Starting point is 00:02:44 DJM. J.M., Jess Alarians, and Charlemagne Naguette. They're listening to the breakfast club. Thank y'all for being like culture leaders. You guys are family. The breakfast club is where people get the information on the topics, on the artists, and everything like that. You guys were nice.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Everybody got me all nervous. Like you guys are... You're locked into the world's most dangerous morning show. More dangerous than the wrong. If you want to break this club, you ain't going to bring it 120. Minders won't not come up here. Oh, my Jesus. This is what I do up here?
Starting point is 00:03:13 That's right. Get up out of the beds and listen to the greatest show on earth. Good morning, USA. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, we're on vacation, sir. Well, you still got to say, Shalameen, we're on vacation. Well, peace of the planet is Friday! We are on vacation. This is the best-of show.
Starting point is 00:03:47 So, these voices that you're hearing right now are A-I. That's right. Well, they're pre-recorded. We don't do AI here at I-Heart Radio. This is guaranteed human over here. This is pre-recorded. And it is Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and there's one good way to burn calories is to laugh. Yes.
Starting point is 00:04:04 So who are we getting into this weekend? Well, today, this Friday. Damn, I know you can't wait. You always can't wait to get into somebody. Lord have mercy. But, no, we're talking to Drewski this morning. Drewski has been up to the Breakfast Club quite a few times. Actually, fun fact, before we moved out of our old studio and moved into the Black Mother's ship,
Starting point is 00:04:21 Drewski was our last interview in the old Breakfast Club studio. So that first, what? I don't know. What was that, 10 years, 11 years? I don't know how many years that was. But those first 10, 11 years that we were in the old studio, Druski was our last interview in the building. So if you ever want to do some Breakfast Club trivia,
Starting point is 00:04:37 our first ever interview ever was Ray J. And our last interview in the old studio was Drusky. Good little book in right there. But also, Kevin Hart, we're going to get on one of our classic Kevin Hart conversations. We've had several of those. And Dave Chappelle and Donnell Rylans. Dave Chappelle has been here once. Donnell, of course, couldn't let Dave have a moment.
Starting point is 00:04:56 by himself. So Donnell Rawlins came up here with Dave Chappelle. So we'll be getting all of that on for you. Hopefully you get some chuckles and burn some calories, man, this day after Thanksgiving. And we'll see you Monday with brand new episodes of the world's most dangerous morning to show the breakfast class. Ray, Ray, Ray!
Starting point is 00:05:12 Yo, Charlemagne, Envy, what up? Are we live? This is your time to get it off your chest. I got an indoor pool our outdoor pool. We want to hear from you on the breakfast club. We can get on the phone right now. He'll tell you what it is. We lie? Hey, Nadine, good morning.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Get it off your chest. Where are you calling from first? I'm calling from Dallas, Texas. Okay, Dallas. What's up, Mama? I own wrote a book. It's called How to Date a Fat Chick, a Fat Chick, a Fat Girl's Dating, and I'll be so great for you guys.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Kick it up and read it. How to date a Fat Chick Chick, yeah, a Fat Girl's Dixie. Is it a heavy read? Is it thick? Like, how many pages is it? How, how are you so funny? No, I'm just asking. Like, how many pages is it?
Starting point is 00:05:53 It's not that. It's not that big. It's like 160 pages, but it's a one-day read, but it's a great story. About my date's life. About your what? My dating life. Oh, you're a big girl. Oh, duh.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Don't duh. She might not be big no more. It might be her past life she's writing about. So it was hard for you to date? No, it's a satirical look at my dating life because it's the things that I went through in the lessons that I learned along the way. Okay. I'd love to read that.
Starting point is 00:06:23 I had a home girl who wrote something like that before. It was called Dating While Fat. Oh, wow. Oh, well, yeah. It's on Amazon, so it's by Nadine Jones, which is me, and, again, how to date a fat girl's got to dating. Okay. What category is it in? Food, home.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Jesus. What is it? Like, what category is it? It's not how to. It should be how to. I'm asking. I think, I don't know what categories is, but it's comedy, I think. It's hysterical.
Starting point is 00:06:50 So, you know, just type it in your finance. What's it called again? How to date a fat chick. So if a guy takes you out to eat, do you limit the food that you have so you don't look big? You got to read the book. You're right. I'm sorry. It came up as a cookbook.
Starting point is 00:07:05 No, it didn't. Shut up. No, how to date a fat chick. That girl's guide to dating by Nadine Jones. Okay. I like the cover. I like that. I like that.
Starting point is 00:07:15 What do you call that? A Cosma. A Cosmo. A Cosmo. A book. A notebook. Yeah. A textbook.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Whatever that is. Yeah. I like that. I like that. Composition. There you go. There we go. Well, you have a good one, D.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Thank you, you too. Good luck. Hello, who's this? What's going on, man? My name is Super Trucker, man. I'm out of East of North Carolina, man. I'm a truck driver. What's up, Super Trucker?
Starting point is 00:07:38 How are you feeling this morning? Man, I'm good, man. I'm out here shipping gears, making that black smoke come out to bite. Okay, all right. What's you transporting? I do flatbeds. I'm hauling building materials right now.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Okay, all right. We'll be safe for them rolls, brother. Yo, man, I just want to know, man. Do y'all got love for truckers, man? You damn right, I got love for truckers. You know, let me hear that one. I know you do, Jess. Hey, look, I got a song called Truck and Love, man.
Starting point is 00:08:04 So, y'all get a chance. Check it out. It's on YouTube. You still got love for truckers, Jess? You knew he was going. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Blow that home for us, brother. I got you.
Starting point is 00:08:15 All right, man. Be safe for them rolls, brother. Hello, who's this? Yeah, what's up, MV? What's up, bro. What's up, Jess? How y'all doing? What's that, baby?
Starting point is 00:08:26 Good, good. What's going on? Get it off your chest. Yo, I'm mad at my brother, James. What's your brother do? He, yo, he set me up. I'm sick last night, and I'm feeling well. I'm at home, and he to lie to his wife telling him that he was hanging out with me all night.
Starting point is 00:08:43 And he wasn't. Oh, man. He ain't tell you that you're part of the lie. He ain't tell me because I was dead into the world. And my wife called my wife. asking her, what was he with me? Oh, man. What's your wife say?
Starting point is 00:08:59 Yo, she blew his spot up like, hell no. You want to see the cameras? Damn, damn. She blew him up, and he's calling me up to talk about, yo, you're supposed to help me out. I'm like, yo, you should have told me first. I hate when somebody make you a part of the lie, but don't tell you about the lie.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Like, damn. Now he's mad because he said that I'm the reason why his wife is putting him out. Now he wants to come and stay in my house. Oh, hell, no. You're not the reason, and your wife ain't going to let no cheating ass stay at their house. I'm sending him over to you, Evie. You definitely not sending him over to me. I got a couple of dogs that I make sure he stay out.
Starting point is 00:09:38 I hear that, Evie. Y, Evie, when you throw it another mixtape out, man, come on. Stop playing. You'd be rapping? You know, he's talking about a DJ mixtape, Jess. Jess said you'd be rapping. You ain't go get that in a while, brother. You know, it ain't going to happen.
Starting point is 00:09:52 bro. Oh, come on, Envy. They ain't going to happen. These artists are a lot different, man. But back then, I would say the artist really respected the DJ and really love the DJ where you can ask an artist for something and they would be happy to do it, glad to do it. But now, I ain't playing a politics game, bro. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Yeah, I know what you in Red Cafe, man. Yeah, shout to Red Cafe. All right, brother. Well, you have a good one, man. Peace, envy. All right, brother. Get it off your chest. 800-585-105-1.
Starting point is 00:10:19 If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club This is your time to get it off your chest Whether you're mad or blessed I hate the way that you walk The way that you talk

Starting point is 00:10:44 Hey Thomas good morning Where you're calling from I'm calling from Vegas Las Vegas Vegas good morning You up early Yeah, man, I just got off work. I really didn't know where to go.
Starting point is 00:10:56 Where you work at, brother? I'm listening to y'all. Famous Tommy Burgers. Huh? Well, famous Tommy Burgers. Oh, you work at Tommy Burgers? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Yeah. How y'all doing? Good morning, Jess. Good morning, sir. Man. Peace King. Good morning, CJ. Good morning, sir.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Welcome back. I love y'all. I love y'all. I love you. Thank you. Because he's happy to her back. I mean, just going to it. What's going to do you?
Starting point is 00:11:22 What's up, brother? Let's talk to us, brother. What's happening? You know, relationship problems. I'd have been put out of my apartment. Damn. Oh, that's why you said you didn't have no way. I'm sleeping up.
Starting point is 00:11:34 That's right now. Oh, man. She put you out? Or you got evicted or something? Why she put you out for doing something? No, I didn't get evicted. It's so long story. You was cheating?
Starting point is 00:11:47 We both been staying there, and it's kind of been a war of roses. You remember that? movie. I do remember Ward of Rosa. Yeah, it's kind of been a war of the roses situation, and there you go, I was just told I got to leave because it's better off that I did. You know, she's got a kid.
Starting point is 00:12:05 But it's not, I mean, it's better off that you did. I mean, I guess for the household, but if you sleep in on the steps, you have nowhere to go, that's not really good. You have no family? I don't have no choice. You don't have no family? My family is that's a long story. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:22 I'm going to be honest with you. I got to hit more of the story, man. I got to hit more of the story before I come to a conclusion. What did you do? That's another long story. What did I do? Yeah, what did you do to her? It's a long, I, in this situation I'm coming?
Starting point is 00:12:37 I don't know. I don't want to say too much because I'm pretty sure they're going to be listening. Yeah. But, you know, you want me to say, I'll keep it 100 with you. You know what I'm saying? It was a situation now. I know that I have bought this on myself because I have been caught in the past.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Cheezing. That's what it is. Okay. No, I wasn't cheating. I was talking to somebody else. That's cheating. Yeah, cheating. Hey, hey, hey, I don't even need to hear them.
Starting point is 00:13:05 No, no, no, no. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on a blanket. You got your pillow and then... No, no, no, no, no. Hold on. Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Hold on. Let me finish because I took my leg and I was not doing it. And like I said, I might have brought this on because, She thought I was talking to somebody that night when I really wasn't. I was talking to my brother. And then, you know, she went off
Starting point is 00:13:31 and then I showed her what I was doing and it just kept going. Instead of, oh, my bad, I messed up. It just kept going. And it just got worse. And it just kept getting worse. As a man who has formerly lied to his significant other, I don't believe you.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Sounds like you was helping a family member Get some grocery That's what it's my brother Three o'clock in the morning You're whispering to your brother Hey But bro, we're sorry, brother You gotta take the next man
Starting point is 00:14:03 Yeah, that's what I'm doing Yeah, we've been there, done that Get you a pillow, get you a blanket And enjoy them steps for the next couple of days, man You'll be all Nah, it ain't even like that, but Hey, you know what it is, you right? All right, brother, have a good one
Starting point is 00:14:18 Yeah He wanted some sympathy I got to hear all this. I got to hear the whole story if I feel sorry for you. If somebody says a long story. It sounds good. I'm sleeping on the steps.
Starting point is 00:14:26 And the last thing I'm doing, I'm sleeping on the steps is calling the radio. Boy, what? What? Wow. Get it off your chest. 800-585-105-1. If you need to vent,
Starting point is 00:14:36 phone lines are wide open. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's D.J.N.V. Jess Alarious. Sholomey and the Guy. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Long La Rosa filling in for Jess. We got a special guest in the building Yes indeed Drewski What's up, what's up Y'all? How you doing my brother? Good, good
Starting point is 00:14:55 I was just laughing at that clip of you bringing the whole sectional over for that girl Man, man You is, hey man No, this is What's wrong with you man? Yeah, but you kind of did
Starting point is 00:15:06 Hold back a little bit though You didn't go all in Yeah, I thought you was really gonna go crazy with the jokes But you didn't I leave insulting fat people up to you Yeah, wait all right No, I don't do that
Starting point is 00:15:15 No I don't do that Yes you did I tend to Have you been in contact with the fat little boy that you insulted that cause and Knox Mafia? Oh, oh, okay. You don't know how we popped this all this?
Starting point is 00:15:26 I didn't do that, man, man, listen, listen, listen. Have you been keeping in contact with that little boy? No, I'm not in contact with that kid or his mother. But I think I probably will be getting sued at some point from that. I don't know why, but she said she was going to though. Yeah. I don't know how that works though.
Starting point is 00:15:43 I'm new to the money, so I don't know if that actually, does that go through? Yeah, one day your lawyer gonna hit you and be like, Hey, Drusky, you got a civil suit. You're getting sued for ex-Wi. By the way, I'm not even joking. It comes with the territory. You can sue anybody for any thing.
Starting point is 00:15:57 That's going to mean that they're going to win. Oh, okay, yeah. But they can sue you. For how much for that? For calling a kid fat? Yes. Emotional. You know why a lot of people do that is because they figure out you don't want the head out.
Starting point is 00:16:08 But I'm saying, come on, man. Y'all played the clip of Keb throwing me to Alleyoop, though. Yeah, Keb started it for it. He started it. Now, hang on a kid. Now, hang on stage. Now, you're right. I want him to be a Cody.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Like, please you back. They're going to go to Kai. Kai got all that raw footage. Yeah, man, hey, you know. But, nah, honestly, it was, I ended apologizing to the kid, but, yeah. I couldn't tell sometimes when I'm in character and doing, like, these streams, you don't know who's acting and doing all this stuff along with you. So it's like, some people be coming on the stream.
Starting point is 00:16:40 They might be serious. Some people be coming on there as a character. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the kid was there playing something. So I don't know. I really didn't know. When he started crying, I'm like, oh, man. You thought it was fake.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Yeah, I really thought it was fake because I'm like, oh, they're playing into the character of the Adams family. Well, him here, fat wasn't a character. Well, yeah, he actually was a fat kid. But I didn't tee it off, man. I just thought, I'm like, it's all, it's a green light because everybody been calling me fat all night. So you was looking at it like fat kid. Yeah, everybody like, hey, man, sit down, man, sit your fat ass down. So I'm like, oh, okay, this is green life.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Everybody getting called fat in here. So you think we should have called her fat? Is what you saying? She said you can't say that. You got to say F word. Oh, okay. Oh, the girl with the sectional. Big Dank.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Big Dank. Oh, big dank. No, I just thought it was funny as hell that you brought the whole entire sectional. You could have just found a bigger chair with no arms. There was no bigger chair with no arms. He made it worse. Look around the studio.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Where do you see that? Yeah, you're right. There ain't no Satan had. Have you done could have been Love Detroit yet? Yes, we did do Detroit. Damn. She was that. She's from Detroit?
Starting point is 00:17:46 Yes. Damn. I would have signed that, too. Are you saying a big woman? Yeah, yeah. We got some big women on the TV show I got. I mean, love-wise. Are you into big women?
Starting point is 00:17:58 Tough question, brother. What you mean? Tough question. Hey, man, I've been there. I will say I've been there probably before the money and the fame came. You've been there, what? Like dating a big woman? Well, I've been in between and some seams.
Starting point is 00:18:15 You're from Atlanta, of course. There's a lot of big, beautiful women out there. Don't forget where you come from, Drew. Yeah, no, I'm not. That's why I say I stay grounded, you know, even with the money and the fame. I said that. I said I've been there.
Starting point is 00:18:25 I ain't say I might not revisit. Okay. One thing I do appreciate about you, Drewski, is how you show love to studs, man. We don't have enough appreciation for studs and never have. What means you start showing studs to love you do? Well, you know, studs, people don't understand
Starting point is 00:18:38 that studs have an appeal and touch, truthfully. Like, you can share clothes with them. Okay. You could vibe with them. Sometimes they could be a bro. You know, like when you're hanging out with a girl and you'd be like, damn, I feel like I can't express my feelings to her because
Starting point is 00:18:50 she's going to think I'm weak. Studs, they understand that. They got periods, bro. You know what I'm saying? So it's like talking to your homeboy, but it's like talking to a homie, but you can also hit on the side if she with it. You never know. Sometimes the studs, they be sneak-b-b-kin. The stud, they don't tell you all that.
Starting point is 00:19:07 That's what I'm saying. They don't tell y'all that. Studs be sneaking. There's a whole group of people that are like... Yeah, it's called sneak-dicking. What's the indicators? Like, how you know when a stud is with the sneak-d-d-de- or not? You never really know. That's the thing about them being a stud. They're so it's like they got a mask on.
Starting point is 00:19:22 So sometimes you just got to poke at it and try to see, okay, see you're crazy. Not, not. Not actually. But I'm just saying, like, you know, you just try to vibe with them and see how they feel. Some of them, they are stuck up, and they don't go for none of that. So you got to respect those, put them to decide. That's a bro.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Do they f*** like women or do they like, let me get on top? Yeah, they do it, but you still going to hear the masculinity in the voice. Got you. Yeah, so it kind of f*** with you a little bit. How many have you had? Hey, man, we're not here to talk about that.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Yeah, not that, man. But a couple. Yeah, a couple. I think it's why I was... We got some on the show, though. Could have been love. Yeah, I think it's wild when Studge pull out their scrap on,
Starting point is 00:19:59 and then they, like, have another girl shit on it, and then the person with the scrap on be more than. And try to act like it's something going on. Come on, man. Wild to me. Are you into that? Do you watch that type of stuff?
Starting point is 00:20:09 Do I watch it? You, I mean, you just explained it. You did explain that. Y'all both were. Oh, in the comedy. Oh, okay, okay. But it's like, you know, if you get a tattoo, imagine getting a tattoo on a fake arm
Starting point is 00:20:18 and acting like a hair. You know what I'm saying? That's how they do. It's kind of, it's a dumb thing. It's like, let's cut the . Yeah. I get it. No, I know.
Starting point is 00:20:25 And you got the record with Young M.A. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We just, but why do we have to go into that? Yeah, why is it that the transition? That's an amazing sex. You're one of those things and then going to Young & May. Come on, man. Don't do that.
Starting point is 00:20:37 No, that's the bro, dog. But you know what made me think about it? time ago and I asked her that remember she had the line shorty in your head and I asked her how yeah but you know when I when we shot the music video with her for the song could have been loved recently she told me she said you know Drusky I don't be caring because I'm not really a stud she said I don't see myself as that she see herself as something completely different that's why she's like the queen of them because she don't even see herself on that level
Starting point is 00:21:03 are you using the right term and I can probably yeah you're right you're right probably can I think I think young it may mind being caught up no she told me straight up she said I'm not she said I didn't classified as that she told me straight up. She said, I don't want to be called that. She said, I don't get offended. Everybody asked me, like, do you get offended by what Drewski be doing? Yeah. And she said, no, I'm not a stud. She said she in her own lane. I don't even know what they call
Starting point is 00:21:22 her type. Fine. For I really still don't know what they call her type. Younger Mae is a cutie. Laura said she's not in the girls, but she would be in the Younger Bay. I think for a lot of us straight women, she would be doing. Because it's like a Brooklyn. Like, you just... She's tough man. She's a tough cookie to crack. I'll tell you that. So you hands selected her? Like, you're like, I know I want to do this song for my
Starting point is 00:21:40 It could have been love. Yeah. It's because we got so many studs in the house and I know that, you know, you can't do something like that without getting her approval. So I wanted to make sure we was doing everything and following a suit right. That's what it's about.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Yeah, representation. A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers, but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight. So why did it take so long to kill? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York, since the son of Sam, available now.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Listen for free on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Kristen Davis, host of the podcast, Are You a Charlotte? The most anticipated guest from season three is here, The Tray to My Charlotte. Kyle McLaughlin joins me to relive all of the magical Trey and Charlotte moments. He reveals what he thinks of Trey giving Charlotte a cardboard baby. Why would I bring her a cardboard baby? I was literally, I was like, this doesn't track for me at all. When he found out Trey's shortcomings.
Starting point is 00:22:56 I'm kind of excited at talking about, you know, I think he's a guy spends time in Central Park. You know, he's probably, you know, he'll be some surgery stuff, you know. And I was like, all this kind of stuff going on. And they were like, yeah, yeah, yeah, fine. And they said, but he's impotent. And I was like, he's impotent. And why he chose not to return to it just like that. They came and presented an idea.
Starting point is 00:23:14 And I was like, I get, I see it. It's so kind of a one joke idea. You don't want to miss this. Listen to Are You a Charlotte on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there. Dr. Jesse Mills here. I'm the director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health. I want to tell you about my new podcast called Not My Best Moment, where I talk to artists, athletes, entertainers, creators, friends, people I admire who had massive success about their massive failures. What did they mess up on? What is their heartbreak? And what did they learn from it?
Starting point is 00:24:48 I got judged horribly. The judges were like, you're trash. I don't know how you got on the show. Boo, somebody had tomatoes. I'm kidding. But if they had tomatoes, they would have thrown the tomatoes. Let's be honest. We've all had those moments we'd rather.
Starting point is 00:25:02 forget. We bumped our head. We made a mistake. The deal fell through. We're embarrassed. We failed. But this podcast is about that and how we made it through. So when they sat me down, they were kind of like, we got into the small talk and they were just like, so what do you got? What? What? What ideas? And I was like, oh, no. What? Check out not my best moment with me, Kevin on stage on the Iheart radio app, Apple podcast, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, I'm Dr. Priyank Wally. And I'm Hurricane DeBolu. We want to make health less confusing and maybe even a little fun. Find health stuff on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Well, congratulations on the Dunkin' Donuts commercial. Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Not just that, you're getting a lot of endorsement, man. Absolutely. Dunkin' Donuts, Pride picks. It's a bunch of stuff. I did a Nike commercial. Nike commercials. The sign of deal with it. The music festival.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Yeah, yeah, coulda fest. Yeah, it's a bunch of stuff. I don't really know it. I can't keep up with it. Yeah, it's all that. What's more lucrative endorsement money or the money you make off social media doing stuff? It's equally the same kind of.
Starting point is 00:26:58 It just depends on the deal. I think it depends on what the deal. is. So the Super Bowl commercial definitely that was my first time doing that. So that is lucrative. The people out there don't know a Super Bowl commercial is, you know what's crazy? I saw that Jim
Starting point is 00:27:14 Kerry was supposed to be in this Dunkin Donuts commercial with all of us. So, they accidentally Johnny Walbert. Yeah, yeah. Jim Carrey was supposed to be in it and they accidentally sent the amount of money that he was supposed to get for the two hours that he was going to be on set. Wow. And I was mind-blown.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Yeah, this in the back? Yeah, well, we had to act like we didn't see it. Wow. But then my team kind of, yeah, it was up there. Over five million? For two hours to be on set, yeah. Wow. It was up in that area.
Starting point is 00:27:42 And I'm like, what? So we argued back with them. They didn't budge them. You ain't jim character. Yeah, but no, I just thought it was kind of like, damn, like, this is the level to work up to. This is, it was kind of inspirational, though, but seeing the number that they had him there for two hours.
Starting point is 00:27:57 All right, we got more with Druski. When we come back, don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NVJ Just Hilarious. Sholomey and the guy.
Starting point is 00:28:11 We are the Breakfast Club. Lauren Laroosa singing with us as well. We're still kicking it with Druski, Sholomane. Now, you got this new show could have been a love. Are you really looking for love, just?
Starting point is 00:28:20 Yes, yes. Like seriously. No, seriously. And the show will show that I am looking for love. And it was amongst a bunch of girls in the house. You know, I think it was probably
Starting point is 00:28:31 the best situation to do because it's like bringing back the vibes of like Flavor of Love and you know those shows like I love New York and this time because nobody in this generation has seen that I grew up watching that type of stuff you know and that is really what I wanted to bring that vibe of it was like all right
Starting point is 00:28:47 if Flav of Flav can find love Flavre What are you saying? No I'm not saying that I just met the dude he's he still looked the same but he's such a nice person Yeah he's a good yeah nice person Now, when a girl say you're a nice person,
Starting point is 00:29:04 what'd that mean, bro? What'd that mean? No, he's a good dude. No, all jokes like, he's a good guy. But if Flav of Flav can find love on television, I was like, all right, let me just go with his motto. It makes sense, though. So what are you looking for, though?
Starting point is 00:29:19 What type of woman? Like, what's... We got a lot of women that was in the house. Meatball is on there. Yeah, meatball. That's what you're in Philly. Yes. I said, we got the trench babies in there.
Starting point is 00:29:28 You know? So I wanted a selection of all. I have white, black, Latino, BBW. Yeah, we got, well, he's not a contestant. Dr. Hummer. He said, I'm not a contestant. But he is, he did help me find love. We had Bobby Altof.
Starting point is 00:29:43 She was helping us find love. Caleb Presley. Dr. Moore kicked all the white girls off immediately. Yes. Young and May also was helping us as well. Yeah. But, yeah, Dr. Umar, he wasn't with all the, you know, he was straight pro, Afro-American. And he let them know.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Like he was asking some of the Latino girls. He's like, do you see yourself as Afro Latino or just Latino? And I'm like, what the fuck does that mean? It doesn't make sense what he's saying? It's like, what is Afro Latino? He's like, do you believe you are Afro Latino? It didn't, yeah, he's a. What made you go get Dr.uma?
Starting point is 00:30:18 I mean, that Dumas, fantastic. Yes, yes. What made you get him for this in particular? I wanted to see what girls were in it for the money, and I wanted to see what girls were in it, honestly, to be with a king. and he knows all about a king situation like how could you uplift his empire and that was one of the things he preached on in the show
Starting point is 00:30:37 but he got a little we had to get him off set he kind of yeah he started crazy well he yeah he was actually scaring the women on the show we got him offset Jesus yeah it got bad as a joke or he really scared no no I think he he got into his bag of like he started arguing one of the white girls he's really like that no
Starting point is 00:30:56 and it got yeah he really really You'll see it's on It's on around episode three or four I think you'll see So this is serious Like you really looking for love on this show Oh no it was serious In the teaser that you posted on your Instagram
Starting point is 00:31:09 You lean a lot into the whole Ruby Rose People thought that was fake situation So I didn't know this show was like You're really looking for love Or it's another gimmick situation No we just wanted to make it like feel like Yo like this stuff was covered On TMZ and all these pages
Starting point is 00:31:22 We might as well look for love if this is What's going on? It's like yo This year for some reason my love life has mattered the most. So I was like, all right, why wouldn't we do a show? That's kind of what we wanted to show. Like, all right, this is kind of almost makes sense to do right now. In a comedic way, of course.
Starting point is 00:31:38 But I think. You said for some reason. You was in the back of the boat kissing Ruby Rose. That's why we care. I mean, yeah. No, I'm not saying for some reason. I'm just saying it just was, you know, that's what this year consists. I've never really been public relationships.
Starting point is 00:31:51 No, I didn't. Well, I didn't. She did. Yeah, she, you know. He said you paid for PR, not the P. Hey, man. Jesus. Hey, that's neither here nor there.
Starting point is 00:31:58 brother i just you know i just go with the flow i let people talk man i don't did you love love is a strong word did you like her yes i did i did you break your heart um nah i don't think at all i think yeah i think it might have just been my fault i there's some things that that transpired in the midst of all the you know all that bull man you know how this goes oh i don't know what did you cry uh no no we wasn't in that deep that's why i said it wasn't love it wasn't at that point yet but you went public with her which was a big deal i think that's why we all thought it was fake because we were like Like never like you know what it was though it was probably because we grew up around like the same area
Starting point is 00:32:35 so it was kind of like naturally eventually maybe going to happen you know what I mean like it was like because of friends and like other people around her camp being with people around my camp we always would see each other's it was like always like a blow-by situation so it was like yeah maybe yeah but then sometimes he played I ain't got no money yet now you ain't got no money but that was at the time no I'm saying at the time lying to her telling her you You ain't got the money? No, no, no, I'm talking about back then. I'm saying, like, well, we grew up in the same area, so it's like, oh,
Starting point is 00:33:03 because you always wanted her, but you knew you couldn't get her. Well, I ain't say that either, but I'm just saying it's like, ah, but I might. I might, I might, I don't know, but that's it. Did you buy that transpire? No, I don't think I bought no. No, I did, I did, like, some flowers, but it was only like a couple weeks. It just. Wait, your whole relationship with her?
Starting point is 00:33:20 Yeah, it might have been like, I don't know. Two, three weeks? You went in public after two, three weeks? Hey, I was wild. You ain't that great. Yeah, yeah, no, I wasn't on that. You know what it is? It's because I thought, like, all right, this is what we're supposed to do.
Starting point is 00:33:33 I'm thinking, like, oh, we're both in the public eye. This is what's supposed to happen. Like, let me get ahead of it before it happens, type of thing. No, not even before it happens. It's like, I was like, I mean, somebody's going to leak it at some point. We're going out in public and doing stuff. Shout out the reason. Might as well, might not.
Starting point is 00:33:48 You know, like, might as well. So I don't think it was a bad situation to go public. I just think it might have just been a little too early. Like, we're going. public I do believe you can do it too early before y'all get to adjust and like, just like how you can move in with a female too early.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Segway, I think anything that you do like revolving you and like, yeah, look, people would just be making jokes. You posted a photo about you getting ready for the NBA All-Star game. Right, yeah, yeah. And they call they called you Shaquille O'Mill. They called you what? They called you that. They called you. They called you. It was in the comments flaming you.
Starting point is 00:34:21 But see, that's what it is. Sometimes, that's why I say you can't some goofy girls, they'd be like, oh my God, I'm made for you like you have no idea how funny I am and I'm like I have no you have no idea I would never date you you know what I'm saying just because it's like sometimes you don't want a girl that play too much some of those girls that play too much is go too far too like I have had a situation where a girl you know I'm saying kind of like where you you said in that setting in the in the bedroom and she was like damn you got a got between your legs a guy and she wasn't talking about I thought I was like what that mean she said my thighs was making it look like a guy Gat.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Yo, like they touch. Oh, like they spelled the word got? Were you, well, talk about the shorts and I saw the picture. I'm not pronouncing. A gap. A gap. Gat. Gat.
Starting point is 00:35:09 A gout. Like a gun? Gat. Like a gut. Oh, like, God damn. Like a fat old ass. She said my thighs. She said my thighs.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Hey, man, that we're not here to talk about that. I'm just telling you what she said. So that's why I say to say. Sometimes it ain't good to date a girl as goofy. They do too much. And I went from up to downtown real fast. That might not have been goofy. That's just an observation.
Starting point is 00:35:38 No, it's just, hey, it's like, it's like, shut up. Right? It's like, shut up. Yeah, it's like, come on now. Don't say that right now. Because a girl that's goofy always dates a dude that's like quiet, kind of chill. If you ever noticed it, it's not that you can't handle it. Sometimes it'd be too much, man.
Starting point is 00:35:54 It's too much. She told you your thighs rub together now. When she said the guy, it was cool she would have said thys her to get, but she said, you'll make a gap. I'm like, you wear your clothes when you have sex, I can tell me. What you said? You wear your clothes when you have sex? Me or her.
Starting point is 00:36:07 First of all. You wear t-shirts in the pool? You wear a t-shirts in the pool? Hey, no, I'm a t-shirt in the pool type. I'm gonna say, yeah, yeah. I saw you in Turks living your life. You had to. Nah, a little bit, a little bit.
Starting point is 00:36:17 Yeah, I'll throw it up a little bit, but, you know, I'm one of them. I'll put it on like a little, uh, what was some, like a little soccer shirt. Why would you put that? The water shirts. You heard them? Yeah. I noticed that in the could have been video. You look like saucy a little bit.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Huh? What? When you was doing this? Oh, wait. No, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, ain't nothing look like sauce. One time. Yeah. Not saucy, man.
Starting point is 00:36:43 Saucy, come on, man. Now, that's a freaky-ass n-right there. No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying off the, you know, being on them. All right, we got more with Drusky when we come. back. Let's get into his new single. This one features Young Blue and Young M.A. It could have been love. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Morning, everybody. We are the Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Druske. Shalamein. Question. You, Kai and Kev. We know we want to see the movie. Is there actual talks happening? Yes. Yes. He just called his last night spazzing on us. He is Kevin Hart. Yeah, he is in Kevin Hart. Just letting us know. He was like, guys get serious about this.
Starting point is 00:37:23 Because he gave us a list of movies to watch. to study. He wanted us to, I guess I watched some of the movies, but Kai didn't. So he was like, listen, man, it's not like you got to do. Y'all ain't doing it. He said, what movies you got set up for this year? And we both just, I said, come on, Kevin, don't do that to us, man. Don't, but he's, he honestly was just, he's, it's like hard parenting. You know what I mean? He's like letting us know, like, yo, lock in because this is like, I'm trying to get y'all to that next level of thinking, like, all right, if I'm telling you to study this or do this or
Starting point is 00:37:51 study the script or look at this movie, that definitely is something you should do because this is going to benefit your future. So, you know, he just was taking it hard on this. But, yeah, nah, I think we have a bunch of meetings set up right now to where we'll be shooting very soon. I don't know exactly the month, but it will be this year. Have you seen the script? Have you seen the...
Starting point is 00:38:09 I've seen part of the script at the beginning of it. It's at the beginning stages to where they're, like, in a writing room right now. So writing room means, like, multiple different writers are, like, punching up jokes on it. And then also, all of us have, like, a say-so on what's being written. I do like that Kev does that for y'all because there is another level I know that you and Kai making a whole lot of money but there is another level to all this.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Yeah, he's like, yo, you guys are lit but, you know, if you want to be the man forever or, you know, a superstar, this is the type of stuff you got to do. So he's just giving that firm parenting of like take this serious. Like I understand y'all, you know, saying, oh, I'm busy, I'm doing.
Starting point is 00:38:47 But seriously, guys, what movies you got set up right now? A Project X-style movie. Was that one of the movies he asked you all to watch? Um, what made you say that? What was that list? No, it's, hey, I don't want to say because then that'll give off our idea of whatever we're shooting.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Who told you Project X style? It is fit your mind. That's common sense. A Project X style movie with you, Drewski, Kev. Kai can be on. You said you, Drewskiy, sir. Yeah, I mean.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Yes, you're right. Guy on stream and Kai. You know what you're on this whole guy? With you, Kevin, Kai. Yeah. And literally, Kai can be on screen the whole movie.
Starting point is 00:39:23 And as the end. And as he screams, the scream gets bigger, but the party keeps getting big in and bigger at the house. I will say that this movie will be amazing. Whatever we do, I don't know the specifics all the way through yet. We're still in the writer room. So, yeah, nah, Kev is honestly being like the father figure and setting all this up. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:42 And he really is, like, locked in. Amongst all the other stuff he's got going on as well. Like, he's really, he's locked in. Listen, it's right there. I looked at Kiki Palm and Scissor, their movie is that. $40 million is the one that you should Raper do. I feel like y'all can do that or even more. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:59 I agree. I agree. You know what I mean? And it's not going going to cost a lot to shoot a movie with you. Like y'all, yeah, that's the next level. I agree. Well, this weekend you're going to be at the NBA Celebrity All-Star game. Can you play ball? I've been training. I've been training with a trainer from OTE overtime.
Starting point is 00:40:16 And yeah, he's trained like Bradley Bill amongst other NBA players and stuff. So, Corey Frazier. Huh? Like, you really trying to go out and winning MVP as well? Yeah, I'm trying to win MVP, because of course I'm going to be entertaining and while and now and stuff, but I got you got to put up some points to get the MVP. Is Gilly
Starting point is 00:40:31 in the game? Uh, no, I don't think. Oh, they f***ed it. If Gilly was in the game, he won an MVP and they are close. NBA just got to do better on the rosters, man. They got to I think they just should bring a little bit more of like our world into it. NFL did a good job this past week. With the flag football?
Starting point is 00:40:47 Yeah, yeah. They had like me, Lotto, sexy red, Kai, speed they just had they had like people that like people understand like these are celebrities with NBA they got there's a lot of people on my team conversations on your team oh shibuzzi no I know Shibuzzi no I know Shibuzzi on your team Matt Barnes I knew that yeah Chris Brickley the trainer oh yeah Terrell Owens
Starting point is 00:41:09 so the Drewski's point he needs more of his generation no I'm just saying like I just think that they I'm what you should have a couple more your generation yeah my generation Should end there. No. No, he's not on there. Not saying it has to be that either.
Starting point is 00:41:24 I'm just saying like... What position you put on the team? I think I'm probably going to run point. Definitely not. It's not going to be right. You should have been to be a fucking card. You need to be playing center. Hey, man, listen.
Starting point is 00:41:38 And what y'all will see after I win MVP that I am at the guard position. You're not playing guard. You're not playing guard. You're not playing guard. Somebody online said I'm playing the wrong guard position. position. They said it's for football. You should do security. I agree. Somebody said a pulling guard.
Starting point is 00:41:55 I agree. What are you doing for Valentine's? What are you doing for Valentine's Day? Oh, man. The game kind of messes up any Valentine's Day plans I got with a bunch of girls. I had a bunch of them lined up. You got to work? I had a bunch of them lined up. I just, I'm playing in the game. I'm busy.
Starting point is 00:42:11 I'm busy. Like I said, like I said, like, why can't she go with you to all-star weekend? Hey, I'm locked in. I'm trying to get MVP. True, true, true. All the ones I had lined up, I can't do it. Yeah, I can't do the whole rose pedal at the hotel thing. I can't run it. Well, it could have been love is out now.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Where can they see it? They can see it on my YouTube at Drewski. So, yeah, it could have been love. Let's do it. We appreciate you for joining that. Yeah, follow Drewski if you're not already, but who is it? It's Drewskiy, ladies and gentlemen. It's the breakfast club good border.
Starting point is 00:42:37 A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers. But it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight. So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York, since the son of Sam, available now.

Starting point is 00:47:26 We got some special guests in the building with us this morning. No, we have one special guests. Yeah, we always say we got special guests in the building. It don't always apply to everybody. This one definitely applies. do when the star don't show up like, yo, see if we can get Donnell to come in. But I'm cool with that. We have Ashley Larry, Donnell Rawlins, and we have a special guest that hasn't done radio in 12 years.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Oh, man, the legendary. That's right. Iconic. Dave Chappelle. Oh, my God. Good morning. Welcome, son. Hey, good morning, man.
Starting point is 00:47:57 It's good see. Do you feel pressure to do a great radio interview since you haven't done it in 12 years? Not really. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I just want everybody like me. I don't come out and try to do bad. I saw you at the fight, Charlemagne. Yes, I was at the Triple G Danny Jacobs fight.
Starting point is 00:48:15 And I got to tell you, I got excited to see and I realized I've never met this person. That's how I felt. I saw you a few rows up. I'm like, that's Dave Chappelle. And then you turned around and you saluted, but I'm like, I don't think he's doing that to me. I didn't want to salute back at first. I didn't want to salute back at first. I'm like, oh, he's talking to me.
Starting point is 00:48:33 I told my wife, I said, yeah, you see Dave Chappelle just say, what's up to me? So I'm saying all that to say, you know, I got really good filetio that night because you said what's up to me oh whoa i didn't know where that was going to you know like wow i said wow okay is that what we're doing this marital phlegia do you wake in baking in the morning david do you wait until after breakfast yeah yeah i'm a waiter i usually late at night oh at night okay okay okay you said something interesting you said you don't ever want to just present something bad you still feel like you got something to prove because you're like critically acclaimed you're respected by your peers you feel still like you got something to prove
Starting point is 00:49:10 No, it's not, it's not necessarily like you feel like you have something to prove it. I'm sure you guys feel the same way. It's like quality control, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You want to make sure that whatever you offer, you put your best foot forward. You know, that doesn't mean you want to prove anything. It just means you respect the people that respect you, and you want to reciprocate their respect with a good product.
Starting point is 00:49:29 You still get nervous when you do shows, or this is a piece of cake to you? Well, one time it didn't work out. Yeah, sometimes don't worry. You know what it's like? And Donnell, you're going to test it. When people ask me, like, do you get nervous when you go on stage? It's like asking a pilot if he gets nervous before a flight. I might hit some weather.
Starting point is 00:49:46 It's a nervous. Yeah. I might hit some weather, but I feel like normally we land the plane. I don't think we've ever not landed. Maybe Detroit, but other than that. By the way, I would never want to know if my pilot was nervous, by the way. Yeah, you wouldn't know a nervous pilot. I'm just a little confused because everybody's throwing so much respect.
Starting point is 00:50:04 And, Dave, I've been on this show four or five times. When I come here, they don't even look me in my face. They don't make eye contact That's not true Donnell Every time I come here Y'all on social media You sound better
Starting point is 00:50:15 What about that time You came and I told everybody I said no matter what Donnell Says do not laugh Us He was like 20 minutes It was like slow motion So I was like oh
Starting point is 00:50:28 This looked like the setup What made you even Like Donnell Was it was What Damn What was it in Donnell That said
Starting point is 00:50:36 You know what I can work with this guy Oh The first time I heard about you, I went home to D.C. And I went to the comedy club, and I asked him with old comedy. I was like, what's popping around here? And everybody was like, yo, you got to see this new kid Donnell, Rawlings. And then I met you, and we had a swell time.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Remember that? Yeah, I do. You remember all right. Swell time. We're going to leave him. David, that he got to regretting it. No, no, no, no. But we didn't have that bad, yeah, he won't leave me alone.
Starting point is 00:51:05 He comes with me everywhere. I'm broke, bitch! I watch the, like, okay, like, I watch your show online all the time. Like, I watch all you guys. I've seen the, I just watch an interview that you did with Neil on FaceTime. Yep, that's my guy. I watched you on a real estate show. Oh, yeah, open house.
Starting point is 00:51:24 And then I saw you with the DJ Awards. I presented award to you. Yeah, and you promised you said, I'm going to come on the show. You said, you know, I need a little time, but I'm going to come. Yeah, that's right. That's right. You definitely kept your word. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Sluo to my guy, Neil. Why do you think white people would grab me? toward you, your comedy. Because it's been like that your whole career. Well, you know, I don't know. I don't look at it that way. Like, the whites are really gravitating to it. I don't use those, I don't use those kinds of metrics.
Starting point is 00:51:52 I think all of us, at some point, we have ventured into some kind of cultural crossroad. We're black people, where we're corporate people. We all smoke weed. We all smoke weed. We all, you know, we traverse the American landscape. So I don't think there's anyone in America because I'm incapable of communicating to on some level.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Now, when everything's so sensitive now, do you think you could do the Dave Chappelle show and not have backlash? Because it seems like everything is sensitive. You say a word and people are already crying and pick it in outside of things. Hey, man. President Grazgerl's about a .
Starting point is 00:52:23 That's all you need to know, right? That's what I've said. You know, and comedians wipe out. You know, everybody does. Sometimes you're going to say something and you might be wrong, but that's the nature of the genre. You know, to not take a chance for fear of that would be,
Starting point is 00:52:43 would not be being true to the music. Would you ever apologize if you said something too far? If I can see, if I actually can see this too far. But it's a touchy line, you know what I mean? I go, I like it harder. I think that, yeah. No, I'm going to say you have quite possibly the greatest rape joke of all time. Oh, the Bill Cobby.
Starting point is 00:53:04 He rapes. And he says. And he says. But he says. What do you say? Was that an observation you was pondering? I mean, you know, the thing is, this is a thing that's tough to talk about jokes because I don't want to open the door with all these weird, like, analytics and shit.
Starting point is 00:53:20 Like, what does he actually mean by that? That's a slippery slope. Well, you know, I don't want to antagonize anybody or intentionally offend somebody. Have you come up with an answer for as far as, like, what should we do with Bill Cosby? Should we still watch his work? Should we still appreciate his? Art. Do you have an answer for that? Yeah. No, the question,
Starting point is 00:53:40 it's a kind of question that makes more questions. Got you. You know what I mean? Like, it's a tough one, man, because, you know, what he's accused of is very serious. I don't I don't, like, take that lightly. However, you know, I don't know. It was 70s. Times, it's crazy shit's going on. I don't know what the... I don't know what to say.
Starting point is 00:53:57 Yeah. America's dad is now America's rapist. Yeah. According to the New York Post. Yeah. So it's a tough one. All right. We got more with Dave Chappelle and Donnell Rollins, when we come back, don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:54:09 Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV, Angela Yee. Shalameen the guy, we are the Breakfast Club. We have Dave Chappelle and Donnell Rawlins in the building. I did appreciate on those specials that you didn't shy away from any topics because I do feel like everybody's so politically
Starting point is 00:54:23 correct. You know, and I also find it ironic that everybody's like he walked away from 50 million, but then you came back and got 60 million doing Netflix to do some specials. Yeah, well, you know what? Yeah. Thank God that there was a happy ending to that walking away from Chappelle show Because I could have just never worked again
Starting point is 00:54:40 You know But I never stopped Even when I was like not in the public guy I was still playing comedy clubs And I found the altitude that I was comfortable with And you know I had a good time How many times a day did Donnell call you and beg you to come back?
Starting point is 00:54:55 He didn't call him and beg me for nothing Were you guys always in communication Because Donnell did for a while He was in a state of depression after. Donnell was Jesus. Yeah, I had a tough time myself. He was like, what about me?
Starting point is 00:55:14 I think, you know, when I was gone, I think I stayed, Donnell stayed in touch with me and Neil were cool the whole time, you know. It wasn't as a bad blood amongst like people would assume that I left in the hub it wasn't like that. I mean, I did leave in the hub, I wasn't mad at the guys. A lot of people, like, after, you know,
Starting point is 00:55:30 after he left, a lot of people would ask me, you know, how I feel about it, Are you upset? And I never was upset because I was doing comedy for a while before I was introduced to Dave Chappelle. And like with anything, you can be as talented as you want, but until you get the right platform, nobody will never know about it.
Starting point is 00:55:46 Gotcha. So, you know, I don't know if I can be in a Dave Chappelle sitting here, but go ahead. What you're saying? What you said? What did you have a minute? Let me ask you have another question, please.
Starting point is 00:55:57 What you mean I went on bad at me? What you did you say? What you mean? What you been on those Chappelle's, you know? I speak me, go, so I know what happened. But for, you know, everybody, you know, the one that I've been asked that question a million times that I always felt that I was talented,
Starting point is 00:56:13 but again, you need the right opportunity. Like, even in sports, you know, you could be a talented person, but until the coach puts you in the game, nobody will never see what you do. So he gave me a platform to do what I've been doing for years, and I think there was an even exchange after all that. Okay, so Dave, do you have a,
Starting point is 00:56:27 do you have a favorite mumble rapper? Because you're a hip-hop head. Do you appreciate anything from this generation? Yeah, I appreciate it. I mean, I party to it. If I go out, they play Amigos, I listen to that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But a favorite mumble rap, I don't know about all that.
Starting point is 00:56:44 Yeah, yeah. I like to be able to say the lyrics, too. Well, I can tell who you really like based on who you have on tour. Well, when you do this residency that you're doing in New York City or Radio City, I can see that you handpicked the artist that you wanted to be there. Yeah, you know, it's funny, man. So this year will be like my 30th. anniversary standard.
Starting point is 00:57:03 I figured, like, why, I should mark that occasion, right? Like, you know, this business is hard. You exist in a long time, and it's good to stop for a minute and just appreciate the fact that you, I'm still able to do this. And I'm very lucky to be successful, so it's, it's, it's a
Starting point is 00:57:20 celebration. Like, even now, you'll see my next special. The act I'm doing now, I like it, because there's joy in it. Like, I'm really enjoying what I'm doing right now. really you know what I mean it's like I want skydiving once have you ever done it no envy has I have yeah okay I I hated it you know I like what did you hate about it
Starting point is 00:57:42 because I hate it going up I hate the thought of jumping out of a plane but when you jump out I hate watching on YouTube the people I enjoyed that part but the whole going up part I didn't like it because it was terrifying the entire time like okay I got out yeah in the beginning it's a plane right then the door opens yep and you realize you expected to jump out. And I'm strapped to a guy that I've never met before. And I didn't see the shoot pack. And oh, my God, I have kids. And all this is stuff
Starting point is 00:58:08 you're thinking as you edge up to the door. Next you know, you're just in the sky. There's no logical reason to be there. There's no, you know, my life didn't depend on any yet. I jumped out of this plane and you're just falling. And everyone says it feels like flying. But to me, it felt like
Starting point is 00:58:24 falling at about 120 miles. And I was terrified. So what did you get out of the situation other than being terrified. Well, the point is when the shoot lands and you survive it, you go home that night and you eat dinner, food tastes better. House is quiet
Starting point is 00:58:40 and stealing it. You feel comfortable and safe in your house. You're like, man, I'm glad to be home. Everything's good. So that's what it felt like it felt like coming back and doing this Netflix special and all that. It felt like my shoot open and everything is just good, right? Yeah, I don't got to do all that to get that feeling. I'm black in America.
Starting point is 00:58:56 All I got to do is this drive through the neighborhood that I live in and make it home without being stopped and I feel the exact same thing. I live in a much nice and they go to the office. I'm not kidding. I was kidding. I mean, we're all black. You know what I mean.
Starting point is 00:59:12 Like, I know what you mean, but it's not like I'm going to try to survive a traffic stop just to get that feeling. I mean, it's like, it's a black experience. But I did it. I don't know why I did it. But the point is that now there's just, I'm happy to be doing what I'm doing. Would you do it again?
Starting point is 00:59:27 What, quit my show? No. Skydyes. Oh, skydye. No, I don't think I would, man. I mean, like, I get it. I know what it's about. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:59:38 I just think that, you know, it's just one of those things. I didn't even mean to do it the first time. It's a long story. Dave, I hate to do this, but I have to put you on the spot. But could you explain to the breakfast club what you did to my apple pie a year ago?
Starting point is 00:59:54 What? Is this cold for something? No, he's talked. Okay, so we're playing. at the Paps Blue Ribbon Theater. And the pastry chef and Donnell hit it off the first night at engagement. She was white. And Donnell just, oh.
Starting point is 01:00:09 That's when you were looking at a face. No, no, no, but she was an older woman, real sweet woman. And she really liked Donnell. So I came to work, and she had baked him a pie. And the pie had his name stenciled in the crust. Wow. And I was excited about it because every day she would come to where she says, Is there anything that you could do for, is there anything special you want?
Starting point is 01:00:32 I was like, make me a pie. She was like, that's pretty simple. I said, well, if that's so simple, make me a pie and put my name on the top of the pie. What did you put your dick in the pie or something? What's the moral of the store? That is correct. Yo, yo, yo, yo, no, just the word by the pie. And you ate it?
Starting point is 01:00:51 I was excited about the pie. Oh, I think, okay. No, no, I was showing everybody in pie. I didn't actually put my d'i in it. Would you have to eat in the pie? And he kept going. He was like, because somebody put that pie in the microwave for three seconds. So as much of people love Dave Chappelle, he's an evil friend, Ron Sage, man.
Starting point is 01:01:10 That was funny, man. All right, we got more with Dave Chappelle. When we come back, don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody is DJ NV Angela Yee. Charlemagne de Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. We have Dave Chappelle and Donnell Rawlings in the building.
Starting point is 01:01:23 Charlemagne. When the last time you've been humbled, Dave? Humbled? Yeah. You mean, like, what, professional? Or personally or personally? Both. Detroit?
Starting point is 01:01:31 Yo, you, man, life is humiliating. Hmm. Yeah, life for you? For everybody. Yo, you think if I'm walking down street and a lady says,
Starting point is 01:01:41 you know, can I take a picture and she doesn't know how to work or camera and we all staying in there. But you do that because you got to, you know,
Starting point is 01:01:47 you got to have empathy for people. But life is humility. Being a parent's humiliating. Being a husband's humiliating. All of it's humiliating. Highside of 2020. Was everything worth it? Like everything?
Starting point is 01:01:59 you went through, like, even the Shepal show experience and even walking away from it, was it all worth it? Hey, man, yeah, I was happy to have that show, you know? I'm sorry, it ended the way it ended, but I enjoyed making that show. It was an experience that
Starting point is 01:02:15 very few people get to have. Do you miss it? Do you miss it, especially with everything going on and so much material? He said, I have a great skit for this. Because I see some stuff, and I say, damn, I miss this Shepal show. Yeah, I miss it, too. You know, but I think I don't know if I could do it again, though,
Starting point is 01:02:30 because I miss it, but then I remember what it was like to do it, and it just wasn't, it might be easier now to make, just because of technology. Yeah, but the internet ruined shit, because... It wouldn't be the same. Yeah, stuff that you want to do, somebody will do on YouTube 10 times faster and 10 times worse. Right, yeah, it's true.
Starting point is 01:02:49 But you did employ a lot of people. It was great, yeah. I worked with a lot of great people. I was doing a show in Atlanta the other night and bumped into, like, some of the guys from the crew. I hadn't seen those guys since I walked up to the set. It was good to see them. And, you know, you remember people fondly, like,
Starting point is 01:03:04 after it's all said and done. So, you know, I do have bad feelings about how it ended, but I don't have bad feelings about what it was. It was a great experience. Now, how did Charlie Murphy's pass and affect you? Because I know you guys were pretty close. Oh, it was tough, man. It was a reality.
Starting point is 01:03:19 I feel very lucky that I got to know. I feel like he's a very large part of the reason that I got to be successful. Like, literally, he changed. my life just by saying I fought Rick James many times really what I didn't know you can say I didn't know you can say on the radio but no he said he fought Rick James many times that we tell us a story at lunch and it literally from then on it just changed our lives. You immortalized him. Yeah, man, but, you know,
Starting point is 01:04:02 I got to, like, meet and work with Rick, and I mean, you know, Charlie, and he was an OG, like, Charlie's been around the block. He's, you know, his brother, is Eddie Murphy. He's seen the epicenter of, like, the fame that we all wanted to acquire.
Starting point is 01:04:18 And he had great stories, and he was also a real nurturing dude. I think he gave me great advice. You know, I miss his presence, man. I was real sad to you die. He's doing a great job. on power. He is on a great job. He took Donnell's job. He did.
Starting point is 01:04:32 He definitely took that job. He didn't have that role. That's when you busted you in New York. But I will say, you know, like you, when other people get stuff away from yourself, it's hard to celebrate that, but, you know, when I found out that Charlie was doing that role, I realized that he was probably a perfect person for him. And in hindsight, as far as with him passing away or whatever, I just think this is a nice thing for people to see him being a part of a great body of work like that.
Starting point is 01:04:57 And he did a good job. Did Charlie's death make y'all think about your own mortality? Because I know Donnell called me one day random. He was like, yo, I just want to tell you, man, you know what I'm saying? You know, people dying and you might die. So I just want to tell you, I love you, you're doing a good job. Like, what? No, I will say, and I know they may have different answers.
Starting point is 01:05:14 Like, when someone passed away, especially when somebody that you care about, it makes you think about people important in your life and the people that you respect. And I don't know. I was probably, you know, in my feelings that day. But I, and it was at a time when you just dropped your book, and I'm seeing like your transition from not just doing urban stuff but like the media run that you did I'll keep it real all the white folks did you partner up with and all the internet you did I was like I was like he's taking it to the next level and another thing in our community is not too often the people read books so the fact that you know a brother put a book out and he got people that wouldn't normally pay attention at right like I know it's hard to say and I don't I didn't say, um, no homo before I said that I love you.
Starting point is 01:06:01 And I know that's what. That's what I probably threw you off. And I didn't say pause at the end, right? That cancer's out. Those is my real. I thought you were sick. No, no. The way you called, I thought he was sick.
Starting point is 01:06:11 I thought he was like, because that's the one time that we really appreciate people. That's real. It's in death. Right. That's true. When someone passed away, it makes you think about so many times in our life, we get to a point where you say to yourself, I want to call that person just to say hi or just say, what's up. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:27 And you don't. act on those feelings. It didn't something tragedy happened and then you're like oh man I was just supposed to call him so that was me and my mom
Starting point is 01:06:34 you know sometimes on a tour bus Donnell gets drunk and looks at pictures of his son and cries Oh you do I love him I sniffle of son
Starting point is 01:06:42 He did I'm just tell you this I can believe that That's cute though I called him doing it a few times You ever met Donnell Baby mom? Yeah of course
Starting point is 01:06:51 Yeah of course She's wonderful We've vacationed together Yeah I see that You guys were on the yacht well yeah why is it well yeah because I thought it was a yacht
Starting point is 01:07:02 until I saw a puffy shit oh that was so y'all just went on puffy so we had a boat that we had a boat you don't feel the need to compete with stuff like that though not at all yeah I'm really like
Starting point is 01:07:15 really really happy right now and I you know I appreciate it like my kids are safe right now I know where they are everyone's happy everyone's fed and clean and It's good luck, man. Everyone's fed and clean. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:30 Now, we've seen you pop out with Chris Rock a couple of times. Another legend, another icon. Yeah, he's the, that's the homie, man. It's only two of y'all in that space, though. Yeah, Chris is there. He's definitely a big brother, though. He's like, he's killing it. I saw his act, I seen him a few times.
Starting point is 01:07:45 What he's doing? He's killing it right now. He's saying maybe you guys would do a tour together. Well, we are going to do two nights together at Radio City. It'll be the first time we've ever. officially headlined a show, a co-headlined a show together. And I'm very excited about it.
Starting point is 01:08:01 Wow. It's the first time any comic has ever done a residency of a month at Radio City Music Hall. Dave is a real humble dude. He's not going to say really a spectacle of what's about to go down. But nobody's ever done a joint where
Starting point is 01:08:15 like the entire month of August we locking everything down. We got some of the best. Who's we, son? Who's we, son? Wait, so you gave down. Who's we? Who's not. Leave. I'm going to one show. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 01:08:31 Don't let me get beefos. Don't let me run my stuff. Don't let me. I'm going to be out of this, Dave. I don't think y'all need no other comedians on those days. And to be quite honest,
Starting point is 01:08:42 I'd be quite honest, you don't. But, you know what I'm saying, we got a team. I'm not, I'm going to do some of the shows. But how do you know that? Forcing yourself on the show?
Starting point is 01:08:51 I'm going to rape day set. You just going to rape their shows? You're so disposed. Do you ask him sit to perform? Well, in the event, did I have the opportunity to perform? So, yeah, the understudy. Yeah, the understudy. He's totally going to be on it.
Starting point is 01:09:03 All right, we are the Breakfast Club. Now, coming up next, usually we do rumors, but, I mean, damn it, man, Dave Chappelle is here. We're going to kick it with Dave Chappelle some more, so don't move. It's the Breakfast Club, good morning. Now, usually we do rumors right here, but, I mean, Donnell Rawlings and Dave Chappelle is here. Dave Chappelle hasn't done radio in 12 years. So we're kicking it with Dave Chappelle. A decade ago, I was on the trip.
Starting point is 01:09:25 of one of the country's most elusive serial killers, but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight. So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York since the son of Sam, available now.
Starting point is 01:09:46 Listen for free on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Kristen Davis, host of the podcast. podcast, are you a Charlotte? The most anticipated guest from season three is here. The Trey to my Charlotte. Kyle McLaughlin joins me to relive all of the magical Trey and Charlotte moments. He reveals what he thinks of Trey giving Charlotte a cardboard baby. Why would I bring her a cardboard baby? I was literally, I was like, this doesn't track for me at all. When he found out Trey's shortcomings, I'm kind of excited at talking about, you know, I think he's a guy spends time with
Starting point is 01:10:25 Central Park, you know, he's probably, you know, he'll be some surgery stuff, you know. And I was like, all this kind of stuff going on. And they were like, yeah, yeah, yeah, fine. And they said, but he's impotent. And I was like, he's impotent. And why he chose not to return to it just like they came and presented an idea. And I was like, I get, I see it. It's so kind of a one joke idea. Right. You don't want to miss this. Listen to, are you a Charlotte on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there. Dr. Jesse Mills here. I'm the director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health, and I want to tell you about my new podcast called The Mailroom. And I'm Jordan, the show's producer.
Starting point is 01:11:02 And like a lot of guys, I haven't been to the doctor in many years. I'll be asking the questions we probably should be asking, but aren't. Because guys usually don't go to the doctor unless a piece of their face is hanging off or they've broken a bone. Depends which bone. Well, that's true. Every week, we're breaking down the unique world of men's health, from testosterone and fitness to diets and fertility, and things that have. happen in the bedroom. You mean sleep? Yeah, something like that, Jordan. We'll talk science without the jargon and get you real answers to the stuff you actually wonder about. It's
Starting point is 01:11:35 going to be fun, whether you're 27, 97, or somewhere in between. Men's Health is about more than six packs and supplements. It's about energy, confidence, and connection. We don't just want you to live longer. We want you to live better. So check out the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. What up y'all? It's your boy, Kevin on stage. I want to tell you about my new podcast called Not My Best Moment, where I talk to artists, athletes, entertainers, creators, friends, people I admire who had massive success about their massive failures. What did they mess up on? What is their heartbreak? And what did they learn
Starting point is 01:12:14 from it? I got judged horribly. The judges were like, you're trash. I don't know how you got on the show. Boo. Somebody had tomatoes. I'm kidding. But if they had tomatoes, they would have throwing the tomatoes. Let's be honest. We've all had those moments we'd rather forget. We bumped our head. We made a mistake. The deal felled through. We're embarrassed. We failed. But this podcast is about that and how we made it through. So when they sat me down, they were kind of like, we got into the small talk and they were just like, so what do you got? What? What ideas? And I was like, oh, no. What? Check out not my best moment with me, Kevin on stage on the Iheart radio app, Apple podcast, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 01:12:55 Hi, I'm Dr. Priyank Wally. And I'm Hurricane DeBolu. On our new podcast, health stuff, we demystify your burning health questions. You'll hear us being completely honest about our own health. I'm talking about very serious stuff right now, and you're laughing at me. And you'll hear candid advice and personal stories from experts who want to make health care more human. Sometimes you're there to listen, to understand, to empathize, maybe to give them an understanding or a name for what's going on. That helps people a lot, understanding that it's not just in their head.
Starting point is 01:13:27 We are breaking down the science, talking with experts, and sharing practical health tips you can actually use in your day-to-day life. From when to utilize and avoid artificial light to how to sleep better. Everything you need to know about fiber and how to poop better. How to minimize the effects of jet lag and how to stay hopeful in times of distress. We human beings, all we want is connection. We just want to connect with each other. we want to make health less confusing and maybe even a little fun find health stuff on the iHeart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts charlemagne i want to ask you what do you draw the line when it comes to like a cultural
Starting point is 01:14:04 appropriation what do you mean white people appropriating like black culture uh okay this is a controversial question and i'm not sure if the premise of the question is correct For example, Kylie and Kindle today superimposed their images on Biggie and Tupac. T-Shirt. And they got T-shirts. Right. Okay. And as a black person, a person from that culture, you feel like they, uh, mis-respectful.
Starting point is 01:14:35 It's disrespectful. Yeah. Yeah, man, that's a tough one. Did you go see the Tupac movie? No, I haven't. I saw it. Did you like it? I don't think it was as terrible as everybody was saying, but it wasn't.
Starting point is 01:14:47 I haven't heard good things in that. Someone yesterday told it. It wasn't like, it starts before Tupac is born and it ends when he dies. That's a long period of time to cover and so many things that happen in Tupac's life. And he was such a complex person and so many different incidents. Do you ever had a club when Tupac was there? No, never. It wasn't that much fun.
Starting point is 01:15:09 Really? Why, scary? Yeah, I just remember being in parties. It just felt like a lot of dark shit was around a guy. I liked them. I didn't know him well, but I just felt like. culturally that those were darker times. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 01:15:22 It's a gangster. Right. You know, and I'm not saying this would be controversial. I don't even, this has nothing to do with the question that you asked me. Oh, I just thought you got out the question like a UFC fight. No, no, it was good. You know, I've been watching, Charlotte, man. I was ready for you.
Starting point is 01:15:37 Everyone was like, just ignore him. He was like, I just said two-party. I just didn't think, yeah, I mean, you know. But do you plan to see it? to just get an idea for yourself? I'm going to watch it at home probably. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know, man.
Starting point is 01:15:56 The question you're asking, I think, is a very important question, but I'm not sure how to answer that. Gotcha. You know what I mean? Because at a certain point, I feel like no one's going to feel that way more than African America.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Because we create so much culture and oftentimes it's siphoned from us. And it's almost all that we've ever had. I'm not going to say all we've ever had. We've done many great things, but you know what I mean. Yeah, absolutely. But it is American culture, too. Kylie and Ken are like, they don't understand what they're tapping into.
Starting point is 01:16:29 They don't understand. I don't think they were doing that maliciously. I just think that they don't, they're never going to be a black dude. They're not going to see the world. If you had some glasses that someone could put on just to see the world how you saw the world, it'd be probably fucking terrified. Yeah. You know, I heard.
Starting point is 01:16:48 that interview with you. I get it. I know what you mean. Yeah, I get it, but that's a hard question to answer. Do your kids think you're funny? Yeah. Yeah, I mean, look, I'm their dad, so there's something about me that's corny to them, but they, but they, yeah, they get it.
Starting point is 01:17:04 They know. Like, my kids are teenagers in there. My youngest son is as old as I was when I started doing Stanley. It's 14. Wow. He started at 14? Yeah, I started really young. Wow. 30 years. I'll be 44 this. This summer.
Starting point is 01:17:20 Veteran, seasoned. Yeah, and it'll be my 30th anniversary. I'm, like, really proud of that. What made you get on stage at the age of 14? The fear of death. Well, you have been thinking about your own mortality. Well, yo, we're black dudes in America. So, right, when I was in high school, my freshman year of high school,
Starting point is 01:17:38 I talked about on an action studio. On 600 kids, my age, got murdered in Washington, D.C. You can't be in an environment like that, and they're not affecting. I'm like, yo, it made me want to just do whatever it was I wanted to do. I feel very lucky to get to be 44. Right. Which, you know, now I'm more ambitious and I'm looking forward to paying half-priced to movies and shit. But before that, I didn't know I was going to live this long, you know.
Starting point is 01:18:04 And I think the fear of not doing what I want to do in life made me do what I want to do. Even in Kevin Hart's book, he talks about doing comedy because he was just trying to survive, too. Like, just being funny is what actually helped him not... Yeah, I wonder what makes you believe the stage can save you, though. It absolutely did. Look at a guy like Kevin Hart's motherfachshunds from Philly. He is the number one selling artist on tour on earth from any genre. You know, I'm very proud that somebody from my genre is at the top of the food chain.
Starting point is 01:18:37 It's right. And it's somebody I remember him starting out. It's amazing to see it and he's absolutely could save your life. What made you think? that you're fast-talking and your liking of controversial questions would take you as far as it had. That's true.
Starting point is 01:18:52 And yet... And I've never met you, but you're one of the few celebrities I've met in a long time. Like, literally, I feel like I know you, and I've only seen you once. It means you're very effective at what you do. In my opinion, I would say it means you're very effective.
Starting point is 01:19:10 But I still feel like I can get shot because of my fast-talking in a controversy. But God forbid, no, man, you've transcended that. You know, look, anything terrible can happen to anybody. But there's some people that get shot that never get a platform. They never get to write a book. They never get to, I mean, everybody knows your name. You meet famous people.
Starting point is 01:19:30 They already know where you are. It's amazing. Yeah. You know, it's a real about that. I was so where somebody came up to me when to take a picture, they thought I was him. No, they didn't. I swear to God, I'm disrespectful.
Starting point is 01:19:39 I was like, I said, no. No, they're disrespectful to who? That's not happened. I swear to God, he was like, are you Charlemagne, the God? Wow. I was like, you don't get to fuck him. That's disrespectful. Why are you so mad about that, Charlamagne?
Starting point is 01:19:53 You wasn't mad with Morris Chestnut. That's Morris Chestnut. I mean, that's different. You know what I said? Morris Chestnut, you get mistaken Morris Chestnut, and Maris Chestnut get mistaken for you. Now, that's the big deal. And who do we hear up for tickets?
Starting point is 01:20:06 Oh, you guys, you're good. You're good money. Until we get to the door, we got to call down that one. Winnie! Donnell's like, I would never not be used. I beg your part. I would love to get that call. Yo, this is a breakfast club.
Starting point is 01:20:21 We outside. Huh? You know what? What's that? What's that on bad emotion? Well, there you have it. It's Dave Chappelle. Donnell.
Starting point is 01:20:29 Come on. Say Donnell was here, too. Damn, Donnell. All right. Donnell Roll is. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 01:20:36 It's DJ NV. J.S. Hilarameen, the guy. We are the breakfast club. We're still kicking him with Kevin Hart. Drusie said you actually set him up in that stream With that little kid He said it was you that actually set him up
Starting point is 01:20:49 That's what he said You did though You did start a little He said you followed you leave Because you're the OG They follow your lead First of all What you need to understand
Starting point is 01:20:58 Is where the cameras are at all times What I said the Druski was in his ear I said something in his ear Okay Nobody really knows what I say He knows what I said And then he took the liberty of going And saying very harsh things by the way
Starting point is 01:21:11 You know, things it shouldn't be said. We've seen you moonwalk right out. Like, you see, I mean, I don't want to be around that. Okay. I've seen a lot of people get in fights. I've seen when it's about to happen. You're checking out the breakfast club. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 01:21:25 It's DJ Envy Jess O'Larry. Sholomey and the guy. We are the breakfast club. We got a special guest in the building who refuses to stop. Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin Hart. Welcome back, brother. He just won't sit down. See that?
Starting point is 01:21:38 How you feeling? Come on. How you feeling? I'm feeling. I'm feeling good, man. Life is great. No complaints, man. Here to talk about more shit, which means great shit is happening.
Starting point is 01:21:48 Still moving, still tracking, still working, still doing the same thing but bigger. Talk to us about this new two-part documentary you got. Number one on the call sheet. Congratulations, first of all. Shout out to Jamie Fox, man. This is a Jamie Fox idea that he came to me with at Heartbeat. And, you know, it was the concept about being number one on the call sheet and the good and bad of it, right? He's like, you know, a lot of people experience it, but it doesn't do the same for everyone, you know. And whether it's the ego, whether it's the money, whether it's the idea of the money, whether it's the thought of my career is now about to be. And it doesn't become like, there's so many different concepts attached to it. I thought it was a great idea, man. You know, Fox is a brilliant mind. And I said to make it real, like, we got to go out and, you know, of course, happen to all our relationships. So what started off is just the idea.
Starting point is 01:22:40 for men like we were heavy on the men side and then we were like yo it's dope if you have it to where you know there's a male version and then we go and we tap in to a female version as well and really just expand the conversation of success or lack thereof and it's
Starting point is 01:22:56 it's dope to hear all these people talk about it so I think people are going to be blown away by hearing the good and the band like everybody doesn't with the concept of it you know well being number one on the call sheet everybody doesn't fuck with it man when did you become number one on the call sheet and what does it mean to be that I've been number one
Starting point is 01:23:10 for a while. But when was the first time? Like, I love it. I love it. Like, I don't want to make it very clear. I love it. Now, you never left the road. Why is the road so important to you?
Starting point is 01:23:21 Because you control it. You own it. And you do small venues. You do big venues. Like, nothing better than stand-up comedy. There's no job better than the job of live entertainment, live audience, your fans, your connection, your relationship. It doesn't die.
Starting point is 01:23:37 If you treat it like a plant and you forever water it, the plan is never going to die, right? Like, so if it can grow and you have good seasons, bad seasons, it's always going to be there. And those fans are just going to ride with you forever. So I'm very adamant on staying true to stand-up comedy. Nothing takes the place to stand-up comedy. I don't give up. What I'm doing, the level that I'm doing at, I will go and do comedy clubs.
Starting point is 01:23:59 I will come in New York for months on a time and just do a run of pop-ups. That's my muse. That's my stress relievers. Did you hear Damon Wayne say that he would never do stand-up anymore because he was like, People are too sensitive. No, he said people are stupid. Well, yeah. He said people are stupid dumb.
Starting point is 01:24:12 Basically, you know, he says anything. People get offended too fast. And it's like, it's just not worth the distress. I understand. I don't see it the same way because I don't have that level of giving. I don't want to do the thing that I love to do because I'm caring so much about what everybody else is thinking about what I'm doing. Like, I don't.
Starting point is 01:24:28 I think he meant that on, you know, how DeWayans used to be. Like, they, no limit. Like, you talk about anything. But now, since the new trend is being offended and a lot of people are just, you know, It is what it is, though. Oh, he's different communities. I mean, Dame is Dame is a legend. Like, if Dame wanted to go on stage and fucking around,
Starting point is 01:24:47 Dame can do what he wants, when he wants. The idea of people being upset or triggered, if you're thinking about that, then you're going down a crazy spiral. I'm not doing comedy and thinking about the thought of what you think about what I'm saying. I have the things I want to talk about. I know the direction I want to go in.
Starting point is 01:25:03 I'm not here to offend. I'm not here to aggravate or piss people off. I'm here to do my craft. Have you apologized yet to Delaware State University? For what? When you went to HBCU, you don't let it go. Come on. Let it be known.
Starting point is 01:25:16 Where did you go, sis? She didn't. Here's your shot. Oh, I thought I was trying to. Delaware State University. There you go. Let it be known. It is.
Starting point is 01:25:24 What do you mean? I know where Delaware State is. That's a serious shot. That's just a bunch of niggias on campus. We are part of the University. Shout out Delaware State. Do not just a bunch of school. That's a heck.
Starting point is 01:25:37 Halloween. Sean Jackson said you were sorry. Huh? I mean, first of all, it is, all right? But it's like smart people there, too. What are we talking about? Elwood State knows I have no ill will towards them. I love you guys.
Starting point is 01:25:55 But it was a funny bit. There's a lot of things out there. You got your animated show out, little calves. Yes. Talks about your life growing up. Yes. What made you want to do that? Animation style.
Starting point is 01:26:06 You know, crazy. This has been a crazy development, man. This is, I'm going to say, like, seven to eight years in the making. Before we could actually, like, do it properly. Shots out to Scott Mills over there at BT, man, for understanding, like, my world of want and allowing me to do it the way I wanted to do it. You know, it's an adult animation.
Starting point is 01:26:24 And I wanted to, like, flip the story of the conversation attached to the hood, right? Like, everybody talks about the hood with one point of view. You know, the hood is the hood. And people like, the hood is fucked up. It's so bad. There's a bunch of shit in the neighborhood. Yeah, like, and I think that there's a, there's a positive side to it you know there's a role that everybody plays in the hood
Starting point is 01:26:41 especially when it comes the kids families like everybody's a part of the village everybody's raising everybody's child everybody is aware everybody's in the know everybody's trying their best to service and eat a good and even bad is happening you know when people find out there is an energy attached to trying to solve it to make it better and this is a way of just flipping the conversation on the hood upside down so it's about me my upbringing being in the hood but having such a high level of love for the hood for my family and for all the people around it.
Starting point is 01:27:09 And Jess O'Laris is in it. Keeping her away from Breakfast Club. Come on. Just don't listen to that. I don't. Yeah, that's ridiculous, first of all. Thank you. I want to make something very clear
Starting point is 01:27:18 when people say, like, Kev, thank you for giving people a job. People earn a job. Like, I'm not giving just anything. I'm not out like, hey, here, Jess, here's a gift. Like, that's Jess, that's her team, that's people working and saying,
Starting point is 01:27:29 hey, this is a good thing to possibly put Jess up for and just for the process. I mean, you could say no, but when people are talented and earning things on their own, it's happening the way it's supposed to be. I'm not in the space of no of everything
Starting point is 01:27:43 and I'm hand-picking people and doing like, that will mean that I'm fucking. I mean, the time and a day to do that and do it and do it, and that means that the people around me aren't doing what the fuck they're supposed to do. So it's your job to, like, properly package and put people in places to make these projects good. And it's my job to see it at the end stage
Starting point is 01:28:01 of going, wow, this is a great cast. These are great personnel, great roles. I like this. configuration but just as earning it a decade ago i was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught the answers were there hidden in plain sight so why did it take so long to catch him i'm josh zeman and this is monster hunting the long island serial killer the investigation into the most notorious killer in new York since the son of Sam available now listen for free on the iHeart radio app apple podcast wherever

I was literally, I was like, this doesn't track for me at all. When he found out Trey's shortcomings. I'm kind of excited at talking about, you know, I think he's a guy spends time in Central Park. You know, he's probably, you know, he'll be some surgery stuff, you know.
Starting point is 01:29:13 And I was like, all this kind of stuff going on. And they were like, yeah, yeah, yeah, fine. And they said, but he's impotent. And I was like, he's impotent. And why he chose not to return to him just like that. They came and presented an idea, and I was like, I get, I see it. It's so kind of a one joke. idea you don't want to miss this listen to are you a charlotte on the iheart radio app apple

Find health stuff on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thank you. And you know, you do take the time to pour
Starting point is 01:32:47 into the next generation. You know, Drusky was up in. Drusky said that you gave him and Kajanaat a bunch of movies to watch you told them whatever your stupid asses is doing right now watch these movies and prepare for the next level I like what the younger generation is doing
Starting point is 01:33:03 it's crazy I'm saying it like I'm really am a part of like a time of old how old are you now 45 damn well it doesn't look it I did that for Donchita you know
Starting point is 01:33:18 that older generation of like how we approach the business how we approach the business how we approach the craft, right? And I think it's dope as f*** to see this new generation navigate differently. Like,
Starting point is 01:33:30 the comedians of today did not go and work at it the same way that we did. Like, they're breaking new ground, finding ways to be the personality's first, and then get to the stage after. And the way that they're engaging with their audience and the way that the audience is responding to them, I think it's dope as f***. And being a fan of
Starting point is 01:33:48 it, I feel like it's my job now to figure out ways to, like, grab this personnel when and where I can and, you know, try to push him for it. With Kai and Druski, Kai is such a monster, man. I told him, I said, look, man, I want to show you guys ways to, like, give your audience more and ways to
Starting point is 01:34:03 do more. So I came up with, like, with some dope ass ideas, concepts for us to rock in together, but stay true to the space of what they're doing. So, Drusky, I know he came and he was, like, telling you guys about the movie. I don't want to tell you all what it is, but it's a big idea that we're working now. But I was like, to do it, you guys got to educate
Starting point is 01:34:19 yourself on things in this space. So it wasn't homework. I was like, understand production understand how movies are made understand the look and feel I want you to be a part of the process so you can understand the process and after you do this with me
Starting point is 01:34:32 go do it yourself go do it and figure out ways to you know do it with the other people that you're around all right we got more with Kevin Hart when we come back don't move it's the Breakfast Club good morning
Starting point is 01:34:42 The Breakfast Club Morning morning everybody is DJ NVJ JLari Sholomey and the Guy we are the Breakfast Club we're still kicking it with Kevin Hart Drusie said you actually set him up in that stream
Starting point is 01:34:56 With that little kid He said it was you that actually set him up That's what he said You did though You did start it off He said you started And they followed you leave Because you're the OG
Starting point is 01:35:06 They follow your leave That's right First of all What you need to understand Is where the cameras are at all times What I said the Druski was in his ear I said something in his ear Okay
Starting point is 01:35:16 Nobody really knows what I say He knows what I said And then he took the liberty Of going And saying very harsh things by the way You know, things it shouldn't be said. We've seen you walk right out. Like, you see, I mean, I don't want to be around that.
Starting point is 01:35:27 I've seen a lot of people get in fights. I've seen when it's about to happen. I go, I shouldn't be here. Right? I shouldn't be here. They're about to start shooting. By the way, he's got the gun. I see it.
Starting point is 01:35:38 I'm going to leave right now. Yeah. So I just exited the room because I think at the time I had to go to the bathroom, actually. And then a lot of stuff from what I was told. A lot of happened from what I was told. The kids start crying and stuff like that. And I came back and I was like, I came back and I was like, what's going on. At that time, I'm the adult in the room trying to calm shit down.
Starting point is 01:35:56 Like, hey, man, what's happening? And I think all the cameras caught me saying that, which is good for me legally. So I was never attached. Drewski said he felt like he could make those jokes because he's fat and y'all were teasing him all day about being fat. Oh, Juski, first of all, calling people fat is, that's aggressive. You saw the big thinking of you. Yeah, I just want to.
Starting point is 01:36:15 I don't know where it can is. I just want to. I just want to say, that's a thing. You understand it. It is. The effort. The effort. That's a half word.
Starting point is 01:36:25 No, is Drewski big? Is he a little bigger? Yeah. Right? Does he have problems breathing when he walks up steps? Yeah, of course. Of course.
Starting point is 01:36:33 But, you know, that little kid, I think, was on his way to a healthy lifestyle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to support that, right? The little kid, because he was talking, I think the little kid was talking about exercising and stuff. Yeah. Which is good. And I'm always glad to just be on the positive side of conversation. That's what I'm about.
Starting point is 01:36:47 That's right. You know, I'm a beacon of light. Joy. Kevin, and sure, at the level of success. sense that you are being an actor. Do you still have to audition for roles or? Absolutely not. Okay. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 01:36:59 Man. Because Martin Lawrence said that he has said that he does. No, I think Martin said he had to he pitch his, he still got a pitch project. Oh, pitch that. Yeah, that makes sense. If he's pitching things. I mean, am I really pitching things? I think I'm pitching ideas to my team. I'm more in the business of
Starting point is 01:37:15 creating the things that I think best service my want and my direction in the business. Like, When you think about the dramas, you think about all the things that I've done the series, like, that's been me. So, true story. I was like, I want to kill somebody on camera. I think it'll be dope.
Starting point is 01:37:29 And I went and found a guy that created Narcos. And I was like, you know, it'll be dope as if we can collab and talk. But we developed it. And then I was like, okay, this is great. Let's go and take this out. Like, that's developing it and then going to sell it. Fight night. That was me, Will, Will, telling me he had to write.
Starting point is 01:37:47 And I was saying, hey, to do it, this can be dope but let's do it this way and put the right people. in it. So like the creative side from start to finish is where I'm playing it now but like auditioning I'm not really auditioning. I think people if they have a project they're like oh Kevin will be good for this and I'm getting those calls. Hey we want you to do and then I got a decision
Starting point is 01:38:06 of if I want to do it or not. Like this is the upside. That's still one of my favorite movies you and Brian Cranston. They already saw you for that role and just called you. They said we want to do the remake and we see you and Brian Cranston doing this. Are you interested? And that was genius. Absolutely. And Nicole Kidman. I was like absolutely.
Starting point is 01:38:21 Hands down. But it's coming out and having an ask. Not to say that I wouldn't audition. You would? No, he wouldn't. I'm trying to clean it up. I'm trying to clean it up. I was trying to, because I know y'all got cameras here.
Starting point is 01:38:35 I just wanted to look in and make it just look like, I'm willing to do. Right? Right. What about, like, social media backlash? Because everybody, for whatever reason, was highly upset when you hosted a NBA All-Star Weekend. There was a section of the internet that was acting like they were. You know, you know, what energy do you give that? I'm a partner to the NBA.
Starting point is 01:38:54 Like, understand what that means. I'm not, I'm not coming on to be Kevin Hart and have funny moments to the NBA. The NBA has been a servicing aid to my career for over 15 years. Like,
Starting point is 01:39:05 you go back and you'll look at how much I've been on NBA, T&T, and All-Star Weekends, celebrity weekends, all these events like this, you're not looking, it's almost host-adjacent, right? Like, the personalities that we lean on
Starting point is 01:39:20 because we're familiar with fans, family, and we know how they work. That's what that is. So the All-Star, I'm not going to the All-Star game and trying to create a big moment for me. I'm there because the energy of the All-Star game comes with Chuck, Ernie, Kenny, myself, Shaq. Like, we've been doing this for years.
Starting point is 01:39:36 Like, just talking and playing with one another, bantering on camera. That's not an easy thing to do. They make it look fucking easy. They make it look great. That's not an easy thing to do. Especially between you and Shaq. Yeah, like, that's not a easy thing to do.
Starting point is 01:39:49 Like, that chemistry, that rapport, it comes from like, having a real understanding for how TV works. So you can't just throw new things in there because it gets weird. People don't understand the times. People don't understand the cuts. How much time you got to go?
Starting point is 01:40:01 Cut back to the game. They're trying to do so much new shit. They're trying to discover it. So why they're trying to figure it out, here's personalities that we can lean on so at least we don't have dead space or dull moments on camera. That's what that is.
Starting point is 01:40:11 So when you understand the technicality behind it, then you understand my involvement. I don't feed into the other. Like, I know why I'm there. Part of the shit. Do you ever tell Shaq to, like, really back up? off you. Because he'd be kind of sexually assaulting you
Starting point is 01:40:23 in a little bit. What? Shagg, well, come on. Just a little. What? There's only one time with Shagg's done some crazy shit. Okay. Where I was uncomfortable. And what was it? That was real husbands when he, that whole thing that's on the internet that they... Oh, yeah. But that wasn't scripted, right? I wasn't scripted. It was a moment
Starting point is 01:40:40 and honestly, I'm going to be real with you. I couldn't do nothing about it. They got a cut. You know, this is before I put a little size on. Not to say that I could do something to Shaq, but I didn't, you know, it was a very frail version of me. And, you know,
Starting point is 01:40:57 it was, this is when Shack was like, when they were, like, just talking about Shaq being a cop, and he really was a cop. We thought it would be funny as shit. Shack pulled me over on Real Hussein's of Hollywood. And, you know, like, Shaq is, like, basically about to arrest me. You know, everybody can't improv. Say what he did to you, I'm not going to, I don't need to
Starting point is 01:41:13 repeat it. That's great and they kept me in. What are you? I just want to, you don't even have to say this. We're not even going to discuss it. For people who haven't seen it. Brother is a great show. You should watch it. Well, it's a great show.
Starting point is 01:41:23 But it's not going to do. Yeah, but what we're not going to do is make a thing like something that it was. We did it. So what he did was he grabbed me when I got out the car. And he just tried to get a little physical, right? It was like. But it's like everybody doesn't improv the same. Comedy is crazy.
Starting point is 01:41:39 Comedy is an art. Like you ever see comedians when they try to like improv or some of them go too far or they don't know when to stop? He's like, hey, man, man, we got to end the scene. Like, hey, man, we can't go off there. I'm like, oh, yeah, well, you're like, well, my mom. You can't bring up moms because we don't know who our moms are in this scene. It's like, I just Googled it. Yeah, boy, it says, hashtag pause of the week.
Starting point is 01:41:57 Hey, yo, nah, Shaq, you scraped by lady Kevin Hart. You literally took that man to pound town. Did he? Well, this is, this is, what you're doing is ridiculous. That's actually, that's actually nuts. Nucks? No, that's nuts. That's what he grabbed me.
Starting point is 01:42:11 He throws me over the, over the car. And he, and he starts humping me. Humping you? So I'm like, I remember, you know who was directing? Hold on, he turned you around, bent you over. Wow. He did do what you have to look at Kevin's face and say you can tell. Let me tell you what I can tell what Charlemagne is.
Starting point is 01:42:26 Charlemagne is perfect. He is. He is. He is a nasty man. In this brief time, I just found out a lot about him. By the way, he starts describing stuff, you're a very graphic nasty man. I just told him. I'm just describing what Shaq did be you.
Starting point is 01:42:38 He grabbed me and he throws me over the car. He's like, you don't know what I can do. He starts humming me. I remember Ralph directed an episode. I remember I looked at Ralph. I'm like, hey, did you all, did you? Is it Pink Page? Did something happen?
Starting point is 01:42:53 Right. And they was like, they were like, all right, uh, nobody. If a Lenovo gaming computer is on your holiday list, don't shop around. Just go directly to the source, Lenovo.com. You'll find exclusive deals on the gaming PCs you want,
