Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm Dan Soder and I'm Big J. Ocerson and welcome to the Bond Fire podcast. You can hear our full show every day on SiriusXM. Go to SiriusXM.com slash Bond Fire for a special offer. And now the Bond Fire with Big J. Ocerson and Dan Soder. Thank you to Bennington, our dream of a leading show we get. Yeah. To a very emotional show today, funny when it needed to be, but probably the most sullen Ron Bennington I've ever heard, overall.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Yeah. This is the Bond Fire. And sad news over the weekend, Saturday morning. I woke up to a text that radio comedy legend Fez Wattley Past away this weekend. It was Todd Hillierd. I want to say his name right his last name is Hillierd
Starting point is 00:01:05 But Fez known affectionately of course, his FES, FES Murray, Watley, the also the week that you probably would have seen him. Yeah, that was, I really, it smacked me hard because I was a day or so away from before I go to Tampa usually. I get ahold of fes and some way. And he came at last. I was airy came out with a snuff you and some of his friends. It's great. It's great to see him. I saw him a few years ago, I think now. Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving. Yeah, that's right. That's last time I saw him. Show we did and yeah, it's one smack me. Yeah, it's one smack me for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, with that it doubt. He's a swing heart and one of the funniest dudes. I mean that Ron
Starting point is 00:01:52 and Fez, you know, you were a massive fan of them. Massive fan. And I got into them near the end of like, you know, about 2012, I want to say, I was late to the party, but love them. Well, that was, you weren't here in East Coast very much, which was, you know, they were a W&W for a while. Yeah. Then in ONA, and, you know, I would download ONA, and then I would hear about Ron and Fez, and that's what started peeking my interest in. So I started listening, but I never got it consistently, because I never had serious.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Well, and they were on, they were also on free FM. They were the afternoon show on free FM and they were awesome. They, uh, so hilarious. I was like, I remember being like tense when I thought when everyone was getting like fired. Yeah. From everywhere with the stern thing and then, uh,
Starting point is 00:02:38 O&A, uh, stuff all went down. Like everyone was getting shuffling around but they stayed in there for a while. But I listened to them when they went to DC and everything. But why they meant so much to me. Of course, Ron and Fez, I'm talking about, before they opened their arms to me and really changed, probably the course of my career in many ways,
Starting point is 00:03:00 but also a first show that really opened me up to an audience where people started coming out to shows, and they were like, I heard you, Ron and Fez said you were the shit. So we're here to see you in Tampa. I don't know if it was the first time that happened. That's great. They were always so gracious to comics. And you know, you could see that at their thanks at the Bennington Thanksgiving before that.
Starting point is 00:03:21 I mean, Ron and Fez was a place where what I loved it, it didn't really have like the, it was people that loved O&A that didn't want to attack anybody. It was like this weird, like, they weren't Dicks, they were super funny, but they were never Dicks. No, well, I don't think I'm saying this. I hope I'm not sucking my own cock here, too much.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Do it. I get it in there. But I, well, let me, let me go here in order, me get go here in order chronologically. You're the master of crowd work Let me start at the beginning. I am a Shaolin monk in the art of cram That should be recognized before with any J.O. Chris and genius genius. Thank you. No, I wouldn't step on that legend tag. Mr. Rich Voss will be coming after and then I'm gonna have to fistfight Bonnie It's gonna get weird. You have to go do a whole Andy Kaufman route
Starting point is 00:04:10 Yeah, rain is gonna be biting at your calves. You're gonna have to give her a donkey kick so Where I discovered Ron and Fez and Fez is unbelievable Touched by God radio voice. When you meet him, you're like, when you see Fez for the first time, you're like, really?
Starting point is 00:04:30 Didn't picture that. Really? For sure. He's one of those voices with the second you started going, that's you. I kind of found that out way early on in looking them up. I forget what even that site,
Starting point is 00:04:41 they're old old site they used to have. Oh, I forgot what it was called, but it'll come to me. But I used to go on there, like runoffes.net or something like that, right? It wasn't.com. I think it was like.net or something. We were like, I don't know, whatever it was, I saw how he looked relatively early. And it was surprising to me, but listen to that show. And where I say that show where it meant the world to me was,
Starting point is 00:05:05 I drove home, I told this before, but I would drive home about three in the morning on average, 233 in the morning with Kevin Hart and Keith Robinson back to Phil. And you always said that Kevin Hart hated Feswalt Lee. And for some reason, he would be openly racist against Feswalt. You heard of here first. He was homophobic Yeah, it was it was a lot of stuff. You'd be surprised a lot of things. I know getting hard to say Kevin was a monster specifically about He's got some real ideas about the Holocaust. He didn't like our drops aren't coming through I hear it in your headphones Just now I think you're lost, bud.
Starting point is 00:05:45 No, dude, it feels like it's coming out of the board. It did sound like it was coming. Oh, yeah. That was good. But the other one was, Oh! Now let me fix something. You fix something.
Starting point is 00:05:55 You fix something. What did you do? Shifty whiskey. Shifty whiskey. Shifty whiskey. What the fuck, you got going on? What? No, I don't want to buy the copper wire
Starting point is 00:06:03 you came to work with. Eventually, Kevin Hart would just tuck her out from going on his homophobic anti-fazrants. Meanwhile Keith was like, oh no, hey, don't let God give me a stroke. It says what is a good guy. That's what it is a good person. Lord Strackmarch wise.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Twice. Why the hell does it structure on it? Poor Keith. Yeah, yeah still get fucking rules though I saw the always he's just fucking he still talking shit the same way I'm some damn well having so many strokes yeah you have more strokes and I've had girlfriends in my life So when me and Keith we'd be driving down to Philly driving home at night the way we worked it Was that whoever drove didn't have to pay for gas or food and I was the broken by far. Yeah
Starting point is 00:06:51 so I always drove which meant also that they were gonna Conquer right out by the Holland tunnel. Yeah, and then it was just did you ever pick? Did you ever pick kev up like a sleepy kid and go like hey, we're home? In your arm lane Did you ever pick Kev up like a sleepy kid and go like hey we're home? Hey, and you're arguing hey, and you go Hey, we're back in Philadelphia No, but there's a great when he got hammered one time and when he got out He was slept the whole way home and he got out of the car. Yeah When Keith dropped him off and then when he got home and opened the car door in the light came when he was really kept
Starting point is 00:07:24 Just pissed all over the fucking car seat. Oh my, I think it's Ford Focus. Oh, that's great. Pissing in a Ford Focus. Yo, could you have had a Ford Focus, you know how broke me and Kevin Hart was the time though? Could you have had a Ford Focus, and we treated like it was a Mercedes.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Like he's like, ah, we'll take the focus up tonight. Oh, like, oh, what do we have to do? With a mounted easy pass. Oh, holy. Oh, what do we have to do with a mounted easy pass? Oh, shit. This guy's doing it. Are you sure we could take the Nebuchadnezzar up there? There you go. It's a fucking Ford focus.
Starting point is 00:07:56 The Nebuchadnezzar. I do. We thought that Ford focus was like, look, like, wow, look at these. Look, I'm telling you, it was a time where you were like, your car windows weren't definitely power. Oh, that was the 5050, the turn of the turn of the century. They weren't always, there was options. Fuck it, my dad, my dad always has. The shittiest question now is power windows. There's no roll windows anymore at all.
Starting point is 00:08:18 You can't think you can get rolled, my dad always had roll windows. Always, never had a car without it. Well, roll windows are great though to a pop a button your mouth and not hold it with a finger and while you're rolling something down It's gotta get it looks good rolling down like chugging down a window with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth's pretty cool Better be spouting some world-changing advice. Oh, yeah for sure That's when you check the other side of it and you know, I'm gonna tell you something about women Yeah, they listen until they don't never better never been on a pony that has the same name as your ex-wife. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:47 If a guy looks happy at the table, he's cheating. Walk away from that game of poker. So, those guys will fall asleep and I would for the first hour of my hour and 30 minutes some ride, I'd get Ron and Fez the replay. That was like the first podcast. Yeah. And man, it just called their dynamic. True friends. True friends. I said, the real originator of on on grand scale, like that real. And it's what Ronnie, I believe I'm quoting him properly, is always
Starting point is 00:09:22 said like this job, he just wanted to, like, he professionally hangs with the guys on the corner, just talking shit. And like damn it was that. And years later, after being a super fan, illegally downloading their episodes, you don't need to say that that's why I didn't have serious access. Stealing money from a dead man's mouth. Then I got a car. See what my first mouth was pocket. Well, this is dead man's mouth. Then I got a car my first mouth from his pocket. Well, this is before the app. So then I got a car. Okay. Start paying for I guess listen to my car now
Starting point is 00:09:52 You broke good I broke good and Start listening to the show again a lot In the car and then with Christine. I think suggested some measures. Like, when you try to get on, Ron and Fez, now it's ridiculous. What's crazy is your first appearance when you listen to it, it sounds like you, because you do know them so well, it sounds like everybody's known each other for like, yeah, yeah, forever.
Starting point is 00:10:18 It was the most comfortable walk in the world. Yeah, when you listen to your very first Ron and Fez appearance, it's like, oh, Jay was regular at this point, and that's when I think I somehow caught it, I don't know where I was listening to it, and Fez appearance, it's like, oh, Jay was regular at this point. And that's when I think I somehow caught it. I don't know where I was listening to it. And I was like, this is crazy. This is his first appearance. Even hearing Fez, he read my plugs.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Like the first time was like, it was so like, oh my god, he's plugging it. He's in the plugs, yeah, he goes, Jay's gonna be at the plug. That's her plug. Yeah, it's so great. So awesome. They embraced me so,
Starting point is 00:10:48 a Christianly, Ron and Fez. Yeah. The three of them just like instantly became buddies. You know, and Ron's become a mentor to me in many ways. He's a radio. A person I go to for a sage advice on many things. Mostly sexual and cigar, mostly sex. Yeah, I'm like, Ron, The radio person I go to for sage advice on many things. Mostly sexual and cigar, mostly sex, yeah. I'm like, Ron, how do I satisfy a woman finally?
Starting point is 00:11:11 I got it, I want a good Havana. That's how buddy, I'll tell you what you got to do. Man, I'm real heartbroken for all of them, for Ron and Gale and everybody. All right, I don't know why former Jays poppin' back up. Hey, show from 10 seconds ago. What's happening, Lou? What's going on? What are you doing? What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:11:30 I mean, stop popping this happen. Yeah, it wasn't for me. Maybe one of you guys phoned his on in your pockets. I don't know. I don't want with my voice. I don't like this. I don't like this new, this new Lou where he just kind of passes the buck. Wow, single lose fucking, he's doing math. Yeah. You guys do this time. That was a joke. Can I tap in for a second? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:51 You sure can. I feel real bad for that whole crew, just because it's, you know, it'd be like thinking about losing someone here and just how fucking sad it would be, because you spend so much time sitting around talking and getting it I mean and Ron especially like 30 years on that you know, but that picture of Gail when she's Wednesday and he's uncle Fester yeah, and Fez is uncle Fester on Instagram. You're like, oh my god. That was her family. Yeah
Starting point is 00:12:18 No, I mean to Chris daily, too, you know, you know Chris and Earl and all of them over there like I Didn't hear if Chris cry, but if you did I can't wait to call him gay. Whoa. No, but I will I'm gonna call him did he Christine? He's gonna get it My boss and my friend in my front. My major died. Mm. Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, in the first thing I thought I was like, oh man, it's like coming to the week where I would have
Starting point is 00:13:06 a chance to see him. That really sucks. And yeah, they were such an important show to me. What I essentially, my dream was, or vision with you, was to base this show on. Like a genuine two-man camaraderie. Yeah, a show based on friendship. Of whatever it is and just lay it out there.
Starting point is 00:13:28 I mean, Fez's honesty on the air was jarring and amazing. Yeah, I was willing to share. His coming out of the closet episode. That is... You played that for me? The day it happened, we were at Stand Up New York and we went in your car and listened to it. Mount Rushmore of Radio Comedy moments. What's the song they hit?
Starting point is 00:13:46 Can you put the just we can we play the clip of that? I'm saying that play go to go to Fez comes out I'm gay it's good and the pause yeah, it's the funniest thing It's worth a listen for sure. Yeah, do they fucking rule? It just comes out. And I'm gay. And honestly, there's not a person, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:14 that's worked it serious or better on them that just doesn't know how great they are. Arguably the greatest comedy, how many radio do I mean they really stood to test the time city to city successful everywhere they went Maintained a following through all changes. Yeah, which you know, we're finding out now that's like It's hard to do it's hard to do and but also like, you know, it's great when you see it happening that you've mattered to people enough they swing over with you and they bounce around a decent amount and really it's a sit please you have to play this.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Wait we're trying to cue it. Oh to the actual part okay. I was just gonna I thought we were helping to listen to five minutes of it and just kind of you know kick our feet up. Yeah I'm not gonna work hard. I was kidding I was kidding I was just gonna take their show and play it over our show. I'm gonna fun way to be like, all right, I got five minutes. Yeah, guys.
Starting point is 00:15:12 In honor of FES, we're gonna take a day off and just play Ron and FES episode. Guys, we're gonna do Comedy Central's original idea for this show and just toss the clips. Yeah. Lou, you wouldn't mind hanging around and doing commercials, would you? Yeah, could you read the commercials?
Starting point is 00:15:26 Commercials? Well, first off, we should say we are in studio today. We are in studio today. And for Wednesday and Thursday, we get studio time. We're also, as they queue up the Ron and Fezclip, we're in our old home. This is the site of Jacob doing pushups outside for Deb. That's right.
Starting point is 00:15:43 This is Gilly Soutse. This was Arty Lang walking in here on heroin and scaring both of them in a sad way. Arty Lang coming in and nose just bleeding out of nowhere. Dude, I swear to God if you find that exact episode, you can hear both of us gasp the second he walks in. We're like, oh fuck. And then when he's killed. And then he's just killed.
Starting point is 00:16:04 But he had one of those lines popping up out of a nod. Yeah. He had his eyes closed and then he goes, ah, yeah, it's like my buddy, and he tells the story and it was like set up a floor. I'm murdered. Leaving that day and we're like, already all right, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:19 he's like, I'm gonna go see Hamilton. I'm gonna go see Hamilton. I'm gonna go see Hamilton. You look so go see Hamilton. I'm gonna go see Hamilton. You look so bad that both of us had to stop talking on air to be like holy shit. I haven't seen the audience so long ago. I saw him, I saw him right before the seller open back up and you look good.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Really? Yeah, I still look good. Jacked. His nose wasn't fixed, but he looked. Fucking yoked. Dude, he's doing a lot of gear. He's doing a lot of tests.oked dude doing a lot of he's doing a lot of gear. He's doing a lot of tests. He's doing a lot of deballs. He's a bump in test. Dude, you know, new Artylang Jack Diesel.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Instead of positive from about Arty for once. Yeah, dude. That's what got it all together and he opened up a boxing school for a troubled youth or you know you know that Arty got second place in the CrossFit competition. What? You know, he's got back from the Olympic trials. Yeah, he just, he just, uh, clean jerk. He's like, oh my God. Get the fuck outta here. Oh my God. He's on the hammock.
Starting point is 00:17:14 He's on the American handball. I think he already does have like a crazy, like one thing, he like leg, press a thousand pounds. He just got some one weird like. Yeah, like an oddity strength. Yeah, he just won't break these strength. And he's like, that's a New Jersey beach lift. And you're like, no, like an oddity strength. Yeah, it is one gravy strength. He's like, that's a New Jersey beach lift. And you're like, no, that's a hanging jerk.
Starting point is 00:17:29 And you can do it, you can do 400 pounds of it. All that years of abuse, something good's got to come out of it. Maybe like he feels no pain on his arms. Something nutty. Like you can mow tie fight. They don't have to roll the nerves off him. Exactly. You just get kicked in the leg and he's like,
Starting point is 00:17:42 that was nothing. We're up to him. To him, he has peg legs. He hasn't felt his shins in years. Do we have it? Do we have a cute up? How's our cuteing process working? Good.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Hit the cue. You know, in London, that means line or in England. That's cool, huh? Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah. And this is one year ago since your dad passed away. Yeah, one year ago today. So you decided that today is a day that you wanted to talk to the audience about
Starting point is 00:18:16 stuff that's been going on with you. Yeah, it's, I mean, of course, that day last year was one of the biggest changes of my life. And so big change to announce today on the RanaFest show. So today seemed like the appropriate day to make this announcement. And just let everyone know, and I appreciate everyone who's been so interested during the announcement. But just let everyone know that I've come to terms with things and I just want to tell everyone that yes, I am gay
Starting point is 00:19:09 Run, I'm gay That's the announcement, I'm putting it out there It's not a bit, it's not a character I'm feswaltly and I'm gay So you play a gay character. No, no, no, no. I am a gay person. The old Jersey governor put it best.
Starting point is 00:19:34 I am a gay American. And I'm fizz, wotly. You are finally ready to say the thing that's taken now years to say yes I wanted to do it before I was 30 congratulations buddy thank you my friend thank you for the patience rest in peace Fezzi yeah he was so I know by the end of his career, he was so anxious. And that's what I also felt. I wanted to say, I did feel like a real kinship to him in that
Starting point is 00:20:15 way because I said, I'd hear his, like, you know, I'd hear it on the show. He was very honest about the stuff that he was going through. And he'd be very flustered on the air genuinely and I really like I felt it. That was really like man. I'm kind of going through at the same time almost yeah a very similar thing So it's pretty crazy, but that Fez comes out I heard it Live driving into the city. Yeah, this is when you're living on Long Island. Yeah, I heard it live Or remember there's a replay or was it a replay? It was a replay coming in the city and I had to rewind it. Because you had a kid off the scene.
Starting point is 00:20:50 When I, you were later at the comedy club, like did you hear Fez come out and I was like, I heard about it and hear the segment and you're like, I have it loaded up. Yeah, it's God damn it, that's so fun. You know where it feels. Great. See that, Jim? Didn't do a run to a bit forever God damn it, that's so fun. You don't make me feel great.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Didn't do it, didn't run to a bit forever where he pretended to fess hate you. Yes, he did. In fact, that's a fun thing to bring up too because you thought the fess actually did hate you. I came in and he was upset with me. For sure. He's mad at Legion of Skanks. I was, you made a Legion of Skanks.
Starting point is 00:21:22 I went home frazzled because I was like, also, I didn't say anything really that I was like, I was like, I forget what I was at a Legion of Skanks. I went home frazzled because I was like, also, I didn't say anything really that I was like, I forget what I was like, Anthony made like some pretty like cruder gay jokes maybe or something. Whatever it was. I was just like, I didn't far from said anything. There was that shit, whatever I said, ticked them off and he just focused it all on me.
Starting point is 00:21:41 And I came in the show and he like, he didn't dress me down. He was like really upset with me. And it seemed pretty real on me. And I came to the show and he didn't dress me down. He was really upset with me. And it seemed pretty real to me. And I went home and I was upset. That was the day of the explosion of the building on 7th Avenue. Really? Because Christine couldn't come with me because she had a strep. So she was home and she heard the explosion happen. I was up here feeling terrible that a phesor's upset and I left not a huff but like I left quickly. I didn't it was like long on goodbyes because I was just like I was like oh no he's mad at me for
Starting point is 00:22:18 real. Went to a gig in Florida later that week I think it was like the next weekend or something. And I saw Liz sets fire saw me and she was funny, a long time fan of the show. Oh, yeah, of course, is why I was a we inherited her and Sarah McPand, we inherited a lot of people from Bennington, but I felt specifically, Liz sets fire. I remember this she said to me, she goes, so is a festo maddie, I was like yeah I guess so that's not me out it's a surprise he's kept it Ron it they can keep it going yeah no they're great at it it's the
Starting point is 00:22:54 I honestly it's otherworldly how good they are keeping I'm so bad at that I should have feel bad for the person I'm doing it to they never do yeah God they can keep it. Go. Even still when you brought it up, Ron, I think the last time he brought it up to Ron, Ron was like, well, he never said he wasn't. No, no, I think that's what I used was said, I go, Hey, how's Fesied doing at one point? And I go, he was like, he's doing good. You know, he's good. He's with his family and he's blah, blah, blah. And I go, yeah, I go, does he still hate me?
Starting point is 00:23:27 And he goes, he doesn't ask me about you. Yeah, that's right, that's right. But, but she, so this is fire, she goes, does he still hate you? I go, yeah, I guess so. I don't know, this is horrible. And she like, cock-eyed smiled at me, like, come on, come on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:47 And almost like when she was like, I thought she was saying like, you're part of a work. I go, no, no, there's nothing to come on. I am operating under like, I don't know. He was very upset with me. He has said if I would shave my head that he would like forgive me or something. And I was like, no.
Starting point is 00:24:02 I was like, no, I'm not gonna do that. And then so we, and she started just looking at me like, come on. And then when she just started describing it, she goes, it's a work. It's wrestling. They're like wrestling guys. Like they're putting you over. Like they're putting you over. Yeah, by saying you guys are getting ready to like do a show.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Bond fire was in the works at that point. Yeah. And he was like, he was like, yeah, he goes, they're putting you over like they're, they're, they're, they're doing the thing. I was like, oh, wow. Yeah, they said, I never looked at it that way. So many times it was just legionist king. I was on the next day and they were asking me about it. Yeah. And then he's kept talking about legionist kings. Right. They were putting us up and that was what they were doing. They were putting
Starting point is 00:24:41 a heat. Yeah, it was really fucking cool that they did that actually. And then it'd be really funny if Ron goes on, if he hears this and goes on the margo's, no, that's not what we were doing. That genuinely didn't like you for a time. There was a short moment where he despised you. But no, and then when I saw him, the next time I saw him, I I believe was Tampa was it Tampa first?
Starting point is 00:25:08 Yeah, I think so No, I think it was maybe in the Thanksgiving show I don't know what you want to one of them when I saw him it was so like I actually really sweet when I saw him it was just like giving a hug and like a kiss on the cheek Yeah, which was even more affectionate to the normal, like, you know what I mean? It was just like, I'm just gonna see a familiar face, maybe down there or something.
Starting point is 00:25:31 But it was, it was pretty cool, man. Like, he was so important to radio, so important to me personally. I'm sure to all of us, DJ Louis, I know you're good at this. Do you have any words? Not a fan. I'm in the black radio. You know, I'm not a fan.
Starting point is 00:25:51 I knew Faz a little bit when he was on his way out. He would share a desk with me and he was really sweet and he could tell on the air he was going through some deep shit and he was really having a hard time but he was always so cool and sweet and nice to us in the hallways and very funny. That's what I get to say. Oh, I didn't finish, get to finish.
Starting point is 00:26:09 That was beautiful though. I didn't get to finish what I was sucking down and dick for a little bit. Yeah, I was sort of sucking Christine's dick. You guys are a couple. But I got in there through Pete Dominick. Yeah. I reached out, I knew you were serious.
Starting point is 00:26:23 He's like, oh, I know Christine. Those guys are great. I'll get him and get a hold of you when he did. And did and I was on the show damn and then you turned your back on him in the Deroza beef no I did not always had inside guys for 10 years Plugged you in and then you destroyed it not what happens at all you're being a cunt You're being a cunt. I don't have that all the time. You're being a cunt. You're being a cunt.
Starting point is 00:26:46 You're being a cunt. So Pete Dominic got me a look from Chris Danley who called me. He said never turn your back on me. Just as long as you promised to never have Joe the Rose on your show. You ever work here? And let's say that's a problem with, I don't know, like Joe the Rose. I just don't take his side. I didn't take anybody's side.
Starting point is 00:27:03 No, I don't know. You were team the Rose on your show. Don't you dare say shit like that. You have people on their fire. I had a room from the building, sure. That wasn't me. You got a fire. Sure. You were in that apartment.
Starting point is 00:27:14 You and your Egyptian jackal got him fired. When we started coming in and Christine would come in with me and we were talking about, I don't know. Of course, I know already, Bobby Kelly and Voss and all those guys, but I don't know if they were like on the radar as much of the newer younger guys coming up and Christine started sending people in a bus. So that's yeah, that's when she was getting like so I think through that's where they got like Sam or L Joe list. Maybe even Mark Normus. It was the first time I yeah, I had been going up with you because I was just so excited to like come to serious and sit and watch a show. I'd become a fan of the show for listening with you.
Starting point is 00:27:49 And when they made the move from OB and Anthony channel over to Rodog, they asked me about booking comics, like bringing comics into the show. And I put a list together of like, you know, 40 comics to bring up and try to pitch it and there's my first booking job ever where i was able to like do you get in shape before chay was chay i think so yeah i have to look at the original list but i was so excited to because i saw what they had done for you just as far as touring and people showing up from run fes i was so excited to have something to like bring comics into to like you know give them this incredible forum to try to like bring comics into, to give them this incredible forum to try to shine on the show,
Starting point is 00:28:28 to then maybe have that translated into people coming out to see them. Well, they set you up to win, which is great. Yeah, I don't know if me and Dan do that. No, we set you up to watch us. We set you up to watch us be funny, though. Yeah, come over to our house and watch us play with our toys. Hey, if you want to see this person be funny,
Starting point is 00:28:43 go see him on their tour. Right now you're gonna watch them watch me and Dan be funny. It really is, really. Come down to the basement. All right, I got my fort set up, so you can just hang out on the couch. Oh, if it excites anybody,
Starting point is 00:28:54 I believe next Monday we'll have for the full show again, Tony Roberts. In stewed. What? We back into you next one? I think we can be. I think we can be. Damn. What? Are we back in tune? I think we can be. I think we can be.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Damn. Uh oh. Uh oh. Looks like the boys are back in 10. Kept them wrong weekend. The go subway poll licking. Boy did you pick the wrong week for that? Jacob any words about Fez?
Starting point is 00:29:18 I know he was soup. You're a super emotional guy. I probably didn't even know him as as much as Luda, but it was just like, kind of like, I thought the show was kind of mythical to me. So yeah, I mean, Fres was just very friendly to us in the comedy department. So even though you worked over at the Fox hole, I wasn't, yeah, it was nobody.
Starting point is 00:29:43 So he was, uh, he was just the always nice guy. And that's just what I remember about him. You were never nobody. You would take a betot from fox hole radio. Yeah, you were, you were already a Phoenix rising. Yeah, everything I like is rugged. You're 16 phone calls. You're 16 phone calls away from Jamie Foxx at all times.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Hey, do you want me to get a hold of Jamie Foxx? Do you have three weeks? Yeah, he goes, no, there's a lot of channels I have to go with. There's a lot eventually what I say will get to him. A lot of doors that might not swing open, but I know where they are. I know where they are. Sarah McPain tweets that they were so, hello. They were so good at keeping a bit going
Starting point is 00:30:28 that when the announced FES was leaving on April Fool's Day, I didn't buy it at all. I even told people it wasn't really happening, trying to be a car and you know, was still a rooob. Yeah, it's like I'm leaving on April Fool's Day and then actually leave. And then it's left and they're like, what's up? So it's not
Starting point is 00:30:48 It was a it's well, and you know and look Bennington It's what a beautiful concept for a show that it lives on with Like with feds his memory, but Some of you like a gale and being there and Chris and stuff so they get to keep his name Live as we all do for a long time black Black loony thoughts, another dead whitey who gives a shit. Oh, Jesus. That's the tiger. As a lonely kid, my family moved from Georgia to New Jersey.
Starting point is 00:31:21 And when I put on the radio, that was the first show that actually came on. Really? On air, yeah. And it kind of opened my eyes up to all kinds of talk radio. Um, OP and Anthony, I think Don and Mike might have been on the, on the channel at the same time. I think they were, yeah. Yeah, man. I briefly remembered Don and Mike, that was any W. Any W.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Yeah. Yeah. And um, always loved Fez, and then when I came to intern for OP, it was awesome seeing him in person and being like a foot from him. I do rarely get starstruck, but with Fez, I was like, he's right here. Fez is right here. Just standing next to you in the booth? Yeah, it was awesome. He's definitely a part of my radio DNA. 100%. Being a fan and an employee, definitely.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Christine met him, came on to him him three weeks later. He came out as gay crazy crazy. We did not know that she was the push. She was the put. I hope you guys know. They rapied us show you what a homo you are. Wow. I mean, the man is I mean, Ben dead 72 hours. Let the body get cold. Jesus Christ. So. So, uh, so condones is obviously to his family. Absolutely. Uh, the entire beddington family. Yeah, both of his family and the Ron and Fez crew, uh, of the past crews of the past, uh, I know,
Starting point is 00:32:36 vetoed so many people that have worked there. You should check out. I bet what you're called pretty sad, uh, damn, Perlman. I wasn't in turn over there. That's where I met that. That's where I met. Yeah, that's where I met Dan. That's where I met Dan too. Just so many great people and I hope for the best, I hope, you know, I think they're going to do something, I think Ron said today is going to do something and try to do something
Starting point is 00:32:55 in New York and Florida and some sort of memorial. Awesome. Go out with a bash. Well, when we find out about it, we'll hopefully give you a part of that in some way. We'll announce it, at least here. Absolutely. Rest in peace, Fez Wattley. All right, peace. Fez Marie Wattley. You will be missed You've been listening to
