Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, Joe, yo, yo, Joe, yo, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, I'm good morning. Is Charlamanian yet? No, not yet. All right, well, today is Thursday. Good morning. How you feeling? What's up, Jess? How are you feeling? What's up? I feel good. Yo, I love my husband so much. So, look, I've been riding around with a dirty-ass G-G wagon for maybe, maybe like three weeks now, right? Because it's not my job to get my car washed or to fill it up on gas, right?
Starting point is 00:03:28 So I just out of nowhere. I haven't even said anything to him because his truck been dirty too. But I walked to my truck this morning and it was super clean detail in out. Everything. It smells good in there. Got the air freshener. I'm like, oh, I love you so much. As he should.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Yes, yes. That's one of my jobs. I do that for my wife and my daughter. I make sure that cars are clean and they got gas in it. No, that's a lot of cars. So I know you got a membership at a car wash. I definitely do. Yeah, you, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:56 I definitely do. Or they come by the crib. Either, either or they come by the crib. Yes, but that just warmed my heart this morning. I just love, like, Chris always does, you know, things like that unexpected. But, like, I really, if I got past this week, I would shut up, show of me. If I got past this week and it wasn't clean, oh, I was jumping on his ass. Like, yo, what's up with that?
Starting point is 00:04:15 That's right. Yeah, this is going to ask us a bit of the weather. A Mexican husband and he ain't working. Shut up. I agree with you. I am so. Tell me put his headphones on. That is what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Tell me put his headphones on. What's your headphones on? Shut up. What? So Chris Al-Bordop is feeling under the weather. Good morning. Chris is feeling under the weather. I'm in Austin, Texas.
Starting point is 00:04:33 I'll tell you how to go to Austin. Oh, okay. How was that about this weekend, right? Yeah, that's right. Yeah, I'm back tonight. I'm back tonight. How is it right? How is it right?
Starting point is 00:04:41 It was good. I'm going to tell you, Chris Al-Bordop was under the weather. And this was the first time in probably 20 years that when I was flying, my stomach just didn't feel right. It felt queasy. It was the first time I thought I was going to do a number two on a plane. Like my stomach was, but I didn't know what it was. And then when I just spoke to Chris this morning, he said he had like a little stomach bug.
Starting point is 00:04:58 So I don't know, maybe there's a stomach bug going around the station or whatever. But I didn't do the number two. But I almost did. My stomach got all right. I mean, I'm cramping, but it ain't no bug and nothing like that. I'm good. Was it something you ate? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:13 No, you sit right next to red. So it probably, you know, all of that stuff is airborne. All that little stomach virus crap. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know why y'all talking about your bowels, but, okay, God. I was talking about my husband washing my car and filling my tank up unexpectedly, and I walked out to it this morning.
Starting point is 00:05:29 I was like, oh, my God. Don't, whatever. You've been with him long enough. He's a working man, okay? Yeah. Jesus. And all Mexicans out there. Where's the bomb, Eddie?
Starting point is 00:05:40 Eddie, you're not paying attention. Jesus Christ. He loves his wife. That's why he did it. He loves his wife. That's the reason why he loves his wife. Also, today, uh, tickets are going, sale for the Black Effect Podcast Festival and we'll be
Starting point is 00:05:51 announcing the rest of the lineup later on today in the show. And we have Angela Renee Simmons. We'll be joining us this morning. She'll be joining us this morning. Now she decides she wanted to music. You know what I'm saying? It's Rev. Run daughter. Angela has been around for a long time, but she's doing music now. So she's got a single
Starting point is 00:06:07 called Run 2 with Jay to kiss. Yes. Love it. That's right. So we're going to be talking about all of that. Yep, we got front page news. Let's start off the show since Reverend's daughter's going to be here. Let's do Jagged Edge Reverend. Let's get married. Put us in a happy mood this morning.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Great record. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Salameenegu. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Let's get in some front page news. I know one thing. Angela better not coming here today rapping like a reverend. What you mean? My name is Angela. That would be crazy. I know.
Starting point is 00:06:39 That's crazy. What's up, Mimi? Good morning. How y'all doing this morning? Good morning. Less black and highly favorite. Good morning. So we start this morning with a
Starting point is 00:06:49 security warning involving California and the growing conflict in Iran. So the FBI has alerted police departments across California that Iran may have discussed launching a surprise drone attack on the West Coast. Now, according to a federal alert intelligence officials, they received information earlier this year, suggesting that drones could be launched from a ship somewhere off the U.S. coast, potentially targeting locations in California if the United States carried out strikes against Iran. Now, authorities say they do not know when. attack could happen or how it might be carried out or what locations would even be targeted. Yes. But right now and right now is very important to note that there is no confirmed plot
Starting point is 00:07:29 and no known imminent threat. Still, the warning, it was shared with local law enforcement agencies across California so they can remain alert and tensions overseas as tensions overseas continue to rise. So President Trump, he was asked about that warning and that alert and here's what he had to say. about a possible Iran revenge plot in California where there would be some kind of a boat offshore launching drones towards the... It's being investigated, but you have a lot of things happening and all we can do is take them as they come. And if they try to hit us back, have you been briefed about how many Iran's sleeper cells
Starting point is 00:08:10 there could be inside the U.S. right now? I have been, and a lot of people came in through Biden with this stupid open border. But we know where most of them are. We've got our eye on all of them, I think. After seeing how this administration handled COVID, you know, way back when I have zero faith in their ability to keep America safe. Yeah. And keep us abreast of, you know, potential terroristic threats on our soil. And that's very scary.
Starting point is 00:08:34 And I wouldn't just worry about California. I'd worry about every state there. Like when they were attacked, they're going to attack anywhere that they could possibly get. So it's not just California, New York Times Square, Atlanta. I'm scared for everybody. Well, I agree with you, but they're focused on California because there's intelligence that suggests a potential threat could be happening in California involving drones. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Well, some officials now believe those strikes, though, may have been damaged. And Iran, their ability to carry them out because of the U.S. over there and their missiles, they say they may have destroyed some of the launch pass that they were hoping to use to strike some of the U.S., but we don't know that for sure. California officials say they are taking the warning very seriously. Governor Gavin Newsom says state emergency services are working with local agencies to monitor the situation and protect communities. Let's listen to that. As it relates to drone strikes, we've been aware of that information. We've been working collaboratively through the SOC, which we established right after the war, began the state operations center, working with the office emergency service, but also working locally to make sure we transmit any information that we have received. And we're aware of that, which has been reported, I think, by ABC7. We're aware of that information and we transfer that information in real time to our local partners.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Dron issues have been always top of mind. And we've assembled work groups specifically around those concerns. When they say drones, I wonder what they mean because when we think drones, we think the casual drones people be using to take pictures and such. I know that's what they're not talking. Nah, not. I know that's not what they're talking. No, not at all.
Starting point is 00:10:08 They can't. Some sort of high-tech drones, I'm sure. But in Los Angeles County, the sheriff's department says, it has raised its level of readiness and increased patrols around places of worship, cultural institutions, just out of caution. And with the Oscars taking place this weekend in Hollywood, law enforcement sources say security around the event has been significantly increased. And authorities, they do stress again, there is no specific threat to Los Angeles or the Oscars,
Starting point is 00:10:32 but they are warning. But they say the warning is just a reminder that, you know, conflicts as they grow overseas, it's best to be secure here and stay vigilant and stay prepared. How can we trust that, though? I mean, if I was trying to make a statement, you know, California, Los Angeles, Oscar weekend, it's going to be a lot of people gathered, doing a lot of different things. That's why I would want to make a statement. How can I just trust law enforcement when they tell me everything's all good?
Starting point is 00:10:57 Yeah, it's, it's with everything that's going on, it's really scary to trust anything right now. So, but we will continue to watch that. And the war in Iran, though, is pushing gas prices higher. We've talked about that, but there are warning signs that it could get even worse. So Iran says that the oil prices could jump to $200. barrel if the straight of her moves stays closed. And if oil can't get there, get through there, the global supply tightens. And that is what will raise gas prices. So the federal government, they say they are going to try and keep prices from spiking. So Energy Secretary Chris Wright,
Starting point is 00:11:29 he says the U.S. will release 172 million barrels of oil from the emergency oil supply. That's in an effort to help bring those prices back down. And the oil will start being released next week, though it could take a few months to fully reach the market for you to fully fill it. But that is expected to start next week. And lastly, in other news for this hour, here's a sentence that I didn't expect to say this morning. President Donald Trump says if influencer turned a boxer, Jake Paul, ever decides to run for Congress, he would have Trump's complete and total endorsement. Let's listen. Jake, you got to come up.
Starting point is 00:12:03 Come here. Come on. You got it. Mr. Trump, we need more factories like this thriving all over the country. And I know he's going to be the one to bring that here to us. I know God is with us. I know he wants us on the right side of history and everyone here has to do their part
Starting point is 00:12:19 and God's got us, Trump's got us. God bless. Love you, Kentucky. I'm going to make a prediction that you will be in the not too distant future running for a political office. And you have my complete and total endorsement, okay? We don't have time for this type of unsiriousness. It's on seriousness right now.
Starting point is 00:12:39 What's hilarious is Trump is the example of why this shouldn't happen. And all he did say was that he could run. He could run. That don't mean anything. You don't have to vote for him. Yes. But I also think more importantly, Trump was in Kentucky to campaign against Republican Congressman Thomas Massey, who has been critical of Trump, as well as push, you know,
Starting point is 00:12:59 the release of the Epstein file. So he's working with the person who's running against him to try and get him to get Massey out of office. I think Thomas Massey going to be okay because Thomas Massey is on the right side of history. And I think that it's way more Republicans, with common sense than it is the maga, cult-like lunatics. Okay. Well, we shall see.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Yeah, exactly. All right, well, coming up at seven after more than a year of pressure on target, some say the boycott is ending, but others disagree. We're going to talk about it in the next hour. All right. Everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-585-105-1. If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open.
Starting point is 00:13:37 It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Get it up. This is your time to get it off your chest. 800 585105.1. We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Yo, this Duke.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Duke's getting off your trip, man. What's going on? How are y'all doing? Less black and highly favorite. How are you, sir? I'm all right. It could be a little bit better. I was calling this morning, man,
Starting point is 00:14:00 just to, you know, give a little bit of awareness to everyone, man, just to keep up on their life insurance. My sister passed last week. Sorry, you hear that, brother. Condolences to you and your family, man. Yeah, I appreciate it, y'all. It's just one of those things to where we have to pay for the funeral out of pocket. And my father, he paid for a majority of it, but we still left with a balance.
Starting point is 00:14:26 So I got to go fund me on my page, man. If anybody want to go on my page and donate to it so we can get the rest of her funeral page, man, that would be awesome. She wasn't keeping up on her life insurance? You started off my life insurance. Oh, she didn't have any? But yeah, my sister ain't had none at all, man She was just living life without it You know, and that just made me think
Starting point is 00:14:48 You know what I mean? I was like, damn I had let mine collide one time So that day I went back, you know And re-got my life insurance man But that's good You know, we still got to raise the money for hers
Starting point is 00:15:02 Yeah So My Facebook page My goal fund me is on my Facebook page My name is Mike L. Duke Mike L. Duce, if anybody I already raised $600, I'm like, maybe like
Starting point is 00:15:16 $5,000 short, but if anybody want to go on my Facebook page, my name is Mike L. Dukes. I got on orange and blue, and I have it on a white hat. Y'all probably see my sister's at the top of my page if anybody want to donate.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Good luck, Mike. Yeah, man, good luck, Mike. And definitely send the healing energy to you and your family, my brother. Yes, sir, yes, sir. I appreciate y'all. Yes, sir. Thank you, Mike. And anybody out there listening, I just want to tell you, you know, if you get insurance early, it's very, very inexpensive, like close to like $20.30 a month, $20 a month, which can help you out later on. And if you do have a little extra money, and this might sound a little morbid. But me and my wife, I pay for me and my wife's casket and burial all that already just in case. So that's just one thing my kids and family don't have to worry about.
Starting point is 00:16:04 That is great, Joe. And I don't think people know that life insurance can be that cheap. That's another reason why people don't have it like that. My mother went through that when my aunt died. We didn't know, the family didn't even know she didn't have life insurance, and my mother, you know, had to bury her. And it was a lot. So, yeah, people don't really, they don't live for, you know, long term.
Starting point is 00:16:25 They just live in their lives. And that's going to affect the family when they're gone later, you know, trying to put them in the ground. Get it off your chest. 800-585-105-1. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:16:37 This is your time to get it off your chest. I got an indoor pool, an outdoor pool. We want to hear from you on the breakfast club. We can get on the phone right now. He'll tell you what it is. We live. Hello, who's this? This is James Smith from Conway, South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:16:51 James Smith, Conway, South Carolina. What's happening, brother? Good morning. Get it off your chest, bro. Hey, man, this boy in Iraq, man, this thing is just getting blowing out of proportion. The president is crazy. He's taking these people lightly. I think they're going to do what they need to do.
Starting point is 00:17:07 to try to hit California. He don't give a damn about it. Well, I do agree. I do agree that he don't give a damn about nobody but himself, but let's not put that in the atmosphere. I don't want, I don't want no place on American soil to get hit. Yeah, I don't want nothing to happen either. But, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:17:26 Just like I'm saying, he don't care about anything. So just like I'm saying, all he care about is himself. Yeah. God bless you, baby. All right, my brother. Thank you. Hello, who's this? Hey, this is Betsy.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Hey, good morning. Get it off your chest. Yeah, I wanted to get off my chest about the Holy Honor situation. Yes, man. I feel really bad about what happened. I did read that her cousin said she was in a tragic accident, and she hadn't been the same since. Oh, so maybe some head trauma.
Starting point is 00:18:00 Who did a girl? Yeah, they were trying to say that it was a head trauma. But I just want to say that stalking is a real thing. mental health is a real thing. And just look out for your people. Just check on them. Absolutely. I agree, man.
Starting point is 00:18:13 That's why I push, you know, therapy the way that I push therapy and just, you know, tell people to, you know, constantly focus on their mental health. But I think when you're dealing with, you know, things like head trauma or schizophrenia, man, it's really no kill for schizophrenia. Only thing you can do is try to treat that. Yeah, yeah. And if it goes untreated, it just gets worse. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:18:31 That's all I wanted to get off hot chest. God bless you all. Take care. God bless you. Thank you. All right. Me, I was talking to them. I was talking to my homeboy Chris yesterday, man.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I remember I was saying how last Saturday I just felt like there was a shift, like there was some type of energy shift. Yeah, something was off. It just had me feeling like, you know, down for like the next couple of days. I just want to tell everybody out there, Chris said something that he was like, man, he think that a lot of people have uneasiness, uneasiness about the future, you know? And a lot of times when you have uneasiness about the future, that's what causes a lot of your anxiety because you're trying to control things out of your,
Starting point is 00:19:04 out of your control. The only thing we can control is what's going on in the president. moment and you really can't even control that. So I just want to tell everybody, man, like, you know, protect your peace, enjoy the moment. You know, I hear people calling up, you know, even when you call up here and say things like, oh, I hope nothing don't happen in California, blah, blah, blah. Man, let's not sit around and stress about hypotheticals and, you know, things that could happen.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Let's just, you know, focus on the current moment, man. Protect your peace and the current moment. Absolutely. Get it off your chest, 800-585-105.1. When we come back, we got the latest with Lauren. She said, the Jackson's are beefing. What? We'll get into that next.
Starting point is 00:19:38 It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jess Lari. Shalameen, the guy, we are the breakfast club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren.
Starting point is 00:19:45 Hey, your talk, LL. Kube. Yeah, I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself. That source is must. I'm the home guy that knows a little bit about everything and everything. One.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that. Take me through that. Where she's gone. The latest with Lauren knows. Take me through that. On the breakfast club
Starting point is 00:20:07 L.L. Coobeck. Talk to me. Good morning, guys. So yesterday, we were kind of talking about yesterday, which I was telling me, nobody cares because my dad said it. So, Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson and is being reported first by page 6
Starting point is 00:20:25 and now also by TMZ, that there is beef happening. So what happened is there was a private screening, allegedly, that went down in L.A. And the screening was just for Michael Jackson's family, because Michael, the biopic, is coming out on April 24th. So they say about 60 members of the Jackson family got together, including Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson.
Starting point is 00:20:44 And it was supposed to be like this great moment. Like it's finally here. We're all done. We get to watch it together. But instead it turned to like a big back and forth of, I guess, like jealousies or whatever that's been alleged that they said have been simmering for some time. So after the movie screening ends, according to reports, everybody's like super excited during the film.
Starting point is 00:21:05 there's clapping, there's laughter, lights come up, and then the conversation start about things that could have been better, and they're alleging that this is all coming from Janet Jackson. They say that she was allegedly very vocal and very honest about things she didn't like, which caused the back and forth. They said she talked about the makeup, the acting,
Starting point is 00:21:23 even things small down to how people were walking in this movie. And according to reports, this is coming from, you know, they say things that have been simmering, I guess, like jealousy, whatever the case may be. But there's a lot of tension right now anyway within the family because they're going through a whole battle about how the estate is being managed and Janet Jackson and Parrish Jackson,
Starting point is 00:21:43 Michael Jackson's daughter, are involved in that. But reportedly, at the theater, when the back of her was happening, Jermaine Jackson told Janet, you're going to miss this wave. He allegedly called her so jealous, and they said that there was a blunt exchange that stunned a lot of people in the room, and there's a lot of people that support each other on both sides.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Like, some people are supporting, Janet in this. Some people were supporting Germain in this. But then they said there was a phone call that happened after. And that that phone call was very brutal between Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson as well too. Where do you all of this? Who leaked all this information? This is all source of information.
Starting point is 00:22:19 And I will tell y'all, like, I, so I reached out on both sides. Well, I reached out in three sides. I reached out to the estate. I reached out to Janet Jackson's side. I reached out to Jermaine Jackson side. Now they normally don't say anything anyway, but... You and Jermaine go to the same hairstylist, right? Shut up. Wow. Shut up.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Not my son's the stylist, shut up. No, we don't. You get on my nerves. I can see it now. I can't unsee it now. Oh, my God. No, but I reached out, and there's been times where if stories were like super, super crazy, I've at least been told, like, if you're going to report this,
Starting point is 00:22:49 here's what you should know or know that it's completely not true, because there are a lot of things that come in about the Jackson family that are just, like, all over the place. No one's saying anything to me, but these people have all these sources. Now, the source close that talk to TMZ tells them that the siblings got into her on a phone call after the whole family gathering in L.A., that whole screening that went down, and they say Janet was still very critical.
Starting point is 00:23:11 And the fact that Jermaine Jackson's son Jafar is starring as Michael Jackson in the film, Jermaine Jackson stood his ground. They say it was because Janet Jackson is like one of, you know, she's like one of the big, I mean, they're all big names in the family, but Janet Jackson is, you know. She's the second biggest in the family.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Yeah, right? She reacted from what this report is, is if she reacted negatively because, you know, once this film hits, she has to answer to that as well, too. So, you know, that's like added pressure. Is it true that they asked her to be involved, but she didn't want to be involved? And that was the first time hearing or seeing anything with the movie?
Starting point is 00:23:46 I can't tell you whether that's true or not because no one would pick up the phone for me. But I have seen that. But also, too, I'll say Paris Jackson spoke out some time ago and continues to say little things here and there. We have some audio of her where she says she actually gave some notes on the script and they told her, no, I'm good. Thank you. Let's take a listen to Paris Jackson.
Starting point is 00:24:02 There's been a lot of responses to the thing that I posted earlier about just clarifying that I wasn't involved at all. Aside from like giving feedback on the first draft and then getting the feedback that, yeah, we're not actually going to address your notes at all. So I just like butt it out and I just like I've left it alone because it's not my project. A big reason why I haven't said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are going to be happy with it. The film panders to a very specific section of my dad's fandom that still lives in the fantasy. and they're going to be happy with it. The thing about these biopics is is Hollywood. It's fantasy land. It's not
Starting point is 00:24:37 real. But it's sold to you as real. The narrative is being controlled. There's a lot of inaccuracy and there's a lot of just full-blown lies. That doesn't really fly with me. I don't really like dishonesty. I spoke up. I wasn't heard. I f***ed off. And that's the problem, right? It's a movie
Starting point is 00:24:54 at the end of the day. They're still trying to make something that's going to be entertaining that's going to appeal to a large majority of people. But if you're that person's family. Like if you're Janet and you're his sister, if you're his child, you know him better than anybody. So you're watching this like, that's not,
Starting point is 00:25:09 that's not my daddy, my daddy wouldn't have done that. So, envy, you brought up the part of, like, people are reporting that Janet Jackson, they offered or she, they offered her potentially some way to be involved or something like that, and she declined, right? There's also the conversation that I've seen about there was an issue or she allegedly had
Starting point is 00:25:26 an issue that she wasn't in the script, and then I saw reporting that if she wasn't a script, it would have been small. Like, because I haven't talked to anyone directly, I can't say whether any of that is true. But if it is true, if that is the case that I'm sitting there and I see something that I don't like, you know what I mean? Like, I don't know what the conversations were leading up to this. But you know what Shalamaid just said?
Starting point is 00:25:43 You remember when they did the notorious movie about Biggie, it was the same thing. It was so many people said, I don't like it. It didn't happen like this. I didn't see it like this. Like Little Kim said she didn't, she didn't even see the movie because it didn't portray her life the right way. So you're going to get a lot of this. But with Janet Jackson, you figured she would be very, very a part of this because
Starting point is 00:26:00 that's her brother. to our brother and she was close to her brother and she is the second biggest star of family. But also this is the Michael movie. So nobody's going to have a bigger role in this than Michael Jackson. It's about Michael. Like the Tito and Jemaine and Randy and Marlon and they're going to be in it
Starting point is 00:26:15 for five ten minutes. Now. Now. Now. Now. I'm sorry. Oh my God. You have any questions. I hate when I talk to vain people. You do that to me all the time. Mullen is the youngest one.
Starting point is 00:26:27 But look, what I'm saying is why can't she have an opinion about it? Like what? You know what I'm saying? I think she can. Yeah, you know, she can. Because I ain't going to lie. I saw an official trailer. I saw, hey, yo, I saw a trailer yesterday.
Starting point is 00:26:39 And the movie looks great. It looks fire. Those trailers look great. The makeup and some of them, yeah, it looks like they overdid the makeup. Like, yeah, he looked crazy in some of the shots. So I see. I love Michael Jackson. I love Michael Jackson, too.
Starting point is 00:26:52 But there was a time where he looked crazy in real life. Yeah, but they made. They overdid it on Jafar. They made. I haven't seen, I haven't seen. I mean, I've seen the trailer, but I'm just, I don't care. I'm going to see it in. I'm going to say it too.
Starting point is 00:27:02 I can't wait. I'm taking the kids. I'm going as well. Okay. It looks great cinematic. And whatever it's happening behind the scenes, I hope that they figured out. They got a lot of other battles going on right now with that estate.
Starting point is 00:27:11 And just, I mean, just staying together as a family when you are the Jackson family, probably every single day is a battle. Can I say? Canadian women are looking for more. More to themselves, their businesses,

Starting point is 00:30:45 In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief. A nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny, baby. is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history. Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict? A villain. A nurse named Lucy Letby. Lucy Letby has been found guilty.
Starting point is 00:31:09 But what if we didn't get the whole story? The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses. I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, doubt the case of Lucy Lettby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived in. I'm going to see it in April. That's family business. They got to work that out amongst each other. I'm going to see it. Is Paris Jackson,
Starting point is 00:32:04 is Paris Jackson the child that Michael Jackson hung over the balcony? I think that was Blanket. Okay, so that was his real name. Her real name. That kid's real name. Yeah, I believe that's Blanket's real name. I've always known that Blanket was Blanket. I wanted to mention too, some of the cast. Oh, I got to wrap up.
Starting point is 00:32:21 But Jafar Jackson is playing Michael Jackson as his nephew, Coleman, Domingo. was Joe Jackson. That's who Paris Jackson was kind of upset with. Neil Long is paying Catherine Jackson, the mother of Michael Jackson. Lorenz Tate is playing Barry Gordy. It's going to be good. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:32:36 And that's the latest for the hour. Guys, we'll be back with some more Hollywood news and the Oscars and all the things going on this weekend. I can't wait. Starting point is 00:33:37 We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get back to some front page news. What's up, Mimi? Good morning. How y'all doing this morning? Good morning, me. How are you, Mimi, Brown? I'm good.
Starting point is 00:33:47 So we start this hour with confusion surrounding the national boycott of Target and whether it is actually over. So Pastor Jamal Bryant, who has become one of the most visible faces behind the campaign, is now calling for the boycott to end after what he describes as productive conversations with the company. Bryant says the pressure pushed target to make progress on commitments to support black businesses, job programs connected to historically black colleges and universities. Let's listen to some of what he had to say. It's been a year, and I'm grateful.
Starting point is 00:34:18 History has just been made. The most effective and powerful boycott by black people sent the month. Montgomery bus boycott 70 years ago. We asked for four things, and I'm grateful to God if we've got three of them. The only thing that we didn't get accomplished, but we're still working towards, is an investment into black banks. This new CEO has come handling business, and I'm glad to walk with you. The immediate target with FAS has come to an end.
Starting point is 00:34:48 We claim victory. We're grateful. Go in or stay out, but I'm grateful under God. It's open. Mimi, let me ask you a question. I was reading the USA Today article yesterday, and I heard Reverend Brian say that they got three to four demands met, but in the USA Today article it said that Target did not offer concessions or reverse changes at all.
Starting point is 00:35:08 And I think that's where the confusion comes because I spoke to local organizers in Minneapolis, Nakima Levy Armstrong, Monique Colors Dodie, and Jalani Hussein, who I did not speak to, but I met Nakima and Monique when I was in Minneapolis when I was covering operas. Metro Surge. And they tell me that they launched the boycott last year after Target rolled back some of its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. And they say that those policies have not been restored to your point and the demands from Target have not yet been met. And so they wanted to talk about why the boycott is very much still in place. Let's listen to what they had to say. When the announcement came out that they said that the boycott was ending, were you in the original organizers, the three of you
Starting point is 00:35:53 or any of you consulted before that decision was made? No, we were not, we were, I was flabbergasted. I will say that, but also I watched part of the press conference. I didn't, I couldn't even sit through the whole thing. And, Nakema, what was your response when you saw that press conference? It just, it was just disgusting to me to see that happen. And this is what these companies like Target Love. You know, they operate as colonizers.
Starting point is 00:36:23 And a lot of their strategy is to divide and conquer when our community puts up a strong show of force. And think about the fact that, you know, at the end of the day, who benefits from this confusion? It's not our community. It's Target that benefits. Because they may have some people who genuinely think that the boycott is over. Even though Target has not lived up to any of our expectations, we'll continue to get the word out on social media. the website is National Target Boycott.com. That is our website
Starting point is 00:36:57 from the founders of this Target boycott. But we also remind people don't just bow down to what celebrities have to say. Do your homework. Because we may not have the biggest platforms but our voices matter
Starting point is 00:37:11 and we're ten toes down for the people. That's proven. What would make... I'm so confused. Yeah, what would make Reverend Jamal Bryant call off a boycott if Target didn't meet any demands? And why would Reverend Bryant say
Starting point is 00:37:21 three of the four demands were met if they weren't. So there are two different things happening right here. So Reverend Jamal Bryant, he started a fast, right? So he called initially for a 40-day fast from Target. Not the original boycott that the local organizers in Minneapolis started, whether that was Senator Nina Turner or the local organizers is, you know, is still up for debate. but what we do know is that Reverend Jamal Bryant he called for a 40-day fast.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Now that 40-day fast turned into a 400-day fast as they said that some of their demands were not met. And I think the confusion that's happening is when you call something it feels like the fast was birthed out of the boycott. And so when you, Reverend Jamal Bryant is saying that the fast is over not the boycott.
Starting point is 00:38:11 He is saying that some of the demands that he wanted investments in jobs for historically black college, you know, students from historically black colleges. He's, you know, some, some, some stuff with DEI, uh, inclusion, uh, tactics to go back to the black community. He's saying that they wasn't all working together. I thought Jamal Bryan and the local team was working together. He said this new CEO has been, you know, willing to sit down and listen. And so the local organizers, they're saying that, no, it was never one thing altogether that, that, uh, they, in the, maybe in the beginning,
Starting point is 00:38:47 there was some solidarity, but as time, went on, they kind of broke off into their own sort of separate branches and there's been some confusion and I didn't even know this until they announced that the boycott was over and then you know the newspaper articles and the press conferences because the local organizers in Minneapolis they held their own press conference and then we saw that Jamal Bryant, Anita Turner and Tamika Mallory
Starting point is 00:39:11 held their own press conference yesterday so that's where people are confused. Yeah, I haven't spoken to my goodness to Temeca Mallory yet extensively about this but I'm just I'm just confused because if Reverend Bryant is claiming victory and saying three of the four demands were met, but in the USA Today article, it literally says in materials, Bryant's organization provided the USA Today target did not offer concessions or reverse changes. The company made to its DEI and other policies. And, you know, the young woman, Dr. Armstrong and Monique Cullors, they're saying none of the concessions were met.
Starting point is 00:39:43 So what's going on? Who lying here? Yeah. Somebody lying. And I think that's the thing. thing. So I think, again, there's there was two separate initiatives happening. There was a target fast, and then
Starting point is 00:39:55 there was a target boycott. When I talked to Dr. Leamy Armstrong and Monique Colors, they were saying that some of their initiatives got tied into what Dr. Bryant had wanted as well. But as far as their concern, nothing
Starting point is 00:40:11 has changed. The boycott is still on. Dr. Bryant is saying that that is not the case. that, you know, the fast is over. He's calling it a fast. He's not calling it. He's not saying the boycott is over. He's saying that the fast is over.
Starting point is 00:40:24 And I did speak to Temeca Mallory this morning. And she did give me a statement. And she said that no one group gets the call off the boycott. She said that she nor any other group has the authority to say that the boycott has ended. The initiative that started by Dr. Jamal Bryant a year ago has concluded, which is the fast? And I asked her why these stories are coming out saying otherwise. and she said that she can't control what the media is reporting, but nowhere will you see her saying
Starting point is 00:40:51 or telling people that they should go into a target store. Yeah, Reverend Brian, you know, and salute to Reverend Jamal Brian, you know, he's definitely a friend to the show. He has to know how that's going to look to the grassroots organizers like the Armstrong and unique colors. And the fact that Tamika and Nina are saying the boycott is still on, but Jamal's saying it's off. That's going to make a lot of people feel like Reverend Brian got paid off.
Starting point is 00:41:14 I'm not saying he did. I'm just saying I know that's what people will think. That's probably the narrative now on social media. It doesn't sound right because they're not on the same page. That's the crazy part because he's been up here a couple of times talking about. And I never heard fast. I've heard boycott. So maybe I'm wrong, but I'm confused.
Starting point is 00:41:29 He said fast initially, but then I thought it turned into a boycott. He did say fast. And then I think he went back and forth with the fast because even if you listen to the clip that I played, in the very beginning, he called it a boycott. In the very end, he called it a fast. Well, I hope he not lying because last time he came up here, He told me to stop line. But somebody need to tell you to stop line.
Starting point is 00:41:49 That was very good advice. That was God talking through him. Well, now God is telling me to tell him the same thing. He was a man from Baltimore, right? Yeah, that's my man. So, hey, yo. Yeah. And I do want to add that Senator Nina Turner said that she will also not go back into a target store.
Starting point is 00:42:07 So, you know, for her, the boycott is still very much on as well. That's what I'm saying. It's making this whole situation look funny in the light. That's right. It's kind of crazy. All right. Good reporting, though, Mimi. Good reporting. Absolutely. Thank you. All right, well, that is your front page news.
Starting point is 00:42:24 I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown TV. For more stories. Follow the Black Information Network. Thank you, Mimi. Peace, Mimi. Now, when we come back, Angela Renee Simmons, Rudrun's daughter will be joining us.
Starting point is 00:42:36 She's doing music now. Can you believe it? Yes. Well, we're going to hear her new song and all last. So don't go anywhere. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's D.J.
Starting point is 00:42:45 NV Jess Hilarius, Sholomey and the guy. We are the breakfast club. Lawlerosa is here as well. We got a special guest in the building. Yes, indeed. Jess, this is our fake workout partner. Ladies and gentlemen, Angela Simmons is here. Not the fake workout partner.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Angela's the only person I know comes in the gym with heels on. Talk about, can I work, can I ride the bike with heels on? That day. It was just that day. But I go to the real gym. So, like, that's like a part of it. Okay. The healing process.
Starting point is 00:43:07 I said the real gym. The real gym. No, no, no. I'm saying, like, you get it. Like, it's like, because you're not really sweating in there. Why do you know. Why'd you come in the gym with heels? What are you training for?
Starting point is 00:43:15 I was going going somewhere else after. So I just, you can go there in your heels. Right. Oh, you're going to change clothes. Okay, he made it sound like you bought the. No, she worked out in her heels, damn it? I did that day. See?
Starting point is 00:43:25 See? They were, like, short heels and they were gray and they had like fur. It was okay. And then it were furry-ass heels. But I had on sweats with it, so it's fair. You never know when you got to fight. You might have to fight in here. And it could work.
Starting point is 00:43:36 That's just fine. Well, welcome. Thank you. How are you feeling? I'm great. So you became an artist now. Yes. No, not singing.
Starting point is 00:43:45 Not quite that. Rapping? Spoken word. Spoken word. So that's you speaking. So that's not you singing. That's not me singing. Boy, I'm stupid.
Starting point is 00:43:52 I thought that was you singing the whole time. That is someone that agrees. Yeah. Okay. So she's singing on it. Okay. It sounded like Saraya at first. And one of the producers was like,
Starting point is 00:44:01 it's giving empire, Soraya. But then I was like, no, no, no, no, no. That has to be you. And then I literally said, well, what if she's not singing? And she's just doing the spoken word part.
Starting point is 00:44:10 And you're literally just doing the spoken word part. Okay. How did you guys? come about doing that and hopping on the song with it so I went into the studio and Q who's in the room yeah he kind of convinced me and then like I started just working on a bunch of different songs and I winds it up doing this song with Cortay hitmaker and sign with Rough Riders for this single so putting it out and yeah I just creatively sat in the studio and did it literally I mean you come from of course you know you're everyone the daughter Jojo sister they never inspired you to get in the
Starting point is 00:44:41 studio? I never wanted to do. I didn't, I wasn't thinking about it, but I do love music because music is like everything. I used it to do everything. And so I just felt the creative bug and I went in the studio. I started this like two years ago in the process. So I have a couple of different ones, but this one I felt like I really felt led to put out. Never like, Russell Simmons is your uncle and you never felt like going in the studio ever. Nah, I shied away from it. I just wasn't like, I just like, nah, let me not. Let me let let them head it. That's what I was thinking. So you're doing a whole project or just I'm going to do a whole project for sure.
Starting point is 00:45:13 And is it going to be strictly spoken word? Are you going to have other artists coming to sing? Other artists? It's really about, like, I started off doing it because of like meditation and healing and stuff. So like meditation stuff and just things that inspire and uplift. And then like I got further and further in and I'm like, Jada's on this with me? Like I'm really doing it out. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:45:31 Like so it's going to be a mix, definitely. The project's going to be a mix of different artists and myself. You said you felt led to put this one out. And I know the song is talking about being in the maze and figuring things out. We've watched you go through various things over the years. Why now did you think that the spirit led you here? Like, is there a sense of healing that you were in? I was like timing and alignment.
Starting point is 00:45:50 It was right timing for me. Like I said, I've been working on it for a while. And it just all of the pieces started coming together. Like, Rough Riders coming and being a part of it. Me finally ready to just put the music out there. And it was timing for me. It is interesting because, you know, with somebody with your last name, you get into the music industry,
Starting point is 00:46:05 people automatically think legacy. Did growing up around music make this feel inevitable? or did they make you hesitate because of expectation? I feel like at first I definitely, because of expectations, wouldn't touch music at all. But I'm so creative that I can't help myself. You know what I mean? Like, I was like, I'm gonna do it and this is what I'm gonna give.
Starting point is 00:46:23 And I think it's dope. I love it. So what do y'all think of it? I don't like it. I listen to it again now. To me, it sounds like a theme song to like a drama series. Like something 50 would put on power or one of those.
Starting point is 00:46:35 I do. I really see that for it. Thank you. In my mind, I was like, This ain't Angela's saying. I'm like, I'm like, she's saying she sounds this good and she ain't never saying ever in life. She's tripping and she ain't been to the student.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Now it's not you so. That's what I got to listen to again. It's a different letter. I got to listen. No, no, no, I just got to hear it again. I'm going to re-listen down. I was you singing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:59 I'm like, dang, like that. I listened to all of it. Everything from the artist, your part and Jada, I thought it flowed great. Thank you. Yeah. What's your pop sing? He likes it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:08 He's happy for me. Did he know you were doing it or was one of those things like, Dad played this while we're in the car? It was one of those things where I just called him the next day. I was like, I was in the studio. He's like, working what? You know what I mean? But I sent to him and he's super supportive.
Starting point is 00:47:20 He loves it. He loves jade on it. He likes the video. You guys probably haven't seen the video yet. No. Yeah, we did a video. So we did the whole thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Some people will say Angela Simmons is already successful. So why music? Is it about passion, expression? Proving something to yourself? Passion, expression, creativity. Just doing what I want to do and not letting people put me in a box. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:47:40 Like, I do what I want because I want to do it, not because I'm supposed to do things a certain way. So for me, it's like, I'm just doing me. So what do you enjoy doing? Because we've seen the Angeles cakes, we've seen the shoes. And that's still live and active. We've seen the music. So what do you enjoy to do the most?
Starting point is 00:47:54 Or it's just entrepreneurship? All of it. Like, I think that's the thing about being an entrepreneur. It's like a lot of times people tell you can only do one thing. And I'm like, oh, that's hard for me because, like, I do multiple things just naturally. Wake up, work out. I'm in wellness.
Starting point is 00:48:07 What can I do about it? my real life, you know what I'm saying? So I think it's just being creative and being able to be a creator. Like, I'm a creator. That's just what I do. What things, what lessons that you've learned all these years in business are you bringing into like Angela Simmons, the artist? Well, it's Angela Renee. That's my name as an artist, right? But as an artist, it's just like letting myself flow and be whatever that is. Like, I don't think there's no cap on how I can do this thing. And I do feel like it's a different lane that I haven't seen out there. Like, I'm mixing myself with other artists and then I'm coming in and doing like a spoken word part which I have
Starting point is 00:48:39 not seen done like I've never heard anything like what I'm putting out you know as far as how unique it is so yeah just allowing myself to flow in that and be who I am. I'm doing spoken word man like I started the music stuff like two years ago so like I've been in the studio and I just started working on multiple different sounds because for me I like so many different things in music you know what I mean it's not like I don't like just one genre so I was like I want to hear different stuff and I was in by so many people like Jeanne Eiko and I was listening to these different artists every day like for inspiration and healing and I was like it did something for me like that was like the first thing I was listening to in the morning I'm like I should do my own thing and then I just got like further and further in it. And who's the word used to be so big in the culture like yeah because of things like death poetry yeah you know what I mean but also because of movies like Love Jones I wonder why we got away from that yeah yeah that's true have you ever done it live no but I will I'm ready yeah for sure I was gonna ask you what
Starting point is 00:49:35 When you came up with the concept, who was the first person you told? What were their thoughts? We'd be like, let's do a spoken word on a record with a singer and a rap. I didn't even know what I was doing. I just went in the studio. Cortay, Q and I, started in New York. And then, like, for like a week, I was just going in this. New York.
Starting point is 00:49:52 Oh, my goodness. That accident. That's like, that upstate? That was upstate? That's out of Boston and Memphis together. Yeah. It's all of a sudden, New York. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:50:01 I was like, where did that come from? I'm sorry, guys. In New York, yeah. New York. Yeah, I don't have no Memphis no more. Yeah, I mean, you know. Hello. Well, anyway, so I was in New York, and so we went in the studio,
Starting point is 00:50:15 and there was just, like, different beats, and I got to sit there and, like, just play with them. Like, I went in the booth, and I didn't write anything down. I was thinking I was going to write, and it just flowed straight up, out my head, whatever I was thinking. And I did that for multiple days, and then I just kept going with it. And when did Jady Kiss get on there? He got on it maybe, like, at least 12 months ago.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Set with HitMaker and then HitMaker hit Jada and Jada jumped on in like less than a week. Did he just hear what you had already done? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. And then he did something. Mm-hmm. Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:44 I think you should do a Spoken Word tool because like Charlotte said, we got away from it. And I feel like a live event like that. That's so intimate. That's so like that's a connection with people. Like, you know, that's why I said you ever done it live. Oh, I want to. Spoken Word events. Oh, I want to.
Starting point is 00:51:01 I already have some big plans for how even when a roll this stuff. going forward. I just love live music. I love music. I love the culture. Even like the young lady Reza who's on it, like having her part of it. Her voice is incredible. I was like, let's leave you on this. You know what I mean? Like I think it's dope. You're already dope on it. She's a writer. So like I just, I love using my platform for stuff like that. Yeah. How do you prepare yourself for the criticism that might come with, you know, now, you know, I don't, I just don't care about criticism. I am so used to public opinion and I've been around it so long that I don't care. It's like they're going to have their opinion about me regardless.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Good, bad, ugly, you know what I mean? I feel like I am who I am. So I really care. I'm ready for whatever. How'd the Rough Riders thing come about? That's like family and it's like it just naturally flowed, like wise like family. And Rough Riders, you know, my family history with them and the legacy behind that. So it's kind of like naturally just flowed.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Like I already started working on my project independently and I went to them and talked to them. And we just kind of came together and, That's what we do. That's how we got to the single deal. What do you want people to learn about you that they don't already know from the music? What story can you tell with the spoken word that you haven't told of it? I just think more depth of who I am. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:52:17 Seeing me on a different creative level outside of just like what has been seen. I feel like they'll see just more of me. Like the people that I do know, the interactions I do have with these people who sit down, have these different connections and mixing sounds and just doing something that's different. but you know that's what i'm hoping they'll get from it are you well it seems like you're like in a really good place like just energy wise i feel like this song went you out on that tour are you ready to have the conversations with the women that come that connect to being in that maze and trying to figure out so many different things because you've kind of healed from a lot of the
Starting point is 00:52:49 things that you've been through absolutely i feel like that's one of my major things is doing stuff like this so that i can help people heal you know what i mean i think everyone's always at a different space in their life when it comes to healing we're always healing everyone's always healing from something so Linear. Yes, like, you've got to heal. So, like, I would love to have those conversations, and I want people to heal, and I want people to look themselves.
Starting point is 00:53:09 And, you know, like in the song, I'm saying, look yourself in the mirror. Because how long can you run from yourself? You know what I mean? I feel like people run from themselves all the time, every day. And we find things to cover up for it, whether that be a substance, whether that be love, whether that be, people find stuff all the time to run from the truth of themselves. So I'm definitely ready to have those conversations. So the success, the heartbreak, the motherhood, that's all going to be reflected in this
Starting point is 00:53:29 whole thing. Everything. I mean, wherever I'm at in my life. I think that's the good part about the booth. It's like an open diary. Whatever may come from there, that's what it's going to be. And then the collaboration with other artists and coming together, like, that's a whole different world. Is it there a therapeutic for you?
Starting point is 00:53:43 It is. Okay. I would go in there, have my candles lit and maybe a glass of wine. You know what I mean? Like, I was like, I had my request. We got to have lights a certain. I like dark. And then the light, it's just a whole thing.
Starting point is 00:53:55 And I prefer to record in the evenings. Yeah. It's just like a better thing for it. Watching you on Angie Martinez a few, it was like seven, eight months. months ago and then hearing this song I was like I wonder if she's ever thought like their spoken word but you know people do not a podcast but kind of like live conversations too like when I watch your Angie Martinez I feel like I learned so much more about Angela Simmons the adult versus the Angela Simmons I used to watch online and just watch on television
Starting point is 00:54:19 and I think a lot of people there's a disconnect sometimes there where they don't huge huge disconnect um because they again they seen me at 17 growing up on TV so they're kind of stuck in at 17 So even when I do grown things, it's like foreign to everybody. Oh, you've grown up. Duh. Like you missed about 20 years of my life. But you know what I'm saying? It's like I think there's definitely a disconnect
Starting point is 00:54:40 and knowing who I truly am. And I don't feel led to have to push it. It's like as long as I'm out there and y'all begin to see more of it, then you'll learn who Angela Renee is and Angela Simmons is a student review. So you still feel like people are judging you based on who you were at 19 instead of who you are now?
Starting point is 00:54:56 They do. Absolutely. They do. You still see it on swim. put on swimsuits at all. Yeah, I remember that she put on a swimsuit. I'd be like, this is ridiculous. If anyone else puts on a swimsuit or if anyone else, like even today, I have this on the thongs out.
Starting point is 00:55:11 That's risky for that, like, risque, like for people to see me like that. And I'm like, do you know how old I am? I have a whole child. Like, you're kidding me? I'm not looking, but they're the thong out. That's what I'm sure. You know, like, you're not like, well, you know the girls with the jeans and you showed a little like thong on the side. No, no, no, no, no, no, I don't need to see.
Starting point is 00:55:26 Go. She's giving an artist. But the reason. The reason. I'm asking for that. The reason you act like that is because he's seen around 17 and that's Rev's door. It's fire. But regardless, it's even worse.
Starting point is 00:55:37 People have things to say about it. That's right. He said showing off fire. You look good. Always look at me. Look at me. If I saw my accident, that's different. But the look now is kind of crazy.
Starting point is 00:55:49 It's like an outfit thing that people do. But you got to, you got to train you. You got to do your thing. But you have to carry a certain level of confidence. Don't get no ideas. Shut up. I just want to say that. I just want to be ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:55:59 I don't want you to know that. I don't want you to be inspired. Okay, focus. Red work. Do you have to have a certain level of confidence to do and push through? Just even the way people critique what you wear, the fact that you're grown now or whatever. And meeting you, not meeting because I've met you before, but seeing you here today, after watching all that online, it's like you are completely unfazed. You like pop up.
Starting point is 00:56:22 Let me show you. Totally unfazed. Like, but is it always unfaced? Because your responses are so loud sometimes. I just don't care simply. Like, I really don't care what anyone has to say. Like, I, to me, like, if I'm straight in my world and everything's good, then why am I concerned about with anybody, the public or an audience has to say? As long as my son's straight, my family good, my friend's good, and I'm happy, hey, y'all could talk all day.
Starting point is 00:56:48 Was it tough for you when you decided to talk about the split with Goddy? Because that got a lot of conversation too. I just had to, you know, I mean, I guess because we were public, you know, together. I understand so people had conversations about it but no not really you know what I mean I don't think there's nothing bad there love them to death like so there's no problems it's just you know publicly when things happen
Starting point is 00:57:08 and you are public figuring things happen people are curious what happened oh no not tough at all the funny thing is when you walked in here the first thing I said was like yo whatever happened to her sister where's her sister everyone always asked about my sister she is in California
Starting point is 00:57:23 she's not tuck but she's she's doing a lot She just actually, my brother Jojo has his podcast, and she just joined him. So now they're like co-host together. But she's into movies that are coming out. She stays in her own world too. I think that's just the thing. Like sometimes you just don't see her as much because she's not like socially out everywhere. It's interesting because like a lot of influences launch brands now, but y'all were doing it way before it was like a trendy thing.
Starting point is 00:57:47 You think people underestimated you and your sister's business mindset early on? I think it had never been done. Again, like it was a new lane. like girls, female, young girls putting out sneakers wasn't a thing. When you walked inside of foot locker and all these things, you weren't seeing the sneakers that we were putting out. And we were literally 17, 18, like young doing it. But they may have underestimated it until it, like, did what it did.
Starting point is 00:58:12 What happened to the pastry line? It just, it ended. Y'all sold it or? No, we were working with another company, so it was a license. And they, it's still, so they have its own thing, but it's not, we're not affiliated with it. Got you. I built that up too, though. I mean, had rappers rapping about it.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Yeah. It's true. Yeah. We did build that up. That was a fun run. Did you purposely leave, well, obviously you purposely left Simmons off of Angela Renee. Is that because what the pressure is up that comes behind what people expect of you because you are Simmons? No, I just feel like Angela Renee is a different part of me.
Starting point is 00:58:45 You know what I mean? Like more deep, more different conversations than just what you see as Angela Simmons. Like I'll be sharing more. It's a different part of me. And I feel like the two are separate. It's like Angela Simmons, the mom, Angel Simmons, entrepreneur. And then there's like the creative artist, Angela Renee. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:59:02 So it's just a different part of me. Had your son heard you on the music? He did. He likes it. I actually told him I was going on the radio. He said, do people listen to the radio anymore? Damn. I said, 86% in the country.
Starting point is 00:59:13 I know, but I'm just laughing. See? I said, they ask about you. He said, what did they be asking about me? I said, I said, he called me this morning. He's like, um, because he says it's all about business. He got like an art business. I didn't bought him a website.
Starting point is 00:59:26 I said, I'm waiting for you to put enough art on this so we could put it up. He's like, I'm ready. I want my credit card. I'm like, bro. I want my credit card. Bank card. How old is baby boy now? Nine.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Nine. I ain't think of nobody listening to radio. No. Canadian women are looking for more. More to themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world are at them. And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast. I'm Jennifer Stewart. You know Roll Doll, the writer who thought up Willie Wonka, Matilda, and the BFG. But did you know he was also a spy? Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been.
Starting point is 01:00:18 Our new podcast series, The Secret World of Roll Doll, is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life. His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans. What? And he was really good at it. You probably won't believe it either. Okay, I don't think that's true. I'm telling you, the guy was a spy.
Starting point is 01:00:37 Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelt's? Played poker with Harry Truman and had a long affair with a congresswoman. And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock before writing a hit James Bond film. How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful? children's author ever, and what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids. The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote. Listen to the secret world of Roll Dahl on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 01:01:59 Hi, this is Joe Winterstein, host of the Spirit Daughter podcast, where we talk about astrology, natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life. And I just sat down with a mini driver. The Irish traveler said when I was 16, you're going to have a terrible time with men. Actor, storyteller, and unapestrian. apologetic Aquarian visionary. Aquarius is all about freedom-loving and different perspectives, and I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius are misunderstood. A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership. He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms, on different houses,
Starting point is 01:02:40 and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all. If you're navigating your own transformation or just want to chart-side view into how, a leading artist integrates astrology, creativity, and real life, this episode is a must listen. Listen to the Spirit Daughter podcast starting on February 24th on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast. In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief. The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history. Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict, a villain, a nurse named Lucy Letby.
Starting point is 01:03:26 Lucy Letby has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story? The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses. I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, doubt the case of Lucy Lettby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it, to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Lettby was. No voicing. of any skepticism or doubt.
Starting point is 01:03:51 It'll cause so much harm at every single level of the British establishment of this is wrong. Listen to doubt the case of Lucy Letby on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:04:05 Guess me that? Khalil, did he not? He said that, he's so fast with his mouth. I was like, I'm getting, because he was like on the phone, getting ready for school and I'm like, he's like, I was like, I have radio this morning. People still listen to radio.
Starting point is 01:04:15 Hey, 86% of the country. But the way he said it to me, I was like, little boy. Yeah, I like that person that can really, really hurt your feelings and humble you? He will. He can. Yeah. Do you mind keeping your relationships public?
Starting point is 01:04:29 Does that bother you? Because people are always in your business? It just depends. If it makes sense for me and my partner, like, and that's what we want to do, we can do it. But I don't mind being private and I don't mind being public. It's just about, like, if we sell it, then we good. We don't have nothing else to worry about. But I do see a lot of times when people go public with their relationship goes bad.
Starting point is 01:04:46 But, I mean, I dated publicly for almost three years. So, like, I don't ever think it's about the public more than it's about the home. Like, what's happening at home is way more important than what's happening in public. I feel like you. But they do while famous seems awesome. I was going to really have a choice either. Like, you, when your last relationship, I don't know where you. Oh, we had a choice.
Starting point is 01:05:04 I think we put it out there. But I mean, he got he rapped about you. It was called manifestation. Yeah. People were going to follow your every track, every single movie made. If y'all were even sitting in the same room, it was a story. Like, you know what I mean? Like, before you guys came out.
Starting point is 01:05:20 So that's what I mean, but I don't know if you really had the choice. I think we still had a choice. I think any relationship you want, you could make it private if you really want to. There's just a certain way to move. What was the choice to make it public then? Like, why? I mean, because we was with each other. If I'm with you every day, like, I'm with you.
Starting point is 01:05:34 You're going to see me next to him. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's like, it's public. And I've been rapping about this girl and I got it. Look, so I know it was like real big. And she sounded like Lorela now, so that was really confusing. Shut. All right.
Starting point is 01:05:46 Please. Because now everyone is like, oh, you don't have the accent anymore. I'm like, bro, I think if you're around someone every day, you naturally just stand like this. You start looking like them, standing like them. Like, it just becomes a thing. But I couldn't help it. If I'm talking to someone every day with that accent, it's a heavy accent.
Starting point is 01:06:04 It just, I wasn't trying. Like, I was literally blowing up my mouth. Like, it would me too. When you were talking to Angie Martinez, you said that you and Godd's breakup wasn't your choice, but it was necessary. Was that one of the reasons why? Like, was he not where you were healing why?
Starting point is 01:06:16 No, I think that has nothing to do with it. I think, you know, it was what it was. I have, I really care about him and his family, I really don't talk too much about all that. But, no, I just, it was just, it just made sense at the time for what it was. So what about now? Like, would you do a very big public relationship now or would you, like, how are you walking that line of baby? I was going to get back together.
Starting point is 01:06:40 I was going to say, that's what you're going to ask what I'm saying? Why are you, wait, and now you can see in the future? Yeah. I mean, because the action still there a little bit. It's like a go away, but then you bring it back. I am open to my destiny. I don't speak on what I will or won't do because then you be an idiot. You come back and see this.
Starting point is 01:06:58 You be like, oh, you said never. Like, I never say never. I'm a never-say-never person, though. I learned that once I got pregnant. I said, I'm never saying never again. You just never say never. That's all. You got to post it.
Starting point is 01:07:09 And you and his mom's still super cool. I love his whole family. They're amazing. They're amazing family. They're really good people. I peeped out just being nosy on social. Like, oh, Angela and the mom's still cool. Okay.
Starting point is 01:07:19 You can tell about how you talk about the situation, though, that there's still a lot of love there. I have high respects. She's angry. She's not bitter or anything. But I don't, I'm not even that person, though. Like, if I stop dealing with a person, I guarantee they don't have a problem with me. Because I'm not, I don't leave bitter. I don't care. I'm going to go work on myself peace.
Starting point is 01:07:34 And I leave in peace, literally. Like, I'm not that girl, and I've never been and never will be. So you're not opposed to spending the block? God's destiny. I'm always open to what's destined for me. Okay. you know that's the political answer any other questions Jess
Starting point is 01:07:49 no I was just saying because I usually She hit you like the lawyer So back to my original question I just want what's for me The thing is I just want what's for me Absolutely And you never know You never know what I can't
Starting point is 01:08:00 Can you speak for me? That's a good friend see The friend is always the new love I want the new love But just new love and new life So are you opposed to new love No I'm ready Because she's dating somebody
Starting point is 01:08:17 Come on Jess All right I'm dating somebody I'm dating I'm dating I'm dating Okay Means that I'm open to dates
Starting point is 01:08:25 And I have taken dates Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah All right I like love So am I open to love And being in a relationship right now Yeah
Starting point is 01:08:34 As long as they're not like Holding me back or anything Like let me be meeting Yeah That's what you did another rapper All right What you did another rapper Again
Starting point is 01:08:45 You can't say no Okay I'm not necessarily looking necessarily for a rapper. I wasn't looking for a rapper when I winded up with a rapper. But we just winds up together but I'm not opposed.
Starting point is 01:08:57 I'm like very open. I would consider myself an open type of person. I think. Does it peak your interest when they mention you in songs? It's interesting. It's flattering. It's cute. If I like the song, I'm a rapist. Let me see what he looked like. Yeah, I want
Starting point is 01:09:13 to know that. That's important detail. What about if they put your name in a wax song? You listen to the song like, this song's trash. I don't know why they mention money. I don't know if I've been through that quite yet Do you think real growth comes from pain? Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:09:28 You experiencing pain changes you as a person. You're never the same person that's what I will say. After pain, a certain level of pain, you're just a new person. You're transforming, you're becoming a new person after that.
Starting point is 01:09:41 You look at life differently. It depends on the pain, whether that be grief, whether that be a heartbreak. It changes you. It definitely makes you grow though and look at life in a different in a different way.
Starting point is 01:09:53 What part of your healing journey do you think people don't see and do you even care to show them? I don't think they see enough of like the motherhood part for me because I think that's the part of life I didn't sign up for like you don't sign up to be a parent alone. And so like that's constant every day all day being a parent
Starting point is 01:10:10 but like when you're doing it on a different in a different way without like a male that's like you always want to make sure you're doing the right things for, especially a young man. You're like, okay, am I doing this right for you? Is this correct? So I would say when it comes to pain, like, those are the things people don't see. They don't see a lot
Starting point is 01:10:28 of the things. Like, because I've been through a lot. And heartbreak, okay, it's heartbreak. But like, dealing with your child who's like constantly in daddy mode and you don't have dad for him, that's grief. Like, that's like ongoing grief that you have to just deal with. So to me, that's like a different
Starting point is 01:10:43 level of like strength and every day getting up like, okay, we're good. We're going to do this. You know what I mean? What is it like now because he's nine and y'all are having like such bigger conversations because he has so much more questions? Yes. How is it dealing with your own grief but also making sure he's kind of protected or healed from his? It's, I mean, it's difficult.
Starting point is 01:11:00 I'm dealing with his and I deal with that to my best ability and then I deal with mine. And, you know, like the other day, for instance, he wrote me. He's like, I guess his grandfather told him that his dad had a Ford like one of these big trucks. So he asked me for the pictures and I'm like, where'd that come from? But he was like, oh, yeah, that's a dope truck. He just naturally had one in one of those. large truck with the wheels and all that stuff. But just even hearing him asking these things is like,
Starting point is 01:11:22 oh, like you would have loved your dad. Like, y'all were so, like, similar. But, you know, it's just, that's a day-by-day thing. How does your faith help you through the grief? Oh, prayer is everything for me. Like, I don't move without prayer. Me and my son, I'm like, check the Bible app. Did you pray?
Starting point is 01:11:37 We pray at night. That's the one thing. He's still, like, getting bed with me and pray with me before bed. You know what I mean? But my faith is what keeps me grounded and keeps me, like, here. Like, if I didn't have faith, you would be like, is God real? Like, how am I going through all this?
Starting point is 01:11:50 And I'm still okay. But I'm definitely, my faith has grounded me and keeps me rooted and, like, together. Has his father visited him from the other side? Hmm? Has his father visited him from the other side? Dreams probably, yeah. I mean, I feel like maybe Esha and his dreams,
Starting point is 01:12:07 he's definitely, like you said, at the age where it's, like, way more interest in my dad like this. Or, like, you know, and his grandmother, his nana, she's always giving him different stuff. little old cell phones he had or like clothes, little pieces of him. So that helps too. Well, let's get into the record.
Starting point is 01:12:25 Let's play the record. I'm going to let you introduce the record. You get introduced it to the world. Okay. Well, y'all are about to hear Run 2 featuring Jada Kiss and Reza. Do you have a name for the album? No, no project. Just a single right now. It's just a single right now. And you'll wait to see how people think about it before you
Starting point is 01:12:40 start snapping your fingers more in the studio. I'm snapping them regardless here. But I want them to hear this. Okay. All right. Well, it's Angela Simmons, ladies and gentlemen. Angela Renee. Angela Renee, ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:12:50 Don't point at me. Because she just is several times. We don't know if Angela Renee going to sell the... Angela Simmons is going to sell the music, though. Angela Simmons is the business woman and the daughter that we love going on up. Can we say Angela Renee formerly, Angela? No, because she's... That's too much.
Starting point is 01:13:08 Angela Renee. Thank you. It's Angela Renee Simmons. I'm not joking. Hey, it's Angela Mnayne. It's the breakfast slow. Good morning, y'all. Hey, really, stop your talk, L.L. Cubey. Yeah, I'm not dumbering myself down.
Starting point is 01:13:23 I'm being myself. Take me through that. That source is close. I'm the home guard that knows a little bit about everything and everything. Morning. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that. Take me through that.
Starting point is 01:13:36 The latest with Narno knows. Take me through that. On the breakfast club. L.L. Coobin. Talk to me. All right. So as we start the latest this hour, really quick, I wanted to congratulate Two Chains. So yesterday, I saw that he is now a New York Times bestseller.
Starting point is 01:13:53 Let's go, two chains. Congratulations. Yeah, he was just here talking to us about his book. The Voice in My Head is God via Black Privilege Publishing. So congratulations on him, that book, or to him, that book dropped March 3rd, and it details his life and career that gut feeling and that voice inside his head that tells him to do all these things that has got his success. And he actually posted about the voice in his head telling him to write this book. Let's take a listen to that really quick.
Starting point is 01:14:16 Ooh, they just told me, brother. They just told me I'm a New York Times bestseller. Arthur Tony. I'm a New York Times bestseller, boy. The voice in my head is God and told me to write the book. Something told me I already I were going to. Somebody had already told me I was going to do this, though. Am I surprised?
Starting point is 01:14:35 No. True. Thank you, man. A black man who decided to write a book about his spirituality and about how God, has guided him throughout his life and now he's a New York Times bestseller. Drop on the clues bonds for two chains, damn it. Exactly. Congratulations to two chains.
Starting point is 01:14:49 Yes, indeed. Congratulations to him. Yeah, and as we move on into other news, just real quick, I know Mimi mentioned this in front page news, and we were talking about the potential or alleged retaliation that's supposed to happen in California because everything that's happened in Iran with the drone strikes. You guys mentioned the Oscars. I wanted to say really quickly that the Oscars actually did have to address that. one of the heads of the Oscars,
Starting point is 01:15:14 or the executive producer of the Oscars, named is Raj Kapoor. He was asked about that in a press conference, like, what will security be like this year? And he basically said, we do big level security every single year.
Starting point is 01:15:24 We pay attention to world events every single year. But of course, we're monitoring what's going on. There are reports that security is heightened. I think it just means they're on alert. But the Oscars will go down this Sunday. Conan O'Brien is hosting,
Starting point is 01:15:35 and it's been business as usual, you know, since that conversation. And they've got to keep that guy with Tourette out of there. Okay. He's the big attention. He's the biggest terrorist terroristic threat to the Oscars, okay?
Starting point is 01:15:44 Because Michael B. Jordan is going to win Best Actor, and I think Delroy Linda's going to win Best Supporting Actor. I think Ryan Cooghle is going to win best director. Tiana Taylor. I think Tiana Taylor's going to win for one battle after another two. Yes. I don't think that's not wishful thinking.
Starting point is 01:15:57 I really truly believe that. I think it's going to be a big Oscar Sunday for all of us on our side of things. I'm excited to tune in. Nobody dropping no end words from the audience, okay? At all. All right? None.
Starting point is 01:16:08 Not whatsoever. Well, yesterday, speaking of things, drop-end or dropping or maybe not. There were some songs, it's like small snippets that were leaked that fans believe will be on Drake's Iceman project that he has coming out. Now, I'm going to tell you guys this. The reason why fans believe so strongly that these are not just like throwaways or not really going to be on Iceman is because the same way that these were leaked, the same
Starting point is 01:16:30 discord that leaked these songs is the same discord that leaked some songs from some sexy songs for you, which was Drake's last project. Now, in one of the songs, Drake takes a shot at Serena Williams. Let's take a listen to that. Serena, but I'm cool with Venus. I be hanging around these things like I'm doing a leaper. I might hit up like a cool boy and do a remit. Because you put your ends on, but they make it penis.
Starting point is 01:16:54 We don't ever piece it up. We should we got between us. He came at Kendrick again on that too when he said, I might do a remix with School Boy Q or whatever it was. Yeah. Don't nobody care. What? The Lord of the Lord of Daddy.
Starting point is 01:17:05 Who cares? You think nobody can. People want to hear that. Iceman. People definitely care about Dr. I don't care about him dissing Kendrick. That's like trying to reheat cold french fries two years after the fact. Yeah, that part.
Starting point is 01:17:16 Yeah, that part. I don't care. And dissing Serena. Like, I don't care. And the song sounded kind of weak. Well, there's a, there's a second one that we, there were actually three that were leaked yesterday. I wouldn't say the song signed week, but I agree with you. Like, I don't want to hear him dissing nobody.
Starting point is 01:17:27 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Normally, you're not. It's not enough. It's just a leak we can't hear. You're like, nobody care already.
Starting point is 01:17:36 We don't want to hear for that from them. Okay. Very specific. Who cares? In the words of your daddy. Shut up. Let's take a listen to the second audio that was leaked. Got bigger than what's in my mind.
Starting point is 01:17:47 I'll take it an eye for an eye. I sent a boy up to the sky. I still haven't lost any sleep. And I definitely didn't cry. Yeah, right. Goochie get back in a ride because that's definitely not the guy. Mistaken identity mixed with adrenaline almost just kiss you. He definitely lost sleep and he definitely cried.
Starting point is 01:18:04 That last nip at shoulder. Okay. Yeah, Fran. You still talking about. Serena and Kendrick two years later, you definitely lost sleep and you definitely cried. You don't have to act up for us, Drake. Wow. Did you ask OVO, Eli, if this was new or if this was old?
Starting point is 01:18:17 I did ask OVO Eli, and OVO Eli also is one of the fans who believes that this is real because of the discord that leaked it. Like, the fans are like, listen, the last time this happened, it led into some sexy songs for you. So the fans really believe that this is a real thing. But one of the songs. Eli is jumping up and down in the other studio right now. He's so happy. Yeah. He's acting like Drake's penis is in there.
Starting point is 01:18:36 He's jumping up and down on. One of the songs, though, that was leaked yesterday, though, Eli pointed out to me, and a lot of the fans were saying online, too, that that was, like, something that was old. So I don't know. But Drake changed his Instagram photo to a throwback photo, Lil Wayne, too. So people think that he's gearing up for release. Finally, we're going to get the Iceman.
Starting point is 01:18:53 I mean, yeah, people are definitely anticipating it. People definitely want to hear it, you know. Somebody told me they actually heard it yesterday. Did they say it was good? Is there was fire? They didn't say whether it was good at night. They said Future was on it, though. Oh, dope.
Starting point is 01:19:04 Oh, okay. Yeah. So you didn't ask that it was good enough? They said they heard the album. I didn't care. Yeah. And they probably know he didn't care. So they didn't know for that.
Starting point is 01:19:13 Nothing will ever get you excited about Drake. Like, all right. Well, I like when he raps, though. I just haven't, you know, heard anything that's moving me lately. You talk, just, I like when the rap still sounds like, go ahead. Do that a little dance that you be doing with your friends. Listen, Drake is a talented artist.
Starting point is 01:19:28 There's no doubting that. I'm just like, you know, nothing has been exciting. But Iceman won't be the breakthrough that he needs to kind of move us away from. Drake is Drake is Drake. Like, we keep saying breakthrough and all like, Drake is Drake. A great artist. Yes. But you know what I mean.
Starting point is 01:19:43 But he needs a narrative shift. Guys, we're talking like Drake is, wasn't still on the charts last year. No, Drake is huge. Drake is the worst ever and that he fell off. Drake is one of the ones. But he still needs a narrative shift right or wrong. Like, that's what you're looking for. Listen, Kendrick changed his narrative forever.
Starting point is 01:19:59 I mean, that's a fact. But that don't mean that he's still not a great artist. But Kendrick definitely changes narrative for ever. Damn, you don't think he can change it back? No. He's still a great artist though But that ass kicking is a forever ass kicking I believe it
Starting point is 01:20:14 It just is what it is All right well we'll be looking out for some more tidings or maybe the actual drop-up Some sexy songs for you All right Thank you Lauren You should just be Aubrey now Cole Arbery
Starting point is 01:20:25 It should just be Aubrey Jesus Christ All right now don't forget next hour Just Fix My Mess 885105-1 If you need just to fix your mess You could get on the phone lines right now But Shalerman you got donkey coming up Man, far after the hour, a young lady named Amber Snow needs to come to the front of the congregation.
Starting point is 01:20:41 And this is why people should always have the right to choose. And when I say right to choose, it is not your choice on whether or not somebody else gets to carry a baby. Okay. We'll get into that next. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. I was born a donkey. It's the donkey of the devil. Bunch of a f***ie that. For the donkey at a day.
Starting point is 01:21:04 That's pretty fun. Charlamine the devil. The Breakfast Club Yes, don't here today for Thursday, March 11th, goes to a 36-year-old Iowa woman named Amber Snow. Amber was taken into custody this week in charge with two counts each of administering harmful substances to an adult
Starting point is 01:21:23 and administering harmful substances to a juvenile, as well as one count each of attempted non-consensual termination of a pregnancy and controlled substance violation, all of which are felonies. Now, I was born in 1978, okay? 47. I've seen a lot. But I've never heard of these charges. None of them ring a bell until I got to the non-consensual termination of a pregnancy part. And I said to myself, oh, she tried to kick a pregnant woman down the stairs.
Starting point is 01:21:49 See, that's what people used to say back in my day when they didn't want the woman to keep the baby, okay, kick a pregnant woman down the stairs and hopes that the trauma to the abdomen during pregnancy can lead to a miscarriage. Yes, sadly, there are people out there who think and do things like that. And Amber Snow is one of them. Would you like to hear why Amber Snow is getting donkey of the day today? Well, let's go to News 19 for the report, please. A woman has been charged into Cora, Iowa, for allegedly tainting a lasagna with oxycodone in an effort to force a miscarriage. Amber Snow was arrested and charged earlier today with charges that included felony counts of delivering a controlled substance and administering a harmful substance to an adult as well as a juvenile. According to the Wintersheed County Sheriff's Office, Snow tainted the lasagna.
Starting point is 01:22:34 with oxycodone in December and then gave it to another family member. Officials say that the case is still being investigated and additional charges and arrests are imminent. Snow is being held currently on a $100,000 cash bond. She delivered a drug-laced tray of lasagna to a pregnant family member to cause a miscarriage. Okay, spiked it with oxycodone, hoping it would cause a miscarriage. First of all, why lasagna? Okay, I love a good lasagna, but I'm lactose intolerant, and the cheese gives me dairy bump.
Starting point is 01:23:03 So the cheese is tricky. Okay, why didn't she try like a suspicious shepherd's pie or a passive aggressive peach cobbler? Okay, this whole plot sounds like something from a dark sitcom or a bad true crime podcast. And it honestly wasn't that good. Okay, this plan depends on a lot of unlikely things happening in order for this to work.
Starting point is 01:23:22 For example, your family member would have to actually eat the lasagna. Okay, she would have to eat the drug-laced portion. Nobody else in the house is going to notice a question the food. God forbid someone else. the house was hungry and the drug would actually somehow have to cause the miscarriage. Okay, that's an extremely unreliable chain of events. All right. Trust me when I tell you, someone from the 1900s is thinking to themselves, kicking it down
Starting point is 01:23:45 the steps would be way more effective. Also, oxycodone isn't a typical miscarriage drug. It's a painkiller. Okay, not something used to induce miscarriages. So the idea that it would reliably cause pregnancy termination is very questionable. Okay? I'm not trying to give anybody any ideas, but, you know, There's this thing called Penny Royal tea.
Starting point is 01:24:05 You know how I found out about Penny Royalty? Because I once read a Huffington Post article titled Nine Ancient Abortion Method, so terrible, you'll be even more grateful for the right to choose. And Penny Royal is actually a type of mint, but it's a very successful abortion drug, okay? It was so deeply poisonous, in fact, that just five grams of it could be toxic. All right? Then there was the jumping and kicking yourself in the ass method. Y'all don't want to hear about that. What?
Starting point is 01:24:32 No. No. I'll tell you anyway. Hippocrates was a famous Greek physician who was heavily against abortion, but he recommended a technique that actually became popular when folks wanted to control, Alt delete the baby. He would tell them to jump up and down, touching their buttocks with their heels, you know, at every leap.
Starting point is 01:24:48 And apparently they would do that until the embryo became loose and fell out. See, if you did that, you would have to pretend to be her personal trainer. That's the only way you would get her to participate in such an exercise. But I'm not here to give anyone out there any ideas. Okay, this woman, Amber Snow, was. evil. All right. She did internet searches and electronic communications discussing the plan. How the hell are you sharing recipes for a miscarriage? Okay, what in the fetus killing food network is going on here? You plotting on killing someone's unborn child?
Starting point is 01:25:18 Through lasagna recipes? Let me tell you something, man. This is why you don't let everyone cook for you. Okay, you can't eat from everyone's kitchen. And Amber, Amber's a hater. okay and she was doing this to her family member and Amber's the worst kind of hater she's the type of hater that actually wants to do harm to you it's the type of hater that'll kill you if they want to kill your unborn child and when people are full of hate
Starting point is 01:25:45 they will try to poison anything good in someone else's life and guess what when you try to sabotage somebody else's life you end up sabotaging your own please give Amber Snow the biggest he-ha Jesus That is disgusting And that is not the first time that girl did it
Starting point is 01:26:05 And Amber is white You want to play a game? Let's play a game Let's play a game Guess what RACTS is All right Amber Snow was taken in the custody this week
Starting point is 01:26:18 Because she decided to deliver a drug-laced tray of lasagna To a pregnant family member to cause a miscarriage Just hilarious Guess what? Racial She's white. Why do you say that? Because her last name's Snow?
Starting point is 01:26:33 Yes, and I remember watching Three's Company, and it was a character on there. Her name was Christmas Snow. And yeah, Chrissy Snow was her name. So, yeah, last name's Snow, you white. You gotta go. Okay. DJ Envy. Amber Snow was taken into custody this week because she delivered a drug-laced tray of lasagna
Starting point is 01:26:50 to her pregnant family member to cause a miscarriage. Guess what? Racial! What? Racians! Corkasian. Damn. Why are y'all so short?
Starting point is 01:27:00 Do you all listen to True Crime Podcast? Yes. And then I watch it on ID Channel. Okay. Okay. Well, DJ NB, Jess O'Larice, I want both of you to know that. You are absolutely correct. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:27:13 Big Caucasian. Okay, meth for breakfast. Maybe a little crack for lunch. Yeah, she definitely lived behind a dollar general. She had oxycodone in her back pocket. All right. That's what she got it from. She didn't have to go in the way to get it.
Starting point is 01:27:25 All right. That is. Oh, thank you for that. donkey of the game. Jesus. Oh, my God. When we come back, Jess fix my mess.
Starting point is 01:27:34 Now, Jess has a book that comes out April 28th. You know what's so crazy. She's in all types of mess. Look at her. She got a hoodie on. She got a Tim Burton the night before Christmas hoodie on.
Starting point is 01:27:42 And she looked like one of the characters from a Tim Burton movie. Yes, she looked like somebody you were finding a vacant house in a read. Oh, my God. Off the wire. She definitely. She definitely was like she'd be in a vacant house.
Starting point is 01:27:53 Yes. Just sitting there. Back and dumb. Like, what am I doing here? Why are you in my house? Excuse me? It's not your house. No lights, no nothing.
Starting point is 01:28:02 Fix my mess is next, guys. 800-585-105-105.1 is the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning everybody is DJ NV. Jess Hilarius. Salomey Nagy, we are the breakfast club. It's time for Jess Fix My Mess. Hello, who's this?

Starting point is 01:28:22 Good. So pretty much I am in a new relationship. It's probably about six months. now and I'm actually very happy. I left my up like seven months ago because I was unhappy. He thinks I left him because of a new guy and things like that. That's not the case. But now he's still over because he has, I was a breadwinner, I guess you could say.
Starting point is 01:28:43 I was only one working. So now he's homeless, living from, I guess, house to house. And he thinks that I owe him money out of my income tax. And I need to give him money where he's like threatening to make my life home. and I guess his cousin's seen where I live now and wants to come home college problems pretty much and I just want to know what I should do I am like so stressed out about it
Starting point is 01:29:06 I don't want to affect my new relationship my new boyfriend has a son that's five or so I have to take care of him I just don't want any drama right right right right okay so you are seven months broken up from this guy and you are in a new relationship and he is coming after you seven months later after money because he's homeless and he can't get his own
Starting point is 01:29:29 shit together so he's coming at you exactly yep the whole town here together with the same stuff like you know i mean i was only one working paying the bills and that was part of the reason i left but he was also abusive oh okay okay so you left him for a ton of reasons well you know it was a conglomerate of reasons obviously um yeah and please believe him when he says he is trying to make your life a living hell um and because that because you the newest tracks Let's go. A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership. He really has taught me to embrace people sleep. in different rooms, on different houses, and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all. Listen to the Spirit Daughter podcast, starting on February 24th, on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast.
Starting point is 01:33:22 In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief. The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history. Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict, a villain, a nurse named Lucy Letby. Lucy Letby has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story?
Starting point is 01:33:48 The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses. I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, Doubt the case of Lucy. Lettby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Lettby was. No voicing of any skepticism or doubt. It'll cause so much harm at every single level of the British establishment of this is wrong. Listen to Doubt, the case of Lucy Lettby on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. are like a mother figure to your stepson.
Starting point is 01:34:26 You don't want any drama. But just minus the stepson. You don't want any drama in your life, period. Have you gone to local authorities? Because he is clearly threatening you. You got out of a relationship because he put his hands on you. He was abusive. And like I said, please believe a person when he tell you something like that,
Starting point is 01:34:44 especially if they've acted in a way similar before. I definitely believe him. definitely agree with him. I haven't gone yet. I have left into it because I definitely want to get a PSA and make sure I just don't think that it's going to stop him. He's one of those people I just don't just not going to stop him. Yeah, I'm talking about you got to be
Starting point is 01:35:02 beating down a precinct door. Like, I'm serious because I feel like law enforcement doesn't take these types of cases serious until it's too late or until it's almost too late, right? And that's honestly because, you know, we don't follow up like we should. You know,
Starting point is 01:35:19 a lot of women and a lot of men don't follow up like they should. Like, you know, you think you call once or twice or whatever. Like, no, I'm talking about like your life depends on it because it ultimately does. Like, go to the court, go to the police, show them, like, keep a record of, is he threatening you, like, on the phone, text messages, emails, whatever? Yes, text messages. Yes, keep a record of it all. I'm serious, girl, because I do not want anything to happen to you or that beautiful baby that you're helping your boyfriend raise. Do not.
Starting point is 01:35:47 Do not play with that at all. I'm glad you got out of that relationship, though. Yeah, I'm a lot happier. So, I mean, at the end of the day, it was well worth it. And he doesn't know this yet, and this is the other thing, but I am pregnant. So, yeah, you know, I don't want, obviously, anything to happen to me or this baby. So that's the main, you know, the main thing. And I wanted to have another child for a while, so I'm probably in a good place where I can have this child.
Starting point is 01:36:14 So we're excited. We're excited. Girl, don't let him tell you that because then you really going to want to kill you. Because it's not his. Yeah. Yeah, I know. That's why I've been avoiding, you know. He's like, oh, I haven't seen you around.
Starting point is 01:36:23 And I'm like, and you won't. And you won't. I agree with you. But I'm serious when I say, do not respond. You take that. You are pregnant. You are a woman. You are, listen, you are pregnant.
Starting point is 01:36:34 You are a woman in distress and you scared for your life. I'm talking about play it just like that. Even if you anger, you bet to act like he outside your door at night. Every night. Go to the police. Go to the courts and stay on them, girl. I want you to be safe. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 01:36:46 No problem, honey. Have a good time. Thank you. Congratulations on your baby. Absolutely. Thank you so much. No problem, I know. Thank you guys. All right, bye, guys.
Starting point is 01:36:55 Bye, bye now. Hello, who's this? Hey, I'm here. I love, Uncle Shala, DJ NBN. Hi. We're going to kind of remain anonymous to this one. Okay. Well, we can't see you.
Starting point is 01:37:07 What's your question for Jess? Okay. Okay. So, my, um, me and my husband have been together ever since we were 17. Mm-hmm. So we've been together for a long time. So there's a graduation requirement for my son that has to be done.
Starting point is 01:37:23 And I needed to use his phone. So while I had his phone, there's a text message that comes through. I don't feel so good. So when I saw the text message, I never responded. I never said nothing to him at all. But then the next day he comes home and he sick, wanted me to take care of him because he's sick. Wait a minute. You said, just son, or no, you're sick.
Starting point is 01:37:47 husband? My son, we were doing a graduation requirement for my son. So I had his phone in my hand so we can get the graduation requirement done. But while I had his phone, a text message was through, babe, I don't feel so good. So he don't know. I saw the text message that said, babe, I don't feel so good. Okay. And I never said nothing, but then he came home and he was sick, And I'm like, how did you get sick? It's like, oh, it's like, everybody at the office is sick. I'm like, okay. That just didn't sit right with me.
Starting point is 01:38:27 Absolutely. So I just started getting an attitude. So I just started getting an attitude around the house. Wasn't talking to him or anything. So then I finally said, I said, who is Bill? And he was just like, what are you talking about? I said, well, she said that she wasn't saying good, and now you're not feeling good. and you're around here, like, I'm supposed to take care of you.
Starting point is 01:38:49 He was like, he thinks somebody told me. He still don't know I got a thought of texting him. He thinks somebody told me. He's like, oh, well, whoever's speaking about me, I want to know who it is, I can speak about them. I said, well, you need to talk to your phone because your phone is the one who told me that you, that you were, that she wasn't feeling well. So then I asked them, I said, if it's nobody, why are you so concerned,
Starting point is 01:39:15 if somebody told me something. Yeah. And I said, nobody told me anything if it was your phone. So did you tell your phone what's not to do? Right. So in my head right now,
Starting point is 01:39:25 I'm actually in a room where I'm doing overtime, everything. Mm-hmm. So your parents... Yeah, so your mind is just going and going and going and going. And if he's not going to admit anything,
Starting point is 01:39:39 you know how our minds go. We make up stories. We, you know, all we need is a little bit, and we can make a whole movie, out of a little bit. Yes, that's what I'm doing. And I'm like, I'm literally, all the reason, I'm waiting,
Starting point is 01:39:50 honestly, I just got a car. So I'm waiting six months so I can refinance my car to a smaller car note and then I'm gone. That's my mindset right now. Oh my God, you're already out the door at the end of the movie, and your movie, you already out the door.
Starting point is 01:40:04 Yeah, and that's where I'm at because if I can't trust you to even tell me the truth, I can't trust you if you say that you're really leaving her alone or if you were ever with her. Oh, and I say little bit. Yeah. I said with stuff like, oh, how's your girl feeling? He's like, I don't have a girl.
Starting point is 01:40:19 I said, well, somebody's calling you. Hey, he's like, oh, no, that's just the way that they talk around the office. Oh, no, no, no, no. And then what he's doing is he's not, he's so, oh, my God, man can be so dumb sometimes. He's not even taking the hint. You're giving him a chance to just confess whatever it is. Like, yo, do you got a work wife? Is it somebody that you flirt with at work?
Starting point is 01:40:40 Is it something that I'm not doing at home that you feel like that you are able to do at work? something like he and I said that like is there something that I'm not doing that you feel like that you need to talk somebody else no everything is fine or whatever and I'm like no not everything is not fine not for me so it's like I don't know
Starting point is 01:40:58 if I'm being I was being petty by sitting there saying oh you know what a big say about this so I don't know if I was being petty about it but no you're not no you're not you're addressing it because you saw something he's never addressed it he's never taking accountability for it so you're not being
Starting point is 01:41:14 petty. You're just, you know, you're trying to get it out of him and he ain't, and he's not budging. But what you need to tell him, you're going to lose your wife. Like, you're going to lose me. You keep playing around. And I don't know if you are dealing with somebody at work. I don't know if you're, you know,
Starting point is 01:41:31 you and your coworker got some sort of arrangement. That's y'all because she text you and said, babe, when I had your phone. So since we plan this game, I'm letting you know, I'm not a willing player and your ass is about to be divorced. Like I'm about you about to be by yourself so you can be with babe you know
Starting point is 01:41:48 You know freely you got to let him out of it. I'm like I did now one thing I did do is that I went to my best friend and I did say something to her She's been through more stuff than I have I've been with him since I was 17 I'm about to be 42 So it's like we've been in the for a long time and I said I did ask him I said so if you see somebody else call me baby it won't rape class. He said, no, not if you all are good friends.
Starting point is 01:42:18 And I know he's just saying that because he already did it. No, no, no, no, no. No, I don't like it. Babe, I don't feel good. That's weird. That's weird. And you're married. Very weird.
Starting point is 01:42:28 And you're coming from a coworker, so no. But her to even be feeling comfortable to call you, babe. That's what I'm not understanding. And it's not even... And it's not even the situation that's going to make you, like, that's going to push you out the door. It's the fact that he is not taking the... accountability. He acting like everything is fine.
Starting point is 01:42:47 He's like, no, I'm good. Like, no, it's you know, and I don't want you to just walk out the door, you know what I'm saying? But I do want him to come clean. I don't think he's taking you serious and I don't like that. So maybe you need to, maybe he needs to see that you're leaving. I'm not ready
Starting point is 01:43:02 to stop loving him and stuff like that, but it's like, I don't want to be stupid either. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. I know. I don't want you to be stupid, but I don't want him to be stupid either. You know what I'm I get it. But don't let them make you think you crazy.
Starting point is 01:43:19 You know what I'm saying? Even if it's not the end, even if it's really, really what you don't want to do, he needs to wake up and see that. So maybe he need to see you leaving out the door to figure out. Like, look, I just need to come clean with my wife. Because you really don't know what you got until it's gone. That's really a thing, you know?
Starting point is 01:43:36 Yeah. And that's what I was thinking too, but it's like our family is so closely, Nick. I don't want to be like, oh, I'm the bad person because I know. No. You know what I'm. But you wouldn't have, but you wouldn't want to leave if you didn't have a reason. You get what I'm saying. So that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:43:49 Don't, don't think about it too much where you think you're crazy. You're the one overreacting. No. No. Okay. You're not. Okay. No problem, baby.
Starting point is 01:44:00 All right. Thank you so much. I have a good day. Good luck, Mama. Stop calling that woman, Mama. That's somebody else woman and you're calling her mama. Shut up. I call everybody Mama.
Starting point is 01:44:09 And that's the problem. No, the problem. What? He called everybody mama. Yeah, he called everybody mama. What if his, what if Gilles, like, what the hell you calling that woman Mama for? Well, you know, that's the New York thing. He called a woman, mama, he called him in Papa.
Starting point is 01:44:21 He actually called me Dadda. I never said Papa yet. You called Shawla Dada? He called me Dadda. Boy, ew. What are y'all talking about? Don't lie. Just fix my mess.
Starting point is 01:44:31 858-1501. Say it. When we come back, we got to. Who are you giving that donkey to, Dad-Dat? Dad-da. Who are you giving that donkey to, Dad-Dat-da? Dada. Dada.
Starting point is 01:44:40 Morning, everybody. It's DJ NVJ, Jets hilarious. Salameen the guy, we are the breakfast club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren. Lauren becoming a straight fat. Tell her,
Starting point is 01:44:51 lady. She gets them from somebody that knows somebody. She gets to detail. I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything. She'd be having the latest on this. The latest with Lauren La Rosa. Sometimes you have facts,
Starting point is 01:45:04 sometimes you have detail, sometimes you have a little bit everything. Well, it's the latest. Talk to you by Talk Dog Law. On the Breakfast Club. Talk to me. So Dwight Howard has finally broken his silence on all of the allegations. Well, not all of them, just one of them specifically.
Starting point is 01:45:19 He made it very clear via his Snapchat yesterday that he has never done Coke. On Snapchat? Yes. So he posted to a Snapchat yesterday, never done Coke in my life. Y'all will believe everything y'all see on the Internet laugh out loud. Why he's still on Snapchat? Yeah, like, why are he going to say it over there? My ain't going to stop his cocaine.
Starting point is 01:45:38 A lot of people are going to be on Snapchat. You make money on Snapchat. People will be making money on Snapchat. People will be over there, y'all. Yeah, people be over on Snapchat. I mean, I got a deal in the works right now, but we're on Instagram, and they're on Twitter saying he got to go over there and say it. Yeah, well, it made its way over the Instagram once he posted it
Starting point is 01:45:53 because all the people who reported on Amy's video holding the big bag of Coke allegedly posted this. And then he posted another, like, video of himself. His face was all screwed up, and he said, me reading the hate and slander in the comments. And then he went on about his day, you know, in L.A. at the crypto arena. He planned with it, too. It seemed like he is, like, making a joke.
Starting point is 01:46:12 joke out of it too. Like, he's playing. Everybody's been making jokes on. What anybody ever say, yeah, that cocaine was mine. He should have said it was hers, because I can't believe that she showed a half a kilo of cocaine on Instagram and she's not in prison yet. Also, we need Dwight Howard at the Black Effect podcast festival. He'd be great on stage with Jeff Teak of Club Clock Twin. Okay.
Starting point is 01:46:30 That'd be fantastic. That's what you're living in the last book. That's what I'm saying you're right there, Dwight, pull up. There's a lot to talk about. Big line, get around that stage and give it up. Well, in other conversations happening, so E.J. Johnson, who was Magic Johnson's child. Legend.
Starting point is 01:46:45 Yes. So he sat down with Carlos King for reality with the King, another Black Effect podcast. And he's talking about a lot of things. Number one, he says that he does not date gay men. Let's take a listen. One of the biggest story lies on your spinoff was you and your sister liking the same guy. Honestly, that is ultimately what got the show picked up. I don't attract gay men, and I'm not attracted to gay men.
Starting point is 01:47:10 Like, it's just not a thing. You know, like, I'm dating someone. I'm like, I don't care what you identify as or what you call yourself, as long as you're happy being who you are. But no, to be honest, it's like, that's why I don't really go to, I don't go to gay clubs. I don't go to, you know, gay things because it's like, the men that I attract are not there.
Starting point is 01:47:26 It's like, these are not my men in terms of attraction. Now, if I'm just going to have a key key, sure. But, like, these are not the men that are interested in me in that capacity. I do that when I go to the straight rooms. Man, drop one of clues, bombs with EJ. EJ say I don't date gay men but date gay after they date me. Oh so he's turning out. He's like he confused like he ain't never got turned out before.
Starting point is 01:47:50 I know what you're talking. I know now you don't know what I'm talking about. Now those Prince Pants make sense. We got it right that time. EJ threw you in a sis. I bet she threw you that alley-upe, you dunk it. But you know what, I can see why you're saying you confused. But on the women's side, listen, I know studies that feel the same way.
Starting point is 01:48:07 They don't like dating women who, they don't like dating women who, they don't like dating gay women. They like dating. They like to be the first woman that a woman actually dates so they can be gay. So basically, you turn dudes out. Not even, no, no, no. It's not even just. Very clueless like you don't know what he's talking about. He's speaking your language. It's not even just turning guys out. Because this is
Starting point is 01:48:24 a thing that happens a lot in the community. I have a lot of gay male friends who you might not be the first men that they dated, but like you're not openly out or you're still trying to figure out. Like you don't claim to be gay because you're still trying to figure a lot of things out. And a lot of times, a lot of my gay friends,
Starting point is 01:48:40 I was talking to them yesterday about this interview. One of my friends said to me, yeah, if I wanted to date somebody that was super feminine and I would date a woman, like, I want to date a man. So they, I don't know, there's that conversation that happens all the time. But he also talked about the fact that he thinks it's stupid that people thought that he was going to be this big NBA player. Let's take a listen to that. I've always thought that was just stupid that they thought that, like, I was supposed to be playing basketball or something. Like, first of all, like, do you know how difficult it is to become an NBA player, like, number one? And it's like, it's a very hard process.
Starting point is 01:49:10 If I wanted to do that, then I would have done it. But like, I, like, why are we even having this discussion? It's just so ignorant. It's just, it's so, you have to put in a lot of work to do all of that. Like, I'm sure LeBron James's son, I mean, like, you know, he's been playing this entire life. Like, and now he's, you know, he's in the NBA. But I'm like, that's something you would decide very early on in life. Oh, well, black men need to be this and need to be, you know, macho and need to be this.
Starting point is 01:49:36 And it was okay, well, okay, what does. anyone's femininity have to do with that. Well, that was just wishful thinking. You know what I'm saying? You magic Johnson, son. You're the greatest point guard of all times, son, and you got the size. You know what I'm saying? And athletic ability.
Starting point is 01:49:48 Six for three, yes, absolutely. He's six to three. But he looks way taller than six two in person. Yeah, but in his mind, he's probably like, come on, yonnie. Yonnie, like, don't believe. He can be a ballplay. It doesn't matter. That's not what he wanted to do.
Starting point is 01:50:02 He did not want to, you know, shoot. The way he's wording it, he's making it seem like, you know. It's so outrageous. to think. You know, it was just wishful thinking. You were like, oh, that would be dope if Magic Johnson's son played basketball. Plus, we've seen him walk in the hill. He's six five. He's six five guys. And I've seen him move gracefully in some hills. I mean, like a good zeal.
Starting point is 01:50:19 Yes. And I want to mention too, and I mess up because I did say he, but he's also in this interview said that he had a conversation with Magic Johnson and his mom cookie. And they have determined, he told them he doesn't want to be called he, he doesn't want to be called man, he doesn't want to be called gay, or he doesn't want to be called son. And they're just okay with it because that is the rules that he said. I called E.J.
Starting point is 01:50:40 There's going to be called she. I think we just call him E.J. Yes. He just called him E.J. And he's returning back to the limelight of things. And I'm so excited about that because his show was amazing. But speaking of Carlos King and reality with the King. Oh, you're talking a little too much.
Starting point is 01:50:54 But it's okay. The Black Effect Podcast Festival. Because now it's time to talk, all right?
