Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm embodying what I teach. I'm creating a business that gives me so much leverage. To build a growing, profitable and scalable business on social media in the long term really requires you to step it up. If you really want people to aspire to live the lifestyle that you're living, think about how that shows up for you. Welcome to the Boss Babe podcast, a place where we share with you the real behind the scenes of building successful businesses, achieving peak performance and learning how to balance it all. I'm Natalie Ellis, co-founder and co-CEO of Boss Babe and your podcast host for this episode. So I'm coming at you with another short episode where
Starting point is 00:00:45 I'm going to pack with value and hopefully no matter where you are on the go, you're going to learn. So pull out your phone, be making notes. It's going to be good. This episode is brought to you by the Boss Babe Insta Growth Accelerator, a 12-week program designed to help you grow and monetize your Instagram account. If you're ready to grow your audience with your absolute ideal clients who are throwing their credit cards at you, then listen up. I've created a completely free 90-minute training to show you how to do exactly that. I'm taking you through the step-by-step strategy to attracting 10,000 ideal clients as followers over the next 30 days. If you know that growing your audience with ideal clients who can't wait to buy from you would completely change the game then this training is for you as i said it's totally free i just recommend turning up with a
Starting point is 00:01:29 journal and getting rid of all distractions as we waste no time getting into the nitty-gritty specifics you know that i love specifics to get started with the training just head to bossbabe.com forward slash ig dash growth or hit the link in the show notes below. A boss babe is unapologetically ambitious and paves the way for herself and other women to rise, keep going and fighting on. She is on a mission to be her best self in all areas. It's just believing in yourself. Confidently stepping outside her comfort zone to create her own version of success. So in this episode, we are going to talk all about content. So I get asked all the time, well, Natalie, how do you think of something to say every single day? Or how do I consistently grow my account? I feel like I'm always up and down and losing followers and it's so frustrating.
Starting point is 00:02:25 And so I'm going to talk to you about the three types of content you need to know if you're going to grow and monetize your account now I will say I created this framework these three types of content I created the framework so if you hear anyone else sharing it know that it came from me insta queen okay just putting that out there because I see this recycled and repurposed a lot. This original content. OG. Okay. So there's three types of meaningful content in my opinion that it takes to really grow monetize your account. So this will help you pull together a full content strategy that is going to take you off of the follower rollercoaster because people are going to want to keep following you because your content is so on point. They're getting so much value. They're loving it. They're engaging with it. They're
Starting point is 00:03:14 also going to be converting. So you're going to actually be converting people that are following you on Instagram into clients. A content strategy without these three things is a short-term strategy. It might work for a while, but to build a growing, profitable, and scalable business on social media in the long term really requires you to step it up. When you're in launch mode, you're going to be doing a different kind of content to when you're in like prep mode and you're wanting to grow. So I really do see a lot of people kind of trying to go after the quick wins that growth hacking could bring, but without a solid content strategy, it's only going to get you so far.
Starting point is 00:03:52 So the three types of content that you need in order to be able to grow and monetize your account is content to grow your audience, content to build your brand and content to sell to your audience okay content to grow content to build your brand content to sell there's no other content outside of there that exists that you need to be doing in order to grow and monetize your account so instantly we've just pulled together a solid content strategy with these three elements in and there's lots of different prompts under each kind of pillar that you can be using to post. I'm going to talk through what those might look like for you. So within the kind of growth area you're going to have what I call traction posts. The kind of posts that help you grow your
Starting point is 00:04:39 account. So these are going to be the viral kind of posts. So if you see Boss Babe, we have a lot of viral style content. Those quotes, those memes that people are going to engage with, they're going to share, it's going to go viral very, very quickly. I love seeing people post traction content on their accounts when they're trying to grow. It's just one of the three types of content they should be using, but it's effective. So if you want to figure out what kind of content might go viral on your account, then I really encourage you to check out your competitors. So check out pages who have similar audiences to the people you are trying to attract and see what kind of content's going
Starting point is 00:05:16 viral on their page. And the way you'll identify it is by scrolling through and say every post has 3,000 likes, but then you come up against a post that has 20,000 likes. You can assume that one went viral. So I would repurpose it or I would repost it on your account, obviously give credit and see if it goes viral. If it does, then you know you share the same kind of audience. And so you can use that to start framing up and creating your own traction style content. Does that make sense? I know you can't reply to me, but just nod in agreement if that makes sense. Cool. I like it.
Starting point is 00:05:49 So that's just one example of content that helps you grow. Content that might help you build your brand is like lifestyle kind of content or maybe transparent content. So lifestyle content is where you really show the embodiment of what you teach. So if you're a health coach, but you're constantly posting about eating in and out, then chances are you're not embodying what you teach. All right. So for me, one thing that I preach about, can I use that word? I'm preaching. One thing I preach about is having leverage in your business. So actually, you know, using your business as a tool for your growth, as opposed to being a tool that your business is
Starting point is 00:06:32 using to grow. That's where you get burnout. And so I love to tell my clients that the business should be working for them. They shouldn't be hustling on this hustle train 24 seven, making themselves exhausted and burned out, it isn't a good strategy. It ain't going to work. But if then if I was posting and I was in the office 24-7, I was just showing you an office that was like nothing else going on in my life, then I wouldn't be embodying what I am teaching. And so it's going to not look good for my brand. That is not brand building content. But instead, I do embody what I teach in fact I'm just chilling here in the sun got the palm trees going feeling good I'm embodying what
Starting point is 00:07:09 I teach I'm creating a business that gives me so much leverage time leverage location leverage schedule leverage you name it leverage so yeah I'm embodying it and that's a big part of my brand you're also going to want to put aspiration here's a big part of my brand. You're also going to want to put aspiration here if that is part of your brand. If you really want people to aspire to live the lifestyle that you're living, think about how that shows up for you. So this content shows your audience how you live and how you embody what you teach. So share your routines, your mindset, your state, your daily structure, any other elements of your lifestyle that make you aspirational to your ideal client. That's the lifestyle piece.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Can also be if it's a product, you know, how that product is used daily, how you embody the values that this product carries, all of these things. So that's lifestyle content. That's going to help you to really build your brand transparent kind of content is where you would really talk about something that you've gone through that creates transparency with your audience so you're not going to be afraid to get vulnerable here because you being real is going to build trust within your audience okay so i'll not go too much into detail on all the kinds of content that's in iga so if you're an iga student if you dive into the boss baby value pillars you'll get
Starting point is 00:08:25 a full it's like a half an hour presentation or maybe an hour and be talking through all of these value pillars properly so that's content that you'll use to build your brand and then content that you'll use to sell we call it solution-based content so it very much is yourself so you highlight your audience's problem or pain and you link it to how you can help them. You focus on the solution that you offer and highlight how they can apply it or take action on it. So you're going to have your strong calls to action for how they can take the next step to work with you or buy from you. Also content that's going to help you sell, but is actually also going to help you build your brand is results-based content. Listen, my friends, if you're not making sales on the gram, my guess is that you are not sharing strong enough results. If you share strong killer results,
Starting point is 00:09:13 you are going to get clients because people buy results, people buy transformation. And so even if you are sharing results, are you sharing them in a tangible way that's showing the transformation that you created? This is the number one thing you can be doing right now to get more clients just like fill your feed your stories with result after result after result it's going to help you build so much credibility it's going to build your brand but it's also going to sell like crazy it's going to have people in your dms asking if they can buy from you, throwing their credit cards at you and saying, please just let me pay you. And then you're like, okay, fine. I will. Yeah. Okay. That comes from results because you're so good at what you do and that comes through. And if you're like, well,
Starting point is 00:09:56 Natalie, this is all well and good, but no one's paying me for my services. So how the hell am I going to get results? Well, go into some Facebook groups and offer it for free. Go and offer your services for free, even if it's just one session, whatever it is, whatever you need to do to get some epic results, go do it because people will take things for free as well. And I would not feel bad about like sharing things for free to get those testimonials. Whenever I drop a course or anything, I share it for free, not only to get testimonials, but to make sure it actually works and it gets results like I don't put anything out there that is not tried tested sealed delivered
Starting point is 00:10:30 like I go all in on that let's take a quick pause to talk about my new favorite all-in-one platform Kajabi you know I've been singing their praises lately because they have helped our business run so much smoother and with way less complexity which I love. Not to mention our team couldn't be happier because now everything is in one place so it makes collecting data, creating pages, collecting payment, all the things so much simpler. One of our mottos at Boss Babe is simplify to amplify and Kajabi has really helped us do that this year. So of course I needed to share it here with you. It's the perfect time of year to do a bit of spring cleaning in your business, you know, get rid of the complexity and instead really
Starting point is 00:11:10 focus on getting organized and making things as smooth as possible. I definitely recommend Kajabi to all of my clients and students. So if you're listening and haven't checked out Kajabi yet, now is the perfect time to do so because they are offering Boss Babe listeners a 30-day free trial. Go to kajabi.com slash Boss Babe to claim your 30-day free trial. That's kajabi.com slash Boss Babe. So I really encourage you to do that. So go all in and get those results. It's going to help you sell like crazy. It's going to be, you're going to be seeing so much growth in your business from doing that. So that's going to help you build your brand. And if you notice there's an overlap there between content that you use to build your brand and content that you use to sell, there's also an
Starting point is 00:11:53 overlap between content that helps you build your brand, but also grow your account. So that might look like kind of belief style content. So beliefs that you hold that show your audience what and why you believe in or do something that should also kind of provide context around what you do and it can be polarizing because it's time to pull in your raving fans because guess what, that's going to build your brand for sure, my friend. puts words into their mouth. And what I mean by that is if you share maybe an unpopular opinion that you truly believe in, you know that your ideal clients believe in too. If you share that kind of content, the people that believe in that content and what you said are going to share it because it allows them to share their opinion without it having to come out of their mouth. Like it backs up their beliefs. It's genius, right? Seriously, genius. So all of this kind of content really helps you to grow your account because you're getting shares like crazy. A lot
Starting point is 00:12:52 of people are discovering you. And listen, if you're polarizing and someone discovers that piece of content, they're like, oh my God, they are speaking to my soul, which happens with polarizing content because you're not just on the fence. Like I always say I'm never on a fence. I'm in front of it or I'm behind it. I am never on it. No fun happens on the fence. Seriously, let's get off the fence. Nothing exciting happens on the fence. So if you're sharing content that you're, you know, behind the fence or in front of the fence, if someone loves it and resonates with you, you can bet they are going to follow you. They're going to be like, wait, this girl is like perfect for me. Like she's sharing exactly what I want to hear. I'm going to follow her. So that's just a few bits of like content prompts that you can be
Starting point is 00:13:35 using to create content. So just to like review what I said, you've got content to grow your audience, content to build your brand, content to sell to your audience. And it's so, so valuable. So if you want to know, I've only shared like a few bits of content on here because I don't want to just blow up the podcast with all of these different prompts. And you're actually, you're going to learn less if I share more because you're going to be overwhelmed. I've shared, I think just enough that you now have a plan of exactly what you're going to go and do on Instagram and if you want to learn all of the content pillars for free obviously I would love to share them with you I have a free training which will just tell you all you need to know about these
Starting point is 00:14:15 content pillars it's bossbib.com forward slash ig dash growth that is for the second time bossbib.com forward slash ig dash growth so basically I'll take you through all of these pillars and let you know all of the different types of content you should be posting so hopefully it makes your job a little bit easier because trust me I get it like creating content can be the most overwhelming draining thing like you could just be waking up just being so frustrated that you have nothing to say I get it so I'm also gonna hit you up with a little tip about content creation so if you are feeling like you're waking up and you just have no content scheduled you have no idea what to say
Starting point is 00:14:56 and you're like but I know I need to share today because I'm being consistent what you should do is consume some content what I? I just said consume? When all the online gurus are telling you that you shouldn't be consuming content? Yes, that's what I'm saying. Because, listen to me. So how can you expect to like know what's going on in the market?
Starting point is 00:15:18 How can you expect to know what your ideal client is suffering with if you aren't consuming any content? In my opinion, and this content. In my opinion, and this is just purely my opinion, in my opinion, if you're unwilling to consume content, you're kind of assuming that you know everything. The ego's stepping in and is like, wait, I got this. I don't need any support in my content creation. I just, I'm a channel of content. I'm channeling, but it doesn't happen like that because you need to be on the ground to understand what your ideal clients
Starting point is 00:15:48 are really working through or struggling with so that you can create the content to provide solutions to their problems. Because any good entrepreneur is just providing solutions to problems. And how do you know the problem exists if you're not even exploring what's going on with your ideal clients?
Starting point is 00:16:02 So that's the first thing. Consuming content is really, really important just for that alone. But if you're finding yourself in a bit of a content rut, consuming content can really start to spark ideas. Content isn't that original. Like a lot of us are just recycling ideas. I know I told you at the beginning, those three pillars are my ideas, the content to grow, to build your brand and to sell. But content was around way before I came up with this. I just saw lots of content. I thought, hey, I could group this into a really interesting framework because that's what I've
Starting point is 00:16:34 been doing. But I'm not saying I created the idea of content. So what I might do if I'm struggling to create content is I might meditate for 10 minutes and all of a sudden I am getting these downloads and I know exactly what I'm going to share because I've just been able to quiet my mind for 10 minutes. Or maybe I'll pick up a book, I'll read and I'll learn something really interesting. And then I decide, oh, I'm going to share this with my audience. Oh, actually, this sparked an idea within me that I'm going to share with my audience. Or maybe you watch like an inspirational video on YouTube and it sparks an idea or something you hear in their story reminds you of something in your story that you
Starting point is 00:17:11 could share. So if you're really, really struggling and you want to create content, go and consume some content, even just for 10, 15 minutes. And then once you've done it, just sit in silence for five minutes and just see what else comes and see how you can reframe see what you can create and then go create it's a little hack that has worked so well for me another thing that worked really well for me is walking so if I want to create some content what I will do is I'll just take my little puppy Nala out on a walk I won't put my headphones in I won't take my phone I will just walk for 10 20 30, 30 minutes, whatever it takes, and ideas will flow to you like crazy. Like you will come home with so many ideas that you'll just be scribbling down and writing. The problem is we often try and create content from this like forced place, but it's really
Starting point is 00:17:56 going to come from a place of flow as opposed to really, really forcing it. You can't force creativity. You can't force ideas. You need to give them space. Then you're going to be able to create. So hopefully that's going to give you a bit of a kickstart on creating some content. Maybe you've been listening to this and you're like, yes, this is helping me feel inspired. I'm going to go and talk about something. So whatever it is, don't feel bad about consuming. I'm not saying you should be sitting on Instagram all day long just mindlessly scrolling but I am saying like consuming content is going to help you be on the ground it's going to help you create better it's going to help you be inspired I am not against it I am not above consuming content I'm also not above watching Netflix so just putting that out there if Gary V
Starting point is 00:18:39 or any of these other entrepreneurs tell you that you can't watch Netflix and be successful I just love a Stranger Things episode. What can I say? I like to do things differently. Okay, so if you want the Instagram training that I'm talking about, it's basically going to go into all of the Instagram growth and monetization things a lot deeper for you. It's completely free.
