Starting point is 00:00:33 A very smart cookie. And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you alone for the ride. Get ready for some major realness. Welcome to the skinny confidential, him and her. Everybody wants abs and everyone wants to feel great. So I'm just going to make this. And it's really turned into everything but that. It's turned into a lifestyle.
Starting point is 00:00:56 It's turned into people finding their best selves. I think that food, especially poor relationship with food, has nothing to do with the food. It has to do with yourself. Well, well, well, happy Thanksgiving. I hope you guys stuffed your face with turkey and cranberry sauce like I did yesterday. We are back with the skinny confidential him and her show. That clip was from our guest of the show today, Kenzie Burke.
Starting point is 00:01:29 I'm Lauren Everett's Bostic, and I am stuffed. I'm eight months pregnant and I'm stuffed like a fucking turkey from Thanksgiving. I'm feeling pretty good. Do you know what I'm thankful for? Having to do pickups on Thanksgiving. Everybody, welcome back to the show. My name is Michael Bostic. I'm a serial entrepreneur and brand builder.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Most recently, the CEO of the Dear Media Podcast Network. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. Thankful for a solid year on the books. What are you thankful for? I'm thankful for my wife, my beautiful hot wife with my beautiful baby that's coming into this world. and I'm thankful for me, guys. I want to thank me. I want to thank all the hard work I've done.
Starting point is 00:02:06 I want to thank this amazing life I've built for myself. I want to thank myself for my amazing choice and women. Okay, Michael. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. If you want to see a fucking funny clip, go and look at Snoop Dog thanking himself. I believe he has a new rap.
Starting point is 00:02:22 It's actually fucking amazing. It is hilarious. I would be lying if I didn't relate to it a little bit. I'm just thankful. Fuck, I'm thankful for myself, Lauren. I'm thankful. God damn it, I'm thankful. Anyways, guys, we're fired up, as you can tell.
Starting point is 00:02:33 We're thankful. We're just really thankful people. Okay, I want to talk about something that I feel like needs to be addressed, and maybe you can give your two cents on it. So I snapped on Instagram story that Kenzie was coming on the podcast, and I put up like story teasers like I always do with all the guests, and I got 90% amazing feedback. People were so excited she's coming on. They're excited for the collaboration.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And then, you know, you always get the 10%. and there's always 10%. And people had this really adverse reaction to the fact that she's big on food combining, which I get. I get that maybe it's not for everyone and that some people have a really, you know, nasty reaction to it. However, I just want to remind everyone out there, and I think this is a perfect time to do it, that the skinny confidential, him and her podcast, is a platform for a plethora and medley
Starting point is 00:03:29 of different opinions to come on. Just because we have someone on doesn't mean we have to agree with them 100%. Name a friend or a family member or your husband that you agree on everything 100%. I'm sorry if I only brought on guests to this podcast that I agreed with 100%.
Starting point is 00:03:47 That would be a fucking boring podcast. Yeah, well, it's a problem in this world right now in general that there's not a lot of room for gray area anymore. People, it's either right, wrong, left, right. There's no room. for conversation. There's so many people I know in my life where I could look at them and say, you know what, I don't really 100% agree with their opinion, but boy, that's an interesting perspective. I can understand why they think that way. Oh, I haven't thought about it that myself,
Starting point is 00:04:10 like myself. And I think it's really important to leave room to understand people's perspectives and to give people the ability to voice their opinion without judging them immediately. I've talked about it before. You're not doing yourself a favor by being so close-minded to new perspectives and conversations. You don't have to agree with everybody, but you don't have to have such a visceral, angry reaction. Just leave open space and try to go into every new conversation and when you meet new people with an open mind so that you can understand people a little bit better. And I just want to say, like, for the past 10 years with everyone I've brought on the blog, there's all different kinds of opinions. And I've said, take what you like, leave what you don't.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Again, if we had all these people on the podcast that we agreed with them 100%, it would not, stimulating. It's boring. I love hearing new ideas. I want to open my mind and expand my thoughts. And I actually found Kenzie's theory on food combining really interesting. I tried it for five days. I'm obviously pregnant, so I can't dive into it too much, but I did, you know, test it out and see if I liked it and how my body responded. And my digestion was on fleek the five days I did it. So again, no one's making blanket statements. This podcast is just medleys of opinions. So my advice is just be open-minded to what other people think or their theories because you never know. And for those of you that are going to be shocked by this statement, if you've listened to this show for a while and you think that I personally have agreed with all of the perspectives that have come onto this show and all of the opinions that have been voiced by guests on this show, then you haven't been paying attention.
Starting point is 00:05:40 You haven't listening. I do like to keep a place with Lauren where anyone can come on and voice their opinion and share their perspective. That doesn't mean that I agree with everything everyone's saying. I just have a platform for people to, you know, voice that opinion and speak their mind. And I think that that's what this country needs to get back to. And that's what we as people need to get back to is just leaving an open space for people to share their opinions. That's it. You take it, take what you like.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Leave what you don't. Like Lawrence said, you don't have to agree with everything, but you don't have to get so angry if you disagree. Personally, I love to hear all different kinds of opinions while simultaneously questioning the status quo. I think you can be really open-minded to other people. like I said, thoughts and theories, but also be questioning them at the same time. I try not to have a visceral reaction towards anything because I think that's really emotional and not logical. So there was some hate mail that I got over on this episode. And what I would say to that is you haven't even heard the episode yet.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Like, let's hear the episode. And then if you have a strong opinion about this, then maybe... And write it to Lauren, not to me. Anyways, I'm just kidding. Write it to At Tails you die. Yeah, write it to Taylor. He'll vet through it. Taylor, you're going to vet through that for us?
Starting point is 00:06:51 Let me guess your mic's not on. All right. So Kenzie Burke is an influencer. She also specializes in wellness and nutrition. And she's a practitioner of food combining. She's tested it on herself. And she gives us all the deets on it on this episode. So with that, let's welcome Kenzie to the Skinny Confidential, him and her podcast.
Starting point is 00:07:15 This is the Skinny Confidential, him and her. Okay. We have Kenzie in the studio. Welcome to the show. Thank you. I'm excited to have you in studio. Can you introduce yourself to our audience for anyone that doesn't know you? So I am Kenzie Burke.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I'm in the health and wellness space. I'm new to the Instagram influencing space. I have kind of developed an expertise in food combining, which is all about eating different foods at different times to optimize your digestion and conserve your energy. And I came out with a 21-day reset program last February, and it just really took off. It gained a lot of traction, and it's been healing so many people, helping them find their best bodies, and just bringing a new outlook on whole health to a young generation. Okay, so how do you get into food combining? Because this is super interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:12 We've never had anyone on the podcast that's talked about this. So food combining, just to break it down simply, is it can be very complex. but basically the rundown of it is different foods use different digestive juices to break down. So if you eat in a way to optimize your digestion, you are conserving some of your energy being used. That would be used to break down food. So the average human will eat 70 tons of food in his or her lifetime. So that's a lot of food that passes through our systems and that is a lot of energy being used to break down your food. we use a lot of food to, I mean a lot of energy to break down food.
Starting point is 00:08:50 So when you eat in a way where you're optimizing your digestion, you're conserving that energy and saving energy for your body to use it in other ways, like to build your skin's collagen, for energy and zest to repair your tissue cells, to help fight disease. So it's really all about conserving your energy. Loading is another big thing. I have a lot of people with PCOS and IBS who have been healed from this. And it kind of just goes back to food being medicine and using food to heal yourself and to nourish yourself.
Starting point is 00:09:23 It's kind of the breakdown of what the method is. So Taylor shouldn't be combining Hawaiian jalapeno chips with flaming hot Cheetos. I mean, I wouldn't eat either of those things if my life depended on it. He has extra on his fingertips. See, another big thing that I'm about is I'm about clean plant-based foods and no excuses. So I'm not, though food combining, you can, you know, combine your foods in a different way, no matter how you're eating. But I'm also really big on eating clean and eating plants and being the best version of yourself and not sugar-coding it. Like, I'm very just, don't eat shit.
Starting point is 00:10:03 I like that. Yeah. You know what? That's unapologetically yourself. I like that. I mean, because everybody, I think what I really noticed, especially in the health and wellness space, but also in the, the body space because I do target a younger audience who's trying to find the body they want to find. And so many people are looking for that handout, you know, and what can I do overnight?
Starting point is 00:10:23 And it's just not about that. I named my program 21 days to your best body because it's like 21 days to your lifestyle. I like that. Yeah. I need to try it after I'm pregnant. Yeah. No, we'll get you. Yeah, because I'm eating like these apple chips from the farmer's market that according to your program, I should be eating in the morning. Yeah, but that's okay. Okay. So listen, there's a lot to unpack here. There's a lot to unpack here, right? There's probably a lot of people sitting there with a notepad right now trying to figure out, okay, where do I start? So let's break it down and just like start with you individually.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Like what is a typical day in the life dietary meals throughout the day look like? Or let's just call it your diet. What's your eating routine throughout the day? So there's like three aspects of it. So fruits are digested in 20 to 30 minutes. They actually don't even sit in your stomach to digest. You eat fruit and it just passes right through you. It releases the energy it needs to release.
Starting point is 00:11:16 And then the other two things that I really stick out is proteins and starches. So proteins and starches use different digestive juices to break down in your system. So you ideally want to not combine protein and starches and you want to pick a starch and pair it with vegetables or you want to pick a protein and pair with vegetables. So a day for me is I wake up and I have lemon water and I have a big bowl of fruit. fruit. Another thing that I'm really big on is eating fruit until noon. What kind of fruit? Everything. So not just berries. No, no, no. I go for it. I'm really into papayas right now. I'll have, I mean, I eat, when I say I eat a lot of fruit, I eat a heaping amount of fruit. A little tip or I guess fact is that from 4 a.m. to 12 p.m. your body is in an elimination state.
Starting point is 00:12:07 So it's eliminating what it doesn't need from that time. And you kind of, it kind of makes sense if you notice a lot of people go to the bathroom in the morning. So the best thing that you could eat between 4 a.m. and 12 p.m. is fruit since fruit digests so fast and it goes right through your system and it's not sitting in your stomach. It doesn't affect the elimination cycle at all. So I'm very big on eating fruit until noon. I'm also very into exercising and working out and I like to have a lot of energy. So I wake up. I have a warm. warm cup of water with lemon and a little bit of ginger. And then I have a big bowl of fruit. And right now I've been doing, I'll do like a whole papaya, it's like a small papaya, but a whole papaya, raspberries, blueberries, banana. I'll put some coconut flakes on it, some soaked goji berries. And then I'll go work out. And after I work out, I'll have another big bowl of fruit. And that just kind of depends on what I'm in the mood for. So one pause before we get to the next part. Yes. For people that are listening saying, that's a lot of sugar.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Yeah, but it's not. Okay, so let's discuss it. Right. And trust me, I'm somebody that's completely uneducated in this space. So that's why I'm... You know what else is a lot of sugar? That shitty latte that you had this morning. There was no sugar in that.
Starting point is 00:13:18 You were confused about that. No, I wasn't confused about that. I swear there was not. Okay, well, fruit is like gift from the gods, right? We're supposed to eat fruit. It was given to us when we were first put on this earth. And it contains all the vitamins and nutrients that we actually need. It's so good for you.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And it gives you the right kind of energy, the kind of energy we need. It's just a matter of how you're eating your fruit. So fruit gets a bad rep because you'll have someone who will eat a salad with chicken for lunch and then they'll have melon for dessert. And that fruit has nowhere to pass in your system when it has the salad with chicken sitting in it. So what happens is it creates a reaction in your stomach and you'll get bloated, you'll get fatigue and people will then just blame it on the fruit. And the fruit, but it's not the fruit. It's how you ate the fruit. So if you're eating fruit in the right way, and I mean, I really got into this space through my own struggles and through my own struggles around food
Starting point is 00:14:14 and around my health and through having guilt around food. What do those struggles look like? I was just struggling to find the right way of eating for me. I think that I was, you know, new to L.A. and I was working in the styling industry and there's just a lot of comparison going on. There's a lot of things on social media, body image, and it was hard to find a way to eat without guilt and to find the body that I wanted to find. So when I switched my thinking the way I thought about food, you know, thought about it in a way as nourishment and oh, I'm eating my fruit and it's being digested and it's giving me energy, it really just changed my relationship with food as a whole and my body as a whole. You know who you remind me of?
Starting point is 00:14:58 Who? Like you guys have a lot of parallels. Melissa Wood Health. Yes. Do you know her? I know her. Okay. As you're speaking, like you guys have a similar journey. I do her workout sometimes. Okay. And she also is big. And now, and I forgot about this, because she's big on food combining as well. Yeah. She has the same philosophy kind of way of eating. Yeah, I definitely read some blog posts on her. I found about food combining from Harvey Diamond. And he wrote a book in the 1980s all on food combining. So he was in the Vietnam War and he got poisoned with the chemical agent oil.
Starting point is 00:15:31 orange, which if you get poison that, you're kind of fucked for life. And he was able to maintain his symptoms through food combining and through changing the way he ate because it was giving his body more energy to fight off that chemical. So he wrote a New York Times bestselling book called Fit for Life. And that's who I first found out about it from. And then when I started researching it, I found Melissa Wood Health and Dr. Mona. And when I started, it just changed my life. It completely changed my life. It can change, changed everything about me. And people would start to ask me, what was I eating? My body was changing. My abs are really defined. I started to feel really happy about my food choices. I started to eat more than anyone I knew. Especially, I
Starting point is 00:16:16 noticed it at dinners, like around friends. I was like, oh, I'm fully eating my plate and other people are picking. And it was kind of this aha moment where I thought, why does no one know about this? And there is this huge issue going on right now, which is young women especially are having a hard time forming a good relationship with their food and their body. And so that was that moment when I was like, this is my mission to change that health and wellness space and make it more about whole health versus calorie counting and weighing your food and restricting and looking at food as nourishment. Mona, Dr. Mona does that too. I misspoke. I said we've never had food. They both like food combining. Okay, so I want to go back to what you eat during a day because Michael, a lot of people are going to want to know this.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Okay, so you said you start with the hot water with lemon and gender and then you do a medley of fruit and then I work out. And so what time is this? Because people are, you know, like everyone wants to detail. So I wake up at six. I have lemon water probably like 6.15. I have fruit between 615 and 715. and then I work out at 8 a.m. every day. And what's the workout? I work out with my trainer. His name is Chase Weber. Is it like strength training?
Starting point is 00:17:35 Yes. Okay. Or sometimes cardio, but yeah, it's hard. It's very hard. But I love working out. That's like my passion. And so then I work out. And then I get home.
Starting point is 00:17:44 It's like 9.15, 9.30. I shower. So around 10, I have another big bowl of fruit or a smoothie or put like spirulina in my smoothie. I love spirulina. It's so good for energy. You can mix fruit with vegetables, but you cannot mix fruit with a protein powder. So if I have a smoothie... Fuck, I'm doing a smoothie every day.
Starting point is 00:18:02 It has protein in it. The protein takes three to four hours to digest. So I should just forget the protein. So fuck the protein. Fuck the protein. If you want protein, put spirulina in it, which is a natural plant-based protein. It's like all spirulina and then I add protein. You don't need the protein.
Starting point is 00:18:20 God damn it. Okay, so I'm going to do no protein in my smoothie. I have the same smoothie. Michael knows I order it off postmates every day and it's it's a bunch of fruit and vegetables and then I add protein but I don't need the protein you don't need it okay go ahead okay I mean that's a whole other conversation is why I don't think that people need to focus on protein oh you have to meet my friend Ingrid she agrees with you for lunch it depends on my mood but most days I have avocado toast for lunch I love avocado toast I'm
Starting point is 00:18:49 very big on carbs I love carbs what kind of bread food for life has this bread and it comes in a blue packet and it is sold out everywhere. I'm not going to say that I did this, but I did this. It was fully stocked and now it's sold out everywhere and it's a game on my Instagram. People will tag me in their post when they can find the bread. Food for Life, you got to sponsor her. Yes. Food for Life.
Starting point is 00:19:15 It's called the multi-seed bread. So I do that bread or I get a bread from the farmer's market. Okay. So I do avocado toast and they'll have a macho latte with the. avocado toast. And then I don't really snack. I'm big on eating whole real meals and not a snacker. So it depends, though. If I'm extra hungry that day, I'll have a salad after I've had avocado toast. And then dinner, I have a huge dinner. And it's usually some sort of vegetable and grain, like a vegetable stir fry and a rice and a quinoa or I'll make plant-based tacos. It really depends.
Starting point is 00:19:52 I'm very big on cooking. So no meat, no eggs? No meat, no eggs. What can you combine margaritas with? And wine. Drinks? I just say, let anyone do what they want with the drinks. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:07 I mean, you can. Just don't start before 11. Yes, don't start before 11. It can get very technical, but I just don't find it. It doesn't need to be technical at all. And so that's why I just, I say those three points, like fruit, protein, and starches and set your day up, eat light to heavy, and you're good to go. How old are you?
Starting point is 00:20:28 23. 23. Does your generation not drink as much as ours? I don't know. I actually just started drinking. Quick break to talk about some more health and wellness, specifically juve. Guys, we love the fucking juve. We do love the fucking juve.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Guys, enhanced sleep, reduced pain, reduced inflammation, increased libido. Increased libido, guys. if you heard the episode last week, I believe it was episode 2.30 with the team behind Juve, you heard all the amazing benefits of red light therapy. Guys, this product is a game changer. I use it every single day. Lauren use it all week long. Like she said, it's almost a dream product.
Starting point is 00:21:08 And let me tell you, he really does stand in front of this light every single morning, but naked there's red light coming out of his man cave. It is no joke. Personally, for me, I like to use the little one. And I use it in the kitchen when I'm cooking. the morning when I'm putting together my mint water. Whatever I'm doing, I just turn it on and it just feels so good. The juve minis, but I use the quad.
Starting point is 00:21:29 I use the full body. Guys, if you didn't hear that episode last week, let me tell you some of the benefits of red light therapy. Skin health and rejuvenation. Lowering inflammation. Sleep optimization, muscle recovery and joint pain relief. Cellular energy, like Lauren said, sexual performance. Think about it, guys.
Starting point is 00:21:45 We sit in these offices under artificial light all day long. We get no natural light. Red light therapy. gets us the light that we need. Our cells love it. Our body loves it. And honestly, like, it even helps you manage weight. Yeah, there has been lots of studies. We talked about it on last week's episode about weight management. It's good for so many things. And you can tell instantly when you use it how much better you feel. It's really rejuvenating. The juve is an investment product, but it is worth it. It stays in your house. Everyone can use it. And listen, Christmas is right
Starting point is 00:22:15 around the corner. So think of it as a gift. You get 60 days free trial. Go to juve.com. slash skinny. That's J-O-O-V-V-com slash skinny. Use the code Skinny to receive a free gift with your purchase. For those of you that don't want to buy it in one bang, they offer financing with zero percent APR. You can get payments as low as 30 to 50 bucks. This product is a game changer. We love it. If you want to learn more, check out the episode we did with the J-O-O-V-E-D-W-T team. Get into red light therapy. Get your red light district on. Get, you know, let it hang loose. Get in front of the light. Light me up. That's juve-J-O-O-V-V-com slash skinny. All right. Let's get back to Kenzie's episode. You did.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Jesus. Yeah. Their generation, I feel like your generation smokes weed more. Are we just fucked up at our age? Like month and a half because my work's so stressful.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Yeah. By Friday, I'm like, I'm a fucking margarita. This is not something that anyone should condone. You've never chugged a whole bottle of Captain Morgan's before? No, I mean,
Starting point is 00:23:10 in high school I drank, in high school I drink. And then one... Yeah, one day I got so sick and I just didn't drink. Anything I would drink, I would immediately throw up. So I was like, okay, I'm not going to drink.
Starting point is 00:23:23 And then recently, I just have needed to find the drink that I can keep down because by Friday I need a little something. Taylor wants to invite you over for Captain Morgan. Yeah, I would never drink Captain. I only drink Mezcal. Maybe the youth is smarter than us because I've gotten sick many times drinking, but it hasn't seemed to stop me or got me off the path. No, but it handicaps you the whole next day.
Starting point is 00:23:47 You're done. Well, I feel like you have to choose right. Well, see, this is where you've got to be a little bit tougher. So if I have that type of feeling in the morning, I got a little hair of the dog, I got to just keep it, I got to keep it going. That is so an entrepreneur. You had two beers last night and you complain. No, I have the hangovers of a 75-year-old man. I don't know what you're talking.
Starting point is 00:24:07 I don't have time for hangovers. Do you have any food recommendations for if you do have a hangover? That could be interesting. Coconut water is actually what I recommend. But before you go to bed, chug a bottle of coconut water. Electrolites, hydration, vitamins. So can you combine, you didn't mention healthy fats. You said, you said fruits alone in the morning.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Fruits alone in the morning. Before what time? I mean, you just, after you start eating solid foods, then you do not want to eat fruits after that. So I say go as long as you can in the morning. If that's 10 a.m. and you want to have avocado toast or oatmeal and you need something else, great. If that's noon, great. Just go as long as you can.
Starting point is 00:24:47 you just want to avoid eating fruit after you've eaten solid foods. Okay, all I've been craving my entire pregnancy is cereal with fruit on top. That's fine. You have what, three months left? Yeah, but like I got to break that habit in three months. Yeah, okay. It'll be fine. So then you eat your healthy fat, which is avocado.
Starting point is 00:25:07 Yep. With sour, or your toast, your sourdough, whatever toast you're eating. Fats combined really well together with starches. And then at night, it's more starches and protein. Starches and veggies. And veggies. But if you were to eat, and I personally don't, I'm plant-based, but if you were to eat protein, that would be a great time to do it, and you would pair it with vegetables. So instead of having chicken, rice, and vegetables, you should have chicken and a load of vegetables.
Starting point is 00:25:36 When I say, fill half or more of your plate with vegetables, because it really optimizes your digestion. That's a good tip for you, babe. Yeah. Like a really good tip for you. I can do that. Now when I hear the system, I was like, I could probably do this. Really? No, it's everyone thinks it's very complex and it's not and it's also a ripple effect. I always tell people who are getting into it. I'm like, just start your day with fruit. And then from there they kind of fish and they want a little bit more. And then when you get into it and you get used to it, it's just common sense.
Starting point is 00:26:07 You can feel it. You know, you can feel after you eat, you feel energized, you feel light, you feel happy. And when you combine your foods improperly, you can feel that. that rock and that sluggish feeling. Like, everybody wants more energy in life. There's not one person you can ask that's like, no, I don't want any more energy. So let me ask you this. Say someone's me and I'm not plant-based and I want to incorporate either eggs or protein meat into the day.
Starting point is 00:26:30 What are the stages of fruit in the morning? So fruit in the morning. Do you incorporate any protein in the day? I know at night, obviously two-thirds vegetables. No, like you could have fruit in the morning. And then if you wanted to have eggs, you could put, make a nice little bowl, like salad, put some balsamic on it, put some eggs on it. little avocado.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Yeah, just easy. Separate from the fruit. Yeah, separate from the fruit. Yeah, that's a lunchtime. You want to wait 30 minutes after you've eaten your fruit to eat other foods. So your Alfred's burrito this morning
Starting point is 00:26:57 wouldn't work. Wouldn't work. What is your controversy on protein? You mentioned that earlier. I mean, there's a lot of studies coming out now on protein and how, you know, that whole myth of how we all need protein,
Starting point is 00:27:11 especially if you work out a lot and you won't be able to build muscle. It's all kind of a myth. And I've been living that for three years. I work out and I have lots of muscle. And if I want to get my butt to grow, I can get it to grow. And it just is very taxing on the digestive system. It uses a lot of energy to break down.
Starting point is 00:27:30 So that's... I think it depends. What type of meat? For sure. For sure. You know, the reason, like, I... There's a lot of studies that support both sides. For sure.
Starting point is 00:27:39 But people go up in arms because I think what's doing harm to the entire, like when people start having these dietary conversations is because, you know, because they give blanket statements in an entire population. For sure. Meat is bad. Being a vegan is bad. Being plant-based bad. That is not helpful.
Starting point is 00:27:52 You have to really like individually look at your body and what works for you and then make a decision. A hundred percent and decide what works for you. And that's why I say just fill half or more your plate with vegetables and the other half pick your starch and your protein. And I usually everybody who does my program by the end of it has less animal protein naturally, not because they set out to do that, but just because they have a lot more energy. and zest and they don't feel the need for it.
Starting point is 00:28:18 And I'm not against animal protein, but I do get that. No, your approach is good because it's... I don't like to tell people exactly what to do because you can tell someone 18 times to do something and it's until they figure it out on their own that it's going to stick. So I just make suggestions and I let them figure it out on their own. I think that goes through anything. When I was a kid and I had all these entrepreneurial ideas,
Starting point is 00:28:42 my dad would be like, okay, you know, I could tell you do this, don't do that, but you're really not going to understand it until you get there. And I told Lauren this too, I'm like, as you start building a business, different things are going to come up and you may think you have an idea, but until you actually, I mean, this is any walk of life. It could be a business, could be family, could be children, could be diet. Until you actually go and experience it for yourself, your blanket statements aren't going to be helping. You actually have to navigate it individually. For sure. And then make a decision. For sure. What kind of transformations have you seen and you can get as micro as possible with this way of eating.
Starting point is 00:29:15 I mean, I've seen, you know, people who have had SIBO, who have been in, out of doctors for years with digestive issues, with stomach problems, they've come to me. I've seen, you know, someone who's lost her parents and gained 40 pounds drop it after a month. I've really seen all sorts of transformations. And I think that when I first started what I was doing, it was like, okay, I understand that everybody wants abs and everyone wants to feel great. So I'm just going to make this. And it's really turned into everything but that. It's turned into a lifestyle. It's turned into people finding their best selves. I think that food, especially poor relationship with food, has nothing to do
Starting point is 00:30:00 with the food. It has to do with yourself. And so though food combining and diet is the base. of my business and how I broke into the industry and it's really, you know, I share a lot of eating tips and it really helps people. It's turned into so much more than that and it's turned into lifestyle and mindset because if you feel good, it really changes so much around you and it changes your confidence levels. And my transformations have just really spoke to that. It just has been so beyond what you eat and beyond the health. It's really been a big mind transformation and my business and what I preach has really turned into food and mindset and being the best version of yourself. What is your opinion on intermittent fasting? I'm big on it. It's a requirement
Starting point is 00:30:49 in my 21 day reset to take a 12-hour eating break. Okay, so talk me through that because I'm a big fan of intermittent fasting. I'm obviously not doing it right now. Yeah. I mean, I think that it's great. I think 12 hours at a minimum, but it's good to give your body a break. I mean, I'm big on energy, right? So if you're eating, even if you're eating in a way that optimizes your digestion, your body's still using energy to break it down. So I just, I think it's great to give it a break. I think it also reduces inflammation. I really noticed that. I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme's disease when I was 14. So I really struggled with health issues for a very long time and lots of inflammation. And I really find that intermittent fasting helps that.
Starting point is 00:31:32 You know, if you look back in the way we've evolved as humans, all of this like intermittent and fast and obviously makes a lot of sense because we didn't have the luxury of just being able to go into the pantry and grab food whenever we wanted. It's like humans had to evolve to eat like this. And when you think, okay, fruit was if you woke up in the morning, that was a very easy thing to access and eat early in the morning. And the reason that all this stuff makes sense is I just think about how human nature and how humankind is evolved over time. And these are all very easy, natural things. Eat fruit in the morning, build up to protein in the evening after you've either caught it. killed it, whatever it makes sense. It's all like creates that path and then obviously you take a long break
Starting point is 00:32:06 until you can get your next meal. Yeah. I think we've gotten away from that. It's, it goes way, way, way, way back. This is how we ate. This is what I'm saying. This is exactly how we ate because you had fruit in the morning. You were mixing all this stuff together.
Starting point is 00:32:18 You weren't mixing a protein. If you had a starch, you were having that starch. If you found protein, you were having that protein. You weren't mixing it all together. And I mean, I get backlash sometimes and I get hate sometimes from people in the medical field and they tell me that what I'm preaching isn't scientifically proven. And my answer to that is you're right. But it's not, it's not a science. And that's why it works. It's common knowledge. It's common sense. It goes way back in the beginning. This is how we were supposed to eat. And it's
Starting point is 00:32:47 not some crazy science. And that's why it works. And that's why it's healing thousands of people. So what else you're getting up to up here? You move here. You're in L.A. You said you're never leaving. What's going on? What's the day-to-day life up here? Dating. Well, no, I'm not dating. What's everyone doing in the social scene these days? I don't even know what to do, where to go. I'm like, I'm out. Well, I'm very businessy. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:07 I'm very businessy. So I have my next venture, which is launching in January 2020, but I can't talk about it. Being very businessy, I'm the same way. And next thing, I look around and I don't even know where to go anymore. I don't know where the cool spots are. I'm kind of work obsessed. Yeah, but you and me both. Lauren too.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Now look at us. We're just like hermits. Yeah, but I don't know anything. People, like last night. Everyone asked me, what did you do last? I didn't even know it was fucking Halloween until I went outside and there as someone dressed up. Let's take a little detour and talk about my favorite candy. If you have not tried smart sweets, boy, you are missing out.
Starting point is 00:33:42 I'm not kidding you guys. They are these gummies that are filled with fiber. And they don't have any added sugar, no artificial colors, and no artificial flavors. My personal favorite is the Sour Blast Buddies, but they also have gummy bears, peatrings, and sweet fish. And like I said, no nasty-ass ingredients. So lower sugar, lots of fiber, lower calories. It's kind of like feeling good about candy and not feeling guilty for enjoying the candy that you like.
Starting point is 00:34:12 And it's all the nostalgic flavors that you just like miss from when you're a kid. Personally, I'm a big fan of bringing these in my purse when I go to movies. I've talked about this before. Anytime I go to the movie theater, I just stash these in my bag. And then I mix them in with the popcorn. This is so good when you're pregnant too. And it's like a salty, sweet infusion in your mouth. We are planning on having the founder too on the podcast soon.
Starting point is 00:34:36 She's a young female founder, which I love supporting. And she dropped out of college to innovate candy. And she's done that. She's 25 years old. So it's cool to support other female founders and kick your sugar habit, get some peatrings in, perhaps some sour blast buddies, and go to the movies. You know what I mean? Anyway, if it were up to me, I would.
Starting point is 00:34:58 definitely stock up on the petrings and the sourblast buddies. Like I said, and of course, we have a fun offer. You get to use code skinny for 15% off your order of $30 or more on smartsweets.com. I have used my own code. I even did a blog post on this, you guys. Skinny 15 for 15% off. And they ship to the continental USA and Canada. So stock up. Let me know what you think. All right. Let's get back into health and wellness. You're working. Well, I just want to say I said this too earlier. I said that you are a content creator that I always like to look for like people that
Starting point is 00:35:33 are on the pulse. So I'm always I'm always like watching and I don't like to consume too much content but I do like to watch what's happening. I don't like to consume too much content either. Because you get overwhelmed. Yeah. And it makes you think about your voice. I'm not going to go follow you know someone that is paleo
Starting point is 00:35:51 because that's just not the way that I eat but I'm all have conversations on the podcast but I'm not going to follow the all day, like every day, their Instagram story. Yeah. Because that's just, it's too much content. Yeah. But I've been watching like your Instagram feed.
Starting point is 00:36:06 I think I don't know how we found each other. Maybe just talking in DMs. And you are really doing it right. You're an example of someone that has tapped into this market and not use the excuse of oversaturation and you found your niche. And you're just, you're doing a really good job of being a millennial and entrepreneur. Can you sort of talk on how you got. into the entrepreneur space?
Starting point is 00:36:29 Yeah, I mean, it goes way back to when I was a child. I grew up in Wisconsin in a very small town and I just was so frustrated when I was growing up. I never fit in. I was in public school, private school, home school, every school, moved towns because I just was so frustrated. I always wanted to be older and I always wanted more. And I just always saw this great life for myself
Starting point is 00:36:55 outside of small town living. And I just had kind of a dream to make it. And so I moved here when I was 18 and I started pursuing all of these things because it was what I thought my end goal should look like. Like I started pursuing styling because I thought, okay, it'd be cool if I was like a celebrity stylist. That's a great image and I can run my own business. I've always had this strong, I've always known that I don't want to work for someone else. I would, you know, I was interning for styling in the styling industry and working seven days a week because I had to personal assist on the side. I was babysitting. I was waitressing because I had to pay my own bills. And I was just burning out and I was working for other people and I knew I don't want to work
Starting point is 00:37:39 for other people. And then I found my calling, which was the health and wellness space. And it was never anything I thought I was going to do. And it was, I kind of put my ego aside and realize this is what I meant to do. This isn't what. what I thought my image should be. But from there, I really started to find myself because I liked what I was talking about. I knew what I was talking about. It was exciting to me.
Starting point is 00:38:08 And I was always a very confidently insecure person. And when I, you know, made my 21-day reset, I had 4,000 followers. I mean, and I'm very new to this space. I really grew from March until now. so eight months. But I had this moment where I knew that I had to just let everything go and fully be myself if I wanted to make this work and I wanted to break into the industry.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Because I knew what I was talking about was quality. I knew the solution I found was very quality and life changing. But I also knew after working the style industry, you know, assisting other bloggers, assisting celebrities that is really hard to break in unless you, can break in. And I actually had this moment. It was from your podcast, actually, last year in January, you did an episode with Ed Milet. It's the best. He's going to do another one at the end of this year. That changed my life. He's my vibe. No, that changed my life. He changes a lot of lives. You know what? I think he's, I'm going to say this, he might be my number one favorite podcast guest.
Starting point is 00:39:15 That's a pretty strong statement. I love him. I love him. So I, I listened to that. And I had this moment where I just knew that I needed to stop looking at other people. I needed to drop any insecurities that I had and fully be myself and talk about what I wanted to talk about. I'm a very blunt person and I'm very opinionated and I know my shit, but in the past I would let insecurities get the best of me. And so I kind of just made this choice to drop it and go for it. I think that's really important. There's so many people that are doing that, right? They're letting those insecurities holding back and you're living example. Do you just drop that and move and go? But I wasn't happy.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Sure. You know, and that's the other thing. I was not happy as a child. I was not happy as a teenager. I was not happy when I moved to L.A. I mean, I was just not happy. And then it was when I fully dropped everything and started to be myself that I became extremely happy. I mean, obviously. But I also just, I, the people that I like the most are the people that are real. They're the people that say whatever they want to say. And they lead by example. And that, is who I was born to be. I was born naturally a leader. And I've always known that, but it was that little bit of insecurity. So I completely dropped it. And I mean, I'm still evolving and growing,
Starting point is 00:40:35 but every day I get more confident and I get louder. And as far as social media goes, I think that it's very hard to break in right now. But if you have something to offer and it's quality and it's you're giving your audience something, they can take that and do something with it. know, I think that there's so many accounts out there, they just show things, and I don't follow any of them anymore. I mean, so. You touched on it. You said it's, you say it's an obvious thing, which it is. It is. Being yourself and being authentic and doing what you actually want to do. And providing value. Yes. And so many people know that. And it is an obvious when you look at it. Like, yeah, of course that's working because she's being herself and it can't be duplicated. And she's living
Starting point is 00:41:13 exactly how she wants to live and being talking about the things she wants to talk about. But so many people can't do that. They're scared. They're hesitant. They're insecure. And so they think they need to serve content or act in a certain way that serves other people, maybe not themselves. And they see, oh, you know, there's Kenzie's formula. That's working for her. Maybe I can emulate that or that's Lauren's formula. It doesn't work. I see it all the time. It doesn't work. But that's okay. Yeah. It's just, but what's, what's a shame for that stuff is that it's not going to work for that person. So like anybody listening, I would encourage them to just do what you did and obviously just be who they are. And that's what resonates. Like Ed is who he is. Lauren is who she is.
Starting point is 00:41:47 you are who you are and that's the way it works it's such a simple formula just people can't do it because the insecurity holds them back and they think they need to emulate somebody else's for sure and that never works it is a split decision though that you make because i can remember when i first started creating content and i started i had a split decision where i was like wait a minute i'm literally going to lay everything on the table and if they if people don't fucking like me they can go follow a billion other people when you have that epiphany it's so liberating it's So freeing. I mean, that's been my entire year, is that I had that and I started to fully share my content. I, you know, I had lived with a roommate and I completely left in the middle of the lease.
Starting point is 00:42:28 I mean, she's still my great friend, but to move to Beverly Hills and the house that I wanted to live in, the house that felt creative for me, that I could create my content, I made extremely risky decisions with money, but it was just in so many ways because I just had this moment where I was like, I want to be who I want to be. That is a huge part of what I preach. That's a huge part of my business. And I'm just going to live it. And so, yeah, it's been very freeing.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Listen, when it comes to money, 23 years old, you could literally take the risk. You can make the riskiest moves for the next 10, 15 years and be fine. I mean, that's all I did in my youth. You can fuck up and lose. I wish you could tell yourself that at 23. Listen, all I did it at 23. All I do is take risky moves with money at that. And listen, before you have children and responsibilities and families and obligations,
Starting point is 00:43:14 like this is the time. If you're 20 years old to 30, like this is the time to completely fuck up. You can lose. You're going to learn so much. Money comes and goes, but you can't get time back. No, exactly.
Starting point is 00:43:25 And the problem is, is like what happens to people is they want to take these chances, but then later they have kids, they have obligations, they have family, they have bills, they have a mortgage. And then it's like, no, you can't do that, you can't be that irresponsible with money
Starting point is 00:43:36 because now you have obligation. But right now, worst case for you, you lose everything. You're still young. You can live the same way. No, you can bounce back. I mean, I've made it to hear. And I've had some hard fucking problems when I'm living in L.A.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Like it has not been easy. Like what? Give us an example. I've been broke so many times. Just, you know, those moments when you, I would pay rent and I would have $5 in my bank account and I'd be going through a light and get a flat tire, you know? And just like, I can't fucking even pay for the car, you know? And I would have like my younger 16-year-old brother, Venmo me $10.
Starting point is 00:44:11 But it was because I just saw this life for myself and I did not give up. I mean, there's so many moments when I could have just gone home. It's not until this year when I finally have friends because I'm actually living a life that aligns with me. So obviously now I'm meeting people that are supposed to be in my life. But before that, I didn't really have friends. It was lonely. And again, it was just, but I just pushed and I pushed and I pushed because I saw that
Starting point is 00:44:37 I knew that there's a life that I needed to live. It's super important that I wish this for every young person. I wish massive failures early in their career for them. I'm so happy for every single one. Because what's going to happen? And a lot of people are like, what? He wishes for failure. It's because you've got to learn how to take those gut punches early and struggle and struggle and struggle.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Because later, if you find success really early on and you think that's just the norm, and then you get taken down a peg and you don't know how to handle it and you have family and have obligations, you spiral out of control and you don't know how to come back from it. So it's like it's good to get this. callous and get beat up a little bit when you're young because it's just building your armor for later because as a young entrepreneur, you're going to start going into a lot of serious avenues and you're going to start doing a lot more things. And you're going to have to have that armor built up because it's tough. It's really fucking tough working for yourself and building a business.
Starting point is 00:45:25 I mean, this summer, this summer right when I was at the peak and I was gaining a lot of traction, I had this negative press go out. I was on Daily Mail. I was on Cosmopolitan about how my method is not backed by science. And it was so intense. to wake up to like 500 emails. And no matter what I said on social media, I was getting attacked. And it crushed me. It's crushed me because I had just rose in this space.
Starting point is 00:45:50 And now looking back on it, just four months later is the best thing that ever happened. It really humbled me. It really like pivoted my voice. It really made me realize why I was doing what I was doing. And yeah, so I'm very big on having a sense. You're always going to have haters. It's part of it.
Starting point is 00:46:05 For sure. Embrace it. Well, now I love it. Yeah. Now I'm like, okay. Yeah. Just let him hate all the people. No, I love it now.
Starting point is 00:46:14 I mean, four months ago I hated it. You're going to have setbacks. And there's going to be times in your career as an entrepreneur. This happens to everybody, every entrepreneur where you're going to think you're on top and you're going to just get smashed to the bottom. And that's what's going to differentiate you from other people. It's like, can you actually get back up and keep going? A lot of people can't.
Starting point is 00:46:31 And that's why I wish for early on failures because you learn like, okay, that's not so bad. Things that I used to think were big deals. Now it's like, that's a five minute mind. that thing. I fixed that in five minutes, something that took me years and years to fix when I was a kid. Now I'm like, okay, that's just another thing. You know what's interesting that you said that no one's talked a lot about on this podcast that resonates resonates. You, you said that you were lonely. And you said you were lonely in high school and college and not college, but you know, that kind of age. Yeah. Being a leader is lonely. It's so lonely. And no one talks about that because it sounds like,
Starting point is 00:47:07 it sounds like, oh, woe is me. But so many leaders have come on this podcast and said that it's lonely. It is. It's so lonely. Yes. I mean, it's lonely right now. I'm lonely right now. But because you sacrifice a lot.
Starting point is 00:47:22 It's like I haven't had a boyfriend since high school, mostly by choice, because I haven't, I've been grinding and I've been doing my thing and I've been trying to survive. And now that I'm surviving, I'm trying to grow. And it takes a lot. It consumes you. And I also have been very motivated to fully find myself and learn about myself. And you're like a leader. So you're not following anyone.
Starting point is 00:47:48 You have to constantly come up with new concepts, new ideas, speak from the soul, speak about your experiences, speak about your learning experiences. It takes a lot and you have to pour a lot out. And so, yeah, you're not worried about what so-and-so is doing on a Wednesday night. Yeah, I told you, 20 minutes ago, I told you that you're in some trouble because you got the entrepreneurial bug. And what that's going to do, it's going to isolate you in a lot of ways because it's going to, it's not relatable to the general population. It's very hard to find people to find friends. And it's in, and when things are going good, you can't.
Starting point is 00:48:22 I think that's a very important subject. It's really hard to find friends and to get past surface level though. And you can't talk, if things are on the surface look good, right? Like you got a big following. Your books are doing good. Everyone from the outside says, wow, she's crushing it. Everything's good, so everything must be great. So you can't go and complain.
Starting point is 00:48:38 Well, and everyone wants to be your friend. The more on the up and up you are, the more people come out of the crevices that I've noticed. And I'm like, where did you come from? Or people that were there before. I call them the dementors. You didn't even like notice me two years ago. And now you're trying to take me to dare. Those are the energy suckers.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Oh, I don't fuck with them. Oh, no. I don't fuck with them either. I want to talk about wellness a little bit. Morning routines, nighttime routines that don't have to do with food and drink. Right. Like for me, I'm just giving a couple of examples. Like a salt rock lamp, white noise machine.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Do you have any of those practices or habits that you do? Yes. I am very big on how you start your day and end your day because you can't really control sometimes what happens in the middle of the day. So I think it's really great to start your day strong and to end your day strong. Wellness in the morning, I don't look at my phone. I don't check Instagram or my emails, which is really hard to do.
Starting point is 00:49:31 But I try really hard to wake up and it's still kind of dark outside. and just keep the lights on low and not check my phone. And I just kind of do my routine in silence. And that, I mean, I wish I had a better morning routine, but my morning routine is really my workout. That's something that really grounds me and that I really get kind of a high off of. And it challenges me. And that's something I thrive and I look forward to every single day.
Starting point is 00:49:59 So that's my main morning routine is I have my workout and I don't really start my day. I don't work. I don't do anything until I've worked out. And then as far as night, I have tea every single night. I have like a cleansing liver detox tea. So I have my tea. Where do we get this tea? What kind of tea?
Starting point is 00:50:19 It's called Tulsi tea. And you can get it on Amazon. I can't find it in the store. You knew she was going to ask you that. Oh, it's so good. I swear it's why I can't have detox tea right now. Probably. Yeah, I would check with your doctor.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Yeah. But it's amazing. But I want the bread and the tea. And the tea really curbs bad cravings I've noticed. Okay, I'm going to get the tea. It's a tool C cleanse tea on Amazon. All right, I'm going to get that. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:50:43 So I have my tea and then I have my diffuser. At night is the same thing. I try to put my phone away, which I'm not that good at. It's really hard. But I try to put my phone away. I make my cup of tea. I do my skincare routine. I have a diffuser and I put sandal wood in it and I only use sandalwood.
Starting point is 00:51:03 I just love the smell and it's very calming. And I put it on. I have white noise and I put my white noise on and I go to sleep. And usually I go to sleep. Lately, I have not been able to go to sleep, but usually I do. Try calm magnesium. Yes. That works really well.
Starting point is 00:51:19 I need to go to air long. Or just get pregnant because that makes you go right to bed. That makes you go right to bed. I'm out like a second. I usually am a big sleeper, but lately I cannot fall asleep. Maybe you need blue light glasses. I just went to the eye doctor yesterday. Yeah, maybe it's like we're all staring at our phone all the time.
Starting point is 00:51:38 Yeah, all day. It's over stimulation. You know what I think you should do when this episode goes live? I think you should do like in tandem with the episode Instagram stories on walking someone through a whole day of what you eat. So because this podcast is audio. Yep. And for me, you said you eat a big bowl of fruit. Does that mean it's as big as Michael's head? Like is it?
Starting point is 00:51:59 No, it's really big. As big as my tits. Like how big are shocked? when they see how much fruit they eat in the morning. Can't be the big of those tits. You've got to get a bucket. Nothing can be as big as these tits. No, if you could like show us specifics.
Starting point is 00:52:10 And then you said like you drink a macha latte. Well, is it oat milk or almond milk and like is it unsweetened or are you making it at home? Like I feel like you need to walk the audience through so they can visually see. For sure. Because what you do is so visual. Yes. It's very visual. And it's, again, people think it's very overwhelming.
Starting point is 00:52:26 And it's just eating the foods you want to eat, eating clean foods and a matter of time. and how you eat it. Okay, I have a couple more questions. Beauty secret that you're obsessed with. Well, no one likes it, but it's how I eat. I had really bad skin. And when I started food combining and eating a lot of plants, my skin really, really, really changed and it became plump. Like, I used to notice wrinkles on my forehead and on my neck that I didn't like. And when I started to transform the way I ate within six months, I noticed my skin was glowy and it was plump.
Starting point is 00:53:05 And so I really think that beauty and fitness starts in the kitchen. But as far as skincare, I have this facial lady. Her name is Silvana and she's in Studio City and it's a hole in the wall and she's very Armenian and she's really crazy. But she makes her own skin care and it's like witchcraft. And it's very simple. It's like the foods I eat. Each product has like four ingredients in it.
Starting point is 00:53:28 Sparolina is one of them. and it changed my skin. That's all I use. I cannot put anything else on my skin. Even brands, they want to work with me and I'm like, I can't. I cannot put anything else on my skin. I got a tryer now. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Hole in the wall is the best for skin. Okay. Michael and I have a secret hole in the wall. If you put that hole in the wall out on this show, I will edit it out. I will edit it out. No, no, I won't. I'll tell you after. There are a few things I hold sacred.
Starting point is 00:53:55 This is one thing. We have, no, it's not a massage. We have a hole in the wall foot spa that we go. And I actually saw it on your story. I was like, I wonder if I'll be able to find that. It's a hole in the wall. I won't. I won't.
Starting point is 00:54:08 Okay, so we go and we work on our phones. Michael doesn't work. You usually just get it. No, I zone out. Okay, and it's like disgusting. Like, it is just, it's, I can't even explain it. Like, everything's dirty. But it doesn't matter because it's better than any five-star hotel massage ever.
Starting point is 00:54:26 I can't. Michael. And it's cheap. No, no, no, no. My worst nightmare is to be in there and have someone go, Michael? No one's ever in there because it's like, it's like dark and dingy and like. There's two places I won't let her share. One is a place I like to go for lunch all the time. I'm going to.
Starting point is 00:54:43 I'm going to share that place. So if you keep going there because I'm annoyed with it. That is divorce. We will not do that. Okay. Okay. Maybe. I will not.
Starting point is 00:54:49 No, it's actually the worst now that I'm in the influencer's face when I go to my spots and I hear people say my name. I look around. I'm like, No. You have to have a place that you zone out. One place. Just one place. Like a little spot you can go. You don't want to run into Helen from second grade. No. I wouldn't even tell my family where those places. If my family call me said, hey, man, I'm serious.
Starting point is 00:55:11 In our calendar, it's when I want him to come do it with me. We call it Peter's Toonail. Well, I don't know. You do it. Do you know what you're so annoying? You do that. Hold on. You do that. And you put it not in our calendar. You put it in the Dear Media Team calendar. My entire team's like, what are you doing? Yeah. Peter's To see it. I'm like, it's time to go to Peter's toenail. Anyways, this is older. If my mother called and said, yo, I'm in serious pain, can you tell me where to go? I'd be like, not that place. Not Peter's toenail.
Starting point is 00:55:34 So if someone wants to start this way of eating tomorrow, what are three tangible tips that you can give them that are super easy on where they can start, to not overwhelm them? Start with having fruit in the morning on an empty stomach, not mixing it with anything else. Be mindful of combining proteins and starches. together and so stay away from that stay away from combining them together okay so if you can just say just you know look at your meal and say i'm going to have a protein or a starch and i'm going to pair it with vegetables and then my third tip is just start making sure half or more of your plate is vegetables and then let it be a ripple effect those those are easier for you and those are small things that one
Starting point is 00:56:20 can make that will make a massive difference i my biggest thing i say to everybody is it's the smallest that lead to the biggest results. What about coffee? Does it matter when you combine coffee with anything? It doesn't matter. No. Or almond milk. No, I mean, if you want to get very technical, but milks are so watered down already. And I don't like to overwhelm.
Starting point is 00:56:40 It doesn't need to be super complex to feel and see the results. Okay, let's keep it at those three things. So, Taylor, don't combine your Hawaiian jalapeno chips with your... Or just stop eating them. With your banana candies that you're eating. Book podcast resource. that you would recommend to our audience that's brought in you a lot of value.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza. I just put that book in your room. Are we talking to him? Phenomenal. I just put that book in your room. I found him from Ed Milet. Okay. He was on Ed Milet.
Starting point is 00:57:12 I saw that. Is he coming on a show or something? Why did you put him? I mean, I'll read it. He sent us the book. But he, what I like about him is he was he, some people just like want to come on the show and pimp out their stuff.
Starting point is 00:57:25 For sure. He really wants you to. to read the book. Oh, that's why you put it in there. Yeah. He just really changed the way I thought. I've always been a very negative person and he really made me wake the fuck up and was like, you don't, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:57:40 I think that we all think that we're tied to the title that we've been given or we're tied to who we were last year and he really just says that's not so. I love stuff like that. It's like you're not addicted to your narrative. Yes. Edmy. It's very good with that too. And my, I mean, Ed Milet's really up there for me too.
Starting point is 00:57:56 Ed, can you tell we love you? Pimp yourself out. Where can everyone find you? Do you want to give a code for your ebook? You can tell me later if you want to do that. We could do a giveaway. Yeah, we can do a code. Okay.
Starting point is 00:58:08 We can do a code. My Instagram handle is at Kenzie Burke, and my website is Kenzie Burkehealth.com. Taylor, I would like to know as we wrap this episode up, what is a tangible takeaway that you have learned from this episode? Yes, I want to hear it. What are you been doing back there? He's learned all about your six-pack.
Starting point is 00:58:28 All of it, I'm thinking, I mean, as far as, I'm not, okay, I'll try not to eat the chips. It's going to be a tough one since I haven't had lunch. So I'm probably going to go off the deep end there. Okay. What have you been doing back there this whole time? Jacking off? What are you doing back there? This is very hard for me to absorb because you have to realize, like, I'm new to the health craze.
Starting point is 00:58:45 You're not that new. You actually listen to every one of these episodes. We've been, yeah, this is episode like 240. We have had so many people come on that you cannot say you're new. also a producer for other schools. I mean, I'm desensitized to it, is what I mean. Okay, so what's your tangible takeaway? You're not getting away from this, so you might as well just really think hard. What is one takeaway? I would say the vegetables, the protein and the fruit. What about it? Can you hear it? Taylor, please do the jeopardy music right now. You said don't mix it together
Starting point is 00:59:14 because of like the sugar. Say that again? Oh, man. I don't even think that we said that. What is that? Taylor, hold on. I actually want to hear what you took away. Say this again. It had to do with not mixing. the fruit in protein powder. And Lauren said, oh, I do that. You did not learn a single thing here today. I don't think you absorbed anything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:37 Ready? Taylor, what did you learn? I need to restructure my diet. How about that? Does that work? Well, ladies and gentlemen, folks, we have the answer. And the answer is that our producer is immoral. And don't follow Tails You Die on Instagram.
