She's a lifestyle blogger extraordinaire.
Fantastic.
And he's a serial entrepreneur.
A very smart cookie.
And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you alone for the ride.
Get ready for some major realness.
Welcome to the Skinny Confidential, him and her.
I was always surrounded by people that were being fixed, not because that they,
At that time back in the 80s, it wasn't about, I need a new nose.
It was, oh, I had a car crash.
My nose is off wonky, I need to fix it.
Or I had cancer, and now I don't have boobs.
Now I need to get like new boobs in.
So women would come in, crying, and then they would leave, you know, amazingly happy.
And I just kept seeing these people coming.
I'm like, wow, what an amazing gift to be able to give someone that confidence again
to walk out, you know, happy and confident with themselves, their body, their skin.
Hi guys, happy Friday. Welcome back to the skinny confidential, him and her show. That clip was from our guest of the show today, Georgia Louise. She is a major celebrity facelist and entrepreneur. Another show this week, two shows. Love one. It's two shows a week, don't you, Michael?
Love it. Absolutely love it. A lot of work, guys. A lot of work. No, it's not a lot of work. We love it. Today we have a super exciting show, especially if you're into beauty and skin.
like I am. Georgia Louise is on the show. And just to give a little background on Georgia,
my own background. I met her at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. She and Barbara Sturm came out
in the most fabulous faux furs. She was wearing hot pink. Barbara was wearing like a lemon lime moment.
And they came into the studio that I was getting a facial massage in and they just had all this
energy and so much knowledge. So I wanted to bottle it up and bring it on the show. So we did
two separate shows. We might do a roundtable with both of them too soon. So stay tuned for that.
But she just is so knowledgeable when it comes to skincare. And she has this beautiful spa in the Plaza
Hotel that everyone needs to check out. They do the best facial massage. And I mean, she's,
she's totally like famous within celebrities. Like she does some major, major people.
The Plaza Hotel is iconic too. Home Alone, too. The Plaza Hotel is so iconic.
Home alone too. Elieze, babe. Trump used to own it. And they have tea time, which I really
love like those tea sandwiches that are like cucumber uh what else is the no cucumber and what taylor i don't
i don't think taylor's the guy to ask about cucumber sandwiches yeah taylor knows all about cucumbers
he's not the guy he's not the guy he knows he's not doing tea time too often i don't think so
since i'm swollen right now because of surgery i thought this episode was the perfect episode to
give some swelling tips that have been working for me um we're going to talk about inflammation and
we're going to talk about ice and we're going to talk about all the facial beauty skin wellness things
in this episode. So these are a couple things that I've been doing that I've noticed have helped my
swelling. The first thing is a jaw bra. Now, at first I was like, oh, you only need a jaw bra if you're
swollen from a surgery like me. And then I started to use the jaw bra and I was like, oh my God,
this is kind of great if you have a double chin. You know what I mean? Because it like holds up
your face. It's really swell, Lauren, really swell. Why is it really swell, Michael? Didn't they
that they used to say, like, in the 50s, they were like, that's swell. Yeah, it's really
swell. You didn't get my joke. I didn't get it. So anyways, there's this jaw bra. It's on
Amazon, and it's apparently really popular in Korea after doing some research like I always have to do.
And a lot of women wear this around the house. I mean, you could make the bed in it. I like to work out in it.
I've been wearing it when I'm cooking. Whatever you're doing, you can wear this jaw bra and it, like,
holds your face up. So I don't know if that's a find. I got to keep trying it. But right now, I've been
wearing it on my face with ice in it. It's called a draw bra. And I feel like it's lifting my face
while also sculpting my face with the ice. So it's like a double whammy. The other thing that I've
been doing and I've been doing this every day and I'm swearing by it is chlorophyll. I did a whole blog
post and a video on the skinny confidential blog and YouTube. You can Google the skinny confidential
chlorophyll. You remember in, um, what's that movie? Clarifil. You mean borofil? Remember Adam Sandler
says that? Are you talking about Billy Madison? Billion, yeah. Wow. Let's get a,
Let's get it together.
So anyways, I'm drinking chlorophyll water right now, and there's so many benefits.
First of all, it's like your five-second green juice, which we love.
You just put a little drop in your water.
I do like 40 drops.
I think you're supposed to do like 20, but whatever.
I actually got this tip from a reader.
Shout out to Erica of the urban chicness.
And she said it really helped with altitude sickness.
I tried it.
It worked.
Anyways, so the tips, if you're swollen, is it's going to increase blood circulation.
It has vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential fatty acids.
And it also promotes digestive health.
So, I mean, if you have gut issues, drink up.
I just put it in my water bottle.
It tastes like mint.
It's a win-win.
And the third thing I've been doing is a lot of turmeric with black pepper.
Dr. Mona Van told me to do that.
And so did the food babe.
She has a great one.
It's called Truvani.
I've been doing that.
And I've been doing a lot of pure tea, a lot of water, obviously.
And then things like drinking pineapple juice, which pineapple, it's known to help with
swelling.
So if you're swollen or you feel puffy or you're hungover or whatever the fuck you are in your face and you're feeling bloated, try these tips.
Let me know how they go.
Always ice, though.
Ice, ice, ice, ice, ice, I ice all around the house in every which way.
You would be shocked at the way I ice.
Right, Michael?
Yep, that's right.
Lorne is the queen of ice icing.
She's the ice queen.
And I steal all her tools.
And I am like kind of like a mini ice king.
Just don't put the ice near your penis.
That would, yeah.
All right.
So that's a given.
Okay, let's get into the show.
So British-born Georgia Louise has been rated as one of the world's most sought-after facialist.
Established since 2006 in London, Georgia-Louise set up her famously acclaimed facial studio on Manhattan's Upper East Side,
offering high-end non-invasive facials.
She's rated as one of the best facials in New York City, and her technique and touch perfected over 20 years of pure hands-on passion.
She's an entrepreneur, a badass, and created the lift and sculpt method.
I'm a fan.
And with that, let's welcome Georgia to the first.
the skinny confidential, him and her podcast.
Before we get into the interview, I want to tell you about what I do when Michael is hypoglycemic.
Okay?
Here's a hot tip.
I carry food in my purse.
If I don't do this, I get in trouble.
Michael gets very, very hypoglycemic.
So what I do is I have like a stash of bars in my purse at all times.
And lately, I've been carrying around go macro bars.
Personally, my favorite is the coconut almond butter chocolate chip bar.
It's so good.
It's under 100 calories.
And it's just, it's this vegan, dark chocolate chip.
I keep a bunch of them in my purse.
And what's great is they're mini.
So they're the mini bars.
They're not the big ones.
And this is great if Michael starts to act up and throw his theatrical fits.
So these bars that I like are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, non-GMO organic, kosher, and soy-free.
Soy is a big one for me.
I feel like soy, people try to add soy into everything.
And the fact that go-macro bars don't have soy is very, very helpful.
You know what else? I love stories and companies like this. This is a mother-daughter-owned and
operated company. One of the slogans for the company is that all the ingredients are grown and not
made, which just goes to reinforce all of the natural, organic, plant-based ingredients in these
products. The ones that I, like I said, would recommend are the coconut, almond,
butter, and chocolate chip ones, but I also like the peanut butter and chocolate chip. So,
try those two, and like I said, they're mini bars, which we love. And they're available in
over 25,000 stores, as always. We have a promo code for you.
Yes, it's a really good promo code. Guys, go to go Macro.com and use promo code skinny for 30% off and free shipping. That's a really, really generous offer code.
Guys, give this company a try. We love it. The products are, they speak for themselves. And if you don't believe us, check out their custom reviews on their site. There are so many five-star reviews across every single product that they make. So check it out.
And you know what's also fun? You could also roll the coconut almond butter chocolate chip bars into little balls and give them to your kids. I feel like I would do that.
I was a mom. All right, definitely grab some of these bars to hold in your purse for if your
husband or significant other gets hypoglycemic and let me know how it goes.
This is the skinny confidential, him and her.
You all leaped up and you'll walk out listening.
Wish I could say it'd be the first time that happened to me.
Okay, my first question is just one. Is Michael glistening or not?
No, he's got beautiful, radiant skin.
What have you been all my life?
I don't know.
Over here.
God, damn.
In a basement in facials.
I don't get those kind of compliments from you.
Okay, I want to go way back.
I want to know how you even got into the skincare industry.
I have to think my mother, quite honestly,
because she worked for a cosmetic surgeon or her life,
and I was always surrounded by people that were being fixed,
not because at that time back in the 80s,
it wasn't about, I need a new nose.
It was, oh, I had a car crash.
My nose is all wonky, I need to fix it,
or I had cancer, and now I don't have boobs,
now I need to get new boobs in.
Or so women would come in crying and then they would leave, you know, amazingly happy.
And I just kept seeing these people coming.
I'm like, wow, what an amazing gift to be able to give someone that confidence again to walk out, you know, happy and confident with themselves, that body, their skin.
And so I remember when I was 12, I was just so fascinated with skincare.
And my mom, she has Indian French origin, would literally like bathe her skin in oil at night.
So I'd see her brush her teeth and then get out the cleanser toner from Dachlior.
and smother her skin with oil and she would massage her skin for five to ten minutes a night.
I'm like, what is my mum doing?
But I remember on my 11th birthday, she gave me my first oil.
And then together at night, it was like a mom and daughter duo would go to the bathroom,
cleanse our skin, and then all our skin, lube our skin with oil,
and give it a really good massage.
And it was just some sort of ritual between me and my mother.
We never really had a close relationship, but it really bonded us.
It was like our time together.
And from that moment onwards, I would literally teach my friends in cubicles at school how to like cleanse,
tone and moisturise and massage their skin.
And so I remember, I was either going to go to college and like do art or something really creative.
And I'm like, no, screw this.
I'm going to, I want to be a beauty therapist.
I want to like make people happy with their skin.
That's where my talent lies.
I love to like massage skin.
And so when I was 16, I went to a beauty school and did beauty and business.
It was awesome.
It was a combined course where you do beauty and business together.
And there I was.
I was there doing this course.
And when I graduated, I worked for a health spa for two years.
And I learned with Declior and Clarence and Gino and aromatheraping associates and all of the big, big, big company houses.
And I just learned so much from them.
And what I realized was that they all had a protocol.
And you could only do one set facial and you couldn't like think out of the rounds.
You literally had to do their seven steps and that was it.
But what about if someone came in and she had a little acne, but she also had dry skin?
And she didn't just want to use, you know, the marine algae, but she also wanted to have a clinical, you know, product as well as the marine algae.
Or she wanted the hot mask, but she also wanted the massage of the shoulders.
There wasn't anything like that.
It was literally pigeonholed into one protocol.
And so I thought, you know what, I'm just going to muddle this up and do my own thing.
And it became the bespoke custom facial.
So I'd be running around, like pinching from Dachlione.
pinching from Claren's, one of their products,
and mish-mashing into this, like, experience
that was completely customized to a client.
And back then, it wasn't about customization.
People would look at you and go, well, I want to choose this off the menu.
I'm like, no, I want to give you this because your skin needs this.
And so I had a bit of a reputation for being a bit naughty, I suppose.
People just don't know, right?
They were like, who is this Georgia?
Like, why is she, like, doing all these crazy facials?
And so I said, you know what?
There's a real market for this.
And I love to be, you know, I like to work for myself.
I like doing my thing with my clients.
Let's just do my own thing.
So I opened up my first bar when I was 18.
Oh my gosh.
And I didn't have a clue about business.
I swear to God, I had no idea what I was doing.
I just literally knew that I love to do facials and I love to massage and I'm just going to go for it.
And so I did.
I learned a lot.
I made a lot of mistakes.
And here I am.
I'm still going strong.
Where at 18 did you open your first?
London.
London town.
So I had a place, Fulham Road, off Kings Road.
so I don't know if you're familiar to that neighborhood.
But we're there for Christmas.
We love Lundzen.
Beautiful.
And you're excellent.
So soothing.
Like it's,
could I just put you to sleep?
Yeah.
I want you to count.
A couple compliments.
Let's go to sleep.
God,
I must sound so annoying because I have such a high-pitch boy.
I love it.
I think you sing a little bit, right?
Because I can tell.
We don't want.
You can say.
I bet you can hear it.
Check my Instagram stories.
I just put up my little mermaid snap today.
See?
I knew it.
I knew it.
It's very high-pitched.
Disney. So you just said that you made mistakes along the way. What are some of the mistakes that
you look back on? Maybe you are glad that you made because you learned something from them.
I think, you know, and you're so young. And I think right now you see a lot of like young entrepreneurs,
right? They're like coming out of like their diapers and they're making money. I mean, it's insane.
I know one of my clients who's like eight and he's like made like his first 15,000 selling sneakers.
It's just insane. It's the world that we've lived in today. And I think it's truly aspirational and
amazing. But for me, you know, I did a business course, but of course I didn't like go to like,
you know, like, business school and like got all my, you know, my eggs on the basket, figuring out
legal aspects and contracts. And so, you know, 18, you're gallopal, you got your eyes wide open.
You think the world's at your feet. And to be honest, you do kind of think, you know all because
you just think that, yeah, I'm 18. I can drink. I've got a car. I'm an big person, you know.
Right. And so I took on this space and I just like had a love of it. I was too blinded by the beauty of
this space.
and to think about all that legalities.
And so two years into it, you know, I had a great clientele.
I built it from the ground up and clients were loyal and everything was booming.
And I had a team of three and it grew to four and five.
And the landlord just saw that I was doing so well.
And he came to me and said, listen, I'm going to sell this business.
I bought a laser.
It's like $40,000.
What do you mean?
I can't pound.
What do you mean?
I can't.
I just bought something.
think what do you mean well you know I've had a lot of interest in in this salon and I think it
would do really well and I was literally screwed I mean what do you do you say sell the business
he was going to sell the space out from under your own yeah and so he did and so I had to declare
bankruptcy I lost everything I um I'm a very proud person I asked my parents for money and I remember
going uh to the court and declaring my last dollar and I remember I just came back from skiing for the
first time when I pulled my knee and I was in a crutch and I'm like, what the heck am I going to do?
I'm like bankrupt.
I can barely walk.
I've just lost my business, but you know what?
I'm like 21 and I'm still so passionate by the industry.
So I'm just going to start all over again.
And so the experience there was that don't always go blinded and have someone help you.
Like always get some business advice before you go into anything because you just never know who's
going to like, you know, screw you.
And it does happen, right?
I mean, people can get jealous of what you're doing,
so you just want to make sure that you've got firm contracts,
whatever you do, and always invest in a lawyer,
even if it's through an agency or for someone that's wiser and older being there done that.
Like, don't just go in with your wise open.
Always have, you know, a contract that you know is safe going forward.
Another thing I remember was I was so eager about making skincare
and I did a formulating course and I used to make everything in my kitchen
and it was like an apothecary in my kitchen
and it smelled like rose paddle.
It was amazing.
Oh, I wish we could go back and see that.
I mean, seriously, I would one day come over
and I'll teach you how to make some stuff.
But I remember like, there I am with my boyfriend.
I'm like, oh, my God, I've seen this like French bottle.
It's amazing.
I just see my brand taken off.
This bottle is beautiful.
It's got a thick wall.
This lit is rose gold and it's just going to feel so good in someone's hand.
They need 20,000 of these.
I need to order it.
I'm like, I'm going to order 20,000 bottles.
because it's going to like change my life.
It's like, what are you doing?
Like, why are you going to stick 20,000 bottles?
Like, there's no room in your, like,
cavernette to stick 20,000 bottles.
And I think when you're that young,
you just think you can do anything.
And you don't think about, well, what would happen?
Where am I going to store those 20,000 bottles?
You know, and how am I going to afford to store those 20,000 bottles?
So those little things that you sort of live and learn along the way.
And you end up, you know, don't rush before you can walk, right?
Take your time and always invest in one thing.
If you're going to do something amazing, do one thing that's amazing.
Don't go and do three or four things.
That's good advice for young people because you get distracted.
You get distracted and you think that you can do everything
because you kind of feel like you're like this empress of skincare that can.
But ultimately, you just take your time and do one thing right.
I want to take a second to talk to you about one of our favorite partners,
For Sigmaic.
Okay.
If you are listening to this podcast and you haven't tried Four Sigma, you're missing out.
What the hell are you doing?
Guys, you got to try the hot cacao one.
If you like spicy, get the spicy one.
If you don't, there's one that's not spicy.
But I'm telling you, a big mug of four-sigmatic hot cacao is like a hug from your
grandma when you're laying in bed watching housewives at night trying to wind down.
I even add a squeeze of lemon to it.
Guys, we've been talking about this company for so long.
We've had their founder on this show.
We take it pretty much every day.
My office drawers are stocked with the mushroom focus shots.
I cannot podcast without taking one of those ahead of time.
They just released a new product called their mushroom coffee latte,
which is very similar to their mushroom coffee with lions made except now you get a little bit of a latte mix.
So get a little bit more of that milky latte feeling.
Guys, these are mushroom products that can replace traditional coffee.
So sometimes you need a little break.
Sometimes we get the jitters, get a little bit of anxiety from coffee.
And this is a perfect replacement to get a little bit of a caffeine boost.
So some benefits of mushrooms, because that's important.
Mushrooms assist in weight loss, lower stress levels, we need this, promote healthy skin,
have anti-aging effects, and they're even huge players in the role of preventing disease.
So they're a star.
They're a standout star.
There's something that you can easily add to anything you're eating, and they taste good.
So go check them out.
And, of course, as always, a little promo code for you guys.
Guys, go to 4Sigmatic.com slash skinny and enter promo code Skinny at checkout.
That's F-O-U-R-S-I-G-M-T-I-I-C dot com slash Skinny.
And I promote Skinny for 15% off your entire order.
Guys, if you don't know about mushrooms in 2019, where you've been, what rock you've been
hind under.
And if you want a little bit more information, check out episode 116, I believe, when
the founder of Four Sigma Taro came on the show.
He's also become a good friend.
So check them out, foursigmatic.com slash skinny.
Enjoy the mushrooms, guys.
So how do you go from being 21 with skincare in your house to having one of the most
amazing, insane spas in the Plaza Hotel in New York City?
You know, like they always say, you know, it's 10 years, right, before you really can make it
big. And I guess I can say it's definitely a good 10 years, right? And, you know, I never really
spent a penny on advertising or marketing. It was all word of mouth. And thank goodness
for the word of mouth and spreading referrals. And my first article was in Tatler magazine.
Olivia Falcon, she's awesome from London. She wrote my first article. And she was like,
I'm loved to tell you about George Louise
because now the secret's up.
And from that moment onwards, the phone would ring.
And back then, editorial's really worked.
You know, now it's all, you know, Instagram and social media,
but back then it really worked.
And so editors were flocking and social lights were coming
and it was booming.
And I met my husband, American,
he was transferred to London and he said,
do you want to do, you know, aspire in like America?
And I just think, yeah, like, Hollywood, you know, and the little dreamy lights of me,
we're like, yeah, let's try this.
It's funny because we want to go to London and you want to come to here.
Right. It's so interesting, isn't it?
It's weird.
Grass is always greener.
I don't know, I guess.
If you can make it anywhere, you make it in New York, right?
So there we were.
That's true.
That's true.
So I'm like, okay.
And it's insane because you spent a lot of time building a client base, you know,
and that's your brand and butter when you're doing skincare.
and then I ended up making the products and selling them to my clients and they loved them.
They would give it to their friends.
And then I had to start all over again in New York.
Can you imagine?
Like I went from like 100% having a place from Philling was the first location.
The second location was on Butcham Place.
And that's a really chic street and Knightsbridge.
I used to love it.
I used to literally go to like Harrod's bakery and get my breakfast there every morning.
I mean, it was a dream like location and Princess Diana would go shopping upstairs.
You know, so you would see her all the time.
it was kind of special.
And then from that moment onwards,
I had to start all over again in New York.
So I didn't have any clients.
So I decided to be...
We did care of the reputation carryover a little bit?
Tiny bit impressed, I suppose.
So I remember saying to a manufacturing company that makes machines,
hey, if ever you need a trainer or someone to help out,
like call me and I'll be there.
Like, I'm just moved here from New York
and I don't have clients and I'm available to help whatever you need me to do.
Just tell me.
And so they called me within a week.
And they said, oh, we have a client that has a...
a microcurrent machine and it's broken.
So we kind of want you to go over there and fix it and play with it.
And then we'll tell you how to do it.
So I'm laughing, thinking, I'm not an engineer.
I'm an ascetician, but okay, fine.
So, you know, we did like a little, like conference call.
They showed me how to repair my own microcurrent machine.
And so a week later, I'm walking into a celebrity's home.
And I had my little case of tools in her voice, Canadian voice.
The machine is over there in the corner.
and I'm going to be on the Pilates ball
and I literally like freaked out
because it was Linda Evangelista
and I'm like oh no
like what have I done
I'm not an engineer and I'm about to fix
this girl's machine and she was there
on her platoes ball waiting for her machine
to be fixed and I'm like you know
chewing gum so I managed to open up
the machine and repair the circuit board
by taking out my gum
putting the wires together
salmaging them together
I had some blue tape
tape the board down and put the machine back together again.
And sweating buckets admittedly, because I was so nervous, switched the machine back on and it lit up like a beacon.
I'm like, oh, my God, thank you.
I'm now an engineer.
And then she walked over, oh, it's now up.
I said, yes, it's working.
And I said, so when you do the microcurrent, make sure you flick this switch up to 100%,
and you want to make sure you do gliding gulgy and you've got to switch to the right current.
When you use a probe, and she was like, slow down.
Like, I don't know any of this.
I said, well, why don't you to slow down?
She goes, but you're an engineer.
I said, no, I'm an ascetician.
Two hours later, she looks at me because she was horizontal on her couch.
Can you come back tomorrow?
So I ended up being her ascetician.
I had no clients.
I had Linda, right?
So I'd like, no, I had like a bottle of cleanser and toner, not a screwdriver.
And she became a really close client and friend.
And she's not a godmother to my kids, you know.
Wow.
It's amazing.
And she really, like, put me on the map.
You know, she introduced me to her world.
And then it was, I think, Anna,
winter helped me as well. Very nice. And Gucci Westman, she was Linda's neighbor and she knocked one day
and it was like seven and I just finished Linda's facial and she was like, what are you doing to
your skin? She goes, the secret. She's over there on the couch. And so Gucci, I mean, I didn't know
who Gucci was. I'm a London girl. Like, I don't know who Gucci is or any of these like fashion
people because it wasn't my world. And she goes, can I have whatever you're doing and can I see
next week when you see Linda.
I'm like, okay, fine.
So then I had Linda, then I had Gucci.
And then Gucci got up one day.
She goes, I can introduce you to the world.
I'm like, well, I don't know what that means.
She goes, you don't understand.
And I had no idea who Gucci Westman was.
I mean, she's just a neighbor next door.
But she was, you know, the makeup creative director for Ravlon.
And she knew the world.
I mean, she had so much power and she was the kindest person.
And she really is someone that on today, I respect her.
And I've shouted out on my Instagram to say, like, thanking her for everything.
Because she really introduced me to some incredible people.
And it's not just celebrities that I treat.
You know, it's the school teacher.
It's a neighbor down the road.
It's a teenager that's got acne.
It's really an amazing client base that I have built.
And it all stand from that, you know.
And I think the power of America and what I'll tell people in business is that if you're good and if you're passionate,
and if you're nice and if you believe in what you're doing, people will help you.
Like, that's the land of America for me.
It is.
I have to tell you being European and coming from London, it's very different.
Like, people are a bit quieter about sharing good news or what's happening or what's good.
People are quieter in just general over there, right?
We go over there and I always feel like we're like the loud Americans are like, oh, shit, here they are, you know.
Right.
So it was nice.
And I came here and it was, it was a whirlwind for me.
Like, it was a domino effect.
happened really quickly. And then I was making my products and now it's got into devices. So I now
sell tools and equipment and we're about to launch in Barneys, which is so exciting. I mean,
that was like the icing on the cake. Like I remember like wishing one day, my brand of being Barneys.
And now it's happening. So it's all, it's good. It's coming. It's growing still. So what is the main,
what is the secret to skin? Like what's the main thing you see in common when people come to
to you to have their skin fixed or helped or improved.
I think you have to just understand what's wrong with their skin,
because so many people don't really understand their skin type.
So as long as you can figure out what their skin type is
and give them a really solid foundation and regimencing,
because I think the power is I can do all the prep work for you
and work skin deep, but you also have to do the homework.
So it's really important that you do the homework
and that you do your eight steps that you told me earlier, right?
Well, a lot exaggerated.
I think I have like maybe four, five, five, five.
But it's because I keep having these conversations and learning more and more about it.
But it took me, it took me a while.
I mean, like for literally 30 years of my life, I did nothing.
Right.
I mean, the foundation of beautiful skin is cleansing, actually.
And, you know, people think, oh, just going to quickly, like, wash my face of water
and use some, like, set afoul.
I'm not bad mouth in that.
But, you know, if you really want to have beautiful skin, you have to double cleanse.
You have to use an oil to get the oil out of it.
the skin because it pours out the oil.
You have to use a cream cleanser because it's hydrating and nourishing full of amegas and fatty
acids, which is going to, like, create a lipid barrier so you don't dry out.
And then you have this beautiful, dewy, hydrated cleanse.
And it sets you up for everything else.
So when you start layering your experience.
What are the brands?
I need specifics on this.
Oh, God, really?
Just give us a couple.
Georgia Louise.
Okay.
Mom is my favorite bum.
It's organic.
It's got Roman Cammer Mills, so really calming and soothing.
I have to say,
like lamera. I like the, I like the, um, I like the, um, I like the Le Mersler water as well. It's beautiful.
And what I said when you walked in, I said it, you smell like Lamera. He's not Lamar,
lip balm. The other day I stole her lamara. She knew because of the way I smelled. The other day,
this motherfucker gets in bed and I'm like, what? You could, you've been, you've been using my cram.
I go, did you, we have separate bathrooms because that's the key of marriage. That's like,
golden cream, by the way. I go. I know. And you know what? He's like slobbing it on. Like, it's like, I knew enough. No, no, no. I
enough to use a little. It's a miracle barrage. I had a, um, didn't a buddy of ours used it like on his
legs or something? My friend Maricio thought it was a body cream. It was my friend Gillian's cream.
And just used it, just lathered up. And she came in and he had thick Lemaire all over his arms and
legs. She was, I didn't do that. I knew enough to just do a little bit. But it's good enough
for J-Lo, it's good enough for you, right? That's true. That's what I've been telling everyone.
Okay, so you like the Georgia Louise bomb Le Maire and then is there? I love Inviron. I love Barbara
storm, of course.
Yes.
Her farming cleanser is really good.
It's really, really good.
I like Enviouran's Youth Essential Line of Cleansing.
It's like a beautiful, like, brightening cleansing experience.
It's pretty.
Belogic resage, VIPO2.
It's a beautiful oxygenating cleanser.
It really, like, brightens up your skin.
So walk me through your nighttime skin routine.
Say you have your makeup on and you want to get it all off and you want to clean your skin.
Are you doing it in the shower?
first and then moving it into the bathroom or is it like a whole steps?
It's a whole, God, I close the door from the kids.
Okay.
I like the cans of on it's like a whole ritual, you know, like I start with Mersele water,
Le Mersla water, take off my eye makeup, remove my eye makeup.
And to be honest, I don't wear a lot of makeup, as you can see.
It's like mascara and I have a Le Mare compact on.
That's it.
So I start with the Mersla water and then after we remove their makeup, I then used the balm
because the balm is like the first oil cleanse
and I serenadelessly like massaged it into my skin
and then I remove that with a warm towel
so you pull out all the oil and all the debris right
I'm going to be taking notes on this
and then I reach for depending on my skin
and it's like I have an arsenal like I have like five cleanses to pick from by the way
five toners to pick from it is it bad to switch
or do you like you want to pick one per week or you want to switch it up
you want to switch it up depending you want to read how your skin is
if your skin is dry go for the milky hydrating cleanser
If your skin is oil, you go for the cleansing wash and foam it all out, right?
So if my skin is feeling dry, I'm going to go for the VIPO2 from Biologic Rajash,
because it's really oxygenating and brightening.
Equally, if my skin is oily, I'm going to go for George Louis Ph.
Perfecting Cleanser, which has AHAs, PHAs and BHAs to exfoliate the skin.
So once I've done my two-step cleanse, which is the oil and then the cleanser,
I then go ahead and tone the skin dry with Kleenex tissue.
then I tone my skin.
And toning means introducing hydration back into the skin,
preventing the skin from feeling stripped and dry.
You're re-basically hydrating the layers of skin.
So toning is an important step in this process.
So we're down to how many products now?
Right now she's done an oil bomb, a warm towel, a foaming cleanser, a tone.
What's the toner that we need?
Depending on how your skin is feeling, like I said, you can go ahead and use, for example, P50.
Everyone loves that.
I've never tried that.
good if your skin is oily. I get I have like breakouts believe it on it. I have an oily skin so that's
that's a great one if your skin's breaking out. And then if your skin is a little like dry for example,
then I like to use the environe sequence toner which is really like umviron which is like
nourishing and peptise. It's tightening and it's like glistens on the skin. It's really nice.
And then I like to spritz with rose water. So I like Lamar rose water. It's just like really
hydrating and nourishing.
Don't, Michael, don't even think about it.
I'm like an obsessive skincare.
I'm a skincare junkie.
You don't say.
So once I've raised my skin, then we get down to layering.
So it's all about layering.
Or have you been layering or what?
Lairing.
So let me tell you how to layer it up.
So think of it like you're in your, you know, you're in your commando, so you're your
naked body and you start dressing yourself, right?
So you put in your underwear first, then you put on your t-shirt if it's cold,
then you put on your woolly pullover, and then you put on your coat.
So it's the same thing as layering.
So you want to go for the lightest item for your skin first,
and then the thickest is the cream.
So when you set up your cabinet, which I should do for you one day,
which is, by the way, a great business opportunity for anyone out there.
They want to go and sort out in skincare cabinets.
It's a total dream job.
But you should look at putting the water ones that go first.
So like a liquid like water.
and then you would then put an oil next, like lay them in order or thickness, so lightest the heaviest.
So because you don't want to put an oil on because, and then you use a serum because it's not going to push through the skin.
So you use your water-based, like for example, Barbara's chloronic acid is amazing.
You could put that on first, right, because it's super hydrating.
It really penetrates quickly.
It's more water-based.
This is the first time I've ever seen her with a notebook.
I'm so sorry.
Why would I not copy?
She's getting her.
I get it.
This is her protocol.
Don't come fucking ask me what the list was tonight.
Because I know you're going to do that.
A little snap of the note.
He's going to come in and ask me, he's doing this all the wrong way.
Okay, so we're at the water oils.
You like the hyloronic.
Yeah, I like the haleronic acid.
And then if you've got some scarring or breakouts, I would say use my stem cell.
I can send you some of my stem cell.
Stem cell.
Yeah, apple stem cell.
So that's really, I'd have a water-based one.
So then you want to lay those together.
and then you can actually massage them in together because they're both the same lipid base.
So once you've got that down, then you can start to use a thicker-based serum.
So for example, I may use a retinal A.
I think retinal A is the best thing for breakouts, for fine lines.
It's really the most proven anti-Asian product out there still.
But you want to use a non, in my opinion, from a skincare point of view,
not to use one that's prescribed, go for one that's a vitamin A like skincare one
because it doesn't irritate the skin.
And irritation is like the worst thing you can do.
So, for example, I like my vitamin A.
It's really gentle and it doesn't, like, make the skin red or breakout.
And then...
Michael uses retinal A and doesn't know it and went to get his brows waxed.
Oh, and then you had no...
And then you were red for two weeks, right?
It was...
Oh, that's messy business.
Well, Lauren sent me to do this, and I love the woman who does it.
Lindsay asks every woman if she's using retinal.
But Lindsay didn't...
think that a man would be using retinal. How would I know? Well, first of all, I didn't know I was using
retinal. And second of all, I wouldn't know to ask for that. But yes, I was walking around and it looked
like my eyes were thrown. That just happened to our friend last week. I was like, what,
did you get punished? I was really concerned. I'm like, oh my God, are you okay? Because now I've got
my eyes wax. I'm like, oh my goodness. I just told everyone I was like, I got in a really
brutal street fight. I was out there was being really tough. I couldn't go around this office full of
women and say that was, you know. Okay, so we're on retinol. And then go ahead and use your cream.
So you could either use the cram, then you're a lemur fan,
or you could use your blood cream with the breath, you know.
And then you want to like apply a little oil to like keep it sealed in.
So use my sleeping beauty oil.
And it acts like a top coat.
You know, when you use something like an oil, it literally looks and feels like a top coat.
And it just keeps everything hydrated in the skin.
And then if you're really good, you'd apply an eye cream.
So I can't even tell you how many steps it is, but it looks like it's more than 10.
But there you are.
That's me down.
For people?
Or then I massage my skin.
Oh, and then sometimes I use a device.
So it could be a pulse and glow, which is a little like microcarcan, galvanic current.
I love my pulse and glow.
You got one.
What if you're, okay, say you're a novice.
Yeah.
Sorry to anyone thinking that's a cook.
But it does work.
And I'm like, okay, that was just a lot.
Where do I start?
So strip it down.
I would say do one cleanse, definitely do a tone.
Pick one serum that you, you know, it's a multitasking, all around good serum.
and, you know, use a retina on a cream.
Okay.
That's doable.
Skip the eye cream.
You could use the cream, you know, a little bit.
I mean, eye creams are, you know, questionable.
Do you like vitamin C?
Vitamin C is for the morning.
I use it in the morning.
So you use your A for night and you use your C for morning.
You know, I can see is an antioxidant.
So it basically is a free regical scavenor.
So basically it's like a major, like, boost of antioxidants.
So it's great for sun protection as well.
not that it's actually sun protection, but it really helps to prevent damage on the skin.
At nighttime, you're rebuilding and repairing, so you use your vitamin A at night.
So see for day and I use the sea in the morning because I get black eyes, like dark eyes.
Right, and it brightens you up, right?
Yeah.
What are your thoughts on sunscreen?
I think they're really important right now.
I mean, I'm more of a fan of like, you know, full spectrum, you know, like sunblocks, really.
I like mineral-based.
They're then chemical-based.
mineral ones you just don't burn
like I find that you can't always trust the ones
of chemicals because you generally
can burn so I like zinc
you know like titanium based
minerals you know mineral based
SBS really important I need to check mine
what you should yeah this is a question
that I get asked all the time because when I get a
facial I micromanage the whole situation
like I tell her exactly what I want
is there something that
if someone's listening and they want to go
find a facialist what are things that
they can tell their facialists to do
to get really great benefits from the facial.
I think first time going, you know, you want to probably get like a really good cleanse,
you know, because I think sometimes if you haven't been for a while,
you've got congestion in your skin and you need to like look at, you know, black heads
and like thick skin.
So go and get a really good cleanse because you don't want to like jump in
and start doing too many invasive things before you even know the person that's treating you
and you don't want to have too much risk with too many like two heavy-duty machines
like radio frequency at that point.
So my advice is like when you start,
relationship, you don't want to, like, jump into bed, right? You want to, like, you know, like, be
careful and take it slow. So take it a little slower and, like, do a nice cleansing
treatment to get your skin really well prepped. And remember, cleansing is the key to, and the
foundation to beautiful skin. So go in with a good cleansing treatment and ask her to really hydrate.
Because 99.8% of the population is dehydrated. And so if you go in asking for a cleansing and
hydration facial, then that's a really good way to test a relationship. I had major, major jaw
surgery and I'm constantly swollen still four years later, which is why I love facial massage.
Like that's what I saw your your, um, your, your, your Instagram when you had the amazing
Russian massage and you were like crazy in love with it.
That's beautiful.
That was gnarly.
He was, he was, he was, that was a different experience.
I've never had an experience like that.
He's less of a facialist, more of a masseuse.
Got it.
But if I could mix a facialist with that, it would be heaven for me.
Then you need to come to Georgia Louise, because we're.
I've specialised. I mean, I'm also a masseuse, so I also trained to do massage,
is aeromatherapy, sports massage.
So one of the biggest things that stood me out, I guess,
from a lot of other asceticians was my lift and sculpt massage,
which I created 10 years ago.
And it's funny because I look at his videos,
and it's very similar technique with the lifted and sculpting,
and we're literally, like, digging into the muscle to move the belly up
and to, like, you know, contour the skin.
So we spend in our treatments 10 to 15 minutes just doing that technique
during your facial.
When we stay at the plaza, you're going to love it.
So you had a little bit with a little bit of a tap, didn't you when you were there?
Didn't I have that facial at the Victoria's Secret Show?
Mimi said, Mimi and I were both like, this is one of the best facials we've ever had.
I can't wait for you to have a full 19 minute.
Well, I'm coming in April.
Maybe I'll have to invite myself him because Lauren seems to bar me out.
She's barring me out.
Because I all keep nothing.
Well, who is going to like, I think who's going to tax Nancy first because she's the gatekeeper.
Hi, Nancy, I was annoying you.
I said, we have to get Georgia on the podcast.
Like we can't.
So what I'm curious about and what I really admire about you is how you're able to scale a business while also doing what you love.
So, you know, an example for me is I started as a blogger and blogging is like my one true love.
But as I grow, I understand that I need to be able to scale the business.
And that's hard when you fall in love with giving the facials.
But now it's like you have to, you know, be.
traveling and be on social media and all these different things.
How do you manage that?
You know, my husband's in finance and so he was on it's all about scalability, scalability.
I'm like, it's just about passion, passion, passion.
So he sort of like helped me, I suppose, like getting my head in gear.
And, you know, like, because at end of the day, my body's going to wear out.
Like, you know, I'm not getting any younger and it's physical labor.
I mean, it's sometimes like eight hours and I'm hunched over and I have TACNAC.
And I'm like paranoid that I'm going to have gels and I'm going to have like a saggy
neck.
But equally my back hats, my joints.
hurt, right? So my engine's going to run out at some point. So another thing for me is that I can't
touch the whole world. You know, I can't, there's only so many hours I have and so many
appointments I can see. So I realized that I needed to create a protocol for home care so that people
that couldn't come to see me or they couldn't honestly afford to see me, they could actually
experience Georgia Louise at home. So then I started to create the George Louise skin care kits,
you know, with the modalities such as the freeze tools, which are an amazing way to represent
the cryo fish that we do in the atelier and this really helps to come and sculpt the skin.
I also have my guasha butterfly stone which I created 10 years ago in London and it's an amazing
rose quartz stone which literally like sculpts the skin. So it's great because now not only do I,
you know, have the business working in this bar, but I have products that people can now touch and
even if they don't see me they're using and watching my app like I have the app now so you can
actually follow a lot of the stuff in my app where you can see all the traditional.
And then it was always about me and everyone always wanted to see George Louise.
Well, I'm only going to go if I can see you.
But I'm like, well, it's really hard just to see me because I'm really quite busy.
So I've trained like these amazing asceticians now.
So all of the asceticians at the Atelier are all trained in George Louise.
So they have the same machines.
They know how to lift and sculpt.
So growing it that way is great.
I always have people that like the different pillars of my business.
And I think that when you have a business, you want to figure out what are your pillars because there's different brand
pillars, right? So like you, you're a major, like, mega, like, influencer. I'm not even
there yet, you know, I've only got 32,000, 40,000.
You guys follow her. I mean, seriously, like, I, you know, I, we've got, I was late in the
game of Instagram. And then the, the second pillar is the spa, which is the clients and, you know,
the treatments. And the third pillar is skincare and selling products to clients. And the fourth is
devices, because devices are what, you know, are able to have the facials at home.
about that big price tax so that you can have an amazing facial at home if you do a device.
So that's how we're growing the business.
And I think that ultimately you're at the forefront of that, right?
So that's your brand and that's your baby.
And then you basically just have to make sure that whatever you're doing has like that golden seal
and that standard.
And as long as you are having a standard and everything that you're doing, it can work, you know.
How important is social media to your business?
It's insane.
Like I honestly, we don't worry about anything.
else now like i would say 20% of my clients for the girls not for me it's always stand by social
media and the minute we post something we get like a jump in sales on our instagram through our
shopify account our website ecommerce site it's been amazing like i um it totally opened up a new door
for me and i always tell people that the more you give it it's like a beast it's like the more
you feed it the more people want they want to see you in your bathroom they want to see you in
bed of a device on. It's like my husband doesn't get the world. He's like, why is your phone out
again? Like, what do you do? I'm like, well, I'm trying to help people like take care of
themselves and I'm the brand name of my business and so I have to be personal. And I'm okay
with it because you know what? I know that I'm going to make a difference in someone's lives.
And I like the fact that I can like put a random post on and it's me cleansing my skin. But yeah,
you know, 39,000 people are. It's instant connection. It's great. And then it's, I'm happy.
people and that's what I was, you know, put on this I have to do is to give confident skin and make
people feel good about themselves. And if that's my, if that's my platform, then that's my
platform, you know, let's see where it goes. Do you have any morning rituals that you can share
with the audience? Like, for instance, I like to meditate. I have like a water that I drink.
Is there anything that you do every morning that's non-negotiable? Well, you know, for me, I have my
kids, right? So I have a two-year-old and I have a six-year-old. So my ritual is to always spend time with
them in the morning so I make their breakfast for them. We make gluten-free pancakes and we do a little bit
of like singing. I'm trying to sing at the moment like on the side. So we end up like singing nursery rhymes
or like singing like really cool songs. And so we blow up the music really like high in the house.
And that's non-negotiable. Like we will sing and like have pancakes together. And that's like my
mommy and like my like children's time, which is really nice. And in terms of beauty, I always give
myself, a lift and sculpt to massage of my rose quartz stone because it's a stone of love.
It's just like this very, I sort of meditate when I massage my skin.
So I always like to do, I'm always multitasking.
I think as a mother, you end up multitasking.
You end up, you know, like breastfeeding and like cooking the dinner or you're like putting
the laundry in and you're also like trying to like, you know, like play with the baby or
either.
Michael's unfamiliar with the word multitask.
So he doesn't know what you're talking about.
It's not just me, a lot of men.
No, he's hard.
It's hard.
And sometimes it drives you crazy.
So.
I always say.
that women have it a lot tougher.
I mean, we can't do that.
Men, we can't hold a candle to that.
You want to tell me to do a cook pancakes.
Celebrating National Women's Day.
Yeah, that's, I'm celebrating that women are amazing
and that I can't do that too of stuff.
That's nice.
That's another point today.
Right.
Get a lot of points.
Well, is there a book or a podcast or a resource
that you can recommend to your audience
that you think would bring them a lot of value?
Oh, gosh, podcast.
Recently, I've been listening to, like,
Laura Dufkin,
have you been watching that one or hearing that one?
Boss Beauty is literally about women in business,
so it's really relevant for today.
I really like her podcast.
I think it's really, really good.
I don't know.
I also sometimes listen to Gwannis.
I think hers is really interesting.
She's always got interesting people on,
and I like some of her stories,
and she's got a good resource.
Kind of fun.
Where can everyone find you,
Pimp Yourself out?
Tell us your Instagram handle.
So if you want to learn more about me,
and to my crazy kids or like how to like take care of your skin.
The handle is Georgia Louise SK.
SK. SK. SK. SK. SK. It's me.
I love it.
And website?
It's just my name.
So it's www.orgia louise.com.
I love a little jingle at the end of that.
Right.
Thank you. I'm so sorry. I mean, I don't know how we got here.
She's got concussion. Like, poor Nancy.
Well, it's kind of a confusing building.
I was snoring. I had to like wake her up.
I was so embarrassed.
I'm like, she's like this major celebrity.
like I'm like dying and she's like saying we gotta leave I'm like but she's passed out like I don't know what to do and she's like but we're gonna be late for this podcast but she's this is she's sleeping she's sleeping who's the biggest celebrity that you've ever done that has the best skin oh I mean I heard Paris Hilton skin's pretty amazing Jennifer Lawrence she's a baby if you want I mean Cape Blanchette
oh you know why she stays out of the sun huh both of them do that's a secret I never go in the sun if there's a piece of
sun on my ankle.
Today I was laying in my, like, doing my workout in the room and there was a piece of sun
on my ankle.
A piece of sun.
Like a little, like dot of sun.
I don't know.
I get it.
It's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's a cure of all like skin like aging.
If you look at a granny like, you know, 85 and she pulls up her midriff, her skin would be
beautiful in her stomach because it's never had any sun.
If you look at a granny, if you look at your granny, I'm not going to say your midriff,
granny.
And you'd be like, oh, wow, she's got baby skin there.
That's going to be.
my skin if I stay out of the sun.
Stay out of the sun.
I gotta show you the scheme.
Wear a hat when you go like...
Listen, if I stood against that wall with I'd look like I'd just blend right in.
I'm like a ghost.
I just spray tan like I do.
Thank you for coming on.
