For more games with names, visit the Iheart Radio app or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us
Starting point is 00:01:30 You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the I-Heart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:02:20 If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down. Orsia accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man. They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew. Pinky has financial issues. On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King, recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows, including the Real Housewives franchise, the drama, the alliances, and the T everybody's talking about.
Starting point is 00:02:48 To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Wake up, wake up, and... So, and the morning. And you turn the radio on, and the dial just keeps on turn. Keeps on turn. And you're here.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Eddie and me lunchbox, Morgan, 2. Scoo for Steve Reddavitt's trying to put you through. Mike Deed's writing this week's next bit. And Bobby's on the mic so you know what this is. This is the Bobby Vaughn's story. So are Taylor and Travis done? That's the question. Oh.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Oh, here we go. Who's asking that question? Well, a lot of people, because there have been some factors. By the way, Travis Kelsey played fine last week. They got like seven catches. A little better. Like around 80 years. But still, you know, it's not quite bounced back probably.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Like maybe mentally he had some stuff going on? No, like he's been partying all year and he hasn't really played that well this year. Like all off season, he's been all over the world. By the way, I felt that. Things happen in life. He's got a new girlfriend he loves. Even if he hadn't been traveling all around the world. and he gets a new girlfriend or gets married.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Like, things are going to be a bit different. Also, he's like 83 now. So I say justice for Travis Kelsey. Second of all, they haven't lost yet. Chiefs are 4-0. So let's go. Let's go, Chiefs. Here's the story about Taylor and Travis.
Starting point is 00:04:14 She did not show up to his last game. Did you guys know that? No, I didn't know that. How do you feel about that? Well, that's why I didn't know if mentally he had stuff going on. Yeah. He was free to play. On the field.
Starting point is 00:04:25 She's missed games before, right? But, like, for shows and so. VF. VF. Very few. Oh. Didn't catch on that. I made that up.
Starting point is 00:04:35 It's kind of stupid. I just guessed. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey, they say, according to TMZ, are still going strong despite her absence. Now here's where it gets,
Starting point is 00:04:45 though, a little iffy according to people. Taylor preparing for her upcoming tour in Florida and rehearsals may be behind her absence. Hasn't she been doing this show for, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:04:55 two years at this point? Yeah, she doesn't need to rehearse. Well, maybe she's changing things up. A song? In the show. I'm very pro-Taylor Travis. And I really don't care, but I'm pro them because most people have been like, that's not real. And I'm like, that's kind of real.
Starting point is 00:05:09 That's real. It's been a while. Yeah, they're really holding on if they're faking. But I think it's real. And so fans are worried about a potential riff, but they are apparently still good to go. Do you believe they're still good to go? Or do you believe it never was true? Amy.
Starting point is 00:05:22 It's always been true and they're good. Lunchbox? Never been true. And this is the contract got out about winning with. supposed to end and they're like man we're going to have to slow play this now so I just won't be around as much it will do the slow fade away some people think that I do not because once the contract came out they were very very close in a lot of pictures they were all over the place purposefully and now she didn't show up to a game I would counter that by saying if we're trying to slow play it I'd probably come
Starting point is 00:05:48 to the game to get people to stop thinking we're slow playing it exactly but that's me Eddie oh it's very strong and it's very true one more Morgan I think there's still real and it's still, they're still on. Do you think there is on-on or do you think it's starting to do what it normally does? I don't, I can't, if she misses more games, that will be the deciding factor. But right now that's just one game. I'm pro TNT. A T&T, Travis and Taylor.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Got it. Or dynamite. Or dynamite, yes. How do we feel about this guy? He goes on a date with this girl and then the date's not over and he pays and then leaves because he's like, I can't take that. And you should have told me that already. So here we go.
Starting point is 00:06:28 He meets her on a dating site. They meet at a restaurant. First of all, he says she didn't look like her pictures. Kind of, but not really. I'd say there's about a 12% allowance of them not looking exactly like pictures because everybody, for the most part, I don't because I don't care. I'm married. I mean in the best way.
Starting point is 00:06:47 I don't edit anything. But a lot of people do a little editing, you know, even light, even put on a filter. You know, so maybe they don't look exactly like it. but they get there and they're waiting for their food and she revealed to him she has five kids with three different men. So I'm going to say that again. Whoa. Five kids, three different men. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:10 He says, wow. They sat there for about 30 seconds where he said he didn't know what to say and he said, I'm just going to end the date. He told her, I don't see this going anywhere, left the money on the table for the food that they had ordered and walked out. He says in his post he thinks people should disclose something like that. on their profile and not waste people's time. The question is, is he an a-hole? And I'm going to say yes. I want to say yes to this.
Starting point is 00:07:34 He is. Because again, you're across the table from a human being. Yeah. And I think sometimes we forget that when we're in this, got to have it now. If it's not exactly right now, I don't want it. And no one says that he has to marry this person or even go on a second date with her.
Starting point is 00:07:48 But he has committed an hour and a half of his life to this already. And nothing has lost if he continues it. And he paid. He already paid too, so it's not even a money thing. You think you're too good to hang out with somebody that probably made some decisions, and I'm sure she's happy she has the kids, but probably made some decisions at the time she wasn't proud of. Or maybe she is proud of it.
Starting point is 00:08:08 I don't know. I think you could have at least had dinner with her. I think that's what makes you the A-hole. I think you can grow from this. I don't think you put that on your profile, but where she messed up was not saying it in the tech, in the pre-date. You should put it has children. Yes, but not five with three men. I think that's a little too much.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Got it. But I think what you can do is there's always the pretext, which is either on the app or texting before you actually meet. And that's one of those things you probably disclose. Now, I would be irritated if I were him and that, dang, I was really excited about this. I'm probably not going to further this relationship with this woman because she has too many kids or she has too many dads of those kids. Don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:47 It doesn't matter. It's not my thing. But I think what makes him the A-hole is there was a human being across from him and he bailed out. Because he didn't have to make it. Well, if we're not going to be romantic, we're nothing. You can have them know with somebody and learn about their story and just, even if you're uncomfortable, okay. So that's my opinion. Should she have told him?
Starting point is 00:09:07 Yes. Should she have put on her profile? No. She'll get no matches. Think about her, though. If she's like, I'm never going to get a single match. If I put, how many kids? Five.
Starting point is 00:09:17 How many did that? I understand that question. How many, dad, sorry. Yeah. So. I mean, it could go the other way, too. Like some women, they could be out on a day with. the guy and he could be like, yeah, I have five kids, three, three moms. I don't know how. And you know what,
Starting point is 00:09:30 unfairly, that wouldn't be as bothersome to most women. I know, it's unfair. You know why? Because the dad, again, if we're just doing assigning generic situations, the dad wouldn't have the kids. Because men are losers in the courts are like, men are losers. Can't be trusted. The moms get the kids. So I'm going to go, yes, he's an a-hole. He can learn from this. I don't think he's a-hole. He can learn from this. I don't think he's a bad person because of this, but in this situation, I think yes. Lunchbox, I'm curious, your take. Oh, no, I think he's in his right mind because he sat there and he went on this date thinking, and this could be the one.
Starting point is 00:10:05 I could marry this chick. He's thinking that he's a weirdo. I agree with that. But he walks in and he sits down and when you get shocking news, the best thing you can do, you need time to decompress. You just got to get out of there. So he was nice. He could have just left and paid for his half of the meal.
Starting point is 00:10:20 But he paid for the entire meal. but he paid for the entire meal. What a nice dude and said, hey, I don't want to lead you on. I don't want to get your hopes up. Like, I have nothing else to say. I'm out of here. So it's more like a tell me something good to you.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Like the guy still pays? Wow. Because he could have just left. He could have done the whole, I got to go to the bathroom thing. On this show, you know, we have a lot of opinions and they don't have to match. Tell me something good.
Starting point is 00:10:43 No, it's not really a tell me something good. But yeah. Time for the news. Bobby's B. Stories I don't think I had anything to do with it But I don't think I heard Rascal Flats are back together
Starting point is 00:10:56 What? I saw it Coincidence? I think not I've been screaming it for a year Like Joe Don's healthy We love that
Starting point is 00:11:08 Gary obviously wants to do shows He's been doing club shows They just announced They're back together One we need to get them on the show immediately I just texted Gary right now I'm not sick What one of them was listening?
Starting point is 00:11:23 I know that at least one of them listens, but I'm not saying it. I'm not saying anything to do with it. But I love it for them. That's awesome. They're going to go out and do their 25th anniversary tour now. I love those guys. All of them individually and together. I'm so excited for Rascal Flats to be back together.
Starting point is 00:11:40 So I'm going to leave the news with that because I just saw pop up my Instagram feed. Wow. Scooby-quick, we get them in. Yeah, I'm on it. Okay, thank you. Are you eating? Yeah, I just took about it something. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:11:50 What are you eating? What does Scoob Steve have for breakfast? Our executive producer, Scoobo Steve. At Belveda, crunchy, cinnamon brown sugar, little chips. A really, really good mix with coffee. Sounds good. That's healthy. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:11:59 It is. Yeah. Not. All right. To the news. A woman was caught trying to smuggle more than 700 pounds of bologna and prescription drugs across the border into Texas. That sounds like a ditty party. Was the bologna hiding the drugs or she was smuggling bologna.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Dude, I don't know. I just smuggling bologna in drugs. That's why bros in jail right now. No, she was trying to smuggling. a massive amount of baloney and all the prescriptions. He's 43 years old. It has to be drugs in the baloney, but also don't you need a permit to carry that much baloney, like that much meat across two?
Starting point is 00:12:34 Oh, no, man. Because it's all in like a trunk and it's in big rat baloney, but you need to have like a note from like a baloney doctor or something to say they're allowed this much baloney, or that looks suspicious, right? The woman only declared a cook meal during her. See, here's the thing. You have to declare it too. There are too many things happening here.
Starting point is 00:12:52 The suitcases were removed from the car opened, which led to discovery of 40 rolls of Mexican baloney. There's your other problem. It belongs in Mexico. During their investigation, they found 280 boxes of undeclared prescription medications hidden inside the various panels of the SUV and like under the baloney. Oh, my God. Even the baloney excites me, though.
Starting point is 00:13:11 That's a lot of me. Wow. So she's in trouble. They found like $8,000 in cash hidden in the vehicle, too. That is from Cave View News. Pete Rose died. Major League Baseball's all-time hits leader who earned a lifetime ban from the sport
Starting point is 00:13:25 after he gambled on the Cincinnati Red Games died at 83 years old. He's the hit leader. He's more hits than anybody else in baseball. Got into a lot of controversy. They wouldn't let him in the Hall of Fame because of the betting on baseball. He claims the only bet on his team to win.
Starting point is 00:13:42 You can't bet on baseball. I think he'll get in the Hall of Fame now that he's died. Oh, yeah? I do. I think. Well, that's a bummer. Well, I think that was the whole purpose of it. They weren't going to let him in alive.
Starting point is 00:13:52 And he would sign balls. I'm sorry, I bet on baseball. Not really one of the warmest of guys, from what I know, not to speak ill of the dead, because he was an amazing ball player, like would run through people. His name was Charlie Hustle. But, yeah, Barji Amati, the commissioner back in the day, was like, we're not going to let him in the Hall of Fame. So I bet he gets in now, now that he's dead.
Starting point is 00:14:14 And they call that. Posthumstimus. Postomous. Yeah. Postomous. It's a tough word is anyway. It is. Cans of pumpkin puree, even those that advertise 100% pumpkin.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Puree. Whatever. It's a hard word. Thank you. Postomous. Is that too easy? I guess I don't even know what a puree. Puree is pumpkin puree like in the can.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Does anybody call it puree? No. No, I don't think so, man. But pumpkin pie, like that's what you would use. That tough word. Never used it. I know what it is. It's like liquid, right?
Starting point is 00:14:46 Yeah, yeah. It's mush. Mushed pumpkin. Is mush not liquid? Puray. Puri? You lique. I'm thinking of pure ale.
Starting point is 00:14:55 You don't drink it, though. The soap. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, it's squash. Sposh. Puree? So, no, cans of pumpkin puree, even those that advertise 100... Puree.
Starting point is 00:15:06 God dang. Even those that advertise 100 to pumpkin are actually made of different squashes. Yeah, that's not right. That's weird. That's like the tuna. I'm okay with that. No, no, no, no, it's not. Aren't they cousins, though?
Starting point is 00:15:16 Squash and pumpkins? Butternut squash. Squash. And then not. real tuna at all is not they're not related to it's fraud this is at least like a like a cousin like you said or a sibling it's not puree huh yeah sure is it uh so anyway i don't care um from appetite a research journal if you're someone who loves spicy food but your spouse likes bland food just wait you'll eventually have the same taste in food according to research a new study found the longer
Starting point is 00:15:42 two people are in a relationship the more closely their food and smell preferences line up it's most likely because it's easier to eat similar foods together and you get used to it. Wow. I would agree. I hate onions. My wife loves to put onions and stuff. And I can do a little onion now because she just puts it in everything. I just don't need it to be large. I don't like the crunch of an onion. You could puree it. I could puree it. Rhode Island boy, six years old, starts his own poop scooping business to pay for cat adoption. Like he's six and he wanted to start a business. Wow. He wanted to pay for it himself. And so he calls it poop a scoop a Luca. His name's Luca. And so he's been scooping people's yards for
Starting point is 00:16:20 15 or 20 bucks for multiple dogs and he's raised enough money to do this. Now people are giving him money and I'm sure he's going to start something with it like an organization to help. That's awesome. But yeah, a little six-year-old starting hustling New York Post with that story. People are ditching friends for their pets. Americans are all in on their relationship with their pets. A new survey finds that 99% say you should show your fur friends love and appreciation daily. Okay. Who's the one percent that's like, ignore your dog? About 97% say pets are family members. Yeah, I feel that.
Starting point is 00:16:49 And then nearly half of pet parents admit they've skipped hanging out with friends to stay with their pet. Yeah. If your pet's sick? If your pet's sick or something. Yeah, okay. But also. To hang out? But mostly it's not because I want to hang out with the pet.
Starting point is 00:17:02 It's mostly because I don't want to go with the friend. And I just have an excuse. If you go to my Instagram, because this is hilarious. I have a bulldog. And then I have a dog that is like many different breeds. But she's like hound, husky. So she howls. Anytime there's anything, ambulance, thunder, she's, oh, our bulldog does not howl because
Starting point is 00:17:24 bulldogs don't howl. Now, he started to hear her howl and he starts to try to howl. If you go to my Instagram, I finally got him on trying to howl. There's an ambulance driving by and he goes, oh, ooh, the bulldog is trying to howl. It's on my Instagram, Mr. Bobby Bones. Did you see it? Not yet, but I'm going to go. It's funny.
Starting point is 00:17:42 He's just trying to imitate. The other dog. That's crazy, but bulldogs don't howl. That's cute. And then finally a man amputates his wiener with an axe after taking these mushrooms.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Uh-oh. No, I'm not doing mushrooms. That's why. After consuming a large quantity of magic mushrooms, that's why, yeah, that's cool. I'm convinced.
Starting point is 00:17:58 A 37-year-old man suffering with a lot of the stuff took an axe to it. Oh. You think maybe he like saw something that wasn't there on it and then tried to like chop it? Oh, like a bug?
Starting point is 00:18:08 Yeah. Or like a tree? It needs firewood? You never know. Fortunately, doctors were able to reattach part of it. but it goes on and on. It gets a little graphic.
Starting point is 00:18:17 I'm going to pass on that, but he's chopped. That's from side post. All right, that's it. Thank you. That's the news. Bobby's big. Stories. A win is a win. A win is a win.
Starting point is 00:18:28 I don't care which I'm saying. Yep, that's me. Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
Starting point is 00:18:43 And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. Listen to The Clifford show on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip. I'm Tab Ramos. I'm Tom Boke.
Starting point is 00:19:45 On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policicic. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
Starting point is 00:20:04 And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. This is Julian Edelman, host of games with names.
Starting point is 00:20:32 On our latest episode, we got comedian Blake Anderson from Workaholics and The Hilarious This Is Important Podcast. Let's go. We did beat them in improv. You had an improv against the team? Yes, we would pull up their schools would be there with signs for us. It's competition. What you would win is a bottle of gold slager.
Starting point is 00:20:51 James Fester threw it out of the van because he didn't want us drinking in. For more games with names, visit the Iheart Radio app or wherever you get your podcast. I went and sat on the little ottoman in front of him. I said, hi, dad. And just when I said that, my mom comes out of the kitchen. She says, I have some cookies and milk. This is a badass convict man. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Just finished five years. I'm going to have cookies and milk at him mom. Yeah. And without this trouble, I'm a lot of trouble.
Starting point is 00:21:50 I'm going to die. Open your free I-Heart radio app. Search the Cito Show. And listen now. I feel like it was a little bit unbelievable until I really start making money. It's Financial Literacy Month, and the podcast, Eating While Broke is bringing real conversations about money, growth, and building your future. This month, hear from top streamer, Zoe Spencer, and venture capitalist Lakeisha Landrum Pierre, as they share their journeys from starting out to leveling up.
Starting point is 00:22:22 If I'm outside with my parents and they see all these people come up to me for pictures, it's like, what? Today now, obviously, it's like 100%. They believe everything. But at first, it was just like, you got to go get a real job. There's an economic component to community striving. If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities, they fail. And what I mean by fail is they don't have money to pay for food. They cannot feed their kids.
Starting point is 00:22:46 They do not have homes. Communities don't work unless there's money flowing through them. Listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Crazy that it's October 1st. I can't believe it. Already? That's every year now, but it's like crazy. It's October 1st.
Starting point is 00:23:08 It's the first of the month. Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, it's the first of the month. Today is October 1st. Here are your trivia questions about famous first. For example, if I said who was the first president of the United States. George Washington. Who is the first U.S. President to live in the White House? Adam.
Starting point is 00:23:26 John Adams. Okay. Now we'll go around the room. If you miss it, you're out. Amy, who is the first African-American woman to host a daytime talk show? Daytime talk. I guess I'll go with Oprah. Correct. Lunchbox. Get this.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I don't give it to him. I can't because it's not fair compared to the other one. This is hard. This is hard. Yeah. I'll give you three answers. You can guess three times. What year was the first iPhone launched by Apple?
Starting point is 00:23:59 2008. You get three guesses. because it's going to be two it's 2008's not right but you that's a hard one um 2010 not right and that would be the second guess give me one more uh well we're on iPhone 16 oh that's good they don't come out i'm not gonna give them it's 2007 i can't give them that hard one like that it's tough it's tough lunchbox who was the first man to win eight gold medals at a single modern

Starting point is 00:24:45 That's wrong, Ray. Okay, okay, three guesses. Read again one more time, but. Samuel Morris was the first person to send what kind of message in 1836. Encrypted message. In 1836? Yeah. No.
Starting point is 00:24:57 No. So it's not Morse code message. It's a sext. Seriously? No, I'm kidding. I was like, wow. This guy's revolutionary. 1836 now.

Starting point is 00:27:08 Okay. What TV show featured the first interracial couple on television back in 1951? 1951. Eddie. I wasn't born then. Come on, dude. Oh, man. Eddie, you get more crap for me and one year older.
Starting point is 00:27:22 One year older than you guys. You were born in the 70s, though. Ridicrous. We're all 80s born. Eddie and I are more than a couple years. You're just born a different decade, you know? Yeah, we're going to go with Morgan Mindy. I love Lucy.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Morgan Mindy was from the 80s, Robin Williams. No idea. I love Lucy. I want to know off the air what you were going to say. I didn't know what could be. I can't say that. Eddie, what was the first university in the United States? Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:27:52 I get this wrong. What was the first university in the United States? I mean, it had to have been up in the Northeast, one of those Ivy League schools. God. My guess is Harvard. Correct. Wow. The first one ever?
Starting point is 00:28:10 All right, one more round. Eddie's up by one. Amy, who was the first secretary of treasury? No chance. No, she'll get this. Hamilton? Hamilton, correct. Alexander Hamilton.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Whoa. What's up? Suckas? Suckas? I give her two points because you guys hated on her. Give her two points. Mike. What's up?
Starting point is 00:28:26 Hold on. I didn't say she wasn't going to get it. Yeah, no, I heard of. Give her two points because you guys are haters. I was like, that's an impossible. Hey, will you guys do you guys say I'm not going to get this next one? Lunchbox, in what year? Did the first person walk on the moon?
Starting point is 00:28:37 Man. And I won't accept never. You got this. Come on guys. They all never get it. Hey, they believe in you, man. You got this. Yeah, you'll get it.
Starting point is 00:28:45 It's easy, actually. Oh, I know it. 1969. Correct. Eddie, what was the first video game ever created by Atari in 1972? He gave himself from his child and he's going to get it. The first video game by Atari. That the video game was Atari.
Starting point is 00:29:07 That was a system. Right. That's funny. Wasn't the game. Yeah. Gosh, was it? Pong. Correct.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Wow. Wow, that's crazy. So we're going to say everybody's tied. Y'all your name is debuts. We'll have three final questions. Today's October 1st. He's a famous first. And what U.S. City was the first skyscraper built?
Starting point is 00:29:29 Lusbogs. New York. Incorrect. Called the home insurance building. Eddie. Eddie. Chicago. Correct.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Dang it. I should just go on my gut. What was the first cable TV network in the United States? Amy. NBC. Incorrect. Lunchbox. Lunchbox.
Starting point is 00:29:45 MTV. Incorrect. Eddie? Yeah. Bravo. No, HBO. Oh, that's a net. What's the difference?
Starting point is 00:29:51 Cable. But NBC, CBS. Those are basic. Right. Yeah. You could get those for free over the old ears. Dang. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Dang it. HBO is the first? According to this, yes. And then finally, final question. Come on, baby. Mr. Watson, come here, I want you. What the? Where the first words spoke.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Eddie. IBM. Incorrect. Oh, Watson. Interesting. Good. Good. Good.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Good. Yeah. But not right. Mr. Watson, come here. I want you. Were the first words spoken on what piece of technology in 1876? Lunchbox. Lunchbox.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Telephone. Correct. You guys are tied. We'll do one more Sunday. Just between Amy, or Eddie and Lynchbox. Yeah, come on. William Henry Harrison was the first
Starting point is 00:30:31 U.S. President to do what? Back in office in 1841. Lunchbox. Lunchbox. Die. Correct, winner. Boom! Boom!
Starting point is 00:30:38 Who knows their history? William Henry Harrison. You know your first. Rest in peace. He was the first president to die. He gave him a rip too. After all these years, he still gets a rip from lunchbox. People are crazy.
Starting point is 00:30:52 obviously. So this one story came out. And so it has to do with a mail carrier. A Michigan man was charged Friday with allegedly assaulting a mail carrier over a Kamala Harris for President Mailer that he delivered to his mailbox. Doesn't this guy know that's going to every mailbox?
Starting point is 00:31:07 He wasn't like targeted. The male guy, male woman doesn't really know what they're putting in. I'm sure they have so much mail. They're just going, okay address. Get it there on time. A Russell Frank Value, 61, was charged by the prosecutor for assaulting a mail carrier,
Starting point is 00:31:23 the mail carrier used pepper spray good to stop the defendant. Oh my goodness. You had to spray to stop the person? This is... He was found nearby, taken into custody. He was charged with one count of ethnic intimidation, a felony, and one count of assault and battery.
Starting point is 00:31:37 If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison. Look, what's wrong with people? What's wrong with people? That's from ABC News. Do you not know the male person just delivers the mail they were told to deliver to whom in whatever place they were told to deliver it to? If he threw that mail out, guess what?
Starting point is 00:31:51 Federal crime. Well, not if it was to him, though. No, I'm saying if the mail guy, if the mailman decided, oh, you know what, I'm not going to give it to this person, they get in trouble for stealing your mail. What's wrong with people? What's wrong with people? What's wrong with people? This story from Fox News, most Americans are hesitant to share their honest opinions on key political issues.
Starting point is 00:32:11 I'm okay with that. Yeah, no, I think we all should just kind of. And I think you should get like a blue check, just like on Instagram, to where if you actually understand technically how passing a bill works. Yeah. I know they vote on it. Right. Who?
Starting point is 00:32:28 But I'm saying the people that are the loudest politically are often the least educated. Because people that are extremely educated on politics realize that every human is flawed. And if you attach yourself to any human whatsoever, that ain't going to end well. And so if someone's like, I'm so Kamala, I am so Trump, and that's part of their personality, those are usually the people that know the least about it. Like this mill carrier dude who got all upset. Like what does he really know except he probably likes somebody? And so very few of us would have blue check marks, even myself in certain parts politically.
Starting point is 00:33:05 You need a blue check mark and you can scream about it. But until you get blue check mark, nope, can't talk about it. But this is what happens. People yell stuff. People say stuff or they post stuff and then people hate them or they fight or they beat up the mail carrier. Or yeah, we have a country that just says stuff without even. understand what we're saying. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I do that too, by the way. I get paid to do it. But yeah, 61% of Americans admitted to self-silencing their true beliefs. No, I'm cool at that. There's this kid on TikTok. He goes up to people at grocery stores, like Lowe's Home Depot, Walmart, wherever, and just ask them like, hey, who are you voting for, Trump or Harris? And they will give their answer.
Starting point is 00:33:44 And a lot of times, though, someone will look at him and say, I'm not saying that in public. and they walk away. And that is probably the smarter thing. Because it has become so divisive. It wasn't always. I can remember being a kid and it kind of didn't matter. You just picked one. I was watching the Vince McMahon documentary and The Rock is at the Republican National
Starting point is 00:34:01 Convention talking. And nobody cared because it's like you understand that even if you disagree, both sides are actually trying to do what they feel is their best vision for the country. Nobody feels that way anymore about whatever team they're not on. The other team is trying to ruin America and kill the country. So we've lost any ability To have any sanity When it comes to politics or even political discourse
Starting point is 00:34:25 It's wild We don't talk politics on the show at all Because there's no Why would I? What's the need? You're not going to change anybody's mind Whoever's an undecided voter right now, you're lying I'm not met a single undecided voter
Starting point is 00:34:38 In six years I met people who just don't care Passive Yeah, they're apathetic toward the situation at all But yeah There's no such thing as an undecided voter I should start, I'm an un-decided voter from Michigan and they get all the stuff that's... That's right.
Starting point is 00:34:51 They just love you. Just lie about it. The findings from this are Americans don't trust the government or the media and are hesitant to publicly admit their true feelings on a variety of key issues. This could be critical with the presidential election looming as many Americans feel pressure to support a specific candidate or issues publicly, but wouldn't necessarily vote that way in private. Whenever Trump won, he underpolled because people were afraid to say they were voting for him. And then what happened was, there were a lot of people that were afraid to say that actually went and voted. and he won. And so now they have to account for that in the polls.
Starting point is 00:35:22 It's a ugly system. That's why I was taking like a half step back from me thinking about running in it. Yeah. It's just too ugly. There are two jobs right now that I think people don't understand what most of the job is. Myself included until I like was well versed. I was baptized into it. One, running for office because basically all you do is ask for money.
Starting point is 00:35:45 That's it. get on the phone and ask for money all the time. That's 80% of that job. We don't see it. We see the people going out. You have to just ask for money. You're calling people. Can I have money? Can have money? Can I have money? That's one. The other one's a head football coach. Now at the college level, because you know what you do? You get on the phone, you say, can have money, can have money. Yeah. And so I have friends, buddies that aren't quite friends, but at that middle level who are head football coaches at division one colleges. And I'll text and be like, what's even happening? And like, all we do all day is for money because we have to have money now. And those are the two jobs. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Is it a politician? Is that like a job people want to do? Is that just me? No, no, not us. Zero desire to do it. No one wants that. See, I feel like I would like to do it. And here's why.
Starting point is 00:36:25 One, I don't need it for the notoriety. I think a lot of people, that's the new, I can be famous by running for office. And so people want to be, so big opinions, they get voted in. They're now famous. They can go on political talk shows. And the more polar you are,
Starting point is 00:36:40 the more you get put on. on these shows. So let's just act crazy. Yeah. So, and that's what these shows, these CNNs, these Fox News, want to book, people with absolute polar opinions because that's what drives ratings. Remember, the news is not a public service. The news is a business. The crazier things get,
Starting point is 00:36:55 the higher their ratings, the more they can charge for commercials. So we have to remember that. Secondly, it's like if you're a politician, for the most part, you get to be a politician because you have the financial resources to do that. Like to let most, not all politicians come from money. or at some point have money given to them.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Because otherwise, how do you not have a job? You got to pay your light bill. It's hard to run for office on a big level, not city council, but on a big level, if you got to still pay your light bill. And so I feel like for me, the reason I would want to do it is because I've been through that where it's like food insecurity, can't pay bills. Like I know what that's like. And I think that's rare for someone that gets into politics.
Starting point is 00:37:38 And at this point now, I have been financially independent enough. I could just run on my own money. And that's always been the goal. Be so rich I can pay for my own campaign. See, that's where it's at. Because, like, when you ask for money, don't you promise people things? Sort of. Their understandings?
Starting point is 00:37:53 Their understandings? Like, I'm going to give you this money, but you got to make out with your wife. What? Whoa. Now, keep the money. Keep the money. That to me is the one reason I think eventually I should get into public office is because I've been through the real S-H blank, blank sandwich of it.
Starting point is 00:38:11 or a lot of rich people who get in, they have no idea. They're just rich and they just want, what are we going to do? Might as well run for office. Can they do something else? Yeah, why would you like want to hate the people to hate you? It wasn't always like that though.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Now it is. Like one side, if you're the Republican, half the difference. But not always. Look at Kentucky. They have a, they have,
Starting point is 00:38:29 it's a very red state with a very blue governor. But his dad was also governor. And he's also not extremely liberal. He's very moderate with some liberal, with even some conservative, even some conservative, even some conservative. conservative beliefs,
Starting point is 00:38:42 brochures. Like, so it's not like that everywhere, but it is mostly like that. Where it's like, if you're one, everybody hates you on the other side. And I can't get anything done if everybody hates me. Yeah, but if you are a politician,
Starting point is 00:38:53 you get a lot of things for free. I'll come to this concert, come to this game, come to here. Some of that will get you in trouble. New York's mayor. Yeah. Oh, gosh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:02 What are he indicted for? Allegedly some stuff where he was taking improper benefits, like from travel. Is that Chris? Who is that? No, that was the former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Starting point is 00:39:14 I saw that Sabrina Carpenter was bragging that she's the one that got him indicted but I don't know about... Same person. But I don't know what she did like how.
Starting point is 00:39:23 I didn't click that headline either. I was like, oh cool, you got something in trouble. Tattletail. Eric Adams is the guy in New York. And he's the New York City mayor. So, yeah, anyway. We... It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:39:36 I just feel like I should at some point get in because I actually care about people but I don't, here's the thing that gets me in trouble. I don't care about rich people. I give no craps about rich people. I know I need to, but I don't care about rich people. I only care about poor people and a little bit middle.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Because I think of what? Well, I know, but I don't know. Just finding a way of service to care about all. I know. That's my problem. Like I dislike rich people. Wouldn't you fall into that category now? Yes, I'm rich.
Starting point is 00:40:04 Just like yourself. Yes. And you dislikes himself sometimes. But you don't want to figure out a way for it to work for everyone. I don't know. I do. But I feel like I had to get this way through a lot of sacrifice and work. And I guess I just hate rich people that have money given to them.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Yeah. Which is not fair either. That's what it is. It's not fair either for me to feel that way. They were born that way. Because I'm sure maybe they were born with it. Yeah. Maybe it's Mabelene.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Yeah. Okay, I'm done. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me. Clever Taylor the fourth. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,

There's an economic component to communities thriving. If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities, they fail. And what I mean by fail is they don't have money to pay for food. They cannot feed their kids.
Starting point is 00:44:51 They do not have homes. Communities don't work unless there's money. flowing through them. Listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Bobby Bone Show.
Starting point is 00:45:06 Bonehead. Norrie up the day. This story comes us from Caldwell County, North Carolina. A man was up in a utility bucket, you know, fixing the line. He's up there working on it. Someone comes walking by goes, huh, that truck's on. I think I'm going to steal it. Oh, the bucket's also attached to the truck, right?
Starting point is 00:45:24 Yeah. The pole goes... So the dude jumps in the truck, starts driving with the guy in the bucket. Down the highway. Doesn't see the guy in the bucket, I'm assuming. Like, that's not part of it. Like, this will be fun to drive with somebody up in the bucket. It doesn't say if he knew the guy was in the bucket.
Starting point is 00:45:40 I wouldn't think they did. Okay. But the guy was able to throw himself out of the bucket and he has a safety harness, so he's just dangling in the air. Oh, that's crazy. He has to snap his own line to fall to the ground so he's not getting thrown by the truck. Harts his leg. And a few miles.
Starting point is 00:45:54 down the road, the dude crashed the truck. Luckily, the guy didn't die. How about the guy, you're up in the bucket, and all of a sudden, you're like, am I moving? Because there has to be a thought for just a second. Like, am I move? Oh, my God. Wow. And so the guy, though.
Starting point is 00:46:09 He had been in jail before and just stole the truck. Just saw a running truck and thought there's an opportunity. Yeah. A guy who likes an opportunity. I mean, that's a pretty good, that's pretty cool. But what he did do is with the big bucket, he knocked down numerous power lines because he's driving, boom, boom, boom. They had to shut down the highway for 12 hours.
Starting point is 00:46:27 That's crazy. That's crazy. I'm Lunchbox. That's your Bonehead Story of the Day. I was thinking about your daughter yesterday and how her homecoming went. That sucked. Well, yeah, it didn't impact her, though, so that helps. Are you sure? Because I would say stuff too, like, that doesn't bother me. I mean, I think just overall she was bummed that she wasn't asked or didn't have a date that she actually really liked or had a fun friend to go with.
Starting point is 00:46:50 So yes. But I don't think she was bummed that he sort of. was lame because she didn't like him. I know, but it's like she had to take pictures by herself. Yeah. Go to day. But maybe, I don't know, I was just upset about that all day long. And that's probably not the worst of all this.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Kids are just jerks, I guess. I think that, yeah, she realized too, I didn't even have it as bad. Like there was one girl that just got left by her date and then she didn't even have a ride home. No way. Yeah. So the dude that drove her just, because I'm assuming they're all 16, 17. Her date. Yeah, it's the whole school.
Starting point is 00:47:24 What's up with these dudes? It's really weird. I'm thinking like, what? If I found out that my son or daughter left someone and they had been their date and driven them there and they just was like, okay, I'm going to go now. What was that story? Do you know why you left? I don't know all the details.
Starting point is 00:47:39 We don't know them. I just know that that happened. And I kind of thought, oh, well, that is just a bummer. And what is happening? Guys are jerks. That's what's happening. Yeah, teen boys. And when I was thinking, what's wrong with teenage boys these days?
Starting point is 00:47:50 They're teenage boys. I remember teen boys when I was in high school and they would do similar. thing. Could have been like three other friends being like, come on man, let's just go. Yeah. And he had to feel cool. And so he left.
Starting point is 00:48:01 She had to figure out her pride. I know. The good news is homecoming is lame. Yes. It's kind of fun and novel while it's happening. But homecoming's lame. Prom, different story.
Starting point is 00:48:11 Oh, my daughter did say to me, I am not going with this guy to prom. And I said, well, I hope not because first of all, you don't really like him. But second of all, prom is a ways away. Yeah. Wait, did she go to prom this year? You mean ways away this year?
Starting point is 00:48:24 Yeah, like, she said it about prom coming up, which would be what, like next April or May. Yeah, but they start asking now. What? Like end of the year. Yeah, of course. Oh, I thought we'd least wait until spring. For April or May prom? You could, but I mean, I think January is when it starts to happen.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Oh, I don't know, because I never got asked a prom. I had asked my date. Nobody asked me. But I asked my ex-boyfriend. Oh, no. He went. That's a whole other deal. All right, we're out of here.
Starting point is 00:48:52 We'll get to that another day. We will see you. tomorrow. Goodbye, everybody. Yeah. Bobby Bones.com. The Bobby Bones show theme song, written, produced, and sang by Reed Yarberry. You can find his Instagram at Reed Yarberry. Scoobie Steve, executive producer.
