Had enough of this country?
Ever dreamt about starting your own?
I planted the flag. This is mine. I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete.
Or maybe not.
No country willingly gives up their territory.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
Listen to Escape from Zakistan.
We need help!
That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series,
The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more.
After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast
Post Run High is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into
their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together.

As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions,
but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself.
It's okay.
Have grace with yourself.
You're trying your best.
And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.

Hey, y'all.
Niminy here. I'm the host
of a brand new history podcast for kids
and families called Historical
Records.
Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates,
and John Glickman,
Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop.
Flash, slam, another one gone.
Bash, bam, another one gone.
The crack of the bat and another one gone.
The tip of the cap, there's another one gone.
Each episode is about a different, inspiring figure from history.
Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing.
Check it.
And it began with me.
Did you know, did you know?
I wouldn't give up my seat.
Nine months before Rosa, it was called a moment.
Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise.

Muhammad Ali, George Foreman,
1974. George Foreman
was champion of the world.
Ali was smart and he was handsome.
The story behind the Rumble in the Jungle
is like a Hollywood movie. But that is only
half the story. There's also
James Brown, Bill Withers, B.B.
King, Miriam Akiba. All the biggest
black artists on the planet.
Together in Africa.
It was a big deal.
Listen to Rumble, Ali, Foreman, and the Soul of 74 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The morning show, you love that.
I get more nervous in this room than anywhere else.
It's on your radio right now.
Do you know how to pop that coochie for a game?
There you go. It's the world's most dangerous morning show. Got how to pop that coochie for a girl? There you go.
It's the world's most dangerous morning show.
Got the cameras, I'm out of here.
I agree.
What kind of show is this?
My son listens to this show.
The Breakfast Club.
With DJ Envy.
The captain of this bitch.
With Angela Yee, the only one who can keep these guys in check.
With Charlamagne Tha God.
I'm a lovable asshole.
And this is The Breakfast Club, bitches.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ and D'Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We got a special guest in the building.
Yep.
Mr. Kevin Lyles.
Hey, brother.
How are you, man?
Good morning, sir.
Kevin Lyles just did 10 deals while he was sitting here right now.
Kevin inspires me because he's a well-off individual.
We all know that.
A lot of money.
Don't put his money out there like that, but he does.
But he still hustles like an intern.
Absolutely.
As an executive, I see Kevin everywhere.
I could be in New Orleans having brunch, and there's Kevin.
I could be at the Ween Awards.
Hampton, Virginia.
Yeah, exactly.
Y'all remember that?
Why, Kev? I got to be in the street. I don't know. Hampton, Virginia. Yeah, exactly. Y'all remember that? Why, Kev?
I got to be in the street.
I don't know.
I came up there.
I think there's kids not getting mentored and not getting talked to,
not getting told to do the right thing.
And I don't know how not to do it
because that was told by me, by Russell and Leroy.
You know what I mean?
So I got to be there.
And I think I'm from the street
and I'm about the people.
So what I do care about is making sure that I'm standing by the culture.
I'm applauding you.
I'm celebrating.
Yeah, I told you guys did a great job with the election.
But more importantly, that's the growth of the Breakfast Club.
And coming to a city, oh, the Breakfast Club here now.
And then I say, okay, well, she's doing this.
And I see Emmy with me last night.
And I see Charlamagne and me and him texting back and forth about things.
That, to me, is what I'm excited about.
And you guys are with me whether I'm doing records or sharper than pencils.
And so that to me was exciting.
When you see kids that have potential that want to be artists, right,
what do you think are some of the main things that they need to know as fundamentals
of what they need to be doing in order to get recognized and get better,
get on the radio, have people come to their shows? Like what are some things that really need to be doing in order to get recognized and get better, get on the radio, have people come to their shows?
Like, what are some things that really need to be worked on?
I think, you know, again, the barrier entry is not there anymore.
Everybody can be what they want to be.
I don't care.
You don't have to go rent a camera from somebody.
You can use your phone and create your own story.
So I think all that's excuses when people say,
oh, I can't do it or I can't get to this. I don't have any
money to get in the studio. All that's
excuses. I need somebody to film this for me. I can't do a video.
Excuses to me. I say, get hot. Because
when you get hot, I'm going to find you.
You know what I mean? You don't have to come to me when you're not hot.
I got people who say, well, this is my city. I go
to the city and the club ain't playing
at 1, 2 o'clock in the morning. Nobody's spilling
drinks. The girls ain't around you.
I got more girls around me. I ain't even popping bottles. You know what I mean? So to me, I just don't believe the morning. Right. Nobody's spilling drinks. The girls ain't around you. I got more girls around me.
I ain't even popping bottles.
You know what I mean?
So to me,
I just don't believe it.
I think now the barrier
entry is open.
Do you get out
if you're an artist,
an athlete?
Just do you, man.
The opportunity is there
for every single person.
Everybody knows my story,
but I'm from Baltimore.
I wasn't meant to be
the president of this
and the CEO of this.
I was supposed to be dead
or in drugs, on jail.
Period.
You know what I mean?
So don't give no excuses to me.
Do you think you'd have been bigger than what you are with all this technology that's available now if you had that back then?
Man, I'd be the president of the United States.
Listen, and the funny thing about it, that's why I'm back in it like that.
That's why you're going to see me around more than ever.
That's why I'm going to come spend more time with you guys.
And that's why we're going to be moving. Here's what's not
going to happen. We're not going to have
another election where
7 million people that voted in 2012
don't vote. We're not going to have another election
where 46% of the people
that were eligible to vote didn't even get out
and vote. That we ain't doing no more.
So I'm pushing people in the same
way that I'm always going to do with culture
I'm pushing people and holding them responsible
I told Trump's people listen
At the end of the day I'm going to hold you accountable
You're going to give me a seat at the table
I'm going to take a seat at the table
And you will hear from our culture
And you will be responsible to our culture
I really want to take time
To say a lot of people
Can interpret us being
Awake because we woke up.
But you're not awake until you ring the alarm for somebody to have faith
in being everything that they can be.
You're not awoke.
If you're not changing somebody else's life, if you're not inspiring people,
people call and they're really lost when they talk to you.
You know, they really feel like, how can I find my way?
And even last night, your set was different from everybody's set.
You know, that was your crowd when you went on.
This knucklehead over here, you know, Charlamagne, you know, people, as much as people might say, he puts it straight to you.
He makes you tell your truth, you know, because a lot of people call him bullshit.
You know what I mean?
So he makes you tell your truth.
So I really, really applaud you.
And please just continue to support me and all the efforts that we're doing.
Angela giving away coats this weekend.
I told her I want to do something special with her.
Close to kids in Detroit.
In Detroit.
So whatever you guys are doing, we're here to support each other.
So make sure you go out and support us.
And, again, I love you guys.
All right, we got more with Kevin Lyles when we come back.
Keep it locked.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club. Kevin Lyles is in the building.
I did want your OG wisdom on one thing, just to expound on it.
How do we move forward after this presidential election?
I think instead of having
town hall meetings during
an election season, we need to have them now.
We need to start mobilizing,
communicating, talking about the
importance of not just getting out
the vote, but what does the vote mean? I think we forgot.
I really think we got comfortable
and complacent by having a black
man in the White House for eight years.
Oh, eight, big turnout.
Twelve, not that big of a turnout.
And then you had a social movement with Bernie Sanders that was going against the establishment.
People just don't want the establishment anymore.
So what we have to do is establish new rules of engagement, new younger people getting involved.
The 30 years old changed the world. 32 years. The 30 years old changed the world. 32
years old, 35 years old changed the world.
Every one of us have to use our God-given
gift and our freestyle
opportunity to engage other people.
Like, I'm holding people accountable now.
I'd say people doing all this mannequin
and all that stuff. I'd say, how many of y'all voted?
You know, people out here going to all these parties.
And they froze.
People out here going out to all these parties, standing in line to buy $200, $300 tennis shoes.
And did you vote?
Right.
Did you tell somebody that, hey, it's important for you?
Just think about people dying for just the right.
You know what I mean?
I watched this movie the other day.
And even though you had the right to vote, you got people standing there telling you you can't vote.
And now you got people saying, hey,
treat them like we used to treat them. Back in the day,
we wouldn't allow this, but we're sitting here
allowing it. And I'm not saying it's not about
revolution. It's about evolution.
Understand what happened, and now let's make
a plan and a course of action.
And I'm doing it. Everywhere I go, everybody's going to know
how I feel about it. And we're going to have to mobilize,
centralize communication,
start having conversations right now.
We could have won the election
as Democrats if we would have
did the right thing. I think a lot of
people made a lot of mistakes
and a lot of assumptions. Just because
your husband is a former president
and everybody loves him,
just because you are the most qualified
person in the history
of politics since I've been alive to be able to run for office and you don't get elected,
there's something wrong.
But we are the problem.
I want you guys to understand what Trump did.
Trump said, you're talking middle right, I'm going to talk way left.
I'm going to feed on people's insecurity and their fears,
and I'm going to make sure.
And these are things that happen.
It's in history.
He empowered the powerless.
He said, you know what?
Just like Barack awoke African-Americans,
I'm going to go awake some other people.
And those people came out in droves.
Hillary didn't even win the white female vote.
That's crazy.
People that were mad that Barack Obama
was president for eight years.
No, this is what I'm saying.
So you can't take it for granted.
You can't take life for granted anymore.
You just can't.
If you guys don't evolve, you're not going to be here anymore.
If I don't evolve, why you see me out there?
I'm getting next to the hot boy that's saying, yo, what we doing?
I mean, he got to tell me.
And I ain't in it like I used to be, but you're definitely going to see me out there.
So I got to be next to that energy, that energy that feeds me
every single day.
And that's why I'm coming
with different campaigns
and God bless,
you know, hopefully revising
and say, man,
that freestyle event we did,
we want to do 10 of them.
Hey, we want to do it next year.
And we're going to start
giving awards to people
who freestyle that way.
I'm hoping it turns
into something even bigger.
My final question,
what the hell's up with Trey Songz?
Where's Trey?
Trey just shot five videos.
He's putting out a little movie. We shot a movie, Final question. What the hell's up with Trey Songz? Where's Trey? Trey just shot five videos.
He's putting out a little movie.
We shot a movie.
But I wanted to take some time off because we did it for seven years.
It was great.
Sometimes you got to walk away from it.
And here's the great thing about it.
Like I said last night, you find a way.
You nurture a way. And sometimes you just got to get out of the way to see if somebody's there.
Ain't nobody there.
We back.
Damn it, man.
I agree.
Remember when Trey was the doll in the radio?
He did all the shows.
He did a movie.
All over the playlist.
I'm like, where the hell is Trey now?
Yeah, we did a movie.
We did a thing with Kevin Hart.
This is one of our friends.
We did that record.
We shot a movie that's coming out next year.
The album's done and everything.
We shot the videos last week.
And he celebrated his birthday, you know, on Monday.
You know what I mean?
So it's all good.
Happy birthday, Trey.
Well, we appreciate you for joining us.
Always.
Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin Louse.
Thank you, guys.
God bless you.
The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club. Special guest in the building this morning, everybody. It's DJ MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club.
Special guest in the building this morning, Miss Regina Hall.
You're really fine in person, damn it.
Oh, thanks.
See, you waited to tell me that on air, so now I'm all good.
Yeah, I mean, I knew you were fine on TV, and we always look at your pictures like,
damn, she's fine, but no, you're really fine in person.
We actually both saw her at the...
Bless her a little bit.
But not only is she attractive and talented, but also funny with a good personality.
As we've seen you display time and time again.
Yeah, you gave a great speech.
What was that?
The Wien Awards.
The Wien Awards.
Oh, y'all were at the Wien Awards?
I had gotten into a really bad car accident on the way there.
I had to get Roxy hers.
Oh, that's right.
But I still showed up, but I was real disheveled.
Is that when you got a call?
Yes, by a bus.
Did you sue?
No, no, no.
We took care of it.
The insurance took care of it.
It wasn't that bad.
It just had me in real trouble.
I would have still been maimed.
You damn right.
She said I would have been maimed.
Get that money.
Why not?
Now, the new movie, When the Bough Breaks.
Tell us about this movie.
Are you going to go see it?
I feel like they keep making the same movie every two years. I ain't asking you all that.
I didn't ask him none of that.
That was a yes or no.
You could have even said maybe. I posted a nice
gif of you. Now you gotta go.
You did? Thank you. Of you crying.
You know what? You've been going to see the
same superhero movie. I bet you saw
Captain Evil and Iron Man
and Superman and Iron Man and Superman
and Superman 2
and Superman vs. Batman
and Batman hit Captain America.
Like, these movies
all got the same plot lines.
Wait, wait, hold on.
Do you know what the plot line is?
Crazy Boyfriend, Crazy Man.
No, that's not what happens
in this movie.
That's actually not what happens.
That is true.
That is not what happens.
Explain to the people
what the movie's about.
Are you gonna go see it? Not. Are you going to go see it?
Not really.
I'm going to go see it.
That's why they can't get more black movies made.
This is it.
Black people don't support black movies.
First of all, y'all don't have no dates.
You got a ring.
I'm not a wife.
I got five kids.
I hope your wife takes you to see it.
You can see it just because he claims that he looks like Morris Chestnut.
Who claims that?
Who claims that?
First of all, I don't claim that, nut. Who claims that? Who claims that? I don't claim that, okay?
Who claims that?
Who said it?
Do you look like Morris?
Let's clear this up right now, Bettina.
Just do you look like Morris Chestnut?
Let me look.
Hold on.
Do it again.
Do it again.
Let me see if it changes something.
Let me put some lotion on.
Tell us about the movie, please.
Okay, so When the Bough Breaks,
which everyone here is going to see,
it's actually not what you
think, and it's not the tenth time
it's been made, but it's actually a thriller.
It's about a couple who's been struggling with fertility,
which is a really big...
Well, he don't want to see it because he got five kids.
You can't even understand
the plot line.
But this is about the woman, in this case,
that's struggling with infertility.
So they decide to hire a surrogate.
Is that something you would ever consider?
Like in real life?
Would I hire a surrogate?
Yeah.
I guess.
Not after this movie. You know, she, I know.
Laura, who I play, she's had three miscarriages.
So she's tried to carry her own child.
Gotcha.
And she just hasn't been able to.
That would be something I'm concerned about, though, if you get a surrogate.
Oh, I thought you were going to say that's something I would do.
No, I'm just saying you're getting attached to the child.
That's just natural. That's just a natural thing to do.
See, that's true. But actually,
you know, what happens is the legalities of it.
Why did she take her jacket?
Now Charlamagne looks like a pervert.
No, I'm not.
Oh, my God.
You're a pervert, man. I'm like a pervert. No, I'm not. Oh, my God. You're a pervert, man.
I'm not a pervert.
Jesus Christ.
Oh, I like that shirt.
You want me to stand up so you can see my chest?
Hold on.
All right.
I just like that.
That's a nice shirt.
Thank you.
Love for free.
Love for free.
It costs nothing to love.
That's why you won't take him to the movies.
It costs at least a movie to get some love.
You at least got to take...
You're not taking him on a date.
No, I'm married.
I just...
You're not going to take your wife to the movies?
I would go see it because you're in it.
There we go.
I'm serious.
I would go see it because...
I would go see it because it's you and Mars Chester.
But did you see how supportive she is?
She was like, I'm going.
I support Black movies.
Until you leave.
She'd be like, I'll wait.
Can I go on that?
I'll wait.
Come on.
They show it rerunning on TV once.
She had the courtesy to at least say she was going to go.
Yeah, I appreciate that.
I am going to go see it.
I do want to see it, though.
Only because you and Mara Chestnut.
Was the woman living in the house with you guys, the surrogate?
That's a weird thing.
All right.
The surrogate is actually engaged herself to be married.
And she and her boyfriend have some issues.
So she comes to live in our guest house.
Nice.
But at that point, my last embryo is in her body.
So y'all are rich.
You guys have a guest house and everything.
We do well.
Now, you're asking for your man to smash a chick if you move her on the property like that.
You think so?
That's a lot of temptation.
I don't think so. Not when I'm in the room.
I'm not really threatened by it.
But did he smash her? I thought he did smash her, looking at the preview.
You know what? You gotta go
ask your friends who go see the movie, because I know
you're not going to see it. So when your friends
go and they come back, y'all can ask her.
You can ask her what happened.
I won't see it.
Let's say you did, you know, with your man.
Would you have an issue with somebody, like another woman being in the house with him if you're not home in real life?
Who does that?
Well, you know what?
The thing is, the truth is, the intention was never that.
The intention is she's a young girl who's engaged and she lives with her fiance and they have their own life.
But things that happen in the movie, which I cannot reveal right now.
She breaks up with her boyfriend or something?
No, it's actually not that.
But she is forced and we don't really have a choice because at that point, it's the safety of the baby.
And like I said, it is the last embryo.
I think what it's more a testament to is what a woman will do when it comes to protecting or saving her child, whether it's
unborn or not. Okay. Alright, when we
come back, we have more with Regina Hall.
We're going to talk about roles in Hollywood.
Is it bad for black women? We'll talk
about it when we come back. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Good morning, everybody.
It's DJ MV, Angela Yee,
Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We have Regina Hall in the building.
Now, Charlamagne.
Is it a lot of limited roles for black females like they say?
I mean, I'm sure if people say it, then it exists.
You know, I would never sit here.
Even if my experience wasn't that to say no.
I mean, you know, it's tough.
It's competitive for any race.
Even when there are more roles, it's a limited number of people that work. White, black, male, female. It's tough it's competitive for any race even when there are more roles it's a limited
number of people that work white black male female it's tough in general but you wish there
were more but it's hard to be more when the people who look like you don't go see your movie
the problem is right here but you know what i'm gonna say this that this. That's not true. Like, our movies actually do really well.
They do do really well.
And so our people really do support.
I mean, there are exceptions.
I've seen every movie you're in.
You've seen my hand.
I don't mean on cable.
I can watch it on cable.
I saw Hayden Full in theaters.
Did you go?
You did?
I saw it about last night in theaters.
Okay.
And I didn't go see the scary movies.
That ain't really my thing.
Did you go see Things Like a Man?
I definitely saw Things Like a Man 1 and 2 in theaters.
Okay.
Absolutely.
Okay.
All right. But just not this one. Okay. No, I'm not saying I'm not
going to see this one. You did. You did.
No, I said, are you going to see it? And you said
no. It just seemed like I seen this one.
But I don't understand what movie.
It's nothing like Perfect Guy.
You're just saying it because you saw Morris.
Did it have to be these? Because I don't know why they're here.
Now, I'm not going to lie. After I saw you at the Wiener Awards and saw you give your speech and everything,
I thought you were very engaging and very funny in real life.
So I was like, let me go back and look at Regina Hall.
She didn't even know you until last year.
I knew her.
I knew you for a long time.
She didn't know you until last year.
I always knew who Regina Hall was, but I never heard her personally, outside of her roles, speak.
I thought she was very comedic, very funny, and
very powerful. So I was like, okay,
that's somebody I'm going to follow up on.
I agree with her.
And she's going to continue.
I actually even came back to work and said that I thought she did
a great job. And she really stood out.
You did. Well, you know what?
You inspired some, not all.
Because these two...
It's not true. But no, it's not like that.
I mean, it's the same. You know,
listen, a thriller is a thriller. But you know,
that doesn't mean that the plot
lines are all the same. You kind of have to see
it to see what the differences
are. Do you like dramatic roles or comedic
roles? I mean, I love them both. I mean,
you know, I didn't act and just play one.
Was there ever a point when you was playing Brenda
on Scary Movie that you was like, I'm just going to do this for the check?
This ain't really challenging. I'm just doing it.
No, I love playing Brenda. Some roles you do for fun.
I love Anna Faris.
The first two, I love the weigh-ins.
It doesn't have to be grueling to be good.
And I think me and Anna did the first four.
When they did the last one, I did not do that one.
That would have felt like it was for the check
because I didn't have, you know, Cindy.
Brenda needs Cindy.
And that kind of inspiration
that we kind of get off of each other
to be able to work together
and collaborate wasn't there.
But no, I had fun.
I mean, some things are just, you know,
you're like, oh, I'm going to go
and get to have a good time.
Don't you think you outgrow some roles, though?
But in people's mind, you haven't. So, like, they still run up on you like you, Brenda, or Shonda from Malib some money. Don't you think you outgrow some roles, though, but in people's mind you haven't?
So, like, they still run up on you like you, Brenda,
or Shonda from Malibu wanted?
Somebody ran up on me and they were like,
oh, my goodness, you Ace Boogie's baby mom.
And I was like, I said, oh, no, I'm sorry.
You must have me confused with someone else.
I had forgotten all about you.
You did that role?
You and Sanaya are cool, right?
Y'all close?
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Let me show you.
It's like, man, if you guys are ever up for the same role?
Let me show you what he want to ask you. Hold on.
No, we are...
No, we're not. You know what?
I'm sure we've been up for the same roles,
but we're really supportive.
My friends in the business, I'm always happy
when she gets something.
No, because we kind of get...
I'll rock with you, so I ain't going to do this to you.
We all put together questions before the interview.
This is what he wanted to ask you.
So we have never been in a lesbian relationship.
I have never, ever.
I have never.
We are like sisters.
The lesbian rumor started because my house was being renovated.
Sanaa was away working.
I ended up, I think on an interview, I said, I'm living with Sanaa, which I was.
Got to do it.
Because my house, which was supposed to take a month, ended up taking three months.
It's funny because we actually laugh about the rumor.
I think we make jokes about it all the time.
I never heard that until I saw it on that paper when they bought it.
I'm going to be honest with you.
You never heard it?
I never heard that one ever in my life.
Oh.
Well, let me see that paper.
Yeah, you want to see?
You have kids?
Two.
Two daughters.
They yours?
I would hope so.
As far as I know.
Are you ready to say that?
I would hope so.
If not, hey, I'd love to stop fitting some of these bills.
No, that's good.
What do you have?
I got three and two. She said, what do you have? I got three and two.
She said, what do you have?
No, I meant gender.
I got three girls, two boys.
I was a hoe in the past life.
No kids.
I just was curious because, you know, I'd like to know what you have.
I was a hoe in the past life, so hoes get blessed with daughters.
Daughters are pretty amazing.
Yes, until they start having sex and growing breasts.
And it's a guy in the interview who can't stop staring at her.
You know what? All right, well, make sure you having sex and growing breasts. And it's a guy in the interview who can't stop staring at her. You know what?
All right, well, make sure you guys go see the movie.
Yes, please go see it in about a break.
And it's in theaters.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
Special guest in the building this morning goes by the name of Future.
What's good with you?
What's up, sir?
Well, you just scratched this one off the list.
This is one of the...
He was on the list of people they said would never come up here.
I'm here now.
There you go.
Were you avoiding us or was it just not the right time?
Avoiding?
No, I wasn't avoiding.
Probably wasn't the right time, I guess.
We thought it was because of an introduction that Charlamagne did at MTV one time.
What?
Remember when you did the show Hip Hop POV?
Man, I'm still here.
Your words didn't matter then.
No, no. I said he makes
hot songs, but he's not a great lyricist.
And your DJ was like, boy, Charlamagne,
you a crazy n***a, boy.
But now's a good time to come because it's a
good time to be like, well, now look at me.
Nah, I was gonna look at me then.
I ain't never said I ain't like his music. I said he make hot songs.
He says whatever he said, you know what I mean?
I love.
Do you feel like in the beginning, though,
you did have a lot of doubters that you proved wrong?
Of course, everybody always gonna doubt you.
But you have to overcome it.
Like, it's gonna be hate.
You gotta get over that from the beginning.
You can't let that determine your future.
And you grounded for a long time.
Yeah, for a long time.
Dungeon family, seven, eight years?
Yeah, about seven, eight years.
Damn it, man.
Rico Love is what?
Your uncle?
Your cousin?
Rico Wade.
Rico Wade.
My bad.
I said, love Rico Wade.
I was like, yeah, you were listening to Rico Love, too?
I said, man, Rico Wade.
Yeah, Rico Wade, that's my cousin.
That's my cousin.
You came up in that camp.
You know, a lot of the music that they was putting out with Goody Mob and OutKast was socially conscious.
Were you ever in that lane?
Nah. I don't feel Were you ever in that lane? Nah.
I don't feel like I was in that lane.
I never wanted to be in the lane of Outkast and Goody Mob.
But most definitely I respect what they
do and I've learned a lot from them.
At what point did God
tell you he was blessing all the traffic?
Like when did you...
Man, it was just
me being creative and just trying to find another way to reach the people,
you know what I'm saying, by giving them something inspirational to look up to.
So it's just me.
Like, God bless in the trap.
You being at a radio station, this is your trap.
Absolutely.
I feel like people always, when we're back in the day, you say trap, you trapped in the
situation.
You know what I'm saying?
So I'm just adding light and making the word bigger than what it is.
And so it's just like, you're trapped in a situation,
God's going to bless you to get out of it.
I'm glad to hear that because I've been tweeting out,
God bless all the radio, Nick, because I don't feel like I'm in the trap,
but I understand what you're saying.
I used to talk to DJs in Atlanta, and this one, like the Migos
and Young Thug were like popping and popping.
I'd be like, well, what happened to Future?
And they was like, Future went Hollywood.
He said that?
What DJ said that?
Uh-oh.
Come on now.
I think it was Envy.
Jesus Christ, man.
I think it was DJ Envy.
It wasn't no Envy.
It was from Atlanta.
It was from Atlanta.
Envy ain't from no Atlanta.
But he ain't mean it in a bad way.
He was just like, you moved out to LA.
You haven't been around in a while.
I wonder what he think now.
He's probably playing your record
100 miles per hour.
Exactly.
Like, man, people going to always, they don't see where you're
going, where you're headed. Today, they're going to
tell you, hey, you're doing this, you're doing this, but they don't
see where I'm going to be at next year.
It's impossible. I know what I'm doing. I know the work
I'm putting in. Do you feel like a lot of artists
took your sound? Because I'm hearing a lot
of future-ish sounds.
I don't think they took my sound.
They didn't take it.
I probably inspired.
I was an inspiration.
That's a polite way to put it.
You talking about Fetty Wap?
Fetty Wap, definitely.
I wasn't talking about him. I like Fetty Wap.
I like Fetty Wap.
I like Fetty Wap, but I always say I feel like Fetty Wap is the son of the future.
I probably inspired him.
I'm not for sure.
I never talked to Fetty Wap.
Damn my life.
Are your dreads real?
Your dreads are real, right?
My dreads.
I'm just asking, man. I want to see. Yeah, my dreads are real, right? My dreads. I'm just asking, man.
My dreads are real.
My dreads are real, 100%.
Now, what's making you open up now as far as interviews and stuff?
Because at one point, you couldn't find a future interview.
Man, I never wanted to do interviews.
Even during this interview, I was like, man, I'm doing only the Breakfast Club.
So whatever y'all want to do, it's like, man, let's do Breakfast Club.
I'm like, I'm with it.
But I'm not doing a bunch of interviews
and every interview I walk in,
they're asking me the same question.
I'm not doing that.
It's like, I've been doing these mixtapes
without doing any interviews
and I'm doing great.
In the interviews, right,
you did like a long interview
with Huffington Post Live.
Yeah.
It was like 40 minutes long.
I watched the whole thing,
but all the headlines are like,
Yucha talks about Ciara
and why they broke up and how
they prayed after sex. Right. And it's
like, that's the headline, but what about everything else?
It's about... Exactly. Like, man, that's why I don't
even want to talk about it because why y'all even
bring it up? Y'all knew these people was going to say this.
Right. I mean, and you already anticipate
that. Yeah, I anticipated it, but I just wanted
to speak on my side. It was my side of the story.
Now I'm over it after I spoke my
side because she wasn't telling the side. It was just like she was just letting Now I'm over it after I spoke my side because she wasn't telling the side.
It was just like she was just letting it go along.
Whatever the people thought about me, she wasn't saying,
hey, don't say that about him.
They called you a cheater.
You know, when people
come together as a couple,
when you separate,
y'all put out a statement saying
let us live our respectable
lives. Leave us alone.
We went our separate ways because of issues that we had.
And we want everybody to keep our privacy.
Like, he cheated.
Yeah, like, she just went along with the cheating rumors and never said anything.
Like, issue a statement saying, leave our personal life alone.
And I wouldn't have to say anything about it.
All right, well, don't go anywhere.
We'll talk more about Ciara when we come back.
Future is in the building. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. right, well, don't go anywhere. We'll talk more about Sierra when we come back. Future is in the building.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Ho, ho, ho!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Hi, Charlamagne Tha God here.
I just want to wish you and yours a happy holiday.
And it's this big debate happening in our world right now
concerning Christmas and Santa Claus and flying reindeer
and whether or not you should tell kids
if these characters are real or not.
And I say yes.
Let people know Rudolph's nose is red because he's got a terrible cocaine habit.
Let kids know that the elves are all illegal immigrants from Mexico that our president-elect Donald Trump wants deported.
And please let your kids know the reason Santa Claus is never visited is simply because he's a triple OG blood and you guys live in a crip neighborhood.
Why do you think he always wears red?
Santa actually doesn't even respond to a visit
until you address him by his name, Santa Bloss.
You guys be cool.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The Breakfast Club.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
Future's in the building.
Now, Charlamagne has a theory about Ciara.
Well, Future, actually, you tweeted out and said you got that curse up off you.
And now you're back like you never left.
So I feel like Ciara Cucci may be cursed.
Because you look at what happened with Amari Stoudemire, Bow Wow, 50 Music even fell off a little bit.
I'm back.
I guess you got to have a baby or something.
To knock the curse on her.
I'm back.
I ain't thinking about her, man.
I swear, man, I'm not thinking about her.
I want her to be totally happy.
You got to understand, you want a person to be happy.
You have an ex-girlfriend that you had,
but you want her to be happy,
you're going to still be bitter because she moved on.
I'm not bitter.
People think I'm bitter because she moved on.
I'm good.
I'm taking care of me.
I don't need him.
She need him.
Now, was it true when you put a gun emoji with a football emoji on it?
You saw him pushing your baby?
Nah, man.
I didn't do that, but they thought I did it.
I wouldn't do something like that.
I think Jango ain't die himself like that, is he?
But if you see another man pushing your baby cash,
it might make you feel a way a little bit.
It'll make you feel a way, but it wouldn't go to the point where I'm going to put some emojis on a Facebook.
It was a fake Facebook page.
They put it on media.
She even thought it was real.
She got lawyers to start calling about that.
No, man.
Everything, it got serious, you know what I'm saying,
for something that I wouldn't even do.
Of course I wouldn't want somebody to push my son.
That's the number one rule.
I agree.
If I was a kid and my mama had a dude pushing me,
I would have jumped out the stroller and slapped the shit out of her.
I agree.
You never do that in our community.
You don't even bring a man around your son.
You haven't even know this dude for
a few months and you bring it around your kid who does that nobody does that as a man he shouldn't
do that he should be like nah i'm not doing that but you know he probably didn't know that she set
him up you got nannies you got assistants around you anybody could have pushed the scroller you
let them people catch that photo because you know what it is but at the end of the day i'm not for
the publicity stunts leave my son out all the publicity stunts. Leave my son out of all the publicity stunts.
Just leave him out of your relationship because we don't need your relationship for anything.
I can take care of him on my own.
Right.
I don't need no help taking care of my son.
Is that one of the reasons the relationship didn't work because of all the paparazzi?
I wouldn't say the paparazzi.
It's just I do my thing a different kind of way.
You move like a drug dealer, Future.
People still say that drug dealer, Future. People still play same thing.
Oh, man.
That's a touchy situation.
You make legal money now, Future.
It's okay now.
It's okay, man.
Yeah, but, man, you got to stick to your roots, man.
What you know.
This is what I know.
I know the streets.
I don't know about the Pop and Ricey.
Now, out of Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, 808 Mafia, Mike Will made it.
Who do you think brings out the best in the future?
The best, man, that's hard.
Because at times, Mike Will.
Mike Will Made It will die for you, man.
Absolutely.
I would see y'all getting out together.
Like he talks about you.
Nah, nah, that's my brother.
Forever, forever.
Me and Mike Will, we got history.
We communicate on the Dirty Sprite.
He not on the album.
But we have something planned.
You know what I'm saying?
Man, we're great friends.
So him bringing something out of me at times is not bad to say.
But Metro, he do inspire me.
And 808 Mafia, they inspire me also.
What was the conversation like with you and Hov?
We saw the picture of you and Jay.
No, I wasn't talking.
I was at his crib.
I was actually working with B, and he was there.
Oh.
So it wasn't a conversation with Jay.
Yeah, me and him had a dope conversation. had actually sat down he was like man i love what
you're doing keep doing what you're doing man jay is a great dude how do you decide where songs go
like you you wrote body party and and sierra cape did that song and it was a big record how do you
decide where song goes like you could have gave body party to beyonce at that time at the time
i was like man this is what she needs. She needs Body Party.
I promise she needs that ride.
She needs that ride moment to jump her album off.
She had dropped four singles, and all the singles just wasn't doing anything.
Then I came in, and I was like, hey, Mike Will was like,
Mike, I got this Body Party beat.
Then when I heard the beat, I was like, man, I think Ciara needs this beat.
I'm working with her today, and we did the beat.
That was the first song we ever did. Did you charge her? No, I didn'tara needs this beat. I'm working with her today. And we did the beat. That was the first song we ever did.
Did you charge her?
Nah, I didn't charge her for that.
You wish you had charged her now.
Nah, it was great for the both of us, man.
I feel like it was a great thing for the both of us.
What happened after that?
Because we never heard any more music like that after that.
Did she go in a different direction?
Yeah, she went a different direction? Yeah, she went in a different direction.
You better call Becky with the good health.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
Future's in the building.
How do you feel about dating celebrities now?
Is it something that you're like,
I don't want to do that again and getting mixed up with that?
They have to accept me just how I am
and not try to change me.
Did she try to change you?
Did you try to change?
I tried to change.
I just wanted to be better.
I wanted to feel like I was doing something
for a better cause.
You know what I'm saying?
You get in a relationship
and then she a superstar,
so certain things gonna reflect back on her.
Right.
If I'm smoking weed on my Instagram
and she like, man, why you smoking weed?
Because it might reflect on me.
Has she heard your music?
Has she heard you?
Yeah, she heard my music. That's what I'm saying. Like, you gotta
listen to the music and understand me.
Be like, I love you how you are. It was
interesting when you said y'all prayed after sex. Like, what
do you pray about after sex? I thought you were joking.
Like, I know guys that pray before they get in a plea.
Don't let me get gone. Nah, man. I don't even want to
speak on her no more, man. Well, not her, but just
in general. When you pray after sex, what do you pray about?
You want to hear what he said? I'm not gonna lie. I thought you were just being funny and making a joke that you prayed after sex. Well, not her, but just in general. When you pray after sex, what do you pray about? I'm not going to lie. I thought you were just
being funny and making a joke that you prayed
after sex. You're not going to even
speak on it, man. I'm not going to make no jokes, man.
I'm just answering the question.
At the end of the day, man, we move past it. It's cool.
Now, the dirty Sprite, does that make you nervous
at all, the drink? And the reason I say that is
allegedly, that's what had Rick Ross
having seizures. That's what had Lil Wayne having seizures.
Just say people have died drinking. I know that. what had Rick Ross having seizures. That's what had Lil Wayne having seizures. Just say people have died drinking.
It happened.
It happened.
It had me nervous at times because people talk about it so much.
Right.
They wouldn't talk about it so much and then soon something happened.
Like, we told them.
Right.
That's the only thing.
I don't want people to be like, I told you so you should have stopped.
Right.
So that's the only thing that had me nervous.
Besides that, it's a good drink to me.
How much drugs do you actually consume on a regular basis?
Too much.
I need to stop now.
I know my sons don't listen.
I'm about to stop.
You're lucky because you know you're skinny,
and sometimes that makes people gain a lot of weight.
It slows down your metabolism and all of that.
I've been skinny all my life.
It makes you constipated, not constipated?
Nah.
You did do a song called Shit, though.
Sorry.
I can't take it.
It's all right.
It's easy.
Tell them what I asked. I want't take it. Don't ask questions.
It's good, though.
It's good.
Our future is in the building.
It's the Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Night.
If she get a hype, then I got a beer like a feature.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are the Breakfast Club.
Future's in the building.
Did you feel like you had to redeem yourself after the Honest album?
Yep. Because he wasn't
getting the reception you wanted? Yeah, I wasn't
getting the reception I wanted. I feel like I wasn't
as honest as I should have been
on that album. How ironic.
Do you feel you got industry out a little bit?
Because you got with the celebrity girl, you moved
to L.A., maybe caused
you to not make the music you wanted. Nah, because you
gotta think, me moving to L.A., that's my first
time going. Being in a public relationship
with someone from the industry is my first time.
So you have a first-time experience.
It was a learning experience for me.
Now you know what to do and what not to do.
You think it was a distraction for you from work?
Because I remember really...
Yeah, it was a distraction
because all they want to hear about is your relationship.
They don't even want to think about your music no more.
Your relationship is bigger than your music.
I feel like, honest, my relationship was bigger than me. And now I'm
bigger than anything. It's not even about a relationship.
It's about Monster, Beast Mode,
56 Nights, and Dirty Sprite. It's not
even about a relationship. And it's funny because they start
feeding into stuff because, you know, you see, if we know you're in
a relationship, you're like, damn, Throwaway must be
about... Yeah, Throwaway wasn't about her.
It's about any girl that's a throwaway.
Where do you feel like you're at in the game
now? Because when I saw the interview with Elliot
you felt like
you said I'm not
where I want to be
where do you feel
you're at right now
I feel like I'm
in a great place
I'm heading
in the right direction
I got a lot of support
from a lot of fans
industry have been
supporting me
that's where I want
to be at
you know what I'm saying
that's enough
to keep continuing
to go on
it's hard to get
hot again
exactly
that's why you
gotta stay hot
and never stop
if you stop,
if you make a move
and take two months off,
another artist might come in
and then two months
when you're taking vacations.
Like I started going on vacations
and going out to eat.
I never went out to eat
until I was in a relationship.
I never went on a vacation
until I was in a relationship.
But you never went out
to eat.
You're from Atlanta.
They got some of the best
restaurants in the world.
I go to the studio
every single day,
never go out to eat.
I had Christmas at the studio. You had Thanksgiving at out to eat. I had Christmas at the studio.
You had Thanksgiving at the studio.
Everything had to happen at the studio.
When I first started, then we got a relationship.
We're going during the dates.
I never went on a date.
Your poor baby mamas, what happened with them?
You didn't ever take them on those dates or nothing?
I was young when I was with them.
I was young.
I was in high school when I had my first child.
So that was my first son.
By the time I got success in the industry, he was already 9, 10, going on 10 years
old. The other baby mom, we already
went through everything together. We done
probably went on movie dates a long time ago
like before I even had any success.
But I'm saying while I was having success, I wasn't
with her. My daughter mom
I've been like, you ain't never take me nowhere. Now
you out at restaurants. Nah, nah.
I take them on dates now. At what point did you notice
your wave getting crazy?
Because it's like the biggest your...
When girls start putting out three-second clips of me on Ball Alert and stuff like that.
I didn't know I was that hot.
Girls want to put pictures of me out in the bed.
Because everybody's...
That's when you understand, like, man, I need to fall back.
Yeah, you need to be careful.
But it is true because people do focus a lot on your situation.
Like, you know, you have four children's mothers.
You got four kids and adopted sons, so five.
You have five kids. I'm hearing this interview right now like, you got five kids.
But you have four women that you have to deal with.
That's tough.
No, it's not.
Why is it tough?
He make about $75 a show.
That's why.
Okay, I get you right.
No, I don't say that.
You got men trying to get more money.
I don't make nothing.
I ain't making nothing.
It's all promo.
It's all promo.
I don't make anything.
I don't make nothing.
I'm putting out these free mixtapes.
I'm doing these free shows.
I gave away free mixtapes.
I gave free downloads.
But now I take care of all of them.
You know what I'm saying?
Do you feel like you would want to be with one of them permanently?
I always see you go back to it. always show you, and I think Brittany.
I'm around my kids.
Do you ever feel like you want to be with one of them?
Like, settle down, monogamous relationship, we already have a child together.
Man, I'm already with him.
That means one kid's always his.
Yeah, we got kids together.
I'm always going to be around.
So how do you feel about them, like, dating other guys?
Are they not supposed to do that?
Yeah, they can date other guys.
But if I pay for the house and pay for your car,
you can't date a dude and have him living in my house.
This is my house.
If he dates you that much, he loves you that much,
tell him about your house.
I don't have to pay the bills.
That's what it's about, man.
It's about moving on and being happy.
If you can't make somebody happy,
you shouldn't be mad if they're happy with someone else.
Right.
A lot of sites that were ran by girls would give you flack. They'd be like, on being happy. If you can't make somebody happy, you shouldn't be mad if they're happy with someone else. Right.
A lot of sites that were ran by girls
would give you flack.
They'd be like,
see, Sierra,
what you think
was going to happen to you?
He got four kids already.
Right.
Did that bother you?
Nope.
It ain't like,
no, girls are still
going to mess with you anyway.
It doesn't matter.
Of course.
Superstars,
regular girls,
they still going to mess with me
because that don't determine
how they feel about me
because if you know me, then you know what they're talking about is not true.
You thought she would have had a baby by me.
I had three kids before.
And she actually got to meet the mothers.
Yeah, she got to meet the mothers, take care of my kids.
She had my kids.
She keep the kids.
So if she keep my kids and I have my kids,
you think she'll have a baby by me if I was a deadbeat dad?
The Breakfast Club is future.
Happy holidays.
Wishing you and your family the very best this holiday season
from all of us here at The Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club.
It's time for Donkey of the Day.
Donkeys of the Day, ask John to make it. I'm a Democrat, so being donkey of the day i'm a democrat so being donkey of the day is a little bit of a mixed place so like a donkey
now i've been called a lot in my 23 years that donkey of the day is a new one
donkey of the day goes to jason stokes now jason stokes is a new one. Junkie of the day goes to Jason Stokes.
Now, Jason Stokes is a firefighter accused of setting fire to his own home.
The irony, not just setting fire to his own home,
but setting fire to his own home while his wife and two teen children were still inside of it.
Sick, sick, sick individual this guy is.
Well, it's not the first time I've heard of a person setting their own home on fire.
People do that in the hood all the time. They're collecting insurance money and, you know,
go buy a new crib and whatnot. But Jason seemed like he was trying to kill his whole family in
the process. Now, I don't know what Jason's motive was in setting his house on fire. I don't know if
his family was in on it, but I do know Jason tried to direct the blame of the blaze on somebody other
than him. Let's go to CBS affiliate WBNG for the report. A firefighter in New York is facing arson charges
after he allegedly set his own home on fire
and then proceeded to frame Black Lives Matter
as the perpetrators.
Now, Jason Stokes is the name of the uptown
or upstate New York firefighter.
And according to short investigation,
authorities were able to find that he was the one
that kind of set this up. So a family member said at the time that they believe their home was
targeted because of the Blue Lives Matter flag flying out in front. He had his family members
in the house while he did this. Investigators also found the message, lie with pigs, fry like
bacon, written on some siding outside the burned home. Now, we have enough tension between civilians and cops and cops and civilians already, Jason.
Why are you out here fanning the flames literally and figuratively?
What is the point of creating a false narrative that members of Black Lives Matter are going
around setting police supporters' houses on fire?
All it does is keep people on edge.
Now, police are more aggressive with civilians and the civilians feel like they have to return the energy.
So all it does is create a damn mess, which leads to people actually getting hurt.
And you, Jason Stokes, have contributed to that tremendously.
Now, Jason Stokes has been charged with second-degree arson,
and he's being held at the Broome County Jail.
His bail is set at $10,000 cash, $20,000 in property,
which all seems like a slap on the wrist to me.
That all seems a little too low, and the charges don't seem excessive enough.
His wife and teen kids were in the house.
Shouldn't it be some kind of attempted murder charge as well tagged onto that?
He put people's lives at risk, particularly people who are part of the Black Lives Matter movement because he made it seem like the people who burnt his house down were anti-police.
So the police in that area probably were turning that town upside down.
All because you crying wolf about who burned your house down.
Fake news, fake crimes.
We truly do live in the era of believe of none of what you hear and half of what you see.
Unless what you see is online.
If it's online, believe none of it until you get the details.
Give Jason Stokes the biggest seahawk, please.
I don't get it.
Terrible.
I just don't get none of the motives,
and I don't understand the low-ass crime he got charged with.
Just a slap on the wrist for second-degree arson?
I don't know if that's a slap on the wrist.
I don't know nobody who got no second-degree arson charge.
I don't hang around arson.
But you're right.
There should have been some other charges as well.
Yes. You set the house
on fire with your wife
and your teen kids in there
and tried to blame it on BLM.
Come on.
Didn't you try and set
your house on fire
with your mom in there?
No, I never tried
to set my mom in there.
See, I should come over
and slap the beige off you.
Now you trying to contribute
to false narratives
out here in these streets.
Fake news ass.
What did you try to do?
What you mean?
What did I try to do?
You told me one day
your pops beat the hell
out of you because
you tried to set the house on you. He was playing with matches.
Yeah, I got beaten with an extension cord because I was
in my house. We used to live in a
double-wide trailer in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
Population, 8,000 or so.
And I was in my room with a lighter
flicking the lighter on the carpet.
I wasn't trying to set the damn house
on fire. I wasn't trying to set the carpet on fire.
That could have been a result of him playing with the...
It could have happened, though. It could have happened,
But it wasn't the
intention.
It wasn't my
intention at all.
The intention was...
I was just flicking
a lighter, being a
kid.
You know, play with
a lighter as a
youngster?
No.
Yeah, right.
I don't know if I
seen your Wikipedia,
what you was doing
in that basement.
Shut up.
No.
Learn how to DJ.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
All right.
Okay.
All right.
Well, thank you for
that.
Somebody lit a fire
in your ass.
Nobody lit a fire
in my ass.
My DJ, my DJ, my, my.
Welcome, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
Special guest in the building.
That's right.
Hip-hop's favorite terrorist, Barack Hussein.
Oh, my goodness.
Damn.
What's up?
What's up?
What are you guys up now?
Puff Daddy.
Puff Daddy's in the building.
What would Biggie be like at 44? Everybody always wonders that. Would he be a mogul like you and Ho now? Puff Daddy. Puff Daddy's in the building. What would Biggie be like at 44?
Everybody always wondered that.
Would he be a mogul like you and Hov?
Like what?
I think he would have stopped rapping by now and been just really a businessman.
You got to really look at what he did back then.
He's actually the reason why I even started rapping.
You know what I'm saying?
He was like, I don't care if you ain't the greatest writer.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, your visions and all that.
I believe in you.
I see the way the crowd responds to you when you go out there.
I see you a true entertainer.
And, you know, let me pin some things.
Let's get Mase or Jadakiss.
We got the team.
You know, let's do this.
And, like, he pushed me to it.
I was supposed to be on the Get Money remix.
But, you know, I went in the booth, and I didn't like the way my voice sounded. And I just wasn't, like, used to it. I was supposed to be on the Get Money remix. But, you know, I went in the booth
and I didn't like the way my voice sounded.
And I just wasn't, like, used to it.
And he just kept pushing me and pushing me until I did the Benjamins
and Can't Nobody Hold Me Down.
And he was, like, really my manager.
Telling me, get up, get to the studio.
And, you know, he was about his business.
Now, Terrence J said you called him
and threatened to kill him
if he act up in a love scene with Cassie.
Nah.
He did not say that.
Why would you make a whole story up?
He said you told him don't hold back.
He said don't hold back.
Nah, nah, nah.
I called him because I knew he was in a situation that, you know, may have made him feel uncomfortable.
Even if it was vice versa, I would have felt uncomfortable.
You know what I'm saying?
When you're dealing with a man's woman.
You didn't smash somebody's girl before,
did you? Stop. In your life.
Not in a movie. Allegedly.
Allegedly.
But I've changed.
You're not wrong.
I just want y'all to know
I'm a kinder, gentler,
more loving me.
I got a code.
I got a code. You live and I'm saying? I got a code.
Like, you live and you learn. Like, you know what I'm saying?
I love too hard, so I just don't want
nobody smashing mine. You know what I'm saying?
And I don't want to smash theirs, you know?
So I think it goes all on karma,
you know? So, you know what I'm saying?
I try to at least have that. And it ain't worth it
because I know people out here are crazy, you know what I'm saying?
About that love thing.
So being that, I want to, you know, I'm not going to say that, but I love real hard.
So I wanted them to know, you know, it's a movie, man.
Go do your thing.
I respect the arts, you know what I'm saying.
You can still come over for Easter after.
Oh, yeah.
It wasn't nothing to me like that because, you know, just me doing movies.
And you have to do that. And I wanted to make sure that they was empowered with the freedom from me. Please don't nothing to me like that because, you know, just me doing movies. And you have to do that.
And I wanted to make sure that they was empowered with the freedom from me.
Please don't think about me.
Make it believable or else you're going to play yourselves and look like two light-skinned, pretty people, like, you know, trying to kiss.
You know what I'm saying?
Really make the scenes be believable.
Do your thing.
And I'm not the way.
Does it still feel weird when you're watching, like, because they had a lot of sex scenes in that movie.
Did it feel a little?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was like, I ain't wearing a watch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, I don't know.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, no.
And I watched it and I was proud of it.
I was looking at it as it was acting.
You know, I mean, I was a little bit sick.
You know what I'm saying?
Because I'm like, you know, I was watching the movie.
I'm like, yo, this is like the third love scene.
Like, you know, I'm tapping her.
I'm like, yo, you really in the movie.
They had a little screening for me. Shaq Kim and Terrence had a little screening for me. They was like, yo, you really in the movie. They had a little screening for me.
Shaquem and Terrence had a little screening for me.
They was like, yo, puff, we want to make sure that, you know what I'm saying, everything cool.
So I'm looking at her.
I'm like, yo, you getting smashed like three times in a day.
You ain't even saying nothing.
I'm like, where's the arc in your character?
You know what I'm saying?
And she's just like, you know what I mean? You know what I'm saying? And then I see the arc in your character? You know what I'm saying? And she's just like, you know what I mean?
You know what I'm saying?
And then I see the arc in her character, and I'm like, oh, whoa.
You know what I'm saying?
The way the movie progressed.
If you haven't seen the movie The Perfect Match, you got to go see it.
And just her as an actress, I was just so proud of her,
so proud of Terrence putting the movie together, Shaquem, everybody.
But there's an arc, so it wasn't just about the love scene.
Is it pressure when you're in that position?
Because you know she wants to be a star.
She wants to get things popping.
And you are Diddy.
Y'all don't really talk about my personal life.
I know.
It's just a career though.
Is it pressure to get her popping like that?
To be famous.
No, no, no.
She's not that type of young lady.
She's not trying to really be out here
and trying to get hot. You know what I'm saying? She with me, so she already hot. She's not that type of young lady. She's not trying to really be out here and trying to get hot.
You know what I'm saying?
She with me, so she already hot.
She's hot on her own, too.
You know what I'm saying?
So that's the beauty of it.
She's not like out here thirsty trying to, you know, be seen.
She's not all over social media every second.
You know what I'm saying?
So her approach to it is different.
And she lets her talent show no matter what the naysayers are.
You know what I'm saying?
She doesn't have to be gimmicky and do anything to the press.
She's doing her, and she's going to be more than what people may think
or may underestimate her for,
and I think she showed a lot of that in the movie was to come in her future,
and her future is not directly tied to me professionally.
She has her own life.
She makes her own decisions. She makes her own decisions.
She does her own thing.
Good morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
Diddy's in the building now, Charlamagne.
Are you out here opening up charter schools and shit?
Yeah.
And I'm out here opening up charter schools in Harlem.
I thought that was it.
You know what I'm saying?
I think that's life goals for, you know,
for a lot of people that are very,
because I've always been very into education.
Like, I did prep for prep here in New York,
and I went to Bank Street College of Education.
At one point, I thought I was going to be a teacher,
so I think it's great that you've opened up
this charter school.
I was like, wow, Diddy's opening up schools.
So tell us a little bit about that
and what made you decide to do that,
and I know you have your partner here.
Steve Perry. That's not a Muslim shooter. No. And I know you have your partner here. Steve Perry.
That's not a Muslim shooter.
No.
Yeah.
I got the school colors and the bow tie, brother.
Yeah.
Well, I have my partner who helped come to flourishing.
I was watching CNN.
Education is something that's very near and dear to me.
And a lot of people don't know that because a lot of people don't know I've been working on this for six years.
And I saw him and he he had a 100% graduation rate,
and he had a lot of at-risk students that were not even supposed to be passing in school,
that were probably behind three grades.
He was able to turn them around and create a curriculum and teach them and inspire them
and make them accountable and responsible for their futures and getting to them early is so important that we get to our kids early and I feel like the
reason why I'm able to be I was able to be successful was because I was blessed with my
mother really like busting her butt to really give me a great education I wanted to do something
bigger than opening up a community center or just giving a. I wanted to do something bigger than opening up a community center
or just giving a donation.
I wanted to do something that was long-term.
I'm not a sprinter. I'm a marathon runner.
I didn't just run a marathon to run it.
It was something for my life that I wanted to be, you know,
a metaphor my whole life.
And with this school, that's, you know, it's my next marathon.
I'll let him tell you the rest of the story from there.
So he kept saying, this is something that means something to me.
I don't want to do an after school program.
I don't want to do, those are all dope and that's nice, but I want a school.
We can train young people to be leaders.
You know, there would be those who question, why would you work with a brother who doesn't have a background in education?
He has a capacity to communicate with young people that is unrivaled in our generation. Just in a day of announcing it, our applications have quadrupled.
The number of people who want to work in the school have quadrupled.
How many students in the school?
So there are going to be 180, but we have almost 1,000 on the waiting list today.
Wow.
What grades?
It's going to ultimately be grades 6 to 12, but we're starting with 6 and 7.
It's a year-round college preparatory school.
The theme is social justice.
So we're training young people to be social entrepreneurs and leaders in the community,
not just learning to learn, but learning to make an impact on the community.
That's what he said he wanted.
I wish you guys could see just how positive the reaction from the entire community has been.
They're just celebrating like, that's my man.
Get him, pup.
Get him.
And it's just exciting.
Is the school free? Yeah.
The school is absolutely free.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hold on.
Along with the city, along with some great donors, along with some, we need donations,
we need money.
You know, I'm putting up my own money.
It's going to be great. Now, Steve, you've had
your critics, you know, you was quoted as calling union teachers roaches.
And they said you juiced the graduation rate at your school in Connecticut.
Yeah, so I called union leaders who protect bad teachers that destroy mostly black Latino children roaches.
I did.
You know, it's very difficult to fire teachers, right?
It takes at least two years, especially in the destruction that they heap when they're ineffective on the lives of a young person.
A lot of kids tapping out.
They don't even want to go to school.
They start off when they're five or six years old excited about school.
And by the time, especially black males and Latino males make it to the third grade, many of them are in no position even to be successful.
In fact, many of the children we're going to accept are going to be three, four, five grade levels behind.
It's not because they're incapable of learning.
It's because they've not been taught.
And as much as you see numbers, that's bananas.
What that is, is that's people who can't do trying to find a way to undermine the people who have done.
When you recognize that there's something beautiful in every single one of our children.
When we started our first school,
I went and visited private schools.
So I had gone to a public school.
I grew up in public housing
and I want to see what people are paying for.
I just figured these kids
were just inherently smarter than our kids.
That's what I was led to believe.
And I went to, I met some,
I got little sisters back at the school
to smoke these kids.
They just talk differently.
They have a different accent.
They come from a different community.
But if a kid can come from squalor
and make it to some of the top colleges on
earth, then what that speaks to
is the capacity of the child.
Like controller
controller
Yes.
Morning everybody, it's DJ Envy
Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, we are the
Breakfast Club. Diddy's in the building
now, Charlamagne. Diddy, let's talk some real hip-hop.
Yes, yes.
Now, it was this documentary that claimed, which we know wasn't true.
Yeah, yeah, Chaz, we don't talk about things that are nonsense.
We don't even entertain nonsense, my brother.
So we're not even going to go there with all due respect,
but I appreciate you as a journalist asking.
All right.
Thank you.
And I saw you started to...
That's all you gotta do.
The artists don't understand that.
People get upset about the question, you gotta just say...
Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
I'm gonna tell y'all this. This is very important.
I got this new hashtag. It's called
New Life. I gotta start
living it. I had to start living a new life, man.
The way I was approaching things,
the way I was reacting to things, you know what I'm saying?
Just we all grow up.
We all do things in ways that maybe you could do better.
And I'm just trying to figure out ways to do better.
I know I'm in the public eye.
I got to handle all types of different stuff.
Y'all have a job to do.
So, you know, it ain't no problem.
But I'm in control of what I say.
And I don't get into nonsense.
I don't have nothing but love for everybody.
You know, God sent me on this earth to give life, to inspire life,
to only do things that are positive.
Any negative things that I've done, that's the devil at work.
And at the end of the day, the devil's a liar,
and I can't feed into negativity or any things like that.
And when I'm in control of myself,
so I got to always be trying to strive and,
and,
and to get better.
So I really thank you.
It's encouraging that you saying that,
you know,
you feel like,
you know,
I'm reacting to things a little better because I'm actually making an effort.
And I want to tell people out there,
like you can change,
you know what I'm saying?
If you ask,
you can change.
You know what I'm saying?
If you, yeah, yeah.
If you, I mean, Charlamagne has grown.
Charlamagne has grown.
I think we've all grown.
And that's the thing.
Never give up on yourself, man.
Never give up on yourself and keep growing.
Because you, listen, seven years ago, I'd have been like, yo, did you hire somebody to kill Pac?
But no, you do it like a journalist.
Yeah, yeah.
No, I mean, we wouldn't even get into nonsense like that.
Which we never believed, by the way. Yeah, thank you. Now you now i just want to say i did see the picture of your daughters
wearing the sean john so i see you have the sean john girls line they are so cute i like to see
uh your little girls and how yeah dad you are well that was the big thing when social media started
that was a big thing for me i really felt like fathers especially fathers of color, were getting such a bad rap.
Like, we don't do nothing with our kids.
We just some lazy, you know, partying Negroes.
We don't even do nothing with our kids.
There's so many fathers that have stepped up.
This hip-hop generation and culture has bred fathers that are taking responsibility,
that love being with their kids, that love their children,
that are raising them the right way,
raising them purposely.
You can't be like me.
You got to be better than me.
And so that's what I wanted to make sure that I glorified that,
you know what I'm saying, and made that,
and do my best to make that into a trend.
And that's really what I represent.
And that's that marriage.
I'm going to do it now, baby.
There's no need.
What?
Why?
What's the point?
Listen,
it's,
it's,
uh,
you know,
um,
you never know what's to come in the future.
You know,
where my mind is at now,
where my soul is at now could be different,
you know,
tomorrow,
you know,
and,
um,
you know,
that's,
that's all I'm gonna say about that.
Also,
I'm gonna keep,
I'm gonna keep it so smooth.
I'm gonna stay so smooth this morning.
You know, girls got mad at you last time when you was here with the 75, 25.
Yeah, yo, check this out, ladies.
The guys loved it.
Check this out.
I have to let them guys know, y'all not dead.
So y'all can't.
You're a little 25%, 75%.
I'm going to tell y'all, I got to be honest.
It ain't work, y'all.
It ain't work, y'all. It ain't work.
Let me be the first one to tell y'all.
75, 25.
I tried it.
We seen it.
We just deleted it over Instagram.
We was like, damn, man.
Hey, yo.
Hey, yo.
Check this out.
Hey, yo.
Hey, yo, man.
It got rough.
We went 100%.
Hey, yo.
I mean, she may be light-skinned but she black is a blacker than black boy.
She got a mouth on. It's crazy. It is just it wasn't going down.
And I'm sorry, baby. I shouldn't have got on. I shouldn't have got on radio even being loose like that.
You know, I was feeling myself. I was feeling myself, baby.
And I don't know.
Whatever's in my mind needs to stay in my mind sometimes.
Nah.
We can't have too many brothers. Nah, but I want to tell y'all the truth.
It ain't going to work.
And even if that's what you feel, you just don't need to be saying certain things on the radio.
As a black man named Puff Daddy.
Ladies, ladies, ladies, shut it down.
I am such a camera romantic guy.
You know what I'm saying?
Any woman that I've dealt with, I take care of to the fullest.
And I love.
And I really do give 150%.
So I don't know what I was talking about.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Nah, nah.
If polygamy was legal, right?
If polygamy was legal.
I'm going to be quiet.
You could have more than one wife.
Would you do it?
It's a setup, Puff.
Don't do that.
It's a setup.
Chill out, Kenny.
It's a setup.
Puff, I've been married long enough.
Listen, Charlemagne, this is my new answer to you, Charlemagne.
I don't talk about nonsense.
There you go.
Hashtag new life.
When the press took a picture of you in jail or at the AMAs,
when you went home, how was that conversation?
You had to play baby.
It's just a picture.
They were like, y'all back together.
But you know what we're not going to do?
It's the last thing we're going to do.
We're not going to open up the door to personal life.
That's one thing I definitely, I know everybody has a job to do,
but you have to guard your personal life. Everything ain't everybody I definitely, I know everybody has a job to do, but you have to,
you have to guard your personal life. Everything ain't everybody's business, y'all. I'm gonna tell
you right now, I've made mistakes. I've seen certain people do it. Everything is not everybody's
business. You ain't gotta even be famous. It ain't nobody's business what you're going through
and what your personal life with you and your woman, man. That's between you and your woman.
Keep that thing right there sacred. My woman, at the end of the day,
you know, she ain't have a problem with it.
She asked some questions.
She asked some questions.
But nah, nah.
You know, Casper was there.
You know what I'm saying?
Me and Jennifer, we got to...
People are going to be friends, man.
People are going to grow. And, you know, any of saying? Me and Jennifer, we got to, people are going to be friends, man. People are going to grow.
And, you know, any of my exes, they smile and they're happy to see me.
You know what I'm saying?
And that's all that was about, you know.
And, you know, I answered the question and we kept it moving.
Had enough of this country?
Ever dreamt about starting your own?
I planted the flag.
This is mine.
I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of flag. This is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water,
500 pounds of concrete. Or maybe not. No country willingly gives up their territory. Oh my god. What is that? Bullets. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan
