A boss babe is unapologetically ambitious and paves the way for herself and other women to rise,
keep going and fighting on. She is on a mission to be her best self in all areas. It's just
believing in yourself. Confidently stepping outside her comfort zone to create her own vision of success. Welcome to the Boss Babe podcast, the place where we share
with you the real behind the scenes of building successful businesses, achieving peak performance
and learning how to balance it all. I'm Danielle Canty, your host for
this week's episode and I'm actually really excited for you to be joined by my OG coach,
Nick Pigeon. So back in 2016, 2017, I was feeling totally lost. I was looking for a way to create
more financial freedom for myself, more location freedom for myself, and just generally have my
own power back around creating the life that I wanted to lead. And a Facebook ad was served to me
by Nick Pigeon and I jumped on a call with her. It was called a breakthrough call.
And in that call, the whole trajectory of my life changed. She taught me ways that I could
skill up, ways that I could not just create new skill sets in my life, but then I could sell it outside of being a chiropractor.
So this is an episode for you if you are looking for a new skill set. As we head into this economic
change and this different economic climate, the ones who succeed and the ones who come out the
most successful are the ones who double down on their skill sets, the ones who invest in themselves
and the ones that really understand ways to make themselves more valuable. So if you are ready for
this, make sure you grab a paper and pen
and listen to this week's episode with Nick Pidgeon. Okay, so a lot of people don't know
this, Nick, but in 2017, you were my first ever life coach. I love it. Really, I should just be
thanking you for all the success that followed in my life. Wild, right? Wild. What a story.
And I want to talk about this today because I feel like
changed my life. I feel like it changed your life for different reasons. But as a someone who
received life coaching at such a point in their life, it absolutely changed the trajectory on
the which I was heading and allowed me to enter an online world I knew absolutely nothing about
because for those
who don't know, I was actually a chiropractor at the time. And so I want to talk to you today
about the power of coaching and why people should really consider becoming a coach or
getting a coach during this time, particularly as we head into a new economic climate.
I feel like coaching gets a bad rap sometimes as well, but it's really such an opportunity for us to find fulfillment within ourselves, but also do work that impacts other people's lives as well.
And in times of change, so in times of downturns in economy, even through COVID, like there's such an opportunity for us to, first of all, deepen our own personal practices.
Secondly, re-skill, skill up, get new tools,
learn again, like prepare ourselves,
get a new leading edge.
And then also remember that there's never been a better time to be an entrepreneur
and there's never been a better time to be a coach.
Oh my God, I love this.
And you just said something there,
which I always, always like talk about.
I'm like, people can take anything away from you, but they actually cannot take away what's in your head. And when you like invest in yourself in education and you invest in yourself in. Well, you know, it really is. So like, let's start
before like we dive into a little bit more, but let's talk about like, what is coaching? Because
I also think there's a big difference that people don't understand between therapist,
a coach and a mentor. Yeah, for sure. So coaching, I always think about coaching as the ability to ask powerful questions, to elicit a response, transformation,
breakthrough result in, with, and for a student or a client.
I think of mentorship as slightly different.
So mentorship I think of as more teaching from experience.
So if you were going to teach someone how to build an online business, for example,
you might be more
in the mentoring space where you share like here's the strategy that we use to do this and this is
how you can do it too if you were coaching you might ask a question instead and you might say
for example okay if you were giving yourself this piece of advice like what would you be telling
yourself to do so I feel like that's a little bit of a distinction between those two things. And
you can do both interchangeably. So in the last more than a decade, which makes me feel really
old, in the last more of a decade of coaching and mentorship, I've kind of danced between the two,
because I feel like both are very, very powerful. So I I want to I know how coaching impacted my life so for
those who don't know I'm going to tell a quick story so basically in 2017 I was a chiropractor
and I was actually 2016 I was really really lost and knew that because of my dad's skiing accident
I wanted to take things online I wanted an online business that gave me freedom, which gave me freedom of location,
but also freedom financially and freedom of time versus being in my chiropractic office day in,
day out. And I also recognized to grow and scale a chiropractic office needed a lot of capital,
whereas I was realizing and understanding that online was like very, very different at that
point. And so funnily enough, like I kind of dabbled in a
few things at certain points and then in 2017 I got served an ad from you which was through like
a breakthrough session and so I jumped onto this breakthrough session with you and it was literally
mind-blowing you took me through a process and I remember thinking, oh my goodness,
like I have to work with this woman because she's basically unlocking in me the things that I want
to discover next. And I've often thought about that call, like I was completely cold, like I did
not know who you were, like I actually was not warm in your audience at all or warm in that pipeline. Yeah, I actually invested $10,000 on that call. And that was a significant, like I was only
earning 7,000 pounds at that time. So that was my whole like month's wages effectively. But the
reason I did it was because you so understood this skill set you needed to take me through that
journey, which you did successfully. And because I went through that journey which you did successfully and because I
went through that journey with you on that call I could see where my future could go and I knew
that you could help me on that journey so I wouldn't I would love for you to share like your
journey and becoming a positive psychologist and what that's looked like for you and then how you've
helped people on their journeys like me it's interesting because I wasn't actually down to be a positive psychologist
originally just like you had like a major career swerve I experienced the same so I was supposed
to be a mechanical and automotive engineer which is just completely bonkers. And I witnessed firsthand, like, and had an experience of
understanding the true power of human behavior and the power of mindset work to affect that.
So my ex-partner was a professional cricket player and we were together when I was really
young, kind of like 17 years old. And he was seeing a sports psychologist at the time where
he'd been in this session and he came back and he said, Nick, like I had this crazy session with a
psychologist. And he said to me, when you're out on the cricket pitch and you've got the bat in
your hand, don't look at the fielders that are around you, look for the gaps in between them
instead. So from that one conversation, I was like, oh my goodness, like
how often do we focus on what's going wrong, arguments that we've had with people, judging
ourselves and others, the bills that we've got to pay, what's not working and what might be possible
if we focused on what was working and the opportunities instead. So that was like a
landslide moment in my life at such an early age,
where I really had to listen to this intuition that was coming through. And you know, like you
felt it when you decided to take that leap and kind of invest in yourself. It's like that feeling
of like, oh, like there's something different here. There's something more here. There's something
that's possible for us here. So I decided to cancel my degrees and
go through clearing in the UK and go on to study psychology with sports science and then do a
teaching and lecturing qualification and then go on to do a master's in positive psychology as well.
So positive psychology is literally the signs of success and the signs of happiness. So I get to work in this amazing field every single day where we teach the evidence-based tools to help unlock new levels of performance and potential.
And it works in individuals. So it works for ourselves. It works in communities. It also
works in businesses, organizations, and in the client coach relationship as well.
So basically you can apply
and this is what I think is really cool about it my situation was going from being a businesswoman
in the UK as a chiropractor but wanting to go online and you helped me but in the cohort that
I was with there were like women doing all kinds of stuff but you were able to apply the same tools and practices to help them all and that's
what i think is so smart about this like it actually helps everyone go on their own individual
journeys but the same things were applied to each and every single one of us and still like we just
got back from trinidad and you were like coaching me on some stuff as well and it's still the same
tools that get to be used just apply to different aspects of
your life so you went down that route and like you say you studied a master's in this etc like
how what kind of journey have you been on building your own practice if you like and really helping
women go on is it just women that you work with or women and men like going on this journey
to help them achieve the certain goals that they want to in their lives it's primarily women but I also work with men
I actually have a lot more men that I work with and I love both I've just found that naturally
it's like women have gravitated towards us but it's literally for anyone and this is you're
right in what you say like it doesn't have to be a different tool all of the time because we're
always continually evolving and growing as well so you pick be a different tool all of the time because we're always continually
evolving and growing as well. So you pick up a proven tool from positive psychology,
which has been tried and tested across different populations, different timelines,
and proven to work with statistics and evidence. And you take it and you use it and it can
literally create a breakthrough and that powerful transformation and lasting change. So I think for me, the first step of my journey, and we
teach this as well through everything that I do, it's like, you've got to learn it for yourself
first. So I did my university study, but then I also embodied the learning. So you can conceptually
understand something, but unless you're practicing it on and
for yourself, you don't really feel it. And you're not having that understanding that moves through
your body as well. So I had a really, really tough time back in kind of 2012, 2014, where I had a lot
going on in my personal world, where I was forced to put the tools of positive
psychology to the test. So I'd learned them and I'd been using them to kind of go from good to
great, which is what post psych does. But then I also really had to go deep within myself to
apply them in times where things didn't feel great when it was really, really hard.
So what were some of the favorite tools that you've utilized so the thing with positive psychology is you've probably heard
about a lot of the practices before like meditation or like gratitude or like hope mapping for goal
setting or like being more optimistic and visualizing the difference with positive psychology is we actually run the tests on the tools to see what works and doesn't work.
So we have very specific ways of doing things that we know are proven to help.
Whereas with general life coaching, for example, there's the tools there.
But really what psychology gives is this scientific backing
and the scientific grounding. So back at that time when I was really struggling,
I was leaning on tools like meditation and tools like gratitude. Now, if I'm looking at
supporting a client with a future focus, for example, we might look at something like a hope
map, which is a six intervention that is proven to help you reach your goals more quickly
okay it's talk to me about this I love a goal I know right you'll love it the Virgo in you will
love it so they basically looked at what it takes to not just set a goal but actually reach it so
you know sometimes you get excited at the start of the year or the start of the quarter,
like I'm going to do these things and then for one reason or another you miss the mark.
It's because there's two things that are often missing from your process.
So the hope map walks you through, first of all, identifying what the goal is that you want to work on.
Secondly, identifying multiple different pathways.
So in POS Psych, there's something called divergent thinking theory, which gets us off that place of like, is this, I need to figure it out.
Is this the right thing to do? Is this the only way? And when we're trying to force or figure things out or look for the number one way, we actually end up getting very stuck. So you can
ask the question, okay, this is the goal. What are five different ways you can reach it? Or what are
10 different ways that you can reach it?
Now you're in a positive emotional state and place where it's like fun and it's in the
flow and it's creative and you come up with better ideas.
You're focused and you can solve problems more easily.
We're then asking the question, what issues or obstacles might come up?
And then we're asking, what are the pathways through the obstacles?
So those four questions can give you a lot of runway when it comes to reaching your goals. The two things that
people often miss out is number one, why? So why do you want to reach the goal in the first place?
And as soon as you can attach that meaning and purpose to it, the easier it is for you to reach
it. And then secondly, who can support you? So just like coming to work with you or coming to work with myself, a coach or a in your life at any given point like I've
had periods where I haven't had coaches and I've never ever made the same amount of improvement
as I have as to when I have had coaches in my life like because like you say you have that safe space
and sometimes it's really hard to you know entrepreneurial journey is really difficult like there's ups and downs and sometimes it's like you need someone to kind of like pull
you back up again and remind you on your mission or just hold space for you to vent and that's not
always appropriate for be family members or friends or you know colleagues etc and so I think
creating that safe space and then also that structure around it really kind of sets like you apart from
you know someone who isn't actually willing to invest in themselves and do the things like by
investing in yourself you're really betting on yourself like okay I know I'm ready for more I
know I'm worthy for more and my mindset is worth this investment it's kind of like a gym membership
I always think too like it's like you know you're only going to be as successful as you'll be mentally and physically
capable of being and we all need trainers at certain points in our lives whether it's like
a physical trainer or like a doctor looks after you physically like I feel like coaches mentors
and positive psychologists like they look after like your mental well-being and actually help you
get like those goals that you need to as well so let's take a quick pause to talk about my new favorite all-in-one platform Kajabi. You know
I've been singing their praises lately because they have helped our business run so much smoother
and with way less complexity which I love. Not to mention our team couldn't be happier because now
everything is in one place so it makes collecting data, creating pages, collecting payment, all the things so much
simpler. One of our mottos at Boss Babe is simplify to amplify and Kajabi has really helped us do that
this year. So of course I needed to share it here with you. It's the perfect time of year to do a
bit of spring cleaning in your business, you know, get rid of the complexity and instead really focus
on getting organized and making things as smooth as possible. I definitely recommend Kajabi to all of my clients and
students. So if you're listening and haven't checked out Kajabi yet, now is the perfect time
to do so because they are offering Boss Babe listeners a 30-day free trial. Go to kajabi.com

I understand like the positive psychology aspect and, you know, having been on the receiving
end of it and also witnessed the amount of training that you have been doing.
I want to talk about scaling up during this time because we're heading into, well, we're
in a recession and really at this point, I like most people most average people are putting the
brakes on stuff and that is absolutely the opposite of what you should be doing right now like this is
the time if ever there was time that you needed to invest in yourself and to bet on yourself like
that is in a recession when you really need to be doing that and you know just as we spoke about
skilling up is how you set yourself apart.
Like if we think about where money is gonna go,
it's gonna go to the best of the best.
And so you need to make yourself the best
so that you can, you know, not weather this,
but come out like on top.
Because actually all that happens in a recession
is really a lot of money is changing hands.
There's still plenty of money out there.
And so I wanna talk about what it looks like to skill up as a positive psychologist why people should do that and what career
opportunities that actually opens up for people as well for sure and I literally have chills because
I'm so excited for this time because this is an entrepreneur's market it really is there's like so much opportunity and I'm like let's go like
let's do this and I think it is an opportunity for us to empower ourselves with the understanding
that we can do more we can be more we can create more and this like you say is the perfect time to
do that because whilst a lot of people are making themselves small entrepreneurs, it's like, we've got so much power and potential and we see time
and time again, this is just a cycle. That's all it is. It's just an economic cycle. It's going to
come good again, but we see in the downturns in the market, this is when we get the opportunity
to really thrive and prosper. So by you choosing to take on new skills
or take on new learning or set up a coaching business
or double down on your coaching practice
where you get to retool with a new modality
that is backed in science, that is proven,
it gives you more certainty
in a time where there's less certainty around.
It gives you more confidence, whether
that's within yourself, within getting client results and breakthroughs, or being able to go
out there and sell. And I think that's something that whether we're in a recession or not in a
recession, it's so important for us to have. I know that just like my dad saying with GCSEs,
no one can ever take it away from you. I felt that every single time I've accessed a new level within myself and within my coaching and business, whether it has been
getting a master's degree, or now I have three or four coaching certifications on top of that,
whether it is being able to trust yourself more through having proven tools. I think the stronger
we can build that inner scaffolding
within ourselves and then within our companies as well with the tools that we're able to have
access to, the more that we can support ourselves to transform our own lives. But importantly,
the more that we can help our clients and students to do that too.
I know you said two things that have really hit home to me like one whenever you are investing in tools like this it actually helps yourself you become a student of your own work and I think there's something really powerful that happens when you are skilling up in a way that is around positive psychology or is in a way of like mental well-being because you almost you you have a better toolbox not only for your clients to reach into but for yourself to reach
into and you and I we've been through some like hard times like individually and I feel like
because we've had those things and you more so than me like I don't have any certifications in
positive psychology but like I feel like those and I've watched you navigate a lot of stuff and
I'm like wow Nick how are you like how are you like navigating this situation you're like oh I'm doing this every day I'm doing that every day so I think there's one there's a
benefit and your own mental health but then also like it actually has given you a vocational
like role like you can give yourself a job any single day and I think that's what's really cool
and as we go into you know a recession like a lot of people are like okay how am I gonna get paid like how am I gonna what if I get let go of for my job or what if I
how am I gonna get that pay rise or how to get this like you're relying on other people to give
you those opportunities versus when you have a coaching certification you have this like
like ability to actually go I don't need anyone else to give me an opportunity i can create
the opportunity for myself like i remember when we were in like was it like 2019 when we did our
events we were like right we need to like raise like we need to do this like let's put some events
on in new york and london and like i never forget that being that position to be like oh I'm actually in control of
my own destination I'm in control of the money that I make and that was because of entrepreneurship
and also because you know the certification that you had as well was like really enabled and
empowered a lot of things that we were teaching from stage as well. So cool, right? So cool. So cool. I just think as well, it's like, it gives us the opportunity to help ourselves,
but also help other people. So when you're thinking about how can I make money? It's like,
how can you help somebody else and know that when you're helping other people create transformation,
you're always going to be successful the things that
create money in life and when you're solving people's problems and helping people like I
feel like that was also one of the biggest hurdles that I had to get over for like my own
money mindset as a kid like I got brought up thinking like oh money is like evil like money
like rich people have like done something nasty versus like, well, actually, you know, like a lot of the time, like particularly new money, like it's bread and it comes out of people solving problems well
for people. And the most successful people that I know now around me have actually just done
amazing businesses that have helped people. Like if I think about even like Jamie Kern Lima,
she sold It Cosmetics to L'Oreal for like 1.2 billion, right? The reason it was so huge was because
everyone else in the business and beauty industry was going after what was traditionally beautiful.
Like, oh my goodness, you know, beauty models look like this. They look like this. So she was like,
no, I, I am a beauty model. Like I have rosacea and I need to fix this problem. And that would
became a billion dollar business because she was fixing a problem that most women actually needed her to fix and no one else was
brave enough to do it and the same thing with like you like I see your business and flourishing and
it's because you go out of your way to help other people either have the tools so that they can have
the positive ripple effect and help other people or because you're directly working so well with
the clients that you have and you're changing their lives like you literally changed my life like I honestly
would not be part of boss babe if it wasn't for you I would never have met Natalie I never would
have gone to Brendan's event like I literally never would have even and I remember even talking
to you about boss babe at the time and you introduced me to a guy and he was telling me
not to do it and then you were like no I think you should and like that whole like I was like not even gonna do it can you remember that I can
literally remember that exact conversation yeah literally amazing but you like gave me the faith
because and I think that's also like when you have that impact and you what you put out into
the world of a big believer is like what you kind of receive back I
do think there's such a thing as karma and so I yeah I think it's really really powerful so
I would love for you to share a little bit about your your certification like why did you decide
to build it and what is involved in it well the reason that I first decided to go into positive psychology and to build a certification
in that space is really seeing the problem that exists.
And certainly through COVID as well.
Like I have loved seeing mental health and mental health awareness become mainstream.
Because when I started in positive psychology, I was a weirdo.
Everyone was like, what is this thing? It's so strange. You want to talk about like wellbeing and like
happiness and health. And I'm like, yeah, I do actually. And it's taken a little bit of time,
but now like we have features in places like Goop and in Forbes and Men's Health and Women's Health
and people are listening now and they're starting to understand the importance of looking after our wellness and well-being so I'd been in I mean I've been
running businesses since 2010 in the health and well-being space and been practicing as a positive
psychologist since then and noticed this real opportunity for people to get certified in the
science whilst you can't get certified as
a positive psychologist, unless you go and do a PhD or a master's, we have developed a really,
really sick framework that is proven to create client transformation and really get results.
And we noticed that as well as there being this need for more people to be activated,
to be able to help people improve their wellbeing and mental health, we also noticed that there
was nothing out there that really covered all of the bases from being a really good
positive psychology-based certification to being something that's grounded in really
powerful ethical coaching and having the business acumen and the business knowledge integrated
within there as well so positive psychology is usually taught in a certain way and it's like
here's the tools go and use them but we found this question around how do you use them with clients
how do you actually take what's given in a research article or a journal and then make
it so that it works for people in their busy lives every day?
So because I've been doing this for so long and I've got more than a decade of personal
practice and working with clients, we're like, actually, it needs to be done in this
framework where we're looking at learning, embodying and integrating.
So we have people from all walks of life and all different disciplines,
whether it's HR or it's business people or it's people who work in digital marketing or it's
spiritual coaches. And we're able to support through what's called the promise, which is
the positive results oriented method of integrating the science effectively so developed a framework good right
I love a name that's that's a good one I like that so that is the framework that we teach it's
eight pillars of positive psychology in a framework that's able to be taken away and taught as it is
or integrated with other areas of life and business so we say that positive psychology
coaching and the
certification is really for three types of people. It's for the new coach that wants a framework
that's like, Nick, how do I do this? Like, I don't know, like you can come and just be starting out,
get a solid proven framework that you can go away and you can use straight away.
It's for the experienced coach that wants a new scientific modality that
they can say I'm certified in this thing. And then the third person that it's for is for someone
that's in a completely unrelated industry. So we have barristers, we have HR execs that wants to
add coaching or positive psychology into what they do, whether it's to grow a team or whether
it's for the personal transformation. Yeah. Cause I can imagine the impacts and leadership of a team or whether it's for the personal transformation yeah because I can imagine the impacts and leadership of a team are really profound yes so we run a well-being first company
in our business and we have everything integrated we really believe in like doing what we teach and
walking the walk so our team is like we have the last week of the month off zoom so that's a well-being focus and
we're always asking the question like how can we have better days at work so it really does
I always say with positive psychology and it runs the risk of sounding like a cult
but it's like you're not just getting a certification or learning a science
you're actually embodying a whole new way of living and being that means life is always going
to be better because you've got these tools yeah because I can imagine that you know we're all
experiencing the world from our own I think Joe Dispenza says your personality is your personal
reality and the point is like depending on like your personality you're experiencing
the world around you in your own way and so your highs and your lows are subjective right
and so if you're investing in the skill set of really understanding like okay the positive
psychology and overall you're generally more optimistic about things your lows are not
going to be as deep as somebody else's because you're kind of shifting like your whole thermostat
upwards and I also do think as well just like I'm just thinking this through because
not only when that happens do you generally feel better but then if you do add in the law of
attraction too and we know that the more positive you are as a person,
the more, you know, higher vibrational frequency things that you attract,
being one of them, love being another, like all these other things. So I could see really like
the positive ripple effect that it can, that can have. So when people come through and they're
like, okay, I'm ready. like I'm a new coach and I
want to have maybe a side hustle I want to be having another skill so maybe I'm getting let
go of my job or maybe I'm just like time want to have like I was like I want to start an online
business want to start something you know new or maybe if they are like say an existing coach or
perhaps they're just somebody in a career who's like you know what so they get real competitive out here right now and I need to be like better than everybody else so I'm ready
to take that investment what does that process look like for them like what does what does it
take to become you know getting certified in this so it takes first of all for you to start
like I always say that it's like you have to just get in the game
to be able to create the transformation and something that's interesting for me that I've
learned through running so many cohorts of the certification are that people often come to work
with us because they want the certainty within themselves and they want the piece of paper that
says I'm certified they want to be able to get better results for themselves, their clients and their business. But actually what they end up
saying is that it was worse coming to do the coaching certification for the personal transformation
alone. And when we look at the positive ripple effect that you're talking about, that actually
has also been studied in the science. And we see that for like a coach and client relationship, that doesn't just affect the
person that's being coached.
It also ripples out to affect their kids and their spouse and not just that.
So I love when people come and they're like, Nick, my little boy's practicing gratitude
or I had this amazing conversation with my teenager.
Like that is positive psychology
and action but it extends further and wider than that as well it extends to every single person
that the person that's being coached comes into contact with so imagine the power of that it's
giving me chills again same it's like think about if you look at like a globe and you think about
these like little pockets of like people being lit up and activated and then the ripple effect from all of these
people we can actually like extend this power and impact all around the world what is some of the
most impressive things or things that have given you goosebumps that you've seen your students like
go on to do or go through it's all across
the board so there's the financial wins that when someone graduates from the eight-week certification
they go and do a launch and they make like an extra 90 000 pounds or 90 000 dollars in sales
because they've added this positive psychology into what they're already doing there's also the
ripple effect from for example example, a mother being
able to coach their daughter when they were so scared to go and do a performance at gymnastics
and the daughter was really, really struggling with feelings of anxiety and really judging herself
and the mother knew what to do in that situation. So whilst that wasn't necessarily
coaching a client, they were able to use these
tools with and for their families as well. And then the celebrations of students going and speaking
in front of schools or students going and speaking in front of their own audiences and them coming
back and just witnessing the difference between someone that's at the start of the process where they're a little bit nervous
in the anticipation they're excited but seeing it all the way through to the end
honestly every single time I do that graduation call I am an emotional wreck I'm in tears because
the before and after it's just so special to witness what these students are willing to
journey through and it's really beautiful because that expansion can never be taken away and it's
also something that goes on to affect positive change for generations to come so I feel very
honored to be part of it and I think one of the things that I want to touch
on before I get a little bit more into like the structure and the setup of things is positive
psychology is not about being positive all of the time love that and it's there's a lot toxic
yes so there's that is not what this is so when you talk about like navigating all of life's experience and you talk about the
ability to have challenges in life, positive psychology helps you look for the gold within
them. So it's not about saying like ignore your challenges or expect that everything's going to
be perfect because it's not. Like all of us are going to have hard times, but it's about you being
able to pick up a tool in those hard times and be able to
reframe something or being able to honor the emotion that you're feeling and knowing how to
move it through your body so that you can actually get it out and through your body and learn from it
rather than just having it stuck or ignoring it so I think the opportunity is really to find the
validity and the growth in all of life's experience using the
science of positive psychology the journey that people walk through when they come through the
certification it's eight weeks it's like it's short and they're coming in and they're first of
all learning the positive psychology theory they're learning how to be a good coach they're
learning how to create mastery how to operate in alignment with ethics,
how to ask powerful questions, and then learning the actual tools from the science as well.
And we give support for years afterwards in the grad community, because I firmly believe that our
work is never done. Our work on ourselves is never done.
Our work as coaches and mastery is never done.
So we're really committed to being in this with each other for the long haul.
Because things change.
People change.
The world of coaching and entrepreneurship is always changing.
So we're like, how can we be the people who are researching, that are doing the groundwork,
that are keeping up to date with positive psychology, that are continually teaching
and deepening what's possible for our coaches too.
I love that.
And I think it's just really important what you said there is like, you know, not only
do you continue supporting the grads afterwards, but also you created a certification that
isn't like a year long a lot of these certifications
are just like filled with a lot of content that you it doesn't need to be in there and it actually
isn't adding to the client's experience or the people that helps them and that's what I love
about what you've created because you're like like these are the key things if you follow these key
things like what we're creating when when people create these complicated
structures of doing everything you basically can't do it like it falls down like you either give up
or it's so complicated like you can't even remember it all the time and that's what I think I
really appreciate about what you've done it's like you've pulled out all the best things that people
need and that's all that they need and if they do these things and they apply these things to their own life their clients lives or whoever they're helping they're going to
have that positive ripple effect as well so share with us how people if they have been interested
this can register their interest to know more because like we said this is a time to skill up
this is a really really important time and you know everyone's lives to be like how am
i standing out what pathway am i making for myself versus relying on other people and how am i leaving
the world better than when i found it so if people are feeling like called to finding out more
information about working with you where is the best place for them to head next so we can chat
at the application link for sure for pPCA. So the Positive Psychology Coach Academy certification.
And then I always love hanging out
and chatting on Instagram as well.
So with the application though,
just so people aren't like nervous,
is this a place where they can go and ask questions
and really understand more?
Like, what does that look like?
They're just filling in some questions
and like your team is then just being like,
okay, like this person's definitely interested.
Let's hop on a call with them.
Yeah, so we can this person's definitely interested. Let's hop on a call with them.
Yeah.
So we can get onto a call together.
We really want to know like what inspires you to become a positive psychology coach? Like what is it that feels interesting for you?
How are you going to use it?
How are you going to integrate it?
What stage of your journey are you at?
Do you want it for your personal transformation?
So there's a couple of questions to help us understand more about where you are at in your journey and how being a positive psychology coach is going to support you
and support your coaching business and then we can hop on a call and we can go through any questions
and we can make the plan together I'm going to remind people something that you said earlier
because I think this is like needed I often see because I obviously work predominantly
women a lot of women standing their own way about even filling in that application and you said
something earlier like the first thing you're going to do is just take action so I think if
I would just love to like encourage anyone listening today who has been on the fence and
might talk themselves out of applying like oh I'm not good enough to apply now it's not like time to apply or any of these things go for it because I often think back to when I had that
breakthrough session with you that's what it was like positioned as like what if I hadn't filled
that out right I remember where I was when I was filling it out. I was actually watching television at the time in Wales when I lived in the UK.
And I just filled it out.
And I was like, oh, should I do this?
And then something happened.
I got distracted.
I just clicked yes.
And I didn't even think anything of it after that point.
But I think sometimes we psych ourselves out of taking that first little step.
And just imagine if I hadn't filled that out
now like my life would be completely different like I'd probably still be a chiropractor
miserable like and we're like sitting here in LA together I know it's wild girls from England
and I didn't know what was going to happen I also had no idea I didn't even know like yeah I had no idea what was gonna happen in
my life I did not know what business was gonna build I did not even know about boss babe like
I did not even know the words coach it like I didn't know any of this and so I think I'm just
sharing that as like a reminder like you don't actually know what 10 steps down the line looks
like all you have in your control is the first step
and just never stand in your way around,
you know, I think, so this is what I heard the other day.
I was actually listening to Call Her Daddy podcast
and Rebel Wilson said something like,
she was talking about dating
and she was talking about emotional masturbation.
And she said, it's like basically what happens
where you start going all these steps
ahead and they were talking about like dating you I meet someone and then you're like oh my god
maybe we'd have kids we would live over here our lives would look like this and you you just can't
like you basically plan this whole entire life out and you haven't even taken step one and what I see
time and time again is people doing it almost like career masturbation like they start
getting so far ahead of like this imaginary life that they're creating for themselves it's
often way more terrifying than the actual reality of doing the first step so anyway I don't know how
we got onto that but I just like realized as I was talking like don't don't stand in your way of the
first step because the first step is the most important you don't know what 10 steps looks like
you don't even know what the second step looks like. All you
can ever control is the next step. And so just really, you know, from a positive psychology
aspect, being positive, like control the first step as you always tell me. Love it.
All right. Thank you so much, Nick. I feel like this is a full circle moment.
