Starting point is 00:00:00 welcome back to the boss babe podcast all right i thought we'd just drop in and do a little solo life update i feel like i haven't done a little life update in ages and there's been loads of life been lifing so let's get into it we are home now we've been traveling all summer which was so incredible we got to visit the UK we obviously have a house there now which is so nice it really is starting to feel like home it's in the Cotswolds which is just the most beautiful British countryside and we got to spend so much time with family who we don't often see because they live in the UK we also went to Lisbon which was incredible I didn't realize it
Starting point is 00:00:50 was such a child-friendly city but there was so much to do with a toddler and last year we did um Switzerland, Paris, Saint-Tropez, Cannes we went all over and I would say there was a lot of that that wasn't child-friendly which wasn't so much of a problem because she was more of a baby she wasn't as mobile obviously now she's a full-on toddler and so we do need places that are a bit more kid-friendly so that was really fun and just getting to spend time together as a family and then when we got back here um Stephenven and i actually went to a couple's retreat on our own which was absolutely incredible and it was really nice to have a family summer with all of us but then to kind of bookend the travel with a trip just me and steven and just really invest
Starting point is 00:01:39 in our relationship again i've shared before uh this is actually we're in a mastermind a couple's mastermind together. This was the second retreat. There was two retreats as part of this and it was a tantra mastermind and a tantra retreat. It was the best idea. I'm so glad we did this, you guys, because it has just brought us together in such an incredible way and just really helped us to deepen our relationship. There's a lot of power in doing somatic work together in intentional connection intimacy work all of that it's been a game changer for us and was just really really nice to get that intentional time and I highly recommend it and you don't
Starting point is 00:02:17 necessarily need to go and join a mastermind and go to a retreat or whatever you can create this yourself just booking a weekend away even if it's in the same city but just getting out of your house and having intentional time just you guys especially if you have kids oh my goodness I can count on one hand the amount of time the two of us have spent together since having Noemi like just us on a trip that was actually that retreat we went to was in Palm Springs we realized when we were at the airport this is the first time we've actually like been on an airplane without Noemi together we've done our individual trips for work I've gone and he's gone this was the first time that we've done it together and it was really really nice there was this feeling of like what it used to be like which by the way I would never ever want to go back to that because having Noemi's just been the most beautiful addition to
Starting point is 00:03:05 our family and it was just a really nice feeling to go back to that it was just us all weekend and we got to have breakfast together without a toddler deciding she doesn't want to eat like all the things you guys know so that was really really incredible really lucky and one thing that I want to talk about is we've talked about it before on this podcast, but the ultimate luxury being choice. Like I have talked before about the ultimate luxury being financial freedom, or maybe it's time freedom. And actually I think all of that comes down to the freedom of having the choice. Can you choose how you spend your time and if you have the financial freedom and the time freedom those two things come together to give you that choice
Starting point is 00:03:50 and that is a really incredible thing and recognizing that has made me really intentional about how I constantly create this in my life and most importantly how I give myself the authority to actually have the choice. Because I don't know about you, but I sometimes forget that I run my own business and that I'm my own boss. Like I sometimes forget that I make the deadlines. I make the decisions. I can get so caught up in deadlines and calendars and scheduling and project management and all that stuff. That I forget I can really decide what my schedule looks like and I really want to keep reminding myself of that and coming
Starting point is 00:04:31 back to actually having the choice I also have shared with you guys that really since May we haven't had any child care you know we've had family luckily step in to be able to support, but it's not been consistent. And I run multiple companies now and Stephen obviously does too. And we have a toddler that wants all of our attention. It's been a real juggle. Now, I intentionally made this decision. Our nanny was ready to go start her own family. So it was a natural progression for her to leave and go and get a job with I was just more suited for having a family and take some time so that to me felt
Starting point is 00:05:11 like a natural progression because I'd been feeling like maybe we had a bit too much child care I didn't know what would feel like the right fit for us because again choice that's the ultimate freedom and I wanted to have the choice I wanted to try on what different kinds of childcare would look like for us. And it was really amazing to have that time with her all summer, just months and months and months of us spending time together was amazing. And I think really, I have realized that I do want childcare that is going to give me a level of freedom that I just didn't have you know going for a hair appointment getting my nails done anything like that was virtually impossible forget about date nights forget about doing you know consistent
Starting point is 00:05:56 work getting anything done on a deadline like forget about it because when people say work and nap time I don't know how they're doing that because the you know she only naps for 60 to 90 minutes a day in that time I'm literally sitting on the sofa just like taking deep breath like okay let's take a rest and then get back into it uh and then when she goes down to bed I'm exhausted so it's been really nice to explore what that looks like and what an ideal situation would look like for us and now we do have a nanny again I feel like you guys are gonna feel a difference in my energy of like oh I'm not just trying to squeeze in this this during nap time or I'm not just getting this done the night before like a news that I'm actually prepped ahead of time it's gonna feel different I think yeah so
Starting point is 00:06:39 I'm just excited and I really I'm a big believer in energy and I already feel the energetic shift of having some support around the house and with Noemi because I feel like I have a renewed sense of energy for the business and for everything else so that's been really fun and I also just am feeling that back to school energy that September energy like I love this season especially living in Texas give me fall weather any day um so I'm really excited about that and I feel like that's gonna definitely play a part in the content we're creating and all of that stuff which speaking of other updates we have been expanding our content team which has been really exciting because I've shared with you guys I love having a small team and it takes a lot
Starting point is 00:07:23 for me to decide to bring someone else on the team because I am here to run a freedom-based business I'm not here to like run this humongous company with loads of team members loads of complexity and all the things so actually bringing on two new team members in the content department has been such a big deal for us and it's really exciting our full-time team is growing amazingly and I'm excited about it so again you're going to see some stuff I don't know if you've noticed but we have been charting like crazy this podcast has been climbing up the charts like crazy last time I checked we were like number eight on the business charts and with that as well we've had a lot of agencies and um yeah
Starting point is 00:08:00 agencies reaching out to us to partner in different things which right now I do enjoy just managing this ourself but who knows like I don't know what the future holds I'm open thought I would keep you updated on that because also like as business owners I'm sure you're all thinking the same stuff like do I want to move to an agency do I want to do this we really like I told you on a previous episode we cut down on a bunch of ads that we were doing to work with just a couple partners on bigger contracts and we manage the podcast in-house. We do work with Stephen's agency who do the producing of it, the editing, all of that stuff. But everything else we do inside of Boss Baby, that feels really good.
Starting point is 00:08:35 But we have because we've been charting so much and like crushing it, which I think in big part is down to you guys. I just want to say thank you for leaving reviews and sharing the episodes with people you know would love it because it makes a big difference and we're seeing that. We even had a couple of big features on Spotify, which got us trending, which is mind blowing. By the way, you guys, I was working like two hours a week this summer. Our podcast downloads doubled in two weeks
Starting point is 00:08:59 and we had no idea what happened because we didn't do anything differently. And double is, we're talking like tens and tens and tens of thousands of downloads extra than we normally have um and we looked into it and we found that we've actually been getting featured on spotify which is i think a manifestation because i'm like can i really work less but like change up my energy and pour my energy into one thing and see so i'm like a big believer of that we've talked about manifestation before big believer I think that's definitely what it was I'm very very excited about it so more of this please universe I welcome it I'm excited about it so yeah that's kind of let's
Starting point is 00:09:35 take a quick pause to talk about my new favorite all-in-one platform Kajabi you know I've been singing their praises lately because they have helped our business run so much smoother and with way less complexity which I love not to mention our team couldn't be happier because now everything is in one place so it makes collecting data, creating pages, collecting payment, all the things so much simpler. One of our mottos at Boss Babe is simplify to amplify and Kajabi has really helped us do that this year. So of course I needed to share it here with you. It's the perfect time of year to do a bit of spring cleaning in your business, you know, get rid of the complexity and instead really focus on getting organized and making things as smooth
Starting point is 00:10:15 as possible. I definitely recommend Kajabi to all of my clients and students. So if you're listening and haven't checked out Kajabi yet, now is the perfect time to do so because they are offering Boss Babe listeners a 30-day free trial. Go to kajabi.com slash Boss Babe to claim your 30-day free trial. That's kajabi.com slash Boss Babe. What we're up to at Boss Babe, we are going into a busy season. So we have a launch happening internally we're gonna do something super fun for Black Friday Cyber Monday and I have like I think it's at least 10 keynotes I should know the exact number but it's kind of changing very frequently I think I have 10 keynotes between September and December which blows my mind because I only did my first keynote this
Starting point is 00:11:03 time last year and I fell in love with it. And again, I think it's an energetic thing. I had the intention of get me on more stages. I want to do more of this and the universe has delivered. So I'm loving it. I'm really excited about this season. We have some amazing, amazing podcast interviews lined up, lots of travel. We're running a huge see your mama retreat in Miami our biggest and fanciest yet so we'll do a full debrief uh for that but I just want to say thank you for joining along and I I'm really committed to seeing what we can do with this business in a way that helps me live life in the one the way I want to live it it. Like I feel like I'm just past the point
Starting point is 00:11:45 of hustling my socks off 24 seven. I want to do things that are really aligned and actually be able to build the business around my life and prioritize what really matters to me. And I want to do it so that I can figure it out for all of us. Cause I don't know about you, but this balance thing feels like a myth
Starting point is 00:12:01 and I don't know how anyone's doing the balance thing. I want to figure it out. I want to be growing a massive business and I want to be really present with my baby and I want to be a great wife and a really good friend I will say you know even though it sounds quite idyllic I've taken so much time off this summer and traveling and being with family I haven't been a like in contact friend I took weeks and weeks off of social media I took weeks and weeks off of texting and voice noting and all of that stuff and there was a lot of people I like didn't respond to voice notes for weeks and weeks and in the past I would have gotten guilty about that and told myself a story of it makes me a bad friend and actually what I realized was I cannot be everything
Starting point is 00:12:51 to everyone all the time and I need to prioritize my priorities which right that summer were you know being a mum being a wife seeing, pouring into myself, spending time in nature and continuing to create the content in the business that I love and work with our partners and different team and thing that we've got going on. My plate was as full as I would have liked it to be. And I did let the ball drop when it comes to replying to all the texts and all the emails and checking in on everyone. I have a very, very, very small circle of best, best, best friends. And then I have a pretty big circle of friends. And I feel like it just hasn't been possible to be like in constant contact with people,
Starting point is 00:13:38 especially being on a different time zone. So things are always going to drop. And I really am giving myself grace with that and I'm not expecting myself to be everything to everyone and I'm not getting guilty about it like you know when I finally get back just acknowledging hey sorry that I haven't been in touch for a while I've really been taking time and um I just think it's important for us to know what we can and can't do in each season and not be not try and be everything to everyone because the number one person that's going to suffer is you and I didn't want to I didn't want
Starting point is 00:14:11 to be stretched so thin this summer I wanted to feel expansive and pour back into myself because I truly am feeling the difference on the other side I feel different I feel like I have had an energetic upgrade because I stepped back and slowed down and that is going to mean some things drop and I'm okay with that because I'm proud of how I've shown up as a mom as a wife as you know a sister cousin daughter granddaughter and ultimately how I've shown up for myself and still keeping our businesses running. We have made, you know, some huge moves over the summer and I have an amazing team and being able to let them step in and do the things that they're best at. It's been great. So lots of lessons on the other side of
Starting point is 00:14:56 that. If there's anything specific that I've kind of touched on in this episode that you want me to go deeper on, um, will you put it in a review the reviews just help us a ton like really I think this is really really helping us to get the podcast out there more but maybe put in there what you love about it but if there's specific topics that you do want me to cover more um that you would love a solo episode on put it on there because I um always listen to this and whenever I'm like putting together solo episodes, I go and look at those things and, and, and rift on that. So no riff,
Starting point is 00:15:27 not rift. Is it riff? It's riff, riff on that. So leave one of those. That would be an absolute game changer, but there's the little life update. I hope you listened while sipping on your coffee and,
Starting point is 00:15:36 and feeling like what probably you can see a lot of yourself in this journey too.
