This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
It's Financial Literacy Month,
and the podcast, Eating While Broke,
is bringing real conversations about money,
growth, and building your future.
This month, hear from top streamer,
Zoe Spencer, and venture capitalist
Lakeisha Landrum-Pierre,
as they share their journeys from starting out to leveling up.
There's an economic component to communities thriving.
If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities,
they failed. Listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart
Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change
of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans.
I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change.
We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.
You can have opinions.
You can have like a strong stance.
And then there's your body having its own program.
Listen to a slight change of plans on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Ho Bryant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money.
What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to try to.
to pass on wealth to the people
when they're no longer here.
We break down budgeting, financial discipline,
and how to build real wealth,
starting with the mindset shifts.
Too many of us were never, ever taught.
If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money,
this conversation is for you to hear more.
Listen to Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant
from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
It's time for the Bobby Bones post show.
Here's your host, Bobby Bones.
Did you guys see the video of the guy playing soccer
and the lightning ball hits him, White's playing soccer?
He died, man.
Did you see the video?
Yeah, he died.
I thought it was an edit at first,
because you know, like Tom Brady, they'll be like,
watch this, lightning hits them,
and he throws it 10,000 yards.
It's like an effect added.
That's so dumb.
But it looked like that because it was that dynamic.
Are you going to pull it up for you?
Because you could see it.
Oh, man.
And so a soccer player was killed by a bolt of lightning on Saturday.
He's running.
Boom!
It's the third time it's happened in recent history.
The last time was 2004.
A man was struck down by a bolt of lightning.
His name is Septane Rahada, 35,
in the middle of a game between his football boots,
Indonesia squad,
and FC Bang Dung.
He was hit by lightning, collapsed.
It's crazy to see.
Are you watching it?
I'm trying to pull it up for it.
pictures right now.
And normally I don't want to watch people.
And I wouldn't watch it again.
It looks fake.
Come on.
Is the only reason.
He didn't die right then.
I know, but I just...
I know.
It looks like a movie.
Oh, so bad.
I mean, it looks like somebody's taking a flamethrower from the sky and just going...
I mean, I guess there's always been a reason why they clear fields whenever there's a thunderstorm
in the area.
And I don't even know if it was raining or what the forecast was or what the forecast was or
you're watching it?
Yeah.
Oh, oh my gosh.
Tell me that doesn't look like an edit.
I mean, that looks so fake, but I mean, it was just perfectly right on it.
Wow, bam.
And so the question is, was it on him because of him,
or did it just happen to hit that spot?
And he just happened to be in that spot.
Wow.
Happened to be in that spot.
But I don't know that answer.
Because they're like, well, if you're wearing, if there's metal,
because lightning will be attracted to things that are higher.
Yeah, or just you have, I don't know this might be done,
but like a metal rod in his body somewhere?
It's not dumb.
I don't know anything about it,
but I just couldn't believe that that was real
because it looked like such a fake,
like what you would put in a movie that's over the top.
When I worked in the news,
there was a cameraman that was getting weather video
and lightning struck about,
he said about 30 yards away from him,
and he came back and the ends of his fingertips were split.
I mean, that's how close it was.
So it damaged him, it knocked him over,
damaged him, but I mean, he didn't get hit by the lightning.
His fingertips were split.
Yeah, that means the electricity was just in the area that it went through his body and kind of
had to come out somewhere. Arkansas Keith's truck got hit by lightning while he was driving.
It hit the front and it didn't do anything to him, but it made a black streak on the front
of the truck.
Yeah, cars are good because the tires separate you from the ground.
But it hit the metal.
I know, but we had to see, we had to do a whole, we had to do classes on this stuff
because I would operate live trucks in the news.
And so if you drive a live truck under a power line, for example,
and you put that little antenna up and it hits the power line, you're good.
Because of the tires?
Because of the tires.
But as soon as you step out of the truck, have one foot on the truck and one foot on the ground,
that's where it's that.
The ground is the conductor.
That's right.
Wow.
Man, that sucks.
So they say when you're...
Because you just like, get under a trailer, be like, who cares?
Oh, I know.
and think it's never going to hit.
They say, well, like, if you're in that situation with the,
where your car is under electricity,
you jump off and hop.
So you separate yourself from the ground, hop and land,
and then shuffle away.
I thought that's what you do if a bear catches you.
What do you do if a bear catches you?
I forget every time.
You probably cry.
I'll forget.
Don't eat me.
They move so fast, but yet look so slow.
Like, you're like, I can get away from this bear.
This thing's huge.
But they're just like, whoa.
like they it's crazy and they climb trees yeah bears are amazing bears are awesome i know but yeah i saw
that this morning or late last night i last night i was going to do one of those breaks because i
hadn't done them in a week and a half but then i hit three helmets in one break those signed 49ers
helmets so i thought you were done though i was and i was up late and ticot knows my weaknesses
so it's feeding me these like crazy and i just was like i'm not wasting anymore not wasting
I'm not spending any more money on it.
Because what am I going to do with this stuff anyway?
So I could not sleep.
And I heard, hey, what's up?
You, over there.
Yeah, what's up?
You like football?
Yeah, I sure do.
I got just a thing for you.
And it was a break.
And I went over to it.
The break was talking to you?
Yeah.
Oh, man.
I think that's you in your head.
I don't know.
Debatable.
TikTok.
TikTok has things.
Amazing powers, Amy.
Wow.
So I got in one and fell asleep.
Don't know if I won.
And now they don't even send you a thing because it's not gambling because everybody who's in wins something.
Can you check your credit card to see if...
You get charged anyway because it's what it takes to go in.
You're right.
So odds are I didn't win, but I fell asleep.
I don't even know.
No, odds are that you probably did win.
No, odds are that I didn't, but if I did win, that would be cool, but odds aren't.
Can we get a one now?
Yes.
They're fun.
They are fun, but we're going to talk to.
What are you going to do with all those jerseys?
I don't know how much it costs to frame them.
I was talking to Kane round yesterday, and he was like, frame them.
And I said, I don't even, like, some of the players, I'm not a fan of.
I don't care.
It'll look super cool, whatever he's had to do with it.
It does look cool.
I have a ton of Arkansas stuff.
That's the stuff that I, like, really, to my heart.
But I don't know.
Maybe we could build, like, a sports studio at the house.
There you go.
Use it as a wall or something with frame.
But I also don't know how much cost to frame those jerseys.
It's not going to be cheap.
Framing things is a lot
Thank you, Amy. See?
I had to call in the next part like the guy from Pond Stars.
She came in and said framing things is a lot.
Thanks, Amy. Thanks, Amy. That's all I needed.
I know because I framed that Arkansas sign for you
and someone told me that it was a lame gift and I'm like,
Hey, not you.
It's literally...
Who said it was a lame gift?
Somebody sent me a message.
It's literally up in my...
Upstairs where my three TVs are, PlayStation,
Sports, Basketball, Arkansas, all that stuff.
It's right. It's literally up there.
I'm going to try to find a break.
I'm only doing it for you guys.
What about the helmets?
Because you put those in a little cute case, the mini ones?
Oh, this is a dude's break.
You're giving to babies.
Oh, this is not.
I can't talk.
Yeah.
Oh.
This is my guys.
Hey, watch out though.
Those guys sometimes.
I'm going to do NFC East because the cowboys are there.
That's what I'm talking about.
Hey, and if we win it, can I have it?
No.
40 bucks.
What are you going to do with it?
I don't know.
Give it to me.
You're addicted.
Oh, yeah.
No, no, no.
There's no doubt about it.
Yeah.
I mean, I came to a realization.
I was either going to be this or crystal myth.
Well, that's good then.
Exactly.
Why don't you know it's a good choice?
Is that how you're justifying it now?
Why aren't more people celebrate?
Here we go.
I don't know.
I'm going to do AFC East as well.
So I'm going to do AFC East and NFC East.
AFC East is too.
Okay.
What's left?
Do you want me to jump in?
Oh, that one's old that.
Okay, I'm finding another one.
Welcome back.
He's like, I just saw you five hours ago.
It's like cheers.
Bobby!
He said hi to you twice.
Yeah, friends.
They sent me a free one once because I...
Okay.
I have, Eddie, I have NFC East.
We're a halfway field in this final...
That's Cowboys, Eagles, Commanders.
Hold on. I have, hold on. I think I get AFC North.
Let me see.
Double check. I'll read the team.
AFC North.
Yeah, hold on a second.
Make sure he counts it.
Just down the AFC West.
I'll explain to me what's happening.
Thank you, dorm, dudes.
Three spots.
Then we're breaking.
Okay.
So what happens is there are like eight.
Eight, yeah, one and eight chance.
They're eight divisions.
So you buy a division.
And if it lands on one of the teams, they pull it out.
If it's on the team that's in your division, you win it.
So, Eddie, I have AFC North.
Read to Amy, who's in that.
So this is the Ravens, the Browns, the Steelers, and the Bengals.
And then I have NFC East.
And that's the Cowboys, the Commanders, the Eagles, and the Giants.
So any of these, and this is a helmet.
A mini helmet or a real?
Real says.
Let's go.
I want one of those.
Is this what they do all day?
Yeah, they make decent money.
They have different shifts.
Oh, okay.
I'll let you know.
No.
Okay, so we got three.
Well, I'm going to turn it down for a minute, and I'll let you know whenever we,
now that I'm on, the microphone, we're probably going to lose.
I'm not that lucky to actually do it in front of you guys.
No, you're not lucky at all.
I'm not saying you're lucky ever.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
get mad when we say that.
A 200-year-old portrait of George Washington has been stolen from an Englewood storage unit.
Englewood.
Police and Englewood are in hot pursuit after a 200-year-old portrait of the nation's first president went missing.
The portrait's been owned by the family for 50 years.
If you turn it in and they find it, you can win two, or when, you can get, you can break 2000.
It's all breaks to me now.
They'll give you like $2,000, but it doesn't say how much things worth.
It's got to be worth a ton.
They give you two grand and then they arrest you?
How does that work?
But if you give a tip, you can remain anonymous and you can earn up to 2000.
KDVR.
One more division?
Let me see.
It's like my serotonin.
This is like endorphins.
We're like, yeah, yeah, stolen George Washington, whatever.
There's three left.
AFC West, AFC South, NFC South.
Nobody ever wants to buy the AFC or NFC South because of the teams are all kind of poo.
Yeah.
At least for now.
CDC drops five-day COVID-19 isolation guideline.
That's a still thing.
I just won't even test no.
I got a cold.
Don't want to test.
But I haven't had a cold in a while, for the record.
But not because of science,
but because the public doesn't listen.
And also, you know, they were having to make up a lot as they went.
And it's understandable.
When something is novel, new,
you make decisions without as much data as you would
if you had years and years and years of being able to study it.
So they're just going,
we're going to make some guesses.
Some of them are going to be right.
Some of them are going to be wrong.
And that's,
Showbiz science, maybe.
But yeah.
It was 10 day for a while.
Remember that?
Yeah.
I was in my room for two weeks.
Eddie didn't even come to work for a month.
A month.
Because I couldn't pass,
I couldn't get a negative test.
I haven't told him.
Stick it up my butt, man.
I don't care.
Stick it up anywhere.
Shout in a couple times.
Appreciate that.
You're walking, buddy.
It's time to you.
Again, just three spots on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
10 days.
And then we thought, but listen,
it killed a bunch of old people.
And there are people that still have some,
like Morgan still got
crazy effects from it. Some people, it is hit and you, oh my God, I can't, you're talking about me the whole time.
I got to keep listening to the show. What do you say? What do you say? I don't know.
There you go. Hey, Bobby, I heard you're the reason you found out about this. I heard you're talking
about it on your show. People are messaging. Oh, that's cool. Okay. Tell them, we're on right now.
Yeah. We're on. I'm sure they're listening to us just like we're listening to them.
Oh, yeah, maybe. Yeah. Right now. Listening. And breaking live.
Lunchbox, let's buy AFC West.
There we go.
I'm not buying it.
Let's go.
Okay, moving on.
A man uses a $20 lottery winning to purchase another ticket and wins $50,000.
I mean, that's your situation, right?
Lunchbox, you'd win a little and just take them and put it back in.
Yeah, absolutely.
You've got to reinvest.
And when you're starting a business, you've got to reinvest all your profits.
That's not really a business, though, because the odds, the odds of winning the lottery are terrible.
The odds of opening a restaurant and working are terrible.
But you can actually affect that by decisions you make.
You can't really affect.
the lottery by decisions you make.
Yeah, everything looks the right numbers.
You don't know the right numbers, though.
You can't make a decision other than luck.
But you don't know the right combination when you open a restaurant, but you hope on luck.
But you do because people have done it successfully for many, many, many years, hundreds of years even.
And so, although it doesn't work every time, good customer service, great food, good location.
Like, that pretty much is the winning formula.
There's variables you can control.
Yeah.
We're in the lottery.
You can't control anything.
Did you say mid roll?
Yeah.
Okay.
Ray said mid roll.
Let me play this.
You can have opinions.
You can have, like,
strong stance, and then there's your body having its own program.

If I'm outside with my parents and they're seeing all these people come up to me for pictures,
it's like, what?
Today now, obviously, it's like 100%.
They believe everything.
But at first, it was just like, you got to go get a real job.
There's an economic component to community striving.
If there's not enough money and entrepreneurs,

Yeah, anyway, moving on.
Movie props from Star Wars could fetch $8 million.
bucks. Iconic
You're talking about? One spot left
NIC South.
Lunch, you want to get in and do it?
I already asked him. He says no.
That's what I said. He won't do it.
You have TikTok?
Then you're going to cut the helmet in half or what?
No, we do. Solomon.
Oh. What's left, bones?
Probably NFC South.
NFC South? Probably.
It's usually the last one to go.
NFC South is it somebody I did see a Tom Brady Buccaneers one comes here
I'll buy I'll buy the NFC South ones I'm gonna buy three of them and then I'm gonna lose every bit
it's been 120 bucks okay done that way we can open it and I can be out of here
what'll be hilarious if NFC South one is and you guys didn't get it that's right
we're on the radio let's go let's go I got it you want to tell I'm these teams in the
nfs south yeah
Read that stuff.
Amy, these
The next four teams are
Buccaneers, Saints, Falcons, and Panthers.
Let's get that Panthers.
Why?
But who would you want to sign it?
Cam.
Cam.
Cam Newton?
I mean, that's possible.
You know what? You could. It's possible.
You know what? We take back
our laugh at you.
Thank you. That was good.
Good say, Amy.
Hey, Bones, let's get that cowboy's how much.
It was awesome.
Can I go look at you?
Yeah.
See this guy's face.
Yeah.
There's a little thing up there.
All right.
Here we go.
Good luck, everybody.
Come on.
Egg plant.
Still,
still,
go.
Come on.
Let's see what we got.
Go,
Cowboys.
In a bag,
white bag.
Opening it from the bag.
Lighting it down,
Steelers.
We've got a Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wait,
that's us.
That's us.
Who?
That's you.
That's you.
Are we shocked?
No.
No, we're not.
So.
Live on radio.
There you go.
Congratulations.
No, his name should be Mr. Lucky.
Live on the radio.
Legit.
Did you record that screen?
No.
Thank you, buddy.
So how many were available?
Eight.
And you bought three of the eight?
Is that going to be the desk?
But it was one of the first two he bought.
The third one he just got to move on.
I got it to go.
So I would have won anyway.
He would have won anyway.
So I mean,
What, Eddie?
Mr. Lucky.
Are you going to put that on the desk?
I know.
I have Oilers one that's pretty cool, Warren Moon.
Oh, yeah.
That is cool.
But also, I don't care about the team.
team's like, I like Arkansas up there. That's my team.
And you like the Cowboys. That's up there. Well, that's just to torture you.
Why? Because it's the signed CD Lamb Cowboys. And I know you want it. And I know Mike D.
wants it. I do want it. Yeah, I know both of you guys want it. That's fun.
See, is that fun? That's fun. I enjoyed it. Yeah.
You didn't think it was how fun? No, it's fun when they call your name and we all scream.
But the waiting is... The waiting is long.
The waiting is not what you pay for, though. The waiting is the hardest part is what I said.
I call it the foreplay. What is that?
Oh, is that what it is for you?
Yeah.
The waiting is the hardest part.
What is that?
No, that's just what I always say.
I've never heard you say it once.
Yeah.
Because the waiting is the hardest part.
It's my buddy Tom Petty.
It's like, um...
See, he knows music.
But do you get nervous ever?
I have no idea what the song is, but I just remember that.
Is that free falling?
No.
There's no like anticipatory anxiety.
Yeah, it's like fun.
It's like the roulette wheel spinning.
Oh.
But much longer.
Because that's, that's...
And the roulette wheel goes by real quick.
And sometimes I fall asleep during the time.
Yeah, but that was pretty decently quick.
All right, boom.
Let's go.
Ramundo, how's the house?
What's happening with the house?
You have neighbors or like the apartment or what?
Yeah.
Well, I mean, we have neighbors.
I mean, the apartment, we were stacked on about 40 different people.
I'm assuming you saw them more than you would now in a house.
Yeah, you wouldn't really think to be the neighbor thing.
But apparently since we're in the country,
neighbors are awesome.
We've already gotten four gifts.
Really?
Yeah.
One couple brought over a pudding pound cake.
Still have that.
Another really nice lady got me like some Valentine's thing.
Sounds like some sexual move.
Hey baby, I know it's Valentine's night.
You want to try the pudding pancake?
I got a Valentine's thing.
It had a whole bunch.
She made about eight different treats
and then it included a little welcome letter.
Did you get a pineapple?
Upside down, though.
No, no, no.
She was older.
And then we got invited to a Super Bowl party
from a different set of neighbors.
They've never even met us before.
And they said, please, come over to our house.
Maybe you don't have cable internet.
and you need a place to watch the game.
That's cool.
And then a military couple said,
hey, we've been watching your wood
on your property and there's been like a suspect.
Watching your wood.
Would you like to do some pudding pound cake?
Again, that's dirty.
They said that there was a suspect trailblazer
at our house.
They'd been in talks with my father-in-law.
And my father-in-law said,
oh, that's just, that's my son-in-law.
That's my suspect son-in-law.
He was like, no, no, no, it's not you.
No, this thing is shade.
This car was beat up.
For sure, riding dirty.
Murdered out windows.
It's not you.
But yeah, people are neighborly nice again.
It's awesome.
That's cool. Well, congratulations. Do you like living in the house? It's like relaxing.
Like...
Well, I've never been more unsettled, but soon, soon.
What do you mean?
Like space.
It's a ton of space. We went from 800 square feet.
I mean, the cat was running into walls and now it just goes for days.
I think that's a cat problem though.
Cat loves it.
I mean, just cats running in walls. That would be tough.
Is there a party? Like a house warming party?
We had one already. We'll definitely have some more.
Oh, we had a great time at it.
Did we get texts on that?
texts on that? Did anybody get invited
from here? It was all my wife's
work friends and... What about...
Husbands work. But there was also kids there.
It wasn't. Yeah, I have kids.
Four of them. Amy's got kids.
Lunchbox has kids. I got three of them,
man. But I've just said it wasn't a ranger.
They could use some land to run on.
Yeah, interesting.
Land to run on. It's like I take my dog.
You got a fence? A couple acres?
All right, we'll be over.
Okay.
One other thing. Amy's cousin
Amy's cousin who's psychic, who's been on the show a bunch of times,
is going to come on and talk about aliens.
Oh, gosh.
We are going to lose all our audience.
If we haven't lost on by me talking about it now.
Yeah, we already talk about aliens.
But I want to talk about and see what she knows.
Okay.
Because apparently she really enjoys it, right?
Yeah, it's like her favorite thing to talk about.
So it came up on a call the other day, and then that's what gave me the idea.
I'm like, well, Bobby loves to talk about aliens, and Amanda loves to talk about aliens,
so they should talk about it together.
Exactly.
you guys are so close-minded.
Yep.
Right.
I sure am.
And what's great is she can say
anything she wants about aliens.
Can't prove her wrong.
So she sounds like a genius.
We can't prove you wrong.
No, but that's what I'm saying.
