His name is Todd Baldwin at Todd Kicks 10333 on Twitter. I wake up this morning and his tweet was just randomly, obviously I'm tagged in it. Always happy for somebody that makes it, but I really don't see the big deal over at Mr. Bobby Bones. I didn't do anything to this guy. I literally have done nothing but do a similar job and just found a way to,

spread the things that I do on to other platforms. As a matter of fact, I could not be any more encouraging to other radio people. And I try to teach them, like, what do you want to do? Like, I don't have a big talent. And hopefully, my inability to develop a super skill yet am able to write books, do stand-up comedy, do radio, do television. Like, hopefully that inspires you. but this is a real weird common thing in radio

where it's like everybody gets mad when somebody does something other professions is not people root for each other like in this business it's weird and I don't know this Todd Baldwin Todd Baldwin kicks 103 guys he wrote always happy to somebody that makes it

but I really don't see the big deal over Mr. Bobby Bones and I reply back hey I don't understand this tweet go ahead and continue to stop for me because I didn't want to jump I don't want to be irritated until I knew why this guy was acting like this and he tagged you knowing that you were to see it I'm like, how did you see it?

Right. And that's what I didn't search my name. I stopped doing that a long time ago. People want to say stuff about me and I don't see it. That's okay. If they have opinions, that's great. When they tag me, I'm like, you want me to see you don't like me. Like, what's wrong with you?

Okay. So he says, always happy to somebody that makes it, but I don't see the big deal over Mr. Bobby Bones. I say, hey, I don't understand this tweet. Go ahead and continue this thought for me. And he goes, nothing personal, really, just not a big fan. Again, it is personal because he tagged me. There was no reason for him to tweet this.

I don't know what he saw that reminded him of me. And then I write, then I respond once more and I stopped. I said, hey, I guess I just don't see the reason this was even tweeted. Are you thinking about me? Why did you have to tag me? Did you want me to see it? And so that was it. So anyway, I posted on my Instagram story.

Here's my point. If something doesn't make you feel good, just go away from it. If whatever we're doing on this show or whatever I'm doing in my career or whatever, if that doesn't make you feel good, just go away from it. You don't have to watch me. if anything i hope people and not just radio people i hope people that come from a background like i come from i'm a food stamp and a welfare kid didn't have parents for most of my life i hope people from my background can see that you can do big things regardless and it's just irritating and he's an older

guy sitting at a radio it doesn't matter i do get irritated at that still and i shouldn't i guess but that stuff feels personal because i don't know him i never affected him and he goes well it's not Yeah. Very personal for some reason. You tag me in it. And the questions that you said were like good. Like what, why? Like what, like, were you thinking of me? Like, I wonder what prompted that thought to even come up. And then say it, you know, to tag me? You want me to see that you don't like me for some reason. But bones, let me ask you this. So like. And he's not always happy for somebody that makes it. Right. No, I know. Why do you start off with that? Like it's like you're trying to say you're happy, but you're not. Why don't you just say, man, Bobby Bone sucks. And I know a lot of people better than he is. I would respect you more if you just said that.

Because at least that's a full forward-facing opinion. You don't, I don't have a good voice. Let's call a spade a spade here. I don't have a good voice. I don't speak eloquently at all. I am not the greatest radio broadcaster. You hired people very similar. Yeah.

I put together a show. of all misfits. We're all misfits. I don't do radio right. Why don't you just say I hate how Bobby Bones does his career. He's a real idiot. Just say that. I would respect that so much more. Todd Baldwin kicks 103. Let's, here's my example. Just don't do this. If you want to have an opinion, you never tag people. I would say don't tweet out anything negative. Like, just go back to, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Oh, Thumper. Golden rule. Let's go back to the Bible. Hey Todd Baldwin, you ever read the Bible? Do one to others?

Probably don't, though. Love your neighbor. He probably don't. Where is he? No, a lot of times when people have that. He's always on the Moo Crew morning show. You go, I'm not saying this is the case for him, but a lot of times when people are super negative or rude,

you go to their page and it's in their bio as a Bible verse. And I'm like, what? So we'll just use this as a learning tool. It will remind me too, don't be a douche for no reason. Or make sure the person can be in duch to see it. But really, it's just let's just be less of a douche. It's not necessary. I hope that he can learn from this and maybe take it down

and appreciate all the hard work that you've put into your career and that you're not just magically here. It's been years and years. And although he may not understand it, well, there's a lot of people that kind of do. Well, anyway, that triggered me a little bit. It triggered me too. He's annoying. It's just I did nothing to, if it were somebody that I had competed with and said something,

because I get really competitive, sure. But even then, like, I respect people that at this point in my life, I don't have, I have no beefs in this bit. People doing what we do, there aren't that many of them left. And I encourage and go, man, you can do 80 things. You just have to actually put the work in. Like, you have to go out and try things and be unsuccessful at it. So anyway.

And I would like to attract my annoying statement because that's also not kind. So I would just say... But at least you said it. You're just like, hey. I know, because it was annoying me, but I shouldn't say that he's annoying. I should just say it's frustrating that people just type that and put it out there. Anyway, let's talk about something nicer. Coronavirus.

Oh, perfect. I was just triggered right when this happened. I didn't even know we were going on right then. So we had a tornado last night, and we talked about it here on the show. And it was weird when I will... woke up and didn't know the tornado happened. Because a couple of people died. It hit a couple parts of Nashville.

And I woke up and Amy's like, are you okay? She's like, are you shelter? And she was telling me her story. And I was like, what has happened here? And so I'm scrolling through and I see the tornado hit last night at like one in the morning. And so we talk about it on the show here. What, you know, our day, our night, me not even knowing,

Eddie not knowing. We got a meteorologist on. And it's always kind of a weird deal to have to juggle a national show and talk about local things. And in the end, my tendency is just to be honest to talk about what we're thinking and what we're feeling. If I'm ever torn on, ooh, should we do this? I just go, you know what? Let me just go toward what's right. Because then even if it's wrong, I went toward what I felt was right. I would rather be wrong going with what I felt more so than be wrong going, dang, I wish I would have done that instead.

So, yeah, that happened. And I get a lot. I'm getting a lot of text. I'm getting calls, like even right now. Yeah, me too. Both of our phones are going off. Yeah. Oh, good. I know.

Eventually, I need to call my dad. I think he's called like five times during the show. Yeah, if someone's calling five times, you should probably call them back. I know. Like, we played songs. I know. I just, well, on the song break, then I forget,

because I am getting tons of text message too, so I'm trying to reply because everyone's being so thoughtful in checking in. And then I'm like, oh, shoot. You should call my dad back. but I already told my sister everything's fine so maybe she called him but he's in Brentwood

so he wasn't effective I don't think well it was uh and I drove in you could there was no because I live in the west part of Nashville I live in the west part of Nashville there was no anything you just drove in it was no issue this morning and Amy said that she couldn't even there was trouble getting here

well getting to work was fine I just tried to go through my neighborhood to go check on I wanted to go by your title boxing gym and I because it's like not that far at all so I just wanted to loop around that area too because I wanted to see, like, restaurants we go to. I had just seen pictures like at three in the morning where they look totally damaged,

and it's two blocks from my house, so I was freaking out. So I wanted to go see it. And then my husband was like, turn around, don't drive through that because there's power lines down and you legit could get electrocuted. And I was like, okay, I guess I'm not going to go do that. Turning around.

Scoop Steve got caught up in traffic. Yeah, like traffic at 4.30 in the morning because he was coming from over there too. Let's see. And all over the state, like we're talking about, about Nashville, but all over the state these hit. Right. And a lot of people all over the state have died as the tornado swept through all.

And again, some of this stuff, it's not even in our news because it happened so far away, but in the same state, and we're just now seeing it. So, you know, the mayor, the governor, all this stuff is happening. And we're going to do some stuff on the local level, but I do talk about it in this show that you'll hear today. And Robert Deaton came by who had to be a little bit weird for him to come in on tornado show. Yeah. A little rough.

But he did, and it was great. We talked about definitely some CMAs and country music stuff, but also, you know, he said, too, his phone didn't go off. His alarm didn't go off last night. Today is Super Tuesday. You're pumped, aren't you? I cannot get enough election polling data. Like, that is, I love it. I know a handful of people like you.

man, you guys love this day. I mean, I could tell you who is supposed to win each state that's up today. But because, listen, and I stayed up last night and watched them all back out from, well, Buttigieg backed out the day before. Amy Klobuchar backed out and she was with Joe Biden last night. Beto O'Rourke was, and so now it's starting to be real time. It's almost an election again. I love elections. I love it.

I love it. I love it. I love the strategy behind them. I love watching them. sit on something and push until they realize no more and do they back out or they double down? It was interesting to Trump, keep doubling down. I just learned so much about what America

thinks when I watch people run for office. Not even where they land on the right or left side, but how they like to be spoken to. It's just a sociology experiment that I cannot get enough of. And to watch candidates go from aggressive to their cameras like, oh, we should just scale bad with. We should be a little more calm. And then you noticeably see them come out and like, well, today, though, I just feel like the best.

And you're like, you just told you to do that. Just be yourself. It's so interesting to me. So, and then the Michael Bloomberg stuff, who, I don't know, Michael Bloomberg from New York, never met him, never voted for him. Not going to vote for him. But it's interesting to me that people are hating on the fact that he's spending all his own money that he made for himself. And he can spend it on whatever he wants. And he's not breaking any rule.

What are they hating? he spent $100 million on ads. On advertisements. The guy is a self-made guy. Yeah. Yeah, he's super rich and I'll never understand what it's like to be a billionaire. But he's a self-made guy and I'm always

I always think it's funny when people hate on rich people that made their own money because I'm like you would do the same thing. Like you would do this if you had the ability. If I could, I'd have 10 airplanes like Michael Bloomberg. Like I would. And Michael Bloomberg is like, I donate all my profits to charity and I think I should be taxed more

and he spends his own money that he made himself and it was within all the rules of what we have in campaign finance. Anyway, I would do this for days. And I'm not a Michael Bloomberg fan at all. We run commercials apparently in some of our markets for him because he bought a bunch of spots everywhere. I have nothing to do with it. I would prefer they not run political advertising

for anyone on our show. We don't talk about politics in where this side or that side. We don't because I feel that that is not what people are looking for us to do. Like if they want that, they can go somewhere else. Absolutely. If they want a break from that, they come to us. Yeah, or if they just want to hang out with their friends.

They feel comfortable. You should feel comfortable here. You can be annoyed with us with our personalities. I think if you have any friend at all, you get annoyed with our personalities. Sure. I mean, even Eddie, who is just the nicest, most fun guy. I love him.

What? Sometimes we're just together so much. that like yesterday because what you love about someone ends up also being what is annoying about them too my therapist tells me this too about relationships she goes the things you find the most quirky and attractive and fun at first are the things you're going to be annoyed by later and like it's you having to gauge a balance and figure that out and but with eddie he's just a go with the flow guy like he's there he's happy he's just going what hey man what do and i'm up for it just wonderful life is is a peach.

Always. What did I do? Always. Well, we talk about playing basketball later and I'm so competitive yesterday and he's like, oh man,

that shucks. I guess they won. Crab. Oh, man, they won all three. Oh, man. And I'm like, what are you talking about?

Come on! But he's the same person and it's me going, I love it 99% of the time, but I also get annoyed at that one. Interesting. You know?

Yeah. It's interesting what your therapist said. I mean, because, I mean, yeah, I have people like that in my life too. Like, that's what I love about them, but it's like, oh.

Like, I would assume they're the same thing for me. For sure. Like with you, it's like the lateness. You get annoyed by lateness and laziness and whatever. I mean, that kind of makes sense. Like, I get that. It doesn't at first, though. It gets annoyed when we're lazy and we don't want to work.

It doesn't at first, though, because it's like, that's just not how I live my life. But then you look at it like, no, no, no, this is definitely the way to live life. I would assume that a big annoying part of me is I have an extremely, type A personality. And most of the time, that's pretty good. Because I know what I want. I go. I try to get it. And if I'm wrong, I readjust and go out of it again. But I would assume sometimes it's a little too much type A.

And you're like, you don't have to always go after what you want and think what you're doing is right. And you guys can tell me I'm wrong, but I bet you don't. No. It's not our style. No, because, but you know what? We probably should. I think you would appreciate it. Not in a rude way, but if like we're feeling a certain way, I know that you, you, we should

communicate so it doesn't build up. Right. That's true too. So I can fire you? Well, my thing is, if I'm going to say something, I know it's going to be like a long conversation. I'm not going to fire. Right. I'm not, no. I'm just kidding. Wait, what, Eddie? It's going to be a what? I feel like if I say anything to Bones, it's going to

be like a 30 minute. No, he doesn't have 30 minutes. So you're crazy. It's like, do I want to open that up? It's not, trust me. I've opened stuff up before. It's not going to take 30 minutes. It didn't take a few minutes, Eddie. I respect, though, consistency. I know Eddie is a type B loving.

I wonder what's your diagram. What do you call that thing? Diagram. Inneagram. Yeah. What's your diaphragm number? I wonder what your enneagram is. Have you taken that long version? No, I took a free one online.

Did it say you were a seven? No, nine maybe? What's a nine? Peace maker is that? Oh yeah, that would definitely be you. Nine makes sense, yes. That's what the free version said. Yeah, okay.

I mean, I haven't paid for any of them. Yeah, there's a lot. Who knows, man. But there were a lot of questions in that thing where I was just like, yeah, a little bit of that, a little bit of that. Undecided, you click all of them. They all look good. You click that one.

Like, it depends. Like, and I'm an eight challenger or an achiever. They're so close. But, like, eight. And I'm not a big diaphragm person. Anyagram. Whatever. But I do see some stuff in it.

But we matched. Like, I did, Caitlin did hers. I did mine. And R2 go together because she is a two, which is the helper. Like, she will break herself and have to help somebody. And then forget about her own. self where I am just like let's get crap done I'm here let's go um but again the things we love about people just in general are the things we often get annoyed by too like I love that Amy just

says and doesn't stop and she just does her deal and then but sometimes I'm like man you just won't stop doing your deal and saying stuff but again same with all of us you're with somebody so much that ends up being yeah um lots of text about the tornadoes again we're good we're all here Box is fine. Come on. Win. Love you. What's happening, everybody? Welcome to Tuesday's show. Morning studio. Morning. Let's see what's happening with everybody's lives.

And what's the haps? Hey, what's the hats? So I was at home yesterday. And it was in the afternoon in my bedroom. And I'm laying on the bed walking on my computer. And what I think I hear is Mike D come in my house because we're doing a podcast later. And I hear my TV come on. And it is just screaming loud.

I mean, it is, and it's CNN. And I can hear the reporter just screaming the news and getting louder. And I'm like, what is Mike D doing? And I'm like in that phase where I'm almost asleep and working, but I'm like starting to nod off. But this TV keeps getting louder and louder. And I'm like, I don't know what's happening to Mike. So I walk in the living room. What happened was my dog got the TV remote and loves to chew on it, bit the on button,

and then kept biting the volume up button. And it was just ripping through the walls the sound. And I walk in, affects him none. He just chewing away. I have two remotes now. For some reason, I have like four TV remotes. I don't know what they do, but two of them are completely chewed up. So I have to go back to what do I have, Uverse, Exfinite,

and go, I need another remote. Because it's chewed from top to bottom. Like he's, because he just chills at the house all the time now. And so he choose TV remotes. And he probably has toys, huh? Like, that he can chew on, but he chooses the remote. Oh, he has 100 toys and choose the remotes. He pooped all over the carpet once.

I think he gets sick. And it was everywhere in the kitchen. So I had to take the carpet and get it cleaned. We have a place here called Zero Res that cleans the carpets. But whenever I was pulling the carpet out from me at the table, my table broke, which has been, it's been kind of a disastrous few days for me and the old dog. But yeah, I thought it was Mike D just blaring CNN, like bumping CNN.

It was my dog chewing on a remote. Hey! Hey, what's the hat? Amy, what's happening with you? So I went and did some work with Home Street Home, which is an organization here that, like, they, the guy that founded it was homeless for five years. So he knows a lot of the homeless rundown. In fact, he knows them all. He's like, I know them all.

And we went out with him. He goes out every Saturday morning to take them. supplies. And I kind of, I learned some different supplies that are good for people to collect or donate to shelters in their area or if you want to keep stuff in your car to hand out to them. There are a little bit different things I hadn't thought of. But really like food donations, sometimes people just like clear out their pantry or they'll go to the store and see that a can of beans is, you know, 10 for a dollar each or something. But the beans isn't really a complete meal for somebody. So try to look for like chunky soups or chili because that has like

protein inside of there or packs of tuna. And then 100% wool socks. Another thing where people sometimes buy like a big old bag of 10 socks that aren't that well made, that won't last somebody at all. But if you get one good pair, spend that money on one good pair of 100% wool socks, they can live in those socks for a long time. So it's just how you spend your money if you're looking to help out. And then like lip bomb because think of someone who has to live outside all the time and hygiene products and nail clippers. Stuff I just had not thought of. I could also use all that stuff.

I get lazy and sometimes I don't get... So, that's good, though. That's good to pass along. We'll put that up on our Facebook page, too. Hey! Hey, what's the hat? Eddie, what's going on with you? One of the cool things up doing the show with you guys is you guys always watch these

TV shows and I get ideas. And so the new one I've been watching is now Hunters. Oh, on Amazon. Because of Bobby, when you talked about it and my wife and I started watching it and we both really liked it a lot. I'm still loving it. My wife, however, she dropped out. She couldn't hang with...

I thought she said she was loving it a lot. We were. And then all of a sudden, like two episodes in, she's just like, I don't know if I can take this. I guess she's kind of like that watcher that gets too invested mentally about it. So she's like, I've been thinking about it all day. Oh, it's definitely. There's some sad stuff in it.

Bones. It's a good show, dude. Like really good. And the concept is just unbelievable. It's called Hunters. It's based on something that happened back in the seven. where they were trying to find Nazis in America. And so there's a whole team

trying to find and kill these Nazis. Now, the reality is it's not based on these exact people, just something like this that kind of happened. But you learn a lot about the Holocaust. And there's flashbacks to the Holocaust. Yeah. How many episodes have you watched? I've watched five maybe now.

I read the story about a middle school who. had a dance. And so they have a rule with their dance that if someone asks you to dance, you must dance with them. What do you think about that? Yeah, I mean, I guess they're trying to avoid someone

failing rejection, but I don't know that you should, you can be in a place where you have to force someone to dance with somebody. That's like, that's, because at the end of the day, that's what's happening. If someone's asking you and you're required to say yes, that could put somebody in an uncomfortable situation they don't want to be in. Well, this 11-year-old girl in the story, the whole story kind of centers around her, and she goes to the dance. She lives in Utah,

and she was pumped, and then she didn't want to dance with us one boy, and she wanted to say no, but they came over and said, no, we don't say no. So she had to dance with them. Now, how do you feel about that? Well, I know... I mean, rejection is...

That we get into participation, trophies, and ribbons and all that, you know, all that. For me, it's, I grow up thinking that if we're going to school to teach kids how to prepare themselves for what happens later in life, a lot of that is it doesn't always go your way. At some point in your lives, you're going to be hit in the face with the harsh reality of in life, there is rejection, there is not finishing first, there is trying to grow from that and learn from that. And I don't see rejection as a bad thing. I see it as a place that you can grow and you can get better. So it's a fine line for people to walk

Because you don't want kids to feel ostracize If nobody will dance with them But you also don't want everybody getting everything Because there's no life lesson in there And isn't that what school is Learning life lessons to prepare you for when you're not in school? So it's hard for me to criticize people When they want to make kids feel warm and welcome

But the culture of everybody wins Everybody gets a ribbon, everybody gets a dance That's not how life is At what point do we say Okay now we're going to teach you for what happens in real life. Is it eighth grade? Is it 10th grade?

I don't know when that point is. I don't like it. Maybe the rule is you come to the dance with a partner. I don't know. But I don't like this. I don't either. But it's hard for me to hate on somebody

who's trying to make kids feel good about themselves with other kids. I hate participation. Can't even say the word. I'm so disgusted by it. They only come out of my mouth right. But that's not other kids feeling bad because of other kids.

That's just, well, you didn't win, but you get a trophy. I don't love that. But I think that's different than this. Yeah. Do you remember asking a girl to dance and getting turned down? That's all I remember. Right. What do you mean, do I remember?

It was a part of life. Dude, I was 22 and that was happening. You're acting like that was only in sixth grade. Last year. It was five years ago. That's what formed Bobby's amazing personality. It made the one that said yes, like better. Like, yes, somebody finally said yes to dance.

And there's a lot to working up the nerve to ask someone because you didn't know. the working up the nerve to talk to a boss in an interview, working up, all of these are life skills that you learn. Now, at first grade, do you need those life skills? Probably not. But I think we do need to somehow start determining when school is teaching you for later on life and when school is fuzzy-wuzzy.

Kindergarten first grade, probably fuzzy-wuzzy. Maybe second grade, we start doing little things. We make kids feel good around other kids. But I'm not ribbon and trophy guy if you don't deserve it. Because then you get all butt hurt later on when you don't deserve it and you don't get it. That's not real life.

So, hard to hate on people to make kids feel good. But I think this is a little too far, probably 11 years old. Mm-hmm. Good program, kids. Amy, your thoughts? Yeah, no, I agree with you. You, Eddie? No, I'm all about it.

Like, you're at participation ribbons, get rid of them, especially at 11. You can see, your oldest son is? He's 12. Now, would you want him to go to a dance? they said anybody you asked, they have to dance with you. No, I want him to know that feeling that I experienced. Just like, oh, I really want to ask that girl, but she could say no. And be ready for that.

And then if she says yes, it's like, yes. Yeah. I did it. Oh, yes. That only happened to my last girlfriend. First one is say yes. You're ridiculous. Bobby Bone Show.

Big three stories. Let's go over to our producer, Ramundo. Raymundo, what you got over there? The sheriff in L.A. said eight of his deputies were discovered to have taken photos of the wreck to the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and others. But he did say they didn't break any rules because they're allowed to take cell phone pictures. In Wyoming, at least three people died. Dozens were injured in a hundred vehicle pile up on an icy interstate.

And finally, the NBA is taking action with coronavirus. They're telling players to do fist bumps over high fives and avoid taking items such as pens, balls, and jerseys to autograph from the fans. You know, sometimes you get these fishing emails where they're like, click the link and they end up stealing all your money. Or they're like, did you order a package from UPS? And they steal all your money? Or they're like, is this you on Facebook? And they steal all your money.

It's all these ways that they steal all our money. And we go, man, that would stink to fall for that. We always think we're too smart to fall for that. But this girl from Shark Tank, Barbara Corcoran, who's one of the sharks, multimillionaire. She's in real estate big time. She is known as the New York City real estate queen. She has been fished for $400,000.

Oh my goodness. Because, and I wonder too, like, how does somebody so smart fall for something like this? It's a numbers game. They'll send out thousands of these emails going, this is a situation, we need money. Well, the situation that got to her was that they needed renovations on her place. Just randomly she got it. And they thought, well, it's her place. She's real estate.

They paid $38,000. She explains, I lost $38,000 as a result of a fake email chain sent to my car. company. It was an invoice supposedly sent by my assistant to my bookkeeper approving the payment for a renovation. There was no reason to be suspicious as I invest a lot in real estate. So she got fished for almost $400,000. That's crazy. You know, also speaking of crazy, I watch these commercials. This guy who's going to walk over the live volcano, Nick Willenda. And there's a high wire and they say it's as long as walk ever. And the volcanoes got like flames and fire. coming out of it. Yes.

Well, it's tomorrow night on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern. And so it's an 1,800 foot walk across a Messiah volcano. It's the longest and highest high wire walk ever attempted. And it's interesting, but he has a harness on. Does that make it less interesting? And don't be mad at me for saying this, that there's no chance he can die. Because I think it makes it less interesting. So he falls, this harness catches him.

So he won't go in the lava. Right. Ever. Isn't the reason you walk over the lava that you could fall into the lava? Yeah. I don't want them to fall in the lava. No, zero percent of me. But I want to be, I want to be entertained by the thoughts that this guy's doing something so daredevil that it's going to be. When back in the day, before I was even born, but I watched the specials of evil canebel jumping over craft.

Yes. He didn't have a harness on. What happened to him? He would jump over the Grand Canyon. No, I know, but is he alive? No, he died. He died doing a stunt. One of the crashes.

but he lived a long time. Right, but we wanted... I mean, he died doing it though. I know, but I would rather people say, like those people that went across Times Square, like not too long, like a year ago, last summer maybe, because I remember watching it on TV and all in suspense. But then I realized they were harnessed,

but they were getting all this praise for being the first people would ever do something. But they didn't fall, so that's cool. They did it without falling. If I was harnessed... But they were harnessed. I'll try it. You would go over the volcano?

Why not? I'm harnessed. That would still be so scary. I'm harness. But you're not going to die, Amy. You know you're not going to die. My point is if it's so dangerous, I'm tuning in for the danger. I mean, there could be the possibility that the harness breaks.

Now we're talking. Okay. I mean, just thinking it that way. By the way, evil can evil died of respiratory disease. Oh, it wasn't a crash. He had a lot of injuries, but yeah, died of respiratory disease. So that's going to happen. The Nick Willenda, but he has a harness.

I might still tune in. I don't know. But that's also the future of television on network is live events where if you don't watch it, you just miss it. Sure, you can catch up. But if you don't watch the Nick Willenda, you're not going to go back and watch it. Like, it's a live event.

It's like a sporting event. For the most part, if you don't catch a football game, you're really not going to go back and watch every play. You may watch some of it, and you may be so diehard, but that's where network television, live TV is going, is to live event television. Even like American Idol, what we're doing is

more live shows. Like we're almost getting into Hollywood week and live. But this year it's so many more live shows earlier because that's what people

want. Especially to watch them live and get ratings. I give you one other story I found interesting this morning. This guy here's a squirrel

in his attic and it's like what's happening with all these squirrels? And then realizes it's a dude who's squatting in his attic

living up there and so he goes up realizes it's a dude and has a gun on him because it's a homeless guy and he's like you do not live up here and he calls 911

as he's got the gun on the guy. Oklahoma City 911. What's your emergency? Yeah, I've got a man, a stranger in my house. Came into the attic. Camped out overnight. I need somebody here immediately. I have a gun on him right now. Grab your bag. We're going down the stairs. You put the gun down? No, I'm walking him down the stairway. Turn left here. Isn't that crazy? All that's crazy. The fact that you walk up thinking it's going to be squirrels and you see a human. I know. Because it's dark. Imagine you got your flashlight looking for squirrels and your flashlight hits the eyes of another human.

Oh, man. Like, that is creepy. That would freak me out. Mm-hmm. I would scream and run. So, but he got him out. The news report said it was a transit. Even if you had a gun?

You're going to see a lot of headlines about the coronavirus, and I've talked about it a lot. And the reason is, one, they don't know the final play on this thing.

They don't know how bad it's going to get. They don't know really what it will do to everyone. They don't know how fast it's spreading. And because they don't know it's a bigger headline. Also, if you get it, you die more than you if you get the flu. But if you're in good health, you're mostly going to be okay, they're saying. But they just don't know. So they're having to make a lot of precautions.

Olympics, NCAA tournament, a lot of these gatherings, amazing race. Amy told us yesterday, they canceled the show. Postponent, yeah. And it's all because of what might happen. Okay. So that being said, even your church is doing that. But they, our pastor, I thought you would like this, he even suggested, let's just dab, let's just dab with people. We don't need to shake hands. We don't need to do anything. But that also, too,

if it comes to this, which he doesn't think it will, but that they will cancel church, just so people feel safe and they don't have to gather together. But I was like, what? This is a conversation at church right now? I mean, they've shut down, travel to not just China. They don't want you going to Italy or South Korea because the outbreaks are so bad there.

So again, right now, nothing for us to get worried about. Right. But to watch, yes. And I think his whole point, too, and I think this is a good way to look at it, and something you're a fan of Bobby is to be proactive, not reactive, and have things in place so that you can respond correctly instead of just frantically react.

Shit. Getting a lot of people asking if we're okay here in Nashville, the tornado hit here last night. And I got to be honest, it was 12.30 or so. And I was asleep whenever I guess it started to, come through town where we are. I got a message last night and Amy sent me a text and was like, hey, are you taking shelter?

Again, I didn't see any of it. I don't even leave my phone on vibrate. It just goes straight to silent. And then I catch up on my text in the morning. So I see that and I'm like, what happened? So I wake up at like 3.30 or so and I'm texting back and forth with Amy. And then I start to look at all the news stories. And it's kind of a weird balance for us because, you know,

we're doing a national show where a lot of you guys are hearing this show, over the country. And then we're sitting here and a tornado has just gone through. And it was actually near Amy's house as well. But I'll say this. Everybody's okay. Everybody here is okay. I can just getting a lot of calls and questions about it.

But a strong tornado rifts through the Nashville metro area. I think they said six people have died so far. News Channel 5 has a story. Parts of downtown Nashville took a direct hit. Tornado pass through a part of Nashville called Germantown. You know, Amy was driving in this morning, kind of looking around her house, and she said it's hard to actually drive through because power lines are down everywhere. So, again, we appreciate everybody reaching out and going, hey, are you guys okay? And we are all okay.

Amy's okay. Hey, Ramundo, was it anywhere near you? No. It wasn't near me either. I'm on the other side of town. Did you hear anything? Well, so, yeah, I had just taken off, but my fiancé said it sounded like the windows we're going to break. I mean, because we're right there next to that bluff.

Are you guys up high, though? We're up fourth floor. I saw that there was tornado activity far left of us and just went to bed. Did you see anything about it last night? I saw nothing, and I didn't even get an alert on my phone. I didn't get an alert either. Even when I woke up, there was nothing. Yeah.

Weird. But it didn't turn into a tornado until it was closer to downtown. So it went by me. Is that right? Yeah, it was wind, rain, and big hail. So Amazon has pulled more than one million fake and overpriced coronavirus items. Among the items were quickie cures for the virus. Oh, my goodness. Cures don't exist. So it's crazy that people

were putting them up there to sell. Meanwhile, hand sanitizer and surgical masks have shot up in price. And they say they have no room for price gouging, so they're going to cut that out too. But like a tin pack, a facemax, Masks typically about 40 bucks was going for $128. Nice.

I have a bunch of masks at the house. I could probably make some good money off that. Yeah, dude. And I bought a quickie cure. Right? Bottle of pills. You know, I bet you could go into one of these juice shops and make their own stuff. Yeah.

And they could market a smoothie. Perenthease Corona cure with things that they think could possibly help the symptom and sell a ton of them. Is that funny? Yeah. I can't believe people are buying a chronic here though from Amazon. All right,

what else say? Okay, so Judge Judy is coming to an end after 25 seasons. What is her net worth, Mike? Will you look that up for me because I bet you

she has so much money? I bet she's loaded. Forever she was the biggest talk show paid person in years and years and years. They were paying close to $100 million for her. But yeah, I don't know.

Oh, she earns $47 million a year. Ooh. That's what she earns a year. And Judge Judy ranks is one of the top-rated syndicated programs averaging roughly 9 million viewers a day. Not a week a day. Well, it's on in a lot of different places that running at a lot of different times.

She's worth about a half a billion dollars. Yeah, I've seen it during the day, late at night. And I think a lot of countries take it. Yeah. But that's a lot because we do on American, I don't have 8 to 9 million. It's crazy. And she's on over the world hitting that every day. That's great.

I like that show for a while. I don't watch it anymore. After a while, it's the same kind of lawsuits. So, but Judy. And she too can shoot all of our shows in like two months and then be done for the year. She says she's not tired. How old is she? Let's find out her age.

She said she's not tired. So she's got something called Judy Justice coming out next year. So. What's the difference? I don't know, but Judge Judy is coming to an end. Kind of crazy. Judith Susan Shinlin

Wow. Yeah, there you go. All right, what else? Well, and speaking of TV shows, I was never big into Lizzie McGuire. I think I was a little too old. I missed that. Morgan, were you?

Yeah, I love Lizzie McGuire. But I have a recent obsession with Hillary Duff. I follow her on Instagram. I love her show younger that she does. And I guess Disney Plus is bringing back Lizzie McGuire for a reboot and Hillary is kind of having some friction with them right now because she's now, it's her character, but at 30 years old. And so they want her to maintain in this Disney PG realm with her character and she just doesn't, she feels like that's doing a disservice

to everyone watching because it's all her fans have grown up with her and they should be with the content she thinks is relatable to 30 year olds. And so she was, she's asking for them to move it to Hulu so she can have a little more wiggle room. But. And I understand both sides. Like I get the Disney, they want to bring back this thing that appealed to kids. They still want it to appeal to young people. She's like, I would like it to appeal to older people. Like that show younger that she was on, for example.

Such a good show. And also, what I like about Hillary Duff now, if she has that song, Never Let You Go, which is the third-eye blind cover. Here you go. It's her and her husband. They stopped production of that show after like two episodes because they weren't, like, firmly set. in what they were doing.

So, all right, there you go. I'm Amy. That's my pile. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news. With producer Eddie. Tell me something good. So I've got an update on a story that I shared about a puppy that couldn't walk and it was friends with a pigeon that couldn't fly.

There are pictures of them just chilling together. After the photo went viral, a company called Walking Pets heard about it. And they made a wheelchair for this Chihuahua. And now the Chihuahua can walk. So what about the pigeon? They haven't talked about the pigeon. Oh, they didn't bring that back up? Yeah, they haven't talked.

But did they still cuddle? Maybe you can give them rides. Well, the founder of the company said they've gotten pretty good at making chairs for animals with special needs. They even have done ducks, rabbits, and chickens. Oh, so there's hope for the pigeon. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We hope that the puppy isn't too cool for the pigeon now. He's all rolling around.

He's like, I'll catch you later. I'm going to go out. What's the name of this place that built a wheelchair for the dog? It's called walking pets and they're out. of New Hampshire. All right, there you go. Shout out to them. That's what it's all about.

That was Tell Me Something Good. There we go. Come on, Bobby. We have a TV producer coming in to fill in for lunchboxes today. His name is Robert Deaton. He produces things like the CMA Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards. I have a lot of questions. What artists are cool?

What artists aren't? I wonder if he'll tell us what artists aren't. That'd be cool. He probably won't because then he probably will never get him again. But I don't know. We'll see. His name's Robert Deaton. He'll be in in just a little bit.

Over to Amy now with the Morning Corny. The Morning Corny! Did you hear about the two guys who stole a calendar? No, I did not. They each got six months. That was the Morning Corny. All right. Let a calendar in half.

Bobby Boom, come on. I went to bed about 8.30 or so last night, and then I wake up at the time of the normal. wake up around 3, 45 or 4 or so, and I see a text from Amy saying, are you taking shelter? I was like, what is she talking about? We had a tornado last night. I slept through it because it wasn't in my part of town. And then Amy texts me again at like four and it's like, hey, are you good?

And I was like, what did I miss? And so I get on. And last night, I guess after midnight or so. I mean, I know what happened now, but I guess it was around at midnight or so. Yeah, the sirens started going off. like the city blasted these sirens to tornado warning sirens. And both my husband's phone and mine had like an alert, like seek shelter or whatever it said. And I was so glad my husband was with us because my personality is like, it's fine.

Nothing's going to be wrong. Let's try to go back to sleep. But he was like, get the kids right now, get in the bathroom by the kitchen because there's no windows, the tiny little bathroom. So yeah, we got it. and we were in the bathroom probably 40 minutes. And yeah, our son was freaking out. I could hear the winds picking up, and it seemed really close.

And now I'm now waking up and seeing the pictures of just how close it was. I'm almost, it doesn't make sense to be scared after the fact, but I definitely am a little more, it's weird now because I wasn't as scared then, but my husband was tracking it on his phone. And I saw his demeanor change and he kind of snapped at our son.

And I even got mad at him. I'm like, don't yell at him. Like, he's scared. And that, he later told me it was at that moment. He realized it was hitting our neighborhood. And so I'm just thankful that we were okay. It's tragic for our neighborhood, though. I know a lot of people aren't, and it's heartbreaking.

Did it hit your actual neighborhood and your, your houses are? Yes. Like, well, the restaurants, one of our friends that lives a few blocks away, like their house got messed up, burger up. which we're at once every week, it's messed up. There's a tree on our street that's completely uprooted. Like, it's not like the tree just knocked over from a storm. It is a massive tree, and the roots are taken out of the ground, and it's over,

which is in the sidewalk, too. That's absurd to me. Like, that, I mean, it's obviously now I'm seeing how strong and powerful something like that could be, but it's just scary to think that that was going down right, right? in our house, well, right near us. I saw the news posting a graphic last night going, hey, there's some storm stuff way to the left of Nashville,

and they were going on over the Bachelor. And really, TV people watching TV, there's like one or two that get upset, and the news has to go, we're not going to stop showing the news. And it's just like, just show us the news. Don't worry about replying to the one or two people that are upset that you're not showing The Bachelor.

And so I'm watching this drama on Twitter, which is a little too much going, okay, well, and they go, hey, we're going to show The Bachelor at midnight tonight instead. Well, at midnight the tornado was hitting actual Nashville and so they were back on again.

Do we have a clip of the news station? This is Channel 5 news. They're out reporting and it actually hit the TV station, right where the TV station was. This is the tornado. It is hitting Channel 5 as we speak. Okay.

Right now, tornado on the ground. It is hitting Channel 5. It is hitting our TV station. at this time moving through our parking lines as it is now sliding through the air. So that was on the news last night. Again, I was oblivious. I just woke up to texts.

So I guess the sirens, I didn't know if the whole city could hear them. I didn't hear any sirens. But I don't hear anything. You're right. And I sleep with the TV on. I don't know. Maybe if it's because I'm right downtown. I mean, I hear concerts that are going on close by.

But there was no way you couldn't hear them. Some texts. How's everyone on the show last night? I'm not at work. this morning and listening to the show. A lot of people from around the country are saying they saw that Nashville had a tornado or two and asking how we are. We're all fine.

Yeah. We're all fine. Ramo and I were talking about it early this morning. Ramundo, you heard it in your place? Yeah, it was the winds and then some rain, but it took a turn and ended up then going towards the city. But it was right along the interstate where we are, but then it just veered. I mean, I was like half a mile.

And it's just wide open there. It could have done major damage. Yeah. Some of the businesses in our neighborhood, like, I'm just so thankful. It wasn't, it was one in the morning because they weren't open. Because they look, it's, the pictures are scary. The good and the bad is the businesses aren't open, so there aren't people there. But then people are asleep and they don't even know the tornado is coming.

Yes. Yeah. No, I mean, it's tragic. I think now there are a couple of people that died from this tornado. And again, if we, find out how we can share with you guys how to help. We will. It just happened last night, so it's a little quick as far as efforts.

So, but a lot of texts are coming in. Let's see. Everyone on the show's fine. Is everybody okay? Yes. Good morning. This is Chris from Fort Smith, Arkansas. I have a daughter.

He's a freshman at MTSU. Could you give an update? I don't think that it hit out there. Don't think so. Yeah. So what we're going to do on this show is we'll update you a couple times an hour. you know, we're juggling doing a show we live in Nashville where all the country music is that was hit by a tornado and also a radio show for the rest of the country that's hanging out and listening to want to have fun and do our normal show.

So it's a balance of that. All right, we want to bring in our guest host for today who has done it all. Just done hundreds of country music videos. Produces the CMA Awards. is producing the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. He is a board member of St. Jude. He is just all over the place. Robert Deaton, everybody.

Go sit over there. You're like part of us today. You're not in a guest chair. I know. It's incredible. How's it going? I'm hoping this is an audition so I can do this all the time.

You guys have so much fun. What happened near you last night with the tornado? Was it near you or no? Nothing. Nothing. I woke up. Did you know what happened last night? No, no.

I didn't either. So my wife called me, you know, she knew I was on my way here, and she called me. And at that time I knew, but, you know, it was like I woke up. I didn't hear a thing. I mean, I got up a couple of times last night and there was a couple of flashes, but I didn't think of anything of it. And I didn't hear sirens. And Amy said at her house, there were sirens all over the place.

And maybe that was just because where the tornado was hit. Maybe. I don't know. I don't know how the sirens work, but I was like, this is genius because it really did force us to pay attention and go into the bathroom. Was it crazy driving in today? It was not. Me either. I just wouldn't have known had Amy not message me going, Are you okay? And I'm like, did Caitlin dump me? Like that was my thought. Was like, did something happen with my girlfriend that I don't know about?

Yeah. I've literally never been in it. Maybe as a kid, there was a tornado warning or something, but I don't know. Maybe it was just a drill. I don't know. So I've never been in one. So I don't really understand exactly how tornadoes work. So I just assume if I was seeking shelter, that you were seeking shelter and we live 20 minutes apart. Where'd you grow up, Robert? I grew up in North Carolina. Did you guys have tornadoes there? No, not that I remember.

We were on the coast, so. No, I don't think so. Did you have hurricanes? Yeah. In Arkansas, we had tornadoes. Definitely hurricanes. So to me, we had a lot of tornado drills, and tornadoes would come, and it was just a thing. Like, tornadoes would come 34 times a year.

Yeah. And so you never, not a thing when it would hit, but you were under tornado warnings all the time. And so, anyway, I was wondering if you're going to get here this morning. Well, first of all, you think about, you know, praying for people and families and then you see all the destruction of the businesses and things. And you had destruction overhauled. Well, in my neighborhood, those businesses I live there. But my house is fine, thankfully. But I know others in my neighborhood or not.

Well, the first thing I thought was, I better get on the road, you know. Yeah. So I thought it would take me, I gave myself an hour to get here. It took me 26 minutes. Well, when Eddie was talking, too, because Eddie grew up in Texas and there aren't really tornadoes where you're from. And he's like, how does a tornado just hit part of something and then move on? But they do. They go, they'll just hop down and hop back up.

Or the bad ones hop down and stay down and then go back up. And you kind of, there were times growing up where it would hit a house, and the house next to it would be just fine. That's what I was referring to because you look at the pictures of the destruction. It's like there's a neighborhood, one house destroyed, everything else untouched. It just doesn't make sense. Yeah. We'll let you know when we find out how to help people. Robert's a big helper. You've been on the St. Jude's board now? I am.

So what does that mean if you're on the board of a, because we work with St. Jude a lot and super close, but we don't sit in business meetings? Well, I just got on the board, so I've only been to a couple of meetings. Okay. But, you know, when I do something, I get on a board like that, I always figure out, okay, what can I contribute? what is what's my area of expertise that I can contribute so obviously obviously since I'm entertainment that's what I'm trying to come up with ideas different ways of trying to raise money because you know this it's when you visit there and you start really doing a deep dive of what that place really is

and you know you think about things that you don't think about like for example you know they have a whole entire dentistry there for the kids you know I don't think I've ever seen the dentist and I've been there many times. Yeah. They do junior senior prom. Yeah. They do Halloween. They do I mean there's all these, you know, it's like some of these kids, for example, in the dentistry,

they can't leave. And so it takes a lot of money. And then for example, you know, you're a flu shot that you get. I don't know if you get a flu shot. I get one every week. I do. But, you know, they come up with that

season's flu shot there. Is that right? At St. Jude. So they're the ones that are having to try to figure out and guess based on what's happening, the trends with that virus. Exactly. Wow. Yeah. Yeah.

So they do so many different things and it's so important. And you go visit, you know, you spend time with those kids and, you know, they certainly don't deserve what they're going through. And when you get down there and then I got a call about two months later after my first visit and there asked me to be on the board. And it was completely an honor. to be able to serve on that board. So what I'm trying to do is come up with different ideas from an entertainment standpoint to get artists involved for whatever that is to raise more money.

Robert also produces, and we'll talk about CMA Awards for a second. I kind of like to have you share a story or two because you book everybody, like that's your show. I do. From the presenters to the music to what it looks like. Like you're running the CMA Awards. and can you when Justin Timberlake and Chris Stableton

performed together that's how many years ago is that? Four or four years ago probably So you're running that show that's your show How in the world do you make that pairing happen On your show? Well I had heard from Chris Stapleton That he was

That they were friends So and Chris was like You know how Chris is He was like Do you think maybe you would want You know Justin Timberl I'm like, yeah, are you kidding me? Yes, can we make that happen?

So, you know, Justin just does it come in and, you know, it's, you got to, it's like dealing with artists for me is like, you know, it's like trying to feed a squirrel, you know, out of your hand. And because you don't want to make big sudden big movements, you know, and scare them away. So that's kind of how I look at it. So we did a phone call with Justin. and he's like, so, you know, what do you think we should do? And I said, whatever you want. He was like, well, what time, you know, how much time do I have? And I was like, as much as you want.

How are those answers? You know, he's like, he started laughing. He's like, that's pretty good, you know. So, but no, we really got into it and started talking about the different songs. And, you know, it's funny. It was like when we did that whole thing in rehearsal, it was good. But you say that like it wasn't great. Like you say it was like it was good.

It was good. I mean, it was really good. And it was funny because Justin, we did the whole thing. We did the rehearsal. And Justin comes over to me as they're getting ready to leave. And he leans over and he whispers, he's like, don't worry about it. It'll be great tonight. I'll bring it.

We will bring it. And I'm like, great, great. That's awesome, man. I'll see you. You know, I got to get to the next artist. And we got to, you know, so I didn't even think about it. And then when it performed, when they performed, it was like it sucked the air out of the room for like an hour. I mean, it was like we couldn't.

It was great. But we also, it was like we went straight to commercial. And we came back and it was still, it was still in the room. Could you see Chris, because Chris Ableton at the time wasn't Chris Ableton. Like that was really his launching point to the public in general. Yeah. Could you see like his songs being downloaded as it was happening? because it was so instant.

I could see he was trending worldwide in three minutes, so on all the socials. So I was seeing all of that. And then people were texting me. And it's funny, like, for example, if you texted me during the show, most likely I would text you right back because I keep my phone with me.

Because you never know, like if a phone call comes through and I don't know who it is, like if it doesn't show up, I'm answering. It could be an artist. I don't know what it is. So I always have my phone with me just in case someone goes, which has happened on Billboard Music Awards where it's been like, hey, so-and-so is supposed to perform next

and they're not here yet. Oh, wow. Yeah, that's happened. Oh, gosh. Yeah. What do you do? Or we've been like 30 seconds from, you know, 30 seconds from, not necessarily much on CMA Awards,

but Billboard's has happened several times where it's like we're coming back and 30 seconds and that artist isn't in place. And so... They call your cell phone to tell you that? Like they can't get on your headset? Well, and they do set that on the headset too. But sometimes, but so I'm always watching.

So on that particular performance, I started, my phone started, people were texting me, especially in the audience, like with the record label going, we're blowing up right now. This is blowing up. Like, it's crazy what's happening with Chris Dapleton after, during the performance and after the performance. Just change what we do, even, like that performance. did. the Billboard Music Awards, is on the St. Jude board, and it says that you have created more than 500 music videos. Somewhere, yeah, something like that. That's how I got started. So I, look, my father was on-air talent in TV and radio when I grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina. So I was always around, I was always at TV station. And so I kind of, that was my world. All the other kids were out playing and I was in the TV studio.

And so the day after graduation, I moved to Nashville because I wanted to be in the music business somehow. Alabama. All summer long by Kid Rock. What about Save a Horse ride a cowboy? Yeah, I did that. And at the time, I needed to give a shout out to George Flanagan. He was my business partner, and he and I were, we did all that work together. So, yes, we did save a horse ride a cowboy, and we're in the news the next day. Because why?

Because we destroyed part of the bridge. There's a big pedestrian bridge in Nashville. And I just wonder, what was, you know, big and rich, big Kenny, John Rich, what were they like when they were blowing up? Because that was at that point of their career. Yes. Were they, as the kids would say now, extra? Yes, they were extra. It was crazy time all the time.

It was absolutely, I can't tell stories, but I mean, some maybe I could, but it was a crazy time. And I was doing all the music mafia. You remember they had the whole music mafia? Like Gretchen Wilson. Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy. Yeah. So we were doing all of those music videos. I remember one time, their manager, we were doing a project and I went to go meet with him and John Rich.

and 48 hours later, I had not been to bed, and we had been to L.A. and back. And, you know, I'm calling my wife. I'm like, we're going to L.A. It's a spur of the moment thing. And we had rooms, but we never got to the, I mean, literally was up 48 hours straight. So John Rich went as hard as the rumors say.

Yes, he went. Yes, exactly. And when you produced the Billboard Music Awards coming up, I know Garth Brooks is going to be a big part of it. And I know that's probably, because you're Nashville super country guy. Like, is that, did you get to call Garth and tell him he was getting this big award? I did.

I got to, yes, I got to call him. And what? Are you cool enough with Garth to just be like, hey, dude, what up? Yeah. Yeah, in fact, most of the time, you know, it's really interesting. For a long time, you know, I had not worked with Garth because he did the whole retirement thing. And I was like, you know, I love our genre of music.

And I'm a historian on all that. And I was like, God, that's the one thing that I hadn't done. I didn't get to work with Merle Haggard. I came really close to doing a music video for Merle Haggard, and he canceled the day before. So that was just always a bummer. But I wanted to work with Garth. And then over the past couple of years, you know, we've done a lot of TV together and gotten to be really good friends. And he asked me to help him work on the Die Bar music video, which I really don't do music videos anymore.

but when Garth calls you and asks for a favor, you do it. And so, yeah, in fact, now, you know, and management is cool with it, but they're like, hey, you know what, when you got something, just call him direct. He just soon talked to you direct. So, yeah, we'll text or call, and he'll call me back, and we just talk about stuff. And it's pretty cool. I mean, he is really, when he said, I mean, you can take his word to the bank. when he says he's going to do something,

you know, he is awesome. And he's a great person to work with. Robert Deaton is here, producer, fill in for lunchbox today. Did you put Brad and Kerry together for that big run on CMAs? I did. And what made you think that

these two superstars would work well together? Well, what happened was the year before Brad and Carrie, we did not have a host. And the network and the CMA at the time thought, well, we should do it again without a host. But the problem is without a host.

But the problem is without a host, there's nobody, I like the through line of someone that you've seen that takes you kind of through the show. And there's also, you want someone that's the focus, the brand, so that they can do promos and they can go to New York and they can be on Good Morning America. And, you know, whenever you saw Brad and Kerry together, you thought of the CMA Awards. And so at the time I had worked, I knew Brad, I mean, Brad's like Roger Miller. I mean, that's how I looked at him. He was our modern day Roger Miller, that clever, funny, great musician, incredible. He's an incredible human being. But I had also worked with Carrie.

Everybody was like, at the time, everybody was like, oh, Brad, great, but we don't know about Carrie. I don't like I do because I'd work with her on some things at the CMA Music Festival with copy. And I just, I knew she could do it. And so it took, at first, when I first came up with it, The idea, ABC was like, nah, you know what, let's just stay where we are, no host. We don't see that. And I waited three months, knowing I was going to go back. I just waited three months.

And how long was it run together? 11 years and then carried it 12. Which was last year. Which was last year. Crazy. It's time for the good news. With Amy. Tell me something good.

So the school bus driver went into like cardiac. arrest or had some sort of situation where he pulled the bus over unexpectedly and he was saying someone call 911 help me somebody call 911 well one of the middle schoolers on the bus eva she pulled out her phone called 911 she remained calm the entire time and she talked to the dispatcher and within four minutes EMT arrived to help the driver who's now recovering and very proud of her that's why all kids should have phones it definitely is a pro for having a phone and there are no cons yeah and but there are a lot of cons yeah yeah yeah I'm just kidding.

Yeah, and then it only took four minutes for them to get there too, which is pretty crazy. Yeah, first responders. Just to get anywhere. That's pretty quick. Yeah, so shout out to that kid. Shout out of the first responders. That's a good story. That's what it's all about.

That was Tell Me Something Good. Here we go. Come on, Bobby. Our guest host today is Robert Deaton, who produces CMA Awards, CMA Fest, Billboard Music Awards. Now, you live in Nashville, but you're going to L.A. You're just going to live there for basically two months? I do. Tomorrow.

To produce Billboard Music Awards. Saturday. Yeah, for two months. I'm in LA. It happens every year that way. What do you do? What's happening? So I just prep the show, get the show ready, and I do nothing but work.

But do you call people and be like, hey, Pink, hey, Billy Elish, it's me, Robert. Come do the show. Is that what you do? You know what, it's funny, the first year that I did the show, I was completely a fish out of water. And I realized also I didn't understand the music as good as I needed to. Because, for example, if I hear a country song and I know I got to do a performance on it, I can come up with an idea like really quick. And I realized that if I was going to be good at that job,

that I had to get my ears as trained for pop as I did for country. So what happens is right after the CMA Awards in, I switch over and start listening to Pop. He'll be like, I'll listen to the show in a while, man. I got to listen to Pop. I'm getting right for a billboard. So people will tell them when things happen instead of him listen. It's true.

It's like, for example, last year I was like, God, you know what I love? I told her to tell my wife, Susan, I said, you know what I love? It's like, I love that Duolipa record. And she's like, who is Duolipa? So, but yeah, but so what's happened is now that I've done it five years, now I have relationships, you know, like I do with the country artist.

And, you know, you got to do just like with the country artist, you have to build trust, you know, and now that I've done performances with them, performances with Ed Sharon, you know, my personal favorite is Celine, Dion, I mean, she's just like crazy, incredible talent and such a great person. So I got trust with her. So now when we do the CMA Award, I mean, the Billboard Music Awards, the first thing that she'll say is, what's your idea? What do you think we should do? You say Titanic every time?

Like, what if we get a boat and we put you on, oh, that's what I would say. Well, did you see the song? When we did the song for two years ago, we did the song from Titanic. Uh-huh. And I built this big, huge chandelier. do it again this year. Yeah, every year. It'll rate every year.

Just do that song. It's like it will rate. Robert has worked with a ton of country artists from award shows music videos. Robert, we're going to do a thing here. I'm going to give you the name of a country artist. You give me the first word that comes to your mind. Okay? Oh, goodness.

Because you've worked with them all. All right. Garth Brooks. Genius. Carrie Underwood. Amazing. Because she can do it all. Eric Church

Friend You and Eric close? Yes, we're close In fact, I don't even think about I never think about our people We're like, how's it working with someone That you're so close to And it's like, you know what?

He's an outlaw, he doesn't even care If he's on my shows or not I mean, you know, it's like I don't think of him in the sense Whenever think about Eric, I don't think about him in the sense of being an artist. I think about him first as a friend.

Do you and Eric Bondover for being from North Carolina? We do. And I spend a lot of time with his parents, and they are incredible, just amazing people. And I enjoy my time with them and the family. And Eric and I normally go to a couple of Tar Hill games a year. And the last two times they've been in the National Championship game, we've been. And I bring my sons, and we're with their parents, with Eric's parents.

And he is just an incredible, he is an incredible artist. and I have to remind myself when I'm with him that he is an artist. You know, you forget because we're talking about home in North Carolina and kids and Tar Hill basketball. And so I have to remind myself, wait, I'm with the chief, but I don't see the chief that often. I always see Eric. That's how you feel with me, right? You have to remind yourself that I'm also. I forget this guy's on TV all the time.

Dolly Parton. The best. What makes Dolly awesome? She's the best. It's, you know, she is one, they're not even talking about pop culture, but let's just talk about talent as far as a songwriter and a performer. She is the best.

I mean, I feel like that, you know, a lot of people, you know, look at Merle Haggard that way and George Jones and, you know, she is that. She is, and, you know, Vince Gill and I were talking, and we were having breakfast a year or two ago, and we were just talking about artists and Dolly came up. And, you know, for Vince, it's Dolly. Dolly's here and everybody else is below that. And because, and she is on such a pedestal.

And by the way, she's incredibly smart. Yeah, yeah, I love, she's super sharp. Super, super quick. Like, I had, you know, she was my host this year with Reba and Carrie. And she is just like, she's a comedy writer too. I mean, stuff that she was coming up with so quick and so much faster than any of us in the room could come. up with. It's so great to be able to know someone can do that heavy lifting. Let me ask you one other question. Luke comes. Does he have a shot entertainer of the year?

I think he does, yes. You know, the thing about Luke is a North Carolina boy. Okay, so we got that going on too. And the thing about with Luke is the thing that I figured out with Luke, and I love him dearly and his manager, Cappy, is one of my favorite human beings on the planet. but when Luke started first coming out I found myself in the car turning up his music whenever his songs are on the radio and I did it not I was not conscious about it

it was just like I heard something that I liked after a while I realized oh my goodness every single time I'm turning up the radio it's Luke Holmes and yeah I think he does his songs are incredible he's a great singer and the thing about it that I saw the first time. I went and saw him at the Ryman Auditorium. I was invited down to see him,

had really not spending time with him. This was two years ago. And what shocked me was what a superstar he is. Like what, like a performer, how he just takes up the entire stage. It's like, you know, sometimes you can't teach that. Like for example, Kenny Chesney, incredible. He can do a stadium and reach the last person, you know, the very last person in the very back row. he can reach that. And that's something that a lot of people can't do or you can't teach. Luke has that. He has that aura on stage where it's, you know,

he can walk around with a solo cup and just own it. You know, it's crazy. So he's got it all. And so, yes, I think he absolutely one day will win entertainer of the year. We're going to end with this. We've been here an hour. He done a great job, by the way. He's done a great job.

Robert's son is the drummer in King Calloway. Yes. And what do you tell your son whenever it's like, all right, you're going to go be in music? I've been working with a lot of musicians, artists. What advice do you give him? 11 years old. Sorry, I don't want to get, this is emotional a little bit, but he was riding next to me, 11 years old. We're driving.

I'm driving. And he's like, dad, do you think one day I can be a professional drummer? And I'm like, yeah, I do. and let's not have a backup. Let's do it. If you're going to do it, let's do it. I've always been like, I just, if this is what you want to do, follow your dream. I followed my dream.

You know, I was like, like I said, I packed my bags the day after high school graduation, and I was in the car, and I drove to Nashville. And so from that time on, he never wavered. This is what he always wanted to do. And he was an incredible drummer. I mean, Charles Kelly jammed with him when, when Chris was 11 years old, Christmas Day, because he got a brand new drum set,

and Charles came over to the house and jammed with him for an hour and was like, that kid is incredible. And so I've always just been that this is what you do, this is what you want, and this is your dream, then go for it. And let's not worry about it back up. He can also sing, which is weird for a drummer. It is. Like he can stand up and just sing his brains out.

Yeah, you know what we found? That's been something that's been incredibly awesome to see him grow just in the last two years, because we, I didn't really know that going in. You know, and the band, King Calloway, didn't know that either. Then what happened was he started singing all the high harmony. All that, like when they did Seven Bridges Road with Ricky Skaggs on the Opry and, you know, they do all those Eagles covers.

Well, he's singing that high harmony part. And honestly, I didn't know he really had that kind of a talent from a singing standpoint until the last year. So he's really grown a lot. And they all have all the guys in King Calloway have really grown a lot this year. I'm about to play no matter what in just a second. We get a lot of texts and we're talking about it a few times an hour, but we're all fine from the tornado. It hit a part of Nashville near where Amy lives, but not your house.

No, not my house. But houses near me and businesses a couple blocks away. So it's really crazy how that works. And the last we checked, there have been two deaths because of the tornado here in town. The weird thing is when it hits a city. That's right. That's the rare part. That's the rare part. I was asleep last night when it happened.

Like, I woke up and it had already all happened. The sirens didn't even go off in my neighborhood because I'm a little bit away from where it happened. Right. Like 20 minutes or so. But I'm in the same county, which is surprising. I know. I don't. Yeah, especially that you wouldn't hear.

them because there was no way I wasn't going to hear that and I'm just like I can't reiterate enough that I'm so thankful my husband was home because he travels a lot and our kids are asleep upstairs and I am totally the person they would be like okay these sirens is this is this a drill like yeah it's something broken yeah yeah like is this for real and like let's just power through but no he gathered us and put us in the bathroom and I'm so glad he did because that's just good however my son recently learned about tornadoes in school and for about three weeks now. He's been kind of scared of them for no reason, but just because he learned about them. And for three weeks, I've been kind of blowing it off like, hey, buddy, you have nothing

to worry about, nothing. So then, of course, last night happens. And we're in the bathroom and he's asking tons of questions. And we're kind of fine because we feel safe. And then when it's time to go back to bed, he won't. He wouldn't go upstairs. And he started crying and had to sleep in our room. And so I'm kind of hope today we're going to have probably work through some stuff with because he's going to walk around the neighborhood and see his favorite restaurant that got hit and be scared. And I don't want that for him.

Did you let him stay with you last night? Yeah, he stayed in our room. Yeah, and I mean, I don't even know that we got sleep. I kind of warned you that when I got in. I was like, I don't know if I'm going to be cranky today. I got no sleep. Well, I wouldn't even know if there was a tornado

until Amy texted me and goes, hey, are you taking shelter? Uh-huh. And then she was like, hey, are you good? And again, I thought maybe that she knew something about my relationship. I was like, what do I mean? I'm good. Did I get dumped?

I didn't know if there was. There's a tornado that had happened, you know, a bit away. So we'll find out more about it. But getting a lot of text from you guys, we're all fine. Yes. You know, I don't live in that part of town. Amy does and she's fine. I guess she's the only one that lives over there.

Lunchbox does, he's fine. Yes, he's fine. He has a basement. Yeah. I was like, oh, man, now I need a basement. Which some people are in our neighborhood. Dig you one out. Go home today.

Dig you one out. I know. A lot of the questions coming in for us now. In even calls are about the tornado. So just a heads up to you guys that are listening. We live in Nashville. You know, if you're new to this show, we live where country music is. We have access to all the artists.

And sometimes things happen in Nashville that really have nothing to do with country music, which is our home. And last night a tornado came through, I guess, around midnight or so. Yeah. My part of town, where it touched down a little bit, 12.50 a.m. is what I remember. Were you awake at all? I woke up to my phone beeping and sirens going off in the city.

My phone didn't even beat. No, mine didn't either. Well, I don't know if it's because I literally was, I don't know how they do that, but maybe if your phone is in a certain part of town where they say it's going to be. But both are, my husband's phone, my phone went off,

and then sirens in the city just started blaring, which I assumed the whole city of Nashville and anywhere nearby would hear those sirens, but I guess not. And then, yeah, we went upstairs, grabbed the kids, and locked ourselves in the bathroom with the dog. It's a little teeny tiny bathroom and I got blankets and we answered about one million questions

from Stevenson. He was nine. He's nine. He's nine. He's never been to a tornado. I'm very inquisitive. I had a neither really, I had a neither. And so I was just trying to stay calm.

I pulled up TikTok for my kids and was like, watch these videos. Calm down. And then I just pulled up Instagram. My husband was over there watching the weather on his phone and trying to keep everything calm. Caitlin texted me and was asking, did you hear a siren last night? because neither one of us did. We didn't hear anything. And the TV eventually goes off too.

So nothing happened in my house. Now I'm 20 minutes away from where it happened. The story is two killed, two people have been killed in East Nashville. At least 20 hurt after a tornado rips through downtown. A tornado touched down north of downtown Nashville, causing severe damage to several areas of town. Mayor John Cooper spoke from the farmer's market

where a shelter's been set out for displaced residents. He said officials won't be able to fully assess until all is in daylight, which we're getting into the morning now. He urged residents to be cautious, emphasizing there are numerous power lines down. And they say, if you see power lines down, just assume they're alive.

Yeah, well, that's why I couldn't, Bobby, you have a title boxing gym close in our neighborhood. And I wanted to go check on it before I came into work. And because I was just curious and literally couldn't get over there because of the power lines. And I was talking to my husband. And he's like, turn around.

near that like it could electrocute you. And so I did I you know the whole neighborhood, our neighborhood has lines down everywhere. And not that it matters but my title boxing gym in East Nashville is fine. But that's what a tornado does. It goes in hits and then

it's up. You know the big ones we see like in Oklahoma when those when a lot of people died, that's when they go down and sit and just go. And so we have on the phone now Justin McFarland who is in Nashville, for Fox 17 locally. Hey Justin, how are you, man?

Hey, good morning, Bobby. How are you, sir? Hey, so tell me, like, what you know happened to last night and kind of that chain of events. Well, what we know at this point is this is going to end up being a historic storm in the city of Nashville's history without question. And, you know, I've been here a long time since I was 11 years old. And this one is going to go right down with the 98 tornado for those who are here. for that. But unfortunately, we lost at least two people here in Metro. We just got that confirmed from the mayor's office. Two people have died here in Nashville. A total of nine people have died across several counties last night. Benton County, Putnam County, Wilson County, and here in Metro.

So the death toll right now, unfortunately, at nine people. Here in Nashville, we've got 47,000 people that are without power right now. Metro schools have closed for the day, with all the city and state offices have all closed for the day as well. We've got debris everywhere. Some of the hardest of the communities include the metro center community, a German town, East Nashville, Mount Juliet, all of them hit incredibly hard by this storm. And so it's going to take days to pick up the pieces,

if not weeks or months to get Nashville restored. And shelters are also open. Right now, natural does have a shelter open for anyone who needs it over at the Centennial Sportsplex, which is not too far away from Centennial Park there in the west side of town off of West End. So that is the long and short of what's happening. And, you know, Bobby, I could talk for a while about all the different things that are going on around the city right now to try to help it recover. And once again, not just Nashville, I want to emphasize there are other communities that are suffering as well. in Wilson County and Putnam County and in Bidden County as a result of these storms that came through last night.

Sirens, right. Sirens, yeah. You would think that would be a citywide thing, but no, I didn't hear anything. Yeah. And we all live in different places, too. Like, Eddie and I are far apart. I will say Eddie drove up, though, yesterday and played basketball with us. We were playing basketball with a Y yesterday yesterday, yesterday afternoon.

Me, my friend of Maude, who lives in Austin, my girlfriend, Caitlin, and Eddie played two-on-two. And you can go first. It was fun. First off, I had a blast. Like, I don't work. out really. I walk the dog. I run sometimes, lift the little weights.

But man, that basketball is a good workout. And here's the thing. You guys play hard. Like, Bones, you play hard. Your girlfriend plays hard. And Amad, our friend obviously plays hard. But, man, like, I felt like I was ready to give up. We played three games, Amy, and I was ready to give

up after one. Oh, wow. And I was on Caitlin. I was covering two on two, me and Bobby versus Amad and Caitlin. I was on Caitlin Bobby's girlfriend. She wore me out, man, at some point, I was like, she had the ball. I was like, just, just shoot that you were like, hey, just shoot. Not talking crap, like, you can't shoot.

Like, please shoot, so I don't have to go guard. So I'm going to have to run in. Yeah, just shoot. So we're done. And then I'm telling the other team, just make the basket so the game will be done, please. We played twice two on two, then we played three on three. With another couple guys jumped in. But it got pretty competitive.

That was fun, though, man. I had a blast. And she's good. She's really good. And she's really competitive. Amy, no offense to you, because I know you can drain bucket. buckets too, but she was draining threes. Yeah, I've seen on Instagram.

And she can be a little mean. Competitive. I think that's what you like to call it. Yeah, well, I'm very competitive. So competitive. Like a modest twice my size and we're about to fight each other. Oh my gosh. I would not do that. Amy, they were arguing. Bobby, I'd be like... When it's game time

and it's competition time, there's no size. Okay. It's me versus the world. You don't see size. And I'll be like, Eddie, come on. Eddie, like, I'm tired, man. Like you've been hitting the courts. I just love to compete. It doesn't matter what it is. Yeah. Love to compete. Are you sore? I can't even move, dude. Yes. My feet are sore. That's awesome. All the cutting back and forth.

You're going to keep it up? Probably not. Okay. I'll take the boys to the gym and shoot a little bit, but this whole like two on two, three on three, that business is, that's tough. What about you, but bones? Are you going to go back to the Y and play some pickup bowl? Sure. No, not with a bunch of dudes.

Caitlin and I play one-on-one. That gets pretty competitive. I go to the gym, do all my stuff. I'm fine. I could have played 10 more games yesterday. I'm in good cardiovascular shape. Yeah. No, you guys weren't even sweating.

I was like dripping sweat. Pretty worried about like rolling your ankle or hurting your knee. Yes. And I have some big stuff coming up that I'm super excited about. So let's just pump the brakes on the B ball. Oh, no. you can't say it now. Bones, didn't somebody come up to us afterwards and say like they were watching us play

and they're like, you guys were the most intense game. We've seen it here in a long time. Y'all posted a picture and y'all are all so sweaty. I was like, what? No, yeah, yeah. Well, it was fun yesterday. We played basketball to why. It was good.

It's just good to have a mod here. Caitlin's been here for like six days. She's going to go to the Grand Ole Opry tonight. Yeah, I love that she's going to get to go. Eddie and I are playing. Cannot wait. Yeah, Mon's going to come to. Oh, so you're hosting and playing?

So we're doing the TV show and then Eddie and are going to go play. Okay, gotcha. So all. I'm basically Jennifer Lopez at the opera. Wow, you are. Dang. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Appreciate you guys. Listen, I, you know, I know that it's hard for us to balance a show where we are hopefully your friends wherever you live, from Bakersfield to Austin to Boston. We are just happy to be your friend. And last night in our home, there was a tornado that hit. So we spent a good part of the show talking about that. And, you know, just talking openly and honestly, it's always, where is that line? Where does it fall whenever you're talking about things that happen near you versus something that

with somebody in Iowa's listening, they don't care. They're not listening. They don't care to hear that. So for us, we don't walk it right most of the time. But we try to find a way. And sometimes we just don't worry about ratings. It's like there are things bigger than ratings. And so we're going to do that.

So I appreciate how just how nice everybody has been about this. And as soon as I woke up this morning at 430, listeners were tweeting me going, hey, you okay? And I'm like, I got out from what? Like, what do you know before I started to actually see the news? That's awesome they cared about you and cared about us. And then a lot of texts from folks and friends. Oh, I know, people from all over the country that I haven't even heard from in a while I'm getting texts from.

So nice. So we appreciate you guys. That's all. I just want to say that. Tomorrow's co-host, by the way, Trooper Johnson, who is a state trooper for a long time. And it's now at the governor's executive protection detail. Dang. So retired state troopers now protects the governor.
