Starting point is 00:00:41 they've all dated the same prolific con artist, they take matters into their own hands. I vowed. I will be his last target. He is not going to get away with this. He's going to get what he deserves. We always say that trust your girlfriends. Listen to the Girlfriends, trust me, babe, on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:06 I got you. I'm Agoode. My next guest, it's Will Ferrell. Woo, woo, woo, woo. My dad gave me the best advice ever. He goes, just give it a shot. But if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar. of, you know, the cat just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Listen to thanks, Dad, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hope everybody had a great holiday. Holy moly, I'm so happy to be back. I know maybe you guys aren't happy back at work. No, I mean, it's like first day of school. I love my job all the time. Morning, studio. Morning.
Starting point is 00:02:12 We are back. We are back and ready and motivated and inspired. We're disciplined, all those cool things, but we're happy to be here with you today. Let's go around the room. It's first day. First day back. And so I'm going to ask you a question.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Everybody answered this question here. So here we are, our first show back. I want you to name, and we'll get to resolutions later, something trivial that you'd like to change about yourself. But it can be stupid, but you really do want to change it, even if it's like dumb, right? Eddie, what are you going to change about yourself this year? Not something just the essence of who you are or something that's really going to do. What's going to change about you?
Starting point is 00:02:47 I want to change my belly. And I'm not saying like I'm going to work out or whatever, but I'm really going to focus on my belly. It's hanging over my belt. It's larger than I want it to be. And I just want to slim it down to where my pants don't fold over. I like that. And that's my goal, though.
Starting point is 00:03:04 I think I can do it too. Good job. Eddie's our video producer there, Dada 4. Lunchbox, something trivial that you'd like to change about you this year. Yeah, I want to be more flexible. because I like in life play twister or your body no see that's you can do it both ways in life and my body because I feel like when I get older I'm going to be in big trouble because I am so unflexible I have never stretched in my life like I go run five miles and I don't stretch I play soccer I don't stretch crazy and so it hurt exactly so eventually when I get older
Starting point is 00:03:40 that's going to be a problem right now I'm still young and so it's okay but I need to start working on it now and then also just be flexible in life. Oh, both? All flex all time. Yeah. So I'm going to be more flexible. You're very flexible in life because there's nothing to do. Exactly. But I want to be more flexible.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Exactly. Up next. Amy, everybody. Amy, let's go. Tell us, what's the trivial thing you change about you? Okay, so something that I know is not good to say to yourself, but I just can't break it. And this year, I really am going to make it my goal to cut out, oh, you're so stupid. Or, oh, why did I do that?
Starting point is 00:04:09 It's so dumb. You know, even in my head. I mean, because for one, if I stayed around my house, I know my house, I know my kids hear me. I don't want them to start saying that in their head because our subconscious takes that in and I just want to almost eliminate that word and just not say it about anything. So that way I don't say it about myself. And I've known this for years, but this year is going to be the year that I don't do it no matter what I do. Even if it's something silly like I stub my toe, oh, I'm so stupid. No, I don't do that. What if you hear your car in the parking garage?
Starting point is 00:04:41 No, I cannot say it. Oh, I'm so stupid. Oh, that poll that was already there. It's been there for five years are so stupid. No, I'm just going to see, well, what does this make possible? Right. You know? Amen. There it is. Amen. All right. All right. Ray, do you have a new year intro for me? If you don't, that's okay, because we were just talking about new stuff. Rime on the spot. All right, I got you. Go ahead. He's color blind and he's always on the grind. Oh, Bobby Bones. Did you freestyle? Oh, wow. Oh, he didn't. Okay. My trivial thing that I'm going to change about me is, so I'm very lucky that my hair grows really fast.
Starting point is 00:05:15 and have all my hair. Lucky as could be. Some guys, that doesn't happen. Andy. And I'm lucky that I don't have any gray hair in my head yet. But my, this starts to turn gray on my face a little bit. My sideburns, when it turns into facial hair, turns gray. And I always try to trim it off right at the gray spot.
Starting point is 00:05:29 You know what? I'm not going to focus on that. If my sideburn wants to be a little bit gray, I'll leave a little bit gray. Okay. Whoa. That's a big deal. That's a big step. It's trivial.
Starting point is 00:05:37 It's trivial. Embracing the gray. Embracing that maybe I'm getting older. Okay. It's a big step. Yeah, maybe. I've often felt that I was Peter Pan. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:05:48 But I'm just not going to, it's so dumb, I'm just going to focus on hitting that line. I'm like, ooh, I don't want to hit. Let me shave above that gray line so people still think I'm 28. But you know what? I'm letting it be. So gray is good. Nope, I don't like it still, but I'm just not going to worry about focus on just that right there. That's it's my trivial thing.
Starting point is 00:06:03 That's good, man. Happy New Year, everybody, glad you're back. You can still say Happy New Year. Like today or tomorrow, it should end. Oh, so just like the next few hours? Really? Yeah, you don't go like the 5th and 6th of January 1, Happy New Year. Oh, man. I just agree. I got a few days. No, I think so. Happy New Year, everybody.
Starting point is 00:06:20 All right. Let's get started with the show. We're glad. We're back. Hopefully you're glad we're back. Here we go. It's time to open up the mailbag. You send an email and we read it all the air. It's something we call Bobby's Mailbag. Yeah. Hello, Bobby Bones. I'm in need of help. My boyfriend of two years has yet to propose. We are a blended family of five kids. We live together. when I brought up the idea of marriage, he always pushes it off. He says that I should need a piece of paper to feel commitment. The part I understand is he calls me the wife, but he doesn't put a ring on it and says,
Starting point is 00:06:54 let it happen when it happens. What should I do? I can't live without them, but I want to be married. Signed, waiting on a ring. That's tough because that's cow milk. You know, why buy the cow when you get the milk for free. Oh, yeah. I've heard that.
Starting point is 00:07:10 That's tough because it's not going to just happen unless, both of you are deliberate and purposeful and make it happen. Yeah, I don't understand the let's just let it happen. He doesn't want to get married. Yeah. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to love you. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to get married ever. But he doesn't want to get married right now for some reason
Starting point is 00:07:30 because his actions are that of someone who doesn't want to get married right now. And yep, you're living together. And yeah, you're sharing kids. But there is something legal and not permanent, but more permanent about being married. Because then you've always been married to that person even if you're not married anymore. Right? He just doesn't go away.
Starting point is 00:07:48 He just doesn't want to get married. My advice is just understand he doesn't want to get married right now and figure out why that is and then work. I don't want you to give him an ultimatum because it's just going to be unhealthy, especially if you're happy. You know, you'd be like, we'd marry me or I'm out of here. That's not where you are right now. Sounds like you're happy. Don't spoil that. But what I would encourage you to do is find out why he's with the mindset of if it happens, it happens.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Let it happen when it happens. Like, why is he in that mindset? Figure it out. Diagnose that symptom, and I think you can fix the problem. Now, he calls her the wife. I know. What can she do about that? Can she use that to be like, hey, I'm not your wife unless we're married.
Starting point is 00:08:29 And maybe that'll kind of spark something? I don't think the spark is going to be pleasurable if you do it like that. I think right now she sounds happy and I don't want her to not be happy. And if she's ever ultimatum time, you give it. But I don't think this is ultimatum time. I don't think you even do that. I think you can figure out why, like, deep down at his core, what's the fundamental reason he doesn't want to get married again? It's probably not her. It's probably something's happened
Starting point is 00:08:51 in the past. Yeah, sure. I'd figure out what that is and then start working on that, like making it feel safer in whatever area that is. And then he will want to get married. And then it'll happen. Look a therapy session. Oh, boy. You could, but I don't think I'd go right there immediately. Or five. That's my encouragement to you. He wants to be with you, obviously. He loves you. He does not want to get married. And he's not just wait. to see if it had. He knows he doesn't want to get married. Figure it out. Find out what that issue is and work on that.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Even covertly. And it'll happen, I promise you. Or refund. I don't know what my promise means in the situation. That's the mailbag. Thank you. Close it up. We got your email and we let it on the air. Now it's about to close Bobby's mail bag. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Here's a voicemail from Nicole in Michigan. Morning studio. This question is mainly for Eddie, my sister, who is already an amazing human for beating breast cancer, has decided that she wants to support foster families with respite care, and so she becomes certified. We want to support her in that by maybe having a few things at her home that would make children staying with her more comfortable. So I'm just curious if Eddie has any experience with this, and if he had any recommendations or things, for her that she can do or things that we can do to support her. Thank you for the email or for the voicemail.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Eddie fostered children. Now he's adopted those children. They are now his kids. So when people ask Eddie about this, that's the deal there. You were in the foster program. I was for three years. For three years. So let's do this on two levels.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Let's do the if people want to foster kids. What can they do to get started or what can they go learn to see if it's right for them? Okay. Yeah. In every town for the most part, you can Google. how to foster a child. They'll direct you in these great organizations that help you do that. Churches are a lot really involved in that stuff too.
Starting point is 00:10:49 So it's pretty easy. Just find one that you relate with or one that will help you get in touch with how to foster a kid. What's the hardest thing about it? Fostering. The hardest part really is just trying to be there for the child, but knowing that there's a chance that they're going to go back to their original home. That's probably the most challenging part. So just kind of balancing the love and the care for these kids and knowing that what you're doing is for them, not for you.
Starting point is 00:11:17 What's the best part about it? The best part is you're really helping a child. Like they're in need. They need you. They need love. They need support while whatever situation is going on around them is happening, the court system, their biological parents getting their stuff together. Whatever it is, you are there in that moment of need. They need you.
Starting point is 00:11:34 They need love. They need someplace to feel comfortable. And that's what you're there for. And finally, the big question that she was wondering, how, do you support somebody who is a foster parent? Yeah, there's so many different needs. I think when you have little children, I think diapers is a big one. There's just so many expenses, formula, things like that, that you don't really realize
Starting point is 00:11:52 that you're going to be spending a lot of time, you know, getting from groceries and things like that, but also food. Food is huge. Straight up food. Straight up food. I mean, you have a busy life. We went from having two biological children to having two foster kids at the same time, four boys at the same time is a lot going on.
Starting point is 00:12:08 So whenever someone would bring a meal over or order a pizza for us, we were just like, thank you so much because we had no time to do that. So it sounds like all the normal things, but we'd take for granted sometimes that we pay for the normal things because it's normal for our life. But when there are additions to it, it then costs a bunch more. That's right. It's not a spectacular thing, but it is very meaningful if it's food. If it's like you said, diapers. Yeah, just the simple things, really.
Starting point is 00:12:32 And then the fact that she wants to be a respite is really cool because I don't know what that is. It's just like, you know, if you need a babysit. or someone, you're going out of town for a couple of days, they will watch your kids for you. It's very important because the foster, you know, experience is really tough on a marriage. It's tough on a marriage, tough on a family. So having a respite, you know, available at any time you need them and take care of the kids is really big. And so I love that she's doing that.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Thank you for the voicemail. We hope that helped. And maybe you heard this and you've been thinking about fostering or helping a foster family. Maybe this will kick you in the pants to do it. It's time for the good news. With producer Eddie. make something good
Starting point is 00:13:09 Ryan Carney, he lives in Illinois, and he was dealing with his dad's brain cancer, and while they were going through all that, the dad lost his ability to speak, and it was very strange, and they didn't know how to deal with that, and then all of a sudden, one night the song Stand By Me came on,
Starting point is 00:13:25 and the one thing the dad could say was sing the song to Stand By Me. Like Benny King? Yeah, when the night? So he's like, this is crazy. So he started to learn how to play cello, so his dad would just kind of keep talking and singing songs because that was the only way to do it.
Starting point is 00:13:40 And he realized how important music was to healing his dad. So now what he does is he goes to retirement homes and he plays the cello for people because he realizes that it just makes them really happy and it makes them feel better. And here's him talking about why he does it. I get to help people trigger that chemistry in their heads through music.
Starting point is 00:14:00 It is the absolute greatest feeling in the world. You could close your eyes and just feel like you could flowed away. It's a sweet story, but I hear I'm playing piano. Don't tell me. What was that? Like a Disney song? Chopen.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Somewhere over the rainbow? Yeah, somewhere. That's it, Amy. Yeah, it's good Chopin lunchbox. But yes. Chopin. I did see a video that was super cool. Not this one, but something like it, where people that are suffering from older people
Starting point is 00:14:31 that suffer from dementia or even Alzheimer's, they will go to them and they'll talk to their kids or their grandkids and find out what music they really liked as a kid. and they can play those songs. And it's the closest thing to a, I don't know, this probably is the right term, but like a snap out of it. You can't because it's such a debilitating disease where they actually like remember,
Starting point is 00:14:52 it brings clarity to them because music does that. It hits a part of the brain and that feeling that happens when they hear that song is the same feeling then, and so they're able to connect the two. So really great story. You're not going to believe me, but when I was younger,
Starting point is 00:15:06 I thought I'd do music therapy for a living. I do believe you because you do music. Yeah, but then I realize, like, I'm not smart enough for that. You do music and you're a good guy. Yeah. Maybe you aren't smart enough for. I don't know. Maybe you weren't.
Starting point is 00:15:18 I don't know. Hey, great story. You're smart. Eddie, you're smart. Thanks, man. Thank you. That is what it's all about. That was tell me something good.
Starting point is 00:15:26 New Year, New Year, everybody? Yeah, new year, new me. For sure. That's right. What are we doing? What are we saying is our goal this year? What's your word? Everybody's got a different strategy, how they take on a new year.
Starting point is 00:15:36 I'd like to hear what it is. What is your resolution if that's where you want to go? I'm going to you. Trying is cool. Okay. Because I'm going to try to try some things this year. Meaning, this is what I'm interpreting, you're going to do things badly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Love it. And that's okay. And you got to do things badly sometimes to do things middley than to do things good. Yeah. That is being vulnerable. That's taking a risk. And it's also knowing you can't get great at something unless you spend some time investing in yourself doing it and that comes a lot of struggle.
Starting point is 00:16:04 Good for you. I love it. That's a good one. You're trying. What was it again? Trying is cool. Trying is cool. It is cool.
Starting point is 00:16:10 It is cool. It is. Try. I try all time. It doesn't work out. But you never hear about those, right? People should, and I wrote my second book, Fail Until You Don't, mostly on that premise that if you go and you bomb out on something and you're just like, I'm embarrassed.
Starting point is 00:16:25 And nobody else even knows or they're so self-absorbed. They don't notice or care. I mean, think about the last time you really mess something up. You know it. But think about the last time you saw somebody mess up a speaking deal or fail at something. I'm thinking about it. You've already forgotten about it. Oh, yeah. So just know you have the freedom that nobody's going to remember you messing up. So go and do it. Go fail miserably. And then if you're like, wow, I really think I could do better and I could achieve that because I've learned a lot, keep doing it.
Starting point is 00:16:50 And if not, move on without the fear of people going, oh, that's all Eddie. You know, he failed. He started a taco stand. He failed. I didn't, by the way, though. You didn't, by the way. You didn't, but you probably would. Yes. You started and fail. That's right. Yeah. And that's okay. Everyone won't forget about it. Get it, Amy. What, like, what are you going to try at? Well, I told you all, you know, last year when I was taking acting lessons that a goal was to audition for things, which I, you know, it's not going to happen right here at the first of the year. So, being embarrassed, talking about your desire or your dreams. Don't be embarrassed.
Starting point is 00:17:22 I feel you being embarrassed. Don't be embarrassed. Okay. You should just say it. Okay. So my acting coach is we're going to actually do some taping, which we've never done, where I film myself. and then we'll see about opportunities to maybe audition for something specifically and send that tape off. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Okay, great. Be proud that you are attempting. Because most people don't have the courage to even attempt. So no more hesitancy about talking about it because you're embarrassed about what we're going to react to. Okay? We're still going to make fun of you, but that's what we do on this show just generally. Yeah. Because you make fun like your people.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Yeah, your friends. So we're going to have a good time with it, but just know in our hearts, everybody except for lunchbox is rooting for you. Oh, yeah. I know, but that's just because he's an actor too, I think. He's never had a role. I have. Where? Friday night light.
Starting point is 00:18:07 You're an extra and they took you out. No, no, I was still in it. No, they ripped your... They dubbed over my voice. Bad out of hell. I've had a couple roles. But bad out of hell, what did they do with your voice? They silenced it.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. They take my lines away. I like you. I'm rooting for you, too. You're just mean to her about that. So, you know.
Starting point is 00:18:25 That's okay. She was mean to me. You're going to know. Your goal resolution for the year. Become a millionaire. Okay. You know what? That's doable. Why do you laugh? I didn't laugh at all.
Starting point is 00:18:35 You said, don't mean to her. And the first thing I said was become a millionaire and she scoffed. You're going to do that this year though. You're going to do that this year. It was funny for you to say that. I'll let it too. I wasn't expecting it. Are you close to being a millionaire?
Starting point is 00:18:49 No. Okay, right. And so do you have a plan? Not business. Right. So let's say you started a great business. Yeah. You still this year, it's not going to happen this year.
Starting point is 00:18:58 You don't know that. You're right. You could get bought out. But no, still you have to build it to a point. But hopefully you get one of those businesses that rockets, like, boom. Like, what do you call? Usually it takes more than a year even then. Sky rockets.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Sky rockets. I love it. Hey, set your dreams high? Yeah. I mean, what if your goals are the stars and you end up in the cloud, that's still a win, baby? Yeah. What if I, you know, have a business opportunity to invest in something? And all of a sudden, it just like hot cake.
Starting point is 00:19:22 You still won't get it back in a year. Oh, like what if I get 20% for $10,000. Okay, I don't know. You know what? Do you have $10,000 to give? I can take a loan. Okay. Good for you. Your goal is to become a millionaire. This year. This year. 2023, I joined the Millionaires Club. Like when they put out the, you know, oh, they don't do that.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Millionaires. They do a billionaires? They don't do a millionaires. Do we need to define what makes you a millionaire? Does it mean you have a million dollars in your pocket? In your pocket? You're going to withdraw it all? But what if you spend some and you have 900? If I become a millionaire, I am taking it all out of the bank and taking a picture of it on the bedroom floor. So let me ask this. Are you a millionaire if you have a million bucks in assets, including your house, your car? Well, I don't think the ultimate is worth a million. Okay, but all added up. Or is it cash?
Starting point is 00:20:10 Cash. You have to have a million bucks in cash. Right? I think you could claim it if you claim your house too. No, I think I got to go cash. Okay, good for you. Hey, I'm a, I'm a, yeah, because I don't own my house. Like, I can't.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Like, I owe money. But you have some equity, though. You own your house. No, I don't. No, I do not. He's mad at you. Hey, wow. You do.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Like, if I stop paying today, guess what? I don't own it. Well, that's true. So I do not own that sucker. You have equity. I own the ultima, no doubt. Eddie, what's your goal? What's your dream for 2020?
Starting point is 00:20:38 Hear me out. And Morgan gave me this idea. Because I don't really think of myself ever. So I'm going to buy myself more things. So Morgan was like, if you can buy whatever, what would you buy? And so I'm like, I don't really buy anything. The only thing I pay for is my golf or if I get like beer or wine from the grocery store. That's it.
Starting point is 00:20:58 Stuff you buy for yourself. Those two things. So if I want a boat... One of them's like food. I'm going to go buy a boat. So your goal is to buy a boat this year? No. But if I want to, I will.
Starting point is 00:21:08 You know what I mean? So his goal is to be more selfish. So like, if I'm at the store and I see shoes, I always be like, no, I don't need shoes. I'm not buying those. But this year, if I like shoes, I'm going to be like, those are mine. I'll buy them. Can ask you a question? I like this.
Starting point is 00:21:20 This is great financial planning. A personal question about this. What's up? What I would deduce? Love this. is that you don't get the shoes because you go, I like the shoes, but based on our budget with four kids. Yeah, that's what I said last year. But I can't get the shoes because of the bank.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Yeah, but screw the bank account this year. It's not just a personal thing on you just being so selfless. It's probably a decision based on financials. Bobby, he never thinks of it. I don't, man. I don't know, but I'm not talking about the shoes. So are you just saying you've always had the money to buy the shoes and you choose not to? Oh, I got money to buy shoes.
Starting point is 00:21:54 I'm just like, I have four kids. They want a lot of stuff. Let's focus on them. So I always say, no, no, no, I don't need the shoes. It's fine. I'm not going to get them. This year, though, I'm going to buy the shoes. Do you want shoes or a boat?
Starting point is 00:22:03 Both. Oh. But will your kids have to sacrifice? Well, they have shoes. Hey, we'll figure that out when I buy the boat. You know what I mean? I just mean... Is your goal to buy a boat?
Starting point is 00:22:12 Let's just say that's my goal. Let's go. Let's buy a boat. Then I got a vote, kind of. So, yeah, so that means we're going to split it. No. Our wives already talked about it. I'm not splitting anything with you.
Starting point is 00:22:22 What are you talking about? Dude, if we had a boat, that would be the best year ever. So this just turned into... Yes, I got roped into this buying half a boat. This turned into Bobby's going to buy a boat and I'll, you know... That's what it would be in the end. I buy the whole boat. New Year and you us, bud.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Okay, your goal is to be more selfish. A little bit more selfish. Okay. Let's get that boat. I like it. We'll come back in a minute and we'll get to me, Ray Mundo. Morgan. I just have to stop on that one.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Think about it, though. No, I did. That's why I have to stop. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
Starting point is 00:22:59 You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
Starting point is 00:23:14 This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the sense, scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing
Starting point is 00:23:38 something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me, or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. There's two golden rules that any man should live by. Rule one, never mess with a country girl. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes.
Starting point is 00:24:08 And rule two, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care. So they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed. I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Ego Wadam. My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Nightly, and the Big Money Players Network. It's Will Ferrell. Woo, woo, who, who, who. My dad gave me the best advice ever. I went and had lunch with them one day, and I was like, and Dad, I think I want to really give this a shot.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through, and I know it's a place that come, look for up-and-coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. and he's like just give it a shot
Starting point is 00:25:33 he goes but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore it's okay to quit if you saw it written down it would not be an inspiration it would not be on a calendar of you know the cat just hang in there
Starting point is 00:25:51 yeah it would not be right it wouldn't be that there's a lot of luck yeah listen to thanks dad on the iHeart radio app Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast Last segment, Amy said her resolution was to try stuff, even if she's not good at it. Like to make herself more vulnerable, to really reach, and it's okay if she doesn't get it as long as she tries. I love that. That's how you make things happen.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Fail until you don't. Thank you. You should write that book. Lunchbox, your goal was to become a millionaire. Yes. And this year, though. This year. And you're very close? No, not even close. Okay, cool. Eddie, your goal was to buy more stuff for myself.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Your resolution is like a boat. Be selfish and buy a boat. Okay. Jeez, man. Morgan, what is your resolution, your goal? What are you doing here? So, you know how people do the year of yes? I'm going to do the year of doing.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Like, if somebody asked me to go on a trip, I'm going to go on the trip. If somebody asked me to go out on a weeknight, I'm going to go out. I took all of 2022 to relax and, like, focus. So next year, I'm going to just do everything. Not all yeses because, you know, I still have to work. I have to make sure I'm still a good person. You're going to make an effort to make your stuff. self-available and to experience things that maybe you wouldn't have before.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Yes. You're not going to make as many excuses to not go experience things. Yes. And sometimes I'm a little too logical, so I'm going to be a little pull back on that logic and kind of just have some fun. I like it. Ray Mundo, our audio producer, what you think there, buddy? Yeah, so mine is more outdoors, less apartment floors.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Just because I go back to my roots, I mean, my parents at times would just kick us outside. I wouldn't be inside an entire Saturday. Now I find myself, I'll be like, oh. Really, Beazer, it was sunny today? I had no idea. I wasn't even outside. I'll go days without even going outside. Because we park in a garage. I go to my apartment. It's covered. Boom. Inside, I'm never outside. There's a great benefit in walking places, throwing a football, doing stuff outdoors. So that's it. I like that Ray goes Johnny Cocker on everything. If the glove don't fit, you must have quit. Yeah, he rhymes at all. Go outdoors. Don't eat on the floor. What was it again?
Starting point is 00:27:58 Outdoor, more outdoors, less apartment floors. I like it. Good. Mike D. Our head writer writes all the games. Mr. I mean, he's my backbone. Mike, what do you have? I'm trying to make a new friend this year. Like, outside of people. I'm not good enough. I get offended. Oh, Mike. I just find that I have some interest that none of you guys are into. I like going to punk shows. I like going to watch horror movies. I would like to have somebody else that also enjoys those things.
Starting point is 00:28:22 That kind of person's like a serial killer. It's not. Stasheera. You can hang with her. The dark web. That's where you find those. That is where you find it. This is what I'm talking about. Yeah, you go to those places. Yeah. Okay, I like it. Find a new friend.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Yeah. One? Just one. Just one. How do you plan to find a... Because it's hard as an adult. Yeah, I've tried that BFF Bumble before, but that felt weird. Are you kidding me? It does. It is weird. It feels like you're trying to date a guy. I was like, I like this guy. Am I trying to go on a day with him?
Starting point is 00:28:51 Bones, you've done this too? BFF Bumble? Yeah. No, but I was interested in checking it out, but I felt like two, there were dudes on there to date. they were using it to date and I was like no no no I'm trying to be your friend so I didn't really but I did because I have trouble making friends and have always have
Starting point is 00:29:07 so yeah I don't know what what do you do if you're into like weird stuff like you what do you do to go meet other weird people I guess at a concert strike up a conversation yeah that's tough maybe we just it's so loud do a segment and make Mike a friend that be nice but people don't listen to punk and do
Starting point is 00:29:24 they don't listen to our show you don't know that maybe there's someone out there all right Mike good luck I'm making a friend oh here's mine my goal, my resolution this year is to actually occasionally be bored. Because I run so tight all the time, schedule, how much can I get in? I am not able to cultivate anything creative if I am always pressed. It's hard for me to be always pressed creatively too.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Like I'm schedule, time, okay, I got to get this done. And I can do it and I can function at a pretty high level. But if I'm bored, man, that's one of the good stuff. That's one of the stuff that gets me in trouble, which is the best. to hear happens. Yeah. So my goal is to be bored a little bit this year. Because I'm never bored because I always
Starting point is 00:30:07 am like, God, do the next thing, and I got so much planned. So how are you going to do that? You're going to clear your schedule up a little more? I am and I'm going to make sure that nobody puts anything in these spots. He calendar blocks his boredom. Yes. Yeah, exactly. That's exactly it. I have to, because if I don't, it'll never happen. So is it like from four to five, bored?
Starting point is 00:30:23 Be bored. Yeah. And does that mean we can't play mad and we can't do anything? You just have to sit there and stare at It's me hanging out with really nothing to do. Okay. Getting burned out on the Madden, the books, the whatever I do, that's my leisure. I need to get burnt out on that. Okay. So my goal is to be bored.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Last year my goal was to play golf. And you did that? I did. We did a lot. Because I was like, I have to find, even the doctor's like, yo, you're going to pop. So that's the deal. Okay. Are you worried about getting in trouble?
Starting point is 00:30:58 No, I told my wife. So when you, yeah, don't commit crimes, man, because when people get bored. No, because you said when you're bored, that's when you get in trouble. Oh, I get in trouble on the show and I go bosses. I think of these crazy ideas. We rob stores. That's where my brain is going. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:08 It's my best creative self. So, my, might as to be bored. All right. Happy New Year, everybody, from the Bobby Bone Show. It's a new wrinkle here where my buddy ordered something off the internet, and it came to him, and it was broken. And he said, like, to return this and get another one. And they did. We've talked about this before.
Starting point is 00:31:25 They were like, we can just send you another one. but can we get with you on FaceTime or Skype? And so they wanted to see that the product was broken so he didn't have two of them. Wow, that's crazy. I don't know they could do that. Well, they can't force you to do it, but, and you're not going to break it to prove it to them.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Because then you're still just getting one. Exactly. Unless you could do some, I don't know, but they were like, we want to see you, we want to see it. Is there any chance we can see it so we can send you another one? I'd never heard of that before. And he did it. And it was really broken, so they sent him another one.
Starting point is 00:31:54 And then I think he thinks he can fix the other one, though. So he still, like, cheated him. Yeah, well, they win. Let's be ready, everybody. They're figuring us out. Here's Amy's pile of stories. New Year. That means a lot of people are trying to figure out how they want to live, who they want to be.
Starting point is 00:32:10 And half of Americans want to improve their professional life. So instead of a New Year's resolution, they're making professional resolutions this year, trying to find a new job or working hard to get a promotion. Yeah, I mean, I think we could always do that. problem with resolutions, and we're talking about them today, big, big, big ones is they actually won't happen. I encourage you to make little, little, little ones. Because you can actually do that. And then once you're successful of that, you're like, oh, I can make little changes. And then a few little changes turn into medium changes. It's all about discipline. Motivation is cool. Discipline is
Starting point is 00:32:46 awesome. We get motivated all the time. Can we stay disciplined? That's where it is. So you would say with people that have this professional resolution thing happening this year to just little things at a time towards their career? I would say don't try to do it just because it's the new year. If you really feel this way, sit in it a month and then make a decision based on how your reality is that's not screaming. Okay, you've got to change something to get better because of the date on the calendar. You'll make better decisions and you won't quit if you're doing it for a reason that's about you, not about what people do because of a holiday. But make little, little changes. but still make some sort of resolution.
Starting point is 00:33:22 Make a little change and then do it and get it. And you should be able to figure out like three weeks. If you can't do it in three weeks, don't even do it because you ain't going to do it. You're like, I'm going to lose weight. Okay, three pounds. And I promise you, if you do that three pounds good, five's right around the corner. Yeah. Do five, eight to ten's coming up soon.
Starting point is 00:33:40 You may regress a little bit, but still you're down six. Easier to go back to ten. So good luck, everybody. I like it. I'm not being a Debbie Downer. I'm being a real list, but I think you can actually change your life if you have motivation. but then you must have discipline. Motivation's fine, but discipline is where it's at.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Go ahead. I have some steps towards giving someone a compliment that they'll actually appreciate. So you can take notes next time you're going to compliment someone. Okay. First of all, use their name. See, I gave her a compliment. She's good to give it steps. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I didn't accept to that. Yeah. Thank you, thank you. Amy. Yeah. Amy. Use their name. It seems basic, but when you use someone's name in a compliment,
Starting point is 00:34:15 it's a signal that it's tailored for them instead of just blurting it out. make your compliment specific. Like instead of saying, oh, you look nice today, say, oh, wow. Your butt looks great in those pants. Oh, that's specific. That's what I said to Eddie, but he didn't like that. It was too specific. That's what not to do, especially work.
Starting point is 00:34:34 But that color looks great on you. You should wear that more often. Yeah, I would stay away at work, though, from talking about anything physical. Yeah. HR might have a talk. Are what else? And then don't praise and run. When you give a compliment, stick around and maybe even ask a follow-up question.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Did you like that compliment? Listen to the answer. That's the question. Hey, you did great today. Did you like when I said that? Yeah. Well, this shows the person that you're sincere. But, I mean, obviously, sometimes if you're passing in the hall, you may just have to, you know, praise and run.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Nice fun, no pants. Keep walking. Okay. Okay. I have some things about George Strait that you might not know. Okay. He holds the record for the most CMA awards in the history of country music. Wow.
Starting point is 00:35:10 He has 83 nominations. What? And 23 wins. Wow. Three of those wins are entertainer of the year. Dang. He's not a grandel opera member. I can't be here enough to go.
Starting point is 00:35:21 That's why. Yeah. You have to go a lot. He lives in Texas and you have to perform there like 12 times a year. He's an avid NBA watcher. Loves the Spurs. His ace in the whole band is the only band that's ever backed him. And this is what we have in common.
Starting point is 00:35:34 He has a degree in agriculture. Oh, I thought he's awesome. I mean, oh, are you telling me a Muslim again? Oh, wow. And he's your name. Tell me more. No, I'm good. No, he went away.
Starting point is 00:35:46 I ran. I, Amy. That's my file. That was Amy's pile of stories. Come on! It's time for the good news. With lunchbox. Tell me something good.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Colleen Sands went to UNC Greensboro where she became a nurse afterwards, and she started working at Wake Forest in the cancer department. And after about 10 years, she's like, man, I need to do something to celebrate my career in nursing. So she started training for an Iron Man. And she's like, you know what? Since it's my 10-year anniversary, I'll do an Iron Man and I'll raise $10,000 for the cancer unit. well she put up the thing online raised over $12,000 and ran the Iron Man. And then she did the Iron Man?
Starting point is 00:36:25 Yeah. That's great. That's a lot. That's the one with the three. Yeah. Swim bike run. Yeah, and it's more than a triathlon. So I've done a triathlon.
Starting point is 00:36:33 I'm going to talk week first before I get to real man stuff, real woman stuff. Real woman, Colleen Sand. Real person stuff. I did a triathlon, which you start off and you swim a mile. So I swam a mile. Had a panic attack. Terrible. Finished it, but I was like, I never swam in open water before I've trained.
Starting point is 00:36:49 pool only. And people will be kicking you right. And the face, kick my goggles off my face. Oh, because you're all swimming in a big, like, school. Try to fistfight somebody, but couldn't see him. So who knew who I was fighting? Okay. So I got out of that, and then I went and I ran um, no, I biked 25 miles. So I got on a bike and I rode for 25 miles. And then I ran six miles. And then you finish and you're like, dang, I just did
Starting point is 00:37:09 the most crazy thing ever. Okay, you think until you hear about the Iron Man, which the Iron Man, you swim 2.4 miles. Oh, man. Where I did one. Yeah. And then. And then, you bike. When where I bike 25, they bike 112. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:37:23 And then where I did a six-mile run, they do a marathon, 26.2 miles. Crazy. And she did that. How do you have the energy to do that? How do you train? That's all of it. And that's why they do the running at the end, right?
Starting point is 00:37:33 Because, I mean, you're always not going to just swimming first so you don't drown and die. And you're not going to be on a bike when you're exhausted to you can wreck that. I'd rather be on a bike. I think I'd be on a bike at the end, I think. Oh, really? I'd rather be on a bike again. I just coast.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Just let the wind. I just go to top of a hill and coast. Downhill. That's an awesome story. Good job to her. That's what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good. Hope you guys had an awesome holiday. We're back. We're going to our first morning corny of 2023. The goal is for every corny in this year to make us laugh out loud. Every single one. No pressure. Let's go to a new year, a new batch of corny's and just a better life. What do you say? Yeah. Let's go with the morning corny.
Starting point is 00:38:15 The Morning Corny. What New Year's resolution should a basketball player never make? What New Year's resolution should a basketball player never make? To travel more. I like it. That was the morning corny. You don't like knock-knock jokes, do you? That's funny.
Starting point is 00:38:40 It's hard for that to be funny. That was a good one. You're like taking their credit. Yeah, that was good. Just move on, Amy. Move on. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I just, because I was going to go with a knock-knock, but.
Starting point is 00:38:47 Okay, we hit it, but you can spoil the record. You're 1-0 right now. Okay, I'll save it for tomorrow. Okay, okay. Amy, one and no on the season. We love to hear it. We're back. I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:38:57 I'm always excited to come back to work after time off for a couple reasons. One, I'm lucky that I have a job that I love and get to work with my friends. Two, I'm just, I don't know, I'm tired of holidays. It's tiring, right? It's awesome and you're excited, and then you're just like, oh, man. It's exhausting. So, but just so happy to be back. We've been off for a couple weeks.
Starting point is 00:39:19 And I have some notes. I just took a lot of notes during vacation. Full pages of them of things happening to me just so I wouldn't forget. And I just wrote things. So we'll go through them during the show. Number one, random. Oh, where? Like random?
Starting point is 00:39:33 Yes, sort of. Walmart? No, no, no. So we went down to Orlando to watch Oklahoma and Florida State play in the cheese bowl. Got it. Because Caitlin's a massive Oklahoma fan. That's where she's from.
Starting point is 00:39:47 It's where she grew up. And so we go down and we're walking up in the top area. And there's Toby Keith just standing in like a random Florida state box. And I'm like, well, I kind of know Toby. He doesn't live here so I don't see him a whole lot. But Eddie and I've opened for Toby before. And also that he's out and he's been battling cancer. And I think, well, if Toby's at a football game, things must be going all right.
Starting point is 00:40:11 So I just go and say hi. and we talked for a second, talked to his wife, I think. She was super cool, whomever that was. I just didn't want to bother so I didn't get too much into the business. But he looked and seemed healthy. Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Good. Curious about that. That's great news. So ran into Toby Keith and was like, well, I'll be dang. Yeah, no, I met his wife. That's who that is. Confirmed.
Starting point is 00:40:33 They're married in 1984. She was awesome. I mean, she starred that show. It's like, if you meet my wife and I, she'd star that show. She's funnier. She has got a bigger, like, personal personality. I'm just quiet and kind of,
Starting point is 00:40:44 but Trisha's her name. Same thing. She's awesome. But saw them up there. What are you going to say? Well, I just shout out in 1984. Like that's not really heard of in the artist world. The long marriage, that's true. Also, I wrote down, don't take liberties with the national anthem. Because I was at the Cheez-Zit bowl. Oh, by the way, sorry, Ray put some work into this. Bobby's Notes from the Break. Thank you. Whomever was singing the National Anthem.
Starting point is 00:41:12 did a wonderful job. Vocally, they had it. And I wrote this note because they were adding stuff on. They would be like, O say, can you see? Then you'd hear them go, O'Say, can you see?
Starting point is 00:41:26 What? By the don's, like one singer? Like, they were adding extra background vocals to it. Huh. Themselves. Yeah, yeah, and you couldn't really sing along. And also, you don't really need to add anything
Starting point is 00:41:38 to that song. It's hard enough. It's not just hard. We love it and appreciate it and respect it for what it is exactly. No liberties. No liberties to the national anthem. By the dawn's early light, early light. And about the third time you're going, why are they doing?
Starting point is 00:41:56 I know it's their big break. Maybe they're on TV. They're singing in Orlando and that big, it was packed. Never seen a ball game so packed. It wasn't like a national championship game. What so proudly we hail? Because we hail. We hail.
Starting point is 00:42:12 And so I just wrote No Liberties with the National Anthem and I stand by it. More thoughts on the game. At Florida State, they have something called the Tomahawk Chop. They put their hand up like a shark fin. Yeah. It's like a Tomahawk and they go,
Starting point is 00:42:26 ooh, whoa, whoa. I've never been there when they do it fully. And this game was in Orlando and they're from Tallahassee, so the ball game was super close. It's legit. The Tomahawk chop in person is legit. And I wasn't even at Florida State Stadium.
Starting point is 00:42:40 I was just like right down the road. road. So it wasn't like a home home, but it's close to home. All you Florida State folks out there that listen to us in Tallahassee, I know we're on there, like respect because that's super cool. So do you participate in it? Yeah, did you start chopping? No, no, no, no. I'm an Arkansas fan. I know, but I just, in the moment. No, and also, I was with Caitlin and she's Oklahoma. Yeah. So I didn't do that either, but we were invited into a Florida State suite. So the people were with were Florida State fans and they were dressed in Florida State. but you want to be respectful of people that invite you somewhere.
Starting point is 00:43:13 So we went neutral. Even though Caitlin was Oklahoma, like the president of the school was in there. So you can root and she wasn't like not rooting, but you don't wear opposite team colors when someone is inviting you into their house, which is kind of what that was. And someone who's never giving me crap going, you wear what you want to wear. No, you don't.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Or you don't get invited anymore. It's really nice and kind of them to invite us to do that. And so we wore black. That makes sense. Yeah. and we went on the sideline and everybody cheered and I didn't care that much. I was rooting for Oklahoma a little more
Starting point is 00:43:45 because I live with that Oklahomaness but it was a really cool game and we stood on the sidelines and it's cool. So who won? Florida State won at the end. It was a really good game. Okay, I was no idea. But I was doing Tomahawk chop accidentally.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Ah, see? I knew it. It was just, uh-huh, I'd do that. But there were a couple other things that you don't want to do but you end up doing, for example, after I leave something that's University of Texas. And I love Austin. It's not my place. I spent my adult early life there in mid.
Starting point is 00:44:16 It's my favorite city. And so I'm not a Longhorn fan, though. But I would go to the games and I would leave going, yeah, it's a Texas. I'm like, why am I doing that? And then also, if you do anything, Tennessee Vol, and you don't come, Oh, Rocket Hub, Rocket Up, and you're like,
Starting point is 00:44:35 Ah, stop. the Alabama fight song, same thing. So shout out to all you catchy enemies that have great songs. That they wrote a long time ago. Man, you guys were doing it back in like 1812 right in that. Those are some bops for 1812. So that all happened.
Starting point is 00:44:51 I did watch George and Tammy all but one episode because I guess they're at the finale now that comes out Sunday. Okay. Now, here's the thing about George and Tammy. We did commercials for it, but in the commercial I never said I watched it, there's a difference in me going an endorsement
Starting point is 00:45:04 or voicing something. The endorsement, if I'm really experiencing it and sharing that, I love it and like it, that's actually called an endorsement where I'm like, it's excellent, enjoyed it, you got. But if I'm like, hey, it exists here and you can find it here, there's a slight difference, at least to me, because I'm not going to tell you something's good if it ain't. And so we were just watching shows, we watched a lot of shows. Weather was terrible during the break. So we found ourselves just going show to show to show. And we watched George and Tammy on Showtime. So we added it on to YouTube TV.
Starting point is 00:45:33 and it's George Jones and Tammy Wynette and it's really good I think to get into it though you have to want to know more about them or be a bit of a country music fan you're not going to stumble upon it and be extremely interested
Starting point is 00:45:47 unless somebody forces you to watch like two episodes but I am super interested and I knew most of it but it's good Jessica Chastain is Tammy Wynette she's so good at any character she takes on and I really wanted to be like yeah
Starting point is 00:46:01 I do consider me myself like a historian of country music. I pride myself when they do documentaries on people from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and even 90s, they call me and go, do you feel like you're well-versed enough in Charlie Pride and George Jones? And I am. At least I feel like I am. I've always studied why we are what we are today. Because everything's cyclical, what comes and goes, I love country music, the history of it. My grandmother got me to the Grand Ole Opry back in the day. So, it's like, all right, let's get into it. And he, I mean, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he, he's, he's, he, he was a nightmare.
Starting point is 00:46:34 George Jones was. And I knew he was and I've talked to people. And I'll get to a point with this. And I'll talk to people here now that knew him because he died right when we moved here. Yeah. So people in town that I know had relationships with him. And he definitely had better years
Starting point is 00:46:50 than what's featured here. And even he, I mean, it was really bad. But it's really good. Oh, I'll watch it. She's so good. Jessica Chastain in this. And the guy who plays George Jones, he was in that show.
Starting point is 00:47:04 He's that nine perfect strangers, right? Yes. I like that guy. His vocal effect sounds just like George Jones when he sings. So we were watching it. There's one episode left because it hasn't come out yet. But we watched it all and it's rough, man. You'd like the show because you just feel like you're learning something too.
Starting point is 00:47:20 Yeah, sounds good. Yeah, George and Tammy on, this is not a commercial. I wish I'd have gotten paid to do this. I just got paid to voice that. But it's good. So it's on Showtime if you have Showtime. But what stinks about that is you have to, buy Showtime. It's not on
Starting point is 00:47:34 any of the other apps. That's like a whole other streaming service now. Well, yeah. And it doesn't cost, I don't think what another, I don't know. It's an add on. I added it on. It's stupid. The only other show I watch is Yellow Jackets on Showtime. Because what else is what I watch on Showtime. And so I stopped after Yellow Jacket
Starting point is 00:47:50 stopped because you can just do your monthly thing through your app store. And I was like, I got to go and buy it again. But it's good. That show's really good. Mike, what's that actor's name? Michael Michael Shannon. He's one of my new favorite. actors. Yeah, dude, he's awesome. He's awesome. I had no idea. He's awesome. Okay, well, that's just a, that's a couple right there from my notes. And that was Bobby's notes from the break.
Starting point is 00:48:12 I got a lot, though. I can tell. You're still looking at your phone. Man, I can scroll through all these notes. There are some good ones, too. Somebody on the show message me. And then they were like, it was the worst Christmas ever. All this stuff happened. It was the worst. You know what? More than one person did that. It's a brutal holiday for folks. Just because Well, we'll get to it coming up in a few minutes. It's funny now because everybody's good. But just crazy. Also, Eddie and Amy saw the same celebrity and didn't know you did, right?
Starting point is 00:48:41 No. You guys didn't talk about it? It's a celebrity that if I saw them to, I'd go like, is that even real life? So we'll get to that. And the Bobby feud coming up next, the most common New Year's resolutions. Think about that. Let me roll the dice. The person who will go first will be one.
Starting point is 00:48:55 That'll be Amy. Oh, okay. Amy, you'll go first. All right, next. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.

Two golden rules that any man should live by. Rule one, never mess with a country girl. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes.
Starting point is 00:50:15 And rule two, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends... Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care.
Starting point is 00:50:38 So they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed. I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:50:55 or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, everyone? I'm Ago Wodam. My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and The Big Money Players, network. It's Will Ferrell. Woo. Woo. Woo.
Starting point is 00:51:15 My dad gave me the best advice ever. I went and had lunch with him one day. And I was like, and dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through. And I know it's a place that come look for up and coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved.
Starting point is 00:51:38 And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck.
Starting point is 00:52:02 Listen to Thanks Dad on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. for the Bobby feud. That's right. The question is the most common 2023 New Year's resolutions. 2000 Bobby Boncho
Starting point is 00:52:21 listeners were asked. What's your resolution for 2020? Can you name the top ten answers? Amy, you're up. Okay. Work out more. Show me. Exercise.
Starting point is 00:52:33 Work out. Number one answer. One point for Amy. That is exercise or lose weight. Okay. Well, I mean, lose weight's in there. So I don't know, but you could still want to eat better. It may not have anything to do with weight loss.
Starting point is 00:52:47 Just nutrition. Nutrition. Eat better. Eat better. No, I'm sorry. That's not on that. What? Wow.
Starting point is 00:52:56 I'm shocked. Well, I think that's part of lose weight, though. Yeah. Because there's nothing even close to that here on these other ones. Okay, good to know. Lunchbox. Yeah, get your finances in order. Be more budget conscious.
Starting point is 00:53:09 Good one. I'm going to need you to be more specific. Save money. Show me save money. Number two answer. Good job. Oh. That's good though.
Starting point is 00:53:22 That's good though. No, number two. Good. Okay. The most common 2023 New Year's resolutions. We'll go around three times. First round, all the points are worth single. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:34 I know this one. Go ahead. I saw this one. Someone posted it, so I know they're doing it. They're going to read more. Show me read more. Number seven answers. Good job, Black Yards.
Starting point is 00:53:43 That's good. Okay. I saw another one post this, said goodbye to Facebook because they're going to do less screen time. Less screen time. Oh, I thought that was good. Mine is always more screen time. Oh, man. Eddie, over to you, final person here in the first round.
Starting point is 00:54:01 The question is, what's the most common 2023 New Year's Resolution? We asked 2,000 of our listeners online. We said, what's your resolution? We categorized them up, and here we have it. I'm going to say Call your friends more often I have that Yeah
Starting point is 00:54:19 I have it, though I understand that But I'm saying that's a good one Take out of the phone Call your friends more often Oh Oh Bad one
Starting point is 00:54:29 I told you not do that one You didn't have that one anymore I didn't have that one on my list I'd scratch that one out Dang We're down Around number two Which means all points are
Starting point is 00:54:38 Doubled Amy At the beginning of the year People want to get organized That's a good one. That's so good, Amy. I didn't have that. Get organized. Like, declutter your life.
Starting point is 00:54:48 Yeah. Show me organization. Oh. There are three answers off the board. Number one was exercise I lose weight. Number two is save money. Number seven is read more. Lunchbox points are doubled.
Starting point is 00:55:02 Okay. Yeah, everybody at the beginning of year, they're all motivated at that job. They're going to go for that promotion. Yeah, that's good. That's good. Show me, go for the promotion, or get a new job?
Starting point is 00:55:14 The number 10 answer. That's worth 20 points. 20 points, let's go. Wow, wow, wow. All right. Now you're in trouble. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Guys, New Year's resolution. I'm going to get out of my house. You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to spread my wings. I'm going to travel more. El Travelo! Wow. Nine points.
Starting point is 00:55:43 That's where they do. That's number five. Don't yell your points because it ain't right. It's worth five. So it's worth 10. Okay. Doubled up, it's 10. So good. He's got 39 points now.
Starting point is 00:55:53 He's rocking and he's rolling. Okay. What else are you going to do now? Ah, you are going. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. This is it. You're going to be more cleanly. You're going to cleaner.
Starting point is 00:56:06 Is this for you? Wait, what? Take showers? More showers. Clean your house more. Show me. Lunchbox is going to shower. Even if it's wrong, he's committed to it.
Starting point is 00:56:14 Right. here on the air. Okay. I did say you know I showered last night. Nice job, buddy. Good for you. Nice job. Eddie. Oh my gosh. There are five answers still on the board. You have no point as of right now. 2,000 Americans were asked. Those Americans are listeners. What's your
Starting point is 00:56:30 resolution for 2023? I got it. I got it. This is huge. Pick up a new hobby. Let's go! That's actually good. That's good. I know it's good. Learn a skill or new hobby? Yeah! Number nine answers. Oh, that's what? It's 18? Let's go. Okay, now I'm in trouble. Let's go with volunteer more. They want to volunteer. Give back. No one says that crap. Somebody does. He wants to give back. He wants to volunteer. He wants to be a better person. He's committing to this. Show me that. Nobody wants to be a better person. Final round. Maybe it was 11 in their base list. Final round. There are still four answers on the board. Amy, you have one point. Yep.
Starting point is 00:57:13 All these point totals are tripled. Okay. All right. People want to stop snoozing. Stop snoozing. Wake up when the alarm goes off. Okay. Show me stop snoozing.
Starting point is 00:57:32 Amy, I'm sorry. With one point, you're eliminated. Yeah. Amy, you had stop right, but it stopped boozing. Drink less. Oh, that's so good. Of course. Yeah, dry January.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Yeah, dry January. Booze less. He says drink less. Dang. Eddie, there are four answers on the board. You can win this thing, but you need a couple answers here. All right, I got it. You have 18.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Lifebox has 39. Go ahead. Points worth triple. Everyone wants to start their day off earlier. So give me wake up earlier. More rest. Let's say more rest. Wake up early.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Go to bed earlier? More rest? I'm sorry. I'm going to be my year. Let's go. We'll play your song on one second. Here the answers you didn't say. At number three, it was, be happy. At number four, you said save money.
Starting point is 00:58:32 I needed you to be more specific when you said financial or whatever you said. Save money was right. And so it was pay off debts. That was two separate things. Spend more time with family. And at number eight was quit a bad habit. But play the guy's song. 2023, welcome.
Starting point is 00:58:53 And they stay there. And they stay there. It feels good to be back. Guys, I'm so glad we're back at work. I don't need vacay. We're back. Okay, he said it. No vacay this year.
Starting point is 00:59:04 Oh, let's see what you do. We're here. Thank you for being here with us. Hope you had a great break, however long it was. I'm back. I'm excited to be back. It's time. for the news.
Starting point is 00:59:16 Bobby's Big. Stories. Amy, how much, and when did you hear about the football player last night? Oh, I heard about the football player this morning. Okay. So I was watching the game last night. It was a big game. It was Buffalo and Cincinnati, both teams, going into the playoffs, jockey in for position
Starting point is 00:59:33 in the playoffs. And so I'm watching the game, and I'm also working a little bit. And as a player goes down, but people get injured all the time. and they cut to commercial and they come back and they carry the guy off and the crowd claps or if it's real bad they drive a little card out and they get them and hopefully you wait for they give their thumbs up like I'm okay it looks bad but I'm okay that's kind of what you expect I've never seen an ambulance drive on the field before ever an NFL game on TV and so what happened was they threw a ball to T. Higgins who's a wide receiver
Starting point is 01:00:07 it just looked like a normal play in that it wasn't like one of these hits where he goes boom you're like oh golly he took his hat off it wasn't it wasn't like that it was a tackle but you see demar hamlin take him down it's almost like if i'm the receiver and i go on under your chin and you kind of pull me tackle me that way like i'm coming out you take me down yeah you see him make the tackle he gets up takes a couple steps and then boom collapses and so what we didn't see because they kind of blocked it and they make sure they didn't show it once the ambulance comes out there they spent 10 minutes giving him CPR on the field and the players are crying I've never seen anything like it in all my lifetime of watching live sports well because it wasn't like an injury
Starting point is 01:00:53 from the tackle he went cardiac arrest but from the tackle oh okay I didn't know if that was a like some sort you know sometimes it possibly could have been but it's from the tackle okay because it happened and then he got up and then collapsed again okay so the camera's on nobody really knows what to do. They go to commercial and stuff because how many times can the announcers go, oh, it looks bad. We don't know what's happening. Ten minutes they gave him CPR on the field. Players are crying. There was a thing where it's like, well, they're going to, they said they have five minutes to warm up. They're going to get back to the game. And then the coaches went across the field. They're like, now we're not playing. You can't make us play. And so they went in the locker
Starting point is 01:01:30 room. And they didn't update a lot through the night. But what we have is Buffalo Bill safety to more Hamlin's in critical condition. After collapsing on the field in the first quarter of last night's game against the Bengals, the game was postponed. It was just called, which was the right move. There's no word on when they're going to start the game back or if they're going to start the game back. But more importantly, there's really no word as of, we read this right now, on his condition.
Starting point is 01:01:57 They did say cardiac arrest. They did say his vitals last night were back to normal vitals, but they had to put a tube in his throat and he's in critical condition. A lot of fans from both sides are outside the hospital. It's a really sad situation. And there's a lot of sadness everywhere. And we talk about the news a lot, and there's some stuff we talk about, and we were very sensitive to it. We feel that some were desensitized to it because it happens all over.
Starting point is 01:02:22 But this was a weird one. Because it's never happened, I just felt terribly sad. His mom was there, family was there. They waited to get them in the ambulance. It's just a wild situation. How old is he? 24? Yeah, second year in the league.
Starting point is 01:02:36 Yeah. So that's what I was wondering about it would this, would you, would it have happened even if he wasn't playing? No, I don't think so. You don't? Okay. Maybe at some point, but it happened directly because of this. Whatever, this happened and triggered whatever that was. That just always freaks me out about our organs.
Starting point is 01:02:53 We don't know what's like really happening. It's a hardcore hit. I mean, it was, I mean, you're talking about great athletes slamming into each other. And people are going, well, why are people getting injured so much now? Well, because everybody's getting bigger and faster and stronger. And then when you're bigger and faster and stronger and you keep slamming in each other, those slams get to be harder and harder. That makes sense.
Starting point is 01:03:10 So, aside from that talk, it's just like you're just pulling for him to not play football again, to live. His charity, which he did a toy drive, and he was like looking to raise like 20,000 bucks or so. People found it online. It's made like a million bucks now. Oh, that's awesome. It was like $8,000 or something when I saw it right when people started to catch on. And as of early this morning, because it may be more than that, it was over a million bucks. Wow.
Starting point is 01:03:35 So pulling for tomorrow Hamlin. Really sad story. I thought the announcers last night did a great job of handling that because there is no book on. This is what happens when you have to postpone a game because somebody might have died on the field. That's that. Over to some good news, the North Carolina woman went out for a biscuit. During the break, ended up winning $700,000 in lottery. She purchased a biscuit along with a $10 triple seven lottery ticket.
Starting point is 01:04:00 When she arrived at home, she discovered she'd won $700,000. Oh man. We going to commercial now? We are not. I got to go get a biscuit. Barbara Walters, legendary news anchor, died at 93 years old. I didn't realize she was that old.
Starting point is 01:04:14 I didn't either. Me neither. And it's sad when somebody dies obviously. But when they're like in their 90s, wow, it's at 3.4 million in the toy drive right now. Wow, that's awesome. When they're in their 90s, you're also like, good job. Yeah, she made it to 93.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Yeah. It's awesome. So she began her national broadcast career in 1961 as a reporter. She really, like, kicked open doors for women in general and in media. Like, big pioneer, did a lot of things that only men were doing. Rest in peace to Barbara Walters. One of our most common dreams is a person's teeth falling out. This is from the Committee of Sleep by Deidre Barrett.
Starting point is 01:04:51 According to dream experts, if you're having this dream, it's not just by chance. You may be preoccupied with how others are perceiving you or how you view yourself, and especially more so at this time. it may also be related to your eating routine. So there's a lot of maize. And also everybody cares a little bit about how they're viewed. Even if you're not super sensitive to it. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:05:14 Everybody cares a little bit in some way. But that's apparently if your teeth fall out. And I've had that a couple times. You've dream that for? I've heard it can also be stress. It can be anything. You can just say whatever you want. Nobody can prove it.
Starting point is 01:05:28 Literally. Literally. It's like saying you died and came back to live. You can't prove it. You can't prove if I did or didn't. Yeah. I just talk to your uncle. In heaven?
Starting point is 01:05:36 Yeah. Prove it didn't. It's just a lot of that stuff you can't prove. So, but that's what it says. The only dream that I've had a whole lot of my life is running from a witch. Whoa. That's weird. That one, like running, always being chased by a witch.
Starting point is 01:05:47 Oh, no, let me Google that one. And then not being able to fly, but being able to bounce for long. It's like, it's like a jump. I just like, ah, but then I have to come back down and brace and jump again and float for a long time. I have that one more than anything, that one. Huh. That's like a video game. Yes.
Starting point is 01:06:02 Those are normal dreams. The dream I have the most is somebody breaking in my house, killing me and murdering me. That's a nightmare. That's not a dream. But I have that 100 times a year. Yeah. So in other news. Kentucky woman wins $175,000 on a stack of lottery tickets that she picked up in a white elephant gift exchange.
Starting point is 01:06:21 Nice. After her colleague stole the original choice of hers, which she had picked a $25 T.J. Max gift card. Wow. The other person comes over and takes the gift card and gives her the lottery tickets, and she ends up. winning $175,000 in lottery tickets. And whoever donated those to the white elephant gift, they probably have PTSD. Stop. No, seriously, you would be sitting there going, oh, my God, that could have been my money.
Starting point is 01:06:42 I could have a hundred and say. But if you don't normally buy lottery tickets for yourself, I don't think you're saying that. You go into depression. You hate that coworker. I mean, every. Now, does that coworker think I should give the person some money? She might. Maybe, but not much.
Starting point is 01:06:57 That's just a goof gift, and you know it could win. and you're probably not buying those lottery tickets for you. You're buying it as just a one-timer, so you're not going, oh, I should have kept those that time. No, you're never buying them for you. But that's pretty awesome to win those there. Wow. Are you living in your dream home? If yes, you're one of the lucky ones, most people never do.
Starting point is 01:07:16 94% of Americans say they are not living in their dream house because they can't afford it. Most agree that it was a home, and if they dreamt it up, it's not attainable. I mean, yeah, I'd like a, like a... Yeah, who's living in their dream home? and a helicopter. You're never living in your dream home. Slide down. But I don't even know what a dream home.
Starting point is 01:07:34 I don't even, that never pops into my mind. Like, you can design a dream home. That's not even a goal because it doesn't even feel like a real thing. And also it sounds like it take forever. Oh, I'd have two dishwashers. That's it. That's your dream? I would have, yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:50 That's crazy. And a laundry room that's like really big that you can do lots of things in. Yeah. Laundry? What else you're doing in there? I'm like you're doing what kind of stuff. No. Like a wrapping presents station. I would have a big screen to play Madden on in NBA 2K because the two games I play.
Starting point is 01:08:09 But I'd also like to have a big screen where I watch all my games at the same time. Ooh, like a sports book in Vegas. I'd like a sports book room. That's what I want to call it. Yeah, that's good. Because I don't have, I mean, I don't even have two screens. So I flip my laptop open and I put it on YouTube TV and I watch games while I play Madden. And one of Caitlin's friends came over.
Starting point is 01:08:28 she hears me talk about playing madden. She's like, I expected some cool room. She goes, it's just a crappy guest room with a small TV. I'm like, yeah, I know. Tell me about it. So, there you go. A bride missed her own wedding, lost thousands and spent New Year's alone after Southwest canceled her flight.
Starting point is 01:08:43 It's from insider. Yeah, it's a pretty common situation. Yeah. That stinks. It was her wedding. A bride said you cried all morning on a wedding day after she missed the event. Man, if she's waiting that close, though, to get there. Yeah, that's going to her fault.
Starting point is 01:08:54 Yeah, a couple days out, you just get in the car and drive. Maybe she had a word. entry too, I think. Well, you float then. Yeah, get on a boat. Katie Dimko, who lives in St. Louis, told insider that she and her fiance had planned a destination wedding in Belize. There you go.
Starting point is 01:09:08 For Friday. He went to Belize ahead of her, and she planned to take a Southwest flight on Tuesday with her, you can fly Southwest to Belize? I don't know where Belize is either. What country's that? South, close to Mexico. Yeah, yeah, it's like Central South America. I think Southwest goes to Belize.
Starting point is 01:09:23 They didn't know that. They recently added it. I believe it does. Ah, good one. Wow, look at that. And I didn't know Belize was a country. I thought that would be a city. It's down there.
Starting point is 01:09:31 Yeah, it's down there. Man, I was right there by it when I had shot snake in the grass. Yeah? Yeah, it's right by Guatemala and Honduras. Not that I thought I would even know what that was until I went down there. No idea. Anyway, so just before a flight was supposed to board, she said the captain announced it been canceled. That stinks.
Starting point is 01:09:47 Yeah, it stinks. She lost a bunch of money. I'll be honest with you. Can you not drive that, though? It's connected. Yeah, it's definitely land. Nothing safer than New Mexico City drive. I have Mexico.
Starting point is 01:09:59 Yeah, it's not safe. Avatar, Way of the Water hits $1 billion globally. The fastest 22 released to reach a billion bucks. We'll get a movie from Movie Mike tomorrow watching Avatar. Netflix adds 46 workout videos from Nike. That's cool. It is cool. I thought the same thing.
Starting point is 01:10:18 To provide 30 hours of fitness as the company prepares to crack down on password sharing. Netflix has teamed up with Nike to provide its subscribers with workout videos. Yeah, so if you have Netflix, you can just work. That is good. I like that. I don't know why that's so exciting to me, but that's pretty cool because most I have to pay money if you're going to get on any service. I guess you get on YouTube, though, and there's some free ones there. But on Netflix, you know, they're going to be legit and buy legit people. Not just Harriet.
Starting point is 01:10:41 Hi, I'm Harriet. All right, what else? I got a question about the Netflix sharing passwords. What if you have multiple homes and you know, you travel? Like you're a jet setter. Can you not log in at your other house? How are they going to know? So, because I need to know this.
Starting point is 01:10:54 I'm glad you asked. I have YouTube TV now because I like. to watch all these games on my phone. It's the best, by the way. We'll watch it at home as well. YouTube TV's great. They say, oh, it looks like you're not. Because you have to declare where you are and where you live
Starting point is 01:11:06 because they show you local news. And so they say, okay, what do you live? You type it in. If you're somewhere else and you watch, they go, hey, are you just visiting this place or did you move there? And so you're not going to be able to go just move there constantly. Every time you're moving.
Starting point is 01:11:18 So that's how they know. And that's how Netflix will know. And that's how everybody will be. Got it. Because, I mean, I'm still on my in-laws, so I need to know how I'm going to get around this. well pay for it they just say they're visiting
Starting point is 01:11:28 but you can't do that a whole bunch you can't go you're constantly visiting eventually it's going to say you're not wherever you are you're not visiting and they're going to cut it Elon Musk becomes the first person ever to lose $200 billion Oh my gosh
Starting point is 01:11:40 But the headline is he had it to lose Yeah that's true Like what is that us losing like $20? Does that hurt? Does that hurt him? Probably his pride Yeah But I don't think he feels it Because now he only has like
Starting point is 01:11:52 $100 billion How do you lose $200 billion His net worth peaked at $340 billion, but he's lost $200 billion now. The decline included an 11% plunge on Tuesday with Tesla having a halt production in Shanghai. Well, there you go. And finally, the NCAA football national championship game is set. It is, uh-da-da-da-da-Georgia in TCU. TCU with a big win.
Starting point is 01:12:18 People didn't expect them to win. Yeah, good for them. The national championship game will go down Monday at 7.30 p.m. between TCU and Georgia. The Bulldogs right now favored by 13 and a half points. That is from ESPN. All right, that's your news. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:12:31 Those were Bobby's big. Stories. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.

There's two golden rules that any man should live by.
Starting point is 01:13:45 Rule one, never mess with a country girl. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. And rule two, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girl. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of The Girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck.
Starting point is 01:14:11 I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care, so they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed, I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the Girlfriends. Trust me, babe. on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 01:14:38 What's up, everyone? I'm Ago Vodam. My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network. It's Will Ferrell. My dad gave me the best advice ever. I went and had lunch with them one day, and I was like, and Dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings.
Starting point is 01:15:02 I'm working my way up through and I know it's a place that come look for up and coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know.
Starting point is 01:15:32 The cat just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Listen to Thanks, Dad, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. You guys both saw the same celebrity. Who'd you see? Dog, the bounty hunter.
Starting point is 01:15:49 Oh, that's cool. Where'd you see him? I saw him from the back right when I walked out of the airport and I saw this blonde hair. Look at that lady. She's wearing a vest. No, like all black. And I knew right away. And I thought, that's the dog the bounty hunter.
Starting point is 01:16:05 So I got up my phone. And he was just standing there. And I thought I should go over and just say, hey, dog, let's take a selfie. But I just filmed him from afar. And then his black car pulled up to pick him up. And I was like, dang, miss my shot. Oh, well. By himself.
Starting point is 01:16:18 No, some lady was with him. I think he's married. You do. Maybe that was her. And you saw him too? I saw a dog the bounty hunter. You guys didn't see each other? No, it's weird.
Starting point is 01:16:27 And I guess you saw him in the same place, Amy, because I was picking up my parents at the airport. And what I saw was dog, this lady, standing with probably six or seven bags on a cart. And he was waiting for his ride. Bones, I was two seconds away from being like, roll the window down. Hey, dog, you need a ride? That would have been a great story. That would have been amazing. But, you know, I didn't have room because I was about to pick up my parents.
Starting point is 01:16:49 Yeah. The parents would have understood. They had a couple days to be here. Yeah. Any idea what he was doing here? No. No clue. Man, that had been a cool one to see because you know for sure it's him.
Starting point is 01:16:57 Oh, yeah. And it's funny. Like celebrities, they go into. guys, they wear hats. Not dog, dude. He wore his sunglasses, the ones he always wears, the mullets out. It was dog. That's fine. The travel situation was a nightmare for a lot of people. We're lucky that we didn't have to go anywhere far, because our whole circle is Nashville to near Tulsa, down to central Arkansas, back to Nashville. So although it's annoying to drive nine hours on one of those legs, it's never more than that, so we could drive it. But the ice storm,
Starting point is 01:17:28 the computer breakdown of Southwest. It was just miserable. People got trapped all over the place. You got trapped. Oh, it's the worst travel experience of my entire life. And I've traveled in multiple third world countries. So. I'm telling you, I cried so many times.
Starting point is 01:17:44 So what happened to you, though? So you just tried to fly out and your flight was canceled? On the way there, it was bad. I left the day Nashville was like negative 1 degrees or something and it was snowing. I'm surprised. And I had a morning flight. I surprised I made it to the airport. I get to the airport.
Starting point is 01:17:57 Everything seems like on time. but we sit at the terminal for two out, like at the gate for two hours. And then they're like, all right, you're going to be able to board, but use the bathroom now because the toilets are frozen, and you're not going to be able to use old ones. I thought they stopped flights if the bathroom was broken. Same, but I think they had to just keep moving. They did that thing I do to you guys.
Starting point is 01:18:15 They rolled their finger like, you know, guys got to move on. Let's go get the plane going. Yeah, frozen toilet water are fine, so everybody's going to bathroom. So we go to the bathroom, but then we board the flight and we sit on the tarmac for over two hours. And I'm like, well, anybody that need? Right. And then we're going to be in the air for over two hours. I'm like so much for that bathroom break. And you were going to Colorado to your family. Yeah, Denver and then a different flight to get to Durango, which is a smaller town. Well, I get stuck in Denver.
Starting point is 01:18:41 Because I met my two hours on the tarmac. But you got up after the two hours. Wow. Surprised. Yeah. Well, so it was a four hour wait in total. And then when I landed in Denver, I'd miss my connector. And so they had to like get my baggage from going to the other city. And so I wait and alive for like an hour and a half. half for them to tell me they have my luggage. No worries. Okay, great. When can I have it? They're like, eight to ten hours. And I was like, wait, what? You're telling me my luggage is here at the airport. So it was crazy. And then I had no flight out. Nothing was canceled. So my, my brother-in-law drove five hours to Denver to pick me up and then five hours back. We spent the night at a, it was- He drove five hours to pick you up? Mm-hmm. Yeah. That's a really, that was also when I, and his dad even had volunteered. Because the rest of my family was already in Colorado. they'd been there like two or three days, well, three days before me.
Starting point is 01:19:32 So it's just a mess. Were people rude to the people working there that had nothing to do with the delays? Yes. Some people were so kind and that was cool to see. And then other people were a nightmare. And I thought, this person working here at the airport, this is not their fault. You need to stop yelling at them. But I was proud of some of the airport people standing up at themselves.
Starting point is 01:19:50 They were like, you have no idea we're understaff. I mean, but they kind of said in a kind way, but firm. Like, have some respect. We're doing the best that we can. They didn't break it. Yeah, they didn't cause it. You're just looking to take out your frustrations on something or somebody. Right, just go to the corner and cry like I did.
Starting point is 01:20:05 Oh, yeah, cry. And then go to the airport bar. But like you did? I did all those things. And that was just on my way there. The way home was worse. Yeah, there's a whole, I want to get to that too, but I want to go to Eddie, who also, because both you guys had terrible holidays.
Starting point is 01:20:19 Yeah. What happened to you? So we were supposed to go to Texas the first part of our break. And the night before we're packing, my little boy gets sick. the baby, the three-year-old, he gets sick, he starts throwing up. And we're like, it's okay. You know, if he gets sick, we'll give him a little medicine, we'll get on the flight. Well, at 3 o'clock in the morning, we all get sick.
Starting point is 01:20:38 I can hear everyone in the house going, bleh. Oh, no. So the whole family got sick. We had to postpone our trip to Texas, but my wife and the baby never got better. So we got to Texas, we had to go to urgent cares over and over. How did you get there? Do you drive or fly? We flew.
Starting point is 01:20:53 And you got there okay. We got there okay because this was early. Now, we tried to fly back on Christmas. That's when the delay started happening. Were you sick the whole time? Because you're at somebody else's house, like in-laws or something? We're at my in-laws' house. And your wife was sick the whole time?
Starting point is 01:21:05 She was sick the entire time and the baby was sick the entire time. And then some of the other family members started to get sick. So now they're just like, oh my gosh, you came and you got us sick and we're like, I don't know what to do. That's a miserable few days. When you're somewhere else and you're not feeling good, because it sucks to be home. But at least you're in your own stuff. You can fart in your own covers. Right.
Starting point is 01:21:24 No, we're in somebody else's house. You're somewhere else's that's, oh. And Eddie got on the, you. You guys got on the plane sick with other, oh, that is. No, no, we had waited two hours that we thought we were better. I was 100% better. All my other kids were better. But my little baby was still feeling sick.
Starting point is 01:21:38 And my wife was like, I'm just a little nauseous. I'm fine. She was just probably playing strong because she's a strong wife, strong person. Yes, and we had to get down there. Like, we wanted to spend Christmas with our family. So you get there and then you have to get back. Was there an issue with getting back? So yes.
Starting point is 01:21:51 So when we're flying back, there was delays. About four hour delay at the airport. So we're flying back Christmas. Eve. So we're thinking, oh my gosh, we're going to get there really late. We had no groceries at the house. So sure enough, four hours we were late. We get to Nashville. We get to everything's closed. Grocery stores are closed. We have no food. We open the door to our house. The heater is broken. The house is frozen. How cold was it in Nashville? I don't know. But it was negative 1. Negative 1 degrees. Guys, my toilets were frozen. The water on your toilet was frozen ice? It was
Starting point is 01:22:22 ice solid. We're like, this is not good. So everybody's, anybody still sick, by the way. Yes, my wife is still sick. She's still sick. She needs to go to the doctor once we get to Nashville. But everything's closed. The toilets are frozen. The house is cold. And I call someone to, can we have someone look at the heater?
Starting point is 01:22:37 Guys, we have no one. It's Christmas Eve. So we had to wait two days before anyone can come out. How did you saw all the toilets? We didn't. There was one toilet in the back of our house that was working. That was the only one, and that's the one we used. Wow.
Starting point is 01:22:51 That's, yeah, it's crazy. And to make things worse, so once everything got heated up, we got back into life. My wife was, there was a Lego in the garbage disposal. She was taking it out. And as their hands in the garbage disposal, my baby flips the switch on. Oh, my gosh. She yanks her head out. And the garbage disposal caught her nail.
Starting point is 01:23:13 It was that close to chopping her finger off. I'm like, that would have been perfect. You know what? That would have been the perfect ending to this holiday break. Oh, that's my worst. One of my worst fears. It's awful. It was crazy.
Starting point is 01:23:24 I'm sorry that happened to you. You didn't deserve that. It's okay. We're better now. Well, and Amy would like to share the end of her story. Oh, no. Because I saw it on an Instagram story and I was really concerned for her because it looked bad. So you guys were driving on the highway?
Starting point is 01:23:39 Yeah, and the only reason I was driving on the highway is because my Southwest flight got canceled home. So then I had no other flight options and I'm driving all over Colorado and New Mexico, trying to just, I don't know, have a good time. That's what you're doing, having a good time? Trying to have a good time. Well, we were supposed to leave. And my sister's like, well, we're going to go to Santa Fe. You want to come with us?
Starting point is 01:24:00 I'm like, hey, might as well. Because then maybe we can get a flight out of Albuquerque. So we go to Santa Fe and then boom, Southwest loads flights up again. Because for a day, it was just nothing was available. So we finally find a flight. And then we're driving towards Albuquerque on the highway going 70 miles an hour. And I've never been in an accident on the highway before. Anything I've ever hit was a non-moving object.
Starting point is 01:24:25 So this was really scary. The truck next to us, their tire, his tire blew out, and he lost control. And other cars started reacting, and everyone's like swerving. And we swerved because this car's coming towards us. And then we're thinking we're in the clear, but we're about to, like, hit a wall and everything is just happening so fast. And then in the rearview side mirrors, you can see the truck coming straight for us. So my brother-in-law is driving, and he tries to gun it to speed up so the truck will miss us.
Starting point is 01:24:55 And he almost made it. but the truck clipped the back rear passenger tire. And I don't know. It's a miracle we didn't spin out of control because the way it clipped, we should have like spun sideways. I'm thankful for his driving skills, but the driver of the truck hit us,
Starting point is 01:25:13 then hit the wall, bounced off of that, rolled across the three-lane highway and rolled into a ditch. Totaled his car, flipped. Yeah, and he was hauling a trailer and the stuff was everywhere. And I saw it all in my side mirror.
Starting point is 01:25:28 I saw the truck just go. And I mean, once we got to where we could pull over, we could. And then my brother-in-law ran to the scene. And some other people had pulled over. I got some DMs from listeners that are like, oh, my gosh, I drove right by that. And we have a lot of listeners in New Mexico, by the way. They're very like, wow, cool. Thanks for coming to New Mexico.
Starting point is 01:25:46 Which I was so thankful for the people that stopped. But then also the first responders, they were there so fast, which I thought was very impressive and the guy crawled out. And that trailer looks demolished. Yeah. Airbags, smash stuff. Like, he crawled out and he was like, fine. Did you watch him crawl out?
Starting point is 01:26:05 No, I didn't. No, I personally had to stay back because I wasn't prepared. In my mind, I was thinking, I, I just started praying immediately. And then a few minutes went by and I was like, okay, I think that I heard, like, Ben yelled that it's okay. and then so I just, that's when I just kind of, I recorded something because I was so shaken and I just wanted to like put out good energy and prayers and vibes. And I'm like, I think everything's okay, but I'm still waiting to hear. But in my mind, I was just picturing, I can't, if it's something bad, I personally can't handle seeing it.
Starting point is 01:26:41 My brother-in-law used to be at EMT, though, so he was, and he's actually, unfortunately, seen Rex like that before and helped people. So he went straight in. And my son was trying to run after and I'm like, stay back. I didn't want him to see something traumatic. And the guy was okay. Happy holidays. It was a miracle. I'm so thankful.
Starting point is 01:27:01 A lot of people struggle with the traveling. That story, that's really tragic, but he's okay. Which is, yes. I don't even know who he is. I mean, I guess we have the crash number and the insurance stuff, but, oh, man. Eddie's toilets were frozen, and they had a house frozen for a couple of days. What'd you guys do, blanket up? Yeah, we wore all those, like, fuzzles.
Starting point is 01:27:22 How's that bear? You know, that big bear costume? Is that why you're wearing that costume? Yeah, because it was warm. It's hilarious. Hilarious. Mike D. couldn't get back from San Antonio.
Starting point is 01:27:32 They drove. Mike, how long was the drive home? 14 hours. Oh, my goodness. They were just like we're going. So they just jumped. They packed some lunch in a tub and drove. And there it is.
Starting point is 01:27:40 Again, we drove too, but we didn't have to get a flight because of six hours from Central Arkansas here. So thank goodness. But glad everybody's back. We're back. We made it back. We're positive. We're here. This is Julia from South Carolina who left us a voicemail.
Starting point is 01:27:56 Oh, how I've missed you guys. I'm getting ready for going back to work and getting in the routine and I'm just thinking about how excited that I'll be able to listen to you all tomorrow on the podcast and hear about everything. It just looks like everybody had a great holiday and I'm looking forward to seeing y'all and hearing you all soon. Take care. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 01:28:17 We're happy to be back today. There's a new episode of 25 whistles that we did yesterday that's up as well. So it's my football show. 25 whistles. Check it out. Go podcast it if you'd like. A couple more things from my notes. Bobby's notes from the break.
Starting point is 01:28:32 Because I made pages of them. If something would happen, I'd jot it down. This happened Sunday. Tampa, the Bucks, made the playoffs. So remember we all put that money into bet at the beginning? Yeah. So overall, I think we raised amongst ourselves, 500 bucks. And I believe the bet at Draft Kings was 500 bucks got us maybe
Starting point is 01:28:52 3,000? I can look real quick if you'd like. But forever, it seemed like the bucks weren't going to make the playoffs. But they did, and so we're still in. That's great news. I assumed we were out. We're not out. They're probably, just depending, there could be a couple things happen. They're probably going to play the Cowboys in the first round.
Starting point is 01:29:08 And that's going to be tough for the Navy. Unless a couple things happen, right? The Eagles have to lose. Samson's a guy to lose. But they'll probably play the Cowboys in the first round, and that's tough. But right now, we raise 500 bucks as the bet to win $4,000. Wow. Okay. So if the The bucks are in the playoffs, though. The playoffs don't start this coming week, but the week after.
Starting point is 01:29:26 Okay, so what do they have to win for us to get that? The Super Bowl. The whole thing. They can. They have. They can. They can. Sure.
Starting point is 01:29:35 They're terrible. They can. Sure. They're not terrible if they made it this far. No, they're in a bad division. It's been a bad season for them. It has been. Guys.
Starting point is 01:29:43 But I, you know. High vibes. And Tom, we trust. Yeah. You know? So there's that note. I went to a Christmas party over the break. A friend had a Christmas party.
Starting point is 01:29:50 That's pretty awesome. and there's a couple things I wanted to mention from it because we had one at our house too like a Vegas Christmas party that we did for charity and then I went to another friends and they had like a live band and it's pretty cool. It was outside and it was cold but he had the hottest heater I've ever heard of
Starting point is 01:30:07 it's the greatest thing. I was like dang you have some cool guests including the sun which was like some little box but it heated the whole thing. I need to find out what the heater was the greatest thing I've ever seen and he was like why don't you get away from the heater? I can't it's amazing. So we go and there were some microphones up and people would just get up near the end of the party and just start playing. And these three people got up. I didn't know them. But they get up and they sing a song. They did an
Starting point is 01:30:30 a cappella. I'm not sure what it was, but it was like, the first no will. But they're singing again. I'm like, dang, those are good. And my buddy goes, yeah, they're actually a group called Dave's Highway and their brothers and sister, all three of them. It's like a brother and two sisters. They're really good. They're really good. I was like, wow. So I stopped talking to them and they've been here for six, seven years, and they're working real jobs as well, trying to make it. And it was just kind of blown away.
Starting point is 01:30:56 I love brother and sister groups, too. They always sound like their vocals are so tight. Oh, natural harmonies. They're called. And so they're going to come play on the show. They don't have a record deal or anything, but they're going to come play on the show next week, maybe this week. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 01:31:10 So it was awesome. They were amazing. And we had just a really good time at a Christmas party. And the people just grab a guitar. People were like no Justin Bieber under the mistletoe and everybody with, it was awesome. Wow. I rarely just go and just like,
Starting point is 01:31:22 I'm able to relax and have a good time and sing. But that was that night. And so I had a great time there. But another note from that was, because I made another joke about, let me see here. Tampa makes a place.
Starting point is 01:31:34 Oh, okay, I saw Chase Rice. That's what it was. Where? At this party. Uh-oh. And it wasn't like a big party. There weren't any artist. I mean, it was like me, Jake,
Starting point is 01:31:45 Owen, who had the party. And Chase was there for a little bit. It wasn't like an industry thing. No other artists. I think that's why I was able to relax. It wasn't full of music people. And so I did this joke that included Chase Rice. Oh, that's right.
Starting point is 01:31:59 Which is why this is a thing. Got it. Maybe or maybe not. I don't really have fear when I'm on stage doing stand-up because you're not going to beat me up up there. And so I'm just trying to be funny. And I wasn't trying to be mean. I was just making jokes.
Starting point is 01:32:12 It's comedy. Sometimes I may cross the line. Sometimes I may not as a comedian. And at one of my recent comedically inspirational shows, I did a monologue, and I'm like, well, they won't let me host the CMAs because it was right before the CMAs. And so I said, this is what I would do this year if I were hosting it. And so I did all these jokes, right? And I made a joke about Chase Rice when talking about Cain Brown. Do I start this up?
Starting point is 01:32:36 How do I set this up? So from that monologue, it just says about me getting screwed over, but I need to say the Cain Brown part? I don't. Okay. So from that monologue, and I'll tell you, what happened afterward. This is me talking about people getting screwed over at like award shows. Let's talk about Kane Brown. I mean, it's mind-blowing to me that Kane Brown wasn't nominated tonight. Kane broke all kinds of records this year. He's broken streaming records. He's broken
Starting point is 01:33:01 touring records. He has a massive cereal. Kane Brown gets screwed more than Chase Rice at a middle Tennessee sorority party. There he is, old Chase. He's good looking. He is a ladies man. Chase opened up for me once in Austin, and I saw more girls get on a as tour bus than we're playing on country radio last year. So, oh, that's good. And I didn't have any beef with Chase at all.
Starting point is 01:33:36 I was just making jokes. It's a joke. Yeah. And so Chase Rice Rice was there, though. Oh, yeah. And I was like, I'm never awkward. I would have been happy to talk with them. I don't really know Chase that well.
Starting point is 01:33:46 And all this stuff is true. I mean, I didn't make anything up. He did open for Eddie and I, The Raging Idiots in Austin. It was a great, he did a great show. It was us. John Party Open was right before us. It was our show, but party open, Chase open, and somebody else.
Starting point is 01:33:59 else. But Chase comes up and goes, hey man, you seen any college girls? Ah, let's go. And he was kidding. Yes, yes. He doesn't talk about it. Good job, Chase. Good job, and I said, no, man, I thought you probably took taking them all with you. We had a little joke about the joke and then we just talked for like 20 to 30 minutes and it was great. We talked about just real life stuff. And so I thought it was so cool to him because some people got really upset. some of that stuff went over publicly some didn't and I was getting threatened and stuff like you don't put that online there's a whole situation whatever it doesn't matter it wasn't from Chase
Starting point is 01:34:38 because Chase came up and was like yeah that's pretty funny he was like yeah I saw it I was like ooh he's always but it is what it is he's gonna do so I would just like to publicly say I think that really cool way that he handled that yeah and I was like hey man I didn't want to offend you I even asked one of your friends before I did it it, do you think Chase would get mad? I don't want to run a joke by him because I don't want to run jokes by people about
Starting point is 01:35:03 about them. But I asked one of his friends, he was like, no, Chase won't get mad. And so I said, I even asked about if you would get mad. So I said, it was great. We talked for half an hour. He had a great sense of humor about it at the end. So, yeah, like a lunchbox clapping again. Yeah, we'll take it. Well, I didn't get beat up. I was worried you were going to say he got punched.
Starting point is 01:35:19 Punched. Well, he'd won my butt, for sure. So, but that was it. And he's apparently got some, I hope I'm not breaking news or anything. He's had any new records coming out this year. I was like, dude, come up. Let's go. We had a good talk. I don't really know him that well. I haven't had a great relationship with him, you know, over the years. But I think we went a long way and like actually having some sort of like we're normal to normal human dudes.
Starting point is 01:35:43 Man, 2023. The new Bobby's in. Yeah. New 23. New me. That's cool, man. Yeah. So there was that. Any other note I want to go through. Are we, we had a time, Ray? You got two minutes. Okay. Some of this stuff I'm going to just wait until tomorrow. man, I got some good ones here. We finished the show The Old Man. One of the best shows I've ever seen. It's awesome. Apparently it was on Hulu now, but apparently it was on FX.
Starting point is 01:36:09 FX is what it says. Don't even know how I missed it. It has Jeff Bridges as an old guy who used to be in. He's the dude. Yeah, no, no, no, I'm talking about it in the show. Oh, oh, CIS. He used to be in one of those organizations, CIA, FBI, whatever. And he gets out of it.
Starting point is 01:36:26 But then they're trying to find him years later, but he's an old guy. and now he's like, wait, I'm old, and he's got to like, it's awesome. Oh. Let's go. Is it that good? I just started the first episode, so I mean, so far so good. The old man. The old man.
Starting point is 01:36:38 It's amazing. Okay. Hour or 30 minutes? 53. That's an hour. 42. Hour four. No regulation on old people.
Starting point is 01:36:46 This old man, baby. Bobby Bone Show. Boney up the day. This story comes us from Linden, New Jersey. A man went into a liquor store and put a bottle of liquor on the counter and they said, oh, that'll be $18.60. He's like, I only got 15. Give me a discount. And he said, sir,
Starting point is 01:37:04 can't do that. So he got mad, threw the liquor bottle at the employee and then smashed $3,000 worth of liquor. Whoa. He probably not had the cash on to pay for that either. Probably not. People are just having bad times. Like bad days.
Starting point is 01:37:18 Yeah, I think he was under the influence. Oh, you think he went drunk? Yeah, I think so. I mean, you don't react that way if you're not. Right? Unless you're just unstable. I don't know, 15 bucks for an $18 unless he's been in there and caused trouble
Starting point is 01:37:32 maybe you help him out. You know, hey, a little discount. A little holiday cheer. We just finished Christmas, you know, New Year cheer. Okay. I'm Lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of the day. On the phone in Missouri is Kyler.
Starting point is 01:37:48 Kyler, what's going on, buddy? Hey, how's going to show? Morning studio. Morning. So all of 2022, I kept track of every time somebody's winning show or winning game song played
Starting point is 01:38:01 I have missed podcast in a long time and so I didn't know you guys always say Eddie is the most and so I kept track and I didn't know if you guys wanted to hear that
Starting point is 01:38:11 would love it wow I don't know if you kept my school I don't get to play a lot of games because my host them or yeah percentage wise Bobby's
Starting point is 01:38:18 would get played the most yeah maybe maybe not no no let's be right because when you play you yeah it's like 95% I appreciate
Starting point is 01:38:26 you guys saying that. Happy New Year to me. Really annoying. Did you count mine and did I have any wins, Kyler? Yeah, you win seven for seven, actually. Yeah, exactly. Wow. Every time you played you won. I told you.
Starting point is 01:38:37 See? Okay. You didn't lose one. That's probably why they don't like you playing games because you always win. I had no idea. Thank you. Okay, so who's in last place in the games for the whole year of 2022, Kyler?
Starting point is 01:38:49 Do you want to count Abby and Morgan also? Morgan plays. Yeah, both, both. Okay, and last place is Abby with three wins. Okay, she's just play a whole lot. What was her percentage? Do you know? No. I don't know the percentage.
Starting point is 01:39:04 I can keep track of that this year, though. Okay, yeah, do that. All right, and next place? Yeah, Morgan with 14 wins. Okay, significant. Hey, I'll take 14. All right, top three over here. Who's in third?
Starting point is 01:39:17 Third place is Amy with 34 wins. Wow. Here we go. Yeah. We'll find out of the real champion. You know why? You beat Eddie. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:39:29 2020. Dude, he was a trivia. He did have a good year. He was. Yeah. Okay. Let's go. And don't say who, but how many wins was the first place person?
Starting point is 01:39:39 First place had 63 wins. Wow. What a year. All the games. Somebody had 63 wins. When this guy called it and this, I was going to be like, what a loser. But now I'm like, hey, good job, man. I'm glad you found out I was on top.
Starting point is 01:39:50 Yeah. All right, Kyler, who had 63 wins and was the first place overall champion of the show and all the games last show. That would be the guy who wins all the games, Eddie. Hey! What a twist. So how many did lunch have?
Starting point is 01:40:08 And lunchbox had 40. Oh, wow. Pretty good. That's far away, though. It's a good year for you though, but well, it's second though. Not far from me. Yeah, too many music games. Hey, Kyler, I'm going to send you some sort of prize.
Starting point is 01:40:19 Hang on a second. I don't know what we're going to send them by. I appreciate you doing that and calling with that information. It's like Kyler, our stat. That was cool. Yeah, thanks, man. Bye, everybody. The Bobby Bone Show.
