I'm a homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everybody.
Give me that exclusive.
You know if you don't lie about that, right?
Lauren came in hot.
Hey, y'all, what's up?
It's Lauren LaRosa, and this is the latest with Lauren the Rosa.
This is your deli dig on all things pop culture.
entertainment news and all of the conversations that shake the room baby i feel like we haven't been
in studio for a while like we've been doing so much we were in philadelphia for the nirfolk delstate
game um Delaware state university one of course yes um and then we were in l a bay for the ebony
power 100 where i was honored as a media maven for what we do here on the latest with
learning the Rose of the podcast and also our work that we do over at the breakfast club.
So low riders, that is a congratulations and a shout out to you guys.
Because if I made the list, it's because of y'all.
So y'all made the list when we was outside.
And then we headed to D.C.
I did a live conversation with Marseille Martin for the HBCU First Look Film Festival,
which was an amazing conversation just about everything she's doing in the space of not just being
talent, but like creating, you know, television and movies.
And from a very young age, too.
I mean, she's actively doing it now.
But, I mean, with the movie Little and doing that with her family at nine years old and where she is now, super inspiring conversation.
I love being in the conversations with people that are doing things that I want to do that I am learning from.
But then following that, y'all, oh, I got a little hair somewhere, hair in my lip.
Following at Tamron Hall.
Drumroll, please.
Tamron Hall aired.
Um, yeah, so it aired live on, not live, but it aired on TV. It aired on ABC.
Uh, and then after that it also hit their YouTube channel so you guys will be able to, you know, go and check that out in full.
But I definitely wanted to take some time to talk about it in full and like just react on my experience here on the latest with Lauren the Roses.
So first of all, let me just say that it's just, it's fire for me to be in these spaces as a person that is like learning as I'm going.
So being in the newsroom, you know, it's a very different experience than what I'm experiencing now with the Breakfast Club.
And we've talked about this.
It's a big part of it is just like, you know, you guys get to know me a little bit more personally.
The story comes from me versus an outlet.
Even if it comes from Breakfast Club, it's me that you guys are hearing and seeing or censoring upon.
So all that has been like really new for me.
And there is good with the bad.
There is praise with the critique.
But it's also been a very different space for me because production-wise, like the Breakfast
Club as a radio show is so different than working in a newsroom where, you know,
there's like, it's like editorial.
And it's just, it's very different.
So being on the Breakfast Club and seeing the impact of it.
And I mean, when I say impact, like, literally it's changed my life in this last year,
year that I've been there officially but two years that I've been even associated with the brand
and I was on television in LA before so TMZ you guys know have their daytime in primetime evening
shows and then and we in a week and in a week and in the daytime they come on in between a lot
of the big daytime talk shows like I remember you know we us Wendy page six us I was at TMZ
for so long I when I talk about it I'm so used to talking about as if I'm still there but TMZ used to
come on and then there would be Wendy and then page six had a show at one point um and that was a lineup
and I remember you know Ellen was there and then Tamron Hall got her show and then Wendy left
and Sherry Shepard and all these things so to be um in a space now where instead of being as a part
of a conglomerate because you know of a brand right like TMZ is in that conversation and you know
gracing conversations with these shows it's like Lauren the Rosa was on the breakfast club that
I'm on the breakfast
Well that freaks me out still
I literally have days
I'm like y'all I can't believe I'm here
But also Lauren LaRosa on Tameran Hall
I'm just like wait what
I'm a guest on Tamara Hall
And the craziest thing is
Is that my goal
I said this
My first day on the breakfast club
That I wanted a show
God gave me the latest
With Lauren the Rosa
The podcast
And I remember
Doing the podcast
One of my biggest things
Was trying to figure out the video
And y'all know
has been a labor of love for us.
I promise myself after I left Tamara Hall that I was going to post more of my videos
and we're consistent.
Like we're here.
We're in the studio.
The studio looks great.
We're shooting.
But it's been such a different journey being the only person sitting and talking and
like it's my opinion, my voice, that's it.
Like I don't have Charlamagne to bounce off of or envy or just or like anybody else.
I'm not in live conversation with someone.
Like when I'm here, uh, not.
98% of the time every now and then we do have like guests you know very rarely it's me and I've
always wanted a talk show to be able to do that and then God gave it to me and I was like oh shoot
wait guys so you're saying like like people are just going to hear me like in this room and and
I've had a little bit of imposter syndrome so even with us uploading the videos like when I finally
get out of my own way and I upload them they do so well but a lot of the audience is always like
why you upload your video so late?
And I'm like, y'all, it takes me a lot to just get to the point where I want to post it
and want to deal with all of the, like, engagement, which is great.
You guys are commenting.
Y'all are opinionated.
Y'all agree.
Y'all don't agree.
It's great.
But I don't know why it's just been a very different journey for me because I've been asking for
this for a while.
So to be on Tamara Hall and to be there during a podcaster episode where she's literally
talking to me about things that we've done on the podcast, mainly the DiddyTri.
which was a big turning point for us and a big turning point for me independently.
I think, you know, being on the breakfast club, like I said, it elevated things.
But the Diddy trial and, you know, everything that has happened since then has been a very
different world of like, it's just me.
And that is very different.
It's like night and day.
It's also different than the newsroom because like even if it's just your opinion and it's
just your quick take, you know, you're speaking to an affiliate.
you have research to back you up, you have editors, you have, like, there's so much more that
goes into it before the world gets all of this stuff. And I have to think like that for myself.
Great thing to learn, because I was talking to Marse Martin in D.C. at Howard, and we'll have
that conversation here on the podcast. I'm going to get it to you guys this week so you can hear
it as well. And one of the things she was, you know, talking about to the students and honestly
to me I was listening was just about, you know, she uses her everyday experiences and her
voice and things she likes. She doesn't like her trials, her eras, you know, the hard time
people give her, not crediting her for certain things because she's so young and all the
ups to create the content and to know even what type of people she wants to work with
as she does it. And I was just listening to that. And then I went to Tamara Hall and I'm like,
girl, you got like, hello. Like the mic is on, sis. Is this thing on? The mic is on? The mic is on.
five million downloads like you got to stop you got to wake up like you and i'm not asleep at the
wheel but when i say wake up it's more like step into it like you're not an imposter you are here
you're driving this vehicle the show is here the people are tuned in what's you're going to do
about it besides step up and do what you're going to do what you say you're going to do and we're
delivering our episodes daily you know and everything as well on the audio side but video y'all has
been i've been like learning you got to do better you're going to do
better. And don't get me wrong, my audio listeners, I will always make sure I have audio only
exclusives for you guys, my little riders on the audio side, because y'all have been rocking
with me since day one. We ain't had no video. So I'm going to make sure I always do that. But
being on Tamara Hall just really motivated me to want to like get this out there more and also the
video aspect, but also just to hone my skills. Like I was watching her navigate throughout the
conversation. And, you know, the first thing, you know, when we sat down, she was just so
personable. So we sat down and I'm, the crowd is going like, because mind you, like, you know,
they're, they hiked the crowd up before the show starts. But when you walk out, it's just
you, the crowd and her. And the reaction, like, we had to wait a second for people to calm
down just for us to speak. And I'm like, man, like, all these people are here and excited for
me. Let's take a listen.
Welcome to the show, welcome to the show!
Oh, my God!
Okay, there's always in the house.
Oh, you're all beautiful.
How are you?
Welcome to the show today!
This was a banshee one.
Thank you for joining wherever you are,
watch this.
Hello, Kim!
I see you.
Wow!
Thank you so much for joining you.
Thank you so much for joining us.
Have us, La, thank you guys.
Al-A-Seed, Am-A-Slee!
I'm so excited about this show today.
Listen, y'all!
Y'all! Hey, dear, hey!
Honestly, listen, I am so excited about this show.
On the podcast, Health Stuff, we are tackling all the health questions that keep you up at night.
Yes, I'm Dr. Priyanka Wally, a double board certified physician.
And I'm Hurricane Dibolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled,
Do I have scurvy at 3 a.m?
On health stuff, we're talking about health in a different way.
It's not only about what we can do to improve our health,
but also what our health says about us and the way we're living.
Like our episode where we look at diabetes.
In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic.
How preventable is type 2?
or our in-depth analysis of how incredible mangoes are.
Oh, it's hard to explain to the rest of the world.
Like, your mangoes are fine because mangoes are incredible, but like, you don't even know.
You don't know.
You don't know.
It's going to be a fun ride.
So tune in.

On the latest episode of Next Question with me, Katie Couric,
I sat down with Bernie Sanders, who is 84 years old, has spent 34 years in Congress,
and he can still pack a rally with people a quarter of his age.
Denver, 34,000 people come out.
Salt Lake City, 20,000 people are huge turnouts.
People are really dissatisfied about the status quo.
His fighting oligarchy tour with AOC and other young progressives has become a movement,
but is his message too far to the left?
while he certainly doesn't think so.
Is that sound like a radical idea, Katie?
Is that too far left for you?
Okay, okay.
I get your point, Bernie.
We talk about the billionaire class, the cost of living,
and of course, the government shut down,
not to mention the current state of the Democratic Party.
To me, the failure of the Democratic Party
has been an unwillingness to recognize the relationship.

The forces shaping the world's economies and financial markets can be hard to spot.
Even though they are such a powerful player in finance, you wouldn't really know that you are
interacting with them.
And even harder to understand.
Donald Trump's trade war, 2.0, is only accelerating the process of de-dollarization,
which in a way is jargon for people turning away from the dollar.
That is where the big take from Bloomberg podcast comes in.
to connect the dots.
How unusual is a deal like this?
Unprecedented.
Every weekday afternoon, we dive deep into one big global business story.
The biggest story of the reaction of the oil market to the conflict in the Middle East is one of what has not happened.
Katie, you told me that ETFs are your favorite thing.
They are.
Explain that. Why is that the case?
And unpack what it means for you.
Our breakfast foods are consistent consumer staples, and so they sort of become outsized,
of inflation.

Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What do you get when you mix 1950s Hollywood, a Cuban musician with a dream, and one of the
most iconic sitcoms of all time?
You get Desi Arnest, a trailblazer, a businessman, a husband, and maybe most importantly,
the first Latino to break prime time wide open.
I'm Wilmer Valderrama, and yes, I grew up watching him.
Probably just like you and millions of others.
But for me, I saw myself in his story.
From plening canary cages to this night here in New York, it's a long ways.
On the podcast starring Desi Arnaz and Wilmer Valderrama,
I'll take you in a journey to Desi's life.
The moments it has overlapped with mine,
how he redefined American television,
and what that meant for all of us watching from the sidelines,
waiting for a face like hours on screen.
This is the story of how one man's spotlight lit the path for so many others,
and how we carry his legacy today.

Here we go.
Hey, I'm Cal Penn, and on my new podcast, Here We Go Again, we'll take today's trends and headlines and ask, why does history keep repeating itself?
You may know me as the second hottest actor from the Harold and Kumar movies, but I'm also an author.
a White House staffer, and as of like 15 seconds ago, a podcast host.
Along the way, I've made some friends who are experts in science, politics, and pop culture.
And each week, one of them will be joining me to answer my burning questions.
Like, are we heading towards another financial crash like in 08?
Is non-monogamy back in style?
And how come there's never a gate ready for your flight when it lands like two minutes early?
We've got guests like Pete Buttigieg, Stacey Abrams, Lili Singh, and Bill Nye.
When you start weaponizing outer space, things can potentially go really wrong.
Look, the world can seem pretty scary right now because it is.
But my goal here is for you to listen and feel a little better about the future.
Listen and subscribe to Here We Go Again with Cal Penn on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
And when you talk about things being such a good feeling, it's like,
You know, one of my biggest things, I feel like I prioritize, and I always say to myself,
and maybe I make myself a little anxious by saying this too is that as much as people are like saying,
hey, we love what you do and all the things, I want to make sure that, like, that's not making me be
comfortable.
Like, I still want to, like, go hard.
I still want to be inquisitive.
I still want to show up trying to learn.
I still want to, like, when I mess up, like, Lauren, you messed up, you got to do better.
like I just want to make sure that like now that people can see it and can hear and it's
tangible this you know this dream that I've had in my head for so long like what I would be doing
how I would be doing it's literally like I'm waking up every single day y'all and I swear I'm doing
exactly what I've always dreamed of doing right but because I'm here I just want to make
sure that like the quality stays here as well too the quality of the work um so
So, you know, I get emotional or got emotional there because, you know, it's just take you
a little while.
Like, I'm grateful every single day just to be able to pay my bills off of the things that I
love to do because there was a point in time where I was working so many other jobs.
I lived so many lives career-wise just because I was waiting for entertainment to pay the
bills.
So I'm just grateful for that as well.
But it's just like a, I'm really here doing this type of thing.
And I've always heard people speak about imposter syndrome.
and I had a friend to ask me one time, like, how do you get over that?
Because you're in a space now where you know what you want and you've demanded what you want
and you continue to and you know how you want people to deal with you and you know how to instruct
people on your team.
But I feel like as you walk into new doors and new levels and, you know, you're dealing with
different things, it creaked right on back up into you.
And I was watching myself on Tamara Hall and I realized, I'm like, you've been dealing
with a posture syndrome.
Like this conversation I had with Tamara Hall
And she actually brought up, you know, a good point of, you know,
just fighting your way into things.
And I don't like it when people use the bully in my way onto the breakfast club.
And that was, shout up to Carlos King.
That interview I did there, people always bring it up and always bring up that line.
And I know people bring it up because it's such a strong, like you feel it.
But I don't like it because, I don't know,
I just don't want it to sound like aggressive.
but I mean shoot I did keep showing up and didn't go nowhere and another thing too that I thought
was like really interesting with Tamron Hall was in real time I think I realized what my niche was
so me and Tamara Hall were talking about the Diddy Trial and she's talking about you know
because she's a seasoned journalist like she's been doing this for some time and she's talking
about, you know, what drew her to the platform.
And she found out about, you know, the latest with Lauren the Rose of the podcast during
the Diddy Trial.
And I have gotten a lot of critique about the fact that, like, I take you guys on a journey
with me.
I'm taking y'all to different events.
We're on the road.
I remember one episode I did literally from the car at the BET Awards because I needed
to get an episode in and I wanted it to be fresh right when I left the award show and
I refused to go to a studio and I refuse to do an Evergreen episode.
and, you know, but those episodes do so well for me.
And Tamara Hall brought up the fact that the reason why she locked into the podcast
and what made her realize like, oh, this girl has something,
was that raw, I'm bringing you with me, I'm barely edited,
let me tell you how I feel for real on top of put the story together with some facts.
Let's take a listen.
Listen, that's what I liked about your, and I like about your podcast.
It doesn't feel over-edited.
I feel like you're kind of saying, if I say it this way, I'm going to keep it this way.
and that's the authenticity of live reporting.
That's why I always liked live TV
because I used to tell me once it's out, it's out.
I can't get it back.
Yes, and it worked for me too
because people also didn't like it.
So now they're in the comments.
Oh, now we're getting to the juicy part.
Coming up, what could they not have liked?
Because I love it.
Lauren Larosa, after the break on her huge.
On the podcast health stuff,
we are tackling all the health questions

I don't know y'all my goal and going on the Tamara Hall show was like I want the world to see me in this space and be like baby girl need a talk show I want network execs to see me in this space and be like what are we developing and why haven't we considered Lauren the Rosa like that was my goal I have a vlog we were talking you know prior to this and I was telling you know my friends I had my friend Sharon Fontaine shared the beat who is a makeup artist
She was there.
She did my makeup.
Dante the hairstylist.
Dante the hairstylist did my hair.
Shout out to Diggy Dig on Instagram, who was the assistant stylist, Jvon James, who's my lead stylist.
There as well.
And of course, Patrick Naree on the Kim.
And all those names that I've said, Patrick is relatively new to the team, but he's been working
up with us since the podcast launched.
But all those names that I've said to you guys, I've known these people since I was like 12, 13 years old.
And we have always been doing this.
Sharon has been doing my makeup since I was modeling back in Delaware, like in high school,
middle school.
Dante has been doing my hair forever.
I've known Diggy and Jvonne and we, you know, we work together in the fashion space and
like, you know, always been putting together my outfits and my looks for different things
and photo shoots and I've been, you know, amused of theirs for some time.
So to be backstage with them, number one, that was emotional for me as well because it's such
a big moment. It's like, yo, we've gone from it. And Jayvon James, who is my lead stylist,
his mom was actually there with us as well. She came to see the show. And there's a moment in
the vlog where she says, like, literally, I'm trying to get my words together to react after I
filmed. And she says, I don't know what you're emotional for it. We always knew this was going to happen.
And that got me. Oh, my God, I started bawling. Because it literally, like, I've always known that this
was going to be what I was doing. So to see it happen, just watch. You break down.
And it's just great to be doing it with people that, like, you've always been practicing doing
it with. Like, you know, I do believe that, like, you do got to meet new people along your journey
and, you know, bringing new people and new ideas sometimes. But I've been blessed to be surrounded
by people who have new ideas and who have passion and who are elevating. And they've been my tribe
before, and we've been doing this together or dreaming about these things together for a very
long time. So, you know, it was just natural for me to be like, oh, wait, I could put them on
payroll. Come on. Let's do it. But yeah, I was back there and I'm backstage and I'm telling
them, this is how I want to look. Like, my vision for this is when those 10 bam, when those
Tam fam doors open and you see Lauren the Rosa walk out, I wanted to give, I have arrived. This is
my show. Sorry, Tamara, and I ain't taking a job, girl. But I wanted you to feel that.
And, like, there were so many people who watched it and just, you know, the story resonates
with them. But also, I think, you know, we accomplished that goal visually, which was, for me,
it's like everything with purpose. Like, I don't want to be anywhere where I don't understand
why I'm there in accordance to my purpose and my alignment from God, like, ever. Like,
no matter what I'm going through, whatever. Listen, I always want to be like, all right,
okay, God. Why? Why am I here? What am I getting from this? What is it that you, I say that
prayer before I start anything like, God, I just want you to speak through me. I want people to
see and feel you through me. Let's go. Like, let's, you know what I mean? And whatever comes
from this, whatever opportunity, I'm grateful for it already. And if nothing comes from it,
I'm just grateful to be here and be in conversation. And I thank you for, for, for every,
everything thus far.
So that's always, you know, one of the goals.
And I think that we accomplished it.
And it's, it's been a very successful reaction.
So if you guys have checked out the podcast, I'm sorry, if you've checked out the full
episode, please let me know how you're feeling.

But I want to know how you're feeling.
I got the meat, Blue's Clues.
What's his name?
The host from Blue's Clues.
y'all i was backstage because they told me it was a podcaster episode where basically she was
spotlighting people who work in entertainment but have podcasts that like are like center between
like people and like entertainment so like kind of like vlogish but like entertainment and like very
like i guess all podcasts are people based but that are reaching people per se steve burns what is that
spell his last name okay it's steve burns i got to meet him steve burns yes i was backstage
And we were waiting to go because I was the top of the show.
So I was the first, the first segment, right?
And I look up and I'm like, is that the guy from blues?
And we're all looking at them.
And everybody wanted to say it.
And everybody wanted to ask for a picture, but we were all nervous to.
Because, you know, sometimes when you meet a kid, like, kid, like, not kid, because
he was a grown man, but he appealed to kids.
He was a generational, like, talent that spoke to children.
And a lot of times when you meet people who, like, have worked in that space forever,
and now years have passed
that are doing other things
they don't want to relive that
they don't want to be known as just that
so I didn't want to go up to him
be like oh my god blue schools
can we take a picture
do you save the t-shirt
but he was cool
and I did ask
I did ask before I took the picture
like hey is it good if we take a picture
but it was exciting to hear about his journey
as well to end meet him backstage
so yeah shout out to Tamara Hall
and the team over there
I just wanted to give you guys
a little bit of insider
like behind the scenes
and well I didn't even mention how the moment came about um the moment came about very organically so
you know it's crazy I had actually been working in like the publicist like marketing space so
whenever I am without work it's a natural thing for me to just be able to like help people build
something or tell a story in some way and they pay me for so that is how I was sufficing when
Breakfast Club wasn't able to pay me at the time and the guest hosting was happening and I was
out of TMZ, just moved to the New York, had rent, you know, I've been doing some things with ESPN
and Escape, writing wise, and that came to full stop. I was like, all right, bet, time to get the hustle
on. So I had a couple of brands that I was working with in the marketing and PR space and I was
pitching a client, Devin Loves Numbers. He is an amazing kid genius. Shout out to Devin Love's Numbers
and their team, I've been pitching him for all the talk shows.
Jennifer Hudson, Sherry Shepard, Tamara Hall, and I have friends at all these shows, right,
from EP to producer to AP, like, easy phone calls, easy text.
And, you know, we were able to land some things.
But in the midst of that conversation, the podcast drops.
So in the midst of this conversation, you know, the breakfast club, you know,
stuff is happening.
I get back on to the breakfast club.
all the things happen the podcast drops and one of my homegirls who works with the Tamara
Hall show she's a producer over there hits me up and she's like hey I've been pitching you for
the show a lot of us over here I've been pitching you we want to get you on the show we're
just trying to make it work and there were a couple days that were thrown at me dates that were
thrown at me didn't work out and I'm like they're not interested like it's not really much
for me to talk about yet like she has like real celebrities on her show like what am I
going to talk about you know what I mean and and that's again the the producer
news desk girl in me is like you are not the story um which is I feel like it's a great
attitude for me to keep in what I do like I got to balance the two but I got to get away from
this imposter syndrome um but yeah so they came back again with another date and I'm like oh they're
serious like they really want me to do the show and we I mean it happened and after I wrapped
the two producers one is still there one is not there anymore she's formerly a producer of Tamara
Hall reached out to me and was like, do you know how epic it is that last year around this time
you was banging out our door trying to get your clients on? And now they're like, we need to have
her on this show. And not only have you on the show, but we need to lead the show with her.
We need to have this conversation. I've been watching the podcast. I've been watching the
ditty updates. This needs to happen. And I'm like, man, you just never know what is in store for
you. Like, never. And that's why I always want to stay head down doing the work. Like, I
I want to make sure that that is my, like, model.
Like, if you don't know nothing else about me ever in my career,
I want people to be like, nah, but she showed up the work, though.
That girl be working.
That is literally what brown girl grinded is.
Like, nah, that girl be grinding, though.
Like, she'd be hustling.
I want, and now that I'm maturing in this space and getting to know what I want,
you know, what things I want to be attached to and what conversations I want
attached to me, I want it to be with substance, of course.
Like, I don't want to be, like, busy going nowhere.
But, imposter syndrome kicks.
it pretty often.
At the end of the day, guys,
there's always a lot to talk about
and you guys could be anywhere
with anybody talking about this
but you choose to be right here with me.
