Bob was right in the middle of Dane's rise to fame when this all happened in the mid 2000's. He knew Dane's brother and didn't trust him from the start. Bob was around the family, including the cousin who became an FBI informant to help Dane bring down his brother Darryl. Bobby was there for so many events in this doc and knows the dramatic conclusion to this sadly fascinating tale. He's shuffering you around like that. That would have been so I know this feeling because this is a real like, you're like, did you go

out of your way to make sure I'm not mad? Yeah, Howard's Stern Borderline when he goes and did any other comics do this with you? He goes, no. I did it alone. You were right there. Me and Keith Robinson only. And some white driver.

He came withdrawals of $50,000. Okay. wires of a hundred thousand dollars i was starting to feel something that i couldn't really identify was he hiding it in different places stockpiling this money darrow's traveling across the country my pursuit would be to put his brother in jail i'll del bang why are you doing this to me swung the door who's that that's dane that's dane that's dane calling his brother to leave messages no that's dane playing messages yeah playing messages he taught one from his brother wait wait it's for it's That's him saying.

It's from the brother. Is that Dane talking on the message or is it the brother talking? I think it's his brother calling Dane. Because he's saying, why would you do this to me? Yeah, these are old messages. Why would he say why would you do this to me? This is evidence that he saved because once he knew, I think, something was going, everything was evidence. But you know what I'm saying?

Listen to the context to what the guy on the phone is saying. I think Dane called the FBI. Here's what happened. And that's what it is. It's like, why are you doing this to him? Here's what happened. His brother. did his merch.

Thank God save me watching this documentary. Bobby, please. When he was doing colleges, he had, you know, huge in colleges. But those are still only, you know, 3,000, 5,000 people at a college that would show up. And they would actually sell tickets to Dane shows. Students would get a discount, but other people can go. But he had the merch line was always Dane's thing. Dane's merch line was longer than the show.

So his brother would show up with all his merch and set up the table and take up. and take the money and do all the stuff. And then, when Dane popped after that, like after Torgasm was, we were doing colleges. It was just College Dane, right? He popped after that. He was still doing his merch stuff

and taking care of his money. Still taking care of his money. So his money went from thousands, right, which is a lot, to millions, very fast. And his brother was getting paid. He had a job. He got a commission for merch. something right brother was getting paid a certain amount every year and i i believe same thing you

were getting paid this is what i'm worth it um his brother was getting paid a certain amount and then he asked for more money and dain had said no and then dane because he's making millions now went from you know college money merch money to millions uh you know his management like dude you can't have your brother handle this anymore. There's companies. Like you have a money management company. So he had called his brother and said, hey man, I'm going to move this company.

You're still going to get paid the same. But you're just going to do what you do, but you're not taking care of the money. I got to go with this company because I'm making too much money. I'm making movies and all this stuff. And his brother was like, no. And he's like, what are you talking? What do you mean no? He's like,

those people will rob you. they're this they're criminals they're shady i've looked into them blah blah blah and his brother was like i we're going to have a meeting this week and i remember dane's screaming just screaming and yelling he came back down he's like he was mad that his brother was telling him what to do because i heard him go i'm the fucking boss you don't fucking tell him you don't set up a meeting for me i set the fucking meetings up dame said that dame was mad that his brother just set up a meeting and said no and it's like, dude, what the fuck? He goes, I'm coming out there next week,

and we're going to have a meeting. I have all the stuff. I want to prove to these guys. Like, he had evidence, right? And Dane was like, fuck you. You don't, I'm the boss type shit. And he came down. He goes, I don't understand it.

He doesn't want to, he's telling me they're criminals. He has all this stuff, and he set up a fucking meeting. Like, he sets meetings up. And that's when I was like, dude, that's some shady shit. Something's up. And I was like, You know, it Bobby blew the case wide open. Well, he stopped, and he was like, what the fuck's going on?

And then he, I don't know, you know, Barry and them and his team at the time, Volkweiss and Barry, they were like, dude, we got to check this out. And then they found out that money was missing. And then they called the FBI right away. And the FBI got involved. But his brother, from that phone call and this thing here, like, what are you doing? As soon as he found out the FBI was involved, he rented a car and drove.

He didn't fly to L.A. He drove, but he made a pit stop in Puerto Rico, where his ex-wife lived. So he went to Puerto Rico, came back up and drove, and then he was driving to L.A. He put a bunch of money in Puerto Rico. Don't know. I mean, you have to, I mean.

Well, I do say something, it sounds like a movie. It's like there was money in fucking spaghetti cans. But he made a bunch. Well, that's, that gets crazy. easier because he made all these stops on the way. So he went to Puerto Rico and then when he's driving, he's stopping, right? So it might be some Shawshank redemption type shit, some cancer. Buried in the fucking desert. So he winds up getting arrested, right? Now his wife is free. And don't forget they have a son, Dane's nephew, which is sad as shit. So they have a cousin, Kevin, who lives in Florida.

I used to go to Florida all the time and his cousin would show up. And he had restaurants. He had these, all these restaurants were popping up. He had, like, one, then he had two. Then, I think he had three. And he would invite me. Dude, come down to the restaurant on me, and I would go. Tell Dan, how good his own restaurant is.

I didn't know this, but it was him and Daryl. It wasn't Dane. It was him and Dary. No, I don't know. I was the joke. No, I know. Yeah, I assume it was like, he was tell Dane, he's a one-part owner of this. So, yeah, well, Kevin, Kevin didn't know.

But it's all with, with, with Dane's money. Kevin didn't know shit. Kevin just thought, okay, Daryl's making money. Dane's making, he's making some of it, so he's investing in these restaurants. And the restaurants were fucking awesome, by the way. They were great like fish restaurants and I would go all the time, hang out with Kevin. And every time I played Florida on the East Coast, was at Palm Beach, Kevin would come to the show and I would go to eat at the restaurant. And so what happened? They found out about the money that he stole for the restaurant was Dane's money. So the FBI got in touch with Kevin and Kevin wore a wire and talked because they thought

the wife was in on it and had more money. So he actually got her on the phone or something like that and started talking and they found out that she did have money. So they found out they had hundreds of thousands of dollars hidden in she froze it in sauce and put it in the freezer, Like stacks of cash in Tupperware, in a sauce, froze it, in the vacuum cleaner, in the wall, hundreds of thousands of dollars. So she wanted to. They found some. Well, Kevin was the informant for Dane to get the wife, too. So she went to prison.

And that's just some chick who was married to the brother. That's not like a family member. No, no, no, no, no. They were family. Like, she was, they were family, man. That was Dane's nephew. That was his brother. We were in Cabo and we're all doing this big tour,

and he took us all to Cabo, and we're sitting there with Darrell. Doing Coke. And, no, no Coke. That was the one where Jamie Massada, Jamie Misada was there, and he got us all. He got us all. Liver spots?

He got us all laugh factory swim trunks. But they weren't swim trunks. They were white boxer shorts with the laugh factory logo on it. So you can see your dicks throw them When you got out of the water? As soon as we got out, you just see our patches. Your fur? Yeah, dude.

We were just like this. You can't wait. You're beavers right above your fucking dumb dicks. It was me, Gary Goldman, and Jay Davis just a bush fat sticking out of a wet long hair. It looks like the drawing of Danny Zuko when he first wakes up in the grease video. But he told me. It's just a hunker coming out of a fucking shag hair. He told me, he was like, dude, you got to have my brother to handle your money, dude.

He does all my money. You should definitely, whatever you're making now, you're making more money. have my brother, he'll take care of your money. He knows how to do it and how to make more money. And I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I remember talking to Gary like, I would never fucking give that guy my money ever. I would never give that.

I just... Why? Because I have that fucking spidey sense about people. You can tell. This guy was a low-down piece of shit from the time you met him. The end of Torgasm, we were supposed to get... We're all splitting up all the merch

because we did the line every night, which was like three to four hours a night. we were supposed to get equal percentage of the merch money and I'm on the bus in Boston last show they came up with some weird check I'm like what the fuck is that Even shirts that said just like Dane Cook or the Superfinger you also get some of that

I felt bad for the nephew.

Why? Send him to jail. No, the kid had no parents. Dude, both parents were in jail, and where is he going? Well, he's going to be a piece of shit anywhere. Uncle Dane. No, he didn't go to Uncle Dane. He should go live with Dane in the hills.

No. Why? He could play with his wife. At the time, they probably could. They might have went to school together. How old was the nephew when this all went down? He was a young kid, man. He was...

Bobby, you probably don't know this, but you got to have no attachments, nothing, that you cannot walk away from just like that if you feel that heat coming around the corner.

So she's blaming him more. She's like, I don't know about that. That's what it sounds like. You got to understand.

Well, I wonder, that was the weird part because he had so much money in the bank, he had just did this massive tour. He did 25 arenas. He did Torgasm. He had HBO. He had his special.

You got to find the picture. You got to find the picture. He has bangs. He had like just good bangs at that point. So he knew in his head, you know, that your math, I know how much money I got paid. I signed the contract. This is what I should have, kind of.

And his brother went into a bank. I don't want to ruin the whole thing. You definitely should see this. But what his brother did at the end in Boston was fucking maniacal. Really? He told me they had video of it on the street. And if that's in the thing, it's maniacal. Well, I imagine he was just completely, like, losing his mind just in some sort of

survival mode of like how do I sustain but the stuff they found how long did he go to jail after like storage units full of stuff he had businesses full of stuff it was crazy what they found 10 years six five years five years that's how long the wife too uh I think she did two or three not as long wow hmm that's and they didn't recover all the money well you got you got to watch the documentary I don't want to ruin but I mean dude yeah they recover some of it but yeah he had a liquidate stuff they he bought stuff you know what I mean yeah yeah yeah yeah was fucking outrageous like cars and I mean that with those restaurants there's all kinds of business all kinds of stuff he bought and Dane I guess gets at least all the

money they recoup but yeah but it's like you think you you know Dane look at Dane is he lived at that time he's got to pay taxes on your stolen money being returned that would suck he he he still had a one-bedroom apartment in Hollywood. Who? Dane. When this happened? Yes. I thought this was, like, at his pretty big height. No, dude, this was when he had a one, he had a, look.

So tell me what's the space, this is vicious circle? This is, uh, yeah, this is, this is after, um, tourgasm, vicious circle, yep. And then he did that tour. Okay. And I believe that's the timeline, but he was still living, like, look, his apartment was sick. It was like a old building like, you know, almost like a castle or a mansion

and they divvied it up into apartments and his apartment was sick. But it was a one bedroom. He wasn't paying a crazy amount. Wait, 2008? He was arrested in 2008. He was arrested, but it went on. It went on. It was on for a little bit. Yeah.

Damn, man. And, yeah, play this. This is crazy. The police officers, they believe that you were communicating with Darrell with coded messages. There were bricks of hundreds And all the spaghetti sauce And the pasta sauce

because, you know, Dane, I guess Dane had, I mean, Al had really fucked up, like, shredded mini-wheat teeth. Nice. And then he, I was hanging out with Dan for a long time. Him and Al were, didn't talk. Al got back into his life. And then within six months,

Dane was like, dude, you need new teeth. And Al just went, all right. And he, fuck, 50 grand just gave him new teeth. But I, at that time, I was in shape. My teeth are great. I didn't need it. Maybe I could have got hair. I should have got something.

Yeah. You know what I mean? You got a dink wig. I could have got it. He bought you guys all wigs to look like him. I could have. Here's some wispy fucking Dane Cook hair. Good.

From the whole thing. There was a good part of him somewhere that I grew up with. I do believe that there's money out there. I believe there's people that know more. Where is he? What has he done? How does this end? Well, maybe he doesn't know where he's at.

Maybe when he got out. There's still some more, I think. No? Well, you want to hear my philosophy of it. So here you got this kid, worked in a pizza shop, did a couple plays. You're the older brother. You're the guy working. You're the motherfucker, right?

All of a sudden, you know, this is weird. Fame is weird. All of a sudden, your brother is doing colleges, and there's thousands of dollars coming in. And your brother's like, dude, help me, bro. The older brother was a performer, too. No, the older brother worked at Burger King. You know, he's in his act. But his older brother was his older brother had a job.

He was a responsible one. And Dane was, you know, just a kid. But Dane became famous so, like, really abruptly once he moved to New York. He took his brother. He's like, dude, quit your fucking job. Get out of there. And was like, I want you to come work for me. And he did.

He took him out of his job, be my guy. Take care of my money. Do my merch. Take care of the money. A lot of it's cash back then, right? And then as he progressed very fast, his brother made more money, more money. But he's also seeing what he's making, right? Which is good money.

A couple hundred thousand, something like that, right? Which is good money. And then you see how much you're pulling in. Millions is coming in. And you're dealing with it, right? and you're not getting a you're not getting a you're not getting you're not going up with that right you help so in your brain you probably help this kid when he was making you know thousands now he's making millions in your brain and all that cash is coming in all that money and you can control it one thing you get one

resentment hold on to it another one another one and then you ask for money and you get a no you know what are you going to do yeah i i i actually turned around and I'm completely on your side. Dane Cook asked for this and he deserved what he got. I'm just saying that his brother probably felt slighted in some way to where there's no because they were close, man. They were fucking close. Yeah, dude, money talks, dude.

Dane, his mother, his father, his sister, his family, Dane loved his family. I mean, it's all he had. Loved his mom and his mom, don't forget, his mom and dad both died at this time. He lost his mother, his father, his mother, and then his brother. Oh, it was money. The only thing he had left was his younger sister. Oh, I think he has an older sister too, but I don't know if they're close. He goes, is his younger sister, and she's a piece of shit.

Damn, dude. I can't catch a break. He, I think that's what kind of happened. You should call him, tell me you thinking about him. Well, dude, if you took a couple, if you took money out, right, like, hey, I'll invest in this restaurant. I'll take it. It will make money. I'll pay it back.

The stuff he bought. Yeah. Just to tie the money up. Dude, wait to see all the stuff Dane Cook owned. It has to get rid of, basically. Yeah. $12 million is an insane amount of money to steal. He's like, I bought the boss.
