Starting point is 00:02:56 How are you? Are you good? You're going to have a breath. She did ran in here. Yes, Jess' book came out yesterday, and I know you were all type of interviews yesterday, all type of press. How was that?
Starting point is 00:03:06 Yeah, it was great. It was great. Honestly, I did Tamara Hall show. Okay. That was fun. Oh, my God. The way her audience received me. I felt like I was walking out to a comedy show.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Dope. It was so dope. Because, you know, they don't know. Her guests are, they don't know who they're seeing until they're there. Right. You know what I'm saying? So I was like, oh, my God, I hope it's not like a bunch of people who don't know me or who, man, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:29 walked out, I could have did like a 50 minute set right there. She read the book. It was fire. Man. The book is out now, though. So, Def Do We Parent. I'm excited. My husband took me to celebrate the release of it yesterday. He took me to... Mexican restaurant again? No, he took me to the Crane Club. I don't know who y'all... Yeah, you know...
Starting point is 00:03:45 You don't get always going out and stuff. So, yes. Excellent service. I love that it was dope. And then, yo, my husband drove me to Broadway, and I forgot the Cross Street, but I'm on a billboard. My book, So Deaf Do Be Parent, is up.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Yo, it was streamers out there. It was like a bunch of just like people of all ages. They were like, that's you. They know this. That's you. That's your book. That's your book. People who don't even know who I am.
Starting point is 00:04:13 People who do listen to Breakfast Club. People who know me from Wild and out. It was just like, it was so many people. That's dope. Oh, my gosh. So I got bags out of my eyes because I was crying. It was just really, really dope. Dope, dope.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Well, congratulations. It's a great release day. Congratulations. Thank you so much. Let me tell you something. Yesterday, uh, I, saw an instant classic movie.
Starting point is 00:04:33 One of my favorite... It's already one of my favorite movies of all time. Really? What movie is? It's called One Spoon of Chocolate. Okay. It is a Quentin Tarantino presents film written, directed, and produced
Starting point is 00:04:46 by the Riza, starring Shameek War. Really? Oh, my God. I watched it twice yesterday. Really? Yes. Because I was coming back from Miami yesterday, so I watched it on the plane, and then I watched it again when I got home because I had to watch it on the beach. They set the screen up? they sent me to screener
Starting point is 00:05:00 I don't know Did they send you to screener? No, they didn't seem to me. I didn't look. Oh my God. Really? Listen, it's just my personal taste of all time. I didn't say, I didn't stop saying it.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I said one of. It's already one of one of my favorite movies of all times. What would you compare it to? What's the genre? Like, is it action? Action thriller, horror. Yeah, action thriller horror.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yeah, setting a, setting a societal setting. I'll say that. Listen. Oh, see, oh, my God. Let me tell you something. Drop on the clues bond for Shemeek Moore. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Listen, it's one of my personal favorite movies. I watched, like I said, I watched it twice yesterday. Damn. It's damn near two hours long. Okay, so I spent four hours of my day watching the same movie yesterday. Oh, that's good. That's good, because my daughters have dance this weekend, so between there and I got something. I can watch.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Listen, Michael Jackson must want us in theaters because his daughter is in this movie. Really? Yeah, Paris Jackson. Yeah, Paris is in this movie. Wow. So Michael Jackson must want us in theaters because he had us in theaters last weekend, and now you go to see one spoon of chocolate this weekend because his daughter is in it.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Okay? That is dope. Oh, my God. I'm definitely going to watch out. Man, I can't even talk to y'all about it because y'all ain't seen it. I know. You can't talk to nobody about it until they see it. All right. Well, let's get the show cracking.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Former NBA player, John Starks will be joining us. Former in New York Knicks. He'll be joining us. I think he handles alumni and community relations with the Knicks. He'll be joining us. He also opened up a bunch of car dealerships, and we'll talk to John Starks in a little bit. And then we got front page.
Starting point is 00:06:28 News. Now, today is Master P's birthday. We got some P? Oh, the legend P? That's a good way to start. There we go. All right, there we go. Front page news is up next week. See, Talk to Meek, so don't go anywhere as Master P. Happy birthday, P! It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jess O'Lariah,
Starting point is 00:06:44 Shalamee, Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news. Start off with sports. Now, last night, the Knicks beat the Hawks 126-97. The Knicks looked damn good last night. So, soon to the next. Okay, I was like, okay. All right. Knicks looked good last night. He was watching the game on y'all date?
Starting point is 00:07:01 No, yo. We came home. Oh, you got the end of it then. Yes. Yeah, the end of the game. Yeah, we had dinner at 6. Okay. The game started at 8 o'clock.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Yeah, it was fine. We were when I was by now. All right. The 76 is beat the Celtics 1-13-97. And the Spurs beat the Trailblazers. 1-14-95. They eliminated the trailblazers. What's up, Mimi?
Starting point is 00:07:22 Good morning. And V.E.J. Jardleman, how y'allam this morning? Good. Good morning. So we start this morning with the government shutdown and a warning that federal workers are about to miss another paycheck. Jesus. So the standoff, yep, overfunding for the Department of Homeland Security has now dragged on for more than two months.
Starting point is 00:07:40 And the emergency money being used to pay those workers is now about to run out. So that means thousands of federal employees, including TSA agents, Coast Guard members, even the Secret Service could soon stop getting paid. Now, lawmakers, they have been fighting for weeks over how to fund DHS. but they still do not have a deal. And all of this is happening as tensions in Washington are already running high, especially after this weekend shooting at the White House correspondent's dinner. Now, authorities say that suspect, he was targeting Trump and officials connected to him.
Starting point is 00:08:14 And now that incident, it is sparking, though, a larger debate about political rhetoric and who's responsible for the tone. And the White House is going after Charlemagne. You, Charlemagne, after you suggested that President, and Trump is, quote, the drama. Let's listen to what you have to say about that. Because the fact, whenever something like this happens to Donald Trump, whenever there is an assassination attempt,
Starting point is 00:08:37 whenever there is some type of political violence that happens at, you know, one of these events, people always say, so are we going to tone down the violent rhetoric towards Trump? Stop it. Like, I'm sick of that narrative. I need every single media personality to direct that energy and that question towards one person. and one person only, and that person is President Donald J. Trump.
Starting point is 00:09:00 At what point do people simply say, hey, Trump is clear that you're the drama. What I say wrong? Or. So what they say? What they say? What are they going to do? Well, the White House, they did issue a statement in response to those statements made by Shalema and saying, quote, vile political rhetoric like this is extremely dangerous and life-threatening.
Starting point is 00:09:25 It's unhinged commentary. Charlemagne the gods that inspires political violence and he should be especially mortified of his words given this weekend's egregious attempt against the president and others in his administration. I don't know what to tell them. I'll just say what I said before. The Trump administration has caused so much pain to people's everyday lives that some folks are fed up and willing to risk it all. Simple as that. And if you're going to talk about anybody toning down violent political rhetoric, start with the president. Donald J. Trump. I'm really so surprised how they dive into what the press says or what media personalities say all the time. Instead of focusing on what could help the country, right?
Starting point is 00:10:05 What the problems are that people are saying that they don't like. What the problems are, the reason for this gentleman, not to say that is right, but the reason why he thought he could or he wanted to do that, like the reason why people are stressed out, the reason why people are having problems, instead of diving into media personalities and journalists that are critiquing. That's right.
Starting point is 00:10:21 And I want to salute the TSA agents. I was coming home from Miami yesterday. yesterday, they wanted me to make sure to tell people they probably won't be getting paid on Friday. You know, you really feel bad because, you know, I'd be talking to folks. I'm asking them how they're doing. And they was like, not good. Not good because we're probably not going to get paid on Friday. Yeah, salute to all the TSA agents.
Starting point is 00:10:41 A lot of them been hitting me. And they basically said the same thing. They say any little bit of stress reliever will definitely help, whatever that is. But they say, no, they're not getting paid and they have bills just like everybody else. Yeah. So it sounds like there's bigger problems for the administration. to be focused on like paying people and things like that. And switching gears just a little bit,
Starting point is 00:11:03 former FBI director James Comey, he has been indicted again, but this time over a social media post. So federal prosecutors say a photo he shared of seashells arranged to read 86-47 was a threat against the president. So in case you didn't know, 86 is slang that can mean get rid of and in some cases apparently kill,
Starting point is 00:11:25 47 refers to Trump. Here is acting attorney general Todd Blanche. The grand jury sitting in the Eastern District of North Carolina returned an indictment against James Comey on two counts. The first count is at honor about May 15th of last year. He knowingly and willfully making a threat to take the life of and to inflict bodily harm upon the president of the United States. Count two, same day, May 15th, 2025 that the defendant, James Comey, knowingly and willfully transmitting and interstate commerce a communication that contained a threat to kill the president of the United States. Both of
Starting point is 00:12:01 these counts carry a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years. So he gets indicted for putting the term 86, which means to throw out our discard, but the president can say he's going to wipe out a whole civilization and there's nothing.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Yeah, yeah. And really quickly, Comey, he responded to that. Let's listen really quick what he had to say. Well, they're back. This time about a picture of seashells on a North Carolina beach a year ago. And this won't be the end of it. But nothing has changed with me. I'm still innocent.
Starting point is 00:12:36 I'm still not afraid. And I still believe in the independent federal judiciary. So let's go. And what's this retaliation for, Mimi? Well, you know, James Comey was the FBI director that went after President Trump, rightfully so, back in day with the, you know, know the Russia investigation and things like that. And so he's,
Starting point is 00:12:59 this is the second attempt to prosecute one of his biggest political opponents. And after social, seems like, I don't know, you guys should go look. It's a social media post with seashells on the beach. Yeah, I just want people to know that this is just pure retaliation and revenge
Starting point is 00:13:14 for what James Comey did to Trump. Yeah. So there you go. That's the first half. And I just wanted to say quickly to, gas prices are going up. As of today, prices are now at their highest level. level in four years. So if you're filling it at the pump, you are not imagining it. It is going
Starting point is 00:13:30 up and it's all, of course, tied to the war in Iran. And coming up at seven, new fallout this morning in the fight between the White House and late night TV. And now the FCC is stepping in. We'll break down what's happening and why it matters. It's just nonstop. I mean, every day he putting his foot up the American people's ass in some way, shape, or form. You just went from gas prices to him weaponizing the FCC against a thwart. a network and a TV host. Lord have mercy. It don't stop.
Starting point is 00:13:58 All right. Is America great, guys? Get it off your chest. 800-585-105-1. If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open. It's the breakfast club. Come morning.

Starting point is 00:15:08 Yeah, some of us ain't seen the movie, man. I'm like, who the hell is Bill? Yeah, yeah. Threw me off at first. But then when she said, he told about the Michael. So Michael's security's name was Bill. And if you know Michael's story, Bill, his security guard was kind of like Michael's father and helping raising him and everything.

It's about them empowering like the next generation of women that are walking into like, you know, these like big rooms. But it's accelerate her. But Kamala Harris will be there.

I'll be there for two days and I'll get to see Kamala speak so I'm going to bring someone back on to the show. Yeah, last year, I think. they had Tyler Perry, Katanji Brown Jackson.

Starting point is 00:23:32 and he's talking about making it to the other side of hip-hop and what that should sound like. So we won't get into it. All right. We'll get into that next. Don't go anywhere. It's the record. Canadian women are looking for more.

Starting point is 00:25:29 We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends... Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care. So they take matters into their own hands.

I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.
Starting point is 00:26:59 Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Let's love, good morning. You're talking L.L. Cube. Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself. Damn. I'm being myself. Yeah, source is my. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everything.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that, take me through that. Where is she going? The latest with Lauren Lewis. On the breakfast club. L.L. Coobeck. Talk to me. So the New York Times dropped their list of the 30 greatest living American songwriters. Jay-Z is on this list along with Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Missy Elliott, Lionel Richie, Dolly Part and Young Thug, Babyface, Outcast, Mariah Carey, Kendrick Lamar.
Starting point is 00:27:51 dream, Jimmy Jim and Terry Lewis, Bad Bunny, Smokey Robinson, Lana Del Rey, and there's a few others there as well, too. I want to know how they came to the conclusions about that list, because respectfully, how does Young Thug get on that list? I like Young Thug. I'm just saying the greatest living songwriters in American history, that means all genres. And not just not just the last couple of years. You're talking about forever?
Starting point is 00:28:15 Forever. How to Doug get on. I love Doug, but Doug over Naz, you know what I mean? I ain't even just talking rap. Like, there's just so many different people from so many different daughters who write incredibly. I just want to know how did they come to the conclusion about Thug. So we can get into that.
Starting point is 00:28:32 But before we get there, I want to talk about because they did a few exclusive interviews with some of the people from the list, including Mariah Carey, Babyface, and Jay-Z. I want to get into some of that audio. So they sit down and have a conversation with Jay-Z and they're talking through some of the songs that he's written and just like career things.
Starting point is 00:28:48 And he talks a lot about, making it to the other side of hip hop as you age. Let's take a listen to Jayze on fighting against the future. I tell people all the time, never fight against the future. Future's coming. Artists, they were trying to recreate something that was already done. But they're not connected to it like that. They're not living it and breathing it.
Starting point is 00:29:07 They were fighting against gravity as opposed to telling their story. We needed that other side. We needed to hear about what happens when you've had four successful albums. How do you make the next one? How did you get in the studio? You know, how are your kids? Like, how do you interact with them? There's this hip-hop dad.
Starting point is 00:29:25 But if you're trying to make young music and you're not young, it's going to be inauthentic, and people could feel it. So the best thing that anyone can do, like, going through music is to tell a story. I love what the clips are doing right now and how it's authentic to them. And they tell them the story about their mom and dad who just passed away and how deep that is. With John Legend singing on the chorus and, like, it's an authentic display. what Jay-Z said is 100% true and it doesn't just apply to music like that's a life lesson
Starting point is 00:29:54 like you have a lot of older people who feel like they have to appeal to the youth and if you 40-something still trying to relate the 20-somethings by acting like you 20-something and talking like you 20-something and moving like you 20-something yes you look lame as her and he also
Starting point is 00:30:08 he talks about some of the things that like he let go as he got older let's take a listen to Jay-Z on let's take a listen to the second Jay-Z audio My locations have changed, but who I am as a person and what I believe in, none of that's changed. Things I believe to be true, maybe young, I don't believe so much.
Starting point is 00:30:30 You know, a lot of street codes and things like that may have messed with our emotional intelligence. Money over holes. That's a terrible concept. It sound good. So, yeah, some of those things change. But the foundation of the struggle, I'll fight to be recognized in a country that does, and see us in that light. Those themes and emotions
Starting point is 00:30:52 I still try to convey them. He's right. Like show me growth. Talk to me about fatherhood. Talk to me about being a husband. Talk to me about the work you've done on yourself to be a better man. And what's crazy is those youngans
Starting point is 00:31:03 will rock with you anyway if you were just true to yourself. If you're really growing and evolving and showing people what the other side of life looks like gracefully, then those young people will, you know, they'll look up to you. Young folks are always looking for someone
Starting point is 00:31:15 to aspire to be like. They can't have that if all the OGs, is out here, I can like them. Yeah, very much. So now, Mariah Carey is also on the list. And they sat down for an interview with Mariah Carey, and I was actually interested in hearing a lot of what she said because I didn't know, I mean, when I think of Mariah Carey, I instantly think of her as like a person that puts together her whole persona from the writing to the branding
Starting point is 00:31:36 to, you know, everything. But she says that a lot of people don't mention her as a songwriter. And that's like one of the things that, like, gets to her. Let's take a listen to Mariah Carey on a songwriter. I feel like for a long time, people didn't even acknowledge me as a songwriter. But also I want to pay tribute to the people who do make me feel like I'm worthy. Yeah, I hate it. I mean, it's obvious.
Starting point is 00:31:56 I've said it many times. I'm a singer-songwriter. I'm a singer-songwriter from the very beginning of my career. But it's still hard for me to say, yeah, I think I'm so good at songwriting. See, if I said something like that, that would make me sound arrogant and I don't want. I do believe that I'm a seasoned songwriter. and we've had hits and all the things. But I'm not sure exactly how to say,
Starting point is 00:32:22 okay, this is what I need them to tell me as a songwriter so that I feel better about myself because people hate on me, therefore I need to have a pat on the back. I mean, if you got 19 number one singles, I mean, I'm sorry. Like Mariah Carey has 19 number one singles. She clearly knows a little, knows how to do something with her pain.
Starting point is 00:32:43 But I wonder what the songwriter, is it also getting help, right? because we know Beyonce's a songwriter. We know Nas is a songwriter. We know Jay Cole is a songwriter. Drake is a songwriter, although he does get help in times. He's not American, though. American.
Starting point is 00:32:56 He's Canadian. I got a Canadian tuxedo on right now, by the way. You do? But, yes, he's not American. But, you know, Nas, Beyonce and some of those other Jay Cole, some of those other people that, you know, have a pen game. I'm just curious how they didn't make the list of what decided who made this. Germain Dupree.
Starting point is 00:33:12 So I'll go through, so now we can. Jimenez Dupree's whole team. Ryan Michael Cox and Mariah Carrick talks Mariah Carey talks about Germain DePri a lot in her interview So the New York Times magazine List of 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters
Starting point is 00:33:28 Is composed by over 200 The polling of over 200 music industry insiders Including artists, critics, historians, producers who submit ballots with over 700 nominees So there are six critics who then debate these nominations To select the finally unranked list and they have a list of who the critics are. So you have expert polling that this breaks down into.
Starting point is 00:33:49 So these ballots were sent to hundreds of experts across the music industry. You have debate and selection, which is done by the Times critics once they gather down the final 30. You have a definition of a songwriter. So the list heavily favors artists, songwriters, are recording artists who write their own material and have achieved significant commercial success in the industry. What about if you get help with the writing? Because a lot of these artists, especially the R&B artists, and not even just R&B artists, the rappers, Drake, they get help with the writing as well.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Yeah, even Taylor Swift in her interview, she talks about how when she's in the studio, she's making songs. It's not about just her ideas. Whoever has the best ideas, she's willing to go for it. So she even kind of, she admits that in her interview. But like even, no disrespect. Like even Thug, how do you pick Thug over Tia? Yes, where is Thugs? I need to hear Thugs interview.
Starting point is 00:34:31 And I got to no knock the thug whatsoever. I just don't think, I just don't think pin game. Well, listed right now, there's no video interview for Young Thug, Thug. But on the actual website of the list, they talk about how whether or not hip hop should be melodic. And they talk about how young thug and his sound help to structure hip hop as being melodic in his era. Because in the early years, people weren't really for sure. More than future in this era? And it says that the uncertainty became a tug of war between rap verses and things that were sung, often sample hooks.
Starting point is 00:35:02 So they're talking about, I guess, like, the influence that they feel like young thug has had. But also melodic is sound. I'll give thug that all day when it comes to the sound. But we're talking about writing. Yeah. We're talking about the pen. But they just. Melodic and the pen is two different.
Starting point is 00:35:14 I'm not mad at him on the list, but I think there's other artists that prove themselves a lot more, right? Like, T.I, for example, like, T.I. has done this, what, a decade in 20, 20 years? And at this age, he has the number one hit. Like, you got to put those people in on there. I'm just confused. I just want to know how they came to the young thought conclusion. Canadian tuxedo is what you have. Denem on denim on denim. D denim on denim. For real? Dendum on denim on denim. Yes. Well, yeah, I mean, if you guys want to check that out, you can go watch those interviews. on the Times website. But congratulations to the people that, you know, did make the list.
Starting point is 00:35:49 So when Canadians get married, they wear denim, like the groom, like they wear denim? No, it's just their term that jean suit is, they call it a Canadian. Tell death do we parent a book available everywhere now. I know, I know, I know, it doesn't sound like she probably could write a book,
Starting point is 00:36:05 but tell death do we parent by Jess L.Irissus. Wow, Char. Out of right now. Even L.L. Cool, Jay, as a writer. Like, I think there's a lot of people you can argue on this list. All right. Well, that is the latest with Lauren.
Starting point is 00:36:17 Now, when we come back, we got front page news. You got Thug Tia? Ain't about the money. Let's get that on. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's D.J.N.V.
Starting point is 00:36:25 just hilarious. Salomey and the guy. We are the breakfast club. Let's get back in some front page news. Now, some quick sports last night. The Spurs eliminated the trailblazers. They won 11495. 76s beat the Celtics.
Starting point is 00:36:37 The next. What happened, Atlanta? Huh? What happened, Atlanta? They beat the Hawks last night. 126. 97. Now you don't don't get too cocky, but the Knicks can Nick.
Starting point is 00:36:48 You're right. You're right. That's why I want to say it, but they've been talking to me crazy the last couple days. I just wanted to talk it back. What's up, Mimi? Good morning, guys. How y'all doing this morning? Good morning. So we start this hour with a major media showdown involving the White House, late night TV, and federal regulators. So the FCC is now stepping into the fight between the Trump administration and Jimmy Kimmel.
Starting point is 00:37:10 So the agency has ordered Disney, the parent company of ABC to file early license renewals for all eight of its TV stations. Now, those licenses, they were not due until 2028, but now Disney has 30 days to start the process. Now, the move comes after Melania Trump and president, Tronoff, they publicly called on Jimmy Kimmel to be fired over a joke he made about the first lady on his late night show. Let's remind ourselves about that joke. Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at it. So beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a gloom. like an expectant widow.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Okay. That was a joke. Well, the FCC, they're trying to say that the review has nothing to do with that, but it stems from an earlier investigation into diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Starting point is 00:37:55 Last month, FCC chair, Brendan Carr, suggested that Disney's support of DEI programs and their hiring practices could cost them their licenses. But critics, including other FCC members, say this looks like retaliation. Duh.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Anna Gomez, yes, is the only Democratic commissioner of the three on the committee. And this is what she had to say about all of this. Let's listen. This is the most egregious assault on the First Amendment that we have seen from this FCC. It is unprecedented. It is unlawful. And it is bound to fail. And I'm glad to see that Disney is going to push back because it has the First Amendment on its side. Well, it would be a shame if anybody gives in because capitulation does not actually lead to protection. We have learned this in multiple instances. Capitulation leads to more demands from this administration.
Starting point is 00:38:47 So what we need is for broadcasters and networks like Disney and ABC to push back and to stand up for the First Amendment. You know, that right there, this whole situation is actually why no media personality who cares about the First Amendment should have been at that White House correspondent's dinner. Like, why are you sitting down playing nice within an administration, with an administration that? that's literally trying to destroy the institution of media. How are you there listening to people trade light jokes, you know, about a regime that is literally trying to reshape broadcasting. They threaten to revoke your license whenever you don't cover President Trump in a positive light. They threaten to revoke licenses over Iran war reporting.
Starting point is 00:39:28 You know what I mean? So it's like, how can you, you know, sit there and joke with a president who does not care about the First Amendment, literally threatening your livelihood in the institution you love so much? Yes, and we do know this isn't the first time that, they've threatened to pull Jimmy Kimball off the air or threatened ABC at all. But here's the reality. This does not shut down ABC overnight, but forcing an early review like this,
Starting point is 00:39:53 it is extremely rare, and it can trigger a long, expensive legal fight that could drag on for years. But the stations would get to stay on while that legal fight plays on. So we will continue to watch what happens as the FCC. Now, once again, goes after late night TV. Weaponizing government institutions just because you got your feelings hurt by a joke. But we don't have no checks and balances for him. That's the sad part. Checks and balances for everybody but him.
Starting point is 00:40:21 Yeah. True. Very, very true. And earlier, I don't know if it was last week maybe, we talked about Spirit Airlines wanting to use your tax dollars for a bailout. Do you guys remember that? Yes. Okay. Well, now it's not just them.
Starting point is 00:40:36 A group that represents discounted airlines, so including Spirit, Frontier, Elite, Sun Country, Breeze. They are now all asking the federal government for a $2.5 billion bailout in federal aid. That's on top of the $500 million that Spirit is asking for to stay afloat. So all of this, this additional bailout, will come out of your pocket. They want it through taxpayer dollars. These airlines say they need to help. They need the help because jet fuel prices are surging. And discount carriers argue that they can't raise their ticket prices without losing customers. So they warned that without support, cheap flights could disappear and prices will go up across the board. So the bottom line is people could end up paying one way or the other, either through high ticket prices or through your tax dollars to help keep these airlines in the air.
Starting point is 00:41:26 What makes them think taxpayers got the money? That's crazy when you got the multi-billionaire company saying, we ain't got it. But you think that the everyday working class person got it. Yeah. When you look at it like that and then, you know, we're not going to raise fares, but we would. want your money, your taxpayer money, I mean, hitting me at both ends, it really doesn't matter. One day corporate America
Starting point is 00:41:46 going to look up and be like, damn, man, we ain't got no, there's no more taxpayer dollars to rely on. People ain't making no money to tax. Yeah, I mean, they'll just take it directly from your check at that point. I mean, you look at it. If I got no job. Yeah, like if you don't add. I ain't got no money. I ain't got no job.
Starting point is 00:42:03 That make you say your house. I mean, it's so foul the way they do people. Isn't it? Isn't it? Just force you to pay for something like this. Right. And lastly, so have you guys heard the term, of course you have, heard the term gold digger? Yes. Of course. Don't be asking us nothing crazy like that. I mean, I have to ask, maybe someone hasn't heard it. But when you think of a term, do you think of a man or you think of a woman?
Starting point is 00:42:25 A woman. A woman. Definitely a woman, for sure. A woman. Okay. All right. Well, most people have that idea, right? Most people think that gold diggers are usually women, but a new study says that's not the full story. So researchers found that men do it too. And in some cases, are worse than women. Researchers, they ask people a simple question, would you rather date someone rich but unreliable or broke but loyal? And a lot of people, including men, they leaned toward the money. So the study found that people who go after money in relationships, they tend to be narcissistic, more focus on status, and more likely to use charm to get what they want. And when it
Starting point is 00:43:04 comes to the ladies, the study found that men can come off sweet and thoughtful. So you end up ignoring those red flags, but the whole time they are just motivated by money. So the study says, in conclusion, go-digging isn't about a gender. It is about a mindset. Why a man got to be a narcissist because he knows his worth? Know your worth, King? This P.P. not free. Okay?
Starting point is 00:43:26 Why are you letting the woman get the milk but not buy the cow? Huh? I thought it ain't tricking if the person was worth it. Why can't a man, you know what I mean, sit back and say to himself, you know what? want somebody with some money. I don't want no bum-ass chick who's broke and can't afford nothing. Why can't a man have that conversation? Why when he does it? He's a narcissist. But when a woman does it, it's okay. They can't. I agree too. Absolutely. That's why I used to always tell women all of these, when women, he's like, I want me a rich man, blah, blah, blah, blah. You ain't even
Starting point is 00:43:56 rich. How you, how you looking down upon people, are you looking down on people, but you don't even got what you're looking for? Very, very interesting. I say, she said, very, very interesting. Very, very interesting. You know, I just, I just want to put it out there that men can be gold diggers to. That's it. That's all. And this day and age, men need gas money right now.
Starting point is 00:44:20 So, yeah, everybody hurt. Everybody. Everybody needs a little something right now. All right, y'all, well, that is your front page news. I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown TV. And for more stories, follow the Black Information Network. Thank you, Mimi.
Starting point is 00:44:34 Thank you, girl. Thank you. Peace, Mimi. All right. Well, let's open up the phone line. 800585-105-1. I guess the question is, can men be gold diggers?
Starting point is 00:44:44 Now, you talked about just a relationship where you was talking to a guy with no arms or no legs? Yo. It was my sugar daddy, yo. Yeah, he was a veteran. And he didn't, he had arms. He didn't, he had legs too,
Starting point is 00:44:59 yo. They just didn't work. Okay. Well, I think we have to define what a gold digger is. He tries it. Right, because the sugar daddies, they offering the gold.
Starting point is 00:45:06 They already know what this setup is. They know the situation. Like a gold digger is somebody who dates anybody. Like I feel like they don't got to be older. They don't got to be a sugar daddy. Just anybody with money. Okay. We can provide that lifestyle for you.
Starting point is 00:45:17 The definition online says a person who initiates or maintains a romantic relationship primarily for financial gain rather than affection. They seek to acquire money gifts are a lavest lifestyle from a wealthier partner, often using tactics like requesting expensive gifts. Loans are allowances. So they ain't got nothing to do with no type of love. So you're just selling a peepie. That's all you are. Strictly paper. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:44 All right. 800585-105-1. Can men be gold diggers? Let's discuss. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. It's topic time. Call 800-585105-105-1 to join in to the discussion with the breakfast club.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jolami and the guy. We are the breakfast club. If you're just joining us, we open up the phone lines 8505. I guess the question we're asking, can men be gold diggers? Now, this conversation comes from Mimi
Starting point is 00:46:16 who is on front page news and saying that a new study is showing that more and more men are dating for money. Yeah, I mean, there's broke, you know, it's hard on here. Yeah, and there's a huge difference between a gold digger and a person who wants somebody financially well off.
Starting point is 00:46:31 I don't fault anyone for wanting someone who's financially well off, but I'm also a person who still believes people are with folks because they actually loved him. You know what I mean? But there's the difference between a gold digger and just somebody who wants somebody who's financially well off. So the answer to the question, can men be gold diggers? Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:46 All of these men that's out here dating, you know, these fat white women or these old, these old, you know, 70-year-old, 80-year-old white women. You know what I mean? They're doing it for the check. Yeah. They're doing it for room and board. Yeah, I think it's... Room and board is crazy. I think people have been doing it for a long time.
Starting point is 00:47:02 More people are doing it now probably because of the situation with the economy. But, yeah, I think people can. I don't think it's right. What is that relationship? Because it's built off of nothing. It's built off of finances, right? And if I lose my job or I lose the finances, then you out. Well, it's a transaction.
Starting point is 00:47:18 And that I'm, in that that old person or that fat woman will just pay for somebody else? You did something for some chicken wings one time, right? I didn't do nothing for no goddamn chicken wings. Chicken wings is crazy. So you said that the lady left chicken wings on the counter? First of all. We are. Okay, in my much, much, much, much younger years.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Okay, when I was in my 20s, it was a 40-something, damn near 50-something. And yes, she gave me $3,000. and some fried chicken wings and some twinkies. Oh my God. And the car service home. And a car service home. Respect that little Peebee. Hey, man.
Starting point is 00:47:48 Hey, yo. I made it feel young again when I was younger. I was shaking your ass for chickens. I don't know about the rest of you all. I came up. I don't know about the rest of y'all. You know what I'm saying? One day I might tell that story.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Maybe not. Did she put in a paper towel? What she gave it to you? That she put in a bag. a Ziploc bag, so it was like a sandwich back, so the Twinkie's and the Twinkies and the fried chicken in the sandwich bag and the $3,000
Starting point is 00:48:14 and she was like, oh and I got you a car service. Okay, she was older. Yeah, she was like it. Well, there's a lot of people on the line that want to discuss 800-585-105-1. You didn't feel away like, oh my gosh. $3,000 to Twinkie some chicken wings,
Starting point is 00:48:30 man, please. She wanted him out of the house. I don't know if you realize that. Like, get out now. And? And? And? And? What? What? Damn. He'll be crying on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Hello, who's this? Hello. This is Courtney. Hey, Courtney. Good morning, Courtney. What are you calling from Courtney? Good morning. Peace, Courtney.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Charlie. I'm calling from Georgetown, South Carolina. Hey, 843. What's happening, Georgetown? So we talk about can men be gold diggers, Mama? Yes, they can. So I am 32 years old, and I am single in dating. I've had several guys ask me.
Starting point is 00:49:07 for money. Did you give it to them? No. I am a single mother. I'm not giving them anything. And it was only within like several months of me knowing them. But did they supply the penis?
Starting point is 00:49:21 No, we're not doing that. What do you do for a living, ma'am? How do you know you got money? I work at the doctor's office. Oh, got you. And I don't know why they assume that I would just randomly send them money with us just knowing each other.
Starting point is 00:49:34 That's weird. And I've heard it's very common now. For men. I mean, listen, times are hard out here. You know, men got to do what they got to do. Times are hard for us, too. That is true. Why would we just send them random money?
Starting point is 00:49:46 That is very true. He picked the wrong one. He probably should have a little more that would have no problem giving it to them. That's what he should have did then. Yeah, maybe, yeah, he needs to go pick them ones that making that type of salary. Respectfully, how much do you weigh, respectful? Oh, boy. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:50:01 Oh, boy. How much should I weigh? Charlemagne. I weigh like $1.65. How tall of you? I am five eight. Oh, yeah. That's not bad.
Starting point is 00:50:11 That's not bad. That's not bad. That's not bad. Hello, who's this? Who? Who is it? Steph. Steph from PA.
Starting point is 00:50:23 Talk to us. What's your thoughts, brother? Hold on, hold on, hold on. Drop the clue bomb, for me. This is my first time I'm getting through. Let's go to the two bomb for me. That's not clue bomb, sir. Yeah, we don't even know what you're saying yet, sir.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Just drop a clues bomb for me. Yeah, because that's my first time through. No, that's not clues bomb with me, sir. You a gold digger, sir? No, no. But I believe men could be gold digger, though. 100%. Especially in this era that we living in.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Yes. I feel like that's another reason why I'm aware of people like Heaven Fedeline, you know. I'm not saying he was, but you know how he got the bad? Absolutely. Well, he was the dancer for Brittany. I think they actually liked each other. I think that, you know, a gold digger is a person who's, literally strictly with a person for financial gain and nothing else.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Kevin was big playing with Brittany, though, so I get what you're saying. But even if they were kids, they got married? I know, but like he just, I ain't think they was married. What about Jay Loos dancer? Because Jay Loz dancer, it feels like he was never going to be a husband. He was just always going to be. Jaylo married a dancer? One of her dancer?
Starting point is 00:51:29 No, but she was with the dancer at one time. Oh, I don't know. What was the guy's name? Or she married him. Yeah, Kevin and Brittany got married. I don't know about the, first of all, if you, if you, You just talk about J-Lo for a second. If you're getting with J-Lo, it don't matter about no goddamn money.
Starting point is 00:51:41 That's J-Lo. He's at Wooders-Wing? That's a winner. She's beautiful. Right. Money, please. Hello, who's this? Hello, good morning.
Starting point is 00:51:51 This is Harlem Rockstar. Hey, good morning. He's Harlem Rockstar. I ain't heard from you in a minute. I mean, I see you on Instagram. I'm up and around. How y'all doing? Good morning.
Starting point is 00:52:02 What's happening? Talk to us. What's your thoughts? You don't know, nothing about no men being gold diggers. You're a whole stud. What I do? Hold on. But let me tell you.
Starting point is 00:52:09 something real quick, men can absolutely be studs. And I'm going to tell you why. Men ask me all the time to hook them up with women, specifically women that have money, knowing that they don't got it. Got you. You said men can be studs. You meant gold digger. I was confused. I was like, men can be stunned.
Starting point is 00:52:27 Gosh, don't tell them that. Go digger, just as a matter of fact, y'all. Let me tell you all, just add a answer, right? Shout out to to Jess, because I saw Jess and her husband. Me and my cousin was standing next to you in the front row. My cousin had on the oil white.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Where at? Where were we? Taree's concert. The R&B concert. Oh, yes, yes. Absolutely. What's that, boo? So during the intermission, I'm going to the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:52:54 This dude stops me. He's like, yo, this is late. I'm having a good time. So I'm like, yeah, okay. He's like, yeah, sure he paid for everything. I'm only here because she'd be paying for everything. So I'm like, okay, that's what stuff. Damn.
Starting point is 00:53:08 But, yes, mention it. absolutely be go-diggers and I feel like men be more go-diggers than the women. What was you doing in the men's bathroom talking to him though? No, no, see, I ain't say I was in the men's bathroom. She said she was on her way to the bathroom. You just heard she was in the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:53:25 See, how about you jumping there? Don't do me like that. They'll stand up with PEO. She thought she'd think you'd be walking around with your scrap on and that's what she's thinking. No, I'm not one of those. I'm not one of those. But he's a clown, though. He's a clown.
Starting point is 00:53:40 But that nigga was a clown because he didn't even know her. He just straight up told her that out of nowhere. There's two dudes talking. Like he felt the dude energy. Still, though. Like, you know what it is? I don't just tell her about that. I wish when you didn't hang up on her.
Starting point is 00:53:52 I guarantee you she looked at them and they probably looked like a couple that don't need to be together. You know what I'm saying? You can always tell. You can always tell. It's usually a fat white girl. Okay. With a pretty decent looking black guy. You're like, man, what's going on that?
Starting point is 00:54:09 A really older white woman, like really older, like 70-something. Yo, you know what's crazy? With a younger black man, and you're like, what the hell is going on here? It was definitely a little bit of everybody in that show, too. Like the bus running everywhere. You know what? Because I tell. At the comedy show, sitting front row, there was a younger brother.
Starting point is 00:54:26 He looked like he was like 24, 25, and he had like a 70-year, 65-year-old white woman. And it just didn't look right. To the point that we put him on the screen and was like, what's up? And he said it. He was like, yo, this is my sugar mom. He was like, she takes care of me. Me and I take care of her. You see what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:54:40 He said that clearly. But no, she was right. It was a lot of them little couples in the front of VIPs, like right there at the front of the stage. And you're going to see a lot more of that, man. Grand Theft Auto is coming out this year. That's a lot of these concert tickets. These young boys are trying to come up, man. If you're just joining us, we're talking about can guys be gold diggers, right?
Starting point is 00:55:03 That means guys dating for money, not for love for money. Because it's so effed up out there. Have you ever looked up the definition of what a gold digger is? Or do we just know what it is? Because I looked it up this morning and I just thought it was interesting. A person typically described in popular culture as a woman who forms romantic relationships with a wealthy person, usually a man solely for money, gifts are financial gain rather than affection. Men can absolutely be gold diggers. And as I've been saying all morning, you see them all the time, especially those fat white women that be with them young, you know, black.
Starting point is 00:55:38 brothers or sometimes you know even growing black brothers are the older white women with the younger black brothers it's getting bad out there those guys that go it's getting bad out there people need to pay their bills they need to pay their mortgage they need to pay their they need to pay their they eat they're gonna go out this fall bro talk about the guys that's a whole bunch of guys that like the the handicapped girls too i never seen that i ain't never seen because they get a check for real what you found them back you did that Yeah, you did that. You dated a handicapped guy.
Starting point is 00:56:11 Don't try to put that on, no, man. You did that. No, they do, yo. But do you think it'll ever get bad with people be like, you know what? I'm just going to be gay for money. Like, you know what I mean? You did that in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Well, at least he did it in the 90s and not now, because everybody would know now. I didn't do that. You were the sorrogam. You know what? You know what? Yes, you were. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:56:28 Hello, who's this? Bad, bad, bad, bad boy. Oh, man. You make me feel so good. Oh, you know, right. Reminis. Reminis. Maybe you reminisce.
Starting point is 00:56:37 Hello, who's this? Chuck, how on me, man? It's Chuck from Detroit, man. Chuck, now, you be hiding at the sugar mamas? You're a gold digger, Chuck? I want to say I'm a gold digger, man. I just like sugar mamas, man. Ever since they changed the rate of pay and it's equal for women, why not?
Starting point is 00:56:51 I've been pumping in money for years to women taking the women on trips for what place just to change up and get something else. So let me see that's why I got a sugar mama. Now, gold digging. I don't think I'd say it's gold digging. I think gold digging is somebody just looking for money. Are you? That's the way.
Starting point is 00:57:05 That's what you just said. Do you like your sugar mama? Do you actually like her? Do you have feelings for her? I actually do. Oh, okay. Okay. How old is she?
Starting point is 00:57:13 I'm 30. I'm sorry. I'm 41. How old is she? She's 57. 57. Okay, yeah. Yeah, you're out here.
Starting point is 00:57:20 You out here with an older woman for sure. So what's the most, what's the biggest? But do she look good though? No. She's together. What's the biggest thing she bought you, me? She bought to put money in herself to get her body done. I ain't in all that.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Nah, tell her don't do that. Tell her keep that old-school Chevy the way it is, man. What's the biggest thing she bought you, brother? What's the biggest thing she bought you, Chuck? Ah, hey, vacations, Tristan, Jamaica, and Bahamas and Paris. Bro, in the Caribbean, you see it all the time. Yes, you do. That's what the young boys try to go duck off with their older sugar mamas.
Starting point is 00:57:56 Is she white? No, she's black. Oh, you're a legend. Oh. He's got called him a letter. No, because you, 57-year-old black woman is, that's amazing. That's amazing. No, she still look good.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Yeah. You already know, black don't crack, baby. See, yeah, this is different. I'm not mad at you because you said you like her too, so I can't say that you gold digger. But he got to own it, though. He is a gold digger. He's a gold digger. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Oh, man. I don't know if this gold digger if you like her. I don't know. I'm not, but look, this is how you know. Look, look, if all that went away, right, she lost whatever all the money she had, she wasn't able to do for you anymore. Would you still like her? No.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Would you be with? Just like if the same thing with a man, things will change, you feel me? Damn. Exactly. I lost all of his money and could provide the same way. Things will change. Yeah, you gold digger. Yeah, go digger.
Starting point is 00:58:40 You're a gold digger. Hello, who's this? I'm about to get the body done for them and all in. Good morning to all of you. I am Michelle. Hello, a beautiful people. Thank you. Michelle, we talk about can men be gold diggers?
Starting point is 00:58:52 What's talking about opportunities or go diggers, right? Correct, ma'am. As women in this day and age, then y'am 55, you have to really pay attention to the spine and they're there. So I dated the men where all my car's in the shop, Nigel, you never had a car. I dated the men that came over.
Starting point is 00:59:12 I don't have any money for this. Can you give me money for that? And I'm not going to say I never paid for anything because I absolutely did. You know, I'm one of those independent women. You pay one day. I pay the next. But when it gets to the point where that's all you're doing is paying,
Starting point is 00:59:29 I'm over the potential men. Either we're going to be equally yoked and where you need to be in life, or just keep walking. There's no reason for us to even have anything to talk about. I do have a 23-year-old daughter that I'm trying to get to understand the same thing. She is an amazing job, but the Negro that she's with is just, oh, my God. Like, I don't know where she found him. I think she went to the swamp or something.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Damn. But you just have to be careful about what you're doing. And I'm not going to bash the men and be like all men is out looking for something. But at my age, men are looking for cougars. And at my daughter's age, men are looking for somebody to take care of them. And it's just unfortunate, but this is the day and age that we live in. Yeah. So I've been there, done that, and I'm not going back to the men.
Starting point is 01:00:21 Okay. So I feel bad for these men. But you got two hands, you got two feet. Get your butt up and go get a job and work for it. Okay. On that note, can I give my amazing son a shout out real quick? Go ahead. He's about to be a senior next year.
Starting point is 01:00:36 His name is Christopher Beckett. He goes to Kipp High School in St. Louis, Missouri. And y'all, when I tell you, this young man is just nothing short of amazing. My son is just amazing. 4.2 GPA. Hey, I'm looking for the Morehouse in him. Amazing. To come out on top of that child, he is autistic.
Starting point is 01:00:57 So, do not parents, if you're hearing me, do not. let nobody tell you what your baby can't do because my son since elementary all he's ever had is age he's super smart he knows what he wants in life and y'all I'm just a proud mama right now what a legend man congratulations
Starting point is 01:01:14 you're raising a young legend man congratulations mama thank you and I appreciate all of you continue doing what you're doing we need you and we need your voice thank you so much what's the moral of the story guys well the moral of the story this this whole conversation reminds me of this quote that I
Starting point is 01:01:30 that I always hear and it's like we were made to love people and use things, but the reason the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used. So you remember that this morning when you tongue kissing your fat white woman.
Starting point is 01:01:43 Ew. Or your 70-year-old white sugar mama, young black men. All right, well, when we come back, we got the latest with Lawrence so don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Canadian women are looking for more.

Starting point is 01:03:42 We always say that trust your girlfriends.
Starting point is 01:04:05 I said, oh, hell no. I vowed. I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You can have opinions.
Starting point is 01:04:28 You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program.
Starting point is 01:05:13 Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Talk, LL. Cube. Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself. Damn. I'm being myself. I'm the home guard that knows a little bit about everything and everything. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that, take me through that. Cool, she's going. The latest with Lauren Olson. Take me through that.
Starting point is 01:05:43 On the breakfast club. L.L. Cool, baby. Talk to me. So, congratulations to Naz. Yesterday, the opening of the Resorts World Casino in New York City or the expansion or the expanded part in Queens. Okay. Happened and I saw them celebrating.
Starting point is 01:06:01 Now, this is such a big deal. Now, Resort World, the casino had already. been licensed to operate slot games but it hit its Queens compound now is able to operate table games as a part of its multi-billion dollar expansion. You guys will remember that Nause got involved with this. It was a $5 billion
Starting point is 01:06:19 expansion plan for the casino. It's bringing over 1,200 new jobs for the city, including 950 new table game dealers. So that third floor of the casino will now include a bunch of the table games. So Nause was there with a bunch of like different
Starting point is 01:06:35 elected officials, and he was celebrating the moment. Let's take a listen to Nas on hip-hop and casinos coming together. Hip-hop music, been around for 50-something years. Now you're seeing something different. Hip-hop and the casino world coming together. I'm a Queens native. You already know this means everything to me to be a part of this. Salute and blessings to everybody that works in this building.
Starting point is 01:06:58 All the dealers at the tables, all the bartenders, everybody in here matters. dropping the clues bonds for Nause. Yeah, big deal. I feel like we don't talk about Nause and the amazing business ventures that he has done over the last 10 years enough. Yeah, he's been, I mean, Nas has created generational wealth with his portfolio. I mean, early investor in the ring, coin base, drop box, lift, a bunch of stuff. I mean, we got mass appeal to the record label, the history clothing line, now the casino. No, like.
Starting point is 01:07:33 Nas is doing amazing words. Nause is him for real. Yes, 100%. But I do wonder, does that shut down Atlantic City, right? Because now so many people from the new tri-state area would drive two hours to Atlantic City to gamble to play card games to do all that. Now you don't have you got to go anymore. I don't know if it shuts it down or if it just gives you somewhere else to go to. But also, too, a lot of people go to like their local, like what you can get to easiest, right?
Starting point is 01:07:55 So people here in New York will be there. People that are closer to Atlantic City are still almost like a two-hour drive. And it's different vibes. You know what I'm saying? You go to all these different people. places, they got different restaurants, they got different ambiance, like Atlantic City and the summer is totally different than Queens
Starting point is 01:08:08 in the summer. And then honestly, when you're gambling it is about the vibe because what if you go to Atlantic City and you lose it for the day, then you'll go somewhere else because that's how I used to do. Baltimore we had two. We got two casinos. I would go down horseshoe. I would on a good day, I'll be all right. On the bad day, I'm going out live. I'm going out live.
Starting point is 01:08:23 You know what I'm saying? It's just like she said, it's another place. But I ain't driving two hours, but I can drive 10 minutes. Another reason that don't make no sense that casino been there in Queens. It's just Expansion. No, but it didn't have table games. Oh, you mean for the certain games. Yes. It was the slots. But now it has only slots. That's the big deal.
Starting point is 01:08:39 You know, blackjack, it has, you know, all those games now. So that's the change. And now has Blackjack, Craps, Baccarat, roulette. Uh, and Baccarat. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So one. Yeah, so congratulations to Naz. And I think, too, just the importance of the partnership and how much of, I mean, it's a big deal, but it's
Starting point is 01:08:58 like, I don't know, like, I think it's like a game changer for people that are looking to to do other things outside of music. And one of the actual... I've been doing things outside of music. Yeah, but I think for some reason, I feel like, like you said, people don't know a lot of the things that he's done.
Starting point is 01:09:13 I mean, they do it. They just don't celebrate it. I think that's all. I saw people... Every time... I mean, because... I don't know. I'm talking about it like that. Yeah, because every time I see people cover the casino, I see people act
Starting point is 01:09:23 like it's their first time hearing about it. But yesterday, I feel like, you know, getting to see him post the photos and they did, like, the dice roll. So it was like the first dice roll on the table in New York City. like that's a that's huge it is huge yeah naz is just a quiet person he doesn't do too much talk no no well in other news speaking of huge news remember yesterday i told you guys that the beehive made the people believe that biont was coming with act three at the meggallel next week well miss tina is on a press run miss tina knows and she's talking about sacred and a bunch of the different things she has going on and the people will not leave her alone about it let's take a listen to miss tina on sherry shepherd i remember that biance has said that renaissance was three acts so we had renaissance We already got Cowboy Carter. Has B told you what that third act is, Ms. Tina? Come on now.
Starting point is 01:10:08 Give us something. I could tell you, but I would have to kill you. Oh, my God. No, I really don't know. Honestly, I know people think I know, but I really don't know because, you know, I got a big mouse, so she doesn't tell me anything until the last minute. I don't like them trying to catch 72-year-old Tina nose.
Starting point is 01:10:25 Listen. She's sharp, but she won't point out. She shirt, but this is going around because there's been times where she has. did say something. Yeah, she's sharp. Because she was at another station, I believe it was an ABC station. And she, same thing. It was like, well, I heard the music, but I ain't going to tell y'all. Like, she's sharp this time around, but they're definitely trying to get it. Because not only do people think that there's an album done, which, you know, Beyonce's publicist has come out now since yesterday, almost four to five times and said no about. But they think it's supposed to come out at the Met Gala around that date next year. Where they get this? Because they're getting this information from it? Because if they're saying no, like, where? Where did it sound? They weren't saying no at first. But yesterday. what I told you guys about that visual comparison was one of the clues. And then
Starting point is 01:11:04 I think the Bhab, you know, they just come up with a lot of their own things based on like things that Beyonce's posting. They thought that the three lemons in her hand when she was celebrating lemonade was a thing. They're just reaching for stuff. But yeah, by the way, I'm supposed to trying to go to the Met Gala next week. They denied us for the carpet.
Starting point is 01:11:20 But they've seen your outfits. I don't blame them. Shut up. I cannot be mad at that. You just said she looked nice to that. Exactly. And I was going to kill the Met Gala. I was very upset about that. Let's finish the latest. I was gonna kill him, me guy. Mad feathers, I could see it down. You know what I'm saying? Cal print.
Starting point is 01:11:36 Like she was at the Black Effect Music, podcast festival dressed like she was going to the BET Gossip. I was giving goddess. I was giving goddess. I was giving the drama. I was giving you are here for a show. All the girls call it out. Give me my 10.
Starting point is 01:11:50 I am the birthday. I am the festival. The outfit was cool. This wrong place. You know what I'm saying? No. What's the thing with the trail? What's the trail thing called?
Starting point is 01:11:57 I swear. What's the trail thing with that? A train? Oh, yeah. She had a train. She had a train. I know. I was stepped on it five times.
Starting point is 01:12:04 I was taking her two sons today, a father before she went out on the tape. Because y'all and she was dressed like. Listen, you got a dress for where you know you're going and I'm headed to host some big stages. You bought that outfit for a black event? Yeah. It's really pretty.
Starting point is 01:12:16 Thank you. Thank you. We didn't even get into my life. You know what? If the Meggella is listening, don't listen to Charlemagne. We are the biggest podcast. We are the biggest podcast on Netflix. We should be on that curve.
Starting point is 01:12:28 First of all, first of all, we're a radio show. Podcasts and radio show. A radio show that distributes as a podcast. Radio show first, man. Well, all of our entities should have been on that carpet. If you're talking about fashion and culture coming to New York City, there's no reason we should not be there. Maybe that's the reason why we're not.
Starting point is 01:12:45 Fashion. Y'all are a hatter. Culture, yeah, fashion. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Well, oh, Petty, y'all. Let's wrap this up. All right, girl.
Starting point is 01:12:56 Thank you. We'll wrap this up, but in the next latest, we're going to talk about Diddy and where he did not put his, can I say the word? No. What's the word? Nothing. Just. Jiz.
Starting point is 01:13:09 His cocos. Yes. Oh my goodness. We'll get to that next. Also, we give me a donkey to, Sholome. Four after the hour, man, there is a woman. Her name is a Michaela Clough. Boy, she loves chicken.
Starting point is 01:13:21 We'll discuss. Yes. All right. We'll do that next. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Donkey up the day. Man.
Starting point is 01:13:28 Damn. The he-ha-ha-in-h-h-h-h-h. It's time for donkey today. I'm not trying to be donkey today no more. They should be embarrassed by what they already did. I'm not making these people do these things. I'm not making donkey of the day, and it really caught me off guard. Damn, Solomon, who got the donkey of the day today?
Starting point is 01:13:47 Well, Jess Alarious, Donkey of the Day for Wednesday, April 29th, goes to a Wisconsin woman named Michaela Clough, and she was charged Monday with first-degree intentional murder. Okay, prosecutor says she stabbed her boyfriend at her. apartment. What leads a person to do such a heinous act? Well, let's go to ABC News 12 for the report, please. Lucas Ross of Delafield was a lot of things to his family, a loving son and brother, a special uncle, a devoted dog dad. But the 25-year-old's life came to a shocking end at this Okachi apartment Friday night stabbed death. Prosecutors say by his longtime girlfriend, 27-year-old Michaela cloth. She admits saying, I stabbed him.
Starting point is 01:14:30 If you have to take me to jail, okay. According to the criminal complaint issued at Cloth's court hearing Monday, she told investigators Lucas was, quote, pushing her buttons because he brought chicken over to cook at the apartment when, quote, she would rather go out. This complaint indicates that this young lady got into an ultimately got into an argument because he brought home chicken, to eat instead of taking her out. According to the complaint, Cloth admitted to investigators she was stabbed Lucas because, quote,
Starting point is 01:15:07 she was angry and went on to say, quote, she should have just gone to the bar. And the whole thing was just irritating. First thing first, rest in peace, the 25 year old Lucas Rush, okay? Dead, deceased over chicken, okay, poultry, that he intended to fry in an air friar.
Starting point is 01:15:26 How much does chicken cost in Wisconsin, and probably close to $5 a pound, maybe more than that in this climate. And that's not even the farm raised chicken, okay? Farm raised chicken probably $18 to $30 per bird. This young man, Lucas, had chicken drumsticks, okay? And Wisconsin chicken drumsticks cost between $1.9 and $250 per pound.
Starting point is 01:15:45 He was going to cook them himself in the air friar. What a man. Drop on a clue bomb for Lucas Ross. What in the case, man. What a man, what a man. This young man did what he's supposed to do. Okay, bought some dinner home. And this woman,
Starting point is 01:15:59 Michaela, okay Michaela Clough was not appreciative, okay, she wanted to go out to eat when you're not in the mood for chicken? Did you ask him to take you somewhere nice, like Popeyes, KFC, even? Oh, you wanted to go to Chicken Man, or Gold Rush Chicken or Tom Kins,
Starting point is 01:16:13 but this young man, Lucas Ross said, no, no, no, we got chicken at the house. And because he was thoughtful, because he actually cared and because you are ungrateful, Lucas is no longer with us. Kids, let me explain something to y'all, man. If you're significant other, the person you love is pushing your buttons,
Starting point is 01:16:31 if the person you love is making you upset and an argument ensues, go somewhere and take a breath. Okay, go take your shoes off and walk in some grass. Go hug a tree. Go outside and look to the sky. Look at the sun. Inhale, exhale. Say a prayer.
Starting point is 01:16:47 Phone a friend. Hell, if you get to the point where you feel so enraged that you want to do something violent, drive yourself to wherever it is you wanted to go and order your own damn chicken wings. She says you wanted to go to the bar. She should have left and went to the bar. Okay? She should have called her ride, went to the bar, had a drink, order some damn chicken wings, cooled off, and then came back home,
Starting point is 01:17:07 and Lucas would still be alive today. I just don't understand a 27-year-old woman throwing their life away because you didn't like the dinner plans? Life in prison because she didn't like what her man bought home for dinner? Do you understand the risk Lucas took bringing home those drumsticks to begin with? because women never, and I mean never, seem to know what they want to eat. Okay, I would bet money that Lucas and Michaela had a conversation prior about dinner, and Michaela hit him, Michaela hit him with the you choose.
Starting point is 01:17:39 You choose. So he chose. And she still wasn't satisfied. And now Lucas is dead. My brothers, if women killed us every time they weren't happy with our dinner choices, I don't think it would be any men left. Okay, just a world full of hungry women who have no choice but to eat each other. Okay, Michaela told police,
Starting point is 01:17:56 If they had to lock her up, that was cool. She took full responsibility like it was nothing. Okay, if you asked me, not showing no remorse, I don't understand this. Okay, you killed someone because you didn't like what he bought you for dinner, but now you're going to spend the rest of your life in a facility where you have absolutely zero control over the menu? Another, you know, temporary feeling that has led to a permanent consequence. Please let Rememont give him a kill a cloth the biggest he all. He-ha, he-ha, you stupid motherfucker, are you dumb?
Starting point is 01:18:33 So dumb. That's crazy. It's got to be something else wrong with her. There's no way that she did that because she just wanted to go out to eat. It got to be something going to work. She said he was pushing her buttons. That's what she said. He was pushing my buttons.
Starting point is 01:18:48 Nah, something else going on with Shorty. All right. Well, thank you for that donkey today, sir. Yes, indeed. Rest and peace, Lucas Ross. Absolutely. Yes. Now, when we come back, former New York.
Starting point is 01:18:57 Nick, former NBA player, John Starks will be joining us. We're going to talk to him next. And congratulations to the New York Knicks. We won last night. We got one more game to get Atlanta out of out. I'm surprised you're not here jumping up and down. Not yet. Not yet, because the Knicks can nick me out. So we're just going to calm it down.
Starting point is 01:19:13 That just sounded nasty. That was unnecessary. It was just unnecessary. You didn't have to say it like. The Knicks can nick you out. The Knicks can nick you out. They can nick you down too, huh? They can nick you up and down until you say stop. You have gay We're going to talk to John Starks when we come back. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:19:28 Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Just hilarious. Charlemaine de Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lawn LaRose is here as well. We got a special guest in the building. Former New York Nick, ladies and gentlemen, John Starks.
Starting point is 01:19:39 Welcome, brother. Welcome. Thank you. Thank you. Great to be here. I'm feeling great. Yeah. It's an honor to have you here.
Starting point is 01:19:45 And if you don't know who John Starks is, of course, former Nick, you know, I'm a Nick. To see the grunt and the grind of where you came from to become a Nick, I think was, was, It gives so much inspiration to kids that don't know. I was actually telling Lauren before, just tell them your journey and how you got into the league and how you made it
Starting point is 01:20:02 to New York Knicks. It's going to take more than an owl. No, I come from Tos, Oklahoma, Black Wall Street. You know, come from humble beginnings. A single parent, mother, seven of us growing up in the household, and just the struggles that you go through. You know what I mean? Not having that father figure
Starting point is 01:20:22 in the house and me as a young man trying to find my way as long as with my brothers and sisters. And so it was a struggle, but, you know, the love was there in the family itself. So it took everybody for helping me, you know, find my way in life, got myself in a few trouble situations, let's just say that, and had to grow up and become a man. And so I was very fortunate enough to have an older brother who saw something in me more so than I probably saw him myself and kind of pushed me in the right direction, even though he made his mistakes and went, you know, and did, you know, went on vacation, let's just say that.
Starting point is 01:21:10 And so, but he saw something in me and pushed me to, you know, get my life back together and I went back and got back in school and started to make something out of myself. And with this talent I had, it got, you know, a coach saw something in me too and gave me an opportunity to come and play basketball. And so I could say that I went from playing street basketball to playing in the NBA in two years once I had started, once I made a decision to change my life and move in the right direction. Now talk about it because you drafted to the Warriors. Undrafted.
Starting point is 01:21:51 Undrafted to the Warriors. Then you played in the G League, which they call it now for a couple of years. It wasn't the G League back then. It was the CBA. It was the CBA back then. And something that was unlikely back then, the Knicks seen something in you and decided to pick you to play for the New York Knicks. You and Anthony Mason back there. Yes.
Starting point is 01:22:06 Talk about that because back then that didn't happen. Usually you get drafted and you playing, but y'all came from a different angle. Yeah, I was fortunate enough to play for a coach when I, I was in the CBA called George Whitaker, and he gave me an opportunity to come in and just be myself. You know what I mean? I was in the NBA. It's a humbling experience when you go up,
Starting point is 01:22:31 then all of a sudden you drop back down. You know what I mean? Because you think you're going to be up here at this level forever, but that's not the case sometime. And so I dropped back down, and so I had to kind of like reach inside myself and figure out, you know, what I need to do in order to get back.
Starting point is 01:22:47 to that next level. And all I thought about was, you know, the learning experience that I had the first year and the guys that play at a high level what I needed to do and what I needed to work on. And so I went down there with a mentality is like, okay, I need to get better at this, this, this. And I did.
Starting point is 01:23:06 I went down there, work with that mindset. A lot of guys feel like once they drop, oh, man, you know, the world is ended. So it's a rap, right? Yeah, it's a rap. And that wasn't my mentality. I knew that I belonged at the next level. So I went in there with that mentality.
Starting point is 01:23:21 It's like, okay, you're going to work hard. You're going to get your opportunity again. And once that opportunity came, I took full advantage of it. But I was playing in the World Basketball League, a league for 6-5 and under guys. But we had guys in there at 6-9, 16, you know, one of those leagues. And so the great Dick McGuire came down and he was scouting me. And I remember I put on the show.
Starting point is 01:23:46 I scored like 40-some. points and he said, call my agent and he said, yeah, we want to bring him in the camp. And that's how I got to the Knicks. Yes. How did you get into, I'm sorry, this is not even basketball. How did you get into the car business? Oh, that's a good question. A good friend of mine is Joe Vitagio, who owns Four Lincoln of Queens,
Starting point is 01:24:07 brought me into the business along with the other partners. I was doing some marketing stuff for them for Lincoln of Queens and say he was interested in and opening up a keel dealership would I love to partner with him and I like sure you know
Starting point is 01:24:27 because I know the car business is a good business and so that's kind of how I got involved in the car business and it's been incredible just kind of learning a lot about what it takes in order to sell a car and the money that you make off of selling cars and so
Starting point is 01:24:42 and the beautiful thing about it is that we get to help people You know what I mean? A lot of these people that comes in, some of them is the first time having a car. And a lot of them, you know, maybe going through situations where we can help them out. So it's a beautiful thing. You know, I get a chance to interact with the customer and what have you. So it's a lot of fun.
Starting point is 01:25:06 I truly enjoy it. Are you at the dealership? I'm at the dealership. Yeah, yeah. I come in there. Not all the time. Okay. But you do see me in there.
Starting point is 01:25:14 Yes. That was my first car, Akina Sapphire. Yeah. Yep. Crash and burn it. Come see us again. We got you. People come in and they're like, oh my God.
Starting point is 01:25:24 Yes. Yeah, they do. They do. Because they'd be surprised to see me. You know what I mean? And so I get a chance to get over there. But I do a lot of marketing. That's my job.
Starting point is 01:25:35 As you can see, I can't marketing all over me. But we have some incredible sales associates. I like to call them that truly do their best. try to help everybody that comes through those doors. When you are at the dealership, and of course New York is New York, right? Yes. Do New Yorkers come up to you and want to sit down and be like, yo, do you consider what you did dunking on Jordan? Yeah, all the time.
Starting point is 01:26:00 Do they talk about that last game? How was your mental? Do they have those conversations with you? Yes, yes. Ever get tired of it? No, I don't. I don't. This is New York.
Starting point is 01:26:09 I love New York, man. I'm a little country boy coming from Oklahoma and just in a big city trying to make a living. you know but I love talking and expressing what I went through because it's the fans you know what makes New York New York you know what I mean makes the Knicks the Knicks and so
Starting point is 01:26:28 I never get tired of that never get old to me I tell people since I became working for the Knicks back in 2004 I get asked that question every single day which I like the dunk so do you consider that a dunk because people like Jordan wasn't there
Starting point is 01:26:44 He was just that day. Mike said it wasn't. Mike, he always told me I didn't dunk on him. But I always said I did. But, you know, him being him, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:26:58 I always explained like this. So I dunked over Horace Grant. Mike got in the picture made it look good. You know what I mean? So that's how it is. But he did try to go for the block. So he got a little piece of it. What was y'all like?
Starting point is 01:27:12 Because I was asking Envy, like, you know, like Spike Lee? and all these celebrities have been going to y'all games forever. The culture has been there forever. But I can't even imagine a time where like something doesn't happen in the game and it's like super viral. Like for y'all, it was a lot different. So like during the time that you were playing,
Starting point is 01:27:27 what was the biggest distraction for you? Was it the women? Yeah. I feel like today the players deal with it's the money. You got family trying to figure that out. But on the other side, when I talk about the players a lot, I'm normally talking about the women and the things that they're getting into. She told about the relationship.
Starting point is 01:27:43 She told about the best relationship. And social media. Yeah. So what was your biggest distraction? The biggest distraction, I would just say probably the media back then for a sport talk talk radio. That's more so the biggest distraction.
Starting point is 01:28:00 We didn't have to deal with, like you said, social media. Things just like wasn't readily accessible to you when you mess up or you say something wrong or what have you like it is now. These guys have to deal with so much that. You know what I mean? We got our news maybe the next day when you turn on the radio and somebody
Starting point is 01:28:20 said something on the radio. You read something in the paper or what have you. Immediately after the game, first thing they do, they pick up their phone. Yeah. You know what I mean? And so I can remember when doing my playing time, especially during this time of the year, I shut everything down.
Starting point is 01:28:36 You know what I mean? My wife, kids understand, okay, I only got a certain amount of time that I could talk to him, you know what I mean? Because I'm I'm watching tape. I'm watching games. I listened to Shea Alexander last night after the game. He said he's been watching the Houston and Lakers series.
Starting point is 01:28:53 You know, that's a young man to get it. You know what I mean? That's what is about. You know what I mean? I'm prepared for them mentally. Even though I'm playing this game, I'm prepared for my next series. And so... He'd be fly, too.
Starting point is 01:29:06 Yeah, Shay. Yes. He's incredible, first of foremost. He's just an amazing young man. but yeah it's just about you know shutting everything off getting focus and and understanding you got a job to do and and stay on point
Starting point is 01:29:25 and so hopefully these guys understand that that's the main thing and if I could get help get it across to him I try my best to get it across to him yeah a lot of things that they go through now is like you know relationships especially when they date in the same industry or like you know in any industry or like you know in any industry. Now what you go through off the court becomes bigger than what you're doing in the league or on the court.
Starting point is 01:29:50 Yeah. That's tough. We didn't have all that back then like it is now. Everybody want to be involved in your life. Even the media too. Like they'll be asking you stuff. It's like, no, can you ask me about the game? Not about my ex-girlfriend. You know, where you saw me at last night. Yeah. Yeah. And the fans play a part in it too. Yo, for sure. For sure. For sure. It's the it's the toughest thing for them
Starting point is 01:30:16 and I feel for them because it's almost hard for them to have a relationship that you're trying to have a serious relationship with someone because you're so in the media and those who, you know, want to be in the media,
Starting point is 01:30:32 you're just exposing your life to, you know, to the world. And those who don't, you know, I applaud them, you know what I mean? Because they're trying to live live a simple life in this crazy, you know, business that we are in. And so it's tough for them. And so I don't know what to say on that.
Starting point is 01:30:52 Let them just stay off of social media. Yeah, I know. Or get married a long term. That's true, too. I agree with you 100%. Yeah, 40 years in. How would you rate these Knicks players today compared to your squad? They there.
Starting point is 01:31:10 I truly believe. Better squad, worst squad, even squad? I would say pretty much even. I will always give ourselves, you know, the nod. But I think their mentality is like our mentality. You know, they rough riders. And that's what you have to be in New York. New York want to see that.
Starting point is 01:31:28 And so because they want you to fight every game. They can deal with the losses and what have you, but they don't think that you're fighting, then you got a problem in New York and you're going to get you out of here. You know what I mean? And so, but they, that DNA is inside of them. I think Coach Tibbs did a good job from a defensive standpoint of putting that DNA inside of me. You see experts it comes out of them.
Starting point is 01:31:54 But we got to come out of you all the time, you know, and for 48 minutes. And if they can do that, then they got a shot to win it all. I was glad to ask the goat conversation. That's the conversation that especially alumni and former players always say, you know, You played with Michael Joy. You've been watching LeBron. Who is the goat when it comes to basketball and why? Shot.
Starting point is 01:32:17 Do I really have to answer? Absolutely. Do you hate that question? No, I know. It's a generational question. Right? The younger generation is always going to say. I'm going to say Jordan.
Starting point is 01:32:25 You know I'm going to say Jordan. Why? Yeah. When you play against somebody that did things that like you just shake your head, it's like, how can't this? man be on all the time like 24-7 how can't you be on all the time we didn't see
Starting point is 01:32:45 LeBron and LeBron is great don't give me wrong but we didn't you had questions about him you never had a question about Jordan you never had a question about if anybody should be considered as Kareem and Jordan that should be
Starting point is 01:33:01 the two goat questions but you never had a question about Mike you know what I mean? Nothing I can't think of nothing. I remember when he came back and they was in the playoffs against Orlando Magic and you probably remember this
Starting point is 01:33:19 and he turned the ball over in game six. He was like shocked down the stretch. He was like, what? He made a mistake. Then you see what happened. He came back the next three years and they ended up busts. Yeah, exactly. So you don't he's just different
Starting point is 01:33:37 bro. He was just a different mentality. his his drive his you know things that you you thought he couldn't do you said he couldn't hit threes he learned to hit threes his mid-drain game he just made play after play down the stretch and I'm like I'm watching film I'm like dude how is you how is you doing this right right you know all the damn time how is you doing this all the time like guys make mistakes but it isn't he didn't make mistakes And that's what made him so different. But he, and if he, like, anybody talking about if he playing today, if he play in today's era, it'd be unmerciful.
Starting point is 01:34:15 It really would. Yeah, but you had, you know, you had the job to stick them, right? Yes. How difficult was that? Like, what did you have to do before the game? Like. Pray. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Exactly. Watch tape, man, and try to find weaknesses. You know, when we, as players, we watch tape and say, okay this guy he can't go left he can't go right he like doing this when you close out on this it's like dude what is weak none so you just go out there and my mentality was just to play him hard right denam the ball just make him work you know what I mean he's still gonna go score 30 but you got to make him work for those 30s and try to not let him get everybody involved in the game but when he wants to come out and I didn't see those moments that look in his eye it's like
Starting point is 01:35:04 Dude, you're here for a long night. Well, where can people come check you out at the dealership? Because I know people are going to be like, yo, I want to take a touch drive with John's talking. Don't even want to buy the car. Don't even want to be there and say, where John are going to be there? And they give you the date. I'm going to be there. Come see me.
Starting point is 01:35:21 But just don't, not even if I'm not there. Just come see me. We got Ford, Starks, Florida Queens on Northern Boulevard and John Starks's Kea on Hillside. in Queens. Okay. We appreciate you for joining us, brother. Absolutely. This has been great.

Starting point is 01:40:02 Quentin Tarantino presents one spoon of chocolate written by Derrisa, produced by the Rizzer, directed by the Rizza, fully funded by the Rizza. Love that. Man. Wow. It comes out for,
Starting point is 01:40:13 Friday. I'm 62 minutes in and I think it's an hour 54 minutes. And it is so good. It sparks emotion, conversation. It has action. It has anything, any little pieces that you're into it so far. Wait to the last 30. Oh wait. Don't know. The last 30
Starting point is 01:40:29 and drop it a clue's bond for Shabee Moore, man. Oh my God, he bodied that role. Yes. He's, I can't wait till you. I'll see one spoon of chocolate. And Michael Jackson clearly want you. What do you say, Jeff? I said I haven't seen it, but Shameek Moore is on that time. That's Paris. That's Paris. That's Paris. That's Michael Jackson's daughter.
Starting point is 01:40:44 That's what I'm going to say. Michael Jackson must want y'all back in the theater. Because everybody went to go see Michael Jackson last weekend. And now his daughter is going to be in one spoon of chocolate that comes out Friday. And she's good. She's good. She's good. That's what I asked y'all.
Starting point is 01:40:57 I was like, I just looked again. I'm like, oh, ish. Big row. Yeah. Big row. Big row. Oh, my God. Let's get to the latest.
Starting point is 01:41:05 Why? Why you don't? Well, I'm coming up. She gets him somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody. She gets to detail. I'm a little bit about everything. She'd be having the latest on it. The latest with Lauren LaRosa.
Starting point is 01:41:21 Sometimes you have facts. Sometimes you have detail. Sometimes you have a little bit everything. Well, it's the latest. Brought to you by Top Dog Law. On the Breakfast Club. Talk to me. Top Dog Lo!
Starting point is 01:41:31 So Diddy just filed some new legal docs. He is drawing a hard line against some claims that he that he masturbated into a biggie T-shirt. shirt during a 2020 warehouse visit and then through the shirt while saying RIP Biggie onto a man named Jonathan Hay who was accusing Diddy of this act and several other acts
Starting point is 01:41:51 in a civil lawsuit. Now we talked about this civil lawsuit some time ago. Did he just responded? I've never heard this before my life. We talked about it. Yeah so Jonathan Hay when we talked about it some time ago he alleged that that t-shirt incident happened. He alleged that Diddy shoved his private part in his face in a separate incident. He also
Starting point is 01:42:07 alleged that Diddy tried to force him to have oral sex with him. Now, Diddy Fowt not only denying all of these claims, but he's also asking him for a judge to toss his lawsuit out. But in the docs, it's kind of confusing, and I called an attorney trying to clear it up
Starting point is 01:42:23 and it still didn't really help me much. But in the docs, it's like, did he's denying generally and specifically all of the claims? But then they say that Jonathan Hay invited the conduct and whatever was happening was happening with full knowledge of what was going to happen. And I'm like, so are you saying that this stuff
Starting point is 01:42:39 happened? And it was like... Where's the T-shirt? So they asked Jonathan what he was wearing? The t-shirt, he flat out denies. He says that that never even happened. The t-shirt is not real. By the way, I don't believe that story. Yeah, he says that the t-shirt is not real at all. I don't believe that story.
Starting point is 01:42:51 It's funny. It's funny. I mean, it's hilarious. Because if he threw the t-shirt out of him, he would have the t-shirt, and you could see if the ism's on a t-shirt, they could test it to see if his DNA was on it. But there is no t-shirt. I mean, just the fact that he'd just masturbate on demand like that.
Starting point is 01:43:03 You know how horny you got to be? I don't think about that. You just walking around in a warehouse, and you was like, give me that t-shirt. You just whack one out right quick. Are you just that horny all the time? I mean, I don't believe the story. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:14 But it's hilarious. Yeah. Well, Ditty's asking for this to be thrown out, and he's saying that, you know, hey, the alleged person in this should not be paid anything. So there's an update there and we'll keep you guys updated. Now, in other news, switching gears.
Starting point is 01:43:27 So yesterday there was a video that started to go viral of Meg the Stallion. So there's been, you know, a conversation around her breakup, Clay Thompson. And the video is of Meg Dostalian. She's out in a, like, what looks like a lounge or nightclub in New York City. And she's taking shots out of a girl's chest and just having a good time, right? So people are like, well, how are you posting on Instagram?
Starting point is 01:43:47 Really, really upset, but you're out having a good time. The conduct doesn't match up with what we thought was happening behind the scenes. I spoke to a photographer who took a photo of Megan at that event. His name is Shaka. The studios is ShakaT Studios. And I wanted to clarify that, clarify that she was out celebrating. She has a tequila. So she was out celebrating the launch of a tequila brand here in New York City.
Starting point is 01:44:10 I think the venue was bringing a tequila into the brand. But I feel like anything with her right now, people are just finding a reason to be upset. Like, first of all, if you are upset and you get a breakup, you go out, but she was there for work. She was taking shots, though, right? Yeah, but I mean, out of some girls' boobs. At what point do we realize social media is not the place to have complex conversation? Social media is a place that everything has to be black or white. It has to be either or he's a good, right?
Starting point is 01:44:39 God, Satan, you know, like, hot, cold. Life is complex. Yeah, and people act like they don't live a life. People live a full life that you know nothing about. I know y'all see videos every now and then and pictures every now and then. But, yeah, she might be crying one hour and be out having a good time. That's how it be when you break up. No, that's how I be when you're human.
Starting point is 01:44:58 Yeah. Yeah, but you can't be mad at people for commenting and judging, right? Because if you put your life out there and you show the highlight real, people want to break down everything that's part of your life. That includes the good, the bad, and ugly. But, Envy, all I can show you is my highlight real. Right. Don't you want to be on 24-7?
Starting point is 01:45:12 No, but people look at a comment on you. You want to see me when I wipe my ass too? Yeah. It's going to come to that soon. He posted a photo on the toilet. Go ahead. No, I'm surprised that people haven't, I'm not mad if she's out or whatever like that, but I thought you were going to say people were like,
Starting point is 01:45:26 yo, if you can be out here taking shots and partying and all that, you can finish Broadway. That's a part of the conversation, but that happened. That was, I'm told by Shakati Studios, that was Saturday night. So she might, it might have hit her harder. We don't know all the way of what happened with the cancellation. But also I see people just talking about her conduct as well. Like, and they have the whole, the moral conversation people are trying to have
Starting point is 01:45:44 because she takes a shot out of the woman's boobs. But by the way, I disagree that just because she quit Mulan Rouge, she got to stay in the house. You know what I mean? That's how sometimes you do when you fake sick. Are you giving an excuse to not be at work? And so then you try to stay off social media because, right, right, Jess? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:46:00 You stay on social media because you don't want them to know that you really like getting your head done. I used to do that at my old job. I used to do that at my old job because they were watching. But you understand why people are upset just quickly. But if people bought tickets to Mulan Rouge and they said she's so hurt, she can't finish. But that night she's in the club, people could feel away. They could make a call on it. Because a lot of people are coming to see Mulan Rouge for Megan.
Starting point is 01:46:19 So that's what I was saying. I don't think the total mutually exclusive, though, because I may not be in the right mindset to finish Mulan Rouge, but I can be in the right mindset to go have a drink. Actually, I might need a drink. I got you. I got that too. Go away. Go away, go away, go away, go away.
Starting point is 01:46:31 I just wanted to get to this last segment of the thing. Okay, so this is switching gears heavily. So Mari and Ricky Lee sat down for a conversation on par with Mari. It's a podcast that he does, a show that he does. And they were talking about how times have changed and what they couldn't have done or in this era. Let's take a listen to Mari on topics. I don't resent anything, but there's a particular theme I could not do today. We used to have a show with a beauty pageant.
Starting point is 01:46:55 Is it a man or a woman? Oh, we did that too. You couldn't do that today. You can't do it today. But I don't think it was derogatory. Neither do I. It was not. To me, it was unbelievable that I could be this far from the person and not tell.
Starting point is 01:47:09 And not tell. And not know. Yes. Yeah. So we grabbed some audio. Why can't they do that today? You can't do that today. Come on.
Starting point is 01:47:17 I printed out some pictures for the room. Pick up the photos that you guys have of the contestants. Yours is to your right, Charlemagne. So we have some audio from that actual episode. Let's take. You're saying we can't do it today, but you want to do it on there. No, no, no, no, no, no. What I'm saying is that the.
Starting point is 01:47:33 reason why he's saying he couldn't do it today is because he feels like he would be dragged for. I kept it safe in what we grabbed. Some of the comments, I don't think he meant to be mean, but today they'll be deemed like people going to drag you. So for the listeners, this, she gave us three pictures of three different people. Kelly Shelby and Lolita. And Lolita worked for the Mari show. No. No, period.
Starting point is 01:47:54 So you're going to ask if they're men and women? He's going to tell you. I have Mari talking about it. Let's take a listen to contestants coming out. We already know. Kelvin. The best part. The best part about being a woman is that I will never have to carry my own luggage.
Starting point is 01:48:08 Just look at her. Do you see anything that gives it away? It looked like Adam Apple. I don't know. Now you don't know, do you? You're looking at Adam's apples, you're looking at foreheads. Here's the lovely Lolita, Lolita. The best part about being a woman is that I am voluptuous.
Starting point is 01:48:28 Mori. I'm not playing. I'm not playing. I'm not going to. Mori. Mori, if you didn't know these with men, you didn't want to know. All three of them, man, man. Okay, cut it off.
Starting point is 01:48:35 He has the answers. What are they? Let's take a listen. So, Shelby's a man. Confirm it. I am a woman. Well, I mean, I'm a woman now. What does that mean? What does that mean?
Starting point is 01:48:49 Well, that means I flew overseas and got rid of... Well, I don't like to think my problems hanging. You know what I mean? Let's move on Kelly. Man or woman, Kelly? I was born a male. Okay, here's Lolita. You think that's a man?
Starting point is 01:49:04 Forget you. It's a woman. Here's Lolita. Here's a little surprise. I was born a girl. Yes, and tell everybody where you work. I work for the Mori's show. So there was one woman.
Starting point is 01:49:17 I got two out of three. Yes. But there were a bunch of other people that were about to. Yes. We got to go. We got to go. Yes. So that is the segment.
Starting point is 01:49:24 Lolita is just Sue Marr because they picked her because she looked masculine in the same. That's why they even put her up. Absolutely. That is the latest. Yes. What is that brought to you by? It's brought to you by Top Dog Law.
Starting point is 01:49:34 Any accident, Big or Small, called Top Dog Law. And again, I'm headed to the Accelerate Her Awards. It's a global leadership summit that will be celebrating business and well. Shout out to Kim Blackwell and her whole organization, the PMM agency, concluding me. Lauren is not just headed there.
