The following podcast is a dear media production.
She's a lifestyle blogger extraordinaire.
Fantastic.
And he's a serial entrepreneur.
A very smart cookie.
And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you along for the ride.
Get ready for some major realness.
Welcome to the skinny confidential, him and her.
What I've noticed is most women don't want to stand out.
They actually want to fit in.
I think that when women,
do that, they're stealing other people's fashion or other people's style because they want to fit in,
but it's not for them. It doesn't work for them. You can fit in better by knowing your own personal
style and colors and makeup choices. Not every influencer that's teaching you how to do makeup
knows you. Like they're not looking at you. And so my goal is to empower you to be your own
artist to make these decisions to ask those questions like is this serving me one thing i like to
personally bring to this show is really real conversations and sometimes i like to kick michael off for
those because this is a real conversation that i have had behind the scenes multiple times and katie and i
are bringing it on to the show you guys liked katie so much when she came on the first time she talked
all about her weight loss journey. She talked about plastic surgery openly. She also was just really
honest and real about her life and the challenges that she's had. So I wanted to bring her back on the
show so I could get very niche with her. I wanted to go in depth about insider insights on
plastic surgery, aesthetics, procedures, overdoing cosmetic surgery. And in this episode without
Michael, we did all of these things. If you are a true skinny confidential OG, you're going to like
this episode. With that, Katie Moyer, a professional makeup artist with a huge ass Instagram following
and a very unique perspective. Welcome back to the show. This is the skinny confidential,
him and her. Okay, so we were talking off air. Keep going with what you're saying. I'll just let you go off.
You know, people always want to know, like, what are the rich and famous doing?
Because any time somebody sees it before and after, they're like, the common phrase is, well, I'm not ugly.
I'm just poor.
Right.
You've heard that.
And listen, I know a lot of rich people that no one's copying their aesthetic.
And the difference is, is, I mean, money plays a small part.
but celebrities are typically the people in the spotlight that you're showing your injector.
You're showing your makeup artist.
Like, please replicate this.
And the reason being is because rich people just have yes men around them and famous people and
celebrities, their own personal opinion is not important.
It's not valid.
They're a brand.
So they have a team of people.
really dictating their appearance.
So you're saying like if someone is 50 years old and they're like a celebrity and they're
say, I'm going to get a facelift, there's a lot of cooks in the kitchen being radically real
with them, whereas someone who maybe has a lot of money behind the scenes has guest men
all around them.
Yeah.
So so many people, when you're a celebrity, you're bigger than yourself.
You're a brand.
Typically, you're kind of owned by public opinion.
And so you surround yourself with experts that are not looking out for typically your own best interest.
I mean, we can debate whether or not that's mentally healthy.
But the reality is they're going, that's not serving you.
That doesn't look good.
That's not what the public wants.
That's not what's trending.
Because here it is.
The average woman, they get stuck in the decade or the era that they think that they're the hottest.
I think we kind of talked about this last time.
they're stuck there.
And when you're a celebrity,
there's people going,
okay, it's time to move on.
This is not working.
But when you're rich,
everybody's like,
that platinum buffaunt looks amazing.
You're so right.
You're so right about what you're saying.
And I think that real good cosmetic work
is when you look like a younger version of yourself.
Right.
And that's the key.
You don't want to look.
I mean,
when I'm 50,
and I go in for my facelift.
Yeah.
Don't worry.
I'll blog it.
50, 45.
42.
No, I'm just kidding.
Like a less.
But when I go in for my facelift, I think that that's the goal is it's not to look like someone different or it's not to look like super pulled or severe.
Severe is a big one.
Right.
And but what happens is, and this is human nature or just like the natural course of action.
is you get, like, you know, everybody's talking about blush blind or all those things.
You get plastic surgery blind.
What is blush blind?
Blush blind, it's like a trend right now where these girls are over blushing and they
don't realize they have so much on.
I don't die for a lot of blush in general.
I think a whisper of it.
Just a whisper.
Just a flush.
A flick of a blush.
And when it's too blushy, I think it brings out the whites.
I think it brings out the reds of the eyes and the teeth.
Yes.
No, you're absolutely right.
There's a point, there's always a point where instead of enhancing, it's distracting.
Right.
Or even worse, you know, harmful to your overall aesthetic.
What is plastic surgery blindness?
I think when people stop seeing, and this is really common with injectables, it's how you get pillow face.
A little is good and then a lot must be better.
And all of these things have limitations.
and I think when you are chasing like perfection and you are not willing to even remotely look your age,
it starts to become detrimental because all of these things, they can only do so much.
And when used in moderation and like holistically, it can be so, so good.
I think that's what I like about your content is what you essentially teach,
women to do on your platform to me is it's not just hair makeup style it's that you teach them how to
have these things in a harmonious way that looks balanced do you know what i mean yeah no that's that's
that's a hundred percent my thing and i think that that's why celebrities become this like idolized
you know whatever like that's who people are looking at right because
there's a team of people
that's saying like keep you right
and it's it's they're not just telling them what they want to do
that's like no that's too much
and also here's the thing that celebrities
are really good at
they don't take the shortcuts
they will do the surgery
if surgery is going to be the quickest way
for the most natural aesthetic
and I think that's what we're seeing right now
if you really want you know I see all these people
being like she got
you know Botox here and
and fill her here.
I'm like,
no,
she just got a facelift.
100%.
And I think that
people are missing
the extremes
that people are
actually going to.
And I think
these conversations
are appropriate
and they're needed
because people
aren't realizing
the extremes people
are going to.
100%.
And you can get
completely
like demolished
online when you're saying,
oh,
you've done so much.
And I'm like,
welcome to
behind the curtain.
They're all doing so much.
But when you don't take the shortcut and you just, you do the thing that feels extreme,
you get that supernatural aesthetic and there's no shortcuts.
But to a lot of people, it still is the extreme because surgery feels like the last resort.
But it shouldn't be.
I think that needs to be talked about more is the fact that if you are going to spend thousands and thousands of dollars
filling your face all the time, blocking your lymphatic system over and over and over with all different
kinds of needles from all different kinds of doctors, I think that if you're going to do that,
that's fine, but you also should have the surgery conversation out in the open. Do you know what I mean?
Like, you just should know. I think what it is is like, we're only seeing the celebrities' nails in their
toolbox. We're not seeing the hammer and the wrench. We ought to see the full picture to then make a
decision based upon what you want to do or how much money you want to spend. I mean, that's,
that's literally my goal is to tell people, take it or leave it. Like, this is what it is. This may offend
you that I've had this surgery and that surgery and I've done this, but my goal is that you feel
like you've gotten the full picture. Right. And then you decide what's appropriate. Everybody has a
line that's like, that's too much. For some people, it's coloring their grays. And that's it. That's
enough. I don't think it's fair for somebody else to draw that line for another person. You know,
that doesn't seem right. But I do feel like if you get the entire picture and you're like,
hey, these are all the things that I did. That might be too much for you. But if you're looking at
that and you're thinking, okay, that was just Botox that gave me the bra lift. And I should look like
this at 45 years old and why don't I look like this? Right. Just know what's actually going on
behind the scenes. That's why I think your content is so attractive because you do show
behind the scenes and you do show the full picture.
What are things that you've put out there that people just can't believe that you're putting
out there?
I think that the tummy tuck really bothered a lot of people.
Really?
I wouldn't think that.
It's weird to me because...
The tummy tuck.
Just recently, even when, you know, I'm candid about it, then they say, well, that's how
she got, you know, her fit physique, which...
To me, I'm like, you can't, you're damned if you do, you damned if you don't, right?
Like it doesn't.
I apparently lost 60 pounds because I got air sculpted in my arms.
100%.
Yeah.
I mean, and it's a video of me saying like, yes, and I got a tummy tuck, yes, and.
And then footage showing me being an athlete.
Like, I'm like, the tummy tuck didn't give me.
the skill to do double unders. Right. It's a little umph. For for me and I don't care who like in what I don't
care what order you do whatever you want to do to make yourself feel better. For me it was the end point.
I felt very strongly about not doing it prior to getting to the end. That was for me. Some people
need it before they get to the end to help them in that last step. But for me, that,
was my goal is I just want this to be the end of my journey.
Why do you think people care?
I'm so interested in this because if you tell me that you want to cut your hair off,
get a lower facelift, tighten your neck, tighten your stomach, I'm like, that's your
prerogative, you do you.
Like I just, I think that that's interesting to look at the human nature of why anyone
cares what people are doing.
Yeah, I think it feels like, I think it feels like, I think it feels.
threatening when you see something that feels unattainable. And it boils down to when you're
happy with yourself, you can be happy for someone else. You know, and when you're miserable,
it just feels like, I mean, my mom always said misery loves company. And I think that the happier
that I am with myself, the happier I can be for others. I'm never going to be six feet tall.
I like let I show off my midriff because my legs aren't it. But like I, like, I, like, I,
love a great pair of legs. I'm like, oh my God, I would never wear pants if I had those legs.
Where do you think that your self-esteem and confidence comes from? Because even like when you came in
here, like you allude confidence. Like, and I think that you also have a great confidence because
you've told me all these people that you've worked on doing makeup. You like to make other people
feel confident. Where does that come from? It's funny that you asked that. When I was a kid,
I hated playing pretend
because it wasn't real.
And so I would go over to my girlfriend's house
and they would be like,
okay, you're the step sister
and, you know,
all of these things
or they would create scenarios.
And I remember just like
not being happy with playing pretend.
I totally feel that.
You do?
And I can't talk about dreams.
Go on.
I can't talk about dreams.
I can't talk about dreams.
I'm like, oh my God,
pass the catch up.
Like, I got to get out of here
because the dream is fake.
Oh my gosh.
We're soul sisters.
I can't with a big.
It's my pet peeve.
This is amazing.
I've never heard anybody with this.
I can't.
I'm like squeezing like when my kids say, wait till your kids tell you.
Oh.
And you're just like, oh, I hate it.
You're like wrapping through it.
Like pinching your nail in your hair.
Oh my gosh.
I'm like squeezing.
I hate when people tell me their dreams.
Yeah, but I get the pretend thing.
Go on.
So I think I would really like, I like to say draw a circle around myself and fix what's in it.
Okay.
And anytime I think.
I felt like some kind of way over someone else's success or someone else's achievements,
I would be like, that is, that has nothing to do with me. Okay, so Katie, what do you have to do
to get to where you need to be so that that is no longer either threatening or enticing or
whatever. And so I always just kind of circle back to what I can control. And I mean, I do think that
it benefits me. And plus I just have, I think I just have a nature where
I love making women feel good about themselves.
And that's really important to me.
I don't know.
I just feel like we should all,
we should all be doing that for each other.
I don't know.
Like, I don't know why.
There's so many haters.
I think that there's a projection thing going on.
Yeah.
If you look at it as a whole.
But I think that you're so right about drawing a circle around yourself
and figuring out what you can do,
little habits.
little things to make your life better because the more confident you are in yourself,
the better you feel towards others. It's pretty simple. It really is. And it's like,
I think anytime you feel the need to lash out or put someone else down or demean their hard
work, you have to stop or you should stop and just have some self-confrontation of saying like,
this is about me. That person's just living their life. It's wild. There's this story about
this actor that just came to Hollywood and he saw this huge poster of Tom Cruise, like on Hollywood Boulevard.
And Tom Cruise was on like 10 different billboards for 10 different movies.
And he was getting really, really jealous as he drove down Hollywood Boulevard.
He had just arrived there to be an actor.
And he was getting more jealous and more jealous as each billboard went on.
And then towards the end, he realized, wait, Tom Cruise is opening up space in the acting industry for there to be more movies for guys like me.
Right.
And it's so true.
If you look at, if you look at like, say like I'm jealous, let's say I have an influencer.
Yeah.
That influencer has opened doors that maybe wouldn't have existed for me.
Does that make sense?
No, it's really good.
It's opening up space and energy for other things to be cultivated.
And I think that that's why I'm so transparent about the things that I've done.
Yeah.
Because I want to say like, this is accessible.
to you. I mean, it might be, and I've had a ton of conversation with women that talk about the financial aspect of it. And I'm like, listen, there were times where no nails, hair wasn't done, but I was getting facials and lasers. At birthdays, Christmas, I'm like, that's what I want. What's worth it? You think facials lasers? Oh, 100%. If you're on a budget, if you are on a budget, you need to start with skin.
Okay.
Anything that has to do with skin.
And another thing, if you're in your 20s and you're listening to this and people are talking about preventative Botox, this is a hot take.
Okay.
But I do not believe in preventative Botox.
Go off.
Okay.
I think that even if you were to start Botox at 38, if you were to start Botox at 38, chances are there are no deep static lines that wouldn't be corrected on the first dose of Botox.
even if you were to start, you know, 18 years after you were 20.
Now, some people will have some static lines,
but it's these women in their late 40s, 50s, 60s that start Botox
that they are not able to erase some of those static lines.
But for the majority of women,
if you go in at 40 for your first time,
that neurotoxin will erase those lines.
It will paralyze the muscle.
and if you've been taking care of your skin for those last 18 years or whatever,
that has long-term benefits.
If you're doing something from the time that you're 20 to your 35 consistently with
skincare, that will carry you into your 60s.
I have a hot take to add to that.
I think it is so underestimated how manipulating the fascia in your face and massaging
your face can change your structure and your wrinkles. I cannot believe how much just massaging and
stimulating and working the muscle can change what you don't like. So for instance, if you have a
number 11 and you can't stand it, there are so many different ways to stretch the muscles up here
in your face to stretch it out. I think that the fact that people just wake up and put skincare on
without any manipulation of the face is fucking wild.
Yeah.
I think that's like,
I think that should be the foundation of the skincare.
I mean,
that's been happening for centuries and cultures all over.
I mean,
I will do my eyebrow in the morning and it will be up here and the other one's down here
because I don't do it yet.
That's wild.
It's like a totally different eyebrow.
Yeah.
And I think that you're so right about really investing in skin care at a young age
and making sure you're doing that instead of just going to Botox.
because you might, I mean, I started Botox very young, but looking back, I didn't have a solid
routine that I should have had. And if I had had that and facial manipulation, I wasn't doing it
at that age. It would have changed the game. A hundred percent. And I just think that that these
young girls are doing the wrong things and investing in the wrong things too young. And then they're
like, because your skin is aging regardless. Right. Even. Even.
Even with Botox, your skin is deteriorating.
Right.
And if you are not putting things into place to keep up that collagen production, you know,
to really invest in the elasticity of your skin, preserving it.
If you are not protecting it, man, I mean, it's like, yeah, you won't have wrinkles,
but then you're wondering why the skin still sags or it's still stretched out or these pores are,
you know, pulled because you've done nothing.
nothing to nurture and give back to that skin or to kind of slow down that natural progression.
If you had like a Katie course where you could take a wand, a Katie course, you should do one
and like do a wand across everything. What are the little tips and tricks that you wish women
could hear that would help keep things in harmony, whether it's beauty, health, I know that you're
really into style. Like what are the things that you've really found that work? Okay. So there,
There's a couple things. And it's going to run the gamut, right?
Let's go. This is the podcast to do it. Hold on. I'm going to sit back with a piece of hay in my tooth and relax. Go ahead. And Michael's not here. So he's like, he's not here to interrupt.
I know. It's not here to interrupt. It's so weird. It's like off putting. I don't know. It's off putting. Okay. So a couple things. You touched on Harmony and I'm a big believer of that.
lately, something that I've found that I've fallen in love with that I didn't realize
makes such a difference is your colors.
We talked about that a little bit, but not only your colors,
because that's something that I saw my mom doing in like the 90s with the like, you know,
swatches of fabric.
It is so much more now.
But one of the things that I discovered is I think it's called chroma.
but it's like
when you're wearing
colors with high contrast or low contrast
so for instance
I look better in a lot
low contrast colors
so if it was a pattern
it would be more of like a marbling
or something
but then there's people with high contrast
that can do high chroma and they look good
with like black and white like black and white stripes
or black and white polka dots
I could not see you in black and white stripes
that makes sense
I see you definitely more in like a softer palette.
And when you wore white on the podcast the first time, it was like, I feel like white is one of your colors.
And I struggled because I was like everything.
I was like, I shouldn't have worn white.
I loved it.
I thought it was really pretty.
Okay, good.
No.
And that's the thing is that was such a game changer because you can look at someone's pictures.
And we've talked about hair color.
I also think like if high contrast is not you, like if that doesn't suit you, then getting the really dark
tans and having really bleach bonn hair is not going to serve you.
But if there is somebody that has high contrast, they probably look good with like a tan.
I think you and I have the same colors, I would think.
I was going to say you and navy versus you and black.
It's better.
I know.
I just taught the two girls that were just in here were stylists.
Navy, this is what my best friend said.
She goes, Lauren, everyone who's working in retail is wearing a lot of black.
And so it's kind of like a common color.
Navy is like a little bit of a, it's a, it's a black, but it's a little.
Yeah.
It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's just.
What do they say, Navy is the color of the wealthy?
No, the Navy's the black of the wealthy.
I love that.
No, and I believe that.
Okay.
But it, it is like, immediately when you, when you, like, popped up, I was like, okay.
Your eyes sparkle, all of it.
It looks so good.
But I do think that knowing your colors, that is the.
the cheapest thing you can do and you're going to look so much better. It's just so everything is
cohesive. It favors you. I don't know. Okay. What else? What are the other things? Makeup tips,
nails, style. What are all the little things that really help? I think that there's room for personal
expression. Like, I definitely don't want to steal that from somebody. If you like things,
you know, I don't know, like if you're a little bit more out there.
Like, have those things.
Have your personal style.
But I don't think that anything should be super distracting from your beauty unless that's
just your brand.
Like if you're just like, kooky or, you know, like that's you, I think overall, what I've
noticed is most women don't want to stand out.
They actually want to fit in.
And I think that when women.
do that, they're stealing other people's fashion or other people's style because they want to fit in,
but it's not for them. It doesn't work for them. And I think it's really important that you can be,
you can fit in better by knowing your own personal style and colors and makeup choices.
not not every influencer that's teaching you how to do makeup knows you.
Like they're not looking at you.
And so my goal is to empower you to be your own artist,
to make these decisions, to ask those questions.
Like, is this serving me well?
And I think in my age demographic,
it goes back to women just being stuck.
They're just stuck and they're unable to see themselves in a different way.
So this lady that I knew that was kind of like,
I just loved her.
She was such a mentor woman for me.
She said flexibility is the sign of health.
She had polio as a kid and she was just talking about how her doctors say that.
But I think that that goes from mentally to being mentally flexible and having that ability to say, wait a minute.
I always tell women, if you're looking around and you're saying, wow, that looks good on everybody else, like this trend, but not me, then it probably does look good on you.
you're just unable to see yourself differently.
So like if you're looking around at everybody and you're like,
wow, these fuller brows look so good,
but I look better in like a super skinny brow.
No, you probably also would be served well with a fuller brow.
You just can't see yourself outside of this little box you put in.
In my purse, there are always three things.
And I mean always three packets of symbiotica.
Right now I'm doing the glutathione.
I do it every single time I drink alcohol.
I'm also doing the magnesium packet because magnesium is so important and a lot of us are low in it.
And then I have their vitamin C packet.
These are so convenient.
So I throw them in my handbag and I'm out the door.
The vitamin C is kind of like an orange taste.
It's delicious.
And then the glutathion is the perfect like syrupy sweet but not too sweet.
And then the magnesium tastes like caramel.
And everything is incredible because it has advanced liposomal deliver.
Everything is going to ensure that your body absorbs the nutrients much faster and more effectively than supplements.
There's also no like weird burps.
They have no filler, no harmful additives.
We've had the founders on our podcast probably seven times.
We're so obsessed with the brand.
Their products are clean and made with intention.
They don't contain seed oils, preservatives, toxins, artificial additives.
My health goal this winter is to just get on track with supplements and make sure I'm doing it daily.
and these are three that I cannot live without.
They also have this magnesium spray that I like too.
If you're not a fan of eating something,
it's a spray you put on your body.
I put it on my feet, on my hands,
even on my neck before I go to bed.
It's like lavender scented.
It's amazing.

The other day, my daughter and I made the best recipe ever. It was inspired by Giselle. And what you do
is you cut dates in half. You take out the seeds. You put them on your non-toxic baking sheet.
And then you drizzle chocolate. I did a dark chocolate and a little bit of almond butter on top.
And then you put it in the fridge. It's so good. And of course, the baking sheet that I used,
the non-toxic one, was by Caraway. If you have not tried Carraway and you're looking to ditch the chemicals in
your kitchen, you have to. Carraway homes.
non-toxic kitchenware features a chemical-free ceramic coating. So the food can be prepared with
peace of mind. I love this with my daughter. We had so much fun. They have like a naturally sleek
surface too on the baking sheet, which is awesome. So when I wanted to eat my dates, my chocolate
covered almond better dates, I could easily cut it and eat it. Carraways products are made without any
toxic materials like PFSA, PTFE, or PFAO.
One of the ways I upgraded my life was going non-toxic in so many areas.
And one of these areas was I switched up all my cookware, my bakeware, and even like my
utensils.
They really have everything all in one place.
I did the cream set.
It's very chic.

kitchenware before the holidays. Carraway, non-toxic cookware made modern. I have recently really
up to my tennis game in the last two years. Michael and I play all the time and I want to look cute
on the courts. So I've been wearing this dress. It's by Roebuck. It's called the Demi Active
dress. I like it in Fleet Navy. They also have seasonal colors, but I find the Navy to be a very
flattering and very cute, especially with like a little roached sock and a white tennis shoe.
It's adorable.
I love how they have adjustable straps on it, which is awesome because it holds the girls up.
If you know what I'm saying, it's tagless, it's comfortable.
I wash mine in cold water.
It never shrinks.
It's really incredible.
If you're looking for a tennis dress, this is the one.
Roeback also has an entire new women's ball collection.
So if you're not into a tennis dress, they have a lot of different things.
so you could do like a hoodie and a jogger set.
They have all different ridiculously soft sets.
They have mid-rise.
Everything's very flattering.
Their fabric is next level amazing.
It's super buttery.
If you're on their site,
you can also check out their jogger sets.
People are really into them
because they're like a cotton poly blend
and they're ridiculously soft inside.
If you haven't already,
it's now time to try out some Roeback.
You can use code Skinny on roback.com
for a generous 20% off your first order

and more with Code Skinny.
Stay comfortable all day with Roeback.
You can't also get stuck in the version of where you think you're the hottest.
I think you can evolve into your hots.
So, like, I would say, like, I'm at this phase where I wanted to be a little bit more classy.
Like, a little bit with my style.
little bit more classy. And 10 years ago, that was not the goal. It was different. And I think like each,
I feel like every 10 years, you need to like re-evaluate of like what the goal is. I'm a mother of two now.
It's like my life has changed. I'm married. And I think that as you sort of change and have your
different eras, it's important to sort of take inventory of that. I love the way you said that.
Take inventory. I think that's so important. And I've seen your style evolve. And it's like very.
Does you see the book?
I was funny.
I mean, but it's cool, right?
Because it's also, I mean, look at you.
You're a bombshell.
You could wear anything.
You could do anything.
But you're honing in on your brand and who you are and how you want to present yourself to the world.
And I love it.
I think it's so, and it's funny because I'll go into like St. Laurent and I'll be like,
oh, that's so Lauren.
Like I can see, you know, things that just remind me of you.
And when when that starts.
to happen, I feel like you're really on the right track.
It's been a journey.
Like I used to be someone who wanted like huge boobs with the brightest blonde hair.
Give me the bleach.
Give me the longer nails.
Give me.
And it's just I've just changed.
And it's funny, I feel more comfortable at this age than I did at 21.
Absolutely.
Which sort of tells you it's a compass, I think, right?
It's a compass of like, are you on the right track?
of like what looks the best and what makes you feel the most confident.
Right.
And I think everything has like you need to weigh it, right?
Yeah.
Like I'm a firm believer that shorter nails are definitely classier.
I was just going to say, see, I like your nails on you.
That's why I'm saying though, like sometimes something looks so good on someone else,
but it doesn't look good on me.
You do.
You have to know, you have to know who you are.
And honestly, it helps you shop because I'll look at loafers.
That's like like, so one, there's like two, I would say two genres that just aren't me.
Yeah.
Super feminine.
Okay.
Is not me.
So if something's like roughly or puff sleeve, I can like it all day long, but I know that's not me.
And if it's, if I buy it and put it in my closet, I'll never reach for it.
Right.
And then the other thing I would say would be like preppy, which I would say you lean towards
a preppy, like loafers, you know.
I like preppy.
Yeah.
like stripes, things like that.
Like I love it.
And there's like a Gucci loafer out right now that I love, but I won't wear it.
Yeah.
And so I have to know that about myself.
I have more of like, I love a street style.
I love that.
I love more, you know, just a little bit more playful with like silhouettes.
Yeah.
Those are things that get me excited.
And so I think there's room for personal expression, but also like creating this whole
picture is really important. What are things that you wish people would stop doing? From like maybe
overwaxing a brow to like using the wrong eye shot. Like what are all the things that you're like,
you know, I wish that we could just stop doing this? I mean, I, I, lash extensions. And I love a lash.
Like, I love a lash. But too many of the lash texts don't understand the anatomy of the eye.
Oh my God. You're the only person I could talk to about this. I understand.
exactly what you're going to say.
And I'm like, why is that?
They're weighing the eye down so much, or they make the eye smaller instead of opening it
it out.
Or it's curled like a pubic hair.
Oh, yeah, or it looks like a curly hair.
Whose lashes is curled all, like.
Or it's sticking up into here.
Or it's just as long on the inside as it is on the outside.
Yeah.
I think you're so, if you do lashes, I think that's so important.
This is so weird people, how to flatter the eye.
You have to be able to map the.
the lashes out, even if they are like an unnatural length, I'm awful.
I love a glam.
Like I love a glam glam.
And it's funny because side note, when I was young, my mom like Oprah would be on or something
and Oprah would like have short nails and they would never be polished.
And she's like the rich, they don't use polish.
They don't have long nails.
Like all the things that the rich did.
And you know, you like eat your soup with your spoon going away.
She was very Emily Post.
But the tide has shifted, right?
There are rich people that just, and we just kind of alluded to this earlier,
class and rich don't go hand in hand anymore.
You know, we have that old money aesthetic,
and that's a little still kind of in that same vein.
But we can't really decide if someone's like, you know,
wealthy based on appearance.
Right.
But when someone is flattering,
then that's really,
what's important. And this also goes to if you are getting injected, it's also so important to have
someone that understands the face anatomy, even like doing brows, all of these things, you have to have
someone who has taste mixed with artistry. And it's a really rare mix. It's like, this is why I'm
always on a mission to find like the best facelist. I don't, if I go into a facial and the person is
massaging my face down, I'm never going to.
go to that facial. Okay, when you come to Dallas, I have the best facelist. Her name is Robin,
the Dallas facelist. She goes up. She goes up, but she does the buckle massage. Yeah, there we go.
Yeah. I didn't know I was carrying so much tension here. Yeah, and it releases. I almost cried.
Oh, that's because it releases emotion. Does it? Yeah. I could feel that. It releases. There's a lot of
emotion held right there. She's a miracle worker. Yeah, it makes you feel like, like, like you're going to sob.
Yes. Yeah, it's weird. It's very weird. But if you, this is, I'm so passionate about facial massage. I think people think I'm crazy. It's changed my life. I literally feel like I have given myself a facelift with facial manipulation. But I love that. Because if you think about your face, your face is full of fascia. And if the fascia's never stretched or touched, like people are like, oh, I'll do it online. They're like, you're, you're stretching your skin. No, I'm not. I'm actually manipulating the fascia to stretch up to pull the face up.
But also that idea that you're stretching the skin with just like touching it, I'm like, okay, I've seen pregnant belly snap back without stretching.
Like our skin is elastic.
It's not.
And also like, let me give you the other side of that.
How about never touching your skin?
Because that's a blockage of lymphatic.
Anyways, we could go off.
No, 100%.
The eyelashes, I think, is a really good one.
What are other things that you look at that you're just like, oh my God, I wish people knew more?
Please stop doing that.
I don't know.
There's things that I do that I recognize, like.
I love self-awareness.
I could be stuck in like 10 years because I'm for sure my hottest right now.
Don't say that though, because you're putting that out into the ether.
Okay.
Like, I really think I'm going to be my hottest when I'm like 65.
Well, I mean my hottest as of yet.
I think that you're going to be even hotter in 10 years.
That facelift.
I've already, I already have the.
plan. What's the plan? The plan? February
2023, I'm talking with my first facial plastic surgeon. I had to get on his list a year and a half ago.
Can you tell us who it is? Dr. Moscaro. Okay. And are you going to go to other ones or are you just with him?
I will talk to other ones. But okay, so when looking for a plastic surgeon, a couple of the things that I look for.
Okay. I look for their scar work. Ooh, that's a good one. That is to me up there.
That's a good one. Because a lot of the, you can call, like these doctors are,
like marketing, they call it a certain name, right?
They're also editing things out.
For sure, for sure.
But they'll take their technique and then they'll call it a certain name.
And people will be like, well, I have to go to that doctor.
I mean, it's genius.
And it's $300,000 for a facelift.
Right.
And you're like, that's just a deep plane facelift.
Like it's the same thing that, you know, homie over here is doing.
But they're just really good at marketing.
But good for them, right?
However, those, there's pretty much like three basic facelift techniques.
Okay.
So that's it.
But scar, like suturing and getting that scar skinny, that's where art meets science.
When you get a facelift, will you do the whole thing?
Will you do a lower?
I will do the, well, I've already had a brow lift.
Okay.
But I will, like, if he's like, hey, there's some more work to be done, I'd be like, that is when people get into the mistake.
That's, okay, that's my second one.
Okay.
When people piecemeal things.
And they just.
I don't know.
What is piecemeal?
Like, instead of doing the.
entire like everything that needs to be done or like injections they just go in and they they
want just the cheeks we talked about this last time or you know as oh i i just want my neck
well everything like it's like that old song like the knee bones connected to the thigh but like
they're all connected so you you will talk to a plastic surgeon about the facelift that you want
to get but you will say what what are the things that actually need to be done as opposed to i
I just really want this.
Yeah, I will not go in and say, no, no, no, I don't want this.
I'm not afraid of scars.
I'm not afraid.
I think people are their worst enemy because they're trying to shortcut things because
fear is ruling them.
So either they're afraid of like the big scar or too much work.
But in reality, doing it all is the most natural, cohesive thing you can do because they all play
against one another. And I think if anyone's listening and they're like, oh, well, this isn't
something I can afford. My advice, and you could say your advice would be, I would wait and save
the money and wait an extra five, ten years before just doing it half-ass. And I've never had a
facelift yet. Yeah. I probably won't either one. But like, I think like from what I've gathered from
interviewing all these plastic surgeons is like that's the way to do it. Absolutely because you throw
off. I mean, everything is connected, right? So if somebody's like, well, it's just, it's just my neck.
Well, the neck and the jaw line, you know, you can't just pull here and then not, I mean,
really truly. It's another problem. Right. And also, skin is, it's, it's like fabric. It's like if
you pull on one corner of the bed, you're going to ripple some other places. I mean, that's a real thing.
Right. I mean, you need to pull all four corners. Yep. So.
of how I feel. One of the things I personally like about you so much, and I think our audience liked,
is you are so honest about everything. I think that it's refreshing because there's so many people
that are just lying or not saying anything, lying and not saying anything. I think part of my
reason is getting online, my goal was never to be revered. You know, I didn't want to be this untouchable,
right? I don't, it wasn't. I wanted to be related.
and I realize that some of the things I do
doesn't feel relatable to the average woman.
They're like, you do all these things.
And I'm like, yes, I understand that.
But my goal is to show you just exactly how I got here.
So it might not be something that you want to follow in my footsteps,
but at least you know.
Yeah.
You know should you want to.
And there were times like I drove an Ultima that only had one working handle.
You had to push a popsicle stick.
to move it and I was driving that little piece of shit all the way to like my laser tech.
I mean,
that was important to you.
That was I, those were my priorities.
I'm not saying right, wrong or indifferent.
That just was my priority.
Yeah.
I think though that that has has really made you a really lucrative career out of being so
honest and showing all the nitty gritty.
I think that people are craving that online.
What is a piece of content that you've.
put out that went like viral crazy.
I know you've had a couple pieces.
What are things that have really resonated with your audience, good or bad?
I would say the transformation ones, those do so well.
And I think it is because one, here's a couple things.
When I show a picture of me in my 20s, I'm 42.
Even if I were to do nothing, my face would look different.
It's 20 plus years.
So people are like, why did you do all that?
You look so different.
Like, do you look the same as you did at 20?
I mean, most women won't.
You probably do, but.
No, I don't look the same.
I think that blonde hair on me was aging.
I agree.
Like, I just, I don't look the same.
But you looked hot still.
It was a different look.
Yeah.
I happen to like it.
I will always like that look, but that was.
It was a moment.
It was a moment.
And listen, the moments passed.
That's, you know,
what, if that could be what people take away from today, it would be that. Look in the mirror.
And if you've, if you've been rocking that for 10, 20 years, we have to fresh.
The moment has passed.
You should. Yeah, we're pivoting.
Isn't it fun, though, to be able to do that? Like, I think that's so much fun.
Well, and that's where I was going and you're sitting with someone so ADD, but that that lady.
That's you too. Okay.
So that lady was saying like, flexibility is a sign of health.
And that's when I said, okay, being mentally flexible is the healthiest thing.
And being healthy is important.
So I don't ever want to do anything half-assed.
That's why I eat right.
That's why I exercise.
I tell people, I do all the other things.
These are not shortcuts for me.
But I am curating who I want to be.
And we all get to decide who we want to be.
And there's things where I'm like, that's.
too much. That's too far. Like cooking. Removing a rib. Yeah. Removing a rib. By the way, people
remove ribs. I know everyone thinks that that's crazy that they're hearing this. There are people that I know
that remove ribs. Oh, 100%. That is the thing. I think though this is important for people to hear.
This is my goal. It's just, like, what you think is olive oil is not olive oil. But it's just not. It's
just not. It's also so much more complex. It's not, it's also to me not just a facelift, right?
There's so many different facets, which is why your content resonates, you show all the different
things that are going on. It's a lot of different things. And that's the thing too, as I say,
like my celebrity clients, they take health and wellness like it's their full-time job. I mean,
listen, I'm, you are a prime example. I cannot not.
take my health and wellness like it's my full-time job or I cannot show up and do my best
working the kind of work that I do. I have to take my health and wellness like a job.
And those things, if somebody were to say, would you cut out fitness or plastic surgery,
100% plastic surgery? Right. Right. That to me, we all know the people that do nothing for
their health. Right. And then that's not attractive. It is the whole picture. And what people
seem to hyper fixate on when I'll do a post that I'll say, here's what I did from 20 to 40.
And I'll say, I went more natural with my brow shape, something that's truer to my
original brows.
I went closer to my natural hair color.
This is my natural hair color.
I lost 100 plus pounds.
I work out every day.
I eat a balanced diet.
I sleep, like I sleep a lot.
all of these things I take care of I get my blood checked in case any of my hormones I'm at that stage
right where it's like I want to be on top of it I'm already having conversations okay what does it look
like those kind of things and then I'll say oh and I get filler Botox I've had an upper bluff a mommy
makeover and they're like oh like they jump on that and it's like all of this stuff was equally important
I know you don't think it is, but it is.
It's the whole picture.
I think maybe it could be perceived as an excuse not to execute on the other things because
the plastic surgery is an easy way out.
Boom.
You nailed it.
I mean, that really is.
It's an easy target because then otherwise they go, oh, gosh, those are things that I could do.
Yeah.
But you know what?
I am not going to do plastic surgery.
So she's vapid and full of herself.
I also think five things can be true.
I can love aesthetics and talking about things like this,
but I can also want to read McAvelli and talk to Andrew Huberman
and be really into wellness.
I think that this idea that just because you talk about plastic surgery
that you're this one thing is really, it lacks intelligence when people say that.
It almost makes me think like there's a lack of intelligence when there's a fixation on the plastic surgery.
You can be really into that, but also be into other things that are completely different.
Well, and I say that all the time.
I'm like, it would be like, you know, it's who, what was that famous actress that said, you know, sex is only an hour of the day, but then you have to spend the other 23 hours with them?
that's how I feel it's like, look, all of this aesthetics and stuff is such a tiny piece of who I am.
And quite frankly, I'm not afraid of getting older.
I'm going to get older.
So my identity, I always say, I love aesthetics, but it's not my identity.
I have put a lot of eggs in the basket that will last me a lifetime because I know that you're just going to get older.
And youth is beautiful, right?
but I have so much more that I'm proud of.
It's being multi-layered.
My vibe, I printed this out and put it on my bathroom mirror.
I'm going to stop it.
The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time
and still retain the ability to function.
F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I love it.
It's like just because something's true doesn't mean that.
something else isn't true.
And just because one person is left doesn't mean that there's something not right, right.
I think we've lost, like, just because someone likes plastic surgery doesn't mean they don't have
other interests.
Well, that's what people think.
They think that plastic surgery and being, you know, vapid is mutually exclusive.
Right.
And I'm like, just because I'm curating my image in a way that seems outlandish to you,
doesn't mean that you hold the barometer for what.
it's acceptable because you dye your hair, you put on makeup, you get dressed in clothes that make you
happy, that is your way of curating your image. I've taken mine one step further and that's for me,
but that shouldn't threaten you. Either you step up, if that's something that you want to look a
certain way, you draw that circle around yourself, you become that. But I absolutely think that you are
hitting the nail on the head.
It's like,
I think women are put into these boxes.
And on these posts that go viral,
it's mostly men that feel so threatened.
Mostly.
They're still women.
Maybe they have a hard on for you.
You know what?
I think it's this reflection of like,
that's a woman that rejected me in the past.
And so she stands for,
everything that I'm against. And, you know, or something. I honestly don't understand it. I always
keep thinking about what Michael said. And I'm like, he's like, I don't, a real man isn't even
like online like that. It's so weird. It's so weird. It's creepy crawly. It is, it's sad. It makes
me happy that I'm not in that world anymore. You look amazing. I think that everyone would be
mad if you didn't walk us through an exact day of what you eat and how you work out because you're
very serious about that tell us i want like you to tell me like i wake up at seven and i first have
my lemon basil water like give us the whole day i'm going to guess that you don't like that you
don't want a decision fatigue meaning i'm going to guess you probably eat the same thing every day
if i were to guess absolutely do i'm a creature of habit it's it's why i don't travel a lot i live vicarious
through you. And it does give me a little anxiety because I'm like, I just eat protein all the whole
time. But I also, I'll have, I'll have the carbs. I just start with protein. That's the tip.
I eat it all. I eat a very balanced diet. You know, people don't really like when I say this,
because I eat low calorie. Let's go off. Who cares? Tell us what you, tell us how you eat. And this is
just me. So I did macros for a really long time. And I always
felt fluffy. And I just think people were trying to get me like, it was like this bodybuilding
way of eating. And I just always felt like I wasn't that lean like I wanted. And I went back to
like the 90s style of just you counting calories. But what those years of macros taught me was to
implement more protein than we did in the 90s. The skinny confidential him and her podcast
is sponsored by Better Help. This month is all of
about gratitude. Some of the high performers that come on the show talk about how they have
this gratitude practice where they thank the people that they have in their life. So they think
of people that have been impactful in their lives or have been helpful. One thing that is not
talked about nearly enough is how we don't thank ourselves enough. It's sometimes hard to remind
ourselves that we try our best to make sense of everything in this world. It's a crazy world.
It isn't easy. There's stuff going on all the time. So here's the reminder to send some thanks
to the people in your life, including yourself. This is why we love BetterHelp so much.
BetterHelp gives access to online therapy to anyone at any time of day from the comfort of your own home or office, right from your own digital device of your choosing.
It gives access to people that have not had access before.
BetterHelp has been a longtime partner of this podcast.
Lauren and I get the benefit of talking about our feelings and our thoughts every single week with all sorts of people.
And many of those people come on and talk about how therapy has been so impactful in their life.
Sometimes just sharing an idea or thought, just getting something off your chest can make all the different.
in your personal life.
So if you've been thinking of starting therapy, give BetterHelp a try.
It's entirely online, like I said, designed to be convenient, flexible, and suited to your schedule.
All you have to do is fill out a brief questionnaire to get matched with a licensed therapist.

Do you get dry elbows, dry knees, dry legs in the winter?
Well, I have the ultimate recommendation.
Ultra repair cream from first aid beauty.
This is such a great dupe for some brands that are super pricey.
I am telling you this was recommended to me by a friend.
I had like little bumps and dry patches on my arm and she's like,
Lauren, try this.
This was years ago.
Every single time I get any dry patches, I reach for this.
It's the best daily moisturizer if you're looking for something that really hydrates the skin.
And I looked into it, and the reason it is is because it has colloidal oatmeal in it.
I know about this specific oatmeal because when I was a little girl and I got chicken pox, my mom put me in an oatmeal bath.
So it totally makes sense that a moisturizer with colloidal oatmeal in it would repair the skin.
It's cruelty-free, vegan and fragrance-free.
I love fragrance-free.
And it's safe for skin.
It has like a very luxurious whipped texture and it absorbs into your skin.
It's not greasy or filmy like some other brands.
It just really hydrates and doesn't clog your pores.
I know you'll all love First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream as much as I do.

one of the reasons I lost weight and my hair has become shiny and long is because of my daily
bowl of meat. You have to get the meat though with organs in it. This is like a hot tip. And I like to
make sure I make it fun every single day. So I have a hack. I have been using Mossa chips. Okay.
This is leveling up my beef bowl. These are organic corn traditional tortilla chips. So what I do is
I scoop my beef bowl with them and why I like these chips is because they are seed oil free and they're
tallow based. Everything is low temp fried and beef tallow, which is nature's multivitamin. Talo is packed with
vitamin A, D, E, and K, and everything that your body is craving for a natural glow. It's like a fountain
of youth in a chip. I like this corn way better than almond flour that most chips are made out of.
Almonds are usually sprayed with a bunch of pesticides and tallow is not. They also use real
Redmond sea salt, which is loaded with minerals. So the ingredients are so minimal in these chips.
There's like lime, 100% grass-fed beef tallow, you got the organic corn. I like the spicy one.
So there's chili in there.
It's like a habanuro chili.
They also have other flavors.
My daughter is obsessed with the churo ones.
There's churho chips, you guys.
But again, it's beef tallow based.

So what's the day in their life?
It's Monday morning.
You just had a fun weekend.
So I do naturally wake up at 630.
Like my body wakes me up at 6.30 every morning.
I try to be in bed by, I try to be asleep by 10.30.
But I get in bed by 8.
And I do you?
And it was earlier.
Like when my kids were younger, it used to be earlier.
I mean, sometimes 7.30.
I know.
Same.
As soon as I can get into bed.
Same.
In fact, it's a little late right now.
I know.
Next time our podcast be in bed.
Yeah.
Great.
Love it.
Seriously.
Pick Michael out.
But I do.
do drink a full glass of water when I wake up.
I'm old school and I don't eat before I work out.
We talked about that last time a little bit.
And that makes my trainer's crazy.
But I'm just so used to it that it would take me a while to get out of that.
Because I feel, I just feel my best when my stomach's empty.
Are we doing coffee, vitamins, supplements, electrolytes?
I don't use electrolytes unless I'm going to be sweating like crazy.
Okay.
Otherwise, I don't use them.
I drink a energy drink before I go.
It's Celsius every day.
And it's one flavor.
Okay.
And it's the only flavor.
Orange?
No, it's this mango.
It's carbonated.
It's like mango something Celsius.
If you want to hook me up.
Not before I work out.
Okay.
I work out with that.
I drink my water.
I'd get a coffee on the way home.
It's just an oat milk with coffee.
Okay.
Get home.
And then I will have some sort of protein supplement, way protein supplement.
And then I will wait until midday.
Okay.
And I will have one taco.
Okay.
What's on the taco?
Just meat of some kind and a flour tortilla and salsa.
And if I'm filling frisky, a little bit of cheese.
Okay.
But I keep it every, like any time I eat, it's usually under a certain calorie count.
So you count the calorie.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
And I mean, that's what I do.
And I- No dinner.
Do what?
No dinner.
No, I eat dinner, but I stop everything.
by seven o'clock. Okay. So what are you eating for dinner? So I usually eat with my family.
Okay. So I used to be super crazy and would eat my own meals, but I thought, I'm not going to do
that anymore because I have a daughter that's getting into the age where she's starting to look at
what I'm doing. Uh-huh. I mean, it was just really important to me that, that I changed things for her.
Okay. Because I do know that I have issues. Like, I know that, like, this is a long time coming,
and I wish I had had. What do you mean issues?
Well, I struggle with weight.
And my mom, I grew up in the fat-free era, and I was allowed to eat anything as long as it didn't have fat.
So my mom would let me like gorge on like, so I had a sweet tooth and I still do.
So she would let me eat all the sourpatch kids I wanted.
I had snack, wheels, cookies.
Everything was low fat or fat-free.
They didn't know.
Yeah, they didn't know.
So I had just a really, like, I didn't realize like, okay, food is energy.
And so I still do have some lingering.
things like that where but I've come a long way. So for dinner, I eat with my family. So whatever
they're eating, I just portion it out for myself. Are you having a cocktail ever? Yeah, I'll
have a cocktail. What's your cocktail of choice? I like, I like, sweet stuff. I can't, that's one
place where I'm like, listen, if I'm going to have coffee, I'm not doing black coffee. That's bean
water and that's disgusting. And my coffee has sugar and it has milk. You got to try,
raw milk. Okay, I'll try that. But I, my, I don't ever do.
cow's milk anything. You've got to try raw cows milk. It won't hurt your stomach. Okay. I believe
everything you say. I promise you the vitamins and enzymes for your skin, your hair. But where do I
get it? You get it from a farmer, a local farmer. In Dallas, are there farmers? Yeah. You just,
it's like you go to a farmer's market and you get raw milk. But why it's so good is it's the best,
you said you drink it after, but I think it's the best pre-workout. Because it's the coffee, so you
have energy.
Yeah.
Your Celsius.
Mm-hmm.
And then you have a little bit of fat, a little bit of protein, a little bit of carb.
And so it just like satiate you frost up.
It's like, it's like a milkshake.
Oh, I'm all over it.
I'll try it.
It's so good.
I think you should try it.
Yeah, I would.
You would definitely try that.
You just do like an inch with ice.
Like I like the pellet, ice, the coffee bean ice.
It's really good.
It's so good.
Try it.
I would be interested if you like that.
No, I will for sure try that.
And I will let you know.
Michael made ice cream out of it with like cacao.
Stop.
Yeah.
Was it so good?
It was pretty good.
No sugar though?
With protein powder in it?
But sugar?
He did protein powder, cacao, and raw milk.
I'm putting a little bit of sugar.
You can put a little bit of sugar.
I got.
I have to put a little bit of coconut sugar.
Okay, so so you're, it sounds like you are very strict upon how you eat and when you
eat.
I am, but it's just because that awesome.
is a comfort to me.
Yeah.
To have those,
like, it's just the routine of it.
But I am,
there are things where I'm like,
listen,
if I'm going to have a drink or whatever,
I like it to taste good,
you know,
I like.
I like when people are honest about this too,
because I think if you go back
and listen to the first episode with you,
you did lose 100 pounds.
Yeah.
And I think that there's probably,
like,
you probably want to make sure you're,
I would think,
because I have this with losing 60 pounds.
You want to make sure you're maintaining what you've worked so hard for.
Yeah.
I think that that aspect of losing weight is not talked about enough.
There's a little bit sometimes of anxiety of like for me.
Yes.
Oh my God.
Like I was 60 pounds heavier.
Like I want to make sure that I can maintain how I feel.
But when you know what you're capable of.
Yeah.
There is a little bit of like, okay.
Yeah, get to it.
Let's not go back there.
Yeah.
But it was such a long.
road of trial and error and trying different things out. This works for me. I don't feel deprived
ever. But I also temper that with busting my ass in the gym. Like I do a lot of things. And in fact,
like I had to switch things up when I started lifting heavy and doing far less cardio. But now,
now it's habitual. It's part of my, I mean, it's been 15 years now. So this is just part of my life and how, how I
I think it's just replacing and I feel like you've had the same journey as me with this.
It's replacing the bad habits with positive ones and adding so many positive habits that it crowds the bad out.
And you start becoming addicted to how good you feel.
You have said it so well.
It is, I always tell people, you're focusing on what you can't do instead of all the things you should be doing.
I would say add stuff in, don't take stuff out.
So instead of being like, oh my gosh.
I have to lose 50 pounds and I need to lose it right away.
Like I would, for me, like I added in a ton of me.
Yes.
That worked for me.
It works for my blood type.
Yes.
I added in a ton.
I crowded that.
It crowds everything out.
You're full.
Yeah.
So I think like crowding it out.
And then getting addicted to like waking up for you at 6.30.
For me, I like to wake up at seven.
But like I have my stuff that I do.
And you start to be like, oh my God, I don't want to feel bad during all this stuff.
Absolutely.
Oh, that's a big thing too, because I fell in love with fitness and that was important to me.
I wanted to feel my best when I was in there.
And so, you know, I created an environment that was conducive to going to the gym every day and making a habit.
And I have people ask me, how do you stay motivated?
And I'm like, it's not motivation, it's discipline.
And there's a big difference.
Yeah.
It's just something that you have to do.
I'm not motivated to brush my teeth.
I'm not motivated to do a lot of things.
Those are just things that you do.
And the other thing about the backsliding, that fear of backsliding,
I think always keeping in your mind like, yes, I've arrived, but it's a moving train.
It's a moving target.
There is no, there really is no maintenance.
You're either moving forward or you're kind of moving back.
Agreed.
And so I always have that mentality is how am I going to get better.
And now it's different goals.
I start to change things up in the gym.
gym. I have different growth goals, you know, working on the booty gains or a pull-up or something
like that. But when you get stuck of like, I've arrived, I think that's the killer for business,
for fitness, for aesthetics, life. You're just, that's not going to serve you.
Warren Buffett said like billion-dollar businesses fail because people just think they've reached
the mountain top. Right. And they fail. Yes. Billion dollar business.
is fail because they think they've reached the mountain top and they don't they can sit back and kick back
and relax and do nothing that's just not how it works it's constant life in progress and i think um
that you're so right that it is not motivation it's discipline and i obsessed with jaco how he says
discipline equals freedom that's such a good quote it's so simple it is so true it is one you know that you
are loving yourself well when you start to implement discipline in your life. And I just think it comes
out when you see somebody that's very disciplined, and I don't mean like, like regimented to the
point where they have no life. Right. I just mean that they make certain things priority.
You know, early on, like if I go to the gym at this time, I don't schedule jobs. In fact,
I heard someone say, you better schedule your day off before your day off schedules you.
And I was like, I don't believe that because there's always something to come up.
And so what happens is people will say, okay, my days off are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Well, then something comes up on Monday, but then they've already told themselves that Tuesday's their day off.
So then it's hard for them to get to the gym, but they've now missed Monday and Tuesday.
and then they go, and so I say, I just am the opposite.
I'm like, there's no days off.
And then life gets in the way.
That's exactly.
I say seven days a week.
It's working out.
Yeah.
And then you miss a day.
You're so right.
You miss a day.
Yeah.
Because life, we're moms, we're wives.
We're business owners.
Something is going to come up.
But now at this point in my life, like, it's so important to me.
Like, you can't really pay me to,
I feel the same way.
Get out of my routine.
No.
And also like the things like lifting or whatever it is, it keeps you sane to do the other stuff.
It keeps you strong to do the other things that you need to do.
It keeps you effective, efficient.
Like it's so important.
It really is like brushing your teeth.
And people say like, oh, you, someone said to me like, get, there's a big world out there.
Stop looking in the mirror.
And I go, no, I'm disciplined.
I don't need.
to. Like I don't need to look in the mirror to know I look good. Yeah, but I would say to that person. It's a big world out
there. Stop looking on Instagram. And right? That's like the given. But I think what they think is when you
look good, you're obsessed with it. And I go, no, I've implemented things in my life that now I'm free to not.
Like you said, discipline equals freedom. I'm free to let that go. My mind space was so much more
crowded with how I look and how I feel when I was unhealthy and overweight, then it is now.
I also think like I'm to the point where I'm not going to justify why I do things.
Like if I want to work out every day and I want to dye my hair and do my brows a certain way
and look good and still be a mother and a wife and work, like I'm just not going to justify it.
Like I just don't, I'm going to do what I want to do.
Yeah.
I'm maybe I have I'm I still feel a little like I have to defend myself you don't but I'm getting
there you don't you don't you can do what you want to do how you want to do it the way you want to do
it there's a lot of different ways to skin a cat this is true I mean listen we got to accept that
people have different priorities and ideas and not everyone is the same I will say for the most part
though my community they're amazing they're women that are like that's
not for me, but I love watching you do it. I see that from your community. You have a great community.
Such a good community. I mean, they're just such awesome women. And I think it's because when you are
raw and you start to show like the other aspects of yourself, they're like, oh, we're a lot more alike
than we are different, which, you know, is true. You know, like we all have like shitty things
going on in our lives and we all have. Everyone has hardships. And I think that the,
the detriment of a lot of people in the spotlight is that they don't show that side.
And that's what's giving aesthetics and this industry a bad rap because the humanity is lost.
And it's just this like, what's going on?
What is happening?
Yeah.
And if you don't, if you have no idea of what's happening, it's confusing.
Okay.
Can I say the other thing that I wish would stop aesthetically?
is brushing the brows straight up
like you've been electrocated.
I like it.
Straight up.
Straight up.
I'll tell you why I like it.
The whole thing.
The whole thing.
Well, like I have it.
I feel like you and I have the same.
Okay.
This is up and combed.
I'm talking the girls that go straight up
and it's like laminated straight up.
The only thing about that is it pulls your whole face up.
Yeah, but it's usually super young girls.
But that.
brings us full circle.
If super young girls are doing that,
then we should be doing it?
I don't know.
Because they're also,
but they're also,
they were also doing the mat like lip kit.
We might, this is what we need you to do.
We need,
we just go, have you go on your social media
and say, we just had a conversation
about flexibility and changing
and I'm going to try this,
this look.
I do do it.
So I believe in the bright.
brushed up.
Okay.
I like the brushed up.
It's where they don't.
Well,
I know what you're saying.
It's where they don't,
there's an arc to the brow.
Yeah.
They look electrocuted.
Maybe being electrocuted is what is useful.
Hey,
listen,
I'm going to be flexible right now.
What a perfect way to end the whole conversation.
I'm going to try.
Like, listen,
that is my keyword, though.
You say it's young and I'm like,
I'm all over it.
If you say all the young girls are doing it,
we got to try it, Katie.
Okay.
But I want to know,
how you feel about it before I go full electrocuted.
I love your brows right now.
Okay.
They're fluffy.
They're full.
They look natural.
Okay.
I do feel like it's a little electrocate.
I think it's a little too far.
I do think it's just like when the illuminator was like you could see it from space.
We had tin men walking around on the street.
It's where we've gone too far.
Okay.
We take a good thing and we go too far.
I think we've taken a good thing.
Like the cheek filler when it was pushing people's eye up and we
couldn't see their eyes.
Yes, all of it.
And it looks like the Peanuts characters dancing on, in Christmas.
The visual.
The visual.
The visual is so good right there.
It's so gnarly.
Okay.
What's in your bag?
What's in my bag?
My Chanel Shield Sunnies.
Okay.
My actual glasses because I'm blind now.
Love it.
My Shield Sunnies.
Cute.
Really cute.
So cute, right.
Flatter the face.
So cute.
So cute.
So cute.
So cute.
So cute.
Flat out of his face.
Yes, I love sun.
I love, I'm a sunglasses for.
Really cute.
So cute.
These are Tom Ford.
Adorable.
And they're dirty.
Papitas.
Love.
Yeah.
Protein and a crunch while I was driving.
I also, you know, my sweet tooth.
I have Mexican candy in here.
Okay.
Somewhere.
That's my favorite.
I brought you the snail serum.
Remember we talked about it last time?
Did you try it?
Yes.
No.
It's the 10-day intensive.
I want you to use one ampule day at night.
Okay.
It's the first thing you're going to.
to put on your skin.
Okay.
After you're going to have to text me all this.
I will.
I'll text you.
It's so good.
Okay.
It is my skin not glowing.
No, your skin looks amazing.
Like I prepped for this with this.
Your skin looks amazing.
Thank you, Bo.
Okay.
And I also brought you, diamonds are forever.
This is my favorite lipstick from Saint.
It's a Tomp for dupe.
Thank you.
Well, you always like shower everybody.
I heard Saints amazing.
I love it.
I love it.
Because it does your actual colors, right?
Yeah.
So, I mean, it's less is more.
It's cream.
And I prefer cream makeup, especially over 40 because...
Can you show me?
Will you text me the things that I should get from St.
I keep hearing about that?
Of course.
Text me what to get.
The Mexican candy.
The mango one.
Yum.
It's so good.
Okay.
Gum, a hair tie keys, phone, wallet, cash.
Because I drove here and my mom's like, always like, don't not have cash if you're in the car.
I don't even bring a wallet.
I need to take a tip from you.
Well,
that's, I'm aging myself.
All the young girls, they don't.
Ever.
They don't ever.
Bring anything.
I bring Michael.
And then my Battega back.
Because Battega is, I feel like Battega's not your style necessarily.
I love it.
No, I love it.
I think it's adorable.
It is like the, they're the best.
Their bags are so good.
I love it.
I think the bag is so cute.
Katie, you are welcome to come on anytime, Carson.
I can't wait to hear what you took out of that conversation.
I'm sure you took notes on all different kinds of kids.
Do you need some snail serum also?
Oh, Carson.
I'll bring you some next time.
Where can everyone find you?
Where can they work with you?
Pimp yourself out.
Go listen to her part one.
It's really, really good too.
And this was a fun, honest conversation
that I love.
My favorite kinds.
Pimp yourself out.
You can find me at Makeup and Skin by Katie
on Instagram is my favorite place to hang out,
but I'm also on TikTok.
You can send in a match.
I can also help you with skincare consult.
I work with a skincare nurse.
I actually do have a line of my own.
I never talk about it.
I know.
it's called cardio it's an acronym it's to help people simplify their skincare routine
cleanse acid retinol dark spot and it's e for extra or i and then oh for occlusive
and that just helps you to keep it succinct i think people try to do too much and then they
impair their barrier and then there it's like this like horrible cycle that they're in so i work
with a nurse because not everybody's the same so people ask me what are you doing and i'm like well let's
look at your skin right you're
your skin is different. So you can send in a color match and I'll help you pick your makeup,
but then also if you want, we can also look at your skin together. And then there I have like
my favorite products for different treatments, you know, because you don't need every acid under
the sun. They kind of all do the same thing. They're all a vehicle, but some are going to be better
serve for different skin conditions. And so we just kind of help you navigate it. I do believe
in being succinct and not, there's just too much out there. It's overwhelming. And I do think
women are doing too much when it comes to skincare. It's kind of like taking too much vitamin
C, you end up peeing the rest out. Yes. Your skin can only absorb so much. And so unless you're
doing it all day long every day, you don't need a 10-step routine. Less is more. A hundred percent.
Thank you for coming back on. Come back anytime. That was so much fun.
