Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a dear media production. She's a lifestyle blogger extraordinaire. Fantastic. And he's a serial entrepreneur. A very smart cookie. And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you along for the ride. Get ready for some major realness. Welcome to the skinny confidential, him and her.
Starting point is 00:00:22 You guys loved her first episode. So Miranda Curr is back. You may recognize her as a world. renowned supermodel, an entrepreneur, a wellness trailblazer, and as a mom of four, she's really done it all. She's also the founder of Cora Organics, which she gave you guys a code at the end, so don't sleep on that code. And she really goes there in this episode. We sort of like throw it all to the wall. We talk about all the weird wellness trends, beauty secrets, things that she's interested in, how she thinks about parenting, routines, running her company, her and her husband's relationship.
Starting point is 00:01:04 It's all in this episode. I enjoy having Miranda on the show personally. I think she's so lovely. Miranda, welcome back to the Him and Her show. This is the skinny confidential, him and her. We were talking off air about the Guasha hairbrush. Oh, yeah. The fact that you have one is kind of amazing. So Michael came to me and he goes, I need to grow my hair. And I said, gouache our hairbrush. Tell us about it. I just love the way it feels. Like, I'm such a sensorial person and just, like, feeling like it on my scalp. It's like massaging. Don't you feel the same? I push, I like get in there. Yes, so do I. I like, I like it to hurt a little bit. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:01:43 I like that too. It does. Same with my massage. Like, I believe the massage is the key I feel to like health and wellness. Like face massage, back massage, head massage. You've come to the show. Oh yeah. Massage everywhere. Everywhere. It's the key to youth. It is. Yes. Circulation. Agreed. Anything that stimulates and promotes circulation. Like the guasha and like the guasha, you know, face sculptor. I actually have one of those, Akora. And then obviously your ice roller love. Anything that moves it. Taylor's getting a little excited about the circulation conversation with you. Sit down, Taylor. Sit down, Taylor. There's so many notes that I have to talk about. Because one thing I love about you is that I get called woo-woo all the time. But I feel like you're on my
Starting point is 00:02:32 woo. Welcome to the club. You're the president. I am. I'm the CEO. So let me ask you a couple questions to just set the tone. What are you drinking right now? Oh, so I'm drinking water, but this is like a hydrogen water bottle. So you press this here and then it turns on and then it creates hydrogen and the water that's supposedly very beneficial for your health. So I'm very much into health and wellness. So I like the simple things obviously like going outside, putting your feet in the grass, watching the sunrise, but I'm also very drawn to health and tech devices. And so this goes for five minutes. Then after five minutes, you drink it and then it really promotes like health. Are you drinking this on an empty stomach in the morning?
Starting point is 00:03:24 Yes, but I'm also drinking it throughout the day. Okay, I'm going to get one. They have the baths too, you know, like the big hydrogen baths. I do not have one of those. And you can get in and it does it puts the hydrant, it does it all over your skin. See, because you know why what you put on your skin soaks in. That's why I created certified organic skincare line. Which, by the way, second time on the show, everyone's got to go back.
Starting point is 00:03:48 First time you came on and crushed it. Thank you. People did really liked it. If you haven't heard it, you got to go back or watched it, go back and check it out. We had a great time. We did have great time. And time flies. Now you have more babies.
Starting point is 00:03:58 I have more babies. You're four boys. Whoa. Wild. Four boys. Is that like you don't know anything different? I don't. What are the age ranges?
Starting point is 00:04:10 The baby's one and a half. Okay. And then after that I have a six-year-old. He just turned six. Okay. A seven-year-old. And a 14-year-old. So I have a teenager and a basically toddler.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Oh, wow. You're like really, what does your teenage son's friends say when you arrive to pick them up to school? I get along with them great. I'm sure you do. No problem there. I'm like, welcome. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:37 I'm like, I'm literally like everyone should come over, come over to our house. They're already there. Everyone's welcome. There's always like girls and guys, always welcome. You know, they have fun. They watch a movie. I make sure they have all the right food.
Starting point is 00:04:52 And is there like biodynamic snacks? Yeah. And Flynn's like, Mom, enough with that. And I'm like, what? And then his friends are like, no, no, stay. And Flynn's like, Mom, you can leave now. And then they're like, no, I just hang out for a little bit more. I'm like, okay.
Starting point is 00:05:08 I'm happy that I'm still like. More hydrogen water, please. Yeah, more hydrogen water. So what are the snacks that you're feeding the kids? Like I feel like they're going to be very specific. Well, Flynn is very specific. That's my teenager. So he wants anything.
Starting point is 00:05:25 He's like going against what I'm into at the moment, like health and wellness. So he wants to rebel. So I'm like, oh, I've made, you know, this beautiful meal for everyone. He's like, I just want to order food. And I'm like, okay, like that's fine. Sometimes I'll push it and be like, no, you're eating the food that I've just made. Or sometimes I'm like, okay, let's just, this is part of being a teenager. He wants to rebel.
Starting point is 00:05:50 And the more I push against it, the more. the more he'll push back against me. So maybe I'll be like, okay, half the time he'll end up eating both. What are you making? Anything from like chicken, fish, beef, veggies, soups, hot chocolate. I feel like the way you make hot chocolate, though, is different. Let's hear it. What's Miranda's hot chocolate?
Starting point is 00:06:12 Coconut milk. Okay. Like fresh made coconut milk. From like a tree outside. No, actually, I do get it from my one. with a little maple syrup, cacao, and that's it.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Just to make it with love. And Flynn actually grew up with me cooking a lot. And so he actually knows how to cook. And so more often than not, if he has people sleep over, he'll want to, like, make breakfast with his friends
Starting point is 00:06:38 or, like, that night, he'll be like, let's bake something, and he'll do that as, like, a fun activity. He's quite good in the kitchen. So I really believe that teaching kids
Starting point is 00:06:49 practical skills is so important. Like cooking, you know, I don't know, just the basic things like taking care of themselves, making their bed, doing the basic, you know, being able to wash and wash the clothes and take care of themselves. All the things to make them functioning humans. Functioning humans. And actually growing up, I learned how to do woodwork at school. Woodwork. Woodwork. That's not on my bingo card. What do you, like, what do you mean? You're chopping wood? Yeah, I was using like, so it's like you learn, I learn how to make like a knife block. And so you learn how to like carve wood and then like use the tools to like put it together and then use, you know, I was very proud of that because my dad's a builder. So I was like, look dad, look what I've built, you know.
Starting point is 00:07:36 But just simple things I think that are not necessarily taught in schools these days need to come back. When you think about the way you grew up, which again, you covered on the first. episode compared to how your kids grew up? What are the values or the skill sets that you want to kind of like thread through for them? Because obviously they're going to grow up differently than you. That was my hydrogen. That's a hydrogen. It's time to drink that. It's time to drink the water. So I would say like for me I grew up learning how to cook. So I've wanted to incorporate and teach my kids the same. The importance of learning how to cook and feed yourself and with healthy, delicious meals. So it doesn't need to be, it can be nutritious and delicious.
Starting point is 00:08:15 in my opinion. You can have food that is like even cookies or cake and it doesn't necessarily need to be as unhealthy. Like you can have healthy swaps and alternatives. I also think it's important to learn how to garden, right? And I learned that as a kid and teaching my kids that. I also think it's important as well to focus more on like being able to play outside and not just need to. minimal screen time is really important. Because you were outdoors a lot. I was outdoors a lot and I didn't even want any screen time. And guess what?
Starting point is 00:08:53 Never in my life have I ever been bored. Like I don't feel I've ever been bored and I can say that with my hand on my heart. And I grew up in a little country town where we were just kind of outside most of the time. My grandparents had a farm and we're outside. We were climbing trees. We were, you know, riding horses.
Starting point is 00:09:14 We were riding little Pee-W-50 motorbikes and having our own fun. And I don't know. And I feel like my grandma was there to supervise, but we were left to our own to have that freedom. And I think that's really important for children to feel that freedom. And so we do have a house in Australia now. And the kids is their favorite place to go. I'm telling you, Michael, my best friends from Australia,
Starting point is 00:09:42 and she just moved there. and she said, Lauren, it is like, she said it's a lot like San Diego-esque kind of. So she's living in Sydney? She's from there. Then she moved here. And recently she just moved her and her family back there. The only thing I can't do, and I got to ask you about this, she told me that when she falls asleep sometimes, that a spider that is as big as her head, crawls on her face. And she said she picked it up and threw it across the room like a cat.
Starting point is 00:10:12 And there was a thump. Is that a true one? I've never had that experience of a crawling on my face. However, when I was a young, like, I think I was like a teenager. I remember my dad saying that he, like, something happened. And I vaguely remember him talking the next day about it to us saying that he got up because he heard a noise or something and he saw this huge spider that was like crawling down the hallway. And I need to remind, like remember and talk to him about what exactly.
Starting point is 00:10:43 happened next, but I just remember him saying there was this huge spider. That's the only time I've ever heard of it. I've personally never seen one myself that big. But that is, that's crazy. I wouldn't freak out about that. She said there, she's seen them like, five. Spiders are like big rats over there. Okay. So you're, you didn't like see them all the time. No, and I grew up like in the bush in Australia. Okay, that makes me, we saw quite a lot of snakes. Okay, but the spider thing, I can't do the spider thing. Yeah. But that makes me feel better that you didn't see them. Yeah. When you first got on the podcast, you gave me this peppermint thing. What was that for? Oh, that was a mint. It's like a peppermint beadlet and it's just fresh essential oils. So I love essential oils. I love them for like internally,
Starting point is 00:11:28 also externally. So in core organics products, we don't use any synthetic fragrance, obviously. We only use essential oils. And it's for their sensorial benefits, but also for their skin benefits. For instance, like with all of our tumourate collection, it is involved in there. It's in there because it helps control the semen production. Go back to the essential oils. Like what, what are you using? I know they're in your products, but how are you using them throughout the day? Yes. To support whatever you're doing. So peppermint essential oil, as I gave to you in the little beadlet is great, obviously, to freshen your breath, but also it's like energetically uplifting. And so I also put a couple of drops in my hand. I have this other peppermint halo it's called. And I put it on the back of my neck. It helps with
Starting point is 00:12:15 neck tension and headaches. And it also helps with your energy. You can put a little in the palms of your hand and then just take three deep breaths. Just with peppermint. Just with peppermint essential life. Oh, I saw you putting something on your neck. Yeah. It's what you're, it's peppermint halo and you're putting it on your neck. Do you want to pass it to me? It's over there. You know what? I think the next core organic products is, can we get some peppermints that we can Oh yeah, there's pepperment halo if you want to put some on your head. And you put this on your neck. I put that on my neck.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Even if I don't have a headache, I feel like just like with carrying all the babies and running around, it just feels really uplifting and invigorating. It is. I think you need this next time you have a headache. Okay, I want to talk about all of. She might be the source of the headache. So it's like, you know. Talk about all the weird wellness things that you do. throughout the week. Like, give us, let it rip. Well, I mean, there are so many things that I,
Starting point is 00:13:16 I just love to try an experiment when it comes to health and wellness. And as I was saying, like when it comes to tech, I've tried so many different things like health and tech. Like the neurovisor, which is like a light that you put over your eyes, it helps reset your circadian rhythm and helps with sleep. I found that actually really beneficial. How? And do you, You wear it right before you go to sleep? Yep. The neurovisor. Neurovisor.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Okay. True Vega, which is a vagus nerve stimulation device, and I like it because you use a spray instead of a gel. Because there's other ones out there. So when you put the thing on the neck, there's no gel, it's just a spray? It's a spray and then you just hold the device. And explain to the audience what it does to your vagus nerve. So apparently your vagus nerve. really helps, like if your vagus nerve is like, I don't really know the science behind it,
Starting point is 00:14:16 but I think that if your vagus nerve is like at the optimal, if you stimulate it and it is at the optimal frequency, then you feel more calm. So it helps with stress. And I feel like in this day and age with, you know, having children, having a business, trying to fit it all in, it's really important to have tools that help support your health and wellness. So you can then be the best version of yourself. And this thing takes 60 seconds. It's like a 60 second little zap that you do to your Vegas nerve that helps biohack your vagus nerve so that then you relax more.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Actually, Michael, you really need to get this. So there's one that you don't know I use. It's called the Apollo, I think. Oh, I've heard about this. Is that in the ear? No, you wear it on your wrist. I don't have it on me now, or your ankle, and you could do it when you sleep, and it vibrates against the vaguest nerves all night. While you sleep.
Starting point is 00:15:13 And it senses when you're like kind of waking up and helps you go back to sleep. Okay, I need to try this. And it should, if you do it right, it should increase your HRV score. My HIV has been really low, and I have an aura ring. And so I'm trying to work on my HIV just so that then I can feel better and more energized and be a better mom. and I think that doing these type of things, I mean, I guess it all helps a little bit. This is really weird what I'm about to say,
Starting point is 00:15:44 but I feel like I can say it to you and you'll get it. I think when it comes to a lot of things that people call woo-woo, you have to be open to it for it to work on some of it. And that sounds- But there is a lot of science behind a lot of these things. Yes, but so many people will just shut it down before they even hear the science. and so they can't even get to the part where they try it and it makes them feel better.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Yes. Do you know what I mean? I feel like you're someone who's very open. Yes. And that's what I'm trying to get at. Have you always been that like that? Have you always been open-minded to trying different things and being open to sort of seeing where it takes you? I feel like curiosity is so important and being curious.
Starting point is 00:16:27 And you see that with our children, right? They're always curious and wanting to learn and explore. And I want to have that curiosity until the day I die. Great. And so part of feeding that curiosity with my passion, my passion is in health and wellness. And what can I do to be a better version of myself today than I was yesterday? How can I show up as a better mother, a better boss, a better partner and better friend? Like, how can I be better today than I was yesterday?
Starting point is 00:17:00 And I feel like if you're open to learning, there's so much out there to learn. to learn and explore in this world. However, sometimes I must say information can be overwhelming itself. Yeah. And I've gotten to that point multiple times in my life where I'm like, that's a lot to be like kind of thinking of. Like, let's just go back to the basics.
Starting point is 00:17:23 And that's when I'll go back to the basics of meditation that I've been practicing since I'm 18. And I'm 42. And literally going back to 20 minutes meditating in the morning and in the afternoon if you get time but I try to just say at least once a day focusing on my breath because I do Vedic meditation and doing my mantra and then getting early morning sunrise really important for the circadian rhythm and for health benefits and going outside being in nature when you can putting your feet in the grass those are
Starting point is 00:18:01 the simple things you can take it back to. I think you said that earlier too. You said like going back to the basics and in what you said about massage, the facial massage. Everyone, you know, wants to put all the creams and everything in, which is great, but also the massage with the creams or just the massage with like a great oil. Yes. I think that is like the key to fighting wrinkles. I agree. I think sometimes people get overwhelmed, like a lot of people that maybe shy or shy away from the basics and they think like one of these tools we're talking about is going to solve all the things. But I think you have to be doing the basics and then use the tools as enhancements. Yes, that is exactly right. The tools are enhancements and for me they're a little bit of fun and I'm just, I'm just as I said,
Starting point is 00:18:41 curious and want to learn more. But at the end of the day, if you're not doing the basic things like eating right and having a little practice of mindfulness that resonates with you, getting some exercise in, getting the morning sun, you know, a lot of these things won't be as effective. And massage, as I said, circulation. Even the simple things like dry body brushing, I really believe in, as I know you do too. I love dry brushing. Yeah. We both love it.
Starting point is 00:19:09 And you know, we also share a mutual body worker, Dennis. Oh, I love Dennis. He's, I don't even know how to explain. Yeah. He's an angel that was put on earth. He is an angel. Like he has a touch that is so incredible. He told me, I said, how did you know you had this?
Starting point is 00:19:28 He told me. he and Dennis correct me if I'm wrong that he delivered a baby deer I didn't know that and ask him about this next time and he delivered the baby deer and he did it naturally or something yeah and he knew that there was like an intuition when he was young but he but I he's not massage
Starting point is 00:19:47 he's like osteopath okay yeah I didn't know exactly what he I'm pretty sure he's an osteopat yeah he's at peak wellness but he's the best he's amazing yeah yeah because you know why it's about the alignment of the spine. And that's what Dennis is about, the alignment of the spine. And if your spine is aligned and then you're getting that circulation, right? When your spine is aligned, you're getting that circulation to your brain and you're feeling that energy flow. That's what so many of these practices are about is circulation and energy flow. If you're making me want to go see him this trip.
Starting point is 00:20:22 I know I want to see him too. I haven't seen him in so long. I was texting him the other day, but I think who was in Palm Springs. He's so busy. Yes. Okay, so I want to know how the fuck you look so good after four kids. You've got to give us some secrets. Thank you for saying that. That's very nice of you. Thank you. Look, I think we can all be so judgmental and our hardest, like the hardest critics towards ourselves. So thank you for saying that to me because it's nice to hear and it's lovely to hear coming from another woman and now I'll get teary. Thank you. But no, it's just, You look, I mean, jeez, inspiring. It's, you know, I do believe in taking care of yourself, but I still am not back to what I was pre-baby, pre-last baby.
Starting point is 00:21:06 And I've had him a year and a half ago. But I think being gentle and kind with yourself is really important. As I said to you before we even started, it's like not being so hard on yourself. Like, you've just had a baby. Your baby is four months old. My baby is a year and a half. And I think that, you know, the hormones, play a lot with this and I think that like I think it takes about two years to get back to your
Starting point is 00:21:31 baseline after having a baby. That's what I've been told and I feel like I'm only just getting my footing again now after a year and a half. So please be gentle with yourself. I'm trying. Yeah, it's it's it's hard when you have to appear as you know like on camera yeah on camera and like the jeans don't fit the same way. Oh I know when you when you when you your bones are not even going to be coming back to yet. I know. I'm the type of person that's like, I give birth and I'm like, did I lose life? Yes. Don't worry. That is normal. I'm like, hurry up. Yeah. Chop, chop. Come on. I got to get back to it. When you, after when, because you've done it four times after you give birth, do you have something that you do that's like sort of a North Star? Like, are you eating soups or are you doing meat? Are you doing
Starting point is 00:22:19 your celery juice that you, like what are the things that you're doing post birth that you think have helped? So something that I found really useful was doing Abayunga massage, and it's like oil massage. So you're, it's very calming for the nervous system. And I do it now still. I did it this morning with the nonyglow body oil. I need to give you some of that because really amazing. And it's just like, and then you just massage it into your joints, like all your joints and like really lathering the oil. But you do it yourself, not with a masseuse. Well, you can get treatments and what I did after each child, I actually, after the last three, so not with flanks because I didn't know about it, but after the last three, I actually invested in having someone come over and do that oil massage on me. And it was so wonderful. Like here in LA, they have a place called Suria Spa where they do the mother baby treatments. And it is very nurturing for you as a mother to invest in that. And I've actually given it. to a few of my friends that have had babies because it really helps the nervous system. Like you're, as you know, you're up through the middle of every two hours, breastfeeding. It's very depleting when you have a child. So this is a way to kind of nourish yourself a little bit and give back to yourself.
Starting point is 00:23:43 And it's a moment for yourself. And they do say those first 30 days are really important to kind of make sure you give yourself that time. and that kind of care. And so every time when I had my children, I made sure that I pulled in my support network, including my mother, who would come and take care of me. And honestly, maybe people won't like this,
Starting point is 00:24:10 but I didn't like to rely on my husband. I like to rely on the feminine support during that time because it felt to me like they actually understood what I was going through. They understood the hormonal kind of process. that I was going through. And it felt more comforting and reassuring to me to have that care from my mother and, you know, a little support network of my friends that have had babies and could relate and understand
Starting point is 00:24:36 what I was going through. That was really important for me. That is so weird that you say that. I've never been able to articulate that. I feel the same way. No offense, Michael. I mean, listen, we really don't understand what's going on. It's so unbelievable to me how they are so clueling.
Starting point is 00:24:53 that it's almost like just leave for 30 days and I'll see it. Go take a vacation. It's so frustrating. But in our defense, how would we know? But it is, but it is good because if you take the pressure off, then there is no resentment that's built, right? Like resentment from her to me. Which is interesting because this time we had an incredible night nurse who was so attentive, like you're saying, to me. and understood your needs.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Yeah, she wasn't like pressuring me to do anything or like she was so motherly, almost grandmothery to me. And it was such an easy. Yeah, it was healing. And it was so much. It was like having like a warm, a warm embrace. Yeah, as opposed to comforting. I also really enjoyed having her. Yeah, but you're so, I'll be like, I just had a baby two weeks ago and you'll be like,
Starting point is 00:25:50 well it's time to like pull the bootstraps up like of course he doesn't understand so look unbelievable this time we had two little kids too so it was different because I had to I had to be with the little ones yes so I was like you know that's good and that is actually really helpful
Starting point is 00:26:06 because they want the attention to you know she was yes and I I feel like you know my husband you know when he was like oh do you mind if I go to work and I'm like oh no please do because I actually wanted that time for myself to be with my little feminine tribe to kind of re-nourish. And I feel like, you know, I didn't have any expectations towards him.
Starting point is 00:26:31 And that was actually great for our marriage because I wasn't expecting him to be the one to, you know, to do all these things or to do, you know, to share the load with me. I was just saying, listen, I love and appreciate you, but, and I think it's great that you're going to work and doing, you know, and I'm going to stay here and be with the baby. And I think that's great because I didn't want the pressure of like also wanting to make sure that he was good. Lauren, you've been taking notes this whole time. You didn't write that part down, right? Because I'll tell you on that specific subject. I didn't really have expectation for you this time either. Yeah. Besides, Miranda, him dealing with my other two kids. I did expect that. Yes, that's nice.
Starting point is 00:27:13 That's nice. But when Lauren makes a statement like that, I had no expectations of you on this show. Not just in this subject. That is a patently false statement. Well, now she'll know maybe if there is a next time. Yeah. It's hard to think of it next time right now. It's for the number. It's for the number. I mean, I love being a mother of four.
Starting point is 00:27:33 I feel like it rounds it out. My grandmother was a mother of four. And she told me the most important thing you can do is to have a routine. And I couldn't agree with her more. And we have routines at home that the boys just rely on. and they feel safe knowing that they have this routine, they have that consistency, they know that 4.30 every day, it's dinner time. 4.30?
Starting point is 00:27:58 Yes. That's an early dinner. Oh, YouTube's gonna love this. Tell us about the 4.30. What time's bedtime? What time is what? What time's bedtime? Oh, bedtime for the boys.
Starting point is 00:28:06 In the winter time, I try to aim for 637 in the summertime, 7.30. Because winter time's darker, quicker? Is that... Yes. Wait, winter time, I have to write this down. Is 6.30? Seven. To seven.
Starting point is 00:28:19 And then the summer is, you said eight. Seven 30. Seven 30. Like seven 30. And then roughly what time is the household waking up? 6.30. Okay. So it's like early early.
Starting point is 00:28:29 I'm waking up around five. So I get that time to myself. And it's the best thing that I could ever invest in. Are you doing your meditation when you wake up at five? I do. Yeah. And so does my husband. Are you guys doing it together?
Starting point is 00:28:40 No. Separate. I'll do it in my room and he'll do it in his bathroom. Oh, our room. Sorry. What's going on? with 4.30 dinner. How do we do a 4.30 dinner? 430 dinner is myself and the kids, obviously not my husband, except for on the weekends. And, you know, on the weekends,
Starting point is 00:28:56 he'll join us for 430 dinner. And honestly, because that way I don't feel rushed. I'm not rushing the kids to get through dinner to then get to bath. Because you know what it's like? Kids move at their own speed. Yeah. And I want to sit down and have a beautiful meal together and try to talk about their day, what happened. I talk, like, what is your rose, what is your thorn, what is your bud? We do the same thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Rose and thorn. Kids love that. And they love it. And, um... Wait, what's the bud? I don't know. The bud is like something that, like, sparked a little bit of hope or, like, joy. Yeah, like, yeah, a little bud.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Speaking of kids... Hold on, hold on. I'm not done with the 4.30 dinner. You can't go off the 4.30 dinner. So 4.30 dinner, and then, and then the baby's in bed by six. Okay. So I do 4. 30 dinner, sometimes we'll do a little walk, like a 15-minute little walk after dinner together.
Starting point is 00:29:52 And, you know, sometimes all of the boys will join me on that. And sometimes, you know, one will want to be doing Lego and, you know, three will join or, you know, it depends on the day. But the baby and I generally go for like a little 15, 20-minute walk after dinner. Then I do- For the circadian rhythm. His bath. Well, yeah, it is good for that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:12 And then I do his bath. and the boys are very good at the moment, like, because they're six and seven, having showers while I'm bathing the baby and getting the baby down. They're very good at, like, getting themselves ready. And then literally the little Yoto has been a lifesaver. It's like a device that is like reading to your child. So my son, who you put the cards in it, right? You put the card in and he loves listening to his books. So he'll listen to those.
Starting point is 00:30:42 and then my other little guy will, like, play with his Hot Wheels until I'm finished putting the baby to bed, and then I'll put them to bed. And then after that, I go and check on my teenager. And then after that, my husband's home, and then I'll sit with him and talk about his day. And then finally, it's time for bed, and then happens all again. The Hot Wheels guy is going to be your wild one. Oh, he is my wild guy. I know. I know. I'm just telling you. I already know. His favorite things are Hot Wheels and crystals.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Yeah, he's going to be the wild one. That's a great mix. Okay, so speaking of kids and your husband. and who better person asked? Your husband is the founder of Snap, right? Yes. How do you guys think about social media for your kids? Because you have teenage, you have younger. That's a good question. Well, we're talking about it a lot on this show. We had Jonathan Hyde on the podcast. I think people want to know, like, how do you guys being so close to it, knowing how it works, especially your husband, think about it. Well, my husband is very anti-screens for the young ones.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Because that's the way he was raised. And he's, and so I've kind of, you know, we've been together, 11 years and I've said to him, look, something that feels good to me is just like maybe on the weekend or a special occasion curling up with the kids, like the six and seven year old and the teenager if he wants to join in and like snuggling up and watching a movie. And he's like, okay, but not every weekend. I'm like, okay, that's fine. Compromise. But that's like the extent of the screen time. Although my 7 year old did just do a little, it was like over the holidays, it was like a learning program that he could do over the holidays, the summer holidays. And he learned like a little Mindcraft thing.
Starting point is 00:32:21 And so he was, you know, he obviously had screen time there. Are you playing Miranda's son on Minecraft? I don't play Minecraft. I don't play Minecraft. Okay. But then when we talk about my teenager, our teenager, who is 14, almost 15, he has, so I have the parental controls on his phone. and then on top of that, he doesn't have social media, which we think is important, but he does
Starting point is 00:32:46 have Snapchat, which is the only way he communicates with his friends. Like, they don't really text. They just snap each other all day long. That's what someone told me that the teenagers aren't texting anymore. They're snapping. They snap. That's how they connect with their friends. So we said, okay, you know, and then they have special things like family center on Snap, and then
Starting point is 00:33:08 they have this. new thing called the keys that you can watch with your child to just explain some of the dangers that are happening online and you watch it with them and it explains very simply like you know what could go wrong or you know how to prevent it and when to reach out to you know someone if you feel like something's off and then that's the way we do it at our house I mean and when did you allow him to have snap and a phone or like what would he was like 13 and a half Okay. I even bought the wind chimes. So the whole time that I'm working, I feel like they're actually learning. At the house, I'll go a little crazier. Like I got them this kit. Starting point is 00:38:30 is we do family movie night. We also do board game nights. So we have these two nights that are sort of ingrained in our week and they're really important to the kids and to me and Michael because we want to be present with our children. And one thing that we do is we always make a huge bowl of popcorn. We put these really delicious unreal M&Ms in the bowl. And then we cuddle up with a huge blanket. And we're always all using the same one downstairs in our movie room. It's by Lola. It is so beautiful, this blanket. It's like kind of like slightly weighted. It's really soft. It makes your home feel so cozy. And we'll just cuddle up under their Navy one. We also have their cream one. And we'll watch movies. Our latest was Baithoven. Who remembers Baithoven? We got under these blankets. We're so
Starting point is 00:39:24 comfortable. It was just like such a fun way to bond with the family. And then we'll do a board game night and we'll do blankets too. We just love blankets. We love being cozy. We love to get in our pajamas. And I just love that Lola's blankets elevate our space. So let's say, because this is going to be me tonight, that you're, we obviously live in Austin, we don't live here. So we're here. We have three kids in the hotel room,
Starting point is 00:40:11 and we want to go back and take them out for a souffle. When you would take them out to dinner at the table, would they sit there at three and five? Or are you putting like a screen or giving them colors? Like, what were your tools that you were doing when they were that young? So it depends on each child. Okay. So, you know, I, my seven-year-old has always loved books. So I could sit him with the book. My teenager, I could sit him with coloring because he was very much into, or a pen and paper and he would draw. I mean, it's not always perfect. But, You know, and then the wild one, who's my Hot Wheels crystal guy, you know, I mean, he will just do, he'll follow the lead of his older brothers when we're in that kind of setting. So he'll be interested in like, oh, what are you drawing or, or like, what are you building? Like if we bring a little Lego or something, he'll do that with his brother. And then the baby, he hasn't really been in that situation. Don't you love when they're babies because they just sit there?
Starting point is 00:41:12 I do, but not one and a half. Oh, I forgot. What is one and a half? Like, are they moving? Yeah, they're walking. Big time. All the moms at school are like bragging to each other about when their kids walk. And I'm like, well, I'm like, I can take as long as he wants. No, because once they move, they never stop. They just get faster and faster. So I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:41:34 I mean, zero to one is so nice because you can just cuddle them and they're not moving really around much, except for when they start crawling. Yeah. Mine can take all the time in the world to crawl. That's right. Take your time. And they do grow. Slow and steady wins the race.
Starting point is 00:41:50 That's right. How many years now have you been building, Cora? Oh, so the concept was in 2006 and then I launched in Australia 2009. And then I didn't launch here until 2017. And it's still 95% I'm 95% owner of the company. So how many years is that, how many years has that been? It's like 19 years. And how many of those years did you feel like, obviously you came from modeling at a huge career?
Starting point is 00:42:15 How long did it take you to feel like I got this? I'm the CEO now and transition into that role. You know, to be honest, that like CEO role is something that I'm actually thinking out. I'm like, do I really want to maintain that role with being a mother of four? I understand that. And I feel like there is a part of it that I love. And I, you know, I've been through so many phases with my company because I've been
Starting point is 00:42:39 through the obviously beginning stage and micro-managing kind of everyone. and everything phase. And then I went to the opposite extreme of like, let empower people to be in their power and employ people who are really passionate about what they're doing. And, you know, sometimes that's great, but then sometimes you have to come back in and take the reins. Like, obviously being a founder is really the most important thing to me. I don't really, you know, and that's why at this point in my life, I'm like, do I let go of the CEO role? Because it is a lot of pressure running my company, having four children. And I really do prioritize my family and I want to have my family come first. But actually, Core Organics is like a little baby girl.
Starting point is 00:43:29 And I've said that before. And it is something that needs so much attention, as you guys know, having your own businesses. It does require a lot of attention. Not a lot of people that come from your background, right? Yes. High level modeling, transition and build a company for 20. 20 years and have it be successful and be the CEO and the face. I have four children in the meantime. I have four children. So I imagine like there's like it wasn't easy obviously.
Starting point is 00:43:57 No. But I just think about like what kind of mindset shifts needed to happen for you to go from that to this because like I'll relate it in this way. Running to your media is completely different than sitting and doing this show with you. Yes. And it's a completely different mentality. Mentality. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Different part of your brain that's working. that's well. Yeah, it's interesting because we work with a lot of people that I would say like have more of like a creator, entertainer, like just creative background. And sometimes like that shift to actually building and running a business is more challenging, but you've done it. Yeah, I'm doing it. And it's something that I feel like I'm still continually learning every day, even after 19 years. And I feel like I'll always want to learn and grow. And that's the same with my husband. And he is like someone who I often will go to and say, what do you think of this? And he will guide me back to myself, which is really important because as a founder and as a CEO, you often do doubt yourself. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:44:58 am I doing the right thing? Is this, is this, you know, the right choice for the company? And he often will say, look, I believe in you. You have an incredible product. And you know in yourself and in your heart, like the right choice. And that actually has wrong true for me. throughout my whole business relationship with Cora, when I have actually quietened my mind and gone into my deeper part of myself, my intuition, I've made the right choices for my company. And that goes from employing the right team to creating the products. Like when I had pushback from some of my team members on,
Starting point is 00:45:38 they might not necessarily feel like this certain product is what they feel is like important to create. But I have this strong conviction that this is what we need to create and this strong knowingness and intuition. And then I do it and then it becomes a bestseller. And so that's really important to continue to always listen to your intuition. And I also think it's important to know that you can't do it all and to have people that are actually smarter than you working in roles that aren't your strengths and complementing you in that way. There's a real finesse between being able to listen to someone, but also listen to your gut. Yes. It's a finesse. Because you got it, you got, you do, of course, have to listen to your team members and the audience, but you also have to be
Starting point is 00:46:24 ahead of the curve and you also have to stay true to what you want to do. And to find that finesse, I think, it takes a while. It does. Yeah. That's, that's, I've found that in my own company. Yeah. You really do. And I think it, as you said, it's important to listen to the customers. It's important to listen to the feedback from your team. But at the end of the end of the day, if there's a knowingness inside of yourself that something just feels right, I feel like that's the energy flowing through you that you need to listen to. When it comes to the business and professionally, what's the dynamic between you and your husband? Because Lauren and I obviously have a dynamic where we do this thing together and it can get, can get testy at times, but you guys
Starting point is 00:47:02 are in separate businesses. Yes. So how do you, I guess like the question is, how do you work together if you do at all? Well, we have a lot of like appreciating. for the differences that we bring to the table. And he knows that I'm like very heart-centered and very focused on like compassion and love and coming from that place. I mean, all of my products are filtered through rose quarts. So that's like the core of my business.
Starting point is 00:47:33 But at the same time, he is very, you know, cerebral. And that is great because he'll have different. ideas and I'll be able to say and look at things from a different perspective with his insight and you know and I think that that is what makes a great team when you're able to listen to the other person and really take that on and not take offense to it. Is he intense with his opinions? Oh very intense. Huh? So intense. Huh? I can't imagine. Do you guys bring work into the house or do you separate it or is it just like fluid? It's quite fluid. Yeah, that's how our life is.
Starting point is 00:48:15 I don't think you can like take it. I think it's just our work is our life, is our business, our kids. It's a big pot stirred with all of it. It is. Every time couples say that they like have these bad, I call bullshit because I don't see how it's even possible. Sometimes things pop up, you know. Look, I think if you go away for a little, you know, my husband and I just were in Sedona for one night away. Oh, how fun.
Starting point is 00:48:38 It was so nice. And I must say it was like one of the best things for us in our relationship. And we've known for a very long time it's important to make that space for each other. And that was a lot of advice that we, you know, if we ask people what is the key to, you know, to being together forever and what creates that lasting happiness. And they always say, make sure that you spend that one-on-one time with each other. And so when we have times like that, we try not to bring up work in those situations when we're, but in our everyday life, obviously work and kids are part of our everyday life. It's all blended. Yeah. I want to talk about some of the things that you listed that you wrote down, some wellness things that you're doing.
Starting point is 00:49:19 You mentioned off-air hyperbaric chamber, but I'll let you kind of walk us through some cool things. I know we started the episode, but we didn't get to finish the list. There's a lot of different things. There are a lot of things. Yes. So hyperbaric chamber, I think, is really great because it oxygenates, obviously, the cells. And I feel like there's been a lot of research done on hyperbaric chamber. And Dr. Armand talks about how good it is for the brain and mental health. And also, there's been studies done on the benefits for your body as well. And also, I think, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure it's quite good for anti-aging as well.
Starting point is 00:49:57 like Brian Johnson talks about it a lot. Have you done one of the Brian Johnson dinners yet? I have. Yeah. He's great. He's got a lot of interesting opinions. We love Brian. He has a lot of interesting opinions. I'm open to it all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:12 I mean, it's obviously I'm not living that life. Yeah. But I think it's really great to be curious and to learn from him and to take some of those really great tips, like going to bed early. Would you follow the AI? or no? What did you say? I said to him that honestly
Starting point is 00:50:32 if my whole family wasn't then I wouldn't be able to do it right? So everyone would have to opt in everyone would have to opt in. I think I said no.
Starting point is 00:50:45 Did you have a dinner with him? Yeah. Oh yeah. I think I said no. And then like I don't know if that was the right answer. Were you still hungry after the dinner? Wait, hold on. I needed more than the mission.
Starting point is 00:50:53 We went down to Georgie Obaldi after the dinner. And had pasta. Yes. The sampler, sorry, Brian. We had bottles of wine. I mean, listen, but I love Brian. I really, I was.
Starting point is 00:51:05 I love Brian. I went home and had some more. But I need a little bit more than strawberry soup to get me through the night to nourish myself. I know. I understand. Maybe I needed to. And I relate to that. I needed to scale into the strawberry soup to be able to like sustain myself.
Starting point is 00:51:20 Maybe. But at the same time, I mean, the saunas, like he's into the saunas, which we've known for many years, people have used for many is for their health benefits. His message overall is a very good message. I think he's misunderstood because he's so eccentric, right? He is misunderstood. But his message is he just wants to help people live longer. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:37 I think it's good. And I did tell him it should be, yes, I said it should be a more positive message. Like it shouldn't be, don't die. It should be let's live. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. Just to be more uplifting instead of fear. This is what I tell my team when they email someone.
Starting point is 00:51:51 I'm like, don't use the word. Unfortunately, don't's a negative word. Yes. It's like there's a way to... What's a powerful. I like him changing his message, Brian. I'm trying. Yeah, I tried at the dinner to tell him, but, you know, he's got his...
Starting point is 00:52:04 That's a wild dinner. Yeah. When you came on last time, you told us about your medical medium, celery juice, and heavy metal detox smoothie. Are you still doing that? I'm doing celery juice, but not to the 16 ounces. I'm doing more 8 ounces. So I'll do lemon water, celery juice. And then I have my coffee.
Starting point is 00:52:24 and I have my coffee with coconut milk, and then I put a little drop of stevia in there. Okay. And then after that, I have my aloe juice and then my noni juice. Where is the aloe juice from and where is the noni juice from? The noni is Tahitian noni. Okay. The same noni I've been drinking since I was 13. What's, do you know the brand?
Starting point is 00:52:45 Tahitian noni. It's called Tahitian noi. You can get it on Amazon. What's the aloe juice? I just get that one from Irwan, actually. And you do this every single morning. Every morning. Is the coffee that you're drinking like mold-free, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. The coffee that I'm drinking is definitely, I know, lead-free.
Starting point is 00:53:03 Okay. Because there's this whole lot of information about lead right now being in a lot of products and being in a lot of the soil. So being in a lot of like, yeah. So anyway. What's the brand that you like? That is Camelian Cold Brew. Camillion Cold Brew? Yeah. And you do, and you just strong. Oh, it's very strong. I didn't realize until my son, told me. Yeah, it's strong. That stuff is really strong. Yeah. Like you can't have like a big cup.
Starting point is 00:53:29 You have to have a little. A little. You mentioned meditation and you mentioned a kind that you were doing. Can you tell us exactly what it is? I want to know just selfishly. Yeah, Vedic meditation. Okay. And you can look up Uma Mother and her name is Patty and she can teach you Vedic meditation. She also does yoga. So I just did a two-day intensive with her. where we were doing, so after the kids went to school, we did like rounding, which is like yoga stretching and then sit and meditate. And I noticed a benefit in my aura ring. I was much like I was in restored for that, you know, part of the day. And then it had effects like moving on for the next, you know, for this last week. I've been able to maintain being in the relaxed and restored mode
Starting point is 00:54:20 because I did have that little reset with her doing like a two-day intensive of meditation. And there's a lot of science to back up meditation being beneficial. And even, and I said to her, because I've been practicing for a very long time, and I said to her, even though I've been practicing since I was 18, I still have days where my mind is just like, like firing the whole time. And she said, well, that's fine. And there shouldn't be judgment with that because that is a moment for your mind to kind of decompress and let go of a lot of stress. So even if you're not going as deep, you're
Starting point is 00:54:57 still getting your feet wet. So it's like even if you're going into the pool and you're going in the shallow end, your feet are still getting wet. Huh. So I really liked that concept. I mean, I think meditation, and you mentioned this earlier, is like the foundation of everything. I agree. Sitting in silence with yourself, I think you get so many answers. I agree. When you think about your business during the day. I'm curious, again, for myself, how you structure calls, meetings, team, teamwork. Is there a day that you take off for self-care? Like, how do you structure your week and your time every single day? Planning is important. And working to the tea with your calendar is something that I think is so beneficial and so important. Everything from like, you know, dropping off the kids
Starting point is 00:55:46 to travel time coming back to, can I take a call? when I'm on the way back in the car to putting the baby down for his nap to then doing a podcast with you. And then after this, I've got a Zoom call with two of my other team members, but really planning and prioritising and planning and prioritizing the week and then planning prioritizing the month, then planning and prioritizing your time for the year. So we actually as a family have planned out like where we're going on vacation for the next year. So we've got it all planned and organized and we know that we'll have that quality time together and it gives us something to look forward to, especially in the times when we know we're going to be working a lot.
Starting point is 00:56:26 It gives us like a lot of things to be excited about. I think like for the whole family, it's a good thing to do because I like to travel when we do that. But part of the thing is it's like the carrot on the stick with the horse. Like, okay, I'm working and doing these things. So then we can. So we can do the thing. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:42 And really enjoy it when we get there. And that is really the key to life. And I actually said this to my little six-year-old. I said, do you want to know the secret to life? And he was like, yeah. Because he is very spiritual. He's the one with the Hot Wheels and the crystals that he loves. He's fascinated with crystals.
Starting point is 00:56:58 And he was like, yeah. And I said, you have to just enjoy every moment. Like the power is in every moment. And he was like, okay. And I said, and we have little tea parties, like a little lemon balm tea and a little chocolate. And I said, now have a sip of you tea. and I was like, now have a bite of this chocolate and close your eyes and just be really in the moment. And he was like, and I was like, didn't that taste like the best piece of chocolate you've ever had?
Starting point is 00:57:26 And he was like, yeah. And then this was like a year ago and he went to his preschool teacher and he goes, do you want to know the secret of life? And he told her. And he's just like, you know, he's on that level, which is great. I love that age because you can just like sing a song like a manipulation song like I sing to my son. He's living with his mom for the rest of his life. And there's no one but his mom. He loves his mom.
Starting point is 00:57:50 His friends went home. And said, Albi goes to tell us, like, you can just really like tell them like such positive things. And then they repeat it in their own way. In their own way. And then the friend went home and said, Dad, I was with Miranda Kerr and she told me to close my eyes and take a bite of the child.
Starting point is 00:58:06 Doesn't that sound great? And the dad's like, it sure does, son. No, this is just with my little six-year-old. Yeah, I'm just kidding. He's saying that your six-year-old has a friend and the friend goes to the dad and the dad gets excited. It's you. What else do you do with your time? Meaning like with your team you mentioned that you like to empower people on your team.
Starting point is 00:58:30 Is there like a big meeting every week? I want to know how you run your business because it seems like you're running your wellness. You're running your family. You're running all these different things. How are you running the business? So when we, before COVID, when we had an office in our business. LA, I was very big on kind of integrating the wellness into the office. And so we had a masseuse who would come in once a week and give everyone like a 15-minute shoulder
Starting point is 00:58:56 up while they're at their desk. And we would do meditations together. And it was really nice, but since COVID, our team is spread all over America. And so, like, we don't have that office space where we're all together. And I actually, you know, I'd love to build it back up, but we have so many great people now that are working all over the country. It's, you know, it's something that we do get together, you know, for the big meetings and that will be once a year.
Starting point is 00:59:30 And then we'll, you know, we'll talk about everything and run through everything. And everyone will come in and then we'll do like a Christmas party. and we all enjoy that time together. But I would love to get back into incorporating more wellness into kind of the everyday practice. How do you and your husband decide what social events you're going to go to? Because I'm sure you guys get invited to everything and it seems like you guard your time.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Michael and I are the same way. We're very intentional about where we put our energy. Yes. How do you guys sort of, what's the filter for that? We talk to each other and we say, is there something you would like to do? Does it, is it really worth our energy and going? Because we all know it does take a lot of energy to go to these events.
Starting point is 01:00:15 And sure, there's moments of fun and you can enjoy yourself, but, you know, getting hair and makeup and then, you know, all these things and spending time away from your family, is it really going to be in the best interest of our whole family to do that? And, you know, half the time we're like, honestly, I'd rather stay home and be with the kids. and they do grow up so fast. So we've been extremely selective with what we do go to.
Starting point is 01:00:43 But there are some things that we go to and, you know, and we really enjoy like the Metball. That's one I think that you can make an exception. Yeah. Yeah. I think you're going to say. We did go to your party. That was a good party.
Starting point is 01:00:56 That was a fun party. That was a good party. My birthday party. My 40th. That was so fun. So that was fun for me because I got to like, decorate the whole place. It was beautiful. It was it was really just my I got to share, you know, with everyone a lot that brought me joy like when it came to music and dancing and just having everyone
Starting point is 01:01:19 there from all over the world really to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was so special. It was a strong guest list Miranda. It was and I must say that my husband really encouraged that because up until that point I would literally just want to have a picnic in the backyard with the kids and he's like no Miranda you're returning 40, we're going to go big. And I was like, really? And then I just really got into it. And I enjoyed it so much. 40's a big one though. That's like, I think like, I really had a great time. Are you taking notes for my birthday? Yeah, but you're, no, I want a surprise party. I want a surprise. I want a surprise party. I want a surprise party. That you plan with a planner that gets my aesthetic. You want a surprise party that you know exactly what the surprise is. That's what she wants.
Starting point is 01:02:00 Who doesn't? But then sometimes she says, I only want like friends, like close friends. and family. And then other things, she's like, no, I need 200 people. No, no, no, I've decided. I think you just make it small because, like... Intimate. Yeah, I think just intimate. But I do like your idea, too. I wouldn't be mad if you did a surprise party like that. Yeah. It's like the, I'm telling you, whatever way the wind's blowing, it changes. It's like, I need intimate. Well, I think she wants like an intimate dinner. That's what I'm hearing. There's an intimate long table involved. Good lighting. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Dimlit. Not hard, Michael.
Starting point is 01:02:30 Yeah. Dim lighting. Great food. Great company. people that she actually wants to spend time with. And then there's a potential of a fun party that could be bigger afterwards. Okay, so it's like it's really two parties. Basically. It's like a dinner and then a party. I think you need to get on planning this though.
Starting point is 01:02:49 I think I keep telling you and reminding you about it. You need to like really pull out the tricks. Marcy Bloom, please call me back. Thank you. No, but your husband pulled the tricks out. Yes. Yeah, he figured it out. Whatever he did, he figured it out.
Starting point is 01:03:02 He did. Okay. I told you. That was good. And we don't go to a lot of things because, again, like, I think like you guys, we're, especially with the kids, it's hard. It's hard. And I'm like, I don't know what it's like staying past 8 o'clock these days.
Starting point is 01:03:13 I love going to bed early and I love waking up early. It's really so good. It's good for your metabolism, your skin. It's so good for everything. Yeah, it's so much better. And actually, I'm just so grateful that my husband loves that. And he was the one who got me into going to bed early. What time were you going to bed before?
Starting point is 01:03:30 I just would, I mean, it would be like, we'd be dating. This is like 11 years ago and it'd be like Friday night and he'd be like, hey, let's get into bed. And I'm like, we say 30. And he's like, yeah? And I'm like, what? And he's like, we're not going anywhere. And I'm like, okay. And then I get into bed, you know, and he's like snuggling me.
Starting point is 01:03:50 And I'm like, it's not even to like make out. He just wants to snuggle and go to sleep. And, you know, not every time anyway. And then I was like, okay. And then I really understood the benefits. of like going to bed early. What time were you going to bed before? Like, what was an average bedtime?
Starting point is 01:04:07 Like 11. Okay, so nothing crazy. Nothing crazy, but I would just, you know, after Flynn went to bed, I would then potter around the house and just kind of, I don't know, tidy up and just have my process. I get it. Yeah. I call it petzing.
Starting point is 01:04:24 Yeah. But now I kind of do that in the morning. So I've shifted it from doing that at night, which is like there was something like soothing and calming about doing that at night when like it was very quiet and calm and and now doing that in the morning as a similar kind of vibe but a little more energizing what are you watching reading consuming content podcasts like what are the things that you let into your ether with content hmm good question it's very limited i like to read books i like to read about like anything to do with like psychology, children, health and wellness.
Starting point is 01:05:05 So I actually bought three of my favorite books. There was a book that you recommended on an episode of someone's podcast, and I bought it. Which one? But I can't remember. I don't remember. So this one is really great. This is the Mind Gut Connection by Dr. Mayer. It was the second one. This one?
Starting point is 01:05:23 Oh, great. I haven't read it yet. I bought it though. Oh, you really, oh, this book will change your life. This is Power v. Force by David Hawkins. This changed my life. And even if I'm having like a challenging day, I will either pick up this book, flick to a page, or even just listen on YouTube.
Starting point is 01:05:42 He has a lot of lectures that he's done. And you can listen on there. And he's just very uplifting. What's the like major theme or a couple themes of the book? He talks about consciousness. And he's an MD and a PhD. And he talks about how. every thought you know affects us on a cellular level and how we can choose our
Starting point is 01:06:06 thoughts and elevate our reality by you know maintaining more of like a higher consciousness so for instance you know if you're down in like here's it's probably in here the scale of consciousness I don't want to butcher his words but it it is I don't know, just, oh yeah, the scale of consciousness, here you go, appendix B, 1, 3,1. You talked about this book on another podcast, how much it's changed your life. Oh, it has. And this has been, so there's a map of consciousness.
Starting point is 01:06:41 So we have, here we go, so at the bottom is shame, and that is the consciousness of like 20. And then at the top is enlightenment, and that is like between 700 and 1,000. consciousness. And so what was interesting to me about this is that there's love, right? And we all know that the love that you have for your partner, the love you have as a mother, the love you have for your tribe, your community, you know, that is very uplifting and empowering to have that love. But above that is joy and above that is peace and then above that is enlightenment. And so he talks about like as human beings we can go through the different waves of emotion throughout the day and it's about not staying in that negative emotion like see anxiety is down here and it's at the level of
Starting point is 01:07:42 fear and it resonates at 100 and so if you can then shift your perspective to come to kind of like where is it it's like forgiveness is like a big one and and like forgiving yourself, forgiving others for anything that they've done to harm you intentionally or unintentionally. Like, peacemaking is really important. And transcending your consciousness through doing that. And so this is just one, I think, that everyone would benefit from reading. And then another great book is Good Inside, if you've read that one by Dr. Becky Kennedy. I have not read it, but we interviewed her.
Starting point is 01:08:23 Should I also read it? We really like to talk to her. She also has an app. She's great. She helped us a lot. She's helped me so much with how to speak to children. Yes. And also she helped a lot with mum guilt because she says how important it is for you and, you know, to be doing what is important to you.
Starting point is 01:08:45 And that the children also learn how important it is that, you know, that obviously work is a part of life. and it's inevitable that everyone will be, and it's good for them to see you and your passion. So many times during the day, I just want to drink that feels real, something bubbly and cultured that tastes great and actually heals my gut. And that is why I have been drinking so much Senergy kombucha. Both at the studio and at home, our fridge is always stocked with Synergy. And here's
Starting point is 01:10:54 The thing, this is real kombucha. No shortcuts. It's always raw. It's never pasteurized. Synergy is made with real organic ingredients that you can see and taste. That's how you know they're working. You're getting scientifically backed benefits with every sip, like gut health, digestive support, immunity, and protein absorption. Synergy is the OG kombucha, and I've always loved their story, which goes back 30 years. Their founder, G.T. Dave, first began brewing in his parents' kitchen in 1995 after his mother's breast cancer diagnosis. Inspired by her recovery and the healing power of kombucha, he kept perfecting the recipe and eventually shared it with the world. That same very recipe is what you still find on shelves today, crafted with authenticity and
Starting point is 01:11:38 trusted for its real benefits. Each bottle delivers nine billion living probiotics across a diverse spectrum of beneficial bacteria you won't find in your average supplement. That diversity comes naturally from the way each batch is slowly fermented. These living cultures work hard to help your gut thrive. And when your gut microbiome is more diverse, the benefits multiply, all working to make your gut feel better. It's a daily reset for your body, any time of the day that you will actually feel. And synergy doesn't just improve your wellness. It also tastes good. There are over 20 bold flavors, so you'll definitely find one that you love. I've been into synergy forever and usually gravitate towards the tropical flavors, but this fall I've been reaching for more flavors that
Starting point is 01:12:23 celebrate the season. Honey, crisp apple. Cranberry, blood orange, they really have flavors for everyone. Each one is tangy, vibrant, and naturally bubbly. There's a party in every bottle. And there's a reason kombucha is our go-to. And of course, there's a reason it's always synergy. They were the first bottle kombucha paving the way for kombucha as we know it. And it's been the number one in the U.S. and worldwide for over 30 years. So sip it, love your gut, and feel the power of kombucha when it's crafted the right way. Again, that's good to know facts.org for more information. So obsessed with this brow peptide. I use it all day long. I use it in the morning. I use it to touch up my brows. I even use it at night. Why it's amazing is it's castor oil. Castor oil is what Egyptians used to use to grow their hair. And I added a peptide to it. So it's little umph. So many of these brow growth serums on the market are melting the fat around the eyes, which is so crazy. And this one is just non-toxic. I use it while pregnant. And it just gives your brows this like glazed useful look, almost like a feathered brow. It's so pretty.
Starting point is 01:15:04 I caught Michael using it. That's how like clean it is. A guy can use it and it lifts your face. I use this after my skincare. So in the morning, I habit stack it onto all of my skincare. So I'll do everything. I'll put my caffeinated sunscreen on. And then I'll just use the spoolie to go through my brows and brush them up. And like I said, it gives you like a wet lifted look. And then I also will use the little lash one.
Starting point is 01:15:33 See how we have like a little lash situation at the bottom on top of my lashes before I go to bed after my skincare. You can touch up your brows with this. I sometimes even will use brow pencil. My makeup artists use it. I think this is my favorite skinny confidential product. I'm very, very proud of this. And it works. It grows your brows because like I said, castor oil, Egyptians telling you, you got to try this. I have one in every purse. You can't go wrong. You can subscribe on our site, shop skinnyconfidential.com. And it's delivered straight to your door. If you want to upgrade your beauty routine and upgrade your eyebrows and lift your face, you got to try the skinny confidential's brow peptide.
Starting point is 01:16:16 Emma Greed told me because I'm obsessed with this topic of mom guilt. Yes. You have to tell me how you deal with this. And I asked her about this. And she's like, I would go to my daughter and I'd be like, I'm so sorry. Like mom has to go to work. I'm going to miss you so much. And she was like, no, Lauren, you should reframe it.
Starting point is 01:16:34 She's like, you should go to her and you should say, I get to go do what I love. Exactly. And it lights me up. And I'm so excited to come back and see you after work. And cuddle. Yeah. And that is important for your kids to see that you're in your passion and you're doing something that you're passionate about. And then they will then have that as a role model for them to follow their own passion and do what they're, what lights them up.
Starting point is 01:16:56 Next time I go to the dive bar with my friends, I'm going to say, you know what, honey, I get to go do what I love. I could use a break. How do you deal with mom guilt? It's something I deal like I literally struggle with daily. Yeah, it's really hard. It's really hard. And I tried to tell myself these things that it's okay and, you know, and it's hard when, like, I had a mother who was working a lot.
Starting point is 01:17:25 And I have a lot more work-life balance than she could have ever afforded because she didn't have the opportunity to work from home like I do. And, you know, I really, it kind of makes me a little more, like, want to make sure that my children don't feel like how I felt as a child in a way. And I know my mom was only doing the best that she could at the time, but she wasn't able to make like a lot of the things at school. So I'm like, always the first mom there on the, you know, at the school, whenever they want to volunteer, I'm like, yes, I'm one of those three moms that are there because I want to
Starting point is 01:18:03 make sure that my children have that because I felt like that I was missing that growing up. And I think that that leads to a part of that guilt somehow inside of me because I don't want them to feel how I felt. But actually, they're just fine. They're doing great. They're feeling very confident. They love it when I am able to, you know, go to their school things. Like the other day I was... I'm sure their friends do too.
Starting point is 01:18:30 Yeah. If it makes you feel better, I had a mother my entire life that always worked and did her own thing and had her own business. Yeah. And I appreciate it later in life. as a man and I think it's also attracted to me to women, that's just basically strong women. And I think for your sons, it's a good example, I think. Oh, I think it's also taught me to have that work ethic myself. And I always knew that my mother was there for me and that she loved me unconditionally and would do
Starting point is 01:18:59 anything for me. There was never a lack of love. There just wasn't as much presence as having her there, but I was so fortunate that I had my grandmother there. And, you know, my grandmother taught me so much from like, you know, how to dress, how to cook, how to, like, I would sit and read the Bible with her. I mean, I just had a lot of heartwarming conversations with her. And I wouldn't have even had that relationship if my mom was as strong as I had with my grandma, if my mom was a stay-at-home mom. So it all was exactly as it was meant to be, you know, and I feel like, as you said, it inspires me now to be able to have my own
Starting point is 01:19:45 business and feel like I can do it because I saw my mom do that. And it really did teach me the importance of having that good, strong work ethic. Like, look, let's be real. I could, I don't need to be doing this core organics. Like I, but I'm doing it because I love it. It's my passion. and I believe people deserve so much better than what they're getting. And as you were saying, people are doing hydrogen baths because what you put on your skin is absorbed.
Starting point is 01:20:16 And that is why people should be really aware of what they're putting on their skin. And that's why I created core organics, actually, because my mum had tumours in her spleen. And as a teenager, I witnessed and got to learn and understand so much more about health and wellness because of my mom's sickness. and we learned that what you put on your skin soaks in
Starting point is 01:20:38 and that then we went on a hunt to find products that were purely certified organic and efficacious and we weren't able to find them. Right. And now, you know, clean beauties out there and it's... Greenwashed. It's a dirty word. And I get put into that category of clean and sure,
Starting point is 01:20:59 core organics is clean, but we're so much more than clean being certified organic by a world certification, Ecosertcosmos, and, you know, and until you know better, how can you do better, right? My mom was used to lather perfume all over herself. And we all know that that's an endocrine disruptor and it contains, you know, over 300 chemicals. Lauren disrupted an entire restaurant the other night because somebody sat down with electric cream. She made us move the entire, literally they jigsaw puzzled the entire place. I'm not going to eat my spaghetti next to someone who is drenched head to toe. an angel. I was hiding in my jacket.
Starting point is 01:21:35 I would have done the same thing. I'm sure you would have. Here's my thing with scents. If you want to wear a perfume or a scent or a lotion, like you do that, but don't project it on to everyone in the whole world. By spraying so much that we have to endure the Christmas tree in the Uber. Yes.
Starting point is 01:21:51 That's not. I don't wear any fragrance at all. No, no deodorant. I was just going to ask you if you wear any fragrance or if you just do essential oil. I do essential oils. What's your essential oil that you wear? So I have rose. And I also have a blend that Martha made me from Sirius Bar. Love it. Which is a blend specifically for me. And it's a very grounding blend because she makes it based on your Irovedic dosha, like peter and Vata. I'm very Vata.
Starting point is 01:22:20 And so she made the essential oil blend for me. That's really cool. Yeah. Before you go, I know, because I've seen you in the skinny confidential mouth tape. Oh, I'm obsessed with skinny confidential mouth tape. That's part of your routine. I would love for you to walk us through your evening routine with your products and whatever products that you use to get you to bed. Yes. And my husband is often in bed saying, Miranda, come on. Can you just get into bed? I'm like, I'm still doing my, I'm still doing my routine, honey. Too about tell I'm sorry, your mouth is shut. Yeah. Well, that's why I'm like, okay, but like before I put the tape on and I make sure that, you know, all business is attending.
Starting point is 01:23:01 to the other side of the bed after the tape is on and the retainer is in and tapped me. Oh. And then you're like, I mean... And you're like, okay. Moment calls. Oh my God. I'm like, can't you take a hint? Well, I think sometimes it goes on like a little like early before you've checked. You haven't checked
Starting point is 01:23:21 the parameters yet, Lauren. Do not disturb. You haven't made the, you haven't asked if everything's good yet. You just kind of throw it on and think you're going to squeak away. It sends a dog whistle. Can you walk us through? like your evening before you go. Like tell us all the steps you take. Yes.
Starting point is 01:23:36 So after I get the kids to bed, then it's time for me to have a little me time. And we have an incredible cleanser. It's like a cleansing balm. It's the active algae cleansing balm that I use to remove my makeup. And I'll use that first. And then I just remove the makeup that way. And then I'll go in and double cleanse because I love a double cleanse. I use the foaming cleanser, which is incredible.
Starting point is 01:24:00 and I keep that in the shower because I just love to use it morning and night. And then after the foaming cleanser, depending on the day, if I need a little extra scrub, I'll do the Chimoric scrub. If it's been, you know, a makeup heavy day and I just want to really kind of draw out any impurities, that's what I'll use the Tumric scrub. I think you like that one. I like the Tumoric scrub and I also love your cleansing balm. The active algae one?
Starting point is 01:24:25 Yeah. Amazing. Yeah. Because you know why it removes the makeup so seamlessly? Yes. And you're not like digging on your skin. Yeah. And it's got the pineapple enzymes in there.
Starting point is 01:24:34 Oh, love that. To like gently cleanse your skin and exfoliate your skin. Okay, so then after that, and that's, I use our body wash in the shower. And then at that point, like the lights are dim and, you know, I'm in my bathroom. And actually my husband and I have separate bathrooms. So I get to have my little moment in the bathroom and my little Zen moment. And then I missed my face. with the minty mist once I'm out, and I let that kind of sit, and then I'll put the body oil on
Starting point is 01:25:06 all over. Like I said, that Nonegalo body oil, I need to give you some if you haven't had it. So you created your routine. Oh, my whole ritual. Yeah. So the body oil, and I mix a little bit of our body moisturiser, and I put it like literally, like from my neck to my feet. And I literally get that oil in every little like in my toes on the bottoms of my feet, everything. And then I do the plant stem cell retinal alternative serum, which is amazing. I haven't tried that yet. I have some here for you and the plant stem cell retinal moisturiser. So those products, it's like over 80% of die hard fans, retinal fans, said they got better results from using our plant stem cell retinol than traditional retinal. I am not a fan of traditional retinol. I get eaten alive.
Starting point is 01:25:58 It gets red and irritated and that's why I created this. You can actually use these formulas twice a day. No redness. No irritation. It works on fine lines. It works on plumping the skin. It works on renewing the skin. It is amazing. So Miranda agrees with me, TikTok. Next time you guys eat me alive. She agrees. I seriously couldn't agree with you more. It's stripping. It's stripping your skin. But this is, this has Bacucci oil and.
Starting point is 01:26:24 alfalfa, yeah, and it also has assaye plant stem cells to really nourish your skin. Michael's going to steal all the products so you give me. Yeah, I can see his brain. I've got some for you as well. Don't worry. And actually... I'm going to be lathering my body up with the oil. You will. Don't get too excited. Don't get too excited. In between your elbows everywhere, all over. Lather it up. Okay. After that,
Starting point is 01:26:50 I use our eye oil, then our eye cream. And then I keep next to the bed is our milky mushroom mask and I use that as like an overnight sleeping mask. Anyway, and also I forgot the face oil as well. It goes after the moisturizer. So you have a full ritual that you created before you go to bed. Oh yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:27:14 Are we doing red lights in the room? Is there any other things that you do that are wellnessy? So, oh, I have a cell regulation mat. It's from health optimizing. They're a company in Europe. And I have this green mat that I lay on my bed for 20 minutes before I go to sleep. And it really helps with ATP production and cellular health. And also, so they have an energizing program and then a sleep program and I do the sleep program.
Starting point is 01:27:43 So it really helps with that. And I put the red light Weber laser mat on top of me at the same time. so I'm doing two types of technologies at the same time. I'm sure Evan's so excited. Evan is like, okay, you're done? And I'm like, sometimes like, sometimes I'll try to do it. It's amazing. Like I'll read the books to my kids like in my bed.
Starting point is 01:28:10 So I get to do it before he gets home. Perfect. But then if I don't get a chance to do that and I'm reading to the kids in their room, then Evan has to endure me doing this 20 minute routine. But then we catch up. Yeah, it's not boring. We catch up at that time. It's not boring.
Starting point is 01:28:24 But then actually, when I put the neurovisor on top of that, then he's like, you've taken it one step too far. Then are the lights are flashing on my eyes. It's like going to bed with the transformer. Yeah, it is. He's like what? And I'm like, well, you're into tech. And he's like, yeah, it's a different kind of tech that I'm into.
Starting point is 01:28:42 Can I just ask one more question? What's the red light mat? It's a mat that goes over you? Oh, yeah. It's called a Weber laser mat. Weber laser one. Yeah, and it has laser technology and red light technology. I also have a Weber laser watch, which you can use on your wrist and a helmet.
Starting point is 01:29:03 Love it. Next time you come in, you wear the helmet on the show. That would be fun. I'm going to recommend the product that I would get to start. The one that I love is the bomb. I really love the bomb. I also love your Tumaract products. Those are the two that I would recommend.
Starting point is 01:29:15 What are you telling the audience to get? And I know we have a giveaway and a code for you guys. We do. And also the tumoury glow drops that just came out, minimize pores. And I use those in the morning. Okay. So that is not part of my night. Michael's going to need some of that.
Starting point is 01:29:27 But you can use it morning and night. I don't use it. Minimize his pores. Oh, fuck off. He's just, he's stuck on the body oil. Watch, you're going to come home. I'm going to be in the lasers. I'm going to be in the veds.
Starting point is 01:29:41 You like it. You like it. So you would recommend the drops. So we're going to do a giveaway. It's going to be all of Miranda and my favorite. favorite Kora products.
