Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. The World Cup is underway and it's been incredible. On our podcast, The O-A-N, with Danielle Alarcon and John Green, we're talking about the games that have delighted us, the teams that have inspired us, what we're loving and what surprised us, all through the lens of being massive fans of the world's most beautiful game.
Starting point is 00:00:19 Daniel, this tournament has been magical so far. There's so much to love and I can hardly believe the drama that the group stage brought us. And now it's time for us to talk about the teams that are left as the field is whittled down to one World Cup champion on July 19th. Listen to the Way-N with Danielle Alarcon and John Green on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's Latino USA. I'm Maria Innojosa. I sit down with New York City Mayor Zora Mandani to talk about sports, immigration, politics, and the serious question of what makes a great New York City taco.
Starting point is 00:00:54 But Mr. Mayor, as a Mexican, what have I done? What makes the best taco in New York City? Oh my God. Listen to Latino USA on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is Michael Rappaport, and my podcast, the I Am Rapaport Stereo podcast, is unlike anyone you've ever heard. If you're looking for strong opinions about sports, entertainment, politics, pop culture, and whatever else catches my attention, then subscribe now. This kid, Jafar Jackson, should absolutely positively get nominated for his particular. The trail is Michael Jackson.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Listen to I Am Rap Report on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place. I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit, season two, is about both of those things. As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority black city in which there were more amages to enslave. than there were to enslave people. Listen to Rebel Spirit season two on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

Starting point is 00:02:41 I hosted a cookout at my house. We did third annual. We always do a big cookout, but this is the third annual one that we did. We did it at my home this time. And my husband and our family and friends came over. We had, like, some good food. The good vibes. Kids in the pool.
Starting point is 00:02:56 We did the big fireworks show. And don't know if I did it. talk about the labor of love enough because yo hosting is a lot it's a lot and then the day after you clean up and everything and the day two days before you I saw your video with Marley y'all was prepping yes we was prepping
Starting point is 00:03:10 and all the building stuff like like for real we he built like two big gazebos and he put together like everything literally I know Shalaman had a ball this information very on brand very own brand very old brand we put in cowboy boots went out there built the tents built the the children's furniture everything but it was
Starting point is 00:03:27 it was real fun it was real fun and then today is my husband's birthday. Oh wow. So you was turned up all weekend. I couldn't even turn up because I'm cooking and then I'm making drinks and then I'm getting the kids together and then you know next year we will have a host like I'm going to hire somebody
Starting point is 00:03:43 to do that but I don't really be like nobody in my house, my house house house in Maryland but I'm going to hire somebody that I know like and they're going to have to sign NDA because I can't do it in my voice I sound like somebody grandfather like it's too much and then my husband drove me through a monsoon this morning to get me up this big
Starting point is 00:03:59 We left Maryland 8 o'clock last night, didn't get in until 3 a.m. So y'all almost ain't even see me. Lord. I'm happy. I'm happy. Well, Brad is here. We would have been here. How was your break?
Starting point is 00:04:12 How was your break? Oh, my God, it was amazing. We did the pre-show carpet for the BET Award to L.A. You look so good. Hopped out, okay? Betty Boop. It was giving very much of Betty Boop in the hand. What was the stylist who styled you?
Starting point is 00:04:24 You look so good. Same person I work with all the time. Jvon James. Shout out to him, though. I feel like people are finally. realizing the power of our duo and then we went to the Essence Festival over the weekend DJ Envy had the car show as there
Starting point is 00:04:35 as there as well too and I had some main stage conversations there but yo doing BT and Essence back to back I'm like man people who'll be on tour y'all got it like we're touring all these different states I was so tired by Sunday morning I'm like I gotta go home please get me home
Starting point is 00:04:51 Oh so you're tired too right now I am you look very alive though Well I think I'm just We don't have a choice Yeah we don't You know what I mean? It's Ladies Day today. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Well, we're going to get the show Craig and we got Mimi up next with Front Page News and then get it off your chest, right? Call up 1-800-585-105-1. Hey, I got the number right. I know, that's right. It's giving, y'all. I can do this all day. All right, call up.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Get it off your chest. It's the Breakfast Club morning. Oh, it's 50 Cent birthday, too. So we're going to start off with some 50. What we got? Yep, the white people's anthem. Let's get it. Let's get it.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Good morning. It's the breakfast. Club, Justillaria, Charlemagne, and Envy is out. We got Lauren LaRosa in. Let's get to some front page news. Real quick in sports NBA, we got Mitchell Robinson signed a three-year
Starting point is 00:05:40 47.4 million dollar contract with the Boston Celtics. Okay, that's what's up. Yeah, and LeBron James is officially leaving the L.A. Lakers, according to his agent, clutch sports, CEO, Rich Paul. And we'll, come on, y'all can't be making
Starting point is 00:05:56 mistakes. I'm reading sports. He's just leaving the Lakers. Honestly, that's all you got to say. That's the thing. Period. That is it. And then FIFA World Cup, Mexico has been killing everybody, but England beat them. Yeah, Mexico was done.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Yeah, I know, I know, but they was killing up until this point, so don't do that. And that's all we need to worry. Oh, Morocco was killing it too. So shout out to all the blacks over there giving it. And what's up, Mimi? What's up, Jeff? How are you doing this morning? Good morning, Mimi.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Good morning. Okay, so we would start this morning in the nation's capital. where a 4th of July March by a white supremacist group is drawing national headlines. Did you guys see this yesterday by chance or over the weekend, should I say? Yeah, it's crazy. I must say. Yeah, let's talk about it. Yeah, so hundreds of masked members of the white nationalist group Patriot Front.
Starting point is 00:06:45 They marched through Washington, D.C. carrying Confederate flags while chanting, reclaim America, and life, liberty and victory. So the march happened as President Trump kicked off America's 250. birthday celebration of praising the nation's founding and highlighting what he calls America's resurgence. Let's listen to a little bit of his speech. For two and a half centuries, our American Republic has stood as the crowning achievement of human history. This country is the home of freedom. This is the land of liberty. And this is a flag that's the banner of the most extraordinary, most exceptional, most incredible nation.
Starting point is 00:07:27 ever to exist on the face of the earth, and we're doing better now than we've ever done before. Okay, well, some people would beg to differ from that last statement. But later, there were severe storms that forced thousands of people attending the Freedom 250 Celebration to take shelter. Now, the irony was not lost on social media on this. So thousands of attendees ended up inside the National Museum of African American History and Culture. you know, that's the museum that the Trump administration has repeatedly criticized over its portrayal of race in American history. They called for some of the artifacts to come down saying it didn't really represent America.
Starting point is 00:08:07 But I don't know. Did you guys see those photos of like hundreds of people who were stuck there? Apparently there was like a lot of stuff. Yeah, bring your ass in here. An ancestor should have been haunting ass, period. Yeah. A lot of people said that. A lot of people said that.
Starting point is 00:08:20 And another image from the day that also went viral, it shows a black woman sitting on a metro train. surrounded by thousands of members of that same white supremacist group, Patriot Front. Now, many on social media are calling it one of the defining images of America today. Yeah, it was taken by a Reuters photographer. So there were no reported arrest. The Secretary of Interior who oversees the National Park Service and many federal public land says that he strongly disagrees with the group's belief. But he added that the First Amendment protects even offensive speech. So basically saying that those white supremacists had a right to be out there.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Say what they want, do what they want. I mean, it's new. Yeah, exactly. And then next story. So if you rely on Planned Parenthood for birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing, or other routine health care, there is good news this morning. So Medicaid coverage has been restored for Planned Parenthood clinics nationwide.
Starting point is 00:09:22 So as of Saturday, Planned Parenthood clinics can once, again, bill the federal government for non-abortion health care services provided to low-income Medicaid patients. Now, that's because the one-year Medicaid funding ban that was included in the GOP's big, beautiful bill that has officially expired. So because of that bill for the last year, if you needed to go for any just health cap smears, anything like that, you could not go and it be billed to the federal government. But now as of Saturday, that ban has been lifted. So if you need to go, you can now go. Planned Parenthood says the funding cut off.
Starting point is 00:10:00 The funding cut off, it led to about 30 clinics closing and reducing access to care for thousands of patients. So some Republicans, though, they are already pushing to bring that ban back. But in the interim, while it's not there, if you need it, you can now go back and it can be billed to Medicaid. So huge win for those who need that coverage and for Planned Parenthood this morning. Yes. No, Mimi, thank you. What's coming up in a 7 o'clock now? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:10:28 So coming up at 7, we have new details after a 4th of July celebration ended in gunfire. What investigators are saying happened this morning there in New York. So we'll talk about that next. Okay. Thank you. And get it off your chest is up next. Call up if you're having problems. If you're not, no, that's just fixing my mess.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Call up if you want to get something off your chest. If you said, if you're happy, whatever you did over the weekend, over the break. How much you missed us? 1-800-5-85-1. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Ray, Ray, Ray. Yo, Charlemagne. Lizzie, what up?
Starting point is 00:11:00 Are we live? This is your time to get it off your chest. I got an indoor pool. I want to hear from you on the breakfast club. We can get on the phone right now. We'll tell you what it is. We live! Good morning.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Who's this? Good morning. This is Tass from Connecticut. How are you doing? Good morning. Texas. We good. How are you?
Starting point is 00:11:17 Good. This is Jess. Yes, this is Jess. No, I sound like Jane. right now, but I'm just tired. No, you don't. It was a long weekend. It was a long weekend.
Starting point is 00:11:28 I'm echoing like crazy. So I wanted to say, Happy Birthday to Charlemagne. And I saw Envy and Lauren doing B to this weekend. And I saw Envy doing Essence with Lauren and y'all did
Starting point is 00:11:47 wonderfully, and it was a good weekend. And I'm glad we could celebrate our black love, not all of the genocide that the whole other country is celebrating. And I love y'all. And I wanted to send you your flowers and just say thank you for all that y'all do for mental health and joy and keeping us, you know, straight and focused with all of the knowledge and information and the clownery and the, you know, shenanigans. So I just wanted to say hello and good morning. And everybody, have a good day. I love you, too.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Appreciate that. Love you back, girl. Hello, who's this? Good morning, Jess. This Shakira Hooker. How are you? Hey, Shakira Hooker. What's up, girl?
Starting point is 00:12:27 How are you doing? I'm doing well. How are you? Good, good, good. Everything, all right? Everything's good. I was just calling to give a shout out to myself and my postal workers who was out seeing that heat waves last week. Delivering y'all mail that child is going to throw away.
Starting point is 00:12:45 You don't know that. You don't know. I know that. I knew that. I've seen it before I even get off the place. they throw it in garbage. Well, the rain's supposed to calm some, cool some things down right. And we need y'all, so keep doing,
Starting point is 00:12:58 hi, Lauren. Hey, good morning. I'm doing good. How are you doing, Ms. Hooker? I'm doing, Ms. Hooker. I know, that's right. All right, cool. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:13:08 That's all I had to get off my chest. Oh, and y'all should post my baby again. Your baby? Remember? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was like the contest. Yes, I do remember that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Okay, cool. So. If y'all go to my Facebook page, Shakira Hooker, y'all can repost the link so people can vote for my baby. Absolutely. When is the voting closed? Well, we're in the third round right now. Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:13:32 It closes on Thursday. Okay. All right, good. Shakira Hooker, y'all, y'all. Y'all go look for on Facebook. Shakira Hooker. All right, babe. Get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Again, you can call up. Tell us about your weekend. Tell us what you like, what you didn't like, what you went through last week. 1-800-585-105-1. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed.
Starting point is 00:13:55 I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk. I hate the way that you dress. Everything with me is best. Call up next. 800-585-105-1. Not just me. I'm with the coach of Philly. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:14:09 Good morning, Jazz, hilarious. How are you? Good morning, girl. I'm okay. Thanks for asking. This is Tammy from Toronto, Canada. Okay. Big Canada in the building.
Starting point is 00:14:17 That's it Good morning Lauren Good morning You caught a pit to start some trouble again today She started some trouble last time I think you was on that call talking about Drake before right Listen I am pleading the fifth I am pleading the fifth
Starting point is 00:14:29 I just Well I'm about to start another problem Too this red card flip Change made by the White House to Pisa Oh with the player that wasn't able to play At first Listen that is so corrupt What happened
Starting point is 00:14:44 So the American player got a red card and got throwing out and therefore wouldn't be able to play the game that's coming up. And Trump made a call to FIFA and they reversed the red card and they're now letting him play. Why wasn't he allowed to play before?
Starting point is 00:14:59 Because he got a red card which means that you're throwing out of the game. Oh, okay. Oh, so he just straight up cheated. Listen, this whole thing is so corrupt. If you watch Netflix, nudge, wink, wink, there is a great documentary about FIFA
Starting point is 00:15:15 and the problems that they've had within FIFA. Hmm. Okay. Which is the exact same thing. It should have never happened. It goes against every rule. Once the card is given, once the player is exited. Yeah, it can't be revoked. It just, that's a rule.
Starting point is 00:15:29 And the fact that the president was leave the call and got it reversed just looks like Team USA and the USA period is just whining and complaining and got what they wanted because there was a whole country. Bullies. Oh, my God. Well, thank you. I just learned something new because I ain't really been paying attention to FIFA since Mexico was out now. I know, right? What a game last night. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Yes, man. Okay, well, thank you, baby, girl. No problem. Have a great day, and happy July 4th. Thanks, baby. Hello, who's this? This is Tiffany. Good morning, Tiffany.
Starting point is 00:16:02 I love you. Oh, my God. Good morning. Good morning. What you calling from? Detroit. Oh, what up, though. That's what's up.
Starting point is 00:16:10 What up, though? Give it off me chest. Oh, my God. This Chris Brown and Usher Town, sir, had everybody so rowdy to the point where one of the people who said that they were VIP ran over my foot now I'm out of work for a home damn did you even get pulled on stage and pumped on a little bit no the lady ain't okay so I worked for the company that does the parking
Starting point is 00:16:33 for the Ford field oh yeah and she wasn't supposed to go that way and she kept saying well I don't see i see i'm here i see a Chris Brown baby everybody with me i peeve for pitts for pitts as long as you pay for them too you ain't no important real good quick. How much was the tickets? How much was those tickets? The VIP? Yeah. They went from anywhere from $600 to $1,200. Oh, okay, okay. And what was the regular ticket? You don't know?
Starting point is 00:16:59 Nah, they were cheap, though. They was like maybe $150, $175. Oh, that's what's up. That's what's up. Okay. Because I saw people complaining about the price. I'm like, no. But from what people are saying, it's not that expensive people that I know that have gone. Damn, okay. My bad. But other than that, did you have fun though? having it getting ran over. I mean, I know that's crazy, but did you have fun up until that part when you lost some toes? Well, yeah, because everybody else were kind of like cool and everything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:28 I got to meet some of his crew, some of ushers crew, my husband. He's going to be my husband for the rest of my life. Period. But, you know, I met some of his crew, some of the dancers that was going, you know, on stage, coming from the back of the bus and everything. Like, it was amazing. being able to be a part of that. I'm just a little upset because as part of the crew,
Starting point is 00:17:49 we got a 30-minute ticket to go see a piece of the concert and I'll skip my whole night in the hospital. You don't went on. Your 30 minutes, so much happy. You met Usher People's. You got Ran over as wild. Now you're out from work. Damn.
Starting point is 00:18:05 I'm sorry about that. Hit up Usher People's and see what they can do. I promise you, I'm trying to. All right, cool. You have a good day, babe. You too, I love you guys Love you back, honey That was get it off your chest

Starting point is 00:18:37 All right Definitely glowing So yeah but I'm going to know who got married So up next The latest with Lauren It's the breakfast club Good morning. Canadian women are looking for more.

Starting point is 00:19:13 Hey, I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby. Okay, if you know me, you know this. I'm always searching for inspiration, for support, and useful tools to help maximize joy. So this podcast lets us uncover all of that together. We're going to have these meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people. Like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges that she never saw coming. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer, and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand postpartner depression.
Starting point is 00:19:50 I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Olympic champ Sean Johnson revealed why she had no choice, but to be a gymnast. There was something about gymnastics that was intoxicating to me. It's given me a belief that we all have one of those treasures inside of us. We just have to find it. Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My husband is currently on a vacation with his mistress and I'm confronting them. Tell me, Sophia, how did she even catch them? One Amazon shopping receipt.
Starting point is 00:20:24 He accidentally sent her a photo of the kid's Christmas gifts with a delivery to another woman at the bottom. He exposed himself? That's a rookie move. Couples, massages, monogrammed bath robes, and lingerie he memowed her for. So she spent four weeks gathering evidence and taped a 10-page letter inside his luggage before he flew out. In his luggage, she came to play.
Starting point is 00:20:46 And the second he landed, he blocked her. So she called the hotel room directly and got the mistress on the phone. Ooh, she got the mistress live on the phone? That is a bold move. Let's see if it pays off. Then it gets worse. He took the mistress on the Bahamas honeymoon trip he had planned with his wife. And then the mistress tagged him on Facebook, outing the fair to her entire family.
Starting point is 00:21:08 That's like a whole public confession. And spoiler, two years later, karma hits him so hard. he's calling his ex-wife in tears saying about the mistress, what a mistake that was. To find out what happened, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, everybody, it's the Jonas Brothers. This week on the podcast, Hey Jonas, we're so excited to be hanging out with Mika Abdallah from the hit show off campus. Congratulations on the massive show and massive success. Got through about episode five. I left the next morning to go meet the guys. Came back. It was like, cool, let's pick up where we left off. And that series had been completely. deleted without me.
Starting point is 00:21:44 Oh, no. That's like the number one rule of watching something. It's literally cheating. It's cheating. That's crazy. We talk about what it's been like watching the show become such a massive hit. What's next for season two? And just how close the off-campus cast really is.
Starting point is 00:21:57 We're genuinely so close. What's the group chat called? If you can say, if it's allowed to be said on the pod. That's a great question. One of them is off-campus Brazil. Okay. Love it. Shout out Brazil.
Starting point is 00:22:09 Shout out Brazil. And then the boys have their own group chat. Called Dean's B. Our conversation with Mika Abdallah is out now. Go check it out. Listen to Hey Jonas in the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Good morning. It's the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Jess Salarias, DJ, Envi, and Charlemagne is out. Lauren is in. Let's get to the latest with Lord. Let's get to the latest with Lord. My bad girl. What? What do you want to know? The latest with Lauren La Rosa. Because you particularly are bringing the energy to mainstream radio, the black radio. That sources trust.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Did you hear that exclusive? Lauren. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everything. She'd be having the latest talking. You ask the question. They need to be answered. On the breakfast club. If little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you.
Starting point is 00:22:54 L.L. Cubey, talk to me. To me. Yes. Shout out to Sherry Shepherd. Saw her over the weekend at Essence Festival. She was hosting on the second night of the concerts. That's my girl. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:05 She did an amazing job. Her and Kenny Burns. But we're going to talk a bit about the love over the weekend. Taylor Swift was married over the. was married over the weekend at Madison Square Garden. See? So it was a suitable venue for everybody. You know what's crazy?
Starting point is 00:23:19 You talk about suitable? Because at first when the rumors were breaking that this was going to happen, we were having a conversation to hear about whether it would make sense or not, because how can it be intimate? Yeah. But the way that all of the reporting was from people that attended and just from different outlets was that they built it into a very intimate experience. So, you know, there was different conversations about the fact that Adam Sandler
Starting point is 00:23:40 officiated the way. Wow. That's what's up. Yeah. That's my guy. Yeah. There were over a thousand friends in attendance, which we knew would be happening because we were talking a lot about that number leading into it. But people were surprised how intimate it was and intimate it was. And they said it like the reception was very whimsical. Wizard of Eyes, Vaz. But I think the biggest thing for me, like I knew, I mean, it's Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey. I knew there were going to be a lot of people. We said a thousand. But there was a lot of people I didn't expect to just be at like Ashanti Nelly. They posted videos even the web. I saw Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens, Nisi Nash and Jessica Betts leaving Vanessa and Natalia Brian as well. Sierra and Russell Wilson posted photos like they're like you know in their outfits in her home I guess before they went to the wedding.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Oh Taylor probably cool with everybody. She thought you know how they be talking about. You know how everybody was talking about Lala Anthony and everybody like she friends with everybody. Taylor probably low-key friends with everybody. It's Taylor Swift. It was cool as hell. So it was either the Taylor Swift wedding that you were at over 4th of July weekend, Essence Festival, or Mike Rubin's party. Now, Essence Festival, me and you were down in New Orleans for Essence Festival.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Shout out to Essence. It was my first time during the festival, like the full weekend of it. Ain't nothing beloved of Essence Festival. Period. Like, I mean, from the generational conversations, I hosted the first day of the stage, the main stage. So there were a ton of different conversations going on. You also at concerts happening as well, too.
Starting point is 00:25:08 But on the stage at Essence Festival, just, I'm not going to be able to get everything in. But you had Dr. Bernice King and Dr. Chabazz, who are the daughters, Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. They spoke about legacy and leadership and resilience. Kiki Palmer hosted a Pilates class. I ran into her and, um,
Starting point is 00:25:24 Envy's car show was on the ground, which was crazy. I bet it was so dope. He had a bodega built out in. A bodega? A bodega built. And you could actually go in and get like quarter waters and different things. I knew that. See, he's Dominican.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Oh my God. Listen, you know Shalua had fun with this. Why would he put it? a bodega. Why would you, what's you even doing bringing a bodega down in New Orleans? I don't know, but the people was loving it. Why would you even do that? When him, everything was like, outside of like
Starting point is 00:25:50 some of the cars, everything was so New York. He was dressed, he looked like a Nick player. He was dressed. Yeah, he's still happy off that. Yeah, and the orange and blue. So shout out to Envy and the team that brought the car show there. You had the whole BeautyCon section and BeautyCon stage, a ton of different entrepreneurs. Candy Burrs
Starting point is 00:26:06 had to set up over there in the BeautyCon stage with candy coated. Cardi B spoke on the beauty con stage but also yeah she performed the first night her Kailani and a lotto perform the first night and i saw some uh you know recaps of her performance that cardi B was doing where she said she wasn't happy let's take a listen i'm a little bit mad about yesterday because i just noticed that yesterday when i was performing i kept screaming that's because i really felt like i couldn't i felt like y'all couldn't hear me like performing in the stadium is definitely different than performing the arena honey but that's going to be my goal
Starting point is 00:26:40 I'm going to make that as a goal. One of my goals is to have a show, a Cardi B show, a real Cardi B show at a stadium. I don't know if I could do it, but I definitely see the difference. Like, God damn, I felt like nobody could hear me. Everything was echoing. But next time I ever performing a stadium, I know the trick.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Let's take a listen to some of her performance, because I didn't feel that way being there in person. Let's take a listen. We have a snippet of the performance we should, no? Where is it? It is listed, and, Give me one second. But yeah, being there in person, though,
Starting point is 00:27:13 I did not feel like that. So it was lit, like it was a whole... So the date before, the whole night. We got it on. Go ahead. You got it. Follow after bottle. Not the bottles in this mall.
Starting point is 00:27:22 For my friend, tears. They're like models in the small. Doing n'hs need the dollars in the small. Yeah. Yeah. Yellow. She definitely was Meek Milling. All over.
Starting point is 00:27:35 You know what's crazy, though. In the actual, like, arena, it just felt like her. energy was up because everybody was so excited. Even the sign language interpreters from Essence Festival, they went viral. Girl, I knew what he was. No, you don't understand. I mean, like, they were signing down to, like, the sounds that you were saying.
Starting point is 00:27:52 From this song to me, dreams and nightmares, like, they literally went viral because they understood the assignment for real, for real. So it just felt like the energy was up. I know that that people was home like, oh my God. Girl, straight giving. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Yeah, but a lot of people pointed out that in that,
Starting point is 00:28:10 particular part of the performance she had replaced because normally she would have said loto there she replaced it with barty but oh okay yeah you know you know people gonna grab the face so was it any because you was actually down there was any like swarming's or anything about them afterwards like hosting having a conversation all love at essence missal i promise you like all love that we that wasn't even that's no i mean like of them like having a conversation because remember the last thing i know was the apology the second apology that carty came out not not that i know of but i'm be honest with you like i doubt if either one of those ladies even had the time if they did i was i'm It's beyond me.
Starting point is 00:28:41 I don't know that information. But yeah, but there was so much happening. You had, you know, Cardi at Beauty Con stage and she's performing. I saw a lot out on Bourbon Street also performing there as well, too. Like, it was so much happening. And I think when you're there, it doesn't, like, I really understood when Charlotte may be yelling about what's happening in real time versus on Twitter in different places. Because being there in person, that was the furthest thing for my mind of that.
Starting point is 00:29:04 The second night you had baby phase, you had Miss Patty LaBelle on stage. like Leon Thomas hit the stage. Oh my God. They did a whole tribute to Alia, the closing night. Normani, Ryan Destiny, Maya. Oh, I love me from Ryan Destiny. That's the last thing for my mind.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Because it was just, I don't know, it just was like such a feel good weekend. And Essence Festival is that. So shout out to the Essence Festival team for having us there, me, NV, and I have a lot of live conversations that I'll be posting to the latest with Lauren and Rosa, the podcast
Starting point is 00:29:35 from the Essence Festival. If you guys did not get a chance to make it out, I'll be taking you right on this. I did see Tiana. Let me tell you something about Tiana Taylor. I want to take a second to say this. So Tiana Taylor's team, you know how she was the cultural curator for the festival weekend, right?
Starting point is 00:29:49 When I say they were actually there working on foot. You saw all of her team in the auntie's jumpsuits all weekend, really, really working. I mean, sound, production, just doing the things. And she took a second to actually have a live conversation with her best friend Coco, who also works on the auntie's production company with her. Just about like chasing your dreams and figuring it out. your own way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:11 And that conversation, I actually stopped and watched that conversation live. Yeah. Because, like, again, you just, you saw all of what she was talking about. Like, I mean,
Starting point is 00:30:21 the festival was packed full of people. There was so many people. But I was actually told that this year, there was a lot more people there this year than there was last year, which is crazy because it was so much noise around us since last year. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:30:32 we had a good time. And shout out to Tiana Taylor and her team. They did an amazing job. We're pulling that off. A lot of people to curate and they got it done. So, okay, well, that's what's up. Are we doing it? You don't do this after, though, right here.
Starting point is 00:30:43 No, talk talk later. I was trying to make sure you know I'm the end of the day. No, talk later. They wasn't at essence. Oh, all right. All right. So that was the latest with Lauren. So over the weekend, I was talking about my third annual 4th of July cookout that me and my husband threw at our house, right?
Starting point is 00:30:57 And I was talking to y'all about saying that nobody talks about the labor of love, you know, because I love when people have fun and they feel the love at my events because I put so much into it. I love people to walk away from my events like, oh, the experience was great. But two things, people come and enjoy themselves. They love the festivities. And then we as host, we're stuck cleaning up the next day, everything. And when people got kids that they can't control.
Starting point is 00:31:22 And then I got to beat some of my kids. So after Front Page News coming up, we're going to take some calls because I need to give somebody a donkey. Okay. And it's going to be a few of my family members and a couple of my friends. Okay. Don't bring your kids if you can't control it. I'm almost drown somebody kid. on purpose
Starting point is 00:31:38 so coming up next Front page news y'all and after that Donkey. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning, it's the Breakfast Club. It's your girl Jess Salary and N.V.R. out. Lauren LaR. is in. Let's get to some front page news. In sports real quick, Mitchell Robinson signed a three-year
Starting point is 00:31:56 47.4 million dollar contract with the Boston Celtics and LeBron James is officially leaving the Lakers according to his agent. He's supposed to be doing a documentary two of this last season. be like a deal that he worked out or something like that. So people think it's the last one. Yeah. I mean, because like where is he going to go? Well, no.
Starting point is 00:32:12 He's like retired, right? No, he's going to go to a team. But that next season he plays, they're supposed to be a documentary deal around it. So people think that this may be the season that he'll play last and then he'll announce retire. They always think that though. Okay, cool. And then Morocco was killing Canada, period.
Starting point is 00:32:28 And Mexico lost, but we was up at first. So shout out to England a little bit. Hey, what's up, me, man. Good morning, Jeff. Lauren how y'all doing this morning? Doing good. How you doing? Oh, and I'm at FIFA World Cup, y'all. I'm sorry because they're going to be like the country's fighting. So, my bad, I didn't mean to say that.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Yeah, I was talking about FIFA World Cup, y'all. I didn't. I think Mimi was going to clear it up. Oh, my bad. Go ahead, me, me, because girl, they're going to get into it. We're going to get into it. We have a FIFA story ourselves. But before we get there, we're going to start this hour with some heartbreaking news this hour. So please say a 4th of July family barbecue in Brooklyn turned into a mass shooting after a mass gunman. Open fire in a crowd in Coney Island. So investigators say the suspect walked up to a courtyard, yeah, fired multiple rounds through a fence and then ran away.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Eight people were shot, including four children between the ages of six and 14. A 21-year-old woman remains in critical condition while the other victims are expected to survive. Now, police have not made any arrest, any arrest and are investigating whether the shooting may be connected to a deadly shooting on the same block, just days earlier. Let's listen to a resident who lived nearby. It was crazy. And also with the July 4 traffic, the police couldn't get out.
Starting point is 00:33:45 It was just, it was unbelievable. And now it's quiet like nothing ever happened. If you go by there, see, you see bikes, you see children's toys, it's horrible to walk by there. This can't happen again. Coney Island has to step up. We're one of the best places here in New York.
Starting point is 00:34:02 It was never like this. I grew up in Coney Island. We knew everybody. We knew everyone. We have to take charge. I definitely understand. I understand that. That sounds like an angry person who, like she said, when she grew up like that, like,
Starting point is 00:34:18 I'm sure everybody in Baltimore, we had our six flags, even though they just closed it in Maryland. But that's what we grew up on. People grew up on Bush Gardens, King's Dominion. Of course, for New York, it's Coney Island. And that's sad that that had to happen. But you said the kids didn't die, right, the four and a six-year-old? Yeah, they said that everybody is. in critical condition.
Starting point is 00:34:38 Critical condition, yeah, and they are, you know, just kind of watching and waiting to see what happens. Let's keep them in our prayers. Jesus. Yeah. You know, police say they did recover a handgun with an extended magazine and at least 10 shell casings at the scene. But again, no arrests and investigators are now looking into whether the shooting is connected to a gang-related homicide on that same block. And Mayor is Ron Mondami. Yeah, he's weighing in and he called the attack unacceptable.
Starting point is 00:35:06 and he's vowing to use every available resource to find those who are responsible. So we will continue to watch that. And now to a family in Delaware, this family is demanding answers after a 19-year-old was shot and killed by a Wilmington police officer. So the family, they've now watched the body cam video. Their attorneys, Harry Daniels and nationally known civil rights attorney Ben Crump, they say it shows Kadir Skinner running away. from being chased by a dog.
Starting point is 00:35:38 They say Skinner never turned around and officers threatened him. He never turned around or threatened the officers before he was shot. Let's listen to attorneys. At no time that could dare make any threatening moves, position that what we saw in the video that suggests anything warranted
Starting point is 00:35:56 to be shot. We heard him say, I can't breathe 20 times after he was shot and it was just hard to watch. Yeah. This is in Delaware. Lauren, do you know anything about this case? Anything extra? Well, this happened literally a few blocks from like where I grew up.
Starting point is 00:36:16 This is my grandmother's neighborhood. And before Ben Crump came and like just listening to the family speaking, I was, I've been sending it to you probably for like, what, like about like three to like all weekend. Because I was like even if this doesn't make national news, I'd heard that. And you can let me know from what they saw on the body cam and me. I didn't read the reports after that. I had heard that at one point he was handcuffed while he was shot, correct? Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Yeah. And when I heard that piece of it, I was like, something is just not right. We need to like be talking about this. Like, that's insane. You're shot. Why are you handcuffed? Like, I don't know. That was.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Yeah, there's a lot. There's a lot happening. And I think that they're investigated are trying to get to the bottom of this. And I do think with Ben Crump coming in, a lot of things are coming to the like. So they initially were not able to see that. police cam video. They've now seen that police cam video. But police, they are telling a different story. They say Skinner have pointed a gun toward a group of people before officers chased him. They say they recovered that handgun after the shooting, but have not said whether he was holding
Starting point is 00:37:21 it when he was shot. Now, the officer who did the shooting, he is on administrative leave, while the Delaware Department of Justice, they investigate. And that agency says it plans to release the body cam footage publicly after blurring the faces of body. bystanders. So we should be getting that hopefully sometime this week. And so everyone will be able to see that. And like you said, Lauren, just kind of see what really happened. There's a lot of questions. A lot of questions. His family is like so all of the interviews I've watched with his family, they're like, we just want to, we just want transparency because there's so many unanswered questions that they had. They saw the body cam video, but they still have so many questions. Right. I can't even imagine. Real sad.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Absolutely. Well, thank you, Mimi. Of course, more questions and answers. And really quickly, before we run out of here, someone called in earlier about that FIFA reversing the suspension of the team USA's leading score. Filarin, the logon, I think is his name. I just wanted to say that Belgium is now,
Starting point is 00:38:21 they are now asking for that suspension to be overturned. So we shall see if he is on the field tonight. Just we basically cheated. That's what we did. Well, they're saying that the president, he kind of, like you said, he made a phone call, yo, put him back in the game right now. And yeah, put them in the game, those. And they said, okay.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Yeah, exactly. And so Belgium is saying that FIFA broke his own rules by overturning that automatic suspension, and they are now appealing that decision. And then the damn president tweeted and said, thank you. Thank you, FIFA. I know FIFA was probably like, yo, why would you put us on blast like that, stupidie? Anyway. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Yeah. So we shall see. We'll see what happens. that game is tonight in Seattle. So we'll see how that goes if President Trump's call keeps the leading score for the U.S. in the game. Well, thank you, Mimi. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:39:15 That is your front page news. For more stories, follow me at Mimi Brown TV. All right, and coming up next, we're going to open up the phone lines because you were talking about essence and all the love and everything over there. But that's big girl trip vibes. I met so many groups of girlfriends.
Starting point is 00:39:33 You did? What? You see the body fighting? No. There's one thing about it. You can't go on the trip with girls and be on there for too long. It get too long?
Starting point is 00:39:41 Yeah, because there's too many personalities. Too many different personalities. One people, just, you got the whole friend, you got the friend that like the smoke. You got the friend who ain't even, she don't even like the girls, but they pay for it to come, you know, because she fell up on all the time.
Starting point is 00:39:51 It's all types of personality. Well, we want to know about the girls' trips, right? Yeah, we do. And how long is too long to be on a girl trip? And if you've got any crazy stories, you need to tell us about them because I got a few of my own. If you was at Essence with your home girls and you got some stories, call up.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Call up. Oh, 1-800-585-105-1. Y'all call up right now with the Breakfast Club. Good morning. It's topic time. Call 800-585-105-1 to join into the discussion with the Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody. It's the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:40:27 Jess Salarious. Shalaman and NV.R. out. Lauren LaRourouza is here. And we were talking about the Essence Fest and, you know, girls' trips and how long is too long to be on a girl's trip with all them different personalities. I want to hear some stories because you ever been on a girl's trip and you didn't get along with... Oh no, not get along.
Starting point is 00:40:43 We'd be getting along. We'd be fine. But you do get to a certain point though where you're like... With your social battery run out and it's like, all right, I'm going to go on. And you know, my battery is like a dual charge. Yeah, but I'd be ready. But even me, I'd be like, all right, after about five days and the five days, if it's like a longer
Starting point is 00:40:59 trip, we got to be like going to different places. Like, we need a real it. Tender rare. We got to be busy because if we just all together, I'm like, okay. Yeah. It's time to go home and sit in some silence. It's a lot, yeah,
Starting point is 00:41:09 because everybody, everybody not like you and then you see the real colors of everybody when, like the third day. You know what I mean? Like, it's different personalities, y'all.
Starting point is 00:41:18 Like I said, you've got like different girls. So you've got like, the one who thinks she in charge of everybody, the one who, the one who, the it's what we're going to do. You need her, though,
Starting point is 00:41:26 because she wake up early and make your breakfast is cool. I know, but then she thinks she's somebody mother. She gets that, you know, if we're not on time, then she start fussing too much. Just like, don't play with me like that, because don't do that.
Starting point is 00:41:35 And then you got the weed smoker. That's me, yo. And then, you know, we can't do nothing until we smoke, you know? And then you got the one who. He's excited. Yeah, but then you got the whole friend. The one who didn't even plan to be with yours? She just very go catch a Nick.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Like, you know what I'm saying? She's looking for somebody to go home with looking for a little friend. You ain't ever fought in love on a trip? Listen, I did. I did. I did. I did before. Girl, you were a crying and smile down. It's back in the day. I had a very eventful life, so we opening up the phone lines right now.
Starting point is 00:42:06 Call up. How long is too long to be on a girl's trip? And let us know your stories, y'all. Good morning. Who is? Karima. Karima. Hey, Karima.
Starting point is 00:42:15 What you calling from? I'm calling from Philly. Oh, what's up? Philly. Shout out to Philly. All right. How long is too long to be on a girl's trip, girl? I'm going to get a girl's grace, and I'm going to say four days.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Four? Okay. I like that. I say three. Before is cool. Four, because the second day, girls already be missing their men. And by the third day, to every day, discursions or whatever they've done
Starting point is 00:42:35 it's time to go when they're working. Yeah. I like that. Okay. See, that's like my friend group. We don't have like the issues amongst each other. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:44 But we do get to a point where we'd be out for a night. I remember we went to poor minds and me and all my home girls. And the whole night we was like, we love each other to death, but we got men. My men and my men.
Starting point is 00:42:55 But if you all were single, it would be different. It would be. That was a different era. You just be there for all the ones. Absolutely. Come on. Who's this?
Starting point is 00:43:03 What's up, Keisha? I'm chilling with him. Not much. What you're calling from? You call it from Atlanta. No, it sounds like New Orleans. No. Last year at Louisiana.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Oh, look, and she just, and Lauren, Lauren was close enough. She said that. Okay, what's up? How long is too long to be on a girl's trip? No more than three days. When bitches get horny and then they start a trip. Ah! You gay?
Starting point is 00:43:24 Let me ask you that real quick. I'm trying sex. I'll try anything once. I know that's right. I know that's right. That was me back in the day. All right. Well, good.
Starting point is 00:43:32 Thank you, Kasha. It's all good, bitch. She's saying like she's still trying. Good morning. Who's this? Good morning. This is Aisha calling from Brooklyn. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:43:43 Aisha calling from Brooklyn. How long is too long for the girls' trip? Let me tell you something. I've been on several girls' trips. And I always have my own room. So I be with them, but not with them. Period. And they know Aisha going to disappear after some time.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Because I can't deal with it. Majority is girls' trips. It's a whole bunch of girls' girls. going together that don't even really like each other. Period. It is always that. And then you know what another thing be, yo, another thing. I appreciate that. But another thing be when you're trying to match different friend groups.
Starting point is 00:44:15 You have groups of friends. See, I have done that and I didn't go as well. Exactly, because I've done that. That's why we ended up fighting. We all love each other. I won't be beefing on a trip. But I have had to learn to not match friend groups, to not mesh certain groups.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Because even though it's all love, it's just certain people just don't. They don't get on. They don't match. And then now you in the middle. Looking crazy. Because you're friends with everybody. Yes.
Starting point is 00:44:36 Oh, my God, yes. Yeah, that's like oil and water. Call us up at 1-800-5-1501. Me and Lauren talking about how long is too long to be on a girl's trip. Well, you've got different friend groups that you're trying to mash or you, you know what I'm saying? After, like, that third day, you miss your man or whatever. Like, how long is too long? Call us up as the breakfast club right now.
Starting point is 00:44:55 I know what I'm going to. They can't own. Breakfast Club top. Come on. 800, 585.105.10.1. Good morning, everybody. It's the Breakfast Club. Jess O'Larry is here.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Shalermaine and NV.R. Out. Lauren LaR. is here with me. And we're talking about how long is too long to be on a girl's trip. After, like, the third day, I think I'm going to be ready to go home, especially because I got a man now. Now, when I was single, it was different. I'd be on there six and a day.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Yeah. And I think that the beauty about essence was, I was just mentioning this to you, they had stuff for the guys and the girls. So I saw a lot of groups that I was meeting where, like, hubby and his friends might be there as well, but you get to go have your time with your girls.
Starting point is 00:45:42 They go over the envy car show and then y'all link back up. So it makes the three days that I feel as long. But, yeah. That's what's up. That's what's up. Well, how are we going to the phone calls? I'm going to the phone lines.
Starting point is 00:45:53 Good morning. Who this? Hey, Jess. How you doing, girls? Hey, grub. Who's this? What's your name? My name is Shikala.
Starting point is 00:45:59 I'm calling for South Carolina. Hey, South Carolina. What's up? Shikaela? Go, let us know. How long is too long? Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:07 Too long is five days, especially when you go with people who you didn't even plan a trip with. So basically I had won a trip like a few years ago with my home girl, home girl, mama family, and we always, she was supposed to plan a trip. We sent our money and everything. We're supposed to stay on Burma Street. We get their hotel overbooked. We had to end up staying like 45 minutes away at the Red Roof Inn,
Starting point is 00:46:29 and they had roaches that way. It was hot. Oh, my God. You said they had roaches and was hot? It was road to, it was roaches in the hotel. And y'all left y'all stop in there. Literally, I slaved your car and eat. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:46:41 One night, I just couldn't take it. Then we got real drunk on Burma Street. We was driving back one night. Mind you, like I said, it's a 45-minute drive. My home grandma drove us off a bridge. I woke up. The Lord woke me up. He said, Kayla, wake up before we drove off the side of the bridge.
Starting point is 00:46:54 And so this was day five, this was day five or day four? This is like day two. Oh, yeah, no, yeah. You never went back on the ship with them again, right? Absolutely not. I said, you know what? cool move we missed out in the last few days I was over
Starting point is 00:47:07 I want y'all to Uber next time yes I was like what it did not the red roof oh my god girl to Uber to the it was like an over $100 it's like five of y'all y'all y'all y'all gonna split that yeah
Starting point is 00:47:19 she said everybody was brute and they're gonna say it all alone they was brute that was that look see that's the thing too you gotta know who you tripping that's what I'm saying and even you got to
Starting point is 00:47:31 and if you don't know them like you just get put in a group group chat for a trip like yo we all go into essence this my home girl from work you my home girl from college you got to trust the main curator of it like that they got good trip friends like you got to know all that because we should be able to split the uber yep and i only got a few of them i only got a few girlfriends that you can take on a trip everybody can't come i see y'all in church i got my friends for church i got friends for group trips and all of that friends for double dates and all that everybody can't do the same thing good morning who is hi hi this hey
Starting point is 00:48:03 Hey girl, okay, shout out the OKC. What's your thoughts on the topic? Three days is definitely enough because, yes, I'm trying to get back to my man. I'm tired of sleeping in this bed. That's not mine. You girls got out of twos by now. Right. Oh, you're missing your own here.
Starting point is 00:48:21 Okay, cool. Anything I've happened on a girl's trip. What's you and your friends? Nothing too bad like the Miami trip, but I have been on trips. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer, and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand. understand postpartner depression. I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Olympic champ Sean Johnson revealed why she had no choice but to be a gymnast. There was something about gymnastics that was intoxicating to me. It's given me a belief that we all have one of those treasures inside of us.
Starting point is 00:49:52 We just have to find it. He accidentally sent her a photo of the kids' Christmas gifts with a delivery to another woman at the bottom. He exposed himself? That's a rookie move. Couples massages, monogrammed bath robes, and lingerie he then-mowed her for. So she spent four weeks gathering evidence and taped a 10-page letter inside his luggage before he flew out. In his luggage, she came to play. And the second he landed, he blocked her. So she called the hotel room directly and got the mistress on the phone.
Starting point is 00:50:38 Ooh, she got the mistress live on the phone? That is a bold move. Let's see if it pays off. Then it gets worse. He took the mistress on the Bahamas honeymoon trip he had planned with his wife. And then the mistress tagged him on Facebook, outing the fair to her entire family. That's like a whole public confession. And spoiler, two years later, karma hits him so hard he's calling his ex-wife in tears saying about the mistress. What a mistake that was. To find out what happened, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, Jonas Brothers.
Starting point is 00:51:12 If you haven't heard, our new podcast is called Hey Jonas. And this week, we're hanging out with someone we're really big fans of. Millie Bobby Brown. That's right. Eleven herself. We talk about her new movie, Anola Holmes 3, family life, and all the amazing things she has going on right now. This blew my mind when I saw this, Millie Bobby Brown. You have over 60 animals.
Starting point is 00:51:31 First of all, how do you even keep track of everybody? And second, do you have favorites? Who are they and why? Yeah, I need to know about this. Okay. I don't know where the number's 60, and I really got to figure that out, and I could actually have over 60.
Starting point is 00:51:44 I just need to really know that number. There have been plenty of sheep in my bed, and yeah, I'm in the bed, literally sleeping in the bed, yeah. Plus, we find out what she really feels about Stranger Things ending. Five seasons, almost 10 years of your life. I could have never have gotten.
Starting point is 00:52:01 I started it. I starship when I was 10 years old. Our conversation with Millie Bobby Brown is out now. Go check it out. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Like, okay, I'm going to talk to you in about a month because I'm good, are you? Yeah. You got to take some friends in doses. You can't have too many, too much. Can't have too much time with them.
Starting point is 00:52:21 Yeah, they wear the welcome out. Okay, cool. Thank you, girl. Good morning. Who is? This is Lance and Columbus. Good morning. What's up? Listen, I was watching on that because I'm like, while I'm at work, while I'm at work while you're talking about the girls' trip, type of it.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Uh-huh. For real, you just need a three-day minimum, not minimal, maximum, because the beginning, the first day, that's when everybody getting in an hotel. Yay, dinner, okay, bye. Second day, we get together, we do a couple activities, and then the third day, you go back home. Because I love my girlfriends. I love them all.
Starting point is 00:52:56 I'm the only going to go to husband. And so, you already got that one friend. who's steady complaining about everything. Oh, girl, I just wish I had a man. We're going to go get you one. Yeah, stop sitting around wishing. The hell? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:10 Just doing too much. And I just be like, I love you. You gotta relax. And so, like, we've been, for instance, college over 15 years now. You know what I mean? So I was like, it's always the key when we get together. But at a certain point, like, we're living separate lives. Just a lot.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Yeah, yeah. It's just best to go living that boundaries. me be cool for a couple days, and then I'll talk to y'all next year. See, because that ain't nothing that we got in common, so you still expect me to be the same as I was before I got married. I have a question then. Yeah, what? Why are not?
Starting point is 00:53:41 So why don't y'all curate the time that you spend with people? How much time you spend with certain people knowing that, though? Like, going into it. Like, it's certain things and certain people that I'm just not putting myself in that position. I'm spending money to be somewhere. But that was her friend since college, so she probably wanted to feel some type of way. Now she's probably worse because her friend is married. You know what?
Starting point is 00:53:58 I learned from. girls trips trying to mesh friends trying to force situations just be sometimes you outgrow certain things and it's okay like I might got a that certain friend I might got to be like now we happy our friends we don't need to go nowhere for five days if the conversation ain't conversation in no more I agree I agree with that so what's the moral of the story I actually like what she just said we both were saying that you can't mesh friends you just got to understand the girl's trip is not just about like where you're going and what you're doing it's about what energy you're bringing into like sitting in this chair,
Starting point is 00:54:30 what energy you're bringing into your life, that understanding, what you're about to put yourself into because that's a lot of time with people that you might not have nothing to talk about with. Right. At six days, what's the longest trip you've been on? I think the longest trip I did.
Starting point is 00:54:44 We went to Paris for a friend's birthday. I think that was about like a week. But again, I knew who I was going to trip with. We all enjoy each other and love each other. And even when we get on each other, nerves, you get home, you take that 24 hours and you're cool. But I had to learn the hard way through not even trips, just experiences
Starting point is 00:55:01 where people understand who you go places with, especially out the country. Out of the country is a whole different type of situation. Yeah, because if we're getting into it. Now, I remember I got into it out Belize with one of my old friends. The shame my friend tomorrow. I did not want to go to jail in Belize. I was like, oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:55:14 Which are you? What you made, what we did? What did you about to go to jail for? Oh, no, because I was going to fight her. Oh. And I didn't want to go to jail in Belize. Yeah. Yeah, because they would have dragged us up out of there.
Starting point is 00:55:24 They already was eyeing this because they saw this argument. It was like a root-top club. and I did not want to go to jail but she kept trying me and it was it was a lot I tripped her she fell she got her like she went to fight it was a lot I tripped on purpose girl well yeah okay you gotta know
Starting point is 00:55:40 what you're inviting in you tripped or not you got to period yeah what we're talking about the latest Lauren we're gonna talk about speaking of the girls and the trips and the girls night spin that Young Miami song has become like the narration of all those things
Starting point is 00:55:54 and there's an argument right now on whether or not we should be accepting that song in the culture That's crazy. I don't know why we shouldn't. I mean, we don't talk about it. It's an anthem for a market out there, for an audience, for an audience out there. It's a whole market. That's my old tribe. All right, Charles. Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning. It's the breakfast club. Your girl, Jesselari is saying Charlemagne and NVR out, but Lauren LaRosa is in and let's get to the latest with Lauren.
Starting point is 00:56:21 The latest with Lauren LaRosa. Because you particularly are bringing the energy to mainstream radio, the black radio. That sources trust. Did you hear that exclusive? Lauren. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everything. She'd be having the latest talking. You ask the question.
Starting point is 00:56:35 They need to be answered. On the breakfast club. If little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. L.L. Cubey. Talk to me. All right, y'all. So there is a conversation that is happening around Young Miami's Spinnet song, which has been climbing the Billboard charts,
Starting point is 00:56:51 which she's been excited about. And the conversation is about a boycott and whether this is degrading to our culture. Boycotting. Yeah, so there was a person that posted on a thread talking about that there should be a boycott of the song because there's power in music and perception and the values that it reinforces and that this is the song, spin that is degrading to our culture. Now, India, I re got into the conversation. She says, I spent my entire adult life caring way too much because I finally learned that not everybody cares of the capital C. And explaining it to them is not going to make them care.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Everything you listen to see or eat is going to influence you. so make wise choices y'all. And then she commented and she talks about how the mass acceptance of the song itself is a crystal clear sign of the bigger problem.
Starting point is 00:57:36 She says, India, I said, I finally realized that not everybody wants to get free. It was a very rude awakening, right? So that sparked a conversation online. Indiairee, you know,
Starting point is 00:57:50 has doubled, not double down, but she's come back and made more statements talking about, you know, she did not say that anybody need to boycott the song. Let's take a listen
Starting point is 00:57:57 to, It is being wrongly reported that I think we should boycott this song of the summer. I'm not going to tell you what it is because I refuse to sing that song. Either you know what it is or you don't. If you don't, you can go find it. It's very easy. But I don't think we should boycott. What I want is to see people understand the power of words and music and to make choices that
Starting point is 00:58:14 are healthy for them. That's what I want. Do I think it matters what I want for people? No. All I can do is emanate what I emanate, stand for what I stand for and hope that it reaches who is meant to reach. And there are a lot of people who are saying, it's just a song. Well, if that's what you think?
Starting point is 00:58:27 But what I know is that music has power. I have used that power to help some people. And I have traveled around this world twice. And I see the impact of what we export out of the black American experience to the rest of the world. So I know. And I'm telling you what it is. But you enjoy if that's what you want to do. And I will enjoy doing what I want to do.
Starting point is 00:58:47 I actually don't think anything is wrong with what she said. And I do also like her taking a stand. Like, no, I ain't say boycott it. You know what I'm saying? Because sometimes people go too far. Now, it's because of where. her comment originated from that was the conversation there right
Starting point is 00:59:01 yeah and then when you put a song out there like that you know um you have to be able to prepare yourself to hear different feedback you know what I'm gonna say you put out WAP that caused a big conversation about what we should or should not be listening to that was only the people who had
Starting point is 00:59:17 the dot the dry hat well there's a bunch of people who hopped in this conversation talking about different things uh Trick Daddy was one of the people who happened in defense of young miami let's take a listen to the trick daddy shout out to my little home girl young miami got the hottest record the finest little shi in the game right now and everybody jamming this record except a few old centricle's
Starting point is 00:59:42 that's what i don't f*** you old old is too modern outdated the game the past you by you take our time to go on social media the down talk a girl we've been talking negativity in every music before i even started doing music. I'm about you, bitty-age. Leave that little young lady alone. If you see how pretty she is, you don't look like her, so they're giving me hate a little bit. You ain't shaped like her. You're shaped like me. Music ain't for everybody. These young bids are they do not want to be old and miserable like you for the rest of their life. They want to smoke, a hookah, take them a shot of Don, Julio, a patrol. They want to get flued out and get real good. You don't get ignorant, bitch. On behalf of a young
Starting point is 01:00:25 Miami kiss every bitch ass in Miami. If you think we can't go fuck about how you feel, then go spin that shit. Again, the mayor has spoken. You know what I mean? And that's his feedback as well. And you know what? I saw a comment that India Ari posted on Funkin'Neva
Starting point is 01:00:41 who does commentary on YouTube had talked about this topic as well. And India Ari said in the comments over, you know, as they were talking about on social, she said that she's actually appreciating certain takes. I don't think she probably appreciated your dad. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 01:00:55 But certain takes, including the one that Funkiniiva did, because the conversation that a lot of people are having now is about the fact that spin that does represent a group of people from certain places coming up out of certain things, and it's almost like an anthem for them to figure it out and get good how they need to get good. And she says, you know, she clarified again in the RR. She was not asking for the song to be boycott it,
Starting point is 01:01:18 but she is learning that there's a certain group of people for everything, but it is her right. She says she has a right to feel how she feels. And, you know, everybody's going to feel differently about it. Now, Uncle Luke jumped in the conversation as well, too. You know, Uncle Luke, he went through issues about his music coming out of, you know, Miami and it being vulgar. Let's take a listen, Uncle Luke. If everybody lived in the world of Jill Scott and all music was Jew Scott and Indyrie and Afrocentric,
Starting point is 01:01:43 we would be bored as fuck. It's just lyrics. So when this girl, India, Irie, or whoever the hell it is, listen, I have no problem with these Afrocentric type people, but they're always jumping into the conversation of wanting art to be created like their art. Why are you having a conversation about something that's considered as art? Does anybody get all upset when the man is standing up there and people are looking at the sculpture, the art sculpture, or this man would just jump the tools out? Nobody is.
Starting point is 01:02:14 That's what I say about that. But then there's always us. It's always black on black crime. You never hear them talk about each other. You don't hear the white artists talk about another white artist. Where is it? Now, here's it that. I love me some Jill Scott, some Indy, I read.
Starting point is 01:02:30 Like, I listen to the music. And the board, that was a bit crazy for me. But I think, because even Indy Ari has said in some of the comments that I've seen her leave, she's trying to come from a place of love. She just has a difference of opinion. Exactly. And it's okay. Like, everybody ain't got to jump on our head.
Starting point is 01:02:45 You know what I mean? Oh, no. That's what I said. Some people just go too far with things. Like, why can't things be true at the same time? All right, yeah. Like, yo, the message could have been delivered in love a different way. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:58 And also, you don't want to send a wrong message to these young people. Like, stealing is not cool. It's illegal. Scaming is not cool. It's illegal. But it's a very real thing. Some people do it to survive. Some people do it because they can.
Starting point is 01:03:10 You know what I mean? But it's just a difference of opinion everywhere. Everybody has got to go too far. And you know what, too. So at Essence Festival, was it the first night? It was either first or second night, y'all. The drinks was drinking. They dropped spin that in their arena.
Starting point is 01:03:23 and no. It went crazy. Everybody. I tried to pull out my phone to record it, but I missed it. But Young Miami caught it. I saw she posted, and also Monica had the song and her set and danced to it as well, too. And I know during all this discourse, Young Miami posted that she appreciated the love from Monica. Even if you've
Starting point is 01:03:39 never been a booster, a scammer, or none of that. Even if you ain't no go, y'all, you still, it's still in your mind. It's like ringing your mind. It's so catchy. It's hard not to sing along. Some of the music we listen to, we just enjoy it and we move on. Like, I posted it on X and people was mad that I said it. I'm like, why can't we just enjoy the song and move on?
Starting point is 01:03:57 Right, and why doesn't have to be... And if it's not for you, don't listen to it. Yeah, that's how I feel as well. I mean, shout out to Young Miami. The last that I saw reported, that song that moved up to number 25 on the Billboard High 100 chart, which is a big deal for her.
Starting point is 01:04:11 Number 10 on a rhythmic airplay and number six on the hot R&B and hip-hop songs Billboard. And, you know, she's a soloist now. So that's a big deal for her. Congratulations. Yeah. Young Miami. Yep, and the discourse is there.
Starting point is 01:04:23 It's needed. Art does that. So, you know, to eat your own. Period. That's all you got for me, Lauren? Yep, right now until we come back to the next latest. All right, that's what's up. All right. Well, up next is donkey of the day. We're going to do the people's donkey today. So call up now at 1,800-585-105-1.
Starting point is 01:04:39 It's the breakfast club. It's time for donkey of the day. There's a bunch of donkeys out here in this street. I'll have made a donkey today. Called donkey of the day, it really caught me off guard. We live a life where we bite our tongue based off who we may offend. he never would say anything. Charlemagne, give it to him.
Starting point is 01:04:55 Give it to him. You are a donkey. That is why Charlemagne is here. Some donkey today's just saw themselves. On the Breakfast Club. Okay, Charlemagne, who you're giving donkey of the day to today? Just give it to them. So, donkey of the day for Monday, July 6th.
Starting point is 01:05:13 I don't know if I should be giving donkey of the day, but over the weekend I had a huge fourth of July party. And I invited family, friends, me and my husband, we had a ball. We watched our kids. to play everything. It was a nice setup from beginning to end after the party was over.
Starting point is 01:05:26 A lot of people left and didn't help clean up. Some did stay behind, but most of them left didn't help clean up. And they weren't in control of their kids. I don't like inviting nobody over who can't control their kids. Why should I be spanking your kids? Why should I be pinching your kid?
Starting point is 01:05:41 Like, there's no way I should. I mean, I wanted to, but if you had control under your, you know, over your kid, then I didn't, I shouldn't, I wouldn't have to do that. You know what I mean? And I'm so tired because we cleaned up 4th of July night all the way into last night And as tired as I am
Starting point is 01:05:56 I still showed up here today Because that's what you got to do You got to work, right? And so I felt like I should give donkey a day To all of those people who just left Now I know I'm the host And that's the job and responsibility
Starting point is 01:06:08 Of hosting an event like that Especially when it's at your house But God damn I could have had a lot more help My ankle hurt I felt like I sound like James this morning I don't sound like Jess I'm horse as hell
Starting point is 01:06:20 I had no time to put on no lashes, no makeup, no nothing. This half wig is pulling my brains out. Like, it's a whole lot going on. Thanks to my family over the weekend. So I want to give the he-ha to a few family and friends. I'm not going to say their names. I'm not. I don't know, but it's going to be a lot of people.
Starting point is 01:06:39 Yeah, it's going to be a lot of people to chat. Going to be wow. But yes, and I want y'all to call up, actually call up to give Donkey to who you think deserved it over the 4th of July weekend. If you had the same experience. if you host it or whatever, or if you have a story to tell us about one time you hosted and somebody did the same thing to you,
Starting point is 01:06:56 your family and friends. Call up right now, 1-800-585-1051. It's topic time. Call 800-585-105-1 to join in to the discussion with the Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody. It's the Breakfast Club. Jocelari is here,
Starting point is 01:07:17 Charlemagne, NVR out. Lauren LaRourles is in, and the topic is, I just gave Donkey to live. like my family and friends who didn't help me clean up and who could not keep control of their kids because I was pinching everybody little kid I shouldn't have to do that. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:07:30 You know what's crazy though? When I was listening to you, I'm like, I don't think I've ever stayed like really fully behind and help somebody clean up after like a barbecue or family gathered like I might gather trash around me on my way out. I was going to try to help nothing. I will do that. On the way out. Especially as like the younger people in the family yet.
Starting point is 01:07:45 Right. But like to fully be there and like be wiping down. Like after shift. No. Yeah, but see I didn't even require all that. You don't got whacked down table. You don't got to even help put the furniture back up or nothing, but goddamn all that trash. And then like it was trash from people, like from people's kids. They would throw the little huggy juices
Starting point is 01:08:02 on the damn ground. It wasn't real crazy, but it's like clean up after your kids, clean up after yourself, and just help a little bit. I think I'm more mad about them not taking control over their kids. I can't stand it. Was the food good? Did you have food left? Yes, absolutely. We had everything. Fried chicken, ribs. We had bake ribs, grilled ribs,
Starting point is 01:08:20 hot dogs, hamburgers. You know, I made all the whole Shabay. No, actually some people did. I required them to pitch in. Everybody bring something. If I brought you, we got clean up to. Yes, everybody, because this is the house. This is my house, y'all.
Starting point is 01:08:33 Y'all, this is a privilege being in my house. Good morning. Who is this? Good morning, Jess. What's up, ladies? What's up? T-neck. What's going on, girl?
Starting point is 01:08:41 Oh, what's up? Call it from T-neck. What you think? Calling from T-neck. There's two reasons. First of all, you got to get a little bit of Donkey, because you know what? If you host an event,
Starting point is 01:08:51 You can't be complaining about the end of the event when you got to clean out that people don't help. I know, yo. That's just my feelings. You know, it's all good. Don't get me wrong. You're my people. But, you know, you know, you can't, you can't be complaining. I know, yo, I think it was more sort of kids, yo.
Starting point is 01:09:07 That's what I think, you know. I think it was more sort of damn kids, yo. Get a hold of your kids. Why you got your kids? Bad-ass kids. You know what I'm saying? Listen, something I'm seriously, you did a show. And I've been trying to not really trying to.
Starting point is 01:09:21 to call it, but I'm glad I got through. You did a show, baby, 10 years ago in T-neck. Okay. I'm not going to say you over at this place called Regina. Okay. And we owe you an apology because it's like
Starting point is 01:09:34 a diner on one side and the on the other side. And we was mad loud on the time. And it was a lot of noise. Yeah. Yeah. We're not on purpose. So I want to apologize for all of us
Starting point is 01:09:45 that was on the other side. No, that's okay. We didn't know who you was at that time. Yeah, not. But we ain't doing it on purpose. No, I was going to say either way, I was over there having fun. I wanted to come over there after that. I was like, damn, they louder to me.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Let's just go over there with them. So I officially apologize for the crew from T-Dak. No problem. We feel you. And we're proud of you and congratulations for all your success. But don't be complaining about cleaning enough. All right. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:10:12 I love y'all back, man. Appreciate it. Good morning. Who's this? This is Chris. How you doing? Come on, Chris. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:19 Me and my wife's been married. 35 garras, every single cookout. Same thing. I always cook way more than what I'm anticipating, because I rather have more than not enough. Right. And when it's over, her family takes all the leftovers and disappear. My family's been staring clean every single time.
Starting point is 01:10:40 Damn. Your wife, Black? No, I'm Black. She's white. Oh, damn. Oh, so her family, the white people take the food, leave. I bet you they do. Oh, they jet.
Starting point is 01:10:53 Baby they never had no season like that. Yeah. I would do the same thing if I were those people. We've got no food for a half a week. If my family's sitting there cleaning. And look, thank you so much. Thank you so much, black people.
Starting point is 01:11:08 We're going to take this food back to the white committee. We'll see you next year. Thank you so much, man. We're still taking calls for donkey at a day. Call up right now. 1-800-5-8-1-0-0. Netflix, if you're watching you at home and you got a story about the 4th of July weekend or got a story about hosting and people don't help you clean up or they don't get a hold of
Starting point is 01:11:29 that bad-ass kids and you got a babysitting all of that. Call up right now. 1-800-58-1051. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Ciao. Call, call. Tell me.
Starting point is 01:11:40 Maybe. Talking about it. It's topic time. Call 800-585-105-1 to join into the discussion with the Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody. the Breakfast Club, Jets Salarius, Charlamana Envy is out. Lauren LaRosa is in. And it's Dunkier today.
Starting point is 01:12:01 I basically gave my family and friends dunk year today who didn't help me clean up after the event that I hosted at my house. It's about 55, 65, 65 people at my own. 55 or 60. Yeah, like 60 people at my house, man. And look, Rome was ready coming. You know, Rome got five kids.
Starting point is 01:12:18 And Rome always, whoever baby mother, whichever baby mother here around when he bring the other kids, that's the one that they got to get the kids. because we all love the kids. Yeah, he definitely would help him. But he ain't coming. He didn't come. He had another event somewhere, but that would have put the event as 65 people.
Starting point is 01:12:35 Rome and his kids would have came. And then his girlfriend got three kids. No, that would have been about 70 people. Jesus Christ. You should have just had a cleaner. Like, you should have scheduled to cleaning afterward. And he had some hands while you were there. I know.
Starting point is 01:12:49 You should have prepared. People, it's the holiday. People ain't got work. But you know what I'm prepared for? Because I live so far from Baltimore. I live like almost two hours from Baltimore. People will always be like, oh, yeah, you live too far, I'm not coming.
Starting point is 01:12:58 I thought people wasn't going to be like, no, I ain't coming. I ain't coming. Not one person, barone. Not one person, barren. And you'll be looking for cookouts now. Yes. People don't, the cookouts don't be as, you're right. You know?
Starting point is 01:13:09 Yeah, because like you said, it didn't even feel like 4th of July this year. But, yeah, we're taking calls. Good morning. Who's this? Hey, good morning. This is Akoya from Cali. Hey, girl. How are you doing?
Starting point is 01:13:20 First of us, I want to say that I love you and Lauren. You guys are doing. going great on there. Keep up the great work. Thanks, babe. And you're going to motivate me so much. And you make me want to just get into, like, broadcasting and journalism.
Starting point is 01:13:32 Oh, period. Thank you for that. You're doing really great. Keep up the good work both of you guys. Thank you. My first talk the other day is going to be to whoever I called and told them to tell Jess to hide her phone from the screen. Oh.
Starting point is 01:13:45 Oh, damn. You saw something else what happened? What did you see? Yes. Just hide your phone from the screen, girl. We've seen a picture of Chris and everything. He fired his shit. 80. He's fine. 80. Oh, I go. My n-ha.
Starting point is 01:13:57 I'm happy for you, girl. Thank you so much. Thank you. Another donkey today is, yeah, I understand. When you go advanced with your family, they don't never want to help you clean up. I host Thanksgiving all the time. Get their little third plate. Go to the car and check. Yep. Yep. See, Thanksgiving ain't that bad for me. Before July, for July, people get all drunk and after the fireworks show.
Starting point is 01:14:17 They'd be like, all right, we out. Because they got the long drive after. Yeah. Exactly. All drunk and don't want to clean up after the bar. people want to ask where they how links at. Well, thank you, sis. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 01:14:28 Okay, this too. Keep up the great right, y'all. Thank you. Yes, ma'am. Hello, who's this? Yes, Mrs. Jeff, this is Audio Calli. A, Super Sub-Zo.
Starting point is 01:14:37 Okay, what's type? Super Sub-Zo. It's very much giving. Good morning. Yes, thank you. Good morning to you, too. Mm-hmm. No, my take on the topic is,
Starting point is 01:14:46 like me and my wife put on Thanksgiving every year. Mm-hmm. And at least sometimes, our family would leave and didn't clean up. And so I mentioned it. They could stay over and help cleanup.
Starting point is 01:15:00 And they help them. And they take off a lot of pressure. So you have to probably mention it to them. And could stay over and help. Yeah. Yeah. The younger people in your families don't be seeing the older people start to clean up and just hopping?
Starting point is 01:15:16 Like that's not a thing? No. It used to be when I was younger. When we were younger, yeah. But that has won off. Now my son, he will, him and his friends, help. But like, the
Starting point is 01:15:26 another teenage. I still will do it. Like, if I see my aunt start to clean up and stuff, like, I just get up and start to help that. That's just naturally what she would do. The least I could do. I ain't really, you know.
Starting point is 01:15:36 Unless I bought food. They're not psyched. I'm not going to bring food and clean up, Jess. That's too much. That's probably what they're going to say to. Good morning. Who is? There's Courtney from Tulsa, Alabama.
Starting point is 01:15:46 Hey, Courtney from Tulsa. How you feeling? Hey, Jeff. Hey, good morning. Hey, good morning. I understand y'all. So it's only me and my sister And she got three kids
Starting point is 01:15:59 And I got three kids Okay And I've cooked every single holiday Like everything Oh wow She always comes over She'll sleep until the food is done She eats
Starting point is 01:16:10 She packs a go tray And then she leaves She don't clean or nothing Damn And this sis And this sis Yeah The older sis too
Starting point is 01:16:21 But she's been doing this for a couple years now It sounds like right She's been doing this all our lives So you can plan that So Lauren's point She's like you already know When you're the friend that just Bring the drinks of the vibes
Starting point is 01:16:33 Y'all know what I'm coming for You know what I'm coming with No no My mom used to be here And help us You know Help me cook Help stuff and everything
Starting point is 01:16:41 But then my mom passed And it was just me Doing everything And then I'm like Well damn Are you gonna shit for here girl Like it's just me But no
Starting point is 01:16:49 So do you talk to your sister About that? She already know I ain't gonna talk to her See, but no communication goes a long way since If you, like, verbally communicate that to it And she might actually stick around and help clean up Or, you know, she might come over and help you cook
Starting point is 01:17:03 From now on, you know, mention, mention mom to her, man. Remember, mommy used to help me with mom. You ain't here no more. It's just me and you. So you got the help. But now I said, I'm going to stop hosting. Like, I didn't hope. No.
Starting point is 01:17:17 Obviously, you're the one that could cook. Your sister probably can't damn cook. So, no, we need you on the ones and twos on the grill. I don't like the family gathering people that be doing it. Y'all can't just not want to do it. I know. I'm never going to stop. And the drinks are going to do.
Starting point is 01:17:34 We need to go somewhere and get a play. Now, I'm not going to ever stop complaining, but I ain't going to stop doing it either. I'm going to always hope. Yeah, I give the best events. Oh, yeah. Thank you, girl. That was donky other day where we give people the credit for being stupid. It's actually Sholomaine's segment, but I just felt like I felt it in me,
Starting point is 01:17:53 the spirit moved me to give my family and friends don't get a day to day. But next we got the latest with Lauren. What we're talking about coming up, Lo? We got some updates. Chris Brown paying some money to the people in that case. You've been talking about that dog case. Future is talking about falling in love. And, girl, Ice Spice might have been kissing Spider-Man,
Starting point is 01:18:09 but I got the details. I reached out over 4th of July weekend and bothered those teams. No, they was. They was kissing. We're going to talk about it. All right. All right. I'm mad at it. I like little Toby McGuire. That's the first Spider-Man. Yeah. Oh, it's the breakfast. Love.
Starting point is 01:18:23 horror movies, but also working on yourself. Mental Health is horrifying is the podcast where those two worlds collide. I'm Candice Green, a registered psychotherapist, and I'm inviting you to journey into the darkness with me. I explore the mental health themes behind your favorite horror stories and what they can teach us about fear, resilience, and healing. It's self-care with a sinister twist. Listen to Mental Health is Horrifying on the free IHeart Radio app or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotbby. Okay, if you know me, you know this. I'm always searching for inspiration, for support, and useful tools to help maximize joy.
Starting point is 01:19:05 So this podcast lets us uncover all of that together. We're going to have these meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people, like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges that she never saw coming. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer, and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand postpartum depression. I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Olympic champ Sean Johnson revealed why she had no choice but to be a gymnast. There was something about gymnastics that was intoxicating to me. It's given me a belief that we all have one of those treasures inside of us. We just have to find it.
Starting point is 01:19:45 Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your My husband is currently on a vacation with his mistress and I'm confronting them. Tell me, Sophia, how did she even catch them? One Amazon shopping receipt. He accidentally sent her a photo of the kid's Christmas gifts with a delivery to another woman at the bottom. He exposed himself? That's a rookie move. Couples massages, monogrammed bath robes, and lingerie he then moored her for.
Starting point is 01:20:16 So she spent four weeks gathering evidence and taped a 10-page letter inside his luggage before he flew out. In his luggage, she came to play. And the second he landed, he blocked her. So she called the hotel room directly and got the mistress on the phone. Ooh, she got the mistress live on the phone? That is a bold move. Let's see if it pays off. Then it gets worse. He took the mistress on the Bahamas honeymoon trip he had planned with his wife. And then the mistress tagged him on Facebook, outing the fair to her entire family. That's like a whole public confession. And spoiler, two years later, karma hits him so hard. He's calling his ex-wife in tears saying about the mistress. What a mistake that was. To find out what happened, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHart
Starting point is 01:20:59 Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, everyone, it's the Jonas Brothers. If you haven't heard, our new podcast is called Hey Jonas. And this week, we're hanging out with someone we're really big fans of. Millie Bobby Brown. That's right. 11 herself. We talk about her new movie, Anola Holmes 3, Family Life, and all the amazing things she has going on right now. This blew my mind when I saw this, Billy Bobby Brown. You have over 60 animals. First of all, how do you even keep track of everybody? And second, do you
Starting point is 01:21:26 have favorites? Who are they? And why? Yeah, I need to know about this. Okay. I don't know where the number's 60. I really got to figure that out. And I could actually have over 60. I just need to really know that number. There have been plenty of sheep in my bed. It's a big bed. In the bed. Literally sleeping in the bed.
Starting point is 01:21:46 Yeah. Plus, we find out what she really feels about Stranger Things ending. Five seasons, almost 10 years of your life. I could have never guessed it. I started when I was 10 years old. Our conversation with Millie Bobby Brown is out now. Go check it out. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 01:22:03 Good morning. What's up, y'all, it's the Breakfast Club. Jess Salaries, it's here, Charlemagne, Envy, is out. But we got Lauren La Rosa in, and let's get to the latest with Lauren. Lauren becoming a straight fat. Made it! She gets them from somebody that knows. somebody. She gets the detail.
Starting point is 01:22:20 I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything. She'd be having the latest on this. The latest with Lauren LaRosa. Sometimes you have facts, sometimes you have detail, sometimes you have a little bit of everything. Well, it's the latest. Brought to you by Top Dog Law on the Breakfast Club. Talk to me.
Starting point is 01:22:37 So we talked a bit about Chris Brown in the case that he was going through with a former housekeeper who was attacked by a dog on his property. So that case has come to a decision and it was decided that Chris Brown and his company have to pay $13
Starting point is 01:22:54 million dollars. Damn, that's a lot of money. Now listen, he has to pay, Chris Brown and his company have to pay $12.9 million in damages to the housekeeper, a woman named Maria Avela for negligence. Her sister, Patricia, who was working with Maria when the attack happened, was
Starting point is 01:23:09 awarded $885,000 for emotional distress and Maria's husband, Maria's housekeeper, her husband, Oscar, Olivia, who claimed at the time that because of her injuries, it affected their marriage and deprived them of their intimacy. Now, hold on now. How about
Starting point is 01:23:26 everybody eating all for this? He was awarded $50,000. Now, it got lower as it with them. But it's because what they're saying is that this attack, which Maria detailed in a very emotional testimony in court, and we know Chris Brown took the stand as well. She talked about his side of things.
Starting point is 01:23:41 She says that, like, you know, surgeons harvested skin from her abdomen graft onto her mangled arm. It left her in extreme pain and unable to bend at the waist. She talks about the laceration to her face and how it required dozens of stitches. And because of the pandemic at the time,
Starting point is 01:23:59 her family couldn't even come and visit her for about five days in the hospital. So she went through everything alone. And so the family, her sister, her husband, talked about what they experienced kind of going through this with her. And the sister was there working with her. Okay, so her sister was actually there.
Starting point is 01:24:14 Yeah. So, you know, they've been awarded this. So yeah. But I've just never heard of that. Somebody, you and your family eat. Like, you get a check, you get a check.
Starting point is 01:24:21 Now, I'm not saying to her, and her, that the girl who got bitten, like she, she got bit that she shouldn't have been awarded, whatever, however much money, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:24:29 Because that sound crazy. Didn't that skin graph ain't no joke. When they have to take skin from another part of your body, like, you know, from a burn or whatever, that, that's, that's extensive.
Starting point is 01:24:39 That is a lot. But like, her husband and her sister, I never heard. I never heard of, well, you and your family getting paid because you got bit about a door.
Starting point is 01:24:45 They were obviously able to prove that the damage that they, like the secondhand damage is the actual real thing. Yeah, it wasn't only for her. It didn't only affect her. Yes. All right. Yeah. Now, in other news, still like a, you know, a bit of an update.
Starting point is 01:24:58 Not even a bit of an update. This is a real update here. Big Tigger. So over the 4th of July weekend, there were some updates in the back and forth between him and his wife, Alicia, and that whole investigation into the domestic district that we've been talking a lot about here. Big Tigger actually posted to his Instagram yesterday.
Starting point is 01:25:14 and he says that he's officially going to step away from the mic. He says for as long as I've been in this industry, my focus has always been to keep the spotlight on the culture and the incredible people that I get to interview. But right now, my personal life is in the public eye and has become the subject of overwhelming speculation and misinformation. Through all of this, what hurts the most is being away from my son. Nothing is more important to me than being a great father,
Starting point is 01:25:35 so I've decided to step away from the mic for a while to focus on my family and give my legal team the room they need. As I previously said, I unequivocally deny every allegation, and I am looking forward to clearing my name. Thank you so much for all of the love and the support. So wait, like stepping away, like you retire, like he's like retiring, stepping in like not going to come back? He didn't say retiring, but I think what it is,
Starting point is 01:25:56 I mean, because at one point we were, he had gotten back to the show. Remember he did the apology and stuff like that. I do know he took a couple of days. There were a couple days that he wasn't on air when some more news had developed that we talked about the last time we were here. But I think he's just saying until things are sorted out and we won't be hearing him on the show.
Starting point is 01:26:14 But there's been a lot that happened, you know, since I was at the BET Awards rehearsal for the red carpet. And the video. You saw the video. Yeah, the ring camera video that I told you guys was a thing dropped. And so you saw kind of like, you know, what the tussle was between him and Alicia, who is his wife. He was ordered to stay away from his kids through court documents because she was granted temporary protective order, you know, some time ago. So I think he's just trying to focus right now and stick to what's important, which, I mean, you know, being a father and trying to figure this out. And you haven't spoken to her anymore.
Starting point is 01:26:45 I did not speak to her recently. No, not after all of these things. But yeah. Yeah. But as we keep going, another update from over the weekend, 4th of July weekend. You know Michael Rubin. Yes, I did. That big 4th of July party.
Starting point is 01:26:59 The one I'd be hugging the niggas from the back. But it's not a crime. It's not a crime, y'all. Yeah. So Michael Rubin had his annual 4th of July all white party. Oh, my God. Everybody was there as well, too. I saw Jay Z, Swiss Beats.
Starting point is 01:27:12 And Swiss Beets son was like DJ the party at one point. Oh, that's what's that. Tiana Taylor, there's a video of her going viral, winding it up there, Cardi B performed, like the people popped out as they always do, tons of rappers, entertainers, but there was one conversation that went viral from the party because Ice Spice.
Starting point is 01:27:27 There were photos of Ice Spice and Toby McGuire. Yes, ma'am. That went viral because people thought that they were kissing. So there's a photo that was shot of them. You're looking down from the street at them up on like a balcony or rooftop, and you see them leaning in. Toby McGuire's hand is on her arm.
Starting point is 01:27:43 and it does look like they're leaning in for a kiss. That's what I thought I saw. Now, I reached out to a rep for Ice Vice, and they told me that they weren't kissing, that they were actually sharing a vape. So I said... That's basically kissing. No.
Starting point is 01:27:57 That's what a lot of people would respond to my story with? Yeah. I asked, I'm like, well, were they shotgun in the vape? Right. Because, you know, you lean in for a shotgun, and it's kind of like... And ain't nobody shotgun in no vape, but go in. They said that the kissing...
Starting point is 01:28:09 So Ice Spice's team is denying this. They said that the kissing rumor is not true. That is not what the picture was showing, the picture was deceiving, the actual leaning and the touching of the arm, because I specifically asked about that. They said that was them being caught in the midst of greeting each other before they shared the vape.
Starting point is 01:28:22 But they were saying there's nothing to see here, but, you know. No, stop. Like, no. Yo, I had my hopes so high for her. Because, yo, I love, I love told me McGuire as Spider-Man. And I don't even like Spider-Man. But I love Toby McGuire. That was the first Spider-Man I ever saw my life.
Starting point is 01:28:37 He was always very much fine, always given. So I thought this was like something that, you know what I'm saying? How old is it? Child, he's 51 years old and ice spice is 26. His white ain't ageing like everybody else, why? I know that's right. Toby looked good, 51. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:51 Because she's 20, okay. People was pointing out. I'm like, I didn't know he was at agey, though. I didn't, I didn't either. But now when you think about it, it's like I was very, very little watching him. Yep. And Spider-Man. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:01 Damn. No, they line. Hit up Toby and him. You didn't hit up Toby. I did not. No, I didn't. I can do that. I can be talking about.
Starting point is 01:29:08 Yes. Hit up until he ended up. Now he ended up. Because he's outside with Ice Spice and the munches. Spider much. Oh, my God. Girl, yes. Well, that is the latest for the hour.
Starting point is 01:29:18 It is brought to you by Top Dog Law. Any accident, Bigger Small called Top Dog Law. Corrid. And that was the latest for Lauren. Up next, we have the Emmy Mix. Oh, up next. He got the Envy Mix. He's going to DJ like he here, but he's not.
Starting point is 01:29:34 I'm going to get his ass, show. I'm going to get his ass. I'm going to call out on me last minute. But, all right, get ready. Be prepared. I know. Hey, oh, shut up. Be prepared to throw it back.
