Starting point is 00:02:06 app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey y'all, Niminy here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and
Starting point is 00:02:21 John Glickman, Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama
Starting point is 00:02:44 who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was Claudette Colvin. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Good morning, USA! USA. Yo, yo, yo couple words for the Florida governor. I think we'll get to it later. Word, word, word. You on the other day too? No. I'm just here with y'all today. I like seeing you at that view desk, man.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Thank you, bro. It feels good. It feels good to be in here too. Absolutely. To be clear. I was waking up at what time? Four in the morning? Today was better.
Starting point is 00:04:00 That's why I'm in a better mood today. You're in a better mood. My body chemistry is getting a little bit more used to it. Okay, cool. All right. Yeah, it's good. We're going to go to some front page news. That's next.
Starting point is 00:04:10 That's next up. What are we talking about? Give us a tease. Yeah, let's do it. The young, young, young brother, Tyree Nichols, laid to rest in Memphis. Words from his mother, I think most importantly, but we also heard from our vice president, Kamala Harris, and the good Reverend Al Sharpton. All right, we'll get to that next thing. Now, let me shout out
Starting point is 00:04:26 to my assistant. Her name is Mercedes. Mercedes! Leave her bangs alone. Big Bang Sadies! He calls her Big Bang. She has bangs and they're like big. They need to draw them back like blinds. They're bouncy. They look like curtains. Curtains. Curtain bangs are a trend. Really? Yeah, that's a thing.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Oh. Yeah. I didn't know. Stop hating. Now you do. But I wanted to shout out to her because she gave my wife one of the best birthday gifts ever. Yesterday was my wife's birthday, which was taking the kids for the day. So she took the kids for the day. So me and my wife had a relaxing just time by ourselves. No kids.
Starting point is 00:04:57 She took the kids bowling. She had a sleepover at her crib. She took the whole Wu-Tang Clan with her? The whole Wu-Tang Clan last night. All nine of them? All nine of them. What? Took the whole Wu-Tang Clan, took them bowling, got them something to eat, did their homework. Ain't no way. You got young, what's your youngest? Mine? Yeah mine's, yeah. What? She took the whole Wu-Tang Clan. You're gonna have to buy Mercedes a Mercedes, she doing all of that. Jesus Christ. So last night was amazing. What did y'all do? Yeah. You know what, we just sat in the bed. We watched movies. We had a little adult time. We ate some great food.
Starting point is 00:05:28 We had some great wine. Just chill. Just relax. Just romance and chill. And we fell asleep early. I ain't even from France. No such thing as falling asleep early when you're over the 10-day age of 45. Yeah, we fell asleep early.
Starting point is 00:05:39 No such thing as falling asleep early. You went to sleep at a reasonable time for a grown-ass man. Yeah, I fell asleep early. All right. But let's get this show going. You're far early. I need to know what to do. What was early lastass man. Yeah, he fell asleep early. All right. But let's get the show going. You called early. I need to know what to do. What was early last night?
Starting point is 00:05:47 Nine. Like 9.58? Yeah, please. That's heaven. Heaven. What? No kids. Nobody came in the bedroom.
Starting point is 00:05:53 It was perfect. But all right. We got front page news next. Don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God.
Starting point is 00:06:00 We are the Breakfast Club. We got our guest host, Ebony K. Williams, joining us today. And let's get in some front page news. Start off with some sports. Now, Pro Bowl is this weekend. Has anybody watched the Pro Bowl? I never watched the Pro Bowl. I think the Pro Bowl is a waste of time and energy.
Starting point is 00:06:15 You done been beating up yourself for 18 weeks on the football field, now you gonna make me go play in a Pro Bowl? Well, they changed it up a lot. Well, the Manning brothers will be coaching. Peyton will be doing the AFC. Eli will be doing the NFC. They also have some celebrity captains, Pete Davidson and Snoop Dogg. And it's no longer a football game, so they're going to do flag football instead.
Starting point is 00:06:34 So flag football, they're going to be doing precision passing, the best catch, longest drive, lightning rounds. They're going to do dodgeball. So it's going to be a little different. It's going to be more fun than playing. It's a party. It's more of a party. So they're not to do dodgeballs. So it's going to be a little different. It's going to be more fun than playing. It's a party. It's more of a party. So they're not actually playing a game. Flag football game. It's like carnival day at high school.
Starting point is 00:06:53 That's exactly what it's like. I prefer that because you know in the NBA the NBA all-star game is fun. It's not really fun to go out there and tackle people. No, you can get hurt. Especially when the check ain't right. Exactly. What else you got? We are going to go to a little more somber news here in our front page news.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Of course, yesterday we put to rest our dear brother Tyree Nichols in Memphis, Tennessee. A father gone too soon is really the takeaway from that. Tyree, only 29 years old. This young brother didn't even make it to 30. Friends and family and civil rights leaders, including our Vice President Kamala Harris, which we'll hear from in a second, all gathered. I thought it was important. Y'all, let's start with hearing the words from the most important person in the room, Tyree Nichols' mom. First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you for coming out to pay tribute to my son Tyree was a beautiful person and for this to happen to him it's just unimaginable I promise you the only thing that's keeping me
Starting point is 00:07:53 going is the fact that I really truly believe my son was sitting here on an assignment from God and when she's referencing there y'all is I know it's you have to just take a beat right to just hold the space for this woman's enormous grief uh and we as a nation are grieving with her right absolutely it's a lot uh mr nichols was stopped uh traffic violation alleged just reckless driving simple small infraction really uh five officers were charged with his beating death they kicked they beat uh this young brother to death. He died several days later in a hospital. And of course, what's been so devastating for a lot in the culture, all five officers, black.
Starting point is 00:08:33 That's right. We're seeing investigation, though. This is important to note of some tangential players here, medical MTs, things like that, that include some white people. So they're going to be investigated. There are more charges to come. So far, all five officers have been dismissed from their police duties and charged with second degree murder what i love is you know when we talked about this story yesterday uh charlamagne you talked about uh and you agreed it would be a good day to talk about the george floyd justice
Starting point is 00:08:57 and policing act miss nichols agreed let's listen i just need whatever that George Floyd bill we needed passed. Yeah. We need to take some action because there should be no other child that should suffer the way my son and all the other parents here have lost their children. We need to get that bill passed. How important is it, Charlamagne, do you think that this woman took this moment in her deep grief to make that call to action? I think it's very important, but I don't think it's going to change anything.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Really? Because it's not going to make any of those politicians move to want to pass that bill. Because if it did, if a mother's tears is what moved people to pass that bill, that bill would have been passed a long time ago. What's the importance factors of the bills? What is the important factors of that bill that will...
Starting point is 00:09:49 Getting rid of qualified immunity. That's the main one. Another one, I think that's a huge one. I also think, though, Envy, there's a statute that talks about use of force because that's what we keep talking about. I was here with y'all about five years ago. We were talking about Stephon Clarkark and there were no charges there and it's because the opportunity for police to use deadly force is so wide open and this bill envy narrows that it brings it in it holds them to a higher standard and that's important uh speaking though charlemagne okay you say is it going to move the the politicians because that's really where the
Starting point is 00:10:20 movement needs to be let's listen to our vice President Kamala Harris. This violent act was not in pursuit of public safety. It was not in the interest of keeping the public safe because Tyree Nichols would be with us here today. Was he not also entitled to the right to be safe? So when we talk about public safety, let us understand what it means in its truest form tyree nichols should have been safe i think she's got to go even further to be candid and say right well and say when we talk about public safety we're talking about white safety that's
Starting point is 00:10:59 right that's that's really the the the thing that's not being said it's like when have black people ever been truly safe in our black bodies? In this nation. Let's be honest, it all sounds like car salesman stuff. Nothing ever changes. They say the same speeches at the same time. We need to do this. We need to do that. But when do we get to the point where we actually do it?
Starting point is 00:11:17 She spoke on the George Floyd Police Act. She did. Let's hear her out. As a United States Senator, a co-author of the original George Floyd Justice and Policing Act. And as Vice President of the United States, we demand that Congress pass the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act. Joe Biden will sign it and we should not delay and we will not be denied. It is non-negotiable. What's missing for me is you got to name names.
Starting point is 00:11:51 And you talked about this when you had the vice president on your Comedy Central show. You got to say, brother Tim Scott in South Carolina who claims that you also want to move forward on police reform, come on to the table. You got to talk to Joe Manchin. You got to talk to the holdouts. You can't just have this generalized call to action, kind of like M.B. saying, now it's car salesman talk,
Starting point is 00:12:10 unless you're going to name the names. That's all I'm saying. Name the names, or what Monique say, keep it on school ground. That's right. And, you know, even though we know that was for the cameras because politicians never stop campaigning, I am happy that, you know, Kamala and her brother's mother called for the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. You know, at least on Kamala's part. I am happy that, you know, Kamala and the brother's mother called for the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.
Starting point is 00:12:27 You know, at least on Kamala's part, we know it was, you know, just for the cameras. Right. But why does it have to be a reaction to another unjust murder at the hands of the police? It shouldn't take another black person dying at the hands of the police for you to call for this legislation. That's what had the pressure on him. Like the legislation is literally named after a victim of police brutality. Whose family has also there putting another black brother, Mr. Nichols, to rest. If we have time, can we hear from the Reverend Al Sharpton?
Starting point is 00:12:52 We'll do it when we come back. We'll do it when we come back. And one last question. Did they show up at anybody else's funeral? See, that's what I'm saying. That would make me feel funny. If I'm George Floyd's family or any other victim's family, I would feel funny, too. You come to this brother, which you should have.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Because it's headline news. Because it's headline news. You didn't come to nobody else's funeral? And for me, it's great to show up. You didn't care about nobody else? It's great to show up to that funeral. But to me, the optics are way more powerful when it's a woman of color at the funeral of a brother who's been killed by white officers. Then you can address the system of white supremacy and the corrupt police system at the same time you know i mean i just i want the vp to talk about the george floyd policing act more
Starting point is 00:13:28 because like she said she is the co-author of that bill sure and i would think that the co-author that co-author of that bill would talk about that bill all the time not just as a reaction to another black person getting and identify the holdouts that are making it not a reality well we'll get to more of it uh next hour as well but right now it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open. Again, 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:13:52 The Breakfast Club. You are nothing more than a monster. A monster. All right, bye. Goodbye, man. I'm glad somebody finally realized that you're Dominican. I'm not Dominican. Shout out to all the Dominicans out there. We come in all shades, Sean. But I'm not Dominican. I'm really somebody finally realized that you're Dominican. I'm not Dominican. Shout out to all the Dominicans out there.
Starting point is 00:14:07 We come in all shades, Sean. But I'm not Dominican. I'm really black. Don't listen to him. I know you're black. I'm white Dominican. Don't listen to him. He's not Afro-Latino.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Hello, who's this? Too far. Hey, how you doing? This is Tyree calling from the 804. Tyree, what up? 804. 804. What the hell is 804?
Starting point is 00:14:20 Virginia? Virginia, yeah. What's up? The Breakfast Club. Shout out to Charlemagne, DJ Envy. Who's the guest host? It's Miss Ebony K. Williams. Yes, yeah. What's up, The Breakfast Club? Shout out to Charlemagne, DJ Envy. Who's the guest host? It's Miss Ebony K. Williams. Yes, indeed.
Starting point is 00:14:28 How you doing, Miss Ebony K. Williams? Better now. How are you? Awesome, awesome. Hey, look, I would like to get it off my chest that C3 Car Club is the best car club in the whole United States. Okay. We've been putting it on for our cities Our chapters For going on 11 years
Starting point is 00:14:46 Come February 12th Well congratulations To y'all brother Y'all need to pull up In one of my car shows man The closest one to you guys Right Charlotte
Starting point is 00:14:52 New Jersey Atlanta What else Texas Dallas We have Houston Come on

I'm going to be on hold.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Hey, quick shout out to my wife, Carmen. I love you. My kid, Cal, Ariana, and Camille. All right, brother. Hold on. Hello, who's this? This is Ashley calling from Houston. H-10, what up, Ashley?
Starting point is 00:15:23 What's going on, guys? I'm pissed off this morning. I'm sorry for having this energy. What up, Ashley? What's going on, guys? I'm pissed off this morning. I'm sorry for having this energy. It's all good. What's up? So the five black officers who murdered Tyree Nichols was pissing me off besides the fact that they killed his brother and didn't consider that this could be their brother or cousin. It's all the conspiracy theories and rumors that are happening beyond the scenes. So I work at a FedEx
Starting point is 00:15:46 facility and there's so many rumors going on about the main reason why they killed his brother was because one of the cops, baby mama, he was messing with and all this drama. Why can't it be just five black officers who corruptly killed this
Starting point is 00:16:02 man? Why does it have to be all this behind the scenes of what he may have done to get killed no you're right but that's because people not understanding something scares them so people be trying to come to their own understanding about things so they feel better about the situation it's also annoying actually it doesn't make it right it does actually you know what it's not right and that's why we have a day in court where people can actually get on a witness stand and we found out what happened for real. That's right. Okay, so it has not come out of what the motive was of why they did this. That's for trial.
Starting point is 00:16:28 That's all rumors, mama. And I think when people hear stuff like this, when people hear stories like this, they don't want it to happen to them, so they always got to... Make up a reason. That's right, make up a reason. Like, oh, that's why that happened.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Just so they don't have the anxiety of it happening to them. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
Starting point is 00:17:03 I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. Why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:17:32 What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan
Starting point is 00:17:46 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast Post Run High is all about. Starting point is 00:18:25 So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. On July 8, 1992, apartment buildings with pools were never quite the same as Melrose Place was introduced to the world. It took drama and mayhem to an entirely new level.
Starting point is 00:19:13 We are going to be reliving every hookup, every scandal, every backstab, blackmail and explosion and every single wig removal together. Secrets are revealed as we rewatch every moment with you. Special guests from back in the day will be dropping by. You know who they are. Starting point is 00:19:53 Hi, I'm Marie. And I'm Sydney. And we're mess. Well, not a mess, but on our podcast called Mess, we celebrate all things messy. But the gag is not everything is a mess. Sometimes it's just living. Yeah, things like J-Lo on her third divorce. Living. Girls trip to Miami.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Mess. Ozempic. Messy skinny living. Restaurant stealing a birthday cake. Mess. Wait, what flavor was the cake though? Okay, that's a good question. Hooking up with someone in accounting and then getting a promotion. Living.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Breaking up with your girlfriend while on Instagram Live. Living. It's kind of mess. Yeah. Well, you get it. Got it? Live, love, mess. Listen to Mess with Sydney Washington and Marie Faustin on iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 00:20:42 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Daphne Caruana Galizia was a Maltese investigative journalist who on October 16th, 2017, was murdered. There are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate. My name is Manuel Delia. I am one of the hosts of Crooks Everywhere, a podcast that unhearts the plot to murder a one-woman Wikileaks. Daphne exposed the culture of crime and corruption that were turning her beloved country
Starting point is 00:21:16 into a mafia state. And she paid the ultimate price. Listen to Crooks everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's a new day. This is your time to get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Wake up. Whether you're mad or blessed. It's time to get up and get something. Call up now. 800-585-1051. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Hey, how you doing?
Starting point is 00:21:53 Good morning. Hakeem. Hakeem, good morning. Get it off your chest. I just wanted to give a shout out to my mother. That's awesome. It's her birthday. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Absolutely. Shout out. Hey, my name is Kathy. I'm 55 years old today. I love you. I appreciate you. You're a great man. I hope to wish you many more birthdays.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Happy birthday, mama. Where mama live? My mother live in Minnesota right now. Minnesota. All right. Well, happy birthday, Kathy. Thank you. I appreciate y'all.
Starting point is 00:22:21 I appreciate the best. I'm a starlet man. I'm a star. DJ Envy, man. Keep doing what y'all do, man, I love y'all, man. Hello, who's this? Hey, good morning, it's Will Paul from Jersey, how you guys doing? What's up, brother, get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Okay, briefly, is Abney Kay there this morning? I am, how you doing? Oh, I'm doing great, I just wanted to say I remember listening to you when you were on Curtis. I mean, you were on with Curtis in the morning. I think you held your own in very difficult circumstances as far as the audience that listened to that show. And then now as we see some of the things that Curtis has been saying, he's one of those that's been using justice to hide some of his true feelings towards people of color. But I digress. She talks about that in her new book, Bet on Black. I sure do. Thank you. Thank you, Charlam People. I sure do. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Thank you, Charlamagne. I appreciate that, bro. It was not a lot of us over there when I was at WABC during those days. First black woman to co-host anything over there in that conservative talk space. I really appreciate that, bro. Thank you. Yeah, it was tough. A couple of times I could hear it in your voice where I could see that you're probably looking at him like, bro, did you really just
Starting point is 00:23:23 say that? Yeah, you right about that. But on to my my point what we have to do now with civilians is we have to go and embrace this police chief because it's not a coincidence that the one time that the uh arrest and firing of these officers happened so rapidly was it was a person of color a black woman i'm pretty sure she's getting tons of hate mail and things and so forth. So we have to do the same thing on the other side. Send us so much love. Thank you. Encouragement. Because what people
Starting point is 00:23:54 see, you guys remember, I believe it was in South Carolina when they had a black chief and half of the force walked out. I don't know if you guys remember that. I don't. Yeah, I'm not sure. You can look it up. But my overall point is when officers, we always tell the good cops
Starting point is 00:24:10 step up, say something, do something, intervene. But we as civilians have to let them know that we have their back because they're going to be like, well, I'm going to know what situation. My co-workers are going to turn their back on me. And the public, they look at me as a cop and they're not going to support me. So I might as well just be quiet and put my head down and keep on going and let the status quo continue so we have
Starting point is 00:24:29 to let cops know that when they go ahead and do the right thing that we have their back and if they have some things going on in the locker rooms or when they're out of so that they're not getting any help come to a platform such as yours and let them and let you guys know that hey listen i did this and this is what's happening to me right now. And then we can go ahead and shoot. No pun intended. That offers some help, assistance or support. I agree with that.
Starting point is 00:24:54 But I wonder, Ebony, does that even matter? Because, like, you know, at the end of the day, they still got to go deal with the bureaucracy. Listen, I think it's to positive reinforcement of great black police chiefs, prosecutors, Kim Foxx, you know, that is important, but it's not going to make their job easier. No, let's not get that twisted.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. When we come back, we got your rumor report. Cameron, he turned down $300,000 for an item he had and we'll tell you why when we come back don't move it's the breakfast club good morning the breakfast club morning everybody it's dj nv charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club we got our special uh guest with us uh miss ebony k williams her book is out right now. Better on black. And let's get to the rumors.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Let's talk Cameron. Rumor has it. Rumor. Rumor has it. Call out a name or you gossiping or you chatty patty. I am gossiping. This is the rumor report. I mean, I guess we on The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:25:54 This is where the tea spills, right? Yes. On The Breakfast Club. Now, you know that iconic pink fur that Cameron has that Drake was wearing in that concert the other, about two weeks ago absolutely somebody offered him three hundred thousand dollars for that mink I believe that and he turned it down I purchased that jacket probably literally realistically 20 years ago at a store called Apollo Signature in Harlem on 121st street what's the most somebody ever offered
Starting point is 00:26:20 you for that jacket 300 000. I didn't say ever but I'm talking about the people who offered it to me. I didn't feel they deserved it. It was more of a stat to me saying, y'all bought Cam's jacket. It wasn't really like they appreciated where that jacket came from. If it makes sense to sell it to somebody who would appreciate it or put it where it's going to be seen and be a story that people know is my jacket, cool. I know I've got rich suburban kids who are like's like hey cam my girlfriend really loves your pink jacket i don't really know too much about it but i'll buy it for her you know how much you want for it like that type you know what i'm saying
Starting point is 00:26:53 i wonder how much cam has spent in dry cleaning on that jacket over the years because if not it's got to have like a like a smell right no not necessarily why because he wears the weed smoke oh the weed smoke but that alcohol that spilled on it? It is out easily. That adds to the value. That adds to the value. That's the authenticity. But I wanted to buy Cam Rons.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Remember that pink Range Rover he had? Yeah. I wanted to buy Cam's pink Range for my car shows. I thought that's less like hip-hop... Icon. Icon classic cars, you know? Why don't you just buy a Range Rover and paint it pink? Like, who would know the difference?
Starting point is 00:27:21 That's fraudulent. Who would know, though? He would know. People wouldn't know. Anytime you see a pink Range Rover, youulent. Who would know though? He would know. People wouldn't know. Anytime you see a pink Range Rover you're going to think Cam'ron whether it's the original
Starting point is 00:27:29 version or not. Period. I didn't think about that. It's like when you see a pink fur you think Cam'ron regardless. Don't do it Envy
Starting point is 00:27:36 that's fraud. Yo that pink fur is so iconic Lil Nas X was Cam for Halloween. I know. And all he had to do was put the pink fur on
Starting point is 00:27:42 with the pink hat. Yeah. Cause I really, I'm going to look into it again because I found it, but I was thinking about buying it and I was just thinking it would be a dope asset
Starting point is 00:27:51 for the car show. You don't even got to do a Range Rover. You can do a Land Rover and nobody will know the difference. Absolutely not. Don't get no pink Discovery. Don't get no pink Discovery.
Starting point is 00:28:00 You get the pink Discovery. Don't get no pink Discovery. Nobody will know. I was trying to buy Cam's Range Rover. Slick Rick's, old Rolls Royce I was trying to buy and I was trying to buy Cam's Range Rover Slick Rick's, Old Rolls Royce I was trying to buy and I was trying to buy Nas's Mercedes Benz, like those iconic cars that they
Starting point is 00:28:11 wore on their covers, I just thought that would be dope for the car show alright now NBA Youngboy you know he's out in Utah and he was talking about how sometimes he's lonely I'm terrified of people and I'm very shy but I never knew why once I walk on the stage I would get it done. I'm terrified of people. People are cruel. Like you can't control yourself
Starting point is 00:28:34 so you never know what someone will do you. I always wanted to be a rapper. It was always my dream. I never had a plan B. Can't be on top forever you know i will not be provoked out and i'm not going back to where i used to be i only get more groovy from here he also talks about uh how mormons used to come to his house all the time you know in utah it's a huge mormon town and at first he would turn him away but then he started looking at it and saying you know what let me let me bring them in let me start having a conversation with him and he was lonely and he started having conversations with him and now he's thinking about possibly he might become a mormon all i know is uh we got that audio he's playing okay well that young man needs therapy that's all you know i mean to unpack some of that
Starting point is 00:29:19 that's it it's just that simple the brother sounds so vulnerable and that's how anxiety works right like you may not want to be around people. You know, people may make you uncomfortable, but when you get in front of a microphone or something or get on that stage, all that goes away. Why? I don't know for some people, but that young brother just needs therapy to unpack some of that.
Starting point is 00:29:34 That's all. You think the fact that he's all the way in Utah, away from friends and family and associates, you think that hurt or help? Probably the best thing for him. He's disconnecting. You also talk about that a little bit as well i think i grew out of liking music but it's like it's therapy it's the only way i can express it i sit down behind the mic and just let things flood in my mouth man i was flooded with millions of dollars from the time I was 16 to this point in my life. And I woke up one morning and I was like, damn, got me.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Man, look at the shit I spoke about. Look at the shit I put in these people's ears. And now I'm sitting back like, damn, I can't do it. But I promise to clean whatever I can clean. A lot of self-awareness in that man's words. That's how I know he's paying attention. You know what I mean? clean a lot of self-awareness in that man's words that's how i know he's paying attention you know what i mean he's he's intentionally paying attention to his growth and his evolution his
Starting point is 00:30:30 music is his journaling yes that's what i hear yes i think he wants to change that i think he's realizing the effects he has on these kids and people and wants to change that and want to you know and i love that and you know why i think utah doesn't hurt him because i think uh as you get older you're very cognizant of uh what makes your energy go up and what makes your energy go down. So if he's in an environment that makes his energy go down wherever he was, but he knows it goes up in Utah, you go find that pocket of joy. If Utah is where he finds his joy, why not? Now, I believe he was in Utah because of probation or something. So I'm just wondering, once that's over, if that's true, does he leave Utah?
Starting point is 00:31:06 Does he go back to Louisiana? Does he move to Atlanta? Not if that's where his peace is. And not if that's where he has discipline, right? Because actually sometimes terms of probation, the structure of that can be a lifesaver. I've seen it. Well, All-Stars in Utah this year.
Starting point is 00:31:21 So everybody's going to be out there in the next two, three weeks. Damn. Is that what you call a disturbance in the next two, three weeks. Damn. Is that what you call a disturbance of the peace? Yeah, that is definitely a disturbance. Is that a disturbance?
Starting point is 00:31:29 Y'all don't have places where y'all find peace? Like random places? Tulum, Mexico. I go to Tulum every year by myself. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:36 What about yours? Outside of the crib and outside of the states. Yeah, outside of the home. There's so many different places. What a blessing though that you find peace in your home. You know what? I find more peace in my home. No, outside of the home. There's so many different places. What a blessing, though, that you find peace in your home. You know what?
Starting point is 00:31:47 I find more peace in my home. No, some people don't. My peace is my home. That's when I go in the house and I don't have to worry about anything. It's just Rashawn. You're just dad. You're just babe.
Starting point is 00:31:56 You're just boo. And that's my peace. My random peace location is Atlantic City. Why? I do not know. Really? When I go to Atlantic City, for whatever reason, because my daughter does cheerleading competitions, so she has a lot of cheerleading competitions in Atlantic City. Why? I do not know. When I go to Atlantic City for whatever reason, because you know my daughter
Starting point is 00:32:05 does cheerleading competitions, so she has a lot of cheerleading competitions in Atlantic City. When I go to Atlantic City and stay in the hotel I like to stay at for some reason, I just disconnect in a different way. I get stillness in a different way in Atlantic City. But I think my office too, I have an office in Jersey where it's like
Starting point is 00:32:21 a warehouse where my cars are, and I just get to look at the cars and it just puts me in a peaceful place. Just relaxes me. I have everything there that I need. Another one I got to shout out is Salamander Resort in D.C. Black owned. Oh, yeah. Bob Johnson.
Starting point is 00:32:37 Man, that thing is nice. Really? Horseback riding. In D.C.? Right outside. I thought it was in Virginia. Middleton, I think, Virginia. Oh, Virginia. Fabulous.C.? Right outside. I thought it was in Virginia. Middleton, I think, Virginia. Oh, Virginia.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Virginia. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fabulous. She's ballin'. I don't know if y'all paying attention to what Sheila Johnson doing. You need to Google Sheila Johnson.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Sheila Johnson out here winning in a different way. I'm just saying. She's my role model. Let me be very clear. All right. She got a few of those resorts all around the world.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Yes, I think Anguilla. Anguilla, she got one. She got one in Virginia. Just open the D.C. Metro Hotel. Yeah. Yes, I think Anguilla. Anguilla, she got one. She got one in Virginia. Just opened a DC Metro hotel. Yeah. She ballin', ballin'. Drop on a Clues Bonf for Shibu Johnson. She's my hero.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Don't know her, but she ballin'. And lastly, our Dr. Phil show is ending after 21 seasons. So congratulations to Dr. Phil. Yeah, what a run. 21 seasons. Drop on a Clues Bonf for Dr. Phil. Yeah. I know I was clapping because it was ending, but go ahead.
Starting point is 00:33:26 You don't like Dr. Phil? Oh, damn it, man. Jesus. Dr. Phil had a great run. He had a great, great run. You didn't like Dr. Phil, did you? He's 72 years old. I don't give a damn how old he is.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Why you didn't like Dr. Phil? Break it down. It just got to do with anything. Yeah, why you don't like Dr. Phil? I just thought Oprah could have given the platform to someone more culturally relevant. Oh, okay. Yeah, I got a whole theory. We'll do it another time. So you don't mess with Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz? I don't do Phil. I don't do Oz. Look. Yeah, I got a whole theory. We'll do it another time.
Starting point is 00:33:45 So you don't mess with Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz. I don't do Phil. I don't do Oz. Look. Look at it. She tried with Ayanla, though. Did she? Yeah, but that didn't go right.
Starting point is 00:33:53 I mean, from what we've read and what Ayanla said. She tried with Ayanla. Rachel Roy, she put on. I get what you're saying, though. Yeah, but you don't like white doctors. That's what I'm saying. No. I will say, though, Dr. Phil. Very Far't like white doctors. That's what I'm saying. No! I will say though, Dr. Phil.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Very Farrakhan of me. That's very Farrakhan. Dr. Phil's been up to the Breakfast Club a few times. I've been on his show too. He's helped me sell some books. I'll tell you that much. That's good. That's very proud of him.
Starting point is 00:34:15 And Dr. Oz. Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz. Dr. Phil for sure. When I put out a shook one, he bought me on it. He said this is... Well, that's on brand. Very important book. Dr. Oz helped me save my daughter when she was very, very very sick he got a transfer to a better hospital and took
Starting point is 00:34:28 care of my well that's very good he almost took the state of pennsylvania to hell but i'm glad i'm very serious that's jesus he's talking about his doctor i didn't know why his politics but when it came to the doctor he saved my you know saved my little baby jesus okay i don't know about big carson all right up next we got front page news don't move it's the breakfast club good Save my little baby. Jesus. Him and Big Carson. All right. Up next, we got front page news. Don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Jesus. The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same. Looking to turn a small bet into a big payday? With DraftKings Sportsbook's same game parlays, you can pocket more cash when you combine multiple bets from one game. Download the app. Sign up with code ENVY.
Starting point is 00:35:03 That's E-N-V-Y, and get a special offer. Restrictions apply? See DraftKings.com slash Sportsbook for details. See how that works, right? What's that? It kind of seems like we were just talking about the term SMD. Yes. And how if you say that to somebody, like those are like those are final words, like we'll never deal
Starting point is 00:35:20 with you ever again. So it can be final, and you Ebony said that's a final play. It is. It's a final play. But then it's foreplay when it's done the right way shut up man mg i'm just saying all right well good morning everybody we are the breakfast club our guest host ebony k williams is here and let's get in some front page news front page news yes y'all yesterday we laid to rest the dear brother tyree nichols 29 years old gone far too soon father someone's son. We talked earlier about how his mother spoke,
Starting point is 00:35:48 of course, at his funeral. Vice President Kamala Harris spoke. But what we didn't get to is the good Al Sharpton, Reverend Al Sharpton, who has led the community and culture through so many instances like this. He had words as well. Is that five black men that wouldn't have had a job
Starting point is 00:36:04 in the police department in the city that dr. King lost his life not far away from that balcony you beat a brother to death there's nothing more insulting and offensive to those of us that fight to open doors, that you walk through those doors and act like the folks we had to fight for to get you through them doors. Understand that there's needs to deal with crime, but you don't fight crime by becoming criminals yourself. That ain't the police, that's punks.
Starting point is 00:36:43 So here's where I think the the i was gonna say the ancestors excuse me misstatement the uh elders in the culture are actually very important because he is connecting dots there y'all with really like geographically this is where dr king was assassinated not gave his life because he didn't give nothing he was taken away he was murdered he was assassinated and and within a throne stow you black men who really live in the legacy of dr king execute your own brother i do think that type of cultural correlation is important that's what i talk about in bed on black uh beyond that i like that al sharpton talked about uh you know that's not protecting crime but let's be clear what tyree nichols will stop for y'all allegedly reckless driving shouldn't lead to that that's not protecting crime but let's be clear what tyree nichols will stop for y'all
Starting point is 00:37:25 allegedly reckless driving shouldn't lead to that that's not even really of criminal nature like that i was gonna ask you earlier because i thought they said that after watching the cameras they found out that he wasn't driving reckless that's why that's why i said allegedly only the officer's reports right are even suggesting that right now the, the prosecutor's office, great point, Envy, is not even collaborating with that argument. They're not even cooperating. For all we know, that brother could have been
Starting point is 00:37:50 doing nothing wrong, and that's probably what the prosecutors will argue. I still wish Al Sharpton, Reverend Al, would have addressed the system of policing, though, because based off the clip
Starting point is 00:37:58 I just heard, Reverend Al made it seem like this is an isolated incident, especially when he said this isn't policing, this is punks. Well, if that's the case, we've seen a lot of punks then, because this seems like the norm
Starting point is 00:38:07 in regards to policing. And I totally understand scolding them because they're black and it's black police officers, but it's not just black police officers who do stuff like this. This was a funeral, though. This was a eulogy, though. You know what I mean? This wasn't his platform to talk about everything. Well, everybody went up
Starting point is 00:38:24 there and addressed politics in some way, shape or form everybody did i have a question something you said uh triggered me i've been having this in my group chats should the black officers be held to an even higher standard because they are black well that's a cultural thing right that's us that's what i meant that's what i'm asking we hope that you know uh black people get in those positions and that's how they change the culture i'm. Yeah, I ain't talking about the law. I mean, us culturally. No, I think they should just get life regardless. Regardless.
Starting point is 00:38:49 I don't care if they black, white, Asian, Spanish. It doesn't matter. They should be held to the highest point of the law. No, it's a nuanced answer, right? Because, yes, as black people, I do hold them to a higher standard. Correct. Because they look like us. You shouldn't do your brother like that.
Starting point is 00:39:02 But when it comes to just the system of policing, I want that all of you to think. Law is equal, but for me, I'm more outraged because you should understand the humanity of your black brother better than some white person who is systematically otherizing us. I agree. I do hold them to a higher cultural standard as a black person.
Starting point is 00:39:20 All right, this one's interesting. I want to get your take on this, Envy. I know you were talking about it a little bit. Biden is proposing a new bill, new piece of legislation legislation it's got a junk fee part in it yeah i know you like this it cuts out hidden fees y'all for credit cards uh concert tickets we saw you know all the ticket master of it all all that going on the u.s senate uh and it would target four excessive types of fees specifically. Online concert tickets, sporting events, which I hate. Hotels. Hotels.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Air fees. Airline fees. All these little hidden costs that take your shopping cart expense from $50 to $250. Let me just tell the people exactly what it is. When you go to book a hotel and the hotel says $99 and you go there with $99 and then they charge you a resort fee of $29.99 and now your hotel is $130 and you don't know where that resort fee is coming from? Yeah. That's the fee they should take off because I'd never understand that. And what's it going towards?
Starting point is 00:40:12 Same thing with the airlines. There's an airline fee. Where does that money go to? I just paid my ticket. Why do I got to pay an additional $40? Same thing with sporting events. If you go to a sporting event or any show on Ticketmaster, any of those things, you pay, let's say, $30 for the ticket.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Then they charge you a $9.99 ticket fee. What is that fee? What is that processing fee? Processing. Hey, man. I've been feeling like that since the days of buying Lil' Debbie's and McDonald's value meals. Now, I'm talking about taxes, though. When something is $0.99 and it's $1.05 and all you got is a dollar and now you're looking around for a nickel.
Starting point is 00:40:40 That's taxes, though. You can't hurt about that. I know, but that's a junk fee to me. You know what I mean? When you go to McDonald's and the value meal, you can be $2.99 and that was $3.24.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Taxes? It was $3.14 back then. Oh, it was $3.24. $3.14. Because I think the taxes are higher. You know what I mean? And all you got is $3? Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:54 You thought it was $2.99. You thought you had an extra penny. That's right. When I was young and didn't know any better about taxes. When you were a kid and now, you're not a kid anymore, Charlamagne.
Starting point is 00:41:02 But that was a junk fee to me to him. Yeah, no, I agree. Taxes are a junk fee, period. Can we get, Charlamagne. But that was a junk fee to me to hit. Yeah, no, I agree. Taxes are a junk fee, period. Can we get rid of taxes? Can we consider taxes a junk fee? Mr. IRS, that's not Rashawn talking. That is Leonard.
Starting point is 00:41:13 That's Leonard. But you know, everything Williams is saying, get rid of these income taxes. I don't mind a consumer tax. If I'm using a good, I'll pay your tax. Okay. But that income tax, that's my money. Give me my money. Word. You don't want to pay no taxes. Not my income envy i'm gonna tell you why though i'll make an argument tell me because my federal government nor my state or local government has shown me that they are good stewards of my money that's right we don't know where our bread
Starting point is 00:41:38 going that's right that's right we got failing public schools right we got cracks in the road we got bridges that are barely holding up the schools should be your your housing tax what you pay your taxes on your house that should be the schooling but the things i have a lot of money in my house uh envy so that's your school tax yeah that's where your kids go to school but like when you talk about the roads i want to know where that that happens i want to talk about the judges the prosecutors the police officers the firefighters that's supposed to be your regular tax yeah if i knew my money was actually going to make other people's lives better i would have no problem with that same i don't know where that bread is going therefore i'm with ebony k williams yeah a lot of it's going to the military eliminate taxes eliminate taxes no new taxes call us the new t-bar all right all right
Starting point is 00:42:19 one more uh we got time for it no no we gotta go we gotta wrap yeah we got commercials but uh let's open up the phone lines 800-585-1051 ebony k williams is here you know she's an attorney so let's hold court yeah i know you listen to her podcast holding court you know what i mean where she gives out a lot of uh great legal advice right i'm sure that y'all might need some legal advice right now that's right 800-585-1051 if you need legal advice call her now now think about it like this this is free if you. This is free. If you call an attorney, you know they're going to charge you $1,000 just to come inside and then $500 an hour. That's right.
Starting point is 00:42:51 We're getting it right now for on the low, low. 800. As far as we know. We might get invoiced later. I don't know. As far as we know. All right. So if you need some legal advice, you got some questions, call us now.
Starting point is 00:43:01 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody. question call us now 800-585-1051 it's the breakfast club good morning the breakfast club morning everybody it's dj envy charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club we got our guest host ebony k williams joining us that's right now she's an attorney she's definitely an attorney and uh and she's a podcast host she's a podcast podcast she has her own show coming up with the good brother dustin yeah she has her own court show coming out, Equal Justice.
Starting point is 00:43:26 But, you know, she gives out legal advice quite often on her podcast, Holding Court. Correct. And since we have her here and we got her for the low-low. As far as we know. It's free 99. Okay. It's free 99. We got that.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Keep that recorded, please. We got that recorded. That's on the record. That's on the record. Internet into evidence. That's right. That's right. So, 800-585-1051 if you need any type of legal advice, she's here.
Starting point is 00:43:47 And we'll go right to the lines. Hello, who's this? Hey, this is Jay. Jay, what's up, man? What's your question for Ebony? So listen, I didn't have custody of my daughter since she was three. She just turned 12 last year. She's been kind of going through some things, so I kind of let her move back in with her mom.
Starting point is 00:44:06 But now it's a situation where my daughter wants to move back with me. But her mom wants to kind of keep her. And I understand because they've been missing that time. But I think my daughter is just more comfortable staying with me. But we haven't filed any like custody papers or nothing like that. Other than like when I went to court when she was three. So it's like, should I have got any papers
Starting point is 00:44:29 establishing custody? What could I do? Let me help you out, Jay. It's actually pretty simple on this one. The good news about child support and child custody, there's only one actual law. Best interest of the child. That's it. It's totally controlling.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Who makes that decision? That will be a judge in family court. So this is the thing, Jay. If you've had custody since from three to 12, you probably still have legal and physical custody, but for a change in the agreement. So if you really want your daughter to come back and stay with you and that's what she wants, you could probably have that happen. If your wife tries to ex-wife brother or her mother tries to fight you for it, then you can petition a court for sole legal and physical custody and the judge will decide who is her best interest. And if it's you, you're good.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Good luck, brother. Hello, who's this? Hi, good morning. What's your question for Ebony K. Williams? Alright, so I went to court back in November for a child support court. Got it. So the next to court back in November for a child support court. Got it. So the next thing I knew, I'm waiting.
Starting point is 00:45:28 The judge, we have to be letting through Zoom. So we get in. My ex-husband gets in. Everybody's in. The judge says, OK, well, sir, how can you prove that you have a diagnosis from a doctor that says you cannot work. He says, well, I never went to a doctor, but I have a condition called drop foot. And the judge is like, well, I would need some medical documentation saying that you have this condition and you cannot work. Mind you, this is a man that just came to New York in September and built his mom's basement. So he's very functional, you understand?
Starting point is 00:46:07 I hear you. So I'm in the Zoom meeting just watching all this play out. He told the judge, well, I've been sending her $150 a month. This only started the month before court, and the only reason he
Starting point is 00:46:24 started doing that is because he got served with the court papers. Right. So this is not something he has been doing and whatnot. Why did the judge order him to continue paying $150 without no medical documentation and without asking for any taxes? There was no papers that he put in. Like, I had to put in my income, I had to put in my income. I had to put in my bank statement. I had to put, you know,
Starting point is 00:46:49 I forgot the words that it happened before court. You have to add all these documents in via the internet. And, uh-huh. So is your issue that you want him to pay more child support? I want him to pay a proper amount. All right, so let me tell you what to do. I you i totally hear your frustration it sounds like what what you're telling me sounds like a lot of steps were missed but let's get to solutions right so you need to file uh an amendment you need to say you want an amendment to your child support order you need to
Starting point is 00:47:17 suggest to the court whatever you think is a reasonable amount five hundred dollars seven fifty whatever it is for you sis and not even I just I wanted $400 a month so then that's what you you got to do the legwork and this is frustrating y'all because in child support and family law it's not like criminal law it's not even like civil law it's all on the it's all on the parties to do the legwork and I know that that does not seem fair it's very expensive for you you think that I've done this three times. Mind you, I've fought for custody for my daughter six times. And the
Starting point is 00:47:49 only reason I didn't win before is because he worked at a job that paid him $160,000 a year. So he wasn't trying to give up my daughter. He wasn't because he knew he would have to pay me 17% of his paycheck. Correct correct and he was like no
Starting point is 00:48:07 i want custody her she's doing good in school this is a child i had called him years ago this is a child that they put in a cab at five years old to take a cab a regular cab like you call the cab company and they come and this is all of that this is is stemming from all of that. I finally got custody after paying $9,000 to a different lawyer. And I got custody. The judge was like, no, wait a minute. This isn't right. So now, look, I'm dealing with this again with child support.
Starting point is 00:48:39 It's ridiculous. So what do you suggest? Yeah, it's a frustrating system. I hear it in her voice. You can hear the emotion there. And that's real. Because family court systems are essentially a made up system. And they are designed for money. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:48:53 And by the way, what she mentioned about her ex or whatever making $160,000 a year and going for full custody. That's getting very common. You see the high earning parent, male or female, non-binary don't matter saying i'm no longer willing to concede high child support payments just give me custody we see it all the time i mean i just you know and not to do anybody's you know what they make but if you make 160 000 and all you give for that child is 150 trash something. Come on, there's taxes. So technically that person probably only making like $80, $90. But still $150
Starting point is 00:49:27 for your child a month and your child's five years old, six years old. That's a lot of money in some places. $150 a month when you make that much money. Come on, bro.
Starting point is 00:49:36 No, Sharf. I'm not saying that's good. She deserves more, but that is a lot of money. Some people don't get that. I know people that get $40 in child support. Yeah, but do they make,
Starting point is 00:49:44 do their partner make $160,000? I don't know. You know? You have kids. You know, $150 between food, activities, schooling, clothes. Transportation. Don't put me in this situation, sir. Take me out.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Then don't put me in this. All right. I'm not a good example. You're right. 800-585-1051. Ebony K. Williams is here. Of course, she's an attorney, and she's answering all your legal questions. So call her now.

Starting point is 00:53:44 Hooking up with someone in accounting and then getting a promotion. Living. Breaking up with your girlfriend while on Instagram Live. Living. It's kind of mess. Yeah. Our guest host, Ebony K. Williams, is here. Of course, she's an attorney, and she's answering all your legal questions for free. That's right. I said free, so you better call up and ask her what you need.
Starting point is 00:55:21 And we have Brandi on line three. Brandi, good morning. Hi, good morning hi good morning good morning what's your question so my question is i bought a truck from when i made the part a used truck and within the first 48 hours my service engine light came on and i have went through this was january and my truck has been serviced by this company minimum of 10 times I have been promised by different managers that they're gonna fix it they're gonna replace my truck and now here we are truck still acting up it's not working right and now they're dodging me and I can't get any help anywhere so So I'm just wondering legally, do I have any seats in on?
Starting point is 00:56:07 Yeah. Brandy, I got good news for you. You got a case. Depending on where you live, it sounds like you said the truck started acting funny after did you say 48 hours? Yes, ma'am. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:17 So most states have a lemon law. A lemon law says if your vehicle starts acting up, it could be anywhere from 30 days to I've seen up to 90 days. You are entitled to a new vehicle. You don't even have to continue to pay or invest in service. But you are going to need a lawyer. And my hope for you, Miss Brandy, is you can find an attorney that specializes in lemon law litigation that will take your case on a contingency fee versus a retainer and allow you to pay their fees after you get some relief. That's my hope for you, dear. Okay. Good luck, mama.
Starting point is 00:56:53 Okay. Thank you so much. You're welcome. Hello, who's this? Hi, my name is Sabrina. How are you? Good morning, everyone. Good morning, Sabrina.
Starting point is 00:57:03 What's your question for Ebony K. Williams? So I purchased a home in 2020. So my mortgage was $2,500. And I told them in 2022, the bank said they made a mistake. I didn't have enough in escrow, so now the mortgage is
Starting point is 00:57:17 $3,402. Is that legal? Can they do that? First of all, congratulations on your home purchase, Sabrina. I would need a couple more facts to give you a solid answer. But the short answer is probably, actually. Because of the nature of the fiscal agreement between your lender and yourself, basically you were given a mortgage payment amount on a conditional term. And once they felt that they made a mistake, I hear you, it was their mistake
Starting point is 00:57:46 of not calculating the escrow account properly, but then you would have to carry the extra expense. That's likely the scenario. Okay. Remember, escrow can change depending. So if your tax goes up, your escrow can go up. Also, if you have an adjustable
Starting point is 00:58:02 rate, it can go up as well. And same thing with insurance, because insurance is an escrow as well. So if your insurance goes up, meaning there's a lot of stolen cars in your neighborhood, your insurance goes up, your escrow can go up as well. So you just need to find out why it went up. Check your escrow, because it happened to me the other day. Mine actually went down,
Starting point is 00:58:18 and I was trying to figure out what happened. I thought I wasn't paying enough. But depending on taxes and insurance, your escrow can go up and down. Okay, thank you so much. Goodrow can go up and down. Okay. Thank you so much. Good luck. Thank you, Ms. Sabrina. Hello.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Who's this? Hey, this is Kay. All right. What's your question for Ebony K. Williams? Okay. So I have a 70-year-old son. He's in second grade. He came home last week, Wednesday, and he told me that his teacher doing a lesson said that black people need to smile so that we can see them.
Starting point is 00:58:47 Whoa, whoa. Whoa. That's an old joke jesus christ that's an old school joke you can't tell me it ain't an old school joke oh my god go ahead miss k damn oh okay so i contacted the school the assistant principal she didn't seem as upset as i thought that she should have been that someone in her school is you know teaching kids this um I went a little further I decided to contact the teacher she did admit to me that it was something that she stated but and the purpose of stating that in in a lesson um I didn't like the way that then went so then I contacted the dean of the school I sent an email so that I can have a record of me contacting um I then got another call from the head principal long story short they moved
Starting point is 00:59:31 his class um which is what I was asking but he's not okay he's not okay mentally he's not okay emotionally even though he's only eight just turned eight on Sunday he's very in touch with his feelings um he doesn't understand why someone would say of a different color that his color, he has to smile to be seen. He just keeps saying, just turn on the light. He's crying.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Charlamagne, stop laughing. These are old school jokes, man. Okay, Ms. K, listen. Let me try to help you out here. This is horrific, what you're describing.'re describing actually not even joking with you I think you need to think about calling being crump I really do um because I think what you're going to have a case for is what we call emotional distress okay that's a tort claim that's a classic tort claim claim that says that someone has intentionally inflicted and by this in this case it would be the words right
Starting point is 01:00:25 uh saying something so outrageous horrendous um soul crushing to a young formative years your son seven the understanding identity who they are in this world which is already hard enough uh and for someone especially a white person even if a black teacher said this i want to be clear y'all right you still got a claim absolutely you know but a white teacher saying it makes it just more egregious towards your son so I think you got a legitimate emotional distress complaint and what does that look like uh in terms of money you would get damages to make sure your son has payment for his uh mental health treatment uh if he needs any anti-anxiety or anti-depression medication like so we would add all that up in the claim and so we want this times 10 15 20 for punitive damages yeah yeah call ben some civil rights attorney yeah good luck mama thank you so
Starting point is 01:01:15 much did you go to the school and and and call and teach us some names that's what i was gonna say i was gonna say you should have picked a little man with some jokes but you're right you gotta tell him stay on the floor he fell on the floor stay there you hurt you know what i mean oh okay okay yeah you're right but just just so you know just so charlamagne right teacher says something what would you respond i gotta see the teacher you know i'm saying if she white she gonna get some white jokes but what's she gonna say no i wouldn't say nothing racial no you know i mean i'll call it mayonnaise or something like that you know what i mean because that's not racial at all that's not racial at all that's all i would have to see the teacher though i'm sure that there's some good uh some good things that he could have said about the teacher but you're doing the right thing
Starting point is 01:01:58 cash out k teach us on the cash out you walk in the store and you slip and fall, you stay on that floor. You stay on that ground. You know, if somebody hits you in the back with a car, everything hurts. That's right. My neck, my back, my neck and my back. My neck and my back. You're doing the right thing.
Starting point is 01:02:13 You know what I mean? Those are some old school jokes. I've heard all of those. Yeah. By the way, I've used all of those. We used to use those back in the day. You know what I'm saying? A long time ago.
Starting point is 01:02:21 On each other. I never heard a teacher say that to a student. Not in 2023. No, no, no. I did hear teachers used to body shame back in my day you know i'm saying on each other i never heard a teacher yeah that's say that to a student not in 2023 no no no i did hear teachers used to body shame back in my day though really oh yeah yeah yeah teachers will call a kid fat in a minute they're fat ass yeah call a kid fat in a minute it wasn't nothing racially driven but they'll call a kid fat in a minute all right 800-585-1051 ebony k williams is still here yes and make sure if you want more of that legal advice man subscribe to uh the holding Holding Court Podcast with Ebony K. Williams, wherever you listen to podcasts. All right. Now, we got rumors on the way.
Starting point is 01:02:49 Tiffany Haddish, will she be doing Girls Trip 2? We'll find out when we come back. It's the Breakfast Club of the Morning. Is this Roe Timmy or this Weekend? Weekend. Weekend. How'd they do the same song in two years? Roe Timmy just did this song.
Starting point is 01:03:01 Yeah. He just did it. You played a Weekend for me right now. I wouldn't know who that is. That's the Weekend you said? That is the Weekend, right? You played a Roe Timmy one on the Week right now. I wouldn't know who that is. That's the weekend you said? That is the weekend, right? Okay, so you played a Rotimi one on the weekend. I still wouldn't know who that is. Same song. Same song. Okay. Well, morning, everybody. We are The Breakfast Club. We got our guest
Starting point is 01:03:14 host, Ebony K. Williams, joining us. Yes, indeed. And let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Tiffany Haddish. Rumor has it. Rumor has it. Call out her name or you gossiping or you chatty patting. I am gossiping. This is The Rumor Report. I mean, I guess we on The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:03:27 This is where the tea spills, right? Yes. On The Breakfast Club. All right. Now, we're talking Girls Trip 2. Now, Tiffany Haddish is speaking. Will she be a part of the next Girls Trip? Girls Trip 2.
Starting point is 01:03:40 Casey Oliver says Girls Trip 2 is coming out. She says it every year and I look forward to it. All right. There's a push for the film to come out. And there's also a little bit of a push saying that possibly you should be replaced or your character should be written out of Girl Trip 2. You know, as a result of the last
Starting point is 01:03:56 time traversing. I'm asking your opinion on that. I will do anything with those women. I love those people. I love everybody that works on that. And we had a blast. They want to work with me, I want to work with them. And for the record, I'd love to see you on Girl Trip 2. I would love to see that too. And I know that the girls would love it too. We talked about it often. I can't be concerned about what people think. I got to be concerned about how I feel.
Starting point is 01:04:20 When I look in the mirror, am I happy with what I see? Yes, ma'am. I would love to see her on Girls Trip 2. Of course. Absolutely. There's literally zero reason we shouldn't. Zero.
Starting point is 01:04:31 Like, Tiffany should be able to do Girls Trip 2. Like, that video has been online for years. She became a star with that video out there. And we all regret old content. And that old content
Starting point is 01:04:40 didn't keep her from being Tiffany Haddish or was it and stopped nothing now? And if I recall correctly, because we did cover this on Holden Court, I believe that family apologized to Tiffany Haddish or was sitting stopping nothing now. And if I recall correctly, because we did cover this on Holden Court, I believe that family
Starting point is 01:04:46 apologized to Tiffany Haddish. Yes. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. Have you been on a girl's trip? All the time. I take one every year.
Starting point is 01:04:53 I mean, what kind of question is this? She's an AKA. Exactly. It's mandatory. She's got an AKA shirt on right now. My wife just went
Starting point is 01:05:00 on a girl's trip. This was her first girl's trip ever. Oh, but didn't she stay back a really long time? She went for 20 days. That's what I heard. 20 days, yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:09 That's a long trip. But just watching them happen, because they got to pack. You got to make sure the weight is the right weight when you travel. Well, they're on certain kind of... No, that's because they on that PJ. No, they wasn't on that PJ. They was a Tyler. No, she's not.
Starting point is 01:05:21 She's not a Zayda. Don't do that. Taylor's mom's a Zayda, right? I don't know. No, I think Charlamagne just jokes. What? What's wrong with Zetas? Nothing.
Starting point is 01:05:29 Why did you say Zetas? I didn't say nothing. Charlamagne has to have a whole bunch of mad, blue and white Instagram messages. I didn't say nothing. I'm just saying, Ebony says Zetas don't go on trips. Stop.
Starting point is 01:05:38 A.K.A. his dude. That's what happened. I want to say shout out to my sister Greeks, the lovely women of Zeta Phi Beta. You better stop that so what about deltas what do deltas do then I have no idea
Starting point is 01:05:48 they fly delta wherever they go they go on a lot of trips look at all the deltas my mother-in-law's a delta okay they gonna give you that smoke later on
Starting point is 01:05:55 now Kate Michelle rightfully she put this on her Instagram yesterday on her social media she says question do y'all put your man's
Starting point is 01:06:04 love juice in your hair to grow? Am I late or something? Be honest. Your man's what? Love juice. What is love juice? Why y'all both looking at me like that? You don't know what
Starting point is 01:06:15 your man's love juice is? Oh! You're the sky man. Sometimes I'm like, this guy's slow. That's genius. How do you do this every day? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:06:23 How do you do this every day? I don't know. How do you do this every day? I don't know. It helps your hair grow? That's what she's asking. Is that true? I don't know. I have heard, I promise this ain't me, but I have heard women use it as a serum for skin cell turnover. Y'all gotta start making excuses for why y'all like
Starting point is 01:06:39 certain things. You know what I mean? That's why I like the Horrible Decisions podcast. They tell you not to kink shame. You know what I mean? If you like putting your man's love juice wherever you like to put it, just do it.
Starting point is 01:06:50 Let me ask you a question. No, I'm not going to ask you a question. I want to know. I want to know. God wants you to ask me. Okay, so. Don't bring God in this. Don't you do that.
Starting point is 01:06:58 I rebuke it in the name of Jesus. You talk about your struggles all the time about your hair growing. No, I don't. Yes, you do. I've never had that conversation. You talk about the struggles all the time About your hair growing No I don't Yes you do I've never had that conversation You talk about the struggles of your hair growing
Starting point is 01:07:09 I walk a nice baldy You talk about the struggles If you could You had the opportunity You would have more hair No I never said that Would you try this application? No Envy
Starting point is 01:07:18 I would not put a man's love juice in my hair Would you put your own love juice? No Well see what you missed Ebony Is he been flirting with me This is him flirting Stop flirting Cause I cut it out I told him this year I'm not gonna Would you put your own love juice? No. Well, see what you missed, Ebony, is he'd been flirting with me. This is him flirting. It's not flirting. Because I cut it out.
Starting point is 01:07:26 I told him this year I'm not going to be gay. And he'd been trying to flirt with me all year long. Was that why he was licking his lips yesterday? Yes. I didn't know him. If somebody put a compilation together
Starting point is 01:07:36 for the week, all right, okay, of all the times he's tried. I'm absolutely happy, too. So, I am actually pursuing a single motherhood journey. No, that's the clip that we discussed that they were supposed to play.
Starting point is 01:07:48 That's the clip that was supposed to be there. That's how it was produced. Because then we were going to talk about it next hour. That's what me and Ebony were speaking about. We didn't convey that to y'all producers. No, we did. We had a real conversation. Yes, we did.
Starting point is 01:07:57 Oh. Oh, now the clip's in. Go ahead. But you're also dating again. My dentist, who is so sweet, Dr. Horry, here in Manhattan, said, I know a really great guy for you. I really want you to meet him. I'm like, doctor, I'm kind of busy creating embryos and writing a book. But, okay, she did introduce me.
Starting point is 01:08:13 I think I might have been ghosted. Oh, no. I know. I'm to the club. But we'll see. My DMs and phone are still open. Woo! Oh, you're going to get some answers.
Starting point is 01:08:23 Did he pick you up with somebody and then he goes to you thank you i think it should change dentists that's all now since this is live radio and you know we are very transparent with our breakfast club listeners yes aren't we discussing this in a few minutes right but that's what we're doing we were going to start it now and start the conversation now open up the phone lines talk to women talk about the process of having a child that's what we said i thought we were gonna start the conversation after no we said we'll do it during the rumors and then we talk it out now this y'all show i'm doing i'm going where y'all want to go all right wherever y'all want to go so let's talk about the process you have the process
Starting point is 01:09:01 of actually freezing your eggs right so when i start with talking about what a single motherhood journey is by choice because that's the that's the new part uh i was raised by a beautiful single mother many of us are products of single mothers and no single mothers in our culture uh but the difference is doing it by choice not circumstance right um so whose love juice are you using i have a a lovely... That's a great question. I bought it. The answer... I purchased love juice. But do you have like... Does he have to be tall?
Starting point is 01:09:30 Does he have to be successful? Yeah, let's talk about... There was a whole criteria... Well, for the money I paid, Negro. You can't... Who are you talking to right now? Let's talk... Sir.
Starting point is 01:09:42 We'll do it after Donkin. I want to hear from a lot of women out there That's thinking about going through the process Or actually going through the process 805-85-1051 Let's get into donkey next Who you giving that donkey to bro? Oh man, four after the hour
Starting point is 01:09:53 I'm not even joking when I say this I've never heard of a story like this We need a woman named Sharaban K To come to the front of the congregation We'd like to have a word with her I bet you've never heard anything like this Alright, we'll get to that next It's The Breakfast Club club good morning the breakfast club
Starting point is 01:10:06 your mornings will never be the same looking to turn a small bet into a big payday with draft king sportsbook same game parlays you can pocket more cash when you combine multiple bets from one game download the app sign up with code envy that's e-N-V-Y, and get a special offer. Starting point is 01:10:37 You are a donkey. It's time for Donkey of the Day. Donkey of the Day, huh? I'm going to fatten all that shit around your eyes. They want this man to throw them blows, man. They wait for charlamagne to tap these gloves let's go you have to make the judgment of who was going to be on the donkey of the day they chose you the breakfast club bitches who's donkey of the day today well and sharon donkey of the day for thursday february 2nd goes to a young woman named sharaban k okay uh that's what she's been identified as I don't know what the K stands for on her birth certificate but for today for today's e-hall that K stands for killer
Starting point is 01:11:09 because allegedly that's what she is now your uncle Charlotte is a grown man okay I was born in the 1900s and at my big age I've seen and heard a lot of things I actually thought I saw it all but the beauty of life is if you live long enough you will quickly realize you haven't seen nothing yet and I believe that it's safe for me to say I have never in my 44 years of existence on this planet seen or heard a story like this. OK, see, Shara Banquet decided she wanted to fake her own death. Now, we've always heard about people faking their own deaths, but none have ever been like like proven. Right. For our generation, Tupac Shak is the go-to faker of death allegedly that was a conspiracy theory before the internet and the internet just amplified the conspiracy theory
Starting point is 01:11:50 but there have been people who have actually faked their death uh go do your googles look up uh john darwin he faked the drowning in 2002 because he was looking for a life insurance payout then they found him a year later in london uh samuel israel was a former hedge fund manager he got convicted of a ponzi scheme in 2008 so he abandoned his car in upstate new york and they found his car with the words suicide is painless written uh in the dust on the hood of the car but officers knew he didn't kill himself they found him hiding out living in an rb with his girlfriend a month later so there are real life examples you can point to in regards to folks faking their death. I guess what I was saying earlier is I don't know if any have ever been successful.
Starting point is 01:12:29 I don't know if anybody's faked their death and like gotten away with it. OK, but there is one common theme to these fake deaths. All right. When these people fake a death, nobody has ever really hurt in the faking of their death. If it was a movie or a TV show, that's what would be in the end credits. Like nobody was hurt in the faking of this death. Well this sharaban k situation that's not the case see sharaban k allegedly killed murdered massacred slaughtered a 23 year old beauty blogger named khadijah o okay poor khadijah was stabbed more than 50 times with her body left in the back seat of sharaban's mercedes and then sharaban and her boyfriend went into hiding.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Now, when the body was found, police traced the car's registration, the Sharaban K's family, and given the corpse had been disfigured, investigators assumed that Sharaban was the victim. Now, the only time I've seen something like this work was with Ray Gibson and Claude Banks in the movie Life, when they stole the bodies from the morgue and put them in the fire so they can escape well guess what this ain't a movie dog okay cops might have thought it was you for a second but everybody listening to me knows what came next because it happens to everybody after they pass it's called an autopsy okay and the
Starting point is 01:13:42 autopsy immediately let them know this is a shabby okay the actual DNA let them know immediately that it was Khadija oh so this woman's share a man went on Instagram and and she was contacting women just contacted several women who looked like her just so she could kill one and go into hiding due to internal disputes with her family that's why she decided she needed to fake her own death internal disputes with her family. That's why she decided she needed to fake her own death, internal disputes with her family. She started sending the victim messages about cosmetics, and that's how she enticed the victim into meeting up with her by offering her a set of beauty products. Now listen, y'all know one of my favorite books is the 48 Laws of Power.
Starting point is 01:14:20 I've read it several times, referenced it, go back to it all the time. Law 29 in the 48 Laws of Power is plan all the way to the end. Okay. 48 laws of power tells you that the ending is everything. All right. Plan all the way to it, taking into account all the possible consequences, obstacles, and twists of fortune that might reverse your hard work and give the glory to others. Okay. By by planning to the end you will not be overwhelmed by circumstances and you will know when to stop okay know when to stop you gently guide fortune and help determine the future by thinking far ahead now this shouldn't apply to murder but it does because a plan is a plan and at some point in this plan shara ban kay are her boyfriend who's an accomplice should have said to, this won't work because of the autopsy.
Starting point is 01:15:06 An autopsy is performed to determine the cause of death, to observe the effects of disease and to establish the evolution and mechanisms of disease processes. It can do all of that. So the least it can do is identify a body. So that alone should have made them abort mission on their plan. But no, she still decided to go on Instagram and find a lookalike to kill. We really got to stress to people. Don't talk to strangers. OK, especially on social media. Social media got us all too comfortable with violating basic rules of life that we learn when we kids. All right. Don't talk to strangers.
Starting point is 01:15:37 Stop letting people violate your boundaries and into your space just because you follow each other on social media. And I promise you you there is other ways to resolve conflict all right you having issues with your family so you decided the solution to that is to kill someone in order to fake your death so you don't have to deal with the family issues i'm not understanding this math equation y'all okay i feel like i'm trying to help my daughter with this new math they got in these schools because this just simply doesn't add up please give Shara Bain Kay and her boyfriend the biggest hee-haw I don't get it I don't get it because normally like you said jokes aside but back to the life movie I've seen this they're just still a corpse why'd you actually have to go kill somebody
Starting point is 01:16:25 but why does she think that was gonna work when you know there's gonna be an autopsy performed on the body didn't know didn't plan for the end how do you not know how do you not know they don't do autopsy i have no idea i don't get it and then the the fact that you have internal family issues and that's where your mind goes not you know family counseling or just block them or just block them stop dealing with your family like like that's where your mind goes i gotta find me a lookalike to kill to fake my own death to get away from my family i i don't get it bro all right i don't get it well thank you for that donkey today yes now since we're talking life yes now ebony k williams you were talking about uh you freezing your eggs in that process single for that donkey today. Yes. Now, since we're talking life. Yes. Now, Ebony K. Williams,
Starting point is 01:17:05 you were talking about you freezing your eggs and that process. Single motherhood journey. Yes. So I am at the big age of 39. I'll be the big 4-0 in September. Hey.
Starting point is 01:17:15 Hey. So it's that time. And it's interesting. I froze eggs at 34. Thinking that I would never use them. And that's very important. We were talking offline with Ms. Taylor over here.
Starting point is 01:17:25 A lot of young ladies, and I use young relatively loosely, to me, if you're 28 to 36, go ahead and try to stack your coins. It's not cheap. I want to be clear. You're talking about 15 racks? Easy, maybe up to 20. 15 racks to freeze your eggs. Just to freeze the eggs.
Starting point is 01:17:42 And then there's monthly maintenance, correct? Yearly. Yearly maintenance. About 1,000. I've been paying rent for children i don't have yet correct literally a thousand dollars a year just to house the eggs which now have become embryos okay what got you to this uh this point though like you know the pandemic a little bit all right um y'all know i came out of uh an engagement I absolutely, I was actually with my ex when I froze the eggs at 34 thinking, A, I don't think I want no damn kids, or B, if I do want
Starting point is 01:18:12 them, obviously it will be with my partner. Once that ended, kept living life, this pandemic, y'all really had me look at legacy differently. I feel I'm doing important work in the world. I feel god's blessing me to to to make a make a little little something make a couple dollars change look look look
Starting point is 01:18:30 little change and who am i leaving it for like all this for what to what ends i mean you guys are fathers i i assume for a reason you've built beautiful families you have legacy to pass on i wanted legacy so you you said that uh you got to pick the love juice of the man so you can customize yeah so tell us about this human so let's talk about oh my specimen yeah yeah how do you pick it is it a book or it's it's like online dating it's so let's get to it what is very difficult what is very difficult because y'all are dumb is uh finding black sperm whoa really yeah i'm i you know a lot of people try to humble black men i don't y'all should know you have the stuff of gold uh washington post actually just did a whole feature piece about how hard it
Starting point is 01:19:19 is for black women or this is a whole nother thing there's a lot of non-black and white women who are on the quest to have these beautiful mixed kids so they are intentionally buying black sperm black sperm is the hardest stuff to get on the market of sperm donation that sounds wild doesn't it no and i'm gonna tell you why black sperm is hard to get number one these banks um now listen you can go to the club go to the bar and and just get some love juice get some black sperm get some love juice for free but if you want to go this kind of intentional to your point i love 48 hours of uh uh 48 rules uh laws of power i'm a rules power laws of power uh i'm planning this y'all with specificity so i wanted to go to the cadillac dealership of sperm donation california cryo there's only a few in the country and um i'll tell you about some of the details that went into my
Starting point is 01:20:11 criteria when we come back all right and what is the question so we can start uh getting these calls you know i didn't realize that was the producer over there i thought that was somebody over there waving i'm here for you no no that was eddie oh like to donate eddie's our producer so what is the question 800-585-1051 I just want to hear from more women that's on this journey I want to know about are there women that are
Starting point is 01:20:34 willing to consider single motherhood by choice and if so what age does that look like and if you do what kind of donor do you want alright let's talk about it it's the breakfast club good morning the breakfast club If you do, what kind of donor do you want? All right, let's talk about it. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Is your country falling apart?

Starting point is 01:21:02 It's surprisingly easy.
Starting point is 01:21:18 My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets.

Starting point is 01:24:50 Daphne Caruana Galizia was a Maltese investigative journalist who on October 16th, 2017, was murdered. There are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate. My name is Manuel Delia. I am one of the hosts of Crooks Everywhere, a podcast that unhurts the plot to murder a one-woman Wikileaks. Daphne exposed the culture of crime and corruption that were turning her beloved country into a mafia state. And she paid the ultimate price. Listen to Crooks everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's topic time. Call 800-585-1051 to join in to the discussion with The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:25:51 Let's talk about it. Morning everybody, it's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Our guest host Ebony K. Williams is here. So, you were talking about this journey. Black sperm. Freezing your eggs and looking for, I guess, a donor Yes
Starting point is 01:26:06 So tell us this person that you were looking for So it was important for me to have Black sperm matters, first of all Black sperm matters We gotta start with that premise Black sperm absolutely matters And I wanted a black donor because I am a black woman who feels confident enough
Starting point is 01:26:24 This is already scary let me just start with that because I know a lot of people are probably thinking a lot of things like who would intentionally bring a child into the world with only one parent especially just where we live in if I didn't think I had the basic resources y'all to give this child love support fiscal education
Starting point is 01:26:39 and then build community you know because black men and men in general will be important part of this journey. But I'm gonna try to outsource it. So I wanted a black sperm donor because I am a black woman. I know a lived black experience. I didn't want to run the risk of a non-black donor and then have a have a Meghan Markle situation basically where a kid that I can't relate to their experience.
Starting point is 01:27:00 So I wanted him to be black. That already took me literally down to on a site of 300 active donors at a time, I was down to three. Wow. Just that quick. Wow. Yeah. And then you asked about height. I'm not really a heightist.
Starting point is 01:27:14 I asked the height because he's short. Yeah. You know, that was messy. Just a little bit. Short people who live longer. Yeah. And they say they make better husbands. That's a fact.
Starting point is 01:27:23 That's what they say. That's a fact. I don't know. That's the data. I told you to research. Yeah, so anyways, I did want to go they I think they've got five feet to five five five six to six one and then like six two to six five It was I got the middle cat five seven to six. Yeah, you want a six-foot child? I'm all for this. I got I got a couple of homegirls who are doing this, a couple of homegirls who have already frozen their eggs.
Starting point is 01:27:48 They've been open about it. Angela Rye, Kendra G. But it kind of saddens me a little bit only because I'm like, what are we doing as men that these great women are out here and they got to do this? Well, I'm going to be candid with you. Again, anybody could go get the club shut up i mean let's be clear i'm really not if you're not the love of my life and
Starting point is 01:28:13 also somebody i trust to make business decisions with i'm really not trying to co-parent with you there's certain things y'all at this point in my life at almost 40 i'm really not trying to negotiate with you about getting my child immunized i'm it in my life at almost 40 i'm really not trying to negotiate with you about getting my child immunized i'm it's non-negotiable i'm not playing with you when it comes to my kids education there's certain you know what i mean like if i'm and i know that might not sit well with everybody that's not so politically correct but i think i'd rather go it alone but let me ask you a question you know the the thing that's that's kind of ill to me is you know because there's there's a lot of brothers that actually donate their sperm because a lot of them need the money right yes i never heard that
Starting point is 01:28:48 before in real life i thought that was just a thing that people said you get paid for it you just don't give your sperm away for nothing you get paid for it and they recruit college kids for that reason because think about how broke you are in college i didn't want to say this but you know it's the breakfast club you know talking about uh colonoscopies that today colonoscopy colonoscopy okay well i've actually had one. Ask me why. Why? Because I'm not a man and I'm certainly not 50.
Starting point is 01:29:09 Well, women get them as well. They do, but not at 19. You was a guinea pig? I was a guinea pig in college. Wow. How much did you got paid? $300. Damn.
Starting point is 01:29:20 Yeah. Well, I know a guy that's got an ass playing him for cheaper. No! I felt rich On college campus Yeah yeah yeah Wow So okay Alright
Starting point is 01:29:28 You know Cause I was just asking Cause you know If a donor does give it Give the sperm I don't know if I wanna meet my Meet that sperm At
Starting point is 01:29:36 I don't know man That sperm grow to be LeBron James That's something different You know what I'm saying That's something different You know me I was there for you When nobody else was
Starting point is 01:29:44 You are so stupid I was there for you When nobody else was You are so stupid I was there for you When nobody else was Let's go to the phone lines A lot of women want to talk Hello, who's this? Hi, good morning This is Amber
Starting point is 01:29:54 Hey Amber, talk to us So I was just listening First of all, good morning everyone Good morning Amber I worked for A typical agency In New York And in New Jersey.
Starting point is 01:30:06 And I realized how many black women face this. And I actually wanted to donate my eggs. And I wasn't because I never wanted children. I wanted to donate my eggs. And it wasn't until then that I realized I had my own fertility issues. Oh, wow. And that started my process. I was vaccinated with PCOS.
Starting point is 01:30:26 A lot of women suffer from that, and it causes infertility issues. And it wasn't until then that I said, hey, wait, what about what I'm going to have for my future? When that opportunity no longer became a choice, that's when I started to desire. Wow. And a lot of women go through that. They think they have all these choices over their body,
Starting point is 01:30:46 especially reproduction. And sometimes you just don't. Okay. That's facts. I was talking to one of my homegirls. She's 37 and she's mad. She's angry.
Starting point is 01:30:55 And she says, you know why? Because I go to the doctor, I do everything everyone told me to do. Why did nobody tell me that I'm born with all the eggs
Starting point is 01:31:02 I'm ever going to have? Because a lot of people don't know that. Y'all will produce sperm until the day you die correct we as women are born with every single egg we will ever have and all they do is deplenish in quality and viability as we age so why are we 38 39 here for the first time oh yeah you should have froze eggs 10 years ago right i love the intentionality of it though like i love the fact that women are being intentional about yo i want to have kids i'm gonna freeze my eggs and i'm gonna find the right you know donor to do it but it's very expensive and insurance doesn't cover it yeah and you know i have a lot of friends as well that's doing the same and you know you
Starting point is 01:31:37 feel bad because you want them to do it early so that way they have the pick of the litter as they say you know the most yes i got you yeah i mean yeah it's like cringe but yes it's i believe that black sperm is scarce very scarce i'm gonna tell you how scarce it is got plenty let me you know what's funny when i did nick show with shout out to you charlamagne because he's aware of me uh through you he said he he was honest he said you're so amazing and he said but i ain't i ain't but i and i don't know any dudes that are not that's what he said that's what he said whenever my homegirls ask me about dude i'm like i'm not getting involved in that i'm not introducing
Starting point is 01:32:15 you to nobody that's what he said because i don't know anybody that's ready i for me personally i need brothers to be doing the work on their self in a real way you know what i'm saying if i know brothers are doing the work and you know're really ready to settle down and come to you as a more healed version of themselves, cool. Other than that, I don't get involved. Let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. I want to talk to some more women out there that's going through the process right now.
Starting point is 01:32:38 Now, let me ask you a question. If Nick was actually doing it for a lot of these women that weren't able to have babies, is it bad? We already seen she's got to have it, sir. We? We already seen she's got to have it, sir. We don't need a she's got to have it part two. All right. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:32:49 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We have Ebony K. Williams here. Now, we were talking about her process of having a child, freezing the eggs and picking the right sperm donor and all that. Yeah. So let me ask you, would you pick the mixed black man? Or do you want fully black?
Starting point is 01:33:08 Like you? I'm not. He's Dominican. I'm just messing with you. He's Dominican, I'm actually. I'm glad you acknowledge he's Dominican. No, I'm fully black. But I'm saying because you said you want a black man, but I'm sure there's a bunch of
Starting point is 01:33:20 mixed. Maybe, you know. Not a bunch. Not even a bunch. Man, y'all think I'm playing. I'm playing. Anybody that even physically presents as black brown is very difficult so to my threshold was you need to appear black your pair black and i i got somebody who is black do you think that before we go to
Starting point is 01:33:37 the phone do you think a lot of men black men aren't donating this firm because number one they may not know about it or number two a lot of black men got conspiracy theories they don't even like to do dna tests because they feel like they're being cloned and all kind of i think it's three reasons black men have conspiracy theories for i think fair reasons number two there's so much nasty stigma around black men even being fathers you know there's so much narrative around black men having too many kids they don't take care of or this that and the third so who wants to add to that also these, these elite sperm banks that women with the means like myself use, they recruit
Starting point is 01:34:07 on like Ivy League college campuses. They're not going to Morehouse. They're not going to Howard. They're not going to Hampton. They're going to MIT. They're going to Stanford. And they're going to Harvard where you don't have the plethora of black men that we need. Let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 01:34:24 Hi, this is Jerrica. Hey, good morning. Tell us your story. What's up, mama? I don't feel like it's a good idea for black men to donate to the fur bank. What they have is royal gold and it should be kept to themselves.
Starting point is 01:34:40 It don't need to be for these other races to come and try to have these filthy babies And use our beauty Our beauty comes with Oppression, trials, and tribulations No But sis, what about us black women That want the pure gold
Starting point is 01:34:55 Well, we need to have Use your platform And get us our own sperm bank Oh, okay I'm with you You have to know the history get us our own sperm bank where the entrance is like you're entering through like Harvard or something. You have to know the history.
Starting point is 01:35:09 You have to know. You want us to bank black is what you're saying. You have to know how to do your kids' hair. They don't even know how to do their kids' hair. She's talking about white moms or non-black women who have these mixed race little swirly
Starting point is 01:35:25 kids. Yeah. And they be walking around looking like Angelina Jolie's daughter when she was first born. Got you. Got you. I think that's... They don't know how to do hair is what you're saying. That's what she was saying.
Starting point is 01:35:33 As an entrepreneur, that might be a HBCU sperm bank. Actually, that's brilliant. Yeah, being black. Being black. No, for real. Yeah. For real. You get all the sperms and you can get like Q's and Kappas and Alphas.
Starting point is 01:35:46 GPA is very important. GPA is important. I got to pick GPA. You can pick GPA. I wanted a hard science major because that's not really my ministry. That's good. You can advertise for all you brothers out there who want to be a positive deadbeat daddy. This is your opportunity.
Starting point is 01:36:00 Stop it. Hello, Liz. I got five kids, but they don't want me to take care of them. Hello? Hello? Hey, what's your name, mama? Hi, my name is Rima. Hey, Rima, talk to us.
Starting point is 01:36:15 Know what I know now? I have a child, like, he's eight, and I've been doing parenting by myself for eight years. So I feel like if I had the funds back then, and if I know what I do now, I would take the route of going through the process of having a child without the parent. Yep.
Starting point is 01:36:34 I say that to alleviate the pain and the back history of having to explain to your child why the parent isn't there. That part. Also having to deal with the financial burden of taking and carrying the child by yourself. If you're really going to end up being a single parent, being a sole provider for your child. Anyway, you know. No, I appreciate that.
Starting point is 01:36:55 And actually, I want to say something about that. The data says, because some of my married women friends have been a little judgy, to be candid. And that's, i kind of understand um you know the data says that it's not the two-parent household that makes a difference it's the change in household so if you were born and raised to a single parent that you you tend to condition pretty normal it's when your parents were together and then divorce that's where they see the trauma that's where they see the dropping of grades that's where they see the behavioral issues yeah i was gonna say that too i think this situation would be different because like there's no there's no trauma involved like you know i've read your
Starting point is 01:37:31 book bet on black and you talk about you know the trauma of not having your father but in this situation it's different you know there's choice yeah you you were not you were not abandoned that's right you're not forgotten about you're not being denied that's right. You're not forgotten about. You're not being denied. That's right. You had a mother that had a couple dollars and wanted you so, so badly. That's right. That I shot myself in the butt. I shot myself in the stomach. I spent all my savings at the time just to create you and bring you into this world. Hard up.
Starting point is 01:37:58 Yeah. Like, how much do I love you? Yeah. You know? All right. Well. You better act right, too. Is there a moral to the story to me i mean just
Starting point is 01:38:06 me personally the moral of the story boy it's really hard out here for black women yeah lord have mercy this is why black love is revolutionary you know i'm saying a black man and a black woman having kids growing a family is it's a revolutionary act and this is why i encourage black men to be with black women because of this reason word Word to Dr. Umar. Word to Dr. Umar. Can we please not make the moral of this story, Dr. Umar? But that's the one thing, Dr. Umar, he's right about that. That's the one thing I can agree with him on wholeheartedly. Black men need
Starting point is 01:38:34 to be with black women. I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm just not gonna give that much credit to Dr. Umar. We're not ending my personal, deeply personal narrative with shout out to Dr. Umar. We're not doing that. So what if Dr. Umar. We're not ending my personal, deeply personal narrative with shout out to Dr. Umar. We're not doing that. So what if Dr. Umar sperm-
Starting point is 01:38:48 Good night. Good night. What's next? Room of Report? What's next? We got Room of Report up next. We got another donkey of the day. We're going to talk about-
Starting point is 01:38:55 This one going to Charlemagne. Divorces when we come back. It's the breakfast club. Get the hell out of here. Room of Hazard. Room of Hazard. Call out a name or you gossiping or you chatting this is the rumor report i mean i guess we on the breakfast club this is where the tea spills right
Starting point is 01:39:10 yes on the breakfast club all right talking all that baby talk we got to talk some divorces now all right now we got to start with neo neo uh his divorce with his wife crystal is finalized now uh people are asking you know what is he getting what is she getting well uh his wife his Crystal, is finalized. Now, people are asking, you know, what is he getting? What is she getting? Well, his wife, his ex-wife, will get a $1.6 million lump sum. That's to balance out their real estate holdings. She will also get $20,000 in moving expenses, a $150,000
Starting point is 01:39:36 check to his ex so she can buy a new car because he's taking the old one, which is a Bentley truck. What does he get? He gets a Bentley truck. He also has to pay $12,000 a month which is a Bentley truck. What does he get? He gets a Bentley truck. He gets a Bentley truck. He also has to pay $12,000 a month in child support. After the 1.6 lump sum?
Starting point is 01:39:56 Yes, and $5,000 a month in alimony for the next three years. The 1.6, Char, is a real estate cash out. It's for real estate, yeah. Oh, got you, got you, got you, got you. Okay. All right, so that's that. DJ Mustard and his wife reach a temporary deal. Now she was seeking $82,000, but it looks like the court approved $35,000 a month in spousal support.
Starting point is 01:40:15 So she'll get $35,000 a month. She'll live nice. And they have three children. She'll live real nice. Definitely live nice. It's always because of the lifestyle that they used to live, right? That's why they get awarded these big lump sums, right? Grown accustomed, Charlamagne.
Starting point is 01:40:28 Yeah, grown accustomed to. Grown accustomed to. Yeah, I mean, but in some cases, it's right. Like, you don't want to take your kids from living luxury and then all of a sudden they got to live here. And your dad is still living in this mansion and I'm not, you know, it's going to affect their kids. Yeah, I know a rich human who had to buy his ex-wife the same type of house they live in in the same neighborhood. Oh, he's filthy. Oh, no, he's got it.
Starting point is 01:40:51 He got it. He got it. He got it. He got it. I mean, I'm not mad at any of that. You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, God forbid, if anything like that ever happened to me and my wife, she take take half. Like we've been together 25 years.
Starting point is 01:41:06 They all say that. Nah. Get that prenup, nup sis nah but at the end of the day you want you want your kids to live the way that they live in now you know you want your wife raises your kids yeah i don't know how long they've been together the mustards and the neos i think mustard was with his uh wife before they before he even started i know neo i think I think, was... They had three kids, so it was... The issue with what you just said, though, theoretically, that makes sense, right? Like, of course, why would a good parent of either gender not want their kid... Spike shows up. So it's not that
Starting point is 01:41:34 I want my kid to live a messed up lifestyle. It's F that... Yeah, I guess it depends how... That's how that shows up. I guess it depends how y'all break up, you know what I'm saying? If y'all just grow apart, that's different. But you still want the mother of your child to be okay taking care of the kids.
Starting point is 01:41:47 Unless she cheated on you. Exactly. Unless she cheated on you. Exactly. Even if she cheated on you, though, you want your kids to be good. The kids will be fine.
Starting point is 01:41:54 It ain't got nothing to do with her. Oh, you're right. That's what they'll say. But you want your kids good. Yeah. All right. Now, what?
Starting point is 01:42:01 Ebony had a word for people that, when you've been with somebody for a long time, like, if you started with them Oh, what did I don't remember You said it today? You called him an angel investor
Starting point is 01:42:11 Angel investor Yeah, that's Mustard's wife was an angel investor Yeah What is that? You invested It was literally from the beginning From the very beginning
Starting point is 01:42:18 when it was just a dream Jeff Bezos' wife was an angel investor Absolutely Mackenzie should get every dime that she got I got in a whole fight about that one time at Impassion Square Garden. It was terrible.
Starting point is 01:42:28 Really? With someone I was dating at the time. We just started arguing about that? Yes. Really? He was like,
Starting point is 01:42:33 that must be some great poom poom. I was like, play a what? Nah, it ain't got nothing to do with the poom poom. That got to do with the fact she was
Starting point is 01:42:40 shooting in the gym. She built Amazon with him in the garage. That's right. Stop playing. That's right. All right. And lastly, we got to congratulate Missy Elliott and Tribe Called Quest.
Starting point is 01:42:49 They're among the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for this year's induction. So they revealed the list of Missy Elliott, Tribe Called Quest, Sheryl Crow, Cindy Lopper, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, The Spinners, The White Stripes, and some other people I don't know. I say this all the time. Every time this happens every year, they got to get rid of the rock and roll. Just call it the music hall of fame. Drop the rock and roll.
Starting point is 01:43:19 Because whenever I hear that, I don't be feeling happy for the Missy Elliotts and Tribe Called Quest. Because they've been icons. They've been great. Drop on a Clues Bomb for them. But still, change it to just a music hall of fame why they gotta be one genre of music and I wonder why they wait so long like a group like Tribe Called Quest right like all members are not there yeah you know one member passed away Spife Dog passed away so you would love to you know see him get his flowers you know yeah when he can still smell them that's right I wonder why they take
Starting point is 01:43:44 so long to do it because they deserved it a long time ago twice as hard for half as much that's your saying that's it but now we're coming for what everything that's right all right well that is your rumor report the people's choice mixes up next get your request in now it's the breakfast club good morning the breakfast club your mornings will never be the same. Starting point is 01:44:25 We are The Breakfast Club. Our guest host, Ebony K. Williams, is here. Hey. It's Black History Month. What we doing? Hey, man. It's Black History Month. And you know, during Black History Month, the Black Effect Podcast Network with iHeartRadio,
Starting point is 01:44:36 we put out a podcast every day called I Didn't Know Maybe You Didn't Need It, hosted by my guy, B-Dot, man. And B-Dot gives these uh black history facts that you may or may not have known and today the good brother b-dot is going to be discussing literacy let's listen i didn't know maybe you didn't i didn't know i didn't know so dig after the civil war a lot of states enacted literacy tests as a voting requirement now the purpose of course was to exclude people with minimal literacy, in particular, poor African-Americans in the South. After a simple Google search,
Starting point is 01:45:11 I came upon a sample voter registration application featuring a literacy test that was used by W.C. Patton, who was the head of the NAACP voter registration program. And he would use this sample to educate African-American voters before they went to register to vote. Now, first, let me read the directions. This test is to be given to anyone who cannot prove a fifth grade education. Do what you are told to do in each statement. Nothing more, nothing less. Be careful as one wrong answer denotes failure of the test.
Starting point is 01:45:44 You have 10 minutes to complete the 20-question test. Moral of the story is, this was super insulting. And thank God for the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1965. Because if we hadn't had it, we'd still be taking these literacy tests just to get our ass beat in line attempting to vote. Listen, if I've piqued your interest enough to want to know what some of those ridiculous questions were on the test you can listen to this full episode on the black effect podcast network but be prepared to be irate because i didn't know maybe you didn't either that's right i bet you didn't know that and if you did you read a lot
Starting point is 01:46:23 okay but make sure you subscribe to i didn't know maybe you didn't know that. And if you did, you read a lot. OK, but make sure you subscribe to I didn't know. Maybe you didn't either on the Black Effect podcast network available everywhere you listen to podcasts. All right. When we come back, we got the positive notice to Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club. Ebony K. Williams, we appreciate you for joining us these last two days. So much fun. More fun than I could have imagined. And we know you're busy. You had to do the view yesterday. You've been promoting your book
Starting point is 01:46:50 Bet on Black, which is out right now. Great read. If you haven't got it yet, go get it. Read it. Thank you, baby. Never too busy for y'all. This is one of my favorite places to be in the world. My safe haven. And you know that's true because she said it in the book. It's in writing for life. Those words will outlive me really i'm gonna read the book this
Starting point is 01:47:09 week and this week and i gotta travel so i'm on the plane i'm gonna read it real quick though why do you think it's so important to uh sending your blackness out for the example you just gave when you talked about uh renaming the rock and roll hall of fame to the music hall of fame it's called rock and roll why they're centering whiteness that's the whole reason so when we shift that paradigm right when we reframe our thinking and we say we get to center our experiences without apology it gives us a sense of excite it's exciting to be black i wake up excited every day to be a black woman in america and that's why it's funny though because you can see it when you show up on shows like yesterday on the view like you can see that you can't wait to show up in your full blackness and when they
Starting point is 01:47:48 asked you about ron desantis and what he's doing with african-american curriculum ebony was like what camera let's play the audio let's hear it governor desantis hi there ebony k williams here i take great exception to your characterization that a degree in black studies is something other than academic. I actually hold a degree in black studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also hold a law degree, an honorary doctorate. How much time do we have? And I assure you, I am wholly qualified and academically elite. So I would encourage you to revisit your thinking on that one. There you go. And it's refreshing because i know that
Starting point is 01:48:25 they don't get that on daytime television correct no they don't get that straight talk like that but you know what it is and i'll talk about this truthfully in the book bet on black i wasn't always at this place it was an evolution for me i have to be honest about that and i want people to think that i just popped out the womb it took me a long almost 40 years to get to a place where i've divorced myself from white comfort we talked about that a year ago um and i'm really excited and proud to enter and center blackness in every space so all right that's right go get bet on black by fdk williams available everywhere you buy books right now i love y'all leave us on a positive note uh the positive note is this man it's a quote from dr wayne w dia uh with everything that has happened to you you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift okay everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle
Starting point is 01:49:09 to keep you from growing you get to choose that's the beauty of life people breakfast club bitches you're all finished or y'all done had enough of this country ever dreamt about starting your own i planted the flag this is mine i own I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Or maybe not. No country willingly gives up their territory. Oh my God. What is that?
