You should be disturbed by your inaction.
Not disturbed by the fear, disturbed by what's holding you back.
You should be disturbed that you're not taking uncomfortable action.
Because there's nothing, when you want to go from where you are to where you want to be,
it's never an easy path. It's not a greased runway.
It's not that everybody celebrates you and goes,
Oh my God, Danielle, Natalie, you guys are doing so amazing.
It's so great that you're not going to use your college degree
and you're going to go start your own online.
Like, that's not the way it works.
It's like, are you crazy?
You're going to do what?
It's always met with resistance.
It's always met with a bellyache.
It's always met with you staying up in the middle of the night
and going, can I really do this?
I don't know anything about this industry.
Can I? Can I?
That's when you know you're on the verge of greatness.
Not when everything's perfect. And if it's perfect, you wouldn't do it. so over the past few weeks danielle and i have been doing totally free live coaching every single
day and we wanted to make sure you had all of the details you need to join us next time we go live
it's all happening inside our new facebook group called Boss Babe Next Level, which is Danielle, myself, with a group of incredible aspiring boss
babes who've committed to devoting the next 60 days to leveling up their business, making more
money and creating lives they love. I have absolutely loved getting to share so much
coaching content on everything from mindset to money to business tips and social media hacks,
truly all the things. And Natalie, I don't know if you feel the same way, but it honestly kind
of reminds me of when we first started Boss Babe and we got to do so much more of this hands-on
coaching. I didn't actually realize how much I'd missed it. Honestly, I have really, really enjoyed
it and I'm so grateful for the chance to do it again and help so many ambitious women actually make real steps to reaching their goals.
Yeah 100% I feel the exact same way and that's a thing I have heard from so many boss babes whose new year's resolutions might have only made it to mid-January and who aren't exactly where they'd like to be by this point this year they're trying to do it all all on their own over and over again and just realize they're not getting anywhere and I've totally been there it can be really discouraging
and I know you have as well but I know the second you come into a group like this and get coaching
and start to push each other forward that's when the real shift happens and you can actually level
up and make real progress yeah exactly we've had loads of those light bulb moments in the community already, and it's been so amazing to watch and see those breakthroughs happening.
So really, really honored to be witnessed in that and helping other people.
So if you want to join, the group has actually already started filling up.
And needless to say, the energy is honestly contagious.
And I cannot wait to see you in there.
So click the link in the show notes to join the VIP group and we will see you inside. Welcome to the Boss Babe podcast, the place where we share with you the real behind the
scenes of building successful businesses, achieving peak performance and learning how to balance it all. I'm Natalie. And I'm Danielle. And we are
co-hosting this episode. We actually recorded it in person with Dean and it was incredible. I think
at one point, Danielle, you were almost close to tears with one of the exercises Dean had given you.
It was so powerful. Dean is incredible. Like, I mean, we actually captured this one on video.
And I think most of my, I was, my eyes were just on him.
He was just like, he's so powerful and so knowledgeable.
And I just like, he cares so much.
And I just felt that coming from him.
And I just like, I was just like leaning in the whole conversation.
Like I was on the edge of my store because I was just leaning in to him and the energy he brought to this conversation because it was fire it was it was just like mic
drop after mic drop after mic drop yeah this is probably an episode you're gonna want to listen
to more than once and maybe share it with someone I think it could be a really powerful episode for
a lot of people and before we dive in there is something really exciting that we want to let you
know about so and I need to pinch myself when I say this, like I'm going to play it cool, but honestly,
I'm pinching myself because this is just crazy to even say the words out loud, but are you ready?
We have teamed up with Jamie Kern Lima, Trent Shelton, Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosi, Jenna Kutcher,
Russell Brunson, and there's more,
Brendan Brashad, Galoa Tanmo, Dave Hollis, Rachel Miller,
Charlene Johnson, Princey A, Pete Vargas, and Pedro Adeo
to bring you a challenge.
Hinch me, guys. Hinch me like, what the?
Did you ever think that we would be saying that?
And I haven't even said the most exciting name yet
because I don't know if everyone's trying to keep it a surprise.
There is a surprise guest who will be speaking
that is going to completely and utterly blow your mind.
I can't even believe it.
So anyway, we've teamed up
and we are putting together a free five-day Own Your Future challenge.
So we are aiming to get one million of you into this
amazing challenge to learn how to create your own economy in today's shifting world and the premise
is listen if you don't own your future someone else will own it for you and we're not here for
that so on top of some incredible curriculum like we've been practicing we're flying in to do this
in person we've been practicing we've got so much to do this in person. We've been practicing.
We've got so much content.
On top of all that,
you can win so many prizes
from laptops, iPads, gift cards, Pelotons,
like you name it,
it's going to be crazy.
And I really feel like
we need this now more than ever.
Like how excited are you, Danielle?
I can't even cope with this.
I am so excited.
Like the knowledge
that is going to be shared in that challenge is going to be mind-blowing like some i mean we just
got to spend a few hours with tony robbins and it changed my life like watching these people and
like that was just him like share hearing from these other people as well it's going to be a
game changer this is like a life-changing challenge like when are you ever gonna get the
opportunity to partake in something like this again like be witnesses I'm gonna be in there
every single day watching and learning oh my god it's crazy and the thing is most people have no
idea really how to master finances getting control of their career or shift their daily lives to look like that dream life they're visioning
you can get so caught up by self-doubt or confusion so many things can get in the way but
one thing that we really want to get through with this is your past does not equal your future
like you have the decision now to make a change and you're gonna have serious formal if you're
not involved it's gonna be over a million people like we're committed to that number we're pushing
really hard to that number so we would love to
see you in there we need some boss babes in there we we are so nervous to speak that we need you
guys in the chat we need support yeah we do i'm gonna be so nervous oh my god i'm already nervous
i can feel it i'm so nervous palms are sweating right now yeah so if you're gonna come support
us and you're also ready to own your own future the link is
below in the show notes everything you've got is below we cannot wait it's going to be absolutely
phenomenal this been being planned for a really really long time so we're really excited and then
with this episode it's you know similar in terms of making changes we ask a lot of questions on
rituals and habits of incredibly successful people what can we be doing more of what should we be doing less of and i just know you're going to have a lot of questions on rituals and habits of incredibly successful people. What can we be doing more of? What should we be doing less of?
And I just know you're going to have a lot of breakthroughs.
Yeah, you guys are going to absolutely love it.
So without further ado, let's dive in.
A boss babe is unapologetically ambitious and paves the way for herself and other women to rise.
Keep going and fighting on.
She is on a mission to be her best self in all areas.
It's just believing in yourself.
Confidently stepping outside her comfort zone to create her own vision of success.
Dean, so excited to have you back on the podcast. And you've been on before. So if anyone wants to
dive in deeper to your story, I'm going to link in the show notes below because I just want to
dive straight in. And you said something today that really, really stuck with me. And it was,
and we all realize that you get to a certain level of success in business where you sit back and just reflect for a moment you're like you know
what the thing that got me here wasn't the tactics it wasn't the funnel it wasn't the little things
that I was doing but it really as a whole was the mindset having those foundational pieces in place
and when we reflect on our journey and we think about our rituals our routines habits the things we do consistently I know that's what's gotten us here and I really in this episode I want to help
the women listening to anchor in some habits that they can really use to get on that ladder of
success and get that momentum going and I know you have an amazing book millionaire success habits and
there's so much gold in there and I want to dig in to what you see really successful people doing consistently.
What habits do they have?
Why are they different to, you know, the average Joe that's never able to get ahead and get
momentum?
Yeah.
So first off, it's great to be with you guys.
Great.
We got to spend today masterminding and brainstorming.
It was such an amazing day.
And I'm glad to be here and I'm glad to serve.
I know there's a million things you could be listening to or watching and you're here with us. So I don't
take that lightly. So yeah, let's get right into it because listen, we live in a time where if we
don't step up, if we don't overcome those obstacles, if we don't push fear aside, if we don't
crush the imposter syndrome or finally break out of the mold, truthfully, someone else will own
our future, right? I love that, you know, we either own our future or someone else will. And I think
now more than ever, it might seem even scarier because of all the shifts in the world, people's
uncertainty. Even if you were the most confident person in the world, there's a lot of changes,
a lot of chaos going on. So uncertainty is at an all-time high. So how do we overcome that?
I want to go upstream first because I have some really good tactical habits that you could put into your life.
But I just want to tell you, and I'm not going to get into my story, but I want to tell you why habits are so important to me.
Is what I realized at a young age.
I wasn't smart enough.
I didn't go past high school.
I didn't go to college.
I had dyslexia, terrible dyslexia.
But I just noticed that both my parents worked really hard.
Like, my mom was a hustler.
She cut hair.
She cleaned houses.
She painted houses.
Got home late every night.
Me and my sister would make her dinner.
We did our own laundry at 8 and 12 years old.
But I noticed that her hard work was a habit.
Her being motivated was a habit.
But it didn't get her the life that she wanted.
We always struggled.
We lived in a trailer park.
We got evicted from our trailer
because my mom couldn't afford it.
She made like a hundred bucks a week to work her tail off.
She's probably my biggest muse.
The reason I worked so hard
is I wanted to help my mom and retire.
And my dad, my parents split when I was three,
he worked really hard in a collision repair shop.
Came home dirty every night
and hands all bloody from working on wrenches and stuff,
but he didn't have anything either. And money was always their worry. repair shop, came home dirty every night and hands all bloody from working on wrenches and stuff.
But he didn't have anything either.
And money was always their worry.
But what I realized is they kept doing, so this is something to really think about, they
had habits, guys.
They did.
But they had habits that didn't serve them.
And the only thing I could say is I was lucky enough, and I don't really know why, I'm going
to be honest, I just know I wanted more.
I wanted to help my parents.
I didn't like that someone else controlled their life.
They had no choices.
They didn't lack coming to my baseball games because they weren't good parents.
They had to work and do things, right?
But something triggered in me at a young age that I started seeking out older people in my little town.
And Joey Noto, Dominic Afuso, and Mark Miller.
Mark Miller was like 40 years older than me, 50 years older than me.
And what I noticed, and maybe I didn't even call it habits then, but I noticed they had different
rituals and yes, habits that were different than my parents. And they were happier and they made
more money and they were more abundant and they focused on solutions and they were grateful. And
every time I saw them, they'd be like, oh my God, what a young man is doing. Like they had just a
different way to approach life. And I actually saw like a different, I don't know how to explain it at this age, looking back on my life.
They had a different way of looking on their, like their face looked different.
They didn't feel like.
An aura.
Yeah, like an aura.
Yeah, that's it.
Like they had a different energy, a different aura.
My parents felt like they were carrying weight, right?
And I just started obsessing on what they were doing differently than my parents. And I looked like the complete oddball. Like my
parents thought I was a dreamer. I mean, loved me to death, but I was like
the oddball because I was adopting new habits. And that's why I just
really wanted to anchor that in is habits aren't hard to create. You already
have habits. In most cases we're just taking a habit that doesn't work out of
the way, one that was given to us by parents, by school, by life, by outer surroundings, that doesn't
serve us, and we had to flush it down the toilet and replace it with a habit that can allow us to
move forward, that can kill imposter syndrome, that can allow you to step up and take ownership, even
if your husband or your partner doesn't support you or doesn't believe so and says, oh, life is
good enough. You should be fine, you should be
happy with where we are. If you're listening to these two amazing girls
you're not happy with where you are and that's okay because being disturbed is
usually what pushes you forward more than just a dream. If you just have a
dream alone that's when you you started the business and you're almost there, you
hit an obstacle, you stopped. You went halfway through the course and you
thought it was good but maybe it was too much for you. Or you said,
you know, I want to get really good on Instagram, but do I do ads? And should I go four days a week
or three days a week? Or should I do, should I do more stories or should I post on the wall? And
should I write the copy? And do I do hashtags? Or maybe I should do Facebook or no TikTok looks
popular. No, no, no. YouTube. I'm going to go on a YouTube channel. I'm going to crush YouTube.
I'm going to go viral. No, that's too much work and I need production. So I'll just do short little one minute.
But do I do it on my phone?
Oh man, this is too much.
Technology is overwhelming.
I'm just going to go back to who I was.
All of that happened because of lack of rituals,
lack of personal development, lack of the right mindset.
Because the strategies on how to get stuff done,
these two amazing ladies can show you most all of them
and other great people out there.
What stopped you is, and I love to say going upstream, what stopped you is an old belief, an old habit, an old ritual
that got in your way, made you feel overwhelmed. You blamed technology. You blamed you were too
young, blamed you're too old. You blamed your partner because they didn't support you. Blamed
that your mom and dad didn't love you as much. And I'm not making fun of any of that. But if you let that continue, let me just fast forward. And then I'm sorry if I'm going long
here, but let me just fast forward. Let me just fast forward. Let's just get real. If you let any
of those stop you on your next journey, how would you like, think about right now, it's five years
from right now. And you're listening to these amazing ladies again, amazing young women just out there helping you and doing everything in their power to support you in every way possible.
But what if it was five years from now and you come back across and you're listening to this podcast and nothing's changed in your life?
You're still hoping for the business, hoping for more freedom, hoping to spend more time with your family, hoping to let that creativity you know has been bubbling up inside of you for the last freaking decade, letting the people around you see the woman
you're made of and who you're supposed to be and who God made you. What would it feel in five years
from now? You're still thinking the same thoughts, doing the same thing. But then I really mess with
myself. Maybe this is just me, but I pretend it's the end of my life. And I do this, again, if this
sounds horrible to you, I'm sorry. But I pretend it's the end of my life and I do this again if this sounds horrible to you I'm sorry but I pretend it's the end of my life and I get a chance to talk to my maker and imagine sitting with your maker and
whether you believe in God I believe in God and you're sitting with God God says so tell me what's
up and he already knows or she already knows right and you're like tell me what's up like well you
know I was gonna do my own thing I was gonna get into the influencer industry and I was gonna help
people because I know how to do this this this or I was gonna share what I know. I was going to get into the influencer industry and I was going to help people because I know how to do this, this, this. Or I was going to share what I know or I was going to create a product.
But you know, my husband never supported me. Sometimes I felt a little bit like an imposter and
I procrastinated. So, you know, life was okay. I mean, it was good. It was good. Could you imagine
looking at God as those words come out that life was good? Could you imagine God just going, I'm
sorry. Somebody just told me
this the other day. Imagine if God showed you the version of you you could have been. Oh, wow.
And you go, oh my God, that was, I don't know if you can see goosebumps on my face,
but imagine God showing you like, I'm so sorry that you didn't because you had so much more
inside of you. You did have that creativity you thought. You did have that energy you thought.
You did have the ability to be a mom and a wife or a partner
and to do your own thing and to start your own business
and to impact other women.
And you had it all in you.
And I'm so sorry you let that belief or that habit hold you back.
I think I would say, oh my God, please, God, please let me go back.
And what if you only get one shot?
I'm sorry to like,
you're probably looking for an immediate habit.
I want to give some of those today.
But I don't care what habit I give you,
what course you buy,
what mastermind you're in,
monthly training, podcast you listen to.
If you let old beliefs and old habits run you,
the same thing will be happening in five years,
10 years, 20 years.
There's no magical money machine. There's no magic wand that's going to fix you. And the last thing I would say is if that
affected you thinking about God showing you the woman you could have been, then what I'm going to
encourage you to write this down right now. You should be disturbed by your inaction. Not disturbed
by the fear, disturbed by who it's holding you back.
You should be disturbed that you're not taking uncomfortable action because there's nothing,
when you want to go from where you are to where you want to be, it's never an easy path. It's
not a greased runway. It's not that everybody celebrates you. Oh my God, Danielle, Natalie,
you guys are doing so amazing. It's so great that you're not going to use your college degree and
you're going to go start your own online. That's not the way it amazing. It's so great that you're not going to use your college degree and you're going to go start your own online.
And when it's perfect, you wouldn't do it, right?
So if you think of your biggest highs in life,
it's usually when you do something you are afraid to do.
You ended the relationship that you needed to be ended.
You ended the partnership, the friendship.
You said yes to something new.
Like those scary things are always the most rewarding
on the other side.
But I want you to be disturbed.
If nothing else, this is like so magical. You're like, I'm but I want you to be disturbed. If nothing else, this is like
so magically, like I'm listening to this podcast to feel disturbed, be disturbed with an action and
don't regret if you made mistakes or failed in the past, or you procrastinated in the past, or you let
a spouse talk you out of it in the past. That's the past, that's yesterday. What if God planned that
for you so you could be here today and say enough's enough I have to say like I really relate to that because that was actually what I went through the fear of not changing was actually the
bigger than like the fear of changing and just being like wow do you know what I don't want my
life to be exactly the same I don't want this to keep going on and I want to change that like that
was a huge catalyst and there's you know my story where it was like you know really sparked off my my dad and there was so much fear going from a brick and mortar business to an
online business like that was terrifying but the thought of being in that brick and mortar business
for another five years and nothing changing that was painful I was like oh my god I can't do that
like that feels so awful so okay now this doesn't seem as scary I'm gonna go for it and I think so
many people kind of get that power like paralysis because they get stuck in that certainty of like, oh, my God, but at least I know this is safe.
But actually, like, when you step out of that and start stepping into who you are, like, that embodiment and that feeling when you do that, there's just like nothing like it.
There's nothing better.
Yeah, and I just want to share, too, you were talking about, you know, if you're listening to this podcast in five years time and you haven't changed or you think about where you want to be.
And I imagine there's probably a few people listening to this thinking, well, I can't get where I want to be in five years.
And I just want to share for me, I mean, we're here together with some of the most talented people in the world.
Like this weekend, it's a total pinch me moment. And I remember two to three years ago, listening to podcasts with the people that I can call friends now, listening to them speak and thinking, wow, like if I could get in a room with them in a few years time, like that would be incredible.
And the fact that it happened in such a short period of time is not because I was fantasizing about being in rooms with them but it was like okay how do I get uncomfortable
how do I really show up and serve the way I know I'm meant to be and and I kind of forgot about
getting in rooms with them it was really about taking a stand for me and where I wanted to be
and the rest came yeah and so for anyone listening who might be feeling like that and you listen to
certain things or see certain people just know that in a couple of years, everything could change.
Absolutely.
So when someone's sitting there and they're listening and they're thinking,
okay, yeah, it really is time for me to take a stand.
What are some of the things that they're going to have to get comfortable letting go of
and stepping into?
Because they're ready.
I can feel it.
They're ready to go, but there's still a little bit of what's at hand.
So I want to answer that question, but maybe think of something that's not my saying.
I've heard it.
But a lot of times when you hear a podcast like this, you're like, I know, and I should have, I could have.
Listen, the best time to plant a tree is 10 years ago.
The second best time is today.
Right?
So let that go.
Let it go.
The time that you could regret is in five years from now when you're starting when you could have started today, right?
So just think of that.
But what we have to let go of, and I know you guys know this, those of you at home listening,
but I promise you what's standing between you and where you want to be is the belief you have about what you have to do to get there
or what you have to sacrifice.
Listen, before you have a parent, before you have a child, I just want to tell you,
you guys could look at someone else having a child
and you see, oh my God, it's so much work.
If you've got to get on a plane,
you've got to take all this extra stuff and diapers.
What if they go to the bathroom on the plane?
What if you run out of diapers?
Like, I remember watching other parents before I had children
and I'm like, impossible.
Why would anyone do that?
It is the dumbest thing in the world.
It's like a puppy times a thousand.
And then you take uncomfortable action. You gain capabilities. You get the nerve. You have a baby and you realize
this is nothing. I love it so much. I would do it a thousand times over. Like babies poop on you,
throw up on you, keep you up all night. And you look at them and go, that's the most amazing thing
in the world. And I'm not trying to compare a business to a child but it's kind of that way when you see someone else speaking on camera doing a
podcast you think oh my god these two were just born with it they're just
natural they're so amazing they're so energetic listen I don't want to just I
want you to know I'm blessed to own 13 companies or started 13 companies and a
multiple New York Times best-selling author and done all these cool crazy
stuff do you know the first time I decided to go from being in the collision repair shop,
having a tow truck and doing apartments? I mean, that's what I did. I hustled and I was being
successful, but Tony Robbins took my money for a course 20 something years ago. And I'm like,
my God, he helped my life after he took my money. I want to be in this knowledge industry. I want to
share what I know because I went from broke and I was doing pretty well since then,
but he shifted my mindset and I exponentially grew, right?
So I'm like, I want to be in that business.
It was the scariest thing in the world.
And I remember this.
I just want you to hear this.
I remember a moment when I got all gung-ho
because I bought his course and I went through the whole thing
and I wanted to do it.
I laid out this course.
I stayed up all night.
Now I'm going to my collision shop to work on cars.
I'm driving.
I have a pager.
That's how long it goes.
If there's a car accident in my town, my tow truck would go get them.
I'd go get them in the middle of the night.
And I'd work on my apartments at night.
Now I'm setting my alarm for 5 o'clock in the morning.
And I'm getting up and I'm typing a course on how to be successful and how to follow what I have.
And I'm like all fired up.
I'm like, I'm doing this.
I'm going for it.
I want more out of life.
And then right before I launched it,
like the imposter just showed up
and that feeling, that pure self.
Let's take a quick pause to talk about
my new favorite all-in-one platform, Kajabi.
You know, I've been singing their praises lately
because they have helped our business run so much smoother
and with way less complexity, which I love.
Not to mention
our team couldn't be happier because now everything is in one place so it makes collecting data,
creating pages, collecting payment, all the things so much simpler. One of our mottos at Boss Babe is
simplify to amplify and Kajabi has really helped us do that this year. So of course I needed to
share it here with you. It's the perfect
time of year to do a bit of spring cleaning in your business, you know, get rid of the complexity
and instead really focus on getting organized and making things as smooth as possible.
I definitely recommend Kajabi to all of my clients and students. So if you're listening
and haven't checked out Kajabi yet, now is the perfect time to do so because they are offering Boss Babe
listeners a 30-day free trial. Go to kajabi.com slash boss babe to claim your 30-day free trial.
That's kajabi.com slash boss babe. And I remember exactly where I was. This is 20
something years ago. I was walking down the street by my grandmother's house
and all my brain was telling me is,
you didn't go to college.
Nobody in your family has money.
You have dyslexia.
The first time you ever tried to be on camera,
I went cotton mouth.
I couldn't speak.
Not like a little dry mouth.
I was like, it was so stuck to the roof of my mouth,
I couldn't speak.
I had to send the whole,
it was a camera crew like we have here.
I had to send everybody home.
And all of a sudden, I'm like, you're a fool. And then I called my sister who I love dearly.
She's amazing and she's successful, but I'm her little brother that she wants to protect. And I
had more success than most people in my little town at that time. When I told her what I wanted
to do, I was looking for reassurance. She said, Dean, you've done so well. This one will cripple
you. You'll go bankrupt. You have no idea what it's like to be on TV. Back then, you've done so well. This one will cripple you. You'll go bankrupt. You have no idea
what it's like to be on TV. Back then, you understand, when I started, we didn't have the
internet. You didn't have the opportunity to gain social media followings through an organic way to
find your ideal client to speak your heart and people want to follow you just because you're
sharing your heart. Back then, it was direct mail or infomercials. So I had to use every dollar I
had plus credit card money and do something I've never done before
I literally had my sister sit me down like an intervention and go enough's enough. She drove from Virginia
She lived in Williamsburg, Virginia. I lived in upstate New York. It's an eight-hour drive
She drove up to sit me down and say enough you should be happy where you are. I can't believe the success
Yeah, I'm so proud of you enough
so my inner self doubt came, then my
sister. And then I talked to my best friend, Mike Messina. And he's like, brother, you've always
been the dreamer and I love you, but that's, that's so far out there. I literally was an inch
away from just saying they're all right. My, my inner, inner self is right. Like they're all the
proof in the world was to do what they thought was right. And what my gut, my, my inner self is right. Like all the proof in the world was to do what they thought was right
and what my gut, my inner self doubt thought.
But the truth is they were all wrong.
They don't make statues of critics.
They don't make statues of the regular ones,
the successful people or the crazy ones, the dreamers,
the ones that go for it.
And here's the opportunity.
Like I'm not just saying this, but you said, what do you have to change?
You have to change the thing that's already cost you too much. When I say the thing, it's the thought. It's the person.
It's the belief. Like I know you've heard all this before.
I'm not gonna pretend I'm sharing something new, but maybe you're for the first time today.
There is a story or a belief that you already have that has already cost you too much.
It's already cost you to play smaller.
Listen, I'm just gonna say something like it is because I have so many women clients.
You know how many women that I see crushing it,
but they tell me they played second fiddle to their husband for 10 years
because they wanted to support his dreams, didn't want to step on his toes,
knew they had more, but every time they brought it up, it was uncomfortable.
So they went back and held it in, and they said they felt stressed.
They had aches and pains in their bodies
because they were holding back who they were supposed to be.
And finally, one day, they said,
that old belief is crap.
I'm not doing it anymore.
That old thinking process,
I can be an amazing wife or amazing partner,
amazing mom, and still be the woman I'm destined to be.
And they feel better.
They look 10 years younger.
And they're like, there is a belief or a story
that's already screwed you over.
And you just got to call it what it is.
It is a lie.
It is an absolute lie.
If I listen to my sister, who loves an absolute lie. If I listen to my
sister who loves me dearly, if I listen to my mom, my best friend Mike Messina, my self-doubt,
I wouldn't be able to impact the lives of millions of people. Be in the room that we were in today,
live in that, like I'm married to the woman of my dreams. I'm having the time of my life, like
more success than I ever imagined possible. Did I struggle to get here? Hell yes. When things went sideways, did I go back and say,
oh my sister was right?
Of course.
But that's part of the journey,
and now that's part of the magic of getting here.
So what do you have to let go?
And again, I wanna talk about strategies
or anything you want, but I just know
that the thing that will cripple you the most,
you get an amazing course from these women
and you're halfway through and you're loving it,
and then all of a sudden
But you know, I've been through courses before I don't this work. Ah the technologies It's kind of tough and I heard that algorithm on Instagram keeps changing and who's gonna follow me and I really don't have that much
To share it only takes like three or four or five of those thoughts to accumulate and it's just enough like a scale with just
An ounce more on one side it tips and you go back to, you know, I should be happy where I'm at.
And no bullshit.
You should not be happy where you are because you won't be happy at the end of your life
when you know there was another version of you that you were capable of and you screwed
it up by letting these little things get in your way.
Find out what that belief is and prove that it's a lie.
I'm getting so revved up on this podcast because i relate to so many of the
things you just said because i was exactly like that with you being part of boss babe i nearly
didn't do it because i literally was like asking people for advice i had a mentor at the time who i
literally thought was absolutely amazing he was so successful i was telling you my family like i'm
doing might be doing this thing i mean bear in mind i'm a chiropractor this thing brick and mortar i
barely use Instagram.
Like, you know, entering this online space.
Everyone's like, what are you doing?
This is wild.
Why are you doing that?
You're never going to succeed.
You already got this.
You don't know anything.
I was so close to not joining Natalie and doing Boss Babe.
Imagine.
Imagine if I had done that.
Okay, so think about this.
Everybody, listen to this.
Think about this.
Think if, at the end of your life,
your maker showed you this pair
and showed you this partnership
and showed you what you did this weekend
and two weekends ago
and the women that you've inspired and helped
and this podcast that gives women power.
All of that, but think of it deeper.
Think of the ripple effect.
How many women's lives have you guys touched?
Imagine if you could see their lives and their families and how they show up for their children.
Do you know how the, I have goosebumps thinking about it. How many people would be different today
because you let the wrong belief show you? And could you imagine if God had the ability to show
you the hundreds of thousands of women and families and children that were all impacted when you stood up to your
fear, you overcame them, you took uncomfortable action, kept moving forward. It's courage, right?
Courage is what? Courage is not taking action in spite of fear. Courage is you're scared to
freaking death and you go forward anyway. But could you imagine being shown that and you were
still a chiropractor and kind of miserable? You'd be oh my god I knew it I'm like and it's like what was on that other
side of that just pressing that button you know like that's what it came down to just that that
I remember just like in this case was signing a contract but just like pressing that button like
okay I'm gonna do this and that fear and that but it just took a little bit I was just like okay
okay I'm gonna do it what's the worst could that happen what's the worst thing that could happen yeah it wasn't that scary yeah and
for me mine is similar but it wasn't just pressing one button it was pressing the same button over
and over again because I started Instagram when Instagram wasn't cool it wasn't cool to be an
influencer it was very misunderstood and I was young and I was pulling
out my phone and I was taking selfies and I was taking pictures of my food and I still remember
to this day I was in a group chat and some of the girls I went to college with were laughing at me
and they were asking why I was doing it and that hurt so much at the time because listen when
anyone gets started on Instagram the only people following you are your friends and family.
We all know that.
And it's very uncomfortable and it annoys me so much when people turn around to me and say, you're so lucky, you're a natural.
You get it all the time.
You're this, you're special.
I'm not.
I was just my phone and repetitively pressing post pressing
post to know that it was college friends laughing at me that it was just my family liking it and
showing up to support me but I knew where I was going because I kept that vision and now I'm you
know people can look and say well you know it's easy or a natural you're here but it takes time
and it takes pushing those buttons whatever they are for you over and over
and over again being consistent with it being willing like I I always tell people like the
goal is not what people say but what if I get judged the goal is not to get judged it's to
just be okay with knowing that's going to happen and yeah and I I tell people often when they get
on social you have to let go of caring you know if they're going to laugh at you you have to know and I still have this now where I'm like you know if someone responds
in this way it's great because I know they're not my people and just having that lens the confidence
piece you were talking about it comes into play because it shakes everything you've got
but when you do it consistently, it changes everything.
Whether you're shifting business hours or hiring more remote employees,
one thing that remains unchanged is the importance of having the right people on your team.
When your business is ready to make that next hire, LinkedIn Jobs can help by matching your role with qualified candidates so that you can find the right person quickly. We have been hiring a lot at BossWeb lately and we always use LinkedIn Jobs. My favorite
thing about it is it puts you in front of really qualified candidates. There's such a high caliber
of candidates on LinkedIn Jobs and it means that your role is getting seen by the right people.
In fact, it's an active community of professionals with more than 722 million members worldwide. It's really easy to get started and there's tons of new features
to help you find qualified candidates quickly. One of my favorite parts is you can post a job
with actual targeted screening questions so that LinkedIn can quickly get your role in front of
more qualified candidates. You can also manage all of the candidates from a single view on linkedin.com as all the functions are streamlined onto one simple screen. You can
also do it from your phone if you're on the go a lot like I am. So if you're ready to find the
right person faster, you can visit linkedin.com slash boss babe to get $50 off your first job
post. That's linkedin.com slash boss babe to get $50 off your first job post. Terms and
conditions apply. Let me ask you something. Chiropractor, right? When you first started
being a chiropractor, were you nervous adjusting someone? Oh my goodness. Okay. Yeah. 100%. I mean,
just to be sure, I feel when you get lots of training during that training process,
learning to do that. Okay. So one, were you nervous? Two, I feel when you get lots of training. During that training process, learning to do that.
Okay, so one, were you nervous?
Two, did you doubt yourself?
Yes.
Okay, as you were trying to get your building, get a partnership, get leases, did stuff go sideways?
Shit go wrong, lack of a better word, right?
Did people let you down along that journey?
Yes.
Okay, did you have some clients that maybe it wasn't perfect, they didn't enjoy the experience?
Yes.
Okay, so basically, crap happened.
Yeah.
If you stayed as a chiropractor, would it have been magical and perfect and none of that would have happened?
Or would you still have dealt with crap?
Yeah.
Always.
Always.
So if you're going to deal with crap, wouldn't it be better to deal with crap and something that fills your soul,
that has the ability to exponentially grow, to do your own thing, to have control, to have freedom.
You guys are here this week.
Is your business still running while you're here?
Yeah.
Okay.
Are you helping women right here, right now, even though we're recording this?
Yeah.
Right?
All of this is happening while you're here.
If you are a chiropractor, you know when you make money?
Yeah.
When you actually adjust someone.
You're in the time and effort community.
So, even though you had your own business, you really were an employee of a company that you happen adjust someone. You're in the time and effort community. So even though you had your own business,
you really were an employee of a company that you happened to own.
Exactly right.
I was an employee of myself.
Of your own company.
And probably didn't pay you the best, right?
No, the boss was terrible.
Yeah, the boss was terrible.
I hated her, right?
So the thing is what most people don't realize is
you're still going to deal with shit, for lack of a better word.
You're still going to doubt yourself.
You're still going to have questions.
You've still got to move forward.
So if you're going to do that over the next five years, why not do it in a place that can fill your heart?
How does it feel when you know you get to impact people's lives by sharing what you know?
It feels incredible.
And I love that you're bringing this up too because I never want to sugarcoat how hard we all work.
Like we were just talking about that at dinner and you were saying when you take on a lot of projects and we all know it's hard work
and you stay up late and you get it done, but you do it in any job. You're going to work hard in any
job. Absolutely. 100% true. But it doesn't feel like work when you own it, when the end result
is impacting people's lives. I mean, that's why I love the knowledge industry, information industry, the self-education industry, the upskill industry, whatever you want to call
it. People sharing what they know to help other people, right? It's this ability to allow people,
you're helping women go faster, right? They could figure it out on their own. That's an absolute
fact. People could figure out what I know on their own, or I could condense the learning curve
because I create courses and programs and training and do challenges,
and it allows people to go faster.
So we get the opportunity to shorten people's learning curve,
to get them to step into their best version of themselves,
and we get to get paid to do it.
I mean, I never feel like I'm working.
You know, there was a saying that I heard for years is,
love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life.
And that seems like, ah, all cliche.
I love what I do. I put more hours in than in your life. And that seems like a whole cliche. I love what I do.
I put more hours in than most people I know.
I love every bit of it.
And I know you guys feel the same way.
Yeah, and I can feel some of our community who are listening.
Maybe you're driving, you're in the bath, wherever you're listening.
You're hearing it and you're getting hyped up.
And then something's probably creeping in saying,
but I don't know anything.
There's nothing I could teach.
I'm learning.
I'm in that phase, which I know I felt and it was only when I started to think about wait I'm doing this one business but people keep asking me the same question over and over and over
again I really ought to be getting paid to answer this question and that was my entry into all of
this so um for someone at home who home who's feeling like that what is
the kind of question they can ask themselves to stop thinking about wait
do I have something I could actually teach it off for the world yes that's a
really great question you know what I like to say is if you had and I know
some people listening are 20 or are younger but think of you had a week to
prepare but really think you're listening right now.
Think.
Let me back up.
Think of what you wore when you were 18 or 20 years old.
Think about that right now.
Think about something like.
Oh dear.
It's pretty scary on my part too.
I think I had like a mock neck black.
I used to wear a gold chain on the outside of my shirt.
Oh dear.
Italian upstate New York 40 years ago, 30 years ago. I bet you thought you were the bomb. Oh my God. Oh, oh, Dean. Italian, upstate New York, 40 years ago,
30 years ago. I bet you thought you were the bomb. Oh my God. I can't even look at a picture.
I literally can't look at a picture. But I want you, for most of you, for most of you,
20 or 18 wasn't that long ago. So think about 18, 20 years old, something you had on, like,
barely visualize yourself. And then think of a place that you would love to sit, whether that
was outside your family's home, in a park down the street, in a mountainous area,
someplace, right? Think about that. And think about if you had a week, you too think about this.
What if you had a week to prepare to spend two hours with your 20-year-old self?
Think about that. What could you share with your 20-year-old self in two hours if you had a week to prepare?
From relationships to how to overcome obstacles to don't believe the BS that lives inside your head.
Your parents love you, but you might not have to listen to them.
Don't beat yourself up so much.
If you're going to sell, do it through your heart.
Do it this way.
If you're going to be an influencer, do this.
Think about what that would be worth.
I've done this on worth. I've done this
on stage. I've done it in virtual stages with 30,000 people. And you know what everybody says?
Priceless or millions, right? If they're looking through the lens of money, it's millions. If
they're looking through the lens of my relationship, my health, it's priceless, right? It's the only
two answers that ever come. So think about it. Like, I'm sure you're thinking of some stuff
right now. Like, I could see the smirks on both of your faces. Like, oh, I know that ever come. So think about it. I'm sure you're thinking of some stuff right now. I could see the smirks on both of your faces like, oh, I know that one thing and that guy
never would have existed and this would have been this and this business would have been that and
all these things. That's what being in the self-education is. There's somebody right now,
as you're listening, starting off, going through something you've already experienced,
whether that's going through a hard time in life, going through an illness, going through something you've already experienced, whether that's going through a hard time in life, going through an illness, going through an end of a relationship, going through a
million different things and you could give the advice and help people have a bridge from
where they are to where they want to go.
Because in a lot of cases when you go through starting a new business, you girls started
a new business, you started first right and then you guys partnered.
You're starting, you're scared, you don't know where to go, you're figuring shit out
on your own, you're trying to get knowledge from other people but some of it is
just grinding and failing miserably but then you find a solution and you stay up all night and you
write it on a whiteboard and you dream this up and everybody tells you you're crazy and you launch
this thing and it works and then you launch the next one and it fails and you, but right now
somebody's starting at day one and they can either fail, stay up all night, make the mistakes, go down
the wrong paths like you do,
like you had in the past, or you could go, hey, I was where you are three years ago, five years ago,
seven years ago, and you could start off where I left off. It took me five years to figure out,
it's 10 years to figure out Instagram the way I do, and you can take the next five years and
figure it out, or I spent the last month building a course that can get you there in a week, right?
But every single one of us has something.
We have a skill, we have an experience,
we have an evolution.
I mean, my partner Tony and I,
we get the opportunity,
we work with thousands of people helping them do that, right?
And we have a lady that I'm just thinking,
she was older and she's like,
I didn't think I had anything to share.
But when she looked through a different lens,
she realized she went through menopause early.
And I'm just going to share it because her name is Cyrene.
It sticks in my head.
And she gained weight.
She had night sweats.
She thought she was crazy.
She thought her husband didn't love her anymore.
And she said she was literally losing it.
And every woman she talked to was like, yeah, I feel the same way.
And no one had an answer for her.
And doctors wanted to put her on certain steroids and medicine. And she just obsessed and
wouldn't accept it. And she read every book, talked to everybody she can. She
stopped the night sweats, lost the weight, looked sexier than ever, felt like a
million bucks. And she's like, I didn't realize that was valuable. Now what she
does is she created a training and a course to help women going through
menopause that don't go through the pain I went through. Follow this.
And she's doing amazing, but she didn't think she had anything, right? I talked to a young girl that's been in music since she was 15. She's 27 years old in music and she was just been singing.
Every time she sings, she gets paid. And she realized she had a gift for helping people.
Now she does online virtual workshops to help helping young people unlock their voice.
She's exponentially grown.
Like everybody has something when you know where to look.
Yeah, and one thing I would say to that as well is lots of people always think
they have to be like experts.
They have to be like, oh, yeah, I have to have 20 years in this one area
or have all these accolades.
And what I actually really discovered is sometimes those people are amazing teachers
and sometimes the person who is just one
or two steps ahead of you isn't even oh my god it's so late so that's one thing i always think
one chapter ahead yeah like you don't have to have 30 years experience to teach something like even
if you just have a year experience sometimes you're like so close to that learning skill that
actually is easier for you to teach back to somebody. Oh my God. Or powerful as well. Yeah. I mean, think about if you're starting on Instagram today compared to if you had one
year every day working on Instagram, would you like to learn from that person who was
a year ahead of you?
Or would you like to spend a year figuring it out?
You know, condense decades into days.
You could condense a year into a course, right?
It's like, it's the fastest way to the end result.
Like learning from your own trial and error is not,
the world's moving too fast.
I mean, the fact of the matter is
that's why the self-education industries,
Forbes says it's gonna be a billion dollars a day.
Why?
Because people are realizing,
I don't have time to figure this out.
And by the time you figure out the 2.0 in today's world,
it's on 3.0, right?
So learning from other people is so quick.
And the other thing is learning from other people's messes so you can avoid going through it.
Yeah, and we're like that.
Anytime we get onto a new platform or we try a new thing, we ask ourselves, who's really good at this?
Who could we pay for consulting?
Who could we buy a course from?
We're not interested in learning how to be experts in every single thing and saving a few dollars here and there.
We want to pay someone that's been there and done it.
And there's so many times we bring our clients to work with us and they tell us what they do.
And we're like, oh, wait, can we pay you?
Exactly.
Because, you know, whether it's trademarks or whatever it is, we can learn something from everyone.
And we always do and and that's
really powerful let's talk quickly about the challenge okay because we talked about the
beginning of the podcast we are partnering up we're going to be delivering some massive value
we can't wait up i mean serena williams i know isn't that awesome the same thing i was talking
about the beginning of the podcast is what i did I even think this would be possible in two, three years?
No, absolutely not.
But we focused on doing what we do best.
And we get to speak alongside Serena Williams now, which is mind-blowing.
And if you're listening, you get to come along and actually listen with us.
So can you tell people a little bit about the challenge and what it is?
Yeah, so you look in a world that shifts and uncertainty goes to an all-time high.
We said that earlier.
And when uncertainty is at an all-time high, your confidence goes down.
Even if it goes down just a little bit, it's really a time, and maybe you're listening, you can resonate with this,
it's a time you kind of go, I think I'm just going to sit here and see where things go.
It's like the book Who Moved My Cheese, really paraphrasing.
It's like the cheese moved
But you're just sitting there going You know what?
I'm just gonna wait for the cheese to come back because you get a little scared the fear goes up a little more
You're not sure where the world's going and I believe we're at a time where people are sitting with their arms crossed and this is
The time where you could actually thrive but you have to own it
Like this is and I got together my dear friend Tony Robbins and it's if you don to own it. Like this is, and I got together with my dear friend, Tony Robbins, and it's, if you don't own your future,
someone else is gonna.
And in a time like this, when the world is shifting,
this is the time to gain capabilities.
This is a time to learn from people
who have owned their future.
And what does that mean?
You're kind of an investigative reporter.
You're exploring a new way, a new industry,
a new way to impact lives, to make money, to create success in
your life. So we decided to do the Own Your Future Challenge. It starts on May 11th and we just
brought, I mean, you girls are there and our mutual friend Jenna Kutcher and Brendan Bouchard and
Serena Williams and Russell Brunson and we just got this great mix. GLOW is coming. Like we got
these incredible men and women coming to show you
how they shifted, right? Especially in this industry, the knowledge industry, right?
None of us were born to be in the knowledge industry. We evolved into it. And we just want
to show people that with some small shifts in your life, learning from people who've already
been there, that were maybe where you are right now, with small shifts, with new capabilities,
and modeling people who have already done it,
they were able to own their future.
And is there any better feeling in the world
that know that you girls, I mean, seriously,
let's just talk about success for a minute.
Success is not what you originally think it is.
You think it's like, yes, I want the money
and the trips and the vacations
and doing what you want when you want is amazing.
But really, when you want is amazing. But really
when you boil it down, success gives you the ability to really tap into who you're supposed
to be, right? I know what success, when I stopped worrying about money, I could go back and work on
the crap that came to me from my childhood and things I ignored and the reason my first
relationship didn't work. And I got to work on being a better man, right? And I didn't know
that's what success was going to bring me. I got to be the dad that I didn't have when I was growing up. I didn't really think that's what success was going to bring me.
I got to look into my wife's eyes and know that I could be this man for her and work on it and get
therapy if I needed it and read books and do things that allowed me to just unlock a better
version of me. And if you asked me in my 20s what success would have meant, none of those would have
been on the list. None of them would have been on the list that success means
to me that I can, my daughter pitches softball and I catch for every time she practices five
days a week, her dad catches for her. I'm getting a little scared now because she's
bigger than me and she pitches 55 miles an hour. She broke my toe, that's why I was limping.
That's why I was walking around. I missed the ball the other day. It snapped my toe. So that's a true story.
But that is my success.
That's success to me.
My son, I go to all of his practices and when my son hits good in practice, there's no other
dads and moms in the stands because it's just practice.
My son looks over and his dad's sitting there and he knows I saw him do that.
That's success to me.
It doesn't mean it's a success to everybody listening But ma'am when you're on the other side and you own your future then you can decide what success means you I wear a great
T-shirt every day of my life that's success to me
I like that right mine's different than everybody else's but we all have our own version of it
But you don't ever get to discover it unless you
Explore take uncomfortable action, own your future.
Cause I just know too many friends that I went to school with as a kid and someone else
owns their life and they're not happy.
Um, I want to build on that own your future piece. Cause I really like think that to own
your future, you need to own your actions and your behavior and your time and like everything
that you do. And I think like that's one thing that I see in all the people around me.
It's not blaming other people for the situations they're in.
It's taking ownership.
And when you take ownership, you are in control of that destiny.
But isn't it the best feeling in the world when it's on you?
If our businesses make it, that's on us.
If it fails, that's on us.
Because when you say own your future, I love the other part.
There's no one
coming to save us yeah there's no elected officials going to put money in our bank account every week
and pay off our bills and everything's going to be perfect that's not the way it works even if
politics make it seem that way it's not the way it goes like we need to take ownership and I think
once you accept that I think it's the most freeing thing in the world. It is. And when you get to that level of accepting and taking on ownership,
it's very funny how you can't be around anyone that doesn't have ownership.
And Danielle and I were just talking about that the other day
where we actually don't have friends in our lives that come to us with,
you did this, you made me feel this, or can you believe they did that to me?
We don't have that.
We have friends that come and say,
oh, I was in this conversation and I got so triggered
this person said this and I realized this part within me
and there's so much ownership and you're like,
that's what I'm attracted to.
Yeah, me too.
That's what I want to be around.
I don't want, the minute I'm around someone
that starts complaining and everyone else is the problem and everything else is the problem, I realize I don't want to be around that person.
And so for everyone listening too, if you want to attract those people in your life, stepping up to that is what attracts those people.
Yeah, and that's why we're doing the Own Your Future Challenge.
We're hoping, I think we're going to get to a million people in this challenge.
So it's definitely something people don't want to miss.
I mean, listen, COVID has given us this opportunity to all these people that were super busy. When you see the lineup in this challenge that are speaking to you for free.
It's mind-blowing.
And not kind of free.
This is an amazing free challenge.
There's no way I could have assembled all these people if it wasn't COVID.
Because they've been all over the world doing their thing, speaking at events. And it'd be like, what do they say that hurting cats?
It'd be an impossible task, but because of this unique situation. So I don't know if this will
ever be available again to go to a five day immersive event with these amazing people,
a couple hours a day and to light up and shift your life so you can own it.
I've actually never seen anything like this. and I think it is because of COVID.
I really haven't ever seen anything like this.
I can't wait.
I'm going to be a student every single day.
So bringing it back to at the beginning,
we were talking about habits.
So let's just say for the woman listening,
she's ready, she's going to be showing up,
she's coming live, she's going to hear all of us speak,
and she's going to bring her A game.
What can she be doing on a daily basis
to show up as her best. Yeah. So
first off, I want you to know that some of the things I've been sharing are my habits.
I have a habit of picturing myself at the end of my life. I have a habit of focusing on solutions.
I have a habit of understanding what success means to me. And I tell myself every day,
because the biggest sales job we have to do in the world is selling ourselves to get up and go
for your dreams and not settle.
If you listen to this podcast, listen to it again.
I literally shared some of my deepest habits today and just didn't realize it.
These are just rituals.
But what I would say before now, whenever you're listening to this until the challenge, it's May 11th.
Make sure you get, there'll be a link in the show notes below.
Awesome.
Make sure you go reserve your spot and bring a friend. Like don't just go.
Like bring someone with you as an accountability partner.
Again, I don't know if there'll ever be an opportunity to learn from such great people at one event ever again.
When the world opens up, it'll be difficult.
And for free.
Like really free.
It's a no-brainer.
Yeah, not fake free.
But I would say one thing you could do between now and then, and this is a habit of mine, I do this on a regular basis, is I analyze all the
things I do on a regular basis, and I decide what things I must say no to. Everybody has a to-do list.
This is probably the biggest game changer in my life, is I make a list of the things I do, and I
figure out what I don't need to do anymore, or I can automate, or I could delegate, or just completely
stop doing, because there's only 24 hours in a day.
We're all equal in that.
So how do you girls do so much in 24 hours?
Because without realizing it, or maybe you do,
you have to say no to the things that don't serve you,
don't serve your bigger future, don't serve God,
or just a habit that you used to do.
So I would say start eliminating,
because I promise you, over these five days,
you're gonna gain capabilities,
you're gonna see, you're gonna have breakthroughs, there's gonna be things you wanna days, you're going to gain capabilities. You're going to see, you're going to have breakthroughs. There's going to be things
you want to do. You're going to need time for it. So if you start saying no now,
don't fill the gaps is what I'd say. Like, oh my God, it's an hour a day. I get online and it's
not productive. I'm just surfing. I'm going to stop that. I'm going to do an hour a week,
right? I binge out on Netflix too much. I'm just using random stuff. I meet my one friend that I've
been meeting for five years, but every time I meet her, she's so negative. I like, I want to run my
car into a pole when I'm done talking to her. Like, maybe I got to limit my time with her.
Like, whatever those things are, if you observe them obsessively, they add up, right? Oh, here's
a half hour here a day, an hour here a day. Oh, I don't need to do this with my bank account. I can
have an automatic withdrawal. I don't have to pay those bills. And hour here a day, an hour here a day. Oh, I don't need to do this with my bank account. I can have an automatic withdrawal.
I don't have to pay those bills.
And all of a sudden, you start obsessing on this.
I do it on a monthly basis, and I keep saying no to stuff
because I want to find more time for the things I love,
my family, my businesses, my friends.
So I would say obsessively make a list on what you could say no to
between now and May 11th because when you have an opportunity
to do something different, that space will be opened up up and you can spend it on you 3.0.
I love that so much.
So for everyone listening, the link is in the show notes below.
It's also bossy.com forward slash own it.
What's the one thing you're most excited about learning in the challenge?
Because I know I've spent enough time with you to know that no matter who you're in a room with, you've got your notebook out.
You were learning from everyone.
So what are you most excited to learn um you know seeing the variety of people that we have right especially and i'm not saying this because i'm on your podcast
but over the last couple of years uh the last year especially the challenges that we've done
have been over 65 women and we're just watching this dynamic of women's creativity coming out and finally having an outlet.
So I think having Serena Williams and you guys and Shailene Johnson and GLOW and all these great women, I think I'm just going to see more of how do we communicate.
Like the truth is, as a man trying to empower everybody equally, I want to learn more if I'm missing something in the dialogue.
If I'm missing, if I'm using a word,
you should start your own business and crush it.
And I should be saying it's time to be creative and flow.
I want to know the different terminology,
the different flow that speaks into people's hearts.
So I would bet the number one thing I'll take away
is communication skills
and the people that really resonate with the audience.
I love that so much.
So last question before you go.
What are two or three things that you do in a morning that completely set you up for the
day that's a non-negotiable?
True.
Wake up and not look at my phone first.
Okay.
And I still mess it up.
I still mess it up sometimes.
But when I don't look at my phone, it doesn't put me in a reactive space because you look
at your phone and go, oh, that didn't go through.
And all of a sudden, your nervous system is in defense.
And I like playing offense.
One, not look at my phone.
Two is before I get out of bed, I just want to think of one thing I'm grateful for.
Now, everybody says it.
But sometimes it's like we look at the big things.
I'd say lower the bar.
Like, be grateful you woke up.
150,000 people a day pass away.
You go Google it.
You woke up.
Imagine if the bar was so low that you're just happy that you woke up
or happy that the sheets feel good or happy that your pillow was comfortable
or you got more than six hours sleep.
Just put your mind in it.
You don't look at the phone.
One thing grateful.
The third thing I'd say is think back to the day before
and one thing that was a win or you accomplished
because as humans, all we do is think about,
man, I should have got more done yesterday. What didn't't I do our brain wants to think about what we didn't
do so I force myself to go you know what yesterday I accomplished this that was pretty amazing and
then one thing you want to accomplish that day so no phone one thing of gratitude one win from the
day before and one win you want that day you're in I love it and it's all before you get out of bed
yeah I love that it all takes like three minutes I love it. And it's all before you get out of bed. Yeah. I love that. And it all takes like three minutes.
I love that.
Dean, thank you as always.
Thank you so much.
I have learned so much
every single time we speak.
I learned so much
and I can't wait to learn from you.
Wow, this was awesome.
You guys are amazing.
Thank you.
Thanks, Dean. Thank you.
