Morning studio. Morning. Amy, your birthday is Friday? Yes. Yeah, what's the deal? Well, I think, like, Thursday night, just like a little dinner with girls, and then the weekend, I'm kind of just,

going away to be alone. That is my gift. Like, no kids, no. Literally alone, not a single person. Literally alone. Nobody else. Nobody else. Like literally alone. And I have like, that's when I'm going to do some forest bathing. I'm going to go hiking. I have different activities. This is how people end up on the bonehead. Yeah. They go to somewhere they're not familiar with. They're alone. They're in the woods. They're forest bathing. They're hiking. We need to track you. The helicopter's got to save you. I know. And then I have exercises like from my therapist. I'm going to be doing like, you know, mental, internal breathing. I've got a massage booked.

Like, I'm excited. It's going to be like a little weekend of healing. And how long are you gone? Oh, like less than 48 hours. Okay. And you're going to drop a pen to somebody so they know where you are? Please. Yes.

Yes, every, like, yes, my family's aware. Like, it'll be fine. Why is that weird? You're going hiking somewhere that you haven't ever been alone. I'm going to go. She was trapped 10 hours on the side of a cliff until a helicopter. We've read those stories. I don't know.

Or she'll be like the person that was out lost in the woods, and they tried to call her many times to rescue her, but she didn't recognize the number. She kept deleting it, thinking it was a spam call. Yeah. Like, I could see that happening too. Probably. Well, listen, I feel like maybe some dads out there or moms, they understand this weekend and, you know, the need to maybe just have some time. So I'm thankful that my family was like, okay, yes, this is your gift. Okay, it sounds nice.

You're rooting for you. Yeah, Eddie, you want to go? But I'm worried for you. Okay. So what we're going to do for Amy's birthday here on this show is we're not going to get her a gift. Let's open up the mailbag. You send an email and we read it. on the air. It's something we call Bobby's Mailbag. Yeah. Hello, Bobby Bones. I got an ancestry DNA kit for Christmas and I submitted the test shortly after. The results came back about a month ago. Recently, someone who claims to be my cousin reached out. After lots of digging and piecing things together, my mom finally admitted to having an affair. It turns out the man who raised me is not my biological father. Do I build a connection with the man who is my father or do I just stay mad at him for taking advantage of my mom when she was in a difficult place in her marriage.

If I do choose to build a relationship with him now, how do I do so without hurting the man who has poured so much love and time into being my dad? I know he'll always be my dad and don't want to hurt him, but also when I get to know the other part of my family. I'd really appreciate any advice you have. Sincerely, utterly confused daughter. Oh. I think you said a lot of it here, one of these last things. you said, I want to get to know the other part of my family. All of the other things you can figure out how to manage this relationship, how to talk to.

But the one thing that you have to pursue is this need to get to know the other part of your family. That's the line that sticks out to me. So the answer is yes, you should get to know the other part of your family, even your biological father, if that is a desire that you have within you. your biological father it may be a bit awkward but he's not going to be upset because who wouldn't want to know their biological parents so that's secondary because he loves you and he will understand that because of his love for you i don't know why you write do i be mad at him for taking advantage of my mom when she was at a difficult place in her marriage i don't know what happened there i don't know if he did that i don't don't know if she, I don't know.

I know. When she said that, I was wondering, like, did her mom say, well, this is what happened and I feel like he took advantage of me? Because, like, where would you get that? Because your mom was an adult when it happened and she made that choice. And that's still one side of the story, too. True. Right. So. So you don't need to walk into that with any, harbor any anger towards him. What I would do is I would, any expectation you have, I would shelve it. But what I would do is pursue this desire to know your family. I would almost talk to everybody and formulate my own opinion about what happened, why it happened, if you even care why it happened. It was also so long ago and people are younger and dumber back then, just like you were at one time, just like I was.

Go chase this family, get to know them, and then you can make all the decisions, put all the pieces together however you want. And you'll be extremely happy even if you decide not to pursue a relationship with them long term because you gave it a run. That's how I feel about my biological father I gave it a run. We met up after 30 years. And then when I saw him again a year later, it wasn't so awkward. I also don't hate him now. I mean, he's not my best friend. We don't talk.

But I'm cool. Or I used to really villainize him. He was 17, my biological father was when he bailed. So I also go, at 17-year-olds do really dumb things. So go, ask a lot of questions, get to know a lot of people. You don't have to make a decision right now on the rest of your life.

Talk to people. Learn. Your mom's going to... Yes, it's awkward. Because if your mom cheated, it's awkward. But a lot of life's awkward. Sometimes you've got to push through that uncomfortable stage to get to the really good stuff. So I'm rooting for you. But go after it. You said it in this one line. I also want to get to know the other part of my family. So I'm just going to hang on that one line and tell you that is exactly what you need to do. Report back in a few months.

Hey, because I want to talk about a girl who's gone viral for it. Hey, Mike D, you used to watch these kind of videos, though, right? Yeah. Why? It's kind of interesting to watch. They're called mukbang videos. What? Muckbang.

What? Muck bang. Muck bang. Yeah, it's from South Korea. So the thing is, people go to, like, a restaurant. They get every item on the menu, and then just eat them in front of the camera and review it, and I was into it. Was it the review or the eating? The eating.

I did it when I was trying to get healthy. I would take my healthy food and watch them eat the, unhealthy food and it was kind of like therapeutic for me. So by the way, Mike D's lost over 100 pounds. But while you were going through this transformation, you still needed to get your fix of bad food? Yeah, seeing someone else eat it kind of provided me some joy. So I'm sitting here eating like broccoli and grilled chicken and I feel like I'm eating what

they're eating. Oh, weird. Oh, so the muckbang, you just lived vicariously through them. Exactly. Is that why most people watch these? No, I think some people just like the sounds. Okay. The girl that I'm about to talk about

pretty attractive. Yeah. I wonder if, like, dudes just like her because she's hot. That, and she's eating that kind of food. I mean, she's got every McDonald's item up and this thing that I'm looking at here. So, okay, so she's a YouTube sensation.

She films herself eating. She begins filming at 2 a.m. after work, and she spent 30 hours making creations such as a jelly hairbrush. Like, she makes little things to eat, too, that look like real items. Weird. But she's made a lot of money.

She has 7 million subscribers, but she just started eating on camera. And I just thought about your daughter. And she came to you and said, Mama, I want to eat on camera. Yeah. And in theory, there's nothing wrong with that. True. And there's nothing wrong with the 15-year-old being on YouTube.

True. But when you combine them all, does it feel weird? If people are watching for some sort of like, whatever, the ASMR, like that, they want to hear the... Oh, I don't like that sound. I know. But I mean, some people do. Or like what Mike D was doing fine, but then you run the risk of weirdos watching for whatever other reason.

But wouldn't weirdos be able to watch for any reason whatsoever if she's eating or if she's on talking about movies? Correct. I just think weirdos exist. Yeah, I know. In all forms in every capacity. Right. So I want to play a clip of her eating. Oh, boy.

And let's see what we think about it. Here you go. What's her name, Mike? Because I don't see her name. But when Mike said South Korea, you kind of said, oh, that makes sense, because your daughter's very into that. Oh, she's into anything from South Korea, Japan. She loves anime. She thinks that she was supposed to be born in Japan, actually.

And not Haiti? Correct. Yeah. What's her name? Naomi. Her channel is Honeybee. Oh. That's enough.

I don't like hearing people eat. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, I mean, that noise is so satisfying for people. Now, I do like it when someone power washes, and they're like, watch me power wash this clean. Oh, that looks cool. It's like, there's something about it being fully come. Now that I can subscribe to. Or when they cut things and this perfectly shaped, like that's cool.

I don't like hearing people eat, though, period. And they're eating with their mouth open. And that's the first thing we were taught as kids. Don't eat with your mouth open. Gosh, there's this one girl I saw on, I don't know, TikTok or reels or something. And I can't find her. I need to go back. but I got stuck watching all of her videos one day

because she records herself eating every day but she has a theme every day. Some days it's all green foods or yellow. So you watched all of it? I watched a lot. I don't even know who this girl is. Yes, but... You just act like you didn't like it.

I know. But now you do. But I just thought of this and I would go find her because I thought it was interesting that she had a theme for each day. Like if it was yellow food, she would eat, you know, macaroni and cheese or a banana.

Yeah, or she ate. One day the theme was foods that her mom created. raved when she was pregnant with her. And so her mom told her a list of the food, so she ate that. I just was like, wow, she themes her days. This is fun. Any chance you let your daughter do this?

I don't. What's the chance? You're kind of convincing me. If 10 means she for sure can do it right now, and one means never a chance ever. Where do you put her right now? Okay, two? Oh, that's terrible. Yeah, it's terrible.

I'm saying you're like giving me a little bit, but I don't, what? Listen, I don't know. I guess you're right. Kids do videos on YouTube all the time. It is an innocent thing. I would say readdress, which is 16. Something about 16 feels like it's next stage of... Okay, what number do you give it as the non-parent?

Four and a half. Oh, wow. So you would four and a half let her. Mm-hmm. I wouldn't let her right now. I know, but I mean you're at four and a half. But I'm getting closer to it because nothing gross about eating. There should be anything sexual about eating.

It's for some people to sleep and they're going to be creeps anyway. It's just that she's 15 and that feels just a, just a twinge too young. Wait, way, way, wait, wait. Like, if you can drive a car, you should be able to do ASMR on the internet. That's what I feel like. She's 16. Sometimes when I think about this, which just doesn't help the case as a parent, but way, way, way back in the day, like 14, 15 year olds, they were married. Yeah, but they also didn't have TikTok.

They also had to create as many kids as possible to so they could pull the crops at the farm. I know. Times are different, but it is just weird to think about. I've been with CarShild for years. So I graduate college in May, and I have two job offers. One pays more.

It's a 5K difference in the sign-on bonus, but it's not really in the area that I really like or enjoy. The other job, it pays less, $4 less than the other, and the sign-on bonus is also $5,000 less than the other job. But it's more of what I want to do. So I just need help deciding. You have any advisor tips? Thank you.

Well, I've had to make these decisions. You know, early on in my radio career, I got offered a pretty good job. I was 21, and they were like, hey, come and work in this area. of the country and I hadn't graduated college yet and I was broke and I was struggling. But I decided for me, staying in school and finishing, getting my education because no one of my family had ever graduated college

was very important to me. So I didn't chase the money then. There have been a few instances in between in my last contract negotiation that I had here, which is three and a half years or so ago, there was another service, we'll call it a service that came after me and offered me more money.

And again, it's different because I'm not broke now. but I just have never chased money. Now, there is a difference where if you have to pay bills and you have kids and you've got to pay for, I understand if you have to. But if you don't absolutely have to, I don't think you should ever chase it if it's not life-changing money, meaning $20, $30, $40,000 difference. I just don't think, I think your quality of life is worth more than $5,000 a year.

Because that $5,000, although it is a lot and it's going to, fix a couple things for a second, it's not going to fix things for a long time and you're going to have to be in this job for a long time and your quality of life isn't going to be as good. So I believe that my success comes from not chasing money because when I love what I do, I get better at it. And when I get better at it, the rewards come. When you get really good at your job, you get promoted. You get raises. You're someone they can't replace as easy.

So from the surface, I say do the job that you love. make a little less money because in the end, that investment of doing what you love is going to pay off. Maybe not financially, maybe way financially because you love it so much, you get great at it. That's my advice. Amy? Yeah, I totally agree. Quality of life. I mean, but that could be both ways.

Like Bobby was saying, like if you have bills to pay quality of life, that's important too. But like, this was years ago, but when I took this job, I left a job and took a pay cut. but it's worked out for me and it was something that's more fulfilling for me. Like I enjoy this job, I think more. But yeah, you just got to do what's going to make you the happiest. Yeah, it's like a small non-life-changing amount. And I don't say that as somebody who grew up with any money and comes from any sort of financial privilege.

Like I spent until I was 27, 28, you know, almost living paycheck to paycheck, especially the early years when I didn't have enough money at all to pay. and you'd have to, you know, kind of negotiate with yourself, which bills you were going to pay when. So I don't say this to you as somebody who has always been able to avoid this situation. I've lived, I don't anymore. You know, I think we can all be honest about that. But a lot of my life spent trying to figure out how to just have enough money to survive.

And I still sit by quality of life, doing what you love is better. Because if your goal is money, I'll say it one more time. If you do what you love, you're going to work harder at it. and you're going to get better at it, and the money is going to come that way. It's an investment. It's not right the second, but I do think that's it. So, Amy, you say take the job for a little less money. Yes.

I say take the job for a little less money. Launchbox? I say, take the money. Money is what makes the world go round. You can always use more money. You can always get a different job. Listen, you can go back. Well, if you take a signing bonus, there's always some sort of, you must sign and stay for a certain amount of time or you pay the signing bonus back.

Okay. I've never had a signing bonus, but that's what I hear. They don't just give those away and then someone can leave immediately. Right. But if you want to go on vacation, guess what? You're going to wish you had that extra money. If you want to go buy a new car... Vacation is two weeks.

A year of life is the other, you know, 50-plus weeks. 50 weeks, yeah. I can't hear you with my extra money over here. It's clogging my ears. Oh, it's in your ears. Sorry. Thank you for the voicemail. That's how we feel about it.

turned 16, she makes them get a job and start paying rent. She saves it. And then when they choose to leave, she gives it all back so they have a little nest egg to start their new life. So it's teaching them responsibility, how the real life's going to be. I'm assuming that rent is not super expensive. Every year, though, she takes it up a little bit. Yeah. Keeps a little interest.

Because that's reality, too. That is reality. The longer you stay at a place, they keep raising the rent on you until you move out. You know, I don't hate it. I don't know their entire living situation, but I don't hate it. I'm assuming that the kids can afford rent. And if they have little money when they're done, that's good too. Yeah, I feel like it teaches a lot of responsibility,

but obviously a lot of parents are hating on her doing that. But if you pay rent, then you have rights. Ooh. Yeah. Like what? Like no bed time? Well, no, it's rent for like, this has got to be fixed. Things can be broken.

You probably... Oh, she's now your landlord. Well, if you're paying, yes. If you're paying rent, absolutely. Yeah. The room needs to be clean. Now I just buy me. I pay rent.

All right, what else? So, ice cream that tastes like craft macaroni and cheese. It came out last summer and sold out in an hour. But I have a lot. news. Didn't we try that on this show? Nobody tried the macaro? I think we couldn't get it. Couldn't get it? Sold out. But there's more now and you can get it at

ice cream places when I was over in California and I was like, this is so disgusting. I'm going to try this. so I can go back and talk about it on the show, how I vomited all day long. And I had it, and it was actually really good. I didn't want it to be good. I didn't think it was going to be good, but it was actually pretty good.

I just can't see how pizza ice cream is going to be good, though. Macaroni and cheese, I can see how that would maybe be like cream cheesy-ish flavor. But pizza? Did you see that woman? She's 102. She said she lives off of tequila, Yeagerbaum, and Pizza. I saw her say that was the secret to her life. And family time.

So she was the one that did all the things on 911, and they said, most adults don't even stay calm. I wouldn't have been able to stay calm. Yeah. Like, good for her. I'd have been going out of my mind. But that she handled it smooth as better. Eight years old, second grade?

Yeah. Just about, and so she's getting an award. And so it's cool that the town is honoring her because that's something super special. And it also is a teaching moment for other kids in her classroom at her school to see what she did because that probably doesn't happen to a lot of kids,
