Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a dear media production. She's a lifestyle blogger extraordinaire. Fantastic. And he's a serial entrepreneur. A very smart cookie. And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you along for the ride. Get ready for some major realness. Welcome to the skinny confidential, him and her.
Starting point is 00:00:22 I mean, we launched during the pandemic, so we've only ever known, like, remote work, but we're spread out across the U.S. And that's why it is so important to build a really strong team who you can trust because, you know, we are all spread out. I think you guys probably see this all the time. When a celebrity comes on, they're talking about their brand. And you know that they don't own every piece of the brand. Like they're the spokesperson or they came in at the Series A or they didn't sit there on like a whiteboard mapping out the product strategy. And if you don't do that, the customer is so savvy now. Like you see it on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:00:58 They know everything. It doesn't have the same momentum. Hello everybody. Welcome back to the Him and Her show, or today I should say the Him, Him, Him, and Her show. We have our friends Simon Huck and Phil Riportella on the show. They have become fast friends. This is actually Simon's second appearance on the show. If you guys have not heard that first episode we did with him, go check it out. Many of you guys maybe remember the episode that we did talking all about Lemmy in his journey. For those of you that unfamiliar with Simon, he's partnered with Courtney Kardashian on their amazing brand Lemmy, which we discuss all about. But today we have Simon. and Phil on the show, and we are diving deeper into all things investing, co-founding businesses, aligning on relationships, relationship maintenance. They also share tips on how to nourish a relationship when you have a partner who's the exact opposite of yourself and how to build separate habits that are also symbiotic in the relationship. In this episode, just jam-packed with two people we're fortunate enough to call personal friends. With that, Simon and Phil, welcome to the Skinny
Starting point is 00:01:55 Confidential, him and her show. This is the Skinny Confidential, him and her. Okay, so I want to go back to, first of all, how you guys met. You said you fell in love. When you were falling in love, what were you doing both in businesses? At the time that we started dating, I had command, which I still have, Command Entertainment Group, which connects brands with celebrities. So I've had that business for 18 years. That's how long ago is this when you guys met? Eight years ago. Yeah. And I was at like JP Morgan working in bank. Like, yeah, I was at a bank. Were you on, were you filming any television at this time? Spin crowd was over. And I guess I was occasionally on the girl's show keeping up.
Starting point is 00:02:34 But I certainly wasn't like a full time. And Phil, did you know, were you aware of him? Or have you seen him before? I had never seen him before. But I think a girlfriend of mine, like, recognized him. So like I had a little bit of context going into it. But never saw the spin crowd. Simon actually told me if I ever watched it, he would break up with me.
Starting point is 00:02:52 It's so good. I love you for being kind. I love it. It's actually not okay. Well, some clips and put it on your Instagram. People will freak out. What was wrong with it? Now I have to watch it.
Starting point is 00:03:01 I love it. It was just, it was a better business expanding into L.A. And my partner at the time, this guy, Jonathan, who now goes by Food God, I think the dynamic just wasn't right for me. It was there. I knew that, like, I was meant to be behind the camera. Like, I never wanted to be, I never wanted to be the star. I wanted to be like star adjacent. Like, I wanted to work in entertainment, but I did not want to.
Starting point is 00:03:22 I wanted to be involved in it, but I didn't want to be the person. I liked that show. I loved it. I love that you liked it. Thank you. I really watched the entire thing. You should watch it. Yeah, that's amazing. No, I have to. I have to binge it. Yeah, you should watch it and do a commentary. So you're working in finance. Yep. You're doing command. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:39 And then how did these businesses that you guys have created? Like how does it grow? Judy comes first. I had a ton of friends who were involved in these like emergency situations. Friends who lost homes in Southern California, friends in Florida who lost their home in storm surges. And I kept saying like, what did you guys do to repair? They had no preparation. Judy was born. That was the first time we ever met. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:02 At Rayna. Yeah. We went there and you gave the Judy presentation. And I remember being blown away. Not because Judy was great. Thank you. Because the women and men that were at that presentation in L.A., I thought to myself, they are so fucked if something happens.
Starting point is 00:04:17 They were not prepared for anything. They had no idea what to do. They were shocked that anything like this could even be possible. And I remember looking at Lauren and be like, listen. all we have to do is be prepared like 5% of the way and we will shoot past. And you're fine. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:31 That's so funny. Wasn't that the vibe there? That was the vibe. Yeah. That was like, it was all these boogey women who were like, oh my God, a flood. Like it was insane. People were like, what's a flood? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Okay. So you launched Judy. So we launched Judy. Around that time, Phil and his now co-founder, Brian, start discussing the idea of sniff. Phil always had a love for fragrance. We have a mutual friend who started a fragrance brand. based out of London. He was obsessed with the category. He kept researching it. He knew he
Starting point is 00:05:01 he wanted to do it. And I think around that time, you started taking like initial meetings with investors. Yeah. Yeah. And like even backing up a little bit, like I left banking, worked at a few different startups just to like get my feet wet, I guess. And then honestly, Simon like inspired me. Like you started off with like a human and I watched him kind of go through that process and then into Judy. And I was like, wait, like I've always wanted to do something like this too. And co-founder and I at the time, like you said, we were just kind of like ideating and I was like, didn't want to ask Simon for too much help at the time until it was real because I did want to do it on my own and like it was like my baby. And so I think that was
Starting point is 00:05:33 kind of our deal. Like obviously you helped me. But like when I launched it was when I. Yeah, sniff is all you. When you kind of helped step in and like really, really helped. But like getting it off the ground like it was me and Brian the whole way. And yeah, we just started taking meetings off of LinkedIn, I think. I was like, I was so outside of and so far removed from fragrance that had like really spend a whole year learning about it. And you guys must see this too. Like the things you did in the beginning to like set your career in the right motion. Like you look back and you're like, I can't believe I did that. Like what? For me, like I picked up a tabloid magazine that had this woman named Lizzie Grubman in it. I was 20 years old. I had $7 and I called her office every single
Starting point is 00:06:10 day for three weeks. And I was like, I will work for free. I will do anything you want. And that confidence to pick up that phone. That just seems so crazy to do that now at that same level. And I did it and it changed the trajectory of my life forever. It's why I'm here now. But do you feel like it's maybe because I think about this a lot where, because I agree with you, you do things when you're earlier in your career, when you're quote unquote maybe not a somebody yet because nobody knows of you. But then once you reach a certain level, now you're maybe in your head like, oh, I've
Starting point is 00:06:39 already, I'm this person. I can't do these things that I used to do. I think that it's a dicey position to be in because like those are the things that got you where you are. And it's such a good point. And arguably those are things you need to keep doing and never let. your ego get in the way. Like, I am on LinkedIn all the time looking for people to hire for the businesses. You guys know great businesses take great teams. I am the recruiter. I can hire any
Starting point is 00:07:03 recruiter, but no one's as good as me. I think that's one thing to me that's so attractive about you is, you know, Michael and I don't go to dinner all the time with podcast guests. You, like, you interview them and, you know, maybe you never see him again. Maybe you do. But with you, what I'm so attracted to, I think, is that you are in the glitz and the glam and you're surrounded by it and you deal with it, but you really, you're, you really don't have a huge ego. Thank you. And I think that it's so rare to find someone that's in your position that's so down to earth. You've really been able to maintain a humbleness about you. That's very seductive in a way that like it's, it's nice to be around. It's refreshing. Thank you. I mean, I also see the, like, the glitz and the glamour is so temporary. I think my
Starting point is 00:07:53 perspective on it is just so fleeting and not real. I think that I never get myself into it because I know it's just the way this world works. Yeah, it seems like you have a good boundary around it. Being around all of the people and yourself included that have had success publicly. Yeah. And I've quote unquote reached fame. Like, where do you, what mistakes? do you see people making that maybe that fades or it doesn't work out? And then because obviously you've been around a lot of people that have also been able to weather those terms and last for very long time. I mean,
Starting point is 00:08:26 the most successful influencers, celebrities are ones that don't play for their critics. And I think that's why I would probably make an awful influencer or celebrity because I am so sensitive to feedback that if I got a message saying, you sounded like this on this podcast, I'd be like, next time, I won't say,
Starting point is 00:08:43 you know, I will immediately think, okay, I should change my. And the most successful celebrities, let's talk about the Kardashians. These are people who just always stay true to themselves year over year are consistent and are not playing to their critics. You can't create for your critics because if you create for your critics, you're you're creating for the people who don't like you. You got to create for the people who do like you. Right. Right. When you mentioned LinkedIn, that's interesting that you guys, that you guys look for jobs there. I found this hack that's really working right now is where I'm,
Starting point is 00:09:15 I'm going on TikTok. Okay. And I'm actually doing the job interview through TikTok, meaning I'm looking at their page and, like, stalking their page. And that's the interview. So when I actually interview them, I already know. For creative positions. Who I'm dealing with. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:34 So like an example is like, say there's like a marketer. Like say you find this really great marketer on TikTok. Yeah. You go through like their whole page and you see what they're about. By the time I've actually interviewed them, it's like I already interviewed them. It's genius. I did the same thing. We were looking for like a social media manager or a graphic designer. And it's the best way to like learn about someone. If someone's on LinkedIn and they're like, oh my God, what if Simon's looking at me? What is credentials for you to reach out?
Starting point is 00:09:59 If they have relevant experience, we always say this though. Like your experience doesn't necessarily translate into like a perfect hire. We hire for attitude. We hire for attitude. And we and we train for scale. So the attitude of I'm going to get shit done, I'm going to learn and I'm eager to take on anything, that is the dream hire. I feel so blessed at Lemmy. We have just a SWAT team of gritty go-getters who are 27, 28 years old and just like burning through things. Like they're just, they're so advanced.
Starting point is 00:10:35 And a lot of it was learned. There's like a weird thing going on and maybe TikTok doesn't like this. but there's, I think there's like a put, like, I don't know, my personal experience when I was coming up, it was like, whatever you need me to do, however you need me to do it, I'm doing. I still am like that. Sure. You have to like bring it, bring it in. Like regardless of the pay.
Starting point is 00:10:54 And I understand people want to be competent and you need to be. But I think personally, when I'm hiring and the first question is like, what's the PTO? What's the vacation? Like, what am I? Like, immediately it's not that I'm, I've almost kind of written the person off because it's not even not about their skill or their word. more like I want someone that's enthusiastic and excited about doing whatever they need to do. The other stuff I feel will take care of itself later. But if that's your first thing is like voicing that you'll only do things right a set period of time based on like I understand like
Starting point is 00:11:25 I understand why people want that. Yes. But it's just like an attitude thing where I feel like when you're young and you're youthful and before you have a lot of obligations. Like this is the time it's like over deliver. Right. Right. 100%. And people may have a problem with that. But I guess as an employer, what I'm saying is I kind of ignore or kind of it just goes like this for people that aren't like that. Right. Like so I just don't see. Yeah. We had an interview last week and they, the person kind of their first question was like, is there a wellness stipend? And I just thought, it's fine that you want to know because maybe you have a wellness stipend at whatever startup you're right now. But is that the first question? No. I'm sorry. No one wants to hear the real truth. No,
Starting point is 00:12:04 that's not the first question. In fact, the question should be what can I do? Right. That should you the question. Listen, listen, it's survival of the fittest. If you're going to come into a business and stand out, it's like, bring your A game. If I have to take out the trash or I have to unpack boxes or I have to do things I don't want to do, it's like, to me, it's, it's part of the gig. It's part of the gig. How do you guys find employees that are so amazing besides what I don't, I mean, past LinkedIn. Like, you said that you've like sort of like trained a lot of these employees on the job. How do you find them? How do you put them in the right position? And then how do you create an environment where they can thrive? Once you kind of have that first interview,
Starting point is 00:12:47 typically like the attitude shines. And if they have the right attitude and the grit, it's really just a matter of time and patience and also giving them the opportunity to flourish, giving them the skills. I often feel like I, the more time I give them and like the more opportunity, the more they, like, if I'm like constantly micromanaging, every single thing. They're going to need to make some mistakes. But once they make them, are they going to make that same mistake again? We have been incredibly lucky in our businesses. I think we have just this dream team of people that scale businesses really, really quickly and understand what it takes. Like, there isn't, it's Friday night. It's what do I need to do? Do you share employees throughout
Starting point is 00:13:27 your companies or are they separate companies? Totally separate businesses. Totally separate. Yeah. Yeah. Completely different teams. But shared learnings. And is it like an office? I'm just curious, like, for my own selfish self. Is it like a big office or is it separate or is it in LA? Like what, how does that structure? So we actually don't even have an office. I mean, we launched during the pandemic. So we've only ever known like remote work. But we're spread of crap like spread out across the US. I have people in LA and Chicago. And that's why it is so important to build a really strong team who you can trust because, you know, we are all spread out. Like we don't see each other. I mean, we have, you know, Zooms and we're on Slack all day. But like, yeah, you just has to be
Starting point is 00:14:06 like that innate trust there too. Having direct access to the Kardashians and obviously you being partnered with Courtney, what are some of the things you've learned from that family when it comes to scaling a business effectively? Partners are everything. Like finding the best business partners and the best teams. It's all about teams and partners. Well, I think that that's shown through you, Emma Greedy. I mean, it's like you guys, it's very strong partners. Incredibly strong partners and also owning every single piece of your business. I think you guys probably see this all the time. When a celebrity comes on, they're talking
Starting point is 00:14:38 talking about their brand and you know that they don't own every piece of the brand. Like they're the spokesperson or they came in at the Series A or they didn't sit there on like a whiteboard mapping out the product strategy. And if you don't do that, the customer is so savvy now like you see it on TikTok. They know everything. They feel it. The end consumer feels it. And it doesn't have the same momentum. Haley Bieber's done a good job of that. You can tell that she's been involved since the inception, since the idea. You can tell you can how she has her hands and everything. To me, that's what it feels like.
Starting point is 00:15:11 There's no, she is involved in every piece of the business and you can just feel it. Yeah. There's no one that supports it more than Haley. Right. You can see how hard she's working. And it's been tremendously successful. Yeah. Melissa Wood's done a really good, a really good job of that. Yeah. Courtney's done a really good job with Lemmy. I feel like, I feel like she, like, wanted to do this idea like years ago. Lemmy has been something that she has wanted to do for 10 years. And then she is such a perfectionist. She wanted to make sure that where she was in her life, she's happily married, that she could devote all the time to it. I mean, we four years ago sat in her living room and we had ordered like 60 different gummy vitamins.
Starting point is 00:15:50 And we went through every single product. And we looked at the ingredients. And so many of these ingredients were filled with just bad for you formulations, gelatin and corn syrup. And it didn't make any sense to us. Like, how could you not create a clean formulation if you have the opportunity? And I think the challenge there, the opportunities that the consumers don't really know. Okay. I heard about this brand through Kristen Cavalieri. And then the founder came on our podcast. Her name is Lisa. It is called Chroma Wellness. And there's two products with chroma that I take every single day. And one is their beauty match. It's so good with a little bit of raw milk. You could use regular milk or almond, too. you froth it up and then you add some hot water on top with lots of ice. It is delicious, but the best part is, is there's 10 grams of protein in two scoops. So I get protein in my macho,
Starting point is 00:16:49 which is really amazing. And then they also have this product that I truly harassed the founder for. And it is cranberry hydration elixir. And it's basically like this slightly spicy cranberry electrolytes. They both taste delicious. And like I said, I have been trying to tighten up post-baby. And these are two products that have really helped me because of the protein. And because the cranberry, it just gives me like something sweet at the end of the night. They also have a five-day reset. It is absolutely the best reset on the market. It's so delicious. Everything is based on nourishment, not deprivation. You can enjoy all these superfoods. rich foods and beverages they even have like a cookie butter. It's so good.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Reserve your five-day reset now to take advantage of free shipping until the end of January. Chroma is also offering an exclusive 15% discount. For all him and her listeners only, go to chroma wellness.com and intercode skinny at checkout. All right, I had a lot of hair shedding after I had a baby. And it was very annoying. And so I really started to take a very proactive approach to my hair. I wanted to figure out what the root cause was of why I was shedding. So there's a couple things that I did.
Starting point is 00:18:08 The first thing is I got a silk pillowcase. You can not go wrong with this. It's so good for your hair. I also got a scalp massager to stimulate hair growth. And I started microneadling my scalp or using like a high frequency wand to really start growing the hair. I also went Burnett, which I think has helped so much. And then I obviously supplemented.
Starting point is 00:18:30 And the supplement that I use to support my hair and to not have that shedding and hair thinning is Nutraful. This is a supplement that I take every day and I can tell you I have noticed a huge difference. You should also know Nutriful is the number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement with over 1 million people seeing thicker, stronger, faster growing hair with less shedding. What I've noticed personally is my ponytail's much thicker and I don't have a lot of shedding anymore. So it's amazing. Take the first step to visibly thicker, healthier hair. For a limited time, Nutraful is offering our listeners $10 off your first month subscription and free shipping.

Starting point is 00:20:53 ingredients and people are going to be able to get away with less and less and less. Yeah, they are. They are, especially with. with TikTok, they're able to do a deep dive. You know, I think I think a lot of supplements can almost feel like window dressing where they put an ingredient in. But do they have the right clinical dosage of that ingredient? Like once you start to get into it, you do a little bit of research. I think the consumer has so many choices. There's a lot of incredible brands out there. Did you feel like that same with candles when you first entered this industry? Did you feel like you needed to disrupt the category? Absolutely. Yeah. I was actually going to say that too.
Starting point is 00:21:26 because, you know, I think you see a lot of these premium brands, right? And, like, who have candles that we used to burn in our house and they're toxic and they're really bad for you. And they're really expensive too. So when we started sniff, we were like, let's just create a product that is clean, non-toxic, super high quality. It still gives you that, like, premium luxury experience, but at a fraction of the cost. And same with fragrance, too. You know, like, I think you saw kind of, like, clean beauty trickle down with, like, makeup and cosmetics. And then now it's kind of consumers are getting smarter. like you just said, and they don't, they care what's in their fragrance and their candles.
Starting point is 00:21:59 They know, no. It's burning in their house. It's funny because when I first had a baby, I was burning candles and she developed like a cough. And I was like, where is this coming from? And the cough was from the candles in my house. This is like three years ago. I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Like, I think as a mother, you do all these things for like household non-toxic and like branch basics and like you're trying to like do all the clean eating and that da-da-da-da. And you forget that the candle that you're burning. Yeah, all day long. All day long. That everyone's breathing in, you have to look into it. Yeah. This is so weird, but some candles that I've turned on my air purifier machines, like, all of a sudden, like, go wild.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Wow. Yeah, yours doesn't happen. That, that is, that should be an ad. Yeah, that, can we use that as an ad? You should. Hello. Thank you, Lauren. Like, someone's in their house and, like, they put the, like, toxic candle on.
Starting point is 00:22:54 And like all of a sudden the air purifier goes, ah, yeah, yeah. That should be the test. You know? And like then, and then later you light sniff and it's like just humming. Yeah, calm. Yeah, let me chill. Yeah, let me chill.
Starting point is 00:23:06 And you take a let me chill and you're calm. Yeah. Okay. Why decide to go in to vagina health? So vaginal health is obviously like a huge part of women's health. And a lot of people, when we talk about gummies, like gummies at the beginning of a lot of people. their wellness journey. A lot of people start in gummies before they go into capsules. So it was an
Starting point is 00:23:30 obvious choice for Lemmy and for Courtney. She's always been interested in probiotics and prebiotics. So Lemmy Per was something that she was really excited about. The name is something that Courtney came up with. So fun. And I think also the ingredients were something that allowed us to have like incredible clinical benefits around kind of balancing your your vaginal microbiome and the pH. odor control, taste, sweetness, which are something that a lot of women think about and are already buying products for in the capsule format. Can you do one called Let Me Come and make them for guys? We really want to. We really, and we added pineapple in there. We really want to. I don't know how big the market size is, but Michael, what do you think? I think the market's pretty
Starting point is 00:24:15 sizable. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, great. You could be the model. We could do it before and after taste. The clinical trials. Yeah. Yeah. They say pineapple too. too for semen, right? Yeah. It's, yes, they do. Pineapple is really good
Starting point is 00:24:28 to ingest for odor control. For odor control. Yes. We use a clinically studied probiotic that gives us those claims, but yes, pineapple definitely sweetens the deal. That is an ad too.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Let me come and all the guys can start. It's a little on the nose, though, no pun intended. What would you call it? I don't know, but I don't know. Let me finish.
Starting point is 00:24:54 Yeah. That's not bad. That's actually pretty good. Let me get one. I like let me finish. Running up the chain and see. Okay, yeah, I'll talk to court. What has been your most popular launch?
Starting point is 00:25:08 Lemmy Per, she flies. Lemmy de Bloat is a close second to Per. And then we just launched our capsule collection. We have Lemmy Curb, which is glucose control and craving support. I take it every day. Gets you off that goddamn sugar roller coaster and stops the cravings. the food noise for me, gone by 5 o'clock. And Lemmy Burn has been our kind of runaway. It's our fat burning capsule. And I should preface this because Courtney was nervous about launching this.
Starting point is 00:25:34 She is all about loving kind of your body and every kind of form of your body. But belly fat is the devil. And this capsule was targeted specifically for visceral belly fat. And it uses incredible ingredients that activate A&PK in your body and encourages your body to, burn fat instead of storing it. How involved are you in the conception of all these? Oh, involved in every detail. We have a medical board and we also use Courtney's personal doctors. So we're launching tomorrow actually lemma mama, which is a prenatal vitamin. Surprise, surprise, that Courtney has been working on with her personal doctors for the last year. Very smart. Yeah. Lemmy mama. And I feel it and you know because you have kids like as a woman,
Starting point is 00:26:19 you are so hyper-focused on what you put in your body around the time that you're having a baby and while pregnant. And so for Courtney, she just, it made so much sense. She's been taking prenatals for years. And every time she would take a prenatal, her doctors would say, oh, you don't have enough of this in it or this in it. So she solved that problem. And what's your favorite launch that you've done, Phil? Oh, so hard. I mean, I think in fragrance, like crumb couture, which is our croissant fragrance, has done so well. It's gone viral. It literally smells like a croissant. It's kind of crazy how you can make a fragrance smell like croissant and want to wear it. And then sweet ash is another fragrance of ours which you also make into a candle. But it has just like really
Starting point is 00:26:57 sweet kind of like earthy, woody notes. There's like vanilla in there. There's tonka bean fur ball some. It's delicious. Look at him with the fragrance. I know. I'm like, hello. Yeah. Yeah. It's like you are romantic about the fragrances. I mean, yeah. It's amazing. I have to smell this stuff all day long and like all things that we're not releasing too. So like we go and meet with are perfumers uptown and it's like just smell overload. We call them smell sessions. But it's very, very creative. It's a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Okay. So your wedding. Let's talk about your wedding in LA first because I did know that you got married in LA because Melissa initiated. Yeah, she initiated. Yeah. Talk about that. So we actually did two weddings.
Starting point is 00:27:36 So I guess like the big wedding was the one in L.A. We got married at one of our favorite hotels, the Bel Air Hotel, which is so romantic and a place that we have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time. we work with Mindy Weiss, who is not only like an event planner, but she is a very close friend. And the kind of mandate going in was like, I wanted it to feel like a fancy person's living room. I wanted it to feel residential, which I know sounds insane, but I don't like the feeling of like a banquet hall. I wanted you to walk in and feel like you were in a cozy, chic living room with drape. So we, meanwhile, you're like just wanting to like know about the wedding and I'm talking
Starting point is 00:28:14 about the decor. No, no, no, I love this shit. I love this is my favorite thing ever. Okay, you're like, what about the love? No, no, no, no. So that was the mandate going in, and we wanted to really have something for our friends. Like the wedding, and you guys know this, the wedding is really something you do for your friends and family. Yeah. You're so caught up in it all, but it was the most fun that we've ever had.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I would spend the money again. I had no regrets, and I want to do it again in five years. I wanted, like, no wedding or like a really low-key wedding, and we had to, I felt like not low-key weddings, but it was really amazing. Like, both of them were incredible. LA was just, like, stunning. And Melissa initiated, is it initiated? Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Yeah. Officiated. No, no, no. Same thing. Damn. And I pronounce everything. Officiating a wedding's hard. No,
Starting point is 00:28:59 no, shit. Oh, he's going to talk about his experience. Go for it. No, go for it. It's hard. I have officiated. But I don't think I'll ever do it again.
Starting point is 00:29:06 He's a little, he's offended that you guys did not ask him to officiated. No, not to give you another compliment, but I feel like you would be a great officiant. Oh, my God. Simon. Simon. Can I get a compliment? Let me tell you something. I had fucking standing ovations growing up.
Starting point is 00:29:18 I see that. I killed it. No, because you're giving me Gary Vibs. No, no, but I'll tell you what's hard about officiating a wedding. Because at first I went in there, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:29:24 oh, I have to go and be funny and like make it light. Then you realize like this is someone's most important day. Yep. So you can't, and the family's there. Yep. And like the grandma's there.
Starting point is 00:29:32 It's not about you. And it's not about me. Yeah. Which is weird. It's like a plot twist. No, but I think it's difficult because you have to like make it special, but you also don't want it to be sort of stiff.
Starting point is 00:29:41 And you want to engage everybody, not just the bride and groom, or bride and groom and groom, whatever it is. And so, like, I started having a panic going into it. It's a lot of pressure. It's a lot of pressure. And we knew that we wanted a friend to do it. And Melissa was our first, really our only choice.
Starting point is 00:29:58 And we asked her, we were sitting at like Spring Cafe. We asked her and she did not say yes right away. She just kind of froze. And she said, I'll get back to you. It's a big decision. No, but I respected that. She's like, let me go home and think about it. it. And like, she's like, I want to say yes. But like, it's a lot of work. She wanted to make sure
Starting point is 00:30:13 it was perfect. There was a receiving line for her after she like finished her speech. There was a line of people being like, you. No, she stole the show. She was incredible. Every morning, this is such a hack. Okay. So sometimes I don't get to do a meditation because my kids like wake up before me or like, I don't have time. So I take my son and put him in the stroller and I do her walking meditation. and it's 16 minutes and it will change your whole day. Her voice is just like so. Coming. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:43 And my son even likes it. He's like sitting there like rigamortis. Bopping along in the store. It's a Melissa's voice. She's the best. So like soothing is the word I'm looking for. And it's like such a great way to start the day. So I can only imagine how she would be officiating.
Starting point is 00:30:59 Yeah. Imagine her voice like right before you about to walk down the aisle. It was like immediately calmed me and I'm such a nervous person. I couldn't even sleep for months leading up to the wedding. So just thinking about having to walk down the aisle and do my vows. She had essential oils for us. And Melissa, I had a crystal.
Starting point is 00:31:14 I felt like so like protected by Melissa. It was so amazing. And I've known Melissa. Like I started as an intern. Melissa was a cocktail waitress at Marquis. We've known each other for 18 years. So it was kind of this like full circle moment where she was able to do something for us that was so generous because it was she was everyone was nerve.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Like it's such a nerve-wracking experience. but she crashed. And the outfit, I mean, we were there for the outfit. No one's asked me to officiate their wedding. You would be phenomenal. Well, your voice is a little bit. You're going to get a lot of games now. A little screechy. A little screechy. No. I could bring it down and off.
Starting point is 00:31:48 You would bring the levity. No, the comedy. No. The comedy, Michael. A little screechy voice. You just don't want me to outshine you. I don't know if you could. Michaels, Michaels was a 10 out of 10. But so was Melissa's. Heineken Zero Zero is an alcohol-free option to the original. Heineken that you love. It has a hundred percent taste, but zero point zero percent alcohol. This means it's perfect for all the times where you want a beer or you would like a beer,
Starting point is 00:32:16 but you can't have the alcohol. As you guys know, we have severely limited our alcohol consumption and having a beer and being able to drink one without having the alcohol effect is incredible. I will not lie. One of the things I miss most about cutting alcohol is the taste. I love a good cold beer and now I can enjoy one without having to worry about the alcohol consumption. The best part, though, is it actually tastes like a real Heineken, which is amazing. And I just love holding a bottle of beer. And so to know that there's no alcohol in it, but I still get the taste and the feel of holding the bottle is amazing. So maybe you want to have a working lunch with afternoon presentations.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Maybe you want to give up alcohol for dry January. Post-workout drinks, now you can have one. Now you can with Heineken Zero-0. If you're somebody that's looking to cut alcohol or cut back on alcohol, but you still want to enjoy that fine Heineken beer taste, Heineken Zero-Zo is the choice for you. It's absolutely incredible. And like we said, it's made with 0% alcohol so you can enjoy that Heineken taste, but without the alcohol effect on your body. Heineken 0,100 taste, 0.0% alcohol and only 69 calories.

The number one wellness trick that has changed my mornings and my life is dry brushing.
Starting point is 00:35:14 It's one of those things that you do and you just notice the benefits right away. So I decided to set out to launch the best, most superior, prettiest, most effective dry brush on the market. And voila, we have the skinny confidential butterbrush. How I use this is so specific. It's annoying. What I do is I try to wake up before my kids and I do like a five-minute situation. I'll use the dry brush on my body like dry. So get naked and use it in the bathroom, brushing up under the heart and down over the heart.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Then after I'm done dry brushing, I'll get in a freezing cold three-minute shower. It is like a shot of three expressos. without the come down. I cannot say enough good things. It is Michael's favorite tool. He's so addicted to it. He's always using it. It's honestly incredible. And it's one of the only dry brushes on the market that doesn't collect mold. I've tried every single one on the planet and most of my wooden dry brushes had all this like mold on it. This one's silicone. It's lilac. It's pretty. It has a little thing to hang on a hook so you don't have to just like put it in your shower and let it collect all that water. I really tried to fix every single pain point when it came to dry brushing,
Starting point is 00:36:30 and I'm so proud of it. You can now shop it now at shop skinny confidential.com. That is shop skinny confidential.com use code butter for 15% off. So what do you think besides creating, not creating for your critics, is the secret to having a lot of longevity, not just celebrity, but social media. because there's a lot of people who are skyrocketing to fame right now, like out of nowhere or they're like getting a taste of like this huge push. Yeah. Like what happens afterwards and how do they sort of sustain the attention that they're getting? So whatever you're doing, keep doing and stay focused and don't look at other people.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Do not compare yourself. iterate when you need to. But I think consistency like the businesses and the brands that are the most successful are the people that just keep going. And I think a lot of people get discouraged, as do all of us. Like, I have failed more times than I've succeeded. No one talks about the failures, but the failures are what have allowed me to be successful in new businesses. When do both of you feel like you failed? Because from the outside looking in, I don't, I mean, I don't see that. Oh, God. There's, like, I mean, do you have time? How much time do we have? I did an immersive experience called a human, which looked
Starting point is 00:37:53 really successful, but I lost some money when I launched the experience. I've launched businesses in beta form that have never seen the light of day that just failed. I mean, investors that didn't work out that I had to take out of a round. Like the list goes on and on. No one sees the failures, but they kind of exist in your head constantly. I think it's good for you to talk about it because I think from the outside looking in, people will see both of your life and they'll say, okay, you've had every chance you've been on television. You're well connected. You're well funded. You know, you have good ideas. You have resources. And so I think it's good to talk about the failures because to your point, it's not, it's not always a win and it's about
Starting point is 00:38:37 continuing to try different things and keep going. Where I think like people, what they'll do is they'll say, well, I don't have what Simon and Phil has. I'm never going to try. But you've had all these things and still had bumps. Right. Right. And I think a lot of people, they, they quit before they even start by just telling themselves they don't have maybe some of the resources that you have. Right. Or the connections. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:57 And even with the connections, sometimes things can still go wrong. Yeah. Yeah. And then, of course, lightning in a bottle. Like, there is always a little bit of luck. Right. There is all, like the day that I called Lizzie Grubin's office, someone picked up and thought that I was crazy and funny and agreed to have me come in.
Starting point is 00:39:14 And just so happened the day that I came in, Jonathan was there. And he said, oh, like, we should sit down and have an interview with you. Like, you seem like a real person. And so we have both been lucky, even meeting Phil, like all of these things. Like, I have never felt stronger professionally because of my relationship with Phil. I'm so focused on the things that matter, like our personal life, our family, and our business. There's no distractions. He seems like a good husband.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Me or Simon. Both you guys. Yeah, Phil's a great husband. Who's a better husband? Phil. Oh, size. He's a good husband. I'm a better husband than you are a wife.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Yeah. Are you fucking serious? No, I fully am with you. You think you're a better husband than I am white. Yeah, 100%. Why? I want to hear this. I just think that I'm...
Starting point is 00:40:00 He's dead serious. I'm dead serious. I think, like, if you take... I'm not saying I love you more, you love me more. You love me more. I'm saying that I just feel like I bring 110% all the time. What do I bring? Like 90.
Starting point is 00:40:15 That's untrue. I think the differences is that you... Your percent you see, mine is seamless. Wait, okay. Gun to your head, if you had to take an unbiased panel of people that don't know us and they get to observe us for... They're going to say you, but that's because I'm a sleeper cell. Right. I am the alligator that you can't see the mouth with the eyes in the lake.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Because I'll give you one. When you come home, I always make sure the house has every checked vibe you could possibly have. But time out, time out, time out, time out. The candles are lit. Time out, though. The house is clean. The boss of Nova's playing. The kids are running around with smiles on their face.
Starting point is 00:40:58 It's very idyllic, the life that I curated for you. If you're being dead honest. I'm being dead honest. In front of a group. Living for this. How much are you doing that for me and how much are you doing that for yourself? It's a mix. It's a mix.
Starting point is 00:41:11 It's a mix. It's a mix. I'm doing it. Your dad came over to my house and you know what he said to me? He woke up every morning to Spanish guitar. And he said, I love the way you run your house. And I said, Because your dad saw the seamlessness of how I am in the marriage.
Starting point is 00:41:32 Okay. Once again, I'm asking you unbiased if you were to judge. You would be judged initially and then people would get to know us really well and it would be me. That's my honest opinion. Like the fact that you playing in. I'm like I'm a little bit biased. Yeah. The trip planning is pretty key.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Okay. I've never booked a flight my entire relationship since I was 21 years old. We had step shop on the show that today and we were talking, right? I know your friends. Oh, love family. And she was talking about what she does for her husband, how she packs, sherman that unpacked. And then I realized yesterday when we landed here, I unpacked for you and I packed for you. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:42:06 That's amazing. He'll packs for me. Oh. You pack everything. I book the flights. I pack everything. I am the director of vibes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:13 So when Simon comes home, the vibes are immaculate. Immaculate all day long. On a level that I wish I could live life. Tell me the vibes because you are a vibe curator. So what's the vibes? It's kind of like what you just described. It's like candles are lit. Like the house has to be clean.
Starting point is 00:42:28 Like I can't have any clutter anywhere. Like I'm kind of Marie Kondo. It's immaculate on a level that you cannot. It's like a showroom. I need to know a couple questions. What kind of music's playing? Oh my gosh. Well, Simon's like a little bit music sensitive.
Starting point is 00:42:40 So during the work week there can't be any sick. Oh, there can be any music. So what I'll do is I'll put in headphones and like he's yelling at me and can't get a hold of me. That's EMF on his ears, though. Do you really want that in his brain? I cannot hear it. I cannot have the background noise. And you have a light Nordstrom's piano jazz. Yes, but that's not what I'm getting. I'm getting like Becky Hill at full volume. What's Becky Hill? It's Becky Hill. She's true. No, no, no, no, no. It doesn't even matter. It's Becky, I love you. But it's just, it's just too
Starting point is 00:43:08 loud for me. I need complete silence. I can't do horns in the morning. No horn music. Oh, horns. What do you guys play? Hold on. Let me, let me, let me, let me. Let me. Let me explain. Like a, like a, like a, like a trumpet. This is the move.
Starting point is 00:43:21 You got to go to sleep to 5 to 8 hertz. Those are not music. It's frequencies. Okay. So your body is releasing anxiety and energies as you sleep. Okay. 5 to 8 hertz needs to be on every single night you sleep. Hands down.
Starting point is 00:43:36 You can't, like, that's like, like you have to. Okay. Okay. Then you wake up. When I wake up, I'd love a classical saxophone. maybe really light. No, that's for the evening. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:43:47 It's the saxophone. It's a soft, it's called gentle saxophone. Okay. Then throughout the day, a light basanova with no words. You can't do for the workday. It's good for your flow. I'm taking notes. I'm taking notes.
Starting point is 00:44:01 And then as you get later into the night, a Hermannos Gutierrez, which is like a, what is it, Michael? It's like a, it's like kind of like a vibe, like an incense vibe. I'm sure you pronounce that completely wrong. it. It's kind of like a Spanish guitar. But the point is, it's giving vibes throughout the day to walk you through your day like a candle. No, but the point was to say is that the person that sets the vibes does bring a lot to the marriage. So Phil and I bring a lot to the marriage because we're curating your life. Yes, I'm saying you bring a lot to the marriage, but you're not the best in the marriage. I am. Okay. I'm so serious. No, I'm dead serious. Okay. I go above and beyond.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Okay, I'm the best because I'm letting you have that smell. And also what you do, Lauren is notorious. She'll come to the house. She'll make a disgusting mess all over the place. Because I like, I like making a mess and cleaning up. And then she will clean it all up. And then she'll look at me and be like, aren't you grateful? And I'm like, you just literally clean it.
Starting point is 00:44:57 It's your own mess. No, I love you. I love you. He's kind of leaning towards me on the foot. Guys, everyone's the best in their own special way. What is the secret to your relationship? What is the secret sauce? What do you guys both bring to the relationship that you think make it work?
Starting point is 00:45:12 Any tips for couples out there? I mean, maybe I could say what you bring. You could say what I bring. Okay. It's better. Like, Simon. This is dicey. Good luck.
Starting point is 00:45:20 No, I think, honestly, the keys, like, Simon brings, like, a ton of, you just have the best sense of humor. Like, he's the funniest person who ever met my life. And, like, you know, you think you'd get tired of it, like, eight years in, but, like, he keeps me on my toes. Like, even if I'm annoyed or angry or mad, like, you can just say the right thing that just, like, make me laugh.
Starting point is 00:45:37 Like, I cannot stay mad at him ever. It's so nice. That's really, really nice. Bill. You're welcome. I think that Bill, and this is going to sound like cheesy, but it's true. Like Bill has like the values of like the person growing up that I saw. Maybe in my dad, like he's just like a good person.
Starting point is 00:45:58 Like he's not, there's not a bad bone in his body. And I love that. Like I'm so attracted to like the human being that he is. I could be a little moody sometimes. No, but you're not. Like he's just innately like in. interested in surrounding himself with like nice happy people like there is no ulterior motive i think that's a huge compliment coming from simon because he has been around so much of yeah hollywood like
Starting point is 00:46:24 pr and i think that's a nice compliment coming from him especially yeah love you hopefully you have a list of things to fucking tell me about because that we're running out of time though yeah um okay before you go if people had to start with one of each of your products what are you starting with and I'm just going to say my two favorites real quick. The one that I would recommend is let me focus. That's the one that I ate the entire. You left it for us. It's your meaty.
Starting point is 00:46:49 I ate the entire bottle. It's so good. I have two or three at a time. Is that okay? Yeah, it's fine. I also, though, really do love how the vagina one tastes. Per is amazing. And I'm going to be purring all night from it.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Yeah, have a few more. Yeah. Michael wants me to like ingest the whole bottle. Yeah, perfect. Yeah. Could be the first one. And then for the candle, the croissant, you can't. can't go wrong. But also your pumpkin clab that you did with half baked harvest was the huge one
Starting point is 00:47:16 was in my house for so long. It was the perfect burning candle. So those are my wrecks. What do you guys recommend? For lemmy for me, I'm probably let me chill and let me curb and capsules because I have been battling like a sugar issue for so long that it's finally stopped my cravings. For sniff, like half big to harvest, the pumpkin smash candle is just all the cozy fall vibes. But there's another candle called Instant Karma, which is like one of my personal favorites. And it's like, she's perfect. She's perfect. It's like spicy, little bit of pear sweetness.
Starting point is 00:47:48 It's just like, it's amazing. You just sold me on that. Can we do a giveaway with both of the products? Obviously. Let's do a big, like what should we do? Like a big basket of. Yeah, whatever you want. A marriage between Simon and Phil's brands.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Yeah. I love it. Okay. So we're going to give away a basket of Lemmy and also sniff. All you have to do is follow both brands on Instagram and tell us. your favorite part of this eccentric, colorful episode
Starting point is 00:48:17 on my latest Instagram at Lauren Bostic. And then if you guys want to do a code, we didn't even talk about this. We sure do. Can we do code skinny on both? 100%. 100% done.
Starting point is 00:48:28 I'm going to go shop my, I'm going to go get some vagina gummies. You're going to be, you're going to be calling me the best wife. It's not like kind of fresh. Between the candle and let me purse. I'm going to be, you're done. My vibes are really going to be stunning.
Starting point is 00:48:44 Where can everyone find both of you guys? At Simon Huck on Instagram. At Pip the Rip the Rip on Instagram and at sniff. Well, www.com. And let me live.com. And this was so fun to do with both of you because you guys have never done an interview together and this was fun to get both sides.
Starting point is 00:49:04 I feel like it was a little bit therapeutic. I don't know, Simon was like, I think he was like nervous around me or something. Yeah. We should be couples therapists. We're going to go get the fried olives. Oh, my gosh. Do a fried olive candle. No, actually.
Starting point is 00:49:16 Honestly, we should. You didn't sprints do something? Like a pickle. They did a pickle one, yeah. Two things before you go. You can watch us now on YouTube. So you can go on YouTube, search the Skinny Confidential, and watch our entire episodes on your computer or TV.
