we open up the mailbag.
Bobby's Mailbag.
Hello, Bobby.
I was wondering how you guys handle it when your kid is done with an activity and just wants to quit.
I can't blame my 13-year-old son.
He hates trumpet.
I did too at that age.
But did you make your kids suffer through it?
Did you, Bobby, suffer through the moans and the groans when you were doing it?
And I'm curious what the other people did with their kids.
Signed Kate.
Amy, I'll go to you first.
Do you have two kids ages?
12 and 9.
And they are from Haiti.
They have only been in America two years, so we've tried out a few things, but I haven't really made them stick with something if they haven't liked it.
But honestly, we're not even to the major extracurricular activities.
Like, you know, we tried gymnastics.
Like, that was fine.
It seems like drums.
But we're also busy just trying to learn English.
So if, like, they don't want to do something, I don't have time to force them to do it.
So, but I know when I took piano as a kid, I hated it and my mom let me quit.
and I'm kind of mad about that.
Because, I mean...
Oh, you could have been awesome.
Well, I don't know that it would have been awesome,
but I took a lot of lessons
and I could play stuff back then a little bit.
I mean, nothing crazy.
But I wish I would have stuck with it
because I could know more.
You know, I think it's easy to go,
you make them stick with it.
Now, I'm going to speak as somebody who has no kids,
but I'll talk about myself
when I was a kid and I would try things.
I think for me it was
I had to buy my own equipment for stuff.
I had to invest
and everybody doesn't have to do that
but I'm saying that
could be an alternate version
of this with your kid
like you want to do
you want to play trumpet
I'll get your trumpet
but if you don't want to do it anymore
and you want to go play soccer
you can have to pay for that yourself
which is going to be you out doing work
and chores
and then if you want to quit
after you paid for it yourself
that's on you
because you paid for that
and that's what happens in adult life
I can quit whatever I want right now
because I paid for it
if I want to go to the gym
and quit
I pay for my membership
for the next month
then it's so I would say for me that kept me on things until I just really didn't want to do it anymore.
So I'm also not one of those. It's like you just make them suffer and know what it's like to finish.
They don't want to do it fine, but I think there's an explanation of you don't have to do this anymore.
But for the things that you have to do now, this point forward up to a certain point, you're going to have to actually pay for it in some way and hold them to it.
There's just got to be accountability in some way.
and maybe it's this way,
but accountability is something that should be taught,
not if they find that they absolutely don't like to play the piccolo,
they got to sit on the piccolo for three months.
Right, because they could be exploring that they haven't found
what they're really interested in or passionate about.
And you know your kid.
It's not the trumpet.
You know your kid.
More than a general rule, you know your kid.
And if you think they're just being lazy,
then you make them stay.
And if you think, you know, they don't like it.
They're never going to like it.
I think there's a lesson to accountability learning it in a different way.
Now, I have no kids.
Amy has two that have only been in America for a couple of years.
Eddie, you have two kids of your own and two foster kids.
Yes.
Ages of your kids?
12, 6, 5, and 1.
When she says this, what do you think?
Man, one of the best things I ever did, and I don't know if it was our idea of we came up
with us together, but it was the contract.
That I was dealing with this with my 12-year-old.
He wanted to play baseball, but he was flaky on certain sports.
So we signed a contract, put it out, drew it out,
and it was, you know, like you will play the entire season.
And if you don't finish, you want to quit, you pay us the entry fee plus like $100
because he had a savings account.
So to him $100 was like, oh my gosh, that's everything I have.
And sure enough, he went through the whole season without even thinking about quitting.
So the contract was awesome.
I do it with all my other kids with anything else.
Like, all right, no problem.
You want to do this?
This is how much it costs.
Like you said, if you want to quit, then pay us the money and we'll do that.
I think my general feedback would be
you teach accountability however it feels most comfortable
with the sensibilities of your kid
because you know your kid.
I just want to let me quit,
cool, let's go the next thing, go the next thing.
Right.
Because that doesn't teach them what life is like,
but also if you're an adult and you want to quit,
you get to quit.
You just got to pay for the next thing.
That's what I would say.
The word, Amy likes one word on stuff.
Like your word of the ear is watering.
I would say the word of this is accountability.
Boom.
As long as you can teach that in some way, I think you define your own way to teach accountability.
Bones, I think you're ready for kids.
Yeah.
Me too.
You like it.
That's rock.
Let's go.
Get Kailin on the phone.
All right, there you go.
That's the mailbag.
And that was Bobby's Mailbag.
You know, Amy said in her What's the Haps last week that she watched the new Lion King with her kids.
And you loved it, huh?
Yeah, that was so great.
Do they have interest in watching the old Lion King?
King? They have seen it. They watched it at the orphanage a long time ago. They much prefer the new one.
So, I mean, I do too. Did they redo all the songs from Lion King?
This is the same songs, but the new singers. Like the new kids. Yeah. Yeah. Like Beyonce's singing
and whoever else all the other people are. Got it. Yeah. Well, I'm going to play you a song from a Disney
classic. You name the movie. You're all playing. Amy, produce ready. Morgan number two who does
our videos. Are you ready? Yes.
We're just going to start right away. Name the movie this is from.
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
That's called Colors of the Wind.
And?
Amy?
Pocahontas.
Eddie?
Pocahontas.
Morgan.
Pocahontas.
Okay, we're all in this. Everybody feels good.
I like that. I like that.
All right.
Let's go to the next one.
What Disney is this from?
Can you name that movie? Everybody good?
Yeah, yes.
Mary Poppins.
Mary Poppins.
Mary Poppins.
Okay, well, stop you guys.
We're only doing five of them.
Okay, I think we're going to have a little bit.
problem at song number
three. Here we go.
At first you think
Cruella is a devil
but after time has worn away
the shock.
You come to realize
you've seen her kind of eyes
watching you from
underneath a rock.
You are no help watch.
Okay it's down.
Oh Eddie looks puzzled. Eddie I'm going to go to you first.
What is it?
I think there was a clue there
with that dog barking, 101 Dalmatians.
Woo!
Morgan?
101 Dalmatians.
101 Dalmatians.
Dang it.
Can't get us, bones.
I know.
Rala Deville.
Yeah, there's one, two,
have three, yeah.
Let me find one that I think is really going to get you guys.
Okay.
Raymundo, let's do number eight on the list.
Here you go.
See if you know this Disney movie.
Good luck for.
When you wish up on a star,
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to me
Amy doesn't know, I can tell by her face
Yeah, I know it, but I don't know.
I mean, I know I've heard it.
But what's the movie?
I'm in...
Morgan, do you know it?
I don't know, this is a guess.
Cinderella.
Oh.
Eddie.
That's a huge song, and I've heard it hundreds of times.
But I think it's the grasshopper singing in Pinocchio.
Oh, is that what it is?
Yeah.
It's Pinocchio.
I don't know if it's the grasshopper, but I know that it's Pinocchio.
That's what I'm talking about.
Amy.
Snow White.
I knew this song, too.
Huge.
When you wish upon a star.
But I didn't know.
That's old, old school.
That was a guess.
Eddie, you're in the lead by one.
Come on.
Okay.
Okay.
We'll do this one.
Last one.
Enjoy.
Eddie's trying to act it out right now.
Okay.
I'm in.
Pull it down there.
Amy's got it for sure.
Morgan, do you know it?
I think so.
Okay, don't say Eddie you in?
100%.
Oh, banker.
Morgan, what is that?
Aladdin.
Oh.
Oh.
Amy?
Little mermaid.
Eddie?
What do you call it?
The legs.
Little Mermaid.
Come on.
I danced to that.
You did.
I danced with the stars.
You did.
You were prince.
Prince.
Prince, the singer prince.
No, no.
You were all.
Bessberry Barre.
Prince Eric?
That was Prince Eric.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
That means our winner, Eddie.
Come on.
I'm telling you.
I know these Disney movies.
I do.
Is it because you're.
dad and you had to watch them all? Or because you watched them all as a kid?
Oh, I thought you said because I'm my dad. No, not my dad. Yeah. I watch them all with my kids.
They forced me to watch all these movies. And you end up liking them and that's all you watch.
Yeah. Good stuff. It starts to get better. Yeah. Yeah.

With Bobby.
Tell me something good.
A little girl with a big heart is on a.
mission to spread kindness after a tragic event. Her name's Allison Kruger, a six-year-old from
Wisconsin. She's making cards for each and every employee at Molson Kor's beverage company.
They let them know they're not alone after the recent shooting there. The kindergarten
student came up with the idea on her own telling her mom she wanted to do this and got out
markers and construction paper and went to work. After she finishes all 1,000 cards,
she's going to take them to the brewery and hand deliver them to all the workers.
The mom says, I think the cards will make everybody happier and will also.
also make her happier.
So shout out to the six-year-old girl I'm Allison Kruger.
That's really a great story.
That's what it's all about.
That was Tell Me Something Good.
Bobby Bones Show.
Bonehead.
Norrie up the day.
Over to Eddie, filling in for lunchbox.
This guy's definitely a bonehead,
but it's kind of impressive that a guy in South Dakota got pulled over three times in the same day.
The first one, he gets pulled over, going 115 miles an hour.
First of all, that's way too fast.
Second of all,
three times in one day. When I get pulled over
for a month, my butts puckered. Right.
I'm looking at every cop car around me going, I don't want
to get this again. Not this guy. He's going to $1.15
the first time. Go ahead. And it's weird because I've always
heard that that's like, ooh, man, you can get arrested
for that. Cop was nice. Gave my ticket, let him go.
He didn't get arrested for doing
115? A few minutes later,
a different cop pulls him over.
He's going 92 miles an hour
and a 60. Is he drunk? No.
This is during the day, bones. All right. Well, yeah,
but that doesn't always matter. That's true.
All right, go ahead. That's true. And then cop says, okay, I guess it
didn't register in the system. Here's your ticket. Two tickets. Then 30 minutes later, he gets pulled
over again. This time he just wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Then it's in the system by that point.
They're like, all right, buddy, you've been pulled over in the last hour three times. You're going to
jail. They end up taking him to jail for a seatbelt violation. Well, yeah. It's because they found out
that he got two in a row. Correct. Definitely a bonehead. Definitely. Just the first going 115, that's the
trouble. Yeah. And then three times, it is a moron. Yeah. Well, that's your bonehead story of the day.
There you go.
Appreciate you guys being here with us.
We live in Nashville and you're new to the show.
We live in Nashville.
It's where all the country music is, where it's all made.
It's where all the stars live.
And sometimes we get cool stories about just being somewhere where somebody famous is.
And sometimes we do stars are just like us.
And a lot of times it's Amy, who's like, I was at the grocery store.
And I saw Keith Irvin.
And today it's Mike D.
Who Mike D. is our head writer on the show.
If you hear a game, he probably wrote that game.
He gathers mailbag questions.
He just, he has a podcast called Movie Mike's Movie Podcast.
So Mike, do you and your girlfriend are where?
We're at True Food Kitchen.
Which is like, it's a chain, but it's really great healthy food.
And you guys are into you too?
Yeah, we're just sitting there eating or we just ordered.
And this guy comes up and he puts his hand on my shoulder.
And I thought it was the waiter coming back.
And he's like, hey, how you doing, man?
And I look up.
And it was Brett Eldridge.
Oh, that's cool.
Super nice guy.
Really nice.
Like, people don't really recognize me that much.
And for someone to see me and then come say hello, that was crazy.
Did your girlfriend think that was cool?
Yeah, she thought it was awesome.
All right.
He was like, what is happening right now?
So what did you guys do?
Did you talk for a minute?
Yeah, he just asked us how we were, and then he said he just got back.
I think he was touring.
And then he recommended the quinoa pancakes.
Wait, don't you like that?
So, yeah, Brett and I are good friends.
That's often where we go to eat together.
That's what I get every time.
Brett, I was talking to Brett the other day, and he's like,
I just finished this virtual reality.
and so I was like
when Caitlin and I went
you saw on her Instagram story
went to a virtual reality
that's because Brett went first
and he was like
go play the Bowen Arrow game
man you guys are buddies
yeah he's a bud
yeah we talk a lot
but he is super nice
and he's been to the house
and done the podcast
yeah really nice guy
that's cool
I went to True Food yesterday
you did
did you see anyone famous
yeah Jake
Ellen
Jake going
yeah
walking
walking to true food
wow
and it's me
Caitlin
our friend of Maud
and Jake's sitting at the bar
and again Jake and I are buddies too
so we don't have to go running to each other
so I walk in and it's like
4 o'clock and I go
and he looks over at me
and he goes what up dude
he's with his friends so we just keep talking
and we just keep talking and so we go on
we order our first part and they finished their mill
and he came and sat with us for like 15 minutes
he had never met Caitlin
he just seen her on Instagram
and he came and kind of talk to her
and he's like dude
what's the deal huh
she's real
look at this
so
But yeah, I tell people, people ask a lot.
They say, where do you go in Nashville to see the stars?
And I'm like, you don't go to Broadway, like the touristy place.
You go to like true food at lunch or early dinner or you, you know, it's a Tuesday night at a local place.
That's funny.
I think you said you saw Sam Hunt there one time too.
Yeah.
I was sitting there eating and Sam walks in just to pick up an order.
So Sam walked in.
I saw Joy Williams there the other day.
Yeah.
Civil wars.
Civil Wars and solo artist.
She was in there.
She came and sat with us to talk for a little.
She came and sat with me and Brett and talked.
And her and Brett had never met.
And they were both like,
I'm the big fan of each of you.
Now when they sing a song together,
you're gonna be like, I did that.
I told that at True Food.
I was like, Two Food Kitchen set that up.
So, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's cool.
Brett's the coolest, right?
Yeah, awesome.
That's cool.
Hey, Stars are just like us.
They eat reasonably priced healthy food
at a chain restaurant.
You think it's all fancy all the time?
Not at all.
You see anybody?
Shoot, I was just at True Food on Friday.
I didn't see anybody.
Nobody famous?
Dang it.
Oh, man.
No, but our waitress is really sweet there.
She's a big fan of you, Bobby, for sure.
No, big fan of the show.
The show, but you, and she knows that you come in there a lot too.
And then, of course.
And her son works there too?
Yeah.
Like, I know all the people.
They're like the sweetest.
She was like, and this is my son.
She's like, this has been really good bonding for us to work at the same place
because we get to ride in to work together.
And he said it doesn't really even, he would never listen to country music, but she
loved the show.
So he's like, okay, I'll give the Bobby Bone Show a try.
And he's like, I love the show.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
Probably way too cool for us, but...
For sure, way too cool for them.
But he ended up liking it.
Here's Amy's pile of stories.
So research suggests that people reach their happiest at age 82.
And this study was done across 72 different countries, and 82 is that sweet spot.
That's terrible.
Well, perfect.
Yeah, I feel so good.
Dye.
Life's over.
I'm so happy.
It takes you that long to figure it out.
Yeah.
Well, they say by 82, you...
You become more empathetic as you're older.
You've figured life out.
You're more equipped to dealing with challenges.
What's the average lifespan in America?
Because I would bet it's right around that, if not below that.
Maybe you're just excited you live to 82.
That's why you're happy.
You're just like, whoo, I'm so happy.
Yeah, the average lifespan in America is 78.6 years.
Wow.
Oh, my gosh.
So 82 is older.
Yeah, I'd be pretty pumped too if I outlive the average.
So I have some ways we can keep our hands.
happiness going as we get older and these are the tips first of all don't retire didn't plan to stay
stimulated keep going work work work exercise uh try new things moderation and variety are key like having a
balanced lifestyle and then keeping your social circle exciting because meeting new people helps engage
it like that exciting try new things like social circles like i think that's just a nice generic story to go hey
But Amy's always like, and then call 1,900 social circle.
No.
And you just mean.
Are you lonely on a Friday night?
Is your social circle not exciting?
I'm Veronica.
I'll be there for you.
All right.
All right.
So police pulled over an 11-year-old kid who was driving a car in a parking lot.
And the adult family member who was with him told the cops that it was a way to get the kid to stop playing Grand Theft Auto all day.
Because like, all I wanted to do was that.
So they thought, okay, if you want to go drive around,
you get this fix and do something,
we'll just go to this parking lot
and you could drive.
The family member was hit
with several traffic charges.
So maybe, you know, find something else
for our 11 year old to go do.
I agree, right?
But I'm going to tell you
when I was 11 or 12,
one, I was driving around
in the deer woods,
trying to find people
where they were like running dogs.
And I was 11 or 12 driving around.
Right.
And I learned to drive, like really drive
in a parking lot.
It's in a parking lot,
nobody gets hit.
Was there anything wrong?
No, nothing was wrong.
I mean, really, the...
I don't hate it.
The person in charge of the kid, I know, I see what you're saying.
Hot take.
It was like, why not take him out of this gaming scenario
and go take him out to learn something he's really going to need to use in life,
like driving and we're in a parking lot.
Now, if he's like beating up prostitutes and stuff, that's in that game.
Yes, it is in the game.
I know.
But driving in a parking lot.
Crazy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I still need to play that.
Okay, so I have a self-esteem hack.
And this is something that I say all the time.
I say sorry all the time.
Even when I don't even, I don't even know why I'm saying it.
And I'll get called out on it.
Like, I'll say it.
My husband will be like, you don't have to say you're sorry.
You didn't do anything.
And I'm like, I guess I just, okay, I'm sorry.
But this writer at Pop Sugar, which is a website I go to a lot,
says that you should try replacing the word sorry if you say it a lot with thank you.
Because it's like so much better.
I don't really know how I would implement that.
But I guess it's just helping you train your brain to stop saying sorry.
Tell me out.
Tell me, man, you cranky this morning.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Tell me your cranky.
You're cranky this morning.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Like, that's it.
Like, thank you.
Sorry, I didn't get all of sleep.
But thank you for noticing that.
No, just don't say sorry at all.
Ever.
It's eliminated.
Listen, I already am not very good saying it.
Yeah.
The science that backs are up shows that saying thank you instead of sorry,
conversations more focus on appreciation,
which helps boost your self-esteem.
And then both people in the conversation are affected negatively.
All right.
There you have it.
That was Amy's podcast.
of stories.
It's time for the good news.
With producer Eddie.
Tell me something good.
88 year old Harold Store Lee
was mowing his lawn when he broke his hip.
EMT responders come in.
They check him out.
They get him help, right?
And then they get back to the station.
They're like, hey, what do you guys think
about getting together, going back,
mowing the guy's lawn for him since he wasn't able to do it?
So they spent a few hours going back,
mowing the lawn, working on the garden,
fixing up his house.
That's cool.
Love it.
Because they go back and still remembered.
Correct.
They were like, hey, we have.
helped him. We fixed him, but we should go back and help him more because he's probably having a
rough time. That's awesome, man. That's what it's all about. That was tell me something good.
Here we go. Come on, Bobby. Coming in just a bit, state trooper Johnson, who is a state trooper and also
protects the governor. He's going to be the guest host today. I got a lot of police officer
questions. And let's see if he'll hit me with the stick. Oh, with a baton. That's what you've
been waiting for. That's weird, man. I know. I'm great. Hey, speaking of weird, I had somebody pull this
audio. This is a couple
of weeks ago. Whenever
Eddie was talking about my girlfriend, it was a little creepy.
Oh, yeah, we have it. He said it didn't exist. How often are we going to talk about this?
Well, no, we have the audio. So,
I have a girlfriend. She left this morning, by the way. I won't see it for five or
six days. Her name's Caitlin.
And this is early. It's Amy and Eddie trying to describe what celebrity
Caitlin looks like. Because we do this. Someone will just be like, what do you look like?
Just tell us a celebrity you look like, so we can picture it in our heads. Here you go.
Like Julian Huff on
Her body is like amazing.
Okay.
Stuff like that.
I'm done with this.
I can't think of a celebrity.
Okay, Amy, don't laugh over it though.
Sorry, sorry.
Just play that second part, Ramundo.
Body's like amazing.
Okay.
Yeah, rock.
I mean, it's so underneath, like, me and lunchbox talking that I'm surprised we all caught it.
She caught it.
Okay, because I didn't hear it then.
What, did Eddie just say?
Yeah, rock.
It's weird, man.
Oh, you sound like Eddie more than anybody.
That's weird.
That just doesn't come out of my mouth.
That's very strange.
Play it again, Ramon to the whole clip.
Like Julian Huff on, like, her body is like amazing.
Okay.
Yeah.
Eddie, you were creepier than lunchboxes.
I don't know what that was, I'm telling you.
Rock.
I don't know.
We found it.
Good, thank you.
A listener sent us the exact time we go to a podcast and dig it out.
Is that it?
Are we done with that one?
Maybe, we'll see.
Let's go over to Amy with the joke now.
The morning corny.
Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
Because if they flew over the bay, they'd be bagels.
That was the morning corny.
It's time to play.
What's that racket?
Let's put on Lindsay in Iowa.
Lindsay, good morning.
How are you?
Good morning. I'm good. Morning studio.
Morning.
Now, you've heard the game, right?
Yes.
You have a chance to win $10.
Ooh.
So we're going to let you hear the sound here.
We play What's That Racket?
Listen closely.
Amy, do you know what that is?
I do.
Have you seen the paper?
I think so.
Okay, okay.
Lindsay, now people have guessed a fox.
For some reason, people have guessed a lot of animals.
someone's guest a crazy woman.
What do you think that is?
I'm going to guess
it's, oh boy,
it's like a dolphin going crazy.
A dolphin going, wow, I hear that.
Raymondo just nailed her immediately.
No, sorry.
Wow, Ramundo, wow.
He did hit you quick with that buzzer.
It is not a dolphin going crazy.
Raymond, quick play that sound one more time, please.
Okay.
Lindsay, you did not win,
but we'd like to say thanks for listening.
Where do you live?
I live in Cedar Rapids
You know I love it there
I've been there many times
Yes you have
I've seen you here
Just walking around
You watch me in the hotel or what
Well you know I didn't want to admit it
Yeah yeah yeah
I saw you when you're on your comedy tour
Well I appreciate that
And thank you for listening
I'm sorry you didn't win
What will you do without the $10 is the question
You know I'm probably just gonna go ahead
And live my normal life
Oh we like that positive
attitude. That's great.
All right. Lindsay, thank you. Have a great day.
Thanks, you do.
All right, bye-bye.
For the last couple weeks, we have had guest hosts in the studio since Lunchbox has been out.
And filling in in Lunchbox's chair today, Trooper Chris Johnson, state trooper, former Marine, protects
the governor of Tennessee, and he is walking into the studio right now.
Here he is right here.
What's up, man?
Come on in here.
He brought a gym bag.
he brought a, what else do you have over there?
He drove the car in here.
Booh.
How you doing?
Good morning.
Hey, appreciate you coming up here.
Yes, sir.
Thank you.
Have you ever heard of our show before?
Yes, sir.
I've heard it.
All right.
I'm a regular listener.
Oh, you are?
I didn't know.
We were just, like, this show, just collectively, we are so appreciative of law enforcement.
And we were thinking about people we'd like to have up here.
And for a week, we were like, which officer can we call?
Because we don't have anybody that we would just go, hey, come up here.
And so I don't know how they got a hold of you, but I was like, this is perfect.
So appreciate it.
How do we get a hold of you or did you get a hold of us?
I was on my way to the gym on Monday morning and I was listening to the show and you had made a call.
Hey, we're still looking for a police officer.
And I thought, I could do this.
Let's see.
So I just called the show on the way to the gym.
I was drinking my pre-workout.
You called the request line?
I did.
That's awesome.
8-1877, Bobby.
Somebody answered the phone.
young lady answered the phone. I said, hey, my name's Chris Johnson. I'm a police officer.
I'm off this week. I can come in and she took my name and information. Then from here,
here we are. I was reading your schedule because you say you're off this week. You have a rigorous
schedule of you work seven days in a row for 12 hours a day? At least 12 hours a day. My day shift
schedule would be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for 7 days straight. And then on the governor's detail,
your schedule doesn't stop at 6 o'clock if he's still out in town. So my schedule would be his
schedule. But typically it's a 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then we have a night crew that comes in later on
in the evening. Do you ever ever just like switch to channel 6 and be like, yo, would you watch
Netflix last night? Or does it all stay serious? It stays pretty serious. You never know who's going to be
listening in and I have bosses and you don't want to play around on the radio. Man, I would. I don't want to
play around all the time. I have been talked to a couple times. Hey, because I'm what you see me right now,
That's the way I am all the time.
I've got a job that I have to do and I'm going to get it done,
but I'm a pretty relaxed dude.
So, yeah, I've gotten...
He's like, I was drinking my pre-workout.
Does that governor have a nickname?
We call him GBL, Governor Bill Lee.
Okay, so not like the Raven has left the fly.
Yeah, but do you have one you...
Is that not secret or is it known what you refer to in your headphone?
Yeah, we just keep it like...
Yeah, we don't do anything.
No crazy call signs or anything.
What would you name, though?
Because I was really hoping we could get me a name here.
Yeah.
If you guys had earpieces in and you're like, all right, I don't even want to taint you with what I would call me.
Because probably like, you know, super cool, muscular.
That's too long already.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
You need something quick.
What would you, what do you think?
I thought a couple nicknames here.
Oh, off the cuff.
Just by looking at them.
Like the nerd.
Well, I was, when you mentioned it while I was in the green room, I thought,
TRI. TRI is on the move. TRI is on the move. The raging idiot.
The raging idiot. Nice. Nice. TRI. How long have you been a police officer?
Seven years. And so when you, what were you doing before you were a police officer?
As soon as I got out of the Marine Corps, I put in an application for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
How about that Marine Corps, huh? Yes, sir. Come on. Come on.
Thanks.
I bet you were just whooping people, aren't you?
That's what I picture. Like Marines just, inmate gives them me.
trouble, they just whoop them? It didn't go
like that. My job in the Marine Corps
I was an electrician on F-18s,
so I traveled the country with
fighter jets and fixed them as pilots
or equipment broke. Dang, that's
intense. It was fun. Because if you
didn't get that fixed, that's trouble.
Yes, sir. Somebody's up in the air and they're like, oh,
click, click. Johnson!
Oh, oh. Yes, sir. That's...
Get in here.
Hey, you.
So where'd you grow up? I grew up here in Middle
Tennessee. Home is White Bluff, Tennessee.
I live in Murfreesboro now.
So you grew up in Tennessee, did you go to college for a little bit?
Yes.
And was that your deal?
Well, college was not my deal at all.
I went to college.
I didn't party, but I didn't go to class either.
I watched Band of Brothers all the time and didn't attend class
and quickly found out that that's not a way to do life.
So I always had a sense of patriotism in me and decided to go see a recruiter.
And from there, I joined the Marine Corps.
it took about a month and a half to go see the recruiter for the very first time to being shipped
off to boot camp.
Wow.
I just made the decision and went with it.
Committed.
What was boot camp like for you?
It was tough.
I kind of had the mentality that this is what I wanted to do, so this is what I was going to do.
And the good thing about boot camp, and it is the hardest thing that anybody will ever have to do.
But it's a mental thing.
So physically, your body is only going to do.
going to do what it is it's capable of doing and then it's going to break down and shut down and
not be able to do anymore so there are you'll get to the point to where there are no more push-ups
there are no more burpees that you can put out getting to that point is mental and as long as you
have a strong mental mindset a we call it a warrior mindset where you're not going to give up
and then you get through it um you you start changing the way you think about things and
physically what hurts doesn't mean that it's the end of it all i call mine a weenie mindset
how we feel about that?
You do you, bro.
Okay.
So how long are you in the Marines before you hop out and become a trooper?
Eight years.
Wow.
And so then you go, I'm going to go and patrol the streets and crack some heads.
That's what I would say anyway if it were me.
What would you think?
So it didn't go like that for me.
I had gotten out of the Marine Corps and was being lazy, living on savings,
and hanging out, took some time off, and started gaining weight and losing all my money
and decided I needed to find a job.
And I'd always wanted to be a police officer.
I just didn't know what exactly I wanted to do.
And watching the news and also got some messages from some buddies,
hey, the Highway Patrol's hiring.
And I just happened to go online and fill out an application and do that.
I always, ever since I was a kid, I've always wanted to do it.
But my sense of responsibility and service is kind of what drew me into it.
It wasn't cracking heads.
I wanted to be the one that picked up a kid out of a crash and gave him a teddy bear and made them feel good after a traumatizing moment in their lives.
Whenever you do a traffic stop, because this is what I see that I tell our listeners about is that I feel like your life is at risk every single time you pull someone over because you just don't know what they're going to do inside of that car.
And we as the driver, we're the knuckleheads. We've probably been speeding. We're probably doing something that we're
we shouldn't have been doing, our lights out.
We didn't, like, we should respect the fact that you are walking up to our car,
not knowing what in the world's about to happen inside of our little box.
And even a routine traffic stop for someone like yourself has to be a bit of a,
oh boy, here we go again, like every single time.
When you pull someone over, is that something where you're like,
I need to make sure I'm aware all the time at what's happening?
Absolutely.
Hypervigilant, head on a swivel.
always trying to look at where you're going and look at where you came from.
So if you've got to get back there to get back to your car for whatever reason,
you know how to get there the quickest and safest way possible.
I just respect you guys so much for literally risking your life.
Like we are pulled over for being a knucklehead and you are risking your life coming out
because who knows what someone's going to grab out of their car or drive off or any of that.
Not to mention the more heroic braver actions you guys are doing,
Just the routine thing that we get irritated at
is you guys risking your lives.
And so, you know, to me,
especially when it's nighttime.
Are you kidding me?
You can see nothing when it's nighttime.
Yeah, I feel like, is there ever times
where you're like,
I'm kind of too scared to pull that person over?
What about rain?
When it's pouring down rain.
Well, you'd be like, you know, it was only 11 over.
Right.
I don't want to do this.
So there aren't ever any,
there weren't ever any times
when I was on the road that I thought,
well, no, I don't feel like doing that.
I kind of had the mentality of if I saw you break the law,
if I had probable cause and pulled you over,
and I'm a state trooper.
So my job was primarily traffic control and traffic patrol.
So if I saw you doing something,
I pulled everybody over.
If I had an opportunity to pull them over
because I saw him break the law, I pulled them over.
And then from there, I go and talk to him.
I hear what's going on.
we communicate back and forth with each other.
Just because I'll pull you over,
doesn't mean that I have to write you a ticket
or take you to jail or any of that.
There's some officer discretion there.
And I use that discretion whenever I stop somebody.
So you have a wedding ring on.
Would you pull your wife over?
Oh, that's a good question.
I would probably call her.
Okay, because I dated a guy freshman year.
Call her on her phone.
I know, I know.
Freshman year of college,
I dated a guy that wanted to be a Texas state trooper.
room and he told me he would pull me over.
Amy's still mad about this?
How long it was that?
No, just pull me over, but like give me a ticket.
Like there's no way.
Like it's not he could pull me over and be like, hey, babe, slow down.
It was like, no, if you, I would write you a ticket just like anybody else.
I was like, this probably isn't going to work.
If someone's mouthy and disrespectful and you're on the border, you're like, you're kind
on the fence, does that affect what you're going to do with that ticket?
No.
I mean, that's the kind of stuff that we hear.
all the time. And if I am going to write you a ticket, I'm going to write you a ticket because
you deserve the ticket, not because you were talking to me or being mean or being rude or
disrespectful. That comes with the job. But what if I'm super respectful and you were going to
write the ticket? But I'm like, but Officer Johnson, your eyes are so blue. That's not going to
work either. What about crying? Oh, it's a good one because I'll do that. No. That doesn't help
a little bit? One time I had a nosebleed and the cop was like, oh, you're bleeding everywhere
I was like, yeah, I'm trying to get to the, and I was, and he let me go.
You ever run into one of those where physically, like something's happening and you're like,
oh, I get it.
You need to like be super aware and get their safe, but I understand the situation.
Right.
I haven't had it happen to me personally, but I've heard stories of it.
I had somebody that was trying to get his girlfriend to the hospital.
She was having a baby.
And I got them pulled over.
They pulled over and I talked to them.
I saw what was going on and I followed them to the hospital.
Nice.
Damn.
Man, what if I was trying to get before Starbucks was closing?
And I was like, give me that police escort.
Right, good one.
Oh.
Probably not.
All right, fair enough.
I was that a good one.
Eddie's just rooting me on my dumb questions.
Trooper Johnson is here.
If you guys want to hop on the phone, because we're going to go away for like three minutes or so and come back.
But you can hit us up.
877-Bobby.
Our guest co-host today, Trooper Johnson, with the governor's executive protection detail.
I have lots.
You think those questions are dumb.
Wait until the next one.
He's also got bags he brought with them.
I think he's going to tase me or something.
I'm not sure what's going to happen.
What is that?
So Scoobie Steve said, bring some cool police stuff.
So I just brought some stuff.
Nice.
If you tased me, would I poop my pants?
You shouldn't poop your pants.
You shouldn't.
Okay.
However, the Highway Patrol does not have tasers.
We don't carry tasers.
What?
You don't waste time with tasers.
Love it.
Do you have a stick?
You have a baton?
I didn't bring it with me.
We do carry aspatons.
What did you call the what?
Asp.
Oh, I think so.
I was like, why are you just hitting me there?
Why not hit me in the back?
I was like, okay.
Never heard it called that.
Bend over.
Okay, we're coming back.
Why is it?
What's Asp mean?
It's the brand.
Do they realize it's really close to the other one?
Yeah, yeah.
And I don't curse it's called a butt baton.
You're right.

Our guest co-host today is Trooper Johnson.
You've been with the governor's detail for how long?
I've been with this governor since he came into office.
And I was with the previous governor,
Governor Haslam for about a year.
And then in between there, I took a year off and went to D.C.
And did federal protection in D.C. for you.
Who are you protecting in D.C.?
I was protecting a cabinet secretary.
Wow.
Yes, sir.
That's the goal.
For you?
To have a.
Oh, to have a protection.
Somebody with an earpiece.
with you.
Yeah, that would be cool.
I think you just like talk to them.
I just want a friend is all it is.
It's the one I can talk to in their ear.
I want to have a call here from Scott in Texas.
Hey, Scott, Trooper Johnson is on with us.
What would you like to ask him?
Morning, studio.
Morning.
Hey, Trooper Johnson.
My son's 21, just graduated high school.
What advice would you give to parents that he's a police cadet,
that you would give parents to set them at ease
as far as the job and the risk you do every single day?
that's a really good question probably what i would say is is understand what they're striving for
and understand the job that they're wanting to do and also in in your specific area i don't know of
a law enforcement agency that doesn't put safety of their personnel as a number one priority
so with that being said that's exactly why they're going off to training is to learn how to be
a police officer or state trooper or sheriff's deputy the safest and most efficient way possible
So have faith in your son and doing what he's wanting to do
and understanding the seriousness of it
and also your community and that they're focused on the safety of their personnel as well.
Thank you very much, sir, and I wish you nothing but the best in safety.
Thank you, sir.
Scott, appreciate you, bud.
I'll like to play a game here called Ask an Officer.
Ray Mundo, if I can get some game show music, please.
Trooper Johnson, question number one.
I sat at home last night.
I came up with all these questions.
Now, these are things that we've talked about on the show
or that I just wonder aloud.
Question one.
Let's say there's a police officer in front of me
and the light turns green and he doesn't move.
Can I honk at him?
Sure, there's nothing that says you can't honk at him.
But is he going to be mad and follow me
and then wait for me to infract and then pull me over?
I can't speak for every officer.
I wouldn't.
If I'm in the wrong and somebody points out that I'm in the wrong,
then I go from it.
Constructive criticism or something like that,
that's no sweat off my back.
It's constructive criticism.
Can I get a speeding?
ticket for going one mile per hour over. Yes, you can. The law says the speed is this and you can get a
ticket for going one mile an hour over. There's usually an officer discretion and we understand that
a mile an hour over is just that. But yeah, the law is, if the interstate says 70, the law is 70.
All right. The law. Okay. Let's say I see something going down and there's only one option and that
option is citizens arrest. Can I do it?
Citizens arrest is not as easy as you would think.
Oh, wow. You have to be witnessing a felony take place.
A felony? I can't. Let me just run this by you. I see somebody illegally parking and I don't like to cut of their jib.
Why don't I just go citizens arrest them? You cannot. By all means, confront them if that's what you want to do.
Hey, I want to park there. But no, you can't arrest them. All right. Can I get arrest.
if I walk in front of a police officer and yell,
oh, crap, and they take off sprinting away.
What would you do?
I'd probably just look at you funny.
You wouldn't chase me.
TRI.
You wouldn't go like that guy.
I should probably chase him and something's up.
No, I would not.
I would not.
I love answering these.
We would try that today.
Do you just walk up?
You want to be like, oh, no, there he is.
And then you take off running.
Really, what would you do?
If you're standing there, you're like watching out for bad guys.
You're taking care of people.
And I walk up and I'm like, oh, my goodness, there he is.
And then I go, let's get out of here.
and we run. A little bit of you would be like, I wonder what they're up to.
I would definitely wonder what they're up to.
But a part of the job, just like what we were talking about whenever I pull somebody over,
is staying hypervigilant.
I'm going to see you coming up to me.
I'm going to watch your body language.
I'm going to see how you're acting and just walking up to somebody and saying, oh, crap,
and then running away.
Not a concern.
That's more strange than suspicious.
All right, all right.
How, because I know that as a police officer, there are a lot of things you have to train to do before you actually get in real life and do it.
You're having to go through all these things in training.
A lot of dangerous things, weapon training.
Let's say I wanted to volunteer for like a cavity search and have you cavity search me.
Would that be possible?
What?
What?
For me, no.
No, it will not be possible.
I'm not working on voluntary cavity searches.
All right.
But if you would, they need volunteers at some point, right?
Like to practice.
Do you ever, like, people have to practice on like a.
Amy?
Not a cadet.
But you, I'm sure you have to practice.
Were you going to say cadaver?
Yes.
I was, but then I was like, that wouldn't, that wouldn't work.
But I mean, you have to practice.
We do practice searches.
On each other.
We do practice.
Yes, it's usually cadet to cadet.
Okay.
This is how it's done.
It's our day.
Let's get this over with.
Never in any of my training did it involve cavities, though.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
All right, all right.
Let me follow.
Okay, this is kind of a more real one.
Those are just stupid ones I've wondered.
What do TV shows get wrong, like that you see?
Good one.
And I'll give you an example.
I just think about this.
When I see people do radio, for example, and they don't have headphones in.
I'm like, well, that can't be true because the speakers now
will be going through the microphone and be feeding back.
And they don't wear headphones sometimes when they're doing radio.
And I go, that's not accurate.
What do police shows and movies do a lot where you go?
That's not accurate?
Probably the thing that I recognize most is obviously they're in a show, but the speed that everything takes place.
It's not realistic.
The way they get tests back on more of the CSI-type shows and the way they get their evidence is returned to them is just not at all how it really goes.
How fast where your car go?
70 miles an hour.
Nice answer.
Good one.
Yeah.
And just my other question, could I volunteer for a cavity?
All right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, we have a bunch of calls here.
We're going to take some more in a second from Trooper Johnson.
Amy has a question, too, because, you know, the tornado hit here, and I was over running through town.
You want to just talk about this now?
I mean, we can.
Because maybe he'll know.
Yeah.
So, yeah, my husband had to go back.
We're staying in a hotel because we don't have power at our house, and he had to go back and get our
dog because we found out we could bring our dog to the hotel. So he's back at our neighborhood
kind of late and runs into our neighbor. And we, looting is a concern because a lot of our neighborhood
is without power and you can't turn your alarm on. And, you know, we've heard of that. That could
be a concern. So my husband was talking to the neighbor about it. And he was like, oh, I saw the
pale horse mercenary. Or do you have you heard of these people? Okay. I don't even know if I'm
saying it correctly. But apparently.
our neighbor told my husband that there was regularly dressed people, like in civilian clothes,
with weapons arming the neighborhood.
And they were called like pale horse mercenary.
And so they're like for high, I don't know, I try to Google it.
I don't know if this is on the dark web or where it is, but it seemed like they were
for hire and they were assisting the police.
I don't know anything about that.
Okay.
I will ask some people and get some information.
I've never heard of it.
Right, I know.
My husband, like, texts me right away and then got home.
He was like, well, I guess, because he thought, y'all stay at the hotel, I'll spend the night at the house just to make sure everything stay safe.
What if he's a pale horseman's mercenary?
Oh, you don't know it.
We don't even, that's why he's at your house.
Yeah, no, he came back and slept.
I mean, unless it was his off night, but, yeah, I don't know.
He's curious.
If anybody knows what?
So you don't know anything about?
Not at all.
Vigilante justice happening around town?
No, sir.
I don't know that these are vigilantey.
Like, I think you hire them.
They seemed, but I was like, what are they on horses?
They go around, but no, they're just, they had weapons, though, which seems legit.
Does it, though?
It seems like they all have a gun, right?
Does it have, right?
Okay, we're going to come back.
If you guys want to call and ask a question to Trooper Johnson, he has been in the Marines.
He has stayed true.
He's state trooper.
He works and protects the governor.
The guy has done it, though.
He took a pre-workout.
All of this stuff.
It's been a crazy day.
Oh, hey, when you start, you said you worked for a governor before and then a new governor.
Like, did they ever ask you who'd you vote for?
Does it matter?
Not at all.
How about who'd you like better?
You're going to protect.
Like, if you have to go to D.C. and protect somebody and it may not align with your political beliefs.
Can you be like, oh, I probably shouldn't because I don't know if I.
Not at all.
The job is protection.
I don't care what side of the aisle you're on.
I love that.
That's how we should all treat each other.
Absolutely.
I agree completely.
I don't care what's out of the aisle that you're on or your political views.
my job and I have an amazing job
but my job is the responsibility of
keeping a person's life safe.
It doesn't matter who they are
or what it is that they're doing.
I take that responsibility seriously.
Dang.
Love that.
Trooper Johnson is here and we have a lot of calls.
You cool? We'll take some questions?
Yes, sir.
All right. Let's go over to Alicia in Arkansas.
Alicia, he has been a Marine.
Stay trooper.
He now protects the guys.
governor, what would you like to ask them? So I have a seven-year-old and she loves police officers,
has her whole life. And so when we are in town at the gas station grocery store, if there is
an officer around, she will literally run up to them, give him a big hug, she just wants to say hi.
Is that annoying to you guys or do you like that? It's not annoying at all to me. I love being able to
be a part of the community and whenever you get to be able to have that interaction with your
community is memories that will have for forever, myself and your daughter. So her being able to
run up to a police officer and give them a hug and tell them they appreciate them or whatever
it is that her thing is, is a good thing. What if you're in the middle of a traffic stop and a kid
comes up to you? Her kid, by the way. He's also obsessive.
of the police officers and a police officer
pulled someone over in our neighborhood and he was on his
scooter and he was so excited to see the police
officer and he didn't understand that someone was
in trouble with the law and he
pulls his scooter right up to him and he's like
hey what's going on and
he was literally like having
a, like doing a ticket thing
right so I would tell him
just hold on a second I'll be with him in just a minute
I'm helping somebody else out right now or I'm
dealing with somebody else and as soon as I get finished
I'll come and talk to you.
You ever handcuff somebody and forget the keys, lose the keys?
Never.
Oh, man, that'd be cool.
All right.
Thank you, Alicia, for the call.
I appreciate that.
Thank you.
Have you ever, like, cuffed and stuffed somebody?
Put them in the back of the car?
Amy, just wanted to say cuffed and stuff.
That was what that all was about.
Of course you.
Of course I wanted to say that.
But, I mean, it doesn't mean you, you could, there could be a police officer out there
that hasn't had the opportunity yet to arrest somebody, you know?
There is.
Yes.
So.
You ever get someone in the back seat and they're a pretty cool guy?
What's your Instagram?
Like you want to hang out?
I mean, there are times,
the majority of the people that I ever encountered were good people
that just happened to run across each other at the wrong time.
So, yeah, there are people that, I mean,
everybody that I've ever encountered
I only wish good things for,
just these are circumstances.
Let me go to Doug and Virginia.
Doug, you're on with Trooper Johnson.
How are you?
We lose Doug, we still have them.
Permit holder.
Hey, there he is. Hey, Doug.
Here.
Hello.
Re-ask your question there, Doug.
Okay, so I'm a concealed weapon permit holder in Virginia.
In Virginia, when I'm pulled over, the tags tell the officer that I could possibly have a weapon in the car.
Does that make you more or less concerned when you make a traffic stop?
Anytime I pull somebody over, I expect there to be a weapon in the car.
That's just how I operate, always expect.
the most and then if you come out with the lease then then that's that's a better position for me um
with that um if if you're doing your job correctly um you you shouldn't have any issues and being a
permit carrier and and having your tags and all that stuff linked in to letting us know um that that's all
really really good um at the same time i would say for you um let's hope you don't get pulled over for
whatever reason. But if you do, be sure to let the officer, the trooper, whoever you're dealing
with know that you are carrying, you are a permit holder and stuff like that.
It's time for the good news. With Amy. Tell me something good. So in a backyard pond in Michigan,
a family dog named Taya slipped through the ice and couldn't pull herself up. To make matters
Taya's owners, they couldn't get her out either because she was 10 feet from shore. So they had to call
the Michigan State Police for help. And they showed up and came to the rescue.
specifically a trooper named Brett Scotchless, and he saved the dog.
He put a ladder out on the ice and spread out his weight and was able to make it to Taya and then brought her in safely.
That's great.
That's awesome.
That poor dog.
I mean, it's got to be so scary.
Oh, they understand what's happening to it.
That's what it's all about right there.
That was Tell Me Something Good.
Come on, Bobby.
All last hour and this hour so far with us, Trooper Johnson.
who is a former Marine.
He's a state trooper.
He protects this governor and the last governor in Tennessee.
He's been hanging out answering questions.
I do want to grab a couple more callers
because I think a lot of people have these questions.
Like Marley and Mississippi,
hey, Marley, you're on with Trooper Johnson.
What would you like to ask?
First of all, Officer Johnson,
thank you so much for your service.
Yes, ma'am, you're very well.
My question is, as a woman driver,
say I'm getting pulled over and I don't feel like I'm in a safe area or especially
we lost you oh here we go hey I'm not running but can I pull over into a more public lit area
I would say if that if that's the way you feel I would give some kind of indications
turn on my four-way hazard lights or something like that just to let the officer know that
you see them and you're you're going to make an attempt to stop we we as trooper
when we pull somebody over, before we pull somebody over, we're looking for a safe place.
So when we activate our emergency equipment, our lights and sirens to pull you over, we already
have a predesignated place that we deem is safe and we kind of want you to go to that area
that's close by.
I can't honestly tell you not to stop.
Whenever the lights and sirens are activated and somebody's pulling you over, you want to
stop.
But if you don't feel safe, you have to figure out a way to let the office.
or know that you see them and you're going to pull over,
you're just not in a good spot.
Bye.
Okay.
Great.
Thank you so much.
Have a good morning.
It's a good question.
Thank you, guys.
Have you, too.
Have you pulled over a celebrity?
I've pulled over a few celebrities.
Yeah, nice.
Who was it?
You step on my couple.
I can't say, do you sign like an NDA?
You can't say?
Did you ask for welcome?
What's that?
Aspaton.
Aspaton.
No celebrities have been baton.
Yet.
But, I mean, did you recognize them right away?
Or were you like, or did you have to get their license and they're like, oh, my gosh.
You're like, Mr. Keith.
Mr. Toby Keith, is it?
Some that I have recognized and some it took me a minute.
Like, I recognize the face or I recognize the name, but I don't know where or how because we see people all the time.
So there have been a little bit of both.
Oh, hold on.
Let me follow up on this one.
Okay.
Do they kind of hint who they are?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Never.
All of them have been super respectful and super nice.
I'm Australia.
I'm Australian guitar playing country star.
You may have heard my music.
That didn't happen?
Not at all.
Or they give you, I'll give you some concert ticket.
Oh, I don't think about that.
No, no.
Never been bribed.
Hmm.
Dang, not yet anyway.
All right.
What do you have?
I want to know what you have with you.
Like, you came in with two bags.
What is in, what's in the bag?
Yeah.
With me, I brought my radio and earpiece.
I brought a couple different.
What can I play with is my real question.
A bulletproof best?
I brought a couple of little progress with me.
I brought some challenge coins in the military and in law enforcement.
We deal with what's called challenge coins.
And basically, they're exchanges of coins that show who you are and represent your unit or your police agency or your identity.
And in the military, they represent your base or your squadron or your group that you're with.
And you exchange them.
That's how friendships are built.
What is your wife? Go ahead.
Oh, wait.
Is that, my husband has one of those.
He was in the Air Force.
Like, if you're ever approached and you don't have your coin, does that mean you have to, like, do something?
Right.
So coins have, they have a, like, a chain of command or hierarchy.
Yeah.
And the nicer the coin or the higher up the coin will outrank another person's coin.
And if you challenge somebody, that's where the name comes from.
If I challenge you with a coin that I have that outranks your coin or you don't happen to have,
went on you, you owe that person a drink.
Yeah.
Oh, it's like icing with the Smyranoff.
Smyranovs.
Nice.
You know what that is when you ice somebody?
I do not.
Yeah.
Well, I don't either, really.
I just hear them talk about it.
Ray, what's it when you ice somebody?
Yeah, it's just the sneak attack.
If you get up behind somebody and you just get down on a knee, then they have to drink the smirnoff.
They have to chug it.
Okay.
So it's like, get down on a knee?
Yeah.
I'll have to YouTube it.
Well, listen, we, hey, so the Bulletproof vest, do you have to practice?
Do you ever get hit in them?
No, we don't get hit in them.
Damn.
How heavy are they?
I'm sure they're a tester.
Can I wear one?
Yeah, I can get them out and get you.
Can I go over a ride-along?
You have to go through some paperwork and have to talk to people.
I can't just take you out with him.
Wink, wink, wink at me.
No, he didn't wake at me.
I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
If anyone ever wants to come to play with the lights, you let him do that?
No.
Dang.
I drive an unmarked car now, so I don't, people don't really see me anymore.
Well, let me say in all seriousness and all sincerity, we could not be happier that you're here.
We could not be more grateful for what you do.
You know, on this show, we try to over appreciate.
And even then I don't feel like we're appreciating enough because most, if not almost all of what you do in protecting us, it goes unnoticed.
And what we try to do is highlight that.
And so, you know, I know we've had a lot of fun here today.
but one of the reasons I wanted to bring you in was just to show
and let you be the symbol for what we appreciate so much.
It was just bonus.
You were a good co-host.
I mean, you could have come in and dropped a turn.
We'd have been like, this has been great, but you didn't.
You crushed it.
This has been amazing.
Thank you.
I appreciate what you do.
And, you know, I know you're not looking for appreciation.
I know you don't get into your line of work to be appreciated
and have people come up and just say thanks.
And it means a lot when they do.
And, you know, for us, for anyone who's listening,
as I look and talk to you,
I hope there are a lot of other officers out there listening.
I hope there are a lot of our military out there listening that are risking their lives every day.
Even when you don't know your life is being at risk, you're at risk.
You're at risk just by what you do.
Like just from you choosing that line of work to protect, you are risking your life.
I could never do it.
I'm a pud.
And I say that half kidding, but halfway not, I could never do it.
And if it wasn't for people like you, get in the Marines, serving us as a state trooper, a police officer,
we wouldn't be able to live the lives that we live.
And I'm very grateful.
And I thank you for this show
and I thank you for all of our listeners too.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
So, yeah.
And then I also want to wear the bulletproof vest
in a minute during the commercial.
Be honest with you.
What else you got in there?
You got anything that would hurt?
I don't have anything that hurt.
I brought my cuffs.
I brought the most important part of the cuffs.
That's the key.
Nice.
Do you want to cuff one of us?
We can.
Oh, Mike, do you want to be cuffed?
Okay, so just show us how you cuff them.
Mike, just sit in that chair right there
and then you walk up and punch them.
before or after-cooked.
Because he's got to have a reason to cuff him.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So you'd walk up to him.
Let's hear.
So, Mike, you're just disorderly.
He's drunk right now.
He's drunk right now.
He's out of control.
Trooper Johnson is getting his cuffs out of the bag here.
Do these have fur on them?
A little furry?
Like, no.
Oh, no, no, I do not.
Okay.
So, got the key.
Do you always have a key in your pocket, by the way?
I carry a key everywhere ago.
Nice.
Whoa, it's big.
It's like this big, huge...
That's not a little key
Like you would get at Spencer's Corner?
Key, yeah.
Oh.
Oh, look at that.
That's a big...
Okay, cool.
Okay, by the way, you can watch this
on our Facebook channel.
Okay, so there's Mike.
Mike doesn't have headphones on.
What would you say to him
if he's belligerent and drunk?
What would you say?
No, no talking.
Well, then make it happen.
Here we go.
He's now going to lightly cuff Mike.
Go ahead.
Mike is standing up.
Nice.
This is awesome.
Don't resist, dude.
I'm telling you he's bad news.
Do what he says, Mike.
Mike, do what he says.
I want you to bend over at the waist
and turn it to the right.
Bend over?
Sounds like Friday night for me.
Oh, cuffed?
One cuff in?
Nice.
Now Mike, run.
Mike, how'd that feel?
How's that feel?
He's like, I'll take any of you.
How tight are they on your wrist?
Restrain.
Yeah?
Do you ever, oh, now he's going to let him.
Boo, don't let them out.
No, the joke is we leave him there all day.
Why do you need them to bend over and turn their head to the right?
I put them in an uncomfortable position.
Okay.
This right here, it's a lot easier to take off running like this right here than it is.
Like standing straight up?
Gotcha.
Yeah.
Yay, now it's fun.
That's awesome.
Now do Eddie's ankles.
Watch me fall.
Okay, well, we'll get Mike in cuffed and have him walk back over to the table.
Have you ever had handcuffed somebody to a pole?
Oh, nice.
Radiator.
Yeah, just because you got to go do something else and you're like, I'll be right back.
Stay here, stay here.
Yeah.
Leave the car running.
They can break through the thing and then start the car.
And they lock it.
Whatever.
I've seen.
One time, Amy left her car running for three hours in the parking garage.
Yeah, I had a hair appointment.
Just forgot to turn it off.
When got her hair done, came out, car was still running.
Yeah.
Nobody took it.
I love our city.
Anything, would you like to shout out anybody?
Like, you can shout out your wife or daughter or anybody.
You don't have to, but.
Absolutely.
Oh, thank you.
I appreciate this opportunity.
My best friend of love of my life of 13 years is on deployment right now,
somewhere overseas, on VFA 83 and Carrieri Group 3.
So I want all those guys out there that are being deployed a part of the entire Navy forces
to be safe out there.
And I appreciate the work that they do.
All of my detail members and all my family and friends that are listening out here,
thank you for listening, and I appreciate y'all too.
Cool.
Wait, is your wife or your best friend that's deployed?
She's both.
Oh my gosh.
Wow.
Yeah, because he said my best friend and the love of my life.
So you have a six-year-old and you are serving as the governor detail and doing all the craziness you do and your wife is in the military?
Correct.
She's active duty.
Just shy of 20 years.
That's how we met.
She was in the Marine Corps or she was in the Navy and I was in the Marine Corps.
And we used to argue about whose parts were broken and.
Are you all kind of excited for the new top?
gun movie to come out? I think it's going to be really good. It's so good. You can come watch
my husband do it too. We should all watch it together. Wow. Okay, that's amazing. Let me run a scenario
by you. Let's say that I was governor of Arkansas. Could I hire you or do you have to stay in Tennessee?
I would stay in Tennessee. But it's me. Look, it's me though. I would have to be employed by Arkansas
State Police or Arkansas. I don't know what they're called, maybe the Highway Patrol. I'm sure it's just some
paperwork. But across the nation,
and your state police agencies are who protect your governors and first ladies and leaders of the state.
And football coaches.
That happens.
That happens.
Yeah.
Well, listen, Trooper Johnson, it has been an honor.
You have crushed your co-hosting job.
Like, came in and I told him during a break.
I was like, dude, just walked in and just took over.
It was great.
It was awesome.
Watch out, L.B.
Yeah, watch out, LB.
And then also, we just really appreciate what you do more so than you coming in and doing this.
Just what you do every day means a lot to us.
And thank you very much for letting us.
that to you in person.
Thanks.
And I'm also going to take a picture in the Bulletproof vest.
There he is, Officer, Trooper Johnson.
Yeah.
And we'll see you again soon.
This will not be the last year of us.
No, no, come back.
Yes, come back again.

We all have bulletproof vests on
except for Trooper Johnson
who let us wear...
Amy has one that says trooper.
Yours looks awesome.
Yeah, and it's very heavy.
Eddie and myself.
We all have one.
But Trooper Johnson, we have a gift for you, a parting gift.
Come on in, Scoobie, bring this in for Trouper Johnson for coming in today and being a great guest.
And more so...
We have you a special bullhorn that's red, and we all signed it for you.
So when you need to bust some perps...
Thank you.
Use that, baby.
They'll be able to hear me.
Yes.
You let them know.
Or when you have to wake the governor up.
Governor, wake up.
Wake up, we gotta get to a pancake pantry.
This is awesome.
Thank you very much.
You're welcome.
Okay, now we're going to take a picture during this little break.
You can watch us, right, Eddie?
Yes, just on right now.
Just leave it on during the commercials.
Leave it on.
Go to our face.
It looks like you have overalls.
Dude, just a bulletproof vest.
I know, I know, it's legit.
Well, you make it.
It just looks, it looks.
Well, I feel awesome.
I may not look it.
I feel it.
Well, that was great, huh?
Yeah.
Awesome.
Trooper Johnson came in.
Former Marine State Trooper.
protects another governor.
He's two governors in, and we got to
wear his bulletproof vests, and he pulled
out his spikes that they put, and just showed us a bunch
stuff, and got to really
express our appreciation not only for him,
but for a lot of you out there
that do your job protecting us. And so
that was a real fulfilling last
hours, so I'll be honest with you. I know.
And educational. Yes.
And I got to ask about the cavity search,
which I've always wanted to know. You got that one in.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, yesterday was
interesting because you know that
tornado hit the night before and it was so close to amy's house which is what was crazy too
and i went yesterday and what i wanted to do is because i come on to say these are ways you can give
back but what i wanted to do is actually go out and see for myself what had happened and also i loaded up
the truck with all kinds of stuff waters and towels and i wanted to not only donate but be able to
express to our list of how to donate because sometimes people will say something and you're like so that's
not how it works so i went and i drove around for about three and a half hours or so katelyin and i did
and we dropped off a bunch of supplies everywhere
and in a little bit if you're local
I'll tell you exactly how to do
and what was full and what wasn't
but went over to Amy's house too
and they were still taping up streets
like even as we were going to Amy's house
they were still like yellow taping streets
so that you couldn't go through there
yeah there's just power lines and debris
and workers need to be able to get through
and stay there and stay safe
and the church drop off at this high school
I was trying to get to because Amy and I were going to meet over there
I couldn't get there
they had then blocked it off
so I just loaded up her house
stuff. And then her husband was like, I'll take it all, because you guys could walk it over.
Yeah. So we went and drove all the stuff around yesterday. I know you went and walked around.
Yeah. What was it like for you because it was so close to you? Well, for me, it just took me back.
Well, for me, first of all, it was just amazing to see everybody come together. And I think
that's what is some that's the that's what comes from tragedy and to see it firsthand in your own
community just was really special and then you know nobody was worried about you know who believed
what or what color of skin was or where they were from or anything it was just like we are here they
were they were like it was like an example of what it looks like to love your neighbor so that was
amazing and then also for me it took me back to when we were hunkered down in our bathroom and how
not, I did not take it seriously.
I mean, I was on Instagram.
My husband was.
And I think it was just a reminder that I need to take things seriously.
When there's sirens going off, when there's alerts on my phone, there's a reason.
And I saw a couple people on the news being interviewed too.
Like they almost didn't want to seek shelter.
They were outside trying to look at the sky and see what it was like.
And they just really didn't believe you kind of have in your head, we're going to be fine.
Nothing's going to happen.
And thankfully for my family, we were fine.
but there was a moment where literally, like, seeing the destruction two blocks away where
there's homes not there, buildings completely demolished and trees uprooted.
I'm like, that means that tornado was literally right there.
I mean, it's a block away from his house.
And that's what my husband was trying to explain to me when you were in the bathroom.
He was ready to have us hug the toilet, which is what you're supposed to do.
And I was like, seriously.
And so now I think a takeaway, too, is I'm going to forever take things super seriously.
and then also not take any day for granted
because everyone went to sleep that night
not knowing that that's what they were going to wake up to.
There are a lot of ways that you can give it back.
Just, you know, Red Cross, a lot of ways.
But what we're going to do, you know, yesterday, again,
we all went out and tried to do stuff just on the ground here
because these are our neighbors.
But we have our Pimp and Joy line,
which is just go to Bobby Bellens.com,
and we don't keep any of that money ever, by the way,
for whatever we're doing.
we don't keep that money ever ever ever
but we will be donating it at all
and you know
Cookville
like most of the deaths didn't happen in Nashville
there were a couple here
but most of them are in other parts of
of the area Tennessee
there's like 70 people still missing
missing right
just outside of town
like an hour or so away
and a lot of my friends
at the opera last night
I was talking to a lot of them
and they were like you know we went to bed
whenever they were saying it was in Kentucky
and they're like yeah I must not be coming down
I went to sleep and didn't know anything it happened.
And so you can find ways to give back.
And if you would like to, I encourage you to.
If you can, I encourage you to.
You always can't.
It's not always a thing.
But if you're also looking for a way to get back,
we don't keep any of the money from our Pimp and Joy line.
And Pimp and Joy is just, it's choosing joy for yourself in hard times.
It's spreading joy to others.
That's the message.
And so you can wear it proudly knowing that all the proceeds
went towards spreading joy to people that really need it right now,
especially like Bobby said in places like Cookville,
where it is, it's tragic no matter what.
If people have devastation and loss, it's hard.
But on the news last night when I was watching the Cookville coverage,
I just couldn't even, the emotions I was feeling in my neighborhood
with what I was seeing, I can't even, I had empathy at that moment for them,
but I can't even imagine this one woman I saw that was stuck in the rubble
and her entire brick house just completely,
gone, demolished right there, and she was stuck in it. And I just keep thinking of these people
that are missing and their families and what they must be going through. And they've literally
lost everything, including loved ones. And it's so hard. So go to Bobby Bowens.com. If you want
to give back in that way, you can get you a positive piece of clothing to. People will ask you
about it. You can spread the message. It's about choosing joy for yourself or others. And again,
we don't keep the money. It's going to go to help. And we're going to cut the checks.
Fast.
Yes.
So if you're like, well, if we buy this, boom, cut the check, cut the check.
And we're going to get it off.
We know why we are here on this radio and while we are here on your phone or the podcast
or however you're listening.
And it is, we're not here just to be dopey.
We're here mostly because we have built a platform to help each other out.
Sometimes we get to help you out with a good attitude and laughs.
Sometimes we get to help you out with a good song.
Hopefully we're able to help out most people by going, oh, you need help.
We will help you.
And I think that's what our call is to do.
So that's the deal.
Find a way if you can.
And if you'd like to do that, Bobbybones.com,
to get you a pinball joey hat or a shirt or a hoodie or anything.
There you go.
But it's just a big deal.
And, you know, I tell you, because I tweeted yesterday, too,
that I saw a lot of people coming together.
A lot of people.
It's so much so that when I went to two of these stops,
they could take no more supplies.
And you're talking about big areas,
taking all the supplies that can take.
take and they were like we had so many people coming by we're good for now that's great there were two
different places i went to and the people they had to say no to me and to kathlin were like we're so
happy we have to say no because we are maxed and then i went to other places and we're like oh thank god
we need it here and so you know that's all just just we're just thankful that you guys
exist and are out to help others that's what the B team is all about looking out for others yeah and they
really do, like all over, all over the country and even different little parts of the world that,
you know, tune in. It's cool to see everybody rally. Like, not right now this is what we're dealing
with, but, you know, in a few months we may be dealing with a tragedy somewhere else. And it's just
an example of like, okay, we're going to rally together here now and then be prepared to do it again
next time, whatever that looks like. And for some people, you may not be able to get to a donation
drop off or have the funds to go buy stuff and drop off or even have the funds to buy a pimping joy shirt.
you can, if you have Facebook or Instagram, you can post about it and let people know that that's a way they can help.
Bobbybones.com. Thank you.
On my Instagram at Mr. Bobby Bones, I put a picture of Trooper Johnson, who was our guest host.
State Trooper, former Marine, protects the governor. He let us all wear a bulletproof vest.
We all took a picture together, and I got to tell you guys, we could not be dorkier.
Oh, really?
Yeah, it's a Mr. Bobby Bones.
We felt cool, though.
Yeah.
speak for yourself.
Yeah, Eddie started punching us in the vest and it still hurt.
If it can stop a bullet, it can obviously stop my fist.
Last night, Eddie and I, as the raging idiots, played the Grand Ole Opry.
And I host a show called Opry, which we're bringing the Opry back to television.
And so we're recording a bunch of stuff.
And Dustin Lynch is playing and he still showed up, but he was sick.
And so he was like, I don't know if my voice sounds good for TV.
So they gave us a call.
They gave us the old thing.
they called in the idiots.
So we recorded a couple of TV performances last night.
Nice.
Is it?
Yeah.
We'll see how that goes.
Thank you, Dustin.
Mm-hmm.
I thought,
I felt bad for him.
And he still showed up,
but that's the thing about Dustin Lynch.
Like, he could have just called in sick completely.
But that guy loves being a member of the Opry.
And so he was like, man,
I still wanted to come and play.
But Eddie and I went and,
Raging Idiots, did a couple of TV performances.
I think our first,
except for public access.
Yeah.
Our first TV, real TV.
Yeah, that's our first real TV.
performance.
Wow. Were we not on the IHeart festival? No, we weren't. This is it.
No, they don't let us on stuff. Yeah, thanks, Offrey. That's great.
And last night, Terry Bradshaw was there, and I'm shooting some stuff for TV.
And somebody's like heckling me in the hallway. And I'm like, who keeps in it, it goes, hey,
nice hair. And it was Terry Bradshaw. You know who that is? Awesome. I mean, I do now,
because I saw him in your stories, different guy than I thought he was. But yeah.
You thought he was the voice of Patrick Starring
SpongeBob? Yeah. Yeah, it's a different guy.
Coach.
Yeah, from Dobber or from coach back in the day.
Terry Bradshaw played for the Steelers, won Super Bowls,
now does NFL on Fox.
Now that's where I see him on the sports shows.
On this, my husband watches.
So saw him last night.
He was super nice.
I believe after we left, he performed.
He sang.
Did he really?
He sings?
I remember, like, a long time ago when he was playing football,
he wanted to be a country singer.
He would be vocal about it.
Is that right?
Yeah, even when he was a quarterback.
He's from Louisiana.
So that was fun last night.
I had a good night.
This morning it was wild because I had woke up at like 245.
And Caitlin's flight left at 5 a.m.
So I had to drop her off at 4 and then come to work.
Look at you a nice boyfriend.
Yeah.
I totally saw you footing her in an Uber.
Me too, dude.
Right.
Totally.
Why wouldn't you?
Why would I?
Oh.
What?
I'm in an extremely happy, wonderful relationship right now where I'm trying to be
What is the word?
A boyfriend.
I'm trying to be extremely deliberate in everything that I do
because in the past I haven't been.
She did give us crap yesterday, Eddie,
for when we talked about playing them in basketball,
they won all three games.
They did.
Eddie and I did not win against her and Ahmad.
And she was like, oh, it would have been you to talk about the scores.
Okay, they won all three games.
Good.
You want it to be known.
Yeah.
They won all three games.
Eddie and I lost.
Yes.
She's extremely competitive.
But she was here for a week and then she comes back like Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
But it's great.
Like give any questions about that whole relationship thing?
Because you're free to ask me.
The door's open right now.
Okay.
Well, she, I love that you're being intentional and even spontaneous because she was supposed to leave on Monday, was it?
Yeah, Monday morning.
Sunday or Monday.
And then it changed and then she was here extra.
I feel like how was how was the quality time that you all got together?
It was great.
It was a lot.
We, I cannot get enough of her right now.
That's awesome.
I love hearing you say that.
And not in a new way.
It's not new anymore.
Right.
But it's just really great.
That makes me.
Just like a purely great.
It's just great.
And we don't always get along perfectly.
We're not supposed to.
But it's just, it's great.
Mokshed had a better word for it.
It just feels like it's just pure, just pure.
Like it's real.
That makes me happy for you.
Okay.
Go ahead.
Well, she's back what?
Wednesday or Thursday?
Like a week?
A week?
Okay.
What are you going to, what we all do while she's gone?
FaceTime.
We talk every day.
We talk every day.
Okay.
But, you know, even when she was here this time, we really didn't.
We didn't have any plans for anything.
So she was here six days.
The only time that we didn't think we went to Tampa to do a show.
But the other five days, we just hung out of the house, went eight.
Did whatever normal.
All the normal stuff.
Were you sad when you dropped her off?
Well, I try not to be because she gets really sad.
Did she cry?
No, she didn't cry, but I feel her shutting down a little bit.
And so I try to not be as sad because if we're both sad, do.
It just brings it all down.
So I try to be up and she's sad.
But I just, I'm like, I get it.
But I'll just, when you get out of here and be sad, I'll just be excited to see you next time.
But yeah, but it's good.
It's really good.
You should say,
Hate to see you go, but love to watch you.
Ow, ow.
So dumb.
Do you have anything you want to tell us about what you're feeling?
Oh, I think I just said it all, huh?
Yeah.
Bones, do you guys talk about the future at all?
Like, just can't wait until you move here or can't wait until we live in the same city?
Well, of course, we're not going to date long distance forever.
Yeah.
She went back to school and finishes grad school in May.
And so when she finishes grad school, I think there are decisions to be made.
made. We're definitely not going to date long distance forever. So she's open and willing to move
to Nashville. Yeah, I think so. I don't know about willing to move. I don't specifically, I don't think
she wants to go like, I'm ready to move to Nashville. But yeah, yeah. But it's the first time I've
ever thought about anything like that. And being like, yeah, I'm thinking about it. Like, somehow it's
going to happen. Yeah, because before that was definitely a thing of concern where you're just like,
another city, that's, I can't do that. Yeah, he would just say, this isn't going to work out.
Yeah. But now you're in it. So it's working.
I don't know that I've never been more in it, by the way.
You're in it.
That I've ever been more in it.
Wow.
Yeah, what's your observation?
Just a couple of observations I saw like last night.
I mean, our songs are dumb.
Like, they're silly, you know, comedy songs or whatever.
But she knows every word to every song.
We're rehearsing in the back.
And I didn't know a couple of lyrics.
Because I played him at the house all day over and over again.
But, I mean, the thing is, it's cool.
Like, my wife doesn't even know all the words to our songs.
And she loves what you do.
She loves it.
I don't know if that's true.
I think she does.
She doesn't want to listen to the show.
Yeah. Maybe she hears about a fifth of one show a week. And I give her a hard time about that.
But I think we just have good songs, Eddie. Why can't we just have good songs?
Maybe so. I read it all wrong.

Shit.
Baby Blum.
Or you should check out today's show.
Morgan, number two,
what are some things
they can go back on the podcast
and check out?
Well, Amy's husband
wants to take something
out of their bedroom
and she doesn't necessarily want to.
By the way, not a TV.
I thought it would be the TV.
Not the TV.
Something else.
All right, what else?
We had a Stars or Just Like Us moment
after Mike D was recognized
by a country artist in public.
Mike D is just chilling
in a healthy food place
and a big country store.
I was like, Mike D.
Yeah, that was fun.
You can hear that.
What else, Morgan?
And we had Trooper Johnson in today as our guest host, and he answered your burning police questions.
Yeah, and I was like, let me get that cavity search.
And he was like, no.
So that was a whole thing, too.
But it was great.
One of my favorite fill-ins for lunchbox was Trooper Johnson, who had been a Marine, state trooper, protects the governor.
We did many segments with him, so check that out on the podcast today as well.
On tomorrow's show, Amber from Love is Blind will be on the tank mechanic.
She's filling in for lunchbox?
No, she'll just be on as a guest.
No, just as a guest.
Okay, okay.
No, she won't be here because the reunion show is Friday.
Yeah, yeah.
So.
I'm so not, I'm not caught up like I wanted to be because of everything.
Let's go.
Well, there'll be no spoilers.
I'm just curious about the show.
Oh, I'm so pumped.
Me too.
Yeah.
So that's going to happen.
You know who the guest host this Friday, though?
You may not know him, Amy, but Jeff Jared, the wrestler.
I don't know.
Back in the day, it was a big Jeff Jared fan.
So he's going to come.
He'll be at the guest Friday.
but what's going on today?
For me, I'm just going to be back.
I don't know if our house is going to have power today or what.
So we're just trying to figure that out.
And then if not, then we'll do another night at the hotel
and see how we can help around town.
What about you?
Let's see.
Weird work stuff.
I have a rebrand call at 1045.
They want to rebrand the show.
Oh, are you rebranding yourself?
No, they just want to make a call the Bob Bone show now.
I'm getting older.
Bobone.
No, really.
What does that mean?
Visuals, pictures.
Yeah.
Colors.
We have to have to...
Okay.
I'm also, I'm a part of a podcast series that I haven't talked about yet.
It's not my podcast, but...
And they're turning it to a TV show, but Dennis Quaid's coming up today,
and I'm doing this recording with him, and he's going to direct me.
Cool.
So doing that.
I have dinner with a work friend tonight.
She's saying at my hotel.
I saw her.
Yeah.
That's fun.
So, a good night.
I put up some pictures from playing the opery last night, if you guys want to see it.
Mr. Bobby Bones.
Eddie and I played, The Raging Idius, played the Grand Ole Opry last night.
It was awesome, as always.
Thank you guys. We will see you on Thursday's Bobby Bone show.
Tell your friends, Amber from Love is Blind is going to be on.
So we'll see you guys in. Bye, everybody.
Fight.
