A Boss Babe is unapologetically ambitious and paves the way for herself and other women
to rise, keep going and fighting on. She is on a mission to be her best self in all areas.
It's just believing in yourself, confidently stepping outside her comfort zone to create
her own version of success. Welcome to the Boss Babe podcast, a place where we share with you the real behind the scenes of
building successful businesses, achieving peak performance and learning how to balance it all.
I'm Natalie Ellis and I'm your host for this week's Boss Babe Business School episode.
So I was just having a conversation with a friend and I thought, you know what,
I actually need to run back home, turn on my microphone and share this exact same conversation with our podcast community.
And the reason is I kind of think of myself as your business best friend.
So the person that is constantly prompting you and asking you questions to help you keep
figuring out what your path looks like, because I know those friends in my life make such
a difference. And
it's always so interesting when my friends are talking about what they're doing in their business
and the things that they're thinking about, because it gets me thinking about what I need
to be looking at and gives me ideas that I may not have thought of or pushes me in certain
directions that I might not have even thought were open to me. And so hopefully this episode can serve as that for you as we are entering Q4, you know, we're starting to wrap up
the year and we're going into 2023, which is just mind blowing. And you're probably in a place where
you're like, okay, I've got a couple months now left to really hit my goals and to start next
year strong. And all of us know success next year isn't
going to start in January. You don't want to be starting January with a blank piece of paper
and thinking, okay, where do I go from here? What's next? What's happening? The more that we
can pre-plan, the better things are going to be. So a couple of things that I want to talk to you
about in a way to help you plan
the rest of your year and then start to think about what next year is going to look like is
just asking you some questions, letting you know what we're thinking about at Boss Babe and then
hopefully this inspires something in your business that you can take action on. So right now we are
currently finalizing a lot of our Black Friday, Cyber Monday promotions,
anything that we're going to run in the holidays. And then we're thinking about January, February,
and March. So when it comes to Black Friday, Cyber Monday, one thing that we have always
committed to at Boss Babe is we never discount anything. And the reason is we never want someone
to have bought something from us and then see it
cheaper two months later and feel really bummed that they decided to buy from us. We never want
that to happen. And so we've never, ever discounted anything after the fact. We discount something
when we first launch it, because then it means the people that get in, they're getting the best
price. And we have always committed to that. And it's one of those values we've had from
the beginning because me and Danielle as consumers, we hate that if we decide to make an investment
in something, then we see it cheaper. It kind of feels like, does that company really value me in
my business? Because it doesn't feel like it. And so that's a value we've had. Doesn't mean that's
a value you've had. But when it comes to Black Friday Cyber Monday something
that we're always thinking about is okay if we're not taking away value we're not taking away the
price of it we're not reducing it where can we be adding value where can we be maybe creating
something brand new that people will get for the first time on that promotion weekend they'll get
it at a cheaper price than everyone else or how can we add value to what currently exists and all of our previous clients can get access to
that but then anyone that's enrolling on that weekend they'll only get access to it that weekend
and then the promo stops so that's what we're thinking about and something that we are toying
with is the idea of doing a live workshop as something that we might sell over
that time. And that's going to be probably a smaller workshop where me and Danielle can jump
in and teach live and get to know our community, just because it feels like we're really craving
that we're missing getting that FaceTime with people. And so that's something that we're
thinking of doing. So we're firming up what that's going to look like, mapping out, you know, what's our messaging,
what's our deliverables going to look like?
What do we need to do on the tech side?
What does our team need to be aware of?
What are our financial goals?
How are we going to promote it?
And that's really, really important to do ahead of time.
Because if you just drop something on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, without really thinking
about it, your audience might not be in a place where they're even primed to buy and so it's really important that you start thinking about
that stuff ahead of time. And then you've also got holiday promo coming up. Let's take a quick
pause to talk about my new favorite all-in-one platform, Kajabi. You know I've been singing
their praises lately because they have helped our business run so much smoother and with way less
complexity, which I love. Not to mention our team couldn't
be happier because now everything is in one place so it makes collecting data, creating pages,
collecting payment, all the things so much simpler. One of our mottos at Boss Babe is simplify to
amplify and Kajabi has really helped us do that this year. So of course I needed to share it here
with you. It's the perfect time of year to do a
bit of spring cleaning in your business, you know, get rid of the complexity and instead really focus
on getting organized and making things as smooth as possible. I definitely recommend Kajabi to all
of my clients and students. So if you're listening and haven't checked out Kajabi yet, now is the
perfect time to do so because they are offering boss babe listeners a 30-day free
trial go to kajabi.com slash boss babe to claim your 30-day free trial that's kajabi.com slash
boss babe so some people choose to do this some people don't choose to do this you can do promo
throughout the whole of december if your product is something that people are thinking about buying
around that time maybe you have a product or a service that people like to gift.
Maybe it's something that they buy in order to set themselves up for January.
So I'd really be thinking about what your holiday promotion is going to look like
and then factor into that, how are you structuring that around your lifestyle?
Because it's all well and good having business goals and making money in your business.
But if you're miserable and you're chained to your desk during all of the important holidays lifestyle because it's all well and good having business goals and making money in your business.
But if you're miserable and you're chained to your desk during all of the important holidays when you'd rather be doing something else, then is that really success? So for us at Boss Babe,
we always give our team two weeks off over the holidays. We call it light mode. So if things
are essential that need to get done, if a certain email needs to get sent or an urgent email needs
answered, then those things will get taken care of. But it's just very, very light work,
dipping in and out, maybe checking your phone at 4pm just to check there's no fires. And our whole
team has those two weeks off over the holidays. And it's completely separate to their general
holiday allowance, which is also super generous. And the reason that we do that is, you know, as entrepreneurs,
me and Danielle both want to enjoy our time. We want to enjoy our holidays with our families.
And we don't think that should be any different for our team, the people that work with us.
So that's something that we do. We do light mode. So for us, we're always thinking about
what do we need to do in the business to ensure we can take that time off and we can step back and we can get a chance to spend time with family and replenish and feel good. So that's also something
that we're planning now because if we want to take that time off then preparation is key and we
certainly can't just decide mid-December okay I'm going to take the rest of the month off, it wouldn't
work like that and then again we're planning for January, February, and March.
Because if we leave that to January, we're going to be starting the year on the back foot.
And that is something we never ever want to do. We want to always come out the gate swinging
every single year. I believe how you start the year is an indication of how you're going to end
it. And how you end the year is an indication of how you're going to start it, right? So that's
really, really important for us to be planning, to be thinking of ahead of time and so we already know exactly
what our promotion schedule looks like for January February March we have some travel locked in there
for me having a baby she comes everywhere with me so does my husband so having that travel booked
way ahead of time is also really important. And you're going
to hear it here first. We haven't actually talked about this anywhere else, but me and Danielle
also going to be doing something separately. So Danielle is going to be running something
on her end and I'm going to be running something on my end. And it's going to be the first thing
that we've ever done separately. More on that to come, but that's going to be really kicking off
in the new year as well.
We'll talk to you about it on the podcast and things like that. You'll get to find out what's happening, but all of these dates need to get in the calendar and we need to be well ahead of time.
And if we've got any promo slots that we're selling to partners or we're noticing, hey,
we're a little bit light in March, I think it's going to be really hard to hit these revenue
numbers. Then we're already thinking about what that looks like. So that when we open up our laptops at the beginning of January, feeling
refreshed and well-rested, we're not looking at kind of a blinking cursor, but we know exactly
where we're going and what needs to happen. So hopefully this episode has just started to get
you thinking, started to get your wheels turning about what the rest of the year
is going to look like for you and then what you can be doing in order to set yourself up for
success. And while you're doing this, you know, this time of year is a really good time to get
your head down and focus. And so you might start to question, is this meeting essential or could
it just be a loom? Could it be a couple of emails back and forth? Is this social event or something
I'm flying to
something that I really want to do or could I just take it off my calendar entirely and focus on
things that are going to help me take the time off of the holidays with my family because all of that
starts now I know we might think that the holidays are quite far away but they're really not and all
of that preparation starts now so maybe that means taking things off of
your calendar or putting things on your calendar that you know you need to get done. So hopefully
