because behind the scenes of the ground. I am literally headed out to a fashion week show right now. I mean, well, wait, maybe we do get behind the scenes of the grind. Let's do it real quick. I got the time. I'm literally headed out right now to a fashion show. Shout out to New York Fashion Week and the kickoff of New York Fashion Week that started here Thursday, September 10th, and it is going to carry on until next week. I've been out and about ripping and running

after we do the podcast, after we do the Breakfast Club all week. I'm headed to Romeo Hunt's fashion show. He is a black designer, black male designer. Romeo Hunt is one of the designers that actually dressed me a lot when I was covering the Diddy Trial. And I, you know, it's weird.

got pushback for that a little bit. Like people were like, you're so focused on the outfits. You're not focused on the job. And for me, I felt like if I looked good and I felt good going, I'll be comfortable about being able to turn on my phone, place it up and cover these things that I was literally seeing and real time with you guys. Like, that's always been my attitude. If you look good, you feel good and you operate good.

And it worked. I mean, a lot of you guys tuned in here on the latest with Lorna Rosa, the podcast for the ditty trial. I mean, people all the time who tell me that, like, you know, you know, you know, outside of breakfast club, they really started paying attention to me as an independent voice in media and storytelling and recapping from Diddy's trial. And Romeo Hunt was a big part of that because they provided the looks that, you know, I was wearing. And don't get me wrong, like the trial was no joke. There was a lot of things that

were involved in a trial, a lot of like dark negative things actually. So, you know, if all I could do that day to kind of like up my spirit and try to give me some energy was make sure that like I felt good about walking into the courtroom, I felt confident about, you know, coming on air and talking to you guys, I appreciated it because, man, that eight weeks kicked my behind. I don't know how attorneys do it. I was exhausted. My voice was gone. Every days I had to take literally like mental days of like, I just, I can't do all this right now because of, you know, some of the allegations and the evidence we were seeing. It was a lot. But I appreciate and I say all that to say I appreciate Romeo Hunt. So whenever he has something here in New York City or wherever, I try and show up for him because

his brand shows up for me, and that is the importance of supporting up-and-coming creatives, up-and-coming talent, especially if you listen, I'm a black woman. I support black designers like no other. Romeo Hunt being one of my favorites. So today he's showing at Fashion Weeker. We're headed over there to do that. But that leads us, honestly, right into the latest. We're going to get right on into it.

Because speaking of black designers, black creatives, black artists, up and coming, already coming, already there, whoa, pause. I don't know if I should have said that part of it, but speaking of us, I want to tell you guys about a company, an organization, a movement that I love that has become my family. It's Harlem's fashion role. You guys will remember last year I talked a lot about this event and about this organization and the kickoff show that they do because we also attended their style. Awards gala in their fashion show last year.

But we kicked off Fashion Week there again this year, and it was amazing. Harlem's Fashion Row centers and focuses on highlighting designers of colors. Color, they partner with brands. There's a nonprofit arm. You know, there was a designer who I actually had the chance to wear that was awarded $100,000 the night that we attended this, you know, Gala Award show and fashion show that I'm going to be talking to you guys about tonight. Her name is Juana or Wana Chancey

and Artillery Indigo is her brand. And she showed her spring summer 2027 collection while at the Harlem's Fashion Rolls Style Awards and Gala to kick off fashion week that we attended. But she was also awarded a like almost like a scholarship of $100,000 that she can now sew back into her business, which is so needed and a lot of designers of color don't get those type of opportunities.

So Harlem's Fashion Row, you can't tell me nothing about them. Shout out to Brandis. Shout out to Brandis Daniel, who is the creator and founder of Harlem's Fashion Row and all the work that she is doing out there to keep us-centered conversation because we are, as we know, the inspo, the creators, and the beginning of the things. But let's get into the night. You have Brandon Blackwood. He was named as the designer of the year. This is the 19th year that they have done the Harlem Fashion Row Style Awards and Gala. Brandon Blackwell, for those of you guys who do not know, is a designer who specializes in handbags.

And watching his come up has been amazing. He's one of those people that really took a chance embedded on himself. And now he's on these big stages. So it was amazing to be able to be there and see him and witness that. But then we also had Jalil Weaver. Now, a lot of you guys may not know Jalil Weaver by name, but I'm telling you, you know him by his fashion sense and his work. Because he is Rihanna's stylist. And, I mean, Rihanna kills it every time.

time pregnant, not pregnant. But one of the things that people point to most is how Rihanna literally changed the conversation around pregnancy fashion and how women do it. Jalilil Weaver is at the helm of that. He was named stylist of the year this year at the 19th annual Harlem's Fashion Row Style Awards and Gala. Let's take a listen to his speech. Okay. Hello. Thank you, everyone. Thank you, Ronald's Passion for this incredible honor. I accept this is more with immense gratitude, but also the feeling that there is still so much ahead of me. So much more to learn, so much more to create, so much more need to be able to contribute because the work is continues. And often the work that is the most is that we've mentioned by the people who have mentored and grown away from the

period that thought would mean ever since. And the number of the principle are ready to meet, and there are many people I have to think for that. So much the work that I shaped me, that I extended my creativity and my understanding. You gave me an opportunity that changed the course of my life, the trust you placed in me, and the freedom gave me to create a validation that's been amongst one of the greatest guests in my career. And usually, my best friend, my different pairs, just to present me this award. Four years ago when I decided to venture out of my own and start my own company. We're there from the very beginning.

He believed in me enough to become my first client. So thank you. So we're always good at your team. And they were right. I'd like to thank you here. And Tracy Ellis Ross was there, one of our favorite girls. She was there talking about her brand pattern beauty. But more importantly, Tracy Ellis Ross is somebody that shows up for us. I've seen her. I've never met her, really, but I've seen her at the Harlem's Fashion Row event.

Both years that I was there, she shows up for them in really, really big ways. And that matters. When you are a celebrity with influence, with platform that people look at, who you stand next and what you stand on and what you care about and what you voice really, really matters. And what I love about Tracy Ellis Ross is that she does it without even needing the recognition. She does it because she understands from like a real deep place in her soul. And we support her pattern beauty and all the things that she's doing because she's always supporting us.

But she spoke. She opened up the gala. Let's take a listen. So, so we're here tonight. As Brandis said, and I've been a part of this community since 2013, which is just a very much. I received the icon award. That was just yesterday in 2015. But 2015 is a long time ago.

I took part of the Frontland's Ash Road during the digital events in 2020 when we were sheltered in place. And I have an honor of presenting the editor of a year award to my best friend is here in 2004. And boy, is it nice this event in this room. It's so wonderful, but tonight I am here. Now when we talk about Brandis, I'm going to tell you guys right now, it is sometimes hard to find, you know, people who understand you as a new and growing creative.

Brandis is somebody that me and her, you know, we connected in passing and got a lot more acquainted when I actually worked with Harlem's Fashion Roll last year during Fashion Week as an influencer. And she has been so supportive. When I went to the, the 2026 BET Awards, that black dress that you guys saw me in, that a lot of people love. that was a black designer that, you know, Brandis, if it wasn't for Brandis in Harlem's Fashion Row, I would not have known about this designer. Megan Renee, literally I met her through the organization. And that is what Harlem's Fashion Row was all about and paying it forward. And I was actually blessed to be a walking, literally walking ambassador for the Susan G. Coleman Foundation,

which are, you know, they are leaders in breast cancer when it comes to patient care, research, and just resources. I was wearing a t-shirt, Don't Failed the Girls, that goes live September 21st. If you order it, you'll get it just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and all the proceeds, of course, go back to the organization and the work that they're doing.

But Brand just wanted to make sure that, especially black women, knew that one and eight women are affected by breast cancer, right? And it's getting, you know, as we get closer to our 50s, it gets even worse. 40% of black women who are affected by breast cancer, don't survive it.

We are disproportionately affected by breast cancer. So there was a push. There was a charge. And I was so happy to be a part of that. Y'all know my story. My mom is a cancer survivor, not breast, lung and brain. But it is really a journey. The cancer fight is a journey,

and it's a blessing to be able to make it through it and come up on the other side of it. And we want to see more people doing that. So, yeah, I was literally a walking ambassador for the Susan G. Coleman Foundation and got to, you know, premiere the T-shirt there for them. but Brandis had a opening speech of the night where she talked a bit about the work that she's doing and mentioned some of the work that we were blessed to be able to do with Susan G. Coleman that night.

Let's take a listen. I've been pushed out of corporate America this year. And it may be a big thing. I have to eat in somebody. So the one thing that we all have the time is this. We all believe that the branders of color matter. Today. All the world, get on the girl's urge in this industry.

You're well-up. You didn't know, this is me. This right here is family. On your table, and I actually want you guys to do this, just say, hey, brother. There's a code. This is our TC, herd, funded, and skinned.

And years later, I still believe it. Maybe even more. You didn't know. didn't know when I started this. It is that you don't have to build everything overnight, any chaos, or a break. You can build a peace.

Peace by beat. That is our game tonight. Peace by piece. One piece at a time. And I'm going to pretend that every year because playing with God, it tested us in. But guess what? We're still here, and I can finally see

with all those individual pieces that built. In this room, in our grandfurtors, in our designers, in all of you.
