Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a dear media production. She's a lifestyle blogger extraordinaire. Fantastic. And he's a serial entrepreneur. A very smart cookie. And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you along for the ride. Get ready for some major realness. Welcome to the skinny confidential, him and her.
Starting point is 00:00:22 I have been pulled out of maternity leave by my husband and the team. to tell my birth story. When I do like a Q&A, I think one of the most questions that I'm asked, especially when it comes to baby questions, is to share the birth story. So that's what this podcast is going to be. It's going to be all the nitty gritty and the fun, romantic stuff wrapped in one. And we'll kind of go through the entire experience and then where I'm at now. So we're going to talk about postpartum and what's that been like the third time around because it's definitely different than the first time around. The first time I had a baby, the postpartum experience was a lot. It was very challenging. I've talked about that in a lot of episodes. You can go back and listen. This time has been a
Starting point is 00:01:13 whole new world. Truly, it's been a totally different experience and I'm going to talk you through why I think it's been that way. Definitely becomes easier by your third baby. It's kind of like you feel like you've got this. So first, though, let's get into the birth story. Baby Bond. He is so cute. He is a dream boat. So he's 10 weeks now. And on June 11th, I came into my office. I did 6,000 conference calls and got my hair and nails and makeup done because I wanted to be prepared for the next day. And I went to bed early. I read my Kindle. I had my bags packed and we woke up the next morning and I went straight to the hospital. And Michael was his usual panicky Susan self. He is such a nut the morning I give birth for some reason. He gets so high strong. And if you don't believe me,
Starting point is 00:02:13 go watch the reel on my Instagram. He gets nervous and he like projects his nervousness onto me. So I really had to zip up. I literally woke up and did a Joe to Spenceza meditation. I think it like 5.30 in the morning because I knew that he was going to be nervous and projecting onto me. So I just imagined I was covered in a big hazmat suit, not a hazmat suit, but like a ball, like a ball of good energy. And he wasn't going to penetrate it. And again, I already knew that he would be nervous. So it was much easier to deal with as opposed the first time when I was like, what is going on? The first time I gave birth, he literally dragged me through the emergency room to get to the birthing center, which is totally unnecessary and just ups your cortisol. So this time,
Starting point is 00:02:59 he was a little bit more calm, but still panicked. So he was moving around the house, making sounds at 6 a.m. My kids are asleep. He's crashing around, trying to get my attention for us to leave. Finally, we get in the car. Keep in mind, there's like no real, real urgency. Like, we can be chill. We can be We got to the hospital. He had packed about 60 bags. He ordered shit on Amazon, you guys, that I don't even know where he got. He got like a sleeping bag. He had a special bag to carry the sleeping bag. He had his hair gel. He had old blue, his hairbrush that I've named. He had a silk pillowcase. His video games, like the thing that you like hold and play Nintendo with. He had chargers. He had his iPad. It was. so extravagant. It was as if he was going off to sea. And meanwhile, I brought the most minimal as I could because I know you really only use a couple of things. One of the things I definitely brought were those Freedom Mom icicle pads that you put on your vagina after you give birth. Sorry, Carson, but they're the best. I brought a lot of those. You like crack them. And when you crack the
Starting point is 00:04:14 pad, it turns freezing cold. It's really heaven. I'm really nervous about germs at the hospital so I didn't want to bring a bunch of my stuff. I just brought a couple of things and I definitely brought my Kindle so I could read and my iPad and those icicle pads for the vagina. I brought my ice roller and I brought a couple changes of clothes and I decided that I was not doing the hospital gown. I was going to wear comfortable pajamas. I wore Durf Avenue pajamas. They were so comfortable. I wore them in baby blue. And I also, and I would tell every mom to do this. I brought a barefoot dreams blanket so I could put it underneath me. And I brought two because obviously you give birth. So I brought that to put it underneath me. So I was really
Starting point is 00:05:00 comfortable. And then I brought another one for after I gave birth to lay it underneath me. So I had like a piece of my home. And I didn't have to lay on the hospital sheets, which I thought was great. Anyway, get to the hospital. Michael's panicked. He's running around. There's no one there. He can't find anyone. He's on the phone calling Katie who works with us at 6 a.m. Poor Katie. He's out of his mind. I'm just sitting there, calm. I've realized when people are panicked, you just have to be really, really, really low vibration or they go higher. So we get in, we check in. They check us into the room. And we started the process of labor. And Bond was measuring very big. So he needed to come out. He was big. And I was chill. I was fine. I actually, I know this is weird. I tell all my friends this. I love the
Starting point is 00:05:54 birth part. I actually love every second of it. I feel like you've done the work. You're getting to the end of the line. And it's a relief to be able to have the baby come out and hold the baby in your hands. It's like, you did it. You got a long way ahead, but you still did it. And so I'm very excited about the birth part. I also feel like it's like there's something really liberating and cathartic. I just love giving birth. To be honest, I would actually rather give birth like any day of the week than get an IV needle. Like that's how much I like giving birth. So I was excited about it. I got the epidural. I got a lot of questions on that. I've had an epidural with all three of my kids. I said this on Jackie's podcast, The Toast. I am like crunchy non-talkie. I am like crunchy non-talkie.
Starting point is 00:06:44 it clean in a lot of ways, but it's really balanced for me. Like, you know, I do Botox. I wear makeup with chemicals in it. I do an epidural. I like a tequila soda. So I think the epidural part for me is, yes, of course, I wouldn't go into surgery without anesthesia. And so for me, this is like, I don't know, it's a lot of pain. So I feel like it makes it easier. But also, I just feel like I'm more relaxed with the epidural. I wanted the baby to come. come out very calmly and I think the epidural helps the process. So I got the epidural, which is a lot. It's a very, very long needle. If you haven't seen it, go Google it. You'll pass out. It's a very long needle. It's very thick. You have to hold very still. They have to put this shit on your back. It smells.
Starting point is 00:07:34 I'm allergic to the tape that they put on. So we had to use a different tape. And it's just like a process. So once you get the epidural, you're good. Like I was chill. I was fine. I had incredible nurses. Shout out to Olivia and Alexis. They were honestly the best energy. They were so sweet and so helpful and just like balanced and in alignment. And that was really nice. And I turned on, I think, the Valley, Real Housewives and just sort of relaxed.
Starting point is 00:08:08 It was like no kids. I didn't have my toddlers. I was just chilling. And then all of a sudden, probably five hours in, I started to feel horrible debilitating pain. But the pain comes in contractions. And if you've had a baby, you know this. So it'll come on so strong. And then it will stop and release.
Starting point is 00:08:34 And when you have an epidural, it's usually not that bad. At least that's been my experience in the past. well, come to find out the epidural was not working in my stomach area. So it was working in, like, my legs felt numb, my vagina felt numb, but my stomach area was like it just stopped working in the stomach. So I was feeling every single contraction, which if you've had a natural birth, good for fucking you. That is a lot of work. That it hurts. Like, women are powerful to be able to deal with those contractions, without an epidural is not a joke. And I was like, I was, I was sweating. Okay. And it's not like a sweat. It's like a deep sweat. It's like a pain, pain, pain. The only pain that I've ever been in that's worse than that is when my appendix burst. Okay. That was really bad. Meanwhile, Michael is thinking that I should get another epidural. Like I guess they can fix the placement. And he is trying to sort of like help me manage my pain.
Starting point is 00:09:45 I think Michael and I are sort of codependent in that way. Like he's trying to help me manage my pain. I also did not end up getting another epidural. I just really used my Wim Hof breathing and my meditation to get me through the other side. I dissociated, basically. And all I want him to do is to shut up. and bring me a smoothie and massage my scalp. Like, I don't, that's, that's literally all I want him to do, but he is incapable of doing that.
Starting point is 00:10:19 And he was, it's cute and it's sweet. He was trying to be helpful. But as any woman knows when you're in labor, the last thing you want is your husband to say anything. Like, everything they say can and will be held against them. You're probably going to take whatever they say in and misinterpret it. And that's what I was doing. So anything he said was just, it was just a lot. So anyways, contractions were happening for probably a couple hours.
Starting point is 00:10:50 My doctor was amazing if you're in Austin, Texas. Dr. Amanda Halley is truly incredible. She delivered towns and now she's delivered Bond. And I've had such a good experience with her because she's able to take my whole list of concerns or edits or. anything that I wanted at the birth and work with me to make the experience be just amazing. So I would recommend her if you're in Austin, Dr. Amanda Halley. I absolutely love her. And she's collaborative.
Starting point is 00:11:25 And I think that's so important when you're giving birth or when you have a doctor or if you have a pediatrician. I like someone who's collaborative with me and can talk it out and tell me the pros and cons. I find it to be very helpful rather than someone who's, projecting their own opinions onto me or judging me. And what I like about her is she talks through everything with me. So it became time to push. And when I push, my strategy is to do one crazy push and get the baby out. And I've had that strategy with all three of my kids and it's worked really well. So I'm like ready to push when it's time to push. So before the one,
Starting point is 00:12:10 hard push. I got all the candles in the room lit. I wanted no lights. I hate overhead lighting. Like, I can't stand it. So I wanted dim lights. I had frequencies playing and the frequencies that I had were from the soak app. There's actually one for anxiety and I used that throughout the whole process and it was amazing. Frequencies really changed the mood in the atmosphere. I'm very much about five senses. As you guys know, so the frequencies were important. and I basically made Michael hang like Christmas lights. I mean, I wanted to give him stuff to do. It wasn't like, this isn't like the Nintendo show where you get to sit back and put your
Starting point is 00:12:51 legs up and play Nintendo. I needed him to be like working. So we had the lights. We had the vibes with the soak app frequencies. And we just really made the room feel very, very chill. I also opted out of having interns in the room or medical students. I just wanted like the least amount of people as possible. And I had a birth plan for what I wanted to happen when the baby got here.
Starting point is 00:13:18 So I had very specific ideas when it came to the cord clamping and I didn't want the baby to have a bath after. And I had a certain blanket that I wanted him to be in and I had a certain beanie that I brought from home. I just tried to edit the parts that I could, but I also didn't want to have an attachment to those edits. So, for instance, if things didn't happen exactly how I wanted, I wanted to be able to just, like, be fluid and pivot. I didn't want to be so attached to the outcome, but I did have things that were important to me. And I had a very, very specific list for that. And like, a lot of people have asked me about my list for this. And I think that I don't want to give advice on it because I feel like you have to go out and, like, talk to people and do your own research and see what's best for you and your family. in your kid, it's too personal and situational for me to give you my list. I think this is the list
Starting point is 00:14:15 that I had for when the baby was here is, is like my own thing. Does that make sense? Anyway, so we're at the push. The vibes are set. The atmosphere is there. Michael is up by my head. Don't even fucking think about it. I don't want a peripheral on the vagina. You are behind me. like behind. And if he even moved an inch, I'd be like, get away. I don't, it's, I just don't want someone up my butthole literally when something's coming out of me. Like, I'm good. That's, it's, it's already, we got the, the nurse, the doctor. It's already like too much. I don't need him also, like, with popcorn and tickets to the show, like behind me. So he was behind me. The doctor says to push. I push as hard as I can. It feels.
Starting point is 00:15:04 feels, and I've said this before, but it really does. It feels like there's a bowling ball on your butthole and it's coming out and you got to push that bowling ball out. So we pushed, the baby came out. I feel like I, it was five minutes. It was so quick, you guys. But like I said, it's my third baby. So things are different in every single one. You know, your first one's probably the hardest. So you push the baby out. I wanted the baby immediately doing skin to skin. he comes on my chest. That's my favorite part because they feel they feel like slippery
Starting point is 00:15:40 slugs. But it feels like so good. It feels like, you know what it feels like? It feels like a dolphin. You know how a dolphin is like smooth? I don't know how dolphins feel.
Starting point is 00:15:54 But you can imagine it. It's like a dolphin. And we wanted to do delayed cord clamping. So we let the cord pump. Carson's like, what are you talking about? And then Michael cut it when it was time. And my doctor just made everything so seamless. She's like a little ninja when she delivers. It's so quick and the cleanup. And like she just immediately gives you space with the baby, which is so nice. Another thing was I wanted
Starting point is 00:16:25 the pickline IV out of my hand right away. She helped me get that out so I could just really be present with the baby. And I ended up holding him, I want to say, for like an hour. And then I let Michael sit there and do skin to skin and he loved that. And I was on that Postmates app right away ordering pizza, this Italian pizza in Austin. It's so good. It's thin crust. It has pepperonies and a bottle of Bernou. Let's talk about Wineab. One of my favorite partners of this show. We have had the founder of Wine Ab on this podcast. I highly suggest you check out that episode. While all this is happening and I'm loving hanging out with my brand new baby, I also am figuring out how to get rid of the placenta because I have a whole thing with the placenta. So when you give birth to a baby, if you haven't given birth, you birth, you birth the baby and then you think you're done. Well, no, you're not done. You have to give birth to the placenta. Giving birth to the placenta is like imagine your stomach has a balloon in it and you give birth and it's complete relief immediately. So you give birth to the placenta and a lot of people throw the placenta away. Well, I wanted to make pills out of my placenta.
Starting point is 00:23:43 So I called my friend Dr. Amir, NYC, Gyno, and I talked to him and he's like, Lauren, not only are we going to make pills with your placenta, we are going to do exosomes. and I cannot explain this because it's too, it's just out of my depths. So I'm having him on the podcast to explain exactly what we did because it's really interesting and it's anti-aging and it's amazing what you can do with placentas. So we got the placenta and we put it in a cooler. We literally ordered a cooler off Amazon. And then we took the placenta downstairs to be air freighted somewhere. we have to ask Dr. Amir to get the exosomes and the pills. And there's so many benefits to eating
Starting point is 00:24:31 your placenta. I'm going to chat GPT it real quick for you. Hold on. Increased energy levels, hormone rebalancing, reduced postpartum depression, improved lactation. Okay, so you can cook it, you can encapsulate it, and you can make it into tinctures and exosomes. So what I did is I did the Exosome thing. I'm going to talk about that on an episode with Dr. Amir. And I also had it made into pills. It's really controversial, but, you know, it's worked for me. I've done it with all three babies. And I like it. And it makes sense to me. So the placenta was handled. We did the cord blood registry. That was the whole thing. I think they take, I want to say they take blood from the cord of the baby. and they send it off and there's something that you can do with stem cells. Again, you have to go
Starting point is 00:25:28 do your own research on this. This is just some little things that Michael and I did. And then my pizza came and I was so happy because you can't really eat while you're in labor. I was eating yum yum lollipops basically the entire day. So you're hungry. And it's like you just ran a marathon. You're hungry. You're thirsty. I also had smoothies while I was having labor. So I wasn't like dying, but I was hungry. And I sat in that bed with the baby. And it was just very peaceful. We got to eat the pizza. We got to have a little wine. We got to relax. And it was just a very special night. So every time I've had a baby, the night that I go to sleep in the hospital, it's always been very calm. With Michael and the baby, it's just like a nice bonding experience. And as you know,
Starting point is 00:26:21 you're usually up probably like every hour. I decided to go the breastfeeding route. So I was doing the whole claustrum situation and breastfeeding the baby. Their stomachs are so little when they're born. I think they're the size of a marble. So you're waking up, you're feeding the baby, but it's pretty calm. And I ended up only staying in the hospital one night, which was really nice. We stayed the next day. And then we were out of there. I mean, we have two kids at home. And like, I wanted to get back them. And by the third baby, you kind of, you kind of got things handled. You know what to do. Those padcicles are fucking amazing. I'm the granny panties that you want that you wear the whole thing. The day though, I did wake up after giving birth. Josie rushing. She came to the hospital and she gave
Starting point is 00:27:08 me lymphatic drainage and then Michael got in on it too, which it's like unbelievable. him imagine him in his brand new sleeping bag playing his Nintendo with a slice of two-day-old pizza getting his lymphatic drainage must be nice so yeah it was a positive experience baby Bond was so cute the day he was born he was absolutely adorable and it's a special memory and for me it's also nice to come on a mic and relive it because he'll be able to listen one day and my other two kids can listen to. So we brought him home and now I'm going to kind of go into what it's been like the past couple weeks and how this postpartum recovery has been so much better than the first recovery. When I got home from the hospital, we introduced Bond immediately to my son. He was
Starting point is 00:28:05 awake. He was waiting. It was super cute. He gave him a kiss. And then my daughter met the baby the next day. How it's been is my daughter, Zaza, is obsessed with the baby. She's holding him. She's helping me. She's so involved. She's so into it. She was not like that at all with her little brother towns. And that's because she was too little. So now she's gotten older. She's five years old. So she's super hands on. She always wants to hold the baby now, which is great. My son, it took him a while. He kind of was like a poodle. He's very aloof. He was kind of ignoring it. he could tell that this was someone taking time from his mom and he was suspicious. And I also think it's hard when they're the same gender. So he kind of was like, he was waiting to come around.
Starting point is 00:28:53 And now he's kind of come around and we've really tried to make him feel like the big brother. So that's kind of the kid's situation. I do have a night nurse. It's been amazing. I've had a night nurse with all three of my kids. It's literally, I can't, it's amazing. Like I value. I value, my sleep so much and I'm also working. Yes, I had maternity leave, but my maternity leave, I'm also working from my phone. So there's a lot of things that have to keep the ship moving. So being able to have a night nurse and being able to sleep and then breastfeeding during the day and having the two kids and also having to still keep things moving at work, it's really helpful because I can sort of think straight. The night nurse that we got is absolutely.
Starting point is 00:29:40 absolutely incredible. And she also helped streamline the breastfeeding process. So in the middle of the night, she would bring the baby to me. And we have like red light in our room. So it was, it was really helpful for her to come and be able to see and I could see what I was doing. And we just sort of gotten to a routine. It's been great. What else? Okay. So what I'm doing with my recovery, the second that I was cleared for Cold Plunge sauna, I did it. A lot of people, say that cold isn't the best after you have a baby. For me and my personality, it has been amazing when paired with sauna postpartum. I cannot tell you how it has helped me. It's enhanced my mood. I feel like it's even my hormones out. I feel clarity. I feel like energized. I feel all
Starting point is 00:30:33 these things that I didn't feel when I didn't have access to cold plunge sauna, my first postpartum experience. This is something that I think everyone's different. You have to go see some people sauna for 30 minutes. Some people sauna for 10. Some people just sauna. Some people just do cold. For me, when I pair the sauna with the cold plunge, and I started after I was cleared by my doctor, three weeks after, it's been amazing. It's people say things about milk supply. For me, it hasn't affected my milk supply. I just can't say enough good things. It's really helped me to not. It's have baby blues. Sure, I've had baby blues like moments. You have moments where you feel almost like you feel dissociated, you feel maybe you're having intrusive thoughts, things you wouldn't normally think.
Starting point is 00:31:22 And the cold plunge sauna has helped get rid of those quickly, which is awesome. Because with the first baby, I didn't have access to that. I was just doing cold showers. And it was a different experience. I also moved my body very quickly with this baby. Like I was walking, I was moving, I was moving. I think when I sit and I get stagnant, I don't know, my lymph gets stagnant, I get stagnant, I start to get like a little blue. I need to like move and I need to have a routine when I move. So moving with something that I started very quickly. I think everyone's got to talk to their own doctor. The cold pung and sauna that I have been using is sun home saunas. You can look them up on Instagram. And some of the benefits postpartum are stress relief, nervous system reset, circulation and lymphatic support, hormonal balance, muscle and joint recovery, mild detoxification.
Starting point is 00:32:22 It also, what I notice with the cold is it reduces inflammation. So if you feel so inflamed when you give birth. And I've just noticed that it helps so much. with that. I also noticed my mood, my dopamine, an energy burst. It really takes away postpartum fatigue fog. And that's what I can tell you it's done the most. You have to be thoughtful with how you do it. You can't go super hard, right? You have to really think about the way you do it. I was doing 20 minutes in the sauna before I got pregnant. And then I was doing three minute cold plunge, 20 minutes sauna, three minute cold plunge, 20 minute cold plunge, 20 minute cold plunge. I obviously didn't that far when I'm postpartum. I was much more light. I would take the skinny confidential dry brush
Starting point is 00:33:11 and I would dry brush my skin so I'd get everything moving and then I would get in the sauna for like 15 minutes, maybe 20. And then I would do like a minute and a half cold plunge. And just that helped me really reset. And if you're looking for a sauna, you should definitely check out at Sun Home Sanas. I also just got a cold plunge for my dad. He's obsessed with it. They're chic. They're beautiful. I think it is the best investment that anyone can make in their health. If you're like, oh my gosh, I don't want to spend the money, a cold shower does work. It shocks your system. It's incredible. And for a sauna, I know that there's a lot of like gyms and establishments. Like we have like Kuya here in Austin where you can go and you can do a cold plunge sauna. So if you have not tried it, it's a lot. really, really helped me, and I just want to spread the word. Another thing I did that has really helped postpartum was belly binding. I worked with a company that I've worked with with all three pregnancies, and it's called belly bind. Princess is amazing. She flew out from L.A. And basically what she did is she gives you this incredible massage. You can have the baby on your chest while she gives you the
Starting point is 00:34:26 massage, which is so grounding. And newborns are so grounding. And newborns are so grounding. And, Then she will wrap your stomach in this beautiful silk against, it's like very earthy. And she will make like a corset around your stomach. And I leave mine on for like five to six to seven days. And if you ask me how I shower, you'll just have to imagine it. It's a whole to do. But it holds you in. And it supports your posture and it supports you during breastfeeding. And it's really helpful to help the uterus sort of go back into place. And it sounds almost like it's constricting, but I would tell you it's the opposite of constricting. It feels very much like it's helping your body heal. So look into that. It's on my blog. It's bellybind. If you search bellybine will put the link, the skinny confidential.
Starting point is 00:35:22 You can see everything about it. And that really, really helped the inflammation in my stomach go down. And so what I've been doing since I took that off is I'm using the Bump suit times Lauren Bostic support compression wear. You can find it on Bump suit. We'll also leave that link for you with a code. And I like the black one. I got a small. So right now I'm not a small. Like I'm probably a medium or a large, but I wanted a small to really support me. So I kind of have to like wiggle into it. I have 30 pounds that I'm losing right now. So, you know, I'm not like one of those people that just like bounces back. Like I, I am committed and I am in it postpartum. I'm definitely someone who it takes probably a year and a half to get back to where I want to be. But one of the things that I do that really helps is that compression wear. And I wear it when I go to the gym. I wear it under like a long sleeve black shirt and I'll wear some comfortable pants over it. And it just tightened your waist in and hold your posture up. It's very helpful. When you're breastfeeding, were like hunched forward.
Starting point is 00:36:31 And I think it helps you just stand up straight and it reminds your back of where it should be. And I find it to be really helpful. I know that the Bump suit times Lauren Bostic compression wear band has sold out multiple times. So you have to go grab one. I would size down. That would be my recommendation. Quick break to talk about policy genius. Let's be real.
Starting point is 00:36:57 You're juggling a career, kids, self-care and spreadsheets. But here's something most people overlook. Nearly half of American adults say they would suffer financial hardship within six months without their primary income earner. That's not just stressful, it's preventable. Life insurance might sound boring, but trust me, it's a powerful part of your financial wellness plan, and policy genius makes it chic, simple, and totally on your terms. I recently did a whole episode about financial security and freedom, and in that episode, I talk about the importance of life insurance. Again, that's policygenious.com All right, let's talk about formula. So Bobby, it's not just another formula, it's a movement. This is a really, really cool company.
Starting point is 00:38:36 It's the world's first USDA organic whole milk infant formula. And it's manufactured right here in the United States. So I had the opportunity of interviewing the founder of Bobby. And that industry is just wild. You really have to do your research. Bobby is Clean Label certified and it's trusted by 500,000 parents nationwide. I personally think that when you are picking a formula, it's important to look into it. This formula has had three years of research. It has had testing, retesting, and it's led by a mom who really, really cares. So if you're looking for a brand
Starting point is 00:39:19 that's by a mom who wanted something better for her babies and yours, you've got to check this out. Their ingredients meet the strictest organic standards in the world. Everyone is talking about this company too behind the scenes. Like I hear, I hear about it from everyone. I personally like that their manufacturing facility is in Ohio. You know where it's coming from. And it's really a premium recipe. If you're looking for a formula, you have to check out, Bobby. They really support the whole feeding journey. They even have DHA to support brain development. which is crucial in the first year of life. And they gave you a code exclusively for him and her listeners.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Bobby is offering an additional 10% off on your purchase with Code Skinny. Visit highbobby.com for more details. That's hibobbibio.com. Let's take a quick break to talk about symbiotica. We love symbiotica so much. We love the people at symbiotica. But most importantly, we love the products that symbiotica has to offer. There are so many that we take now that.
Starting point is 00:40:24 it's hard to recommend just one. We've had the founders of Symbiotica on this podcast five or six times. There's some of our greatest recurring guests. And that is because we love the mission, we love the company, and we love what they're putting out there. And like I said, they have such a strong assortment of products, but some of the standout favorites that we take all the time, I think they make the best liposomal glutathion out there. Quick note on liposomal supplements. What I love about these kind of supplements is you eat them like food instead of just ingesting them in pill form. Here are some of the benefits that you can expect from the glutathione. Glowing skin, anti-aging properties, gut health, which can support bloating and digestion, and faster nutrient absorption.
Starting point is 00:41:01 It also tastes great. One of my other favorites is their magnesium L3. Many of us don't have nearly enough magnesium in our diets. Some of those key benefits are it's going to enhance focus, reduce brain fog, balance mood. It's going to calm you, help support stress management, help support restful sleep. We all need better, more restful sleep. I like to take it at night and in the morning. Sometimes I like to put it in my coffee and strut around.
Starting point is 00:41:22 It adds like a nice little sweetener with those great benefits. And taking Symbiotica supplements is one of the easiest ways I found to stay consistent with my goals, even during a busy summer. Of course, we have an offer. All you have to do is go to symbiotica.com slash TSC today to get 20% off plus free shipping. That's C-Y-M-B-I-O-T-I-A.com slash T-S-C to get 20% off plus free shipping. How is my skin? you know what this sunscreen it's caffeinated it's mineral and it does not pile under makeup i applied it today with a damp beauty blender before i got my glam done and it lays so nicely under like a
Starting point is 00:42:03 foundation or a concealer but here's the thing that i like the most about it so when i'm off work and when I don't have to do podcasts or Instagrams or content, or I just can just be comfortable, I can wear this caffeinated sunscreen and I still get a really nice tint and a protection. And it looks like my skin is all one even tone, which is nice without all the makeup. It's not like a foundation. It's like the caffeine tightens your skin. It gives you a nice even tone. and it just gives you a little bit of color.
Starting point is 00:42:41 So what I like about this sunscreen is the versatility. So you can wear it when you're off and you're running around and you're running errands and wear it with nothing over it. Or you can wear it like I'm wearing today right now with foundation and concealer over it. So it works both ways. I will wear this when I'm going to the gym in the morning and just wear it throughout the day with nothing else. Or I will wear it with a full look.
Starting point is 00:43:05 I created the sunscreen because I couldn't find a mineral-based sunscreen. with caffeine in it. Caffeine tightens the skin. It shrinks the pores and I just like how it lays on the skin and I mixed it with a mineral sunscreen and then we made it SPF 40. So it's a real treat. I think that you guys will absolutely love it. It just comes out in a pump, fits in your handbag, and it can go through the airport. You can shop this at shopskinic confidential.com and it's the caffeinated SPF. Also, if you're like me and you go through sunscreen quickly, you can subscribe. And the sunscreen will get delivered straight to your door so you don't have to worry about it. That's shop, skinny confidential.com.
Starting point is 00:43:49 And then as far as other products I'm using, I'm using the skinny confidential mint roller for breastfeeding. So your nipples get so sore. It's honestly insane after you give birth that there's like a new kind of pain. It reminds me of like a swipe, like a mission. an impossible swipe. It's like, okay, you gave birth. Okay, now there's nipple pain. And the nipple pain is real painful. And the ice on the nipples feels so good. And what you can do if you really want to get in there is you can take the skinny confidential's facial massager and you can sculpt your face because things for me were puffy. I don't know about you, but postpartum, it's puffy. And then you can
Starting point is 00:44:31 sort of like drain your neck to get your lymphatic system going, which is great for milk supply. you can breastfeed and then afterwards you can use that mint roller on your sore nipples. And I am telling you when I say I cannot live without that mint roller, it is so important for me to have the cool on the nipples. And I've tried every single brand on the planet that has like gel pads and all that stuff. It doesn't stay cold long enough. That's why I like our ice rollers. They stay cold. Like I don't have time every, you know, 10 minutes to put the ice pack back in the freezer. With our ice roller and our mint roller, it stays cold. So I would bring the mint roller wherever I went and I would just cool down my nipples and it was absolutely amazing. Also, you've got to get silverettes. Silverettes are these little
Starting point is 00:45:22 tiny silver covers that you put on your nipples after you breastfeed. And what silver does is it heals. So that's why whenever I have any kind of sickness, I'll do silver spray in my mouth. It's the same vibration with the silhourettes. So you breastfeed, your nipples are sore, you ice roll them, make them cool, and then you put the silverette nipple covers over. And the silver heals your skin. And I think they're like $30 and it's some of the best $30 that I've spent. And Emily, maybe we can link that in the show notes for every single person because anyone who's breast feeding needs that. Lots of red light going on in my house. You know this. We have red light in all the rooms to wind everyone down. What's been most surprising to me postpartum is having two kids while you have a
Starting point is 00:46:13 baby is super interesting. So I like romanticized myself in the house, you know, rocking my baby to bed like Lady in the Tramp. I romanticized it. I tend to do that a lot. Like I have this like Disney version in my head with two kids that are home from school for the whole summer, and it's six million degrees out. And you have to be a clown and a juggler and a cook and an entertainer and a Broadway star. And also, you need to play and you need to do toys, but you need to clean up. There's six million things moms have to do. It's a lot when you have a newborn, because you want to like indulge in the newborn, but you also don't want to take away time from your kids. So it's a lot of like finessing and juggling and being an octopus.
Starting point is 00:47:04 So after going through this experience and having a newborn with toddlers in the house all summer, I have a saying at my house. And it's the saying and everyone says it is mommy's not an octopus. And my kids know the saying and I'm going to make a banner about it because you really do have to be an octopus. So that's just a little tangent. So red lights to wind down. And then we also have the red light bed, which has been really helpful for recovery as well.
Starting point is 00:47:32 I think you can get like a little panel too off Amazon. And the benefits are really amazing. I think for hormone balancing. That's what I've noticed the most. And I'll lay in that before the baby wakes up and before my kids wake up for 30 minutes. This morning I did it. I do it all the time. I just, this is like really, okay, we're really going off.
Starting point is 00:47:55 I talk to chat, GPT. like it was my therapist. And I told Chat GBT, GBT, every single roadblock I have in my morning and how I can be efficient with my time. And it rode out, I am not joking, I will post it on my Instagram story, a whole morning routine for me to get everything done. But also, there's no pressure in the routine. So meaning like if I don't hit something like it's fine and it created blocks between the things so I have space to move and so I don't feel stressed. But it really helped me have clarity of my mornings. And so one of the things that I've been doing with three kids is I'm waking up 30 minutes before them. I'm going downstairs. I'm laying on the red bed and I'm meditating
Starting point is 00:48:41 and I do that before they wake up and it's been great. The red light bed that I like the best is the light stem. Again, you don't need the bed. The panel's amazing. I use the panel my entire pregnancy. Obviously check with your doctor, but I did use the panel my entire pregnancy, and it's great. I love the bed. I love all their products. We can use code Lauren. You get 10% off. Supplements have been the usual ritual, fatty 15 symbiotica. I'm doing the elderberry every day. Elderberry is like really something I'm into right now. It's an antiviral. And I really, really like it. I put it in my beauty salt. So I'll take the skinny confidential beauty salt. I'll froth it up. and then I'll add symbiotica's elderberry packet into the beauty salt and I'll froth all that up.
Starting point is 00:49:30 It is delicious. Okay. I'm telling you, go try the beauty salt, froth it up with a frother, add symbiotica's elderberry. Sometimes I even, if I get a wild hair, add symbiotica's vitamin C and I froth that up with ice. It is a way to start the day. Okay. It's like a cocktail. It's like puckering without without the alcohol.
Starting point is 00:49:54 Okay, diapers wipes. I'm using coterie. That is the most non-toxic brand in my opinion. And wipes is something you do have to think about because you're using them all day long to wipe the hands, the butt, the this, the that, the face. So wipes are important to me. I go through coterie wipes. I love them. I love their diapers too. And now it's time for me to lose the weight. People can sit here and they can say, oh my God, give yourself a break. Like, you know, you just had a baby. And I am giving myself a break, but I'm also holding myself accountable. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. For a living, I am filming. And listen, I have been pregnant for many, many months in the last five years. And when you're pregnant, at least for me, I felt, you know, you don't feel the
Starting point is 00:50:52 hottest. And so I'm in this era where I want to feel my hottest and I want to get the ball going. Do you know what I mean? I'm not waiting for anything. I'm ready to like feel the best that I can feel. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I think like you again have to tap into what works for you. Some people are not going to do workout or think about it for six months. And that's great. For me, I am ready to get my body back, feel good, you know, do cardio, weights. Like, I'm ready for all of it. I'm booking my P-Volve sessions. I'm ready to just like feel back into my body. I think that it's time for me. So I am on a serious protocol for feeling my best. And that includes like everything from supplements. Like I love a raise bloat, their tone, creatine. I love key on amino acids. I love. I. I love key on amino acids.
Starting point is 00:51:52 heavy lifting. I'm going to do medium lifting. I'm doing cardio. I am walking. I am moving. I am making it a point on my calendar to have my wellness. And listen, you know, the truth is I'm running a business with probably 20 employees and I have a podcast that is very important to us and we want to make sure we give you guys the best content in the world with the best guest. And I now have three kids and a husband. And there's a lot of balls to juggle. And I lay my head down on the pillow. And sometimes I feel like I've done it really well with working out. And sometimes I feel like I've done it really well with work. And sometimes I feel like I've been a great mother. But to have all three at once all the time, it's a lot. Listen, it's a lot. There's a lot going on. There's sacrifices. I just have to make sure that I
Starting point is 00:52:46 prioritize what's important to me. And one of the things that is important to me is feeling and looking my best. So that's sort of my next chapter. And that's what you're going to hear me talking about a lot on the show is just how I'm evolving in this postpartum journey. Because I'm, I'm ready to wear really, really short shorts. Anyway, that is my raw, real, candid birth story with all the things that I'm doing postpartum. I am happy to do like a Q&A on this subject. If you guys are interested, just let me know on Instagram. You can DM me. Ask your specific questions. I love them. On that note, all of the information from this episode is in the show notes. And we will see you on Monday. And then I've used that brow peptide like every single day. So the brow peptide is a must if you want to grow your brows. So you guys can use code baby for 20% off at shop skinnyconfidential.com.
