Starting point is 00:02:06 app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On Thanksgiving Day 1999, five-year-old Cuban boy Elian Gonzalez was found off the coast of Florida. And the question was, should the boy go back to his
Starting point is 00:02:22 father in Cuba? Mr. Gonzalez wanted to go home, and he wanted to take his son with him. Or stay with his relatives in Miami? Imagine that your mother died trying to get you to freedom. Listen to Chess Peace, the Elian Gonzalez story, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's your time to nominate a donkey of your own. Remember now, that's how they choose.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Call in now, 800-585-1051. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Charlemagne the guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Charlamagne is out, so we're opening up the phone lines to give donkey of the day to whoever you want. Claudia Jordan is here, our guest host. So let's go right to the phone lines. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:03:16 My name is Jennifer. Hey, Jennifer. Who you want to give donkey to? The people at Vassar's who got their ass whooped in Montgomery. They deserved it, though, didn't they? They did. And they own a gas station in Selma, Alabama. And I work at the hospital,
Starting point is 00:03:33 and they came in the hospital scared to death last night. Oh, you went over there last night? I'm actually working at Selma, Alabama. I'm a contract worker at the hospital. Oh, so you see some of the people come in there, and they were scared to death? They were scared to death. They called the police. They said, oh, everybody of the people come in there, and they were scared to death? They were scared to death. They called the police. They said, oh, everybody's in here.
Starting point is 00:03:49 They said what? Yeah, that's what they said. They said everybody what? Our in here. So you saw them at the hospital. Were they, like, a lot of injuries? Was anybody's teeth knocked out? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Like, one lady, it was three men and one woman. The woman had a fist print in her face, on the left side of her face, and it was huge. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was tickled, but I was thinking to myself, like, y'all deserved everything y'all got. You know, the messed up thing about it is, I mean, it is, I like that term, you tickle me too. You got a footprint. But then they come to the hospital. Now they're coming to the black nurses to get some help? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:04:29 And then they're looking at everybody like, oh my God, everybody's black. Everybody's a n***a. And then they call the police. And the police told them, hey, you either get treated or you leave. And they left. So you mess with black people. You're out of found out. Got your ass beat. Got a footprint in your forehead,
Starting point is 00:04:46 then you go to the hospital and you're like, oh, there's more of them here. The footprint on your face is crazy. Hello, who's this? Hey, this is Willie from Alabama. This is Willie from Alabama. Now, Willie, who you want to give donkey to? I want to give donkey today to the owner of Vestas Mini Mart
Starting point is 00:05:02 that came down here to Montgomery, Alabama and jumped on that dude who go by the name Dang Dang. Now, that's your friend, the security guard? Yeah, I know him personally. How's he doing? He all right. He's having good experience because everybody down here, we support him.
Starting point is 00:05:18 We definitely support him, man. So he's a security guard. How old is the brother? Dang Dang's got to be like 45 years old. So he's an older gentleman. They try to whoop? Dang dang, got to be like 45 years old. So he's an older gentleman. They try to whoop his ass. I'm so glad that people jumped on his ass so fast. Yeah, man, but we go through that all the time, man.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Is he on social media? He don't have no social media, but I can get him to call you guys. I need his info. What's his number? We're going to speak to him. Can you call him on three-way right fast? I can't call him on three-way real fast. He's one of those type of older dudes where you just got to pull speak to him. Can you call him on three-way right fast? I can't call him on three-way real fast. He the one type of alter dude where you just got to pull up on him.
Starting point is 00:05:49 He just always in the next room. You've got to pull up on him. Man, all right, Willie. We love him. Can you tell him we love him and we salute him? And I think he just inspired a whole movement of us sticking together. Absolutely. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:00 I got y'all on record. So as soon as I get off work, I'm going to go show it to him. Okay. All right. Well, we appreciate it. What's his name? My name is Willie from Montgomery, Alabama. Not you, Willie. I got y'all on record. So, as soon as I get off work, I'm going to go show it to them. Okay. All right. Well, we appreciate it. What's his name? My name is Willie from Montgomery, Alabama. Not you, Willie.
Starting point is 00:06:09 The man. The man that got. Oh, Dang Dang. Dang Dang. He's named Dang Dang. Dang Day or Nay Nay? Day Day as in dog dog or Nay Nay as in not not? Dang Dang.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Dang Dang. Oh, Bang Bang. Bang Bang with a B like boy? No, Dang Bang. Like Dang Dang. Dang Dang. Dang. D-A- B like boy? No, dang dang. Like dang dang. Dang dang. Dang, D-A-N-G? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:28 All right, well, salute to dang dang. All right, thank you, Willie. The market owner trying to say that he had nothing to do with it. He left. He's like, no, no, I walked away. I walked away. All right, well, we'll see. This video.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Hello, who's this? It's Suge. Suge, who you want to give donkey to? To them white people that jump at security guard and then tried to play the victim when the police came. Right? They were stripping. I'm just surprised more of them didn't get thrown into the water because I'd have been throwing them in the water like crazy. Hey, they was knocking them out though, so it's good.
Starting point is 00:06:58 It's good. You know what's funny? They was real bold with it when it was six on one to the poor brother, the brother by himself. But then when we pulled up, they were like, they want to get the back title in. They didn't want no smoke. And the gentleman. Yeah, now they scared. Now they scared.
Starting point is 00:07:09 And we traumatizing them. That's right. And the gentleman that picked up the chair, he wasn't a younger dude. He was an older man. He was getting busy with that chair, WWE style. Yeah, for real. It took me back to my childhood. I'm like, yeah, somebody get on the rope.
Starting point is 00:07:22 You know, speaking of that chair, I have a fun fact. On July 17, 1911, Nathaniel Alexander, a black man, patented the first folding chair. Yo, I found this fact last night on Black Twitter. I was dying laughing, so I'm going to post it on my IG. Lauren, good morning. Good morning. How you feeling, Lauren?
Starting point is 00:07:42 I'm good. I actually just got off work, y'all. Lauren, you're the woman that, you're from Alabama, correct? Correct. Now, you're the woman that filmed the whole thing. Right. So, you were filming from the boat. So, break down what happened.
Starting point is 00:07:55 You guys are on that boat. The boat's coming in. And you're seeing this altercation happen on the dock. So, explain everything that happened. Okay. So, we were, like, on the dock. We were waiting to get on, like, the ferry boat. Because we had a little thing. So explain everything that happened. The smaller boats were in the way. They were trying to move the boat. And the security, they called security, and basically they started unhensing the boat and moving it back.
Starting point is 00:08:37 And the guy, the white guy, went down there. You know, there was a lot of skin, foaming, stuff like that. And then the white guy just ended up hitting him and all of the people that was with him, I don't know if it was the white guy, the store, whatever.
Starting point is 00:08:49 But all of them jumped on him. I'm just, the Harriet is now like coming closer to the dock. So like, the crew members,
Starting point is 00:08:58 everybody saw it. But instead of them folks starting up there's something going on about their businesses, some of them blanked out out got back in
Starting point is 00:09:05 their boat just sat there so that's why we see the gentleman and not everybody's jumping off the boat it's because they saw them jump on this man and literally got on their boat like what's going to happen to them and that's why when the boat got close and they were able to leap over and one individual i think he was 16 years old he swam over while they were doing it. That's why they did that. That's why they, because, yeah. It literally, all he, all the city guard asked him to do
Starting point is 00:09:33 was to move his boat. And it went from there. Was the 16-year-old, was he on your boat that you were on? Did he jump off the boat you were on? No, no, he was on the Harriet. We were on the dock. Oh, okay. Waiting
Starting point is 00:09:45 to go on a smaller little like, you know, a surgeon where you kettle and you drink and, you know, party. Their boat couldn't come in either because their boats were in the way. So they asked them to move their boat
Starting point is 00:10:01 and for some reason, whatever the case might be, be decided to swing on the security of our wow lauren we lost you damn we lost lauren lauren was actually one of the people that actually filmed uh well one of the people that filmed the incident that happened in alabama eyewitness she's seen it all man i wish i was there now i want to i want to open up the phone lines i know we're supposed to talk about there now. I want to open up the phone lines. I know we're supposed to talk about some other things. I want to open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:10:28 If you've seen something like this happening to a gentleman that you didn't know, a brother out there getting into an altercation with some white folks, and white folks were jumping him, would you help? That is the question. 800-585-1051. I know a lot of you say, I would help, I would do it. But it's a little different. We're asking, would you help? 800-585-1051. Let's a lot of you say, I would help, I would do it, but it's a little different. We're asking, would you help?
Starting point is 00:10:46 800-585-1051. Let's discuss. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Pull out your phone. Call in right now. You call me. Add your opinion to The Breakfast Club topic.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Break it down. 800-585-1051. The Breakfast Club. Donkey of the Day is brought to you by the law office of Michael S. Laminsoff. Don't be a donkey. Dial pound 250 on your cell and say the bull if you've been hurt in a construction accident. That's pound 250 from your cell and say the bull. Had enough of this country?
