Listen to Nora Jones is playing along on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 2023, Bachelor star Clayton Eckerd was accused of fathering twins,
Starting point is 00:01:11 but the pregnancy appeared to be a hoax. You doctored this particular test twice, Ms. Owens, correct? I doctored the test ones. It took an army of internet detectives to uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing. Greg, a lesbian. Michael Mancini.
Starting point is 00:01:28 My mind was blown. I'm Stephanie Young. This is love trapped. Laura, Scottsdale Police. As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences. Listen to Love Trapped podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. How could this have happened in City Hall? Somebody tell me that.
Starting point is 00:01:52 A shocking public murder. This was one of the most dramatic events that really ever happened in New York City politics. I scream, get down, get down. Those are shots. A tragedy. That's now forgotten. End of mystery. That may or may not have been political.
Starting point is 00:02:09 That may have been about sex. Listen to Roershack, murder at City Hall, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Woke up. Wake you up. Programmed your alarm to Power 105.1 on IHeartRadio. Good morning, USA. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, Joe. Starting point is 00:02:35 Good morning. Charlemagne the God Peace to the planet It's Tuesday How y'all feel out there? I feel blessed black And highly favored Happy to be here
Starting point is 00:02:44 Another day to serve our beautiful listeners Good morning Good morning What's up Jess How are you feeling? I'm feeling good How are you doing?
Starting point is 00:02:51 I'm good good Good good I want to Well how's the book thing Because I know you're on tour right now Your book comes out April 28th How's the tour going? Yes it's going well
Starting point is 00:02:59 I have a lot of press lined up Between now We'll actually started two weeks ago Between now and 428 Actually my press goes all the way into May But I'm excited This is the first time I've been on a book store. But, yo, let me tell you, the pre-sales don't, don't, they don't work like, you know what
Starting point is 00:03:15 saying? Because I sell products. I sell tickets to comedy shows. I sell everything else. I've never sold books before, pre-order. And it's kind of hard expecting somebody to pre-order something that they, you know, that they're not going to get into like weeks, weeks later. So that's my only worry right now, like the pre-sale game.
Starting point is 00:03:35 We're being very transparent. But we did a press start, though, because you said you're all over the place, but you're at home. That's what it. Yeah. Yeah. I'm at home right now. I had Press in D.C. I had Press in Baltimore.
Starting point is 00:03:46 I've had Pressing Virginia. So, yeah, I'm at home. But, yeah, I've been doing press all over the police and still got more press to come. But, yeah, the pre-sale game is different, yo. Definitely different. Well, people are also, you know, dealing with a lot of other things right now. Life. And life.
Starting point is 00:04:04 In life. Yes. Yeah. I mean, that's true as well, but it's still, it's just still hard to sell something that you're not going to get until later. Yeah, well, I mean, I get everybody going through things, absolutely. Everybody always going through something. People have been buying books since the beginning of the time. That's right.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Yeah. You don't have a problem pre-ordering books. Yeah, so when pre-orders, they usually get it the day that the book comes out. And then as it comes out, more and more people are reviewing it and telling people how great the book is. And you'll get it. And when you get out there more and more, people will start understanding and getting diving into your book. I think. Appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Yeah, listen, I know it's going to be a great piece of literature. It's going to do well when it comes out. I'm just, like, not used to pre-sale. I'm not used to building up to things like that. That's not how I, you know, sell product or tickets or anything like that. But, yeah, just sharing that. But I'm very excited for the release of my book. Well, welcome to the book world.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Thank you. Thank you. Salute to everybody in New Orleans. Larry Morrill sends his love. I seen Larry yesterday. I was out in New Orleans. I stopped by one of his... Did you go to one of his restaurant?
Starting point is 00:05:06 Did you eat some good food? Yeah, I went to... Don't be going to places like New Orleans to come back and tell me... Don't tell me what you ate now. You know what you ate. Well, I went to his... I don't care about who you saw
Starting point is 00:05:13 other than Lari because he got all the food. Yeah, I went to his grandmother's restaurant. It's called Sun Chun. Oh, I haven't been there yet. Sunshend, banging. Banging, banging, banging. So I went there yesterday. I was actually out there.
Starting point is 00:05:22 There's a black entrepreneur collective that do a... It's kind of like a... They do meetings. They do meat in Greece. They, you know, it's just all about politicking, meeting, and networking. And I was just... Chinese food? At Sunshan, yes.
Starting point is 00:05:36 It's a little bit of everything. Every time you say that, it sounds racist. I just don't like the way you pronounce it. Sun Chun? It might be, but just the way you're saying. That's his grandma's name. Coming from a Dominican who pretends to be black is crazy. I don't know, it just don't sound like that. And you got to stop that because when I was DJ and the black entrepreneur,
Starting point is 00:05:51 they were like, aren't you Dominican? And they're laughing. I'm like, no, no, no. You all keep booking him for things. No. But he's Afro-Dimatic. I'm not Afro-Dimician. So again, salute to everybody I've seen in New Orleans.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Larry's, my mother's Chinese? Yes. Korean, actually. Oh, that's dope. Yeah, she's Korean and black. So she met her husband in the military when, I believe it was the Korean War. They were out there. They met, and the Korean family did not approve of it.
Starting point is 00:06:14 So she came back and moved and had a family. Well, I hope you get this woman's story right. I did. I spoke to her all the time. I speak to her all the time. So, again, salute to everybody out in New Orleans. You know what I seen two yesterday? I seen Gunner.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Rapper Gunner. Oh, you know what, actually. Yeah, I saw Larry, I saw the restaurant posted it. Larry posted. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We were sitting next to each other. I didn't even recognize him because he lost so much weight. I didn't recognize him at first, but salute the gunner.
Starting point is 00:06:39 I ran into the gunner as well. And listen, we have some special guests on the show this morning. Raven Johnson and Tenaya Latson. Okay, we'll be joining us. Now, I got to tell y'all, last night they did get drafted. Raymond Johnson went to the Indiana Fever. Tenaya went to the Los Angeles Parks. But they came here before the draft.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Before the draft. So they came here yesterday morning. Yes. Yes. And also from Real Housewives of Atlanta, Portia Williams will be joining us. Man, she's always getting drafted by somebody. Porsche got two rings. All right.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Porsche already got two rings working on a third. Drop on the clues mom for Porsche, okay? All right. She got two rings already working on a third. You heard me? Okay. All right. Well, let's get the show cracking.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Today is the Brat's birthday. We got some Brat, some Brat, tat, tat. Anything? Happy birthday, Bray. All right, there we go. Let's start the show like this. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Just hilarious. Sholomey and the Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Salute to the Brats's her birthday. She's 52 today. We got on her joint.
Starting point is 00:07:32 And let's get in some front page news. Start off with some quick sports. We got to congratulate Azee Fudd. She was the number one pick yesterday. Yukon Guard. Yes, indeed. She went to Dallas. Yes, indeed.
Starting point is 00:07:43 And we got to also congratulate Flagee Johnson. Of course, she's been to pay a couple times. She was drafted to the Golden State and then traded to Seattle. And salute to the South Carolina game cock that got drafted. Raven Johnson went to the Indiana Fever. Tenaya Latson went to the Los Angeles Sparks. Medina O'Cott went to the Atlanta Dream. And I'm going to tell you something.
Starting point is 00:08:00 When you watching the WNBA draft and you hear the announcer refer to a player as a stud, it's hilarious. I didn't see it last night. What you mean? She meant like, you know, a dominant, highly athletic player. But it's the WNBA. So it just hits a little different when you say it. That's what a stud actually means? What?
Starting point is 00:08:18 That's what a stud actually means a high-dominated? I mean, I don't know if that's what it actually means, but they use the word stud when they're referring to, like, you know, great athletes sometimes. I didn't hear that. So they said coming to the stage the studs. No, man, they didn't say it like that. They were just like, returning her. They referred to one of the women, and they was like, she's a stud. Hey, yo, coming to the stage is crazy.
Starting point is 00:08:40 That's what we made it seem like. Oh, man. What's up, Mimi? Good morning. Nvee, Jellarlemaine. How y'all doing this morning? Good. It's hot.
Starting point is 00:08:47 It is hot in there, right? I thought it was just me. That's hot. It's hot outside today. It is. It is hot outside today. All right, well, we start this morning with the president facing backlash over a controversial social media post. So the post showed.
Starting point is 00:09:00 President Trump depicted as Jesus appearing to heal a man with light coming from his hand. The AI generated image, it drew immediate criticism, including from religious leaders and some of his own supporters. It was deleted about 13 hours later. But the president says the image was misunderstood, telling reporters that it's not what everyone thinks it is. Let's listen. Well, it wasn't depicted. It was me. I did first it, and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with Red Cross as a Red Cross worker there, which we support. And only the fake news could come up with that one.
Starting point is 00:09:36 So I had, I just heard about it. And I said, how do they come up with that? It's supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. His lies never made sense, but that would definitely end up. How did he come up with that line? Not at all. Like his lies used to be a tad bit better, but that made no sense whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:09:55 He just don't care anymore. I've seen the picture. He didn't look like no goddamn doctor. He looked like. He just trying to portray Jesus. That's what he looked like. Exactly. And that's what everyone took it as. So Trump says he took it down to avoid confusion, but he did not apologize. And this all comes hours after the president took aim at Pope Leo, criticizing him for opposing U.S. military action against Iran. In a lengthy social media post, Trump called the Pope weak and said he was terrible at foreign policy. Now, the Pope has been calling for peace, warning against threats of destruction, and urging leaders to avoid further
Starting point is 00:10:28 escalation. So yesterday, speaking to reporters while heading to a 10-city peace tour across Africa, the Pope says that he has no fear of the Trump administration and says that he's not looking for a fight. Let's listen. I don't want to get into a debate with him. I don't think that the message of the gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing. And I will continue to speak out loud against war, looking to promote peace, promoting dialogue and multilateral relationships among the states to look for just solutions to problems. Too many people are suffering in the world today. Too many innocent people are killed.
Starting point is 00:11:04 And I think someone has to stand up and say there's a better way to do this. What did Trump expect the Pope to say? The Pope is all about peace. The Pope is all about love. He's all about light. Of course he don't want war. What are we talking about here? And how do you pick a fight with the Pope of all people?
Starting point is 00:11:19 Lord, have mercy. And then later we hear from the White House, the President, he doubled down saying he does not owe the Pope and a And so meanwhile, J.D. Vance, he's also weighing in and he is defending the president. Here he is. The president was posting a joke. And of course, he took it down because he recognized that a lot of people weren't understanding his, his humor in that case. I think the president of United States likes to mix it up on social media. And I actually think that's one of the good things about this president is that he's not filtered. He doesn't send everything through a communications professional. He actually reaches out directly to the people.
Starting point is 00:11:53 No, he should absolutely send it through a communications professional. Okay. Yeah, I think that it should all go through a filter. I think that that is the consensus. But this conversation now sparking backlash from numerous conservative groups and given people amongst Trump's entire base. So, and really quickly to a major political fallout in Washington. So yesterday we told you about Congressman Eric Swalwell,
Starting point is 00:12:19 that he suspended his run for California governor following multiple sexual assault. or sexual misconduct allegations. Well, this morning, we're learning that he now plans to resign from Congress. The move comes as he faces House ethics investigation and growing pressure from both sides of the aisle to step down. There was even a possible talk of the House voting to expel him, and now his resignation could also trigger a special election to replace his seat. Now, he's denying those allegations, but they come from a former staffer who claims she was sexually assaulted along with other women alleging sexual misconduct. and those allegations are now under investigation. But that wasn't the only shakeup on Capitol Hill.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez also announcing that he plans to step down. They announced it on the same day. Gonzalez, he had been under investigation by the House Ethics Committee over a relationship with a former staffer. That staffer later died by suicide. So he was also facing the possibility of an expulsion vote. Yeah, it really feels like we were in two different worlds. Like ethics, morals, laws, they have to be enforced all across the board.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Like, why do we expect more from others than we do the president of the United States of America? Pretty much. Well, coming up at 7, when you get to the checkout line, does it feel a little different lately? A lot of people say they're feeling pressure. We'll explain. We'll talk about it in the next hour. All right. Everybody else, get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:13:37 800-585-105-1. If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open. Once again, 1-800-5-105-1 is the breakfast club. Good morning. Ray, Ray, Ray. Yo, Sala Man. Envy, what up? Are we live?
Starting point is 00:13:51 This is your time. to get it off your chest. I got an indoor pool, an outdoor pool. We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club. We can get on the phone right now. We'll tell you what it is. Hello, who's this? Hi, I'm this, Karen.
Starting point is 00:14:04 Hi, hi, breakfast club. Hey, Karen, good morning, good morning. Get it off your chest, Karen. Just shouting especially to Hunter. For those that know her, no, I'm a connect county public school driver, and I just wanted to get off my chest, how tricky the transportation department is. All of those beautiful, big signs about $21 to $29, that's garbage.
Starting point is 00:14:32 It's basically pro-rated pay. A lot of people are under the assumption that we get paid for just being home during the summer. No, no, no. They take big chunks of our pay pro-rating it through the year to ration it out until the summer. So when these people come in for their free training and their CBL, they think they're getting a really sweet deal. And after they see the logistics, it's such a revolving door. People come and go, come and go, and they don't pay the people in Georgia a living sustainable wage. They're kind of, they're exploiting single parents.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Whether it's men or women, moms or dad, we're not making enough to make a single household budget work. And bus drivers are no longer for retirees. These are people that need to get their kids to school and from school that don't have any extra cash to do after school or before school. These average parents are just trying to do what they need to do to basically provide for their families. And Guinect County does not pay our bus drivers
Starting point is 00:15:55 that drive our most precious cargo. Yep. Our children. Walmart, all these big franchise companies for the supermarket, they're driving merchandise. A lot of these truckers get $41 an hour plus. I've been a bus driver for seven years, and I'm still only at step seven.
Starting point is 00:16:19 And that's under $23. It's ridiculous. Wow. Yeah, that's a travesty. Makes me believe they don't care about the drivers, all the kids, because to your point, if I'm trusting you with such precious cargo,
Starting point is 00:16:29 you know, I need to pay you like you carrying precious cargo. Exactly, Charlemagne. At the end of the day, they throw us a little bone. They give us a $2,000, $1,000 bonus, and everyone's happy. All the best drivers are like,
Starting point is 00:16:43 oh, we're getting a bonus. We're getting a bonus. a bonus? No, this is something that should be already granted, but our wages need to go up. We don't have people that fight for bus drivers. I agree.
Starting point is 00:16:57 I agree. Salute to all the bus drivers out there. I know a lot of them getting ready to get ready to go pick up their kids and drop them off at school, but yeah, I totally agree. I'm so sorry, Mama. Yeah, check it out. Most ACEs don't, most buses don't have ACs. So we have all of these kids jammed up this bus,
Starting point is 00:17:13 hot, sweaty, red, God knows almost passing out. Why is it that you can do that to children on a bus? But if you leave an animal in a car, somebody's calling a car phone you. That's right. It's crazy out here. Guys, everyone, parents listening, please appreciate your school bus driver. There's only one adult to maybe 42 to 68 kids per bus.
Starting point is 00:17:40 And we have to drive safely. We have to make sure nobody's picking on your kids. We have to make sure that there's behavior management. We have a lot to do plus drive at the same time. Please appreciate us and please fight to get us a living wage. We're taking care of your kids. They are our kids. That's right.
Starting point is 00:17:59 First of the day, making sure we get them from your house to school safely and from school back home safely. Yeah, absolutely. Thank you so much. That's something to think about when you dropping your kids off at the bus stop this morning, man. Salute, salute all the bus drivers out there. That's right. Get it off your chest. 800.585.15.1.
Starting point is 00:18:18 If you need the vent, hit us up now. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed. I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk. I hate the way that you dress. Everything with me is blessed. Call up next.
Starting point is 00:18:32 800-585-1051. Not just me. I'm with the coach of feeling. Hello. Who's this? Hello. It's an age. Hey, good morning. Get it off your chest. It's my birthday today, so I just wanted to fall.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Good morning, Shane Asia. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. What are you calling from? I love you guys. I love you guys. I love you guys. I love you guys.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Tell me I didn't deserve happiness, but I love you guys. Damn. Do you deserve happiness now? Let me hear what's going on in your life. It's a birthday. I do. They both,
Starting point is 00:19:03 I'm following T. I was there for 13 years, and I love what Nisi is doing for everybody. They really do appreciate it. My mother's still there. My boyfriend is there. So shout out to you. And it's really don't.
Starting point is 00:19:14 They will all. leave it. Oh, you're a TSA worker? Yeah, I used to be 13 years, but I work for a different agency now. Okay. That's dope. Well, salute to all the TSA workers, and hopefully they can enjoy that week that American Dream is doing for the TSA agents. To give them a little stress reliever with their family and stuff, I just think it's dope, just to give back. What's you got playing for your B-Day? I have a lot of things to say, I have a lady's night plan. My boyfriend told me today, just come home from work to get dressed.
Starting point is 00:19:39 I'm going to work about my job. But he said, come home and work, get dressed, and we're going out. That's all the information you give it. You're going to work because you got your little work husband. You want to see what you're going to get you for your birthday. That's why you're going to work. I love that. She loved her job.
Starting point is 00:19:51 You hit this little laugh. That's why I said you don't deserve happiness. You see what I'm saying? You're a clown. You're not supposed to get in on business all that. You're going to say sorry because it's my birthday. I don't know. Happy born day.
Starting point is 00:20:02 I wish you the best today. Enjoy your day. Absolutely. Happy birthdays. I love you guys. I love you guys. Hello. It's also my son birthday too.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Happy birthday of big ass. She's 14. What's up, Ash? Happy birthday, Ash. Ash. Ash. That's not you, not you, man.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Good morning, y'all. What's about Jeff Laris and son's birthday? What's your name, brother? My bad, yo. Good morning. Hey, what up, though, man. What's up, Jeff? What's up, Shalaman?
Starting point is 00:20:31 What's up, DJ? What's up, brother? How are you doing, my brother? Hey, good morning. Hey, uh, I want to say a couple things first. Uh, I ain't going to be long, though. How people mad at Gucci for snitchin or whatever he did, with Pushaisty who robbed him,
Starting point is 00:20:46 but people not mad at Gunner for telling him thug, and he got on court and on the stand and testified. I don't understand that. That's a contradiction that I don't understand between black people. I don't even understand. I don't even understand the correlation that you just made. Because people mad at Gucci for telling on him for robbery, but people justifying Gunner snitching on thug
Starting point is 00:21:09 because they said he wasn't in the street. But Gunner is literally why a dude that was in the street and kicking him with thug who was in the street but Gucci been out of prison but not the street for over 10, 15, 20 years. Listen, listen. My brother, my brother, my brother, let me give you a different perspective. Like, I don't know about Gunner or Gucci, but why ain't nobody mad at, more mad at Poo Shastie for what he did?
Starting point is 00:21:33 Yeah, that's not my man. And he just came home from doing that already. And his dad was with him. And he had a bunch of people with him. Like, why? there's a person who allegedly committed a crime. I can care less what Gunna and Gucci did in that situation. He's saying if you're going to justify one shit and you got justified to
Starting point is 00:21:50 but they didn't justify. They used to, they was killing Gunner. What were we talking about? Nobody would do shows with him. Nobody had records with him for a long time. He saw him in a restaurant yesterday and they didn't talk to him for 10 minutes. I didn't know it was him though.
Starting point is 00:22:01 For no reason. Like he's some street. Don't put that out there. Gunna lost him was weight. I didn't know what was gun at first. Hey, do girl got testified a day? Who? What?
Starting point is 00:22:11 That lady in the, uh, in Congress. Oh, no, she don't. You talk about, uh, Pam Bond. Yeah, they got to make her come to the sand today, man. Well, she's not. I don't think she. You don't think so. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:23 I don't think she. All right, man. That's not wanting it. Just let me get a book. Can I get a book? Can I pre-order it? Yeah, you can pre-order the book. Justleras official.
Starting point is 00:22:31 com. Um, you go on there. Just pre-order ads and a pre-sales. There you go. I appreciate it. Howie, I got you. I'm a sign it for you. he wanted a free one jess he said can i get a pre can i can i get a book can i pre-order book yeah you can go
Starting point is 00:22:47 here pre-order a book i got you get it off your chest 800 585 1 05151 what's up good morning good morning good morning jess up like a wet backwood i just put like some glow on there because this my arms is out today and i want the glow and look beautiful it's like wet black and miles he got two of them attached to your body Jesus shut up Let's focus Just focus Just focus If somebody licking the blunt

Starting point is 00:24:44 A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care. So they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed. I will be his last target.
Starting point is 00:25:01 He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the Girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back. I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and
Starting point is 00:25:31 conversation with some of my favorite musicians. Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leveh, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolfe, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name. this season I've sat down with Alessia Kara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more. Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. You related to the Phantom at that point. Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that. That's so funny. Share each day with me each night, each morning, say you love me.
Starting point is 00:26:09 So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to playing along. on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 2023, former bachelor star Clayton Eckerd found himself at the center of a paternity scandal. The family court hearings that followed revealed glaring inconsistencies in her story. This began a years-long court battle to prove the truth. You doctored this particular test twice, Ms. Sond's, correct? I doctored the test ones. It took an army of internet detectives to crack the case.
Starting point is 00:26:43 I wanted people to be able to see what their... tax dollars were being used for. Sunlight's the greatest disinfected. They would uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing. Gregalespian and Michael Marantini. My mind was blown. I'm Stephanie Young.
Starting point is 00:27:00 This is Love Trap. Laura, Scottsdale Police. As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences. Ladies and gentlemen, breaking news at Americopa County as Laura Owens has been indicted on fraud charges. This isn't over until justice is served in Arizona.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Listen to a love trapped podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Morning. You're talking about a little cool, babe. Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself. Damn. I'm being myself. That source is tough.
Starting point is 00:27:35 I'm the home guy that knows a little bit about everything and everything. Morning. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that. Take me through that. Where is she going? The latest with Lauren Lewis. On the breakfast club.
Starting point is 00:27:48 L.L. Cool band. Talk to me. All right, y'all. So the rock and roll Hall of Fame inductees were announced yesterday. I really wish they would change that name to just the Music Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Oh. You don't like the rock and roll. No. Because it's more than rock and roll. Yes. Yeah, because, I mean, so we're going to talk about the inductees. So Luther Vandross,
Starting point is 00:28:12 Shade, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, I was supposed to say Billy Idol, Wu-Tang, Joy Division slash New Order were inducted yesterday, and that's the performer category. And in the early influencer category, you have Jimmy Rogers, Jimmy Yancey, and Robert Johnson, and the non-performers category, you have Alan Freight. Oh, wait.
Starting point is 00:28:40 I'm sorry, this is the wrong year. Yeah, I don't know what you were. Yeah, I don't know what you were doing. Out of all the people who were nominated, you just named the people who actually got in because on top of those people, the people that were nominated were, it was Mariah Carey, New Edition,
Starting point is 00:28:53 NXS, Pink, Black Crows, Lauren Hill, Melissa Atherner, Shakira, Jeff Buckley, and the people you named are the ones who got in. Yes, yes. It was 16 nominations, probably. Okay, yes, I got my order right. So let me redo that again, because the early influence awards,
Starting point is 00:29:06 I wanted to mention Queen Latifah. So you have the performer category for 2026, and you have the Early Influence Awards. So you have Queen Latifah, M.C. Light, and then you have Cila Cruz, Fela Couti, Graham Parsons,
Starting point is 00:29:18 and then they have a Music Excellence Award and other nominees. Now, on the list that did not make it into the actual inductions were New Edition, and that was a big conversation because New Edition,
Starting point is 00:29:28 they were leading in the fan vote. They won the fan vote. Yes, they had a little over a million fan votes. And I had a lot of people that were reaching out to me yesterday once it was announced trying to figure out
Starting point is 00:29:40 why if they won the fan vote, would they not have one or actually been inducted into the committee. Because that's not the only one. Yeah. So I think a lot of people don't know that though. So there are different ways that you can get into the induction conversation in the beginning. So first of all, there's a nominated committee. So this is a small group of historians, industry professionals, and artists who select the list of committees.
Starting point is 00:30:04 And then after that, there's a voting body. So this is more than 1,200 experts. So these people include people who have already been inducted, historians, music industry professionals, and they review the nominees. And from there... I'm a part of that voting body, by the way. Got you. Okay. And so from there, the fan vote, which is Wade as well, that's the general public.
Starting point is 00:30:21 So that's what a lot of the fans were rallying for, and they were going super hard for new edition for... And that's the public votes. And that's where you went and vote when you go to vote that rock and roll Hall of Fame. And then the induction selections happened. But, yeah, there's a bunch of different things that weigh in on the vote and a bunch of different people. Yeah. So basically there's different rounds. There's different rounds you got to go through.
Starting point is 00:30:40 No, it's not different rounds. No, not rounds. It's just a bunch of different things that weigh into equal whether you're inducted or not. It's not just, okay, a million fans. A little bit of that, a little bit of this. So it's all collectively the way that you get in. It's not just a fan vote.
Starting point is 00:30:53 It's not just a industry vote. It's not just a committee. It's all of it. You have a fan vote and you have a voting body. That's it. And the voting body is like Lauren just said. It's people who are already in the rock and roll hall of fame. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:04 It's musicians and so-called industry experts. Yes. I have a question. How do you separate the industry experts from, the like what is the industry expert to the Rock and Rolls Fame because it expands across so many different genres I have no idea I'm in I'm in the voting body and I'm an expert at nothing Yeah, I'm in the voting body as well I just have some experience But I do believe New Edition should have made it just of their history I mean they saw 88 million records together they started that group in 1978
Starting point is 00:31:30 They've been relevant selling out tours damn their sense I think new addition should But all is not lost just because you don't get in this year doesn't mean you won't get in next year Yeah and I'm surprised Mariah didn't I'm surprised Mariah Carey didn't get in. Yeah, I was surprised Mariah Carey didn't get in. But there was a statement circulating yesterday, and I know I reached out to New Edition or for a rep for Black Promoters Collective trying to get to them just to see, you know, what their response would be.
Starting point is 00:31:56 And, you know, all in all, the conversation around what the response was is like, it happens. They mentioned the Dave Matthews band. And the reason why they mentioned Dave Matthews band is because in 2020, the Dave Matthews band won the fan vote as well, but they didn't get inducted. But then in 2024, they were actually inducted to the rock and roll. of Fame. So it's like these groups are still great and it can happen again. And if fans
Starting point is 00:32:16 rallied now, you can rally again, you know what I mean? And also, salute the new edition. I do think new edition should have got in. But man, sometimes we spend too much time talking about what didn't happen as opposed to talking about what did. Wu-Tang Clan is in the Rocking the Wall of Fame.
Starting point is 00:32:31 So is Lute Zandross. And Shade. Like, drop one of the clues bombs for that. Like, Wootang Clan? That's crazy, yeah. Like, come on. Mung Tang. Luta. Luta's from the Bronx. So big up to the Bronx. Queen Latifah, MC, like, get the mention for the Early Influenza Award recipients.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Queen Latifah, yeah, MCLite, absolutely positively. Yes. Think about when we first watched, when we first saw Wu-Tang Clan in the 1900. Protect your neck. Wait. Yeah, you're right. And now. Put the Rueh Teng for a second.
Starting point is 00:32:58 All the fame. I saw Rayquan posting in response to this too. He said, his three books will know this club. This is my Grammy. What we're talking about? Shout out to all the mothers who birthed these men, they won tonight. That's right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:11 You walk in Walmart and Target and see the Wu-Tang logo all over the place. You're damn right day getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And New Edition said, you know, for the fans to keep the same energy in 2027 when it's time to vote again. So that's exactly what the fans shall do. No addition will definitely get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the next couple of years.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Well, can you name all the... No, you can't name. What? Name the Wu-Ting members. Rayquan. Oh, my goodness. Okay, I can't... You go to Ray Quine?
Starting point is 00:33:40 Man, how are you not? I gave up. Y'all made me nervous. Y'all made me nervous. Yizza, Jiza, Method man, Redman. Redman. Not Redman, no. Red man is not.
Starting point is 00:33:51 See, y'all, you be doing this on purpose. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I don't even know why. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:33:59 I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Continue on. No, Redman? Yo, shut up. Yeah, really, shut up for real. All just aside. All just right.
Starting point is 00:34:05 No. Respectfully. Shout. Oh my goodness. Moving on. We are. It was a joke, y'all. It was a joke, y'all.
Starting point is 00:34:10 No, it was. Yes, it was. No, no, no, we got to, wait, I have something else to say. I can't name them. No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. Now you got to name them since it was a joke. I don't know them.
Starting point is 00:34:19 I told you that the first time. So what was the joke? But you were right there, though, Lo. No, she was listening. Duh. All right. You said, red man is not a... I know just.
Starting point is 00:34:29 She was literally just right. She did not, no. Continue. Before we have to wrap up, I wanted to mention the WMBA draft yesterday. I saw you guys were talking about it this morning, and I went last night. Speaking of learning things, it was my first time at Anything WMBA. Nice. And it was a great experience, though.
Starting point is 00:34:43 What? Why are you having and puffing? Go ahead. Go ahead. It was a great experience. What happened? Tell me about it. What happened? What do you know, Lord. Well, what I do... The latest. Exactly. It was the latest. What I do know is last night I got to watch a lot of different women be drafted into the WNBA.
Starting point is 00:34:59 It was fire. A lot of different women be drafted. Touchdown! I'm sorry. One name. Let's get one name, Lo. It was the WNBA draft. That's what's supposed to happen. Women are supposed to get drafted. Touch me. Give me one.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Just give us one woman. And the lady. Flojie. I saw Robin Johnson. I saw everybody. We posted video to the breakfast club to my Instagram as well. Who got drafted number one?
Starting point is 00:35:23 How do you say her name? Oh, my goodness. I don't know how you say her name. You just be sending yourself up for you. But you didn't. She's from you. You got it. You got.
Starting point is 00:35:32 She was in Connecticut. Did she get drafted on the same team as her girlfriend? Yes, she did. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if Paige is her girlfriend. I have no idea. But Raven Johnson and Tenaya Lassen will be joining us in the 8 a.m. hour.
Starting point is 00:35:43 And mind you, I told you, we talked to them yesterday before the draft. Absolutely. And they looked good last night, too. That's what you would say. They look good. They were excited about that here at their name. Absolutely. Well, congratulations to them.
Starting point is 00:35:54 That was halfway latest with Lauren. Oh, my God. I don't know what that is. Y'all are annoying. When we come back, we got front page news, Mimi's here. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody is the E.
Starting point is 00:36:03 You do it almost 50, right? I know, but I figured she should. would know that. We're going to point in 19708. But she's going to talk about them. I figure she would know the members,
Starting point is 00:36:11 no. She wouldn't even care if they wasn't inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. Shut up. It's always a moment for teaching. Just teach somebody.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Stop being mad-ass oaks all the time. Just teach somebody the members of the Wu-Tang if they don't know. What's the point of teaching when y'all don't want to learn that and especially you.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Oh, I know. I know what's saying like she didn't know. We can teach her a million things. She still ain't going to grasp the concept. Shut up. All right. Well, let's get in some front page news.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Like Lauren just said, we got to congratulate Azzie Fudge. She is going to the Dallas Wings. She's from Yukon. She was drafted number one. Congratulations. Our homie, flojee, she got drafted. Flagee. Flage Johnson. She got drafted to Golden State and then she was traded to Seattle.
Starting point is 00:36:55 And drop on the clues from South Carolina game, Cockraven Johnson. She went number 10 to the Indiana Fever. Yes. And Tania Lapsin got drafted by the Los Angeles Park. They'll both be joining us next hour. That's right. Good morning, Mimi. Good morning, Envy, Jess Charlemagne.
Starting point is 00:37:09 How y'all doing this morning? Bless Black and how are you, me? Y'all listen to when we're taking Alaska, right? Yes. Okay, just talking to. I'm sorry, go ahead. Don't ask me to name them, please. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:18 All right. So we start this hour with new details in the death of that U.S. That young lady, she was a U.S. influencer from the USA, and she died overseas. Her death is now under investigation, and it's raising serious questions. So 31-year-old Ashley Jeannay, whose real name is Ashley Robinson. She was found unresponsive in her luxury villa at a luxury hotel in Tanzania. She was later pronounced dead. She was on the trip celebrating her birthday with her boyfriend, Joe McCann, who had recently proposed.
Starting point is 00:37:52 But what was supposed to be a celebration is now at the center of a growing and complicated investigation. Authorities say before her death, a couple, they had a major argument at the resort. It was so serious that staff had to step in, separate them, and place them in different rooms. And at one point, the staff, they were concerned enough about her well-being, that authorities were contacted. And shortly after Robinson, she was found unconscious in her villa and rushed to the hospital where she later died. Early reports from local officials, they suggest her death may have been a suicide with claims that she was found hanging from a door. Yeah. That narrative, though, is now being questioned. parents, they're speaking out and they're saying that there is no official cause of death that has been confirmed and they are actively working with authorities and the U.S. Embassy to piece together exactly what happened. And they say that they've received limited information from the boyfriend. Let's listen. She was a light. She was a beautiful person and this doesn't align with who she is. I was initially contacted by him to let me know that something had occurred and that she was in the hospital.
Starting point is 00:39:02 hospital, but it was very limited communication and not with a lot of detail. I asked him, you know, when it happened and what, where it happened. And he told me that it had occurred, something had occurred, 11 hours prior to when he was reaching out to me. We found out that our daughter had passed from the hotel. The fiance did not reach out to us at all. Oh, wow. Is he back in America? Well, that's the thing. People have been trying to contact him. No one. They're saying that he's saying that he's He hasn't responded. The parents said there's been limited contact with him. So no one knows as of yet right now if he's back in the USA or not. She is still there. And so the parents, they said that they're working to get to her in Africa right now.
Starting point is 00:39:45 How would they so quick to say it was suicide? Because it seems like they're still investigating. They saw a mark on her neck. And the mark on her neck led to, you know, the rumors of her being, you know, hanged. But what if they, but they also said that they had reports of people saying that they had, you know, arguments and they were worried about her well-being. So how could they
Starting point is 00:40:07 yeah quickly just rule it a suicide? Exactly. And so the father actually he was on TMZ yesterday and he was disputing that just he was saying you know there's been no confirmed reports you know as far as their concern that that is exactly what happened and so so damn sad. It's very very sad.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Where did the story come from that she hung herself? Well they saw the mark on her neck and the authorities in Tanzania were reported that that's what happened. Wow. Yeah. So,
Starting point is 00:40:35 that's horrible. It's... Sound like Joe McCain got some questions to answer. Well, yeah, and so while there is growing speculation online, including questions
Starting point is 00:40:44 surrounding her fiance, he's not been charged or detained. So as of right now, there's no official findings linking him to her death. I mean, it all sounds weird, right? Somebody passes away.
Starting point is 00:40:55 You tell a mother 11 hours later. Yeah. And then you don't even tell them that she is dead. The hotel tells them and now we can't get into contact with you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:04 It's so sad. It's a lot. It's very, very sad. And switching gears a little bit. If you are booking a summer flight right now, pay attention to those bag fees because they are on the ride. So we talked about this a little bit ago. So what started with JetBlue and United is now spreading American Delta, Alaska,
Starting point is 00:41:24 Hawaiian, and Southwest all raising their checked bag fees. So now you're looking at around 45. dollars for your first bag, $55 for your second, and up to $200, yes, if you are checking a third bag, Jess. And so here's the part to watch. If you are going to do it early, so some airlines will let you pay on, prepay online, so it'll be a little bit cheaper. So before you get to the airport, it could cost you a little bit cheaper to do it online,
Starting point is 00:41:50 but if you get to the airport and do it, it will charge you more. I think United is doing that. And I think JetBlue may be doing that. Double check that. but so yeah and it's not just flights though shipping is going up too so amazon is adding new fees for sellers uh uPS fedex even the postal service they're raising their prices and that is all due to the war rising i'm already i've saw the shipping prices go up but there's not delta you got pay for bags i know i said that just for envy because he had said uh delta what's his favorite
Starting point is 00:42:23 but if you already like a gold member or something you get a couple bags free right diamond sir i get three Congratulations, I'm just gold. I'm mosaic on Jeffman. I'm not a mosaic. I'm mosaic, damn. You get a couple free bags if you're a certain. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think you get two or three if you're a gold, platinum or diamond.
Starting point is 00:42:40 You get three. I mean, I'm sorry, diamond, you get three. So that still applies? That still applies, yes, yes, that still applies. And I was there yesterday, I flew to, like I said earlier, I flew to New Orleans and back and I was very nervous about, you know, spring break and everybody coming back. But we flowed through that airport fast.
Starting point is 00:42:57 I don't know if TSA workers are getting paid again or they're back on duty, but it flowed so fast. They started to get paid. Okay. And I see no ICE members in the airport, so it went through real fast. Most of the ICE members have left certain airports. They got paid on April 10th. Whether they'll get paid again in two weeks, that's still what is up for debate. So right now.
Starting point is 00:43:15 Yes. Thank you. How much more money do these airlines need, though? Right. God, damn. They're already taking an arm in the leg. Like, how much more money do they need? Crazy.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Yeah, for sure. All right, y'all. Well, that is your front page news. I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown TV. For more stories, follow the Black Information Network. Thank you, Mimi. Thank you. Thank you, Mimi. All right. Now, when we come back from Real Housewives of Atlanta, Portia Williams will be joining us. Capital P. We're going to talk to her next. Don't go anywhere. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Just hilarious. Charlemaine de Guy. We are the
Starting point is 00:43:47 Breakfast Club. Lauren LaRose is here as well. We got a special guest in the building. Capital Williams. Good morning. What's that? Favorite people to interview. You said what? You're one of my favorite people to talk to. For you. Because she's messy and she, like, mess. You know, because she just feels like I'm talking to my home girl.
Starting point is 00:44:03 It's always like we having drinks and just talking. Yes, like a home girl. Who knows all your business? Yeah. Because you do your research. I love that. No, I do. I love that.
Starting point is 00:44:11 No, and I love that. Like, it's nothing like when you're interviewing and someone knows, like, the backstory. I don't have to explain the whole thing. So what's the research today, Lauren? Yeah, what's the real? What have you dug up today? Dug up. I mean, well, I just finished episode two last night.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Me too. Uh-huh. So when you're watching these Real Housewives Atlanta episodes In real time, right? Does your emotion flare up after the episodes? Like, you know, because there'd be a lot of little things said
Starting point is 00:44:37 and we'll get into the things. I would say, you would think after this amount of time, it wouldn't. But I think I'm still trying to get used to the fact that I took a break for so long. So being it, I was gone for three years, it literally kind of feels like this is my second year doing the show
Starting point is 00:44:52 because I just wasn't thinking about it and I tapped in. So, like, yes, watching the show, like, last night, even first episode, I get emotional like, why you say that or why was this said? I definitely do. Do that now more than I used to? So you and Shemia, do y'all talk after these episodes air? Because after last night's episode, I'm like, I thought, like, y'all are like trying to be.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Well, I guess just the invite. So the first episode when she was invited to your house and she was trying to figure out whether the invite was real or not or whatever the case would be. And then the second episode was weird. I dropped it in the chat for everybody. Everybody came from a group chat. Invite to what? I had a party at my house. I had like a couple's dinner or like, you know, just a girl,
Starting point is 00:45:34 refresh dinner. And I dropped the invite in the group chat. So that's how everybody came. Nobody had a separate text. But she felt like she wasn't for sure she should even come because of where your relationship is right now or whatever. You don't like her? I mean, I don't know what that has to do with me.
Starting point is 00:45:51 I just said the inbox. I'm just wondering, like, after that first episode airs, or even the fact that I don't know in the second episode, it just, like, not seeing y'all as, like, Batman and Robin. It's just, like, so new for me, even though I know you're going through that. I don't really know. Well, I don't know why you would expect us to see us like Batman and Robin, because from the ending of, yeah, I mean, honestly,
Starting point is 00:46:11 the ending of last year's reunion, it didn't look like it was going to lead to us coming in, holding hands and, you know, fist bumping and chest bumping and all that. We're not bosom buddies. But I, you know, at that time I wished her well, I was cool. I am, you know, I've been doing this show for 10 years and I am still not to the point of where
Starting point is 00:46:30 I want to just exclude somebody. Okay. You know what I'm saying? So I felt like, you know, it's a party. All the girls seem to come. I want to just like refresh, start the season with a good vibe with everybody. And so that's why I did.
Starting point is 00:46:42 And at the time in this episode, in the season, you were dating the guy that was, I forget his name? Mike. Mike. Yeah. Okay. And they had a lot to say about the fact that you the party and what was before Simon
Starting point is 00:46:52 in your house and then Mike is there now and a ghost assignment pops up. Yeah. And production got you with that one. No, they got him. Okay. Okay, because they're going on. This man is dead. He's just not in the United States. He's not dead. So Charlamagne's a little lost. So they were at a table
Starting point is 00:47:09 having dinner and she's there with her boot at the time. They do with African. Well, he has African descent. We all do, ain't we? Yeah. Oh, Lord. It's not like Underground Railroad moment again now, Portia. What are you saying? I got African in me and so do you upro.
Starting point is 00:47:25 97%. That's right. 97%. But production had, because the girls kept talking about how they thought it was so crazy that she was having a party in a house with a new person she was dating, but that used to be her and Simon's house, right? Which is weird, too, right? Because... It's your house now. It's my house now. It's my house.
Starting point is 00:47:43 You know, like, at the end of the day, you know, you go to court, you know, and they make a judgment, and I was a warded the home. I pay every single bill, the water bill, the sanitation bill, the yard, everything. So it's my home. I think that is a way to show jealousy to continuously bring up, like, my ex-husband in a new world that I have. Like, I think that's just a way to just take shots. And really kind of belittle me as the boss that I am, a woman who actually stood her ground, a woman who actually, you know, did her due diligence with my pre-nup and got something out of it.
Starting point is 00:48:17 You know, Kelly didn't get anything. so I think unfortunately there's a little bit of jealousy there and once you save the house you're good you saved the house get all the old stuff out too good you said it was a little awkward though what what you had mentioned
Starting point is 00:48:29 one of the confessions they had you was like I mean it was a little awkward I don't remember what you were calling awkward but was something about the house and being in the house you know with everyone I would have been probably talking about with Mike yeah because we were still new like that was really our first date
Starting point is 00:48:42 after have seen each other in like a very long time so like your first day after seen each other a long time, it's on real housewives in Atlanta? Yeah, so he and I used to be a situation ship. Like, we were cool. Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:54 And, yeah, and so then my sister was like, look, if you're going to start dating, you know, you should just be honest and say, you know, you're going to date this person and date that person. So I was like, looking back, I was like, you know, Mike is a really good guy. Let me see if maybe there's something there. So that's how they ended up happening. So I had the dinner and, you know, gave him all that. Because they asked him, how'd y'all meet?
Starting point is 00:49:12 He said through God. That's nice. That man said, God sent me to him all right? What do you say to all your male fans who are upset that you are out with a woman now? Who are my male fans that are mad? They were going to get me no way. These guys weren't going to get me no way. They don't matter, but the fantasy.
Starting point is 00:49:34 These young boys right here hide now, but they trust me when you walking by through this hallway, they're like, oh my God, Porsche. What? You can still admire me. I'm still admirable and desirable, but I'm still admirable, but I, I do belong to someone else right now. At what point in the season does it change and we get to see that? Like, what episode in do we see you get away from dating and being serious in a relationship you're in right now?
Starting point is 00:50:00 Oh, it took some time. Like, the whole point of dating for me is true. Y'all know, I come up in here. I think I've come here and twice. Yeah. announcing two husbands to y'all. So at this point, you know, it's like... I don't remember two husbands.
Starting point is 00:50:13 Yeah, I came here with the first husband. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, she'd be collecting rings. But I'm slowing down. I'm slowing down the pace. And so what's your sin, especially the Bachelorette on Housewives? Like, I am just dating. It's real surface.
Starting point is 00:50:30 I'm being admired, you know, after going through a really, really rough divorce, y'all all know about for like a year and a half. It was a lot. So, you know, for me, when I decided to step out, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I think that a lot of people are, of course, dating. But they're not on a reality show and showing it. I actually am.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Do you even care about labels like lesbian or bisexual? Or do you feel like people are just too obsessed with putting you in a box? So when I first, I don't know, announced that I was dating her or that she was, you know, one of the options. Yeah, at first I was kind of like, okay, you know, everyone's, are you a lesbian, are you bisexual? Are you? And I was like, I don't have a label. Like, I'm just Portia sexual. I'm just exploring.
Starting point is 00:51:10 I am Porsche sexual, you know, now I'm SwaSway sexual. You know, I am just very, you know. I'm just very free with myself and exploring different parts of myself. At this moment, no, I don't mind if you want to call me a lesbian. I don't mind if, you know, bisexual is a phrase, but I don't know what comes with that. You know, kind of new with all that. But I'm not offended by it at all. Do you feel pressure to define your sexuality and out of the public might be watching?
Starting point is 00:51:40 Because we see it on social media, but it's a difference when it hits the TV. Yeah, that's true. I think that a lot of people probably feel pressure to labor. me. I don't feel pressure to label myself. I know who I am and I'm just living my life. And I think that if more people just decided to live their life and not trying to find a group or define
Starting point is 00:51:59 themselves in a certain way, you know, then, you know, that's probably best. I don't want to be out here putting myself in a box and then, you know, I don't need to be in that box. But you're in the box. That's why you're labeling. There are boxes around. Well, y'all be outside. I know he's going to certain way with this box. Let's get away from the box.
Starting point is 00:52:16 This is come out the box. That was done too. Here you're based for me to walk him right on into it. The cat is out the box. Damn. Okay, okay. Can I ask you a question? If you don't want to answer this.
Starting point is 00:52:30 That's the whole one in the interview. Because I heard you say to Angie Martinez that this is your first time actually dating a woman. You've just been kind of like curious before, right? What is there an actual difference in like the, like, what is the difference between dating a woman and dating a man? Like, what's different? Like, why does it? Yeah, it's a good question.
Starting point is 00:52:53 She hasn't experienced. Have you ever experienced dating a woman or a woman experiencing? I've never been with a woman before. Oh, okay. I thought one of y'all. Oh, no, that was just one of y'all. Just both of us is the same person. Right, you're in that chair.
Starting point is 00:53:05 Yeah, exactly. It's one of y'all. But, yeah, that's not a bad question because, of course, at this point, I'm now have dated both. Yeah. You know, what I find with Sway is I feel, very comfort. I feel a very confident. I feel very
Starting point is 00:53:20 seen. Very patient. I don't have to do too much explaining. We communicate a lot like we talk about our past and who we are a lot. And so I just feel like I'm really, really truly getting a chance to get to know her. Now that may also be
Starting point is 00:53:36 because we're going very slow. And of course in the past you guys know in the three months, I'm ready. Three month rule, where is my? You know, but in this case, I am definitely taking my time with her. And it's just very soft. And of course, I have always
Starting point is 00:53:51 been attracted to women. So I get both of those. I get the feminine side of her and I enjoy the masculine side of her. The duality is amazing. You said you had a three-month rule that you want to get... No, not a three-month rule. Let me not. Here we go. No, no, no. But usually, usually, both of my
Starting point is 00:54:07 marriages, they took up pretty quickly. Even my engagement took off pretty quickly. But, you know, you got to learn from some of those mistakes. And I mean, I'm 44. I'll be 45 this year. So I, you know, I definitely have come to a place. I know exactly who I am. And I think that it's probably what has everybody so curious about this lesbian, possible, you know, bisexual, et cetera, because I know who I am and maybe they want to put a definition on me. But as long as I know and I'm confident and I feel comfortable, we only have one
Starting point is 00:54:37 life experience, I am living mine to the absolute fullest. You know, looking back at your past relationships with men, right? Do you see patterns that made you open to something different? You mean that led me towards where I am now? No, I don't absolutely not. No, I would never say that a man pushed me to go be gay. I actually think that is
Starting point is 00:54:57 takes away from my experience completely because I did date both the man and her at the same time. It's just that's who I'm attracted to. That's just where I wanted to put my focus into and that's what you're doing, dating, right? You're going to date
Starting point is 00:55:13 and then you're going to see exactly where you can see growth and I saw more growth in a relationship with her than I did with him. It was never like a small penis that was so small. It was a cuck for you. I mean, a lot of men just don't have a lot of situations going on for themselves over 40 anyway. People got to start taking care of themselves. They do.
Starting point is 00:55:32 You know, people have to, women too. We are all hormonal walking around here, paramedopausal, men walking around and, you know, having issues with their penis and thing. Yeah, they're having situations. So, but I'm not that type of person. I'm very much into how you make me feel, how make you feel, how our energies connect. So it's not all based off of the pain. I don't miss it.
Starting point is 00:55:52 I'm okay. And as all your family, you all on one accord about it now, you mentioned before some people were like side-eyed in the situation a little bit. Me? No. I thought you said that on with Angie Martinez, that things are bit. No, never. No, not with my family.
Starting point is 00:56:06 No, my family. We have actually done every single, we were talking about that theater. We've done almost all the holidays together. and with our family. We just got back just now from taking my family, my grandmother, grandmother, auntie, everybody, her family, her mom, her sister, everybody to Miami. So we spent a lot of time with our families combined. Not outside.
Starting point is 00:56:28 Yeah, we just enjoying life. It's kind of like you, I'm with someone now. I can do all the things. I got a place. All this love I have in me, I feel safe giving it to her. Wow. I do. I feel safe.
Starting point is 00:56:40 So is this the healthiest relationship you've ever been in? I think that I am probably the healthiest because I am very accountable. I mean, if I do something, I think I also played a part. I can't say that those other relationships weren't healthy or toxic just because of them. I played a freaking part. But in this one, I do check myself a lot. And she checks herself and we check each other. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:57:01 But we come back around in a very loving way. So we're still in the very beginning phases of the relationship. But I do think that I am acting more healthy in this relationship. Is this the safest you felt in the relationship? I would say in what I know I want and what I'm willing to pursue, yes, because there's no pressure. I think I had always from the very beginning put pressure on myself to be a wife. I grew very religious and, you know, I just saw myself as the wife. Wife is the Pinnacle role.
Starting point is 00:57:33 You know, I was a business owner. I, you know, had my own penthouse. I was a boss and had my businesses. But to be married, I let all that go just to be a wife. And that label meant more to me than anything. But now being Portia, the most honest and truthful stance that I can be in as a person is where I feel most comfortable. So I don't feel the need to be labeled or anything. I want to be the best me and present that to her and to my daughter and to the world.
Starting point is 00:58:00 So I don't know. It's feeling safe. I feel safe. Safety starts here with me. I think a lot of where I thought I wasn't safe had to be me making wrong decisions because I didn't trust myself. I was trusting what someone else wanted for me. But I know me, I know what I want. And anything that doesn't feel right, I'm going to say it or I'm going to be out of that position.
Starting point is 00:58:20 Are you guys having marriage conversations or you're not even introducing that yet because you want to do this differently? Very slow. Girl, you cannot be out here, you know, and I can say this now. You know, it's almost do as I say not as I have done. Okay. That, yes, you talk about and you love someone, you automatically know we're girls. What do they say? Everybody says, oh, the gay girls, they move real fast.
Starting point is 00:58:43 Yes, I'm telling you, when you feel this kind of love, it's like, oh, my God, let's get a house. But you got to come back down to reality and, you know, just take it at a healthier pace. So that's what I'm doing. How you know what I'm saying? A phase, though. Your diet might change. Yeah, well, my diet changed on men, too, and then I divorced them when they were not good for me as well. So your diet can change with anything.
Starting point is 00:59:07 You know what I'm saying? And hers could change from me, too. You never know the future. It's so funny. People be under my post like, we'll see how long this lasts. Well, we'll see how long anybody's relationships last. A lot of people are getting divorces. A lot of people are whatever.
Starting point is 00:59:21 I don't know why it seems like I'm like the first person to be gay now. And I'm like, I'm not the first. It's 2026. But I think because people have known me so long on television, I think when they did see me with a woman, they thought, oh, she's just being freaky. It's something small. And I think now they're saying, oh, this is really.
Starting point is 00:59:41 really who she is and she's exploring it. So maybe people will learn that these girls who are on the down low and men who are possible on the down low, go ahead and live your life child. Don't worry about anybody judging you. This is your one life experience. Canadian women are looking for more.

You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. And rule two, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girlfriends.
Starting point is 01:00:45 I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care, so they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed. I will be his last target.
Starting point is 01:01:09 He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back.
Starting point is 01:01:31 I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians. Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leveh, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy,
Starting point is 01:01:49 really too many to name. And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Cara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more. Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. You related to the Phantom at that point. Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that. That's so funny. Share each day with me each night, each morning.
Starting point is 01:02:12 Say you love me. You know I... So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to Playing Along on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 2023, former bachelor star Clayton Eckerd
Starting point is 01:02:31 found himself at the center of a paternity scandal. The family court hearings that followed revealed glaring inconsistencies in her story. This began a years-long court battle to prove the truth. You doctor this day. particular test twice in so-ins, correct? I doctored the test once.
Starting point is 01:02:47 It took an army of internet detectives to crack the case. I wanted people to be able to see what their tax dollars were being used for. Sunlight's the greatest disinfected. They would uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing. Greg Alespie and Michael Marantini. My mind was blown. I'm Stephanie Young.
Starting point is 01:03:07 This is Love Trap. Laura, Scottsdale Police. As the season continues, Laura Owens, finally faces consequences. Ladies and gentlemen, breaking news at Maricopa County as Laura Owens has been indicted on fraud charges. This isn't over
Starting point is 01:03:23 until justice is served in Arizona. Listen to Love Trapped Podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You're so happy right now. Are you in love? I am. What's the difference between Portia,
Starting point is 01:03:40 the person in love and Porsche, I guess the brand? that's navigating these headlines in this reality TV world? Well, I tell you what, I'm definitely having to try to... Portia in love used to be mainly just focusing on that person and censoring them in my world across the board, right? Discounting me, it's all about I'm now in a relationship, this is me. Portia now, I'm very much in love with me.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Like, I love me. Like, I don't know what it is, but coming up on 45 is like, Damn, like, I just love me. Like, I love my mind. I love where I'm at. Well, you should lick herself this now, period. I love me. Brandon got ripped up over there.
Starting point is 01:04:24 Brandy went crazy. Lick your other hand. No, like, I do, and I think that, you know, this new appreciation for myself. And, you know, I used to celebrate myself a lot. I really didn't. My manager actually had to stop me and say, Portia, you never ever celebrate yourself. Like, did you hear what I just said?
Starting point is 01:04:46 She'll call me with good news. And I was like, okay, what should you say was next? I know, I celebrate every little thing. I don't care if it's just like I got up and got PJ to school on time and got to the gym that day. I'm celebrating that. When you do that and start to talk really positive to yourself
Starting point is 01:05:00 on a daily basis, you do fall in love with the person you're speaking about. But I used to speak so negatively about myself. I didn't really like myself. so I will only see myself through someone else's eyes and if they liked me. Right. But now I know if you, when she tells me she loved me, I know you love me. I know you love me.
Starting point is 01:05:19 I know you love me. I know you appreciate me because I appreciate me. And what's beautiful by this relationship too, in any relationship that I think is healthy is if that other person also loves themselves. Listen, I mean, her family would probably describe her the same way as me. We are very wrapped up in us. We love us. We take care of us.
Starting point is 01:05:38 and we invest in ourselves. And so that's just a power that's coming together. So me as a brand now being in love, I truly spread that through everything. Like I am exploring more with go naked hair. We've just surpassed 10 million in sales. Yes, yes, we did just surpassed $10 million in sales with Go Naked. We also just launched a line with Drew Sador.
Starting point is 01:06:02 She has a wig line with me as well. Cynthia Bailey has a wig line with me as well. I'm working on doing some more with some of the other. other housewives on go naked. You just put more into everything else. Right. You know, and so even with pampered by Porsche, like, I just feel like I'm able, once my cup is full, I can just pour a little bit here, pour a little bit, kind of everywhere.
Starting point is 01:06:22 So. You're getting a lot of money, though. Well. You're doing very well. I'm happy for you, though, because I feel like reality TV in 2026, like, it gets diluted sometimes. Yeah. But, like, you, your genre and your, like, your generation of reality TV, like,
Starting point is 01:06:36 what's your grandfather then? Yeah. Like y'all did it the right way where like your brain will always sustain like no matter who's watching how old or whatever. Thank you. You're welcome. When your daughter looks back at this like era of your life, right, what do you want her to be able to take away as a woman? I want my daughter and I think about that a lot, you know, because even when I left the show and I came back, I knew, okay, now I'm presenting myself again and she's getting bigger, et cetera. She just turned seven years old.
Starting point is 01:07:05 And I can already see her personality. She's a very strong person, strong-minded. She knows what she wants. And she's going to be very powerful. I just want her to embody that all through her life. Just know you are powerful. You are worthy. You can do anything you want to do.
Starting point is 01:07:23 It doesn't matter what you go through. She's going to grow up and see Mommy has been through a lot. Right. You know, but most of all, she's going to see that Mommy has fought for who she is. I have fought for my place in this industry. I have fought for my place in my mental health as a lot. beautiful strong person I fought for that. I've just fought for so many different things and I feel like resilience is most important.
Starting point is 01:07:45 But if she can just learn this one thing, if she could just have joy, if she can just really, truly be happy in her life and do what she is, what makes her happy, then I'll be good. Because I think even though you did say I make a lot of money and I do a lot of things, none of them take from my happiness. Once they start taking it from my happiness, they will drop off. So if she can live that life of just being happy and being able to be positive and give that out in her world and I'm be good.
Starting point is 01:08:13 I'm happy. That's so simple. Okay. Capital P.R. Portia Williams. Go get you some go naked hair. What's the website? Go naked hair.com and pampered by Porsche.

Starting point is 01:08:40 A lot of surprises and we're gonna be doing some crazy sales. So my TikTok name is PJ Mama. And yeah. And what wig did Lauren? You said Lauren needed a wig. What wig did you? I got a wavy one, but it was right before I cut my hair. You need some more?
Starting point is 01:08:52 I got you, girl. You got short. So you cut your hair for real? Yeah, this is my real hair. It was breaking off. So I just, I just, I just cut it. It's so pretty. I did not even think that was your hair.
Starting point is 01:09:02 Because I like, I will do a pixie little wig or whatever. No, I cut it. I was like, I just, want to start fresh and I was supposed to grow it out and I was like I like the shirt. No, I like it like it. It gives a little, you know. Yeah. And you can do a little one-two wig like on a weekend or vacation. She sent you some already.
Starting point is 01:09:15 I didn't. I have it. It's like, it's not a, I don't know it one time then you? No, I didn't. Literally once he finally gave it to me. Why you are telling her. I bought it right back. As soon as Kate you bought it.
Starting point is 01:09:25 I put it in here and then I think like that weekend I got my hair cut. Oh, okay. Yeah. So I never got a chance. But I still have it though. Okay. Well, when you get rid of your hair then. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:33 Lace fire too Well if you want some more Just let me know I got you I got you I did that to plug your wig line What I appreciate Charlotte may be neat
Starting point is 01:09:42 He does He dresses up sometimes That's what I say He's playing in your wig Yeah How do I dress up You put on wigs and stuff I don't put on the wigs
Starting point is 01:09:49 Her boyfriend got hip Ashley could see you Who boyfriend Wait you got a boyfriend Love in my life Oh I meant to ask you Oh my god
Starting point is 01:09:57 Now you're in a relationship Yeah I thought you were single She used to be too niggal So she cut one of the dudes off Now she got one dude Ain't not wrong with that. You ain't wrong.
Starting point is 01:10:05 She's been out the country a few times already. You're going to come to the podcast festival, right? No, no, listen. I'm talking to Ponsas. Yes. He'll be that. She's got out the country a few times already with the guy. First time she went out the country, the guy just asked her to be his girlfriend. They wasn't even girlfriend.
Starting point is 01:10:17 So he put up, you know, you be my girlfriend. He did a whole thing. It was a whole thing. It was so adorable. It was my birthday, too. Oh, I love that. I'd have been out of the country a couple more times. He ain't proposed yet.
Starting point is 01:10:27 We ain't asking him for the proposed. We ain't rushing that. Oh, I'm not rushing it. told me this morning she'd been out the country with mad different dude. I did not say that. She said it like it was a flex, but I'm like you ain't get no ring yet. I'm grown. She'll keep. How long have y'all been there? It's been a year. Like, a year? That we've been
Starting point is 01:10:40 dead in. It's time. No, actually we do not, that real. That's right. You know what? That's right. Now, let me. Hold on. And how long was y'all before y'all was actually official? Well, I combined it because November was my birthday. That's when the whole will you be my, you know,
Starting point is 01:10:56 that whole situation. Yeah, so now we're here. This is April. Okay, it's coming. It's coming. So we got a holiday coming up. We got November. Maybe this November. We've been very clear. I've been very clear about what I expect. Oh, that's romantic too. You see what I'm saying? If he ain't going to do to Italy, he ain't going to do it. It was his birthday. We went for his birthday. Oh, but he's falling on. But he's falling on. Oh, but he's falling. I'm going to have a good time with someone who actually knows. He wanted me to come back to Italy with a ring and a baby. I barely be hanging on here. Well, I would love that for you, though. It's going to happen. Yeah. I'm not worried about holidays. I'm going to have. I was going to have. I was. Who? 34. Oh my gosh, she's a baby.
Starting point is 01:11:33 Girl, slow down, yeah. Oh, she said she was? 34. It's only 34. Yeah. We are. Yes, I am. We got to love and say it now.
Starting point is 01:11:40 This is the thing. I feel like in this relationship that I am. 30. See what I'm saying. Champion. Okay. And the second one in the third. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:51 I said, don't do as I do. I do what I say. Okay. The rings were all great. You know, it was great to watch you. And this time, I wouldn't even care what the ring look like. I really wouldn't. Well, that's because you've had a lot of good ones.
Starting point is 01:12:03 Yeah, I don't care. I want a nice one. Oh, yeah, you need to have a banger. Oh, yeah. All that. You deserve it. It's coming. I doubt it.
Starting point is 01:12:11 But yeah, it's coming. Not past 35 because, you know, we're women, you know, we got to start having kids and all that. So, yeah, yeah. But yeah, maybe within this year, the end of this year or next year, he should do it. It'll happen this year. I doubt it. I doubt it. What you got it?
Starting point is 01:12:24 You want to put something on it? No, I don't. Oh, okay. But Portia Williams, thank you for joining. Thank you. Capital P, it's the breakfast club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren. Can we talk, L.L. Cube.
Starting point is 01:12:35 Yeah, I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself. Take me through that. Yeah, sources. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everything. Lauren. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that.
Starting point is 01:12:49 Take me through that. The latest with Lauren O'L. On the breakfast club. L.L. Coobay. Talk to me. So yesterday, Little John announced that he will be dropping his book, his memoir, which... Wow! Amazing!
Starting point is 01:13:07 Coming out via Black Privilege Publishing. That's drop on the Clues Bond for Lord John. Wow. Why don't you be telling us you be doing all this stuff? It popped up on my timeline. I texted him was like, congratulations. You've been on a run. I ignored you, right?
Starting point is 01:13:21 You did. So Little John's book is called I Only Shout So You Can Hear Me. It'll be coming out October 20th. And in the caption, little John says, for more than three years, him and the writer Paul Cantor have been working on this memoir. And he says he's really excited to finally share it with the world. He says, I started this journey to reflect on my life, tell my story, and look back on the accomplishments and experiences that have defined me. But along the way, the process reveals so much more. Truths came to light.
Starting point is 01:13:49 Secrets were uncovered. And I was forced to face the heartbreaking reality of my son's recent passing. This book is my truth, my journey, and my testimony. and I hope it resonates deeply with readers everywhere. He mentions that the link, yeah, the link for the book is in his bio. And I went to Paul Cantor's page, who was the writer that he mentioned. And Paul Cantor had wrote a caption. And in the caption, he says that initially, as the writer of the book and getting involved,
Starting point is 01:14:15 it was Little John's son, Nate, who encouraged Little John to work with Paul to do the book. So, yeah, it's going to be really special. So John deserves it all, man, cultural icon who provided the soundtrack to our lives when we was outside, still provides the soundtrack for us in our gym and this man is, you know, reinvented himself so many different times. And when you see him now, like you see him in the gym and you see him physically in shape,
Starting point is 01:14:36 that's because he mentally and emotionally, you know, got in shape. So salute the little John. Yes, salute the little John. And if you all to read his story. And also, congratulations. I saw Arsenio, Arsenio Hall, his book made the New York Times bestsellers list
Starting point is 01:14:49 and Brandy as well to. Rossinio Hall, another black privilege publishing book. Those words be eaten yet. That book is amazing. I know it is, yo. I've been seeing that book everywhere in every airport, every bookstore everywhere. So, yes.
Starting point is 01:15:06 Harsinia. Yeah. But that's the... He's 70 years old. He's a OG. He never talks. He's never told his story. So, you know, now that you put your memoir out,
Starting point is 01:15:15 everybody wants to talk to you. So he's been everywhere from Stephen Colbert to Joe Rogan to the view to the breakfast club. Like, he's done it all. I see him do sway yesterday. He did sway. That's right. Salute to sway.
Starting point is 01:15:24 Yes. Yes. Yes. man. Yes, congratulations. I'm excited to read it too. And he's so intentional about what he does. Like, you can't just get Arsenio Hall to do something.
Starting point is 01:15:34 Trust me when I tell you. So I'm glad that he decided to write his memoir. Yes. And I'm blessed that I was able to publish it. And Little John on the way. Is it okay to tell you congratulations for that? Why did you remember me? It's not about me.
Starting point is 01:15:47 Okay. Well, my book is on the way to your 428. So, Def, do we parent also on Black Privilege Publishing? What's up? What's up? And rotation. What's going on? Yep.
Starting point is 01:15:58 I got my pre-order, Jess. Lauren, please. Just go, just move on here. In other news. Not to let people at any moment. Your moment is coming, Jess. It's so awesome. In other news, guys.
Starting point is 01:16:07 So speaking of moments, Jay Cole had a short-lived moment because remember we talked about him going over to play for the Nanjing Monkey Kings. What? Nanjing Monkey Kings. That man is half black and half-white. You ain't had to call that man that.
Starting point is 01:16:21 Listen. That's so disrespectful. He went on over there. That was disrespectful. He went to go play in the Chinese Basketball Association and it was very short-lived. The Nanjing Monkey Kings. I'll fight a white person, they call me that.
Starting point is 01:16:36 I swear to go. So it was announced on April 1st. We talked about it here at the Breakfast Club. He made his debut on April 11th and now it is over. He will no longer be playing because of some issues that he had with a visa. He says in his online blog that initially he was
Starting point is 01:16:53 scheduled to play in at least three games for the Nanjing Monkey Kings of the CBA. But the work visa process took way longer than he expected, so he was only able to play in one game before he had to head back. Now, during that one game against the Gangzulung Lions, his stats read zero points in one rebound, one assist in about eight minutes. So he didn't get a chance to play any more games, but, you know, he's been on his blog reflecting about the time. I wonder what that bag was.
Starting point is 01:17:24 The shut down and go play three games in China? Did he play three? No, he was supposed to play three. He signed to play three. I wonder what that was. So he signed to play three. So he quit and apologized to his fans? He didn't apologize.
Starting point is 01:17:37 He just wanted to explain why it wasn't happening because remember he was supposed to do it. And he explained why he quit. He didn't quit the visa process. Oh, leave him alone. I see what you doing. What am I doing? All right. Well, I will say, NV, to your question, based on,
Starting point is 01:17:52 There were conversations about maybe him doing a year, but that was a two million dollar contract, but that was supposed to be like a year-long situation. And that didn't happen. But that's based on reports. That's too long. He'll make more money doing shows. Yeah, Torin. That's what I was thinking.
Starting point is 01:18:07 Maybe he's getting ownership of the team or a small percentage or something. Yeah. You know, we don't care about the money. He is so humble. He do not care. He will go over there and pay and play for free for the Monkey Kings. You can't be half white and own a team called the Monkey Kings. You got to change the name.
Starting point is 01:18:20 If you own the team If you get ownership of that team And you have white You got to change the name That's got to be number one Milato monkeys I don't like that easy I don't know if he's supposed to put those words
Starting point is 01:18:35 I mean he literally said He said he's the Malado king Yeah I think he doesn't say You got to respect this mulatto Yeah Malado king I don't like that either though But yeah that's better than monkey king
Starting point is 01:18:43 Jesus Christ I'm just curious Because how old is Jake old 40 something 40 years old His name's got to be Yeah he can't play a full season He'll be in pain He hasn't been training
Starting point is 01:18:52 He's 41 years old. He's always riding bikes and stuff. He cannot play a full season. A basketball is different. Not a bike season. Basketball rebounds, assists, dribbling. He is always riding bikes. You're right.
Starting point is 01:19:04 I wasn't trying to be funny. No, I know people who work out and they do bike rides every morning. And it's, I am darned today. Okay. We'll come back in the next latest. We'll have some conversation about some things going down in Atlanta with King Harris. All right.
Starting point is 01:19:22 Who are you giving you a donkey to, man? Listen, four after the hour is the reason I can't stop using the N-word. His name is Isaiah Walker. We'll discuss. All right. We'll get to that next. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Sholomain, say the gang. Don't get utter a shape. You are a donkey.
Starting point is 01:19:38 It's time for donkey of the day. Donkey of the day just not discriminated. I might not have the song of the day, but I got the donkey a day. So if you ever feel I need to be a donkey man, hit it with the heat. It's a breakfast club, bitches.
Starting point is 01:19:51 Who's don't keep of the today. Well, Ed Sharon, don't here today for Tuesday, April 14th, goes to Isaiah Walker of Arizona. Now, let me tell you something. Donkia today is therapeutic for me. Okay, it's therapeutic for me because I like logic, all right? And we live in a world right now where nothing is logical. And this gives me a chance to just bein about it. All right? When I say things don't make sense, they don't make sense. I truly believe that in the future, we are going to realize how all of this new technology, the way we consume information via the internet, via social media, has completely ruined. and sabotaged our neurological pathways.
Starting point is 01:20:25 Okay, completely disrupted our cognitive abilities in ways we don't understand. Okay, the way we think, the way we comprehend, the way we reason, the way we problem solved, the way we process information. We are going to find out how technology has made our cognitive abilities extremely low. Isaiah Walker's Exhibit A for me in regards to this theory because Isaiah, who is 20-something years old, was released from a correctional facility. And as soon as he was released, he started thinking of ways. to go back.
Starting point is 01:20:53 All right. See, when he got out of jail, he spotted a commercial car hauler. Okay, that was loaded with C8 Corvette. What is the C8 Corvette? NVee, you a car guy. It's a new corvette that just came out, I think about two years ago.
Starting point is 01:21:06 Okay. It's the newest model of the C8. All right. It was in that moment Isaiah decided he needed a ride. All right? Let's go to Fox 10 Phoenix for the report, please. Moving on this morning across Arizona. A suspect is behind bars in Cochee's County.
Starting point is 01:21:19 accused of stealing a semi-truck full high-end sports cars. Yeah, the suspect told deputies he stole the truck because he had just gotten out of prison and he needed a ride home. 23-year-old Isaiah Walker is accused of grabbing the semi-truck driver at a truck stop near Wilcox and throwing him out of the cab. Deputy Say Walker drove off with the semi, carrying nearly a dozen Chevy Corvette C-8s. The value, more than $1.25 million. Cochee's deputy and a Wilcox police officer pulled over Walker for driver.
Starting point is 01:21:49 driving recklessly. He's now facing serious charges. And this is why they call you nigger. Okay, I'm not going to let my cortisol levels get high this morning. I'm just going to bent, okay? Express what I'm feeling. $1.25 million in cars, right? In corvettes. And Isaiah Walker's reasoning for stealing them was he just needed to get home. He just needed a ride home.
Starting point is 01:22:15 Let me tell you something, Isaiah. Home is where the heart is. heart is clearly in a correctional facility. Okay, we're going to stop acting like prison isn't the best place for some people. And if it's not where you want to be, then why do you keep doing things to be there? All right? This guy literally just walked out of a correctional facility, just walked out of a prison. He said he just really needed to get home.
Starting point is 01:22:38 So he decides to carjack a whole car hauler full of corvettes. Now, all you need is one car to get home. Okay, it doesn't even have to be yours. Never in the history of life have you called Uber, Lyft, or any rideshare company, and they sent you a truck full of cars, okay? But this is what I'm telling you when it comes to logic. That doesn't exist anymore. Not to mention, he tried to get away.
Starting point is 01:23:03 Police got behind him because the description was easy. Hey, stolen semi-truck, tin brightly colored Chevrolet Corvette on him. Sheriff deputies were on his ass in seconds, and he refused to stop swerving the hauler across lanes, forcing other drivers to have to drive off the road and thank God he didn't hurt anybody. Okay, he eventually stopped, surrendered to law enforcement, and they took his ass home,
Starting point is 01:23:25 and by home, I meant jail. Okay, the police asked him what exactly did he plan to do with 10 brand new corvettes, and his answer was, he had no interest in the cars whatsoever. He had just gotten out of prison. He had no way to get back to Oklahoma and figured stealing a semi-truck
Starting point is 01:23:41 was a reasonable solution to his transportation problem. That was an exact quote. Jesus. If that sounds remotely logical to you, then do not pass gold, do not collect $200. Just go straight to jail with Isaiah, okay? I would rather him say, hey, man, I just got home. I'm not trying to get no job. I stole this truck.
Starting point is 01:24:00 I got these cars. I'm going to sell them to a chop shop. But to say, you did all that because you needed a ride home. Please give Isaiah Walker the sweet sounds of the hamletones. Oh, now you are the donkey. Damn. of the doggy. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:27 He didn't think that one through. See, I want to stop using the N-word. Nope. And y'all want me to stop using the N-word. But what am I supposed to say would niggas be niggin? Okay? But I'm trying.
Starting point is 01:24:36 But not for the reasons y'all want me to. I'm trying because I think, you know, N-words are immune to that word. And I'm looking for something stronger. Okay? I was watching the great show that is absolutely in my DNA. You see I got the T-shirt on the day, the boondocks.
Starting point is 01:24:49 I was watching it over the break. And Uncle Ruckus reminded me as why we shouldn't use the N-word anymore. And it's because we need something stronger. Can we hear it, please? No, I don't think we should use the word, and I'll tell you why. Because my-uhs have gotten used to it, that's why. Hell, they like it now.
Starting point is 01:25:03 You got to rotate your race of sludge. Now, I know it's hard because a f***er just rolled out the tongue the way sweat rolls off a figure's forehead. But we cannot let that be a crutch, especially when there are so many other fine substitutes. Spade, coach monkey, jigger boo. I say next time you're going to call a darky and a s'-hooker, call that cuna junger bunny instead.
Starting point is 01:25:23 I agree. Stupid Spade, illogical Jungle Bunny. Yeah. Yeah. I don't like those. I don't care what you like. You're Dominican. I'm not Dominican.
Starting point is 01:25:35 I don't like what the dumb-ass boy did. What? I have so many questions. Yeah. How are you going to hide? Like, were you going to hide? You're going to try to drive all the way to Oklahoma? See, that's your problem.
Starting point is 01:25:49 Y'all sitting around trying to figure out why niggas do what they do. You too. Shit. All right. And that's why niggas do what they do. Rhyn with Jigaboo. See? Okay.
Starting point is 01:25:56 All right. Well, thank you for that donkey today. Now, when we come back from the South Carolina Gamecox, we have Raven Johnson and Tanya Latson. That'll be joining us. They actually stopped through yesterday. They stopped through yesterday. Very important to say that right after they left the Empire State Building, they came over
Starting point is 01:26:11 the chat with us here on the breakfast clubs. It was before the draft. Raven got drafted to the Indiana Feeva. Yep. Last night. And Tenae Lapsin went to the Los Angeles Sparks. 20th pick, yep. Do you know that you're going to be drafted before?
Starting point is 01:26:23 Like, did they know when they were sitting there talking to you guys yesterday? No. They don't know. They don't know. They know they were going to get drafted. They don't know what round, what picks. No, I'm saying. Where?
Starting point is 01:26:33 Who are they? Like, do they know where they're going? No. I'm sorry, not drafted. Do they know where they're going? Yeah, you have projections. Their predictions are where they might go, but they don't necessarily 100% no. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:26:44 All right. I don't know. Well, I'll kick it with them next. So don't go anywhere. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ NV.
Starting point is 01:26:50 Jethelari. Shalermaine the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lauren Lowe is here as well. We got some special guests in the building from the South Carolina Gamecocks. Not just from the South Carolina Gamecox. They got drafted last night.
Starting point is 01:27:01 You know what I mean? They came to speak to us before they got drafted. But Raven Lassen is with the Indiana Fever, Tenaia Latson. I mean, Raven Johnson and Tijuana Latson is with the Indiana Fever and Tanya Latson is with the Los Angeles Sparks, respectfully. Good morning. How are y'all feeling?
Starting point is 01:27:14 Good. Amazing. Nine days ago, y'all was competing for the national championship. Now y'all getting ready for the WNBA draft. How is that whirlwind been? Man, it's crazy. It's like a dream come true. You know you dream of this moment, and now you're here.
Starting point is 01:27:26 So let's see what are we in take us today. But didn't it feel like y'all was just in college yesterday? Yeah. Basically. Yes. Yeah. It's a quick turnaround. Do you have to adjust to, like, I guess, being an adult now?
Starting point is 01:27:40 Yeah. The college don't be feeling like the real world, do it? Yeah. It's like closing one chapter and trying to, like, get into another one. Like, it's like a quick, quick turnaround. Mm-hmm. Yeah. What emotions are hitting you this?
Starting point is 01:27:51 day, Janaya. Tanya, God damn it. I'm sorry, to say T. That's why. Every time I see, I'd be like, what up, T? Tanya, I'm sorry. I'm excited. I mean, it's a blessing. It's a dream come true, like Raven said.
Starting point is 01:28:06 What about you, Raven? Man, I'm happy. You know, you work towards this moment, and now it's here. They're spending with loved ones and, you know, what team gets you. I'm ready, whatever team is. You all played in high school together. And they all reunited for your senior years,
Starting point is 01:28:21 South Carolina. What was that reconnection like? It was just like a surreal moment. We didn't think we was going to play college basketball again together. Like, well, play together at all again. So being able to play in our last year together, it was fun. We had a lot of fun. You know, we dreamed a moments like this. So just to be able to do it with her, it means a lot. What about you, Rip? When she hit the transfer portal, I was like, Tenaya, let's redo this. You know how it is. I want to play with her. It just feel like, I don't know, like a dream come true. Like in high school, I wanted to always, you know, I wanted to go to college with her,
Starting point is 01:28:54 but that didn't happen. She went to Florida State and was very successful. I went to South Carolina and I was successful too, but, you know, God does things in a way to bring close ones back together and it's no better feeling to just play with her the last season and do what we did. Hold that conversation like y'all senior years in high school and y'all decided to, I guess, not go to college together. Well, Raven, a year older than me, so she left and went off before I went off.
Starting point is 01:29:18 So I moved back to Miami and played basketball in high school there. But, you know, I just wished her the best. I knew she was going to do great things, win championships. But she knew I was going to Florida State, too. And I just went to go make a name for myself. Did you ever consider South Carolina at all before Florida thing? No, I didn't. Dang it.
Starting point is 01:29:36 I did not consider South Carolina. Why? Just because you're from Florida? No, I just really wanted to do my own thing. I wanted to venture out. I wanted to make a name for myself. And I am from Florida. So it's like, you know, hometown.
Starting point is 01:29:48 But, yeah, I mean, they had everything that I needed in order for me to be the best player that I could be. You didn't try to convince her, really? Oh, I try my best. But we had, like, what, 16 players on the roster then? I was thinking of her, like, been successful to playing, and I know that's what she wanted. So I feel like, you know, what she committed to was a great decision.
Starting point is 01:30:09 It ended all right. She came to South Carolina and it was meant to be. Have you ever seen back and thought about all the adversity you had to go through? You know, everything you went through in college, but have you ever thought about what that freshman year was and even how you rebounded from that? Yeah, I think about it all the time. It's crazy because we had like a little seminar and Tina Thompson was talking about adversity and she brought me up. I'm like, again.
Starting point is 01:30:31 But yeah, I think about it all the time. Like I went through a lot, a lot of high with the highs, a lot of lower lows. And just to be where I am today, it was hard to get through those phases. But I couldn't be here without loved ones or people that was in my ear supporting me because that could have turned out another way. I could have quit. I could have just been a person that I probably, you know, wasn't even people who didn't even know who I was, you know, they was like, you gain, what, 20, 30 pounds? I thought it was 40.
Starting point is 01:30:56 Yeah, I didn't want to say that. What you mean, man? It's a story of resilience now. You're right, you're right. You actually should say 50. 40, 50 pounds, I guess. I remember when tonight was seeing me, she's like, dang, you're happy to. That's a real friend, man.
Starting point is 01:31:10 That's a real friend. I mean, I had to tell her, you know, but she did. You know, I was just happy. She got it off of her, you know. What did you say to her tonight? Where'd y'all be each other? I was like, you're looking a little big now. Dang!
Starting point is 01:31:22 She did. No, she did. She did. I'm snatched now. Snatched. Yeah, she snatched. Did that motivate you to get in shape when she said that to you? Or you already had that motivation?
Starting point is 01:31:31 Yeah, no, I was trying to get back right. But I lost myself for a minute. Yeah. Sometimes you got to go through those low, like the bottom of lows to get to the high highs and be successful, honestly. And I think I'm glad I went through. diversity honestly because it made me mentally stronger. I'm sure it's some type of depression probably said in, right?
Starting point is 01:31:51 Oh, yes. Which caused you to gain the weight of stuff. Like, what was it? Because it was just an injury. It's not like you couldn't bounce back from an injury. Like, what was it that really put you in that mode? Social media. I mean, you know, with this generation, social media, it could be a good and a bad thing. And I think, you know, if you live by social media, you got to die by it, too.
Starting point is 01:32:08 And I think, you know, I went viral on social media. Like, every time you got on social media, you see Raven Johnson, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. You just sat in the third And it wasn't for a good reason It's for a bad reason So, you know, I didn't want to go I didn't want nobody to see me
Starting point is 01:32:21 Because everybody Look at social media And you know, everybody Just joke on our book Try to bully this person Don't even know the person Outside of basketball Like I'm more than just an athlete
Starting point is 01:32:29 Like you just don't know me I'm the sweetest person If you get to meet me But you know It made me like lose myself Like I just I never went through anything like that But I'm you know
Starting point is 01:32:39 Everything happens for a reason It's all God's plan How was that when you saw your dog Going through that I mean I watched that game, you know, when she got waved off and stuff like that. Obviously, I text her immediately after the game. I remember texting you and I was like, oh, nah, like you need to, you know, get your confidence back.
Starting point is 01:32:55 Like, get back to the Raven Johnson that I know, especially the one I played with in high school. So, I mean, I just tried to instill confidence in her and, you know, give her, you know, some type of pick me up. Because I know she was feeling down in that moment. I know she was going through a lot of emotions too. So I just had to try to remind her who she was. Was it hard to be receptive of stuff like that, even though it was from some. that loved you because you were actually going through it at the time yeah no I'm close with her yeah I know she means it from her heart but when it's people that I don't know you know I don't know
Starting point is 01:33:23 if it's genuine or I don't know if it's like you know they feel bad or they just trying to play in my face but you know I was getting I was listening to people that were close to me that I trust my loved ones but I also was listening to my teammates at the time which was letitia me here those Zaya cooks a little Boston coach staley who one of the best people you can even be around like she was in my ear too so Yeah, they mean a lot. We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends... Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck.

Starting point is 01:36:05 Say you love me. You know I... So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to playing along on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 2023, former bachelor star Clayton Eckerd found himself at the center of a paternity scandal. The family court hearings that followed revealed glaring inconsistencies in her story. This began a years-long court battle to prove the truth. You doctored this particular test twice in silence, correct?
Starting point is 01:36:37 I doctored the test once. It took an army of internet detectives to crack the case. I wanted people to be able to see what their tax dollars were being used for. Sunlight's the greatest disinfected. They would uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing. Gregal, Westby and Michael Marantini. My mind was blown.
Starting point is 01:36:57 I'm Stephanie Young. This is Love Trap. Laura, Scottsdale Police. As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences. Ladies and gentlemen, breaking news at Americopa County as Laura Owens has been indicted on fraud charges. This isn't over until justice has served in Arizona. Listen to Love Trapped Podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like after that championship game, right, I feel like Raven, you felt more bad for tonight.
Starting point is 01:37:36 Yeah, I was upset. I did, actually. I felt it hurt me because I told her that I wanted to win a championship for her. Like, she didn't come here for no reason. I know she made a lot of sacrifices throughout the season. Like, I'd be, like, I have so much heart for her. Like, things she doesn't win, it hurts me. Or things she doesn't receive, like, it hurts me because I know her sacrifices.
Starting point is 01:37:58 I know her heart of a worker she is. So not winning that championship, it was, it meant it was bigger than just me. Like, it was for people that came here, Medina. Like, they came here doing a national championship. It was for Coach Staley. Like, she goes through a lot. Like, she run through walls for us, girls. So I feel like just to reward her with a championship would have meant so much.
Starting point is 01:38:14 But, I mean, we reward her another way. Like we were great human beings to her. We fought for her like she fought for us. And I think, you know, there's no better way if we could have won the national championship. But we rewarded her in another way. And that's just being great human beings and great girls to her. Would you say y'all overachieved the last couple of years? Even though, you know, being a Gamecock fan, it feels like we should be in the championship every year.
Starting point is 01:38:35 But it feels like the last couple of years, they haven't necessarily projected y'all to be there, which y'all always make it. That's fine. I feel like, you know, I like to be, honestly, I like to be on the. the not the underdog. The underdog. If that makes sense. Like you don't come in with a lot of pressure. But I feel like with this team, we didn't look into all that.
Starting point is 01:38:55 Like we wanted, we had one goal. And that was to win a national championship. We might not win the SEC championship or we might have lost some games throughout the season. But that didn't stop us from one mission. And that was to get to the national championship. And I think those gangs made us closer. Those games made us actually realize, like, what we need to work on. Everybody needs to get better at one specific thing.
Starting point is 01:39:12 Everybody needs to start playing together. It was like little things like that. Like we had a whole new starting five. I was the only starter that came back. For a new starters, they don't even know the system. They had to get used to the system. They had to get comfortable with their roles. Like, it's different roles.
Starting point is 01:39:23 She came from Florida State scoring, what, 50 balls, 60 ball. They had to, what, come to score a 20 ball or 11 ball a night, and she's not used to that. But that takes a maturity. Like, she has to be mature to be in a role like that. Then Medina, she's not used to the pressure. She's not used to being that done. And you know post players that came before her, Leah Boston, Camilla, Asia Wilson. Like, she's holding a legacy, like people in front of her.
Starting point is 01:39:45 So she, I don't even think she understands. like what her position meant. She was just out there playing. And she had a lot of high with the highs and lower the lows, but she had teammates and girls like us who's genuine that want to see her succeed. And a coach like Coach Staley, once again, a great person who's helping her through those tough battles.
Starting point is 01:39:59 And I think that means a lot with this team. And that's why at the end of day, we made it to the national championship with a lot of daughters. That came to our bun. They came to, we wanted to go play for each other. I think that goes a long way when you're trying to have a team
Starting point is 01:40:12 to make a national championship. Tonight, did you appreciate the process? Yeah, I did. I felt like, you know, I had everything going for myself at Florida State, and I wanted to challenge myself. I asked God for a challenge, and he gave me that. So, you know, it was a sacrifice. It was obviously hard, but I wouldn't change my decision at all. I'll 100% do it again because I know going into the league, I'm going to need those things to prepare me. Training camp coming up, playing with other pros, not taking as many shots. You're going to hit that wall, but I'd rather have hit it in my senior year than in training camp.
Starting point is 01:40:45 You know what I mean? So mentally, I think it made me stronger, and it challenged me and it made me grow. So what did this year teach you about basketball beyond just scoring buckets? Yeah. You know you can do that. Yeah, that the intangibles matter, like rebound and getting a steel, making an impact in other ways than just scoring. Because when you playing on the team full of pros, you may not have to go score 20 a night to win a game. Like, you can go get a rebound or a still that can change the whole momentum of a game.
Starting point is 01:41:12 and just being like a good teammate too. Like I feel like I was a little selfish back then. Like I always thought about me, me, me, me, me and not we. So I think coming to South Carolina, it definitely changed my perspective on a lot of things. I saw you say coming to South Carolina was the best thing that prepared you for the WNBA. Yeah, it did. It did. I feel like just everything from the coaching, the resources, the nutrition, how to take care of my body, the resources.
Starting point is 01:41:36 So I feel like that's definitely going to translate to the league. Hot wings. The Raven said your nutrition was hot wings. I like hot wings to flat or drums yeah, you're all the time well you
Starting point is 01:41:48 y'all get balanced right the hot wings one day decelerate the next day she's from Atlanta so hot wings and her blood yep
Starting point is 01:41:54 hot wings fried chicken you can run it off you said what you can run it off you know I wanted to ask you you you being a
Starting point is 01:42:04 point guard playing for dawn step that's a different level of pressure like like like It looks like accountability on a different level.
Starting point is 01:42:16 Can you talk to us about that? Oh, it's hard. Like, I came to her. I'm like, why is she yelling at me? She needs to yell at the people that's making mistakes. Like, I get yelled at for other people's mistakes, and I had to get used to that. And sometimes it messes my head up.
Starting point is 01:42:31 I think, you know, calling plays off the top of my head. Sometimes she may call this play, and I may see something different and call another play. And I think that's where, you know, you got to trust your play. point guard on the floor, try to kind of be a version of her on the floor. But I think, you know, when it comes to my teammates, they trust me with leading them, calling the right sets and when to call them. But it's hard.
Starting point is 01:42:53 Like, you got a, the margin of room for error is very small at that point guard spot. Like, you better know, you better know your P's and Q's when it comes to the plays. You better know where people like the ball. You better just be somebody that can win, win a game, honestly, who she can trust. And I think, you know, that comes with time. A game manager. Yeah, that comes with time. Like from my freshman to, what, fifth year, senior year, I think that came with time.
Starting point is 01:43:16 They had people in front of me like Henny, Ty Harris, not even that. Zayette Cook, she showed me a lot too. So having people like that that showed me a lot of great ropes before it was my time or trusting the process. Tonight, what's something Coach Daly told you that changed how you see, not just the game of basketball, but yourself? Shoot, just everything. I feel like my all-around game, like, she taught me a lot about myself and just, like, how I can be impactful without scoring 20 a night.
Starting point is 01:43:41 or taking 20 shots tonight. You know, she talked a lot about efficiency and improving that. And she just instilled a lot of confidence in me. Like, coach was real laid back. Our relationship was way different from, you know, like, raving in her relationship. It was just like, I'm a laid back person. She's a laid back person. She's kind of like, I'm going to give you what you give me.
Starting point is 01:44:01 And you can have real, like, transparent conversations with her. She always just gave me freedom to be me. And I feel like that's what you want in a coach. And yeah, she gave me great advice. too. A couple last questions. Tanaya, if your younger self could see you now, what would surprise her the most? Sure, me being here.
Starting point is 01:44:19 I feel like, you know, it started off as a dream. So now that it's reality, I feel like she would just be so proud, so happy. And, you know, it was rooms that I didn't think I would be in. So, I mean, I know she would just be proud and happy of me. What about you, Raven? Yeah, she would be, my youngest, I was just a little skinny little girl. I just used to play basketball. What are the fat you say?
Starting point is 01:44:41 Yo, man. I don't even know who Fat Me is. She's out of the window. But the Fat Me would definitely be, she'd been proud. She would be proud. She'll be proud. I mean, she's like, dang, you got all the fat off. The little me, yeah, she would be very proud and never would have thought she would have
Starting point is 01:45:00 gone through adversity or meet people that's not like her who's bubbly. Like, been through a lot. But, you know, my little self would be like, I'm glad you went through those things. And just a young black girl. like you've been that young black girl to keep aspiring other black young black girls yeah black magic yeah
Starting point is 01:45:17 what's the moral of the story you want your your journeys to represent when it's when it when it's I want to even want to say when it's all said and done because y'all just getting started just getting started literally yeah let's let's cap it on the college then your college career so far
Starting point is 01:45:32 what's that moral of the story because you close that chapter you're starting a new one I want to be remembered as this person that you know that impact others. That was very nice all the time who met fans. I want to be remembered as, because you never know who you might meet.
Starting point is 01:45:48 I feel like you should always be nice to everyone because that person you meet, you may meet them in the future, and you may need them in the future. So I want to be a member as this genuine, humble little sweetheart and who likes to win when it comes to being on the court. So that's what I want to be,
Starting point is 01:46:03 a winner too. Yeah. That's what I want to be remembered. What about you tonight? Just like, I guess, like, how I present myself in who I am. Just mature. A good person.
Starting point is 01:46:14 Somebody that isn't afraid of change in growth. But yeah, I feel like just who I am as a person and how I present myself, I want to be remembered as somebody that, you know, took the game seriously and, you know, tried to be it as best I could. Raven Johnson, tonight, Latson, good luck tonight. I don't know, I don't even know what to tell y'all, because I want you to end up wherever y'all want to end up. Just watch the fit first.
Starting point is 01:46:40 Is that fire? Just washed the field. You're putting a lot on it. You're finishing. You're putting a lot on it. Tell them what to follow you. Oh, follow me on Instagram at CBG Tonight. And follow me on Instagram at Hollywood underscore Raven.
Starting point is 01:46:56 All right. It's Raven Johnson. Tenia Latsin is the Breakfast Club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren. Lauren becoming a straight fast. Tell her, maybe. She gets them from somebody that knows somebody. She gets the detail.
Starting point is 01:47:07 I'm a home girl that knows a little bit about everything. She'd be happy. having the latest on this. The latest with Lauren La Rosa. Sometimes you have facts, sometimes you have details, sometimes you have a little bit of everything. Well, it's the latest. Walk to you by Top Dog Law on the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:47:22 Talk to me. All right guys, so on Sunday, T.I. Sun King, he was arrested in Gwinnett County down in Georgia in a Pikachu outfit. And I want to clarify in a Pikachu outfit, like Pikachu, Pokemon. The Yellow outfit. Oh.
Starting point is 01:47:40 want to clarify some things. So right now, in a lot of the reporting, it's like, okay, King Harris arrested for controlled substance, and there's a firearm found. But what was weird to me, I'm like, I'm reading all of these reports, and I'm seeing the charges, and he was charged with nothing to do with a firearm, but they're making it seem like, you know, there's drugs, there's a gun, whatever. So I called the Gwinnett County Police Department,
Starting point is 01:48:04 and I asked him, like, can you clarify for me, why is a firearm even being mentioned if he wasn't charged for anything in relation to a firearm? So basically what they said to me is that when he was pulled over, he was pulled over for a traffic stop. He was doing 60 and a 45 mile per hour zone at 1 a.m. on Sunday. The cops pulled him over because of that. They noticed a firearm on the dashboard, but in Georgia. Open carry state.
Starting point is 01:48:25 Yes. You don't have to be registered. You can literally just have the firearm with you. Now, they tried to run his license, and I guess he didn't have his license on them. They tried to run the registration. The cops are claiming that there was something going on with the registration. So they come back to his car and they ask him to step out to have a conversation about the traffic violation. he refused to get out of the car.
Starting point is 01:48:42 So then, and the only reason he asked him to step out was because the firearm was in the car for safety, not because of anything else. He refused to get out the car to have the conversation about the traffic violation, which is when he was arrested. And, yeah, so people are, I don't know, the way it is being reported, I just thought was a little bit unfair. So he was booked on a felony charge for possession of a controlled substance because of a vapeen, a THC vapeen and a misdemeanor charge of willfully obstructing law officers
Starting point is 01:49:08 and then two traffic citations in a C bill. violation. That's not like some foolishness on behalf of law. Absolutely. Marijuana is illegal in Georgia. Yeah. Recreational marijuana. We have a vaping though. Yeah, it was a bait pen. And it's a substance, schedule two drugs. So it's defined as like
Starting point is 01:49:22 anything that could have, you know, that you would use regularly, but it could have potential abuse. Like it could be looked at something that you're abusing. Yes, that's what I'm trying to get to. Like a lot of the way that this was being reported was a bit unfair. Now King responded. But you buried the lead though. Why do the young king have on a
Starting point is 01:49:38 Pikachu outfit? Maybe because it was 1 a.m. and he was had it home. I don't know. You might be going to get some quick food. Hoping the car, get some quick food in the black. He had. It was pajamas. Yeah. You know, Warren made it say like he was a goddamn mascot coming from a party
Starting point is 01:49:54 or something or going to a party. I mean, I only saw the top half of it because it could have just been a hoodie, but it has like the Pikachu on the top. He posted some stuff to his instant story. He said Pikachu got pulled over. They're not catching his Pikachu tonight. He also posted some things going at the car.
Starting point is 01:50:10 too he said I guess you could say you caught Pikachu with a masterball they do got the Pikachu hoodies too though yeah that's why I didn't say pajamas because I only saw the hoodie I didn't know but it was a Pikachu fit yeah but you made it sound like he had on a costume yeah yeah like what Pikachu Pikachu Pikachu but yes so clarifying that now moving on to some other news so Nia Long you guys know
Starting point is 01:50:34 Nia Long and the cast of the Michael movie are everywhere right now promoting the movie so she sat down with the play boy and she got a little personal, not too personal, but a little personal. And she talked about dating younger and as she's open to it. Let's take a listen. There seems to be an uptick in women enjoying the company of younger men. Uh-huh. I like this idea. I'm a big fan of this. I love it. Why not? Have you been that a spin yet? See, I told you I'm not really out there. I got to get out there. You got to get on the apps. No. They do? They do. What's it called? Raya. I've heard of Raya. The people are on Raya.
Starting point is 01:51:10 I can't be on Raya because I wouldn't even keep up. They'll be like she's the flakiest date app person. Get her off of here. I'd probably be kicked off because I'd be like, mm-mm. That was a corny. Like, I'm so picky. Yeah. I do like younger, though.
Starting point is 01:51:24 I think there's something fun about younger. Young is fun. Young is fun. And they also go home. That's true. I like a go home. Yeah, they go home. She's saying young.
Starting point is 01:51:36 She's ain't that. She's 55. She's 55. Knees 55. GZZee, what, 46? 45? 47, I'm sure. She's a younger.
Starting point is 01:51:45 She ain't say how much. GZ's 48. Okay, yeah. They go home, but they leave herpes. Do you know that? What? One and six people ages 14 to 49 in the U.S. have genital herpes.
Starting point is 01:51:55 I just want to tell you all OG women out there that. Okay? Damn. Didn't you tell Lauren stop leading on, leading with negative or something like that? Why would you? I'm a hate on any young boy getting with Nia long. I hate her.
Starting point is 01:52:08 Yes, sir. Yo. And it's so sad What the hell he did to deserve that? This guy right here She goes home He ain't trying to build the house She also
Starting point is 01:52:19 She also talked about the fact that like She wouldn't mind living separate From like her person, her partner Let's take a listen I think Carol Burnett Or maybe it was Jane Fonda Basically what she said is Is if I ever get married again
Starting point is 01:52:34 He needs to live next door And I kind of like that idea Whoopi Goldberg said that once. I don't want a man in my house. I think Carol Whoopi and Jane probably all said that. I know Whoopi said it because I know Whoopi. She's fine with her Gardinias and herself. Whoopi Goldberg, Nia Long, Jane Fonda.
Starting point is 01:52:54 I mean, well, Nia said she'll date younger, but there's been like a trend of like a lot of women of a certain A-Sin. I want you, but not all the time. The older women, I can understand it. They've been there, done that, all these relationships. They got their own independence. like they need their time to breathe, their space and all of that. But like, I can't understand why the younger girls who haven't even been, you know, haven't even experienced what being in love and committed love feels like is saying that.
Starting point is 01:53:21 I understand Jane Fonda, Curle Burnett, Dolly Pard, you know, all the older women is saying that. You know what y'all say older? You're talking about like older, like Jane Fonda's 88. 88. But Whoopi Goldberg is so old. Yeah, old. Like, I don't really know why Nia putting her name in that. Yeah, it's 55.
Starting point is 01:53:36 Whoopi Goldberg, 70. I think Carabinette passed away He's too hard Oh my God I don't know Either way I'm asking I don't know
Starting point is 01:53:45 I said I think Okay She's still alive I think the gist Though what I was trying to get to Is like over the last like year I've been hearing a lot of women I feel like from like 40
Starting point is 01:53:53 And up being like I want you but not all the time Oh yeah Carabinette 92 She's still around Yeah so Neer going longer And you can't stay tonight That's the later
Starting point is 01:54:01 That's the later Wow The Michael movie movie will be out on April 24th Okay Any, and I have to mention the sponsor as well, too. That's brought to you by. Top Dog Law.
Starting point is 01:54:11 Any accident, big or small, call Top Dog Law. All right, that's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Just hilarious. Charlamia Guy. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:54:20 Salute to Portia Williams for joining us this morning, of course, from Real Housewives of Atlanta. Capital P, man. I love Capital P. Capital P got great energy. You know what I'm saying? You ain't going to never be around Portia Williams and not see or feel that light. Yes. You know, I know y'all watch reality television and y'all might have.
Starting point is 01:54:36 have y'all pre-conceived notions about somebody like Porsche but Porsche is a great person she got really good energy and when my daughter was in the hospital last year to end of last year actually Porsche sent a nice gift for my daughter and I'm just very appreciative of it but that's what I'm talking about just and it was
Starting point is 01:54:52 she sent it and I'm just really appreciative my daughter was it was just very very heartfelt so thank you Miss Porsche away see what I'm saying? That's so crazy now that you say that yeah when I was coming back from attorney leave she was like and pouring into me empowering me and everything let me know I was still funny and beautiful and all that yeah Porsche is a vibe every time that's so funny yes she sent your daughter remember that what she sent her blanket me no some
Starting point is 01:55:15 toys and stuff from no you know what she said my doing some toys and stuff from um trying to think where she sent it from but she sent him some toys and stuff so that's my daughter came home she had you know teddy beer she had some toys to play with so it was just pretty dope like just just just thinking of us during that time was just really really dope so fire salute to Porsche and also salute to Raven Johnson and to Nia Latson last night they got drafted in the NBA. My girls, man. She's Indiana Fever
Starting point is 01:55:40 and Tania is playing for the Los Angeles Park. So salute to those women for Jordan. Let me tell you something. Raven Johnson is a winner, right? Like she got like four state championships in high school, two national championships with the South Carolina Gamecox. She's been to what, four national, three national
Starting point is 01:55:56 championship games? Three. Yeah, three national championship games. I think that they're going to win the WMBA championship next year. I think the Indiana Fever. I actually picked the Indiana Fever to win it last year, but then Caitlin Clark got hurt, but they made it all the way to the semifinals before they lost to the Las Vegas Aces. Raven Johnson, Leah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, boy, I wouldn't be surprised
Starting point is 01:56:25 if Raven comes in there next year and they win a championship with the Indiana Fever. First year. It's going to be great times. Got a lot of great plays in the WMBA. Yes, indeed. Now, today's your son's birthday, right? yes my son is turning 14

Starting point is 01:56:53 and I don't know why I'm more nervous than he is like for me to meet them or whatever but apparently they've been dating for three little months and he wanted to make sure it was right so that's just so funny my son is growing up. For those who've been day one, Justelarius fans, y'all remember
