The morning, second day down. Yesterday, I went to do some more chapters in my audio book, right?
Starting point is 00:03:29 How many more you did? Man, I read 110 pages in five hours yesterday. More than I did the first day. Okay. It was only 41 pages. Okay. So, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:39 And today, I'm gonna finish. All right. So, how long is your book? This is pretty long. It's like 200, 230 pages. Yeah, it's like 200. It's a nice, nice, quick little read. My kids would have knocked it down a couple hours.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Yeah. It's actually 211 pages, and that's including the acknowledgement. There you go. Yes. Yes. So that's pretty good. Healthy read. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:00 I could have did that. than 48 hours. That's what's up. That's all you do anyway. So that's fine. So I can't try it out a couple hours and bang, but it's all good. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Whatever. Go free order just book, though, April 28th, baby. Please do. That's right. That's right. And today on the show, Eva Marcell will be joining us. You know from America's Next Time Model.
Starting point is 00:04:17 She's an actress. She was on Real Housewives of Atlanta, I believe. She'll be joining us. Salute to Eva, man. The reason I salute to Eva is because there's a lot of people who are affiliated with America's Next Top Model
Starting point is 00:04:27 and I guess they got promo for other things, but they don't want to come to certain places. Like there was a person who didn't want to come to Breakfast Club. They were scheduled for Breakfast Club, but then they wanted us to put in writing that we wouldn't ask them about America's next top model. I've never had that request in, you know, 28 years of radio.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Well, you know, you said the name the other day. Well, I don't, whatever. He was saying for the name later, too. You act like you don't have been doing radio forever. I don't. Maybe people didn't hear me say it. I'm just making sure. Maybe I'll say it during Eva's interview.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Maybe. Okay, next hour. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe you will. But maybe you will not. But yes, so Eva will be joining us. And today is Erica Badu's birthday. My man, drop on the clues bonds for Erica Ba-Dio. I'll knock everything off this table over for Erica Ba-Du.
Starting point is 00:05:07 You hear me? Erica and Jill are your girls, honey. That's my wife's favorite artist, so I've been listening to them, you know, 28 years. But I love both of them as individuals. But Erica, that's my girl right there. All right. Well, let's get on the joke for her birthday. What you got for Erica?
Starting point is 00:05:20 What you want to hear? I mean, I got a lot of favorite Ericabu Records, but my favorite record is of New America Part One called The Healer. We got The Healer? Oh, yes, sir. Okay. Yes, sir. Happy birthday, Miss Badu.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Happy birthday. Front page news is next. Don't go anywhere as the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jess O'Lari, Sholamine, the guy.
Starting point is 00:05:39 We are the breakfast club. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Hey, okay. Erica said, we ain't dead, said the children don't believe it. We just made ourselves invisible.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Hurry it. Yeah. Can't see me, Jess. Okay, Shalane. Well, let's get some front page news. What's up, Mimi? Hi. Hi, Mee, Jolomey.
Starting point is 00:05:55 How y'allelam? Good morning. Good morning. So we start this morning with new questions about what's not in the Jeffrey Epstein file. So an NPR investigation reports the Justice Department may not have released all the documents tied to the Jeffrey Epstein case, including FBI interviews and records connected to a woman who was accusing President Trump of sexual assault decades ago. Now, according to NPR, more than 50 pages of FBI interview notes appear in official evidence log, but are not publicly available in the DOJ's online database.
Starting point is 00:06:31 A Democratic Congressman Robert Garcia, who oversees the House Oversight Committee, says he believes certain FBI interviews were withheld. Let's listen to what he had to say. It appears that the DOJ is withholding critical documents as it relates to a survivor who made allegations about President Trump when she was a minor, of which we know who the survivor is, of course, but they're redacted and we're not going to release that information.
Starting point is 00:06:56 So while some of the documents in that list are there, there clearly a series of documents have been removed. And we understand, and it's been confirmed, that those documents have been removed, likely pertain to some allegations that the survivor made about President Trump. why would anybody want to protect you know anyone that's in the Epstein files like even if you're in the DOJ right and I know that you're not supposed to be beholden to the president of the United States of America like why would you want to protect him if he you know might be connected to something so heinous
Starting point is 00:07:37 that's a really good question but according to NPR and their investigation the woman told investigators that in the early 1980s when she was about 13 years old Jeffrey Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump, and she alleges that Trump sexually assaulted her. FBI records show agents interviewed her four times. This is according to the investigation by NPR. And only one interview appears in the public release.
Starting point is 00:08:03 And that version, though, does not reference Trump. So in that one that appears in the files, it does not appear to reference Trump. The White House, they strongly deny the allegations. They call it false. And the Justice Department says, though, it is reviewing the records and will, publish any documents they may have left out that were not properly released. But meanwhile, another high profile name is addressing his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. I'm talking about Bill Gates.
Starting point is 00:08:28 So speaking to his foundation, Gates says he began meeting with Epstein back in 2011, years after Epstein had already pled guilty to soliciting a minor. And he admits that he failed to properly vet him and continued meeting with him through 2014, even after his thin wife, Melinda Gates, raised concern. that Gates told the Wall Street Journal in the past that he was stupid for maintaining his relationship with Epstein. Let's listen to that. Well, Jeffrey, in retrospect, I was foolish to spend any time with him. And he sort of got time with various people by spending time with other people.
Starting point is 00:09:03 So, yes, I think I was quite stupid. You know, I thought it would help me with global health philanthropy. In fact, it failed to do that. And it was just a huge mistake. Yeah, so in a private meeting with his foundation, Gates confirmed that he flew on Epstein's private jet. He met with him in New York, in Washington, Germany, and France, but says he never stayed overnight and he never visited Epstein's private island. And he's also addressing newly released Epstein files that show photos of him with women whose faces were redacted. And he says that those were Epstein's assistants and that Epstein asked him to take photos with those women after he met them.
Starting point is 00:09:45 but he says that he's never spent any time with any of the victims. And Gates is also revealing that Epstein, he became aware of two extramarital affairs that Gates had with Russian women. And Gates, he says that Epstein later referenced that in an email and suggested that that information could damage him and damage his reputation. And Gates is also acknowledging this morning that his association with Epstein may have also helped Epstein appear more legitimate, meaning if Bill Gates is hanging out with him, then other people will feel safe. hanging out with him.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Bill confessed to smashing two other cheeks, all right? Yes, he did. Yeah, he did. He said that there were two other Russian women that he,
Starting point is 00:10:25 yes, smashed. Yeah, yeah. If you confessed to getting some other cheeks outside of the marriage, man. It was probably more than two times. I'm just saying, if you confessed to two,
Starting point is 00:10:37 that means probably did at least ten. Jesus. $107 billion? Come on, man. Only two? But, you know, he apologized, but why did he apologize? He said he didn't do anything wrong. He just said that, you know, he took a meeting.
Starting point is 00:10:48 He was going to give money for philanthropy. And, but why apologize? If I did nothing wrong, why apologize? The cheeks? I mean, he cheated. Oh, I mean, for that part. So he apologized to his wife. Nah, he's not married anymore.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Oh, what's X? And I think he's saying he's apologizing, envy because he hung around with him even longer than he should have. So after he was convicted, he was still hanging out with him. And he was in the documents. There's pictures of him in the documents with women. So I think he's apologizing to his foundation because he's bringing unwanted attention, you know, to his cause. It is, and there must be, uh, well, it is interesting.
Starting point is 00:11:24 That is a good point, though, because it's like, he's the only person that's confessing to anything. I haven't heard nobody else in the Epstein Files and, you know, admit to anything. To say that it was even there. And for him to be who he is, he could just shut the hell up and it would go away. This wouldn't be a story. That's very, very true. Very, very true. So a lot of accountability this morning, if you call it that coming from Bill Gates in that.
Starting point is 00:11:45 that statement there or that talk that he had with his foundation. And coming up in the next hour, for the millions of people who keep America running, new rules are coming. I'm talking to all my truck drivers this morning. We'll explain what's changing in the next hour. All right. Everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-585-105-1. If you need to vent, hit us up now.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Phone lines are wide open. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. This is your time to get it off your chest. 800-58-1051. We want to hear from me. you on the breakfast club. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:12:19 Hello, what's up? I'm going to be this, PJ from Long Island. What's up, brother? PJ. Get it off your chest, brother. How are you going to? I'm sorry to bother you out this morning, man. You're not bothering us, bro.
Starting point is 00:12:28 My wife. Now, my wife had a baby in the bathroom at the hospital, man. She was neglected the entire time, man. My God. Wow. The entire house, bro. What hospital? Women's Hospital in Long Island.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Damn. How did that happen? How did they end up leaving her in the bathroom? Why wouldn't they take her in a room? So, this is the situation. We arrived there. At 2.13 a.m., I begged them three times at the receptionist. My wife read the room. My wife's in the room.
Starting point is 00:12:51 They talk about, oh, she's just violated. This is normal. This is normal. My wife comes to the bathroom. She texts me. I'm bleeding. I run back to the lady again. My wife says she's bleeding. She said, oh, that's normal. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. So a housekeeper. My wife comes to the hallway now. A housekeeper that's cleaning the hallway. She demanded. Get this woman a doctor. She's in pain. She's in pain. She's in pain. My wife's like, I think I got to use the bathroom. She goes to the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Um, the water break. She, she texted me again. So I run out and tell the nurse that her water break. Nobody moves. Nobody does nothing. So I run in there myself. She said, the baby is coming. I run back to the nursery station.
Starting point is 00:13:27 I'm yelling. The baby's coming. By the time we get their roads and the baby fell out head first. Oh, my God. Jesus. Jesus. And no doctors, no nurses came in the bathroom. He even tried to help?
Starting point is 00:13:38 No nothing. We got images. We got video. We got everything. Is the baby okay? Yeah, how's the baby? baby safe? So far, so far, so good.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Like, I've been taking, we took him to the neurologist, pediatrician. It's just scary because even my wife, with the percent of everything came out, like, right there's, okay. Oh, my gosh. She's okay. What was the excuse the hospital gave you after that?
Starting point is 00:14:00 Like, what did they say to you? Let me explain this part, too. Again, I'm sorry. I'm so, so, I'm so sorry. It's so good, man. Get it off your chest. A woman came in 15 minutes after us. She was screaming, agonizing,
Starting point is 00:14:11 and, oh, this baby is coming. This baby is coming. They allowed her to get a room. Their excuse was that she was a lot more louder than my wife. Her demeanor showed like she need more attention. Only for us to have our baby seven minutes before her still. Was she a white woman? Yes.
Starting point is 00:14:25 And was all the nurses and staff, they're white too? Yep. And that's the, that's the fight. We're trying to, like literally I've DMs all of you guys. I've sent you guys emails. Like, I'm trying to get this message out there, man. I come up there. I just want to expose the situation because we was on, we was on eyewitness news so far,
Starting point is 00:14:43 but I need to get this message. out here like that's woman is hospital Long Island is horrible. Is your wife okay? Like the most part, now I mean she's all her best to be okay. Right. For the baby, but you know she's in and out every other hour. I'm every other day. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:14:58 A fight after fight. Damn. And what town is that Long Island, brother? It's a new high park. It's a hospital called women's hospital. You gotta get you an attorney, Mark, brother. Yeah, you got to get an attorney, brother. You definitely got to get an attorney.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Yeah. Yeah, I mean, that's what we're working on now. But I just feel like for the most part, people only, you know, what they don't hear, they feel, and I was like, I just, I just really got to get the message,
Starting point is 00:15:20 of course, like, because you got, you got, you got to let people know, like, it's telling how many times it's happened
Starting point is 00:15:25 that nobody's soaked up when it's put up when it's worth of the road. Right. You're right. Eddie, get this brother's information,
Starting point is 00:15:30 man, please. Let's see if we can get them to Ben Crump or somebody. Good luck, I'm glad your, your baby's doing fine, man.

We live! Hello, who's this? Yo, what's up? This Keith from Brooklyn, you heard.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Keith? Keep you, Brooke, Keith. Get it up for your chest, man. Oh, peace, peace, man. Hey, man, you know, first of all, man, I just want to give a big shout to your people all in the back. You know, everybody that works behind the breakfast club, man. You know, you guys are some dope people, man.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Thank you, y'all for keeping that machine going, man. They get on my nerve. What's up, Steve? Yeah, man. Yo, all right, yo, real quick. Yo, Charlomaine, what's up? Peace, God. Peace, Peace King.
Starting point is 00:16:41 How you, brother? All right, man. I'm good, brother. I'm good. Listen, man, you're a 46-year-old man. 47. All right. 47, all right, God bless you.
Starting point is 00:16:50 47-year-old man. Married with three kids, correct? Four. Four. Four. You got four. Just making sure I'm correct, all right? You're getting it.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Go ahead. Shalvin, do you know where your birth certificate is at? Uh, no. I mean, it's at my mama house. Why? It's at my mama house. What the hell? You live in New Jersey.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Why is your, why, why is your birth certificate at your mom's house? Because I grew up in Monskorn of South Carolina. I'm sure it's at my motherhouse under her bed. It should be on your person, Solomon. On your person? It's responsible for you to that have, for you not to have important documentation about yourself
Starting point is 00:17:25 like a person to forget or social security number. What are you trying to get at to her? You want us to have the voter all of all of my friends. I'm going to tell you right now. This scream. I'm going to know. No, I'm not, no. No, it's not about that.
Starting point is 00:17:40 It is not about that. It's not about that. I'm telling you right now, there's a narrative that it's hard for people to get these type of documentation, like birth certificates or social security cards. I got to cut that narrative out, especially somebody like myself that's also black. I lost my social security card and my social security in my birth certificate, and I replaced both of them. It don't cost over $20 to replace your birth certificate. It doesn't cost a lot of time. Like, a gig just had to do huzz over because I didn't know when you got married.
Starting point is 00:18:10 You had to change your social security to your spouse's. new last name, and it took a full day of doing it. Like, her full day was done going to the Social Security office, and I had to get a birth certificate before. It took me about two days to get it. It takes some time, bro. It's not easy. You just don't walk in and get it.
Starting point is 00:18:25 It's not easy, but it's possible. And this whole narrative that, oh, poor people can't get it or you can't get easy access to it, these things. And it's important. It's responsible for you to have those type of things. Yeah, but I have two copies of my certificate. But no, no, I can't. I keep it at home, but what I'm saying is you should have it.
Starting point is 00:18:46 You're like, there's no reason why, you know, your first certificate should be all the way in Moscow. You know, there's no reason. You're absolutely right. Why are you worried about what I'm doing? Because he's trying to tell you that you're... No, because you had posted something on Instagram a while ago. Like, you would be like, you guys are trying to spend this narrative that black and poor people don't have easy access to these documentation and that's just, that's not true.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Oh, my. Keith, and I'm almost guarantee his wife has a birth certificate. because I'm sure they had to travel, they need the passports. I'm sure his wife got all that. You know, Charleney don't know much about that house. His wife handles all that. Yo, I love you guys, man. You guys, you guys take it easy, man.
Starting point is 00:19:23 I appreciate you, Keith. But he does have to, it is important to acknowledge that, you know, if the Trump Save America Act passes, 21 million Americans will be at risk of losing their voting rights. Because only one in three black Americans have a valid passport. Nearly half of black Americans under 30 don't have a driver's license with their current name and address, okay? and millions of women whose names changed after marriage
Starting point is 00:19:44 don't have matching documents. Correct. So those things are important to acknowledge. Very important. I mean, I know like we like to act like things are so cut and dry, but they're not. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Do you know what your birth certificate is, Jess? No. Do you know what yours is? Yes. Stop lying. All right. It's my mother. It's your mother's like yours.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Where's yours at, Lauren? My mom has it. Okay. My aunt is at my crib. Okay. Mine is at my crib. I got all my kids. Why, why you did actually?
Starting point is 00:20:08 All right. I'm like, my actual. God, damn. When you get your house. I'm not that grown up. When you get your passport, your global entry and all that, you need all that information. So I'm not going to my mom. You might be in my house.
Starting point is 00:20:18 I told you yours that. The wife's a second. I got a joke. I know. I know she got all. You got a text of a minute. You got a text. Birth certificate is in the safe.
Starting point is 00:20:28 It probably is. I have no idea. I got it all. Get it off your chest. 800. You know what's so crazy, though. I remember a long time ago seeing my birth certificate at my mom's house and all it said was boy.
Starting point is 00:20:39 McKelvey. Oh my God. I didn't even have my name on it. That's how old you all. That is so crazy. At least they put boy. Boy. Boy.
Starting point is 00:20:47 Damn. That's crazy. We got the latest with Lauren coming up. What we talk about, Lord. Good morning. Yes, we do. So Cardi B did SNL a few weeks ago, and we talked about it here. And now there are reports that she had to go off on producers, and it all involves an archimesis of hers.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Who is lying on Cardi's? We're going to get into this conversation, okay? Because I've been trying to figure out where all of this came from and why. After all these good reports about her tour, we're going to talk about it. Why you dressed like a ketchup pill? Juicy. First of all, I'm wearing Milano D. Rouge. I like it.
Starting point is 00:21:16 I love the red. It's crazy. If you like it, just say that. It's nice. That's how you compliment. The latest with Lauren's next is the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Hey, bring your talk, L.L. Coobbe.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself. Damn. I'm being myself. Take me through that. Yeah. I'm the home guy that knows a little bit about everything and everything. Lauren.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that. Take me through that. Where she's going. The latest. Make me through that, take me through that. On the breakfast club. L.L. Cool, babe.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Talk to me. L.L. Coobe, young stop sign. Shut up. I don't know. You can talk on those stops on. I went that head looking over there. Put your head down so they can see what your hair line used to look like. I'm in the middle of getting a haircut right now.
Starting point is 00:21:57 We see. That hairlines in the middle too. All right, y'all. So, Cardi B was on SNL. She was the musical guest on their 1,000th episode. We talked about that episode. It was the episode where she did a bodega batty. And everybody was so excited because they're like in this climate.
Starting point is 00:22:12 is great. And Pete Davidson was also on that episode. Now, there was a report that broke yesterday via TMZ that Cardi B got upset on the set ahead of a rehearsal or during a rehearsal. So according to TMZ, she got upset because she overheard a joke that was supposed to go into the weekend update of the show. And the joke was about Nikki Minaj. Now, according to this report, the joke had nothing to do with Nikki Minaj and Cardi, who we know have issues and have had issues ongoing. But she just, according to this report, would have felt a way that the joke was even being inputted in the show, knowing that she's the guest
Starting point is 00:22:46 on the show. Now, they're alleging that the joke has something to do with Cardi B's affiliation to MAGA and that Cardi, when she got upset, things escalated and she threatened to leave the show. She threw her phone at the TV, allegedly breaking a TV monitor. She went to a producer's office
Starting point is 00:23:02 and they alleged that she punched a screen until it broke. Now, I feel like this was a... This... Slow newsday. Slow news. news at TMZ, right? How long ago? Three weeks ago? Yeah, and this is my thing.
Starting point is 00:23:15 I feel like this report, this is a lot over a joke that didn't even involve her and Nikki directly. I could understand her feeling like y'all know what y'all doing by and putting a joke and I'm here. But for her to do all of that? Very disrespectful, though. Like, do we know what the joke is?
Starting point is 00:23:27 Like, we made a punch the TV? How do you know this is true? I'm saying I don't believe that it's true. And after what would have happened three weeks ago somebody. It would have been punching and kicking television screens and all that. But that's what I'm saying if she had did that. It was something to warrant that.
Starting point is 00:23:41 It was like she's... So all that they mentioned in their report and TMZ's report is that the joke has something to do with MAGA, nothing to do with Cardi being Nikki Minaj. So I'm like, okay, so I reached out, I was trying to figure out potentially what this joke might have been.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I haven't heard back. I also reached out the Cardi's team. They didn't respond, but Cardi responded herself on X. And she said, hmm, all of these little random stories, F it. Let them talk.
Starting point is 00:24:02 Let them eat cake. Let them come to the ball. And she's heading into another sold-out, you know, show on the Little Miss Drama tour. She's killing that. Yeah, because yesterday was this story that broke and there was like a story about her and Stefan Diggs and the breakup around the Super Bowl and, you know, just. Nobody cares about the truth and the live more entertaining. And nine times out of ten, when you out there like doing something great, what she is right now, being on tour, you know, celebrating a successful album sold out shows.
Starting point is 00:24:30 It's going to be a lot of, you know, untruths set around that success. Yes, and there was a woman. I asked you about her earlier. She's a producer and a writer. Her name is Jamie Sullivan. She was too Jamie. I know Jamie. Yeah, and Jamie, she, I don't know if she was maybe working the show that day or what,
Starting point is 00:24:45 but she commented on the Jasmine Brand's post of the story and said that this was not true and that she was there and that this was lies. We're talking about white Jamie Sullivan? Yeah, that's my girl. I know her too. Yeah, well, she says she was there and that this didn't happen. It didn't go down like that. So debunked all the stories.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Yeah, basically. Yes. All right. Now, moving on. So I know you guys have been. What? Why do that? Just do her hand.
Starting point is 00:25:08 I'm like, what? What you do that? No, no. Go ahead, okay. Yo, chill, yo. Go ahead. I'll be missing it.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Okay. All right. So, moving on. So we've been seeing the celebration for Nipsey Hustle over the weekend. He got the Nipsey Hustle Boulevard on Sloshing and Crenshaw, which is where he grew up, right? But yesterday I saw a story that the Marathon Burger Store that he owns, they're expanding to, that his family owns, that they're expanding to Long Beach.
Starting point is 00:25:38 and they're doing it with Snoop Dogg's family, which is fired to hear. But just wanted to take some time to send some congratulations their way for that. Just look to my guy, Black Sam. Drop on the Clues, Black Sam. That's how fat I am. Every time I see Marathon Burger, I'll want it.
Starting point is 00:25:52 I ain't never had a Trilburger either, yo. I ain't never had a Marathon Burger, R's a grill burger man. All of these years. Let me ask you a question. I see Jay Cole was working there. I was about to mention that. I was about to tell y'all, yes.
Starting point is 00:26:02 So, Jake Coke, because remember, he was in Arizona because he was trying to get to L.A. So he got to L.A. So he got a job real quick to pay for the car. That's crazy. He got to L.A. And he went by Marathon Burger. And he was, you know, he was working there for the day,
Starting point is 00:26:20 just showing his love and respect to Nipsey and Nipsey's family. He's the man of the people. Yeah, that's what they called. Did he get his car out of the shop? Yeah, from that I know of, yes, he got the car out the shop. But yeah, he was also in the studio, too, with some of the folks over at TD. So people are wondering if that means new music is coming as well. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Yes. Really? Okay. Yeah. And that's all that. Oh, we have more time. Yeah. Do we have the Chris Bosch audio in?
Starting point is 00:26:47 All right. So yesterday, we learned some news about Chris Bosch. He was talking about a health scare that he had. He says he woke up in a pool of blood. And there have been conversations about his health previous to this. I don't think he said he woke up. I think he said he was going out to date. He was going to date night and passed out.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Yes. Let's take a listen. So I woke up covered in my own blood. It was crazy. It was fast. It was instant. There was no warning. I didn't have any time to prepare for it.
Starting point is 00:27:16 I was getting ready to go on a date with my wife. And the next thing you know, I was on the ground. I won't get into specifics. But you can kind of see I'm still recovering. But it was a scary thing. And it came fast. And it made me really have a different outlook on life. No matter what it is, make sure you don't wait.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Don't wait to take action because it could come fast. It could come quick. And I'm lucky to be alive. And I feel great about that. And now I'm thinking about how I live my day-to-day life. That's really it. I agree with him. He didn't wake up.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He still sleep. How the hell will you have done the video? See, that's why we have audio. Because when I heard the story, she made it seem like he was sleeping and woke up like that. But he was actually going out and passed out. That's what it was. I just meant like he woke up. I got you.
Starting point is 00:28:04 But yeah. But yeah, so back in 2016, when he retired, it was due to blood clots. And he admitted in a newsletter that he was owed more from life after having already survived a health situation and ended his prior career. But yeah, so. Did he ever say what was wrong? Why didn't he wake up in a pool of blood? No, we don't have any details on that yet. And, you know, maybe he'll talk about that.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Because, again, he's been open about some of the things that he's gone through. But I think he just wanted to send that message to people after you experience something like that. I believe when you get to a certain age, okay, and you start to have, you know, your health issues. if you're going to say something about them publicly, I think it's kind of like your duty to tell us everything because I be wanting to know just as a man. I've watched that interview.
Starting point is 00:28:43 I've watched the full state just to see what the reason was. What the reason was. I want to know what the symptoms are. I need to know for my own personal benefit. I think that's your duty when you get to a certain age. And he's not that old. He's only 41 years old. No.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Yeah. You know what, too? Like, I mean, of course, I knew who he was because he's a Hall of Famer. I don't, I'm not like a big. expert person but when I saw this I thought maybe this was gonna like because he's been talking about itself years prior to this I thought this is going to turn into him telling people like where to go to get things checked out like I thought it was going to lead to something else
Starting point is 00:29:15 I just want to know what happened I want to know why did you wake up in a pool of blood like because you know I'm a hypochondriac so where my anxiety set up I'll be thinking about that over and over and over and over I'm actually going to text my doctor today like so you're erring what happened to Chris Bobby what you think this could potentially be and not only that I just imagine if his wife wasn't there because his wife was the one I think that found him. So just imagine if he was just there by himself and he would just, would he have died?
Starting point is 00:29:39 Would he have passed? Like, what would have happened? It's just very scary. Well, he has letters to a young athlete, which is a book. And he says in his caption that he wrote about my experience. So maybe there's more there,
Starting point is 00:29:48 but nothing that he talked about in this video that he posted about. Why, everybody? Wake up in a pool of blood. Don't want to tell us what happened. Remember Tamar woke up in the pool of blood. I mean, y'all shock is a thing too. They got to get to a point where they want to.
Starting point is 00:29:59 But yes. I mean, and it is their own health issue. you know, they're not entitled to share with anybody. But if you're going to say something publicly, yeah, I would like to know more. I'm not going to lie. I would like. And we care. What happened? Yes. Yeah, well, we'll be back in the next latest
Starting point is 00:30:13 talking about some more things because Lamar Odom is talking about his drug addiction at the time and saying that he loved drugs and how it stopped him from a lot of days. Starting point is 00:32:13 In Atlanta, Georgia, at Martin's Almemada, Morehouse College, the students had their own protest. It featured two prominent figures in black history, Martin Luther King's senior and a young student, Samuel L. Jackson. To be in what we really thought was a revolution, I mean, people would die. 1968, the murder of Dr. King, which traumatized everyone. The FBI had a role in the murder of a Black Panther leader in Chicago.
Starting point is 00:32:43 This story is about protest. It echoes in today's world far more than it should, and it will blow your mind. Listen to if you can hear me on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief.
Starting point is 00:34:04 The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history. Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict? A villain. A nurse named Lucy Letby. Lucy Letby has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story? The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses. I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, Doubt the case of Lucy Letby, we follow the evidence and hear from the whole story. people that lived it.
Starting point is 00:34:35 To ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Lettby was. No voicing of any skepticism or doubt. It'll cause so much harm at every single level of the British establishment of this is wrong. Listen to Doubt, the case of Lucy Lettby on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. No, that's right. Shout to Lamar don't hold nothing back. Lamar's not all right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:02 I'll be like, I smoke crack. Okay, all right, so I got to avoid crap. That's how you say it. That's stupid. All right, that's the latest with Lauren. Now, when we come back, we got front page news, and then Eva Marcell will be joining us. So don't go anywhere. It's the breakfast club.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Good morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jenselaary, Sholomey, the guy. We are the breakfast club. Let's get back to some front page news. What's up, Mimi? Good morning. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:35:24 How y'allelamine? How y'all doing this morning? Good morning. Good morning. So we start this hour in Los Angeles, where the leader of the second largest school, district in the country is now at the center of a federal investigation. So FBI agents, they raided the home of L-A-USD Superintendent Alberto Cavallo yesterday. Agents served a court-approved search warrant at his home and at the L-AUSD headquarters in downtown L.A. and at a third property
Starting point is 00:35:49 in Florida linked to a consultant that he worked with. Now, authorities are not saying what they were looking for. The warrants are sealed and no charges have been announced. But sources say the investigation appears tied to an LAUSD-filled AI chat box contract with a now collapsed company called All Here. Now, the district, they launched this tool back in 2024. Months later, the company collapsed, and its founder was arrested on fraud charges, and the chat box, it was pulled. LAUSD, they spent about $3 million on the project. Now, the superintendent, he promised a review, but there has been no public update.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Now, the raid, it comes as tensions, though, between the district and the federal government have been escalating. Caballo, he's been a vocal opponent against the aggressive ice enforcement. He's refused to let ICE agents onto campuses directing schools to create safety perimeters around students and graduations and supporters, they're calling it protection, but critics like the Trump administration have called it defiance. Let's listen to some neighbors who witnessed the raid yesterday and what they had to say. I was with my wife for having her cup of coffee and we heard the sirens. They had A rifle pointed at the superintendent's office. And I'm thinking, well, maybe there was an intruder.
Starting point is 00:37:08 He's in a position of power, second largest school district in the nation. And he advocates for children and immigrants and, you know, that these people stay away from our schools. So this isn't the first time that Washington has stepped in just last week. the Trump administration, they moved to join a federal lawsuit, accusing L-A-USD of discriminating against white students. So the lawsuit, it challenges the district's decade-old desegregation framework. So that lawsuit argues that schools that are labeled Ph.B-A-O, meaning they have mostly Hispanic, black, Asian, or other non-white students.
Starting point is 00:37:48 They receive smaller class sizes, more staff, more money, and schools that are not labeled that way, including those with more white students, do not receive those same benefits. and the Justice Department says that that violates the Constitution's equal protection clause. And the LAUSD says it remains committed to equal access for all students. And right now, that investigation continues. And it's important to note that the federal government says they're not targeting LASD, but they are just targeting the superintendent. And they rated his office in downtown L.A.
Starting point is 00:38:19 looking for documents or whatever they haven't actually said yet. So we're still waiting to see exactly what they're hoping to find. Sometimes I wondered, do these people know these policies were implemented because other races were discriminated against for years. Like, I don't know. This whole white discrimination outrage we're seeing lately. Yeah. It's more rampant than ever now, for sure. I saw a woman on a plane, a JetBlue fight the other day going off, saying how the woman was serving the black people and not her.
Starting point is 00:38:51 She was like, you're not serving me because I'm white. I'm like, what is going on? What the hell is that going on? What is happening in the world. Yeah, it's happening for sure. And now to a tragic situation in Missouri involving students and an HBCU. So at Lincoln University, a track and field athlete is dead this morning after a stabbing. And his girlfriend, who was also a student and a sprinter at the university,
Starting point is 00:39:15 has now been charged in connection with his death. So police say 23-year-old Kavan Goldson was found with stab wounds to his chest and back at his apartment near campus. His girlfriend, or he was airlifted. to a nearby hospital where he later died. And according to investigators, his girlfriend, 27-year-old Danita Jackson, she told officers that she left work early on Sunday night because she wasn't feeling well. And when she returned home, she said she found Goldson inside her roommate's bedroom behind a locked door. Jackson told police that she used a hair clip to unlock the door,
Starting point is 00:39:48 and she found Goldson and her roommate in bed together. But they were clothed. She said an argument turned physical. and according to court documents Jackson told officers that Goldson kicked her in the stomach, knocking her off the bed and then he began choking her and she said that she reached under the bed, grabbed
Starting point is 00:40:04 a knife and stabbed him and then called 911. And when officers arrived, they took Jackson into custody and prosecutors they have now charged her with second degree murder and armed criminal action. Lord have mercy. Damn, yeah. Yeah, very, very sad. At Lincoln University, they released a statement.
Starting point is 00:40:21 They called it a tragic situation and says its thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted this morning. Yeah, very sad. Yeah. And because we know we have thousands of truck drivers listening this morning, the story is for you. The Trump administration, it's cracking down on who can legally hold a commercial driver's license in the U.S. And this could impact a lot of people in the industry. So the push, it follows a crash that happened in California that left a five-year-old girl with
Starting point is 00:40:47 permanent brain injuries. And the driver was foreign-born and had obtained a California CDL. And now the president is calling for what he's naming the Delilah's law, which could block states from issuing CDLs to undocumented immigrants. Now, at the same time, the Department of Transportation is stepping up enforcement. So that includes stricter English language requirements and a proposal to shut down about 550 trucking schools. A federal official say are unqualified or operating as sham programs. So here's why that matters, because if you already, if you're already licensed, you already meet the English requirement. that part may not affect you. But if you trained at or you're currently enrolled in one of those schools facing closure,
Starting point is 00:41:31 that could affect your certification, your renewal, or your ability to get licensed at all. Federal officials believe this could impact about 194,000 truck drivers. They could feel some sort of impact from this broader enforcement. Jess, you think your husband will be impacted by? Yeah, a lot of them truck drivers are foreign and a lot of them don't really understand English. They don't speak English. So that is very dangerous. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:41:52 They can't read the signs. There's a lot of them. So, um... Will your husband be impacted? Yeah, so I appreciate this story, Mimi. Will your husband be impacted? It's, I hope that they start taking this issue. Your Mexican husband be impacted.
Starting point is 00:42:05 Very serious because this is a serious matter. Oh, I'm saying. Okay. Joe, uh, will your Mexican husband be impacted? Do you think my Mexican and black husband will be impacted? I don't know. I don't know. Shoot.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Where's his birth certificate? Do you know where his birth certificate? Where is his birth certificate? mother. Where is mother? Shut up. Yeah, hilarious. And lastly, before we go, I just wanted to say that Jesse Jackson will be lying in state. He'll be in South Carolina this
Starting point is 00:42:38 week, or this Monday. He'll be lying in the state capital. So for visitors who want to get there, he'll be there this Monday, March 2nd in the South Carolina. State Capitol flags will be at half staff to honor him. He was, his family had reached out to the
Starting point is 00:42:53 Washington to the capital there House Speaker Mike Johnson He turned down him lying in safe Inside the U.S. Capitol building But he will be in South Carolina So that's where the funeral will be He's from South Carolina Well the funeral will actually be in Chicago
Starting point is 00:43:07 March 6th The public celebration And there would be a private funeral March 7th to honor him Wow so D. So D.C. turned him down Mike Johnson a sucker for that That's crazy. Wow South Carolina held it down
Starting point is 00:43:20 Yeah for sure They held it down So they're saying if you plan to go, get there early, arrive early, there will be a lot of traffic and a lot of security. So it's Thursday. So if you plan accordingly, that will be Monday. All right. Thank you, Mimi. Of course, that's your front page news.
Starting point is 00:43:36 I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown TV. For more stories, follow the black information network or visit biannews.com. Thank you, Mimi. All right. Now when we come back, Eva Marcell will be joining us. So don't go anywhere. It's the breakfast club.
Starting point is 00:43:47 Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Just a Larry and V. Charlotte me and the guy we are the breakfast club. You got a special guest in the building. Yes, we do. Eva Marcell.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Welcome back. How are you feeling? I am blessed and highly favorite. How y'all doing it at? Good to see you. You're like four scoops and valent. It's good to see you, Eva. Because you're one of the few people that's doing press right now
Starting point is 00:44:11 because everybody in their mama that was on America's next top model is scared to death to be pressed. Why that documentary is up. I'm not going to say who, but there was a person who told us. We said it on there. But go ahead. Oh, there was a person who told us that they weren't coming up here unless we put in writing that we didn't ask them about America's next top model. Yes. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:44:30 Were they promoting other things? Yeah, Winnie Harlow. She said about her to name. I think it's from the CEO club that she's in right now. Winnie's popping. And you know what? Shout out to Winnie Harlow. And I can absolutely appreciate her sentiments.
Starting point is 00:44:44 And I can tell you why. One of the young ladies on the documentary, if you saw it, Danny dropped dead gorgeous. She was one of the winners. And she said something that I think is, well, I know it's very true. It's something that I try not to talk about a lot because I'm very grateful for where I am. But doing top model definitely puts a scarlet letter on your back. I mean, to know me, y'all knew me. When you did, when you were with Wendy, y'all knew me as Eva Pickford.
Starting point is 00:45:13 I changed my name to Eva Marcelle, which is my legal middle name. But I changed it so that when I went to audition, I walked in rooms. I wasn't prejudged. They just saw a girl named Eva. It's not that uncommon of a name. So they see Eva M letter re for the role. And so then I would get the role. And later they would realize like,
Starting point is 00:45:31 oh my God, that's that girl from that show. But I can tell you about 10,000 doors are closed. For sure. I think it would be a good thing. Why was it a bad thing? Okay. Can I tell you why? Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:43 It's because we live in a new day. We live in a day today where to be a reality star is to be a Kim Kardashian. to be a reality star is to amplify a brand. And so when you put someone like a just hilarious on something, you already know that you're going to get automatic clicks because we're coming to see you off the top. And so if you're selling athletic wear, we might mess around a wet outfit too,
Starting point is 00:46:06 but we're going to watch it because of you. When I came up, there was no social media, Charlemagne, at all. My interviews came through you. So my voice came through you. And so me being a part of a brand took away. from the brand because y'all came to see me and if you're breaking out as a designer
Starting point is 00:46:26 you're not trying to worry about the girl that's walking down the runway, we're hangers. You're more so worried about the designer and the looks. And so it was an odd time because a big transition happened to where reality stars became
Starting point is 00:46:41 the big thing but it didn't change when it came to top model because it was a TV show first for this. But for us, it was a competition. Right. It was a competition that said, if you win this show, the baddest person in Modeling, the queen of modeling, Tyra Banks, has said you are good enough. She put you through a boot camp that said, you can do the rigors.
Starting point is 00:47:07 And if you get this done, you go out into the world, you're going to be a star. And then we went out into the world. And they were like, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Mr. Star, when are you going to twinkle? But you and Takara and like a war? Winnie, y'all found a way to brand yourselves. And Tyra always talked about branding. Like, she always used branding, like, even before it was a buzzword.
Starting point is 00:47:26 So I feel like, did you learn that there at America? Absolutely. See, for me, and I can only speak for myself, I come from South Central Los Angeles. I come from, you're going to hustle. That's part of who you are. And then I went to college, and I went to Clark, Atlanta University, home of W.E.B. DeV. DeV. DeV. And the motto was, find a way or make one.
Starting point is 00:47:46 So between coming up in the hood and knowing that to get mine in the paint and then going to college and understanding scholastically what that meant and putting that into to work. After doing top model, I was like, oh, okay, cool. So Tyra said I wasn't good enough and I won the show. I'm popping. Now I got to do to work. And that was one thing that I was never confused about. One thing that Tyra did instill in me. And I believe the rest of the girls, how much they picked it up or not. I think that they believed that, I see, soon as you won like the stars would open and you'll get a billion dollars in your bank account they're like no we're going to give you a hundred thousand dollars sprinkled not quickly
Starting point is 00:48:30 and you're the fight for that hundred thousand well see no i didn't and i know i've heard other stories and i cannot discount anyone's story but eva marcile pickford got her hundred you said sprinkled those it was like 10 every two yeah it was like you get your initial money then when you came and I had the privilege of actually signing one of the only girls to sign to cover girl. So after getting that initial 100,000, they're like, okay, now we want you to sell mascara. Now, you know what I mean? And so it went on from there.
Starting point is 00:49:05 But the work never stopped. The work is 10,000 times more than anyone expected. And I think that's not what's talked about. What do you think made you and Takar's experiences with top models so different? because I feel like y'all are the only two girls that talk completely positive about everything. And even when you talk about the negative, it's not nothing like with the other girls.
Starting point is 00:49:25 No, no. I mean, the negative is, it's life, right? Like that's why I say, I mean, you have sharpies here, but you usually learn how to write with a pencil. That's why they have erasers. Because to air is to be human. You're not going to always get it right.
Starting point is 00:49:40 And it's not just me. It's Yaya DeCosta, who played Whitney Houston on Lifetime. Yeah, yeah, I went on to do, I mean, five seasons of Chicago med. She did Lincoln Lawyer. My girl's popping. And a lot of the women are, I would be a bit biased to say season three, we definitely
Starting point is 00:49:59 stood out. And the black girls for sure stood out. But I think that that's what they were casting at that time. They cast it in early season, season three. They didn't really know what they were doing. It wasn't even called reality TV. Like, if you really think about it back in 2003, there was no reality. reality TV. You had Survivor and you had a real world and that was it. And then you had top model and
Starting point is 00:50:24 American Idol. I won the same year as Fantasia. So that's how long I know. That's how long ago it is. And so to answer your question, Lauren, I think that it was just a great group of stars. They got women that were bona fide stars in their own right. I don't know if the producers knew exactly what it is. They were going to tap into. And, and, you know, and really make that star twinkle, but they taught us how to shine. And they had stars like it or not. And Takara walked in there,
Starting point is 00:50:55 F-A-B-O-L-O-L-O. I mean, when I tell you that, girl, it's fabulous to this day. I love the fact that you spelled fabulous wrong, but I love it. That's how she spelled it. F-A-B-O-L-U-S. That's, I mean,
Starting point is 00:51:07 that's how she spelled it when she walked in. She's like, F-A-B-O-L. I was like, I mean. You're fabulous, too. Your hair looks amazing. Oh, my God. Thank you. Listen, that's a shout out to the,
Starting point is 00:51:16 one and only nap star, Annette out of New York City, she got five shops, but Annette, she does me from my TV show, all the Queens men. Remember right out? Yeah. What's up in a new? Yes, that's Annette. And thank you for that because
Starting point is 00:51:30 representation means a lot. That's why I'm here today to talk about my movie. And top model and all the things that I use to represent who black women are. And I fight like crazy from my natural hair. Were you invited to talk on the
Starting point is 00:51:45 documentary? that they did? Were you invited? Because we didn't see you in a documentary. No, no, no. You weren't even invited. I was not invited. I was not invited to talk about the documentary. I was asked when I realized that the documentary was coming out and they started promoting it. I was asked by, you know, New York Times, everybody
Starting point is 00:52:00 like, you know, what do you think? What do you think? It's hard to think when you don't know what you're watching. I had no clue how they were going to skew this, what they were going to do, but I am intelligent enough to know that after 22 years of a show, there's no way
Starting point is 00:52:16 you can actually do a positive documentary speaking about the way this woman truly changed the modeling game without talking to the people that helped do so. So I kind of knew they were going to kind of skew it in a way that was a bit biased. And I'm not here to say
Starting point is 00:52:32 that Tyra is perfect, but I will be the first person to say I'll rock hard body with Tyra Landbanks. You don't have some of the biggest stars on that. That's awesome. Because we most likely all have positive things to say. And so you can't skew a documentary. They didn't call it Takara, I believe.
Starting point is 00:52:49 I'm not sure if they called Yaya to do it or not. I tried to do an interview. I mean, I reached out to your rep prior to it and he said that you wanted to watch it. I reached out to Yaya's team and they said, no, she's not doing the top model conversation. Me and Sakara did an interview. But one of the things that I saw, because I saw you do the interview with CBS Mornings. Yes, we were on CBS Mornings. And people were upset about feeling like you were defending some of the things.
Starting point is 00:53:16 that happened in the interview, even though you said you were horrified. How do you feel when you see that? Because I know you've said, Tyra's done so much for me, you're not going to get me to a point where I'm doing what we see a lot of the other girls do. It's not more so about how much she's done for me. It's about how much Tyra has done as a whole. I think that we as as onlookers with media, journalists, I think it's very easy to look on the outside end and to point and call a flaw, especially years and eons later.
Starting point is 00:53:45 If I was to look back at Golden Girls, the first three episodes, they had a very, very cute and flamboying gay man who absolutely disappeared. After episode four, where is said best friend? He's nowhere. The world wasn't ready for it. We don't talk about it. We don't deal with it. Now, if we look at today's landscape about diversity and inclusion and where we should be, look at friends. It took, what, eight seasons for them to get a black girlfriend and it was Aisha.
Starting point is 00:54:15 I mean, we can look back at a lot of projects and think about where we were and look at where we are, what we can affect, and where we can go. But I think that we don't do ourselves a proper service when we look at something like Top Model, which was so historic, that was a brainchild of a very audacious young woman that decided to go out and do something great. Did she stumble along the way? I don't see anybody at the Olympics who didn't stumble. We all stumble. that, I mean, to air is to be human, but I think that it's very easy to point a finger. But it's hard, and it's easy to say all of people's flaws.
Starting point is 00:54:54 But what good does she do? I know what good she did. Winnie Harlow is wearing the runways out. I have multiple businesses, organizations, things that I do. And despite what I've had to hurdle over, I mean, Carrie Washington had to hurdle over, and she didn't do top models. So I counted all joy.
Starting point is 00:55:14 I'm not, I don't live in the woes of yesterday. We all have our trauma. The beauty of me is that I've healed from mine. Have you talked to Tyra since the doc? Because she hasn't said anything. I haven't talked to her since the documentary. I went to lunch with Mr. Jay just the other day, and we chat it for a while. Yeah, I feel for everybody a part of the documentary because they don't know what life is like to live under scrutiny.
Starting point is 00:55:42 You know. I know. Y'all know. But most don't know that are in the early 2000s what it really feels like to get trolled daily. How's Mr. Jay holding up too?
Starting point is 00:55:54 Because now the conversation I saw a publicist, what's her name? Katrown. She made a statement and said basically like he does this every few years to try and get his name in the media and throw things Tyra's way in a negative way. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:56:08 And that's been a conversation about because how their friendship ended and like what are his intentions? Or is he just telling his story? Watching the documentary I learned about the friendship. I had absolutely no idea, per my understanding. These are, you know, like besties, like me and my best of he rock hard to the core.
Starting point is 00:56:27 So I had no idea about the severance, him wanting to leave and then staying and then kind of maybe feeling like he might be blackballed. Like that was all big news to me. I think it's sad. I'm a loyalist. I'm a Scorpio to the core. Unless you do something just absolutely egregious, we're going to rock this thing to the wills fall off.
Starting point is 00:56:50 And so to watch this all play out, he wrote a book called The Bitch to Model the Meltdown a while ago. It's a novel. And, I mean, his experience is his experience. I use the word gobsmacked because I... Gob smacked. She said she was gobsmacked. What the hell he's got smacked?
Starting point is 00:57:12 You know, Charlotte was so mad at you for saying golf smacked. Why? I'm like, I ain't ever heard you talk like that. It felt like you was on, what was it? CBS this morning? CBS morning. I'm like, why did she go on CBS this morning and coached with you a little bit? No, I didn't coach.
Starting point is 00:57:24 I was bamboozled. I was led astray. I was blue-and-stray. I said that first. Oh, you said that first? Yes. I'm sorry. I said all of those things.
Starting point is 00:57:33 Oh, okay. But you also have to realize, Charlevain. I went to school for speech communication. Speech is actually what I do. Vinacular is my thing. Got you. Girl, goff snacking then. I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:57:46 Crazy. On the Ricky Smiley Morning Show, they call me Silo Marceal. Like, I enjoy words. I enjoy syllables beyond monosyllabic English that we're used to. I think we as people have a way of being
Starting point is 00:58:00 extremely expressive and a lot of things we do. And I think that words should be one that we exercise more oftenly. So I was, I couldn't find a word beyond a curse word. I was in awe.
Starting point is 00:58:15 Because to find out that you were a part of a situation and had no clue, it was just, a bunch of hibble giggle. It was a bunch of hibble giggle. It was. And flabbergastry. And I was just, oh. Hibble gible? Hibble.
Starting point is 00:58:34 Yeah. Yeah, I was taking it back. You know, there's been a lot of conversation in recent years about reality, TV, and mental health. Like, when you look back, what did this show? get wrong, especially with young women. Oh, so many. How long do we have? Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:58:50 I think what we forget is that, A, we were all young. We were very, very young, and we were very impressionable. And though even Ken Mock says this show gave us a promise of a dream and of a career, I think there's somewhere inside of ourselves that we knew that that
Starting point is 00:59:08 wasn't really true. And not saying that that the business wasn't something that we could do, but there's just no way that all of us were going to end up being these huge big stars. And so I think that I prepare myself mentally early on. Like, if this doesn't work out, what do I do?
Starting point is 00:59:29 I wouldn't be gobsmacked. I was going back to college. But being brutally honest that bad, you know, because sometimes people need to hear honesty in a place where people are being truthful to them. Truthful and honesty. and hurt are all different things. And you always have that girlfriend
Starting point is 00:59:47 that's like, oh girl, I was just keeping it real. No, you were being very mean. Sometimes people need to hear that, though. Well, truth without compassion is cruel. It is. And I think that we make a great excuse to be honest while being extremely mean
Starting point is 01:00:01 and extremely hurtful. And so, Janice Dickinson, for an example, I won the show, and I remember after winning, she was like, thank God, now you can finally get your nose job. Jesus. And I quickly went to a mirror, didn't realize I had a nose issue at all. I knew that I was too short.
Starting point is 01:00:19 I knew I was androgynous. So they called me a man, woman, all these things. But now I... You know what I was so scared to cut my hair shorter and go blonde because they... When you came on the show, it was like your vibe was very like L.A., cool, like tomboyish. I mean, I'm still here in a suit. And like, that's just I have three brothers. That's how I get down.
Starting point is 01:00:40 So you felt away because that... That was your storyline on the show and they leaned into it and you were so confident on the show. I didn't know you felt away about them calling you those things. Dudes always thought you was fine. I didn't know I was malily attracted until I was a college. I was walking down the quad. Someone said, God damn. Shut up.
Starting point is 01:00:57 And I remember saying, is that a good thing or a bad thing? And he also said if I ate a little bit more, I'd be fine. Oh, you were in the house. Yeah. Yeah, but I didn't really have. have an idea of like what aesthetics were and what men were into and all that stuff until school. My confidence lied in the fact that I knew who I
Starting point is 01:01:20 was. My parents were very militant. The computer room was exactly that because we read Encyclope Breedia Britannica's every single day, book report every single day to be, to, I had the study to show myself approved like all the time.
Starting point is 01:01:36 Straight A's, Dean's List, scholarships, that was, that was me. So the no job thing, like that conversation so you took you looked in the mirror and then what happens following all the stuff like um i definitely had a mal complex about my nose um couldn't figure out i didn't see what was wrong so i didn't know what to make right which was the hardest part like you know like say if like your hair is cut but you got a little piece right here like you know you need to cut that piece yeah i didn't know what to do your hair is bombed don't listen to him he's a hater he's a hater you can grow hair so

Aquarius is all about freedom-loving and different perspectives.
Starting point is 01:03:09 And I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius are misunderstood. A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership. He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms, on different houses and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all. If you're navigating your own transformation or just want a chartside view into how a leading artist integrates astrology, creativity, and real life, this episode is a much. must listen. Listen to the Spirit Daughter podcast starting on February 24th on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast. Welcome to the A building. I'm Hans Charles. I'm Mnalec Lamouba. It's 1969. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. have both been assassinated, and Black America was out of breaking point. Writing and protests
Starting point is 01:04:01 broke out on an unprecedented scale. In Atlanta, Georgia at Martin's Almemata, Morehouse College, The students had their own protest. It featured two prominent figures in black history, Martin Luther King Sr. and a young student, Samuel L. Jackson. To be in what we really thought was a revolution. I mean, people would die. 1968, the murder of Dr. King, which traumatized everyone. The FBI had a role in the murder of a Black Panther leader in Chicago.
Starting point is 01:04:34 This story is about protest. It echoes in today's world. far more than it should, and it will blow your mind. Listen to the A-building on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What do you do in the headlines don't explain what's happening inside of you? I'm Ben Higgins, and if you can hear me, is where culture meets the soul, a place for real conversation. Each episode, I sit down with people from all walks of life, celebrities, thinkers, and everyday folks, And we go deeper than the polished story.
Starting point is 01:05:13 We talk about what drives us, what shapes us, and what gives us hope. We get honest about the big stuff, identity when you don't recognize yourself anymore, loss that changes you, purpose when success isn't enough, peace when your mind won't slow down, faith when it's complicated. Some guests have answers. Most are still figuring it out. If you've ever felt like there has to be more to the story, this show is for you. Listen to if you can hear me on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. China's Ministry of State Security is one of the most mysterious and powerful spy agencies in the world. But in 2017, the FBI got inside.
Starting point is 01:06:00 This is Special Agent Regal, Special Agent Bradley Hall. This MSS officer has no idea the U.S. government is on to him. But the FBI has his chats, texts, e-mail. even his personal diary. Hear how they got it on the Sixth Bureau podcast. I now have several terabytes of an MSS officer, no doubt, no question, of his life. And that's a unicorn.
Starting point is 01:06:26 No one had ever seen anything like that. It was unbelievable. This is a story of the inner workings of the MSS and how one man's ambition and mistakes opened its fault of secrets. Listen to the Sixth Bureau on the Eyeheart, Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Single is by choice, not by force.
Starting point is 01:06:49 I'm not single anymore. I don't know. That's right. Last time you were here, are we going to get into all that because you got some updates, too. We do have some updates, but we want to talk about getting pushed off this plane. Yeah. No, I really wanted to hear how you're... Remember, she got to go out a certain time too.
Starting point is 01:07:02 I'm sorry. Well, because they leaned into each other. You know, last time I was here, I was kind of giving you an update on love and where I was at. I was not in the most positive place, which is this is one of the one of. of the few stops I made because I knew that I would reach all my people and that you guys would handle me
Starting point is 01:07:18 with a nice glove. With kid gloves? She just said kid gloves. She just said nice gloves. A nice glove. No, I wasn't kid gloves. Y'all had a couple of little ones too. But, you know, I had Lauren over here,
Starting point is 01:07:28 so I knew I was straight. But this movie, it reminds me of a lot of spaces that a lot of us black women are in. The name of the movies, pushed off a plane and survived. So pushed off a plane and survive is about a woman named Jeney, who is in her,
Starting point is 01:07:42 late 30s, early 40s, serial entrepreneur, all about her business, all about her money. She owns three different hair salons. It does extremely well for herself. The one thing she has never focused on is love. So finally, you get
Starting point is 01:07:58 to that age and you're like late 30s, early 40s, you're like, maybe I want a man, maybe I want kids, maybe I want all these things. And so she goes on the dating gaps and all the stuff and she's trying to find love. And she meets a guy, Tyler Leppley. Cole.
Starting point is 01:08:13 Yes, Cole for this movie. And this is not Cole and I's first rendezvous. We did a film before called Buried Alive and Survived. So for whatever reason, I love being tortured by him. I do. Well, see, you know, that's the black woman in me.
Starting point is 01:08:28 That's right. We're going to survive. You're going to knock us down, but we're going to get up. And so get pushed off a plane. His weird hobby is that he likes skydiving. And instead of being a prude, I like pickleball.
Starting point is 01:08:40 So instead of playing pickleball, decide to skydive, which was the best and worst decision of my life. You have to tune into it on Saturday, February 28th on Lifetime, 8 p.m. 7th Central. It's going down. Tyler Leppley and I back in love again. But I feel like the movie
Starting point is 01:08:57 is a lesson about trusting someone too soon as an accomplished woman. Right? But see, the question truly is just when is too soon? Because there is one of my favorite scenes in the movie is he asks me to stand on this this this ledge
Starting point is 01:09:13 right fall backward and you ever seen that like that trust fall yes he like ain't no way I'm falling backward and we didn't have stunts we didn't have a pat down and I've worked with Tyler before I'm a little denser than I look so I think I'm a little heavier
Starting point is 01:09:28 and he caught me and it's that feeling of trust that letting go and knowing that someone has you and not because you can feel it but because you don't fall and I think I think that is what she's searching for, that high of jumping and not actually hitting the ground.
Starting point is 01:09:48 Can another person give you that? I was gonna say that, yeah. Do you have that with somebody? They can, you know, my wedding song was that. Lila James has a song, Catch Me, I'm Falling for You. And it speaks about, I'm ready, I'm about to jump. Now I need you down there, because I do not wanna fall, but I do wanna take this jump.
Starting point is 01:10:07 And so I think this is what this movie is about. And honestly, sometimes, sometimes you get it wrong and sometimes you get it right. But the biggest part that I took away from it is that most of the time you're going to get it wrong. 99% of the people you date, you will not be with forever. So get back on that horse.
Starting point is 01:10:26 Try it again. But what about the reverse psychology and all the tactics, the manipulation and all that's not your guy. If any of that stuff exists, that's not your person. I'm talking about Cole. I ain't trying to get a movie away, but I'm saying. No, but see, Cole, he, he, The flags were there.
Starting point is 01:10:42 Right. A lot of times the flags are there. You have the, you have Sage Council. Your home girl is like, friend, I am not feeling this. You know this is crazy. My sister in this movie, she knew it. Yeah. But she also was so close to me.
Starting point is 01:10:57 None of my relationships worked out. She used to bet on my dates. Like, this ain't going to work. Got $20. He's a, you know, he's a dud. So there's that too. You just have to believe in yourself. Trust your instincts.
Starting point is 01:11:10 and keep your friends close. Because when he doesn't work out, she will still be there. So where you are right now in life, in real life, it does parallel, because I know you and Mike got back together and y'all are together and that is your forever. We saw the, like you know.
Starting point is 01:11:24 Well, he will always be my forever, because we have children together. We have three amazing kids, and there is no life without him since we've had them. So we're always forever. I think that since the divorce and because I'm not very,
Starting point is 01:11:40 public and not a thirst trap kind of girl and you know don't throw a lot of pictures up there the world's wondering like what's going on and we are at a beautiful place I think the first time the world saw us together again was in essence I was down there hosting the main stage
Starting point is 01:11:56 and he was free and everybody was excited for you also because we love black love we love especially family unity you know Mike was adopted and so when it comes to what family looks like and what DNA looks like and titles,
Starting point is 01:12:12 we don't find ourselves too caught up on that. I think that that's what kind of hurt to begin with. Anybody that's dated for a long time, then got married, you realized things changed, but nothing really changed but the title. But now you feel the pressure to change things. All that stuff is gone. All that's gone.
Starting point is 01:12:27 And I am the beautiful mother of his amazing children. He is an amazing father to our children, and we have a great relationship. Real quick, what was the hardest thing about filming the movie? Because you had stunts and you had, you know, Okay, so the hardest thing about filming this film, and shout out to Lifetime, because Lifetime is not going to give you a little stage and make it pretty. They want to get as gritty as possible. So two scenes.
Starting point is 01:12:52 One, my drowning scene, because you can't fake drown. Yeah. So you have to really drown. So the drowning scene was absolutely insane. And then being pushed off of the plane and the falling and the debris. and being under, oh my goodness. Especially. No, it was real deal.
Starting point is 01:13:14 No, no, no. He mean the preview that they sent us, the green screen is still in it. There's one split second with a green screen is still in it. Oh, it won't be. On Friday, don't worry. On February to 28 on Saturday. He's making sure they can't get you.
Starting point is 01:13:26 So what happened, Charlemagne the guy, you happen to have the luxury of getting the screener prior to. So there are certain BFX, and if you could appreciate the writer's strike that we just, have. There's a lot of AI and VFX that go into production now. So you got to see
Starting point is 01:13:44 some of the first cut. And the world will see the final cut on February the 28th on this good Saturday. Get your popcorn. Get your girls. Grab your friends, whatever your drink or non-drink of choice is. Get ready. That's why you ain't worried about doing press right now because she won't get through those questions and get to what she's going to get to. Well, definitely check it out. Even the star. Pushed off a place. Yes. She said earlier. Like when, when, you're not. the producers of America
Starting point is 01:14:11 next time, but I don't know what they were doing. And that's why I said you can't stop a star from being a star regardless of what the platform is that, you know, causes them to break in.
Starting point is 01:14:18 Well, take one to no one. Well, thank you, man. Phampen, I see you out here. I appreciate you. Congratulations. Thank you very much. Oh, you saw the 200 million. Oh, shut up, yo.
Starting point is 01:14:27 Period. Jesus. I love a grand world brother. Don't do that. Don't do that. And don't be quiet just because he told you to. No, because I got out what I need to get out.
Starting point is 01:14:38 And he mad now. so it's fine. And I'm never quiet when you tell me too. It looked just like his happy face. He's just angry. Jesus Christ. Even Marcel, ladies and gentlemen.
Starting point is 01:14:46 Cunning myself down. I'm being myself. I'm the home guy that knows a little bit about everything and everything. One. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that.
Starting point is 01:14:59 Take me through that. Where is you going? The latest with Marla knows. Take me through that. On the breakfast club. L.L. Coulbe. Talk to me. Before we start the hour, I wanted to update.
Starting point is 01:15:13 So last latest, I mentioned, Chris Bosch wrote about his experience in his book, but he actually wrote about it on his substack. He still doesn't tell you what happened to him, like what the cause was, but that's on his substack, which he has linked on his Instagram. Gotcha. So I wanted to update that there. Okay, so let's get into Lamar Odom. So Lamar Odom sat down with Tracy McGready and Vince Carter on their cousins podcast,
Starting point is 01:15:35 and they're having a conversation about, like, his journey and basketball. but also about his addiction or previous addictions which Lamar Odom is very open about and he says he loving drugs messed up his career let's take a listen to Lamar Odom. Keep it real with you. I love I love drugs. You're talking to a real addict. Hard drugs. I mean, yeah, I want sniff cocaine. If I ain't got to play ball, I mean, I don't have no responsibility. Did you do drugs while you were playing? No. This was summertime I did though. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't front. So not during the season. No. I had some great cocaine summers, though. You know, if you get caught for sniffing cocaine, that's the spender's going to be crazy.
Starting point is 01:16:12 You think that had an effect on your overall, how good I could be? Yeah, yeah, 100%. I should be where y'all at in the fame. No-b-you-fell. You feel what I'm saying? Just off a straight talent. I had people come to me before I made it to the NBA.
Starting point is 01:16:26 Listen, bro. And I was like a 13-year-old. Like, yo, you're a Hall of Fame. I respect Lamar Odom so much. The reason I respect Lamar Odom so much because smart people learn from their own mistakes, wise people learn from the mistakes of others. He is so open about all.
Starting point is 01:16:39 all his hurdles that he had to overcome in life. He's so open about his drug use. He's so open about how it impacted him. You can learn so much just listening from all autumn. You can learn what not to do. That's what I'm going to learn from himself, though. That's the main thing. I think he's trying.
Starting point is 01:16:53 I mean, he's not. Yeah. Yeah, I think addiction is something that, you know, you've got to continue to, like, work on physically by doing things like rehab. And remember he had checked into that rehab program, I just saw a report that he had checked out after 30 days. And the reason why he even checked in is because he just wanted to make sure he was sitting on the path he needed to be on after the
Starting point is 01:17:10 whole DUI situation. And by the way, if you beat crack, you're right. If you, as long as you ain't smoking the crack no more and leaving the Coke alone, okay, we don't want you having a drink catching DUIs either. But if you can, if you're beating the hard stuff, you got to give him some points. But there's always a possibility that he can
Starting point is 01:17:26 go back, right? Because they always say the smaller stuff is a gateway to the biggest. I never smoke crack. I've never had no type of drugs. No cocaine, none of that. Nope. Knob. Nose is clear. What was that? I get what you're saying, though, you know, you hope you learn from himself
Starting point is 01:17:44 because he was reminiscent. Like, it sounded like he was, you know what I'm saying? Like, he missed it a little bit, you know, like he was liking it a little bit because he did say I had some pretty good Coke summers. And we ain't never did it. Oh, I smoked Coke once in a blunt with some weed, but I didn't know it. I ain't know it, but I might do it again by accident. But listen to me.
Starting point is 01:18:02 What? I'm playing. But we've never smoked crack, so we don't know. When he described it, it might make his mouth water. How you know, there ain't nobody ever smoked crack? I haven't. Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, I wanted you to confirm.
Starting point is 01:18:13 What? Well, I mean, I do want to mention him going to that rehab center is also leading it to him doing some work where it's going to help other people. So Lamar is starting to work on a company now called helio.com. And it's an AI-powered nationwide search platform that is designed to connect people to every type of wellness and treatment center in the country. So he's been trying to figure that out as well, too, helping other people because he knows the journey isn't like linear. It's something that you got to keep doing. Drop one of clues bonds, Lambs. all with him. Keep telling your story.
Starting point is 01:18:39 Okay, because him telling his story is going to help so many other people. I love the way he's telling you, but I just want to make sure he's okay. Like, I don't want to see another D-U-I. I don't want to see another problem, another issue. I love the fact that he tells the story, but I just want to make sure he gets to help that he needs because we need that rub around. I get you. Well, and a real quick update before we wrap
Starting point is 01:18:55 up the hour. So remember that Hunter College Professor Allison Friedman that you gave Dunkia the day to for the racist remarks that she made on that Zoom call? Hell yeah. So there has been a little update here. So there was a letter posted to the college's website from the president and professor of the psychology department
Starting point is 01:19:11 that let people know that they have after their investigation they are now placing Allison on leave. Now they don't specify whether it's a paid leave or not. Definitely paid. But they say that they're placing her on leave and they stated as I shared earlier their investigating this matter under
Starting point is 01:19:26 the university's applicable conduct and non-discrimination policies and how ironic that this is happening during Black History Month and this call was to talk about that. Black History month in anti-black, systematic racism and education. You better blame it on corporate what's that thing?
Starting point is 01:19:42 Cropa-A-L-A. Brad, you got it. You know I ain't going to get it. You should blame it on corporate L-A or crack. Corporal L-A-R crack. I think people, I think if we understood that more people were on cocaine, then we would have a little bit more grace. A lot more people don't be saying that a lot of people don't talk about their
Starting point is 01:20:00 cocaine use. Yeah, but they're on it for a reason. I mean, no, they, if you want cocaine, You're taking it because you want to take it. So this is the act. When you hear stories like this woman, Allison, you're like, what the hell was wrong with her? She didn't know she wasn't on mute talking all crazy like that. She probably was high as hell. But she shouldn't have did that and got on Zoom.
Starting point is 01:20:20 That's what I'm saying. You got to know when to take the Coke. Like, I, you have to know what I would. I'm saying, I wouldn't take the Coke before I had a Zoom. Okay, let me give you a bad example. I come in here and I know just be high. So I expect just to say high things and do high stuff. Marijuana high.
Starting point is 01:20:36 Yeah. Yeah, don't put it out there like that, Charlotte, because the niggas go. Right, yeah, because you may, yeah. Why are you going to throw it stands up like, I don't know. Yeah, you can't just go from crack to Coke to Jess. Like, you can't do that. Point it when you know that somebody's high,
Starting point is 01:20:48 you deal with them accordingly. Or when you know somebody got an ailment, you deal with them accordingly. I thought Coke was a party drug. I think you took that with you party. That's how they do it in L.A. I don't know. I know crack is fried cocaine because, you know,
Starting point is 01:21:00 black people, we love to fry things. So somebody at one point decided to fry, fries with coke. And here came this nice piece. a rock. Jesus Christ. That's the latest with Lauren. That's actually funny,
Starting point is 01:21:12 some deep fried Coke. That's what it is. Deep fried Coke is this crack. That's crazy. Who are you giving your dogs to do, man? Man, I need Bill Gates to come to the front of the congregation because I've been thinking about this story all morning. This man is worth $107 billion
Starting point is 01:21:24 and he just confessed that he cheated with two Russian women. We got to discuss. Okay? We have to discuss. All right. And then after, like that. I'm just, you know, never know.
Starting point is 01:21:36 Right. Just fix my mess. If you need relationship advice to any type of advice, you can get on the phone lines right now. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Don't be out here acting like a donkey. Hi, bitch. He-ha. It's time for donkey of the day.
Starting point is 01:21:48 I'm a big boy I can take it if he feel I deserve it. It ain't no big deal. I know Charlamini guy going to have some funny shit. Say out of this mouth. It's got to say something you may not agree with. It doesn't mean I mean. Who's getting that donkey? That donkey.
Starting point is 01:21:58 That donkey. Donkey of the day. Right here. The breakfast club, bitch. The breakfast club, bitches. You can call me the donkey of the day, but like, I mean no harm. Donkey of the day for Thursday, February 26, goes to one of the most financially wealthy men walking God's green earth, and that is William Henry Gates III, commonly known as Bill.
Starting point is 01:22:22 Yes, Bill Gates. Bill is worth like $107 billion, okay? But he has proven that he's just as basic as the rest of us, all right? No matter how smart, how rich you are, you are not immune from bad judgment and a love of boom boom. Okay, Bill has been having a rough few weeks. All right, ever since his name popped up in the Epstein Files now, a couple of weeks ago, my guy Andrew Schultz, you know, I do the brilliant of this podcast with my man Andrew Shultz. He said something about Bill Gates being in the Epstein Files that stuck with me.
Starting point is 01:22:50 He said, who are they trying to protect that they would give up Bill Gates in the first round of Epstein Files releases? They didn't waste no time letting Bill Gates' Epstein Files fly. all the other names that were redacted. Why not the name of one of the world's wealthiest men? Well, there really might be something to that because Bill is doing what we call throwing yourself on the mercy of the court because this week Bill decided to apologize to his staff
Starting point is 01:23:17 for his history with Jeffrey Epstein and he admitted to having not one but two affairs with Russian women while married to Melinda Gates. Let's go to ABC News for the report, please. Tonight, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates revealing more damaging information about his personal life and admitting to a series of stunning lapses in judgment in building a relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Starting point is 01:23:41 Today the fallout growing as Gates was pressed by employees in the Gates Foundation Town Hall. He acknowledged that his relationship with Epstein began after Epstein was convicted of soliciting a minor. And he claimed that he, one of the wealthiest men in the world, did not properly research Epstein's background that would have revealed his sort of past. Knowing what I know now makes it, you know, a hundred times worse. Gase acknowledged his association probably helped Epstein rehabilitate his image, and he revealed other damning specifics, saying the men flew together on a private jet and that they hung out in Germany, France, New York, and Washington. Gates did acknowledge he had affairs with two Russian women, and Gates also addressed these photos, saying there were pictures Epstein
Starting point is 01:24:27 asked him to take with his assistance. This story is hilarious to me. Okay, first of all, black men don't cheat, but wealthy white ones do. And this wealthy white one said, I did some cheating. Okay, this is what Bill Gates said. I did some cheating.
Starting point is 01:24:40 But don't worry, it wasn't illicit. Illicit. Okay, the pure Webster's dictionary, Webster's dictionary definition of elicit is forbidden by law rules or customs. Bill, you was married. Okay, cheating on your wife is technically illegal in several states. Now it's usually not enforced, but adultery is actually classified as a felony
Starting point is 01:25:01 in some states. In New York, did you know, adultery is classified as a Class B misdemeanor that is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine, but beyond the criminal aspect of it, cheating on your wife is considered illicit because it violates the fundamental mutually agreed upon vows that we make. Okay, we talk about exclusivity, we talk about trust, we talk about fidelity. Cheating is illicit, okay? It is deemed. socially morally and often religiously forbidden. It disrupts the foundation of the family structure. And that's why I usually leaves the divorce.
Starting point is 01:25:35 Because I can't trust you. All right. Now we know why Bill and Melinda got divorced because Bill was out here cheating. But it wasn't illicit. Okay. My brother's all cheating is illicit. Unless, of course, you and your wife have an understanding. And that's what I don't get.
Starting point is 01:25:50 You know, Bill, why didn't you just tell your wife you wanted to see other women? Right? You worth $107 billion. you never know what you put on the table, you know, that she might be okay with, all right? From what I saw you confessed to, they weren't underage girls. Bill acknowledged that he had affairs with a Russian bridge player who he met at bridge events and one with a nuclear physicist who he met through business activities. What the hell were they doing at this town hall?
Starting point is 01:26:18 Were they playing true for their, okay? Bill, why were you confessing this to your foundation like it was some sort of corporate performance review and why did you admit the cheating on your spouse with named nationalities and career descriptions? You said this like you was listing your business accomplishments. Russian women bridge player. Russian woman nuclear physicists. Bill like don't play with me.
Starting point is 01:26:43 I wasn't out here soliciting horse. Okay. He would never. That would be illicit. He was out here giving that Microsoft penis to a bridge player and he was giving that little rocket to a nuclear physicist. But it wasn't elicit. Okay, word of advice.
Starting point is 01:26:57 If you're going to confess, just confess and say, I'm sorry. Okay, don't tell me you did something wrong, but it wasn't that wrong, all right? Saying I did some cheating, but don't worry, it wasn't illicit. It's like saying you robbed the bank ethically, okay? Because even if you robbed the bank to feed a bunch of starving kids, I might understand, but you still committed a crime. Right, not to mention, saying hanging with Jeffrey Epstein was a mistake. A typo was a mistake. Okay, hanging with Jeffrey Epstein could be considered a felony adjacent lifestyle choice.
Starting point is 01:27:24 All right. This whole story is just a reminder that money doesn't buy morals. It just buys better lawyers and BS explanations. By the way, explanations that we don't even need. I want to know what do they have on Bill Gates that he is feeling the need to confess these things and get in front of these things because he's the only one doing it. Okay, at least here in America, there's been some powerful people who have resigned from their jobs. Like I read this morning that Larry Summers, former Treasury Secretary, he resigned from Harvard, Richard Axel. a Nobel Prize winning professor at Columbia University. He announced he was stepping down as co-director of the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute because of his connection to Epstein, but they're not confessing to any illicit behavior that we've seen yet. So why is Bill Gates,
Starting point is 01:28:10 who's worth $107 billion deciding to fall on this ward? Inquiring minds would like to know. Also, Bill Gates, and this is the moral to the story for everyone, are you apologizing or justifying your behavior? because the sincere apology requires taking full ownership of your actions without using but our excuses are telling people you did something but it wasn't illicit okay justifications invalidate the apology just focus on acknowledging the impact of your actions okay showing empathy and committing to change all right the only time i care about justifications for bad behavior
Starting point is 01:28:45 is if you're going to tell me you was on crack okay other than that keep it to yourself Please give William Henry Gates the third, commonly known as Bill Gates, the biggest he-ha. Talk about it was a lapse in judgment. No, you wanted some other cheeks. I just don't understand why that man can't say he wanted some other cheeks. Sit down with your wife and have the conversation. The desire is that strong. If you need to do it that bad, just go telling you this is what you want to do.
Starting point is 01:29:18 Have a discussion about it. Ain't look like it's roster cool, though. Bridge player, nuclear physicists. I got to see him. I got to see him. No, no, no, no. It looked good on paper, but I got to see him. Yeah, but that's what he said.
Starting point is 01:29:29 It looked good for him on paper. Bridge player sounds dumb old. It sounds what? Dumb old. A bridge is a card game. It's a car game. It's a car game. It's a car.

Starting point is 01:33:11 In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief. A nurse who should have been in charge of course. caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history. Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict, a villain, a nurse named Lucy Leppi. Lucy Letby has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story? The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses. I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast doubt the case of Lucy Lettby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it to ask what really
Starting point is 01:33:53 happened when the world decided who Lucy Lettby was. No voicing of any skepticism or doubt. It'll cause so much harm at every single level of the British establishment of this is wrong. Listen to doubt the case of Lucy Lettby
Starting point is 01:34:09 on the IHartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Our game. Yes. I thought it was an instrument. A bridge player, a Russian bridge player that's not like somebody in a band. This is why I'd be wanting to know if people on crack.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Just let it go. No, you don't understand what I'm saying? I need to know if people are high. That's all I need to know. Not off no crack. So you didn't, you didn't. No, yo, for real. Bridge player. What's bridge? A car game? I know what I'm saying, though. I've never heard that. You know, like when people play a bridge. Yeah, like, oh yeah, no, that's okay. A guitar? For real. Yeah, I'm sorry. You thought a guitar was a bridge. I just thought she only played bridges and songs.
Starting point is 01:34:53 She's the bridge player. She plays the bridge. Just a new challenge. Okay. Oh, yeah, you're some clowned out niggas now. That's crazy. All right, I'm coming up next. I'm ready to fix somebody mess, y'all.
Starting point is 01:35:05 So call up 1-800-5-108-5. That is not the number. That was the number. 105-1. 800-585-105-1. Just fix my mess. If you have relationship issues or maybe you have an issue playing bridge, whatever it may be.
Starting point is 01:35:19 Call up right now. Is it crack? No, it's not. Shut up. It's a breakfast clock. Good morning. Help me. Tell us.
Starting point is 01:35:26 Man. It's the real deal. Help me. Help me. Oh, my God. I'm all up in your mess. I'm going to fix it. Fix it.
Starting point is 01:35:35 Fix it. Just going to fix your mess because my advice is real. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jess hilarious. Sholamine the guy. We are the breakfast club. It's time for Jess fix my mess.
Starting point is 01:35:45 What's your question for Jess? Good morning. Hi, Jess. Good morning. My name is Keira. am from Aiken, South Carolina. And I wanted to call, I am a new mom for a five-month-old baby.
Starting point is 01:35:57 Congratulations. And me and the dad, thank you. Thank you. Me and the dad, one of the baby was three months. We recently split up. It was kind of a shock because we were, in my opinion, we never had really had any problems. We were like a power couple.
Starting point is 01:36:13 We did business together. We were ready to get married. And then at three months, I found out he was severely cheating on me throughout my entire pregnancy, my postpartum, sleeping with different women. After I found out, we still lived in the same house, but I figured he was still doing the same stuff. It's like he didn't care. It just was a shock out of nowhere.
Starting point is 01:36:37 I come from a two-parent household. My grandparents have always been married, and I had no idea how to navigate this single motherhood. I tried intentionally not be a single mom. but I am. How do I raise a little boy? Are you, are you just living by yourself?
Starting point is 01:36:56 Or, you know, because you said y'all live together. You still living with him? No, we recently split about a month ago. He moved into his own apartment, and I bought my first house. Yeah. And you're just trying to figure out
Starting point is 01:37:08 how to do it by yourself. How to do it by myself? I don't come from single parents. I got you. Are your parents still around or still, you know? Yes, they're a great support system. They're a great support. yeah that's what I was that's what I was getting to okay so as long as you have a village you know it
Starting point is 01:37:24 will get easier but you know I'm sorry I'm I apologize about you know your unfortunate situation with your son's dad but yeah you you have to you got it's on you and your village now you know like you yeah you have a you work what's your schedule like what do you need help with like what specifically do you need help with um well that's the thing I'm a realtor and um I also do some flipping houses and things for my schedule is super busy. But sometimes I feel like I can't give my child the
Starting point is 01:37:57 full I give them attention but I can't give them the full what I want, you know what I'm saying? And then also having to he goes with his dad sometimes it's just not the ideal parenthood that I wanted.
Starting point is 01:38:13 Okay, so it's not really that you need help parenting. You're still trying to get over not being a family. with your son's dad because this is not what you plan for. That's just what that sounds like. You know, because you sound like you're a great mom. You know, you work.
Starting point is 01:38:27 You do have a village. Your parents help you out. You're very busy. So, no, you can be with your child 24-7, but no parent, you know, with some exceptions, can be around their children 24-7. It just sounds like, you know, you're going through the motions. And it's not going to be easy getting past that because you found out not only was he cheating on you, you know, when the baby was here, he was cheating on you while you were
Starting point is 01:38:48 pregnant. So that's a lot of hurt to get over, but time is going to have to deal with that. You know, time is the only way to get through that, you know? I'm sorry. Even after the baby came out, he's super apologetic and he wants to be a family again and do this, but I don't want that, this. I want, I don't want that, but I do want a family, I want my son to have both parents. So it's just really confusing. Yeah, it's confusing. And I understand you do want that, but don't allow yourself to fall. for, you know, to fall back into that trap again just because he's showing that he wants you now. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:39:25 He probably had time to reflect on whatever he did and, you know, things like that. But still, you took him back before and he did the same thing again, you know? Right. I know you want your family, but you can't, you can't force it out of desperation. You know what I mean? Just to have it. No. No.
Starting point is 01:39:42 Thank you so much. I'm excited for your book. I'm ready. I'm excited for you to get it. I got my countdown. Yes. I'm excited for you to get it. You just.
Starting point is 01:39:48 going through the motions, but I promise you, you will get over it. The book is still deaf, do we parents, so make sure you pre-order now. You can do it right on my website. Jess O'Larious Official. I will. Thank you, babe. Thank you so much. No problem. That's right. And to be in store there for 28th, too. That's right. Just fixed my mess. Thank you. We're in the middle of just fix
Starting point is 01:40:06 my mess. Hello, who's this? Hey, this is Casey from Detroit. Casey, you ain't got to yell, brother. You ain't got to yell. You ain't got to yell. We can hear you, brother. Sorry, I'm just having a very loud personality and voice. But shout out to you guys. You guys are amazing. I love you guys so much.
Starting point is 01:40:21 Every day I watch you guys. I also want to say salute to Shalemang. Love you, man. You know, what this community needs, and we need more people who like you out here. Love you, brother. Thank you, man. What's your question for jazz, bro?
Starting point is 01:40:33 So I actually just last night actually got a message from one of my old homies. She's around the same age group as I am. I'm 25. I currently do a YouTube channel where I just do recording and stuff, but I actually love doing it. I've been doing it for years. So she and I met around 20, 25. She's around the same age as I am,
Starting point is 01:40:54 one age group. So we met on playing video games on like Discord and everything. And she was really sweet. She stood up for me a lot of times. And we became very close friends. We became hit it off really easily. Did we get into a couple arguments? Yeah, but like it was nothing like disrespectful.
Starting point is 01:41:11 We all were cool at first. But what happened was a situation is when a homie or some weird old dude, after three days knowing her was acting really weird and I stood up for her. I basically got kicked out of a group of like millions of people for her. And then after that,
Starting point is 01:41:28 after doing that, because I showed my loyalty that I was willing to have her bag, she switched up on me and she started acting crazy. Like she was mad, toxic, overly aggressive, was just overly complaining and everything.
Starting point is 01:41:40 And after a point, I was just like, I'm done. I just could not have the way. And looking back on it, definitely, I definitely seen the red flags coming from a mile
Starting point is 01:41:48 way and I feel like I should have left sooner. I really should have left sooner. And I think the problem was she hung around the wrong people. Like, she had some really bad friends. She was going to go to a shit with and I just really did not agree with those friends and I didn't personally mess with them at all.
Starting point is 01:42:04 So she recently hit up and I said, tried to talk about. She was sorry. She took accountability and she wanted to be friends and I don't know what I want to do. Because I've forgiven her spiritually, but I'm not sure if I want to be a friend again because that's the last I want to do is things to go back the way it was.
Starting point is 01:42:21 Yeah, I totally do understand. People hang out, you know, people get mixed up with the wrong people and they, you know, they're influenced by certain people that they hang around, but maybe something happened where she realized like, nah, maybe I am. Maybe she finally realized that she was hanging around with the wrong people and being influenced by, you know, some of their behaviors and she realized that she lost a good friend. I mean, y'all, y'all weren't together, right? Y'all were just friends, but y'all weren't in relationships.
Starting point is 01:42:47 Yeah, we're just friends. dating anything. I mean, at one point they didn't have a crush on her, but like her and shit. Ain't no more. Okay. Don't say it like that because you do like a little bit. I can tell still. Well, a little bit, but like, you know what I'm saying? Like, I'm glad
Starting point is 01:43:03 to be single. I wouldn't, listen, I got to say single for my mental health. I got you. I got you. No, I hear that. I hear that brother. But no, I think, yeah, I think, just give us some grace. Because she, like I said, she may have realized like, you know what? I lost out on a good friend.
Starting point is 01:43:18 you know, being a clown. You know what I'm saying? So, and she learned from that experience. There's nothing wrong with giving her a chance. Now, you approach the situation, you know, with a little guard up, you know, but, and then, you know, just gain her trust. If she going to do what she need to do to gain your trust back, I wouldn't say, you know, good friends are hard to come by, yo.
Starting point is 01:43:36 So don't, don't throw it away. Just give her, you know, give her a little chance. She hit you up. You like that you had a little crush. See what's up with it. Yeah. I definitely would be a big thing that does help because I definitely had other homies too who've done similar experiences and if this was some other person
Starting point is 01:43:53 that I know about I thought it would have been a hard note I actually did a hard know to somebody else because I know this person I know they're not going to be turning around so yeah they definitely definitely yeah definitely you know just just approach with caution but give her another chance it's cool okay thank you so much no problem have a good one thank you you fix my mess 800 585 105 one when we come back we got the latest with Lauren don't move it's Breakfast Club. Good morning. I want to hear nothing from you after what I just heard from you. You need to shut up.
Starting point is 01:44:24 Okay. Maybe get freaky. I do not get freaky. That's actually disgusting. No, it's not. There was a brother on the chat from Korea. And Korean facial regimen is the new thing now. With the moisture.
Starting point is 01:44:39 That's what you're saying, bro. So I asked him, I said, what's a good facial reginal in Korea? I didn't say facial. I said facial regimen that people are using in Korea. He said all the brothers out there. What's the best thing to put on your face? Yes, that's what he said. You know what?
Starting point is 01:44:52 Just get to the latest one. I didn't say that. One of the street thing. She gets them from somebody that knows somebody. She gets the details. I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything. She'd be having the latest on this. The latest with Lauren La Rosa.
Starting point is 01:45:08 Sometimes you have facts. Sometimes you have details. Sometimes you have a little bit everything. Well, it's the latest. Brought to you by Top Dog Law. On the Breakfast Club. Talk to me. L.L. Cube.
Starting point is 01:45:18 Hey, y'all. What's up, Ray? Not what's up, right. So the NAACP Image Awards, they are continuing to do their pre-ceremony live stream special awards that they're giving out prior to the actual award ceremony on television this weekend.
Starting point is 01:45:32 And on night three, last night, they gave Malcolm Jamal Warner an award following his passing. But the award was for outstanding guest performance for Fox's Drama Series, murder in a small town, among various highlights that they gave out last. night. They also gave some awards
Starting point is 01:45:50 to sinners as well. But I just want to take a moment to mention that. And I know a lot of outlets are reporting this just in remembrance of Malcolm Jamal Warner. So I'm sure we'll see some of that in the award show that goes down this weekend as well, too, on the 28th. That's a piece to Michael Jamal. Yeah, on VET.
Starting point is 01:46:06 Tending energy to his family all ways. Lord have mercy. Yes. Now, just shifting gears a bit. I want to talk about something really quick that I-Heart is going to be doing So this is an industry first. And I know we talk a lot up here about how like, or I know, I have a lot of conversations about radio and the position that radio plays in like music and new music versus social media. So Iheart Radio, TikTok Live and Bruno Mars are coming together tonight.
Starting point is 01:46:34 And they'll be doing a live where people will be able to get love advice, submit their love stories and get personalized song dedication from Bruno Mars because he has a new album coming out called the Romantic album. this will happen tonight at 9 p.m. Yeah, so you'll be able to come and get some love advice. What's Bruno's qualifications? Is there any relationship? I don't know, Bruno Mark. I just need to know his qualifications. I'm sure we'll find out tonight.
Starting point is 01:46:58 I might need to submit some questions. That's my first question. What the hell is your qualifications? And you can go to the talkback feature, actually. If you want to go to the talkback feature, which is on iHeartredo. Correct? And you can submit your questions and you can do all that other stuff. And that's a first.
Starting point is 01:47:12 So tonight, Bruno Mars, TikTok with Iheart, which is going to be pretty dope. I want to know. According to a lot of the reports, he's not married, but he has been in a relationship. But I don't know where it is today, but they've been in a relationship for like over a decade. It's a woman named Jessica Caban. Really?
Starting point is 01:47:26 According to reports. Okay. I mean, because you write just the way you are, I don't mean you can be out here giving a romantic advice. So that's my first question. All right. Then my second question is, when are you going to marry your woman?
Starting point is 01:47:36 Damn. You can't ask. They don't block you immediately. Right. Immediately. No, I'm going to have my name. Oh, wait. I'm seeing that there breakup rumors, too, with them.
Starting point is 01:47:46 February 1st, 2020. Listen, just go talk to tonight. Bruno Mars on I-Hawks, TikTok. Definitely check it out. Continue on. Yes, all right. Now, in other music news, you shouldn't ask.
Starting point is 01:47:58 I always go find an answer. Just keep going. And other music news, shifting gears again. So Teddy Riley, he was here on the breakfast club when we talked about this too. But he sat down with the We're in Miami podcast and talked about his book and some of his stories that he's telling
Starting point is 01:48:12 in his new book. And one of the conversations that they've posted the full interview wasn't out as of last night was a conversation about Keith Sweat and Teddy Riley says he was not paid at all for the music he did with Keith Sweat let's take a listen. Keep sweating myself do you know I never got paid for the album
Starting point is 01:48:27 That's crazy My name is on there right? Yeah So somebody gonna pay Still to this day you never got paid Never made it or two All I got was 15 dollars What happened like did like did? Like did you holl at him like yo with my check
Starting point is 01:48:40 I did and he told me he never got paid neither Which I find it hard to believe He never told the truth about me. How we worked in the studio and what I came up with. You know, it's so crazy. The first 100, maybe 200,000 records of his album, my name wasn't on the album. When you trust in a person who calls you their little brother, trust no one, trust no one. Nah, that's real.
Starting point is 01:49:04 And get your business and stand on it. Did your relationship kind of deteriorate? No. Still my brother. I'm a forgiving child of God. I feel like Keith's just still like, yo, man. No. It's one of brothers.
Starting point is 01:49:15 first of all I love when you dive in the unc news thank you very much you're welcome I try to get to the cock the hat the way you wear the hat to side
Starting point is 01:49:24 I feel like we've had this conversation with Keith and Teddy though yeah Teddy was up in and spoke about this and in that conversation it seems like he was mad at at Keith Sweat
Starting point is 01:49:33 but then he said it wasn't Keith Sweat's fault it was the label's fault but he definitely seemed like he was a little upset with Keith about it I have Teddy Riley on a breakfast club if you guys want to listen to it
Starting point is 01:49:40 he does kind of say the same thing but to your point envy this is a different tone and you guys want to listen to that Sure. Let's take a listen to Teddy on a breakfast club. Absolutely. A lot of my business wasn't done. You know, example, I did the key sweat album.
Starting point is 01:49:51 I've only made $1,500 from that. To this day. Jesus. But I got the publishing, but I never got my royalties. No one never looked out for me. So now we're going through different channels because you can't, you know, have a person's name on the album and as a producer and not have a contract. Wow. Thank God I know the business now.
Starting point is 01:50:13 Yeah, so I don't know what it's progressed But the tone did seem a bit different I did try and reach out to Keith Sweat Two didn't hear anything back so I feel like that money gone I feel like that money gone That's like 40, 50 years right But if the record label has it
Starting point is 01:50:29 The regular label still has the responsibility That money has been spending a long time ago That label's a billion dollar company I'm sure they can find it from somewhere legally they're going to have to if he is in good They don't order it and find out yeah I mean now if it's Keith and them that's something different but if the label got it
Starting point is 01:50:43 but Keith said he didn't get paid either so wasn't it the brother who passed away I can't remember his name I don't know He ain't take it with him So I'd be spitting I think it's gone
Starting point is 01:50:56 Somebody in the air man All right I'm gonna go I don't know The full interview is still not out on the podcast I looked on we're in Miami So I'll wait to hear back And hopefully we hear back from Keith Sweat too
Starting point is 01:51:06 for that update And we'll be back with more in another latest Shout out the We in Miami Podcast I like them I listen to this stuff all the time. He had it really consistent. Now, another conversation, Imman Shumper, he sat down with Shannon Sharp on Club Shayshay.
Starting point is 01:51:21 And they had a very in-depth conversation. But one, a big part of the conversation is going viral picking up right now is Iman talking about his father who passed away not too long ago. And he could barely get through the conversation, which was at the beginning of the conversation when this was brought up. Let's take a listen to Yoman talking about the last conversation he had with his dad.
Starting point is 01:51:40 Do you remember the last conversation you had with your father? Yeah, he was My bad dog He liked when I Like when I wear a shirt and tie and stuff He always got dressed for the office Every day He would wear a shirt
Starting point is 01:51:55 And shirt and tie Last combo he just was like Man, you look good And them suits man I like that you take your jobs Now that you're wearing that suit And then he told me don't come home Finish filming
Starting point is 01:52:08 Because we was filming the podcast He got to go in the hospital he'd be right back. Did you know your father was that sick? I mean, I knew he had to go in the hospital. I thought he just had some, like, you know, people get older. Yeah. Yeah, if he was here, I'd probably just hug him.
Starting point is 01:52:24 I'd probably just hug him. I was sitting there like a little kid. Man, sad, man. Rest and peace his father. His dad passed away. He had announced that his dad passed away back in October of 2025. Now, we have to wrap up. I don't have time to play another audio from that.
Starting point is 01:52:40 Yeah, go. Okay. I just wanted to play this one on Imman talking about being a father because he talked a lot about how his dad shaped who he is today Who he is as a dad and he says without his dad we wouldn't even be talking to him now and just talks about how much of a positive role model he was Let's take a listen to him on being a father Luckily my my ex is not it's not like a war or nothing anymore Like we can talk to the kids or whatever I think the part that I could appreciate the most is that my big girl she she knows the weight of it
Starting point is 01:53:08 That's Junie Junie Jr though Junie Jr will be like all I'm like, she, she knows like, I'm trying to make sure I still check in. Like, I ain't talked to dad in a couple days. So she, like, check in. And she wants to show the phone, the rule. But she, like, tries to stay on schedule. So it's like her making an effort. That's what took so long.
Starting point is 01:53:25 Like, that was the process, the whole shebang of, you know what I'm saying, having to separate. That was what the biggest hurt was. We're not going to have our kids on a day to day. Like, I know how much it. I benefit having my dad come home and say, why this ain't clean? Man, adulting is so hard, man And you know why adulting is, it's several reasons why adulting is so hard
Starting point is 01:53:47 because you think about all the different layers of this conversation, right? He's a father who just lost his father, right? And so he's thinking about not being there with his kids on a day-to-day basis, but when you lose a parent, you start questioning I'm sure your own mortality as well and you just start thinking, man, I just want to be here
Starting point is 01:54:03 for as long as possible to be here, you know, with my kids. Because that's really what it's about, right? It's all about presence at the end of the day. Yeah, presence. Like he misses his time. the presence of his father, you know, he wants to be here to be in the presence of his kids.
Starting point is 01:54:15 That's all we constantly think about, just being here. I want to be here, and I want the people I love to be here. But guess what? That's just not the reality. Eventually, all of this comes to an end at something. That's my worst fear. Well, salute to my father. I love that.
Starting point is 01:54:27 I know you're listening to more. I mean, it's sad, but that's just... That's life. That's life, sadly. You just see you to... I just want to live as long as possible, okay? Let me be 101, and I just want my brain and my penis to work. And to be honest with you, I don't even care of my brain and work.
Starting point is 01:54:41 Crazy, crazy. First of all, what? Two good little things on your body you want to keep working for. But you are not going to be worrying about pumping and all at 101. You think you really going to be. It's not about the healthiness of life. I want to wake up in the morning still with an erection at 101. And with the day I don't, that's when I know it's time to go.
Starting point is 01:54:57 All right. A hundred and one year. We got to go. All right. We don't know what a hundred and one going to look like in the future. All right. I might be half robot. That's the latest one.
Starting point is 01:55:07 Half robot. Have, yes. All right. That's the latest with Lauren. Any accident, big or small. Small. Please call Top Dog Love. It's the breakfast club.
Starting point is 01:55:14 Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Just hilarious. Shalameen the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now's Black History Month. What are we doing?
Starting point is 01:55:22 You know, every day during Black History Month, my guy BDOT does a podcast called I didn't know maybe you didn't either on the Black Effect podcast network. And today he's going to tell you about Jamaica, the black woman who built her own war hospital. We'll discuss. The black woman who built her own war hospital. Welcome to Jamaica. I didn't know. Welcome back, me norahal friends, to another episode of the most anticipated podcast
Starting point is 01:55:46 on the Black Effect Podcast Network, an entitled, Me Didn't Know, Maybe I Didn't Know Either, maybe I didn't know neither, your host right here, BDOT. What y'all think? How do I do on my Jamaica? Because I want to go to Jamaica this year, and my manager slash strategist, she has have Jamaica. So she turns that thing on and off. You did what I'm saying? Me doing the best year. Whenever I try to do a Jamaican accent, my reference point is Sebastian from the Little Mermaid.
Starting point is 01:56:17 Here you see her. You can get across the way. Like, that's where I get that. Or I just say Holly Salasi. Whenever I say Holly Salasi, it's what to put me in the frame to talk like these. I'm going to work on it. If you haven't figured it out yet,
Starting point is 01:56:33 today's episode, you do still need your digital passport because we're headed to Jamaica. Come on. And I got a quick reminder for you before we start. When a black woman get tell, no? Uh-uh. History. I got to get built.
Starting point is 01:56:48 Anyway. But before we get into all of that, you know I got to kick off the episode with three of the most useless facts will never, ever, never, never, never, never, never, never need. Not a day in life. Up first, one of the most important nurses in war history wasn't even allowed to work for the British military.
Starting point is 01:57:08 The second use. This same black woman treated wounded soldiers on the front lines during the Crimean War. And your third useless fact, she treated those wounded soldiers by building her own hospital. In a war zone. Man, let's talk about Mary Seacold. I didn't know maybe you didn't need. I didn't know, maybe you didn't need. I didn't know. I didn't know.
Starting point is 01:57:33 I didn't know. I didn't know. Mary Seacole was born in Jamaica. was born in Jamaica in the early 1800s. She was a healer, a nurse, a businesswoman, and somebody who knew how to get things done. She learned traditional Jamaican healing from her mom who ran a boarding house for six soldiers.
Starting point is 01:57:55 By the time she was in her 20s, Mary was already treating cholera outbreaks across the Caribbean. And all cholera was was the ruins. Yeah, it was a diarrhoea disease caused by bacteria. When the Crimean War broke out in the 1850s, Mary wanted to help wounded British citizens. soldiers. So she applied to join the official nursing corps. And they said
Starting point is 01:58:13 absolutely not. Not because she wasn't qualified. You know why. 1850s. Because she was black. Oh, and Mary got the receipts? The rejection letters still exist. Mary applied four times. One, two, three, four. Meanwhile, Florence
Starting point is 01:58:29 Nightingale got the resources, the support, and the history books. From Mary Seaco looked at their rejection and said, Cool. May I got to do it myself? She traveled to the war zone on her own dime. Here it was she called the British Hotel, part hospital, part supply center, part refuge. The British hotel was two miles from the front line.
Starting point is 01:58:51 Mary would ride out on horseback after battles to treat the soldiers right where they fell. Under fire, she treated soldiers directly on the battlefield, would use herbal medicines, provided food, care, comfort. Man, the soldiers loved her. They called her mother Seaco. But here's the global part that they just don't teach. Mary Seaco wasn't just helping individuals. She was building infrastructure. This has been the same theme all season.
Starting point is 01:59:20 When institutions blocked her, she created her own. That's the whole playbook right there. If you don't learn anything else this season, when you get blocked by an institution, create your own. Because after that war, Mary Seacore returned to England. Brook. No pension, no recognition. No statue.
Starting point is 01:59:39 Her story just faded until people went back and looked for it. In 2004, she was voted the greatest black Britain. In 2016, she finally got a statue in London, 135 years after her death. A century later, you know the story. Carter G. Woodson created Negro History Week, because stories like Mary Seacoles disappear without protection. Not because they aren't powerful, but because they challenge who gets the credit and C.G. W.
Starting point is 02:00:09 That what I call Carter G. Woodson. If we don't preserve black excellence globally, he's through a hand the flowers to somebody else. Make sure you share this episode. If I didn't know, maybe you didn't either. I didn't know. All right, salute to B.D.D.
Starting point is 02:00:24 My guy, B.D.D. Make sure you subscribe to I didn't know maybe you didn't either. Man, B.D.D. does a phenomenal job with this podcast every year. And the number of show that y'all enjoy it on the daily. So go run it up. Subscribe to it. wherever you listen to podcast.
