Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing.
Check it.
And it began with me.
Did you know, did you know?
I wouldn't give up my seat.
Nine months before Rosa, it was called a woman.
Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.

That's right.
Diddy will be joining us this morning.
His album is out right now.
The love album, Off The Grid.
Yes.
We'll be kicking it with Diddy in a little bit.
That's a nice little album.
It's lit.
I thoroughly enjoy the love album.
I don't want to tell him that, though.
But I thoroughly enjoy it.
Why do you want to be a hater?
Why do you voluntarily try to be a hater?
Oh, my God.
What's wrong with you?
But I do.
I thoroughly enjoy it.
Yeah.
Gosh.
We're going to kick it with Diddy in a little bit.
Also, Desi Banks will be joining us.
Hey, that's my guy.
Okay.

He's on tour.
We're going to be kicking it off both of them this morning.
Hey, that's what's up.
We got a show in New York tonight.
And I have a show in Jacksonville, Florida tonight at the Comedy Zone.
Actually, I have two shows tonight and then shoot two shows tomorrow.
So I'll be leaving and flying out right after we wrap up the episode.
Salute to Jacksonville.

Well, actually, tomorrow is sold out.
The last show has a couple tickets left, so get your tickets for the last show tonight
because all other ones are sold out.
Wow, so get your last few tickets because it will be sold out in probably hours.
So wake your ass up.
Get your tickets.
Yes.
All right, now shout out to, again, the HBCU NY Classic.
They've been doing events all week, and last, they did a panel on A Different World.
They had Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison.
And they were just talking about the impact of A Different World.
And they're saying when that show was on, they said the amount of people that went to HBCUs doubled at the time.
That had that much influence.
And, you know, it's sad we don't have many shows like that now that that focus on hbcu
and college life and things like that so they were grownish but it's not i don't know if grownish is
hbcu but it focuses on college and focus on college yeah so they were saying that they were just
talking about the experience and where hillman was derived from i always thought hillman was
derived from up from hampton that's why it made me want to go to hampton but they said it actually
derived from all the different colleges in hb. They took something from each part of different colleges to make it, you know, like their own special HBCU.
And that's what it was derived from.
Just listening to the stories and some of the commentary was just great.
So salute to Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison.
It was great hearing them.
Two of my favorite people to have conversations with.
Very slept on Breakfast Club interview when Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy came up here together.
And you can check them out
on my homegirl Alicia Renee's project
Unleashed for Love on Audible.
They play Alicia's parents
on that project.
So salute to them.
And that was at the Apollo last night too.
I don't know if I feel safe.
I don't feel safe in here, man.
Why?
What's wrong?
I just don't.
I just don't feel safe.
What's the matter?
What's wrong?
Your mental health okay?
Yeah, you alright?
This morning, I'm feeling okay this morning.
You need a break? What's the matter? You need a hug? No. What's wrong? I don health okay? Yeah, you all right? This morning, I'm feeling okay this morning. You need a break?
What's the matter?
You need a hug?
No.
What's wrong?
I don't want to hug you.
Do you want a hug?
You're scaring me.
I don't want to hug you.
I'm scaring you.
I don't want to hug Sugar Light.
Sugar Light.
Why you don't feel safe?
What's going on?
His new name is Sugar Light.
I don't want to hug Sugar Light, man.

No, it's The Weeknd.
Yeah, The Weeknd and 21 Savage in French Montana.
Yeah, yeah.
This record's hard.
How'd you just say Jay Balvin?
21 slid on this.
I thought he said Jay Balvin.
Oh, no.
21 slid on this.
All right.
Check it out.
Diddy's going to be joining us in a little bit.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Come on.
That's hard.
That's Diddy.
The Love album is out today. We're going to be talking to Diddy in a little bit. Man, breakfast club good morning that's hard that's diddy the love album is out today we're gonna be talking to diddy in a little bit man we don't get 21 savage enough credit man drop out of the booth above the 21 savage 21 you're trying to find
nothing you want right you call me anything you want but don't call me bae he said around the
hood like what'd he say no mama been around the hood like the ice cream truck well we are the
breakfast club just hilarious is here let's get in some front page news
morning says happy friday happy friday dj envy queen just hilarious charlamagne the god
all right let's jump right in hunter biden indicted on federal gun charges huh
yeah looks like uh hunter biden is definitely a lot of folks have been waiting on this federal
prosecutors have indicted the son of president joe, Hunter Biden, on gun charges. Now, this historic
indictment against the son of a sitting president comes after a plea deal that may have ended
a years long probe into Hunter Biden fell apart. We covered it here on the front page
news. And just as House Republicans has launched the impeachment inquiry on his dad in an effort
to seek bank records and other documents from the president and the son.
I want you to take a listen to the charges and also check out Trump's reaction.
Hunter Biden is the first son of a president ever to face prosecution from the Justice Department.
The three charges include lying on an ATF form about drug use while buying a firearm in 2018,
lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, and illegally
possessing a gun while addicted to drugs.
Well, I think there's no question about it.
He had a plea deal that was the deal of the century, the art of the deal.
You could write a book on it, the art of the deal.
And all of a sudden that was broken up by a judge who was able to, a brilliant judge
actually, who was able to see through what was happening.
And it's a sad situation.
I mean, nobody should be happy about this.
Hey, man, nobody is above the law.
It doesn't matter if you're a former president or the president's son.
You're innocent until proven guilty. But, you know, I have no problem with law enforcement doing their job.
I certainly don't.
Tell it to the judge.
Do you believe that Trump is not happy about it?
He said nobody should be happy about this.
Well, I didn't hear the kind of him i gotta
hear the context of why he he said that you know but i do wonder does the gop feel like the doj is
uh you know still corrupt are they just corrupt when they don't want facing legal legal charges
and if he's convicted how much time will he get yeah well and speaking of that this is uh the
special counsel uh that is over this case is a Trump appointee, David Weiss.
He also headed the investigation.
Two of the counts carry a maximum prison sentence of up to 10 years, while the third has a maximum of five years.
So each count also carries a maximum fine of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
So, again, historic. You have a former sitting president that is going through indictments and the son of a president that also was indicted.
So what a time. I'm all for fairness and balance. Nobody is above the law.
Nobody is above the law. So, you know, it don't matter to me what side they are in.
If they feel like they need to bring charges against them for whatever reasons, do your job.
All right. Tell it to the judge. Well well that is front page news now get it off your chest 800-585-1051
if you need to vent phone lines are wide open again 800-585-1051 call us up right now it's a
friday and diddy's gonna be joining us in a little bit it's the breakfast club good morning the
breakfast club
this is your time to get it off your chest.
800-585-1051.
We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.
Hello, who's this?
Keep that in mind.
Hi, this is Obi-Oma.
Who?
Obi-Oma.
Obi-Oma.
Yes.
Hi, Jess.
Hey, girl.
How you doing, girl?
I'm good.
I'm so happy that you're on there.
Oh, me too.
What's up, Obiona?
What's up, Em?
You ready for tomorrow?
What's tomorrow?
Boy, you stupid.
You know what he's saying.
He really stupid.
You really dumb.
Are you big dumb?
I don't know what's going on.
You said Jack Dumb is big dumb.
Exactly.
He been talking about this all week.
But now I'm saying he don't remember.
He started the show talking about it, Jess.
No.
You said it in the intro of the show.
Well, I didn't know what she was talking about.
She didn't say sports, because tomorrow morning I had to do something for Paw Patrol.
I thought maybe she was bringing her kids there.
I'm not even there.
Or she's talking about the HBCU Classic, or she's talking about the After Party.
How would she know about your kids' Paw Patrol?
I'm doing a whole big Paw Patrol release tomorrow.
I heard you talk about that. I heard you talk
about the HBCU.
I didn't invite you.
That's why.
But I've heard you
talk about the
HBC NYU Classic.
Oh yeah,
I was just talking
about it.
Yes,
I am ready tomorrow.
Are you ready
for tomorrow?
I am,
so I want to
shout out Albert
and Andrew Baza.
After they heard
me call the show
the first time,
they really looked
out for my organization
and, you know,
worked with me
to get some tickets so I can get some people from the community to come out.
That is so dope.
Yeah, the Classic is tomorrow, 3 o'clock, Morehouse versus Albany State.
And like I said, we're inviting all the HBCUs, not just Albany State and Morehouse.
So it's been a week of great things.
Tonight is actually the Step Show, which I'm excited about in Jersey.
So it's bringing the HBCU experience to the tri-state area,
and I love it. So there's still some tickets
available, and then after, it's the
after party at the Dream Bar in the
American Dream Mall. So we're inviting all
the Virgos to come on now.
You're taking my call time. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry, I shut up.
She said you're taking my call time.
Sorry to me, I can't be
at your mental health event
because I'll be
out of the country.
But I don't know
if you have a thought
in giving some thought
to the idea
of having volunteers
like I mentioned before.
But...
Oh, we have volunteers.
You do?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Absolutely.
And Jess, I love you.
I think, I feel like one day
I want to have you
on a Watch Her Win panel.
That's my...
That's my
Women in Tolerance organization. Yes Watch Her Win panel. That's my woman empowerment organization.
Yes, ma'am.
That DJ Envy and Charlamagne never followed.
I did ask them to follow.
That's amazing.
Yeah, so you're going to have a BB on me.
I knew we should have hung up on you.
I'm giving out an art scholarship in the name of my dad.
Scholarship.watchherwinnewyork.org.
It's for artists. It's funded by me personally out of my own pocket. So I need people to apply. Only six people applied. So if anybody
is interested, they can follow Watcher Win, learn more about the scholarship so I can
help out some artists in a few days. Can people donate to the scholarship? People can donate.
You try to donate, but you never do.
Oh, I forgot.
Yeah, you got that complicated thing that make you pay monthly.
Subscription, you don't want to.
You have Stop Fibbing.
Tubi don't even do that.
Stop Fibbing.
Zeus don't even do that.
She said Stop Fibbing.
I emailed you little me so you can have no issues.
Send it to me again right now.
No, send it to me again right now.
I'm going to try.
I don't remember getting the link,
but send it to me right now.
Yeah, I'll let them subscribe
and I'll just give them money.
Yeah, email it to me.
I'm going to do something right now
like I tried to do before,
but you wanted me to pay a dollar a month.
I love y'all.
I love you too.
I'll see you tomorrow.
I love you too, girl.
I'll see you tomorrow.
All right.
Get it off your chest.

That's his name from now on.
Don't address him as nothing else.
Okay?
Shug Light.
You don't fat ass.
I'm not going to hold you. As OG fans, we miss you when you had the hair plugs and the Beijing midnight
cocoa bean beard.
Some descriptive.
I'm not going to lie. Things haven't been the same
since you let go of the Beijing King.
You might need to bring it back. You was a little
calmer when you had the fake
black face. I'm calm now.
Right. Now I'm at the crib.
He ain't got the hair plug,
but a big thing.
I'm out here crying like Tyrese.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Let me stop.
It's time for Tyrese

He's got chill.
There's a 19th post on you, Mello.

That was Mello, too.
Mello tried to holler at you.
Oh, okay.
You dead of him, too.
Oh, I'm getting all in there.
It's okay.
Get it off your chest.
800-585-1051.
When we come back, we got your room report.
What we talking about?
Sexy Red's video shoot.
Shot up.
Allegedly.
Allegedly.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right, we'll get into that next.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired?
Depressed?
A little bit revolutionary?
Consider this.
Start your own country.
I planted the flag.
I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water,
500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of
Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic
of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tribe own country. My forefathers did that
themselves. What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up
their territory. I was making a rocket
with a black powder, you know, with
explosive warhead. Oh my god.
What is that? Bullets. Bullets.
We need help!
We still have the off-road
portion to go.
Listen to Escape from Zakistan.
And we're losing daylight fast.
That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, guys. I'm Kate Max.

So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire,
join me every week for Post Run High.
It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all.
It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun.
Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions,
but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself and leaning into her
dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For
self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going.
This increment of small, determined moments.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself.
It's okay.
Like grace.
Have grace with yourself.
You're trying your best and you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.
Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before.
Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th.
I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it.
Make sure you check it out.
Hey, y'all.
Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history
podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to

Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama

nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing.
Check it. Did you know, did you know I wouldn't give up my seat Nine months before Rosa

Get the kids in your life excited about history
by tuning in to Historical Records.
Because in order to make history,
you have to make some noise.
Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hi, I'm Dani Shapiro,
host of the hit podcast, Family Secrets.
How would you feel if when you met your biological father
for the first time, he didn't even say hello?
And how would you feel if your doctor advised you
to keep your life-altering medical procedure
a secret from everyone?
And what if your past itself was
a secret and the time had suddenly come to share that past with your child? These are just a few
of the powerful and profound questions we'll be asking on our 11th season of Family Secrets.
Some of you have been with us since season one, and others are just tuning in. Whatever the case, and wherever you are, thank you for being part of our Family Secrets family,
where every week we explore the secrets that are kept from us, the secrets we keep from others, and the secrets we keep from ourselves.
Listen to season 11 of Family Secrets on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Morning, everybody. It's
DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club. Jess
Hilarious is here, and let's get to Jess with the mess.
News is real.
Where is this place?
Jess Hilarious, Jessica Robin Moore,
Jess don't do no lying.
This is the rumor report.
I don't do that. It's fact.
It's Jess with the mess, and this is real. On The Breakfast Club. I don't do that. It's fine. It's just for the message.
I know it's for the message.
On The Breakfast Club.
I know they know what this means.
It's for the stars.
Shots reportedly fired at Sexy Red's video shoot.
So there was a fatal shooting in Florida last night.
And they had a set of Sexy Red's video shoot for her song Shake Your Dreads.
Now, I'm glad that you always says allegedly.
Because it wasn't actually her video shoot that
was shot up it happened right across the street at a gas station somebody did lose their life um
but everybody at sexy red's video shoot was safe it wasn't her actual video shoot and um she did
hop online to send her condolences to the family of the man who lost his life and um and she said that they did finish the
photo shoot i mean the the shoot at a different location and everyone from our set went home
safely period yeah understanding these outlets attach celebrity to stories like that because
it increases engagement yeah that's literally all of this yes there's a celebrity within a two three
block radius they're gonna say oh it just happened at such and such video shoot all around such and such video shoot.
Or the concert, or all of that.
That's right.
I am happy that she's okay,
and I am definitely sending my condolences
out to the guy's family as well.
Speaking of condolences,
Tyrese had a lot more to say.
Stop, please.
He did respond, I guess.
Well, it's not even responding anymore at this point.
He's just going and going. Well, it's not even responding anymore at this point. He's just, you know, going and going.
Charlamagne, please.
He's just going and going.
And I just, it just won't end.
It's never ending.
It's a lot.
Well, I will say this.
I don't need you to say nothing.
Shush.
I thought it was over when he was up there.
Oh, my God.
We had the conversation.
Yeah.
He said he didn't remember because of the psych meds.
Now he remembers, so I just want to say God bless Tyrese.
Absolutely.
Thank you.
That's right.
Send him healing in.
Just God bless Tyrese.
He was here for an hour and 20 minutes.
We spoke.
We laughed.
We shook hands.
Whatever y'all didn't discuss with each other shouldn't be discussed on air.
By the way, are you talking?
Because we don't need you to say anything.
Y'all are troubling.
Yeah, no, I'm saying.
If you ain't had nothing to say 20 seconds ago, don't say nothing now.
Nah, I don't feel safe with Shuglight.
We just had the conversation up here.
And it's just pop.
And it was over.
And I guess he got back and read the comments and didn't like what they said.
And it gets to the point.
God bless Tyrese.
So we just have to uplift him and continue to keep praying for him.
Because you just pray for people like that.
That's all we do. Yeah, he seems like he's praying for him because you just pray for people like that. That's all we do.
Yeah, he seems like he's going through stuff.
So just God bless him.
Yes.
God bless him.
What do you say?
Healing energy.
Healing energy.
Don't call me sugar.
And other and other news.
Tiffany Chase is Shakira.
So Tiffany Chase is Shakira.
It's a video going viral with Tiffany Haddish trying to get Shakira's attention backstage at the VMAs.
But, you know, it was a lot going on.
Because, now, obviously, she is a big fan of Shakira.
And who isn't?
You know, but she was really, really trying to.
Look, other than you, you don't even count, brother.
You don't even know about Shakira.
Whatever.
She wanted a picture with Shakira very, very bad.
You know, and she was following this lady.
We actually have audio. You can hear it clearly. Shakira very very bad you know and she was following this lady we actually have
audio you can hear it clearly Shakira, Shakira. She ain't stopping for you. Shakira, Shakira.
Shakira, she's got to turn around, baby.
Ain't that the song?
Yeah, that's...
Shakira, Shakira.
What's our story?
Shakira, Shakira.
What's our story?
Hips Don't Lie is her.
No, that's Wyclef, I think.
Yeah, that's Wyclef and Shakira.
Leave it alone.
Yeah, but that's not...
Shakira, Shakira is from Hips Don't Lie.
What name was she calling?
Was she saying Shakira, Shakira? Yeah, she was saying Shakira Shakira is from Hips Don't Lie. What name was she calling? Was she saying Shakira Shakira?
She was saying Shakira. Now she was following her and you can tell even
shut up. You can tell even
when Shakira is walking
she does not want to
stop for her. I don't know if she
knew who it was but if
somebody is running, if you're walking
and somebody is, Shalami!
Shalami!
She seemed very annoyed and even in the pictures when shakira was on the vma red carpet or black
carpet is you know but she was posing with her awards and tiffany jumped in her picture even
when she was trying to take a picture by herself and and shakira was even nice enough to let her
take a picture with her you know her and carol. This is a picture where she actually snuck in it.
And you can actually, she puts her chin on Carol G's shoulder.
And you can tell, you know, she's a little bit of discomfort.
Like, just uncomfortable.
Like, who is, what is going on?
But Tiffany don't care.
And she's a big fan.
A big fan of Shakira.
She did get the picture and everything.
But my thing is.
What if Shakira took her phone by accident? And so Tiffany was just trying to get her phone no shut up man who is
with tiffany when these things happen i'd just be like yo i know she's a grown woman everybody's
gonna say she's a grown woman she do she want she like don't she she she's a grown woman okay fine
but everybody i feel like that there's no pr team there's no no assistant there's somebody like
tiffany come on come on come on over here yeah yeah and There's no assistant. There's somebody like, Tiffany, come on, come on, come on over here.
Yeah, yeah.
And that's my girl.
But it's like.
You would have pulled her to the side.
You damn right.
And whether she would have snatched away from me, because you know how crazy Tiffany is.
It's just still, come on, yo.
Chill out.
Tiff's going to do Tiff.
Yeah, she's going to beat.
And that's what we can always say.
She's always herself.
But yeah, I'd just be like, chill out.
I think Shakira took her phone by accident.
No, Shakira ain't taking her phone by accident. Shakira, get my phone. Shak yeah, I'd just be like, chill out. I think she carried her phone by accident. No,
she carried it.
She carried it.
She carried it.
She carried it.
Last story.
Last story.
Whoopi Goldberg
shocks Alyssa Farrah Griffin
by asking her
if she's pregnant
randomly in the middle
of a topic
they're discussing
on the show.
The toughest thing
for me has been
to watch
the disregard
for people.
Are you pregnant?
No.
Oh, my God.
You can't say that when my mother-in-law is here.
She's dying for me to get pregnant.
Why would you say that?
Why do I look pregnant?
There's got to be more context in there.
Like, did she stand up?
Was she rubbing her belly?
No, no, no, no, no.
She didn't.
No, it was nothing.
They were actually in the middle of talking about Mitt Romney.
And then Whoopi stopped and asked her, was she pregnant?
Now, the lady's mother-in-law was in the audience or whatever.
And she's already pressuring her and her son to have a baby.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
So and she was like, do I look pregnant?
And Whoopi Goldberg was like, no, it's just a glow that you have.
But Whoopi Goldberg reminded me of one of them black mothers
who know what's going on
and just asks you.
Because my mother
straight asked me
was I pregnant
before I even got to tell her
just like that.
But we weren't on a talk show
and my mom is not
my co-host.
Like,
I think that was
inappropriate for her
to say that
on the show.
As you said,
she's a black mother
and grandmother.
She's 67 years old.
She can't even really
talk to this person
until she get this out of her mind. I'm to you about me i understand are you pregnant but just on
national tv in the mid why are you already talking to me about mid hey man she's 67 years old she's
been around like oh so she get a pass for doing that yes and so when we when we get to that age
oh no no no no you think they think we kind of reckless now are you pregnant
oh god
I'll tell you one thing
that's the one thing
I'll never ask
a woman ever
I did it one time
and she wasn't
oh my god
and I felt like
yes and I will never
again in life
ask a woman
if she's pregnant
I don't care about
it's not for a man
to do anyway
but I was like
I was like congratulations
and she was like
oh what no you're pregnant
she's like no I just ate
like don't play with me
oh my god just ate could have just gained some weight yeah might be on and even worse bloated I was about congratulations and she was like oh what no you're pregnant like no I just ate like don't play with me oh my god just ate could have just gained some weight right there might be on
and even bloated I was very say yeah even worse some women have been trying to you can't right
can't yeah you say some stuff like that to them yeah not knowing what's going on yeah so you never
know never mind you never again but you didn't know you didn't know that was a long time ago but
I always tell that story so I just tell brothers out there don't even ask don't even if you nope don't but i think that was inappropriate for what we go over to do that
there and then and then like proceeded this one i said oh you're pregnant all right well anyway
anyway romney was like yo you don't just do that it was so awkward after that y'all gotta watch
the episode now gosh well that is just with the mess all right when we, we got front page news, and then Diddy will be joining us.
So don't move.

What up, Tess?
Good morning, DJ.
Happy Friday.
Jess, the queen of The Breakfast Club.
Hey, girl.
Anybody who's wondering.
And Charlamagne Tha God.
Peace, Tess.
Let's jump right into it. Let's talk about Seattle Police police what happened with seattle police yeah this is crazy seattle police
union rank and file leaders are under investigation after an officer was recorded on his body camera
appearing to make light let me not say they're not appearing he was making light of the death
of a woman who was killed by another officer earlier this year saying that she had limited value now listen closely guys the person that you are about to listen to is the vice
president of the seattle police officers guild and he was talking to the president of the guild
so take a listen to what leaders of the police uh the police guild what they sound like even when
they know somebody could be listening because they obviously had their body cam on let's take a listen i think she went up on the hood hit the windshield then when
he hit the brakes flew off the car cundula a 23 year old grad student was crossing the street when
she was struck by a patrol car reportedly going more than 60 in a 25 mile an hour zone responding
to a call it does not seem like there's a criminal investigation going on. Otterer, who serves as vice president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild,
was on the phone with Guild President Mike Salon, recorded on body cam.
Only Otterer's portion of the call is audible, but later he appears to joke
about settling with the victim's family. Yeah, just write a check.
$11,000. She was 26 anyway.
She had limited value.
What does that mean?
Why did he say she had limited value just because she was 26?
I don't get it.
Basically, I don't get it either because every life has value.
But basically what he's saying is, oh, you know, she wasn't worth much.
So just, you know, write her a check and just be done with it because her life was not valued.
And to make a point of that when um civil suits aren't
when they're suing to say you know how much uh is this person's life value i know it sounds cold
but there is a a thing with that like for me for example rihanna taylor got the highest
settlement ever you know for a black woman because they just don't value it in a monetary
uh in a monetary way so she got a $12 million settlement and so what he's basically saying is
oh yeah just write a check you know just give a little bit of something because she doesn't have much value
she's not worth anything according to this police officer but again I want to make a point this is
the leaders of the police guild so this is how the leadership is we always talk about how you know
stars at the head the head when the head is right think about all of the police officers that are
under these guys and how they feel about murdering somebody.
That's what I think is really important to know about this story.
So now what happens?
So now they're doing an investigation.
There is an oversight agency.
They're investigating the context in which this statement was made.
I don't know how much more context we're going to hear, but they're going to decide if any policies have been violated.
But the reality of it is, is probably no policies have been violated because they just made a verbal statement.
So I'm sure it's probably nothing on the books, you know, that can get these guys in some type of dismarined trouble.
But I think this is certainly worth calling for at least their positions as president and vice president.
Yeah, I saw I saw Sean King post yesterday that this this cop, he's been the subject of 18 investigations since 2014.
He's cost the city over $2 million in lawsuits.
Wow.
That's right.
And I'm glad you brought that up, Charlamagne, because let's take a look and see, you know, what else has this officer been associated with?
You're absolutely right.
And that's usually what we find when we start digging into their record.
That's crazy.
Now, Tess, what's going on on your podcast yeah i just wanted to uh end on a positive note of this week on the straight
shot no chaser podcast on the black and pay podcast network i interviewed george white um
he is a motivational speaker you know obviously i cover a lot of politics and news on my podcast
but every now and then i'm just you know i want to do something to kind of pour back into you guys
and you probably have heard him before let's take a quick
Listen God chose you
So you gonna have to fight more?
You gonna have to do more
You're gonna have to overcome more but you can receive more you gonna receive more you who your bloodline been waiting for
And God chose you because he know he can trust you. He know he can trust you
He know you will keep faith when things go bad.
He knows that you won't retaliate when people do evil against you.
He knows that you won't be conformed to this world.
But you'll be transformed by the renewal of your mind.
By the renewal of your mind.
Because you chose it.
Big Dawg.
Yeah, that's right.
Big Dawg.
So, yeah.
Check that out.
Shout out to Dwayne, my producer that stayed up through the night to make sure we had that ready this morning. I love you. this guy is somebody that I believe can motivate the motivators or keep folks laughing
a lot of people in the industry
matter of fact Steve Harvey
talked about him earlier this week
on his show
and I had already had him scheduled
to come on my show
so he's just touching a lot of lives
and I wanted to tell people to tap me
and hear what motivates the man
who motivates so many
well salute that brother
he makes me think of that quote
the anointing attracts the favor of God
but it also makes us a target of the enemy.
That's right.
That's right.
Preach, Charlemagne.
That's right.
Make sure you follow Tez on all social media platforms at TezlinFigueroa, man.
And go check out that podcast on the Black Effect iHeartRadio podcast network, the Scrape Shot No Chaser podcast with TezlinFigueroa.
All right.
Now, when we come back, Diddy will be joining us.
His album is out today.
The Love Album.
Off the grid, and we're going to kick it with love when we come back.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Especially today, the album's coming out.
Being able to just make music, man, for 30 years.
30 years in it.
30 years of bad boy.
I feel just very blessed and filled with the spirit.
So good morning to all.
God bless your morning.
Let me tell you something, man.
I f***ed with the album.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
It was very, very, very, very proper.
I was telling them that before they walked in.
What made you jump back into music?
With everything amazing from Revolt to the liquor to everything,
what says, I want to get back on the road, back to touring,
back to making music? What put, back to touring, back to making music.
What put you back into that,
my friend?
The thing that got me into it,
which was the love.
When I started making music,
I didn't make music,
okay,
like this is a hustle to make money.
I did what I felt,
you know,
and I did like just what I loved.
I say to people now,
it's not about streams to me.
I don't want streams. I want souls. I want to people now, it's not about streams to me. I don't want streams.
I want souls.
I want to give you that feeling that's missing.
There is a feeling missing.
We are in a dark frequency.
I'm blessed to be able to purposely try to push my life up into a higher frequency.
I could walk in a room and let us all be down.
I could push us up, you know what I'm saying, or whatever it is.
Or if you want to frown at me, I could give you a smile and a push us up you know I'm saying or whatever it is or if you
want to frown at me I could give you a smile and a hug you know I'm saying and so it's like you
know to to to be able to have the power that's your music all of my records like kind of make
you feel good people say like when I see your records it makes me want to do the dance with
my shoulders but it makes you smile too you know what i'm saying and that that right there was the purpose and so for me returning back to music was more a self-love decision you get it
to a point in your life where where um you have to decide like okay what what do i want to do that
makes me happy and what really makes me happy is my art making music so stepping away from music
for 17 years it didn't make you nervous a
little bit we got all these new artists and all that stuff yeah i'm not gonna lie i don't really
get nervous i live in a real fearless zone you know i'm saying um stepping back into it i'm real
confident on like me being a producer i don't make beats you know i'm saying like i i produce
you know i'm saying but the crazy part about it I don't play any instruments I don't program the sounds that I hear in my head I know how to really explain
what's the frequency that I want so me getting back into it I felt like joining
getting back into basketball as far as making R&B as far as like making hip-hop
soul and the all the different you know the sounds that I have so when I came
back into it I came back into it it really really excited right because I knew I was ready to step back into what
they call a full full circle so I went back into like puffy to produce it just
like the first time you may have had to turn tables or the first time you
learned your first dance or whatever you told your first joke you know saying it
returned me back to that like ah and so my first record i produced was come and talk to me by jodeci the remix and and so when i
started making these records it was feeling like that i had to return like back to the basement
the basement producing it was just me in there and just i'm an orchestrator so i hear all sounds i
hear all sounds from the vocal how the vocal should be presented it's like being a director of a movie you know what I'm saying I may not be in
there actually doing the scene but I'm directing the movie and I have a special talent as far as
like directing sonics and the way something is it's almost like even Quincy Jones Quincy Jones
is more of an orchestrator all of the live musicians and everything he did he didn't go
and play every instrument that was the drum machine at that point barry gordy was an orchestrator so i come from more of a producer
um experience like that so when i'm in there with a mary j blige i'm in there with a week and i have
something to say i'm not just watching them do a thing i'm not sending it over whatever i'm in the
studio actually creating and molding and shaping the sonic sound so and so my thing has always been
collaboration but my sound no matter what producers i work with my sound sounds like my sound when you
hear it it sounds exactly like my sound but i've just been a little bit more open about no one man
can do everything every last producer has had a team. You know, Motown had the Funk Brothers.
I've had the Hitmen.
And so a lot of times people don't, you know, don't believe that I could actually be good at this many things.
That's why I have the receipts.
I've been filming myself since I was 19 years old.
You see me in the studio producing with people.
And, you know, I don't have nothing to prove to anybody that says anything but the feeling that I've given
you for over 30 years giving your mama this feeling and I've given it to you
and it feels good take that
He's unpauseable
I was gonna ask how much influence does your son have on you?
And the reason I asked that, I seen him at the BET Awards, and I was asking him about,
is it a competition?
At first, he said no.
And then he said, no, no, no.
This is a competition.
I want to make records better than my dad, and my dad's trying to make records better
than me.
So I said, well, how does that work with picking beats?
And he was like, I have to grab the beats before my dad.
So is it a competition, and how much influence does your son have on you making records now?
I don't really let anybody influence me on making records.
I'm definitely not in a competition with my son.
But it's a blessing to actually be the first father-son duo.
You know what I'm saying?
And we take pride in that.
We all do.
Don't act like JoJo ain't used to rap.
The first to have a number one record.
There you go.
Took that to you.
That's how you clear it up.
The first, and it's no disrespect to nobody.
We just saying respectfully.
We saying respectfully to all the other father-son teams that me and my son, we won the championship.
We had number one records together.
And that's all.
It's just proud dad. it's not saying nothing it's not it's just when we have the narrative sometimes y'all be
forgetting about the ditty history you know i'm saying you sometimes we forget who invented
certain things now i'm not going to be defensive i'm just going to state facts okay okay p and
romeo too gotta throw them out there.
The first to have a number one
together.
It's
very hard to have a
kid and have that kid have
success. That kid has to fight through
so much stuff.
Those kids had to fight through
a lot of different things.
They got to fight through their father's legacy.
We're not talking about the first. We're talking about the father-son team Those kids had to fight through a lot of different things. They got to fight through their father's legacy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're not talking about the first.
We're talking about the father-son team to play together, you know what I'm saying,
and win a championship.
That's real.
And that's me and King Combs.
That's right.
I take a lot of pride in that. And then speaking of King Combs, would you ever give the blessing for him to do your biopic?
Ooh.
Because that's a biopic I would want to be in for one
but i would want to see that yeah i mean i mean he's you like he literally he he's me i know that
he'd be able to do it you know i'm saying i definitely give him give give him my blessing
because i mean he'd be biopicking me now i'm looking at him i'm on stage the other night and
you gotta understand how like much of a blessing this is y'all like like i like
like i know y'all as on-air personalities i'm just telling y'all like as human beings to be able to
i see how you love your kids you know i'm saying i know everybody loves their family but to be on
stage with them and be looking at them from what he wanted to be at four years old and really like
doing stuff and then other night with my girls like is like, it's a blessing to see him keep fighting every day.
Because as a Combs, we got to fight through a lot of hate.
It's just, it's all right.
We can handle it.
It's the wave.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Whom is given, you know, much is expected and we respect that.
But it's all right for y'all to start loving me.
Okay.
And you still got your headline.
It's about time's about time yes yes
my teeth everything is you know what i'm saying everything is fresh i could i'm i swear i'm
strong i'm like i don't know it's beyond benjamin button we like an ip man or something literally
all right we got more with diddy when we come back don't move it's the breakfast club good
morning morning everybody it's dj envy charlamagne Tha God, Jess Hilarious.
We are The Breakfast Club. We're still here with Diddy.
Charlamagne?
Why didn't you have any former bad boy artists perform on stage with you at the VMAs for such an iconic moment?
It was more like I did the medley so much with everybody.
We had so many different iconic moments.
That was me as an artist.
You know, a lot of people forget how many number one records
I have as an artist.
It was just really like I wanted to give people
something different.
I didn't give them Keisha Cole, really.
I wanted to give them the present, me and Young.
I had wanted me and Mase to do something,
but the schedule, that didn't work out.
And it was just like, that's that's all that was i just
wanted to have like something that was different so i thought me and mace would have been different
you know i'm saying so every time i come out i'm trying to give y'all something like different in
an award show performance because to be honest i i i do a lot of award shows the way god wanted
to work out me doing more money with my son was the greatest gift to that I could have
ever ever experienced you know I'm saying you know um I but I'm always going to be performing
with the bad boy artist you know I'm saying and and doing things with them as as I always have
you know saying and they've always they're always a phone call away and also also I just want also
wanted people also to understand like you know that you know i got a good 45 minutes straight of bangers just by myself on stage you know what i'm saying like like i go um yeah nobody should be
afraid because it's all love but you know i'm saying um it's it's a lot of hits you know i'm
saying so i did want to say that because i'm about to jump out here on tour and stuff like that and
you can come see me and have a great time if i'm just by myself too. You mentioned all the artists you mentioned Mase and recently
you said that you were giving the artists back their publishing. Yeah. What
made you decide to do that and did you speak to every artist when you did it or
how did that happen how did that work break that down? Yeah um when I
when I had went and called out the Grammys I also had to make sure that I
had also looked from within once you start like asking for change in this world, you have to look within and be a part of that change.
So this actually was done two years ago.
And it was it was more of me evolving as a businessman, you know, a person that that really wants change in the world and in progress.
Most importantly, because you can have change but not
progress and it was the right thing to do yeah you know i'm saying it was that it was the right
thing to do and it's the frequency that i'm in it's the love frequency if it wasn't for like
these people that have helped me with all of these records everybody if there's anything
you know just just doing the right thing that's just with the frequency that i'm in i think the
frequency we should all be in yeah if you have a chance to do the right thing why wouldn't you do
the right thing you know i'm saying and that's the world that i want to live in and so you know
i'm saying i want to be that change that i want that i want the giving back the publishing fix
any uh damaged relationships that you might have had i wasn't there's so many misconceptions that
people think they know what's going on i never i didn't have no problems with people i'm mace yeah yeah yeah
major with me and mace and me and mace we brothers and me i got unconditional love for me so me and
mace uh i don't know if me and mace to stop arguing now or something like that but i'm gonna
still love mace yeah i give him thanks for like really helping to really launch my career as an artist and you know was there with me from the
beginning and stuff like that even though if I didn't agree with Mase he
was a catalyst for me to look from within you know and so sometimes
somebody that you may not agree with or something you don't think is good God
uses like certain situations even if something's like yo where did that come from
that's from left field you know i'm saying and so i'll just get into right now what god telling me
to do so there's a clarity so it's really at a point you get to a point in your life especially
me as a successful businessman where you pick purpose over profit and that's kind of the season
that i'm in to really really be a part of this radical change you know i'm saying i like this
diddy did you really turn down a nine-figure deal for the publisher um yeah it was it was our men to really, really be a part of this radical change. You know what I'm saying? I like this, Diddy.
Did you really turn down a nine-figure deal for the publisher?
Yeah, it was, I wouldn't say turned it down, as I said.
You know what I'm saying?
It really wasn't an option, you know what I'm saying, as far as because it was just at the time that I was getting it, I was just, I wasn't really even wanting to sell nothing.
But I was just like, like man these people are getting people
getting a lot of money out here and i was like you know if any time this is a time that um that
you know because of people will offer him so much money for catalogs it was just it was a time where
i just went in was like you shopped a little bit or no no it wasn't shopped as people were calling
us so it was something that you know something that you
definitely consider
Chain of Events
just had me
really was just like
man I need to just
you know call all
the artists they need
and all the writers
you know what I'm saying
this is a time
you know what I'm saying
to not just
Andre Harrell was telling me
don't just talk love
be love
and so he was like
this is a time
just to do
and listen to what God
is telling you to do
and that's it so now we're cracking open a time just to do and listen to what God is telling you to do and that's it
So now we crack and open up
You know what today is today is Diddy Day
Reclaimed did he did he day?
101 episode
Love
And speaking of love, my favorite song
is What's Love. I do like that
And Deliver Me. It's number two and three, just in case
you forgot. Yeah, that Dirty Money, we back
and effect making
some, you know, beautiful train
music, as I call it. What made you go back
to that? What made you want to reconnect with Dirty Money?
This honestly was a record
that it's J Dilla.
I got a chance buster brought me
this j dilla joint and i was like y'all get a chance even though j dilla's not here to actually
do produce a record with j dilla so then i put the music on top of a j dilla beat and dirty money we
were doing it and at first we were doing it buster was like let me get that joint and i was like um
he never used it then when i was putting this project together, there's certain songs that I did a long time ago.
And then I asked girls if they wanted to be a part of it.
And they was like, yeah.
Just like that's a record called Deliver Me and Bustas on that and Dirty Monies on that.
And that's our first record in 13 years.
And then I would say one of me I did eight years ago.
Another one of me.
Yeah.
Another one of me. I did eight years ago. Another one of me. Another one of me I did
eight years ago.
The Weeknd
record with 21 in
French. You can say that's his
last collaboration, last feature or something?
Yeah, that's the Weeknd.
This is his last
feature.
I think we
love the Weeknd on his features the weekend
always does a dope feature so yeah i i'm definitely on it you know i'm saying i you know i really
love him as an artist everybody on this album it's like i'm i'm fans it is you know i'm saying
i'm like really fans it is and really love their voices like when i made the the album it wasn't
okay let me get this person because they have this type of these type of streams it was like when i made the the album it wasn't okay let me get this person because they
have this type of these type of streams it was like i i wanted to tell my love story you know
i wanted to be able to utilize these voices to translate my feelings you know saying i purposely
was on there where you could get your stroke on to it this is for the strokers you know i'm saying
a lot of cats they be they they like the rabbit style you know saying this this this is for the strokers you know saying cats that
like to really make love to your woman your woman like to make love to you
deep in our eyes and it's the stroke how long should a strong last stroke this
should be you should be counted by the seconds are you just nah nah it's more
of a rhythm thing I'm gonna say it's more of a feeling though you know saying
but it's just not like ah let me just not like, you can throw that in there
as a song tempo change.
It's not like,
you can do that,
but that's your only go-to.
That's not the frequency of love
that we talking about.
This is that R&B.
This is that soul.
Take your time.
Beg your girl to come back.
You know how you lay it down.
I got three records that have stay in it.
You know what I'm saying?
Because that's my life.
I'm always like, oh, man, baby, can you just stay?
Don't leave me.
You know what I'm saying?
Stay, yes.
And so it's just like the way you make love when you're trying to get your girl to stay
is different.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's like, you know, it's an off the grid experience.
Go off the grid with your girl.
Bring the album.
Your girl, your man, whatever you're into.
Nobody's judging.
Right.
Just go off the grid.
What I mean?
Like, like, how you doing?
How you feeling?
Get into their brain, their soul, their mind.
And this is the music that you can have in the background.
You know what I'm saying?
All right.
We got more with Diddy when we come back.
Don't move.
It's the Breakfast Club.
Good boy.
Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired?
Depressed?
A little bit revolutionary?
Consider this.
Start your own country.
I planted the flag.
I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete.
Everybody's doing it.
I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
I am the Queen of Ladonia.
I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg.
I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Be part of a great colonial tradition.
The Waikana tribe own country.
My forefathers did that themselves.
What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up their territory.
I was making a rocket with a black powder,
you know, with explosive warhead.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
Bullets.
We need help!
We need help!
We still have the off-road portion to go.

As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know
what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt,
learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves.
For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step.
And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going.
This increment of small, determined moments.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the
power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying
your best and you're gonna figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard
her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records.
It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right.
A podcast for all ages.
One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going
to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you
check it out. Hey y'all, Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and
families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop.
Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history, like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing.
Check it.
Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Because in order to make history,
you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app,

Hi, I'm Dani Shapiro, host of the hit podcast, Family Secrets. How would you feel if when you
met your biological father for the first time, he didn't even say hello? And How would you feel if when you met your biological father for the first time,
he didn't even say hello?
And how would you feel if your doctor advised you
to keep your life-altering medical procedure a secret from everyone?
And what if your past itself was a secret
and the time had suddenly come to share that past with your child?
These are just a few of the powerful and profound questions
we'll be asking on our 11th season of Family Secrets.
Some of you have been with us since season one
and others are just tuning in.
Whatever the case and wherever you are,
thank you for being part of our Family Secrets family

Everybody, we are The Breakfast Club.
DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, Jess Hilarious.
We're still kicking it with Diddy.
That one time you were thinking about buying, purchasing BET.
Mm-hmm.
Got revoked, so why was BET?
Yeah, you know, I really, I wanted to look at it.
I mean, there's no way to go unless you really kind of, you know, go into acquisitions.
You know what I'm saying?
So right now, I'm really looking heavy on acquisitions and really building the the world's biggest black media company you
know i'm saying um i'm on my second mountain i i really feel like i'm just beginning in my career
i feel like my my purpose is is is sharpened you know and and i've gone from me to we so it's like
you know the things that i'm looking at are really really big moves you know i i want to really take
over disney you feel me i want us because You know, I want to really take over Disney.
You feel me?
I want us because I know there's going to be a shift.
I know there's going to be a change.
I know the aliens coming.
I know that, you know, the last shall be first.
The first shall be last.
I'm not going to be sitting here surprised.
I'm going to be ready.
You know what I'm saying?
As far as how big and how bold my thinking is.
And so, you know, looking at where i had revolt um and and where
revolt is at now is like one of the most profitable networks that are that are out there we was able
to pass you know um as far as our digital footprint you know past complex that was a big thing for us
when we started we didn't really own our own culture and so now revolt has really stepped into
that you know to that position
so i was looking at bet and after when you're looking at buying a company you got to do your
due diligence to see if it if it if it fits your strategy and so even before they decided not to
sell it it didn't make sense to me so i basically had told them before that but i didn't make an
announcement about it because it really wasn't about that. So, speaking of Revolt being a place where you can go and...
This is our 10th anniversary of Revolt, y'all.
10th anniversary of Revolt.
We are proud to say and we want to thank y'all officially,
The Breakfast Club.
Y'all helped to put us on the map.
You know what I'm saying?
Y'all helped to get us in the game.
We did some great things together, and we're still family.
You were the first to believe in us.
Yes.
Yes.
That was Andre's whole vision.
How many years?
No, that's my vision.
I saw y'all and I was like, I know that they stars.
They got something that's going to break the internet.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I saw y'all.
That was me.
I was like five.
And then he was like, I want that camera.
I want that view.
I want it to be gritty.
See, see, see that.
That's the thing with Diddy is that y'all be trying to burn his receipts.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Hold on.
Oh, everybody chill.
So Diddy actually wrote The Breakfast Club, they first check.
Oh.
Yeah, yeah. The first one to believe in him and take him. Oh, yeah. wrote the breakfast club they first check. Yeah.
The first one to believe in them and take them multi. Oh yeah.
Take them to TV.
We talking about ancillary
income.
You do good on your ancillary
income. Let me get my receipts.
Take that.
That's right.
Hey man, the check wasn't all that big.
The opportunity was bigger than the check.
It was something.
It was a stepping stone in your glorious career.
Don't skip over it because I'm a black man.
I'm a stand up for mine.
Nobody else was running that division.
I wasn't here when you were in the check, so are you going to write another one?
Let's get back to the music.
Yeah, let's get back to the music.
How difficult was it to make the Kim Porter record?
It was extremely easy to make the Kim Porter record.
My desire for wanting to be in her presence somehow is a constant thing that I yearn for.
And so when I made that record, I really believe in the power of music
and so I felt like if I made that record for her that I with the intentions of her coming to visit
me in my dreams like I have the best of both worlds I know I can't have her in the physical
but to be able to just be able to like like that's my dog like that's my friend I wasn't just like my
baby mama or my girlfriend it was just like the only person that I that's my friend. I wasn't just like my baby mama my girlfriend
It was just like the only person that I listened to you know saying it was like my navigation
And then like my navigation is off, and I I gotta like try to find a map is that's how crazy
Like you know you know it was and so I was just like I really know how powerful my music is
And so you know I told babyface the story and then i told john legend
like this is why i don't want to make the record for streams the record is like you know it's it's
it's a real expression of love a real love letter to kim and you know i'm saying it's really how my
love feels and so it was beautiful to be able to do that and she has come and visited me in my
dreams so it just worked yeah after i made
that record on the record you you in the middle you say you know you know kim i know you can hear
me yeah yeah what what was that in the dream if you don't mind us that no we're just talking
in the joint in the dream yeah in the dream it's a couple of times just just yeah yeah just just
just what we do it wasn't nothing but i was saying i know you can hear me because i'm sending the
message to i'm sending that i'm sending that frequency to her because i believe like there's a whole nother dimension and
i don't think you like look back you know what i'm saying but i just needed her to just just to stay
stay and come visit me and you aren't featured on that record as babyface and john legend was it too
hard to come up with a verse or like you didn't like anything people were giving you or you just
didn't feel like no words could really express
what you wanted to express.
I just was just doing what felt right for the stroke.
You know what I'm saying?
You know, like, you know.
Yo, come on, man.
Why would you do that right now?
Yeah, because I don't know where your mind is at, King.
When I'm thinking about stroke, I'm thinking about my woman.
I don't know.
I can't get into none of this homophobic stuff y'all got going on, B.
I don't know.
I'm just like, yo, I don't know.
Y'all can play that game.
I'm just me.
I'm just saying, when I'm thinking about that, I'm telling you how I'm making the music.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm a Scorpio, King.
I'm a Scorpio.
That's my thing.
My thing is my stroke, baby.
And that's my music.
That's the vibe my music gives.
But you to stroke your woman.
Don't think about my stroke.
Think about your stroke on your woman.
You thinking about your woman.
You thinking about Envy.
And then it's like a lot going on.
Relax.
This is awkward.
Why are y'all awkward?
I don't know.
I'm confused.
I'm confused.
Be comfortable within your skin baby too comfortable
that's the problem i'm very comfortable now hold on one thing also in the record in the hook you
keep saying uh seven days six nights yeah what's the significance of that a very good question um
so you know before the internet if your girl and if your girl like wanted to disappear on you, she was mad.
She just go black.
You be calling her mom's crib like, hey, hey, Miss Porter, you know where Kim is at?
Honey, I don't know.
I don't know what y'all doing.
Don't put me in the middle.
You be calling every place you be outside.
That's when stalking started.
You know what I'm saying?
You be outside in the
car like where she has she definitely not there she had a girlfriend's house you don't even know
this girlfriend they and they on the run they on the land you all go all over the place it'd be
six days seven nights i would be waiting just to hear the sound of her voice just to
pick up that phone hello oh yeah hello
that's where the six days and seven nights waiting for a sound I she
was a very very like stubborn staying strong person it's like like when she
would just disappear it was like you don't know if it would be forever
you feel me extension of last night kind of it yeah last night is so there's a
bunch of records I need a girl part part two Wow Do you regret not marrying her? No, I don't have any regrets
You know saying like as I said our relationship was bigger than just okay. This is a relationship
I got you marry you my girl you my baby mama this that you know saying this it's like the like the connection of being
You know I'm saying and it really taught me, you know how to love and that's the way I love right now
so that's why I don't put different things in, like, categories like that.
Because I feel like, you know, the people that's going to really matter in your life.
I don't know if it's going to be your wife.
Because that's the title you put on it.
You know what I'm saying?
I don't know if that's going to be your best experience.
You know what I'm saying?
All right, well, Diddy's album is out today.
Let's get into another joint.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Let's go.
Good morning. We're still kicking it with Diddy. Let's get into another joint. It's The Breakfast Club. Let's go. Good morning.
We're still kicking it with Diddy.
That was a joint off his album that's out right now.
It's DJ Envy, Charlamagne, Jess, Hilarious.
Still kicking it with Diddy.
My brother, love.
Just love.
It's just love, everybody.
It's just love.
It's not brother love.
It's not a 1970s new name.
It's a modern new name.
It's just love, love, love, love, love. When you see me, throw your L It's just love, love, love, love, love.
When you see me, throw your L in the air and say
love, love, love, love.
Now, after the VMAs, there was rumors that
Young Miami was pregnant. She played into it.
Karisha be throwing y'all for a spin.
I've been telling y'all right now,
Karisha be having fun. It'd be like a video game.
You said you were stroking.
We just asking.
I don't think so.
I know she ain't pregnant. No, no, no, no.
I know she ain't pregnant.
Is your wife pregnant?
I got six.
I'm going to tell you straight up.
You be the craziest one asking about somebody's girl or her personal joint,
but can't nobody even say nothing to you about nothing.
I ain't. I don't know.
Hey, yo, playboy.
I'm going to tell you, man, as men, I don't talk about my relationships with nobody like that.
I don't mind anybody asking me a question.
You can ask me whatever you want.
I don't care.
That's not my business.
I'm not thinking about you and another woman.
If somebody disrespects, it's another level. Oh, I can't even imagine somebody disrespecting me. Exactly. But that's my business. I'm not thinking about you and another woman. If somebody disrespects, it's another level.
Oh, I can't even imagine somebody disrespecting me.
Exactly.
But that's my feeling.
That's how I feel.
It's easy for people to go online.
I'm just kidding.
I'm not.
I'm not.
You see the beige rage coming.
You saw the beige rage coming.
The beige rage was coming.
The beige rage was coming. The beige rage was coming.
The beige rage.
The beige rage.
The beige is going really, I don't know.
You got to go into the love frequencies.
I agree.
I agree.
I agree with you.
You got to go into the love frequencies.
I told him that yesterday.
He's been having a year.
You got to get him out of whatever frequency.
We got to stage him or something.
Pray over you.
Something.
You've definitely been on your pup daddy.
When they go to that left, when they go to that right,
I go to that with them.
And then when I go too low, they be like, I take it too far.
It's all cool when they do it, but what I do, it's a problem.
Yeah.
A couple more questions.
What's success like in regards to this album?
What would be a success for you?
I always measure success
with music if somebody's at home singing the song while you're just cleaning up the house or
you know a car that's next to me and um somebody's just in there singing it yeah just for people to
really really like love the music as far as um and then some babies to be made and some
some dances to be had and you know it's it's a spawn just you know more of this type of you know
more like love like man woman right man man woman man whatever it is right whatever your love is
that feeling bringing that feeling back and not just a
toxic feeling because life needs a balance yeah and it's definitely an album that people can enjoy
each other too like you said i think it's just the impact that it'll have on you know man and
woman like together it makes you want to talk to your partner it makes you want to be like yo you
heard this yeah like and it's cool for women on women and whatever you want to be like, yo, you heard this? And it's cool for woman on woman.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's why I said your man or your woman.
Your man or your woman.
Sorry, man and or, you know, them two.
Whoever, you know, just to really enjoy it.
I'm just saying, yo, whoever I want to, you know,
it's for that.
You know, I love the music.
I love what you're doing with business.
But the one thing I respect about you the most
is how you are with your kids.
And when I look at Love or Diddy or Puff, you make the time the most.
Because I love seeing that.
Because I feel like a lot of times when we talk about what we don't see a lot of times, we don't see that enough.
Yes.
And I respect that the most when it comes to you.
Thank you very much.
And it's inspiring for most dad because it's like, if Diddy can do it, Diddy work for Billy.
Yeah. Yeah. That's like me being on the stage with them the other night it's just like so surreal as i said
you know saying with my son but with my daughters and then my daughter she's an inspiring actress
and just seeing seeing like um man like like i did i you know i did something really good. Like, I really raised them.
Because fathers, you know, we still got this stigma on us.
You know what I'm saying?
And I get the same inspiration when I see your family, King.
And be going to have his family matching.
They going to be sitting there having, like, we designing the pajamas.
It's Christmas.
We doing the best Christmas card card we don't care what the
kardashians doing we got the best christmas card i can i can see all that it has me like yo we got
to get you know envy really putting it down on this trip in mexico they got all the same you
know i'm saying so it's it all it all goes around you know i'm saying this is as far as like you
know the things that are important to us and it's like i think that the thing black fathers have been able to get over the last couple of years is this this this unity and camaraderie
as far as like yeah now we we we we playing a part in this too mama you know we got this too
but it's just like you know um we we we learned it though from the black from the from the black
woman or the woman period you know i'm saying you know i learned, from the black woman or the woman, period. You know what I'm saying?
You know, I learned it from the black woman.
But, you know, the woman has taught us how to be better fathers.
Yeah.
Are we going to see the J.D. Diddy verses?
Yeah, I think that you'll see that when it's set up.
I think that it's good.
Like, J.D., it'll be fun because we both make records that are in the frequency.
You know what I'm saying?
And then, you know, I would like to, after after that i would like to see me and dr dre dance
or whoever whoever else wants to dance wants to dance i think it's nothing but positive getting
your music and displaying your music out there with people it's it's it's all it just makes
everything sharp you know with jd or would it just hip hop with J.D. or would it just be just everyone not if you say you want
Dre next
if you want Dre next to me
it's J.D. and Diddy
R&B and remixes
hip hop with Dre
I'm not gonna lie
you have so many styles
I can hit you with stuff
that I hit you from
Burn It Boys
last album that I had
did I can hit you with
early Mary J. Blige stuff
I can hit you with artists
that you never even knew
that I
I mean I have so many
different styles
but um
you know that's that's really where we at ladies and gentlemen sean yeah love the album is out right
now right now and the album is really good like really really good it's very very proper you can't
call him that call him what what you call him what did you say what is his name you can't call
it only one person can call him sean combs and you are not that person. Too bad you don't
keep up with Diddy. His name is Diddy.
Ladies and gentlemen, Diddy. We got Diddy.
Diddy, ladies and gentlemen.
Congratulations. The love album.
Thank you. Go get the love album, y'all.
Get it. Yeah. Love. Alright. It's the Breakfast Club

Donkey of the Day
For Friday February 15th
It's a double donkey
It goes to a young woman from the great state of Texas.
Salute to Amber Shelby.
Drop on the clues bombs for Amber Shelby, right?
Right?
Okay.
And it goes to the Fairfield Inn in Staten Island.
Let me tell you something.
This is why having people on the ground wherever you go is vital.
I don't care if you're in the country or you're out the country.
Those reviews and pictures you see online don't always be the truth
okay for example i tell people all the time when they come to new york and they ask me what they
should do i always say go to the pink house in brownsville they hear the word pink that's not
nice they hear the word pink and say that sounds delightful okay somebody always tells them you
know don't listen to me like envy just did when i I say that. But I still say it anyway, okay?
I've been in Miami and had foreigners ask me where to eat.
Now, before I say finger licking, salute to my good brother E-Class, I say go to Liberty Square, try the pork and beans.
All right?
People usually tell me they don't eat pork.
Neither do I.
So I then tell them go to finger licking.
My point is I don't know what I'm talking about for real, okay?
I just be playing in Fairfield Inn in Staten Island.
Y'all playing, okay?
See, Amber, her husband, and her two young kids
booked a hotel room that had a gorgeous view
of the city's iconic skyline.
Well, at least it did on the website, right?
This is the epitome of if what you paid for
versus what you got was a three-star hotel room.
$140, Amber paid.
And I can see how this happened to you, Amber,
because I looked at the pictures on the website
and we're going to put them up
when this goes up on YouTube.
I can see how you got gotten, all right?
But not really.
The skyline, they thought they had,
the New York City skyline,
it was actually a picture of the New York skyline
printed on the window shades.
So when they took the pictures of the hotel room,
they closed the shades
so it looks like
the New York City skyline.
When she actually opened the shades,
their view was a hotel parking lot
with a glimpse of a park
across the road
with a couple of kids
in Wu-Tang Clan t-shirts.
Let me tell you something.
I don't even know
if you can see the skyline
of New York City
from Staten Island
in any hotel in Staten Island.
Can you see the skyline of New York City from Staten Island? I hotel in Staten Island. Can you see the skyline of New York City from Staten Island?
I don't think so.
If it's a high enough hotel, I think so.
Yeah, absolutely you can.
Yeah, you can.
Well, somebody from Staten Island let me know.
I know you can get on the ferry.
You can.
No, no, no, you can.
You definitely can.
You can?
Yeah.
Okay.
I know you can get on the ferry, and the ferry takes you from lower Manhattan to Staten Island,
and that provides you some good views of the downtown skyline.
But even with me not knowing that, it wouldn't stop me from going online
and saying, sure you can.
They have fantastic views
of the New York City skyline
from Staten Island.
Why would I do that?
Because I enjoy lying for fun.
Okay, and so does everyone else.
That's why the Fairfield Inn
got the New York City skyline
on shades in their hotel
because they not technically lying.
They never said,
hey, we got fantastic views
of the New York City skyline. You we got fantastic views of the new york city skyline
you just assume that because of the pictures now amber said she had no complaints about the hotel
her only complaint was that it was too far from new york city amber my country cousin
i could have told you that check the reviews and but check the ratings go on twitter and use it
like google the way meek Mill does sometimes.
Just ask the question, hey, all my New Yorkers, is Staten Island far from New York City?
Hey, can you get a nice hotel in New York City for $100?
You would have gotten a bunch of heroin addicts responding to you saying, hell yeah.
And that would have been your answer, man.
Listen, I know we don't frequent Yelp like we should, but Yelp is the Internet equivalent of let me speak to your manager.
OK, every Karen in America got platinum reviews on Yelp.
They're going to tell you where you should be and shouldn't be.
And my sister and you know damn well when something sounds too good to be true.
It is. All right. This is something we learned back in the days of slavery.
OK, well, we should have learned back in the days of slavery, but we didn't.
When you know better, you do better. We know better now.
We didn't know better back then. And you do better. We know better now.
We didn't know better back then. And that's how we ended up on those slave ships.
They promised us a cruise around the world.
OK, new whips, cars, new chains, jewelry.
And they told us it wasn't going to cost us nothing but a little bit of work.
How did that turn out? Now, let me be the first to tell you. The old adage, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is isn't always correct. In fact, the suspicion, cynicism and doubt that are inherent in this belief can and does keep people from taking advantage of excellent opportunities.
But this wasn't one of those times. Amber, you should be ashamed.
OK, Fairfield, take some pictures with the shades up and please give Amber Shelby and the Fairfield Inn in Staten Island, the sweet towns of the Hamilton's. Oh, now you are the donkey of the day.
You are the donkey of the day.
Yee-haw.
And don't hit me up either asking me
if I said what I said about slavery
was true
because I just told you
I like to lie for fun.
But I actually like
what you said.
Which part?
The whips and the chains
and how it was like
the whips, the cars,
the chains, the jewelry.
Yo, you smart
when you want, bae.
But there was no cars
back then, Jess.
Yo, relax.
I'm making a correlation.
I'm trying to give you a compliment.
You know, it was dumb.
Everything you said was dumb.
And even the donkey, because I don't even think the lady deserved the damn donkey for
seeing what was presented to her online.
You know, that's what it was.
She probably did a little more research.
Yeah.
How old is she?
Look at the pictures.
She got two young kids.
She's not young, young.
Yeah.
Because you said my sweet country sister.
I thought.
Ain't that what you said
country brethren yes oh okay country all right she probably don't know you know she probably
know i can see how she got guys that's all she deserved donkey for that a little bit because
you can't go all the way from texas to new york without doing more due diligence and more research
than just looking at pictures online. A $100 hotel?
How many stars?
Would you stay in a hotel?
Three.
Three is on the cusp.
Like three.
Yeah, yeah.
Sometimes you go, three is like, ah.
Do read the reviews.
Three in Staten Island.
Oh, my God.
But I know Staten Island.
Three in Staten Island.
But for somebody out of town, you might not know. I don't even know Staten Island. Three stars Staten Island. But for somebody out of town, you might not know.
I don't even know
Staten Island.
I don't.
I don't even know
anything bad about that.
And I'm sure
Staten Island has,
well,
three stars
of Staten Island.
Three stars
Fairfield.
A Fairfield?
You said a,
oh,
yes,
a Fairfield.
But if a promoter
booked you
and they told you
you were staying
at the Fairfield,
Jess,
stop it. Yeah, a Fairfield, Jess, stop it.
Yeah, Fairfield in Houston.
Fairfield in Baltimore.
But let me ask you a question, right?
When we were on the come up.
Yes, I've had some good times at Fairfield.
We stayed at Fairfield.
On the come up.
We stayed at Red Roof Inn.
I agree with you.
We stayed at Red Roof Inn.
Yeah, I seen it driving past.
I haven't stayed in there.
I do stuff like that by myself, though.
Not with my husband and 2 Chainz. When you were young by myself, though. Not with my husband and two charen.
When you were young, 21, 22.
Not with my husband and two charen.
Not with my husband.
Damn.
All right.
I'm sick of these two.
I don't know what you're doing with your husband.
You're chilling.
Hey, you two charen.
B-E-T, we'll see you on Monday.
B-E-T.
Bye.
Jesus.
All right.
Now, when we come back, Desi Banks will be joining us.
A comedian.
He's on tour.
And we're going to kick it with him when we come back.
So don't move.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, Jess Hilarious.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We got a special guest in the building.
He came in here deep like a rapper, too.
He sure did.
Like two rappers.
That's the base, ladies and gentlemen.
Got to be like that.
Got to be like that.
You travel with that many people, brother?
Yeah, for my shows.
That's good.
I'm a camera guy.
I'm a security.
Creative director.
Manager, you know.
Okay, I like this voice.
Well, you know,
I was...
You got 10 people with you.
Yeah, you know,
everybody's doing
their own thing.
10 flights, hotel rules.
10 hotel rules.
Yeah. 10 meals. American Express do it, hotels? Ten hotel rooms? Yeah.
American Express do it.
I know that's right.
Tell him to stop playing with you. God is amazing.
He's doing his thing. God is great.
Yeah, for sure. Desi, how did you get into doing these skits and stuff, man? Break it down.
How'd you get into doing this? Man, I've been doing this since
2012. I started on Vine. I'm one of the
original guys in the beginning.
You don't have a lot of guys on here.
I was a part of that world in the beginning,'m one of the original guys in the beginning. You know, you done had a lot of guys on here. That's right. That I didn't, you know,
I was a part of that world in the beginning but one of the ones that I can say
still doing it and, you know, taking it to
new levels. You know what I'm saying? As far as
acting, as far as doing stand-up
and things like that. But yeah, 2012 was
when it actually started for me.
What gave you the idea to start that? Was it just, hey,
I'm born to chill it on? I had a friend, man. You know,
being funny was a part of me.
But I first played sports back in the day.
So I didn't know that I was going to be doing something like this.
Why, a receiver, a cornerback?
Yeah, a receiver.
Why, a receiver.
Yeah, I played college football as well.
But, you know, growing up as a kid, man, you know, my friends always tell me, man, you funny.
You know, I was a funny guy on the team.
You know what I'm saying?
And I was inspired by the people like Eddie Murphy, my alums, watching those people growing up as a kid.
You know, one of the most humorous in high school, stuff like that, man. Who? Most up as a kid, you know, winning most humors in high school,
stuff like that, man.
Who?
Most humorous.
Yeah.
He was funny, that means he was funny in high school.
Oh, he won most humor.
Come on, man, you be the smart guy, man.
You were talking so fast.
Okay, yo, most humorous.
Yo, most humorous, yeah.
Most humorous.
Yeah, humorous, yeah.
Humorous.
Humorous.
But yeah, I had a friend who introduced me to Vine, man.
You know what I'm saying?
He was like, bro, I think you should do this.
I didn't know what it was at the time. Six second clip videos, you know what I'm saying? He was like, bro, I think you should do this. I didn't know what it was at the time.
Six second clip videos.
You know what I'm saying?
It was so crazy.
I got on there.
My first video I ever did went viral.
You know what I'm saying?
What was it?
My Atlanta Talk video.
Okay.
You know, how Atlanta folks was giving directions.
I can't remember what I said.
It's the way you was describing it.
Like, don't say, make a left, make a right.
Turn, you know what I'm saying?
I didn't want to get down and do that.
Don't turn right.
And I saw that.
And what's the name?
He was like, whoop, whoop.
Like that.
Right on.
But it was a crazy.
It wasn't viral, man.
But it was dope.
But I've been doing it for some time, though, man.
And I'm just very, you know, happy of myself that I'm one of the ones that, you know, it's only a few of us, like I said.
That kept it going.
That kept it going.
You know.
Who, you, King, Batch?
Batch, DC. DC? DC was on Vine, too? Yeah, he was on Vine. Yeah. Okay. few of us like I said that kept it going you know who you King batch batch DC
DC okay Cornell Cornell Davis was was there the time yeah I was there Cornell
yeah you don't like Cornell the last Vine. I ain't going to sound like him. He's dope. He's dope. I think Cornell is really, really good.
He's very proud of him.
Because he likes you?
No, no, no.
I didn't know he was on Vine.
I don't remember him being on Vine.
I can't think.
I can't think.
I'm with Cornell.
I don't know Cornell.
Yeah, I can't think.
Cornell, my life's got a problem with you.
Nelly Vids.
Oh, okay.
That's who you're talking about?
No.
I don't know why he's got a problem with you, Cornell.
I don't have a problem with Cornell.
What camera am I looking at? Cornell, brother, I don't have no problem with you. I think you, Cornell. I don't have a problem with Cornell. What camera am I looking at? Cornell,
brother, I don't have no problem with you.
I think you're dope. I think you're amazing, brother. Keep doing your thing.
He said he just don't remember Cornell being on Vine.
I don't. That's what he said.
But I know I remember him on Instagram.
Damn, that's messed up.
That's the headline.
Desi Banks says Cornell wasn't memorable.
Desi Banks says Cornell's not memorable.
I don't remember him on Vine.
I remember him on Instagram. I not memorable. I don't remember her. I remember her on Instagram.
I don't.
I can't say I don't.
But when I said Nelly V,
when I said Nelly V,
she didn't know Nelly V.
Nah, you're big hating on Cornell.
Nah.
Oh my Jesus,
is this what y'all do up here?
Yeah.
How difficult was it
to turn those sketches
into like live,
you know,
shows and performances
and build out an actual show how
difficult was that well i think it's different from skits to stand up that's what you said man
skits is you know when you go on that stage man you can't say all right uh let me do the joke
again you know it's a different type of preparation you know i'm saying you got to actually putting in
work you know i'm saying when it comes to working on the joke you got to ref it you got to do open
mics you know i'm saying you got to put the miles in on stage and you got to study for you got to be a student of the game when it comes
to that stuff man you know it's totally different i would say you know i'm saying where do you do
open mics dude because with your big platform people like us we can't just go and we can but
it is it's harder for us to go and like little hole in the wall clubs or here then do open mics
practice our jokes yeah when i you know when i first started in the beginning, I was doing it in Atlanta.
But now, a majority of my stuff, when I'm working on new jokes,
I'm thankful that I got weekends at shows.
Nice.
You know what I'm saying?
So I work out a lot of my material at my shows.
And my material can tend to build and build and build, you know, every weekend.
Every weekend, my goal is to do a new joke every show.
Do you remember your best show and your worst show?
What was your worst show and what was your best show?
My worst show was probably in a Bahamas it was one of
the terrible shows I ever did in my life boo oh geez that's a flex oh yeah yeah
that was like in the beginning don't like I would say I was just very
scripted and people knew it you was not scripted okay like you could tell I was
like yeah remember you know say my my my you know we tell I was, like, trying to remember. Thank you too much. You know what I'm saying? That was the beginning. My, you know, beginning.
What year was this?
I probably say, like, 2018.
Anybody got the footage?
No.
Jesus Christ.
No, they don't have the footage.
No, no, no.
They don't have that footage.
You know why I like bombing?
Because I like to see how people handle that on stage.
Yeah.
I think stand-up comedy is the toughest thing you could ever do on a stage.
It was terrible, man.
But I like to see how people handle it.
It was terrible.
They booed you like bad it was bad
once you see people walking out then walking out yeah yeah yeah yeah for sure walking out and you
know as you see that your mouth get dry yeah your body get the squeeze in there and you know
and after the show you know you have that person come up to you and tap you on the shoulder
and he'd be like man hey brother you know when you tell me you lose you know
it's gonna be okay
you know
you just keep going
you gonna be just fine
everyday the sun
don't shine
if you don't wanna do it
that's fine too
so how did you get
on stage
did you just say
that's my time
and walk out
and you finish your set
I finished it
I stayed down
and I said
you know
and I was thinking
to myself
I did think like
damn is this
really for me you know what I'm saying but you know I end up you know, and I was thinking to myself, I did think like, damn, is this really for me?
You know what I'm saying?
But you know,
I ended up saying,
no,
hey man,
this was a time
where I had to figure out
what it was.
You know what I'm saying?
Why,
why wasn't they laughing?
You know?
And I,
and I know why.
I know what messed me up
in the beginning.
Like,
I was in the Bahamas
and I said something
that I should never say.
I learned that I can't,
you can't never talk bad about a place. Oh my Jesus. What'd youamas and I said something that I should never say I learned that I can't you can't never talk bad
about the country
oh my Jesus
what'd you say
I said when I landed
I said like
if you ever go to the Bahamas
I don't even know
if I should say this
on here
because I feel like
they might attack me again
but I said like
when I was landing
like I saw like
I saw like trees
like I saw a lot of trees
I saw grass
I seen like
it's like safari like
a little bit and i should have never said that i said that in like the show i said in the beginning
too and everybody was looking at me like i was like oh yeah i don't think it's what you said
i'm just saying was that supposed to be a joke like what yeah i thought you know i was being
truthful to what i thought and that was not a good idea.
Yeah.
And right then, I probably got some little chuckles, but them chuckles just went lower and lower.
It was over with.
In my opinion, I still think. I learned from it, though.
Yeah.
With that being in 2018, though, that's now we 2023.
That's five years ago.
Still, that was in the very beginning.
And for you to even be booked in the Bahamas, that says a lot.
You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So I think he he said i don't give a still but no i think that's
good would you go back there and do another show i would i most definitely would and i love the
bahamas yeah yeah so people you love the trees and the safari you have to do all from go with
duval okay i will i will go out there and do a show again yeah i love y'all out there and i
promise you i will lift you you guys place up. You got a beautiful place.
The food is amazing out there.
Tell me about the best show now.
What was the best show?
I ain't going to lie, man.
For me, man, I just did my hometown, Atlanta.
I just did two sold-out shows at the Tabernacle, man.
That's good.
But to go back home, I've done it before,
but my growth of what it was when I did it two years ago,
that's like grown, man.
And like, you know, to see the people there and get to stand and know and stuff like that.
For, you know, your hometown.
Yeah.
That was like a shock to me.
Like, you know, OK, now I'm doing it now.
You know what I'm saying?
You know, and of course, I'm still learning and growing, but, you know, I'm doing it.
All right, we got more with Desi Banks when we come back.
Don't move.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired?
Depressed?
A little bit revolutionary?
Consider this.
Start your own country.
I planted the flag.
I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete.
Everybody's doing it.
I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
I am the Queen of Laudonia.
I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg.
I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Be part of a great colonial tradition.
Why can't I trade my country?
My forefathers did that themselves.
What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up their territory.
I was making a rocket with a black powder,
you know, with explosive warheads.
Oh my God.
What is that? Bullets.
Bullets. We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing

but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best
and you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her

Sup, y'all? This is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly
podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy
with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records,
Nimany, to tell you all about it.
Make sure you check it out.
Hey, y'all. Nimany here.
I'm the host of a brand-new history podcast
for kids and families called Historical Records.
Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop.
Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history,
like this one about Claudette Colvin,
a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
nine whole months before Rosa
Parks did the same thing.
Check it.
And it began with me.
Did you know, did you know?
I wouldn't give up my seat.
Nine months before Rosa, it was called a moment.
Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise.
Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts. Hi, I'm Dani Shapiro, host of the hit podcast, Family Secrets. How would you feel if
when you met your biological father for the first time, he didn't even say hello? And how would you feel if when you met your biological father for the first time, he didn't even say hello?
And how would you feel if your doctor advised you to keep your life-altering medical procedure a secret from everyone?
And what if your past itself was a secret, and the time had suddenly come to share that past with your child?
These are just a few of the powerful and profound questions we'll be asking on our 11th season of Family Secrets. Some of you have been with us since season one,
and others are just tuning in. Whatever the case, and wherever you are, thank you for being part of
our Family Secrets family, where every week we explore the secrets that are kept from us,
the secrets we keep from others, and the secrets we
keep from ourselves.

It's DJ Envy Charlemagne.
The guy, Jess Hilarious. We're still kicking it with
Desi Banks. Charlemagne?
When did you start making money? That's what I always wonder about
the guys and girls that be on mine
people think people think that you can't get all these views you making money
yeah always translate the money so when you start making money I started making
money on YouTube that was back in like I like 2017 2018 like not at all some
months type you know yeah something on it I a month type, you know. Yeah. $1,700, stuff like that.
And I was happy.
I like people like this.
Everybody be like, I make $10 million a month.
No, no, no.
I wasn't making that at the time.
But I was just happy to get my own apartment and, you know, be able to get me a haircut
and pay my cell phone bill.
Right.
And, you know, do these videos.
You know what I'm saying?
That was my thing back then.
I wasn't worried about nothing else.
You know what I'm saying?
I knew everything was going to come.
I was like, you know what I'm saying?
Continue to put in the work.
What got you to the stage?
What made you say, you know what, I'm going to go do stand-up?
You don't necessarily have to go do stand-up. Yeah, I went through something, man.
Like I said, I was a student of the game, and I felt like if I wanted to be respected
and I wanted to take things to another level as far as being in movies and stuff like that,
I had to do what the OGs did, the ones that they laid the blueprint out for us.
Who told you that?
Somebody told you that.
No, no.
Like I said, nobody told me that.
Okay.
Yeah.
Like I said, I was a real student of it.
You know what I'm saying?
I watched people like Eddie Murphy, Martin, was like my main two growing up as a kid.
You know what I'm saying?
And when I really started taking this years after football, I saw what they did.
You know what I'm saying? They get in those big movies, you, I saw what they did. You know what I'm saying?
They get in those big movies.
You have to do the stand up.
You know, every big comedian that you see in this world that's been in a movie, they've done, you know, stand up.
So I knew I had to do that.
But like I said, I had a story, man.
I was put out.
My ex ex put me out of the department because of the apartment because I wasn't making enough money.
Damn.
And that's when I knew then
I had to figure out how the hell
I'm going to get some money.
How'd she tell you that?
Oh, he.
I don't know.
Well, no, you know,
it was just a point.
I felt like, you know,
at the time,
I felt like at the time.
He's right because you can't assume.
I don't want to assume.
Yeah, I did.
I just felt like at the time
she didn't believe in what I wanted to do.
She wanted me to get a job.
You know what I'm saying? I didn't make enough income. And at the time, I was working in what I wanted to do. She wanted me to get a job You know I'm saying I didn't make enough income and at the time I working at like smoothie King
So the money that I was getting like I said
I was just paying to either get me a haircut pay my cell phone bill and everything else. I was just giving her
She probably happy for my I would hope so. You know what I'm saying?
Can't spend a block?
Nah.
Uh-uh.
No.
I don't think so.
You in a relationship now?
Huh?
That's crazy.
You don't know more with that answer.
Let me finish my story right now.
You sweating right now.
God damn.
You sweating.
Go ahead.
You sweating right now.
God damn. Jess, who sent you? What happened? I? Go ahead. He's sweating right now. Goddamn.
Jess, who sent you?
What happened?
I didn't know.
Come on, man.
You know my situation.
I'm sorry.
No, I don't.
You follow me.
Stop playing.
You know what's going on.
Don't do that.
We don't follow you.
We don't know what's going on.
Y'all don't follow me.
I know you.
We don't know what's going on.
I got a family.
I got a family.
So why you answer with that?
You act like I'm asking you

It's a vibe.
If you guys are in the tri-state, RSVP, pull up.
Yeah, it's going to be a really dope night.
Mello called up here this morning.
He said he's coming.
She don't know who Mello is.
Mello is a great guy.
She's like, Mello, I don't know who Mello is.
Mello is somebody who calls every morning.
Every time he can, he's a long-time listener to Breakfast Club.
He said he's coming.
That's the first thing he said.
Shout out to Nala.
She got an event tonight.
I'm going to be there.
Oh, my God.
Oh, can't wait to see you, Mello.
Thank you.
All right, fire.
Yeah, I'm excited.
I'm really, really excited.
But to start with Pass the Aux, I'm going to start with Diddy's Project.
I know you guys had him on the show.
Yep.
And they flipped Stay with Jodeci.
A few times, yeah.
So I was like, oh, this is great.
And my friend Kaylin Furrow Furrow's on the record, so I just wanted to play it.
I'm going to tell y'all something
I know y'all think
We work for Diddy
And we get paid
To say these things
But this album is really good
Yeah
The album is dope
It's really dope
I can't wait to get high
This weekend
And really just vibe out
To the love album
Okay
Alright
Okay
What's up with y'all man
Why
I can't wait to be high
Why
Why
Take that
Take that Yes Take that.
Take that.
Take that. Yes.
That's nice.
I do like that, though.
What else you got, Nala?
I will say, I think the cool thing about that is how blended the sounds of R&B are.
Because you have, like, singer-singers.
You got auto-tune singers.
And they both blend very well.
He bridges the gap very, very well on the project.
Yeah, well arranged.
And it made me want, I want to see more OGs, executive produce, younger people's music, especially in R&B.
And vice versa, I like to see older producers working with, I mean younger producers working with older artists like Hip Boy and Nas did.
I want to see more of that as well.
That's actually a great idea.
Yeah.
We have seen, Jermaine Dupri did it a little bit with Ari Lennox, but yeah, I agree with you.
So the second record I'm going to get into
is from Roboston Richie,
who was a freshman XXL this year.
And the record's called Bubba Man.
I'm going to get high and listen to that this weekend.
I like that.
That's hard.
I like that now.
I'm going to close bombs with Roboston Richie, man.
I'm loving them young boys,
Trigger the Toxic in me.
You know what I'm saying?
What's Trigger the Toxic in you?
That man said,
you're poom-poom good, but I'm going to keep cheating. You don't understand. You know what I'm saying? What trigger the toxic in you? That man said, you're poom poom good,
but I'm going to keep cheating.
You don't understand.
You don't understand.
That's the only line you got?
Damn.
Sometimes I just wish
I was still toxic
to use lines like that.
What are you talking about?
Well, it seems like
Jess is still toxic,
so she's going to choose.
Thank you.
Take that back.
I'm going to take that.
Take that back.
No, yeah, I don't wish that.
Okay, thank you.
The parts of me
that's still healing,
really enjoy that. Oh, my goodness. What else you got now? This man about to get a shirt. Yeah, okay don't wish that. Okay, thank you. The parts of me that's still healing, really enjoy that.
Oh, my goodness.
What else you got now?
This man about to get a shot.
Really enjoy that.
And I did a new interview
with Real Boston Richie on We Need to Talk.
It's actually my most streamed interview so far.
Really?
Nice, nice.
Dope, dope, dope.
It's really, really good.
At WNTTLK.
And my last record is by Rod Wave.
It's called Turks and Caicos featuring 21 Savage.
Salute to Rod Wave.
I love it. This is why we need real R&B back though because they just be treating y'all women like
y'all disposable. They don't even care.
What are you talking about? You said she here for a short time
not a long time. I'm not taking no
short time to Turks and Kegels.
You go to Turks and Kegels with your wife like the girl
that you want to be with for the rest of your life.
I'm not taking no short time to Turks and Kegels with your wife, like the girl that you want to be with for the rest of your life. Right. Not taking no, just short time
to go to Turks and Kegels.
I think people take trips
more frequent
than they did back then.
Turks and Kegels?
Definitely.
You go to Myrtle Beach.
They do.
You know what I'm saying?
You go to Virginia Beach.
You know what I mean?
You go, what?
I was really curious
how y'all felt about
the Girls Girls reference,
y'all liked it.
That's a hold from
Girls Girls Girls Girls.
That's my hold was toxic.
You barely get into Miami
Nah
Nah listen
This is before you guys
Were traveling
This guy's before you
Can't get on planes

Don't go chasing the Turks and Caicos.

and Myrtle Beaches you used to.
Nah, it's too hot.
Virginia Beach is always nice, though.

Yo, relax. I just said no. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy Charlamagne. The guy, Jess Solaris, is here.
Now, Jess Solaris told us earlier that she's never been to Turks.
Why do you keep saying that?
You said it first.
That's why we brought up the break.
It's not like Jess can't afford to go herself.
Yeah, it's just like I just haven't been.
Just because R. Kelly flew you to Turks and left you in a hotel.
Left you in a hotel don't mean that.
Yo, so what?
So what?
I didn't get to Turks.
I got to Chicago. Oh, Chicago. Chicago. Don't play with me mean that. Yo, so what? So what? I didn't get the tour. I got the Chicago.

Niminy here.
I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records.
Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and John Glickman, Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop.
Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history.
Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
nine whole months before Rosa Parks did
the same thing. Check it. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical
Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise.
