I forgive myself. It's okay. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best,
and you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.

Don't be out here acting like a donkey. or wherever you get your podcasts. Who's getting that donkey? That donkey. That donkey. Donkey. Donkey. Donkey. Donkey. Donkey of the day right there.
It's a breakfast club, bitches.
You can call me the donkey of the day, but like, I mean no harm.
Yes, donkey of the day for Monday, October 24th goes to Edwin Pedroza.
Edwin is 42 years old, and he's from New York City.
New York, New York.
I'm sure since COVID you've heard stories about how bad New York is.
Is the city safe? Is the city not safe?
You asked me, the answer is it's not safe.
Okay, I know New York's Mayor Eric Adams blamed the media for the perception of things like subway crime.
Look, man, I don't know about anything other than what I see and what I hear about. And it feels like Gotham needs a Batman right now.
And I can only imagine how out of control the holiday is going to be.
And if you think this story I'm about to tell you is going to make you feel better
about the crime in New York City, you are wrong.
Okay?
In fact, all it's going to do is reinforce the narrative that is already out there.
See, Edwin Pedroza has been arrested after allegedly fatally stabbing a man in New York City.
Now, if you are an individual who walks around with a knife for protection, then you are
thinking to yourself, well, I got to hit both sides because in some cases there is justifiable
reasons to stab someone.
Well, this isn't one of those situations.
Let's go to NBC News for the report, please.
Lucia Canella overcome with emotion late Wednesday after she says her 37-year-old son was stabbed
to death outside this Gowanus smoke shop,
a deadly encounter that a witness says began after the victim held the door open for his alleged attacker,
but never got a thank you.
The suspect responding with, I never asked you to open it.
He do something, I thought you can say at least thank you.
That's all he asked, say thank you.
He didn't say nothing more, but it's coming a fight.
And he lost. Now thank you. He didn't say nothing more. But it's coming to fight. And he lost.
Now I have my only song.
Surveillance video from inside the store shows the wild brawl.
That's the victim in white, identified by friends and family as Jay Nunez.
He and the suspect exchange blows, even continue fighting outside.
It felt like he got disrespected by the guy not saying thank you to
him we would have said thank you would have been none of that would have happened the last words
he was saying uh i got stabbed oh he stabbed me he stabbed me lord have mercy rest in peace to
jay nunez the man was stabbed edwin stabbed someone to death simply because the man wanted to thank you for holding the door.
Now, it's true. Edwin Pedroza absolutely didn't ask for anyone to hold the door for him.
And if you are doing something kind like that for a person, do it simply because that's the type of person you are.
OK, listen, in New York, it happens all the time. I'm from South Carolina, Moncks Corner, 843 all day.
My grandmother always told me manners will take you where money won't.
So when I walk in the room, I speak to everyone. I hold doors for people. I do all of that. And guess
what? Sometimes people say hi back. Sometimes people shake your hand. Sometimes they don't.
Sometimes people say thank you for holding the door open. Sometimes they don't. None of it,
I take personal because I don't do those things for any reason other than that's how I am. So I
wouldn't say to a person, why don't you say thank you? Actually, the only people I do that to is my kids. You know, you do something for your child, get something for your child or someone get something for your child.
And you say to your child, what do you say? Because that's teaching them manners.
Clearly, nobody ever did that to Edwin Pedroza as a child.
And at 42, you are never too old to learn. But I wouldn't be attempting to teach that old dog new tricks. But nevertheless, even if Jay Nunes asked Edwin to say thank you,
that interaction should not lead to someone being fatally stabbed.
OK, when you hear stories like this, then you understand why people in New York might be so rude.
OK, they mind their business because of people like Edwin Pedroza.
I tell you all the time, every day of our lives, we're just trying to avoid someone else's crazy.
We don't know what people are going through we
don't know what type of hurt what type of pain people are dealing with so sometimes it is just
better for everyone to keep to themselves because a kind gesture just interacting with someone in
that way can lead to your untimely desire demise please let me remind me ma give give Edwin Pedroza the biggest hee-haw. Hee-haw, hee-haw.
You stupid mother f***er.
You dumb.
Man.
Should you expect a thank you when you do things like that?
Yeah.
You should expect one?
When you do anything for somebody, yes.
I don't know.
I don't expect a thank you.
I do those type of things because that's just the type of person I am.
You hold a door, you expect a thank you.
Not really. I'm polite enough. If someone holds a hold a door, you expect a thank you. Not really.
I haven't even thought.
I'm polite enough if someone holds a door for me, I would say thank you.
Yeah.
And if the person doesn't say thank you, I'm not taking it personal.
I would say, you're welcome.
That's what he's saying.
Exactly right.
That's rude New York stuff right there.
That's just some rude New York stuff.
When someone don't say thank you, you just say, you're welcome.
Yeah, that's just some rude New York stuff.
I don't do that.
I just hold the door. The person walks through. If the person says thank you're welcome. Yeah, that's just some rude New York stuff. I don't do that. I just hold the door.
The person walks through.
If the person says thank you, cool.
If they don't say nothing, I'm great.
Because I'm not doing it for them.
I'm doing it because that's the type of person I am.
And the type of person I am, I say thank you.
Yeah, but I've seen y'all walk in a room and not speak to nobody either.
I speak to everybody.
Did you hold the door?
No, I'm just saying.
I'm not going to name any names, but I've seen people walk in the room
and there's complete strangers sitting in the lobby
and they don't say nothing.
You just keep walking.
Do they speak to you too and you just ignore them?
Why do you got to wait for them to speak to you?
I'm just saying.
Once again, it's all about who you are.
No, I'm just saying just because if someone you don't speak to
don't mean nothing.
Like if someone doesn't say anything to you,
you don't have to speak to every single person.
But if someone does something for you,
you should say thank you.
She's a rude New Yorker.
She's proving the point.
She is a New Yorker.
She's proving the point.
I don't think anybody purposefully ignores anyone, but...
So what's the question?
I would never ignore someone if they spoke to me.
If there's a person that owe you something,
if they hold the door for you,
are you owed a thank you?
I don't know if you're owed a thank you, bro. Yeah, you are. God damn right. I hold the door for you? Are you owed a thank you? I don't know if you're owed a thank you, bro.
Yeah, you are.
I hold the door for you. That's the worst
thing. I hold the door. I stop what I'm doing. I hold the
door for you and you walk through and don't say thank you?
So you're doing it because you want a thank you.
You're not doing it just because you're a nice person. I'm doing it because I'm
a nice person. I don't care about the thank you, but the
thank you is what's... Y'all gotta make up your mind.
You just said either you care about the thank you or you don't.
You just said you don't care about the thank you, bro.
I hold the door for everybody,
but the correct thing to do
is say thank you
when somebody does something for you.
I think it's rude if somebody,
if you do something for someone
and they don't at least say thanks.
Yeah.
I don't want a dollar.
I don't want a tip.
I just say thank you.
Good looking.
Appreciate you.
Acknowledgement.
I'm not tripping if you don't.
Don't sit there,
because a lot of people do it
like I'm supposed to do that.
Yeah.
Like I'm supposed to hold the door for you.
Like I'm supposed to be...
No.
I'm not tripping if you don't, though. I'm holding the door for you. Like I'm supposed to be. No, I'm not tripping if you don't though.
I'm holding the door for you because I'm a nice person. The Breakfast Club. athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going.
