Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed human. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits,
Starting point is 00:00:13 my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, the Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
Starting point is 00:00:28 So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. This is Julian Edelman, host of games with names. On our latest episode, we got comedian Blake Anderson from Workaholics and The Hilarious This Is Important Podcast. Let's go! We did beat them in improv. You had an improv against the team?
Starting point is 00:00:53 Yes, we would pull up their schools, would be there with signs for us. It's competition. What you would win. is a bottle of gold slover. James Fester threw it out of a van because he didn't want us drinking it. For more games with names, visit the IHeartRadial app
Starting point is 00:01:07 or wherever you get your podcast. Readers, Katie's finalists, publicists, we have an incredible new episode this week for you guys. We have our girl Hillary Duff in here, and we can't wait for you to hear this episode. They put on Lizzie McGuire 2am, video on demand.
Starting point is 00:01:21 This guy's bobo-o-bub-a-m, whatever time it is, Lizzie McGuire, and I'm like, a wild batch you were with. It was like a first closet moment from you're like, I don't feel like she's hot, like the rest of that. No, no, no. I was like, she's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:01:33 But I'm appreciating her in a different way than these boys are. I'm not like, but listen to Los Coleristas on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or whatever you get your podcast. It's time for the Bobby Bones post show. Here's your host, Bobby Bones. Hello, everybody. Lunchbox, you applied for your first game show? I didn't know what would be your first one ever. Yeah, because you guys tell me that you can just go online and fill these things out.
Starting point is 00:02:10 So I went and found the, what, the $250,000 pyramid, whatever it's called. And that'd be a good one to be on. Yeah, because I feel like I play the game at home where you give the clue and you can't say certain words trying to describe it. Hey, can somebody make us a game or like and see how a lunchbox and I would do it pyramid? Like, it's very, I'm sure you can find some options online too. But I feel like that would be a good one. Yeah, so I fill it all out and I get to the bottom. says, do you have anything happening April 1st through the 15th of 20203?
Starting point is 00:02:41 That's when we plan on filming. And I'm like, well, why would you still have it on your website? Like, that's over a year ago. And so I wasted all that time. All what time? Filling out like name. Oh, you did fill it all out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:54 And then because as you go down, you're answering questions and uploading pictures. And then you get to the bottom and it says, we plan to film between April 1st and April 15th, 2023. If you have anything on those dates, please, let us know. And I'm like, well, take it down. And the world's out to get you, man. So now I need to figure out where you find like these game shows. Like game shows you've never, they've never been on TV. How do people know to apply for them? I would bet you if you just Google, well, I think a lot of them are spam sites. I get nervous. Spam sites? Sounds like he was on one. I bet you there is some sort of
Starting point is 00:03:31 search. Or even go to like game show network. They're, website. And I bet you all their game shows are listed and you can probably just click through there to see if you're like what about the ones on ABC and NBC. I bet once you get in it, they send you things, right? Well, that and there are so few on networks that you can literally just look and see what the shows are on ABC or NBC and go to their sites. Because I mean, sometimes game shows come out that you've never even heard of. Like it's their, oh, coming up, we're debuting a new game show. And it's like, how do they know to apply for that? Well, because like Amy said, it's like a mailing list. Let's say you sign up for you buy some golf clubs. and you enter your email address for golf clubs so they can send you the receipt. Well, they may sell that to like golf ballmakers.
Starting point is 00:04:15 They may sell that to all these guys that then can contact you. Same thing, if you apply for a game show, the same people sometimes to get that mailing list will have that for other shows as well. So it's all connected. Not saying they sell a game show, but sometimes it's the same people, like casting people. Like when I did and hosted Snake in the Grass,
Starting point is 00:04:32 one of our casting people, I believe, had worked on Survivor. Oh, so I say you're Survivor people. Well, not even just Survivor, but like they had a database of all these people from all these shows. Even shows, even people that hadn't been on shows before, but they had applied. Oh. So it's just like getting in the database. That's interesting because there is a person like on Big Brother this year. She has been on Dr. Phil.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Price is Right. I think Sally, Jesse Raphael. And now she's on Big Brother. I'm like, huh. It took us five seconds. If you go to ABC.com slash casting, there are multiple things you can get on. You can get on Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
Starting point is 00:05:12 You can get on the Great Halloween Fright Night. Yeah, but I don't do that. But there's a $100,000 pyramid. You can be on Judge Steve Harvey. But I'm saying all of these shows they're doing, they're casting from right on this site. No, no, that's where I was. And I did the $100,000 pyramid one.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Pressureluckcasting.com, but you did one and you're giving up. But so I'm saying, if it's on ABC, dot com slash casting. But they forgot to take down the link. That's just one. Of many. You can also go to game show network dot com. I'm looking at the thing. It's like you didn't want. It didn't work out and then you just quit. No, I got nervous that maybe I was
Starting point is 00:05:44 on a bad site. You weren't. You should just keep trying and Judge Steve Harvey. I don't have anything to litigate. Hey, Ramon, Ramundo, do we have another dealer in the office? Yeah, unfortunately. What was stolen now? So I've caught him. I haven't seen him in person
Starting point is 00:06:00 but they've done it about four times now. They come downstairs around 4.30 in the morning, go into our green room and steal some of the coffee pods. That's where they all go? It's somebody from upstairs and I've yet to catch them. But when I do, there will be video and picture. And everybody will know who it is? So what do you think is happening? Somebody that's working probably, oh, that's not radio up there. If it's somebody. There's radio up there. Oh, there's still stations up there? There's the rock station. There's the... I thought that whole thing was dominated by whatever bought this building. 90% of it is. Yeah, there's a small portion that still exists. Well, it's got to be one of the radio people then running one of those boards.
Starting point is 00:06:35 There's only two live shows up there. Can we not lock our doors? We can, yeah. But we don't because we feel like we don't need to. Ray's here. Ray gets here at midnight. Do you have a key, Ray? Yeah, I can lock it.
Starting point is 00:06:47 And at the same time, I could have easily gone around the corner, but I was also a little frightened. I just heard somebody at the wee hours of the morning coming down in heels. But you were frightened about someone walking in heels in the building? Well, then to come around the corner and be like, hi, got you. Ah! Ah! That's just a lot at 430 in the morning.
Starting point is 00:07:02 I mean, I would understand like an alley, like a dark alley in the middle of the night, but work. Yeah. But I will catch them. I vow to. You guys have my word. But someone stole your hot pockets. That was back in the day.
Starting point is 00:07:15 That guy's been since fired. He was the rock guy. Wasn't it a toaster struddle? Toaster shrewdle from the freezer. He was an older gentleman and when they made some cuts, he left the company. Okay. It wasn't the guy that was just fired. No.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Different rock guy. Got it. Those rock guys, man. They're always have to no good. Short lifespans there. We always talk about shows we're watching.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Like we did Tuesday, reviews day today so you can hear that. Ray wants to submit a show that he watched and he stopped watching before he finished it because it was so bad.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Oh. So what was that? Yeah, it's big brother, so I'm officially done with that. And I offer that up to you guys. Is there something you've just quit on because it's so god awful? Because we always talk about the Rosie shows.
Starting point is 00:07:57 What about the ones that have the worst writers and the worst actors and not even worth half of an episode? We only watched one episode. I think my wife's going to keep watching it. A lady in the lake. Oh.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Never heard of it. I started that. Kind of forgot I did. What? That's weird. Natalie Portman's in it. So we thought, well, this has got to be good. And it was number two.
Starting point is 00:08:17 It was presumed innocent on the lineup. Which, who knows how they're putting that together? But I'm like, well, presumed innocent at number one, that's accurate. So if they have this at number two, then it must be accurate. And I, no, I will say I wasn't paying full attention. but it just couldn't follow. Like once I saw these big characters, did you see them?
Starting point is 00:08:36 Like, I'm just like, they're like... I watched the whole episode. Okay, what'd you think? I'm good not watching another episode. Okay, I think I'm with you. But if Kail and might keep going, then... I think she just wants to give it more of a chance. It's 75% of Rotten Tomatoes.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Okay. Maybe I need to give it more. I finished the first episode and I was like, what happened here? I don't even understand. And I'm someone who feels like I should give every show a couple episodes. If I don't have a feeling
Starting point is 00:09:01 at all, but I just didn't feel like this was good. Yeah, it wasn't really mean, and I feel like presumed innocent. Like after the first episode, I was like, okay, can't wait for more. Like SuperCill? First episode, I watched it. I was like, I don't know. But I'm like, I was so uncommitted that I was like, I'm going to commit a little bit more. And I watched it and loved it. Six episodes. Great. It's on Netflix. I gave up on that one you were watching after the first episode. Yeah, I don't, you don't want to know.
Starting point is 00:09:27 The one about the guy with the other life and the other, no, no. No, no. I watched that. But you hated it. I watched it all the way through. You hated it? Yes. But I watched the entire season. Okay, then you're thinking of...
Starting point is 00:09:39 Deeper... The guy that he, like, went to a... Dark matter. Dark matter. Yeah, that... It's awesome. Okay. You guys watch some weird shows.
Starting point is 00:09:48 No. Like, you literally... I can't believe you didn't like Dark Matter. Yeah. My wife even like Dark Matter. Well, I don't know. I can't explain it. And she's not so nerdy about shows like I am
Starting point is 00:09:59 where I love, like, uh, time. time travel, other dimensions, aliens. I like all that stuff. Mike, do you ever watch Talk Matter? What episode? Did you quit? I just started another show.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Losers. You're all losers. Thank you, Mike. New episode of Sunny comes on. It's supposed to be tomorrow, but like a Wednesday comes on Tuesday on 8 o'clock on Apple Plus. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Yeah, that's been interesting for sure. Sunny's been good. Okay, lunchbox, do you want to play the game? I've made up a game. Yeah. So we're going to do Pyramid. Ray, can you give me some game show music? What's the category?
Starting point is 00:10:34 Is there a category at the beginning? Yeah. Okay, the category is words I just came up with. Got it. Do you have any sort of that we can use without going to podcast jail? Because I could do a category. I didn't do it like that, though. And then we have, that's good.
Starting point is 00:10:48 We have 30 seconds. Yeah. 30 seconds on the clock starts. Now, rough rough. Dog. Correct. You jump over it. Hurtle.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Correct. You just discovered this. No, podcast. Correct. You eat it and it's in a bun. Hot dog. Correct. You put this on your head and... Hat. No, no, no. You put this on your head so if someone tackles you in your head... A helmet. Correct. Winner. We just want a $100,000 pyramid. Why do you go hot dog versus hamburger?
Starting point is 00:11:21 Is it a bun? I don't know. Okay. I was just... We just won $100,000. It's just like you jump over something. Well, I was looking at lunchbox's face, so I didn't know if when you said it, did you like act like you were holding the hot dog? No. No. But he said jump over something and I said hurdle first thing.
Starting point is 00:11:35 What would you say? No, I would not do that. This is a hamburger. This is a hot dog. That doesn't like a hot dog. What? I'm just saying, how did he go? If you said bun,
Starting point is 00:11:49 hot dog would be my second. Hamburger would be my first. So I was just impressed. Well, it's 50-50. So I think he would got it. I think he'd dominate that show. I'd be so fun to be on. I've watched that show and it is like so entertaining.
Starting point is 00:12:00 and I'm like, I'd be jumping out of the chair. Come on. The Joey on Friends Pyramid is one of the funny episodes ever. That's funny. A ghost. You know that one? Yeah, yeah, that episode's good. Experts say for the sake of your marriage, take a vacation before school gets back into full swing.
Starting point is 00:12:16 We have one week. These stories are always funny to me because people just act like people can just afford to go on vacations because someone's like, you should take a vacation. A couple therapists say that putting off a vacation can be detrimental to your marriage. This is from brides.com. the reason is traveling together as a family strengthens your bond. Thoughts on that part. Does a family take your kids on the vacation too? I mean, I think, yeah, I think you're experiencing something together.
Starting point is 00:12:43 And hopefully that negates any of the other stressful things that may come along with traveling as a family. Those surveyed were asked to rate their relationships based on the various factors. Time spent to go, blah, blah, blah, blah. It just says go on a vacation. Wait, school starts next week. A week from today. Well, for me, it was a week from yesterday.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Yeah, Tuesday is mine. Are you, and your kids still go back and forth, even during school, right? Yeah. Oh, that's crazy. 50, 50. Even during school, though. So you don't even see them for a week about their schoolwork? Like, you just don't even know what's going on?
Starting point is 00:13:14 They could lie to you like a substitute teacher. No, no, I know. Their dad and I talk. I mean, they can't get away with that. That's got to be rare that you would, two people that used to be married and got divorced lived so close because you're both still on the school district. or no? Yeah, we're very close. They live so close that the kids can still go to the same school. We were intentional about all of that, yeah. So, and I get not everybody can be that way.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Sometimes someone moves further away. And in that case, I don't know that you do week on, week off. Do you do like weekends or something looks a little bit different? But for us, like, we were very intentional of trying to live close to each other and we do Friday to Friday. Do you like it when it's off and you have the house to yourself? Well, I haven't this, I mean, I think I've started to get used to it, but this summer I've had my niece there as a buffer. So I think once my niece leaves, I'll find out how I'm really feeling because it can get pretty lonely and weird. And sometimes I have an emotional, I can tell like if something's off in me, I'm like, oh, it's probably because today is swap day. That's what it's called, swap day.
Starting point is 00:14:22 In my mind, I don't say it to the kids. Like, come on, swap day. But they've got it down. They know Friday, Friday they go to dads. They get their stuff together. And then summer's a little weird because you don't have school
Starting point is 00:14:34 as that buffer. But school does help because Friday, they go to school for my house. And then after school on Friday, they go home to dad's house. So there's no weird. And then they get to go right into a weekend.
Starting point is 00:14:48 So if thinking about how you have to go from your mom's to your dad's is maybe even a little bit taxing on the brain, they have the weekend to relax. It's not, because we first consider, Sunday to Sunday. And then I got some wisdom from someone that was had done Sunday to Sunday and they're like, I can't recommend Friday to Friday enough for your brain, their brains, everybody's brains.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Because then you're getting the first weekend you get the kids like on Friday they'll go be with their dad like say they've been with me. They lead with a weekend. And they lead with the weekend. And nobody's, you know, when you've got the kids as a single parent, it's a busy week. You don't have a partner to tag team with. Like it's all you that week. So then if you have them on Sunday to Sunday, you go through a busy week and then that's your weekend with them and everybody's tired and then I don't know it's it's worked out well I was glad to get that advice so that's why I'm just sharing that in case anybody else is in the same boat Friday to Friday is pretty clutch according to a press release from the national park service this guy is 42 he went to uh death valley which is the desert the dunes
Starting point is 00:15:47 and his flip flops broke and so he wasn't able to walk on his flip flop so he had to walk on his bare feet and it burned his feet so bad he has severe burns on his feet now That's how hot it is. Probably not a good idea to wear sandals. Where was he? Death Valley. Which is, I don't know exactly where that is. I know it's over west.
Starting point is 00:16:07 I think it's like Arizona's, although I don't know. Right. I was supposed to go somewhere. California. Oh, California. Well, yeah. The National Park Service report of the ground temperature would have been hotter than the air temperature.
Starting point is 00:16:16 The air temperature was 123 degrees Fahrenheit. Oh my God. A medical helicopter cannot land within Death Valley because of the intense heat. So the guy was taken to an ambulance by, by car, and then once he got to a higher elevation, they had to then take him to the hospital. But he burned his feet so bad, W-Y-M-T. Yeah, I was supposed to do something in Arizona coming up,
Starting point is 00:16:36 and they canceled it because the temps were going to be like 115, and they were having a hard time getting people to want to come. Yeah, I told you, a guy, I know his Southwest flight was delayed hours because it was too hot. Yeah, heat. I've never heard that. I mean, that's wild. I can't believe it's so hot that helicopter can't land.
Starting point is 00:16:53 A scuba diving couple reveals how they stayed alive for 38 hours while lost at sea. An Oklahoma couple who went missing while scuba diving has spoken out revealing the horrific injuries they suffered. Nathan and Kim Maker spent 38 hours floating in the treacherous waters of the Texas coast after a storm separated them from their diving group. That is horrible. Oh my gosh. The couple held on to each other for dear life as the U.S. Coast Guard searched over 1,600 miles for them. They suffered jellyfish stings and sunburns
Starting point is 00:17:25 while treading the shark-infested waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The family said Nathan was nearly in a diabetic coma when he was rescued. The couple was spotted by a plane flying over the Gulf of Mexico. Quote, because our body temperatures were dropping, we needed to keep swimming or we probably would have frozen to death. The couple got separated from their group after helping another woman who had lost her grip on the downline, a rope that helps divers get to calm our waters.
Starting point is 00:17:50 As the woman grabbed the rope, Kim got knocked off, and the storm quickly rolled in. sweeping away the couple. K-O-C-O. There is no way. Crazy. There is no freaking way. Like, how do you stay?
Starting point is 00:18:02 I mean, how do you find them in the water? And, like, I feel like if they get separated, should it be like 10 feet and then the boat just circles around and gets them? No, I know. How they can disappear. Right. But I have no idea because I'm not ocean guy. I don't know how waves move you that fast.
Starting point is 00:18:17 And in a lake, yes, that's the answer. In the lake, you'd find me pretty easy. Lake, Wash. Taw, you're going to find me. If I'm up, you're going to find me. me. Ocean? I don't know how you fall that far that quickly. Right.
Starting point is 00:18:27 There must be massive ways. And there's massive ways. What are we doing? Scooby-diving. But also it's like the storm's rolling in. Get on the boat! And it's the people, they're floating away.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Can't people just watch them for a minute? They're there. You just keep pointing. Right. Just keep... Obviously they can't. Yeah. In our minds, it's a little...
Starting point is 00:18:42 Obviously you can't. I was watching a video on TikTok. Did Roya Alswald? Was he the one that died? The pitcher. What? Years ago. Who?
Starting point is 00:18:51 Holiday. Oh, Roll holiday. Oh, Roll holiday. I was watching his airplane, the story about his airplane. So he took his airplane out, Alpha Florida, thank you, Ray. And he was flying around, because after he retired baseball, he was like looking for adventure. And he's flying around and he's doing, you know, ups and downs and ups and downs. He's flying in an airplane where he does loops?
Starting point is 00:19:10 No loops, but ups and downs. But it was one of those planes that you can kind of do that with. It looked kind of a weird-looking little plane. And people were seeing him do it, and they saw him crash right into the water. that he was like skimming the water really low when did he crash oh this was years ago 5, 6, 7 years ago
Starting point is 00:19:26 so what did you see? 2017 huh what made you think of this talking about the ocean and them disappearing he was doing that over the ocean on his plane
Starting point is 00:19:33 like he was like flying and going way up and way down and finally he hit they went out and tried to rescue him it was an icon A5 an amphibious aircraft I mean it looks like a little like video game
Starting point is 00:19:50 kind of thing that he was in. That is just... Yeah, that's crazy. A guy rescued from a well when trying to retrieve his phone. Now, this would be something that happened to me.
Starting point is 00:20:01 This I can easily understand. A guy in Georgia had to be rescued from a well after he became trapped while trying to retrieve his dropped phone. Police were alerted to the missing man when a son came to them reporting that he was missing. According to the boy,
Starting point is 00:20:13 his unnamed father went back out to look for his phone after he'd lost it. Cops eventually found the missing man's car heard his phone ringing. Oh my gosh. And then heard him screaming from the well 50 feet underground. If you fall like that, how do you not break all your bones? Unless you hit water. Yeah, that could. But even then, how deep can the well be? The man was able to be rescued, but he had to be taken from the woods on a stretcher. The extent of his injuries have been reported. The good news is the phone still works. They did get the phone. Fox 5 Atlanta. It rang.
Starting point is 00:20:44 Yeah, I know, but if they're down there, like, aren't they just worried about the dude? I guess he probably got the phone when he got the phone with them. Surprised he had enough bars to answer down that deep. I know. I can barely get service in certain parts of my house. Same. I have parts of my house. I think yesterday when I was so sick and laying on the floor,
Starting point is 00:21:01 my wife were trying to find me because we have each other on find my iPhone. And she couldn't because I was in the part of the house where there's no cell. The house! Yeah, I know. It's weird bit. Bottom of a well. Air Canada flights canceled after a flight attendant goes berserk when a passenger asked for a blanket. They still have blankets on a plane?
Starting point is 00:21:21 I guess if you ask for them. I don't know that. They still got pillows you can ask for too? Don't know to never ask. I used to. A Montreal-bound Air Canada flight was canceled after a flight attendant was caught on camera ranting and raving at a passenger
Starting point is 00:21:32 who had asked for a blanket. Video of the incident shows the enraged female flight attendant gesturing angrily while yelling at the unseen passenger. Quote, you will behave or we will get off. I don't want no bullying. It's my crew. I wonder, though, too, if the passenger was a jerk.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Yeah, I don't know. It sounds like there was more to it than just asking for the blanket. I don't know. There's that recent story with that one former NFL, you know what I'm talking about? I saw. I mean, that's the story of the flight attendant going off. I mean, and the reason why we believe him is, A, he has no reason to lie about it. His kids were there as a witness.
Starting point is 00:22:11 There was other travelers. His wife was a row back as a witness. And then they're on, you know, with Robin Roberts, trying to explain what the heck happen and it seems like that flight attendant just went off for no reason. Yeah, you're right. Maybe that flight attendant's like a chiefs fan. Yeah, something. I don't think the flight attendant obviously realized, like, maybe who he was.
Starting point is 00:22:31 I think, well, I don't know. I haven't heard an update on any of that. I just heard them or saw a clip of them on that show. My initial reaction was she probably was. Oh, was it a girl? Oh, I thought, whomever. I just pictured it as a guy. I think it was a woman.
Starting point is 00:22:45 I picture, I mean, most, I get on a plane, most are women. Yeah. So I think that's why... It used to be exclusively... Well, I was picturing a guy because, like, I don't know. I just couldn't picture a woman being that bunch of a jerk
Starting point is 00:22:55 to someone asking for ice for their kids. Yeah, I figure it was because he's black. Because he... When it's somebody white and it's that, my first thing is, okay, who's being racist and why is it... Right. That was my first thought too.
Starting point is 00:23:05 And then I guess he tapped him like, hey, ice and he was like, don't hit me. That's why I assumed it was a man, but I guess if a woman was like, don't hit me. I don't know who it was. Again, I just said woman because most... But that's just crazy that also then the FBI
Starting point is 00:23:17 like came on the plane and hand like took him off and they're like don't resist and escorted him off the plane like he just seemed so dramatic for no reason the attendant didn't hear him so davis calmly tapped the unlawed employee on the arm to get attention the flight attendant shouted don't hit me and hurried to the front of the plane leaving the beverage cart behind davis said when the plane landed a group of six FBI agents the sheriff's deputies walked on oh my gosh yeah in front of everybody and the wife was like what is happening can you explain to me what happened what is happening yeah All right, we're going to do a little mid roll here, take a break. You guys, hold on one second.
Starting point is 00:23:50 A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. Starting point is 00:24:45 you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights. to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change.
Starting point is 00:25:32 We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I feel like it was a little bit unbelievable until I really start making money. It's Financial Literacy Month, and the podcast, Eating While Broke, is bringing real conversations about money, growth, and building your future. This month, hear from top streamer Zoe Spencer and venture capitalist Lakeisha Landrum-Pierre, as they share their journeys from starting out to leveling up. If I'm outside with my parents and they're seeing all these people come up to me for pictures,
Starting point is 00:26:15 it's like, what? Today now, obviously, it's like 100%. that they believe everything, but at first it was just like, you got to go get a real job. There's an economic component to community striving. If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities, they fail. And what I mean by fail is they don't have money to pay for food. They cannot feed their kids. They do not have homes.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Communities don't work unless there's money flowing through them. Listen to eating while broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Speaking of flights of Boston-bound United flight was diverted after both passengers and crew began vomiting which reminds me of What's that movie? Were they all eating the pie? And they all start vomiting? Stand by me.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Yeah, stand by me. The pie eating contest. Pie, yes. I was singing in an airplane, but you're just saying pie, vomit. Got it. Huh? I was thinking if there was a story of like people being... Siri, I sing in an airplane.
Starting point is 00:27:17 I said, shut up. What did you say to make that? I was trying to think of like a story of people. No, no, what did you say to make that trigger? I have no idea. You said, I thought you said, I thought it was something about an airplane. And she goes, I don't know anything about an airplane. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Like you were just thinking of the movie and pie and people getting sick. Yeah, people seeing and everybody vomiting. I was trying to think of people on an airplane vomiting. Well, they had to land the plane and do a deep clean after a passenger got sick. And it was so severe that crew. members and others on board started vomiting themselves, which I think was from the smell. Oh my gosh. Oh, that's tough.
Starting point is 00:27:54 I mean, I had one time when I was leaving Vegas, I had the window seat and the girl in the aisle. There was no one in the middle. And before she had her sunglasses on and she was already puking in the little puk bag in the seat. And then she was just like looking so bad. They brought her an entire trash bag. And she just sat there. And they went full bag on her. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:12 And she just sat there and vomited in the bag. Oh, gross. A woman goes to sleep in her. hotel room with the air conditioner on and ends up in the hospital. The filter was loaded with the bacteria, they think. Oh. She got tonsillitis from the AC. The weirdest way is to go to the hospital. You just turned the air on in a hotel. But how would you check that? You wouldn't. You have no way to check that. Well, you hope they'd check their filters. The next day, she woke up groggy and her mom noticed spots on her tonsils. She was put on an IV drop and drip, whatever, and spent
Starting point is 00:28:42 five hours from tonsillitis. Doctors said it was the air conditioner, moldy air. Oh. New York Post. Did you see the story about the Airbnb guy who he put a cover on his thermostat? And so the people there couldn't get it down below 80. No. It was in Florida. And so he said that people have been going in. And as soon as they go in, they turn it on 61 or 62.
Starting point is 00:29:06 I mean, it's not their bill. So they go in. So he put a cover over it. You can still see it, but it wouldn't go below 80. That would be miserable. I give them bad review. That's pretty bad. You need to have that on your-
Starting point is 00:29:16 Bad review. You know, profile. When people are exploring if they're going to stay there, it's like, oh, FYI. Man, I never thought about that with an Airbnb. You got to pay the bill. So they could run the water and just let it run. They could just turn the water on for three days. Wow.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Or just leave lights on? Oh, man. We got to rethink this. A Michigan man bought a few scratch-off tickets. On a whim, won a million bucks. On a whim. Doesn't usually buy them. On a whim.
Starting point is 00:29:40 On a whim. I buy them on a whim and I win nothing. Yours are not whimmed. Yours are strategic, strategic. No, one day I just feel like buying them. I don't have a set day. No, but you buy them a lot. You're right.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Star Wars memorabilia auctions off for big bucks. So a couple things. On Friday, a filming miniature of a Y-Wing Starfighter from a 1977 Star Wars, A New Hope, sold for $1.55 million. Princess Leia's gold bikini costume sold for $175,000. Wow.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Final movie poster artwork for Star Trek 4, the Voyage Home sold for $106,000. A poster? Yeah, I don't know what that means. Final movie poster artwork. They paint it and it's like the main one and they take pictures of that one.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Okay, that makes different. I was like, just a movie poster that hung up with the movies? A Thorhammer used in filming Thor the Dark World sold for $81,000. Don't know that movie. And a... Thor?
Starting point is 00:30:43 Do you know his hammer? Yeah, I know Thor is because of it. and babysitting. Thor from Avengers. Yeah, I've never seen it. You never saw any of the Avengers? Iron Man. I've seen Iron Man.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Yeah, they're good. Who are the other ones? Like Captain America have, is he in that? Yeah. I've never seen him. Snoopy. That ain't right. Captain America, Iron Man, Ant Man.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Okay. He wasn't an Avenger, but he was one of those guys, right? He was an Avenger? Yeah, later. I think I've seen Ant Man. Man, it was really stupid. I didn't really understand it. A Mandalorian helmet for $40,000 from a variety.
Starting point is 00:31:23 An 11-year-old's charged for making swatting calls against schools. Whoa, 11? Yeah. Yeah, that sucks. Twinkie's new mystery flavor puts taste buds to the test. What are the best snacks? The best snack kicks. I think Twinkies are so underrated generally, especially in milk.
Starting point is 00:31:40 I don't even like milk, but I'll drink. I put milk in my cereal. I don't ever crave a Twinkie. I don't crave it, but when I have one with, milk, I love it. Okay. Yeah, when you have a Twinkie, you're like, wow, that takes you back. Whatever that foam cake is, it's awesome, especially it with milk.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Like a sponge cake. Sponge cake, that's what I'm looking for. Yeah. Not foam cake. Whatever it is, Twinkies are awesome. The straight up cupcake with the white on the top, because there are a lot of different cupcakes. But we're also talking about ones you can get at the gas station or at the grocery store,
Starting point is 00:32:10 right? Yeah. Not just like a fancy cupcake place. That cupcake is really solid, too. Yeah. Like the dark one with the white middle. I feel like that is solid. You wonder what I used to eat all the time was pecan twirls or swirls when I was a kid?
Starting point is 00:32:24 I remember those. I never liked those. Man, they were so good. I think I'd like them now more than I would then because pecan things then seem like something an old person would eat. No, the only swarrel thing I liked was the little Debbie swirl. The little logs and you bite into them it would be like a perfect little. Swiss cake. Oh, I know you're talking about there. Swiss rolls.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Yeah, Swiss roll, whatever that was good. Those are good. That was good. I like ding-dongs. Those were solid. Yeah. Yeah. You didn't like ding-dongs?
Starting point is 00:32:51 I don't know. But you know what I did like? He probably does. You just don't want to say like ding-dongs? The peanut butter, wafers, like covered in ch- Nutter butter. No. I never like peanut butter, so I can't jump in this conversation.
Starting point is 00:33:02 The wafers, they were chocolate and they had peanut butter. Oh my gosh. There was two sticks. Aren't those nutter-butters? Yes. Those are cookies. Nuddy bars. Nutty bars, yes.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Thank you. You're saying nutter butter and that is not right. You're right. Well, I was picturing it as a nutter. That was nutty. Thank you. I thought I was going. Nuddy, what are they called?
Starting point is 00:33:19 Nuddy bars. They were so good. I used to middle school. I used to get those with my lunch every single day. That's the number one spot. He's right. Not for you because it's peanut butter, but. Number one.
Starting point is 00:33:30 The Christmas trees. Yeah. The cake, Christmas tree cakes. I'm good. That sometimes they have them. Zebra. Yeah. So basically the same.
Starting point is 00:33:39 Zebra cake and Christmas tree cakes, except they were shaped differently. And Christmas tree cake had like some little sprinkles and stuff on it. But zebraebrer. Cakes were A plus. Man, they were really good. They come in two. I like Star Crunches when I was a kid. Oh, Star Crunches were another solid one
Starting point is 00:33:53 that we would get at lunch a lot. And I would eat seven oatmeal pies. Oh, Ommel pies. From Little Debbie. Ommel pies were legit. They were solid. They were always solid. So what's the Twinkie mystery flavor? I don't know what the mystery. You got to put your taste buds to the test. You have to decide what it is
Starting point is 00:34:09 when you eat it. There's a twist. The new Twinkies are available exclusively at Walmart. It's up to customers to figure out the mystery flavor. What if the mystery flavor was hilarious to like horse crap? Right. People wouldn't buy it. Like, oh God, dang. This sucks. If I'm going to go,
Starting point is 00:34:28 zebra cakes at one. But the zebra and the Christmas cakes are the same to me. I'm going to look at least up. Twinkies at two, with milk. Ding-dongs at three. With milk. I don't need milk with ding-dongs. All of these are with milk.
Starting point is 00:34:45 I mean, they are all good with milk or a Diet Coke. I had a lot of marshmallow pies. Those were really good. I don't know what that is. Now they would be called. Moon pies? Yeah, Moon pies was the bigger, fancier individual ones. They put little marshmallow pies like so.
Starting point is 00:35:01 And I'm going to go marshmallow pies from a little Debbie at four of my little to Debbie snack. Yeah. I'm with lunchbox on the nutty bar. Those are the best. I mean. Oh, I'll go Swiss roll. And then Star Crunch.
Starting point is 00:35:17 Those are my top three. Nothing, though, beats. If it's like what's your favorite dessert, I think mine is pivoted. Cheesecake was always my favorite. Love cheesecake. Still do love cheesecake. Oh, boy, what are you going with now?
Starting point is 00:35:27 Love it. My favorite thing, love cheesecake, but it's not my favorite favorite anymore. Huh. Oh, yours is going to be cookies. What could it be? Chocolate chip cookies with milk. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:36 If they're warm, that's dynamite. It's sea salt on top. I don't even need them warm. I'll take them. Chips Ahoy. Let's go. Soft or hard? Well, you can dip in the milk.
Starting point is 00:35:51 There's a major difference. It's got to be soft. It's got to be hard. If you're going to have to pick, I'm hard. I'm all about soft. See, I'm hard. That's it. Lunchbox is soft.
Starting point is 00:36:05 I'm hard. And we have, you know, we're just different. We are different. But Chiffs Ahoy, that's the original. I like kind of crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle. Hmm. You know what else I like? I like those cookies.
Starting point is 00:36:18 I think they were kebler and they were like chocolate and there were circles but they had like little, like little flower. The trees. I thought they're in the shape of an elf. Well, they do those elf as well, but they would come in like a pack, you know how. A sleeve. E.L. Fudge. Yeah, I thought that that was a human. It was a flower.
Starting point is 00:36:39 You know what I like? No, it's a circle. It's a circle. The circus ones. Well, I like the animal crackers, but the cookies that came in a bag and some were like pink. God, I don't fudger's so good. With sprinkles on it. Some were white with sprinkles on it.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Then they had like chocolate ones in there. I don't know about the chocolate. I like the pink ones though. Pink and white. I haven't even thought about those. Those are awesome. I know, but some stuff have we. Those are just frosted animal crackers, right?
Starting point is 00:37:05 I don't know. Sprinkles on top. But that's one that I used to, I thought that I loved. Then my kids got them not too long ago. And I was like, oh, I can't wait to have some. and I went and ate them and I was like, these are not as good as I remember.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Animal cookies frosted. There's a version of that. Man, those were so legit. You know what else I like? But only up to a point. I like those really crappy cookies that you got to like Walmart. They're like sugar kind of cookies
Starting point is 00:37:33 with icing. Oh, yeah. Are they at the grocery store? Yes. Those are the best. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. And I don't want all.
Starting point is 00:37:41 I don't need all of them. but I like to have like a few of them and I love them. They can't like toll how, um, what are they? No, no, no, no, I know. They're just all made a certain way. Like they're like called like, they're soft. And they can be like, what is the name? Because they are.
Starting point is 00:37:55 They're so good. Frosted sugar cookie, but soft. Like soft and like made 10 million at a time and cheaply. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Like on Fourth of July, sometimes they have red, white, and blue. But most of the time, they're pink. Yeah, I don't understand that.
Starting point is 00:38:12 white. They're so good. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I'm looking at them now. With milk. I don't like milk for those. How do they make animal cookies? Just the plain cracker. Why are they so good? What do you mean playing cracker? They're not a cracker. They're a cookie, but they say crackers. What? It's a cookie, but they say crackers.
Starting point is 00:38:32 I think because back in the 1910s, that was called a cookie was a cracker. They just kept the name of it. Oh. Animal crackers are cookies. But how are they so good? They are just plain. It's sort of like the Girl Scouts shortbread. I demolish those.
Starting point is 00:38:49 I like shortbread. I like... It's like, let's see show cream. I like thin mince the best, though. No. That or the kind of, they're kind of like Keebler-E-L-Fudge ones that they make. They're like circles and they have the chocolate on them as well.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Was coconut? Oh, yeah. Those are... Those are... Somoos. Those are the... Oh, Samoa's, yeah. What's the O-C-dosey one called?
Starting point is 00:39:11 I don't know. I don't have the O-C-d-D-C. Oh, C. No, I'm not saying it right. Docee doze? That's it. But I don't know what they are. You got to tell them the...
Starting point is 00:39:21 Dosey does. Yeah, I don't like docy do's because there's... Oh, those are the peanut butter on them. Those are the best. But I like the kind with like chocolate that are like those E.L Fudge. Let's see. Let's see. I'm going to pull up right now.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Okay, so thin mints A plus. Samoas are the coconut kind. Those are fine. I can have a couple of those. I don't know what a tag along is. Dosey dough pass. or ta what tag along looks chocolate it's it's
Starting point is 00:39:51 well sometimes some crispy cookies layer with peanut butter on it in a chocolate coating I'm passing on that those are all right but the peanut butter with the crackers on top those are the best but the best is shortbread number one two is doce doze three is Samoa's I can't put shortbread at one even though I really like them
Starting point is 00:40:08 how can you not I mean that's solid that makes me feel like I'm old because I'm like how do you just like the plain one but it is dynamite. Have you had a Girl Scout Smoor? I've never had one of those. No, that's probably disgusting. Or an adventureful?
Starting point is 00:40:22 No, that looks gross. Is that their new gluten-free one? I had the lemon-ups. Not good? No. Every time we go to Starbucks, Eddie orders a coffee cake. And I'm like, I hate coffee. Coffee cake's good, though.
Starting point is 00:40:34 But I got one this time. It's so good. Well, the thing is, and as he's told me a couple of times, coffee cake is not to taste like coffee. It's to go with your coffee. Yeah. And it was really good. And I was like, who knew?
Starting point is 00:40:44 And he goes, well, you should have. I told you five times. Yeah. I know that's what a coffee cake was. And I think most people, they used to dip it in their coffee. That's why they call it coffee cake. Yeah, they'd have it with their coffee, yeah. Which is weird.
Starting point is 00:40:56 And my dad doesn't drink coffee, but whenever we get donuts, he'd get coffee just to dip his donuts in the coffee. Ugh. So he doesn't like coffee, but he likes to dip stuff in the coffee? Yeah. Just donuts. That would be like me hitting peanut butter, but dipping my stuff in peanut butter. I hate peanut butter.
Starting point is 00:41:10 That was weird to me. I still don't ever see him drink a cup of coffee. but when we get donuts, he's orders a coffee and dips them. Dang. I eats their own, man. A woman is, let's see, she ordered an air fryer on Amazon, and she opened the box. There was a live lizard in there instead.
Starting point is 00:41:25 Just a lizard? No air fryer. A woman was left with a hair-raising package on her doorstep, according to the mirror. After the air fryer, she ordered on Amazon turned out to be a lizard in a box. Pretty big lizard. She showed pictures of it on Twitter. Dang.
Starting point is 00:41:42 That's a big. lizard. That's not one you just let go, huh? It's not one that just happens to crawl in the box. That's like somebody put a lizard in there. Dang, that's big. I have all these boards still. I know we mailed one off as a prize. These breakfast boards that we ordered. Oh yeah, the breakfast trays or TV trays, whatever you call them. Hey, Ray, hit me with voicemail number one. Morning studio. I have a scam alert. So people are posting fake news stories about missing kids and animals and what happens is more and more people share the post the scammer then edits their
Starting point is 00:42:20 original posts to something different with a link to get you to interpersonal information and then that edited version updates to every post that people shared people just think they're doing something good and all of a sudden these stupid scammers are taking advantage of you that's pretty good there's almost no way to check that Yeah, and they pull your heartstrings by missing child. And you click it and all of a sudden, you know what's missing? Your money. Or your Twitter account.
Starting point is 00:42:50 Or you still don't have it, huh? Banner responded to me. Twitter didn't even... They didn't even email me back. I'm hoping you can give him a call. Me? Ray, you all right, buddy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:01 You sick? No. I just needed some water. Did he sneeze or cough? He coughed. Oh. Well, get some of that, buddy. I've needed some here, too.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Maybe I want to drink water. Oh, I need to drink some water. All right, we're done. Now I'm hungry because we keep talking about that. Thank you all. There is an episode of 25 whistles up where we talk to Steve Young for an hour. I think he's really good. I had a really good time doing it.
Starting point is 00:43:27 We were with him in California. Steve Young, the Hall of Fame quarterback. Other than that, Morgan's got a new podcast out today. You guys aren't doing anything today, lunch? No, no sore losers today. And then, Amy, you have your middle thing? For the fifth thing. Yeah, my fifth thing's up today.
Starting point is 00:43:45 Yeah. Therapy Cat and I, therapy cat and I, we have a listener email where we were talking about just taking solo dates, like, you know, maybe even just to a coffee shop for 30 minutes. But a listener, she shared her story about just going to visit friends in, like, New Zealand or something and staying there. And it was like her eat, pray love moment. And I'm like, do you ever hear from that listener you met at the airport? They were like, messages back if we didn't die. Susie. Susie.
Starting point is 00:44:11 No. Has she called in? I told her she was only supposed to be gone for a week. That was a while ago. And where was she going? Greece. Let me Google Susie and Greece. No, she's from California.
Starting point is 00:44:24 I think she, maybe she listened to us in Bakersfieldish area or something. Going to see a dude. Going to see a dude. Or friends. No, no, no, going to meet girlfriends. She had not met in person only online. Yeah. So when I met her in the Atlanta airport.
Starting point is 00:44:38 But, I mean, speaking of Susie and like the listener that emailed me, it's like, you can't just like pick up and leave your life. I know that much. But it's like I don't even pick up and do anything really. Like I need to be more intentional about more adventure or something. I think you're okay. No, really don't have any adventure. I don't do anything.
Starting point is 00:44:59 You have a lot of adventure. You just don't consider it adventure because you do it all the time. Imagine this. You come on, you talk to millions of people every day. No, no. That's work. I'm saying for my personal, my, I don't know. It's hard to explain.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Like there's a waterfall like 40 minutes away. But again, you're only assigning what adventure you see on TV and physical outside adventure. What about you going on dates with dude you mean on that? That's a freaking adventure. Yeah, I know. I've been talking about the listener, this is a real life story. She went and did this thing for herself. She's also young and like we didn't have a career that she had to worry about like you do.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Yeah, I know. The circumstances are different. So I can't do that. But what is my version of that and what can I do for myself? Like, for example, there's this waterfall that's like 40 minutes away. We've lived here for years and years and years and years. And I've never gone to the waterfall. Like, I need to just go.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Do that for me too. Yeah, why don't you go? No, you've been? No, no, no, I haven't been to that dang waterfall either. And I say the same thing. Uh-oh, guys, should we all go to the waterfall together? You guys go do it for me and let me know how it was. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:46:02 I've talked about going to the waterfalls. I've asked for recommendations, like, for people like, oh, what's the best waterfalls around? You know what I mean? Like I'm, I'm going to take the family. Never go. Waterfalls. Why guys are you obsessed with waterfalls?
Starting point is 00:46:14 Well, it's just hikes in nature. It's incentive for the kids to hike to see a waterfall. Yeah, I get that. I'm good on that waterfall, though. 40 minutes? Yes. I got an even bigger one. My fingers.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Niagara. Have heard of it? I haven't seen that. I would love to go do that. Maybe I'll turn on some TLC. But it's like sometimes you have to. Don't go chasing waterfalls. You have to start small.
Starting point is 00:46:36 Like I can start by. Alone. Take in a 30 minute drive. I don't know any words. Whatever. I'm going to stop asking y'all to do things because... Only no melodies. Thank you. We'll see you guys tomorrow. Hawk, two of girls on tomorrow on the show.
Starting point is 00:46:52 Come on. I seen a rainbow yesterday, but too many storms are coming. Joined to leaving trace a knobby-e-e-a-da-a-da. Do you know that part? I mean, I don't have memorized, but... Listen up to yourself. The rest is up to you. Don't go chasing waterfalls. to the rivers and the lakes that you used to. I know that you're going to have it your way or nothing at all. Get a call from Rick Murray, but I think you're moving too fast.
Starting point is 00:47:20 I don't know why he's calling. Rick Murray calls you? Well, he is right now. Does he call you normally? He's like sales guy. If we're working on a deal. Dang, baller. The waterfall.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Get the deal on. All right, we're done. Thank you, everybody. See tomorrow. A win is a win. A win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep.
