Episode Date: August 12, 2026Jay gets his hair "shaped up" for his appearance on Godfrey's podcast. | Bobby makes two bold statements: Richard Pryor's stand-up doesn't hold up today and Red Johnny and The Round Guy were the funni...est act of their time. Jay makes him play clips of RJ & The RG and he doesn't quite see the appeal. The Round Guy actually calls in because he was listening to the show. And now, the Bonfire with Big J. O'Kerson and Robert Kelly.
I got to go do Godfrey's podcast after this, and I have headphones hair.
Fuck, black people are going to see me.
You really just want to, you just black people rule with you, man.
I don't want to miss me off my hair game, and it's happened because of these stupid fucking over ears.
How do I not have any of your headphones yet? It's crazy.
You did get, you got trimmed up nice for this show.
I saw the sides. You got trimmed up for this show.
Yeah, no. I'm okay.
all right now you're not dude my hair's all fucked your top is I don't know but you the sides are tight
you're tight right now sides are tight you got everything tightened up for this podcast tonight no not for
it just happened to catch me on the right day no yeah no you you want to look right every other Monday
every other Monday I go get all as uh us blacks call it Lou shaped up yeah get my shit tightened up
and that's as us sticks call it bundles of sticks call it yeah
I didn't realize barbers now black barbership does your eyebrows and I'm kind of liking it more than like
getting my eyebrows waxed and all that shit and all that pain they just kind of fucking like
trim them up they just trim them like they make them look nice they just do it you got you got some
vinyl ice stuff going in your eyebrow what are you talking about you got a little uh zippity do in your
eyebrow what does a zippity do you got a little pinstripe in your eyebrow no does that seem like
that's the case it is the case I'm looking right at it yeah I see I don't think so you got it on the
side where you look like a little bit like a little bit of a little bit of
a fucking antique car.
Like a 5.0, which I happen to be rolling in with the ragtop down so my hair can blow.
Yeah.
You look like greased lightning right now.
There was no slice in their eyes.
They weren't that cool.
No, I'm talking about the car.
Oh, I'm greased lightning.
Got you.
Yeah, you're excited about that?
About...
Doing the Gaffrey show?
No.
You're excited?
I'm excited.
Well, I mean, you know.
No, I'm happy to do.
I'm very happy.
I've never done the podcast before.
No.
Because of some things I love to discuss.
Well, it's interesting what, you know, Godfrey, we came up together.
He was kind of my class.
Him, Cori, me, Dove.
I was with between me.
You said he was the first black kid in your school.
No, he was Chicago.
He did not go to my school.
Oh.
You just think they all like Godfrey.
No, not all of like Godfrey.
Okay.
No, no.
No, not all of them.
All right.
Is that the direction the show is going?
because I don't play that.
Not on Godfrey night.
Is that why I don't have commercials anymore?
Yeah.
I don't play that shit.
Not on Godfrey night.
Not what I'm having Godfrey night tonight.
Well, he, you know, Godfrey's always been a killer on stage.
Always kills energy.
He's just crazy.
And then he popped him in.
But then he, you know, he kind of ran into that thing where you kind of pop or, you know, it didn't happen.
But everyone, like a very underrated dude.
Gorgeous, good looking, in shape, funny, charismatic.
confident but then during the pandemic he started going live every night like two in the morning until
five like hours we just go live and he built this massive fan base himself just by going live on
instagram every night for hours and just i saw it it went from like what was he doing on it
went from like hundred people to thousands of people watching him at the time what was he doing
just yeah doing what he does best garfries can yap he's like charade they can talk they're not talking
with somebody just talking talking to himself talking
to the people in the room, reading the comments, talking back, just by himself.
And he built this massive fan base from it, you know, and kind of built a career from himself.
What, he had a career?
Huh?
Well, he had a career, but, you know, there's, you know, this industry-accepted career, which I
think we all strive for at one point.
And then there's a point where you got to kind of, you know, you made your own bones.
I've made my, our own fan base outside of the industry.
and he did the same thing.
I didn't waste too many years
trying to get mainstream bones
which I'm happy about.
You know what I mean?
I don't feel like I have a guy.
Like I always look back pretty quick.
I mean, I'm sure I've done
hundreds of auditions in my life.
Yeah.
Now, probably not even.
But like, it's almost the point.
Like, I've done, like, I hated auditioning.
And then when I look back on it,
it wasn't a major part of my life.
Like, I did it, you know, several times
in relation to how long I've been doing comedy for him,
was just very quickly, it was like, I don't care about this.
Most auditions you go on are pointless.
They already know the guy.
It's already, they already know it's down to three or four dudes, maybe two.
They already know who they want.
All those people have to do is not fuck it up and ask for too much money or fail the idea.
So it's like, we're going in just to fill a quota.
I just never liked it.
I didn't care about the outcome of it for the most part.
No, here and there.
It'd be sometimes you'd get like, oh, this is for a show that I like or something,
or this is a show that I actually watched, so it'd be neat to be on an episode.
Yeah.
But for the most part, it was like, you couldn't get me hyped up about a show.
It's like, hey, they want you to play like a hot dog vendor in a scene on like, you know,
general hospital or something.
I couldn't care less.
Right.
I mean, everything I got was from, they already, I just got it.
Yeah?
Yeah, it was, yeah, you got it.
Yeah, you know, I had auditioned like as a whatever.
Yeah, but anything that was worth having, I very rarely did.
I mean, law and order, but that was easy because they did a million episodes.
So you would go in.
You were on 996,000 of them.
I was, I think, five or four.
And I looked different at every single one.
I went from hair to fat to skinny to bald.
Yeah.
Yeah, did I?
I saw all, am I get so excited.
I see you or Ben Bailey would show up at one once in a while.
You go in for the audition.
There's only usually 10 people for your role or five.
And as soon as you walk out within 10 minutes, you knew you got it.
How many comics out there don't, like, no out of the gates,
they don't give a fuck about acting.
It had nothing to do with like a crossover,
anything else other than doing like kind of stand-up.
I mean, I've always like, I've done both.
I know, I'm saying, like,
it was almost expected when you got in the comedy in New York
when I started up here.
It was like, and now you start taking the steps also towards acting.
You're writing a script.
You're auditioning for things.
You're doing it.
And it all struck me right away where I was kind of like,
wait, write a script, like for what?
What's your story, man?
What's the sitcom?
I go, I don't, I don't never thought about sitcoms.
Like, I was like, I thought we're doing like stand-up comedy.
Well, that was because-
Well, who's your commercial agent to do what?
He goes, oh, I got a Ben Gay commercial last year.
Actually paid for my whole year.
And you're like, I get it.
The idea is if you get something, you don't have to work a day job
and you can put more in a comedy, I guess.
But I was just like, you guys should get into the black circuit.
If you work the black circuit, they pay you money.
You can do the black circuit, or you can just live in squalor like me and have rent be so cheap that you don't have to...
Oh, I live in shit places.
I just paid for it with the black circuit.
I lived in garbage for a long time.
But, I mean, when I started comedy, was with the improv group, and then we got into stand-up,
and then I quit comedy for two years.
Is it, Alan the Sprinkles?
Alan the Monkeys, not the Sprinkles.
Would have been a better name, by the way.
Alan the Sprinkles.
Alan the bundle of sticks.
But yeah, I quit.
I was gone for two years.
Billy, Patrice, Dane, all those guys were doing stand-up.
And I was, I made a movie, then another movie,
then I did a play, off-Broadway play in Boston for like seven months.
Wow.
And then I went.
Oh, you'd play special time I know a play.
Meatball.
A meatball says what?
I went back to, I remember going back to the clubs and everybody was working and into the clubs.
and I had to start over, it sucked.
Like, they were all getting up and fucking they were good.
Like, I remember watching Patrice and Billy just kill, and I was just...
Just trying to figure it out.
No, I was just trying.
They wouldn't even let me on stage.
I had to just sit and wait and wait for somebody to get a spot.
It sucked.
It's so funny seeing people now, like, just in life, even like Metzger's at because he's
like one of my oldest friends, too, just pictures both, like, sitting in the back of, like,
the laugh house.
Yeah.
In Philadelphia, like, hoping to get on.
All that kind of the small-time politics of it all,
like so-and-so's coming in and bumping.
It's like, you didn't even do good on Comic View.
I got bumped.
We're getting bumped for beefy, funny, you know, whatever, some crazy name.
I got bumped at the Boston Comedy Club one night by,
it was Jim Brewer, and then I got bumped by Jay Moore,
and then I got bumped by Dave Chappelle,
and then I got bumped by Red Johnny and the Round Guy.
I bumped four times, and just in a row.
Damn.
And they just go up and fucking murder.
And then it was like, all right, you're next.
I was like, I think they turned the lights on by accident.
That sucked.
Red Johnny the Round guy, I never knew.
He wanted to become major character in Futurama?
Well, it was two guys.
It was a comedy team.
Yeah, but one of them...
One of them...
It's Red Johnny.
It became like a major voice actor.
Major voice actor.
He was actually the other guy.
When I was up for Dane Cook's sitcom, it was him, me, and one other guy, the other guy who got it.
Wait, Dane didn't just give you the sitcom role?
I told you this.
Jesus Christ.
I didn't get...
To play Bobby, right?
I didn't get Bobby from Boston, Dane's best friend.
Well, in fairness, Dane, maybe they got a crystal ball
because you're doing a terrible job playing his best friend in your life to this day.
It was a role you're unfamiliar with at this point.
I'm pretty sure all his best friends is playing a terrible job.
I don't mean, that didn't come from me, Dane.
Go ahead, you're saying what?
No, Red Johnny and the Round guy.
I'm not saying that, Dana.
That's not from my husband.
I didn't say that.
Red Johnny.
He's not listening.
Dude, I want to hang out and ride young girlfriends with you.
I'll wait a lot.
Red Johnny and the Round Guy were probably the funniest guys around the hills with you.
I mean, funnier than anyway.
Is it duo?
Buddy, they would come into the Boston comedy club,
black night, any night,
and fucking the roof would fall.
You bring up some red Johnny around?
I've never heard their comedy before.
I don't know if it trans-I haven't heard them.
Oh, here we go, the back pedal.
Well, dude, I just watched Pryor and I was like, whatever.
You know what I mean?
It's like, it's, I don't know what that time they were doing.
Well, dude, that's Pryor.
This is Red Johnny and the fucking round guy we're talking about,
dude.
Sure, Pryor doesn't hold up.
Ask anybody back then.
Those guys would come in.
I always heard that, but I don't know their comedy at all.
So I'm like, why did it not turn into anything bigger comedically?
They would fucking murder.
Look at young Stamos, dude.
Mother fuck the world.
He was also sitting next to a young John Stewart who is not good looking at all.
Stop, stop, stop, stop.
Which one is Red Johnny and which one's the round guy?
Left is Red Johnny, round guys in the right.
Jesus.
All right, guys.
Kids, I'd have got away with a treasure.
Ben-a-p-Ban-Ban-Ban-Ban-Ban-a-Ban-Ban-a-Ban-Ban-Ban-Ban-Ban.
Where we used to sing, a little two-men sing on the comedy tip.
You can bet we swing.
Is Jay looking at me right now?
I'm just wondering right now, I'm not, but is Jay staring at me?
Yes.
Like you just farted on him.
Right, okay.
That's the face.
He's getting more and more disgusting.
Slowly.
Is he looking at me right now?
Yeah, like he looked at the screen and then he looks back at him.
Is he picking something up to throw at me?
No, but...
Looks like he's great sunglasses on?
Yeah.
I said, hey, what do you know?
Another show we got to ride it like a booty in the bedroom rodeo.
You're from Boston?
No, no, no, no, no.
Drop it like a bomb and leave him standing in a bar.
Oh, God.
He's the human beef up.
Oh, God.
Hang on.
Oh, shit.
Remember Howard Feller?
All right, so I don't remember this bit.
Yeah, stop.
No, look, it'll be ends, actually, the bit.
Let's get to some talking.
All right, let's see what happened.
Actually, I think, John, I, we're starting to look more like these guys on these video game cartridge commercials.
You know, these guys coming off like, with a new Sega action cartridge, you could go to level 10.
Awesome.
Two-no power.
I'm limited level.
Totally cool.
I just went my pants, man.
Okay, listen, here's a thing.
It's going to be off.
It's going to be off the row.
They would come into the Boston after, I'm talking.
Jim Brewer would fucking murder, like, crazy murder.
Jay Moore.
Oh, if you're losing credibility.
Who had a rough time?
Everyone killed, I feel like.
You're having rose-colored glasses looking backwards.
Everybody killed.
But this, you can't defend.
You almost try to move on completely.
Next time, we have Jay Moore or Jim Brewer.
We're never going to get your pal.
But you're friends with them now.
He loves you.
We're tight.
So maybe I ask them about these fucking two dudes.
I mean, it doesn't go.
Apparently it doesn't translate to 2006.
Let's watch any other, a little bit of redoubt.
Johnny and the Round Guy.
Not the MTV Beach House
1994?
I mean, I like to believe Bobby was the only person who ever did that.
I think that it's just...
There's no, there's nothing on them, dude.
Well, you could take out Boston.
Oh, yeah, I'll take out Boston.
I thought they're from Boston.
They're not from Boston.
All right, well, just let's go see the one of them in the summer house.
What do they say it's summer house?
We have videos from Aerosmith, gin blossoms.
Yeah.
Tell them else what else we got, Johnny.
Coming up right now is a video.
This is some bullshit.
This is when MTV was just giving all of us comic shit to do at Jersey Shore.
This is when I did Jim Brue's shit.
They were just giving comic stuff to do at the Jersey Shore.
Buddy, they are.
Fuck it.
Buddy, they were, go back to their other set.
It wasn't over yet on John Stewart.
Well, maybe, you know.
If you wonder, we were at the Sega bit.
That's by the devil.
Does the heavy metal concert promotion?
Yeah.
FM radio every five minutes is what you hear.
This weekend
At Madison Square Garden
Metal Fury
I'm a 1993
Tortured puppies
To torture puppies
Where do that
Be disrespectful to your parents
Be mean to small animals
Oh tortured puppy
Be there
Pause
This must have to have to do every night
I don't even tell me the honest
This must have to suck to have to do every night
Well you have to wait for the other guy too
Make sure he shows up
Yeah you're having a rhythm
You have to work at your fucking rhythm together
If you don't have the
If you don't have the
Wow guy
You really can't just do it
No absolutely not
I'm saying of and if they're off just a pig
Dude my timing's off and I'm fucking you're fucking both of us up man
Well
You're fucking us both up
Yeah they used to come in and kill
Dude give me even more
No
Y'all go to church a lot?
Y'all really this?
Church or temple or sacrifice altar or voodoo kitchen?
Everybody?
Yeah.
I tell you, I get the feeling a lot of people don't make it to church anymore.
You know why?
They need a strong advertising campaign.
Sure.
Especially in New York City, right?
Definitely.
We have just the thing to get people to go to church.
Get the butts and the pews, man.
Here we go, ready?
Oh man, another boring Sunday and nothing to do.
Hey, man, why don't we go to church?
Church!
Church!
Come on out of church is Sunday.
There's no cover.
Doors open at noon and you can jam with a madman!
Father Murphy.
It's all happening at church.
Church.
Church.
Free wine shots from 12 to 1 and 5 to 6 at church.
You love it.
Church.
Church.
And ladies, don't think about the big bake-off after Mass to see who's got the hottest buns in the parish.
It's happening this Sunday and every Sunday at church.
Church.
Church.
Church.
If you don't want to go to church, then you can go to hell.
That's our time, everybody.
We're right-drying around.
I will be seeing it.
I'm going to be in the Bible sentence.
Rome.
How short John Stewart is.
He's really short, man.
Mother fuck.
He is so short.
Jesus Christ, he's even like a cricket.
He thought he was tall.
He's not.
He's not small.
No, I just saw him about the cello like a couple weeks ago.
He's very short.
This is Red Johnny, seven feet tall.
Yeah, all right, well, you know.
What going on?
Tell me again, they were your biggest inspiration.
No, no.
No, I didn't...
You'd go, I'd have to follow that.
Dude, following those guys sucked.
Did it?
Well, you gotta understand, too, they're very...
In a club...
Hang on, I'm listening to Michael Winslow,
the greatest comic.
The hardest comic to follow.
Yeah, gagagagaggaggaggaggaggagg.
First of all, that's my bit, by the way.
That's my bit.
Oh.
Oh.
Now, dude, you're a total fucking red Johnny and round guy head.
We would talk about this outside how, like, I told you I was watching Prior.
Look, I'll respect to Pryor.
I love Pryor.
I love his live in concert.
Love that.
That's my favorite special, but I've seen other clips of him.
I just saw him in the other hand.
He's in a white suit, and he acted all this stuff.
But it was like, it just didn't, it's not funny to me anymore.
It's not, it's not.
It's been holding up.
It doesn't hold up.
It doesn't hold up.
It doesn't hold up.
out. Yeah, that's like, that's, that was right out of like, um, Bobby Collins, Rosie, uh, Richard
Jenning. It was right out of those where they were, Jenny, when they were all really, every joke
was precise, quick. That was right out, that was right out of that. That's when you got like Brewer and
Chappelle and Jay Moore and that type of comedy. But like Jay, I mean, Jay, I saw his comedy recently.
He's funny. He's, he's, he's, he kept up.
Who's this?
Jay Moore.
A stand-up?
Yeah.
I haven't seen a stand-up in a long time.
Yeah, he's funny, man.
He's still funny.
But, again, you have to remember, like, what you have available at the time.
That one right there in the white suit.
The information in the world that we had.
Do you know what I'm saying?
What they were working with?
No, white suit.
Go up.
White suit.
That's black and white.
What they were working with.
Yeah, like this.
This is a reaction video, though.
Yeah, but watch the bit.
It's, like, I don't know if this is the bit, but it.
Let me listen really quick, sorry.
Yeah, it was like I was watching this set, and it was like, me.
Yeah, well, look, again, it's also, they're not like fucking, like,
it's also a time when everyone was also on drugs and stuff a lot.
But they were going from, before him, they were going from, like, you know.
Lenny Bruce.
Yeah, like Lenny Bruce or, you know, Bill Cosby or, you know, like talking or swearing or,
that was like, oh, my God.
Bob Newhart, Button, Button, Down, Mind.
That was a different.
No, for sure.
That's what I'm saying.
but like, Richard Martin.
No, Richard Price.
I said all, with everything, dude, this happens in sports too.
One, the new things don't exist without the old things.
Yeah.
And the first person to do something a little bit different in the old thing should get all the credit.
But they're never going to be the best at the thing because it now evolves.
People know from the beginning, the reason Hoyce Gracie in the UFC right away came
out there and took every professional fighter in the world and just broke their fucking arm real quick
is because no one even heard of it.
Now there's a kid who would have been a world-class.
boxer who learns jujitsu when they're fucking five years.
Do you I'm thinking it evolves?
So Hoyst Gracie's nowhere near great.
Well, there's a guy who wrestles jihitsis.
He's a black, he's a jititsu wrestler, boxer.
They know it all now.
It's evolved.
So it's like, well, Hoyst Gracie wouldn't walk through the UFC at his best, at his best.
Well, you know, Hickson Gracie's son, who is the, I mean, Jaxon was the best Gracie.
Better than Hoyst, better than anybody.
They put Hoyson because he was the smallest and thinnest, just to prove a point that we're
not going to put Hickson in who will fucking murder everybody.
We're going to give you this one and he went and did it.
But Hickson's son was unbelievable.
Like killing it in jihitsu world, which is a whole other one.
He came into the UFC and got fucking handled.
Right.
Yeah.
Because he only learning one thing.
Yeah, he doesn't have to throw a punch.
Jiu-Jitsu.
He's great at that.
If you can catch people, we can catch him.
So it's almost that.
Like Richard Pryor did great with like the tools that was given him at the time,
the information in the world.
You know what I mean? It's like the
The situation
Like life kind of moves on
Like things don't
It's something gonna seem hack no matter what
Because
Richard Pryor is saying things now
With the evolution of humor
That a fucking
13 year old kid thinks of
And says and thinks it's his own thought
You know what I mean
Because it's like oh he has this thought
It's a 13 year old
It's like you.
Prior changed the world in comedy
He went from
You know, corny
Clean people shit to
Real life
And cool being cool
I got burnt
I lit myself
I lit myself
I shot my car
I mean, he's totally the guy that I love that style of comedy.
But it was just when I was coming up,
I would listen to Pryor's albums and fucking dying.
But my comedy, he's involved.
Yeah, I did that with a 2,000-year-old man.
And then it goes, take a nectarine for the road.
It doesn't really strike me anymore like he used to.
Yeah, I did that with the button down mind,
the invention of tobacco or something like that.
Yeah.
And I was like, oh, my God, this is genius.
I left my ass off.
I'm like Carl Reiner.
Now, while considered a satirist, I feel...
I love Steve Martin back in the day.
I thought it was funny.
I wouldn't hold up.
Doesn't hold up.
Arrow in the head doesn't hold up.
It doesn't hold up.
Yeah, it doesn't...
Anything Robin Williams ever did comedically doesn't hold up at all.
Hmm.
Hey, hmm.
But I think, like, Patrice still holds up to me.
Like, I'll watch his special and I still laugh.
Absolutely.
I don't know if down the line
New Generations listening to Patrice
will appreciate how good he was going to be
Gonna be yeah
Do you know what I'm saying about that
They're always thinking he was funny but like I don't know if he'll stand out
Yeah because like we just kind of knew
The people around him all kind of knew
We were like yeah this guy
He didn't know he was 41 when he died
Yeah I'm 48 I watched Bernie Max set
When you know I'm afraid of you motherfucker
The jokes aren't that funny
No
It's not if you look like I've watched that
All confidence
First time I watched it, I'm like, this is hilarious.
I watched it last night.
I'm like, oh, these jokes are kind of not even good.
What is it?
Oh, round guys online.
Oh, good.
Let him in.
Let him on.
Is he on the phone?
I don't know.
Let him on.
Is he listening?
Bobby.
What's up, buddy?
Bob.
I just.
How are you?
What's up, buddy?
How are you?
I'm good.
Bob, I swear to God.
Do you remember we played a gig?
It was Dane and you, I think it was out on the monkeys.
I don't know if we opened for you or you guys, it was in Massachusetts or at a college.
Do you remember that?
No.
I'm not kidding.
No.
All right.
No.
So, listen, that YouTube video you guys are talking about is I cringe every time.
Well, can I just say something?
I appreciate that.
I've been there.
I've been there.
You have to remember, I was at the Boston,
and I remember one night,
one night I was there,
and I swear to God,
I got bumped by Brewer,
Jay Moore,
then Chappelle,
and I thought it couldn't get worse,
but then somebody was like,
hey, Red Johnny and the Round Guys
coming in, like, what's that?
And you guys came in
and fucking ripped the roof off the place,
and I was,
you guys were,
there were a couple nights,
just what you said, that was the lineup.
It was like, Jay, Brewer,
and then Chappelle, and then Chappelle would have, like,
John get up.
I mean, that shit was, it was crazy live.
You're right.
That shit did not translate.
Yeah, the open, the guys who were, the new guys,
were like Billy Bird, Norton, me, Patrice.
We were, like, waiting in the wings to kind of get up in the middle of this fucking crazy.
It was all Barry Clients, right?
All Barry Clients.
catch. You guys were Barry Cutts.
Yeah, he had, he had every
every comic in the world
worth having all at the same time.
Until the, literally until the
Me, Kurt, Kevin Hart
era and Kevin's his biggest whiff on that.
But like, but when the three
of us came out, Barry was like already
like past like getting new people like that.
Well, you know
what, Jay, I watch you on
Kevin Hart, I listen to you,
huge fan, I think you're doing
amazing stuff. Oh, thank you.
No, honestly, even though you shit on me
The guy that didn't shit on you
Is there any compliments in the guy that didn't shit on you?
Bobby was ashamed of you
But also, don't worry, don't worry,
we have watched nonstop videos of me and Bobby
doing young comedy and eating all kinds of shit
But you know what it is with Bob?
I feel like if I had only stayed in it
I could have been a success, a working comedian at a level that got me a summer house in New Hampshire.
Tiny house.
I'm pretty sure you can do that now.
And you can do it with whatever you're doing.
I'm pretty sure Jacob can do that.
Let me tell you some.
I'm just a civilian.
I love listening to you guys.
You bring up stuff.
Jason, the agents.
Are you guys?
Let me ask you a question.
You talk about Frost, are you talking about Matt Frost?
Yeah, Matt Frost.
Is he is the head agent on the East Coast of CAA.
He's Bobby's personal assistant.
He's still my agent.
Oh, my God.
I'm the only client that's never left him.
He was Barry Katz assistant, and then he worked the door at the club,
and then he moved into, he moved up to, like, an assistant manager.
Me and Corielli was his first clients, and then he bought the,
company from Barry Katz, New York Entertainment.
Well, I don't know.
Do you remember, like, Matt, that was like Daytona.
Barry met him.
It was like MTV Springbank break.
We did like crowd, the crowd work before taping.
And that kid would slay pussy, like, you know, just insane.
And he made a big career.
Yeah.
No, fucking Matt Frost.
Oh, Frosty?
Oh, he hit the long hair.
You said the long hair.
Yeah, he was a good-looking guy, six-something.
Yeah.
Why did you guys stop doing stand-up?
So I don't know if you know this, right?
So really what it came down to was Johnny started booking, he was coming on it,
started booking, national commercials, Wendy's, and then he was getting, like, Chicago
Holb.
He was getting acting work.
and, you know, he was like, yeah, I don't need this bullshit.
And, you know, it's a comedy team.
But the same thing happened to me.
I don't care.
The same thing happened to me with Dane.
I remember we were at a Hojo's one night.
And we had a gig as Al the Monkeys.
And Dan came in and go, hey, I just booked my own gig.
And I was like, well, Al in the Monkeys, we said always comes first.
And he goes, I go, how much are you getting paid?
He goes, 500.
He goes, how much are we getting paid for Al the Monkeys?
I went 500.
And I went, all right.
Well, the group's over, and he left.
And then he skyrocketed.
But you killed it on Torgasm, bro.
Oh, God, did I ever?
I really did.
A lot of people call it the beginning of the end.
Where are you now, dude?
Well, listen, like I said, I'm a civilian.
I live in Connecticut.
I got a civilian job.
You know.
Do you still talk to him?
Do you guys still talk?
Are you friends?
No, no, no.
You know, in the end, it was, like, not a great separation of ways, but...
I'm going to throw this out here, because I don't talk to Dane anymore.
Yeah.
We started group, me and you.
All right.
We started back up.
I think, Jay, you got a name for it?
Yeah, like, Bobby and the shithead.
Listen, you guys are killing it.
Thank you for taking my call.
It was great talking to you.
Of course.
I really enjoy listening to you guys.
You guys are the best.
I really, honestly, I really enjoy it.
Listen, all right?
I still say you guys at the time, hands down, fucking,
everybody was afraid of following you.
Chappelle, all of us.
As a comic who came in, I said I came in like 99.
and like it was sort of like
just right after that time
that's why it was when Patrice and everybody was kind of coming up
and becoming the bigger dogs
but I mean that was always the talk
yeah it was Jay Moore's like the Boston
Comedy Club Jim Brewer
Jay Moore and then like you know
and then Keith would inject himself
me
Keith Pudgeon Robinson
Pudgeon
That's so funny
And Louis Schaefer
I love seeing like
what Lewis Schaefer not gay
Not gay
I love seeing
Wanda Sykes
like everybody made such a great career it's you know what god god puts us in different places but
it's exciting to see what what everybody's done so well you guys man you guys were fucking killing it
back then and uh you know yeah absolutely jay said it i mean people come out they do something
different and new yeah and you know you you see it happen thanks guys good talking to you
Great talking to you, man.
Great talking to you, too.
Buddy, thanks for coming in.
God bless.
Bye-bye.
Round guy.
Yeah, he was,
yeah, dude, I'm telling you,
did it.
So if I didn't know him,
so when he started talking about it,
I thought you were being pranked.
Like, I thought it was pranking you at first,
but he was like,
we did this show and you're like,
oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,
they were cool as shit.
And I actually,
yeah, I never knew where he went.
That's funny.
I'm glad that I, he kind of,
he's in Connecticut,
living his life.
And listen, it's also at a time
where a couple of white,
dude's doing rap was pretty cool.
It's never more embarrassing than what was the thing we talked with that that's
Teen Witch.
We were watching that thing.
I mean, like, those guys have to live with that.
And that guy became an actor and other things.
The guy who does the rap and Teen Witch?
What, top that?
Top that.
Oh, boy.
Well, I think we've all learned that we have something good.
And, you know, you have these things, these duos or groups that do really good.
And then there's always one guy that goes, hey, I'm going to go do my own thing.
Well, this is a different kind of thing you do.
You ruin all my fun.
Things are going great.
There's always one guy that's like, hey, I think I'm going to go do my own thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They're all sitting in the old folks home with Dane Cook, Red Johnny, and Soter.
No one can just ride it out to the end.
What is this?
This is what they thought rap was in the 80s, and a white guy was allowed to just do it.
You know, it's really awful.
It seems like a black guy did the voice.
and this guy is just like lip syncing it.
But like it's,
it's pretty weird though to have him like lips and it's like just have him do it.
He can't.
He's white.
Oh,
that's a black girl voice.
Right.
This is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever watched.
Why?
Because you don't like heterosexual love?
I don't like suburban rappers.
Yeah, no one does.
No one likes a cul-de-sac rap group.
But this guy has the confidence of Dane Cook, a young guy.
Dan Cook.
Oh, it says that
they performed it themselves.
Stop it.
Really?
Wow.
I mean, that was heavily
studioed though.
Yeah.
This is more of a black person thing to do.
Oh.
This is more of a black person thing to do.
I love you so much, DJ.
Holy shit.
Oh.
Holocaust denier
So we have to have an intervention, dude
Why?
I don't know
He's having fun
He's getting tons of views
I mean they're catchy too
She's probably fucking a black dude
Fat white woman
And she's fucking a black dude
Probably fucking a black dude
Fat white woman
And she's fucking a black dude
It's all what black people do, though
Yeah
He really has hit a
He's hit a stagnation wall of topics for sure
Yeah, he really did find a vein of black people stuff
I think there's one that also goes
This is such a white person thing to do
Woooo
Yeah, I want you do the gay one
How'd you do the bag of stick one?
This is such a gay thing to do
When I was going through it to pull drops
I got to tell you I was laughing though
Worry
At the fix?
Yeah, the formula is great
but I was laughing.
I couldn't stop.
No, it's Josh is like it's his strength.
No, I actually laughed at one of them, too.
There was one that got me.
I was watching it one day to hate it,
and then he got me.
Yeah, if you just keep watching something to hate,
eventually, you're going to just chuckle because he's...
How does he do the little green...
Does he have a green screen?
What is this?
I don't know.
Somebody's doing it for him.
I thought this was the white people thing to do, but it's not.
No.
Oh, that might be it.
A very white person to do.
Right here?
Yeah, maybe.
I mean,
it's not.
Oh my God.
If he becomes famous from this,
it would make me so happy.
It might.
If he has the tour with a green screen.
You got to look at white things.
It looks like it could be right there.
Right here?
No, that's a titty one, clearly.
Yeah.
Up there.
Just holding horses.
This is Jacob's dream heaven.
He's my third favorite recording artist of all time.
We should sign him on the bonfire record labels.
Funfire records?
Bonfire records right now.
Yeah, scoop this kid up.
Scoop him up before he dies.
He just jams words together.
It's not even...
I tell you what, this is...
What he's doing now on all of our social media is what I have a good time just laughing with Josh doing in a car.
Yeah.
He's nailing it.
He's doing good.
He's nailing it.
All right, we got to go.
Oh, God.
Oh, dear.
Time's over.
What a day.
Good day.
Good day, everyone.
Two shows, you'll enjoy the pre-record.
Tomorrow, we'll be back live for you at five.
Live at five.
Live at five.
And then next week's vacation for Bobby.
Oh, come on, dude.
This is like set up.
Decide just to put my head down and do the work that needs to get done.
I would have put my head down to you.
You said we were taking...
You need to spend time of your family, dude.
I'm on the grind.
Buddy, I would have been here.
I'm what they call on the grind.
Whatever.
It bugs me, too.
Really does bug me.
Dude, you'll be with your family.
That's probably way more fun.
If I had said to Jim, hey, Jim, I'm just going to work this week.
He'd be like, no, take it off.
No.
Don't you dare.
You know what?
Take a vacation.
We'll see you guys tomorrow.
Crackle, crackle.
