Starting point is 00:02:37 Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, jellera. How, how you feel, jess, how you feel, yes. It's Tuesday. How y'all feel out there? I feel blessed black and highly favored. Happy, happy to be here, another day to serve our beautiful listeners. Good morning. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:02:56 How you feeling, Jess. I feel good. It was crazy watching basketball last night. Did I watch basketball? Yeah. No, I ain't watching. No, you didn't. What was the game, y'all?
Starting point is 00:03:06 It was a couple of games last night. It was playoff games. Cavaliers won last night. The Timberwolves and the Knicks were up by 12 with like eight minutes left. Oh, yeah, the Knicks just collapsed. Oh, they lost. What did they? Salute the ATS.
Starting point is 00:03:18 Sluke just completely collapsed. Collapsed horribly. Was it a good game, no? No, we lost. I know, but y'all lost in the last eight minutes, you said. Yeah. I'm saying before that, was it a good game. We was up by 12.
Starting point is 00:03:29 It was a good game. It was a good game. I'm just mad that we lost. Atlanta one. Dropping the clues bombs for Atlanta. Why? I don't have no dog in this fight. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:37 So Atlanta won. We're on the radio in Atlanta. We'll be in Atlanta this Saturday for the Black Effect Podcast Festival. All right. You don't have a favorite basketball team, John? No. You know, I grew up rooting for the horn this a little bit, but no. I've always like individual players.
Starting point is 00:03:51 I don't like teams in basketball. Soon to the New York. Except for, you know, Lady Game Cox in South Carolina. But professional, no. We lost one. We'll be back, though. That's what I mean, I got no choice but to be back.
Starting point is 00:04:02 It's a game three. That's what I mean y'all going to win. We're going to win it. It's going to be in Atlanta at State Farms Arena. That's all right. We'll win that one. You lost your ring and you got it. Yeah, I found it back.
Starting point is 00:04:11 I found it in my face. Yeah, I found my ring. Somebody got a ring because the Knicks won't get one. You shut up. The Knicks ain't getting one. It's good that you found yours. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Let's get the show cracking. Donnell Rawlins will be joining us. Never heard of them. Never heard of them. No? He's performing at the city winery? No? on the 24th and 25th now?
Starting point is 00:04:30 Yes, he got four shows this weekend. Yeah, four shows this weekend. Seven and nine on both nights. That's right. So we'll be chopping it up with Donald out yet. They definitely not sold out. They are. No.
Starting point is 00:04:40 They are. Gary Owens would have sold out fast. I know. It was sold out months ago. But stop. Just leave it alone. All right. Well, we'll be kicking with Donnell Rollins.
Starting point is 00:04:46 We got front page news when we come back. So don't go anywhere. A lot to break down. Where's OVO? I don't know. He's hyped about Drake. Is he in today? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:04:54 But we got to start the show with Kalani. We ain't nothing. OVO is on the first flight to Toronto. Nothing from Atlanta? Atlanta won last night. How about not? How about Drake?
Starting point is 00:05:02 Because, you know, Drake. I beat on it all night, man. I be on it. We ain't got that. Oh, I like that. Let's see if we got Kryptonite in there. So we definitely, Drake, there's going to be enough Drake played
Starting point is 00:05:12 when Iceman drop. I'm sure. Okay. Unless the radio is in on it, too, and the radio. The radio decides out to play, Drake. He did name the radio stations in the lawsuits. K.R.
Starting point is 00:05:22 They spoke Cryptonite with a K. K.R. No? No. No. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:05:25 No. 9-9-9-9. Pull up Ti and let them know. But I got to set the tone. I got to start the show right. I love Kalani. Kalani's going to play four more times before the day. There you go.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Drop on the clothes bomb for TI, man. Salute to Atlanta. We'll see you Saturday at the fourth annual Black Effect Podcast Festival. Congratulations on your win last night against the Nix. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Just hilarious. Sholomey and the guy, we are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Let's get in some front page news. Like we said earlier, if you're just joining us to some quick sports, the Knicks lost last night. The Hawks beat on 107, 106 after being up by 12 for like 10 minutes left. But we'll be back game three. Cavaliers beat the Raptors 115 101, 105, and the Timberwolves beat the Nuggets 119, 114. Salute to everybody who loses us on 96.1 to beat in Atlanta, man. All right. They're happy this morning. You said it three times, okay. Don't get mad at me because your Knicks lost.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Hello, Mimi. Good morning, Mee, Jash Alamaine. How y'all doing this morning? Peace, Mimi, Brown. What's your team of preference in Alaska, Mimi? I'm just... They do not have a team. We don't have a team. No, no.
Starting point is 00:06:26 But the Seahawks. Oh, the Seahawks. That's close to Alaska? Seattle's like basically our next neighbor. Well, the Supersonics. Super Sonics. We're talking, NBA, not football. Yeah, football.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Seahawks, yeah. Why are you looking at me? Okay. Because she said Seahawks, I'm like, that's a football team. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, sorry, me, go ahead. That's okay. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:06:49 All right, so we start this morning in Virginia where voters, They're headed to the polls this morning in a decision that could affect control of Congress. So on the ballot, whether to redraw congressional maps now instead of waiting for the next census cycle. So voters say yes, it could help Democrats win more seats in the House as control of Congress. It hangs in the balance. And this isn't just about Virginia, Democrats. They're also looking at new maps to counter potential Republican gains in states like Texas and Missouri, where mid-cycle redistricting could give GOP more people.
Starting point is 00:07:22 pick-up opportunities. And ahead of today's vote, President Obama is making one final pitch to voters in the state. Let's listen. By voting yes, you have a chance to do something important. Not just for the Commonwealth, but for our entire country. By voting yes, you can push back against the Republicans trying to give themselves an unfair advantage in the midterms. By voting yes, you can take a temporary step to level the playing field. Well, on the other side of that, President Trump is making his last minute push, urging Virginians to vote no. Speaking on a call with House Speaker Mike Johnson and Trump called the measure a quote power grab, warning that it could give Democrats a major advantage in Congress. And one thing to note this morning, even if voters do approve this, it may not be the final word.
Starting point is 00:08:11 The state Supreme Court in Virginia, they are already reviewing this plan, meaning that today's results could still be challenged. And of course, the stakes are high. I think each side spent about $100 million into this fight, making this one of the biggest political battles in the state right now. So something to watch there. And as we watch that play out, the Justice Department is now suing 29 states and Washington, D.C. over voter record. So the federal government is demanding access to voter rolls, election data.
Starting point is 00:08:44 We've been talking about this, including some actual ballot. So in Michigan, this includes a request for, nearly 865,000 actual ballots from Detroit's 2024 election. State officials say there's no widespread evidence of fraud there, and they're claiming this is just a fishing expedition. And they're also warning that if they turn over any of these ballots, it could be disruptive, especially with another election coming up. But the administration says this is all about election integrity and making sure that
Starting point is 00:09:13 voters are listed accurately and are only eligible voters are voting. Let's listen to Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dillon. I've requested the voter rolls from all states in the District of Columbia. About a third of the states have voluntarily complied with us or reached settlements with us. I'm suing 29 states and the District of Columbia
Starting point is 00:09:35 for their refusal to give us the voter rolls to which the Attorney General or the Acting Attorney General is entitled under the Civil Rights Act of 1960. We're doing that to make sure that states are in compliance and guess what? States are not in compliance. even those ones who want to, and we've referred approximately 25,000 people with no citizenship records to Homeland Security to look at, you know, dig into that further and see the extent to which people voted. And so that's what they're looking for.
Starting point is 00:10:07 They're looking for to see if actual citizens are voting. And voter rights groups are pointing out that that's less than 1%. So if you have 60 million voters and you have 25,000 who may have voted because their citizenship was questionable at the time. That's less than 1%. And they are also calling it a fishing expedition. Yeah, there shouldn't be federal overreach for state elections, right? Well, there shouldn't be.
Starting point is 00:10:33 There shouldn't be. But that's what we have. And some red states, though, are voluntarily turning over their voter rolls. And so I think that's what she was speaking to. And some of the other states that she's suing are not. They're fighting back and saying, you know, this is controlled by the state and we want to keep it that way. and turning now to another legal showdown, this one involving the FBI director. So Cash Patel, he is suing the Atlantic for $250 million,
Starting point is 00:10:59 accusing the magazine of publishing false and damaging claims about him. So the lawsuit was just filed yesterday. He calls the report a defamatory hit piece, and at the center of it, there's an article alleging that Patel drinks assessively and he has unexplained abscesses from work. And at one point, he believed that he had been fired, and basically crashed out after being locked out of an FBI system. Now, he's calling this story a lie, and he's vowing to fight it in court.
Starting point is 00:11:26 This is him earlier this week on Fox News. We have to fight back against the fake news. It's one of the many things that President Trump is so successful at in leading out on, because no one is attacked as baselessly as he is and as much as he is. And our leaders that get attacked under his brilliant leadership must do the same. And I won't tolerate their attacks on me, because they are indirect attention. attacks on the men and women of the FBI that we've cleaned up and this historic prolific year of crime reduction across the board. And if the fake news mafia wants to, you know, bring their drum bait
Starting point is 00:11:57 as loud as they can, they're never going to stop me from completing the mission that President Trump asked me to do, which is safeguarding America. And we're doing it better than ever before. Now, I've been following this case all weekend because, you know, defamation suits are always so interesting because it's hard for public figures to sue for defamation. And when I heard the Atlantic, right? The Atlantic say when I heard the Atlantic say they are standing by the reporting, I wonder how they can be so sure
Starting point is 00:12:24 what they are saying is true. Like what makes them stand by their report? They talk to current and former officials, which claim that he has been unreachable and critical moments and there were concerns raised internally that have impacted FBI operations and decision making. So they apparently have been talking to people inside the FBI
Starting point is 00:12:42 and they're standing by their sources and their witnesses account. of him being visibly intoxicated at times. Yeah, I was going to say, how did you say somebody's drunk and been drinking a lot? You'd have to have, you'd have to, that'd have to be documented. Yeah, I'm not saying it's not true.
Starting point is 00:12:55 I'm just saying when somebody makes a definitive stand and says, I'm standing by my reporting. How do you know what you've been told is true? Yeah, well, they said they have multiple sources, in different settings, so much so. Even when I talked about that crash out, they said that he went absolutely crazy. It happened to be like a clerical error,
Starting point is 00:13:12 like a glitch. They were updating the computers, but he crashed out, that he was going to turn on Trump and all these other things. So apparently a lot of people have been concerned enough that it has raised national security concerns among officials with his public intoxication. That's what they're saying.
Starting point is 00:13:31 And they said, $50 million is crazy. That's a lot of money. Yeah. A lot of money. And they said there was a logging glitch and he thought he was fired. That's so hilarious to me because that happens all the time at this building. Like people are walking in and their car.
Starting point is 00:13:45 won't work for some reason. And they're like, oh my God, it's the day-to-day. Yep. All right. And that's when they say he crashed out. So we'll continue to watch that lawsuit and see where that goes. And coming up at seven, billions of dollars are being paid from tariffs. But the big question is, will that affect you?
Starting point is 00:14:02 Will you get any of that money back? We're going to talk about it in the next hour. All right. Everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-58-105-105-1. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Wake up, wake up.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Wake your ass. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed, we want to hear from you on the breakfast block. Hello, who's this? Yo, what's up, y'all? What's up, Tray? Good morning, Tray. Sad, chilling, chilling.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Jazz. Yes, boo. I watched from yesterday. Oh, my God. The first episode, yes. All I'm going to say is, like, when the season ended last season, I was left with questions, and now they introduced a new storyline that made me have more questions. Right, I got more questions, too.
Starting point is 00:14:41 You know we got to see it through because this is our show, but, like, I'm a little, It's a horror series called From on MGM Plus, and it's good. It's been a long time. It's like three seasons and now we're on season four. After we had to wait a year to get it. What, two years, right? What was it? No, one?
Starting point is 00:14:58 Yeah, two years. Yeah, like two years to get it. Yeah, but I know Boyd is going through it, yo. I know he is just as confused as we are. He's definitely going through it. But listen, I need to say to you all real quick, right? I'm going to rubble a little bit of feathers this morning, probably. God has done a lot of things in my life, right?
Starting point is 00:15:14 He has worked miracles. He has, like, done some miraculous things in my life. And I saw this podcast and this gay boy and they're saying that God delivered him from being gay. God is not delivering you from being gay. He is not worried about you. Being gay, he ain't stopping you from being gay. All you doing this depressing your feelings. You're going to always like men.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Have you seen the men out here? Judge. Star, have you seen the men out here? Why are you mad at that man if he changed his diet? That man don't want to eat meat no more He don't got to eat meat no more Listen, God is not delivering Nobody
Starting point is 00:15:49 You don't think so He's got bigger things with his place But you can't say that, Trave You can't God's ministry for him Might be different than it is for you So you don't have Bigger's things on his plate
Starting point is 00:16:00 To be worried about to meet he in I don't think of what I am You just keep eating that meat, Chad Don't worry about other people's meat Man let that man live in his faith The way he want to live in his faith He still gay y'all Don't let none of these church women
Starting point is 00:16:12 Marry him He still gay Well, look, well, look, how about you? If you could prove it, then I believe you, you should test it. You should jump in his DM and see if he, um, oblige. Nah, he's one of the church queens. I don't do church queens. Oh, you don't do the church queen.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I just don't understand how Travis can say God has worked so many different ways in his life, but then tell somebody else how God is working in that. He stopped you from being gay. He ain't going to. Man, let that man believe what he want to believe. Bye, Trave. Bye. You sound like the devil this morning.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Get it off your chest. 800585-105-1. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. I'm telling. I'm telling. Hey, what you doing, man?

And in this new season of the girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck.

My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network. It's Will Ferrell. Woo. My dad gave me the best advice ever.
Starting point is 00:23:33 I went and had lunch with them one day, and I was like, and Dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through, and I know it's a place they come. Look for up and coming town. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. And he's like, just give it a shot.
Starting point is 00:23:55 He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah. It would not be... Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck.
Starting point is 00:24:17 Listen to Thanks Dad on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Talk, L.L. Cube. Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself. Damn. I'm being myself. That source is... I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everything.
Starting point is 00:24:36 The little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that. Where is she gone? The latest with Marlon Lowe. On the breakfast club. L.L. Cubey. Talk to me. All righty y'all. So Drake has been teasing us with the Ice Man album for over a year now at this point. But he's finally given the fans with it, right?
Starting point is 00:24:58 It doesn't feel like a year. It feels like longer than that. But he's finally given the fans what they want, kind of. So yesterday, Drake posted a photo to his Instagram of him standing in front of a bunch of ice blocks. So remember I told you guys that there was this like ice block scene in downtown Toronto that was a video shoot was happening at and Drake was seen there. So literally that photo is him on that set. And in the caption, he says, release date inside. And then he put the address, 81 Bond Street, downtown Toronto. So this is the parking lot of the Bond Hotel in the middle of the downtown.
Starting point is 00:25:28 So, of course, fans flopped. I think it's genius. Oh, my God. When I say you got the streamers out there, you got just fans who are excited. People were probably confused and don't know why are by standing on top of these ice blocks. But there were signs out there that said that it was not safe for you to be touching the ice and you know because it can melt or whatever anytime whatever but people are out there doing it anyway
Starting point is 00:25:47 I saw videos of people like trying to start fires on top of the ice they have flame throwers they have flamethrowers they're literally trying to because within yeah within the ice block is the release date so people are trying to get to the release date oh that it gives the promo that he needs and I heard
Starting point is 00:26:04 allegedly Drake security is going crazy because people are on ice they can slip fall hurt themselves and that can be possible he's not liable for that What do you mean? I doubt it. I saw signs out there that were warning people to like not get close and not get on the ice and stuff like that and people are doing it anyway.
Starting point is 00:26:22 So I don't know Woody would be live before. But I thought it was smart too because you bring people out. I was literally like causing the commotion that a rollout is supposed to cause. It's definitely good promo. And also it's a rollout. People don't do rollouts anymore. They don't do promo anymore. They don't do stunts anymore.
Starting point is 00:26:38 So it's good. Yeah. Did they end up breaking it down? It's a lot of ice. You're not going to get through it. They're going to be there for some time. There have been reports I saw Complex, the report trying to figure out when the ice would break. And according to chat, GPT and Complex, they're looking at six to ten days.
Starting point is 00:26:56 They're basing it off of the weather in Toronto, how desperate people are to get through it. So within that time, hopefully, if it's even, like, what if they go through all this and it's not even really there? And this is just a tease. Our official Drake Glazer saying that he's thinking that it should be melted by Friday. O-V-O-D writer. He's saying by Friday, he said he was going to go there and go, like breathe on it together. Yeah, baby.
Starting point is 00:27:18 And he wants to suck on Drake any way he can. Any way he can open his mouth and blow on Drake, he's down to do it. That's what that sounded. Like, if you said that, he lost, you, come in there and slap you. Yeah, and there were also photos of Drake and his son, Adonis. They were shooting another music video, and Adonis is supposed to, it's rumored to be in that music video. There was, like, a video of him sitting in, like, a Toronto police car,
Starting point is 00:27:38 or a photo of him sitting in a police car. So Iceman is on the way. We just don't know the date yet, but we're almost there once they get through all those blocks of ice. Oh, that house. Yeah, so in other news, the celebrities were out last night. So there were a few movie premieres that went down. So over in at Leigh, I'm sorry, here in New York, you had the Devil Words
Starting point is 00:27:57 Prada premiere that went down, which, you know, we're always excited to see the cast together. Did you go? I did not go. You were talking about going. I'm going to go see the movie for sure, but I didn't go to the premiere last night. But Ann Hathaway, Merrill Street, Emily Blunt, Heidi Kloom, Winnie Harlow on the carpet as well too. I think people are just always excited to see them together.
Starting point is 00:28:15 But people are super excited about that movie, huh? Yes. What do you mean? Your wife don't like the first one? I mean, she did, but she wasn't talking about it like these women all like that. I asked you if I could do a watch party for it at American Dream. Remember I was like, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:31 that's because we're excited. We want to dress up. What was the first Devil Wears Prada about? The first Devil Words Prada was about Anne Hathaway going and working for Merrill Street. It's about working in fashion. So you go work at this magazine and you think it's all glamorous and then you go through AT double hockey sticks because your boss is crazy. You can say hell. Okay. You go through
Starting point is 00:28:47 hell because your boss is crazy and you're just trying to figure it out but eventually she becomes the girl that couldn't figure it out to the girl that is dominate in the industry and she becomes Merrill Street like her lifeline. What's so relatable about it though? I mean there's no black women in the cash. I worked in fashion forever so when I moved to New York. No when I moved to New York
Starting point is 00:29:03 I worked for Cosemolitan magazine I did project when we all stars the second season check IMDB. I was in the industry and and really trying to, like, at one point, you try to emulate what you see in these movies. So you do think going into magazines is going to be amazing. I worked at the Cosmo Fashion Closet. And it kind of was giving Devil Words product.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Like, you have your editor-in-chief who gives Merrill Streep. You have, you know, the fashion editors who give a lot of the other people in the movie. I think it's just, like, it's just a feel-good fashion film. Like, girls love to get dressed up. That's it. And the girls love Anne Hathaway and Mero Street. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:29:36 But in other news, over in L.A., talking about fairy tales, the Michael Jackson premiere went down and I was watching both premieres and when I tell you it wasn't a lot of celebrities like there were people in names of course and celebrities at the Devil Wars Prada one but Michael Jackson's premiere took over the timeline
Starting point is 00:29:52 I'm just going to list some of the celebrities that were there and I do have some photos of the people who actually dressed up so you had Bobby Brown and his wife and she was dressed up in the MJ theme you had Usher who wore he did like the socks he didn't do the full situation but he did the socks with the shoes
Starting point is 00:30:07 you had Smokey Robin and his wife, Martin Lawrence, Karima Abdul-Jabbar, Alan Iverson, who pulled up with a Michael Jackson T-shirt on, Tyrese, Waleigh. Waleigh was in full MJ attire. He even did, like, the poses on the carpet.
Starting point is 00:30:24 There was so many people there, but one of the things that we learned on the carpet, remember there had been rumors that, like, Janet Jackson might not be participating in the movie whatsoever, right? Latoya Jackson was talking about how amazing the movie is and talking about the fact that Janet isn't a part of it.
Starting point is 00:30:39 Let's take a listen. What did you think when they came to you and said, we want to do a biopic about Michael? I said, this is wonderful. Just make sure it's true to life. And it was good. And it was great. And it is. I have to tell you that Jafar was absolutely fabulous.
Starting point is 00:30:55 I'm sure you've seen the movie and you know how wonderful he is, how we all forget and think that we're watching Mike. And it's like, oh, I forgot this is Jafar. So he really delivered. He did a fabulous job. Have you started consulting on the sequel or the third movie? I'm not sure if there's going to be a sequel. That's up to the producers. I hear there might be.
Starting point is 00:31:16 We don't know. So, no, I haven't been contacted yet. Did you miss not having Janet in the movie? I wish I was. You try to convince her and say, let's do it. Well, she was asked and she kindly declined, so you have to respect her wishes. Yeah, and a lot of people are talking about how, like, when they went to see the movie, premieres.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Like, it doesn't even feel like you're watching a movie because Jafar is so good. It feels like you're just watching a Michael Jackson concert. Like, so many people are saying that. Candy Burr's was, she attended a private screening that Missy Elliott did. Lionsgate did a whole movie theater ran out for Missy. Candy Burrins went and she said the same thing. Let's take a listen. She did a day where she invited her family and friends to do a private movie screening of the Michael
Starting point is 00:32:03 Jackson movie. I felt like I was at a concert. the whole time. The movie was amazing. Even my son, Ace, he was watching it and he was like, I want to be like Michael Jackson when I get over there. Like the music, the performance, the way
Starting point is 00:32:19 that the crowd was going on. I guess, you know, Ace was super impressed. But the thing that I thought was so cool was, I believe, because Michael Jackson's nephew plays him in this movie. And when I tell you, he deserves an award because I thought, and not that I thought,
Starting point is 00:32:35 I knew it wasn't him, but I felt like I was watching Michael Jackson. That's how good he was. It was wonderful. I can't wait to see it because I just want to know they capture the magnitude of Michael Jackson because if you didn't live it, you have no idea that Michael Jackson was the most famous person of all time. Like Michael Jackson, I can't even describe the level of celebrity that Michael Jackson was. Like we have never seen anything like that again.
Starting point is 00:33:02 And we will never see it ever again. And we'll probably never see it ever again. Lauren calls me this morning, but like, now I see what y'all unks be talking about when you're saying Michael Jackson is so big. No, I didn't say so big because I know Michael Jackson is big. No, that's not what I said. Let's go to crash. He said, I understand the impact of his celebrity now. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 00:33:20 It's DJ NV. Jess hilarious. Salameen the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get back in some front page news. Last night in sports, horrible night for my New York Knicks fans, man. We were up 12 with like nine minutes, 10 minutes left, and we lost. Lost by one.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Hawks beat the Knicks last night, 107-106. Well, salute to everybody who listens us on 96.1 to beat in Atlanta. They're happy this morning. Okay, could you be happy for some of our listeners and stop thinking about yourself all the damn time? Don't do that. Don't do that. The Cavaliers beat the Raptors 1-15-105 and the Timberwolves beat the Nuggets 111-14. What's up, Mimi? Mee-Mey.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. All right, so we start this hour with billions of dollars on the line and whether any of it could make its way back to you. So two months ago, the Supreme Court of the United States, they ruled that the Trump administration illegally imposed those tariffs after collecting about $166 million, or billion dollars. Now the government is being forced to pay that money back, and to do so, U.S. Customs and Border Protection's, they launched a new refund portal, allowing importers to apply and get that money back with interest. But the reality is not everyone qualified. So if your small business, you could still be left out, especially if those tariff costs were passed down through suppliers.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Here's one small business owner breaking down how this is hitting her small business. I started to calculate it, and I'm up over $30,000 at this time. My tariffs were passed through to me by the actual importers. And, of course, if one reads the rules of how to get a refund, you have to be an importer of record. you have to demonstrate that you actually brought the product into the United States. Yeah, when they say paying back billions, trust and believe, they're not talking about anyone who actually needs it. Yeah, because at first I was thinking, what if you just buy goods?
Starting point is 00:35:10 If you buy goods and they put tariffs on it, can you get the money from that too, right? For people that's buying a car or if they were on sheen or whatever the tariffs that shot up, can they get that money back, but you're saying no? No, you can't. Experts say that, you know, only bigger companies, like maybe those vendors will benefit the most, But even those people will still be waiting six to nine months to see that money right now. More than 56,000 importers, they've already started the process. But again, for everyday people, if you paid higher prices, like most of us, we paid higher prices for goods, we are not expected to get our money back.
Starting point is 00:35:43 Although some companies, like UPS, Costco, they say they do plan to issue refunds to customers who pay those extra costs. But, you know, not all companies are making that pledge. and so some consumers, some customers, they're already suing companies to try and get those refunds. Yeah, I don't even know why they're even spending it like that. The government is starting to pay back billions and you think that's going in people's pockets.
Starting point is 00:36:06 No, that's going to retailers. Like Walmart is getting $10.2 billion. Target's getting $2.2 billion. Nike's getting a billion dollars back. Coles is getting a refund. The Gap, Macy's. You're not, Jamal. Are you, Tanya?
Starting point is 00:36:20 Okay. But, well, those, Those places that you name Nike or Target or Walmart, will they be reducing their prices back because they got that money back? No. For what? That's the right thing to do. Thank you. That's the right thing to do.
Starting point is 00:36:34 That is the right thing to do. But a lot of companies say that they can't make that, they can't say at the time if they're going to do that, which clearly means no. But think about, you know, small businesses, people who are just, you know, mom and pop shops, they're not going to get their money back either. So it's just, it's a, it's a mess, right? But remember last week we were talking about fees, we were talking about, you know, when we check out, like, I think we were specifically talking about Live Nation and Ticketmaster and all the fees that were added on to that, right? So, well, now there's another development with that, and this one could mean money back for some consumers. So Live Nation, they are paying 10 million to settle claims that it misled fans about those tickets. So if you've ever clicked on a ticket thinking it was one price only to see it jump at checkout, that's exactly what this case is about.
Starting point is 00:37:18 So investigators say for years, the full. cost wasn't shown up front with added fees popping up at the very end, making it harder to, you know, stick to your budget or whatever you, money you had planned to spend. So they said that the company, they also used pressure tactics. So you've seen those countdown clocks at the end, meaning you know, hurry up and make your purchase or get out. They said that those were intimidation tactics used to rush people into buying. And so now $8.9 million could go back to customers, but this is only in the Washington, D.C. area where the case was filed. details on how to claim that money coming soon.
Starting point is 00:37:53 But moving forward, Live Nation says it will now start showing the full price, including fees earlier in the process, a change that is going to affect ticket buyers nationwide. So if you're in D.C., perhaps you have a little bit of money coming back. And speaking of costs at checkout, here's something that a lot of people are talking about this morning, the change in tipping culture. So a new study shows that more people say they feel pressured, to tip and it's starting to change how much
Starting point is 00:38:23 they actually give. So if you've ever been at a restaurant grabbing takeout, picking up coffee, even at a self-serve spot and they flip that payment screen around and those tips come up at 18%, 20% many people say tipping doesn't feel optional anymore.
Starting point is 00:38:39 They feel pressured. Have you guys ever experienced that when you go? Absolutely positively. I mean, a lot of times the tip is already in the meal or in your ticket already in your bill and that pisses me off because if I don't like what the server is doing, right? If the server is not catering to my table, not refilling my drinks, I should be able to say, no, I'm not tipping you this amount. I want to
Starting point is 00:38:59 tip you this amount. And the fact that it's already there pisses me off. Well, I've never been to a restaurant where the gratuity was already added and they weren't giving good service. Usually, like, those are the restaurants where they ensure good service when they already know their tip is built in. That's true. And also, too, you know, on top of that, if gratuity's already included, but I think the person is like really, really good. I'll add more. I enjoy tipping, to be honest with you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:26 Well, about 60% of people say they are feeling pressured or compelled to tip. Like, if you go to the Starbucks or whatever, they say that tipping used to be tied to service, but now it's tied to that payment screen that most people have to push in order to check out nowadays.
Starting point is 00:39:41 So about 44% of Americans say they're tipping less, and 80% say the tipping culture has gotten out of control just because you're tipping, just because you're buying something, you're no longer tipping just because of service. But I'm going to say, you know, everybody should act their wage, so if you got a little extra to give, do it.
Starting point is 00:40:00 But those people, if you're going to, you know, certain places frequently, they remember that. Like, you may not think they're paying attention when you pressing that 10%, 15% or 20%, but they absolutely are, and they remember that. Yes, they do. Yeah, but, like, I wonder, like, where that came from. Like, because it just came out of nowhere.
Starting point is 00:40:16 I feel like for the past few years, like Subway or Smoothie King or Tropical Cafe, things that, places that don't involve you sitting down and you have a server that's going back to the kitchen to come back. What are they making your sandwich at Subway? Yeah, I get it.
Starting point is 00:40:31 They've been doing that for years, and they didn't have a tipping process until, like, well, five, six years ago, something like that. I mean, I guess it was a problem, but it's like, yeah, like, why I got to be everywhere now? Well, let me ask you a question. I don't feel pressure to do it. If you tip the subway person, why don't you tip the McDonald's person?
Starting point is 00:40:50 They make your burgers. Yeah, but there's no tipping option. They don't have a tipping option. They don't, but that's what we're saying. Like, it's starting to be in regular fast food restaurants. Why? That's the point, Judge. You're absolutely right.
Starting point is 00:41:04 And that's why a lot of people say that they're fed up because they can't go in and just get something. They're feeling pressured at that moment. Not only because the cashier is looking you in your face, like, you know, what you're about to do. And so they're just saying that, it's just becoming a lot. But on the flip side, that pullback is starting to hit workers who rely on those tips because, you know, a lot of people just aren't tipping anymore because they feel that they are
Starting point is 00:41:26 being forced to do so. I tell you, once again, though, those people remember that. And it's like it'd be those times when you walk in and they already know what you want. They'll connect with you first, let you cut the line. It'll be little. Them tips go a long way when you frequent places a lot. That's a good point, too. All right, y'all.
Starting point is 00:41:44 Well, that's your front page news. I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown TV. For more stories. Follow the Black Information Network. Thank you, Mimi. Thank you. All right.
Starting point is 00:41:53 Now, when we come back, comedian Donnell Rawlins will be joining us. We'll kick it with him next. Don't go anywhere. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Just hilarious. Shalameen, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Long on the Roses here as well. Yep. We got a special guest in the building. And he's late. And what's crazy is he smelled like so much weed.
Starting point is 00:42:11 So I know the only reason he was late. The only reason he was like. The only reason he was. Because he was down since probably smoking. Not saying about nobody in the room time. Can I say this? Okay? You know what?
Starting point is 00:42:20 Not about nobody in the room time just down there smoking weed. Can I say this? I want to say this. You're 100% absolutely right. You have snitch culture in you. You wouldn't do that to any of the white shows. Yes, I do. No, you wouldn't.
Starting point is 00:42:32 We're not going to, you're not going to race. He just did TV and I bet you wasn't late for them. You're not going to race baby. I like your hoodie. Thank you. I love it as well. It's really nice. It's got Mohammed Ali as a butterfly.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Listen, first of all, don't come. You got one for me? Don't say you got one for me, son. I couldn't wait for you to get. If you got one from me, I apologize for coming at. Thank you, Donnell. Yes, hurry and Tommy. He gave you to get it.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Yeah. Well, Donnell is performing at a city winery. Oh, that's as HBCU, man. On the 24th and 25th at City Winery. There's still tickets available. Of course there's still tickets available. Gary Owens sold out immediately. He didn't happen to come up in a big of money.
Starting point is 00:43:12 I'm supposed that ticket still available. Um, why would you buy tickets to C. Dine L.Roy. What is Ryan? I'm here for that. Gary Owens. Why would anybody buy tickets to C.
Starting point is 00:43:23 Yo. Yo. Yo. Why was you late? Congratulations, Gary Owens. You're doing a great job. You're a funny. You're a funny guy.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Oh, I forgot Gary came up talking crazy about you. You know the shit about me? Yes. But listen. He's doing great. Gary, congratulations on your wedding. You're doing great. Why do you think Gary talked crazy about you?
Starting point is 00:43:41 Da, da, da, da, da. Why do you have that effect on other comedians? You know why I think so? You know why I think he was talking about me? Why? Because you called me and said, Gary was talking about me. You did.
Starting point is 00:43:51 You texted me. What? You said, this is what you said. What's up with you and Gary? First of all, how can I have a tone and a text? I wouldn't have with you and guys. How would you make that from a text?
Starting point is 00:44:04 You know why? Because I know you and I know you're a smart ass. You're full of shit. You're an ass. So whenever you text me, it's with an ass. tool. Well, if I did do that, can I say what you replied back? What do you say? Can I say what you say? Can I say what you say? Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:44:19 Remember when Keras once said, I keep a dish record for any rapper? Of course. Just in case. That's Donnell with other comedians. So as soon as I text him and said, yo, why Gary was up here talking crazy about you, son? What do you say? What do you say? What do you reply with? He sent me out. This fucking sent me up. Let me tell you stories, sir. This shit sent me up. Yo, I went crazy, son.
Starting point is 00:44:52 He sent me the little clip. But you should have known. I should know what? This shit played with you all the time. Yeah, anytime you say it. I don't know, for some reason, it felt sincere this time, right? Yeah, because he set the clip. So listen, the f***ing is the clip, right?
Starting point is 00:45:07 And the clip just, this clip just says, his Gary Owen said, f*** down there wrong. And I was like, Fuck that, too! Right. I was going to
Starting point is 00:45:15 I didn't know it went off, so I ain't gonna lie. I slid it Gary Diem. He said it. He said, I slitted this deal. What did you say? I said,
Starting point is 00:45:24 I don't know what I said. I said, I said something like, yeah, I think I said, damn, I got to go. You can open the DM. Open the DMs,
Starting point is 00:45:33 all I know. All I know is Gary. First off, go on the phone to me. You are. What's wrong that? We all old. Well, first of all,
Starting point is 00:45:40 this is what Charlemaine sent him. garbage very high rating about Donnell's garbage his whole career is garbage no nothing without Dave Chappelle hey we're at Dave Chappelle necklace on your show where's the R oh oh oh oh oh I ain't even said all that I ended it after he ain't nothing with Dave's not without Dave Chappelle yeah so so then Donnell slid into Garyo with the DMs I didn't slide it to him by the damn did a preemptive strike on the timeline Correct your
Starting point is 00:46:12 Let me say this I did not slide into you did slide I would wait to any of the baby you were to do the slide He said
Starting point is 00:46:19 The first message was at 1.408 p. Dundell said You ain't got to do the times No because it's two He said one day comedians will go on platforms to be funny
Starting point is 00:46:26 And not talk about other comedians You are a very successful comedian And have found your lane and fan base I guess that's not enough Wish you the best
Starting point is 00:46:34 You've been invited to multiple cookouts But please don't bring your potato salad Right Did he respond? No. He didn't respond.
Starting point is 00:46:42 He didn't respond yet. He didn't respond right to. Can I say this? Hit him again. What do you say? What do you say? I want to commentate. What do you say?
Starting point is 00:46:53 What I'm saying is? Your mic is right here. Why you put your microphone? Sit your ass with it. Why he has a small spot like that, man. What I'm talking about it? What I'm trying to say is, and the tone of that text you can see I'm working on my mental health.
Starting point is 00:47:11 No, you're not. This is the way that text. it don't really sound like me. Yeah. It sounds like somebody hostage to me. He's a hostage. He's not true. And say something nice about this.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Donnell said to me, Donnell said, he's a hack. He's a honky. He's a hunky. He's a hunky. He's a hunky hack. No, you got it. I did not call him a huggy.
Starting point is 00:47:32 So Gary didn't respond him right? So Gary didn't respond right at 148 p.m. So that guy wrote him again at 419 p.m. Damn. If you ever feel the need to talk shit, about me or have an issue with me, you can always pick up the phone and he send his number. He said, I was man enough to call you and not call you out. I know it's easy to create click bait, then talk me and the man.
Starting point is 00:47:52 Also, if you have time, you can Google me. Check a resume before and after Chappelle. I'm sure this will be a screenshot and the topic for your next podcast, have fun. And what time was that? Wait, wait, wait, don't let that burn that. Okay, so, so let me tell you. Let me tell you know what Donnell is a man. Listen, listen, give people time to say, damn, that was deep.
Starting point is 00:48:10 No, because hit them things. What time with that thing? That was 419. Damn, that was deep. The first one was 1.48 p.m. Gary texted me at 204 p.m. and said, you must have told Donnell because he's already commenting on my page.
Starting point is 00:48:24 Donnell, you was commenting on his page. He answered them to them damn at the same time. I had to pull up on the shit. You need to go back to your therapist because that's a lot. It's not. It said he was garbage. So, yeah. Y'all, this would.
Starting point is 00:48:36 Okay, let me say. You called him a honky hack. No, no, no, no. This is what y'all don't understand. As a comedian. Like, every. Every situation got a word, like the N-word, the F-word or whatever. For comedy, the C-word is the worst word you can say.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Chappelle? No, yo. What is the word? No, no, don't come back, yo, please. C-word. Corny? Yeah. Cony is a bad word.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Corny is a bad word. Corny. Because corny dismissed everything you did, everything you put into it. And not to be funny. Corny is a very, very, very. It's fighting. He called you He called you
Starting point is 00:49:15 garbage Yeah Yeah And you know what's that Corny I'll just put it I'll just say it like this And this is most
Starting point is 00:49:22 honest thing I could say And this is when you identify yourself As a hater to me And I don't care Would nobody say Any that ever
Starting point is 00:49:30 Says that I'm trash Or I'm corny on stage Has identified himself As 100% a hater Or I probably This girl or something That's like
Starting point is 00:49:41 I don't I can't You I just can't say that though, Don't know. And when you see me before, what happened? I be saying, Don't know, I be saying, what do I do? But comedy is subject. What was that?
Starting point is 00:49:53 What was that? I'm trying to get you attention, sir. Because I'm trying to speak your language. Your brother talked you like, Hey, yo, stop. Yo, brother, I'm sick of him. Yo. I'm speaking E.
Starting point is 00:50:07 E.J. This is how E.J. You, E.J. Be like. Yo, E.J. be like, cheese for the morning. Yo, E.J. got so many bags. He bring him out at a certain time of the day.
Starting point is 00:50:23 He put one back in the L. He was out bitch and bitches. Yo, E.J. He's eating and leaving no crumbs. Oh, God. No, that's right, don't out. Okay. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Yo, EJ, EJ, be like, I don't need to give a fuck about bags. It made me want to buy some bags. You know, that's like this. If you like this, she's for lunch. He'll be like this. She'll be like, he'll be like, somebody will be like. That's how you is.
Starting point is 00:51:03 They will be like, they will be like, man. She's for the morning. She's for the morning. Yeah. like if you're wanting don't play or E.J. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:51:18 They'd be certain. So just because you ain't everybody cup of tea, that's okay, Donnell. That don't mean you're not funny. That's a different term. You are funny.
Starting point is 00:51:24 That's a different term. You all funny. Now, you know what? You hear what you said? And listen to how you were, you're learning to be a better communicator with me. You said,
Starting point is 00:51:31 not your cup of tea. That's different from saying trash. Not your cup of tea is a better way of communicating. And I don't know if you noticed through my text lately. I've been working on myself. I can tell you been going to therapy.
Starting point is 00:51:41 Yes. I'm trying to heal. Yeah. And this is the most important thing that my therapist said to me, he said, Donnell, react however you want to react. But be authentic. Be your true authentic self. And that resonated with me. And I'll tell you why I resonated with me.
Starting point is 00:52:02 Because some years ago, don't you like me talk? I'm talking. I do. I love it. Go. Won't you be quiet and listen. I am. You know I'm going to forget what I was saying.
Starting point is 00:52:11 a couple years ago. A couple of years ago. You went to therapy. You went to therapy. Be your authentic self. He forgot. Oh. So, six years ago,
Starting point is 00:52:20 I had beef with somebody. I know y'all said, that's every year. It was a rapper or whatever. I don't need to bring it up. You had beef with? A rapper? I never heard of that.
Starting point is 00:52:28 I don't remember Donald Ronald's having no beef with no rap. Who got? Who got me for? Let me tell a story, please. I'm sorry, go. Okay, I'm sorry. Sorry. Sometimes you'd be having people in your head.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Please. Just. Yes. And I called you. I said, don't let this happen to me. I know, but I can't. These, they're bullying me. They're animals.
Starting point is 00:52:45 We had a whole conversation. I said, don't let these people distract me. They, I back, back to it. You have beef with a rapper. Right. And then what I wanted to say was, and I. Celebrate your pride with the station that's as bold, vibrant, and diverse as you are. I heart pride, Kinda.

Starting point is 00:54:41 You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. And rule two, Never mess with her friends either. We always say that, trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck.
Starting point is 00:55:04 I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care, so they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed. I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe.
Starting point is 00:55:22 On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, everyone? I'm Ego Wodom. My next guest, you know from Stepbrothers, Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network. It's Will Ferrell.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Woo, woo, woo, woo, woo. My dad gave me the best advice ever. I went and had lunch with the one day and I was like, and dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through and I know it's a place they come look for up and coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it
Starting point is 00:56:14 doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Listen to thanks dad on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your
Starting point is 00:56:36 podcast. I made a response video, right? Got my n-a-gat-me-up of a shit. How did it respond video? together. We were responding to what you from. We had this shit. You know.
Starting point is 00:56:48 We'd be responding with videos. Yeah. My man produced this. Right. Right. So, and then when they said,
Starting point is 00:56:56 R.A.D., go. And that's just, this is what I said. This is the first thing in my mom. I said, you, keep my name
Starting point is 00:57:01 out your mouth. Ficked out. And that's not my authentic and toe. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. You don't have to get
Starting point is 00:57:07 that vulgar. You don't got to get that vulgar. But you know what I do. This is how I respond to it. You called you. You always a honky hat. that is you. I said
Starting point is 00:57:13 a hack of a honky something. I said black culture has been good to Gary. That's what I said. Yeah. No, your translation could be whatever you're telling you. What I'm not going to do
Starting point is 00:57:23 and I promise myself, I'm not going to get into a debate with you with no purpose and no reason. Yeah, you have to ignore. I'm not fucking with you. What would our relationship be if we didn't have debates
Starting point is 00:57:35 with no purpose and no reason? Jesus. I listen to you, Vint Donnell. I listen to you, I pick up the phone and then he laughs. And then he laughs. And then he laughs at you.
Starting point is 00:57:47 I googled. He don't have any beef. He laughed with me. This is sinister. He hasn't been with no rapper. I saw you, the Nicki Minaj fans hurt your feelings. What rapper are you talking about? Ain't nobody hurt my feelings.
Starting point is 00:57:59 The barbs. Ain't nobody hurt my feelings. Yes, they did. They did. You told me that they hurt your feelings, man. I told, ah. I did not say they hurt my feelings. You told me.
Starting point is 00:58:11 that you thought they was calling you gay because of the unicorn emoji. And I had to explain you. I said the barbs is not to be f***ed with. That's what I said. Yes. I said the barbs are not to be f***ed with, right? Because they got mad me. You know why they got mad at me?
Starting point is 00:58:22 Why? I was on one shit at the show, the late night show. And they had Nicky Minaj and Cardi B. And I said the problem Nicky Minaj got McCarty B is Cardi B taking a shine. And the bar bitches, who if they went crazy. They was on my page for like two weeks. And they started putting unicorns on my shit. They be hitting you with unicorns.
Starting point is 00:58:40 Yep. And bull's eyes I'm like, get these so I didn't have a problem with them but what I noticed that they calmed down for a while and then they Is that the rap? You thought you had beef with? I know I had beef with. I don't think it's important
Starting point is 00:58:53 to say that in there. It was missing. When I say no, I mean no. It's not a woman. I see something when you were here you were talking about Kanye saying you don't have no friends. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:59:01 Kanye didn't say that you got no friends even. Yeah. No, he got friends but he'll be friends. That's crazy. That's crazy. Cahey said I had no friends. You, listen, this is all I see.
Starting point is 00:59:19 I can't listen to it. You believe everything you see on the internet? I'm just asking you. She does. She actually does. What's up with this tweet? You said, I haven't crashed out in a minute, thanks to my therapist. I still think I need time to heal.
Starting point is 00:59:31 Breakfast Club trauma is real. I speak with the hair I say. You know what that means? You know what it means? You ain't got to keep talking. I can tell you exactly what the fucking me. What is me? It's called Breakfast Club trauma
Starting point is 00:59:42 When you come up here And something happens that you don't expect And you got to think about it for a very long time Yeah And y'all create trauma That's not true It is why you come back? I know no matter what it hurts you
Starting point is 00:59:52 And it follows you wherever you go So why you keep coming back It's not for you It's for the people It's for these people right here Because they really love It's for the people It's for the people
Starting point is 01:00:00 It's for the people You know what's for? No you want to know No no Let me have opportunity to say What I want to say I'm not going to answer you a question It is...
Starting point is 01:00:10 Yes, you will. You can't help it. The question I'm going to ask you, you can't help but answer it. Ask. You can't help but answer it. Dave Chappelle recently said that he might be interested in bringing back the Chappelle show. What does Donnell Rawlings, a pillar of that show, think about that, a brick in the foundation of that show. Think about that.
Starting point is 01:00:31 Because I actually feel like he cannot bring it back unless he got the whole crew, including you and Neil Brennan. I think it's a good. and a bad idea and the same idea. Elaborate? The good of it, let me say it. I told you he was going to answer it. The good of it, in the most comedically intellectual way, I could say. The good of it is that the show is very nostalgic.
Starting point is 01:00:52 For whatever anybody wants to say about it. And then for people to always talk about me and just hold my career to only be in the Chappelle show, 33 years in this business, that was two years of my life. But in those two years, something happened that just made history. Something happened. You've had shows come on before that show, something just the time period,
Starting point is 01:01:12 the way people connected with it, how people used to go home to watch it, it just hit the culture. And as much as the thing I'm riding the wave and the dick of Dave and Ashley, whatever, I can't get away with making history. I can't run from it. And the reason why you have other people
Starting point is 01:01:28 that on the show, it doesn't imply them that much because they weren't as much of a role on the show as like me, Charlie, and Dave was. And Neil. And Neil. 100%. Yeah, 100%. So.
Starting point is 01:01:38 like people, I've said this before, people think I'm supposed to get mad of the history I created. Like, what we did is what I want to do. I haven't stopped doing anything since then. That was history. And if you make history, sometimes it's not a good idea to temper with it. Why do you think the Chappelle Show reboot is a bad idea?
Starting point is 01:01:57 The bad idea is that people would be so critical of the effort that you're going to lose. I don't know if people understand that. because it's some people that, yeah, I want to see it. There's people like, there's no way. Told you. That ain't. How are you going to do it with so-and-so?
Starting point is 01:02:14 Charlie's an idea. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It's a whole bunch of reasons why just leave it as it is. You know, but the thing for me, and I kind of understand what they were saying, I'm around him a lot, and it's like sometimes we'll have moments where we say, what if? Like, I'll hang out with him in this spot at the shack, and me, it'll just be me and him, right? And I remember one time I said, yo, D, if I wanted to do some skis, would you do it with me?
Starting point is 01:02:36 I was like, what are you? What are you smoking? What I'm doing with him? Hell yeah. Let's go. Let me finish. You have to let him finish. And the reason why, this is the part that I can appreciate it.
Starting point is 01:02:47 Like for the last three years, I'm doing the election or something to do with politics. Dave goes on the show, right? Because he's like the voice of whatever's going on in that time. And just the little cameos that we do and the way people respond to it, I'm like, damn, what if? Because we did. S&L. S&L. You know, like, now in no competition.
Starting point is 01:03:06 Like, my honest opinion, I can't see if even the thought of it coming back, I couldn't see it as every week you're going to tune into it. It's too much work. You know what I mean? It's too much work to produce a show with 16 hours a day. And then you got this and make money anytime he wants. So the idea. Yeah, but what I'm saying, well, clearly, you know, but. How long did it take y'all to the ones either?
Starting point is 01:03:30 We probably did it in three months. Oh, okay. It's a lot of time. But it's not just that. It's not like a comedy show. just pop up and it's over it's not that you got to invest into the performance the writing the editing it's a whole bunch of
Starting point is 01:03:41 makeups all in it is that's why I don't think it would be a good idea to do a series now if a car is a movie what about this I think now me not speaking on behalf of day but where I can see you've always said that though I've always heard you've always said you would like for y'all to do a Chappelle's a movie yeah I mean I've always heard you say that
Starting point is 01:04:00 oh one I like a one off just something that says this is it you know I mean, like, this is it. And I'm ending it on my terms or whatever, because as successful as that show was, Dave really never got a chance to say goodbye to his
Starting point is 01:04:16 own show. You know what I'm saying? It was just like, and then everybody know how that worked out. Dave went away for a while he came back, and he pulled a move that just can't do. This is why these when they be talking about, why is he to go? And they'd be saying, it's not my
Starting point is 01:04:31 type of funny. And they'd be like, well, now he's so political awake. I'm like this just, he did it. Yeah. What do you think about
Starting point is 01:04:41 Eddie Murphy when he said that he wants Eddie Murphy to do the Charlie Murphy parts? What do you
Starting point is 01:04:47 think about that? I don't what I tell you now that that sounds like a dream because I don't know that would happen and we're not
Starting point is 01:04:58 going to put that on here. Well, he said Eddie bought it up. He said Eddie is the one who told him. That's what he said. Yeah, you didn't hear you see it?
Starting point is 01:05:05 He said, Eddie told him, yo, you should do a Chappelle's show movie or something. And so then Dave said, Dave said on the stage, he said, hey, yo, if I do that, you got to do the Charlie Murphy Park. He's not lying. He really said that to him. Yeah. He said that. He said it. No, the reason why I asked that because I know that story and I was supposed to say nothing. He said it probably already. That's what I'm trying to say. I didn't see the same.
Starting point is 01:05:27 That's what I'm saying. Can I ask you this? Now, now. What would that look like, though? No, now. Would it be Eddie? I don't know what that. or just Eddie doing his own true Hollywood story?
Starting point is 01:05:36 I don't know, but that would be amazing. No, I'm telling you the truth. I heard all of this stuff before. Why are you asking me questions? I want you to say it about me? I'm saying how I want to answer the question. I'm trying to get you some credit. You can't just tell me how to answer questions.
Starting point is 01:05:48 You are. I don't need no credit. Calm down. And you're going to stop acting out. I didn't come here. I didn't come here to what? You didn't come here to what? Get some love.
Starting point is 01:05:57 To get some flowers. Jess. He can't even handle it. He can't even handle it. He can't even handle it. I didn't come here to argue. Goddell Rollins, Neil Brennan, Charlie Murphy, are very instrumental in Chappelle's show success.
Starting point is 01:06:09 Those four created the Chappelle show. A lot of those great ideas, a lot of these ideas that you're hearing about now. You know, another thing I created, I just want to say this, I created Donnell Lamb, but go ahead. Yes, you did. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:06:20 What did you say, Del? Everything I just said. Yes, it was part of culture. Yeah. Yes, the dynamic duo or the dreamt. What would Eddie look like on the show? I mean, Eddie would look like Eddie. I think it would be,
Starting point is 01:06:32 for Eddie got so his chops is so nice that's why we just that's why that's better just know what your problem is he can't even handle any type of love you don't even give him time thank you what he don't give me
Starting point is 01:06:46 he doesn't give you time no time let me tell you something time to what time to do whatever I want to do with it well just do it now I'm finished ain't anybody even talk to you
Starting point is 01:06:55 well first of all I'm trying to get you to get you to talk to you I was happy with you I've been quiet see this is good problem of my behalf of it. And Dr. Umar be getting mad at me about this. What? I just gave you a whole
Starting point is 01:07:08 HBC sweater. HBCU. HBCU, because I knew HBCU bitch, right? Wow. No, man, I'm just I'm sorry. I'm like, in the most positive sorority way you can say it.
Starting point is 01:07:25 I meant you in a trick daddy. I meant you in a trick daddy way. Ladies and gentlemen, Donnell Land Memorial Day weekend. Okay. I'm going to sell it. This is what it is. Donnell land bridges the gap between the young and the old to make memories for a lifetime.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Go to Donnell Rawlins.com for more information. Period. Period. All right. Ladies and gentlemen, Donnell Rawley. 424, 425. He is at the citywiner. That's right.
Starting point is 01:07:58 Evie. Evie. Evie. What? Get you. No, no. Charlotte Bay. You get a, you get her, you get her, and you get a,
Starting point is 01:08:10 breakfast club, good morning. Let's get to the latest with Lauren. Let your talk, LL, cool, babe. Yeah, I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself. That source is trusted. I'm the home guy that knows a little bit about everything and everything. The little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you.
Starting point is 01:08:29 Take me through that, take me through that. Where is you going? with Lauren Lose. On the breakfast club. L.L. Coole, Coobe. Talk to me. All right y'all. So this is our
Starting point is 01:08:41 we're going to get into white people's business a little bit. So Coachella went down over the last two weekends, as you guys know. And a part of Coachella, of course, is all the costuming and the big surprises.
Starting point is 01:08:52 So Madonna was there. She was a surprise guest. And there were some issues. It says she sounded horrible, too. Damn. It was supposed to be like her big return back to the big stages and all the things.
Starting point is 01:09:02 But I mean, look, if that's what you saw. That's what I heard. That's what you're. I can. Imagine you return and you a mess. Oh, my God. Well, the real, not the real, but the other conversation that came out of Madonna, you know, being at Coachella was the fact that there were some pieces, some clothing and some jewelry that
Starting point is 01:09:16 were stolen. Now, Madonna is saying, and she posted to her Instagram saying this, that these pieces of clothing are not just clothes and jewelry. These are like archive costume pieces that she's used, you know, that she performed in. You know, when she performed on the stage with Sabrina Carpenter, I guess, things were left in like a cart that was there near the stage with her team and things were taken from there. So she posted and said, I'm hoping and praying that some kind soul will find these items and
Starting point is 01:09:41 reach out to my team. She says that she's offering a reward for their safe return. They're particularly special to the singer because she wore the same boots corset jacket during her Coachella performance 20 years ago. This was her big return back to the stage. Yeah, so it was a full circle moment. It means a lot, but now she has some things missing. And I did see some reports that cops don't believe that she was like targeted, that
Starting point is 01:10:01 they think people just picked something up. from the festival grounds, but she did file a police report, I'm assuming, because she would have to, you know, do insurances and things of that nature. So there's that. And then also, Coachella was fined. We talked about Justin Bieber set. They were fined $44,000 for Justin Bieber and another artist's set
Starting point is 01:10:18 because they went over a few minutes. Oh, damn. Yeah, don't play that. No, I mean, just something quick, though. But yeah. In other news, America Idol. So American Idol, they are doing something a bit different. They are asking, for Taylor Swift fans to come to the front.
Starting point is 01:10:35 So they have their final contestants who would be participating and the rules around the challenge they'll be doing is that they have to sing all Taylor Swift songs. So they're doing a Taylor Swift night for American Idol. Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 01:10:50 And I know that y'all are not the biggest Swifty, so I don't know how much y'all. I love the song. I love Baby. Baby, baby. That's Justin Bieber. You big, dumb ass. That's not.
Starting point is 01:10:59 You're big, babe, dumb ass. That's what happens when you get on Netflix and you try to relate to white people for no goddamn reason instead of just being yourself. Yeah. That's your dance song. That's the Bipi!
Starting point is 01:11:08 For my helmet doing. A Bipi. A the Pippi. Bipi. Yeah, V, that was probably worse than me trying to name all the members of Lunez. I mean, that was just so dumb for no reason. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:19 I don't know why you can't be their self. Why? Why you can't be, you want to be relatable? Who are you being relatable to? You're related to you? That's why I was trying to be relatable. Hey, yo.
Starting point is 01:11:30 Okay. Oh, all right. That's crazy. No, go with what happened. Yeah, so basically what is going to go down is they have the top seven consistents. They'll choose an actual Taylor Swift song. Nikki Glazier will be the judge who is a Swifty.
Starting point is 01:11:41 And it will be the first night entirely dedicated to Taylor Swift's music of the show's 24 season. So, yeah, people are celebrating that. And I know she's like planning her wedding right now. And, you know, I saw that they were out in her and her boot thing, Travis Kelsey, we're out in New York. So, yeah, it's just a celebration of Taylor Swift. That's a lot of white people news. Yeah, y'all don't even care what we're.
Starting point is 01:12:01 They literally never done that, you know, so cool. Yes. That's really nice. Now, another small update, shifting gears, not white people news, are bringing it back to us. So we talked a bit about Ice Spice. I know Charlemagne gave Viya, Baya, how are you saying, her name, Don't Kid. Listen, when you say bringing it back doesn't, then you say Ice Spice.
Starting point is 01:12:20 What is Ice Spice exactly correct me? Isn't Ice Spice black? She's mixed with Black, right? I have no idea. What is, I thought, I said it so confidently. I'm just asking. I thought so, but. She looks a little miscellaneous.
Starting point is 01:12:31 Her mom is, I think she's, I'm about to look at it out. I think she's Latino. I think she's Latino. Don't look miscellaneous in the face? Yeah, a little bit now that she's saying. Yeah. Now you got me looking it up. Yeah, she is mixed.
Starting point is 01:12:44 So she is, she is black. Her dad is black and her mom is Dominican. So, okay. I guess you're to the room because we're black and Indian. I am not Dominican. I am black. I'm not talking people at too. I'm pissed off.
Starting point is 01:12:55 She's black and different black. This woman came up to me this weekend when I was out of time and she was like, hey, hey, Envy's really Dominican. yes he is stop man I don't know why why don't claim why would you say that why would you even agree
Starting point is 01:13:05 stop man because people believe them yes it's not hard to believe though what you were saying about any people what I was saying was so you know how
Starting point is 01:13:14 her attorney Bradford Cohen who I've been calling all week hi please there's the phone he gave a statement to TMZ when the story first broke and he said that they had planned or that they had actually
Starting point is 01:13:23 already reported this to LAPD and that they planned to take this to the furthest legal extent because she was assaulted by a woman in the McDonald's right
Starting point is 01:13:30 so I've been reached out to LAPD trying to figure out, okay, what will the charges be? Yesterday I talked to someone, a spokesperson for LAPD, who said that they don't have any report. They weren't originally called to the scene, and there's been no report filed that they have as of now. So I am going to just
Starting point is 01:13:45 stay updated there because basically you can't file in charges if there's no report of anything right now. So just that little basically that wasn't true. So her friend didn't even call the police. So her friend didn't fight and she didn't call the police? The spokesperson for LAPD that I talked to yesterday said they were never called to the scene.
Starting point is 01:14:01 But, yeah. So that's the update that I have. And that's it for the latest. Well, who won the second fight? Remember? Oh, when Ice Spice went back out? I mean, I don't know if there was a true winner, but Ice Spice was definitely out there. She was trying to have her fair one.
Starting point is 01:14:14 There was a guy that jumped in. I don't know if that matter. And the friend was trying to help. No, it matters to me because I wanted to know. Like, I didn't know it was a second fight until it was, it came about yesterday. Well, the first one wasn't even really a fight. She didn't really get a chance to, you know, defend herself. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:28 Yeah. Okay. Hopefully she dragged her. All right. All right. All right. Last the latest will be so mad if my friend didn't fight and she didn't go to the police. She tried, though.
Starting point is 01:14:36 That just wasn't the front for that. She tried to break it up. They tried to jump my eyes west outside of McDonald's. She tried to break it up. Charlemagne, who you give me your donkey to? Well, there's a web of sperm. We have to untangle. A web of what?
Starting point is 01:14:45 We need a woman named Olivia Clintoninan to come to the front of the congregation. We would like to have a word with her. You heard what I said, God damn it. Don't make me repeat myself. All right. We'll get to it next. It's the breakfast slow. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:15:00 These donkeys Donkies A bunch of For the donkey All the day That's pretty fun Cholamine the devil Possible
Starting point is 01:15:11 The Breakfast Club Don't get a day For Tuesday April 21st Go to an Ohio woman named Olivia Clendinan Now Olivia was just sentenced
Starting point is 01:15:22 To serve Between 16 and 20 years in prison After she was found guilty of attempted murder Two counts of felonious Assault And one count
Starting point is 01:15:28 of illegal discharge At or into a habitation Basically, she was busting her gun. Okay, where and why was she busting her gun? Well, let's go to Fox 19 now for the report, please. What happened that day didn't just end when the incident was over is has stayed with me. Daniel Johnson speaking today in front of the court, loved ones, and the woman who shot him on January 1st, 2025. Olivia Clendonan sentenced to 16 to 20 years in prison Thursday for attempted murder.
Starting point is 01:15:55 Johnson and innocent bystandard sustained severe injuries after being hit in the stomach and almost died. Clintonon opened fire on a New Year's party after finding her husband and boyfriend were there together. She has not shown one bit of remorse or concern for the man she shot instead of the ones that she wanted to shoot. Prosecutors echoing the same remarks as well, playing a phone call between Clinton and her mother from jail. I mean, you're running a young girl's life. How could you not be upset? You're ruining a young girl's life. How could you not be upset? That's her reaction. to the verdict. Olivia has not shown any level of respect to myself or my family.
Starting point is 01:16:36 I have not received an apology in any form or fashion. Where is Peter Guns when you need him? Okay? This is something I would expect to see on an episode of Cheaters. You, Olivia, you got caught cheating. Your husband and your boyfriend are at the same party together shortly after they both learned earlier that evening that you were a family pack, that you were community property, that they were sharing you like two friends.
Starting point is 01:17:00 sharing a joint yesterday on 420. It's got to be a terrible feeling. To realize that as a husband, you are the main account holder, but your wife's vagina has an extra member feature. Well, for whatever reason, Olivia decided to act like she was the victim. She decided to act like somebody did something wrong to her. You just heard the news reports, according to prosecutors. Olivia was in communication with both of the men on the evening of the incident,
Starting point is 01:17:25 and then she allegedly went to the party and fired eight rounds with a 40-caliber hand. gun. I cannot stand when a person does you wrong. When a person is caught red-handed doing something foul to you and then they act like they're the victim. All of a sudden they want to play crazy because they got caught. They want to deny. They want
Starting point is 01:17:44 to attack. They want to reverse the roles of victim and offender. All to deflect accountability and cause confusion. Okay. Dramatic outbursts, which this was. A violent dramatic outburst. Intense rage. All to shift focus away from her action.
Starting point is 01:18:00 Meanwhile, a poor innocent bystander named Daniel Johnson was shot in the abdomen. Okay, while he was just sitting on the front porch at the party. 29 years old, minding his business. Okay, he wasn't Olivia's boyfriend. He wasn't Olivia's husband. He ain't even hitting. He got hit. That man, Daniel says he is still impacted by the shooting and suffers from chronic pain.
Starting point is 01:18:21 I got to read his quote, man. Listen to what he said. You heard him just talking about it. He said, I had been invited over and was sitting on the porch, minding my business. The defendant was attempting to shoot at. someone else and I was the one who ended up getting shot. In that moment, my life changed for reasons that have nothing to do with me. Poor Daniel was a victim of Olivia's narcissistic rage.
Starting point is 01:18:43 Yes, when the narcissistic image is threatened, they respond with intense rage. Tantrums are irrational, erratic behavior to try to gain control. And this poor man didn't have nothing to do with it. Okay, this man had nothing to do with our sexually. I mean, he never penetrated. No sloppy topy. How are you going to shoot me and I never got none of that yum, yum, gum, gum, okay? I never received an Australian kiss and I got shot.
Starting point is 01:19:07 All because this woman, Olivia, created a chaotic environment just to force to focus onto the drama rather than her nefarious actions. Okay. Well, Olivia, you're going to spend the next 16 to 20 in prison. I'm shocked you didn't get more, okay? All because you just couldn't be a G about the fact you wanted to be with more than one person, okay? You are a variety-seeking woman, and instead of being honest about that with your husband, you decided to lie and be deceitful.
Starting point is 01:19:36 And oh, what an entangled sperm web we weave when we practice to deceive. Listen, it is wrong and a moral to seek to escape the consequences of one's actions. You did this to yourself. Now, Jess, I'm sure you've been in a situation like this. Before, how would you have handled it? What are you talking about?
Starting point is 01:19:53 You sure I've been in a relationship like this? I mean, a situation. Like, you know, just having a boyfriend and then maybe being with somebody else and then getting caught? Okay. How would you have handled it? I definitely wouldn't shoot nobody.
Starting point is 01:20:03 Oh, I'm just asking. I wouldn't. No. I would get out of there and go to the third nigga. Oh, my goodness. Please give Olivia Clinton the biggest he-ha. You want a yeast infection so bad. No, I don't.
Starting point is 01:20:19 Like, no. First of all, if your husband and your... What? No. First of all, if you effing more than one person, you have to use condoms. Like, why y'all still? I'm not going to, if I go on a party and I see my husband and my boyfriend,
Starting point is 01:20:37 which I'm not, she's not my husband and my boyfriend, it's other parties to go to. And what's your crazier? She knew that they were there because she was communicating. So she went there bringing the smoke. Wow. That's wild. She probably thought they was probably doing something to gaver. 16 to 20.
Starting point is 01:20:54 You know what an Australian kiss is, right? No, what is an Australian kiss? He did say that, but what is an Australian kiss? It's a French kiss down under. You know what? That is true what you said. This generation, you just never know. You never know.
Starting point is 01:21:06 Her husband and her boyfriend could have been very much enjoying each other. Her husband might have been like, let me see what it's all about. She's out here creeping with you taking these chances. Let me see what's up. And she probably was the reason for the gun. First of all, what?
Starting point is 01:21:20 I'm letting off. Chitty, chitty, bang, bang. Because I didn't know that child were trying to bang bang. No, no, no, no, no, no. That's still not a justification. I'm just saying that what you said makes sense in this era.
Starting point is 01:21:30 We were having that conversation a little while ago because, you know, I had called some people dumb and then Envy said, and they don't like girls. But I don't know what that had to do with anything,
Starting point is 01:21:39 but I understood what you was trying to say. I knew what I meant. Yeah, I know what you meant. Yeah. All right. Thank you for that don't get it. They weren't dumb because they don't like girls. I called them dumb for something else.
Starting point is 01:21:48 Right. And then I just said that they don't like girls. The question that they presented. Correct. Well, okay. Now we got to tell me the question. I was going to say, I feel like we have to tell me.
Starting point is 01:21:57 I wanted to do another talk. but now we've got to tell him the question. And you got the Chris Brown instrumental playing so it makes... Exactly. So our producer Art walked in. That's right. Yes. And he showed us, I guess, something I was trending yesterday,
Starting point is 01:22:08 it was like, why are guys going to the Chris Brown concert? And I saw that meme come across my timeline and I scroll past it fast because that's stupid social media logic exists. Why are guys going to the Usher and Chris Brown concert? Because that's where all the women will be. That's how I think at a 47-year age, born in 1978. But then Envy, who was born in 1900, 77 said maybe they don't like girls.
Starting point is 01:22:33 And that made all a sense to me because of the generations. These days. Yes. I was like, you know what? He's right. See, I'm looking at it from the perspective of, of course I'm going to the Usher and Chris Brown concert. If I'm a guy, because that's where all the women are.
Starting point is 01:22:44 But then he was like, but this generation don't like girls. So to them, that's a logical question. As a man, why would you be going to Usher, Chris Brown concert? Number one, I can't like their music. Number two, there's going to be a lot of girls there. Number three. Maybe this generation has a whole other. Married men, you bring your kids.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Married men, you bring your wife, date night, you know, a smart thing to do. But it's also going to be a lot of dudes there too, looking for each other, period. What are you talking about? That didn't cross my mom. I'm saying, I'm further proving your point. A lot of guys don't like women these days, but that's where you're going to go to find both men and women. Well, let's open up the phone lines. All right, what's the question.
Starting point is 01:23:21 The question is what the name says. As a man. Why are you going to a Chris Brown and Usher Show? That is the question. 800-581. I need y'all to know. That is not my question. No.
Starting point is 01:23:30 Okay. I purpose, I understand why you would go. Because you would go because there's a lot of women there. That's what I think. But maybe there's other reasons. And you can be a, like you say, you can be a fan of their music. My husband loves both of those artists.
Starting point is 01:23:43 He wouldn't go by himself. But I'm just saying, he wouldn't go by itself, but he was a fan. If Chris went by something, they'd be asking him where to sit. If he went by itself. Wow. You know what? If Chris went by some. Mexican, Usher.
Starting point is 01:23:56 What are you talking about? I don't say that. What? Why wouldn't be a Mexican usher? Like that's when people sit there, seat. You know what? What's a Mexican usher? How do you say yeah in Spanish?
Starting point is 01:24:05 Come on. How you say yeah? See. See. See. See. See. See.
Starting point is 01:24:10 See. You know what? It's the breakfast club. Good morning. It's topic time. Call 850585151 to join in to the discussion with the breakfast club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ.
Starting point is 01:24:27 NV. Just hilarious. Salomey Naga. We are the breakfast. Club Naffey just joining us. We talk about a meme that was kind of went viral. That was all over social media the last couple of days. And the question was, as a man,
Starting point is 01:24:38 why are you going to the Chris Brown and Usher concert? Now, you know, I was born in 1978, so I saw that meme. And the first thing I thought was, I would be going to the Chris Brown and Usher concert if I was a man because I know all the women are going to be there. Yes. And to me, that was just logic, right?
Starting point is 01:24:53 But then, NVU bought up a good point. You said, well, a lot of this generation don't like girls. Correct. Right. And I see it all the time. When I DJ, I see guys dancing with each other, like guys being in a section with each other. In our generation.
Starting point is 01:25:06 But you're DJ in the gay parties, so that makes sense. I do not DJ any gay parties. I don't have a problem with it. That's what's our money, money, money. Because the gay got the money, honey. It don't matter. But what's the section in the gay club? Do you IPP?
Starting point is 01:25:17 Hey, yo. Table 69 is the one. But I would say that you would see, you know, guys and girls dancing together when I used to DJ. Now it's more split. You see girls in a section by themselves. Yes. And you see fellas in the section.
Starting point is 01:25:28 It's the weirdest thing, but it's the weirdest thing. It ain't got nothing to do with me. It is. It is. Why is it weird? Because it used to be intermingling. It used to be like the guys with the girls.
Starting point is 01:25:36 You know, and that was with gay people and straight people. Everybody just used to congregate together. Correct. Yeah. It's not weird. It's just different because you're used to seeing something else in a different era. Like people don't like to talk to each other. They don't like to dance with each other.
Starting point is 01:25:48 Yes. Everybody would be on their phones and little huddles. It's like, yo, y'all could have did this in the basement. Correct. So to me, like I said, to me, when I look at the meme, it was very cut and dry. Right. To me, I'm just like, yo, you go to the Usher Chris Brown concert because you know all the girls are going to be there as a man.
Starting point is 01:26:01 But it might be something different in this generation. But you could also be a fan of their music as a man. What do you mean? That's true. Yeah, but if I'm not going by myself. Like, I'm taking my wife. The main didn't say that, though. No, Sean, what are you doing on Friday?
Starting point is 01:26:12 Let's go see Usher. No, no. Not only are you taking your wife. If you're a fan of their music as a man, you might just be taking your boo. Yeah. Your boo might be another man. You know what I'm saying? That's right.
Starting point is 01:26:23 We're in a different area. You're taking your boo to go see Usher. and Chris Brown. Okay. But let's go to the phone lines. 800, 585, 105, 1. Who do you have on line? This is Mr. BMD, 2024.
Starting point is 01:26:36 How you feeling, DJ Envy? Just a larion. What's up, bro? Your name got too much going on, bro. Shut up. Mr. BMD. 2024? Mr. BMD, it's answer
Starting point is 01:26:46 for brother's making dollars, Charler, man. I got five books waiting for you, Charlemagne. I'm calling to say that. I'm from Baltimore, Jess. I got videos with me and you. But I'm calling to say that.
Starting point is 01:26:56 No, what? I'm going to do what? No, no, it's when she first started. Her little Rome. Heron Rome was in it. You feel, me? Oh, okay. Her little man had a little puppy,
Starting point is 01:27:07 Armand Dolman. Oh, yeah, yeah. That's what I appreciate. I said Chris Brown as a grown man, just for the one and, you know. And make sure that, yeah, everybody had fun, man. I said Chris Brown, we grew up off of that. Right, yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:23 That was a air, man. The music is jamming in all the ones. women going to be there. That's why I couldn't even understand why that dude was trying to shame people what that meme. As a man, what would you be going to an ushered Chris Brown show for? Because all the women are going to be there. That's crazy. Hello, who's this? Mills from Brooklyn. Mills. Hey, I do. Good morning. You know, we're talking about the... I actually got through. Talk to us. What's your thoughts, brother?
Starting point is 01:27:45 All right. First of all, I want to start up by saying, I'm a married man with four kids. My wife is going with me to the concert. Word. I go to every concert, so it's nothing wrong with it. But I got a question, though. What's the difference between us and men going to the concert and men going to watch basketball games? By ourselves or without wives? Regardless of the fact, yeah, I mean, you buy yourself or not. You see a game and watch your men and do it as young.
Starting point is 01:28:06 I can tell you why, because when they hear Usher and Chris Brown's music, they think love songs and romantic. And so they think we, they think for whatever reason, they think men don't have that side to them. Right. I'm 36 years old, us and Chris Brown and Trace Stone. They don't pave my way. You know what, though?
Starting point is 01:28:24 I mean, why not? You know what? You kind of right. I'm going to tell you why. Because when New Edition was performing in New Orleans, gear was with me, and I went. You mean, you was giving it up, singing every song. I did.
Starting point is 01:28:36 Clutching your pearls. I did. But it's new addition. They dance and they. Exactly. So I guess, yeah. If you like the music, you can go. That's right.
Starting point is 01:28:44 Yeah, you guys to say, like, why? It's not a big deal. It's not a big deal at all. You're right. When Chris Brown's in Madison Square, God, and in Connecticut last year, I went both times by myself. Okay.
Starting point is 01:28:56 Oh, that's what's up. Exactly. It's a vibe. It is. My wife helped me get my tickets. He helped me get my hotels. But she already knew. But the cost of it's gone up.
Starting point is 01:29:05 Your wife sent you by yourself? Yes. He's a fan. He's a Chris Brown fan. And he's saying if you can watch... I'm too old and say I'm a fan. You're a fan. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:15 You're a fan. You're a fan. You all want to go to basketball games and watch sweaty. Exactly. It's in the hole and fall all on each other and all that. I'm asking. You ask you a question and you know God watching you, but I also know black men don't cheat.
Starting point is 01:29:28 Did your side chick meet you down there? Oh my God, oh my God. I don't have no side chick. I've got to the side chick. I've been lying for too long for that. Exactly. You're a legend. You're a legend, my brother.
Starting point is 01:29:37 Can I ask you a question? Why your wife didn't go with you? She had the kids. He said why your wife didn't go with you to Connecticut? Yeah. She went to, she went to a public with me, but she don't like crowds and all up. I get it. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 01:29:49 All right. You don't like crowds? Mm-mm. That's not weird to y'all, that your wife sent you to the Usher concert? No, not if he wanted to go. By yourself? If he wanted to go, why can't he go by itself? Why?
Starting point is 01:29:59 That don't feel weird to nobody? No, they don't. It's a little unusual, but it's like it's not. Why don't you have to go? Like, I'm coming. Let's vote. She said she don't like crowds. She didn't want to go.
Starting point is 01:30:10 There's nothing wrong with doing things by yourself. There's people that go to movies by theirself. They go eat food by themselves. They go to contras by their self. What's wrong with that? I'm not going to concert by myself. By myself? Who am I talking to what I'm singing?
Starting point is 01:30:23 You're in there with a. 20,000 other people singing the same song, you dumbass. I'm sick of you this morning. Stop the same. Hey, yo. Yeah, would like, would I go see hold by myself? No, yes, yes. I definitely would.
Starting point is 01:30:33 Yes, I guess you would. No, not. Somebody got to come with me. Why? I don't know, just see the mix experience better. Did you like that song? Girl, I bet he about to do this. Like, you want to narrow.
Starting point is 01:30:43 You know what? Every 105. 185.10. Now, if you're just joining us, we're asking 800-585-105-1 as a man, they were asking, why are you going? going to the Chris Brown and Usher concert.
Starting point is 01:30:56 Myself, I mean, I'm taking my wife. I'm taking my daughters. I'm taking, you know, I'm taking my family because they want to see it. Yeah, whoever made that meme thought that they ate what that meme, but that meme is so corny. And the reason it's so corny because as soon as I saw that as a man, why would you be going to the Usher Chris Brown concert? Number one, I could like the music. Number two, that's where all the women are going to be at.
Starting point is 01:31:16 You know what I mean? But as you pointed out, NB, there's a lot of people in this generation who don't like women. Correct. So to them, that meme might make sense. Right. We have Sasha on the line. Sasha, good morning.
Starting point is 01:31:27 Good morning. How are you feeling, Sasha? I feel very well. How about yourself? I'm good. Now, did you see the meme? Well, you probably, I don't know if you've seen the meme or not.
Starting point is 01:31:35 And they were asking as a man, why would you go to a Chris Brown and Usher concert? What are your thoughts on it? I think. You could go for whatever reason. But what today's generation, the younger ones, you know, and like you say,
Starting point is 01:31:47 one of your 47, it's just so much so on with both of them. I just think they're going Because one, all the girls are there And two, all the guys are there also So I think it's like a T-sexual O-A, B, and C
Starting point is 01:32:04 They're going there to see What they can see, you know You sound like our good friend Emma Greed. I thought you was about to say Actually, I think everyone should watch the concert from home Okay, you won't Enjoy the experience if you don't watch it from home No, no, no, I think you should go there
Starting point is 01:32:21 and it's just everything's happening today with sexuality. So they're going to see you have two gentlemen there that are both pretty woozy and wuzzy. I think what you're simply saying is if you like people and you like to socialize, Usher and Chris Brown concert is a great place to be because if they come to your city, that's probably going to be the only thing moving in town that night. That's what she said. Hello, who's this? What's going on?
Starting point is 01:32:47 It's Jake Gordon-Burdow. Hey, Jay, what's up, man? Talk to us. What's your thoughts, brother? Yo, I'm definitely going to the concert, right? Okay. Might go to Atlanta, might go to the one in New York, might go to the one in Houston,
Starting point is 01:32:58 but I'm going to one of them concerts, right? You going to by yourself? Absolutely. I don't see a problem with it. But why? Yeah, there's going to be plenty of women there. What do you mean? Why?
Starting point is 01:33:06 20 women are going to be there. I'm going to be there. That's what I say. Okay, I'm glad to know that there's still a lot of people who just had the same mindset I had. And when I saw the meme, that's the first thing I thought, I want to be where all the women are.
Starting point is 01:33:18 You remember I used to promote parties back in the day, right? you want a bunch of women at the party. You want more women than guys. That's why you used to let girls in free before 11. Let girls in free before 11. Because if you got a bunch of girls in there, the guys are going to pay whatever. They ain't paying whatever to see all them ladies.
Starting point is 01:33:32 Absolutely. Hello, who's this? That's Lucky. Lucky, what's up? Talk to us, Lucky. Man, I will go to the Chris Brown concert by myself, but I have other stipulations of this situation because of my daughter and my wife is huge Chris Brown fans.
Starting point is 01:33:50 What's the stipulations? I'm a victim's wrong friend too because, you know, he's from my era. I grew up watching them and everything. But, yeah, otherwise, I would just go to take my wife and my daughter. But just going by myself, I probably would go. But to save me a couple of dollars, I may as well take my ass to work, man. Okay. But I will say this, though.
Starting point is 01:34:19 And I thought about it when I'm talking about it, when I'm talking about, talking out loud. I thought about it. But New Edition was performing the New Orleans, bro. And me and my manager was out there working. And I said, you, I want to go see new edition. And I went. And I didn't have my wife with me. And I didn't feel funny because I was singing all the songs. So I can't even say that. Yeah, that's true indeed. You know what I'm saying? I used to work at the same part. And I thought everybody kind of served. So if I didn't want to be there, I had to be there because I was working there. Right. I got you, brother. Thank you. What's the moral of the story? And by the way,
Starting point is 01:34:49 just ran to the bathroom. She had a little diarrhea. She had a poop. The moral of the story is, man, stop trying to shame people for no goddamn reason. Asking dumb-ass questions, as a grown man, why would you go to an usher and Chris Brown concert? Actually, asking that question says
Starting point is 01:35:03 more about you than it does about the people who are, one, secure enough to go by themselves as men if they want to, and two, going by their self because they know all the ladies going to be there. I want to know why your punk ass don't want to be where all the women at. How about that?
Starting point is 01:35:18 All right. All right. Well, when we come back, we got the latest with Lawrence. So don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Canadian women are looking for more. More to themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world are at them.

We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield.
Starting point is 01:37:19 And in this new season of The Girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care. So they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no.
Starting point is 01:37:38 I vowed. I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the Girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm AGO
Starting point is 01:37:54 What's up, everyone? I'm Ago Wodam. My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network. It's Will Ferrell. Woo, woo, woo, woo, woo. My dad gave me the best advice ever. I went and had lunch with them one day,
Starting point is 01:38:16 and I was like, and Dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through, and I know it's a place that come look for up and coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved.
Starting point is 01:38:34 And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat just hanging. in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Yeah. Listen to Thanks, Dad, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple
Starting point is 01:39:01 podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jess Salarious. Shalameen, the guy, we are to Breakfast Club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren. Lauren becoming a straight fair. She gets them from somebody that knows somebody. She gets to detail. I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything.
Starting point is 01:39:21 She'd be having the latest on this. The latest with Lauren La Rosa. Sometimes you have facts, sometimes you have details, sometimes you have a little bit everything. Well, it's the latest. Brought to you by Top Dog Law. On the Breakfast Club. Talk to me.
Starting point is 01:39:35 All righty guys, so this actually just broke a few minutes ago. Rihanna and Baby Rocky are covering the cover of W Magazine. I mean, I told you guys a few days ago that this cover would be happening. And in this magazine, I didn't get a chance to read the cover article yet, so we'll bring it back in the latest. tomorrow, but the tagline of it is letting us know a bit about what's happening. They mentioned that some of her friends and her collaborators and Aesat Rocky,
Starting point is 01:40:01 her lover, so Aesat Rocky, Siza, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, they're all sharing stories about how Rihanna has trailblazed as an artist and she went, you know, from Muggle to mom. So we got to meet Baby Rocky on the cover. He's so chunky. Cute. Cute.
Starting point is 01:40:15 The magazine, yes. Funny when you first said, Riri, I thought we got new music. I said, oh, we got some music. Well, I haven't read the article yet, but my source who told me that the article, I mean, that the cover was coming, did tell me that she discusses the new music in this article. So once I read it, it will come back in the latest tomorrow. Maybe there will be an update.
Starting point is 01:40:30 I don't know why y'all keep bothering Rihanna about new music. She didn't have made billions of dollars off of makeup and lingerie. I wouldn't give y'all no song just to critique over and over and, you know, compare it to what I did 10, 15 years ago. It's still in her blood. And she's still in her blood. Yeah, she's not. Hopefully.
Starting point is 01:40:49 But I wouldn't be mad if we didn't get in. We just keep getting it through music and through movies and stuff. like we've been doing because she has a lot going on. So, yes, speaking to Mariah Carey. In other news, Mariah Carey, she was caught out in New York by TMZ, and they talked to her about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Let's take a listen. Do you care about the Rock and Roald Inducty thing?
Starting point is 01:41:07 Oh, no. Rhea, what's your message to your fans that have been defending you for not being inducted? What do you say to your fans? I love my fans, always. Thank you so much, Queen. And we're happy that it's, you know, not the biggest deal to you. Because you've already. won a lot of awards.
Starting point is 01:41:24 Yeah, who cares? Like, give it to somebody else. Fantastic. Oh, that's right. And the reality is, I was, I was shocked that Mariah wasn't a first ballot,
Starting point is 01:41:32 you know, Hall of Famer. But she'll get in. It's Mariah Carey, guys. And she'll get in. And where did they just catch Mariah Carey? She was leaving out of a hotel.
Starting point is 01:41:42 She was leaving out of the Peninsula Hotel, New York. And normally what happens is you get tips. Like whenever a big name celebrities are like that or somewhere,
Starting point is 01:41:49 someone's going to call you if they know that's what you do and say, hey, the celebrity's here. Gotcha. I love her. toward that because I mean she don't need that validation of a star you know what I'm saying
Starting point is 01:41:56 although I am surprised that she didn't get in I love how she said give it to somebody else who cares she knows who she is she'll eventually get it yeah she will it's more I care exactly well in other news speaking of big names so we talked about Eddie Murphy being honored at the a FI the American Film Institute awards this week one of the revelations that came out of that whole night was the fact that we might be getting another Shrek let's take a listen this is a beautiful thing all my kids are here and Mike Myers is over there and Shrek 5 is coming out very soon
Starting point is 01:42:27 and this is just a beautiful thing it's great to be I've been making movies for really long since I was 20 years old I'm 65 now so that's a long time it's a great feeling Beverly Hills Cup 5 oh no no no no no Beverly Hills
Starting point is 01:42:41 cop 5 in the immediate future Shrek 5 and Donkey the first donkey movie doing a donkey movie too the donkey's getting his own movie Do you know how much money Eddie Murphy has made off playing a donkey. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:42:57 Yes. I think I'm correct on this. He receives a percentage of donkey-related merchandise revenue. That's crazy. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I think I remember hearing that before.
Starting point is 01:43:13 Wow. It says that he earned at least $3 million for the first Trek film and roughly $10 million for the sequel. Well, that's just for voicing it. Yeah, that's just from testing it. Yeah, not even residual. The residuals. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:26 Yeah. Wow. That is wild. I would love to see Beverly Hills cop, though, too, but can hey. No. Yes. There's one on Netflix now. It's a part four.
Starting point is 01:43:35 You ain't even watched that one, did you? Nope. No. Exactly. Yes. Oh. Oh. Maybe I did see that on the plane.

Starting point is 01:43:51 When Mike Meyer spoke at the award ceremony for Eddie Murphy, he talked about how Shrek, like that whole series, how they saved, they said that Jeff Kastenberg said that that movie saved DreamWorks. Like, that's how big it was for them. So, yeah. Trek was the whole thing. That's why I'm excited that he even mentioned Shrek 5.
Starting point is 01:44:08 Like, what? Everybody's going to be in the theaters for that, just waiting for that. I love when you meet a woman that they say look like Shrek. You never heard anybody say that? Yes, absolutely. I've actually told a few women that they look like Shrek. Because they do.
Starting point is 01:44:18 Wow. Yeah. And it's hilarious. Wow. For real. All it is is looking like Fiona when she was an ogre.
Starting point is 01:44:25 Man, that's what it is. How do you want a woman to take that? Like, are you looking like Shrek? Yeah, that's not a good thing. They're going to say, thank you. Yeah, because that's one of the greatest movies I've ever watched. They could say that.
Starting point is 01:44:34 And when they say, when they say, she built like Shrek. Ooh, that's different. That's a good one. That's a good one. It's not a bad thing now. Huh? That you looking built like Shrek?
Starting point is 01:44:43 Oh, no. You want to be built like a, what's, what's made the salient? Like a Salyon. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. mine.
