This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hello, gorgeous.
It's Lala Kent.
Host of Untraditionally Lala.
My days of filling up cups at sir may be over,
but I'm still loving life in the valley.
Live on the other side of the hill is giving grown-up vibes,
but over here on my podcast, Untraditionally Lala,
I'm still that Lala you either love or love to hate.
It's unruly, it's unruly, unafraid,
it's untraditionally Lala.
Listen to Untraditionally Lala on the IHartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
get your podcast. Hi, I'm Iris Palmer, host of the Against All Odds podcast. Every week, I'm
sitting down with exceptional people who have broken barriers even when the odds were stacked
against them. Like chef Victor Villa of Villas tacos. You know the taquero from the Bad Bunny
Halftime Show? It was great. It was a big moment. It was special. And I felt like I was really
representing my family, you know, my brand, my city. I was representing all taqueros,
not only of like, you know, the U.S., but of Mexico and beyond. All the taquero. All the taquero.
of the world. Listen to Against All Odds on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcast. And here's Heather with the weather. Well, it's beautiful out there, sunny and 75,
almost a little chilly in the shade. Now, let's get a read on the inside of your car. It is hot. You've
only been parked a short time, and it's already 99 degrees in there. Let's not leave children in the
back seat while running errands. It only takes a few minutes for their body temperatures to rise,
and that could be fatal.
Cars get hot, fast, and can be deadly.
Never leave a child in a car.
A message from Nitsa and the Ad Council.
Here we go.
Come on, Bobby.
Welcome to Wednesday's show.
Morning, studio.
Morning.
So a listener had asked me
what my most awkward running with a celebrity ever was.
We do this show and a lot of celebrities come in
and we hang out and sometimes you have good moments.
Sometimes you have good moments.
But if you were to say your most awkward moment with a celebrity,
I kind of just throwing this on you guys.
do you have one?
I'd also shared one of mine yesterday with Charles Kelly from Lady A,
he's the tall lead singer, who I know.
I know him.
But I've never stood at a urinal with him.
And we were standing right beside each other, peeing.
But he's six, six.
And I was like, he can see everything.
I mean, he was just, it was bird's eye view right down.
He didn't.
But all he had to do is make one eye adjustment.
He was right.
He was right in, you know, Bonesville, Tennessee, you know, I mean?
An awkward celebrity move encounter.
Who has one?
Lunchbox?
Yeah, it would be Gwen Stefani.
I was in Las Vegas and I was checking into the Cosmopolitan, the hotel.
And I see Gwen Stephanie walking towards the, like, where the cars are at.
And she has security with her.
But I run up to her with my bags.
And I'm like, Gwen, Gwen, I'm a big fan.
Can I get a picture?
And she looks at me.
And she's like, sure.
and I go to put my arm around her
and she goes, no touching.
Man, when you gave it the no touching,
that's like you don't feel safe.
They don't feel safe around you.
And so I have two thumbs up as I'm standing next to Gwen Stefani
and then she turns and walks out the door.
For the record, she's always been super kind to me.
It's super nice.
I met her a few times.
And I've never been told no touching.
I think it was just probably just screaming.
Probably I was chasing her through the lobby of the hotel.
I've never been told no touching.
That's a weird one.
It was very weird.
It was awkward, but I owned it and did two thumbs up.
Like, hey, happy to be here.
And she's leaning in and smiling, but right behind him in the picture, which I'm looking at is her bodyguard.
Uh-huh.
Just eyeball on it.
Hard.
Yes.
Eddie, you got an awkward celebrity story?
Yeah, it was ACL Fest, Austin, Texas.
I was backstage watching some band or whatever.
And some people were like, hey, get out of the way, out of the way.
Somebody's coming.
It was Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey.
And they're coming up the steps to go to the back of the stage.
And Lance Armstrong trips on the last step and falls.
right in front of me.
Oh, and I go, oh, dude, here, let me help you.
And he was like, I don't need your help.
Pushed my hand away.
Got up and like, well, that was awkward.
And then you just kept walking.
But not awkward for you for him.
Well, my hand was out.
Like, I'm trying to help me.
He just ignored you.
He almost left you hanging.
Yeah.
That's almost what that feels like.
Yeah.
Yeah, I've heard a lot of story similar-ish to that.
That was awkward.
Not fall downs, but just kind of like that attitude.
Amy?
I don't know.
Probably the time I called Rascal Flats old.
Oh, yeah.
In an interview.
Yeah.
There was the 50th like CMAs
and Amy's like have you been played all of them?
No, I think I said something like so is this y'all's 49th?
Yeah, well, that's right.
And yeah, I just thought that
it could still like get a little longevity.
Like y'all have been around.
49 years?
Yeah, it didn't really, they didn't get the reference really.
No, I think they did.
That's why they were offended.
Right.
And there was, I got a no touch one time Witt from Old Dominion.
I liked his sunglasses.
And I kind of just went up and like,
I wasn't going to do anything.
You took your hands and went right toward a sunglasses.
I know.
And he said, don't touch my glasses.
And I, I have not, every time I see them, I think of it.
And we've seen them a million times since then.
And I'm like, stay away from what's stay away.
You know, he doesn't grab someone's glasses.
I wasn't grabbing them to take them off or anything.
I just was saying like, oh, I like your glasses.
But you took your hand and tried to pinch this.
I know. I shouldn't have done it.
And I would never do it again.
It was cat, we were backstage, like, about to go.
Like, it was just a quick thing.
I have no idea what I was thinking.
But I definitely got a no touchy, touchy,
and it's like we just saw them last weekend and I felt like it was awkward.
Mine is going to be, I mean, I have 100.
I'll give you a very recent one.
It was very awkward.
I think for everybody, I guess it was awkward for me.
I don't really mind the awkwardness though.
It was when I was doing the interview with Sarah Evans in my house and she fell, the chair fell backward.
She fell in it and her coffee.
Like she was, she sat down in the chair to do the interview.
I have a chair, she has a chair, same chairs.
And maybe she sat a little too leany backy and she just wiped out backward.
Dude, I still have the image in my head of the coffee, like making a wave.
Yeah.
Going back.
Her feet are up in the air.
And everybody was looking at me like, what are you going to do now?
And then she kind of picked herself up and got in the chair and I was like, you can assume me?
She laughed it off, thankfully.
Because if she wouldn't have laughed, I think it would have been way more.
I think if she would have been heard had been different.
Well, that too.
Yeah.
Were you there?
Yeah.
Me and Amy.
Oh, it was for the, oh, that's right.
Yeah.
That was so crazy.
Oh, my God.
That's right.
I'm telling you, I have a still image in my head of her, like, falling back.
I can see the bottom of her shoes, and then I see the coffee mug, and then the coffee
coming out of the mug like a wave.
Was that for the radio show for the Bobbycast?
Both.
Oh, it was?
I gasped.
Got it.
Oh, yeah, it was a tough one.
I think we all were like, I remember all eyes on me.
I was like, well, let's see what happens here.
She's great.
She's great about it.
And then when I saw her later, she was like, better watch out for those chairs.
Like, maybe we got a little something in store for you.
All right.
Well, thank you for the question, though.
We appreciate that.
Let's get going here.
It is the Wednesday show.
We got a lot of good stuff.
We're going to do some historic trivia in a little bit.
But it'll be fun.
I promise you.
But we love trivia.
That's coming up.
And somebody got an apology for somebody here on the show in a few minutes, too.
Let's open up the mailbag.
You send an email and we read it all the air.
It's something we call Bobby's Mailbag.
Yeah.
Hello, Bobby Bones. I'm renovating my house. I have new neighbors and had a big workday. Now, they work the night shift all week, every week. I have saws. I have drills. I started working at 9 a.m. 2 hours after the allowed 7 a.m. power tool usage in my area. So his area says 7 a.m., you can use big tools and trucks and stuff. But he started at 9. And I finished at 4 p.m. They were not happy with me.
I responded calmly
understanding that they're tired
however the world cannot stop for them
this is literally my job
they did the classic threat of being noisy with loud music
at 3 a.m. when my family is sleeping
to which I reminded them
that's actually illegal
they aggressively suggested I do it on weekends
however that is not when my family
are at work and school
I need to spend time with them how would you handle the situation
sign Bob the builder
Amy you're nodding, go ahead
Well, I just think that instead of like this tip or tad of we're going to do this, we're going to do that, maybe come up with suggestions for them that'll actually be helpful.
Like a sound machine, a fan.
Like they're the ones that are sleeping during the day.
But just offer up some suggestions.
Because for me, that helps.
Anytime I've lived next to noisy people, sound machines, ear plugs, things help.
I mean.
Wait, so you're saying like gift them a sound machine?
Or just say, hey, like, have you tried this?
sound machine.
Yeah, that's pretty more sound.
I think you need to be like,
hey.
Like it is, if they're tired and cranky,
it's just in this whole like,
oh, sorry, I got to work.
And then they're like, well,
I'm going to play music at 3 a.m.
Like, this just doesn't already sound very mature.
So just approach them,
calm, mature,
offer a solution.
And then try to help them out
because they clearly haven't thought of that.
So they work at night
and sleep in the day and do the opposite.
You are following.
the guidelines of the community.
I didn't know there are power tool hours, but that's cool.
I think it's mostly for like mowing.
So people aren't mowing their yard at 4.30 in the morning.
That would be wild.
Or construction.
I mean, that's what he's talking about.
Yeah, I think the conversation is, hey, what would you suggest I do if it's not weekends?
But they may not even want to have that.
I suggest you not do it while we're sleeping.
Okay, let me know the exact hour you sleep.
That's not enough time.
And then you just freaking do it.
There's a certain point where you just have to do what you got to do.
It's within the rules.
They have a weird job.
I mean, I think a sound machine's fun.
But now they're playing games where they're playing loud music.
But that's illegal.
That's threatening.
Call the cops?
Yes.
So it's full on war.
It's half Bill McCoys.
It doesn't have to get there.
But what they're asking is for you to change what is already allowed.
What you're asking is for them to stop doing what's already illegal.
you have the upper hand here
because what you're doing is within all rules
but you can be nice about it and say
what would you suggest I do when I need
six, seven hours a day to be able to do
this and it's not going to be on weekends.
What is your suggestion? Let them
have a few bad suggestions.
How about this? Like, have you all
gotten noise reduction curtains?
Then do this. They'd be like,
what do you think about and every time they start talking
you get the drill. Just go full child.
So do you like what I'm building?
Well, actually, you give them a chance to suggest a few things.
And then when they don't work, you just have to go, look, I'm sorry, I'll do my best.
But I have to do my hours.
And that's it.
That's the end of it.
Okay.
I'm still going to probably wrap up the sound machine and put it on their porch.
Probably will come across as passive aggressive a bit.
But in a not, I'll say in the note, this is not, this is for real a gift.
Enjoy.
And it's in the box of earplugs.
It's not passive aggressive, I promise.
Yeah, that's a tough one.
But in the end, you are following rules and they are not.
with their reply to you.
I would just ask them what they would suggest.
When none of that works, just get to business.
But that's a tough one day, because one day you're going to need their help.
Usually one day, something happens.
You need you.
You need sugar sometimes.
That's old school.
You know what I mean?
Mostly it's like, hey, somebody broke into our house.
Did you see any?
Oh, yeah.
Can you go check?
Yeah.
And they broke in and stole my power tools.
And you look in their back.
And they stole them.
All right, that's the mailback.
Close it up.
We've got your email and we found the clothes.
Bobby's Mailpack.
Yeah.
Let's go over to Jennifer, who lives in Oklahoma.
Hey, Jennifer, welcome to the show.
How's it going?
Good morning.
Hi, good morning, studio.
Morning.
I have it.
Tell me something good for today.
All right, bring it.
We're on the way to the courthouse for adoption day.
Okay.
All right.
Nice job.
So, wait, what's going on?
We've had her since she was 10 days old.
She's a family member, and she's seven-month-old.
So you had her since 10 days old, and now she's seven-month-old.
And so were you fostering her?
and now it's going to adoption?
Correct, yes.
Man, Eddie, I remember like it was yesterday when we had the same thing.
Eddie has four kids, two of them.
He was fostering, and now he's the adoptive parents of two boys.
But, man, I remember going to the courtroom, and I was like,
why are all Eddie's kids wearing Dallas Cowboy shirts?
Yeah, they all had their own jersey.
They were one, two, three, and four, and they had Garcia in the back.
That's a big day, though.
God, dude, you know what's funny?
Like, I don't go to, like, courthouse as much,
but when you go in there, it's just a weird feeling of like, oh, man, you're in trouble.
Like, going to jail.
Right?
But that day, it was just the most wonderful feeling of being in that courtroom.
And even the judge is like, these things are the best things that I get to do in my life.
What do you want to say to her?
Just, I mean, enjoy today.
I hope you guys have a big celebration because this is something to celebrate.
I think it's so awesome for her and it's great for your family.
And I'm just so happy for you guys.
Yeah, congratulations, Jennifer.
And I hope today goes awesome.
Thank you.
That's amazing news.
Thank you.
I do want to talk about Eddie for a second because I do like it.
Eddie wants to apologize to you, Amy.
And he wanted to do it publicly.
Sincerely.
I'll let him do it. Go ahead.
Amy, I want to say I'm really, really sorry.
You came on a few days ago, and you've talked about this for a while about how you think that your mom is a cardinal.
Bird.
Bird.
And we sometimes laugh because you look for signs and you're like, Amy, it's just a cardinal.
There are millions of cardinals out there, right?
I saw a video online of a boy who had just lost his dad, like just right?
recently lost his dad and he's sitting on the front porch and a cardinal comes out of nowhere
sits right in front of him on the porch and get this the kid touches the cardinal pets the cardinal
doesn't even move like that's crazy so now amy i want to apologize and say you might be right
i think cardinals may be dead people thank you that means a lot like i'm glad that you witnessed that
video because that's immediately after my mom passed away. A cardinal came into tree. I mean, we were
indoors. We weren't outside, but right outside my mom's window or where she was laying, my sister and I
look up and there's a red cardinal right there. So how did your dad end up being a blue jay then?
Because I was very involved with birds during that season of my life. This was 2021 when my dad passed away.
And that was a rough year where I did a lot of bird watching and puzzles at my kids.
kitchen table and I had bird bingo going. So I had a list of birds that would come and,
you know, visit and I would check them off. Like, you know, bird bingo stamp.
No, who doesn't play bird bingo? Right. And I was really tracking who was coming to my feeder.
And I had never had a blue jay at my feeder. And then my dad dies. And guess what, who comes to
visit? Right away, a blue jay. And my dad had blue eyes. He loved the color blue. I just feel like,
okay, my mom's Cardinal and my dad's Blue Jay,
and sometimes they now come to the feeder together,
and it's really special for me to see them hanging out
because they were divorced.
So they're back together?
Yeah.
I want to let my family know, too.
When I die, I'm going to come back as a bald eagle.
Oh.
I'm going to tell them that right now
so that when I die and a bald eagle comes to my house,
they're going to know it's me.
I'm going to come back as a polar bear.
So that's what you know what's me.
If you're similar where polar bears are and a polar bear shows up,
that's how you know what's in Nashville?
How are you going to get there?
Who knows?
I just, that's the deal.
I'm going to be a polar freaking bear.
Dude, I mean, you can't doubt that.
If I pull,
and it's a polar bear, you know it's me inside of that thing.
Anyway, he wants to apologize because now he...
I'm sorry, Amy.
You get it now.
Yeah, I do get it.
Have you ever touched the bird, though?
I haven't.
I haven't ever been able to touch the bird.
They're always outside.
But you did say that there was a kid screaming the last time you saw the bird,
and the bird didn't even budge.
Exactly.
And that was when my mom was giving me the message that it's okay for me to sell my house.
And I have peace about it now.
Kid probably screamed a lot.
There's no bird just used to it.
But hey, good for you.
Everybody can believe what they want to believe.
How about that?
Thank you.
This world's a better place when we all just get off each other's backs.
I know, but it's a beautiful thing when someone can come back and admit that they were possibly a little harsh and wrong.
Oh, just harsh?
I agree with.
Well, I was harsh.
Okay.
Maybe I was.
I don't remember that part.
Wrong.
Can't prove, by the way.
It's time for the good news.
With lunchbox.
Stay at home, it's not been good.
There was two brothers in Nebraska.
They're at home sitting there watching TV.
When one of the wives calls says, hey, tornado headed your way, get in the basement, get the dogs, hurry.
And it's like, run!
They grab the dogs, but they don't make it downstairs in time.
All of a sudden, the tornado hits.
Destroys the house.
One guy goes flying.
One guy gets buried under the debris.
Imagine flying because of a tornado.
Wow.
Go ahead.
But they're both okay.
What happened to the dogs, say?
Dogs got to be good.
Or they put the...
Right.
I'm all hard. Dogs are good.
Oh.
Yeah.
My heart's the dog's never been better.
He found it.
Am I hard, dogs got to the basement.
Both dogs found okay.
Okay.
I was watching the preview as a
trailer, a three-minute trailer
for Twisters that's coming out.
You got the guy,
the really good-looking guy
with all the abs who was in the...
Top Gun. He was a Top Gun.
Glenn Powell. He was in Top Gun?
Yeah, he was like the...
I never saw Top Gun.
But then he's also in the...
Sidney Sweeney.
in that movie they did together.
So he's in it.
And then the girl from where the Croddads sing.
Yeah, she's cool.
Is in it.
And there's one point, because this is like one of those big summer,
they spent a whole bunch of money, Blockbusters.
There's one part where a tornado goes over the, like some kind of factory that has
like a smoke stack, and it catches the fire in the tornado.
That's cool.
Bro.
Looks awesome.
I don't even know if that can really happen.
But the other thing, it looks crazy.
I mean, think about it.
If something's on fire and a tornado goes over it,
does it put the fire out?
Or does it take it with it?
Does it combine with the fire and become a fire nado?
So I know that's not the same.
I'm glad they lived.
That Twister's movie comes out July 19th, though.
That Glenn Powell, that's a good looking dude.
Yeah, you described him as the hot guy with the abs, that guy?
Yeah.
I don't really know him from much else.
But yeah, pretty good looking guy.
All right, there you go.
That's what's all about.
That was Tell Me Something Good.
Which, by the way, speaking of tornadoes, it's been almost two weeks since the deadly tornadoes hit and the American Red Cross is there, helping people impacted by the storms.
If you want to help, there is a way that you can help.
You can help people that are affected by this disaster or others, the Red Cross disaster relief.
And I was talking about Twisters.
You can go to Red Cross.org slash Twisters and make a minimum donation of $10.
So Red Cross.org slash Twisters to make that donation.
You can have opinions.
You can have like a strong stance.
And then there's your body having its own program.

Don't miss any of these presidential questions. If you miss it, you're out.
So it's president's trivia. Today is Harry Truman's birthday. He was the 33rd president of the United States.
Happy birthday, Harry Truman. You gave us a reason to play this game.
What was he, 33rd?
33rd President. Oh, Harry Truman.
Ready?
Ready.
Don't miss it. Write your answer down. Everybody's in.
Who was the president during the Civil War in the North?
I'm in.
I'm in.
I'm in for the win.

Lockbox?
Abraham Lincoln.
Eddie?
Abe Lincoln.
Nice job, everybody.
You got yourself a presidential point.
Number two.

Father, I cannot tell a lie, I chop down that cherry tree.
Amen.
According to folklore, what president said, father, I cannot tell a lie.
I chopped down that cherry tree.
Amen.
Then for the win.
Lunchbox.
George Washington.
Eddie.
Washington.
Amy.
George Washington.
Correct.
Next up.
Who was the only president.
Born in Hawaii.
Allegedly.

Good job, good job, good job.
How we feel so far.

Correct.
One of two.
Yep.
Good job, everybody.
Presidential trivia next up.
What does the W stand for
in George W. Bush?
I'm in
That's not fair. Amy knows them.
Yeah, personally.
Yeah.
I don't know that I have this right.
You call him Uncle Georgie.
George W. Bush.
What's the W?
I'm in for the win.
I'm in.
Eddie?
William.
Lunchbox?
William.
Amy?
Walker.
Walker is correct.
God!
Amy wins.
Amy you're the champion.
That's not fair.
She knows.
him personally. Yeah, she has a relationship. It's a famous president. She probably called him
Walker. What's the F. 4 and John F. Kennedy? Fitzgerald. You don't know him personally. How do you
know that? Everyone knows that. Yeah, exactly. You want to play for second place between you two?
Yes. Amy, you're already the champion. Okay. You can play though if you want, but they're
playing for second place. But if you miss it, you're down to second. Not true. Here we go.
How many living presidents are there?
Hold on. Hold on. You can do this.
It's like Garfield's dead.
All right, now I'm just guessing.
I have a guess.
I am in for the win.
Lunchbox.
Seven.
Who do you have?
I have Carter, Reagan, Bush,
Clinton, Obama, Trump, Biden.
Do that again?
Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Obama, Trump, Biden.
Okay.
That's seven.
Eddie, what do you have?
I just wrote seven.
I didn't have a list or anything.
No list? Amy?
I have five.
Okay, well, Reagan's not alive.
Hadn't been alive for a long time.
Oh, you hadn't?
Uh-uh.
But he missed someone there.
Is Carter still alive?
Jimmy Carter is 99, I believe.
Yeah, but I thought.
He's still kicking.
I thought he was like pos-spos.
Oh, this is why?
Yeah, the answer is six.
I believe Jimmy Carter is still alive.
It's Jimmy Carter, who's 99.
Bill Clinton, who's 77.
George W. Bush.
W.
W.
Walker.
Who's 77.
Barack Obama, 62.
Donald Trump, 77.
Joe Biden, 81.
Six left.
Sorry, President Carter.
I thought.
Well, we still don't have a second place, guys.
Okay.
Keep on.
Keep going.
Who succeeded John F. Kennedy after its assassination?
I just sit out.
Amy, if I were you.
I'm going to have no idea on this.
All right, I'm in for the win.
He knows it, too.
For the win in second place.
Lunchbox?
Roosevelt.
I have no idea.
Eddie.
I'm second place.
Lyndon B. Johnson.
Correct.
How do you know that?
Because he got inaugurated on the plane.
And how do you know that?
Um, documentaries.
Where are you from?
Texas.
Oh, and he's Texas dude.
That's right, Johnson City.
Isn't that crazy, though?
Like, just hours after he got shot, they like inaugurated him on the plan.
Eddie, you are the winner.
Nice job.
Second place is the winner.
You get silver.
Lunchbox, to get a medal at all, you had to get this right.
What two pairs of fathers and sons have been presidents?
Oh, that's bushes.
That's George and George.
You need this again on the metal sand
Oh wait
No no that's different
We're already waiting
I was gonna say
Adams but he was just it twice
He probably he just didn't do it twice in a row
What two pairs of fathers and sons
Have been president
Man there's been
There's been a lot of Kennedys up in the
Like political world
Yeah how many Kennedy presidents do you know
The one you just talked about getting shot
Which one's that?
John Kennedy.
And then there's one running now named Robert, right?
Okay, but not president.
Richard.
Five seconds?
I'm going to go with Kennedy, but I don't know the...
You know, the other presidential Kennedy.
I don't know if there is a second one, but...
What do you know?
I don't know.
What would you guess?
I guess Adams.
It's Adams.
Yeah.
His son?
John Adams, President from...
1797 to 1801 of John Quincy Adams from 1825 to 1829.
That was his son.
That was right.
I was going to get the Roosevelt, but dang, I thought he just did it twice.
They were barely, they were like fourth or fifth cousins.
Weird.
They just had the same last name.
That's FDR and Teddy?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's, I think there were, don't, hey, don't quote me on the number,
but I think they were just like distant cousins more than the, yeah.
Amy's our winner.
Eddie, you get a silver medal.
I'll take it.
Lunchbox, you're in the stand.
You watch.
That's our presentation.
Truman.
What president is Truman?
33.
Correct.
Wow, good job, Amy.
Happy birthday.
Give me your thoughts on this from Askman.
These are things that guys no longer have to do to consider themselves, quote, unquote, manly.
Because the culture's changed.
So guys no longer have to do this, okay?
So the question is, do guys have to do this to be considered manly.
Number one, lack of play sports.
To be considered manly, anybody can answer here.
Amy, lunchbox, Eddie.
Morgan, you can jump into.
to like or play sports.
How'd you be manly?
So let's say you meet a dude
and he doesn't like sports or play sports.
Is he manly?
Yes.
He still can be?
Yeah, definitely.
Okay.
Yeah, it's definitely odd, but he's still manly.
But if he's like, football.
Ew.
No, I've talked to a lot of dudes that are like, yeah, I'm manly.
And I'm like, hey, who's your team?
Like, I don't watch football.
It's stupid.
Okay.
But baseball or basketball?
I don't watch baseball.
UFC?
Yeah, that's true.
So would a dude be considered?
manly if he doesn't like sports. No, 100%. I've met neighbors that I try to talk sports or I go over
there and they don't have a sports game. They don't have baseball, football, anything on. And I'm just like,
I can't talk to you and you've lost all respect. Like we can't be friends. And my wife's like,
oh, I love the wife. What do you think? I'm like, he doesn't like sports. You're out.
That's always a tough when you can't connect over that. What else are you going to talk about?
Yeah, I guess I'm guilty of being conditioned because I'll, I'll say that a man is manly without liking it.
However, my personal preference, even though I don't really like sports,
is that I would be attracted to someone that can like talk sports and no sports.
Yeah, because it's manly.
I think you'd need a lot of other things to fall just right to still be manly and not like sports.
But it's tough.
That's a tough one.
Like literally, honestly, I don't understand what do you like if you don't like sports if you're a man?
Anything.
Anything else in the world?
There's nothing else to do.
Traveling.
Parenting.
But again, that wouldn't be this, whatever this toxic definition of me.
manly is.
Like, I mean, you could be somebody who like hike.
Morgan, what do you have?
I mean, like traveling, I'm dated guys who don't really watch sports.
And you still feel like.
How's that been, Morgan?
What else about them, though, kind of equals out the manly thing?
I think, I think manliness can come in a lot of forms.
Like, if they're strong, like, maybe they like to work out.
I don't consider that a sport, but like they're, they like to work out.
They're physically fit.
So.
I'm with you.
I think a lot of other things have to fall into place for that, though.
That's a tough one.
like movies.
How about, you know, men drink beer, but what if a man doesn't drink beer at all and only
likes wine or champagne?
Oh, not manly.
You're still manly.
No, no.
Wine and champagne?
Like, you can drink whiskey.
They don't drink beer at all.
No.
But all they like wine and champagne.
No.
Not manly.
Nope.
No.
If I see you at the bar sipping on bubbly, something wrong.
What if it's like a celebration, though?
That's fine.
Okay.
Like if it's a wedding celebration, we're doing a toast.
But if we go to a bar and you're like, oh, can I get some champagne?
What about a glass of wine?
What about people pop bottles at the table?
Like, you order champagne for everybody.
Amy, but they're drinking.
Popping bottles is manly.
Like, if you're having one little glass of champagne, like, no.
This is coming from lunchbox who ordered a coconut drink the last time we were at a bar.
So just-
Coconut margarita.
Yeah.
Throwing that out there.
Cute.
Okay, how about this?
If the guy is extremely good and vocal and communicative about his feelings.
That's mainly.
Is it?
Yeah.
It's hot.
That's soft.
not manly.
It's soft.
That's the opposite of man.
Yeah.
Y'all are just the generation that missed it.
You know?
No, no.
You can be in touch with your feeling.
Like, he can have feelings, but that you're not manly.
You're more like a pretty boy.
Like, when do you see a manly man talk about his feelings?
But again, I think your definition of manly is that old, I have no feelings, caveman.
But it doesn't even have to go back to that far.
It's like, I think our parents didn't really show feelings.
and so we're the generation of...
But Eddie, like, flexed when he said that.
People couldn't see it.
Well, I just meant manly, you know what I mean?
Like, my dad's term was always like, get over it.
Right.
That's what he always said.
Get over it.
But you've evolved as a dad.
You don't tell your kids that.
Sometimes I'm like, just get over it.
I think if they don't like sports, they only like champagne and they love talking about their feelings,
that's going to be a tough mix for me.
Oh, boy.
But we're talking about them one at a time.
One of the time.
One of time we're done.
I don't have a problem.
I think you can still be manly and talk about it.
your feelings. I think it's how you talk about your feelings.
Also, I don't think I'm manly.
No, no, no, we weren't thinking that.
Okay, just making sure that I'm not talking about from my perspective.
Okay.
They enjoy having stay-in-home decoration.
Oh, no.
Oh, that's manly.
No.
Is it manly that they want to like decorate the house?
That would be awesome.
Yes, my sister's husband had.
But not like with pelts and stuff or posters.
I think it's great when they can do that.
No, that means you're their beard.
So you think the only guys that want to do that are good.
Yeah.
I mean, usually it is, though.
I try to have some say on our home decoration.
And how does that go?
Well, I wanted to put helmets in certain places.
I know.
I know, I was like, we put some helmets here.
Like if you're talking about the rug or the artwork or the, some people, if you watch those shows,
they call it the flow of the house or something?
Lung Shui.
Hey, lunchbox, I don't know what you're talking about, dude.
I don't know.
My wife watches and they talk about that.
That's what it's called. Amy.
I don't feel like lunchbox is right in that capacity,
but I don't know a lot of dudes that like to be the home decorator unless they're decorating like their own space,
like their man space.
Dude, if there is a guy on Saturday is like, hey, you want to watch football?
No, actually, I want to go to Haverty's and look at couches.
Okay, sorry, we're not friends.
Unless it's for the man den or the man cave or the sports room, you know?
No, you just order that online.
Okay.
How about this?
He is not the sole breadwinner in the house.
Oh, bad look.
Is he still manly?
I say yes.
You can still be manly and not be the main.
Yes, women work now and make money.
I agree with you.
But I have to think about it.
You did.
I didn't think about it a little bit.
Because manly, dude, again.
I mean, it's a provider to you.
I mean, you're the man of the house.
You're the hundred and gatherer.
You've got to bring it home.
Provide plenty of things, even though you may not have the higher end of the
Right.
Oh, yeah.
Take home.
You can bring your decorating skills
in a glass of champagne.
But you know what?
If you're not the man in the house,
you're probably decorating the house too, huh?
Yeah, exactly.
I would change my mind.
You can't be the manly one.
I'll be the breadwinner.
See, I don't agree.
I don't agree.
But.
What if, I mean, is there any chance
you could be manly and not like sports,
love champagne,
can talk about your feelings,
you're into home decoration
and you're not the breadwinner.
Is there any way all those could be?
be in the same packet and still be manly.
Yes.
Because there's plenty of other things you can do.
I'm on your side too, but there are plenty of things you can do that equal manly.
Go ahead.
Like you're not, you're like, I don't know, with the decorating, are you building a table with your power tools out back?
I doubt it.
Are you whittling a coffee table from a tree?
I also think that, that's manly.
That's manly.
Weird definition of manly that women can be manly.
And not in like the, they're like a dude.
The manly definition is an odd thing that is unfair and it's a gender role based on security, provider, no emotions.
I mean, I think a woman could be that too.
I'm not saying you've got to have a weaner to be manly.
But the word is called manly.
Okay.
Okay, but then for men that maybe don't earn as much as their partner, then they feel inadequate and feel shame because y'all are over here saying that they're not manly if they're not the top earner.
I'm not saying that.
It's not ours. They have that feeling already. We're not doing that.
We're just reinforcing it. You're just reinforcing it. I don't think that's the case.
I don't think that's the case. I know you don't. I'm speaking to them too.
Five people here. Who thinks if you make less money, you're less manly?
Me.
One? Go ahead, Eddie. You already agreed.
I'm still thinking about that. Okay, we'll come back to you, Morgan.
I don't think it makes you less manly. Amy.
It's not less. No, you're still manly.
So we're two to one right now, Eddie?
Okay, less manly. Less manly. You think it makes you less manly? Yeah, a little bit.
Not by much, a little bit.
It's a thin majority.
Three, two.
So you would say that to a guy's face.
If you found out that your friend, like, made less, you'd be like, dude, you're not.
Depends if you like sports or not.
Is he manly?
Yeah, it depends on manly.
Here's Amy's pile of stories.
The average American ignores a check engine light for four months.
Yeah.
I was like, okay, cool.
We're in good company.
Well, I would say that most people feel like that check engine light means more than just check the engine because something might be up.
It means once you go and get this checked out, it's going to cost a lot of money.
So you avoid paying that because you don't have it budgeted.
Because if it weren't about that, you would just go, hey, look at this real quick.
Right.
And if your car's running okay, like nothing's happening, it's not like just keep going.
And also, don't we all feel like it's just a short anyway?
Yeah.
Like there's nothing wrong with the car.
There's just a short that's making that light come on.
Exactly.
Well, yeah.
The problem is mechanics are like, hey, you know, the more you delay it, the worst you're
going to make something. So go ahead and take the time to take it in. For me, that's just
the, yeah, it's like the time. It's like, ah, is it really this bad? Yeah, it's the version of
people who get ahead of things or people who procrastinate to a couple hours before the test in school.
Or putting gas in your car. That's one too, or letting your cell phone die. Oh, yeah.
I said they've, there's two types of people in this world. Yeah, are having lots of red dots.
Yes. All right, what else? Shack said that he spends $1,000 on pedicures because his feet are ugly and
stinky and he likes to get them painted with sparkles and designs.
I bet he has a massive feet.
I bet if he goes into a place that's not used to having his feet there, they're like, holy.
Oh, yeah.
They've got to be the biggest feet that someone who's doing pedicures for a living that they've ever seen in their life.
Yeah.
I mean, he's a gigantic man.
So he had this situation once when he was playing basketball where he tore a toenail.
And, like, his mom painted it red.
And then he went on to score 40 points.
So I think that's where his, like, affinity for painting came.
from? I wear an 11. He wears a size
22. Does that mean his foot is exactly double my
size or does it isn't like dog years?
It's seven years for a while and then it gets to be less than that as they get older.
I got to think about that. I've never seen a 22. That's huge.
All right, what else? Well, speaking to sports or Shaq playing basketball,
whatever sport you like to watch, there's a new study out that saying watching sports
is good for your mental health. Of course it is. So watch all the time. And if my
wife's listening, watch all the sports. Yeah, it says it boosts our mental health and
generally makes humans happier.
Done by ESPN.com.
But I think that's if you have wins,
because you're pretty depressed when Arkansas
loses. I don't think it's about a result. I think it's about
during an overall
camaraderie.
No, because nobody else watches my stuff,
only me. I don't have any other friends that are really Arkansas
fans. Eddie kind of threw association because he gets a bunch
of free stuff. Yeah. Yeah, and now my
son, because he gets a bunch of free stuff. But I think
it just gives us a feeling of we're a part of something.
My teams lose all the time.
I'm definitely a loser when it comes.
In my life, I've lost way more than I've won with all my favorite teams combined.
But you also watch other games that aren't your teams.
Yeah, but those, I mean, it's some gambling.
It's the only reason I'm talking about my teams.
I've probably lost 70% overall.
But yeah, we still love our team.
It's a hard knock life for me.
They call it your reward circuit and your rain.
I need more rewards.
Hopefully this evens out soon.
It's feelings of pleasure and have.
happiness and so you're still getting that fulfilled, I guess.
Get that in other ways.
Oh, okay.
Baseball cards.
Oh, yeah.
Sorry.
I mean, that's my pile.
That was Amy's pile of stories.
It's time for the good news.
With Bobby.
Tell me something good.
This family goes on a trip into Death Valley.
It's a national park right on the California, Nevada border.
Their vehicle gets stuck in mud.
That itself stinks.
But secondly, not a lot of cell service in this national park, so you can't use your phone.
Luckily, one of the first,
family members happened to be an amateur radio operator and had his little amateur radio with
them. That's awesome. Nice. Yeah. So Caleb Gus Willer. He was listening from Ohio. Those things go
forever. And he heard the family's distress call. And before he lost the signal, he was able to
identify the sender's call sign and then determine the general location of the stranded family.
He then got on Facebook with other radio operators and said, hey, I got this communication.
Is there any way anybody could figure out?
So they called, they flew over that
they found them and they were able to get them out.
Wow!
That's from In Compliance Magazine.
And if you guys aren't careful, myself included,
we'll all be fellow amateur radio operators soon.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You have to have a big antenna from your house.
I'm just saying, we'll just be doing it for fun, you know what I mean?
But that's crazy.
Dude, your car gets stuck in Death Valley.
I think it's over, right?
We don't die in Death Valley.
Why is it called Death Valley?
Why? Why do they call that?
Well, humans don't die, but it's like desert.
Yeah.
So hot you can die there.
But mud is wet.
So that means there's water somewhere.
Okay, listen, there's just no cell.
It's a big national park.
Got it.
And this dude who was listening on his amateur radio heard it.
That's a great story.
That is what it's all about.
That was Tell Me Something Good.
You can have opinions.
You can have like a strong stance.
And then there's your body having its own program.
I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast a slight change of plans,
a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans.
We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation.
There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships.
I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change.
We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.

On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money.
What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here?
We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts.
Too many of us were never, ever taught.
Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich.
That's great.
It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family.

The World Cup is coming.

I'm not worried about Balagan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers,
he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise

Want to play this voicemail?
I have a personal tell me something good.
My son just found out last night that he got into the Air Force Academy.
He leaves him 53 days.
I'm so very proud of him.
His name is Jack from Bakersfield, California.
Nice job.
Let's go.
Awesome.
That is a good one.
Good morning.
Appreciate you, and thanks for sharing that with us.
All right, let's go to get at Amy's morning, corny.
The morning corny.
Why did the little bird get in trouble at
school. Why did the little bird get in trouble at school?
He was caught tweeting on his test.
Like cheating.
That was the morning corny.
There's a voicemail we got last night.
I need your guys' advice. I am a college kid and I am single and ready to mingle.
My biggest issue is every time I feel like I can go up to a girl, I feel like a creep.
In the gym, I go up to him, I feel like a creep just trying to hit on her.
I go to the bars.
I feel like just another creep trying to hit on them.
Try to do it to DM things.
I feel like a creep trying to hit on another girl.
Setting pick-up lines, just trying to create conversation.
Like normal people do, right?
What is your guys' advice so the best way to start talking to somebody
and get to know new people?
Just so you know, as a dude, you're always a creep trying to hit on somebody
until you get past that level.
That's where you start.
It's where every dude starts.
It's never comfortable.
Cole calling, never easy.
Cole calling is just going up to somebody.
You're always a creep.
until they decide you're not.
Because yes, if you go up somebody with your, you know,
AirPods in, earbuds, you know, excuse me.
And even if it's something that's like, hey, I saw that you had this book that I read.
Unless she already is kind of attracted to you, that's a creepy thing to do.
But then it's also not creepy if she likes you.
And she's attracted to you right then.
It's such a fine line.
You are a creep until you're told otherwise as a dude.
So first of all, yep, it's all creepy until it's not.
Morgan, what are your thoughts here with this guy?
What would you tell them?
I would say a lot of it has to do with confidence.
If you're already going in a little bit on it, like on edge and being a little shaky,
they're going to feel that.
Like if you go up and you just, you commit to it.
Like, don't back down, just commit to what you're doing.
I think that has a lot to do with it.
And then don't, don't do pickup lines.
Don't do cheesy pickup lines.
But what if he doesn't know what to say?
Just be like, hi, how are you doing today?
It's really good to see you.
What's your name?
Well, that would creep me out.
But it's better than being like, hey.
Well, like, where's my wallet?
Did you fall from heaven?
Okay, so the cheesy pickup line, bad deal.
Yes, no cheesy pickup line.
Maybe not that strong, but like no cheesy pick-in-line.
I don't know that I hate the pickup line.
It's like an icebreaker.
That's like you have nothing else in your whole arsenal to go to,
so you're going to get something you took off the internet.
Yeah.
So, like, did it hurt?
When you fell from heaven?
Yeah, that's a good one.
Yeah, I feel like that would just be, like, lazy or unintelligent.
Well, it makes you laugh.
It immediately laugh and then you just don't take that person seriously and you're like, okay, you're out.
Oh.
So would you agree that any guy that comes up and Cole calls a woman, they just have to understand they're in the creed radar and they have to live with it.
They could think it doesn't matter who they are.
They may be thought of as a creed.
Yeah, there's always that possibility.
Even if they're not.
It depends on the situation that the girl's in.
Yeah.
And you definitely got to, you just, like I said, it has so much to do with confidence.
I feel like if you don't have the confidence, then that's when that creep factor really comes in.
I'm saying, because you can, you can read energy.
And if you're coming and you're strong and you're confident, I'm not going to be like,
okay, like, what's happening?
You're just a confident person.
What about smiling?
Like, would you prefer a smiley face and is there too much of a smile?
And does that make you a creep?
Yeah, I think you can do like a soft smile.
Very soft.
Like, not a lot of teeth.
Like, don't be chees in it.
But if you do big smile with no teeth talking.
That's a little weird.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a fine line, man.
It's so tough.
What if he, like, finds them?
sees their name, goes and searches them out on social media,
and then DMs them and says,
hey, I saw you at the gym.
Da, da, da, da, da, the DM style.
Is that ever creepy?
I think that's a great way to go about it with this day and age
because you can,
you can both avoid that it ever happened.
If she's not interested and she doesn't respond,
it never happened for both of you.
But then what if you wonder,
maybe she never saw my message?
You go up and be like,
did you read my message?
No.
Definitely don't do that.
Don't do that.
Like, I promise most of the time
they're seeing the message.
So what is your advice to him on how to create conversation in these awkward places?
Give him some real tangible advice he can take from this segment here.
I think you keep continuing to go up to people.
Just have your confidence.
Find a very easy conversation in.
Maybe you like, hey, I like your shoes or find an easy way in and have confidence.
Don't push it.
Just be like a welcoming human being and see where it goes.
No pickup lines.
No pickup lines.
I like your shoe stings interesting
because prove I don't
Right
You can't
Unless they're not wearing shoes
And it's like bro, you say that everybody
Can you say like I like your hair
Or is that too like?
I don't know
Morgan, physical
It's body
You can if it's different hair
If it's kind of
Same hair as everybody else
You're kind of like what's happening
So your advice to him is
Fake confidence
Yeah
And be okay to fail
Yeah
Like you just gotta go for it
So much of dating
It's just going for it
What about the gym too? Is that okay?
I did mention that.
I know. They have things in their ears. What are you supposed to do?
Wave at them to get them to take them out.
So if you have a gym crush, this is what I've learned.
It's like, and you start to go at the same time, try and find the time they're leaving or going.
Oh, that sounds like stalker.
Yeah.
It's stalker unless she likes you.
And then she's sweet.
I did see that their phone code is when they type it so you can go in later.
Well, I mean, if they're leaving and you're like, okay, I'm going to finish early.
And just try and leave at the same time as them.
So you can talk to them when they're exiting versus when they're working out.
All right, good job, buddy.
You hit the right person.
She's got you.
Let us know how that goes.
And be prepared to fail a whole, whole, whole bunch.
That's the name of the game when you're a dude.
Make it till you make it.
You got a cold call.
All right, play me number one, Ramundo.
I have a question for the room.
Is it okay for a man to walk around like a subdivision with his shirt off?
We moved from the country to a subdivision recently.
And my husband, he will just walk outside, like without a shirt on and no shoes.
And I'm wondering if it's okay.
I've never really thought about it, but I feel like people nowadays, they want to complain about everything.
So I'm just waiting for, like, someone to say something to him.
What are your thoughts?
Well, unfairly, guys can have their shirts off pretty much everywhere.
Unless you're a restaurant.
He's outside.
Who cares?
He has a shirt off.
I guess there's a lot of butt crack showing, but then that's just embarrassing.
That's not, like, illegal or anything.
Your pants are low.
Yeah, you can have your shirt off.
And then you can not wear shoes, but outside.
it's fine.
But is he staying in the vicinity of his home?
Or he's like, or, I mean,
I think walking around the subdivision.
Even if you're like just running, running,
who cares?
Yeah, it's unfair.
But dudes can go shirtless and shoeless and it's no problem unless there's food around.
I wouldn't have them walk in like the main office shirtless or shoeless.
But nobody's going to say anything.
Heck, you do it too.
Oh.
That's not going to go over.
You don't think so?
That's good.
All right.
Thank you for your voicemails.
You can reach out to us anytime.
877.
77, Bobby.
If you're new to the show, I am 44, I don't how many kids.
My wife's not pregnant now.
We're definitely going to have kids at some point, but I didn't even get married until I was about 40.
I was never in a really serious relationship until way later in my life.
And so, sure, a little behind what the general public is age-wise on the kids.
I think I dedicated all things to my career, definitely a little ahead there, but a little behind in the other part.
And just talking with my wife, it's like, man, if we were going to have two kids, if that's what we decided, I just want to have twins and get it over with.
And she's like, well, that's easy for you to say.
Right.
She's got to carry them.
Right, right.
And then she's like, you think it'll be so easy.
And I'm like, well, if we're going to have two, I'd just like to get it over with and have two twins, dedicate all of it right there.
And she thinks that I'm just kind of saying words.
I don't really know what I want.
We'll see.
But I read this story about this woman who lives in Texas and she gave birth to identical quadruplets.
See, if you want four kids, that's perfect.
All the once.
Sometimes they may be just going for one or two and they end up with four.
Let's go, even better.
If you want four, I mean, if you want a one and you have four, that's a problem.
Dude, that's crazy.
A woman in Texas beat the one in 15 million odds of conceiving identical quadruplets naturally.
Oh, naturally.
Wow, wow, wow.
Mercedes and Jonathan Sandu will now be adding four girls to their home.
Now they already have two kids.
Four girls!
They were just trying to have another kid and they had four.
I mean, one in 15 million?
chance of that.
That's crazy.
That's crazy.
And it does seem like everybody's going to be okay.
When you have that many kids, they often come out undersized a bit because, you know, there's no room.
Premature.
Yeah.
As I say undersized.
I watch too much NFL draft.
You know, the babies are coming out undersized, Chuck.
But yeah, if you wanted like four.
And I don't know what I'm talking about, but I say that a lot.
I also wish that I could be pregnant.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, you do want, you maybe could try to breastfeed.
I don't think I have any milk in me.
No, you don't know that until it happens.
It's made, dude.
Sometimes men can produce milk.
It has happened.
Let me rephrase what I said.
I'm jealous.
I don't get to be pregnant.
I don't know that I wish I could be pregnant.
I think you said you wish you could be pregnant.
I know, but I'm rephrasing that because I feel like there's a whole time where, like,
the mom gets to bond with the baby, and there's like a nine-month head start.
And then eating for two sounds cool.
Because they always say, like, I'm eating for two.
Yeah, me and the baby
Even if they're just like hungry
But again, I have no idea
So I just say crap at this point about that
Yeah, yeah, I definitely just say a bunch crap
And I mean, even me as a woman
Who I wasn't ever able to get pregnant
So I also have no idea
And I'm a woman, I can't imagine
You are a woman
Yes, I am
You are, I am
You'll be a woman soon
Oh man, that's weird
But I feel you on that
I wish I could have experienced it too
A 32 year old was masquerading
As a troubled high schooler
Why?
32.
So Shelby Hewitt was able to pull off the impressive masquerade as a high school student.
This is from Daily Mail.
While also holding her job as a social worker, 32 years old, she was able to pass herself off as a 13-year-old named Ellie Baker.
She got herself into three schools, a treatment center and was able to trick her therapist and trick her therapist partner into becoming our foster parents.
Motives as to why she did this still unclear.
It wasn't for like, I'm going to go in, infiltrate, learn the same.
system, better the system.
They're not saying that was the motivation.
No, I get it. Sometimes I think
men do this because they want to go back and dominate
sports. Oh, it'll be awesome. Like, I would
love to go and be on the ninth grade football team.
But that would be so obvious. But this is the whole thing.
Like, she was tricking far more than just school.
I know. Like. She was tricking therapists.
Yeah. Foster parents.
Do you think, I'll talk to
us three guys here,
you could go
into a high school on a ninth
grade football or basketball team at your age right now if they thought you were in ninth grade and
dominate football or basketball no i think i think i could be a good role player on the basketball team
what does role player mean i wouldn't be the star okay because ninth grade kids are starting to get good
but i could definitely play defense i pat bev them i'd hustle good passes yeah yeah and then on the
football team i do think that i as a ninth grader i could probably still
be one of the elite players.
You think you'd be as fast as some of them, though?
I think I would be, you know, I'm a little over six foot,
so I think I could catch the ball.
I'd play wide receiver probably.
Of course.
I got my rotator cuts torn, so I wouldn't play quarterback.
So when you say ninth grade, like you're on the JV team,
you dominate the JV?
Different schools have different things.
Sometimes it's just a ninth grade team.
Sometimes ninth graders, if they're really good,
they play with the senior high if they can play as a 12th grader,
you have four years of high school eligibility.
So it's just ninth grade team.
I think I could be an all-state ninth grader.
in sports.
Try it out.
Hey, you too much access
should go play with ninth graders.
Doesn't sound like a good show to me.
I want to stay away from that.
But then if you make a good play,
you're going to like,
oh, yeah, you're like, Joe Montana.
They don't know.
Oh, that's a good point.
Old records is.
Walter Payton.
They don't know I'm not a ninth grader though, right?
So I'll be like,
because I saw a documentary on it.
I don't know.
When I'm making my references,
Steve Young, left-handed quarterback.
I can go do that.
A lady lives in an underground bunker,
but it is not an apocalyptic type thing.
She pays $500 for this bunker in the back of her friend's house.
So it's kind of like a garage apartment to her.
But I was thinking if I could have one amenity added to my house.
It doesn't matter.
Money's no object,
but it can't be like a rocket ship,
like something somebody could actually come and build, right?
I would like to have a full court gym,
but instead I would like to have like a bomb shelter slash safe room
that I could just push a button and a boot when it shuts behind you
and you have all the stuff in there.
For what?
And like you open it up and there's all your guns and knives and stuff.
Yeah.
for just in case.
Oh, I got it for tornadoes and stuff?
Tornadoes, robbers, apocalypse.
Okay.
I knew it.
That would be awesome.
What would you add?
I think we've talked about this a little bit.
Oh, yes.
I want a full like hair salon, but someone has to come with it.
Someone stays here the whole time.
I need someone to like, if someone could wash and do my hair every day, that would be amazing.
Coming up in like 20 minutes, maybe 25 minutes or so.
Eddie and I finished our song.
We did it yesterday.
We had this listener named Amy who called us from Tal.
Because we're talking about this site called Song Finch where you tell them your story and they write a song about it.
And I was like, Eddie and I could do this.
So easy.
So we just said a caller, get on the phone.
And so Amy and Tallahassee called.
And this is the information she gave us.
Her husband's Damien.
He's 580.
He claims to be taller.
He drives an F-150 with a two-inch lift.
He's a fourman diesel mechanic.
They have three boys.
He's a great husband.
She met when she was eight.
He was 12.
They met at a skating rink.
He's her soulmate, both are from Florida.
Rumored by Lee Bryce's favorite song.
We took all those.
We made a song.
We wrote a song.
Can't wait.
And we didn't listen to any of the other ones
because we don't want to be inspired
and like, well, we don't want to steal.
Oh, we have our own style too.
Yeah, we have our own style.
So we'll do that in like 20 minutes.
We'll get her on the phone.
She's not heard it yet.
So it would be her.
We should do it like an I-Heart world premiere.
Oh, we should.
Put that stinger in the front.
Yeah.
Could you find that?
I got it.
The one with a deep voice?
I heart.
Now it's time.
So do you just play that and it makes it a world premiere?
I think so, yeah.
You just say.
It's a world from this.
That's Shea from Dan and Shea.
Does the song have a title?
Yeah, you maybe.
You may be?
Won't tell you anything else about it right now.
You can have opinions.
You can have like a strong stance.
And then there's your body having its own program.
I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans,
a show about who we are and who we become.
when life makes other plans.
We share stories and scientific insights
to help us all better navigate
these periods of turbulence and transformation.
There is one finding that is consistent,
and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships.
I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change.
We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.
Listen to a slight change of plans on the I-Heart Radio,
app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany
the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money.
What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people
when they're no longer here?
We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with
the mindset shifts.
Too many of us were never, ever taught.
Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich.
That's great.
It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself
and leave a strong financial legacy for your family.
If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money,
this conversation is for you to hear more.

I'm Daniel Jeremiah.
And I'm Greg Rosenthal.
And this is 40s and free agents.
The games may be over, but the NFL never stopped.
This is my favorite part of the calendar.
Yeah, mine too, Greg, free agency, the combine, the NFL draft, Pro Days, trades.
This is where teams reshape their future.
This is where Daniel Jeremiah makes his money.
On 40s and free agents, we break down every move that actually matters.
From my draft evaluations, mock drafts, and team fits.
to my top 101 free agents and how real rosters are built,
cap space, contracts, and all the tough decisions included.
You got quarterbacks on the move.
We got teams rebuilding.
It's hope season.
Yeah, absolutely.
It's hope season.
We'll tell you what's real, what's noise, and what it means for your favorite team.
Smart analysis, real conversations every week.
I'm not about the smart, but definitely analysis.
Listen to 40s and free agents on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, let's get over to the news.
Bobby's big.
Stories.
A woman was convicted of stealing $60,000 in goods from a Target with a self-checkout scam.
One of the reasons are eliminating self-checkouts.
60 grand, that's a lot of...
Ruining it for us all.
I know.
A woman in San Francisco was convicted of stealing more than $60,000 worth of merch.
She pretended to pay for the items.
She stole from Target dozens of times between...
October 3rd and November 16th, she would take the items off the shelves to the self-checkout,
scan every item, insert a small amount of money and leave.
They surveilled her.
She left the store with goods she didn't buy.
She was seen selling the stolen goods.
She was arrested.
She faces up to three years in prison.
I wonder if she would scan them and she didn't pay fully for it.
Wouldn't something go off like you didn't pay?
Yeah.
Yeah, there had to be some stuff she wasn't scanning.
Unless she would scan and then go, never mind and unscan it.
Can you unscan?
When I worked at Hobby Lobby, we had to do it ourselves.
As a matter of fact, most of the things people would get would be like different shapes and sizes.
So I'd have to like look up it in the book.
All right, we got two pounds of cotton balls.
God dang.
So I have to type in the number.
The book.
Yeah, the book because you had to like weigh things.
It's so stupid.
But yeah, she got caught.
Eventually you're going to get caught if you keep doing something like this, though.
Was you going to the same target?
That entire time.
She's gone from Target.
It doesn't say Targets.
And all those things have cameras in it.
Like, you can see them.
You know what's good?
Because I have the app.
The Target app's good.
I have the Target app.
I have the...
Circle?
Yes, the new program.
I had a scale delivered to the house
at 9 o'clock last night.
A scale?
Oh, no.
My little broke.
But why did you need it at 9 o'clock last night?
Because I've been trying to get it for two days, and I kept forgetting.
And then I ordered it.
And I was like, well, I can have it come tomorrow while I'm doing the show.
Maybe they can't drop it off.
Nobody's there.
So I just order it while I'm here.
I thought you needed to know what something weighed.
No, no, me, me, me.
Hey, you broke your scale?
No, honestly, I think the battery just died in the other one,
and I don't have that little tiny screwdriver to get that little thing off to put a new battery in.
Dude, I got a screwdriver.
No, I know.
I think that's what happened, but it would have working anymore.
And so I got a new, so now we have two.
And we'll probably get the other one, batteryed.
According to research, 38% of Americans say they have never felt more uninspired at work than they do now.
This is from SWNS Digital.
me your thoughts?
I wonder what's causing such a disconnect.
Your personal thoughts?
I don't know that I feel uninspired.
I don't think you're unspired.
Yeah.
I think there have been times I have been, but I'm not currently, so that's good.
Good for you.
More than a third of Americans have never felt more uninspired.
A survey of 2,000 employed Americans found that this lull was translating to their productivity.
And so usually if they're uninspired, they just somewhat are productive.
You have to find a way to ignite the fire again.
Are you talking about relationship?
Are you talking about...
In anything?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, how do you feel?
Inspired or uninspired?
I'm always inspired.
Always.
You've never had a low...
No, I'll burn out sometimes, but I'm never uninspired.
Like, he always comes up with new things to do, so you're always inspired.
Yeah.
The complaint that my wife will have with me sometimes is, I don't just have hobbies.
I have hobbies that I love so much.
I'm like, man, I could turn this into something, and I could actually...
Yeah.
make some money doing it at a high level.
You're over-inspired.
Yeah, my therapist was like, okay, look, you're afraid of being in poverty again.
And that's why you do this.
And I'm like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
If you loved it, you just do it for fun.
But you're afraid of being poor again.
So therefore you're trying to create all these little outlets so you're never poor.
He goes, you know what?
You're good, buddy.
And I'm like, yeah, you say that until I don't pay you.
Wait until you get the old decline.
I do think that we probably benefit from you being that way a little bit.
we're not going to take it to your level.
Maybe we have healthier boundaries with it.
You should have throw that in there.
But I think that like when you're around inspiring people or people that are inspired with ideas,
like it generates within you.
And when you're around people that maybe aren't.
So take a look at like who you're surrounding yourself with.
You are your environment, not even for just work.
So you're saying we inspire you?
Absolutely.
I've never been more inspired right now to move the next segment.
I'm sure we do in some ways.
Absolutely.
Zoo goers
Our outrage to discover the panda exhibit
Was actually dogs died black and white
No
Stop
See? Stop
This is not
How?
This from the New York Post
They were baby pandas
A zoo sparked
Controversity after they addressed dogs as pandas
Because they didn't have the genuine artifact
As seen in the viral photos
That's hilarious
Hey can't you just see them like scrambling
Hey we need pandas
Anything get your dog
Why is that panda sitting
When I say yeah that's tough
I just feel bad for the pandas
It would be at the zoo
If they were
But they were
They were dogs
So I can't feel bad for imaginary pandas
But they do look like
These dogs do look like pandas
Because they're all fluffy
And so they dyed them like they died like they're
Because dogs have two arms and two legs
Not four legs
Because they don't have
They don't have Acels
No no no those aren't arms
Because they would stand up
They were arms
We had arms when we walked on all fours
They were arms
They weren't four legs
Oh yeah
Got me
So but they painted like
It's like heads white, there's a stripe black, torso's white, buts black.
They look like little pandas.
My sister, she has like a little picanese and she shaved his hair to look like a lion.
It was amazing.
It looks just like a lion, but it was a piquine.
But does she charge and say, come to see the lion?
No, she didn't do that.
A man tried to shoot a pastor during a church service, but his gun wouldn't fire.
Oh, thank goodness.
A man who tried to shoot the pastor during the service at a Pennsylvania church because God told him to do it was stopped when his gun didn't fire.
Bernard J. Polite, 26 years old,
entered the church after 1 p.m. walked toward the front
where the Reverend was given a sermon.
W.T.A.E. TV in Pittsburgh with the story.
And so he pulled his gun, made eye contact,
and then the pastor ducked out of the way.
Somebody tackled the guy.
Polite, that's his name, the bad guy.
He was not known at the church.
He wandered over to the church after hearing music coming from there.
I have some sort of episode or effect of something chemically on him.
if I'm just speculating.
How your home smells is important.
43% of Americans say that the best compliment they can get about their house is your home smells so good.
What's the best compliment you can get if someone comes to your house?
I mean, the smell one's pretty nice.
Because, oh, my dog sometimes just ruins everything.
The smell, the dogs do?
Yeah.
I was going to be dogs.
The best compliment is, wow, your dogs are so much better behaved than the last time.
They didn't jump all over me.
We've never got that compliment, but it would be nice to get it.
Yeah, you?
I was going to say that about my kids.
like sometimes sometimes they're like wow your walls are really clean for having four boys
clean walls that's interesting lunchbox oh man look at this mansion
do they ever say that though no no i'm saying it would be great if i could get to that point
where what would be the ultimate compliment now if someone came to your house even if you've
never got it but something real um clean how could no it's not but it could be he could clean it up
no probably not um dang you are super famous look at all these awards you've won
Because there are awards everywhere
Yeah, CMAs, ACMs, I put them on display
So people notice
I want someone to say you have good food
That's from Airwick
What do you mean like generally?
Like when my kids are there
And they're friends
Like I want to be the house with like
The fun food
Probably because they tell me
I don't have good food
And dad
Because you care about health
Dad's house has good food
So no
No it's not about that
I have fun food
Like I have all
Oh boy here we go
I'm a cool mom
Yeah
Oh boy
I have food.
She gets his tone.
I do.
What's your fun food?
Gluten free, avocado toast.
Dark chocolate.
Go ahead.
Lucky charms?
You do not have lucky charms.
Yes, I do.
I'll send a pick.
Why would you just give that to a kid that came over to the house?
Do you have some lucky charms?
No, anybody.
Like I just, I like organizing my fratage in my pantry and it looking fun.
Fun.
I want to have fun food.
Okay.
Because that's where the kids want to hang.
Finally.
No, they don't.
Fox News.
luxurious bubble submarine is set to take passengers into the depths of the sea.
I will pass.
Yeah.
But you did say the other day that like, we don't know what's down there.
That's why I will pass.
And also the pressure.
Yeah.
And I think about that one, the guy had made the boat himself.
The Titanic one.
Yeah, I went down.
But Triton submarines has redefined luxury travel.
It is not your typical submarine.
It's stretched a bubble.
That's the shape of it.
Panoramic view.
There's a cocktail bar.
Nice.
There's a little casino.
What?
There's leather, there's mood.
It's like a cruise, but a submarine.
Yeah.
Hey, have you guys ever been on a submarine?
No.
I never been on a cruise or submarine.
Yeah, submarine would be cool.
I get so motion sick.
I mean, I look at water and I get motion sick.
Like seasick.
Yeah.
Like sometimes when I'm peeing, I just look down.
I'm like, oh.
On the toilet water?
Just water, man.
It'll do it.
Fox News has that story.
This thing weighs 25,000 pounds.
It can go down for 12 hours.
It can accommodate eight adults.
You're telling me fully maxed out eight adults.
adults and has a casino in there.
Right.
So it's got to be like one table.
It's like one slot machine.
One guy.
All right.
That's the news go.
Bobby's big.
Stories.
Give me like a C.
Give me a D.
Okay.
I think we're about ready.
You want a G?
Give me a G.
Gee.
Let's bring on Amy and Tallahassee.
Hi, Amy and Tallahassee.
Welcome back to the show, Amy and Tallahassee.
Hi.
Hi.
So here's a lot of the show.
the information Amy gave us. She said, her husband is Damien. Which, by the way, Amy, did you tell
Damien you were on the show or did he happen to hear it? No, I literally text him and told him to
turn on the radio and I think you'll know when you hear it. He texts me and said, oh God,
when did you have time to do this? Okay. So Damien's the husband, Damien's five foot eight.
He claims to be taller. He drives an F-150 with a two-inch lift. This is all information she gave us on
the air. He's a foreman diesel mechanic. They have three boys, phenomenal husband.
They met when she was eight and he was 12.
They met at a skating rink.
He's our soulmate, both from Florida and lived there.
Rumor by Lee Bryce is his favorite song.
We had trouble singing it last time.
Sing rumor.
There's a rumor going around about me and you.
Good job, Amy.
That's really good.
Yeah.
So we thought, can we write this song?
And there's this site called Song Finch.
And that's what you do.
You go to the site.
You plug in some stuff.
And then they write a song from like a real person
about your life and you can give it as a gift
or so we wanted to try it.
And so it's called
you may be.
You maybe?
You may be.
You maybe.
One word, you may be.
One word.
The whole thing is you may be.
You may be.
So, Amy, we're going to put you on hold,
but so turn, if you're listening live
or you're streaming or whatever,
listen through that feed, don't listen through the phone, okay?
Okay, we will.
And there's like a 20 second delay.
That's all fine.
Take the phone, stay on, but don't listen through the phone.
We'll come back after the song.
But I want you to listen through whatever you're listening through.
Okay, we have all this information.
Eddie now are now going to try to put.
Give me a C again.
Here we go.
Here's a C.
But we're going to start here.
Gee?
Yeah.
All right, so Eddie and I have a comedy group called The Raging Idiots, and we tour the country,
and sometimes we sell tickets.
It's mildly entertaining.
Very strange.
And this is us trying to write a song for Amy and Tallahassee.
We just hopped in the office yesterday.
when we wrote it for, we spent like 45 minutes doing this.
This is called, ready?
I'm ready, man.
All right.
It's called, you may be.
Let's go.
It's a world from here.
I knew the first time that I met you, you'd be my soulmate.
Kind of creepy because you were 12 and I was only eight.
The DJ said, let's couple skate, and then he played some TLC.
Now you drive all three boys around and your big F-150.
with a two-inch lift.
You may be, you may be, you may be, you may be, you may be, you may be, you may be.
Five foot eight to the rest of the world, but you're ten feet tall to me.
Working on trucks makes your hands so gritty.
Tallahassee is our city.
You know you're such a wonderful father.
No need to claim that you are taller
You may be, you may be
You may be, you may be
You may be
Five foot eight to the rest of the world
Hey, you may be, you may be
You may be, you may be, you may be, you may be
Five foot eight to the rest of the world
But you're ten feet tall to me
Damien
In case you didn't know
there's a rumor going round
that this song's for you
it's a world from it.
Thank you, boom.
There it is.
That's awesome.
Wow.
Thought.
Is it a hit?
For Damien and Amy,
it is it hit?
No, that's not what I asked.
For all of America.
Is all America relate to that song?
No.
No, they don't.
Mostly Damian and Amy and I think it's really special
and the end is strong.
Yeah, we didn't write that last.
Well, you did.
The way you, you.
We found a way to wrap it in.
Yeah, that was so clever.
There's room going around the songs about you.
And then you're 5'8 to the Rose World, but you're 10 feet tall to me.
Like, yeah.
She likes it.
I like it.
Okay.
Thank you very much.
Can we, that Amy likes it?
Can we be on song finch?
They'd be disappointed, I think, with our voices.
What do you mean?
They do fully, fully produce.
Yeah.
But we just played that live.
I know, but we'd produce it if we did.
What's that word?
You use niche?
This is like a niche.
Is that right?
Yeah, comedy.
Niche comedy.
Comedy.
Comedy.
Okay, Ray, let's see if she's heard it yet.
Amy is the song over where you are?
I listen to it on both ends, yes.
Okay, give us your thoughts.
I love it.
It was incredible.
I cannot agree more with what Amy said, too.
The ending was so strong, and I love the 10-foot-tallest-to-me part.
We thought, you know, we could make a little joke about his height.
Could you said he acts like he's a little bit taller?
But then we could really say it doesn't matter your height.
you're a real hero and you're loved regardless.
That was kind of the idea behind it.
Amy, did you like the hands so gritty?
Tallahassees is our city?
Yes.
We really tried to find Tallahassee.
We were like,
we were like, Malassie.
We were trying to rhyme Pallahassee itself,
which is tough.
And then we're like, let's just put it at the beginning.
And then we'll do the bridge after the first verse.
And we did Tallahassee is our city.
You work on diesel.
Your hands are so gritty.
Something like that.
Yeah, we're just trying to cram this stuff in.
So, you know, I'm pretty proud of it.
Um, hit us up, song Finch.
Maybe not.
That'd be a lot of work.
That's a really cool.
It's a really cool thing they do.
Now, you may be, you may be, you may be, you may be.
You may be, you may be.
You may be.
You may be.
Five foot eight to the rest of the world, but you're ten feet tall to me.
I mean, people could insert their own little things into that.
It'd be like plug and play of like, you know, like, say.
Give us an example.
Okay.
Yeah, come on.
Bobby, you may be, you may be, you may be.
You may be.
six feet tall to the rest of the world,
but you're 10 feet tall.
You're just changed a number.
So it's just always going to be about height?
The joke was like he,
I agree,
thank you, Amy.
Good job, Amy.
I'm just saying you plug in your height.
You're six foot and you want to be six one.
But no, but I am.
That'd be good for Ray.
But when I wear certain shoes, I'm 6'1.
No, I don't.
My driver's license says 6-1.
You never wear high heels.
Yeah, but you're 10 feet tall to Caitlin.
No, I'm not.
No, no.
No.
Okay, Amy, we're actually going to email you this.
We'll email you this song so you can have the file.
Oh my God.
Thank you.
No charge.
What do you mean?
No charge.
I'm in the Christmas spirit.
No charge.
What?
You can't charge.
That was that.
Songfin charges.
That was a service, guys.
This was a gift that was y'all's idea.
That's a good point there too.
I got us.
Amy, we will email you this.
If you'll put her on hold.
I hope you enjoyed our little gift to you.
And thank you for listening.
And I hope you and Damien, you know, keep it.
And I hope it's fun for you guys.
We sure will.
Thank you so much.
Bye, Amy.
Hang on.
Hang on the line.
A couple from New Mexico found a genie lamp in Texas as part of a treasure games contest,
and they won the prize of either $1 million or to get three wishes valued at $1.2 million.
Ooh.
They chose the wishes.
So you get three wishes, total value $1.2 million.
You can't ask for cash.
You can't go out.
I wish for $1.2 million in cash.
Because you could have got the $1 million in cash.
But instead, if you choose the wishes, you got $1.2 million that you can spend on three wishes.
Everybody understand the rules.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
What would you wish for, Amy?
I think I'll just take the million.
Oh, very, very good.
I didn't think about that as asking that.
Okay, Eddie?
Give me the money.
You want the money too?
I want the money.
They chose the wishes.
They donated to charity.
They wanted to buy a motel for renovation,
and they wanted to acquire a new van for travel with their dogs.
Oh, cool.
But could I request for one wish like a candy bar,
for another wish like, I don't know,
Kit Kat, different candy bar.
bar and a third, a car valued at $1.18 million.
Yeah.
I think you could do that.
And then you sell that, but then you got to pay taxes.
But yeah, that's fun, like a treasure hunt.
They found the genie lamp.
I thought it was like a real genie that came out.
That was kind of with the tease.
Yeah, you got me on that.
But then you would be like, I'm an adult man and I know I shouldn't believe in real genies coming out of lamps.
You know?
Speaking of money, I do want to bring Abby in, who is our phone screener and producer.
She does it all around here.
She's a singer.
She's, you do it.
You're just everything.
Abby.
Songwriter?
Yeah, there she is.
What did you think about our song earlier?
I liked it.
It was good, especially because he wrote it really fast.
Thank you.
So a long time ago, a listener called in.
We had talked to her because you got a DM and the listener who said, hey, Abby, we want you to put together a concert, bring it out to California and we'll pay you money.
Yes.
And we talked about it on the show.
Like, was it a scam?
Then we got the listener on.
It turns out not a scam.
So where is the event?
It's at some racetrack out in Northern California?
Yeah, it's in Monterey, California.
Love Monterey.
Love the whole area.
It's so nice there.
Yes.
So it's like a concert in the middle of the circle of the race track?
Yes, because it's like a race the whole weekend.
It's a Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey.
And they reached out to you.
They message me.
And then from because they heard no on the show.
I just wonder why.
My question.
Yeah, yeah.
Maybe they reached out to multiple people on the show.
They may have.
I'm the one that like read it and accepted it and responded.
And what was the question they asked you?
They said my mother-in-law is like the event director at the racetrack and they need someone to headline.
And they were like, we think you'd be a great option to host it and then have someone headline.
And did they give you a dollar amount up front?
Yes, they have a budget of 50,000.
Yeah.
For both acts.
Yes, for both.
For you to play as like the host and the opener.
But they wanted you to find somebody to also be the headliner.
Yes.
And how did that go?
Did you find somebody?
I actually did.
It was hard because it's summer.
and everybody's on festivals and everything,
but we have somebody, a headliner?
So in your heart, you have somebody,
or have you already talked with them?
No, it's real.
Like, it is real.
Like, they already signed a contract.
Oh, what?
It's that far.
So who's divvying at the amount that goes to who?
You or the venue?
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Great question.
I got lots of questions before we get to that one.
That's a good one, though.
This is happening?
You've committed, you've signed the contract?
Yeah.
So you're going to open and host,
and you have, did you reach out to the person
to get them to headline, or did they, or?
I reached out.
You did?
They just kind of gave me the reins.
They were like, you do it.
We trust you.
Like, whatever you.
And when you told them who it was,
were they happy with it?
Yeah, they were.
Okay.
Because I did ask that.
Hey, just to clarify,
Abby is the phone screener of our show.
Abby is more than that.
Abby is...
No, no, I get it,
but she's a phone screener
and now she's a concert promoter.
I would say Abby is far more than a phone screener.
It's just the easiest way to describe it to our listeners.
So I don't want you to minimize her because she does a lot of stuff in the show.
Okay, fine.
She makes copies.
I don't want to sound like lunchbox.
She's not like one spoke right now.
I don't know.
I'm jealous.
You're talking about thousands and thousands of dollars.
And Abby, like, you're not a concert promoter.
You're bo-y.
Nobody is until they do it.
This is crazy.
I was not a comedian until I started telling jokes in the theater.
But you had a bigger shot of being a comedian than eight.
I don't think so.
Okay.
Okay.
Hold on.
Stop the hate.
No, I'm not hated.
It's crazy.
It's crazy.
It's crazy.
Thank you.
Abby, so of the $50,000, how much did you say you were giving the artist?
You got to decide, right?
Yeah, but I kind of went off because we already had talked about this a little bit.
So I kind of went off what you guys thought.
Go ahead.
He gets 30,000.
So he gets 30,000 and you get 20.
This is awesome.
Bizarre.
Abby has hosted things.
I would like to say that she, right.
She has done an event like this similar in Nashville.
So on social media, people might see like, oh, look, Abby, she's hosted this event and she performs.
It's like two for one.
And she has connections?
She can find us an artist.
Like, I get why they've reached.
out to you.
I'm proud of you.
So who's the artist?
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Oh, we need a mill.
Hold on.
We'll get there.
Because I don't know either, but I want to, like, build it up.
I want to go to lunchbox.
How do you feel that Abby's going to make $20,000?
How long are you going to play?
30 minutes.
For 30 minutes and hosting it $20,000.
It's insane.
This venue is absolutely stupid.
I mean, they picked the lowest fruit on the tree, like Eddie said.
She makes copies and answers phones.
And they DM'd her.
That is what you said, Eddie.
It is kind of what you said.
It's shocking.
This is shocking.
This is a big leap.
Like literally she's done nothing on a scale of hosting.
But she just did this all.
She put it all together.
No, no, but she has not hosted anything.
She doesn't have.
Yes, she has.
What?
She hosted that event here in Nashville recently.
She's hosted the Ray Charles, the cabaret thing.
Ray Charles?
Not Ray Stevens.
Ray Stevens?
Yeah. I mean, I am just, I'm dumbfounded.
I am shocked.
I can't believe this real.
This venue should really advance.
who's where they're spending their money and who they're hiring.
We don't even know who the headliner is yet.
But for $20,000 they could get any, I mean, they got a phone screener.
They chose to come to Abby.
No, they got Abby Bone show that.
Also sings.
Yes.
And hosts.
We're talking about it right now.
We're not going to pay to talk about it.
It was a DM.
It was literally a DM in her inbox.
So who did you get to headline the show?
It is George Burge.
That's cool.
Good for you.
You made it happen.
So do you have to book all the.
a flight hotel and whatnot, or is that
they, so you book it out of your money.
Yeah, yeah. Out of your money.
Okay.
Yeah, touring act, it's the guarantee
and then you just figure out how to get there.
Like George will get $30,000
and then George has to get his band there.
It's just, here's your money.
And we'll see you there.
So, and that's what you'll do as well.
I feel like I owe you, though,
like a percentage.
You do not.
Why would you owe us all a percentage?
You owe me more than anybody
because I'm the one that makes you relevant.
Because if it's your show and they wouldn't know
without you.
How much percentage are you wanting to give me?
Let's 10% of what?
The 50?
Of mine.
Oh.
My God.
I tell you what.
I will refuse it and keep it and I'm proud of you.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Thanks.
I have been doing a lot on the back end.
No, no.
You don't, do not feel guilty for having success.
Do not feel guilty for having success because they're jealous.
Whoa.
No one said I'm jealous.
I'm pissed.
I want the audience to know the step of this.
She literally took the giant most biggest leap I've ever seen in the career.
And that's okay.
And if we're offered to you, you would do it too.
Oh, 100%.
Don't you feel like you take it?
I will say, I've never been offered that.
That is crazy.
Right.
In that shocking that she was offered it out of anybody, she gets water for Bobby.
I mean, that's what she does.
When is the show?
June 22nd.
Oh, it's coming up.
Yeah.
Dang.
I think they're about to announce it.
So are you going to, you know, like, some, when select artists come in,
it's like, what did you do with your first big paycheck or your first number one song?
Like, would you buy yourself?
What are you going to get yourself for your first concert promotion gig?
I don't know.
I haven't even thought about it.
Well, like it's so crazy.
There's going to be a press release that says Abby is coming.
It says George is the headliner and then I'm opening it.
And everybody's going to be like, what?
No, the opening act is the opening act hosted by from the Ballybone show, Abby Lee Anderson.
I'm proud of you.
Thank you.
Don't let these guys take you down.
I am.
You did nothing wrong.
You only, you only did.
And George is awesome.
Is this the start?
We'll continue on the post show. We'll continue on a post show.
I've got to go. All right, go, go.
Bobby Bone's show.
Boney of the day.
This story comes to us from Iowa City, Iowa.
A 21-year-old man was wanted for burglary, so he goes to police station and says, hey, here to turn myself in.
The only problem is they go out and search his car and find a bunch of drugs.
Well.
Did he burgled those?
No.
Burgle.
Yeah.
So he burgled, and then he went in and said, I'm here because I burgled.
and they said, we want to search you even more?
Yeah, they search his car, which is in the parking lot,
and that's where they find the drugs.
Yeah, is that what happens?
Like, do you drive there and then what do you do with your car?
I'm surprised they would search the car, though,
because he didn't say all the stuff's in my car.
Well, yeah, but he can't stay in the parking lot.
Like, the car can't sit there while he's in jail.
But, you just, like, pull up and hop out?
Because that's not.
Yeah, or park it down the street?
Do you Uber if you turn yourself in or have to drop you off?
Yeah, I would think one of the two.
Because I never thought of it.
about that part of turning yourself in.
Is it thought out or is it for the moment?
Well, if you're turning yourself in, a lot of times,
celebrities have this number.
They negotiate a turn-in.
Oh, a time.
But I guess, yeah, so I'm sure they're a lawyer takes them.
This guy should have known better.
He should have rode his bike or Uber.
Maybe they were like, hey, this is too easy.
Yeah, something else has got to be up.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm Blunchbox. That's your Bonehead Story of the Day.
In our ever-evolving list of hobbies,
which now I'm on a memorabilia kick,
like sports memorabilia,
sports cards.
I guess I'm kind of back to it.
But that feels like it makes sense for me.
The fact that you want to do Tai Chi,
never put that with you.
Well, it keeps popping up in my feed.
And I'm like, is this, you know, this for me?
Like, I see other people doing it.
We had that story about Willie Nelson being 91 the other day,
and he does martial arts.
What even is Tai Chi?
Because that's not fighting, is it?
It's a type of martial arts.
No, I know that.
It's very sintering, calming.
But it's not fighting.
No, no, no.
It's no, it's just me with my hands and...
Can't you do yoga though?
God.
I don't know.
I don't know.
So you don't know what Tai Chi even is.
Yes, I've seen Oprah doing it.
I don't know how to describe it.
I don't know how to describe it to you because I haven't yet done it.
It just keeps popping up and I'm like, is this a sign I should try to take it?
How would you describe Tai Chi then?
Lots of like movements with my arms and legs.
Is that like what a karate kid was doing on the post?
So Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art practice for self-defense and health.
Yeah.
No.
That's what I'm saying.
That's what I said.
I'm not going to fight somebody.
You wouldn't fight somebody even if you're like karate.
No, I don't want to touch and roll around or anything.
But I feel like my version of Tai Chi, the videos I've been seeing, people are just practicing the moves on themselves.
But I don't think you should have your own version of Tai Chi.
I think you should do Tai Chi.
Okay.
Well, I got to go sign up on class.
It's like Taylor's version.
It's like Amy's version.
of the songs.
So it's just one of those things where you're going to do it for a couple weeks or you're never going to do it.
In your opinion.
TBD.
Because if we went with everything in our feeds, I would have like a surgery girdle on today.
I got a surgery girdle in my feed this morning.
A girdle?
Yes.
I think if somebody's pregnant, they have a kid, they wear that girdle.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, you have always wanted to be pregnant.
No, it's not that I wanted to.
It's not that I'm sad I can't be.
Okay.
Well, you wish you could have that bond.
Because there's a lot of bonding with that baby that I don't get to have.
Correct.
Right. Well, I don't know yet. TBD. I just think that it looks good. And I keep seeing stories. Like, I see them doing it, but then we hear stories of people that are involved in martial arts and they live longer.
Please, I encourage you to go do Tai Chi.
Okay.
And get a black belt. Don't stop until you get a black belt.
Okay. I feel like that takes, like, years for people.
I don't know. Sometimes there's like a 90-year-old that I have black belts and I'm like, I can whip that dude's butt. I don't know anything about martial arts.
Yeah, well, I'll keep you posted.
Any new hobbies? Eddie, yours is butterflies.
I mean, I'm still waiting for my milkweed to grow because that's what attracts butterflies.
Got to water it, buddy, with milk.
Again, dude, it rained last night.
We should be good.
No, that's not what the caller said.
You have to water it yourself.
Lunchbox, any new hobbies?
No, I don't have any new hobbies yet, man.
I'm still looking.
Let us know.
Check in with this when you get one.
See you tomorrow.
Bye, everybody.
