A boss babe is unapologetically ambitious and paves the way for herself and other women
to rise, keep going and fighting on.
She is on a mission to be her best self in all areas.
It's just believing in yourself.
Confidently stepping outside her comfort zone to create her own vision of success.
Vision of success.
Welcome back to the podcast. Oh my goodness, this week I am just feeling so energized, so full up. We hosted our first ever CEO Mama retreat last week and it was
better than I could have ever imagined. We have another one next week because we currently have
two cohorts running, one from last year and one from this year. And it was just amazing. The transformation,
the connection, the ideas, the things that came out of that retreat. Yeah, they were just bigger
than I could have ever imagined. I really wish I could just enroll every single CEO mama into this
mastermind, but it's not currently open. I don't think we will
open again until next year, just because I want to keep it small and intimate, but I'm feeling
so full up. It was absolutely amazing. If you weren't able to get a spot in that this time,
the next best thing is you probably already know, but James Wedmore is running his rise of the
digital CEO training right now, which is going freaking amazing. Every single
time I tune into a training with James, I learn something. I always take something else away,
normally around how I could optimize my time even more than I am now, how I could implement better
processes, how I could delegate more things to my team, really just be able to create more freedom
and space. Anyway, me and the team were chatting
this week and we know so many of you are already signed up for this event, which is totally free,
by the way. And it's worth, I think it's worth thousands of dollars. It's better than a lot of
online courses. We wanted to do something really amazing for you all. And we actually had a
conversation. We were like, okay, a lot of the people doing this training, I'll be wondering,
okay, what's something else I could really implement to get results?
I've got the training, what's something else?
And I said to my team, was literally this Monday,
I was like, can you guys go away and have a meeting
and brainstorm what would be the best thing
we could possibly give people that signed up
for this training for free?
What's the best thing we could give away?
Like if we could just like play silly idea time,
something that would be amazing.
They came back to me with a pitch
and I think they were a little bit nervous
to put the pitch forward
because it's one of those things who are like,
I don't know if we went a little bit too far.
Anyway, what they proposed to me was,
Natalie, what if you gave away the webinar
you've used to generate over $10 million,
like the exact one and walk people through
exactly why it converted the way
it did. Then give them the entire email sequence and done fee funnel. Give them the whole thing so
that they could learn from it and go implement it themselves and scale it. And I was like,
okay, you really did hear the brief. I'm sure we should be selling this. This feels like a full
product in and of itself. And then I thought, you know what? Actually, let's do it. Let's give it away for free. Why not? James says constantly give your best
stuff away for free. So I'm like, I'm listening, James, I'm going to do it. So I want you to have
it. So we put it all together. I actually recorded it this week, a full run through of why those
slides converted the way they did and how you could actually implement the exact same thing
in your business. Even if you have no idea what a webinar or funnel is, you're brand new to it. This will be so self-explanatory along with the training.
If you do the training, it'll make complete sense to you. So I'm going to give away free.
All you need to do is sign up for the free training. It's Rise of the Digital CEO.
You'll just go to bossbabe.com forward slash rise, sign up for the training. As soon as you dive in,
you can actually catch the replays right away. And then there's still another live event to go. So go sign up for that. And once you've
signed up, we're going to send you over this done for you funnel completely free, the exact funnel
I've used general for $10 million. The exact one, like I'm not kidding. It's the exact one. You
guys, I think this is wild that we're doing this. So go download it before I change my mind. Bosswave.com forward slash rise. And so diving into this episode, this one's a
great one. This episode is an interview that Danielle did with Danette May. So if you haven't
heard of Danette, she is an incredible coach for celebrities and impact-driven leaders.
She is a speaker, a two times best-selling author,
and she's also co-founder of Earth Echo Foods, which is a multiple eight-figure supplement
company. She is incredible. In this episode, the two of them really dive into what it looks like
to trust your intuition more and trust your gut more in business. Not always being so focused on
the data and the numbers, but being able to lean into what you
think you should be doing and how to really allow that inner voice to come through. I wish I was
there. This was an absolutely incredible conversation and I think you're going to love it.
Tanette, welcome to the Bossy Podcast.
That was so informal.
Well, I feel like it's bad that you've not been on that so far. Like
this is the first time. That is ridiculous. It is. I've had this podcast for years. You've been like
one of my besties for probably just a year. You graduated. But I'm excited to have you on. Yes,
I'm excited to be on. So on this podcast, we talk a lot about starting businesses,
growing businesses, scaling them, and I love to keep it actionable. But, this podcast, we talk a lot about starting businesses, growing businesses,
scaling them, and I love to keep it actionable. But, you know, we can give all of the teaching
points on this is how you grow on social media. Like this is how you start a podcast. This is
how X, Y, and Z. But as I've gone through my business experience, like I've also realized
that there's all these things that you can explain and statistics and data and then these
decisions that you make that you just can't quite explain but they're just knowings it's just that
gut instinct like I can't explain it but this is what we should do and I want to talk to you about
that because you and I are in a mastermind together we have so many business conversations
we have friendship conversations we talk about metaphysics like all of the things. So I want to ask you the question, like when you're not looking at data,
when you're not doing all these things, how do you make decisions for your life and business?
Well, you're asking somebody who drives everything in business based off intuition.
And I used to think that I was abnormal until actually, I think I introduced
you to the PI index, which is very data driven. And it's a program you have to pay for, which our
whole team takes. We actually hire people to take, they have to take it. Anybody who's going to be in
a leadership position has to take the PI index. And so I take this PI index and we had the specialist come out because
we had our leadership team out because I always just, I always kind of thought I was just unique,
but the PI was telling them, Danette, it will never look at the data. She will never look at
the data. She will come to you and she'll say, my intuition says, and she'll guide by intuition.
And you will be shocked because you'll be like, the data doesn't support what Danette wants to do, but yet it will
work because Danette is a maverick and Danette will go off intuition and her intuition is pretty
spot on. And that was like the first time I felt so seen in like a very data-driven business.
Cause I work with a lot of men and I was like, wow. And Craig, my business partner,
was very much data-driven. And I love data for deciding to continue something or to make
little micro movements. But I don't make decisions on data. I make decisions on
my spiritual connection, truly. And everything that has been built, and Craig would tell you that,
everything that's been built in our business
has been me going to him and saying,
we should do this, this, this.
No data supported any of it.
So I want to rewind then for a second
because you lead with intuition now
and we'll come to what that means in a little minute.
But when did you start understanding what intuition was?
What was that journey like for you?
Did you literally like from the age of three or four knew what your intuition was. What was that journey like for you? Did you literally like
from the age of three or four knew what your intuition was or like when did you develop this
skill? Yeah, no, it came through heartache. It came through my darkest hours. I think everyone
has intuition. And I think that's the big misconception is we think, oh, someone like
her or him has intuition and I don't. No, we all have intuition.
And I think it gets buried.
I think for me, my intuition was completely mulled over because of choices I made when
I was younger.
I was raised very religious.
So it was like, you do this, you do this, you do this.
You do not skirt outside the lines.
You do not question the line.
And when you live like that, whenever your own voice or your intuition comes up, it gets
squashed down.
I think I had to be raised like that for me to get so crystal clear on my intuition because
I can see the both sides of it.
And it was really in the loss of my son because I remember sitting there and it was so finite.
I mean, I think anyone can imagine losing their child.
You'll learn the lesson real quick because it was told to me so strong that something was wrong, but my intuition was so turned off. I was
in a relationship I didn't want to be in. I was following certain paths and decision like
spiritually that were not mine, but that's what everybody wanted for me. And I just clouded my
intuition. So if I listened to my intuition in that moment and go to the hospital, then I was going to start listening to all my intuitions around my relationship, my religion,
my friends, the way I was living. And I didn't have the courage to look at all that. So of course,
I just got up and did the dishes and my son passed away. And I don't say this because I feel
guilt anymore, but it was massive wake up. I knew and I did nothing about it because I was so scared to listen to my intuition.
And so in that, I went on a journey like it was a journey for about two years of like
just dark me peeling back everything going, you know, I'm not this person.
I'm going to try to start living for me.
And I always say his passing truly woke me up what were you peeling back do you think I was peeling back me you know
because I think we put on all these layers of I need to live like this I need to look like this I
need to want this I need to be in this relationship I wasn't this girl like I didn't have any business
to my name I was not I was just living my life for
everyone else but myself and then everything just started to I just you have to peel and then you
start to hear your intuition more and more and more and then I started to listen and then you
get rewarded for it and so now I'm like more dialed into my intuition more than ever okay
let's take a quick pause to talk about my new favorite all-in-one platform Kajajabi. You know I've been singing their praises lately because they have helped our business run
so much smoother and with way less complexity, which I love. Not to mention our team couldn't
be happier because now everything is in one place, so it makes collecting data, creating pages,
collecting payment, all the things so much simpler. One of our mottos at Boss Babe is simplify to amplify and Kajabi has
really helped us do that this year. So of course I needed to share it here with you. It's the perfect
time of year to do a bit of spring cleaning in your business, you know, get rid of the complexity
and instead really focus on getting organized and making things as smooth as possible.
I definitely recommend Kajabi to all of my clients and students
so if you're listening and haven't checked out kajabi yet now is the perfect time to do so
because they are offering boss babe listeners a 30-day free trial go to kajabi.com slash boss babe
to claim your 30-day free trial that's kajabi.com slash boss babe. Okay, so for people who are kind of new to this,
I want to just ask you a little bit,
like when you say you feel your intuition,
what does that physically feel like for you?
Is it like a gut thing, a heart thing?
Like, is it a head thing?
Like, what are you actually physically experiencing?
Yeah, and I do want to say before I say
what I experience is that I've learned now in studying this,
because I like
studying this science, because to me it is a science, that everyone experiences it a little
differently. So if you don't experience it like me, doesn't mean you don't have it. Because some
people actually need to see data or see different filaments. Like that's why you would go to a Joe
Dispenza. Joe Dispenza and I would probably, I'd probably be like, ah, because I operate a little different in how I get to source energy.
So for me, for example, let's just use this example.
I found my business partner, Craig, by listening to an intuition.
So I was thinking in my heart, you know, we all have these goals.
I would love to start this business and help millions of women.
Granted, I had like 100 people following me on Facebook, no Instagram.
And I wanted to help millions of women.
Like, who am I to think that dream?
But I was feeling that and I was like, OK, if I want to reach a million women, I need
to know how to do social.
I need to know how to do marketing.
And I know none of those.
So I want a business partner.
OK, I want a business partner.
Where am I going to find a business partner? So I just was putting it out in my heart.
I would love a business partner that was like this, this, this, I got really, really clear.
And then know what happens. You'll get hit with weird, random things. Either someone will come
into your space and mention something. For me, I didn't even do one Twitter in my whole life I didn't follow Twitter and I was
like I had heard someone say just in just brief passing you can find what's trending on Twitter
by going to Twitter wonk so what happens with spirit when you put something out you'll get
hit with like oh I should see who's trending and social and fitness on Twitter wonk. So I did it. And then what happens for me,
because at first you have to listen to those weird random things that will come through. So that's,
that's part of intuition. And then the second thing I remember looking at the list, because I
put in fitness on Twitter wonk, don't even have a Twitter account. And I see a human name
because it was like corporation, corporation. I remember Oxygen Magazine was number three,
which is a huge fitness magazine. And then a name, Craig Collins. And I was like, oh, a human.
And my whole body, what happens for me is my internal body. It's almost like,
how do I describe it? It's almost like if it was all dark in there, it got lit up or it's almost like, how do I describe it? It's almost like, um, if it was all dark in there,
it got lit up or it's almost like a wind went through my body. It literally feels like that.
And I know not a lot of people get that. So I get nervous to share it because I ever get that
feeling through my body. I know it's going to be successful. I know without a filament of doubt
that it's my path because I remember remember getting that and I was like,
I don't know who Craig Collins is,
but it says Craig Collins, Vail, Colorado.
I, of course, go to Facebook,
look Craig Collins, Vail, Colorado.
And went after it, went after it, went after it,
became my business partner and my husband.
But that's just one example.
Earth Echo, all of our companies were built
with that flooding of feeling within me.
You're also sharing that, like, you know, maybe a little bit nervous sharing that aspect
because not many people do get that.
But I wonder if it's not many people get it, but it's actually people do get it.
They just don't realize they're getting it.
Because that's what I've noticed.
Like, you know, when I recorded and came on your podcast, I was kind of sharing that for
a long time when I was younger.
I had these feelings and these knowings, but then through my late teens, early twenties,
or whole of my twenties, really closed those off. And so like, if I think about, if I think about
like women and people saying like, no, I just got a shiver about it or hang on to your ears burning
or all these sayings like, oh, I just have this feeling in my gut or I just knew he was up to
something. I don't
know. Like all these things that we actually hear our girlfriends saying, like actually, if you
tuned in to those signs in different areas, I think a lot of women would be very surprised at
how much their body and their intuition was like screaming at them on a frequent basis.
One thousand percent. And I actually see that in you, by the way, I think that you could close your eyes
and put energy out and know what number or what thing or what person to grab. Well, it's funny,
because I asked you to come on this podcast, because, you know, we've spent a lot of time
together, particularly over the last year, and I've really come to learn how spiritual you are
and learn from you. And I ask you questions
all the time. And so one question I asked you previously, I literally dropped your voice note
because I was trying to work out what I was doing because my new year plans kept getting moved and
altered. And then you messaged me and was like, hey, do you want to come to Mexico? I was like,
oh, I hadn't thought about going to Mexico, but maybe I hadn't
really decided what I was doing. I felt really confused at the time. And I was umming and ahming.
And then I eventually got back to you and said, I can't come. But in the meantime, you've gone
through this whole process. You were like, Oh, well, I'm not going either because there's been
all these signs. There's been snow and it's a sign I shouldn't go and I'm like okay honey I have a question
I was like she was so basically long story short is Danette said she wasn't going to Mexico because
there was a sign and that sign was snow but she lives in Colorado so I was like in winter in winter
so I'm like honey do you know what the sun like do you know the weather forecast in Colorado
anyway but the point is you you said it so matter of fact to me and I just voice noted you I'm like, honey, do you know what the weather forecast in Colorado? Anyway, but the point is, you said it so matter of fact to me and I just voice noted you.
I'm like, can I ask you a question?
I was like, how do you know that's a sign and not just a snowstorm?
I'm confused.
Like how?
And so in all seriousness, I want to have this conversation about like, when is it a sign and when is it a snowstorm?
Like, how am I supposed to know these things?
Which is legitimate legitimate
legitimate so I think what I shared with you because it wasn't just the snowstorm I know I
butchered the story sorry but it was that was like to me that was the how do I describe I'm proud of
you sign almost because I had already kind of made the decision because the sign came in a dream as
soon as I bought the ticket I was dreaming that I shouldn't
go. Interesting. So you often, when you talk, so listening back to business and all these things
too, when you're getting signs, there'll often be things like dreams too. One way is you're
getting in the feeling, another way is a dream. Okay. So you had a dream.
And you know, I have to say, I'm still learning about my dreams because I sometimes,
if anybody's like me you
might wake up at two or three in the morning and have these like terrifying thoughts but it's really
just you moving into something new and it's nothing that you shouldn't be a part of right so
I know where this can get confusing so I woke up in the morning I was like do I still feel the same
feeling because that's where I gauge it I was like I had this dream do I still feel that in the that in the morning? In the morning, I was like, this is not a hell yes. And I've made a decision
that if it's not, and obviously it's just a trip to Mexico. So to me, I was like, ah, probably it's
not a big deal if I go or don't go. Ultimately, nothing's going to go wrong. It's just where does
my energy want to be right now? And if I'm really believing in this power and this filament of the fine-tuned sort of energy, then I want to be where I need to be. So that was the first sign.
Then the second sign, my family got sick and I was like, okay, like there's no way Craig who has a
ticket is going to be better on that plane to go to Mexico for a new year's celebration. And I was
like body. So what I did is I placed my hand on my belly and one on my heart. And I was like, body. So what I did is I placed my hand Show me through my body what my higher self knows for me,
which would be a sign because I believe the body knows.
So I was watching to see if the body laid on the couch.
Does the body want to go pack?
What does my body naturally go to?
And I was in the kitchen making them a healing meal
that was way more rigorous
than I normally cook for anyone. And I was like, oh, my body wants to nurture my loved ones right
now. So then that was my sign. And then the next morning it dumped where we couldn't even get our
cars out. Wow. So I was like, oh, thank you for. So that was like the reaffirming that hey your intuition was spot on
yeah and so I think that's really interesting so for people listening and look I'm like literally
previously been the queen of the data like I love a good data chart like I make decisions
off data all day long but I do think in business like you have to be overly optimistic to succeed
in business like people are going to say you are
absolutely crazy for taking that risk when i started boss babe when i transitioned from
to online or move from the uk to ula um to la people like what are you doing you're crazy right
but you have this like knowing and this intuition you have to be optimistic right and so i think
it's just really good to be i didn't necessarily have these body chills or that I probably did have them, but I wasn't attuned to them.
I think mine was just more of this like, oh, I just know, like I just have this knowing
in my heart that it feels good.
But I do think it's like an underutilized skill set in many ways in business.
If you're not actually tapping into it.
I think it's one of the biggest underutilized skill sets in business.
I mean, yes. And it's also like allowing yourself to be multifaceted
in how you show up in business. I think it's something that I've really learned from like you
and, you know, Laurie and our mastermind are just allowing that expansion to come through. Yes. Okay.
Here's what data said. Here's what the copywriter said. Here's what this said, but also like, oh,
I actually had this feeling that we should deviate here and try this something new. So fast forward, like you met
Craig and you helped grow your business. You guys built the business together, two businesses,
really? Three. Three. And they were all ideas from me and he was a great implementer of them. He just
believed in what I had. So how, how do you like communicate that?
So if we've got people listening to me, I'm like, yeah, like I feel this way. I feel like I have
these good ideas, but I just find it really, really hard to like communicate. How do you
convince people to, you know, share your vision, to jump on that same bandwagon, to be like, yep,
she's got no data, but she had a dream last night. Let's do this. Yeah. Actually, I just had Brooke,
my right hand, she calls herself the chief of staff on my podcast because I shared a vision
about my next venture, which is manifestable to her. And she shared that she felt like I was
speaking Mandarin to her, sharing the vision. So I want to share this because
sometimes you are not going to communicate to where they're like, oh my gosh, she's like,
I couldn't see it. I couldn't see what you were talking about. And I was asking her to leave.
She was her own business owner, her doing her own thing to leave, to jump ship and come with me
on something that sounded like Mandarin to her. And she couldn't actually
see it. So I was like, why did you do it? And she said, because I had a feeling and what she uses,
which might be a cue for someone else is she has a deal with the universe that if something is
for her, she'll be shown like a Dalmatian. I hope I'm not brutalizing this. A Dalmatian will appear.
And I left her.
And I think there's timing things in all of this.
Because when I asked her, I was late for my flight.
I'm in an airport.
Spirit's like, leave her a voice memo now.
Ask her to come on.
Because I was ready to get a new contract to somebody else.
So I'm like in the airport running, kind of walking quick.
I'm like, I don't want to be offensive.
You may not want to do this, but I just am feeling it.
I have to share it that I think you're supposed to come on with me.
And she said she hears it.
She's in Vegas in a casino and a Dalmatian walks by.
No. And so she's like, whoa, of course she wanted
to do data after that and check in on data. But she was like some there's that's a sign.
And my sign was do it now was through a knowing while I'm going to the airport. She was in a
casino when she listened to that. I just want to make a joke about whenever you send feather requests, you just put a Dalmatian dog on the end of it. Like a Dalmatian emoji. It's a sign.
It's always a sign. No, but I think this is really, really powerful. Mine's a white feather. I don't
know why. I've heard people have bees, butterflies. Yeah. I always tell people actually in some of my
coaching, I tell people to um find
something that they want to be shown and it can be something that they'll really notice it be
abstract like something big something more than snow in Colorado in winter um but yeah so that
you're really shown but let's let's like talk about this because some people are listening
and they're like oh my goodness I'm already tapped into my intuition amazing cool I'm gonna keep
doing this other people are like wait a minute like minute. Like, how do I know? How do I test this? Cause you don't
want me testing on a brand new business all the time. You don't want me like testing it when the
stakes are high. What do you think are some like practices that people can do just to lean in a
little bit? Like, Hey, like ask yourself this question and then see if this thing shows up or,
you know, notice this about
yourself so you can start because I think it's like with everything you know it's a muscle that
you gotta like strengthen to like hear it and it takes time so what are some great ways that people
can start with that so let's can we I've been using this analogy all day but I love it because
I'm a fitness person I'm a fitness person trade, and I would never ask somebody who's new to the fitness world to, or lifting or strengthening
their muscles to go in and deadlift 150 pounds to asking this question to me is me and me giving
you an answer right now would be like, go to the gym and deadlift 150. And you would get injured
or you'd be like, that didn't work for me. I'm not going to the gym again. So what I'm going to say to each person that's listening that I, if you are on a business
venture right now, like you want to create a superfood company, you want to start an online
business. I'm not going to ask you to go deadlift 150 pounds, meaning I'm not going to say now tune
into your intuition and ask for the big thing about what you're going to step into next because that's irresponsible what I'm going to do to tell you to do is that I'm going to ask
you do you have a daily practice right now and like legit daily practice because it's touted
everywhere that people have practices and they dive into it for three days and then they say
they have a practice and then they're off of it for two weeks right so I would say your muscle is
built in the daily decisions you're making and this confidence that you start to build with yourself have a practice and then they're off of it for two weeks. Right. So I would say your muscle is built
in the daily decisions you're making and this confidence that you start to build with yourself
with intuition around, you know what? I don't actually, it's not a hell yes for me to go have
dinner with that person tonight. And I'm going to listen to myself and then seeing what comes
when you actually choose you, because that's what your intuition said, or you just are an introvert
and you don't actually want to go out to eat, but your intuition says you should go out to that party. Like those parties
you went to and you show up and then you meet someone that builds that muscle of intuition.
So that's first, you got to do the back work. You've got to be in your own stillness because
entrepreneurs are like this on their phones, like constantly going to the next meeting,
the next mastermind, you've got to have a practice of stillness. I think that that's your
greatest ammo to be a really potent business leader personally. And then what you can do after
that, after like, as you're doing it, because you're, if you're already in business, I always
check in with my body, check in. So get into that stillness and then ask, like place your hand over
your heart, over your belly and be like, what do you feel if I make this decision? And, and really
asking not from a place of, okay, my fears just telling me no, because I'm scared because it's
something new, but really is this the best use for me, my business, my team and asking. And then
the third thing is don't take yourself too serious
because ultimately we're all just playing a game.
We're playing a game of chess.
Like I'm not going to, you should never get mad
because you made a wrong move.
Like just move another piece, you know,
like treat your business like a game
and you're going to go so much farther
if you take it, don't take it too seriously.
I love that. So, so true. This isn't actually a conversation we have a lot on this podcast. We tend to be way more in like the practical, like I said, side of things. So I would love for
you to share because you've launched a podcast of your own called Manifestival. So I want you
to share a little bit about what conversations you're having on there and how people can find it.
Oh, thanks for bringing that up. Yeah. I just launched Manifestival and I really brought this podcast to life to really show
people because the truth is manifesting is like thrown out like confetti.
The word manifest is everywhere.
And this is how you do it.
And I'm going to manifest this and I'm going to track this.
And I find that there's confusion in that, just like there would be in the weight loss space
or the nutrition space, or even the chiropractic space, even in business space. And so I really
wanted a place where people can hear real stories. They can actually hear these steps that are really
simplified and dumbed down to where you're like, oh, I can see how I can take that on in my life.
And I can start to listen to my intuition more. I can start to understand my like oh I can see how I can take that on in my life and I can start to listen
to my intuition more I can start to understand my power I can start under remembering these things
about my childhood like you just shared I do remember as a little girl I did this and whoa
can I maybe start doing this just a little bit more and really finding that power that was already
in me and so manifestible is all about that I love that so let share your handles. We'll put them in the descriptions and stuff below,
but I want to make sure everyone's like
for all the things.
So at Danette May?
At the Danette May.
The Danette May.
Yeah, because who knows?
There's another Danette May.
Well, the Danette May though.
At the Danette May at IG and Facebook
and then you can go to Manifestival as well.
But I would follow me there
or go to danettemay.com on my website
and you can access everything.
I love it. Well, thank you so much much and sharing this like different way of doing business
which I know has been incredibly successful for you and also I also feel like it's actually a
really fun and beautiful way to find the things that actually feel aligned when you're creating
business so you're not actually just chasing like the money or the thing you're actually
leaning into your heart and connecting with what feels true in your soul and
I think that's a really really powerful gift that everyone can give themselves.
Oh thank you babe so fun to be on thanks guys for listening.
