So it was never like a once-off. Global philanthropist, clothing and jewelry

Starting point is 00:01:41 her early experience with traveling the world as a young model, being a mother, the way she thinks about motherhood, thriving in a vibrant nightlife scene. And we go into independence, the modeling industry, and finding balance between motherhood and her dynamic lifestyle. Isabella, welcome to the show.
Starting point is 00:01:59 This is the skinny confidential, him and her. I am so excited to interview you. I think I found out about you through Melissa, what health. And I just wanted to get your story on the podcast because you have a really cool story. What was it like growing up in Brazil?
Starting point is 00:02:19 Oh my God. So I actually grew up in a farm. So that's something that nobody knows. So my parents got divorced and then my mom moved with us to like a very small town, like a small village. And we used to spend all our time on the farm,
Starting point is 00:02:35 like literally like milking cows and picking fruits. And that was my childhood until I was 13. When I was 13, my sister's friend came to me and she's like, I think you should be a model. I was like, oh, let me try. And then I went to her agency. And then the agent was like, when you're ready to start working? So then I had to move to a big city.
Starting point is 00:02:58 So imagine like a farm girl. moving to a big city and I'm moving with my dad. And my dad, like, he never really raised us. So he was like, okay, you can take a bus. You go figure it out your life. And I was like, okay, how do I do that? Like, I had to figure out everything myself. And then I started working at 13, but in the same time going to school, but working
Starting point is 00:03:21 at the same time. And you had a single mother from 3 to 13. Yeah. And how was that? I mean, she worked a lot. And I think that's what made me. Like, I work so much because I used to look at my mother and be like, she's working the whole day. She leaves us food in the fridge.
Starting point is 00:03:38 We had to warm it up ourselves and things like that. So then it's just so inspiring to see that she did it. You know, like my dad was, he was there and not there. You know, he was still my dad that used to see him once a month or something like that. But it was all my mom. Did you have a good relationship with your father? Yeah. I used to have it like, I didn't know what you expect otherwise, you know?
Starting point is 00:04:02 Like. So it was an amical separation. They just said the marriage didn't work. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It didn't work. It's funny because Michael and I are having conversation right now about how he's like, we need to make sure the kids are independent and like doing their own things. They always want to be with us.
Starting point is 00:04:17 But one thing that's so cool about your story is it sounds like you had to just figure it out constantly. Yeah. But don't you think as a parent, like I go back and forth of this where I'll obviously love my children and I want. them to feel secure all the time with us and I get sad if they're sad. But at the same time, I'm like, you need to go and develop. Yeah, because I mean, I think probably all three of us had that independence. And I worry that coddling them too much is going to make them soft later. 100%. Like I push my girls to do everything themselves. Like I'm like, go shower, go do this, go do that. And like my friend's kids are the same age and they're like, wait, your daughter knows how to
Starting point is 00:04:57 put a seatbelt. I'm like, yeah, of course. I throw her on the back and be like, put your seatbelt. And then they have to figure it out, you know, you push them like to learn things by themselves too. Otherwise, because if you do everything for them, they're not going to have that drive. But then in the same time, I think I'm too independent because they push me so hard to always be, be independent. and don't depend on a man. Don't like go for it yourself. And then now I'm like, I could just be a little more chill. I just have too much energy to like work, work, work, work.
Starting point is 00:05:32 And I don't relax. So when you were little, your mom was like, never rely on a man. Yeah, exactly. I've had the same experience. Never rely on man. And even my dad used to say like, you have to study so hard because you don't want to depend on a man. You don't want to. And then like the mentality always stick to me.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And then I was like, okay. So when you start modeling at 13, what is like the nitty gritty actually look like of that? Because a lot of these stories, the people come on the podcast, they were scouted and they started modeling. But there's a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes before you sort of get a really great gig. Yeah. So it was kind of funny because I was 13 and I was doing wedding dresses and like, it was so weird. I look back now and I was doing like swimwear, wedding. dresses. I'm like, and then I look at my little face. I'm like, how would someone scout me for that?
Starting point is 00:06:26 Like, how would someone like choose me? But for me, it was something like, probably not. Those people have been put in jail. But for me, it was something so natural as soon as I put in my mind, okay, this is my job. I would be like, I show up early to work. I was like on time. I was like waiting for my paycheck. It was, it was a job. It's a business for me. So I never picked, oh, I don't want to do wedding dresses because that's not what my age is appropriate. I was like, okay, whatever, I'll take that job. What was the big first thing that you got that you can remember? My big first thing was actually Milan.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Because after, so when I was 15, I started traveling the world, right? So I did South Korea, Milan, London, Paris, like everywhere. And by myself, just as a little detail. And then I was in Milan and I was really struggling there because people are very mean and like I was too young and nobody was there like helping me or anything like that. So I was super upset the whole time. And then I got the guest fashion show. And back then gas was like huge. It was the biggest thing.
Starting point is 00:07:40 And then they made me close the show and it was me in the wedding gown. I was back on the wedding gowns. Me in the wedding gown, black wedding gown. and then I had to throw like red roses around. And it was like the biggest closure. And I remember sending my dad like pictures and he was so proud of me. And I can never find that video.
Starting point is 00:08:01 So if anybody finds that video, please send it to me. But for me, it was like, wow, okay, I need to keep going. Even though I was so depressed, like I was not happy with myself, I got like a really big thing at the moment. Our team needs to find that video. I'll be on that. I don't think you could just YouTube that and find... I try, but I mean, I'm 32 now, so it was 17 years ago.
Starting point is 00:08:24 I bet you it's on there. What are the differences between Brazil and all of these other countries that you travel to? I've never been to Brazil. Like, if you were to describe what all the differences that you saw at a young age, what were those? Brazil is really fun. People are very happy. Yeah. So wherever you go, people are so welcoming.
Starting point is 00:08:42 They open the doors for you. They're like, come over, come in. They're very welcoming. And a lot of those countries that I've been to, for example, Italy, they're like Milan, they're not. Like Korea, they want to be, but they don't communicate. They don't speak English. They don't speak your language. So a lot of the countries I was just by myself.
Starting point is 00:09:03 And in Brazil, I always had, like, my family and my friends, and I always felt, like, welcome. And in a lot of those places, you're just on your own. I love Brazilians. You guys have such a good vibe attitude And you know all the music in my house Is Bossa Nova That's all I listen to That's true
Starting point is 00:09:24 I think you walked on the aisle to Bossa Nova I walked it I love No you don't I like love I want to go to Brazil so bad You have to tell me when you go I love that you have to go to Rio So if you like Bossa Nova starts from Rio
Starting point is 00:09:34 And then you go more in the north Like Bia and like Brazil Brazil is so beautiful I hope you're taking notes on this Because I'd really like a Brazilian I'll send you guys a full detail Come on, you bring all the jewelry. Now she's going to be on your website.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I feel like this episode's going to cost me. Next time, if I ever come back to Austin, I'm definitely going to bring you something like. Sorry. She's going to be on your side after this. She's going to be like, look at this one, this one. After you had the guest moment where you're walking down in a black wedding gown, throwing roses, what were the other things that you remember looking back that sort of shaped your career? When I moved to Paris, I started doing a lot of beauty.
Starting point is 00:10:11 How old were you when this happened? So Italy, I was 15. and then I actually went to South Africa. So I went to South Africa at 17 years old. And then I stayed there for four years. What if your daughters come to you at 15 and say, hey? I'm just going to tell them, let's go. I'll go with you.
Starting point is 00:10:30 I'm not letting them by themselves. I'm going with them. There's no way. But what my parents says is like, I was always so serious and I still am. I never done drugs. Like I'm super like straight up. to like business and work and this and that.
Starting point is 00:10:47 And they never even thought to say no to me. They were like, okay. I got a moment that you were scared in all these places or no? I'm more scared now when you're like a teenager and not scared of anything. You just go with it. Like I went through situations and I'm like, if it was now, I'll be so scared. And then back then I was like, okay, whatever. It went through.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Nothing happened. Like it's okay. So what were more things that happened to you along the way that are, moments in your career that were big. So when I moved to Paris, I was going to say, so I was 20, I started doing a lot of beauty campaigns. And then I did a hair campaign for Pantin. And that was so big for me. It was the biggest paycheck I ever got. And it was like, it was a commercial. So like every time it plays, like they were paying me. I was like, wow, this is amazing. And then the same commercial was shot with Giselle. So my piece was small compared to hers, obviously.
Starting point is 00:11:44 But when I heard I was in the same commercial as Giselle, I was like, wow, this is insane. And then that for me was like the biggest thing. And she wasn't in the same studio. Like we shot in Portugal and she shot somewhere else, but they put it, they linked it together. And how do you get to Miami? Miami was after New York. So then from Paris, I went to New York. So South Africa, Paris, Paris, New York.
Starting point is 00:12:12 And then I met David. my husband there and he's a Miami guy. So I started going every weekend and then he proposed after eight months and then we got married and then I moved to Miami and I'm so happy there. I've heard from multiple people that you are so creative and you sort of help with everything that he does in Miami. He's obviously very well known in Miami. When he started courting you, did you like him right away or did it take a minute? So when I met him, he has a lot of personality. And he's a lot of and he's very intense. And then from day one, he's like, okay, you're my girl.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Like, I want to be with you. And I was like, slow down, tiger. Like, this is too much. Yeah. And I was like, no, I have a happy life in New York. I'm working well. Like, I have an apartment. Like, I don't need to be going to Miami, like, unless I really want to.
Starting point is 00:13:06 And then he just got so intense. And then I was like, I don't know about this. I don't know about this. I don't know about this. And then I say to him, like, if you want that intensity, we have to be boyfriend and girlfriend. And then we have to make things official. And I like traditions.
Starting point is 00:13:25 So I'm not going to move in before a ring. I'm not doing. So then he proposed after eight months because he's like, I want to marry this girl. And then we've been together for nine years now. And at this point, are you still modeling? Yes, I am. But it's different now.
Starting point is 00:13:40 It's more like involving social media. or it's a reel that they want me to post or it's a campaign, but then in the same time, it's for me to post and their company to post. So it's more like around social media. It's not like catalogs or things like he used to be before. Where do you think your confidence comes from?
Starting point is 00:13:59 Because it sounds like from a young age, you were very independent. You had the confidence to obviously go out on your own, be in front of cameras, then move to all of these places, find your husband, be super upfront with him, get him to propose.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Like, when you think all that confidence is that from your mom, from your dad? What do you think that? I think it's a mix of both. Like my dad is a, he's a civil engineer. So he's very smart, like very well articulate. Like he always has a good point on things. And then the same time he always told me like, even if you're a model, you have to read the newspaper. You have to always be reading a book. You always, so that gave me the confidence that I can talk and I can express my feelings. But then in the same time, my mom always pushed me. like to be like, okay, you know who you are and you like, there's so many beautiful girls out there,
Starting point is 00:14:50 right? You just have to show your personality and your charisma and how smart you are or like how you express yourself. So then at least you stand out because there are so many beautiful girls out there. And then I was competing with like really tall girls and skinny and I was never like the skinniest one. I was always like bigger butt and big a leg. and shorter. So for me, it was more just talking to the client and getting them to know me a little bit more. And then from that, like I had a lot of clients in my career that they always call me back. So it was never like a once-off. Like even for big companies, I did like four campaigns and not just one thing and that's it, you know, because I think that they like the way I showed up to work
Starting point is 00:15:38 and I was always professional. My nail was always done. And like hair is always clean little things. I think this shows how professional I was. No, it goes a long way because in the world that we're in in media, you'd be surprised how often people that start to get a platform show up. I guess this is maybe not nice for me to say, but in a very unprofessional way. I'm sure you've met some of these people where it's like, they're there and they think the job is just always going to be there for them. No. They don't realize you have to treat people well. You have to hold yourself in a certain way.
Starting point is 00:16:06 And like even the way you show up to work, you know, like you have to be like with clean face. like I see a lot of new girls. And back in the day, I had like a course that I had to do to become a model. So you do like a six week intense thing that they tell you how you have to show up. Like your hair has to be clean. Your nails has to be done. Like no makeup. You can do fake lashes.
Starting point is 00:16:31 You can't do any of that. Because then you're just giving that blank form for them to use it. Right. Like if you show up and you have a lash done and then they don't want that. static, like it's going to mess up their work. So it's a lot of the little things that I wish there was still training models and even like how to respect the clients, how to talk to them and everything else, but they don't do that anymore. They just put them straight through. You should do your own school. Add it to your list. At what point did you know that you were
Starting point is 00:17:03 entrepreneurial? Because you've got a lot going on. At what point did you start to realize, wait, I also want to open my own businesses. Yeah, I think if it's comes from my husband, like he opens so many business. He does so much at the same time. And like just watching him, he's not scared of anything. He's like, oh, there's a new place that I can open in Dallas. Let me just do it. Like, do Komodo there. I'm like, but wait, it's a new city. You don't know anybody. Like, I overthink things, but he goes straight through. Like, he's like, I have nothing to lose. Let's just drive. It doesn't work. It doesn't work. So it comes from him first. And then also, during COVID, I always like to work and be busy. And COVID for me was like, wait, I don't have to do anything. It was weird. And then I started sewing again. Because during my South Africa time, I did fashion design as well as modeling. And then I went back to sewing. So I was sewing a lot of my girls' dresses. My girls was so tiny and I was just making dresses. And then everybody that was coming over to, and then they were like, oh, this is so cute.
Starting point is 00:18:12 why don't you sell them? It's like, okay, but if I sell, I have to do a proper company. And then I work with a branding agency, everything else. And then I think that after I did my first brand, Rainjo, and I was like, I want it sustainable, I want this. And I went like very Brazilian inspired. I was like, okay, I did that, but in the same time, I love jewelry. So I was like, I need to also accomplish the jewelry brand.
Starting point is 00:18:39 And I started with a friend of mine. and she pushed me through and then now I have an investor that will her out and I'm very happy with it. Quick break to talk about symbiotica as we head into the holidays. This is the time when many people take their foot off the gas pedal. Holidays are here. Let's eat. Let's be happy.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Let's be merry. I would argue let's also try and be as healthy as possible, which is why I'm so excited to talk about symbiotica. This is a time when I believe you need to put even more love into your body because you're probably abusing yourself a little bit over the holidays. What I love about Symbiotica is they have such an array of products that can help support your entire body, your entire system. It is a time when, like I said, we are eating a little bit more than usual, drinking a little bit
Starting point is 00:19:27 more. There are different viruses going around. It's that time of year when people are getting sick. So what better time to boost your immune system and make sure your body is able to handle all the things that you're going to throw at it during this holiday season? Some of my favorite products that Symbiotica offers are their liposomal delivery supplements. Their vitamin D3 and K2 is one of the best on the market. It's an essential supplement that everyone should be taking.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Their methylated B vitamin formula is incredible. I've said for many years that I think they have one of the best glutathions, which is one of the most powerful antioxidants. And their magnesium L3onite is absolutely incredible. Lauren and I have had the founders of Symbiotica on this show so many times and discuss all of the different offerings and health initiatives that they're pushing. So many supplements contain fillers or harmful additives, but Symbiotica's products are made clean and with intention.
Starting point is 00:20:10 They don't contain any seed oils, preservatives, toxins, artificial additives, or natural flavors. So as we get ready to head into the holidays, you guys need to get your hands on these products while their Black Friday sale lasts for a limited time. Head over to symbiotica.com right now for 25% off plus free shipping sitewide. Again, that is symbiotica.com right now for 25% off and free shipping sitewide. This episode is brought to you by The Skinny Confidential, the newest launch brow peptide. Oh, I'm so excited about this one. I have been using castor oil, as you know, on my brows and eyelashes and sometimes even on like little spots on my hairline forever. And the Egyptians used to use it in ancient times to grow their hair. So it makes sense that we would use it now. But I couldn't find
Starting point is 00:20:56 one with a little extra umph. So I wanted to create my own. I added a peptide to organic, clean, cold pressed castor oil. So it's kind of like castor oil on steroids. The peptide that we added nourishes your hair follicle and really helps you grow hair. So the castor oil already grows the hair and you add the peptide and it's amazing. So how I use this product is I use it morning and night right when I'm done with my skincare routine. So I've sort of like habit stacked it. What I do is I ice roll, do my skincare routine, put on my caffeinated sunscreen, and then immediately in the morning I brush my brows with the brow peptide and I also add it to my lashes,
Starting point is 00:21:37 even sometimes my hairline. At night, I do the same exact thing without the sunscreen, obviously, and then I'll go to bed and I'll reap all the beauty benefits while I sleep. It's obviously non-toxic. It comes in a beautiful pink tube, and it has a unique custom wand where you can apply it on your brows or your lashes. You're going to be obsessed with this one. It's kind of like my baby. I'm very excited for it. You can go to shop, skinny confidential.com. I would get on subscription because we're probably going to sell out. We do sell out a lot. Go shop our brow peptide at shop skinny confidential.com. How do you balance all of your nightlife that you have?
Starting point is 00:22:18 And maybe you don't. Maybe you're in bed at eight. Yeah, how do you balance all that? You see, this is part of the reason that I'm scared. She's, oh, maybe we'll move to Miami. And I was like, I don't know if we can hear anything. I don't know. How do you do all what you're doing during the day and also do what you guys are doing at the night?
Starting point is 00:22:31 Because it seems like you also like have your hand creatively in the night life, too. It's just like it's the life I chose, right? you have to think of like you choose your husband and my husband is in a night life so this is the life I chose so a lot of the times I'm like oh I'm so exhausted I don't want to go and then in my mind I'm like suck it up and go like you got I have to like be with him yeah so you know because I'm working the whole day what's your as a couple what's your typical weekly routine because I imagine yours is maybe different than typical or both of you because you're going to these places and there is a night like oh what time do you guys wake up yeah so during the week now because we both aging right so we used to go out much more and then now
Starting point is 00:23:21 we go for dinners but we i started telling him like monday and tuesdays is date night like don't even ask me for like anything unless it's like a chill dinner at seven o'clock we can do that or like a double date or something, it's fine. But we're not going out, out Monday, Tuesday. Okay. So she's like, okay. But will you go to your places on Monday Tuesday or it's a different place? So it could be a different place, but then from like Wednesday to Saturday, Sunday, it's our places.
Starting point is 00:23:52 And most of the time, dinner's at 9 o'clock 10. And then what time do you stay up till? So during the week, I'll say until midnight, 1 a.m. Okay. And then the weekend, if it, let's say it's a baz a week, I'm out like until 3 a.m. How are you out until 3 a.m and your skin looks like that? What's the secret? 3 a.m? I would look like a fucking pig.
Starting point is 00:24:17 I would look like a pig. No, Lord. It's like a real big. I don't do drugs. Maybe that's why. Yeah. And I don't smoke. Hearing you talk about this.
Starting point is 00:24:26 But I do drink. There was a time when that used to be my life. But then I've now I've calmed down. Maybe I should, maybe we should kind of delve back. My other is not like that, guys. Like, we have a very chill, like, life. Even though I'm saying this to you, like, people, like, my friends are not coming out every single night. We do that because it's the business.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Yeah. And then, but then during the day, we wake up at 7 a.m. After being out till 3? No, she said usually she's out until 1. Like midnight, 1. And then we up at 7 because of the kids. Sure. So they go to school.
Starting point is 00:25:01 They don't care what you did the night before. Yeah. Yeah, they don't care. They have, mommy, mommy, exactly. So then 7 a.m. they're up. We take them to school. Dave has been taking them because he plays tennis straight away. So he takes them to school and then go play tennis. I work out straight away. And then by like 9 o'clock, I start meetings and go to the store and just start my day. And then it ends by 5.6. is it is a great place to kind of recover and it feel whenever I'm there I feel very relaxed and healthy. Yeah. And you see people and they're all like people over there look like they're yeah, they do. Everyone looks really good. Yeah. Active. And people always working out, eat healthy. Like it's a very good lifestyle. And I love the fresh air. Yeah. Like when I'm in Miami, I was just in New York and then it gives me a headache because you can breathe properly.
Starting point is 00:25:51 In Miami, it's like the breeze is so nice. This is so weird too. New York gives me like under eyebags because the pollution is like clogging your lymphatic. And then when you're in a place like Miami or Austin, you don't have those under eye bags. It's so weird. I'm not joking. Check your under eyebags when you're in New York. It literally has like my whole. Out of all the self, I hate myself in New York now.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Like even the energy I got in Miami and I was like, you know, when you feel so drained, I was drained. Yeah, it drains you. It drains you. Listen, I love it. I tell Michael, I use it like a mistress. You fuck it, let it suck you, and then you get the fuck out. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:26:30 And then you out. Really fast. Really fast. Yeah. Yeah, I think if you stay in a city for a long time, you start to forget the effect it has until you don't realize, because we were in L.A. before this. Until we left and came here, like, oh, wow, like I'm much more relaxed out here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Just like being in those cities. Out of all the restaurants and everything that you guys are a part of, which is your favorite one? It's like choosing a baby. You can't do that. It's too hard. It's too hard. And every restaurant has its own personality. So like Gecko is a Japanese steakhouse, really fun and young and fresh.
Starting point is 00:27:05 And the food is so good. Then Komodo, it's in a bigger scale, more like Chinese and duck, that kind of stuff. And that was the first baby. This was the first restaurant. And then we have Kazadona now that's a Italian place, beautiful view, like right by the water. and we have swan and then the club live that's crazy is the club nuts it's crazy so fun i don't think i've been to live you never been no she's been but it's been a long time when did you go with michael long time long time i don't know actually i've when did we go to live it's been years it's been
Starting point is 00:27:41 a bachelor party you went to no no it's been years you've been there we're with our friend steve oh oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah i did go there he's right he's not wrong i also really like swan Your husband actually set us up one time in a restaurant. We went out, we got put on text and he put us in one of the steakhouses. It was delicious. Did they treat you well? Yeah. That was absolutely delicious 10 out to 10.
Starting point is 00:28:02 You mentioned that you work out in the morning. What's your workout that you're doing every, give us the whole schedule of the week? Yeah. So if I'm in Miami, let's say Monday to Friday, I do, I have a trainer every day, Monday to Friday. And that's weights. And I do 30 minutes. I don't talk to him. Like it's perfect. I show up and we like he tells me what to do and then I'm out of there.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Like I don't want to talk. I don't want to like linger. It's 30 minutes. And that's it. And that's it. And then twice a week actually. So besides this trainer, Tuesday and Thursday, I do a Brazilian butt workout. You love that. So it's like literally this girl that comes and does weights for just the butt, not legs, no like halves, nothing. is straight up but weight get the information later and then it's like I feel like it's working
Starting point is 00:28:57 that's an amazing like brand that she does butt weights it's like butt weight but I'll send you her Instagram she's so good and she only do it 30 minutes twice a week with her she likes me to do one hour so I do 30 minutes with him
Starting point is 00:29:12 then I do one hour with her do you do Brazilian lymphatic drainage I do that I'm obsessed once a week who is your girl in Miami. Do you have like a person? Yeah. Yeah. Her name is Angelica and her Instagram is Oya Beauty. What's Brazilian lymphatic drainage? What's the difference? Oh my God. It's amazing. So it just helps the circulation in your body like and then yeah, they do the whole body. But us women, we retain so much water and then that helps to just like take the access water out.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Do you really do it once a week? Yeah. I know that's very it's like a thing in Brazil that you guys do once a week, which is a big commitment. But that's what the girl who was working on me, I go to Josie, her Brazilian lymphatic salon, and she said the girls in Brazil do like once or twice a week. Yeah. I mean, I wish I could do it twice. No, it's not painful. It's nice.
Starting point is 00:30:06 I mean, it's nice when they do it harder, but it's just for like the cellulite and the access water. It's just, it makes you feel so much better. I think I need to get another one of those. And the problem is if you don't do it for three weeks, like at least me, like, If I don't do it for three weeks, I go back to like zero again, like full on, cellulite back. And so it's something that I have to do every week. What are other wellness things that you do?
Starting point is 00:30:31 Do you play tennis? Are you cold ones on Saturdays? Are you cold ones on Saturdays with Dave sometimes? Okay. Just as a cute like couple thing and a little extra workout. But he doesn't like to play tennis with me. So I just force myself in. Why does he like to play?
Starting point is 00:30:45 He's too competitive. Because he's so competitive. And I just like the look of things. And I just like to rally like pretty girl. Yeah, exactly. Showing off your Brazilian butt workout. Exactly. And then he just wants to like get the shot straight away.
Starting point is 00:31:00 I'm like, stop. It's so annoying. Any other wellness things that you swear by? Wellness things. Oh. It could be beauty too. Your eyebrows. What do you do for your eyebrows?
Starting point is 00:31:12 I don't touch them. Eyebrows, I don't touch at all. Like, no. I just noticed that they were getting thinner and thinner and thinner. and I was looking older. So it's been maybe 10 years that I haven't touched them. I clean the middle. She's always sending me to get people to mess with my eyebrows.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Leave me alone. I just clean the middle part. You just need a little, a little. You just need a little trim sometimes. I will say since I became a dad, sometimes I catch an eyebrow hair that is like as long as the hair on my head. And I don't know what's going on. It's literally.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Sometimes I trim Dave's one to him because it gets so long. I looked at one the other day and I was like, oh my God. I was ashamed of myself. It's not the vibe. How do you organize your time every day with everything you have going on during the day? Like are you doing conference calls on a certain day? Are you doing your shoot? Like how do you think about organizing?
Starting point is 00:32:08 Yeah, I need to start organizing better because now my brain, it just works in every single direction. It's like I go from emeralds to this fabric that this and that because, because like I, my office now is behind the store. So then I do my design meetings for Ranger, my clothing brand in this, in the back of the office, which is the store. So then if a client shows up, I have to come out like if it's important a client and things like that. So my brain is just going in like a lot of directions at the moment and I don't have an assistant.
Starting point is 00:32:44 So I just have to focus on putting things on the calendar. So let's say we have a Zoom, I put it straight away in the calendar. If I have a kid's thing that I have to show up to, I put in my calendar. So then at least I organize my calendar so I can show up to things because otherwise I forget. Like my brain, I don't know if it happens to you, but my brain, it's really bad. Since the first baby, it never came back. Like my memory is so bad. Yeah, he like, he asked me things and I'm like, huh?
Starting point is 00:33:16 And he's like, you need to get it together. And I'm like, I have scattered brain. That's what I call it. It's ADHD a little it. No, you can't self-dyke. She diagnoses herself with things. I think it's a mom thing. I think since my first pregnancy, it started happening to me.
Starting point is 00:33:30 And then it never went back. What are your sort of important things that you think about when it comes to children? Meaning, like, is there certain things that you really want to instill in your roles? I think that it seems like you guys are both very entrepreneurial, independent. What are the things that you think about? when it comes to raising kids. The number one for me is manners for my kids. I'm like the annoying mom.
Starting point is 00:33:54 They're like say thank you. Welcome. Like like everything. And even like if you guys ever meet my kids, they have to say, may I please be excused from the table? Why are you going like this? Like I'm trying.
Starting point is 00:34:06 I have to be so proper. Okay. What am I supposed to do with the two? Did you start? The two no. Like maybe the four, five, six like.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Because when I was growing up, I, I'd have to sit at the table. You cannot put your elbows on the table. You'd have to say, may I be excused? I haven't got to that, but I should. Well, I mean, my mom was a little crazy, but she was always like, there's a woman,
Starting point is 00:34:28 you stand up, you open the door, all those things you had to do. I think it's very important, and I think the kids don't have any manners anymore. Like, my kids can sit in a fancy restaurant and talk in low voice and not be throwing things up in the air. Like, they know, because that's our life too, right?
Starting point is 00:34:46 We constantly, like, hosting people. People coming over. So my daughters have to go up to them and be, hi, my name is Kaya. Nice to meet you. Like they have to. Because that's, what's the consequence? I make them do it. So I bring them to the person. And I'm like, and then look in the eyes always. They always have to look at eyes. Because kids now, they always look down or because they're so used to like the iPad or this and that. I'm like, no, no, no. Look in the eyes. You talk to people. If someone asks you a question, you have to answer. It's not like you walk away.
Starting point is 00:35:19 No, no, no. I bring them back. And my second one, she struggles a little bit more. My first one, she's gotten now, but the second one, she's a little more shy. So I say to her, at least people like,
Starting point is 00:35:31 like, you don't have to make a full conversation with a random person that walks in an apartment, but like at least people like. When you guys went to Italy. Yeah. And you brought your kids. Yes. Did you do screen time?
Starting point is 00:35:44 So we did very minimal. like we we already don't so this is a topic I hope my kids will never listen to this but I gave them iPads that don't work and I never charge them so like they never really work so if they play with something sometimes for five minutes then they get frustrated doesn't work it's like the amazon little tablets it's not even an iPad so it's an Amazon tablet and they they can watch a little YouTube but only if it's not Ninja kids because they love ninja kids or if it's something that's like from the YouTube kids section, not like no more YouTube. This is a huge debate on the podcast. It's been a topic because the way I think about it is this. Think about how hard it is to get a full grown adult off their phones and
Starting point is 00:36:33 smart devices to get them to stop picking up every second. Now think about a child who's got no context and doesn't have the discipline of an adult and you give them this thing. And then you got to think about like what that's going to do them for the rest of their life. And so I'm really against the idea of giving, I understand parents need it as a tool once in a while. Yeah. But I think this like jerk reaction just give it to them all the time is really not doing it. I don't like it at all. And like even at home, they watched TV for 10 minutes before bed. They can't watch three in the day. They can't watch on a Saturday afternoon. They got to play. Kids got to play. Like we were playing the whole time. We were like using our brains to like make up different games.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Like those kids, they don't use their brains right now. Like, and talking about the trip, we didn't really use it because they were playing the whole day. The whole day, they wouldn't touch it. There was no iPad because I didn't charge. And then at nighttime, they were so tired. So they would go straight to sleep. I look at it like this. I'm kind of in the middle of all of it.
Starting point is 00:37:37 I use it as an absolute tool. Like when I need a tool, meaning like, say I'm on a conference call and my kids are like screaming and yelling. I'm like, okay, I have to, I have to just get through the next 30 minutes. Let me ask you this. Do you think that you're then teaching them that when you get on a call that they can scream and then they can get the iPad? For sure. Because kids are smart. I just am curious about how people think about it because I mean, I'm kind of a new mother,
Starting point is 00:38:05 a four-year-old and a two-year-old. And I just think I like to know how other people think about it. I think once in a while it's okay. Don't make it a routine. And also they'll make them expected always. Like I have some friends actually that will sit down on a dinner table with the kids and then they put the iPad straight away. I'm like, that kid didn't even ask for it. And they're about to eat. Why do they have to watch TV while they eat?
Starting point is 00:38:28 They can talk to us. Like even a two-year-old, like have conversations. It's cute. Like talk about the food, whatever it is. They also really appreciate that moment. My kids really like when we sit down with them, they're eating and we're talking. There's no screen time during food. I think that means a lot coming from you because of what you guys do.
Starting point is 00:38:48 You're probably eating out all the time. So that's why I wanted to ask you that question. I don't know why you're looking at me like that. It's the right answer. Oh, you don't know. So tell us about the organization that you're working with. I saw on here that you're doing some amazing things. Tell us your vice president.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Tell us about that. So I, when I moved to Miami nine years ago, I asked David, I was like, what non-profits do you work with? And he's like, I don't. I was like, we should look for one. And we started interviewing people from different organizations. And I found this girl, Rachel Russell. She started style saves by herself.
Starting point is 00:39:27 She was helping around like 200 kids with just backpacks and school supplies. And then from that, we were having a conversation with her. And that we asked how many kids are homeless. is in Miami. And she said, according to the proper numbers, whatever, it's 10,000 kids. So me and Dave, we look at each other and we're like, this is what we have to do. We have to get to 10,000 kids. And actually this year, we helped 25,000 kids. Wow. So we went from 200 kids to 1,000 kids, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 15,000. And now we up to 25,000. And every year, we put it on the website, the registration kids, the parents go, they registered the kids. We need all the
Starting point is 00:40:16 information about them. And then after two days, we have to close down the registration because we have so many of them now. And then they come to an amazing event. So we throw like a party. So we have bounce houses. We have haircuts. We have nails, face paints, like everything that you can imagine a proper like party and then they come and they collect backpack school supplies uniform sneakers socks everything that they need and extra so like belts and like we have extra clothes for the parents we have a whole bunch of activities so we just like to make it in a fun event and we don't want them to feel like it's a charity event that they just getting things donated so we manufacture everything as well that's so cool I love that it's really really
Starting point is 00:41:07 A lot. So it's me nine years that I've been with them. That's really, really cool. I saw that on here. I was like, that's so awesome. Tell us about the piece of jewelry that we need to get if we're going to get one piece from your collection. Tell us about what you're working on with your clothing line. You just gifted me the cutest pair of like baby teal pants. Yeah. So that's my can pens. It's called the can pens. And that's like one of the first pants that I made. But I just first one I made in black and then it sold out. so that I made in blue now. And I just love that pen because it's easy to wear. It's like you just put it on and with a t-shirt, like you said. It's easy and then you still look very chic. I'm working on two collections right now for Ranger. So like clothing is harder because you have to put it together a whole collection, 36 items at least, like minimum.
Starting point is 00:41:59 And then you, I've been growing my wholesale a lot. So then I have to present it to wholesale, put in production. And that's for like next year. So everything has to be like very far behind. And then it's like takes a long time. And then that's rainbow. And then for the jewelry is a little bit easier because I can just go with my flow and be like, hey, I want to make an owl necklace. And then I make one piece and then I put it out sell. And then I can make another one if I want or if not like I make a parrot or something else. So one item that I really love. for my brand is the mom ring. I don't know if you saw that. So I have a ring that says mom and I was going to bring it to you, but it got sold out. I did see that ring actually. Yeah. I didn't know that. That's what that was called. It's so cute. Yeah, it's called the mom ring. So it got sold out last week because Haley posted it and it went crazy. So that's a great person to post it. And she just be here. And like a new mom. Yeah. And I love her and I was like, that's so cute. So,
Starting point is 00:43:06 So like everybody that buys the mom ring, I say, welcome to the mom club. It's really cute. It's diamonds, right? On gold? Yeah, it's diamonds. And it's all solid gold. So all my jewelry is solid gold because I want like people to put it on and I would take it off. Like you said, like put it on, becomes part of yourself.
Starting point is 00:43:24 And that's a very special piece to me because I think my main job is a mom. What is the one that you gave me called? That's the marquees. The marquee. That's the key. Yeah. That's the marquee diamond. layerable ring.
Starting point is 00:43:38 I'm obsessed with this because I love how you can layer it or you don't have to. I like that. It's versatile. It's such a little like delicate touch. I love that ring. Okay. Isabella gave us a code. You guys can use Code Skinny for 15% off the jewelry line.
Starting point is 00:43:53 And it's IssaGruitman.com. And then 30% off. That is so nice. You guys. Shop R-A-N-G-E-L.com. Yes. You have to check out the pants. She just gifted me.
Starting point is 00:44:06 and she said she's going to do a giveaway. So are they baby teal? Yeah, it's like a blue. I call it blue, I think, on the website. Okay, she's going to give away the blue pants in one of your sizes. All you have to do is follow her on Instagram. Tell us your Instagram. Isabella Gretman.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Okay. You have to tell us what's in that bag. By the way, I hope you're taking notes on that because I like that size. You came in here. By the way, 35 is the best. You came in here and I said, this is going to be an expensive show for me. I know, looking at her jewelry. Normally, these shows make me money.
Starting point is 00:44:40 I feel like this one's going to cost me some. Listen, it's like I give it out. It's like, I give her. Okay, so what's in my bag? Yeah, but she's going to see it. She's like, I need this and I need that. I like the one I got in Japan, it's a vintage one. Beautiful.
Starting point is 00:44:52 But I need a black one. I realized because I was like on the airport. You need every color. That's cool. Every color. But also I was walking around on the plane and I flew economy like all the way on the back. So I'm like, I'm that girl on the breaking bag going all the way back on the plane. I mean, but the flight from Miami to here is easy, right?
Starting point is 00:45:10 It's not crazy. It's so easy. Sometimes I get on the 630 flight on American and then I get to the beach in Miami at like 9 or 10 a.m. Yeah, it's so easy. No, it was perfect. I woke up in a normal time and I show up. Okay, so what's in my bag? I have the beats by Juree, Kim Kardashian, earphones.
Starting point is 00:45:31 She actually gave it to my husband, but I stole it. it. So thanks Kim for giving out to leave. I have a notebook because my brain doesn't work so well, so I have to write everything down. I have an iPad because I wanted to start watching a show, the perfect couple. I just thought it's pretty good. It's pretty good. And then I need to start this book. I just finished one yesterday. That's a very good book. Is it? Yeah. Okay, great. No, I thought that said the handmade. No, the housemaid is watching. It's like a thriller? I haven't started because I was watching the series, but I need to start today. Then I have a bag with makeup because I did my makeup myself today in the airport.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Wow. Quick, quick, I have an IGK good behavior. Have you tried this? It's so good. IGK good behavior, smoothing spray, because I knew the frizz would be crazy. I also did a little CBD highline because I was like, I don't know how I'm going to feel when I get here. And then just some makeup. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:33 This is like Victoria, vacuum lip glass, obviously. And then I have something interesting here, actually, that I just bought. I bought this little brush that is electric brush. Have you seen this before? So it warms up and you're just like. Oh, it's probably good for hair growth, huh? I don't know if it's good. It's like kind of warm.
Starting point is 00:46:55 It's probably not good for your hair. It's kind of nice one. It's nice because I arrived and I was just like brushing. It looks like I did a blowout. So it works. and then it's the bag that Michael has to buy you. I would like a 35.
Starting point is 00:47:09 35 is good. You can carry all your stuff. Yeah, I like how she like uses it too on a flight. You know what I mean? I can throw it like you just Yeah, you can throw it around. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:18 You know what I mean? Exactly. Okay, well, our anniversary is coming up, bitch, so you better take notes. Okay, thank you for coming on. Thank you guys. You're so cute. That was so much fun.
Starting point is 00:47:27 I wanted to have you on for a very long time. And thank you for making the trip. Economy with the Berk. and in the back next time we come out to my we would do it in Miami we just gotta get a studio there
Starting point is 00:47:40 35B Hey listen I made it And I'm here She's here That flight is easy It was easy It was easy
Starting point is 00:47:49 It was easy I watched like Three episodes I was like Oh this is great And also I like The quiet time Like without nobody
Starting point is 00:47:56 bothering me The way I think about flights now I mean I don't like The airport's the worst part But when you're on the flight it's nice, especially with kids, you just like get a little bit some moments to yourself. So relaxing.
Starting point is 00:48:08 It was great. It's like you get one second to just relax. Breathe. And then I have like three more hours on the way back. I can't wait. It's kind of relaxing. The flights wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for the airports. I got a little bone to pick with the way they operate these airports.
Starting point is 00:48:21 Which skinny confidential products should I give you? I think you need the lymphatic brush. I need that. And then can you also give me the one that the ice thing that's cold? Do you have that? Yeah. I need that. Have you ever tried mouth taping?
